(Translated by Google) I called and made a reservation during the holiday, only that morning. When we went to the hotel in the evening, our room was not reserved. Because they couldn't find an excuse, they said, 'We've been looking for you since morning, we couldn't reach you. In fact, is your name Merve?' They said. I called at this time and said that my name is Nuray and I spoke to this person. Then he found a manuscript with my name on it. They kept saying, 'We couldn't reach them by calling'. We left without delay. We even had a hard time finding another hotel because it was very crowded during the holiday. Anyways. In short, a place with two-faced, lying employees.
Yes, the hotel replied to my review. I am adding to it. You said on the phone that you reserved our room without asking for any fee. If you want to take a look at all your phone calls at noon on May 3, and if you look at your camera records between 18:00 and 19:00 in the evening, you can see us, what you said, your mixing of papers, etc.

Kasımiye Madrasah in Mardin is a site of great historical significance and architectural beauty, often acclaimed by visitors for its stunning views and remarkable construction. Built against a hill close to the center of old Mardin, the madrasah offers breathtaking views over the plains of Mesopotamia. The architecture of the building, with its beautiful stone structure and intricate details, captures the essence of the region's rich history.
An interesting feature inside the madrasah is a pool, known as the 'fountain of life,' symbolizing various stages of life, from infancy to senectitude and death. This pool adds a unique dimension to the historical and educational significance of the madrasah. Visitors often appreciate the symbolism and the opportunity to learn about the site's history.
One aspect to note is that if the weather in Mardin is foggy, it might obstruct the otherwise spectacular views around the building. The madrasah was an important educational center in its time, serving both religious and scientific education, and it was one of the most important in the area during its peak.
The madrasah is easily reachable by car or taxi and is located on the southwest outskirts of Mardin. It's recommended to set aside about an hour for the visit, and there's a symbolic entry fee. The best time for photography enthusiasts might be around 3:00 PM or during sunset for breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape.
In summary, Kasımiye Madrasah is not just a historic site but a journey into the rich cultural and educational past of the region, offering a unique blend of architectural grandeur and profound symbolism

Wonderful place to be during sunset for its colors, reflections and shades. And the view/sunset over Mesopotamia is incredible too. When you want to see all, including upstairs/balcony than you have to be there before 4pm. Upstairs closes at 4pm. Depending on photo shoots times can vary but round 5pm - 5.30pm everybody has to leave.

1500 year old. Full of history and still in use for worshipping so quite unique place. There is 1500 year old pagan worship place. So amazing that they put about 20 stones each 1.5 tons on the roof without any adhesive. I was stocked that how they did it. They used 45 degrees 📐 angled stones. That was on 500 AD. Amazing.

I am so happy that this monastery is not ignored and being cared by its community very well. The monastery is very serene and beautiful, there is an entrance fee and you are being briefly informed by Syriac guys about its history. Many parts are closed for visitors and I guess it is because of its current use, it is still being used as a worship centre. The garden is well designed and the location is about half an hour from Mardin city centre. It is certainly worth seeing.

Awesome place to visit. If in the Mardin area this is a must see. My wife and I spent about 3 hours vising all the sites in Dara (2 cisterns, ancient city, tombs). Day we visited some kids were chasing a mentally challenged adult and throwing rocks at him. The town itself is very dirty and its kind of depressing to see people literally living in structures (using structures loosely) built on top of one of the 2,000 year old cisterns. With all this said still worth visiting. Going between the sites I would suggest driving versus walking.
EveryDayGlory ! — Google review
One of the most amazing sites of southern Turkey. Dara was one of the most important cities of the later Romano-Persian wars and was the site of the only located battle. Much of the city is still there, including a full stretch of wall, a quarry, the agora, and the necropolis. Most impressive by far are the various water features. Atop the acropolis is a castellum aquae for handling water brought in via aqueduct and there are two giant and intact cisterns that you can descend into. Well worth seeing if you have the time!

