Water & Amusement Parks
Indoor & outdoor theme park for young kids, with rides, shows & activities in vibrant surrounds.
We had a really good time here. :)

Today was not too busy, and there was no waiting time. The toilet was exceptionally clean. However, I believe the one in Antwerp is even better.
The staff members were friendly. Considering the cost, I recommend bringing your drinks because it can be quite expensive. We paid nearly €5 for just a can of Minute Maid Jus’d Orange! As for food prices, they typically range from €13 to €14.
Anyway, the park outside is closed without any notifications on the website, so be careful if you expect this.
Nok Werner — Google review
Kids would enjoy it but parents will be disappointed. Price-quality is far from optimal based on attractions. Food corners are a rip off with very limited choice at sky high prices (no wonder that everyone had own food with them). Get some ear protection as the music comes from all corners amd is very loud. You almost have to shout in order someone to hear you
Alexander Ras-Angelov — Google review
Great place to go with small kids. Good to go on rain days because it has a lot of indoor intertainment. But on sunny days also has nice activities outdoor.
sandra evaristo — Google review
The place is amazing! Worth a long drive, especially in the winter when there’s nothing else to do!
Games are suitable for 2+ yo ideally and probably more fun for 3-5 year olds.
Food was a disappointment, the menu choices are strange for such a place and very limited. They didnt have nuggets or pizza.

Great indoor place to play, rides etc. It wasnt busy so nonwait for any ride. Once you are inside you do feel it is a bit limited.
We spend there 2 hours which is more than enough, without any waits.
Parking is exp if you stay a short time. 12.50 for parking.
Kids enjoyed the cars in the outside area (weather was ok).
Got the tickets online with discount.

Very nice place for kids indeed. We could spend the entire day there, my kids loved it. The veggie burger at the restaurant is just amazing.

Good park not too crowded and fun for small kids for a couple of hours. A bit too expensive i would say for entrance (use discount sites like tripper), the lockers, parking and food.

Nice atmosphere. Some of the rides were only open every 15 minutes due to lack of visitors

Really great indoor themepark specialized in younger kids. Many 'thrillrides'for kids and fun activities.
The park has plenty of parkingspace, and many special offers for tickets. Can recommend on rainy days

Really nice park, but quite expensive. The kids (1 and 3) enjoyed it anyway, and I definitely recommend this place for young kids!
Museum opened in 1854, with displays including locally found bog bodies & some artworks by Van Gogh.
Nice museum, unfortunately due to the ongoing renovations for a new exhibition a big part was closed but nonetheless enjoyable experience. Loved the exhibition about Antonio López, never really knew the artist but that’s what makes museum visits enjoyable. You get to learn and experience new artists and artworks. Definitely recommend going to the Antonio López exhibition before it ends.

Viva la Frida! - Life and art of Frida Kahlo. Kahlo (1907-1954) was a Mexican painter 🧑🎨 known for her many portraits, self-portraits, and works inspired by the nature and artifacts of 🇲🇽 Mexico. Inspired by the country's popular culture, she employed a naïve folk 🖼 art style to explore questions of identity, postcolonialism, gender, class, and race in Mexican society. Her paintings often had strong autobiographical elements and mixed realism with fantasy.

Nice museum with nice shop.
The exhibition about Pompei was beautiful and despite the crowds you could still see everything well. And you easily have 3hours tour with permanent collection and other exhibitions.

Visited the museum’s exhibition UNDER THE SPELL OF MOUNT ARARAT - Treasures from ancient Armenia. Beautifully curated, great Stone and Bronze Age artifacts, up to Christianity (331 AD, first Christian state).
Tradition has it that the Armenians are the direct descendants of Hayk, a great-great-grandson of Noah, whose famous Ark landed on the flanks of Mount Ararat. There is a wooden relic from the Ark from the oldest cathedral in the world: Etchmiadzin Cathedral in Armenia.

