It's a peaceful place, surrounded by nature. It doesn't matter if you're religious or not, it still feels nice to visit that kind of space, gives some kind of feeling of freedom and calmness, serenity.

Merkinės Piramidė - Interesting place. The glass dome shines in the sun, surrounded by the forests of Dzūkija (the historical region in southern Lithuania). There is a three-sided aluminium pyramid inside the dome as well as two crosses made of a unique alloy that concentrate and transmit subtle energy. For several decades people have been visiting the site of the Pyramid of Merkinė in large numbers, gaining strength and spiritual balance through prayer – meditation and enjoying improved physical health.
Remis Van — Google review
Nice experience, new believe, special for Christian, a noticeable feeling of energy present. The songs in the dome was extraordinary.

This is an important spiritual place for religious people (Catholic in particular). Interesting history and quite a weird atmosphere.
Aist? Ra?inskait? — Google review
Religious place of self-created religion. Good for a short stop if passing by. Not more.
Tarasas Sereda — Google review
A quiet place for all kind of people. No Matt, religious, or any. Meditate here and you'll feel so good. The inside of pyramid is just sometimes i cannot note down or explain in the reviews. For that one needs to visit that place. The echoing inside the pyramid is so soothing to the ears. It's a Kinda religious place for Christians. Don't forget to read the institute before entering the pyramid.
Also they've Healing water taps in a separate room, don't forget to carry along with you a filled bottle.

This place is very important to me. So many times I came here looking for peace and calmness, and to pick up myself also. If you're in Alytus or nearby, do go there, you won't regret it

Hi folks. Today, we r visiting Merkines pyramide. Quite interesting place, aperantly many years ago it was some houses in the middle of nowhere bit 20 y.e ago everything changed. But it's a story that u can trad on Google.
They've got free parking, toilets, free holly and energyzrd watter and huge pyramid in the middle of forest.
Mindaugas Virsilas — Google review
Feels nice even if you're not religious. Although in the dome sound echos a lot, so it's good to be quiet. Only thing I disliked was kids being very loud and playing around in the dome. But you can get free energized water with a bottle and cap provided, and walk in the dome. There's free bathrooms too. Free to come but donations welcome.

Nice watchtower! Worth a visit for the view. As tourist, there was not really information in other languages than polish. But with a translated you can manage. We had the luck to see some cows standing on an island.
Lidian Schregardus — Google review
It may seem unstable because of how the tower moves from side to side but not actually moving, but the view up top is worth every step taken. If you have fear of heights, don't go further than the first platform because the top one is like a leaf in the wind. Unless, you really don't want to go up such a place, go under the tower and you can still get a nice view there as well.
Kamilė Celiešiūtė (Hela) — Google review
Old villages hardly touched by civilization, old style bee hives still sitting in the trees, clear streams and springs that you can drink from, boggs and natural forests that are difficult to find in Europe. Well worth a visit!

Liked the experience. I think they are the only ones in Lithuania that has a Monster bus and a Monster truck. Tried them both - a magnificent experience!

What an amazing experience. I was gifted a rally and Aiste (one of the professional drivers) created an unforgettable memory for me while we drove around the course. Everyone here is so welcoming and makes sure that you feel safe. I had the opportunity to experience both a monster car ride and a rally drive which was awesome. I loved the adrenaline rush and will definitely be back soon:)

My first ride with this pretty monster 👹🤟. I am super happy. My childhood dream came true 🔥🔥🔥 And very nice instructor!
Anna Kozule — Google review
A fun ride. If there's anyone seeking some soft adrenaline this place is a must go. There are few options with monster trucks, to drive with a driver and to try driving yourself. We went for the first option and it was very fun. There's also racing cars around and you can drive with them. The sad thing is, the prices. It seemed pretty expensive at first when buying the coupon, but then when arriving they asked to pay 30 euros more because of rising gas prices... While it's understandable it is also absurd..

A unique place for petrol heads! Drove a monster truck with my son and it was a lifetime experience, a grate place for anyone interested in rally, motocross - you can use your own vehicle or motorbike, as well you can rent one or have a lesson with professional Rally or motocross pilot. if you are a petrolhead - highly recommend to visit!!
In wintertime this was a fairly snowy castle located approximately 45mins from Vilnius very close to the Belarusian border.
The castle was €6 for adults to visit, and the best attractions were in the multi-leveled castle tower museum. In the warmer seasons, you can go to the top.
Matty B — Google review
Nice castle with museum inside. Also there could be more activities in the garden.
Linas Gutauskas — Google review
Castle is renovated. You can get on top of main tower. There is also museum inside main tower which is small, but pleasant.
I recommend it as a weekend trip from Vilnius (~40 min drive) with kids.

Hi everyone. Last Sunday of mnth, free entry for most museums. 6€ for adults, free for kids to 7 and etc. U can take photos for free, and some profi for extra charge. Well, a lot parking space, if it was for cash would love to see more, but for free😀, very nice. Ok, seriously, if it is summer, go, don't know nothing about winter. Go with kids, they will love it and btw u got the whole room of ex-president Brazauskas trofees.
Mindaugas Virsilas — Google review
Nicely preserved castle with museum situated in the corner tower, which has 5 floors and open top for nice view. Entrance fee is 6 EUR per person, free if charge for children up to 7 years. Has a big yard inside and some former prisoners keeping mechanisms. Nearby wooden church and hills of Juozapinė and Aukštoja.

Nice small castle with great history in itself. Nice small museum within the tower, possibility to climb on top of the tower to enjoy surrounding views.

Once an important castle with their own rich picturesque history..
it was demolished and now it is being rebuilt. There is no row of bastions, high walls, deep moat or raised bridges.. just fantastic view from the top of main tower.
Quiet and calm place.

This is a beautiful church in a breathtaking place in Lithuania, a couple of dozen kilometers from the capital, from Vilnius. This place, this town, Trakai, which is located between the beautiful lakes and which in the old days was the capital of the Lithuanian duchy, simply incomparably magnificent. This church was founded in the first half of the 19th century, during the Russian imperial occupation of Lithuania. First, a small building was built. During the brutal First World War, the church was badly damaged. After several years of worship, the divine service was restored there.

Vytauto g. 32, Trakai, 21106 Trakų r. sav., Lithuania
I'll never travel to Riga without this trip planner again
Trakai Island Castle is a picturesque medieval fortress located on an island in a tranquil lake. It was constructed around 1400 to provide stronger defenses for Grand Duke Vytautas. The castle is characterized by coral-colored brick towers and serves as the home of the excellent Trakai History Museum, which displays various artifacts from past eras including chainmail, medieval weapons, embroidery and glassware. During summer months, the castle's courtyard becomes a magical stage for concerts and plays.
Very beautiful place. Exactly in hot weather I am very recommend to rent a water bysicle and go across the island around the castle. I will love it, I promise you. For renting any water attraction you need a cash! Souvenirs in front of the main bridge to castle supports card payment. All restaurants also support cards.
Jevgenij Chomaniuk — Google review
Trakai Castle, located in the middle of a lake, like in fairy tales, reachable via wooden bridges that connect it to the mainland. My luck was to see it in frozen mode .. Even more impressive. It is surrounded by a park where you can walk. The interior of the castle is also very interesting and I recommend a visit.
Maria De Camillis — Google review
Absolutely stunning fairytale-esque castle, visited in March and walked the whole trail from the train station and back. Castle is very interesting with lots of exhibitions inside, well worth the entry fee. Highly recommend!
Diana Currier — Google review
The exhibition inside the castle is not the informative. There is not much stuff of the castle preserved but the reconstruction still stay true to the old image. In wintertimes, it’s a very peaceful place. The souvenir shop is the cheapest among all the touristic place I’ve been to in Lithuania. Recommend shopping gifts here.