Unbelievable place. One of the best Roman ruins that I saw during my travels around the world. This place is huge and consists of many objects, including massive water cisterns, bridges, agora, roads, walls, houses and other ancient Roman structures. I feel like this place deserves much more attention that it has now. History buffs can easily spend a whole day exploring it. And even for regular tourists it's worth to spend at least 3-4 hours in this area.
Jans Glagolevs — Google review
Called the "Ephesus of Mesopotamia" the ruins of the ancient Dara are only 30 km from the center of Mardin city. Until 2008, they were completely underground, virtually arousing no interest. Due to the aforementioned proximity to the border with Syria, as well as remoteness from the west coast of Türkiye, no local excursion programs took this area into account. In the old days, Dara was one of the most important settlements on the Silk Road. In antiquity, it was an important fortress in northern Mesopotamia, on the border with the Sassanid Empire. In the 6th century, the largest Byzantine field army in the south was stationed in Dara, and the city itself was a complex complex of civilian buildings, baths, water reservoirs and public places.

Definitely must see ancient town!
Dara, an important East Roman fortress city dating back year of 530. Ancient city is huge and modern town of Dara is now situated on the ruins which are clearly seen. People continue living in ancient city, we can say. Grave area is well kept and welcomes you as a first stop. Necropol, dungeon, and a King Seat is a bit away, in village centre. Anyone visiting Mardin shouldn’t miss this forgettable experience.
Suha Guvenc — Google review
This place is so beautiful but it is totally neglected. There is not any service ( just a small cafe at the entrance) around this area like it is abandoned or something. Carelessness makes this place underappreciated. There was trash everywhere even in the cistern. People are so insensitive about this. It was so upsetting to see historical places in this position. Government should take responsibility about this unique place but there is nothing. Even discovery of this place is not completed yet. There is a huge area to be discovered. I hope someday it will get the real value it deserves in the right hands.

Saline lake, the largest body of water in Turkey, with views of castle ruins & adjacent mountains.
It is a saline lake that receives water from many small streams that flow from the surrounding mountains. It is one of the few endorheic lakes in the world (a lake with no outlet) with an area of more than 3,000 square kilometers (1,200 square miles) and contains 38% of the country's surface water

Sunken cities are typically the stuff of legend, but at the end of last year archaeologists found the real thing hiding deep within Lake Van in Turkey.
After a decade of searching the Middle East's second largest lake, the home of a lost kingdom has been found hundreds of metres beneath the surface.
The Akdamar Kilisesi, a remarkable medieval cathedral situated on an island in Lake Van, is a stunning example of Armenian architecture. Constructed by King Gagik Artzruni in 921, the church boasts intricate carvings depicting biblical scenes that are considered some of the finest works of Armenian art. Although little remains of the palace and monastery built alongside it, the church walls remain in excellent condition.
It is so a beautiful church on the Akdamar island. I was amazed by the outside of the walls.👍🏼You can see the church inside as free. Not a big church but the frescoes on the wall in the main service room is so beautiful. On the Outside of the wall, there are different Bible stories a relief carving which is amazed me!

Extraordinary island, extraordinary church. Very beautiful on the outside but very destroyed on the inside. It was a bit disappointing to see the inside like that, but just going to the island is very exciting. You should definitely go.

A stunning location. Ok, it is not a secret and everyone knows it, but a must to visit. Very popular, but you can find quiet places on the island

The church was built around 10th century and famous for its unique carvings of historical figures and events narrated in Bible. Each side of the church consists carvings of the authors of the four Gospel, Matthew, Mark, Luke and John.
You can visit the church by ferry from Gevas which is around 40 km to Van city center. The round ticket is 25 TL.

I liked everything except the dirty toilets, otherwise; I would give 5 stars. Some people say that you pay extra money when you get to the island but its not extra money, if you have a museum card, you dont pay any money. The card is cheap and valid for a year. The island is worth seeing.
Nida Fidanboy — Google review
This is another breathtaking place. If it is winter with lots of snow and below -20 kind of arctic cold then make sure there is a boat waiting for you otherwise you have to wait until they have enough passenger to justify the ride in that weather (no blame ). But it is worth every minute of your struggle so no matter the roadblocks, do whatever you can and go there. Locals say spring time is another story to visit the place with all the surrounding almond trees in bloom so i guess we will have to come back and gladly so 😉