An interesting museum to have a look. The 'dying beautifully' exhibition was on when I visited. The pieces they had on Pompeii and Herculaneum was put together really tightly with nice use of space, lights and some interesting information. The permanent collection is interesting as well, though small. The more artsy collections (Rauch / self portraits) did nothing for me. The museum building itself is very beautiful and it is worth a visit if you happen to be in Assen.
Floris van Hal — Google review
Beautiful exhibition about Armenian history. Even though there was no queue but the museum was pretty full and I would recommend getting tickets in advance.
Ararat Mnatsakanyan — Google review
We have visited amazing exhibition 1. POMPEI and Herculaneum 2. Drentse veenlijken 3. Poppenhuis
Everything is amazing starting with the museum building.
Almost a thousand years ago, Cistercian nuns laid the first stone of the Drents Museum. In 1259 they received permission from the bishop of Utrecht to build a new monastery on the site where the museum now stands
The Statenzaal is without doubt the most beautiful room in the Drents Museum. The hall is lavishly decorated.
Visitors to the Drents Museum nowadays enter through a coach house from the end of the 18th century
Architect Erick van Egeraat deliberately chose the color white for the new building of the Drents Museum. White is neutral, so that the colorful collection of the museum comes into its own. White also provides an exciting contrast to the historic buildings of the museum
The floating stairs in the new building of the Drents Museum weigh 16,000 kilos each and are only attached to the upper and lower floors. The stairs were first tested in the factory in Dokkum
My favorite exhibition is Poppenhuis
In the 18th century, it was a hobby for rich women to make dollhouses. A doll's house in those days was not a child's toy, but a serious matter
a visitor can listen to a lecture by Barbara van Lier's daughter and gossip and slander in the girls' room or smell freshly baked bread in the kitchen. This is how the public imagines itself in Drenthe and Assen in the 18th century

The Van Gogh in Drenthe exhibit (temporary) is absolutely wonderful. It's immersive and informative. A really fascinating look at his early work and development. (Dec 2023)
We visited later in the day ~4pm. Facilities (shop, lockers, etc) are also modern and attractive. We're definitely going back to check out the permanent collection.
Stacey Roos — Google review
We specifically went for the Frida Kahlo exhibition, which, even during covid, was quite good and worth the trip. Although we had relatively little time left afterward, we did manage to see some of the regular exhibition as well. Apparently some of it was being remodeled, so we'll have to come back to see the rest. Because of covid restrictions only 12 people are allowed into the museum shop, so when you pass it and there's no queue, go in right away if you want to check it out.
Memorial center & museum depicting the persecution of the Jews, in a former WWII Nazi transit camp.
I walked the Westerbork trail which starts in Amsterdam and ends in the camp Westerbork. The long walk through the woods up to the camp makes you realise what really went on in this camp. The camp itself shows how it was set up. There is enough to see as you walk walk over the former camp grounds. The effects of the deported people that are displayed in the museum most sobering. But having said that I learned alot and found everything very interesting and well cared for. Definitely worth a visit.
Anja Van De Gronde — Google review
Really interesting! The visitors center has lots of information in English so you can read the stories of survivors from the camp. The actual camp is 2 km further up with a free bus between the center and the camp, its also a pleasant walk through the woods to get to the camp. There is a guided tour in Dutch but there is also lots to see as you walk around. No toilets at the camp only the visitors center so go before leaving. The cycle from Assen is also very nice and takes about 40 minutes.
Victoria A-T — Google review
Highly recommend. I only gave it 4 stars though as most of the narrative was in Dutch. On the signage I had to use Google Translate - which at times was awkward. The English pamphlet I was given only gave a brief explanation of some of the exhibits. Considering English is widely spoken outside of the NL I thought it was an oversight easily remedied. On the plus side, the audio guide was very good.
Carol Spinks — Google review
Great place to learn, I loved the way they exhibit their collection. It's just lacking a lot on English translation to most of the texts.
Diana Carolina Aldana — Google review
It's a very interesting place, it's well worth a visit if you have the time, the museum is very well done with lots of translation plates to read.
Neil Endicott — Google review
The changes that were made over recent years have made this place even more special. The glass enclosing over the commander's house are beautiful. The most special item remains the train track memorial.
Johan Haan — Google review
Very meaningful place. The museum and grounds are well kept and tell a history of Westerbork that is done very sincerely and respectfully.
Sarah Sypkes — Google review
Visiting Kamp Westerbork was a sobering and humbling experience, but it was also a reminder of the resilience of the human spirit and the power of hope in even the darkest of times. I left with a renewed sense of gratitude for the freedom and opportunities that I enjoy today, and a deep sense of responsibility to work towards a world where such atrocities can never happen again.
MaJuRo Reisboek — Google review
Sadly, I cannot recommend the Westerbork Remembrance Centre to anyone who cannot read Dutch as there are no translations with any exhibit. Given they charge 14.5 Euro's for entry, and the exhibit area is small, this really is not good enough.
There are not sufficient original exhibits to justify the entry fee. If the center is about 'remembrance' or education, then they really should not be charging anything, or at best a nominal 1-2 Euro's or invite a voluntary contribution.
This is easily the worst World War exhibition I have visited.
As an international visitor, this was a really poor experience and cannot be recommended.
Andi Harper — Google review
An impressive place to visit, I went there for the first time in my life, and while I consider myself someone who can't live without technology, I did not use my phone at all, I was fully focused on the history around me, we took our time to really take in everything, even though we didn't read a lot of the letters that were preserved because that felt like an invasion of privacy, some of the items on display really did give me anxious feelings, as if they radiated the history, which is impressive.
I recommend visiting this place, but stay respectful of everything and everyone.
(and don't talk too loud)

