Part of the Schloss Mondsee, this Basilika was where , in which the wedding scene of Maria and Baron Georg von Trapp was filmed from Sound of Music. Be prepared for the beautiful and macabre sights that await you in this lovely cloister church.

A beautiful Basilica in a nice little town. Worth a visit if you are traveling Austria or just passing by. If you’re a movie fan, you know why this place is famous. If not, it is still beautiful and worth a quick stop. It was free to go in, and there was a free Water Closet on the other side of the square.

Beautiful church which was featured in The Sound of Music.
Very soothing and relaxing looking at the grand surroundings of the church and there is also a nice gifting shop attached to it.

Beautiful and a perfect ending to the Sound of Music tour!
Rebecca Penn — Google review
Absolutely beautiful church with a different style. The pinks and florals were nice, and the 5 skeletons in the alter are a cool touch! There’s a lovely little Christmas market right outside during the winter.
Landon Fillmore — Google review
Beautiful catholic church in the centre of the town... The external architecture is calm and the inner carvings are indeed pretty. The colourful streak of buildings outside the church boundaries gives the whole area a very warm and jolly feel. There's a great souvenir shop too onside...a little expensive though. This church is a must visit when close by..
SACHIT VARMA — Google review
Nothing special from the exterior, but a beautiful interior in soft pastel pinks makes up for it. Famous because Julie Andrews and Christopher Plummer got fake married there.
I really wanted to see the cage where they locked up the nuns during the wedding scene, but couldn't find it. Movie magic, I guess!

Beautiful beautiful even if u dont like Sound of Music .as i dont ..it was wonderful to visit

A "must-see" for anyone retracing the steps of the "Sound of Music" movie. This is the church where the "Maria Problem" was finally solved, both in the movie and in real life.
Nathan Voges — Google review
Always enjoyed the Sound of Music and lit a candle for my mother and grandmother as this was their favorite movie. This was the church they were married in during the movie. Beautiful church.
Vicki Bailey — Google review
The wedding of the Von Trapps was filmed inside this church for the Sound of Music but the real couple didn’t get married here. It’s a lovely church with a nice gift shop and large plaza in front. Plenty of cute shops nearby including ice cream, cafes, and souvenir shops. It’s easy to pass a few hours here.
L P — Google review
I went there on the sound of music tour. This is the actual church where the wedding in the movie was officiated.
Besides the sound of music trivia, this church is an impressive testimony of art. If you happen to be in Mondsee or around the area I recommend you visiting it.

Such a wonderful church the inside is so nice. Love the town that its in. A must see! The church in the sound of music.
Farley G — Google review
This is the cathedral where Captain von Trapp married Maria in the Sound of Music. The outside is Ok and we were trying to figure out out of all the beautiful churches in Austria what they would choose this one. I think part of it is the proximity to the Mondsee Lake where they filmed the boat ride and the bike ride. I also think the central doors and the grand stairs leading up to the alter were very grand. The art was over the top decorative. We went for a Sunday mass and the choir and organ were wonderful. They concluded the service with a wine gathering outside. I think that was unique to this Sunday but how do I know? They literally spent 15 minutes off the service talking about their wine venture and the priest blessed a huge cask.

Beautiful town, fabulous Basilika, a must visit for sound of music fans as this is the location for the wedding of Maria and the Captain in the film. Really wonderful food and cafe bars set against the Mountains and lake.

Went there for the first time today. You can have a great swim, but if it's like today, at some point you have to close it because of overcrowding. Unfortunately we didn't have much space left at the end. We also had a couple of boarders in front of us where he was apparently too lazy to get an ashtray for his butts and threw them on the grass. These are the points where it needs to be better, otherwise it's great.

Great place for families on a hot day. Parking is free (300m from the beach entrance). Entrance is relatively cheap (~3€ per child, 5 per adult). You can spend the entire day on the well maintained facilities. This lake beach includes water slides, trampoline (in the water), 3 and 5m jumps, in-water climbing wall and much more. You can relax on the wide grass surface and the cafeteria offers nice drinks.
Yuval Dafna — Google review
There is a bufet with surprisingly tasty french fries a grilled chicken, but what is really fantastic about this place are the water atractions. My favorite was the jumping platform which was quite high. These atractions make it a great place to visit with kids or teens.
Jonaaas 608 — Google review
Wonderful beach on the lake with excellent facilities, lots of options for kids to have fun, like a nice sand area, water slides, splash pool for small kids, floating trampoline and others. There is a canteen which offers decent food (pizza, sausage, Pommes) in affordable prices.
There is a large parking area right outside.
Can definitely recommend it!

I am in love with this lake! I’ve gone multiple times and I want to keep going back. The variety of in-water entertainment available keeps your mind occupied, but you also get a chance to relax on the several floating docks situated around the Schwimmbad. Everyone should go here if they have the chance to, it’s only €7 for admission (€5 after 13:00)!

Lovely spot, right near Mondsee city centre, really close to a lot of parking lots.
We drove 20 minutes from Salzburg to reach this place, quite near to the city.
It is very complex, it has a small library, different spots to take a swimming, diving decks and a lot of greenery with trees.
Loved it. Will definitely come here more often.
The water is crystal clean and the view with the mountains& hills is amazing.

Was Wasserski oder so kostet weiß I leider nimma.

It's super beautiful there. There is a lot on offer for children. Diving tower, raft, trampoline on the water, slides (unfortunately closed because Mondsee, like many other lakes, doesn't have that much water at the moment) so for children from 6 years old to 14 or 16 years old the entrance fee is actually 3 euros but because the slides were closed only 1 euro ,50 Euros. Water skis or water waves are also offered separately and can be pulled with tires. Unfortunately, I don't know how much water skiing or something like that costs. Tires cost 10 euros for adults and 9 euros for children up to 14 years old, the prices are totally fine. The prices at the kiosk are also really reasonable. We will go there again. When it comes to parking, if you get there on time you will definitely get a parking space in front of the bathroom. Unfortunately we were a little late. 1 hour 15 minutes after opening we had to park on the other side of the street for free.
Altstadt Salzburg, also known as the old town, is a bustling area filled with history and culture. Getreidegasse, a charming pedestrian street, is lined with shops selling traditional costumes and antiques. Visitors can explore Mozart's Birthplace to learn about the composer's early life or visit the Domquartier to see the stunning Salzburg Cathedral and baroque Residence featuring art by renowned artists.
A huge, 11th-century fortress complex on a hilltop with breathtaking views over the city to the Alps is an unforgettable visitor experience. The fortress also offers one of the largest Medieval castles in Europe, with an exhibition space of over 335,000 square feet in 50 buildings.
Great place to visit when in Salzburg. You can walk up but we chose to take the funicular railway, which was fun. We bought the €13 basic ticket which was good value. It gives you return trip on the funicular railway as well as entry into most of the small museums. Museums were wonderful lots of interactive exhibits and easy to understand explanations. Great for kids and adults alike. A must visit when in Salzburg.