Try to avoid coming here in the middle of the summer if it is possible, but otherwise this island is a great experience. There are walking trails to take in the beauty of the island and lake Van, and the jewel is the 1000 year old Armenian church. There is also a gift shop and tea house on the island, perfect for resting.
Nicholas Urman — Google review
A bit underwhelming to be honest. As a foreigner it costs 290TL but the island and church is less impressive than other similarly priced attractions. There is also the additional cost of the boat to get there (which admittedly provides excellent views of the lake). The church is beautiful and the art was very interesting but it's quite small. The island itself is nice but there was rubbish everywhere and most of the island is fenced off so you can only access a small part. Toilets were free but smelled awful.
Hamish Riley — Google review
Brilliant experience.
A historic building on a beautiful island which you reach by ferryboat.
There is a small café on the island.
Also you are able to see some grey rabbits.
Home to a historic church & many bird species, this 3-km. long island is the largest in Lake Van.
One of the most well maintained antique church I’ve seen. The trip os beautiful as you take a boat and enjoy the view. Nice cafe and souvenir store on the island.
To get there is tricky. You must drive to the port with enough time since they need at least 12 people per boat. We went at 15:00 and departed at 16:40 which in this case it was the last ferry. So don’t be confident you’ll make it in low season, give yourself enough time.
Oz MP — Google review
Wonderful island, amazing history, peaceful during the week. The dance party boat is terrible. Island entry price of 290pp is way too steep, (especially when it should include an audio guide which they only have in Turkish.) That's the normal entry price for adults, BTW, not just foreigners. Saw plenty of locals paying that. Still...absolutely worth the half day trip. Take swimming gear, picnic go early, and take an afternoon boat back. Magic.

It is a beautiful island! Not big but the view is amazing. You can see the lake and mountains at the same time. There is two different port you can take a boat to Island. and Island has as well. It takes around 40min or 1 hour-ish. Depends on from which port you take a boat.
SoYa TR — Google review
Beautiful island with a beautiful architecture of the church. You can take ferries for 25TL (2021 prices, forth and back total price). You gotta be careful in off season as the ferry waits for at least 10 people to load, or expect to pay more. I had to rent it all alone as there was nobody in December. Make sure you buy a museum card at the entrance as it is cheaper that way. U can use the ticket for the Van castle and Van museum, too.

A great place to visit but the Museum fee to enter does not warrant the appalling amount of litter and disgusting state of the toilets, which the museum staff seem to willing use without complaint.
My first picture shows an empty rubbish bin with litter by the path

Not easy to get to by public transport (take a dolmus to Gevas from the main state road), and way too touristic. The grounds are littered with trash and the view is not nearly as nice in autumn as in spring.
Fabulous research centre protecting these beautiful Van Cats and so well kept. The facilities for the cats are wonderful - dining rooms, play rooms, sleeping rooms, tunnels between them all and great outside enclosed areas too.

To start with: the beauty of this historical place is undeniable of course. However the route to the top is very unclear. (I believe) there are two routes. One seems easier than the other, which is trough normal ground. It does not seem like an official route though, just a route through the grass that has been walked by many people. And one is through the stairs made of stones. There are no fences which makes it very dangerous. Considering the castle is 80 meters in height, so no fences whatsoever is not safe. Secondly, the route with the stones stopped almost at the top, it was not possible to go to the castle. So knowing getting there took so much effort, it was very frustrating. It surely was an anticlimax. Make sure to wear good shoes because the stones are very slippery and on a hot day you will also need water. I think such a beautiful place deserves more facilities, like a decent stairway or something that makes it more accessible.
Mizgîn — Google review
Nice castle with a great full view of Van and Van Lake. We went when there is snow there, and it's beautiful. However, the way back down can be a little slippery so watch out for your steps.
The castle can be better if the authorities put in more attention to it.
Not much people when we went there in late December.
We hope the local authorities can put more attention to the historic castle such as cleanliness and building new toilets.
All in all, we we enjoyed our visit there and hope to visit there again next time.

