Sights & Landmarks
The Volksparkstadion is a football stadium located in Hamburg, Germany. The stadium has a capacity of around 55,000 spectators and is the home ground of Hamburger SV. The stadium was built on the site of the old Volksparkstadion and opened in April 1998. HSV are one of Germany's most famous clubs and have won several German Championships at the Volksparkstadion.
Very nice stadium with museum and fan store. HSV is one of Germany’s most famous clubs.

Beautiful stadium. As a neutral fan it was a lot of fun to visit. Great amenities and very relaxed atmosphere around the grounds. Fans were really loud too!
Chris Verhulst — Google review
Always fully booked and a amazing atmosphere at each visit. The fans just grab you with their good mood to join the chants pushing the team to the maximum.
Gu St — Google review
Huge place, but it was empty because no match played that day. Although help center, souvenir shop, restaurant etc were still open although a bit pricy. The structures are very picturesque and you can access some of the places even when there is no match played

I was there for a Harry Styles Concert. The Stadium was great and looked nice. Such a huge building. The open roof looked really cool!
The concert was FIREEEEE!!!
Stan Harry Styles for a better life! Slay🥹

It's an awesome stadium. I loved seeing Metallica perform there 2 times in one weekend. Will be back for a football game too in the near future for sure.

We had been to the Hamburg football stadium for the champions league match between Shakhtar Donetsk vs FC Porto and it was an amazing experience!
The prices of beer and any food items start at 5€ - which was pretty steep for the quality and quantity.
Also, the washrooms were extremely dirty and not maintained.
Nevertheless worth a visit if you are living in Hamburg.

Great stadium for my first ever Futbol match.
Kyle Simmons — Google review
The stadium is very nice, worth a visit if your a football fan with some spare time. The tour is not so good however. The guide was lovely and spoke both German and English, but what we got to see was disappointing. You barely spend any time with a view of the pitch, so get any photos at the start as this will be your only chance. We also didn't get to go down the Tunnel and into the dugout- which is the first time I've ever had this. No home changing room, no vip seats. Wasn't too expensive thankfully but they should improve the contents of the tour.

Not a traditional stadion visit, since I was there for a Rammstein concert...
Staff was nice and everything was easy to find (plenty of signs and such). Venue was easy to get to. Snacks were great!

The stadium's modern facilities and well-designed seating ensure a comfortable viewing experience for all spectators. Even if you're not catching a match, the guided tours offer an insider's look at the stadium's rich history and behind-the-scenes areas. Whether you're a football enthusiast or just curious about sports culture, Volksparkstadion Hamburg offers an exciting glimpse into the heart of the game.

It's huge and I love it even more cuz of The weeknd concert....they have capacity of around nearly 1 lac seats but yeah it's way too far from Central railway station.
Vimal Mishra — Google review
Had the pleasure of attending Bruce Springsteen & E street band, had VIP hospitality package, so free drink and food before show. Amazing seats, {when we found them} we needed to ask two stewards because the first one sent us to the wrong seats, very difficult to find when people are already seated and staff are not aware to the section their working in, but the second stewards was amazing and walked us to our seat. Food and drink at the venue are reasonably priced, unlike the extortionate prices in the UK, where they charge extreme prices at gigs.

Beautiful stadium and a great atmosphere! Best football atmosphere I've experienced so far.

The Volkspark Stadion is a wonderful football stadium with loads of extra events for families throughout the year. I would highly recommend a visit!

Nice ground! Reasonable prices for football, beer and food. Loose one star due to the distance to the city center.

Went to the stadium the watch Hamburg vs. Hannover. The atmosphere was great.
Arturo Navarrete — Google review
This stadium is grand and acoustics are great.
You hear echo if it is not fully packed. Accessibility is via bus and then 5 minutes walk. Like most stadiums getting out takes so much time because there are no subway connections only bus.
Zain Saleem — Google review
Went here for Metallica concert, with M72 world tour.
With approximately 72,000 people, you can imagine this was extremely busy.
Great venue and very clean. The only slight downside was lack of toilet facilities. Acoustics were an excellent set up. Easy access and security pretty good.
Served a variety of food and drink options. Prices fair considering its a stadium, rather than cafe.
Large bags not allowed into stadium, but provided free cloakroom services.
Metallica were amazing. Support bands were fantastic, despite a change ( FFDP to Pantera).
The Barclaycard Arena is a multipurpose arena that has held events such as sport and concerts. It is located in the north of Germany, near to the Volkspark stadium which is an open-air venue. The hall has great acoustics and is well air conditioned, making it comfortable for spectators. There are multiple food and drink counters on each floor, which avoids queuing and ensures good service.
Very nice place, very well equipped. We watched the Disne's dream come true and it was really full of wonders. We enjoyed every moment. But it was really hard finding the car. Do not do my mistake and try to add a point for your parking spot on the map.
Fares Al Husseni — Google review
For people that are a bit older or suffer from astma or similar trouble it was a nightmare. No elevators in sight and we were told there was one but only for Vips. Very steep stairs outside and inside. Plenty easy to find parking. The concert we went to was fabulous!
Winny Kerstholt — Google review
The Volkspark stadium is different and Barclay arena is different, they are next to each other but different buildings. I saw some pictures posted of Volkspark for arena. And was confused if it’s an open air venue or closed hall. This is a closed arena and well air conditioned( warm) So it’s warm and comfy. Each floor has multiple food and drinks counters, don’t stand in line at the entry food / drink counters because it’s crowded whereas at other floors we found empty food/ drinks counters. Enough washrooms to avoid crowd and good services. Acoustics of the hall are really good.
Pooja Chaudhary — Google review
Went to Blink182 here. Great service from start to finish. Easily accessible. The event space is well done and the planners have great foresight in how many can fit into the standing area to not make it feel like a tuna can. The toilets were super clean and lounge bar on the ground floor was an unexpected positive surprise!
Steven Bieler (Project D.A.D.) — Google review
Watched Roger Waters live here. What an amazing experience.
The arena is well maintained, with alright snacking options and enough clean toilets. The place is well connected with public transport. They run a shuttle from the near by S-bahn station. There is also enough parking space if you come by car.

Upper and lower bowls should be accessible with escalators and there should be site plans to orient oneself better. The sound was very good from every position in the venue, it was clean and the entry is smooth.

I was to Elton John concert, all was good till we try to go ouț with the car from parking place. All the parking peoples were not there to organised the exit, people were walking everywhere, we spend more than half hour to exit to the Main street. Bad organisation

What a great venue for big shows. No bottle-necking even when its sold out. Just a well designed arena. The acoustics were superb!

Attended the Luke Combs concert on October 6th, very quick admission into the building with a drinks/ pretzel cart outside. Plenty of food options inside and easy to navigate to your seat! This was the view from section U15 🕺

I loved Jason party yesterday. Everything was perfect. The staff were also friendly and helpful.