Absolutely amazing and a romantic experience! The short train ride up to the castle was fun. The views from the top looking down over this romantic little city was breathtaking. Inside the Fortress were highly interesting exhibitions. Great food and friendly staff. Just perfect for couples and families with children. Can't wait to go back.

Spent our last few hours in Salzburg hiking up to the Fortress. It was a great way to spend the morning. I really enjoyed learning about the centuries of change the fortress went through. I would recommend walking up, so you get a really good idea of why the fortress was so strong. The hill is long and steep. Seeing the three different gates makes a big impression as to the strength of the place.
George Sorrells — Google review
Amazing views of the area from the fortress. We would have loved to have a bite at one of the restaurants as the views from the tables were stunning especially on such a beautiful when we were there. There are a number of attractions to see in the fortress, some for additional cost. It is worth the time to make your way up.

This castle is amazing and so large!
On a rainy day, it is still a great option as an ax activity for the day. There are so many museums inside. I would also highly recommend walking the Panorama Tour at the top for a beautiful view of Salzburg. Paying for the Basic ticket to take the funicular to the top, walk the panorama tour, was highly worth it even on a rainy day!
kelly schofield — Google review
This is an excellent tour with lots to offer for the price you pay to enter. The funicular up the hill is fast and fun. The fortress is in impeccable shape with several interesting museums that catalog the development and use of the fortress from medieval times through WWI. There is even a small puppet museum too. There are great views of Salzburg and the surrounding valley. We had a great time.

A must see if you're visiting Salzburg. Great for adults and kids (I took my 10 and 13 yr old). Definitely get tickets for all areas. It cost us 49 euros for a family of 4 and you get access all areas.
The walk to the top of the prison tower was great! Views were amazing.
The condition this fortress is in, is unbelievably good.
Definitely get the funicular train to the top, it's excellent.
Could do with better sign posting to help you get around better and maybe some more staff on site, so we can ask questions.
Overall, a brilliant experience and well worth doing.

Lovely day out, there's a train to take to the top (and back). Amazing views from the top. We paid for all inclusive day ticket but the museums weren't that interesting inside. Absolutely beautiful castle though!

Seeing a true middle ages castle, along with the lifestyle, customs and ruling of it is truly an amazing experience.
The castle features a lot of stuff: from sightseeing at the top of the keep tower, to how peasants were imprisoned in the dungeon and how the castle was built, history around it and a museum.
This has been a big dose of history for me, so for any enthusiasts out there looking to learn a bit of history during their trip, i totally recommend this place.
Andrei Oprescu — Google review
A place full of history. A castle that was never conquered. Several stages of time and many stages of tools and weapons. The view is amazing and it is very organized. You need plenty of time to see everything and it deserves. I really enjoyed and visited everything, however I haven’t read everything as this will make you spend a full day there. It is a must see place in Salzburg.
Wajdy Shalghin — Google review
What an amazing medieval castle perched above the city of Salzburg. There's a free guided walking tour in the morning for a bit of history and to get your bearings of the castle. There are many exhibitions and useful information around the castle. There's a spectacular view of the city and make sure you don't miss the organ which plays everyday at set times.

I spent €10.80 on a basic ticket. It is a "must visit" attraction if you are interested in taking photos. But if you are interested in history if the fortress, you may find a bit disappointed with the description as some of them are in German only.
Egbert Lai — Google review
We used the funicular to get up as it was a very hot day. Great views over the city and an interesting walk around the fortress. We ate at the panorama restaurant at the top of the funicular and the food was delicious. It suddenly became very, very windy just as we sat down to eat which of course, stopped not long after we finished our food!
We had the Salzburg card so admission was free.

An imposing structure that sits proud above Salzburg. We spent a very pleasant hour ambling around the outer portions of the building. We did not try the museums as we were running late, but just walking around was interesting, and they had some fun little diversions around that the kids could try. There were some stunning views across the city to the mountains, and weaving and winding stairs and corridors. We took the funicular railway up and down (which in itself was fun) and added to the experience.
Charlie Kinloch — Google review
We visited this place on a Tuesday morning. We took the bahn to reach the fort. The entry was free because we had Salzburg card. It was not crowded in the morning, with time there was lot of people. It was an interesting place and has a great view of the city. The staff inside the place were very helpful and guided us well and also made us register for contract tracing. There is also washroom in the place which is well maintained. I would definitely recommend visiting this place.

Very different fortress, as big as a village itself. The carriage ride to take us to the castle on top of the mountain was a fun part itself. The original palace goes back to 370 AD. The castle has been extended and renovated many times trough history. There are magnificent royal room on top of the castle. Worth visiting for sure.

It definitely exceeded my expectations. I have not been everywhere inside, but I can assure you that the castle is really big. Most of all, I was struck from different sides of the site and beautiful views. If you are interested in seeing the whole of Salzburg, then this is definitely here. Also inside there is a considerable castle courtyard.
Roman Trach — Google review
Good views and interesting history around how the castle was made. There's a funicular up and down and you pretty much need the full ticket with all the add-ons to experience the castle fully.
Manoj Sunny — Google review
The castle is very pretty, panoramic views are highlights of the tour. The history of Salzburg described well with the model demonstrations. Funicular tickets to be purchased at the start, which serves the round trip. Best to visit during morning time as the number of visitors are less, can spend around an hour or 2 exploring castle.

Must visit in Salzburg. The funicular was short but still fun. The view from the fortress is marvelous and it gives you a good perspective of the city of Salzburg. The place also has a museum, view tower and some restaurants. Overall it was a fun EXPERIENCE and educational.