Take your time to visit this place if you enjoy history. Is worth the walk to the entire facility. If you wish to do that, be prepare for an easy hike into the mountain across de field. Wear long pants, sport shoes, and if possible long sleeve or get some bug repellant many flying insects in the fields.
Don’t worry they don’t attack but it is sometimes annoying when you look up and see hundreds or when you move your arms quickly and touch them.
I was with short sleeve and no issues what so ever

It could be an amazing attraction but it is not taken care of, and it is not easy to visit. Even the part where the Xerxes inscription is located is super interesting but there is not even an entrance. There are ancient churches completely ruined that could be restored and exhibited as tourist attraction. It has great potential but poorly administered.
Pablo Guajardo — Google review
Go to the museum first. It’s best to come to the castle by car or bus. If the big gate on the east side isn’t open, it’s 5 km, around the farms to the lake side entrance. There are very few signs to guide you. I had to ask a farmer for help. The climb to the top is strenuous and uneven. Wear good shoes. It’s sad to see how much trash is everywhere. The Turks can learn from the Greeks about how to care for historical sites. The view is nice. It’s very difficult to get to the Xerxes Epigraph. There are bees everywhere. If you are allergic, then don’t go!
Richard Kuenzinger — Google review
This location from outside looks soo huge & impressive that some people of our group didn't feel good to climb to the top.
We had to check the history through some reviews & websites to understand the history of this palace that exists for almost 3 000 years & so many civilizations left traces there.
I hope one day they will be able to restore it and facilitate the access.

I read some comments and saw that some people are bored here but its not because of the fortress I think. ☹️If you dont like history do not visit such places. Amazing historic castle. Much of it has been restored, but the views and placement in incredible. Highly recommended. Not a safe place for kids though...
Hoşap Castle, an impressive structure constructed in the mid-17th century by Mahmudi chieftain Sari Suleyman under Ottoman rule, comprises two main sections. The upper keep, situated on a towering cliff above the Hosap River, is a striking feature. The lower walled village, mostly composed of mud brick walls which have weathered away over time, also forms part of the castle complex.
Sept. 2023 - it's closed for renovation, but it looks like they are doing a really nice job. Still worth visiting, looks great from outside - location as a bastion in wild country is atmospheric

There is much here to enjoy with a lovely short circular walk around the old castle. Unfortunately it was closed when we visited but was worth seeing anyway. The old mud outer walls of the old town along the hillsides are quite awe inspiring. Walking round the old village was also interesting and the locals were all very friendly.

We went there on the way back from Vanadoky, so didn't have much time to explore. One Kurdish man kindly opened the gate to the castle for us, and told a little bit of history.
The castle is very old, but not touristic, so it feels very nice to be one and only visitor there.
Worth to visit
Mariia Dorokhina — Google review
Fantastic place. The castle was built in the mid 17th century by Mahmudi chieftain Sarı Süleyman, a vassal of the Ottomans. There are two primary parts to the castle: the striking upper keep buit atop a cliff faced rock that towers over the güzel su (Hoşap) River and a lower walled village. Most of these lower walls were made of mud brick but have eroded away.
Access to the castle changes from month to month. Sometimes there is a door warden, sometimes you need to get the keys from the police station up the hill, and sometimes it's closed completely due to archaeological work at the site.

We came here after reading great things in outdated guide books and google reviews. We arrived here to find the castle closed. Upon digging deeper into the reviews I understand it was been closed for some time. Although the view is nice and the front gate is nice, I would try and get information regarding entrance before coming here. Definitely worth a stop if you are passing by, in my humble opinion not worth the 1 hour detour we took to get here.

The Blue Mosque is a partially-reconstructed 15th-century place of worship, featuring intricate and vibrant tiles and calligraphy. It stands as a remarkable example of Islamic and Iranian architectural art. This shrine, dating back six centuries, derives its name from the outstanding blue tiles adorning it. Within the mosque, there is an informative guide well-versed in every aspect of this sacred site.
A most beautiful gem at the heart of Tabriz, this mosque has stood as both a praying place and a centre for people to come together. The mosque has stood vicissitudes of time and has become the beacon of beauty in the city. The symmetrical structure of the walkway will definitely take you breath away.

This is a pinnacle in Islamic and Iranian architectural art. A shrine dating back to 600 years ago with outstanding blue tiles which it gets its name from. Inside the mosque there's a guide that dedicated his research on studying this place and knows a lot from every corner of the shrine. This place was made by the order of Jahanshah and he and his wife are buried inside of it, just like Taj Mahal in India. Highly recommended.