Spacious and well organized during games
Anne Aol — Google review
Very safe, clean and spacious inside the arena! We're British, but be prepared for there to be no queues, especially when the show has ended and everyone wants their €3 pfand (Cup deposit) back!
Also, good that you get free travel to and from the arena on public transport- shuttle busses were lined up when the show finished to take everyone home.
Grace Robbins — Google review
Went to see a handball game there (8/12/22). Lots of fun and a great atmosphere, very family friendly. Lots of places to get food and drink at half time and even a shop to buy shirts and scarfs from.
Thomas Dicicco — Google review
Nightmare, the concert was ok but everything else not! the concert Hall doesn't have enough toilets so the queues are huge. Very violent, unfriendly and rude staff - especially security! But the worst was the the single entrance and exit of the main parking. There is ONLY one tiny exit. We waited around 30 min in a traffic to get inside and more than 70 min! (Yes, over an hour) to get out of the parking. And the concert was only half full. I don't want to imagine how long one has to wait when the concert full ist. Meanwhile they locked up the building and of course the toilets and we waited over an hour with children in the cold and no toilets after the concert!
It seems the concert hall management doesn't care at all about the comfort of the visitors. They just cash the money but leave the people waiting in the cold for hours before and after the event!
Dear Management - it cannot be so difficult to negotiate a few exits for the parking with the authorities. And of course to leave the shops and toilets open while the visitors wait for hours and hours on the car parking.
But it's just not worth it to go there, there are much better concert halls with better organisation and friendlier to visitors.

Caribbean-styled water park with slides & children's pool, plus saunas, treatment rooms & a bistro.
very hot inside and the pools are extremely clean. cleanest i have ever seen. the PH levels felt good and overall, the food was simple and good.

Always a nice place to go. Lots of space and fun for kids, except in the summer holidays. Then its really crowded and people aren't very friendly sometimes...
But the classes are great and the people who work there are very friendly.
Vee Panzer — Google review
Very cool place. Loved the pools and large variety of saunas. Saunas could be also bit more diverse- with different humidities. A lot of saunas were different just with temperature and theme. I liked it a lot i had very relaxing evening. Everything was clean and very nice.
Be careful and drink enough water when you go to saunas.
Ģirts M — Google review
Ok, I have some complaints.
First it was very annoying that the parking next to the HolstenTherme is open, there are no signs whatsoever that its not allowed to park there, but we did and after we were inside getting ready to enter they had us move the car. Please put a clear sign.
Second, the price for renting towels is too expensive. 7€ for the robe, 5€ for the towel and god knows how much the sandals. I find it very expensive.
Third, the salt water pool is not included in the price. It's 2.5€ per 20 min. I find it quite bad that after paying 40€ (ticket plus towels) they still want to charge extra for that pool. And again, I didnt see any sign whatsoever about that.
For those three reasons, dissatisfied. The saunas are good though

The swimming pools are amazing.
Slides amazing
Outdoor swimming amazing.
Changing rooms easy to navigate even for English speaker.
Very well priced
We had a really really good time with our little baby
Our only problem is the restaurant.
We got all settled in the restaurant and They only had German menu which is fine. But when using our phone to try and translate the menu behind the desk was told 'no stop'. We then asked do they have an English menu was told 'no'.. again fine but we can't order if you want let us translate with our phone.... So had to walk out.
Don't understand as we phone was facing the menu no one else was in the restaurant

Very nice thermal bathes, not big though. We were Saturday and there was many guests with many children, a bit loud and crowded. The water was hot, comparatively with other Thermen. The food was ok, we had curry sausage with frensh fries. Good prices and friendly service and staff. I'd recommend it in week days, not on weekends.
Alexander Nadim — Google review
My friend and I walked into the front door. Then a guy came behind us and with a rude tone asked us to get out. He said he has to check our vaccination first. The way he said it was like it was our fault waking into a wide open door to a sauna.
There were no one guiding the guests to the right direction and he was making us wrong. Bad organization and customer service.

Our favourite family place. Very peaceful during the workdays. Plenty of amenities for all. Clean and well organised. Personnel is friendly and very helpful. External pool is amazing during night. Sauna world is a great place to relax. Strongly recommend this place for families. Couples should try sauna world in winter.

Everything was ver nice! That is the most clean wellness center I have ever seen, of course we went on a Monday which is not so crowded but still you can see they take care of the place! The stuff was very polite and helpful and I loved how the place has so many different styles to relax! Also the price is quite fair for what you get! I am taking one star away because the sauna programs was like everything the same ,boring and never on time! We were there sitting and waiting for the people to come slowly and make the program! Also there was no rule for staying quiet as a result some rude people to talk o laugh loud and none of the stuff do anything! Bit annoying! And one more reason that the bar was a little expensive! I mean 2,40€ for a small glass tap water is waaay too much! Above all that was a place I highly recommend and you should try
S TheHamburger — Google review
I loved the heated salt water pool as well as some of the saunas and infusions. Was very busy but still managed to find some space. The restaurant and seating area was not well-designed and I didn’t like sitting there. Food was okay but not great.
Currently one of Hamburg's wealthiest neighborhoods, the area is home to a number of historic landmarks, including the Blankenese Palace and park. The area is steeped in history, with narrow alleys and mansions connecting by many stairs.
A chill place to enjoy the sunshine, wind from the sea, a cup of nice coffee for an afternoon. The houses are built on small hills so it takes some effort to walk around the area.

Iaroslav Gonchar — Google review
Stunning neighborhood in Hamburg with a great view of the Rivera from the lighthouse. Only downside is that there is not much to do, so it's more of a nice walk and fancy area than a place with many activities. Still, it's an absolutely charming part of Hamburg.

I was being told from locals about this neighbourhood / town close to Hamburg. The reality surpassed what I was expecting. Very beautiful walk. You can admire beautiful architecture , mansions, nature heading to the sea. I d visit again and also try one of the restaurants by the sea

We visited it at night. However we will return to look and see it by daylight. It looked nice.
We spent some time at the nice tradition of Easter fires on the Elbe-river beach. We enjoyed it.

It’s my favorite place to walk in Strandstraße. To ride a bicycle. It’s a nice calm place, especially during good weather in Hamburg.
Y G — Google review
one of the most beautiful spots in Hamburg, in all seasons of the year, whereas spring is breathtaking there. Recommended is a walk up and down some of the more than 5,000 steps, that sometimes lead to beautiful gardens and breathtaking views onto the river Elbe.
Christian Gruner — Google review
From the Blankenese Train Station you need to walk about 5 minutes before you find the first flight of stairs (there is more than one). The flights are usually narrow, I can imagine it can feel a little crowded in the summer. You can walk along the Elbe and get very nice views of Blankenesen from the shore. Nice place to visit (located in the westernmost part of Hamburg)

This district is always worth a trip. My goal is to have climbed every staircase once. There are incredibly beautiful corners and it's also a good workout for your cardiovascular system.