One of the best days in Lithuania. Very well preserved castle and also impressive museum. There's a lot things to do apart of castle like boating, swimming, flying, food is fantastic too.
Juris Podnieks — Google review
It is a 12euro ticket per adult but I found it worth it. There were many well illustrated rooms showcasing bedrooms, chapels, weapons, religious relics and treasures. Really enjoyed our tour. The place also have very clean bathrooms.
Kharuna Ramrukheea — Google review
Nice, mostly reconstructed castle with an interesting audioguide (€1.10 at the Android play store) located on an island, accessible over a bridge from the shores of the lake. The entrance fee of €12 per adult (as of August 2023) is worth being paid. The views are very nice, both on the castle from the shore and also from the castle. The walk around the castle walls is free.
Andreas Heierli — Google review
Beautiful castle and well maintained.
There were lovely exhibits within the grounds and it was not too busy.
It was very difficult to travel there with a pram because of all the stairs and gravel but there is an accessible life so the venue is somewhat accessible but not fully.

Trakai Castle, located in Lithuania on an island within Lake Galvė, is a stunning medieval fortress with a red-brick exterior and Gothic architecture. It's a historical gem that offers a glimpse into Lithuania's past through its museum displays. Accessible by boat and bridge, the castle is an enchanting destination that combines scenic beauty with rich cultural heritage, making it a captivating site for history buffs and tourists.

Very great place to visit when the weather is nice. The area overall is very nice and the castle itself has a very rich history which is enjoyable to look at and experience. Certain things were repetitive, but in general we spent around 2 (maybe more hours) just walking around. I think it's definitely worth a sunday getaway.

Definitely worth a visit if you are passing by on your way to Vilnius! The castle itself is very well renovated and true to its historical appearance. The various rooms of many exhibitions about the history of Lithuania.
Johannes — Google review
The castle is really neat but it was the priciest castle I visited throughout all 3 Baltic countries. 12€ for adults and it was also a lot of random artifacts that did not pertain to the castle itself. Still cool though.
Laura Cifelli — Google review
Some of the areas and rooms are not accesible anymore (I visited it few years ago) and it's probably because of too many tourists like other tourist places but overall its still a beautiful restored castle and I recommend to visit it. Most exhibitions and the history of items or places are explained in Lithuanian and English, few more are also in Polish and Russian languages. There's also a lake around the castle and a lot of restaurants and souvenir shops
Nequs — Google review
Beautiful castle, picturesquely located on a lake. Many different exhibitions about it's history. Lovely view of the interior. Really good souvenir shop that is not to be missed. Overall it's definitely worth visiting as a day trip from Vilnius.
John Stefano Hickman — Google review
A very well preserved castle that is worth visiting. It gives you a good feel of the past and teaches a bit of history. I like how they organised it so that you go from one room to another and get to see everything without wandering around back and forth. There are also some hidden surprises 😉
Ioannis Antonakis — Google review
Cute little castle on an island in Trakai outside of Vilnius. We went on a Sunday and it was remarkably quiet and peaceful.
You cross a bridge over the lake to get to the castle island. You can then either pay for a ticket to see the castle or you can simply walk around the perimeter of the castle. We were short on time so we opted for the latter. We walked around the outside and didn’t see a single person in the middle of the day on a weekend.
We also got to enter the main castle gate and have a look at the courtyard without paying for a ticket.
Zubair Shehraz — Google review
Beautiful! Many historical antiques. It's probably too boring for children, but it's a fascinating look into the history and cultural development of Lithuania. Low admission price.
David Miller — Google review
This is a lovely castle and certainly worth a visit if you are staying in Vilnius or surrounding area. It makes a great day out. There is ample parking in the town and the castle is an easy walk. All the usual tourist souvenir shops are on the way.
The castle is in excellent condition and has a large number of exhibits from around the area over the centuries. This are arranged in the rooms, mainly in the main keep. They cover different periods in the castle’s history.
You can walk all around the castle, both around the outside and within. You can even rent a boat and go right round the outside. Some of the views across the lake are really nice, though there is nothing that really stands out. The gift shop is really good and actually cheaper than many of the market stalls in the village. I would certainly recommend a visit.
Andy Smith — Google review
Beautiful castle on an island to explore when visiting Vilnius. It's an easy 45 minutes away from the city center by car. The museum shares information about the history of the area with the castle as well as the restoration of what the castle looks like today. Probably the highlight of our trip to Vilnius.

The Gates of Dawn is a prominent landmark and pilgrimage site in Vilnius, Lithuania. The gate was built between 1503-1522 as part of defensive fortifications around the old town, which was then the capital of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania.
My favourite location for spare moment of thought and peace. So much love through centuries. 5/5 , must go place in Vilnius

The gates of dawn is fabulous from outside but go inside and it is beautiful, the icon is amazing. The church itself is stunning but unable to take photos. You must visit to see it’s beauty

A second-level church which has an archway underneath that you can walk through. At night, the arch is covered in lights, and felt quite safe.
The church was lovely, and serene. There were signs saying “no photographs” hence this post not featuring any indoor pictures of the church itself.

Truly a breathtaking sight to behold. It feels like a magical place. The fact it's the only remaining one of the gates to the old city is awestriking. You could feel the energy it radiates. You can not miss this sight when you visit Vilnius. Pictures can not transmit the true energy of this spiritual gate.

This was my first time at this Shrine. It is a very prayerful place, especially in the chapel if Our Lady. I like that she can see the holy image of Mary even from the street below.
Angela Mazzeo — Google review
Nice to see, I am sure for pilgrims it carries value, for an average tourist it's not too special but still good to visit, it's in a nice area.
Charlene Urychov? — Google review
Its enjoys plenty of good write ups , but I found this literal gate a little underwhelming. By all means enjoy the legends that some over enthusiastic guides will relate but its significance may escape many visitors. The area is packed with religious buildings which hold more interest so don't waste any time by hanging around fearing you have missed something.

A wonderful and remarkable symbol of Vilnius) Must visit 💯 The Gates of Dawn were first mentioned in 1514 and have since become one of the most important place in Vilnius. Various tours start here.
When you enter the chapel, you feel an amazing atmosphere of tranquility, and see the miraculous painting of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of Mercy. It is also called the Madonna of the Gates of Dawn or the Madonna of Vilnius. This painting was painted specifically for this chapel in the 17th century. It is known worldwide as one of the most famous Renaissance paintings in Lithuania. The painting is worshiped and regarded as magical by Catholics, Russian Orthodox and Greek Orthodox.

The Gates of Dawn was built between 1503 and 1522 as part of Vilnius' defensive fortifications.
The classical style gate continues to stand at the entrance to the Old Town, guarding the precious painting of the Virgin Mary.

Me and my wife went to great city Vilnius in the middle of this month and saw this magnificent, mega-historical old place. It was so cool to learn about its history and how many churches were around it and how many people loved it. The Gate of Dawn (Lithuanian: Aušros vartai) is a UNESCO heritage spot. It was built between 1503 and 1522 to protect the city from bad guys. It has a painting of Mary that is very special and people say it can do miracles. The painting was made around 1630 and crowned by the Pope in 1927. The gate is the only one left from the old city wall that was destroyed by the Russians in 1799. In 1702, the gate was attacked by the Swedish army, but, according to the legend, St. Mary helped the defenders to win. We liked it a lot and I recommend you to see it too.