TOP! One of my favourite musea. Ride on prisoner's old bus recommended. "Rode pannen" was already fully booked. Have enjoyed their "kraak de code" quest/hunt!

While the old museum was focussed on the history of this prison colony (when I visited 30 years ago) the current museum gives an overview of the history of Dutch prisons and punishments in general. We opted for the extra tour around the village and that was very interesting even for my father who lives in a nearby village and has been in Veenhuizen often as the guide tells interesting stories.

nice museum that tells the tale of prison life through the ages. You can book an additional must-do tour to an abandoned prison, in my opinion the star of the show! The whole village has been preserved in the 18/19th century style. Superb.day out!

The only negative is that everything is in dutch, maybe there are english audio tours.
Walking & cycling trails in a wet moorland reserve with marsh flats, wooded areas & rare birds.
Beautiful place with many paths, good for hiking and biking. I encountered 3 deers and many different species of birds. The path through a swamp (white route) was not very long, but it's still very beautiful and relaxing to be there. This is a popular area so you most likely will see other people, but everyone was super friendly and happy.
I'd recommend getting proper shoes that you don't mind getting dirty, as some path segments can be very wet and muddy. If you plan to bike, some paths may not be suitable for a city bike (because of deep puddles that are "sticky").

Simply the best national park in Drenthe, and arguably one of the finest in the northern Netherlands!
It offers a landscape of breathtaking beauty. Here, vast stretches of heather create a vibrant purple in late summer, while shimmering fens and quiet woodlands offer year-round wonder.
Explore on foot, bicycle, or even horseback, and immerse yourself in this unique Dutch wilderness.

I recently visited the Dutch province Drenthe, known for its history and unspoilt nature. You can hike in ancient forests, through heathlands, enjoy sunrises, learn about dolmens (hunebedden), visit local villages, spend the night in nature, enjoy great restaurants and visit the typical sheepfolds. 💜

A real nice national park.if you are there it feels like you are not in Holland. Discovering this place is best by bicycle. The bicycle path that crosses the field through the middle of dwingelderveld is just amazing to do. On the far right of the field there is a bird watch station. The bicycle trail that runs there is very beautiful. It was named most beautiful bicycle path in 2017. You can definitely cover the whole area by bike in day. This park is definitely worth a visit when you are around.

Beautiful park to take a long or short walk. The woods are really quiet and amazing in summer time, and the heather with nothing but sky above makes for a most impressive view.

Lovely place to walk around and enjoy nature. There are different trails for all kind of activities like biking, walking or horse riding. There are lots of benches around to have a picnic with family or friends on a nice sunny day.