Beautiful area and a work out climbing all of the steps and winding around the neighborhood.
Jeff Chunka — Google review
This place was the greatest thing I’ve ever seen so beautiful full of love, nature.😍
A really nice little “mall town”.
It feels very much like a nice little village, if every building was a designer clothes store. It really uses the Disneyland trick to kinda close off the outside world to make you relaxed and feel encapsulated in the shopping feel, of course on a much smaller scale but still.
There’s even a very impressive playground, to entertain the children while the parents shop.
Also nice food options there where nice pizzas in the back of the compound, and a Five Guys burger joint whose burgers I can really recommend.
Samuel Wollenberg — Google review
Beautiful place with alot of designer shops and food courts. There is alot of parking available inside and on the next building you which is quite affordable. It’s really fun and beautiful of you visit around Christmas although on weekends it’s very busy.
mercy kariuki — Google review
Great selection of brands. Selection in stores good also. Best of all was the way they set up the outlet. I expected storage buildings but it’s more like a small town where you walk outdoors between shops. There’s an opportunity to buy hamburgers, pizza and crepes but we found no real good. Prices are decent.
René Færch — Google review
Such a nice village
Get lost around the shops
Get hungry and get some loaded fries or waffles
I do agree with some others that the parking is over priced and should actually be free if you have shopped in the village, they should validate your ticket, if you haven't bought anything then it's fine pay the fine 😊
Doany brands to choose from
Here is definitely something for everyone
Nice enough as well that they have toilets located everywhere and unlikely in Germany they are free.

Not as big as metzingen outletcity but it's close to Hamburg, hence convenient.

It's really nice place who are brand lovers. All Brands at Same place! What a Cool Thing! While Visiting Outlet City one should have ample time because it takes alot of time to visit each store.
There are some vending machines to eat and drink. There are free of cost WC. There are designated places for small kids to play.

Designer Outlet Neumünster is a shopper's dream come true! This outlet offers a fantastic retail therapy experience with its diverse range of high-end brands at discounted prices.
The layout of the outlet is well-planned, making it easy to navigate through the various stores. The wide selection of shops, from fashion to home goods, ensures that there's something for every taste and preference. The ambiance is inviting, and the open-air setting adds a pleasant touch to the shopping experience.
What truly sets Designer Outlet Neumünster apart is the exceptional customer service. The staff members are not only friendly and approachable but also knowledgeable about the products and willing to assist. Whether you're a fashionista or just browsing, their hospitality adds an extra layer of enjoyment to your visit.
The discounts and deals available are impressive, making it a cost-effective way to indulge in your favorite brands. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality and variety of items available at such attractive prices. It's a great place to score some fantastic deals on designer pieces.
The amenities, including restaurants and cafes, provide a welcome break during your shopping spree. The overall cleanliness and maintenance of the outlet are commendable, contributing to a pleasant and comfortable shopping environment.
Designer Outlet Neumünster is a must-visit destination for fashion enthusiasts and bargain hunters alike. It's an enjoyable shopping experience with a touch of luxury, and I can't wait to return for my next shopping adventure!

It was nice to explore the designer outlet with lucrative offers on some luxury brands and various buying choices.
Utsa Chattopadhyay — Google review
We came here early around 1030am and all the outdoor parking is already full so we had to park in the carpark building on the opposite side of the Outlet. Do expect traffic jam as this is super auto centric area. There is women exclusive parking spot on the groundfloor of the carpark but somehow a lot of men park there. Free umbrella provided on a bad weather. By the time we exit at 1400 the carpark building was so full, that there is a queue to enter.
Unfortunately, i didnt snap any pic here as it was constantly raining.
On the price tag, there will be 2 prices attached. One is standard retail price and another is outlet price which is normally 10% cheaper. If you are lucky, there are also a third price tag, sales price, where the price would be up to 70% off. No discount on food, standard price for 5guys and Starbucks. Is it worth travelling here? Yes, if you want or need to shop a lot of new clothe, shoe or kitchenware. Do come in a group so it makes the travelling worthwhile.

Animal park with woodland, home to around 135 species, including polar bears, seals & macaques.
Excellent place to take children and enjoy the company of animals. There is a great variety. The animals look in good health. Recommended!

Support this zoo and make a visit. They are really taking care of their animals and the place need aome upgrade. Nice staff, cool animals and relaxed atmosphere. Really not expensive.
Stian Øyen — Google review
The zoo is nice, and the entrance price is quite reasonable. While some of the zoo seems a little bit tired, it's still quite nice. The restaurant/grillhut inside has some tasty food too.
Leon Ioannides — Google review
Bad park with a lot of dirty water. Animals that are not stimulated. Small cages. Especially for animals like polarbears.
Michael Van Reij — Google review
Pretty rundown and has very few exotic animals. No tigers, lions, giraffes et cetera. Overal uninteresting. What maybe makes this place worth a visit is the affordable price; 13 EUR for an adult.
Martin Andersson — Google review
It was a lovely experience, there are more local animals, but with a few "exotic" ones. The polar bears and the little monkeys are a lot of fun, perfect day trip, you can feed and stroke some goats, and there is a huge playground at the end of the round. The kids almost enjoyed that more.
Aliz Ba-Sa — Google review
Its amasing here..with a number of animals to look at and a restaurant where you can eat something. Loved it.

Some animals look/seem to be fairly stressed but most zoos have stressed animals so it was pretty okay. Worth the money.
Interactive Swedish history exhibitions starting at prehistoric times in an old military building.
Wonderful museum on a historical building. Great permanent collection that expands in 3 floors. From Paleontology to more recent history, with great finds from the area as well. The location is also wonderful if you want to visit the other museums as well, or want nice food/coffee/drink options. The personnel was also very kind.
Alex Serezis — Google review
This museum is better than I expected. The information was only in German, so Google Translate was needed at times, but many things were easy to figure out. This is the first museum that has provided flashlights so you can better see anything that is dimly lit. Great idea!
Shannon Wentworth — Google review
Nice building. Would only recommend to the German speaking, as the information in English is close to none. Entrance is 8 euro.
Andrei L — Google review
Museum looks interesting and displays downstairs on the very beginning are really good and engaging. We had no time to visit all exhibitions but those we have seen which are free of charge they make good impression and give the idea of the whole place. Worth visiting. It's not clear to which point you can explore ticket free, at some point you may be told off by the staff that you haven't bought a ticket but there is no way to guess how far you can go ticket free.

Early-1900s iron railroad bridge that crosses the Kiel Canal at a height of over 40 meters.
Nice to come back and see this Bridge again

On a misty winter day, I explored the Rendusberg High Bridge in Germany. The drizzle and fog added an ethereal ambiance to the experience.
As a civil engineer, I marveled at the intricate design, especially the hanging transport vehicle. This engineering feat showcased a harmonious blend of functionality and aesthetic appeal, a testament to the brilliance of the engineers behind this remarkable structure.

Wonderful service from the Schwebebahn Captain, who opened up the barriers for us although he was ready to go.

It's a nice bridge, only half of its attraction and function were removed when the floating ferry was piloted in the way of a large ship.

A really beautiful bridge with an interesting transportation for crossing the river.
Meanwhile, taking a train passing through the bridge is fantastic, sine it is really high, you would get an astoniahing view. ;)

I got stopped because I was walking up the escalator at a normal pace when there was noone there because I'd be "breathing too much". I guess they like to nitpick when they have nothing to do.