Aušros Vartų g. 14, Vilnius, 01303 Vilniaus m. sav., Lithuania
The vibrant and well-preserved Senamiestis in Vilnius is known for its historical structures, including baroque and Gothic churches as well as the neoclassical Town Hall. The medieval Gediminas Castle Tower provides a panoramic view of the city while Vilnius University dates back to the 16th century. In narrow alleyways, small shops sell amber jewelry, wood carvings, or Lithuanian cheese.
The bohemian district of Užupis in Vilnius, Lithuania is adorned with street art such as murals and sculptures like a bronze angel and a riverbank mermaid. It also boasts the tongue-in-cheek constitution of the self-proclaimed “Republic of Užupis,” displayed on wall plaques. The area contains artists' studios, designer boutiques, cafes offering local and international cuisine, and the old Bernardine Cemetery where many notable locals are buried.
The Church of Saint Anne is a stunning gothic church located in the heart of old Vilnius, one of Lithuania's UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Constructed from thirty-three different types of clay bricks, the red hue of the church can be attributed to this unique attribute. Today, The Church of Saint Anne is grouped with neighboring Saints Francis and Bernardine Church, with tourist routes going through both.
A 520-year-old Gothic church, built of red bricks. Outside there is a small tipi tent with wooden beams that warm the tent and the atmosphere. The church is functional and has a partner activity, in addition you can enter and be impressed by it. Highly recommended

We had the chance to visit this place when we did a walking tour of Lithuania downtown centre. I’ve learned from our Tour guide that St. Anne's Church in Vilnius, Lithuania is a stunning Gothic masterpiece known for its intricate brickwork and elegant architecture. Built in the 15th century, it is a symbol of the city's rich history and a must-visit attraction for its beauty and cultural significance.

This was far & away the most beautiful landmark I came across during my time in Vilnius. Even after seeing about a bazillion European cathedrals/ churches/ chapels, etc…this one stands out.
They apparently used 33 different varieties of bricks (colors, textures, shapes & sizes) to create a sort of “flaming” facade. Come near sunset on a clear day, & be rewarded with a true sight to behold.
adrian m (Minimogul) — Google review
There is no entrance fee, but must be quiet inside. It's a sacred solemn place that you can enjoy the peaceful atmosphere and pray with others.

Stunning red brick structure nestled in the middle of Vilnius's white snow-covered streets, right next to the Bernadine Garden. You can take a peek inside for free. Don't forget to read up on the what the building has been used for in the past centuries on a plaque inside!

Unbelievably atmospheric and beautiful. The gothic architecture is very beautiful and unique. The church is very well kept and is a must see if you’re passing by!
Igors Bondarevs (anonny) — Google review
According to a well-known legend, Emperor Napoleon, after seeing the church during the Franco-Russian War in 1812, expressed a wish to carry the church home with him to Paris 'in the palm of his hand' you can understand why this was said about this church. The church has detailed sculpting and made with red brick it’s quite remarkable. Inside the church as well maintained and they haven’t tried to do many renovations so the original paintings seems to be in view and has a very gothic architecture to it. It also has a large pipe organ as well. A church not to be missed if you are in Vilnius. Highly recommend

Beautiful, gothic style church. Built in/around the 1500’s, this church is both impressive and one of a kind. If you visit, be sure to really admire both the inside and outside as it’s all really impressive and deserves the attention.

One of the most beautiful church in Vilnius for me) This church is one of the most pre-eminent examples, and probably the most unified example, of the Gothic in Vilnius. On the other hand, its architectural style combines elements of Baroque inside and Neo-Gothic (a bell tower). This mix of styles makes the building magnificent inside and out. The church is absolutely fantastic! Moreover, St.Anne's Church is taken in the UNESCO heritage list. My recommendation!

Maironio g. 8, Vilnius, 01124 Vilniaus m. sav., Lithuania
The Vilnius Cathedral, located in the heart of the old town, is a beautiful and important Roman Catholic cathedral. It features a chapel that honors Lithuania's patron saint, St. Casimir, as well as its catacombs which are popular for guided tours. The interior is relatively unadorned due to the many years of Soviet rule when decorations were stripped and it was used for various other purposes unrelated to worship.
The Cathedral Basilica of St Stanislaus and St Ladislaus of Vilnius is the main Roman Catholic Cathedral of Lithuania.
It is situated in Vilnius Old Town, just off Cathedral Square.
Dedicated to Saints Stanislaus and Ladislaus, the church is the heart of Catholic spiritual life in Lithuania.
Architectural style: Neoclassical architecture

There is also a large family park behind the buildings next to the church.

An exquisite landmark nestled in Vilnius's heart, this cathedral holds the distinction of being the country's main Catholic hub. Its history is as captivating as it is storied, dating back to pre-Christian eras.
A nighttime visit is a must, as the illuminated sight is truly enchanting.🌜

This time we visited the crypts of Vilnius Cathedral. And it must be said that when you think you know a lot about this building, it can only mean one thing - you haven't been under it yet. Although today's Cathedral was only built in the 19th century, its crypts may date back as far as the 15th century, or even earlier. If you want to find out which of the buried rulers of Lithuania have already been found and which have not yet, if you want to experience the feeling of cozy claustrophobia and hear the story of the Romeo and Juliet of the Lithuanian manor - the crypts of the Cathedral are just right for that.

Modern cathedral in the centre of Vilnius. Has a nice collection of art, sculptures. Nothing too special to mention but free to visit and have a look around when you in the centre of Vilnius. Have a small shop in the side where you could buy small figurines of angels and cherubs. Worth a visit

This place was dazzling in the dark on a cloudy winter night. Just right before the new year’s eve. Loved the vibrant lights, christmas lights and high vibes around this place. One of the well maintained and beautiful places in deed in Vilnius old town.

Vilnius Cathedral is a captivating architectural marvel, boasting impressive neoclassical design and historical significance. The grandeur of its facade and intricate interior detailing make it a must-visit cultural landmark. The serene atmosphere inside, coupled with the religious artifacts and artwork, adds to the overall experience. The cathedral square, surrounding the structure, is a charming place to stroll and soak in the city's ambiance. However, it's advisable to check for any ongoing renovations, as this might impact the full visual experience. In essence, Vilnius Cathedral offers a delightful blend of history, art, and tranquility.

It's a lovely cathedral, but compared to the multitude of other churches Around it kind of fell short of my expectations. The chaple down the back and to the right of the main altar was however a saving grace... Pun absolutely intended

It's worth the visit during the daytime and at sunset, the cross catches the light and it gives it a bit of a golden glimmer/shine. You can also walk in, attend a mass if you want to and view the interior. It's a nice spot for pictures as well

The history museum Gediminas Castle Tower in Vilnius tells the story of the city from its settlement by Grand Duke Gediminas in the 15th century to present day. The tower, which is one of Vilnius' oldest and most popular tourist attractions, offers a 360-degree panorama of the city and exhibits objects related to Lithuania's history.
What an amazing piece of history to have been able to visit. It's quite the walk heading up there so have your walking shoes on. Breathtaking views on the observation deck on top of the Castle. You have to check this place out if you ever visit Vilnius.

Great tower and once part of a very large fortified defence system that covered the entire beautiful old town of Vilnius. Stunning views from the tower and there is a half decent museum inside. €6 entry fees.