The fortress is spectacular. It dominates the city from afar and as you get closer you realize how massive it is.
Loved the ramparts walk, the museums. The view from atop is just breathtaking especially on a clear day. You can see the Alps surrounding Salzburg and a cool view on the city as well.
The fenicular is included in the entry price, so you can ride down to the city after the visit.
I recommend hiking up, using the trails from the north side.

Children will like it!
Also the view from the tower is awesome.
You should consider to take the train to the top and then walk down the hill. The cable train is nice.

This is a must if you're visiting Salzburg. The fortress is one of the most characteristic places in the city.
It is very well preserved, with a lot of museums and rooms to visit. It also offers an amazing view above the city.
I really enjoyed the many snippets and videos scattered around the place. They provided a lot of historical anecdotes and gave us some glimpses of life back in the middle ages.
You can reach the fortress with a funicular or on foot. I recommend walking up there only if you have the endurance for it. The trail is quite steep at times.
I also recommend booking the tickets in advance online. There are always a lot of people going there and having already the tickets drastically reduces the wait in line.

It's worth visiting this fortress. There's so much you can see here and learn more about the history of Austria. The views from the fortress are breathtaking. The entry fee is €18 per person. After you have bought the ticket, you can take the shuttle train to get to the fortress.

Great place to visit. What they don't tell you until you climb the big hill to get there is that it costs to just get in the grounds. Its worth it just for the views though to be honest gazing over the alps especially during sunset was lovely.
I would recommend a visit if in Salzburg for a stay.

Easy to spend 1.5-2 hours here. The views are spectacular, and museums mostly good.
State Rooms: They are beautiful (particularly ceilings and walls), but I hadn’t realized there were only 3 rooms to see. Interesting but only took 5 minutes to see.
Main museum: An interesting mix of general history and historical life, but found the super basic English signs to be distracting. (They sound as if they were written for 5 or 6 year olds.)
Regimental Museum: An interesting 6-8 rooms on military history in Salzburg given the regiment based there, particularly focusing on 1800-1918.
Marionette museum: Two rooms with about puppets with signs in English, German, and Italian. Cute but in and out in 5 minutes.
Purchasing tickets is easy either online or in person, the this ticket will need to be scanned before entering the funicular and various museums at the top.
Toilets were quite clean in/near museums.
Cafe: Service wasn’t great whilst waiting but nice to have option.

This castle is beautiful enough to be said to be artistic. We can not only know the architecture of that time, but we can also know the culture of that time by seeing the castle and the building of castle. We can enjoy a meal, looking at the downtown of Salzburg from the restaurant in the castle. I recommend that you enjoy it with enough time.

Stunning and beautiful place, the artwork throughout is wonderful. If you have an interest in architecture and/art, then visit this Cathedral. However, our second visit was to enjoy the well advertised 30 minute Midday Music session for just 6 Euros per person, and unfortunately, it was a disappointment. The idea is to demonstrate the many organs (5) culminating in the massive main organ. The religious readings far exceeded the music, and only about 10 minutes was actually played. We like HUNDREDS of others who attended did not seem that impressed. Shame, it was good while I lasted.

The St. Rupert Cathedral in Salzburg is Baroque in style.
It was in this cathedral that Mozart’s baptism took place.

However, the visit is essential when visiting the center of Salzburg.

The cathedral is beautiful, with very exquisite ceilings and an unusual four organs in the four column corners up front. The crypt is ok though not tons to see. I wish there was a little more information or history around given the €5 entry, but is still probably worth a stop if in Salzburg.

One of the highlights of Salzburg, the cathedral is glorious although not quite in the highest tier of Catholic cathedrals. Never the less, if you're in Salzburg there is absolutely no excuse not to visit and spend the better part of an hour taking in the neoclassical splendour. The line for entry can get rather long - I popped into the nearby Franziskanerkirche for a while and came back a half hour later and it was shorter. Still, I doubt you're going to get in without some line.

As you approach its grand façade, you're immediately struck by the awe-inspiring presence of this historic landmark. The interior is equally breathtaking, with ornate decorations, magnificent frescoes, and stunning stained glass windows that fill the space with light and color. Whether you're admiring the intricate details of the Baroque architecture or attending a service to experience the uplifting music and spiritual atmosphere, Salzburg Cathedral offers a profound sense of reverence and wonder. As one of the city's most iconic attractions, it's a must-visit destination for anyone exploring Salzburg's rich cultural heritage and timeless beauty.

Great ornated cathedral well worth the entry fee. Come at noon for an organ concert from some of their 7 organs. Also get a good history of the cathedral
Mozart's Birthplace is a museum detailing the young life of Wolfgang Mozart. It includes items from his family, as well as replicas of some of his furniture and instruments. The museum is popular with tourists, who can learn about Mozart's life through artifacts and experiences on tours.
Interesting museum with a lot of items on display. The most impressive item is an replica of historic grand piano and be able to hear what piano sounded like hundreds of years ago (nothing like a modern day Steinway grand piano by the way) is very interesting.

Nice museum, but a bit empty and lacking a few too many original documents and items. The concept of the museum is nice though and the exibition pictures Mozart and his family in an interesting way.

Well described museum. All signs English and German (Austrian). Lots of new facts about Mozart’s life and family. (Sister was new to me). It’s a lot of stairs and rooms small however you come away informed. I loved the little models of the opera sets. Highly recommended if you interested in Mozart.

I'm gonna be honest with you guys! You pay 13.5 Euro per person but it worth at most 2 Euro! Not because I don't like Mozart! Opposite, I love his artworks musics. But you couldn't get anything more out of this!
It'd be great if they could've played his musics in the background. Or had a better strategy on how to present his parents and his own life.
When you reach at the end of the museum, you couldn't find any thing about his last years of lives! Can you imagine? You cannot understand how he died and how things turned around after he died.
Mozart chocolates at this place is roughly : 23
Euro
And the other side the exact same chocolates are 18 Euro!
Hope the organizers respect the visitors in the future.
I took so many pictures for you guys to get an overview of how inside would look like

It was a nice, small museum. The anecdotes were funny and interesting. It was quite small and felt somewhat empty for the price paid, but is nevertheless a museum worth going to.

Nice collection and worth visiting if you are in Salzburg. It can get crowded so choose a quite time when there are less visitors so you can enjoy the tour. To activate the audio you would need to scan a code then download an app which was not convenient for me.