The blue mosque is a well known monument in Tabriz. Constructed around 1465 it was destroyed in an earthquake around 300 years later. It took another 200 years for it to be reconstructed by a famous architect from Tabriz and is now in use again. You can enter it and wander around admiring the eautiful tiles and the reconstruction. Very recommendable.

The mosque was severely damaged in an earthquake in 1780, leaving only the iwan (entrance hall).Reconstruction began in 1973 by Reza Memaran Benam under the supervision of Iranian Ministry of Culture. However, it is still incomplete.
grant ps — Google review
The mosque was built in 1465, massive stone dome and extensive blue tiles used to decorate it. Unfortunately there was an earthquake in th 1770's which damaged the art work. The repair work is still ongoing. Would say it needs quite some time, as it looked like not even 50% done. The exterior is still missing most of its outer casing of tiles.
Fatma Sayed Qasem — Google review
Perhaps this Mosque does not have the beauties of other mosques in Isfahan and Shiraz but it is quite unique in Iran due to the original blue of its interiors. Unfortunately an earthquake destroyed most of the building, which is now a mix between the glorious past and the daily reconstruction.
DANIELE CASSANO — Google review
Cannot really complain about the price, but 150.000 entrance fee feels a bit hefty compared to the cost of other things here. The inside is accessible and has intact blue tiles, but there isn't a lot too see. The outside used to have the blue tiles as well, but apart from the front side, most is gone.

Very special place, great atmosphere. The crater lake in the centre of the fortified area is still today a miracle. To have a well on the top of the hill has been fascinating for milleniums. Unfortunately the remains of the firetemple are very poor and there are no plans of the different stages of construction and development. Don't miss to klimb the hill south of the car park to get a beautiful view of the whole area. In addition i recomend to klimb Zendan-e Soleyman, a nearby Vulkano

There is a car park which you can camp if you like. The road from Dandy is bumpy but it worth to visit the complex. The lake which is a spring is amazing on top of the hill.

Takht-e-Soleyman:
Azargoshnasb Fire Temple built during Sassanid dynasty as the holy space for the Kings and military class (worriers) to be blessed by Ahuramazda. Was repurposed and used by Illkhanid Mongol dynasty after Islam.
It has an artesian calcite pond, with 112 meter depth connected to the underground water aquifers and magically stays isothermal at 21 deg C, during all seasons. This breathtaking pond is famous to be the heart chakra of mother Earth.
Takht-e-Soleyman, has been, is and will be an elevated geographical and spiritual site for the souls of the people of this land, to stay in full gratitude for what their ancesstors left for them as a legacy, value and identity. #Takht-e-Soleyman will be significant in shaping the future identity of the people of this land, #Iranians.
The Sheikh Safi Al-Din Ardabili's Shrine is a revered complex and a World Heritage Site in Western Iran. It features an ancient 1345 mausoleum tower and dome adorned with calligraphy, including the endlessly repeated name of God. The area surrounding the complex is currently under excavation, while a walled garden provides a serene reading sanctuary. The shrine houses the tombs of various members of the Safavi family and also hosts the Ardabil archeology museum.
Greatly worth visiting place in Ardabil! Inside the complex, there are several places you can enjoy visiting, including the breathtaking Sheikh Safi-o-din shrine (his own grave plus the graves of his son, grandson, & King Ismail I) with precious architecture and art works besides Sheikh Safi-o-din Khanegah (a place for peace and pray, spiritual retreat and reformation), and moreover the fully informative museum of discovered remains of different historical periods which is located beside the shrine. You can buy and enjoy delicious "Halva-Siah" ("Black Halva", a kind of sweet paste made from wheat sprouts) which is one of the Ardabil souvenirs as you finish your visit!