What is worth most about the tower is the panoramic view of the city. Best times are early in the morning or at sunset. Pay particular attention to the operating hours of the cable car because otherwise the ascent is by stairs (as I did).
panagiotis dimitrakopoulos — Google review
Interesting looking building. I would recommend paying to visit the tower. There is a lot of modern history here covering the struggles and efforts made by Estonia, Lithuania and Latvia in their cause to become autonomous. Lots of pictures and information available.
The view from the tower overlooking the centre is nice although in my view you can get an even better view from The Three Crosses Monument.
I would definitely put the castle in my top list of things to do in Vilnius.

We were on a snowy day of minus 8 degrees. Getting up in such a cold is not physically simple - certainly for a person living in a hot country. Reaching the top reveals an amazing view of the entire painted city. We decided not to enter the museum and the cable car did not work either.
Alonit Ronen — Google review
One of the must visit landmarks in the city.
It has a small exhibit that is worth having a quick look around but the main attraction is the tower itself.
The views from the top are of the entire Old Town and some of the rest of Vilnius and these are unrivaled.
There is a hillside train to assist people getting to the top of the hill if walking isn't possible but the only way to access the tower is stairs.

Easy hike up. You can take the stairs or pay 1€ each way up and down for a total of 2€ using the tram. Great views of the city Vilnius. Also has a museum you can enter i believe but you may have to pay i could t read the sign and honestly didn’t even bother translating.

The calling card of Vilnius) The 48-meter high tower provides an outstanding view of the capital city. You can get there on foot or take a cable car. There are some historical exhibitions inside the tower but the most important thing is that you can make unforgettable photos.

Couldn't get up to the castle because the funicular (cable car) was out and the long, winding path too icy. The museum was worth a visit. Good historical look at Vilnius.

Small, but great views around it.
You don't need to pay anything to get to the hill itself, however if you want to see the tower it's an extra charge.
The tower itself has some historical material worth exploring. There are actually two stairs, and one leads to the terrace on the top.
Overall it may be quite small. Also no restrooms in the building as far as I could tell.

Nice castle to visit in Vilnius. It offers a great view of the city from the top. Stairs are a bit steep, but just watch your step. There’s also an elevator to reach the top
Davide Rossetto — Google review
All that's left from the castle is one tower and some ruins. You can climb the tower or use an elevator, entrance is paid.
To get to the hill you can use a ferry ride for 1 € per person/ride. Or you can climb pretty steep hill and stairs to get on top. Not recommended for people with movement problem/bad knees etc. - use furnicular instead.
However, you can get really nice view of the town from here. One of the best. I would say.
Patrycja Sedláček — Google review
It’s not quite clear where exactly the entrance is, but once you walk around the perimeter, you’ll see the signs for walking up or taking the funicular. The views are wonderful, and it’s nice that paying to go up the tower is optional, so you can enjoy the top without having to pay for access. This is a must if you want to get a great view of both sides of the city of Vilnius.

Really incredible views of the city. Lovely on a clear day. The museum / tower is €6+ to enter. But worth it if you can manage to climb to the top of the tower. It is very steep. There is also a funicular that take you up and down the hill if you are unable to walk up and down. This is €1 each way.

I had the privilege of getting to the top of this tower and seeing the entire old town in Vilnius, and this is a beautiful historic castle tower that was constructed in the 1400s. It felt like I was traveling back in time and the staff here were friendly and informative when asked them questions. Anyone traveling to Vilnius for the first time must come and check this place out. 5 Stars!!

If you go to Vilnius, this is obviously the one place you should visit. Access to the mount is free. The views across the city from the top are fantastic and the whole site is interesting. Within the tower there are a few exhibits, though they could fit a lot more in, considering they charge for entry. You can either walk up or take the funicular up.
The walk on the side coming from the river is quite steep, with stairs at the top of the path. There is a much easier walk from the main square. I would certainly recommend a visit, just for the views.

The Three Crosses Monument is a hill overlooking Vilnius with three white concrete crosses that have been a symbol of the city and an integral part of the city's skyline since the early 17th century. The monument and its panoramas are also important historic sites, and symbolize Lithuania's rebirth.
I thought it would be more difficult to getcto the top of the hill of three crosses monument, but to be honest is closer than what you think. And also you could choose the natural pathway into the greens instead of the principle road for a little taste of adventure and nature touch. I found interesting Land-art there as well. From the monument you have a good view of the city from above. Definitely worths the effort. 👍🏻

Three Crosses in Vilnius is a monument consisting of three crosses on the Hill of Three Crosses. This symbolic memorial was created to commemorate national heroes and events in Lithuanian history. Three crosses are also associated with Christianity and the Catholic tradition, being a symbol of faith and spirituality. The monument was created on the site where wooden crosses previously stood, erected by believers in memory of those who died in the name of faith.

A little demanding for aged people since need to take over 300 steps to the top, (don't worth it is pretty Safe and there are chairs for rest) but it definitely worth it. When I go in sept 2022, all direction sign is blank but it is not difficult to find the way. Another point to notice is that the path on the left side of the river is more easy to walk than the right size.

Great panoramic views of Vilnius from the monument. It is a very short walk ( and climbing stairs) from the Gediminas tower ( around 20 mins). The nature walk to the monument was also amazing. There is a pagan monument fo the godess of fire on the way. Gives a peak into the pagan history of Lithuania. The resemblance of the Lithuanian names for the pagan gods to Hindu ones was astounding.
Sundar Ravikumar — Google review
Good place to enjoy a nice view of the city, there are not many other spots for such a view. The ascent is moderate, via a series of wooden steps (don't worry, the steps are not very high) you reach the small plateau fairly quickly. The crosses themselves are unspectacular, but the view is magnificent.
Mike B — Google review
A must-see Vilnius landmark, that represents the (very bloody and utmostly cruel) beginning of christianity in Lithuania. Even now the chilling winds torture you cruelly as you approach this notorious hilltop, just as the Franciscan missionaries, that ventured in to bring the light of Jesus to these pagan lands, were mercilessly tortured.

This is a must to visit! Up to the monument, there is a marked and paved trail with wooden stairs across the forest, too. And I would have imagined it is much less busy during the morning, too; I practically met no one during my walk.

Great lookout point, easy to get there, there is an asphalt road. However, it was currently closed and fenced, but it was possible to get there, and there were still quite a few people. I was there in the evening, so I had the opportunity to see Vilnius at night from that place. I definitely recommend. However, it would be better if they wrote down below the hill that it is closed and it is not possible to officially get there.

Bit of incline to get to the top but really worth climbing. There are multiple routes which you can go up from and most of them have stairs so you don’t need special shoes to go up. The Museum of Occupations and Freedom Fights in Vilnius, Lithuania is a very sad but important museum that tells the story of Lithuania's occupation by the Soviet Union and the resistance movements against it. The museum houses a vast collection of artifacts, photos, and prison cells where many Lithuanians were tortured and killed after WWII.
I can't say enough good things about this museum. A person could definitely spend an entire day here, soaking up all of the history. The best word I can use to describe it is emotional. Very interesting museum. The most thrilling and atmosphere part is basement where prisoners were kept. One of the most interesting aspects is that there are a lot of similar places still functioning in Belarus or Russia, so if you want to know what political prisoners have to deal with in those countries - just visit this museum. Also very interesting exhibition is located on 2nd floor where you can see the equipment that KGB used. Lots of devices like metal detectors and surveillance equipment.