When I was young, I already visited the museum when on holiday and fortunately it still exists. The stuffed animals (work of taxidermist Piet Bos - the former name of the museum) are partly presented in beautiful "diorama's" (artwork by Piet's son, Kees Bos). For those who want to dig deeper al lot of information is available, including a lot of birds and a movie about the craftsmanship of taxidermy.

Located in a charming village, 't Zwaantje Botenverhuur Rondvaart bedrijf Restaurant offers an authentic Italian dining experience. The boat tour lasts about an hour and provides a mix of canal and lake views. While the windy lake portion may require some warm clothing, the nearby café offers a cozy spot to enjoy drinks and food. Renting a boat allows for leisurely exploration of the well-maintained village and picturesque canal-side houses.
Totally a nice way to see the town before exploring it on foot. I did not think 10 euros for one hour was too expensive. The tour guide gave just enough info needed: I did not want someone talking the entire time but leaned enough to know where I wanted to walk to after. Next time we come we will hire one of the smaller boats but seriously, walking around the town afterwards is brilliant. Saw too many people struggling with their little boats and therefore not enjoying the sights. So recommend the one hour big boat then go explore yourself.
Elizabeth D — Google review
Boat tour lasts about 1 hour. Not every moment in the canals, it takes quiet some time in the lake which is connected to the canals. The Boats use that part both for maneuvering easily and kill some time without any effort, it was not fun because it was so windy out there. Remember to bring some long sleeves jackets. The good thing is that you can drink and eat something in the caffe which is very close to the embarkment point.

When we got on the boat, there was water on the floor. Of course we didn't think this was a problem because we thought no one would give a problematic bot to a customer. During the journey, the amount of water in the boat gradually started to increase and eventually we were all in the water. We called the person in charge and he came 20 minutes later. He accusingly asked us why we hadn't told him sooner. We told him that the boat had been in the water all along. Our day was ruined and we were blamed. Rent a boat from one of the other companies here to avoid being a victim.
S?leyman Gezsat — Google review
Don’t do this tour. It is both expensive and not worth the time.
They go on a big boat around (1 big round outside) the village and you cannot get off in the middle. There is almost no introduction from the tour guide. It also does not go to some beautiful places in the middle of the village. There are also more boat tour service in the village. Or you should just walk around to take much better picture and enjoy the village. This boat tour is only worth it if it rains and you want a roof while sightseeing. Otherwise, don’t do it.

We hired a boat for ourselves here, and it was easy to ride the boat. Price was 50€ for 2 hours ride. We went around the place in blue line and it took around 2 hours to complete the ride.
We took so many photos while going. Village is maintained beautifully and house along the canal are a sight to watch.
Plan to book a boat early else you might to wait for a while line to get a boat during peak times and weekends.

It is a simple restaurant, the appearance does not look like a restaurant. Walking into the restaurant likes going back to my grandmother's house. The sideboard and table are very homey. Although the dishes are not amazing, they can just hit your heart. Come here, there is a kind of happiness around the stove. I suggested that you should go for lunch, more options.

This place is conveniently located near the bus stop. I rented a boat with my family (4 people). The price was €40 for 2 hours with a €50 deposit. A boating license is not required to rent a boat. We took the boat with a handle for steering. It's easier to steer than a boat with a steering wheel. We were given a map and a route. You can use Google Maps to see your current location and cross-reference with their map. The staff gave us instructions and helped us step in. We took the route through the canals and joined the Bovenwijde. There were no life-jackets in the boat, but the water is just 1m deep in the canals. A life-jacket is required in the Bovenwijde. From the Bovenwijde we entered the town's canals again through the Volkensvaart. There was a bit of a traffic jam with people bumping boats into one another and blocking the canals; all good fun. Just make sure you return your in time to avoid additional charges.

Gorgeous town. Really must visit place in the Netherlands. A bit crowded in summer, which limits the area to be covered in a 1hr tour, so make sure to first check with your tour guide, what are the main landmarks to cover. Smit Giethoorn was a great place to rent a tour (you can also rent a boat for yourself).