A great place to know and learn a lot about the phenomenon cakes called Mozart. We visited on a warm and sunny autumn day with family.
The place is the whole house divided across 3 floors. The 3rd floor comprises of Mozart's family apartment which his father rented for over 26 years. The other 2 floors contains some artefacts, letters, memoirs etc. A must visit if you want to know more of this great man of his times.

Place to visit for every musician or classical music lover. Its great experience to walk in Mozarts house rooms.. Very interesting things to see and explore . Lot of informations for everyone. And surprisingly not over crowded.

If you have a truly desire to see the interior of a traditional Salzburg house with a very limited old furniture, its worth to pay 15€.

One of the best places for this great person! The only problem was their audio guide. Can’t download it from the internet. We saw both places for Mozart in town. Better to buy combined tickets. It is cheaper than buy one by one

Very small museum, but intimate. As you move through the exhibit, you will feel and experience Mozart’s life during his time. There were a few computers for you to play his masterpieces. Scan a QR code and download the app as you enter the museum. Our app took a long time to download. Recommended for people who are interested in music and history. Family ticket package was available. Parking was limited. We parked in a parking lot by the River. It was a nice and touristy area.

My visit to Mozart's Birthplace in 2018 was a fascinating exploration of the life and influences that shaped the musical genius. While I thoroughly enjoyed the experience, I would give it a solid four-star rating.
Stepping into the house where Mozart was born provided a sense of historical connection and reverence. The authenticity of the preserved rooms, from the living quarters to the musical salon, offered a glimpse into the environment that nurtured Mozart's talent. The museum's collection of personal artifacts and manuscripts provided valuable insights into his early years, making it a must-visit for any Mozart enthusiast.
The exhibits within Mozart's Birthplace were informative and engaging. The displays showcased a wide range of memorabilia, including original compositions, letters, and portraits. The museum successfully conveyed Mozart's musical journey, from his prodigious childhood to his prolific adult career. However, I would have appreciated more interactive elements or audiovisual presentations to enhance the experience further.
The staff at Mozart's Birthplace were friendly and knowledgeable, providing assistance and answering questions. Their passion for Mozart's legacy was evident, and their enthusiasm added to the overall ambiance of the visit.
The location of Mozart's Birthplace in the heart of Salzburg made it easily accessible, and its proximity to other notable attractions was a convenient bonus. The surrounding area exuded a vibrant atmosphere, with charming cafes and streets filled with music, further immersing visitors in the city's musical heritage.
In summary, Mozart's Birthplace offers a compelling journey into the life and early influences of the musical prodigy. While the museum provides a rich collection and historical context, I would have appreciated more interactive elements or multimedia presentations to enhance the experience. Nonetheless, it remains an essential destination for Mozart enthusiasts and anyone seeking to explore the roots of a musical genius.

Another amazing museum for Mozart, his birthplace. It is open until 17:30 local time, so you can leave this one last, although you can spend a lot of time in there. We used our Salzburg card and got inside for free. I would definitely recommend this place while you visit Salzburg.

Really nicely laid out museum for a place originally never designed to be one. Well flowing exhibits with very detailed and (unintended?) humorous narratives. Lots and lots of stairs so not handicap friendly. WiFi is inconsistent for the non-German/English speakers. Takes about 1.5 hours to get through if you read everything. Remember to look up at the ceiling.

Spent part of our morning at this museum and home. Most people know Mozart however I did learn quite a bit during my visit. We were able to take our time and spend just over an hour. There was enough detail to see more but 2 hours would be at the top end of my preferred time to spend. A lot of interesting artifacts to see.

very small museum. nicely conserved areas but the general exhibits were quite lacklustre. I got free entry with the Salzburg card but if you were paying out of pocket I would say it’s not worth it - try the Mozart Residence instead for the same history but more to see

The preservation of the place itself is so wonderfully done. Furthermore this treasure is situated in the heart of Salzburg and near other tourist spots and shops. But I find the ticket expensive.

Mozart's Geburtshaus (birthplace) is where Mozart's (parents) family lived for 26 years, and converted into a museum around the mid-19th century. We spent about an hour at a moderate pace, though this could be a bit longer or shorter depending on how closely you want to read all of the signs.
The museum gives good information on Mozart's life, family, and legacy post-death. It also shares additional details on his operas, has a listening room where you can hear his works from a few individual computers, replicas of his original music, and details on his travels.
Signs are in German and English throughout, and there is an audio guide can download and utilize.
Compared to the Wohnaus (residence) museum it is larger and took us about twice as long. There were quite a few steps and rooms can be a bit tighter as well as it's set across multiple floors in an older building, which often had smaller floors/rooms.
Mirabell Palace is a baroque palace in the Neustadt district of Salzburg, Austria. The site is notable for its Sound of Music scenes and its gardens which feature a famous fountain decorated with the wings of Pegasus.
Just wow! This place is truly gorgeous!! I strongly believe indeed it is the most beautiful monument you can find in Salzburg! I don't know if you can access the palace itself, but even just the garden is truly spectacul! What I couldn't really understand, since you have to pay to access the other monuments in the city, this one is completely FREE...

We only briefly walked through the gardens here bit it was still quite a beautiful spot. If you've got time in Salzburg then definitely go visit, but if you're limited on time don't worry about missing it. On the plus side it's on the way to the fortress from the train station, so don't use the tram, walk through the gardens here instead, it's not a long walk.

Even in early spring, the gardens are well cared for and beautifully maintained. The view from the palace toward the fortress is an iconic shot you must get in Salzburg. The dwarf gardens are a fun and quirky little side visit off the side of the gardens that bring out the silly in just about everyone.

The palace garden is beautiful, and very big. There are plenty of hidden areas so make sure you don't miss anything, because it is worth it! My favourite part was a botanical room with turtles and birds in it. You'll know you're near if you hear the birds chirping.

Lovely garden and nice views of the fortress. It would have been nice to get some more information about the palace and different buildings, but definitely recommend having lunch in one of the gardens. Just lovely to sit outside and enjoy the views.

When visiting Salzburg, my wife and I first walked to the beautiful gardens, from where there is a beautiful view of the castle. The gardens are magnificent in June, when we visited them, the vegetation and flowers were beautiful.
The Mirabell manor with all its outbuildings and garden monuments is on the UNESCO list as the Historic Center of the City of Salzburg.