Title: A Fascinating Journey into History at the KGB Museum in Vilnius
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I recently had the opportunity to visit the KGB Museum in Vilnius, and it was a truly enlightening experience. The museum provides a glimpse into the dark past of Soviet occupation and the atrocities committed during that era.
The most captivating aspect of the museum was undoubtedly the basement, where the cells, torture rooms, and execution chambers were located. Exploring this area was a chilling and thought-provoking experience, as it offered a stark reminder of the harsh realities faced by individuals during that period. The museum has done an excellent job in preserving and presenting this part of history, allowing visitors to gain a deeper understanding of the struggles endured by those affected. The basement section deserves special recognition for its authenticity and the emotions it evokes.
The exhibits throughout the museum are informative and well-curated, providing a comprehensive overview of the KGB's operations and the impact it had on Lithuania. The artifacts and photographs on display serve as powerful reminders of the oppression faced by the people and the resilience they demonstrated in the face of adversity. The museum effectively presents historical information, and the audio guides are a valuable resource that enhance the overall experience.
The staff at the KGB Museum were knowledgeable and approachable, willing to answer questions and provide additional insights. Their passion for preserving history and educating visitors was evident, and they contributed to making the visit informative and engaging.
One aspect that could be improved upon is the layout of the museum. At times, the flow of the exhibits felt a bit disjointed, and it was challenging to navigate through the different sections. Some additional signage or a clearer pathway would be beneficial in ensuring a smoother visitor experience.
It is important to note that visiting the KGB Museum can be emotionally intense, as it exposes the harsh realities of the past. Sensitivity and respect for the subject matter are crucial when exploring the exhibits, as they depict the suffering and trauma endured by many.
In conclusion, the KGB Museum in Vilnius offers an eye-opening and immersive journey into Lithuania's history during the Soviet occupation. The basement section, with its cells, torture rooms, and execution chambers, stands out as the most compelling and thought-provoking part of the museum. The exhibits are informative, and the staff is knowledgeable and approachable. Although the layout could be improved, the museum effectively presents a significant chapter of history that should not be forgotten. I recommend visiting the KGB Museum for anyone interested in understanding the impact of the Soviet regime and paying tribute to the resilience of the Lithuanian people.

I learned so much about the atrocities committed under Soviet occupation to Lithuania. It’s a very text heavy museum to visit so be prepared to read a lot.
It’s very interesting and takes you through various stages of soviet occupation. Allow atleast an hour and half to take in everything. Some information outlines the deportations, the killings, mass graves and the resistance (freedom fighters). The downstairs KGB prison is a harrowing and solemn experience that you should definitely walk through. You can just feel the sense of torment and horror.
I was shocked to find cells that were padded and used for torture while others were filled with ice cold water in solitary confinement. There’s also an execution room. It’s a very interesting museum to visit and I recommend it 👍🏽👍🏽

Interesting and informative museum, for sure. Contains some very sad parts of Lithuanian history during Communist rule, can’t be denied. However, deep anti-Soviet bias that is shown by the museum’s lack or downplaying of the Lithuanian (White) partisans’ involvement in antisemitic actions during the Second World War. Not much, if anything, is said about how at the beginning of the war, the Lithuanian nationalists were more than happy in cooperating with N*zis against communists and Jews in hope of getting independence - which by the way they never got, as they became a vessel of N*zi germany and ended up exterminating almost completely the Lithuanian Jewish population. In conclusion, for a museum about genocide, the Holocaust in Lithuania is very much downplayed and not mentioned and instead Soviet crimes, which by no means should be undermined, are the only thing shown throughout the museum (except for a room dedicated to the Holocaust in the cells section of the museum). Again, for a museum about such topics, as freedom and genocide, such unashamed and proud bias is shameful and only serves nationalist propaganda goals.
I recommend a visit, just to see for yourself the bias.

The Museum opened shortly after Lithuania gained its independence from Soviet Russia in 1991. The KGB operated out of this building for nearly 50 years. The basement prison remains as it was found after their departure. Interrogations, confinement, torture, exercise yard, and executions were all conducted here and seen here. Exhibitions on the upper floors deal w the "pain & dramatic times in the history of Lithuania: the loss of independence, brutal reprisals at the hands of the Soviet regime, and the bitter fight for the reestablishment of independence." Unbelievable sad and revealing 😔.
Gordon Shaffer — Google review
Interesting museum that navigates the visitor through the Lithuanian rexent history during Soviet occupation. The most spectacular exhibit is apparently the KGB prison on the basement. You can feel the horror of those that suffered there. The rest of the museum is nice however quite small. Is a must if you ate visiting Vilnius. It took around 45 minutes to see the whole museum.

The Church of St. Peter and St. Paul is a Roman Catholic church. It is the centrepiece of a former monastery complex.
The main altar is dominated by a large painting the Farewell of St. Peter and St. Paul.
There is one of two large Turkish war drums (timpano, 140 cm (55 in) in circumference) that were seized from the Ottomans in the Battle of Khotyn of 11 November 1673 and granted to the church by its founder.

Hugely recommended. It's a little off the tourist path, like a 30 minute walk from Cathedral Square, but it's really a must. You have trolleybuses that take you here if you want.

The most beautiful church in Vilnius for me) This wonderful church produces a wow effect on every visitor. You should use Google to get to the church because it is located far from Vilnius Old Town. It looks unremarkable from the outside. On the other side, the church interior is a real feast for the eyes. The church looks majestic and has a rich artistic interior decoration which seems to be too pompous. Every painting and sculpture is executed very skillfully. The huge chandelier in the shape of a giant ship in the centre of the ceiling impresses everyone who visits the church. There's a museum here too. My recommendation)

Interesting to find more about Lithuanian history, it's places and castles. Also there is a lovely town nearby with modern church, old bell tower and historical tavern.

Wild nature track for walking, nice views. Needed to cut off grass and some trees. Possibilities to see ruins of castle during work week limited
JOvi Ein — Google review
Simple walking path, it is good if have nothing to do around or need to kill the time.

Though it's just a hill now with a small museum, it's a must for anyone interested in history. Nice walk around

The castle remains are in a protective building, so it doesn't deteriorate further. It's free to enter.

Hi everyone. That's true rewies. This time Puntukas stone. Going on weekend with a god weather? Go very early. Really busy, but REALLY nice.... they r selling kebabs😂😂ok that's true but am joking. Nothing to right about, but go. For 100% it's good for kids, weather, free parking (if u gonna find it). Don't take dogs, not everywhere its allowed.
Mindaugas Virsilas — Google review
Mother of all stones. The place is massive but it could have been more interesting if they gave more history. Where they found it, how hard to put it in place and the carving of the two Lithuanian pilots, which was done in secret as Soviet Lithuania did not recognized them as heros.
Andy Hernandez — Google review
It is the second largest boulder in Lithuania. In 1943 the sculptor Bronius Pundzius completed the bas-reliefs and words from the testaments of Steponas Darius and Stasys Girėnas, the pilots that have flown across the Atlantic Ocean.
Justina Skrupskytė — Google review
You can tell the stone is ancient and has seen many souls over the centuries
Idan Segal — Google review
Nothing special about such boulder, but second largest in Lithuania. On the way to starting point of treetop walking path and tower.

Lovely park with beautiful stone.

Good place for visitors looking for nice walks especially with children. It is nice that You can hike from Anyksciai to the place. The lift only opens from Apri 1st. The view isn't something for what You dedi ate a trip or visit but nice checkpoint.

Very cozy place acctually, there is a lot if touriats around here, but it is actually nothing too much special. Of course when you see this first time it is pretty outstanding.