I recently visited Sheikh Safi al-Din Ardabili Shrine, a UNESCO World Heritage Site located in the city of Ardabil, Iran. The shrine is the tomb of Sheikh Safi al-Din Ardabili, a Sufi saint who founded the Safavid order of Islam. The shrine complex is a vast and impressive complex, with a number of different buildings, including a mosque, a mausoleum, a library, and a museum.
The shrine is beautifully decorated with intricate tilework, calligraphy, and woodwork. The mausoleum is particularly impressive, with a soaring dome and a beautifully carved mihrab. The mosque is also worth visiting, with its delicate stained glass windows and its intricate prayer rugs.
The shrine complex is a peaceful and serene place, and it is a great place to learn about the history of Sufism and the Safavid dynasty. I highly recommend visiting Sheikh Safi al-Din Ardabili Shrine if you are ever in Ardabil, Iran.
Here are some additional details about my visit:
I visited the shrine in the morning, and it was not crowded at all. I was able to wander around the complex at my own pace and take in all the sights and sounds.
The staff at the shrine were very friendly and helpful. They were happy to answer my questions about the shrine and the Safavid dynasty.
I spent about two hours at the shrine, and I felt like I had enough time to see everything. However, if you are interested in learning more about the history of the shrine and the Safavid dynasty, you could easily spend more time there.
Overall, I had a great experience visiting Sheikh Safi al-Din Ardabili Shrine. It is a beautiful and historic place, and I would definitely recommend it to anyone who is interested in learning more about Sufism or the Safavid dynasty.

Sheikh Safi al-din Khaneghah and shrine ensemble was built as a small microcosmic city with bazaar, public bath, square, religious building, houses and offices. This wonderful ensemble is of outstanding universal value as an artistic and architectural masterpiece and an outstanding representation of the fundamental principles of Sufism.

I like it.
It's entrance fee is 55000 rials.
Go on time to visit all of it.
In addition there is two museums that mostly have old swords.
I went to Sarein and passed the Ardabil ring road, I googled this place and realized I have more 1 hour time till closing time, changed my trip plan, enter Ardabil and go toward shrine, unfortunately when I reach there time was around 19:00 , that was closed. Although the area around was beautiful at night and lot of souvenir shopping ,but I couldn't visit the Shrine.I think time table of working hour need to be edited and phone number of person responsible for information and reception should be added

Because of the cave's proximity to large cities such as Hamadan, it is a highly recommended destination for tourists from all corners of the world. Tours of the cave are available by pedalos. # Soltanieh dome
The dome of Soltanieh was built by order of Sultan Oljaito or Sultan Mohammad Khodabandeh, one of the kings of the Ilkhanid dynasty between 1302 to 1312
The Soltanieh Dome, with a height of 48.5 meters and an inner opening diameter of 25.5 meters, is the third tallest dome in the world after the Church of Santa Maria Delphiore in Florence with 86 meters and the Hagia Sophia in Istanbul with 56 meters.
Some believe that Al-Jaito built this building after converting to Islam and intending to transfer the bodies of Imam Ali and Imam Hussein to Iran, but for some reason he gave up. It is even said that he even converted from Islam and converted to his former religion. In different parts of Soltanieh dome, corridors and maps can be seen that have made some believe that Oljaito was built for some religious customs. He is said to have been buried in the surrounding mountains despite his will to be buried in the crypt.
In terms of structure and architectural decorations, Gonbad Soltanieh is one of the landmarks of Iranian Islamic architecture, which is said to have been a model of various buildings throughout history and is unique in many ways and I recommend you to see if you travel to Iran ,
Soltanieh dome is one of the first examples and according to many experts, it is the first example of a double or double shell dome. This method of construction has made the dome extremely strong and can stay away from natural disasters for hundreds of years. The dome of Soltanieh is mainly made of brick and its dome is covered with beautiful turquoise tiles and golden designs.
The building consists of 8 porches and 8 minarets, which are said to be modeled on 8 in heaven (gates of goodness or doors of goodness). The building includes two periods of decoration. The first round was brick and tile decorations, in which verses from the Qur'an , the names of Allah, Muhammad, Ali, and the name of the Sultan were written through bricks and tiles, but after some time, for some unknown reason, Sultan Mohammad Khodabandeh ordered the tiles to be covered with plaster.
The dome of Soltanieh consists of three main parts: the entrance, the tomb and the crypt.
Gonbad Soltanieh has been registered by UNESCO.
Don't miss it if you travel to Iran

Mountaintop ruins of a 6.4-acre fort built from the 3rd–7th centuries, with 42 remaining towers.
A unique Castle 🏰 with ancient fortress. A mesmerising landmark in the middle of mountain Jungles.
You will enjoy a great hike in a greenery twisty path with a lot of stairs. Also, you can see Gigantic trees 🌲 and hear birdsong.
It takes a gentle 90 minute walk from parking to the castle.
Be careful some parts are slippery specially in the rain. Never forget your hiking shoes. 🥾
You can eat or buy local food & souvenirs along the way. 🍳 🍪
Spring & Autumn are best seasons for visit.
⚠️ Forests & Mountains are far more beautiful without plastic bags & bottles.
Breathtaking views on top of the castle.