A must see in Salzburg. An awesome park to relax, spend a lazy afternoon and try to have a sandwich/picnic while you do people watching. Expect a lot of tourist. Spend time walking around the park. It huge & has a gnome garden. If you have time watch a Mozart concert at the marble hall. It is really work it

Hangar-7 is a museum that houses an impressive collection of historical aircraft. It is located next to Salzburg Airport, and has an architecturally impressive restaurant.
No idea how to spend some short free time in Salzburg?
Do you like F1, motorbikes, plans or helicopter?
Are you hungry and looking for some special place for diner?
Then you’re at right place. You can find everything in Hangar-7 as a bonus you can buy some merchandise T-shirt or Redbull souvenirs there.

I was here a few years ago and took friends here today on a trip through Salzburg. I am glad that the exposition has changed, even though its main outlines are of course the same. Excellent stop just off the highway. A lot of unique technology in one place in a beautiful environment!! We can highly recommend! No entrance fee ;). RV parking is not reserved, but with a little effort it is still possible.

Great place to experience all of the adrenaline sports Red Bull is a part of. Everything is roped off to protect each exhibit, but can still get close enough to enjoy them all. Red Bull gives you wings? Well here that phrase becomes reality. This is one of the largest collections of historical planes that are actually fully functional. So for instance on the day I visited you could see. A Douglas DC-6 flies over Salzburg and then on the ground at Hanger 7 which is located at Salzburg airport. There is a strong emphasis on sporting related activities with racing cars and stunts but also plenty of planes. There is a restaurant and cafe which you can visit, but the exhibition itself is free. You can access it via local buses and then a short walk (under 10 minutes).
I highly recommend buying a can of Redbull from the vending machine and just enjoying the overall environment.

One of Salzburg’s hidden gems; you should absolutely check it out if you’re ever in Salzburg (2 hours away from Munich or Vienna). The place is very nice and exhibits great variation of Redbull’s “very expensive toys”. Honestly one of the best places I’ve ever visited in my entire lifetime.

Great place not only for F1 or aviation fans. Worth coming if you are near or on the way through Salzburg. At Salzburg airport, on the opposite side of the terminal, you’ll find headquarters of Flying Bulls and Red Bull museum. You can see old F1 bolids and more than dozen various flying machines. There is a gift shop too. But also, 3 bars and restaurants, in one of which you can taste great cuisine from all over the world. Every month different chef is responsible for the menu and all the dishes you may find in special cook book issued every year!

We strolled up at 7pm to Hanger-7 and were disappointed to see all the lights off! Upset, I walked to the entrance anyways and was greeted by a lovely front desk receptionist. I asked her if they were still open since online it said they close at 8pm. They were still open! Don’t get thrown off by the dark ambiance - it’s just part of their vibe. The interior was awesome. Airplanes, F1 cars, and helicopters of all size and colors. All the staff were incredible and happy to explain the different vehicles. We loved the dark mood and music. There is a bar and upstairs viewing area as well - we weren’t allowed to go up since it was too late in the day. You can easily spend up to an hour here. Also: bathrooms are super cool too. Best part? This place is completely free! Go give it a visit.

It is number one on the tourist list for things to do in Berchtesgaden, and Synonyms include: mountaintop retreat, luxurious lodge built for Hitler, expensive house, luxury home.
The buses are clean, comfortable and very timely. It is very well run and organized. You can either bus, hike or bike to the top where incredible views await. Great example of NSGWP engineering and excess. Being one of the few standing buildings of the era this a must visit for any history nerd. I doubt there’s a more scenic view anywhere and I’ve only experienced a few roads/drives that rival the experience of getting to the Eagle’s Nest. It’s only open during the summer.

Untersberg is a stunning massif located on the border of Germany and Austria. The area features numerous peaks, trails, and large caves that are perfect for exploring. Standing at over 1900 meters high, it offers breathtaking views of Salzburg's iconic mountain range. Accessing the summit is made easy with the availability of a cable car ride; no expert climbing skills are required.
This was an amazing experience. We visited on Sunday 25th June 2023. We took bus 25 from Salzburg train station. It was a beautiful and scenic bus ride. The Untersberg is the last bus stop. We bought 2 up and down (return) tickets for €56. The cable cars run frequently, every 15 minutes. The staff got in the car and shut the door, and off we went.
It takes approximately 8 minutes to get to the top of the mountain. It gets bumpy when you get to the cable stations. The views are amazing. I was scared but I totally enjoyed it. When we got to the mountain, we walked up to the top of the mountain where there is a big cross. We could see the top of other mountains, and had a clear view of the city of Salzburg. We even saw a plane take off.
The view from the top is amazing, the air is so clean and fresh. It was totally worth it. I fully recommend this experience.

My visit to Untersberg in 2018 left me in awe of its majestic beauty and provided an adventurous escape into nature. While I thoroughly enjoyed the experience, I would give it a solid four-star rating.
Untersberg's breathtaking landscapes, towering peaks, and lush greenery presented a picturesque setting that was truly awe-inspiring. The panoramic views of the surrounding Salzburg region were simply breathtaking, making it a paradise for nature enthusiasts and hikers.
The cable car ride to the summit was a thrilling adventure in itself. The ascent offered sweeping vistas and a sense of anticipation for what awaited at the top. However, I would have appreciated more information or commentary during the journey to enhance the overall experience.
Exploring the trails and paths on Untersberg was a delight. The well-maintained routes catered to varying fitness levels, allowing visitors to choose between leisurely walks or more challenging hikes. The tranquility of the natural surroundings and the invigorating mountain air offered a welcome respite from city life.
The staff at Untersberg were friendly and helpful, providing guidance and recommendations for the best hiking routes. Their expertise and willingness to assist added value to the visit.
While Untersberg's natural beauty was undoubtedly its highlight, I found the lack of amenities and facilities slightly disappointing. Limited dining options and restroom facilities could be inconvenient for visitors, especially those planning to spend a significant amount of time exploring the area.
In summary, Untersberg is a nature lover's paradise, offering stunning vistas and exciting hiking opportunities. The cable car ride and the majestic landscapes are highlights that make the journey worthwhile. However, a more informative experience during the cable car ride and improved amenities would have elevated the overall visit. Nonetheless, I highly recommend Untersberg to those seeking a memorable outdoor adventure and a chance to immerse themselves in the wonders of nature.