Tree-canopy trail complex with a walkway, an information center & a 34-m. observation tower.
This is a cool place among beautiful nature. Suitable for families too. We spent nice time here and have a lot of estetic impressions
Olga Bakharava — Google review
Lovely walk along the tree tops. It's quite short, hence 4 stars, but the views are beautiful. A nice place to spend a couple of hours in the afternoon sun.
Helen Judd — Google review
Beautifull place to visit with your family. There is a small train which can take you to Anyksčiai city centre and back.
If you want to go for a walk on the treetop path you can buy tickets downstairs or just go straight to the entrance on the mountain and buy one there.
Povilas Stonkus — Google review
Nice place to walk high even very high if you like to peak a tower. Puntukas - one of the biggest stones in Lithuanai - is also on the track. Don't take kids' strollers with you will have to climb a lot. Toilet is in the end of the track in the souvenir shop. Would be better to have one in the start as well. A few fastfood places to eat as well. More and more atractions for famimies add up on this territory.
Jonas Dovydenas — Google review
An ideal place to spend time with the family and enjoy the wonderful views and the forest
vao o — Google review
What an amazing place, the views are incredible 👏🏻 I would definitely recommend coming to see this,
Original B — Google review
Great outdoor place, especially in fall. Yes, it's true - the walking path through the trees are not long. But the view openning from the tower is enjoyable.
I recommend this place as part of trip to Anykščiai.
The start there where the Puntukas Stone is located. That by itself is the 2nd largest in Lithuania.
Sintija Simane — Google review
The trail itself is great, even if you go several times - you see something new every time. the staff had a language barrier - they didn't speak English, so it was very difficult to understand each other. there were no indications as to where the entrance really is. 4eur for adults, 2eur for students, children and seniors
Ance Nata Pilsnibure — Google review
Nice path on top of the trees. It is about 300 m long and in the end there is a watching tower.
Reene Helberg — Google review
Beautiful and well maintained structure in nature. The views are amazing and you find yourself in the middle of the Anyksciai Pinewood area. 4EUR admission for adults. Toilets and shops present. Beautiful English poems on the information boards.

It was a unique experience to walk over the forest, very attractive views from inside the tower above the bridge, the natural beauty of the area and the bridge built there. I recommend for those who like to walk in the nature, I recommend to visit the place in summer and autumn.
Alireza Ghahraman — Google review
The view is amazing. The forest is old and beautiful by itself. Liked the feeling when the path was swinging (a bit scary). Totally recommend. In my opinion the best place around Anykščiai. Price - 4 EUR for adults.
Antanas Prušinskas — Google review
Nice place to have a walk on a tree tops. Beautiful views. When it is windy, the path is swaying a bit, so it is a very strange feeling. Organized environment, parking. Hiking paths arround.
P.s. entrance price - 4eur for adults
The museum is really nice. Paintings, stuffed animals, military weapons, old woodworks, etc. Spent some time to play the video game. Recommend.
Antanas Pru?inskas — Google review
Great castle which now hosts a wide set of exhibits about the life of people in this area. We enjoyed the visit, thank you! Very nice personnel! The arsenal part is more focused on war events and items.
Cristi — Google review
Nice, tidy surroundings. Good assortment, but not great arrangement in the museum. Could be more interactive things to do, also there were no working restaurant at the moment we visited.
Diana Padvelskyte — Google review
Beautiful castle with a large museum exhibition. Entrance is €5 per person and you get to visit the museum which has three floors and the arsenal building located right next to the castle. The exhibition was interesting. The organisation of the exhibits could have been better. Also, there’s not so much history that would be specific to the Biržai region. The video in the arsenal building is poorly made. After spending 15 min watching the film we were left with so many questions. Overall it was a great 2 hours spent wandering around the museum and its beautiful garden.
ieva Kaveckiene — Google review
Key bastion fortress in the northern Lithuania that belonged to the famous Radvilos family. It is a reason to visit Biržai.
darius savolskis — Google review
Very nice and interesting exposition. Professional guides. Needed more time to visit the restaurant. Nice panorama
JOvi Ein — Google review
The outdoors of the castle is nice and well taken care of. However the museum exposition is quite poor, seems like it was placed many random things. Arsenal part was most interesting. Staff was really helpful and nice, they were directing us through entire our visit.
Virginia Batuleviciute — Google review
Entrance ticket cost to Castle inside where is located museum- 5eur. Around castle is nice and well maintained garden with nice view to lake. The museum is old fashioned with exposition which consist almost only on all kind of old stuff and junk. Nothing entertaning. Castle interior is plain, if you enjoy architecture or interior, inside there is not nothing impressive and worth seeing. The best view and experience is exterior and garden with amazing location.
Kristaps Kalnozols — Google review
Not a castle at all, but more like a hall/palace. Only 5 euro entry to the Birzai museum, but we were not interested. The grounds are quite boring, no flower beds. Did like the nearby beach by the lake.
Jovita L. — Google review
Important note: this is first of all a museum - a really good one. As a castle is really nothing special because of very simplistic design and not so perfect condition. Still, for only 5€ you can see a lot of Lithuanian history in one place and that makes it worth it.
I wish they would fill the ditch surrounding the castle with water, it is very rare these days to find this type of fortifications. I could also see they are working on some outdoor things which will only make it better in the future.
Josip Rosandić — Google review
Very nice place. You could walk around the castle and get amazing view over Birzai. The entrance still has old entrance and looking good. There was some construction work around area. We were in the evening, so the castle was closed but we will definitely go inside next time.
Marius Matonis — Google review
It’s very nice place, beautiful palace. Nice surroundings, just by the lake.
Raimond — Google review
The castle has been restored quite well. The area around is also tidy, clean and nice. The museum inside has some interesting items, though I'd like to see some more. Biržai area has a rich history after all
Nice place. A lot of beers available here. And not only beers. There are also meat and cheese. Prices are low, quality is high.
Andris Leja — Google review
It was a gastronomic revelation and that is why we visited the restaurant two days in a row! Its' interior reminds a manor-like appartments, the food is superb and variety of beers could be served in jars - which provides an opportunity to have a small tasting ceremony.
Tomas Mikalauskas (Tomciutka) — Google review
Very nice program: Nice presentation, good food and beer, perfect atmosphere!
rimvydas baronas — Google review
Nice food for a good price. Tried the beer plate. Most of the beer was nice. The salad and pork were good. Salad 6.80 EUR. Pork with grilled vegetables and potatoes 10,50 EUR. Large beer (500 ml) - 2,50 EUR.
Antanas Prušinskas — Google review
We had a great time there! And food was lovely.

Good place for people with no taste? The fish was terrible, half of the ingredients in the menu are not there when the dishes are served. Though the dessert was good.