The canal is excellently maintained. Good security and so safe to pass by. The view of the canal from here is just splendid. I was really awestruck with the beauty of this place. I love to go to this place once again. Whosoever visiting Rendsburg should go and spend sometime near the canal. I was told that this 100km canal was man made, 100 years ago. I could see the quality of the workman's contribution even now. And, the big container ships passing by while we're relaxing is adding beauty to our eyes. Great place to hangout. :) :) :)

Explanations of how the tunnel was built is a nice addon for engineering lovers.
Was meant to be quicker than driving through Hamburg. But took ages to get to the port driving through endless suburbia just to get to the port, only then to be told a few km from the port that there was a one hour queue, too late to turn around. Won't be making this mistake again- so much for German infrastructure and efficiency!

The ferry ride across is really nice. My kids really found it fun. The ferry also several clean toilets, which was a total bonus. There is also a small observation deck. Prior to getting on the ferry there is small snackbar, including a small fish n'chips shop at the parking lot before. The downside is the waiting time! The queue is far too long, in summer time expect to wait at least one hour. Another point is the road to and from the ferry is horrible, as it's just regular country and city roads.
Peter DeBrass — Google review
Cost 8.50 to take a car + driver , which I think is ok, waiting times can be very long , I had to wait 40 minutes but later in the day it was over 2 hours wait (they usually announce on the website when waitings are over one hour and also on the radio (NDR ) If waitings gets longer,
But if you aren't in a hurry and for example as me are heading west from the north this is a nice alternative to going on the A7 and does save quite a few miles.
Unfortunately ( for us that travel by car)the que system doesn't apply to motorbikes , when a traveled over about 1/5 of the ferry was filled with bikes that just skip the line , seems to be a accepted fact , so if you are on a bike this route is a fast option

Museum of excavated Viking artifacts, including a riverside area with recreated houses.
It really is hard to represent this place via pictures. The quiet, the smell, the absolutely immense size of the site... you must go and experience it. The village was built with impressive attention to detail. The animals surrounding the area add to the atmosphere of a time were food was produced close to where it was consumed. The sheep you can actually get close too and approach. Museum staff is adorable! =) Super helpful in setting up the voice guides. Definitely a bucket list item for viking and nature fans.
Notes I wish I had before going:
1) It's a huge place! Go with time. At least half a day. The museum closes at 17h, that can complicate an afternoon visit.
2) Start at the museum, it will give you context on the landscape where the village sits.
3) Take food with you. There is a coffee shop there, but limited meal choices. Only one restaurant close by. Decent food, but bit pricey. Not very friendly to foreigners, no English menu.
4) If you are into woods, you can take some extra time to explore the area around.
5) If you go by public transport, remember it's a rural area. Flashier clothes / left leaning symbols may get you an occasional intrigued and not so friendly pair of eyes.. or comments.

The museum could have offered more for its 9 euro entry. On the bousche , there looked like there was full boats, but there were only models, also even though the museum was open, the Viking Houses were closed Nov.1 at. could not even get near them, I guess it was ok just expected More.

A bit of a walk up to the museum with a strong exhibition, concentrating more on on the every day trading, Impressive bit of a long boat. A long drag up to the village but worth it. Expect some crowds reserve a table at "Odins when you arrive for later.

There is 5 minutes walking distance from parking place.
Parking is for free.
The museum is focused more on the vikinger community not on the ships. Inside is explained very clear the traditions, trading development with many exhibits.
And most likely, is to find out that this small village Haithabu was the most important city in the North of actual Germany.
10 minutes away are small vikinger Houses of the different traders.

I attended the summer Market (Viking event) held on the archaeological site. So, a visit inside the museum was absolutely necessary. The museum is very interesting as you will see all the items found so far on the site. I heard that the searches are not finished yet, so more items are added year after year.
Helcanen Hikari — Google review
Though it is an impressive collection, a lot of objects are not dated. Also, unlike visits to museums in other countries, these can be loud here. There are no marked paths, so people come and go at will, meaning that on busy days you might bump into other visitors.
It is really worth the visit, however. Dont 4get to visit the giftshop!!!

Stepping into the Viking Museum Haithabu was a riveting journey back in time. Situated near Schleswig, Germany, this open-air museum immerses visitors in the heart of Viking culture. The village-like setting instantly transported me to the bustling life of a bygone era.
The visit was a treasure trove of discovery, unveiling a captivating collection of artifacts. Intricate jewelry, powerful weapons, and everyday tools painted a vivid picture of the Vikings' craftsmanship and daily existence. Strolling through the meticulously reconstructed village was a fascinating experience, as I explored intricately designed dwellings, bustling workshops, and even ancient ships.
The staff's wealth of knowledge added depth to the adventure, offering fascinating insights into the historical significance of each exhibit. What truly set this museum apart was its innovative approach, seamlessly blending interactive displays with informative panels. This catered to diverse interests, making the past come alive in an engaging and educational way.
As I left the Viking Museum Haithabu, I carried with me a newfound appreciation for the intricacies of Viking history. This visit was more than just a trip; it was a captivating exploration of a rich and enigmatic past that continues to intrigue and inspire.

Gottorf Castle, a 16th-century fortress located on Schleswig Museum Island, houses national art and archaeology museums along with a restaurant. Originally built in the 12th century, the castle has undergone various architectural transformations over the centuries. The site features an impressive collection of artifacts dating back to the castle's origins and includes a well-presented display of the Nydamboat, a 23-meter Viking boat found nearby.
Great House and fantastic exhibitions, always a good day out. Whether the extra or standard exhibition, go there.

Stopped here driving from Germany to Denmark. You can walk around outside for free. It is very picturesque! There was a small Cafe on the grounds. Plenty of free parking.
Toni Sterling — Google review
Not too expensive, but compared to other museums, it's also not too exciting. It had a bunch of weird pictures from a modern artist throughout the old castle items, which threw off the vibe. Given that many countries have national museums with cheaper or free entry, this doesn't really compare, either with regard to the exhibits nor the architecture. If you are nearby it's worth a quick visit, but I would not drive just to get here.

Great Museum. Spent the day here and didn't get to see everything. The Palace has 2 Museums, one of the local history, the other of Art and Culture. There were also 2 art exhibitions, 1 one of which was included in the price of €10, the other was 5€ extra. The Gardens and park were free, the Globus in the gardens is an extra 3€. Great value for money. Highly recomended. Haitabu, Schleswig, Kappeln and the Schlei are all very close by.

Amazing collection showing pieces from the county from the building of the original castle back in the 1100s. No English translation on the individual exhibits, but a nice description in general of each room on a display stand.
The Nydamboot display, a 23m viking boat found in a nearby bog, in a separate building is very well done.
We didn't have tune to see the baroque gardens, the archaeological exhibit, or the other art displays in the stable buildings, so definitely a reason to go back again.

Because of the times we live, we visited just the gardens and the exteriors. Everything was very nice and well maintained. The gardens are beautiful, but we went there with a buggy and it is tricky to visit the gardens because are a terrasse garden, lots of stairs and the gate at the very top of the garden was close 🙁. But we cached a beautiful autumn day, perfect for a 2-3 h walk.