We visited during December. Great for Snow in winter. There were short queues for the cable car. In summer it looks like a cool place to go for walking. The staff at the cafe is not great and clearly they have had enough of tourists. The shop at the top of the mountain only accept cash. We took a public bus No. 25 from Vienna city centre to Untersberg (last stop). Then cable car up to the top. Originally wanted to hike down but the cable car staff said it is not recommended to hike down that day because the weather was not very supportive. Apparently it will take at least 2-3 hours to hike down which time we did not have then.

There are the most beautiful views from Salzburg's iconic mountain. It is over 1900 metres high, and there is a cable car available to access the views without being an expert climber. Look at the reviews for Untersbergbahn. The summit is about a kilometre up from where the cable car leaves you. It is steep and rocky but walkable in proper footwear. Our ten year old could manage it without problem.
Untersberg has a legend of a sleeping emporor living inside the mountain with lots of little people, waiting for the day when ravens stop flying around the summit so that he can awake from a curse and rule over a peaceful empire.

I don’t give 5 star reviews on principle - that usually indicates fake reviews - otherwise I would - I’ve taken many cable cars - in Switzerland, East Asia, USA - and I would say this is the best I’ve taken - if like a mile of first suspension, then you go over the pylon and whoop dee doo, and again at the third pylon- all the while going wow at the views as you ascend this sheer cliff face. My ears popped three times going up.
At the top, feel free to walk to the next mountain top- it’s only about another 100 m vertically up a loose rough pathway- my partner balked and I’m glad she did - but there’s two other mini- peaks you can enjoy tremendous views from.
I’d never heard of this place and only found it on TripAdvisor’s things to do in Salzburg - and I’m real glad I did.
Choose your weather - we came up on a beautiful sunny 22C day - brought a jacket on advice - the top was cool and in cloud - luckily it dispersed and we enjoyed glorious panoramas over Salzburg and the surrounding valleys - an eagles nest view- with friendly yellow beaked ?ravens who will land on the fence six inches away from you- bring food ?

Visitors have the opportunity to take a boat ride across the tranquil surface and explore two different routes around the area, each offering beautiful views and hiking opportunities.
This rift created during the ice age is a pleasure to watch. It is a must-visit place if you are in Germany. Rent the kayaking boat for an hour or two instead of a motorboat to explore the lake.

One of the best places for vacation. People can enjoy their holiday with family and friends. During summer time we can enjoy the sunshine and the gorgeous views. I will definitely go there again with my wife and kids.

Lovely lake and would enjoy it better when it’s sunny, can spend around 2-3 hours, you would get into a boat which cost around 22,50 euros per adult.
In the middle of the boat you can hear echo when it’s all silent and a trumpet is blown after that they drop you to a small island and can spend around 1-1.5 hours by taking a stroll or visiting a small church and can eat in the cafe
Virendra M Patil — Google review
Went early in the morning and bought a boat ticket at 14 euro. At that time, we were unable to alight at the church but nonetheless, the boat tour was amazing!
Especially when the boat went closer to the cliff and the staff blow the horn, which reverberated throughout the mountain and reflected back!

Absolutely gorgeous place, superb views of the mountains and lakes combined. There is a boat ride which will cost you 25 euro for adults and 12 euro for children. You can also carry your pet which will cost 4 euro but you have to put mask on the boat. There are some hotels available to stay near by lake and feel the peacefulness and natural beauty.

Gorgeous place. Make sure to take the boat ride. They play trumpet and it echoes with the structure of the mountains. Truly one of the most moving events I have witnessed. 100% recommend.

A must do if you stay in Salzburg take the one hour trip down. Taking the boat half way is good enough if you aren’t going to hike to the waterfall at the final stop and are on a time crunch. Lots of shops and places to eat but no grab and go options. Get there early or you will have a long wait to get on a boat especially if it’s a sunny day.

Good place. Travel from Bad Reichenhall to Königssee is mesmerizing. Do take bus from Bad Reichenhall for the best view.

No words to describe how beautiful it is. Take the boat to Salet. Walk over to Obersee, you can walk to the other side, but not suitable if you are not so mobile, as you have to hike / climb some "rock" stairs. It can be very slippery. It is about 40 min one way walk

Nice lake but very touristic and quite crowded on the weekend.
There are many stalls in which you can grab something to eat or drink. Many souvenir shops.
As we were traveling with a reactive dog, we didn't take a boat tour but rather walked around the lake.
Found a nice spot from which you could see the lake, but it wasn't the best view.

Konigsee is a big lake nestled in the Bavarian Alps. The crystal-clear waters, lush greenery, and stunning mountain backdrop create a picture-perfect scene. Whether you’re taking a boat ride or hiking along the trails, every moment here is special. A must-visit destination for nature lovers and adventure seekers alike! We took a boat ride across to St Bartholomew’s chapel, and hiked up to the Ice Chapel.
There is parking at the head of the lake, hotels, restaurants etc, and good transport connections.

A truly magnificent place in the world and a pride of Germany. It's magnificent, an incredible sight to witness! One of the nicest views in the Alps; highly recommended. I especially advise a lake cruise. The ship's crew performs a trumpet melody that is absolutely stunning as it passed through the mountains. Would love to go again.
Saint Bartholomew's Church, situated near Konigsee Lake in Bavaria, is a picturesque pilgrimage church dating back to 1697. The church boasts stunning red onion-domed towers set against the backdrop of the Bavarian Alps, creating a breathtaking sight. Inside, visitors can admire intricate woodwork, ornate altars, and beautiful stained glass windows in a peaceful atmosphere.

St Bartholomew's Church, St. Bartholomä 1, 83471 Schönau am Königssee, Germany
Limestone gorge with a thundering river, hiking trails, via ferrata routes & a pilgrimage church.
Amazing place. Love the Climbs. You can rent climbing equipment for 15€ a day at the hotel around the corner. They can also give you good info on the different climbing paths. Make sure to stay within your skills. Some of the climbs require a good bit of upper body strength and being comfortable to lean out away from the rock and grapple along the rope. There is an easy climb that's a good place to start for beginners. All the climbs are well maintained and beautiful.

Medieval pilgrimage church housing an elaborately clothed Black Madonna statue from the 1300s.
The chapel Altötting is famous for!
Absolut „MUST SEE“ when visiting!
The atmosphere is very dark and heavy.
If you are sensitive, beware.
Inside, all the hearts of our Bavarian kings are preserved in ⚱️and displayed facing the altar with the BLACK MADONNA.
I recommend booking a tour guide, who will also lead you to the other highlights of Bavarian Pilgrimage, such as Tilly‘s mummy, Saint Konrads relics and other holy bones.