Have many kinds of locally brewed beer, while only one non-alcoholic option. Both outside and inside seats availible. Food is good, bur service might be better :) We wanted to take out our beer and instead of this we were suggested to go first and by an empty bottle from nearby shop. That was ridiculous :)
Sigitas Sulcius — Google review
Amazing beer tasting experience combined with really great food! Totally worth visiting when in Birzai area. Plus there is a shop on premises with total selection of Rinkuskiai beer, including those mixed beer tasting kits.
Vidas Danielius — Google review

Best restaurant in the area. A cheap day lunch with soup and main course (up to 5 eur) will never remind you a canteen food. And the menu food is jus fantactic. Average price 11euros
Ruins of a Livonian Order castle built in stages from 1443 & a later palace above the river.
Very nice and beautiful place. Entry ticket 5€ only. Loads of things to see. Must visit place if you are in Bauska. Loads of different exhibitions, proper old ruins, loads of renovated buildings. Friendly staff, speak Latvian, Russian and sometimes even English. Absolutely amazing place. You can go also with the kids. Can walk around the castle, along the river. Best time to visit - Latvian autumn. Trees around have millions of different colours, looks like you are on different planet. If you are there, somewhere not far from Bauska, you MUST to visit this place
Ruslan — Google review
The castle itself is nice but the museum part doesn’t have much to offer. Interior is refreshed and looks well taken care of however exposition is very poor.
Virginia Batuleviciute — Google review
It requires time to explore. I suggest around 2-3 hours. There are several parts in the castle and if you have time, you will get a chance to dive into the history of this place.
It was renovated and it looks fantastic. I took my time there and also explored the surroundings which are really beautiful.
There is a person in every part of the castle who puts the hole on your entrance ticket; these holes allow you enter the section or the part of the place.
It is easy to get there from the center of the city and it is quite close. At the entrance to the castle there is a cafe where you can grab some food or drink.
You can pay extra and have a private guide or get an audio guide with a suitable language.
Don't miss walking around the castle. It is located next to the river and the views are fantastic!
Julia Maakar — Google review
The castle is situated on a hill, above the river, which completes the magical atmosphere of the castle. The castle is beautiful but you will not know anything about it, as everything is only in Latvian. No English ... Even the ladies who worked there do not know English at all. That's a big minus. Without guided tour of the castle
Lenka L. — Google review
Worth a visit if you are exploring this region of Latvia. You can go up to the tower for a very small fee 1,5 EUR.
Jozef Jonas — Google review
This is somewhere just for a short visit, but nice to see. A lot of it is reconstructed, so you don't get much of an antiquated feel

Beautiful medieval castle is located on the banks of the picturesque river
Elena — Google review
I was surprised to see such a beautiful castle and interesting museum in a little town.
Loved workers dressed in medieval clothes, in one part of the museum you need to put slippers on to walk on beautiful floor. You can see everything from cellars, kitchen, bathroom, tower.
sandra d — Google review
It's a bit on the expensive side in comparisson with say Rundales Pils which is nearby, considering most of it is rather empty. However it's still worthwhile, specially considering the tower and the ruins part, which really take you places in your imagination. Also the location on top of the hill renders some breathtaking views.
Jurijs Kastanovs — Google review
been there many years ago - when it was only remains of the old castle.
Now it is completely rebuilt, also still keeping old heritage - well balanced exhibition, - very interesting to explore, filling all the needs of different types of tourists :)
Donatas Oželis — Google review
Amazing castle and the exposition inside. Lots of interesting to see. Got to have at least two hours to see it all. Highly recommended!
Jomantas Padgurskas — Google review
A really beautiful castle and museum ...tells the story of the livland wars as many other castles..
This castle can stand on its own, but seeing other castles in the area will greatly enhance the feeling of the struggle in livland
Thomas S. Iversen — Google review
Haven't been here since childhood (around 15 years), and it was such nice surprise what they did here. Ticket price is very low for what offered inside, you can read, feel and touch history all around. Addition to that very nice location and view.

I would like to give all stars possible sadly can give only 5.
Rundāles Palace is amazing, must see if you're visiting Latvia, or just an ordinary latvian. Take a tour guide you won't be disappointed.
Rose garden and occasional garden events are amazing too. They have tour 'train' now which is great option added in order to have an insight of the historical events and other garden related scenes for just a 3€ for 20min ride, I would also recommend it.

We spent about 1h in the gardens and 1h30 in the castle (quick visit, you can spent much more time if you read all the information), so 2h30 would be the minimum to plan.
There was an event preparing in the garden so chairs and a stage were on the way, but I think it is cool to have events in such a place.
There are many rooms in the castle, all magnificently decorated. We just missed a map to know all what there is to see and to be sure to see everything, because I think we missed some parts because we did not find the way…

Worth a trip! Frankly, I was a bit sceptical about driving all the way here from Riga, but I am glad I came here. The scale of this palace is bigger than I thought, and there is a lot to see and enjoy.
The digital guide which we connect to our phone was really useful, and it helped me understand each of the room better. We would need at least 2-3 hours to tour around the whole palace and have a coffee or lunch in its cafeteria downstairs.
The only thing that kind of bothered was the way to the palace was all very muddy, and I hope they improve on this.

Beautiful castle and gardens. Excellent audio guide (download for free, free WiFi available throughout the property, don't forget to bring your headset). Major refurbishment work had to be done as the property was not adequately maintained during the communist occupation.

There’s parking near the castle, a short walk over probably 10 minutes. You can purchase ticket in the building before the castle. You can bring your own earbuds for audio during the tour. There’s different sections in the castle for you to view.

You would ask, why only 2 stars added to such a beautiful place like this! It’s the staff!!! Rude, very unwelcoming and the staff couldn’t wait for us to leave! Giving us a stare like we have done something to them personally! Frankly, anyone who’s working there shouldn’t be working In such a beautiful place like this which such a stinking attitude like the staff who worked that day! The place itself is great and highly recommended to visit or to enjoy the beautifully painted sealing which capsulate the exquisite Baroque style paired with, modern at that time period, interior design!
P.S. The staff should be humbled and very grateful to work there as well as to make sure the visitors are feeling very welcome!

A really cool museum. If you like museums and history this is a must visit. You can buy a ticket to visit the museum that includes a tour guide and if you want to visit the gardens you have to get an extra ticket. There are some shops around but not much choice.

Iconic place, you should not omit this place when visiting Latvia. There is huge and free parking lot, restaurats etc.

There is possibility to park in free working lot and then walk to ticket office. There are tickets for temporary exhibitions, the palace and the gardens. The palace was built by German origin dukes and then soon taken over by tsarist Russians. The interiors are very elegant.
The gardens are huge and beautifully arranged and maintained. Different types of flowers and bushes to enjoy a walk through. Separate ticket required.

A stunning palace with fascinating history. Getting a guide is a must - ours was simply superb and brought the palace to life with her incredible knowledge and storytelling!
The gardens are gorgeous too!

It is one of the best palaces I have seen in Europe. There are 138 rooms, and it can take up to half or whole day, depending on your interest, to visit and enjoy each and every room. The rooms have different colors and designs and they are very beautiful. The garden is also gorgeous and has so many different flowers. The garden can also take up to a few hours. The Palace has a restaurant on the ground floor when you exist on the 2nd floor. I would highly recommend visiting this beautiful palace.

A very nice place to go visit. Only nitpick is perhaps it is too big ... if you really want to consume the story or the paintings or even the gardens outside, then you need more than a day.... this place is huge
That said it is beautiful, spectacle and really full of nice and interesting stories and items..
Definitely worth a visit.. both the gardens and the museum itself

Magnificent Palace ❤️worth to visit
13€ it's more than a fair price for the Palace and the gardens 2 hours of a fairy tale. It's the number 1 spot to visit in Latvia
Very well-preserved palace and gardens, knowledgeable staff, a nice coffee shop and souvenir shop
Few car parks around and also a few guest's houses with good food and not too cheap prices.
Have fun

Beautiful palace. Highly recommend for anyone who is keen on atmospheric places and wants to take some fantastic photos.

A must see when in Latvia. The territory is huge.
Make sure to have enough time to visit it all. 3 hours is enough if you just want to see beautiful places without delving too much into its history and the whole lore.
The garden, on the other hand, was a little bit underwhelming (some parts seemed neglected). Altogether worth its price:)

Beautiful downtown church with a blue and white exterior and a pink and blue heavily decorated interior.
When I visited on a Friday, the church was completely open and free to look around.

