Propaganda Monument - Victorious Fatherland Liberation War Memorial
The Propaganda Monument - Victorious Fatherland Liberation War Memorial is a national military museum that has been open since 2013. It displays artifacts and offers guided tours related to the country's historic war. The museum showcases monuments that commemorate the nation's victory over its enemies, with an emphasis on glorifying their leader who allegedly possessed divine powers. Despite displaying propaganda, the museum attracts visitors who appreciate its unique atmosphere created by loud soldiers and the smell of preserved carcasses.
OMG I loved the constant propaganda, the shouty soldiers and the stinky smell of rotting carcasses! 10/10 would do again.

Best Korea did not meet my expectations unfortunately, there was not enough propoganda shown so this monument did not live up to it's name. This ultimately did not ruin the experience, however, since I met former NBA star Dennis Rodman with his friend. He was a little fat though.

All hail our glorious leader Kim who single handedly defeated the evil American capitalists who tried to depose our glorious nation by using his godlike powers. All that is seen here was left behind by the American cowards. The photo below was the only picture I could take of our most Glorious Leader without being destroyed. God, I mean, Kim bless us all

Memorial of the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea
The Memorial of the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea, inaugurated in 1958 and renovated in 1984, consists of three main buildings: the Memorial Pagoda, Exhibition Hall, and life-sized Diorama Hall. The Exhibition Hall features 10 showrooms with over 500 pictures and 1000 artifacts depicting scenes from the war. Visitors can enjoy a spectacular 360-degree diorama of the battlefield.
Very good museum. Also refreshing and unusual from a western perspective are sections about the "unglamorous" units in war and what the enemy did good.

Jinjiangshan Park, located on the southern slope of Jinjiang Mountain, is a well-maintained and expansive park in Dandong. The park offers a pleasant retreat with its forested slopes and the iconic Jinjiang Pagoda at the mountain's peak. In the mornings, visitors can witness locals practicing tai chi amidst the serene surroundings. This park provides an ideal setting for relaxation and offers a nostalgic journey through time with its beautiful lotus ponds and tranquil ambiance.

Famous damaged bridge between China and North Korea in Dandong. Americans destroyed it during Korean War. Some parts of bridge is open. You can walk along until the end of broken bridge. Nowadays very popular tourist attraction point, well known and visited. This location exists on those historic events. Therefore many restaurants are there. You will get to Dandong by railway. We started from Shenyang to Dandong., maybe it took about 1 and a half hour. Train very modern and fast with air conditioner. So the travel was relaxing. Sometimes North Koreans speak to you. They advertise Korean Snow Mountains for skiing.

If you are one of the few Westerners travelling to North Korea via the border town of Dandong, you will undoubtedly pull into the train station. And if you have some spare time turn right when leaving the station and walk a few blocks to the river and have your first look at North Korea and the Yalu River Broken Bridge. And, spoiler alert, there is no tension. It was in fact quite peaceful and deserted when we came to visit in the morning. A few security guards but they were disinterested in us. We mostly wandered and took pictures of statues and monuments and the bridge of course with the Hermit Kingdom on the other side. Certainly, this is where one can visually see the stark difference between the third world conditions of North Korea on one side of the Yalu River and the affluent, more commercialized condition on the other.
As for the bridge itself, you can pay an admission fee to walk to the end but we chose not to as there didn't seem to be much to attract us to walk on the bridge halfway across the river, especially since in less than an hour we would be taking the train all the way across anyway. Still, a much photographed location with huge political connotations.

Hushan Great Wall is a renowned historical landmark located near the border that features a massive wall, a gate tower and twelve watchtowers. Tourists are drawn to this attraction for its breathtaking scenery both inside and outside the country, with Sinuiju city in North Korea serving as an impressive vista from outside. The road leading to Hushan Great Wall is well-maintained, although shade may be scarce along the way.
Love the hike up and down the walls and also along the border line. I never came so close to the North Korean border. It was not crowded as we went on off peak season. But definitely worth a half day trip to take the hiking in this great country side of Dan Dong city.

(Translated by Google) On July 10th, I visited by bus from the passenger station in Dandong. Before that, I wanted to go to the Taiyo Island Travel and Leisure Area, but I gave up because I didn't know how to get there. It was a sunny and hot day, and there wasn't much shade in the area, so I bought ice cream twice. A little trouble at the entrance. Elderly people are supposed to be exempt from paying, but the lady at the ticket office told me that ``foreigners are not eligible,'' so I paid normally. Even though there was no charge for Changbaishan and Fangchuan... There was no mention of this in Badaling, a 5A national scenic spot, or in Wulingyuan or the Big Bear and Cat Training Base in Chengdu. Is it for 4A class (managed by local government?) or for Japanese people?
To climb the Great Wall, there are stairs (steeper than Badaling). It's hard because it's hot. From above, you can see the farmlands and people of Korea across the river. On the way back, I go down the same stairs (some people get caught on the handrail and back down). In narrow areas, the center part is worn out, so step on both ends. On the way back, I took a bus (not a regular bus, it was full) from in front of the entrance and got off at Dandong station. The return trip is about 5RMB cheaper.