The miraculous shrine of the black Madonna and the oldest Maria shrine in germany, also refers to as Lourdes of Germany. honoured by the visit of two popes, many offerings (metal hearts, artifacts, portraits) are hanged on the walls. this is the center of Bavarian faith and truly a place of great beauty. This is truly a Marina jewel and the Marian heart of Bavaria, including the centuries old Gnadekapelle which is the centrally located and small, somewhat darkly lit (but a gorgeous candlelight type of dark!) chapel with the primary object of focus and now ancient Madonna and Child statue which has had an impressive number of miracles, both those proven and those not officially proven attributed to the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary to Jesus through it. I have 2 pictures of the the Grandekapelle and also others of the much larger Stiftspfarrkirche which stands adjacent to the Gnadekapelle. It is also simply exhilarating to stand in the Kapellplatz (Chapel Square) and take in the southern German views. The entire shrine has abundant areas within which to pray and reflect as well as opportunities nearby to do some Catholic religious goods shopping for devotional objects and holy souvenirs. I have now twice been here, and it is a peaceful and reflective experience. May your journey there be blessed!

Humble outside, story on story covers the archways. Inside a black and silver incarnation of catholic worship. But all in a size that brings god closer and does not distance the herd from the shepard, like in some pilgrimage spots...during off- season weekday late afternoon is a time to be able to get some comtemplation in front of the Virgin mother and her so'n the savior.

Freizeitpark Ruhpolding is a one-of-a-kind amusement park nestled in the heart of a forest. It offers an array of activities that cater to both young and older kids, such as rope gardens, water slides, bag slides, and even a crystal mine. While it may be more appealing to younger children, older kids can still find enjoyment in the park's nature-focused rides.

Amazing park in the middle of the forest. Really cool stuff for young kids to play with.
They have plenty of stuff for younger kids ( under 6 ) to do as well as for older kids.
Things like: rope garden, water slide, bag slide, crystal mine, lot's of small animatronic houses that tell stories, roller coaster, etc etc..
Maybe for older teenagers it might not be so interesting or there would be less stuff to do.
You can easily spend the whole day there with your kids, there's plenty of shade so they are not toasting in the sun.
There's a restaurant and some cafes for food and beverages.
To access the park, there's a somewhat steep and a bit slippery road. If you bring a child buggy, you should be careful, especially on the way down.

The Herrenchiemsee New Palace is a grand structure located on the island of Herreninsel in Bavaria. Built in 1878 and modeled after the Versailles palace, it was created as a tribute to absolutist monarchy. Ludwig II, its founder, spent very little time here and made it more as an expression of his romantic ideas and imagination than as a residence. The palace's design reflects Ludwigs' obsessions with romanticism while being typical of his creations.
It was a very beautiful environment, quiet nomatter the population.

You can take your boat to reach the destination and enjoy the scenic view of a dream house and the islands inside the lake. Once you reach the castle don't get astounded by the beautiful sculptures and exquisite rooms built by King Ludwig 2. Great place to visit for a few hours to see the palace and the grounds or a full day if you also want to stroll around the island. The ferry ride to and from the island is decently quick, and the palace tour, which we did not do, is around 40 minutes or so. The grounds are beautifully maintained and peaceful, and the fountains run on a timer about every 15 or so minutes, so it is worth taking your time to enjoy the scenery.

One day is not enough if you want to combine it with a big walk. We will definitely go again because we want to enjoy and relax around Herrenkimsee, for the other island another trip😆 Check how long the museum tickets are valid and don't throw them away, and visit the island when the fountains are working, it's probably very beautiful

We walk round trip from docks to the palace, not that far, could enjoy the surroundings. The palace is beautiful as like as the Versailles palace in Paris France, ashamed that they not allowed recording any video or photos inside the palace. Worth it and I love it.

I was the only visitor at that time as it was late in the evening. So, I got the opportunity to explore the place by myself with a tour guide. It was amazing experience to go through the place and learn about how he got broke and the palace remain incomplete 😂

So much recommended, the best ever visited castle. It even beats the Versailles in Paris. So beautiful to visit the outside and the inside. For students it’s only 9€ and for adults in general 10€. So worth the price. To reach the island you can buy a ticket on the boat for 10.50 €

✨✨✨Cheimsee!!!! AKA…”The Bavarian Sea” …a really amazing surprize to find a truly enormous and lovely lake in the middle of that beautiful mountainous region…so nice to take a hike along its shores…whether in summer …or mid winter as the attached photo of me depicts…always so nice to take a ferry to visit the astounding and gorgeous HERRENCHIEMSEE PALACE…situated on an isle within the lake …commissioned and built by Ludwig of Bavaria …it gives Versailles ( apparently in some ways its inspiration) a run for its money …note when in this beautiful hood…makes sense to take a side trip to also see the fabulous NEU SCHWANSTEIN ( the inspiration for the Walt Disney castle btw)…yet another simply fabulous structure that Ludwig built …and which now continues to delight and amaze all who visit 💯🙏🏻👍🏻☺️✨✨✨
Remember it's a CASH ONLY place.
They don't accept Debit or credit cards.
But the service was quick.
There are basically two kind of Tour one can take using these boats, East and West direction. Most popular being W forest direction tour as it allows you to visit Herrenchiemsee , Gstadt and Fraueninsel.

I visited Chiemsee Lake, that is a beautiful lake located in Bavaria, Germany. It's often referred to as the "Bavarian Sea" due to its size and popularity among tourists and locals alike. The lake is surrounded by picturesque landscapes and is home to two islands, Herreninsel and Fraueninsel, both of which are accessible by boat and offer attractions such as historic palaces and monasteries.

This is a beautiful spot. The scenery is simply stunning. This lake is an awesome place to visit. There is a veil of bucolic idyll that covers the whole place. It is an incredibly picturesque sight. Should you be in the area, definitely make a visit to the lake a top priority. There is a regular ferry service and there are plenty of places where you can go hiking or cycling. Definitely, a must visit destination!

Not 5 stars because the staff speaks only german when they make an anounce with the speaker.
That’s why we didn’t understand and make us a mistake that costs 1h35 !!!
Not 100% happy but it was a pleasure.