A museum with some unique archeological pieces. When pre historic Northern Germany is a interest of you, it will be a good visit. Otherwise, the way the information is displayed is a bit outdated and not very engaging.
This was a very interesting museum - we spent 3 hours! Lots of variety; ship models, fishing industry in the area, whaling, Husum ship building industry(who knew?), shipwrecks and rescue, and the most amazing remains of a 400 year old wreck of the "Uelvesbuell" from this area, plus so much more. Would highly recommend a visit.

Reederei Cassen Eils has a rich history dating back to the 1950s, when it became the first German shipping company to offer regular services to Helgoland after World War II. The company reached its peak from the 1970s to the 1990s. Their ship M/S Helgoland, built in 2015, offers a comfortable and stable journey despite rough seas.
(Translated by Google) On September 8th, 2023 we booked a trip on the catamaran “Nordlicht” in captain’s class from Cuxhaven to Heligoland and back. We can really recommend choosing the captain's class, as you don't go to Heligoland every day. It was an unforgettable day for us with an outstanding crew, an elegant ship, calm seas, meals on board, not included, and fantastic weather of 24 degrees on Heligoland.
The car can be parked in the shipping company's Helgoland parking lot, which costs 5 euros for the whole day. Reservations are not required as there is ample parking space. Passengers traveling by regular ship can board directly there. When using the catamaran, a shuttle bus takes passengers to the “Alte Liebe” pier. In the evening a ten-minute walk back is required.
If we travel to Helgoland again, we will definitely only do so with this shipping company!

We had reserved tickets on board M/S Helgoland, a ship built in 2015 and owned by Cassen Line in Cuxhaven, to travel to Helgoland. When we boarded we did not know that the daily round trip to this island had been cancelled for the past 3 days because of a storm from NW. The sea state was still a bit rough but the ship has good stabilisers, allowing most of the passengers to enjoy their breakfast on board in style being eager to reach their destination in the North Sea. After 2.5 hours we reached Helgoland in pouring rain and some 30-35 knots of northwesterly wind making our way by foot to our hotel.

We took this ferry service to sail to the Seehundbänke. The ride was around 3 hours. They start the trip from the Alte Liebe towards Kugelbake and then make a u-turn to the Seehundbänke. This part takes 1.5 hours. You get to hear the history of the different landmarks on the way in german. Today, we saw 17🦭s bathing in the sun on the sand bank from the ferry. The viewing time from the ferry is around 10 minutes from each side of the ferry for all passengers. Bring a pair of binoculars if u really want to see the beautiful animals upclose. It might be frustrating for toddlers, young children to sit and not be able to see the animals so clearly. I assumed from the description on the website and from different google reviews, that we would be able to get off and walk on the bank towards the seals. For the price of 33€/person round trip, I found it not worth my time and money. If the description had been constructive and clear, I could have saved this time for relaxing on the Duhnen beach. This is one expensive learning experience😅. In the far background you could see the wind turbine farms. Remember to bring a windbreaker with hoodie and snacks for the ride if you don't want to spend more money at their restaurant.

Pros:
- you can book online and see availability
- longest time on Helgoland from all the ferry companies from all cities (you have to travel Wednesday, thursday or friday. Even with the delays, we had 4h45)
Cons:
- they advertise a travel duration of 2h but it was 2h45 both ways
- the employees sit with a donation box right in front of the woman's toilet door and even ask you if everything was fine when you leave, so you feel obligated to leave money
- it's expensive
- the return trip was a bit overbooked

Bei der Alten Liebe 12, Fährhafen 4, b. d. Alten Liebe 12, 27472 Cuxhaven, Germany
The U-Boot Wilhelm Bauer is a significant piece of history, having been scuttled in 1945 and later restored to its original state. This diesel-electric Type XXI submarine was commissioned just before the end of World War II but never went on patrol. After being salvaged and re-commissioned for the West German navy, it was eventually converted into a museum ship in 1984.
Wonderful experience. It's a real submarine which was in Service for the nation. Must visit place.

Interesting history of this vessel. If you are in town, it is worth visiting.

A unique museum! If you go to Bremerhaven, this is a must-see place. 🥰
Before visiting it, we thought it is a normal museum in shape of a submarine with some photos hanging inside it; but it is actually a submarine with all of its real details, furniture and equipment. There is just one level open for visiting, however, there are some cameras for other levels (basement level) and you can control them to see the other sections. As it is a real submarine, the ceiling is not that high, so watch you head during your visit 😇. It is open everyday from 15 March till 10th of November (even on Sundays and holidays).
Although the ticket is very cheap, but you can also get a discount on tickets using your student card 😉

If you like machinery, boats or just plain war stuff - a must place to visit

The experience of seeing a submarine from the inside, the small space where a crew of 58 had to work together, and to see so much technology cramped in there, is really a great experience. All information boards are in German and English. To get from one compartment to another, you have to climb through small circular doorways.
And with an entry fee of 3.50 Euro per adult, it is definitely worth seeing.
Elaine R. — Google review
Worth seeing a real 2nd WW submarine from the inside! The engines, a missile, but especially the bedrooms with the bunk beds and the kitchen and the two toilets. The visit will take just about ten minutes, one way through it.
monica pronzini — Google review
Great museum! It is very interesting to look at on the inside and outside. Lots of things are labeled and many rooms have furniture and such. Also, the doorways are still small holes so watch your head!

A well presented museum. The entrance fee was good value . Well worth a visit. There are explanations in German and English which is a bonus. It's amazing how they managed in such a confined area.

One of only 4 U Boats exist today and this is one of them. Scuttled in 1945 . Awesome experience to visit a U Boat that caused so much destruction of the Merchant Navy during WWII and it felt poignant as I'm a seafarer . Not expensive. Worth a visit . Very interesting but if you have disability then be aware access inside the submarine requires bending down to get into each section. The Das Boot is in remarkable good condition.
Guy Hamilton — Google review
Fantastic and unique experience, much better than expected. It's just what it says, a submarine, and you can go at your own pace through all the sections. Well documented in English and German, and the feeling is kept with well placed speakers producing realistic about engine and tubing noises. A technical marvel.
Pablo Romero — Google review
Amazing history, labeled in both German and English. Audio of U-boat noises throughout the tour. Definitely worth the €3,50 entry fee.
Klimahaus Bremerhaven 8 ° Ost is a modern meteorological center that offers interactive and family-friendly exhibits on weather and climate. Opened in 2009, this unique attraction takes visitors on a journey through various climate zones and cultures along the 8th meridian east. As you explore, you'll experience changes in temperature from the German North Sea Coast to the rainforest in tropical Cameroon, with each zone providing a multisensory experience of sounds, smells, and scenery.
Very interesting exhibition, various sides of different part of the planet, an aquarium with colorful fish, caymans, well organized, friendly staff. There is underground big parking. We payed 5.5 EUR for 4.5 hours. The WC in parking is paid, but it’s free inside museum. There is restaurant with vegan street food, the prices a little bit high for such quality of food. There are the lifts. You can go upstairs on the roof and breath with fresh air.