I have been visiting this wonderful place in a November which was winter season during evening time a few hours before sunset , however it was great and nice hiking activity because you have to walk 1 hour to 1 hour and half upstairs to reach the top and reach the castle , there was a fresh water coming out from mountain inside the castle and trees and environment is so wonderful while going upstairs during evening cloud totally covered the castle while we were up .
Hint // be aware of walking on stairs for more than one hour , so wear good shoes .

It was awesome, but it had huge traffic. And if you want to visit the actual castle, you have to climb about 800 steps, and it takes about 50 mins. So if you want to visit there you need 1 day at least 🫠. Good Luck🔥🤝🏼

Very unique experience, there are about 1600 steps up the mountains to reach the castle, the journey is great, the castle itself has no added benefits, it's just walls with a high crowded people all over it, the journey to reach there is actually good not the end location, but you should be prepared for the long walk and elevation, most people realize midway that it's very long and they might consider turning back, but once you are up there you feel a great relief and sensation for finishing this. After that it's just pictures and telling people not to give up on the way back.

This mountain castle is amazingly embedded in the green forest that overgrows its walls and courtyards. It is reached by a winding path, climbing gently through the shady forest. You can roam the castle for hours. At the path and at the foot of the castle there are plenty of places where you can eat or buy a variety of souvenirs [e.g. great local tea] can not say enough about the view and how gorgeous it is, it is a historical castle with an amazing view all around it. Nice story as well. But you might wanna be prepared for the journey, it's more than 1600 stairs on a mountain that you have to climb. It really is hard to get up there, but once you're there, you see that its worth it.
mohammad reza Khatami — Google review
Good place for climbing up. It's about 2 km from parking lot and you need 1.5 hours to reach the top of the castle. The path is very beautiful with birds singing, rivers and covers by old tall trees. It would be somehow hard for amateurs but it worth it to go to the peak and see the castle.

This is a very nice place... location of the castle is really good... I can imagine how hard was for someone to conquer that castle... to get there you need to go on foot by stairs lots of stairs ... if you are not in a good condition prepare for something like atvleast 1 h climbing...plus 30-45 minutes at the top and 40 minutes going down. But all of that is worth views you will have there;)... on the way you can buy drinks and sth toneatvso no need to carry that wit you... consider proper shoes... snickers are the best while the roks might be slippery... for ladies high heels shoes are strongly NOT recommended;)

Natural lagoon & wildlife habitat featuring a variety of birds species, grassy areas & water lilies.
Anzali Lagoon has several islands.
Due to the fact that the lilies of Bandar Anzali lagoon are only in summer (from late June to late September), the best season is to visit the wetland and the city of Bandar Anzali, the summer season. The interesting thing about this wetland is that its flowers are known as the Niloofar flower, but in fact these flowers are the marshy lily of the valley.

This is a large lagoon on the sea side in north iran. We visited in April and took a ride by a speed boat. The ride was nice but we saw no lotus flowers, which is a pity, as they appear later in summer.
We saw some birds but not as many as we expected and the animal living wild in the islands within the lagoon were only buffalos.
We paid over 10 million Tomans for the trip. Very expensive for Iran.
Is it worth it?
I don’t think so although we enjoyed the one hour ride.