We had a wonderful day at the Chiemsee - and on the Chiemsee. We used the boats of Chiemsee Schifffahrt Feßler to do a boat tour from Prien to Herreninsel and to Fraueninsel and back. The oldest boat originates from 1926. Although on a weekend together with numerous people, we didn't have to wait long and had a joyful cruise.

Boat tour at Chiemsee was very nice. Lots of things to see, need whole day
The whole family (7 & 10 y/o kids) went here expecting a couple of hours of fun. We ended up staying 6 hours, everyone loved it! Good selection of difficulty levels and a very smart safety system so it is impossible to fall down. Recommended!
Björn Törnqvist — Google review
Lots of family fun. Best for ages 10 - adult. Do not drive car up. Park below and have to take cable car up the mountain. You can do the ropes courses as many times as you want. The ziplines are really fun. We didn't have time to try the mountain cars but they looked really fun to drive, separate driving course for them. You could easily spend 4-6 hours here. Service was great, friendly, safe and helpful. They speak multiple languages, mostly German, English and Dutch. Hours 9-4, it was probably around $30 a person.

We arrived on time but there was a large groupe of adults and children before us. To pay and get the equipment took more than an hour. Hence we didn't complete all the trails. We asked to come back the next day to complete what we didn't do but the management refused to let us do that for free. This got us very angry and the kids very frustrated. Poor attention to the customer...

Excellent day out either as a family ,couple or single. We went with a 4 and 6 year old. The 4 year old was disappointed he could only go on the very first course. Both loved the mountain carts.
Jennifer Richards — Google review
The red course 1 is not suitable for someone around 1.75 m as the safety line either presses against your neck or punches you in the face. Didnt try red 2 afterwards in fear of the same problem. Otherwise good.

My 11 year old son was stuck over the lake on the Flying Fox for at least 15 (!) minutes before the guy from the park personnel arrived to rescue him. The boy was frightened and crying, hanging over the lake at 10 meters height, my wife and myself have requested help several times, but the park personnel was not reacting. I find this attitude cruel and unprofessional. We did not receive clear instructions in English that accompanying adult should go before the child on the Flying Fox, so I was unable to help my son. We've visited several rope parks in Holland, Germany and Austria, and in each one of them the personnel was reacting immediately to even less serious problems. Very disappointed with Hornpark.

Perfect experience: Nice personnel, climbing routes well maintained, great vista! The flying foxes going over the lake are big fun!
Visitor center & interactive museum with info & a 3D film on the surrounding Alpine landscape.
It’s really a nice museum that is worth every euro. It’s not to big but it has a great 360 cinema and a 3D cinema . It’s also really educating for children. We spend about 2.5 hours in the museum. Staff is really friendly

We only came here for just under an hour after a trip to the waterfalls. It’s an impressive place and we were able to still soak up most of it in the time we had there. Yes, the glacier was a key highlight!

Visited on July 4th on our way back from Krimml waterfalls. It is nice little museum. Their 360° movie theater was great. We were limited by the time and could spend there only an hour but for comfortable visit I recommend to allow about 2 hours. We took bus 670 that runs every hour on weekdays but free parking is available. Walk from the bus stop is about 450 meters.

What to do in the rain in the area with kids? The park has a nice building, but super crowded while rain and there is really little the kids enjoyed. The only thing was the glacier ice at the end of the tour. 32€ for a family also not cheap
Lovely pool, outdoor heated to body temp with jacuzzi features. Very relaxing after a day skiing!!

Slightly wired arrangement. Free access to the indoor and outdoor pools with a local card from the hotel. The indoor pool is for people swimming lengths, the outdoor pool is warm with bubbles etc. All other facilities, such as Sauna, very expensive. Nice, clean changing facilities, child friendly area with side and small pool and, what I presume is meant to be a quiet area, full of families.
Peter Blow — Google review
Located within walking distance from town centre the place also has parking with costs being refunded upon entry.
The complex has great facilities and its kept very clean. We had free entry with the guest card issued by the hotel we were staying so great value.
There's a children swimming pool with slides and water features, also an outdoor pool with heated water and a lane swimming pool.
No need to have coins for lockers as they're lockable using the access cards given at entry.

Spotless new facilities, great atmosphere and great fun. Also worth mentioning it came free for us with the hotel we are staying at which is an added bonus! Highly recommended.

Great facility if you're staying locally in the summer as you get to use all the pools for free. If you go indoors they issue you a card which you slot into your locker. Your locker key then comes with a pass for doors and turnstiles between pools. Bit confusing if you've never been before.

The resort offers family-friendly packages for various activities including chair lift rides with beautiful views of Oberaudorf city and Austria.
This is a fun place to visit in the summer, very family friendly. They have different packages you can buy at the ticket window that are very reasonable. When we got to the ski resort to rent skis we told the that I was a beginner and asked them if there was a slope for beginners. They said yes, at the top there is an easy slope. We said okay and went to the top of the ski lift. When we got to the top, they didn’t tell me how to get of, I got off the wrong way and started speeding up. Even though it was hard to stop I could do it. When I stopped I looked to the top of the hill. For some reason it looked kind of steep for beginners but I said “You know what, lets try this.” Then i see to get on to the lift you needed two people. The thing was that I was alone. So I tried to get on and my hands slipped but I decided to hold on. So the whole way up my arms were cramping and hurting. When I got up, I looked down to see how steep it actually was. I knew that there was only one way down. So I was surprisingly brave enough to go down. But that was the wrong path. I went on to the hump and I was in the air for more then 5 seconds!!!!! Then I fell on my back and I knew that I wasn’t going to stop any time soon. So I kept sliding and sliding and then, I finally stop. Of course I was yelling in pain. Then I was greeted with this very kind man that asked me if I was okay. Anyways we went down the ski lift and go back to return the skis. We told them what happened and then they said that we should’ve went to söll because the snow was Icy. They didn’t even give us a refund!!!😡

There is minimal and maximal weight limits for the cable cart. But you know this only AFTER you buy the tickets and go up. My son was very sad about that and cry a lot! He was below minimum and no added weight helped. You should put the scale at the line to pay!!!
Also, on the pipe slide after the cable car you can get burns when your arms or legs skin gets friction with slide. I got burns and some skin peel in my hands. Was there 2 days ago.