An amazing Museum and experience!! The place is very big and takes many hours to visit. The architecture of the building is amazing and unique, such as the design of each room. I loved that it’s a journey through many country’s, and climates. I enjoyed deeply how each room and place would stimulate all different sensations, such as smells, temperature, visuals, touch, sounds and so on. Very beautiful place and amazing experience.

Very well thought through and informative exhibition. A must visit... Something comparable at times to the Tate modern. A few of the fixed tour audio descriptions need repairing, but otherwise a super experience. Restaurant is well priced with freshly cooked and prepared food to meet most tastes, facilities (toilets and baby changing rooms) are well maintained and conveniently located. Good access to 90% of all areas to those who can walk or for prams / buggies. Commit yourself fully to the experience (especially your time) and if you like to be informed about the world (and man's affects on it) and you won't be disappointed (though you might be saddened)

Great museum. Went for the afternoon ticket and honestly did feel I'd rushed a bit. One could easily spend upwards of 4 hours there. Connected to the Moin shopping outlet and on the Bremerhaven waterfront it's a great place to visit for sure. Different rooms represent different climates as you travel across the world at 8° East. Lots of fun gimmicks (slides, trampolines, tunnels with glass bug cages and shaky rope bridges over fish) to keep children entertained and interesting facts and life experiences from people throughout the world. Highly reccomend.

This is a very nice place to feel the world from mountains, desert, Antarctica, Alaska, Samoa, Switzerland. When you walk to each section, you feel cold of glacier, Antarctica.very informative with English and Germany. You can feel the human and nature conflict from the story of people. The hardship of life in each place , the unique ethic group.

I honestly expected the rooms to be bigger. Nonetheless it was a great experience. I loved the climate change and the animals made it seem a lot more real. My favourite thing was the "jungle at night". I definitely recommend this place, especially for people who love to explore the world, but don't have the chance to travel. It's also great for kids who are enthusiastic about nature.

I mean, it was really well thought through. I loved the Antarctica place. Of course I love ice and snow. But I was very very very impressed. Worth your money

Very nice museum that is worth your money!!!
It’s a museum that is so unique from others. U start in Germany and the museum travels along the world through many many places with climates like desert , tropical forests and cold ice
When your in antártica the room has ice on the floor and it feels hot . In Africa there was sand and it felt very hot inside there . This place is fun for adults and especially children. There’s always audioguides and text with information about the place and about the environment in general .

Idea of the place is wonderful. Unfortunately I was expecting better experience with more interaction and acticity. Moving through rooms are not well organised, I missed going to some rooms as I entered one. Even the top roof, the view was blocked from seeing the town in some direction. Tickets cost 20€ but from 15.00 it is reduced to 18€

Don't miss this beautiful place, my 88yr old mother loved it as did I, and hopefully we will be able to see it again, I would like more time there just to sit and take it all in more.
Patricia Rose Venn — Google review
Very expensive and boring place.
A ticket for an adult costs 22 euros (after 15.00 - 18 euros) It’s full of plastic and very stuffy. There are few living plants and animals. This place gives me the impression of a poor terrarium. There was no new information at the Exhibition for us. It was a pity to waste three hours on this.

The museum is brilliant the way they have shown different weather conditions is just amazing, the best place for me was the night star installation. I didnt take many photos as I was busy seeing the museum 😅

We went as a couple on a Sunday morning, which wasn't our best idea. It was very crowded. For the next time, we would definitely use the afternoon slot (from 3pm) it's way more quiet and cheaper!
The exhibition is brilliant! My husband thought that they did not illuminate the geographic and scientific background well enough - but since it is for kids primarily, I thought it was plenty of background information. For us, it was not possible to purchase tickets in advance, but we would recommend it once it's possible again!
Simone Rueckert — Google review
Nice place with very important messaging. Unfortunately partially broken exhibits. In need of some modernization and refurbishment. Would benefit a lot from different smells in the individual regions. Cow dung in the alps, African spices, salty ocean breeze etc. English subtitles missing for all movies.
Horribly confused about the super weird Bible quotes/references/imagery completely unfitting for a science museum otherwise dedicated to factual awareness, not angels. 🤦♂️
Animal exhibits could use more space. COVID and general health measures in dire need of improvement ("disinfect your hands here" stations were all empty). The museum felt slightly overcrowded even on a very slow day.

The experience was good. It was overall a good experience, while at places I felt English translation was needed.
Also you need to have good 4-5 hrs if you have passion to read and experience the life experience of this person

Bhashitha Aiyappa — Google review
The experience was good, but I recommend it only if you have children. I was there with my girlfriend and we had fun, but we expected more excitement. The rooms are pretty small, but full of details and information and voice instructions. A little bit expensive 18 euro for after 15:00 clock and 20 euro for anytime of the day. For children it is 10-12 euro.
The Aussichtsplattform Sail City is situated 90 meters above sea level, granting visitors an expansive vantage point to admire the city and harbor. The panorama it offers evokes a sense similar to that of Toronto's CN Tower. Allowing self-operation of elevators, this platform provides a splendid view of the surroundings. It was truly captivating to witness the entirety of the city from this elevated spot, despite the chilly temperatures experienced there.
Nice view feeling like Toronto Canada CN Tower. Here all of them self operated in elevators nice view see side.

The German Emigration Center, also known as Deutsches Auswandererhaus, is a large and modern museum in Bremerhaven that tells the stories of over 7 million Europeans who left their homes through the city's port in search of a better life in the New World. The museum showcases real-life accounts and numerous memorabilia, allowing visitors to immerse themselves in the experiences of immigrants in Germany.
Wow! My family emigrated to the USA from Germany so it was very interesting to learn about the whole history and process. I thought it would be boring but the museum is set up in a way that is really interesting. Many rooms make you feel like you are experiencing everything yourself. We didn't even get to see everything before they closed. Highly recommended, especially for a trip with kids/schools!

The Deutches Auswandererhaus, also known as the German Emigration Center, Bremerhaven, is an incredible recreation of the fraught travels experienced by millions of people who migrated from Europe to mainly the US, South America and Australia.
You can see realistic mock ups of the conditions people endured on long sea voyages, in ships cabins and other areas. There are also exhibits detailing how they were affected by the unfolding history and political issues of the time.
You also learn very detailed, personal stories of some of the travellers, with their story only coming to an end in the last four or five decades alongside colour photos, and other memorabilia.
The further you go the more incredibly fascinating it all becomes. There are even computers you can use to research your own family history.
This is a wonderful, interesting and very important museum that everyone should have a chance to visit. Very highly recommended.

If you're in Bremerhaffen, this is a museum well worth visiting. It's very realistic and subdued for the times it represents. These are people escaping.. or as they say.. wandering out of Germany. There was an extra fee I had to pay to use my camera but was well worth it. The figures are life like and it includes at least one thug... You see him near a wall concealing himself from being seen.. perhaps the cop that was close. Many boarded ships heading to the USA and some to Australia and other destinations. Well worth the visit.