Extremely beautiful temple - inside and outside! It's also nice that they let you take pictures inside, which I could not in others!!...

Beautiful orthodox church on the way from the railway station to the city centre
Nikolas Belalis — Google review
This Cathedral has a divinely charming exterior and a simple, not "too sophisticated", but yet almost unworldy interior. Visiting this church and especially watching the liturgies and services would be a great cultural and spiritual experience.
Sergejs Ivanovs — Google review
Best Orthodox cathedral I've seen so far. It's a like a bit of Santorini transferred to the cold lands of Latvia. The inside is very peaceful. There are icons of different saints with Cyrillic inscriptions.

Quaint yet beautiful church. I watched a group baptism.
Jelgava is a state city in central Latvia about 41 kilometres southwest of Riga. It is the largest town in the region of Zemgale. Jelgava was the capital of the united Duchy of Courland and Semigallia and was the administrative center of the Courland Governorate. Wikipedia.

Jelgava St. Trinity Church Tower
Sights & Landmarks
Tourist information center
Churches & Cathedrals
A historic symbol of unity and freedom. The Church of the Trinity destroyed by the Russians in the mid 1950's. They kept the 13th century tower to use for military action. Now a museum where you can traverse to the 9th floor and view Jelgava. Weddings are held there. Three today on Friday. The 8th floor has a restaurant where I plan to have dinner before getting the train back to Riga. The other floors are museum displays. One on the folk songs of Latvia, another on the needle work, common dress and basket making. the history from prehistoric times was also told with information about an archaeological dig that was held at the tower. All of this for 1 euro for seniors 2.50 euro for adults. I do not recommend for children except for very short stays not very much to hold their attention.

Not much to see there! The digital expositions are just ok. The view of the city at the top is not any great as the metal structure and the glasses disturb the view. Pictures are not worth up there, as you can see in one of my pics. Just the outside view of the tower is interesting.
Paulo Vieira — Google review
I enjoyed my time here very much. I knew nothing about Jelgava before, now I see it differently. The museum is modern and definitely worth a visit.

Lovely place for a nice view from the top... very impressive history of the costume video installation and many more
Olga Fedox — Google review
I didn't expect this place to be so interesting! There are only 4 floors of thd tower open but each floor has a room with something interesting to find out. There is a floor dedicated to the city history, the church and Jelgava fashion. The 9th floor is a cosy place made of glass where you can seat and enjoy the view of the city.
The 8th floor is the restaurant.
The entrance fee for adults is 2.50€. There is WC and the elevator.
Do spend some time in each room: it's worth it, especially the fashion room. They show a short video about fashion changing through the years.
Recommended for visiting 💯%

You can go all the way up and see Jelgava from above. There are interesting and interactive exhibitions - perhaps some are more fitting for children rather than adults - on several floors about Jelgava. The fashion one was my favourite. There is a lift and a toilet there. Only downside was the heat on the observation deck… It was crazy hot there 🥵
Petra Holland — Google review
An interesting historical place in the middle of Jelgava.
The tower can be reached by elevator and at the very top of the tower is an art gallery, which this time had an exhibition of wall rugs.
Below the gallery is a very charming little restaurant.
The restaurant had good and cheerful service.
Unfortunately, the meals did not live up to expectations. The steaks we ordered were really dry and tough.
In any case, it's worth going to the tower to look at the art and views of the city.
Tapani Teittinen — Google review
My experience with this restaurant is excellent. Just the fact that its entire area is very small, up to 5 tables. The view is quite nice of the city. And the food is simply excellent - both in taste and quality. You can eat very well for up to €50.
Edgars Jonaitis — Google review
Beautifully renovated tower. On the top you can oversee the whole city through the glass roof. On some levels exhibitions. While on the level with clocks you will find great restaurant. During lunch hours you can try simple, but very interesting lunch offers. In the evenings you can have nice dinner. Tasty choices for vegetarians. Interior fabulous.

Nice view on the observation deck of the tower on the 9th floor. Only $1 euro per person to take elevator up. We took the stairs down to visit the gallery and had lunch on the 8th floor. Beautiful decor and relaxing atmosphere. The frog legs, snails & mussels were all yummy.
We had a lovely day with my sister exploring different areas of the National Botanical Garden. We really enjoyed conservatory with all the expositions, and great greenhouse collection. I paid €8 to see the Botanical garden and also the conservatory. And there is plenty pathways to go for walks and see the garden all together. They also opened the new Botania - plant kingdom. There are toilets in main buildings and there are lots of places to explore with kids.

Interesting place to visit. I visited night time with fancy lights, but I think daytime visits would be nicer.

Easily one of the highest variety of plants, flowers, bonsais, trees, flowers and flora you could find in a national botanical garden. Classes available (with reservations) for school classes, massive sprawling park to walk around, a small children playground for outdoor entertainment, and a small lake to circumvent. An easy 30 min drive straight south from Riga, and parking available upon entry.
Brennan Davis — Google review
Big gardens with variety of flowers. Green houses with different exotic plants and few reptiles and fish. Small playground for children. Good place for family in a good weather for couple of hours.

It's a total gem for nature lovers! Bursting with an incredible range of plants, it's the perfect spot to take a leisurely stroll and soak up the beauty. Whether you're hanging out with your squad or family, it's a fantastic place to chill and enjoy some quality time together.

Pleasant gardens, although our visit was on a rainy day. The cactus greenhouse was worthy. Gardens are located right by the station, with trains every hour or so from riga
Tom (Bozz) — Google review
Little further from the city but easy to access with the train and plus they do discount if you show your train ticket. Love to explore botanical gardens where I travel to enjoy the nature and explore more and more plants. Territory is big and marked well in the map however we didn’t get information at some part of the places, some part is just forestry. Their conservatory is not open during Mondays and Tuesdays hence don’t miss it :)

Miera iela 1, Salaspils, Salaspils pilsēta, Salaspils novads, LV-2169, Latvia
Somber Nazi prison-camp memorial with several abstract sculptures, concrete walls & exhibits.
Was great to learn something new, which hasn't been teached in history class. At least this wasn't. Heartbeat gives chills. Inside there was a little ultrasound coming from the text plate, but it wasn't so bad. Stone statues look great, and inside the building you get an explanation what they mean.

It you're interested in the history of Riga and unfortunately the pain they had to suffer, this is a most visit, pay respect and learn more about their history. There's a small museum, with exhibits in different languages. There are giant sculptures that tower over you and are a site to see, with explanation about them in the museum. We've only seen it during the winter and covered in snow, which gave it a rather beautiful image, so can't comment what it's like without.
FYI: there's one toilet for all in the entire place, in a little cabin. I'm adding this because I think it's good to know. After exploring such a space, you may need to relieve your bladder. We spent nearly 2 hours here.

We took the train from Rīga to train station Dārziņi. Crossed the railway. Then passed the station building. On it's right side there is sign that shows direction of Salaspils Memorial Ensemble. We had to walk about 2km. The Ensemble is very impressive and well kept...There is also museum that shows the history, photographs and personal items ...

Responsibility is yours to respect its surroundings, its not a holiday its a memorial where individuals suffered on a daily basis under the hands of Germans

Worth a visit and watch the videos in the memorial too. Only thing I wasn't keen on was the exhibition on how they built the memorial, it didn't seem fitting but maybe that's just me.

Unique memorial. It was easy walk around the site and the building had a museum tucked inside of it explaining the history of the site.