Anzali Lagoon with an area of about 20 thousand hectares in the north of Iran is located in Gilan Province. Anzali Lagoon is one of the most interesting and greatest natural habitats of fauna in Iran and annually welcomes many birds that enter Iran from the neighboring countries. Anzali Lagoon is not comparable to any other lagoons in Iran due to its geographical position and in terms of its high humidity and water. The most famous plant in Anzali Lagoon which is world famous is “nelubium capsicum” which makes this lagoon be called nelubium capsicum.
One of the most beautiful water landscapes in the region is the international Anzali Lagoon.this lagoon is the place for aquatic spawn and the shelter for native and migratory birds and also the most important source of sturgeon and bony fish production in the Caspian Sea. There are outstanding islands in the lagoon and the two magnificent cities of Anzali Lagoon and Abkenar are located on its coast.
Anzali Lagoon was registered in 1354 in the list of international lagoons of Ramsar Convention. “Ramsar Convenstion, 1975”. Bird Life International Organization declared this lagoon as an important shelter birds.
Anzali Lagoon is one of the registered international lagoons in Iran. This lagoon is one of the first lagoons registered in Ramsar Convention in 1971.
Since Anzali Lagoon is a registered international lagoon, it is included in the Montreal List at the moment. Being in this list means the lagoon is being dried and needs attention.
Anzali Lagoon has a sister city relationship with Kushiro Lagoon in the Kushiro National Park in Kushiro-Shitsugen.

Alamut is region in Iran including western and eastern part in western edge of Alborz range, between the dry and barren plain of Qazvin.
In 1090 CE, Hassan_i Sabbah, the leader of the assassins,a sect of Mazarin Ismailis in Iran, chose the Alamut region as his headquarters to campaign, preach and covert new followers. This proved to be a turning point for the destiny of Alamut valley.
Meisam Alahverdi meigouni — Google review
Alamut means Eagle's Nest. It is the famous castle from the history of Persia. You may have heard its name in the movie Prince of Persia. It is said that the English word "assassin" came from the word "hassasin", the followers of Hassan i Sabbah, perfect killers in that era. Currently, the place is in ruins and it is being renovated but the work is very slow. It may take a few years to bring it to life. You will have to climb many steps in order to reach the castle. The castle is not worth taking pictures of, but the view of Alamut Valley from the top especially at the time of sunset is breathtaking. The road to this castle is way more beautiful than the place itself, my second favourite after chalus road. Lots of places for couples and families to spend time if they come here by car. There is a parking and a public toilet available near the ticket area, no food so plan your visit accordingly. The price of the ticket for Iranians and Tourists are different. Approximately, 3 dollars for tourists. DO NOT forget to keep water with you while climbing!

The cheapest way from Tehran is to take a bus (80000-100000 Toman) to Qazvin, from Qazvin bus terminal go to taxi stop outside (20 min walk max). Ask any taxi driver to go to alamut castle and don't agree to the initial fares they demand. BARGAIN!! There are no fix rates. And, Qazvin is cheaper than Tehran. We paid (200000 Toman each) and it is expensive. It takes 2 hours and 30 mins max to reach there. Ask the taxi driver to drop you at Golestan restaurant which is just below alamut castle. Most of them will try to drop you afar and you will have to hike upwards with your luggage on mountainous terrain. Kinda tiring. Don't let them do that. If you plan to stay a night at the Golestan restaurant, you can either book a suite, room or you can sleep outside on a big table, which is the cheapest (they provide blanket and pillows). There is a restaurant at the top of the castle. You can have tea there but it's pricey. Enjoy!!

Mysterious stories of Alamut Castle in medieval times combined with the beauty of the landscape made for a memorable visit. The fortress was built in around 865 AD, high upon a rock at a tactical viewpoint where eagles might land. The name Alamut is said to mean"eagle's nest" or "eagle's teaching".
Alamut was the headquarters of the Nizari Ismaili state. Of the many strongholds, Alamut is the most famous and was thought impregnable to any military attack. There are stories of its heavenly gardens, library, and laboratories where philosophers, scientists, and theologians could debate in intellectual freedom.
The stronghold survived many attacks prior to the Mongol invasion in 1256, during which time the library was completely destroyed.

It is an ancient castle built by Hasan Sabbah in 11th century, to defend his religious cult (Ismailieh) from Holagu Khan. Holagu was a Mongolian ruler who conquered much of western Asia. Hassan Sabbah was founder of Ismaili state and his military group are know as Order of Assassins and they were famous for training eagles. The location of Alamut castle is on top of a 2100 meters hill witch makes it very hard to conquer. And it is very beautiful to look at because you'll be able to see effects on the mountains from last ice ages.

The walk and the sights going there are the best parts, the castle is covered with scaffolding but you can still walk a bit through and get glimpse of what is was.