One of the best museums I have visited, well organised and very interesting, more so if you have had family emigrate from Europe in the last 4 centuries

We have been there at 16:15 … and the employee mentioned us that 90 - 105 min are too short. Fir an impression leaving out the German parts it was at least time enough - even for our Aussi-friends. Good concept, backgrounds and interesting.

the best museum i've ever visited, it's almost too digitally fitted for Germany!! There are a lot of stories presented of many foreigners who came to Bremen/Bremerhaven and also of emigrants from Germany to Australia/America! In addition to that, there are a lot of audio stories to listen to which is amazing when it comes to the balance between reading and hearing :)

German Emigration Center, Bremerhaven
This is a simple WOW! A buddy of mine, Richard Vinken recommended us to visit this place!
It’s where most Germans, (even Eastern Europeans) boarded ships over a 200 year period to find a better life on other shores! Predominately USA, but also Canada, South America and Australia!
This exhibition is so well put together that it brings the whole history and relevant stories to life!
Truly a multimedia celebration of an important aspect of the early German desire to find a better life on other shores!
It basically walks you through the process of boarding a ship in Bremerhaven, shows how 3rd class travellers had to be accommodated, and gives an impression of arrival at Ellis Island, and how to proceed further into the Country!
To Fully understood the various upheavals that occured during these times makes it even better to comprehend and I recommend to go on line to all those interested to fully absorb this history
Even what few People know or realise is that the German influence in the US is simple represented by the fact that it is the dominant ethic group of the US even today!
Whatever the case, my photo’s cannot express the true experience, but will give it an inside!
Whoever designed this exhibition did an outstanding job, and this is one place that is a total must to see!
Enjoy!

Such an innovative way to explore a museum and learn about the situation and emigration process. They give you a profile and you walk around in that era moving from your country to destination keeping yourself in the shoes of that person. Interesting fact that all of you will have a different person, come from different years, have a story linked.
Must visit museum

Nice museum. Really shows the journey the migrants made in the past. You can even follow the story of a migrant attached to you.
The only downside is that there is almost no information about current migration, some statistics or information about how migration currently is in Germany would be nice and really needed!

If you are an American with German ancestry, this museum is amazing in helping to get a better understanding of why you speak English and live in America. The lives of the immigrants from Germany were difficult and worth remembering.

A really wonderful museum that is interactive and informative, and set up that it tells the (moving) stories of so many in the world who took a chance at a better life. It's also very educational, and interesting to see how other visitors respond to deep questions of our time. Simply a must visit (...ps, I got startled by the real life size mannequins, they were so real!)
Modern, waterfront zoo specialising in aquatic & Nordic animals, with enclosures & salt water tanks.
Great place to have a family tour!! The zoo is small but very nice. It is a great experience to see polar bears. The most amazing part is that all animals were reallly happy to see people that the come close and start playing in front of you. You got the feeling that they were posing for the pic.

Wonderful zoo perfect for young kids with a kids area for them to play and climb and use up some energy while the parents can watch from the cafe. Nice selection of mostly see fairing animals, bird and fish. The polar bears and the penguins got the biggest crowd of kids and parents and if you check the time tables you can watch them feed the penguins. The aquarium is small but looks great and will keep the young kids entertained. The have lots of areas to stop and rest with the kids if they need a break or if you do. The cafe is nice and simple with all the things you could want. There is a gift shop if you want to buy some souvenir’s. The day tickets let you renter the zoo if you feel like stepping out for lunch and the returning to the animals again or play in the kids area. Would recommend it for everyone and will certainly be returning

We had a lovely visit to the zoo. Fortunately the weather was good and quite warm so pleasant to wander around in. It is a good sized zoo for smaller children but enough to interest them.
Size of carpark a bit of an issue causing difficulty in finding a space especially as we had a booked zoo time. Ended up 30 minutes late but still got in.

Bremerhaven Zoo is a comparatively small zoo on a waterfront. It is barely a few hundred metres across, but features enough exhibits to allow you to enjoy a visit there for a few hours.
The highlight has to be the polar bears. We saw three of them, and their enclosure was massive, with plenty of features and hide away areas for them to hang out in.
There were also seals, sea lions, penguins, and other cute creatures. There were plenty of descriptions of all the animals, as well as the threats some of their species face to their future.
There was also an aquarium with a display of various marine animals, all well lit and dazzling to look at.
The enclosures for some of the animals do look a bit small, but there do seem to be areas for them that you can't easily notice.
There is the mandatory gift shop, but this is always good to purchase from as this helps the zoo. There is a good cafe as well, as well as good facilities.
The zoo is nicely placed in a great setting which allows for great photos. It is also great for kids due to its size, and good fun. Highly recommended.

I went alone, as a 1st time, i was excited to be there with out my kids. It was fun, it was cozy, the animals are well fed, clean, seems happy and enjoying their time, though, the Puma should have a bigger space for her slef though. Penguins were fun, cute, curious too, I will, for sure, when my Kidds are with me, bring them on daily basis to the zoo, i paid 8 euro, there's a good play area for kids, the mini restaurant seemed so clean and the food was good. As a family, I'd enjoy my time, overall it's a clean, quite and well maintained zoo. It won't be my last visit, I'm in love.

Cute, clean and esthetically well built.
It was a nice experience as an adult but probably even more fun for kids and lots of information for the little ones too.
I found it reasonably priced for the size but in my opinion some of the animal enclosures were too small...

Good zoo, although a bit small, they made good use of the space. In general I am always concerned that by going to the zoo I am supporting something I disagree with. However, I do know that often these animals can not be released and have in most cases been rescued from a worse fate. I got the impression that this zoo does care about the animals and that they are treated well. The areas were clean and the animals looked healthy and clean. My children enjoyed the educational aspects of their visit and the admission cost was very reasonable.

It was a lovely experience for me and my kids. I guess because it was not crowded and we enjoyed everything we saw slowly. It is not as big but enough to get your kids entertained and tired at the end of the day which what we parents would want. Food is available, terrace was nice, view of the sea, the animals were entertaining, polar bears were three. I saw some only one or two. But there were three and cuddling. Penguins and sea lions were cheerful and surprisingly not that smelly. We enjoyed the aquarium as well. We went there on winter and it was worth the drive from our Center Parcs
Kugelbake, a 98-foot-tall wooden beacon, is a prominent landmark in Cuxhaven, marking the northernmost point of Lower Saxony where the Elbe River meets the North Sea. Once an important sea mark guiding ships, it now offers tourists stunning views of the North Sea. The area around Kugelbake is perfect for beach walks and camping trips by the seaside. Visitors can also enjoy water sports like sky skiing with parachutes nearby.
It's not only just another day beacon, it marks the point where Elbe and Weser 'meet'. If in Cuxhaven one should visit this landmark.

Kugelbake is one of my all time favorite places in Cuxhaven. From here, you can watch the ships go by. It’s also right next to the beach, and there’s even a small zoo within walking distance (est. 5-10 min.). So, whether you want to spend the day here, or even just a few hours, there’s plenty to do and see.

Really refreshing for a good walk. If you are a good swimmer then I would absolutely recommend a swim in this area. Of course you can sit along and do the sun bath as well, but strolling down this area is complete fun. It is an experience within itself, just go and feel it. Neat and clean, bustling with people but not a really big crowd, so it is better as compared to other beaches I have been.

It is a navigational structure on the edge of the cape, from here there are incredible views of the city and many large and small boats, ferries and container ships entering and leaving the Elbe. However, if you are very hungry, you can pick up some oysters, right on the beach which starts (or ends) here, especially at low tide, it's delicious and absolutely free;)

Love the view and the feeling here. The tower is really old and kinda rusty but it's just a milestone here. The main viewpoint is the beach and the sea.
This is a good place for a camping trip by the seaside. You and family members can join the Sky skiing with parachute class near here to explore a new kind of water sport. However, depending on the weather, the time for swimming and skiing may varies unexpectedly. The day I came here, the weather was kinda bad so the time for swimming was very short (16:45 to 18:00).

When we were there, it was super windy and the water was pretty cold. So, make sure to check weather forecast, if it is windy dont forget to wear something that protect your body from the wind.
The sand is so smooth and the facilities are good. For somebody from Indonesia, it is not typical beach for swimming but still enjoyable for walking only.
We parked the car nearby. It seems at night the parking is free. We arrived sometimes at 7 pm and we paid maybe 1 or 2 euro and the park is until 10 am the next day. There is a special parking for people with van/ caravan too.

It is the symbol of Cuxhaven and has been on the city's coat of arms since 1913 . A previous building still served as a lighthouse; today the Kugelbake is only illuminated at night as a tourist attraction.
Modern bathing complex with indoor & outdoor pools, enclosed slides & wicker chairs on the beach.
When the weather isn't great, this place is a great escape.
The selection of slides, wave pool and lazy river times make it a good (but a bit too expensive) place to take the kids

Forced nakedness. Attention international guests. There are very few places in the world where saunas require their paying customers to be stark naked. Not even in Finland does this happen. Germany still has this tradition, and it is only that: a tradition. There is no hygiene problem in all the other countries, no factual reason to not use a bathing suit. In fact, to make it more ridiculous they then expect you to use textile (sauna towel) between you and the bench, but god forbid that textile cover your skin. So due to the fact that management opted to follow a meaningless tradition (and probably without actually taking an informed decision about it), you will not be allowed to do as is right for you. For international guests, this is not as normal as German businesses believe it is. I for one prefer to be treated as an adult.

Great swinging pool. Nice and fun slides. Wave pool. All the baths are salt/sea water. Great food for decent prices at the restaurant. Can be busy during the summer times. Great place when bad weather in SPO! The view to the North Sea and the dunes is really great. Why only 3 stars? Price is very high for water fun (not Sauna) and you have just one baby pool which is so flat, that the babies get cold so early, that you only can use the whirlpool. The other pool is too cold unfortunately and not suitable for babies.

Great place, it really is. A fun spa, affordable, everything well organised and clean. Water nice and warm, has some sea water mixed in, not pure sea water. Not huge, can get crowded. The little part of the pool that goes outside, a super experience in the dead of winter. ADDENDUM They are closed until Easter because of sudden increase of energy cost.

It is amazing to have a sunset view of the sea from the distance and be able to swim in filtered sea water! It does wonders for the skin, especially rashes. Prices were good too. The only thing I would like to see is the outdoor pool heated up a few more degrees!

The "Dünen Terme" is currently being renovated, so inform yourself on the status before visiting!
We mainly visited the Spa. The Saunas are nicely build, there is one Sauna with a amazing view on the ocean and open fire. This is just stunningly beautiful.
The indoor relaxing area is also very nice with big couches and beautiful beach/ocean view.
I recommend to not go during weekend, as the place gets crowded fast. We have been there on Sunday and couldnt bare all the people at some point and had to leave early.
The dressing area should be redone, as it certainly has seen its best days.

Fantastic sauna with wonderful view on the beach. But service at the entrance is really bad. Endless queues (3 persons present but only one cash desk), unfriendly staff, bad explanation lead to confusion and request for additional money... Quite expensive.
The public beach at Sankt Peter-Ording-Strand is a protected area within a national park, boasting abundant wildlife and vegetation. Regular beach control ensures that access requires purchasing a ticket. The weather can be harsh in winter, but the frozen sea offers a unique sight. This beach is renowned for its natural beauty and radical effectiveness in refreshing one's mind. The wind takes care of hairdos, making visits to the hairdresser unnecessary.
National Park, quite wild, protected birds and vegetation. The control of the beach is frequent and you have to buy a ticket to access it.
No need to go to the hairdresser before, the wind will solve the problem, it's fresh, it's beautiful, it's good for a change of mind, it's quite radical and effective.
In winter that could be cold and you can see the frozen sea !

We very much liked the food (Matjes, salads), restaurant quality especially given the location. The prices are however clearly too high, period. Also, we got politely reminded that only kids can eat the fries from the kiosk at the tables. That was a bit off, given the staff was otherwise very friendly.

Nice little bar/restaurant/café right by the sea. Good looking and tasting dishes, nice cakes and a great view.

Obviously, the location of this beach restaurant is fantastic, but the food is nor more than OK and slightly overpriced. The menu limits itself to touristy versions of "traditional" local dishes, but the fish is fresh and the service friendly - unless you ask for takeaway, chips or ice lollies which apparently raises the landlord's hackles.

Typical beach cafe on piles as some others at the beach. Friendly staff, price for food and drinks are OK. It is the last beach cafe in the North of the sandbank offshore St. Peter Bad. It is also open in winter, so it is worth to stop by after you had a walk and are freezing. In Corona times you have to order at the desk and they will bring it to your table.

Nice little beach restaurant directly on the beach. Great view over the beach. Cakes were okay. Coffee good. The service was great.
Compact museum showcasing coastal landscapes & modern installations with a nautical theme.
It may not be the Orsay, but it is a precious little well curated museum focusing on artwork depicting the sea and coastal life. Well worth a trip!
I especially appreciated them checking the patrons' testing and vaccination status at the door, not just by glancing at it, but rather verifying it with an official verification app - the way it is supposed to be done.

Small, but beautifully curated by people who clearly care deeply about art and the specific highlights presented in their exhibitions.

A visit to the Museum of the West Coast is always nice. The museum is well done and, with its changing exhibitions, offers a new journey of discovery through the different rooms and levels every time.
There is also a small museum shop.
The entrance fees are absolutely reasonable.

This is a hidden gem on the pictures island of Föhr. Highly recommended. Resembles beautiful art of renowned artists, engaged in art research as well as giving local artists space to display their art work. Thumbs up for the exhibition. The building is a jewel, tugged into the frisian style village of Alkersum.
For visitors who know Louisana museum Copenhagen, similarities are well in place.Beautiful...
No queues to get in. Most beautiful garden Café...Top Adresse!

Not the first time there. I thought I would find the pub, Faith, Love, Hope. Didn't disappoint there, just some exhibits. To my wife's delight, she was able to see the old masters again. During this time I was able to use one of these comfortable armchairs, with the music in the walkway. I was already seeing the pictures with my eyes closed. Pure relaxation. The view into the yard every now and then - everything fits, well done.