Giethoorn is a hamlet in the northeastern Dutch province of Overijssel that is mainly car-free. It's famous for its boat-filled canals, walks, bike routes, and centuries-old thatched-roof cottages. It abuts the Weerribben-Wieden National Park, a marshy region that was historically popular for peat and reed harvesting. Museum Giethoorn 't Olde Maat Uus, located next to the park, is a farm museum that depicts the region's history.
The boat riding experience is great in the spring and summer. You can book a boat in advance to ride on your own and test your sailing skills or you can get on the boat tour, sit and relax and enjoy the fellow boaters poor navigation that end them up in trouble (ha haaa..)
You also have foods available. All in all, its a good summer experience

We received broken boat and because of this (we were slower than snails) we made tour in more than 3 hours instead of 1 hour! We were with small baby, that was really a nightmare (it was very warm weather), we were calling for help and we didnt receive any help. We payed for "luxury boat", they didnt return us money. I recommend to rent a boat from different place.

Good boats for single person or small groups, easy to operate and easy to navigate around the town. I completely recommend hiring a boat and see this lovely place on boat, there can not be another better way of viewing this beautiful town and fall in love with it!
This is a lovely art gem in the middle of Friesland. The building consists of two wings coupled by a see through restaurant over a canal. Because of this intelligent architecture the museum blends into the landscape. One wing of the museum holds the permanent collection of contemporary (1980 - onwards) art. In the other wing you will find temporary exhibitions. If the art is not your thing you will certainly enjoy a walk around the acres and acres of land surrounding the museum.

30-40 % of the whole exhibition was interesting to see, other part was very boring & not impressive at all.
Staff very friendly.
Beautiful windows & view in cafe inside.

Sassenpoort is a historical landmark in the center of Zwolle, built in 1409 as the only remaining city tower. It stands at 42mts high and has four levels, originally constructed for defending the city from external attacks. The tower also served as an archive and military prison. Visitors can access all floors by paying a fee of 5 and guided tours are available in Dutch, German and English languages to enlighten them with the history of the town.
A very interesting place. An interesting brief history of the city in pictures, the decoration of the rooms. You can even shoot a bow there! Also listen to the bell. Unfortunately there is no way out. But at the top there is a window with a beautiful view of the city. If you put your phone away, you can take beautiful pictures. The ticket is only about 5 euros.

If you want to visit the three upper leves, you have to pay a fee of 5€. 💸 The guides are able to give you information in Dutch, German and English, and are well versed in the story of the city. I would say it is a must! 👌🏼

The Sassenpoort (English: Sassen gate) is a gatehouse in the citywall of Zwolle, Netherlands. It was built in 1409 out of dimension stone, mostly trachyte and tuff, and restoration work was done in 1893-1898. The gatehouse is a 'rijksmonument' and is part of the Top 100 Dutch heritage sites.

Museum de Fundatie is an art museum located in a neoclassical courthouse by the canal in Zwolle. The museum boasts of a renowned international art collection and features large-scale temporary exhibitions by contemporary artists. Its small permanent exhibit showcases representative pieces that trace the evolution of modern art while another portion can be seen at Nijenhuis Castle, 17km southeast. One cannot miss the surreal gold bird and silver sparkling snail-shaped slug of a cocoon that adorn the futuristic rooftop extension.
What an awesome experience. I can definitely recommend this Art Museum. There is a lot to see and if you keep walking up the stairs there is a little cafe where you can grab a coffee and relax. The town of Zwolle is also really nice so definitely a nice day trip no matter where in the Netherlands you are from

Great variation of works, with some gems. The remix concept gives every area a different theme. I enjoyed the spontaneity of discovering a nice piece of art in this way, instead of going from old to new.

Very nice museum with lovely staff. I love that you don't need a euro for the lockers because i so rarely carry cash and don't have to worry about where to put my winter coat! bathrooms on every floor is also great (and the soap smells good). This museum was a great surprise for us. The building is awesome and the art was great. All kinds of art is exposed from classic to very modern. If you like art it is a great place to visit. I recommend it above many of the more visited Amsterdam museums.
Toilets very clean and the staff was friendly and helpful.

A whole lot of space dedicated to a single artist, it took all of 30 minutes to see it all, mainly lots of variations of the same thing. the most interesting part of the museum was the circular roof of which there was not a single word about it's construction or materials used. Maybe there will be something to see later??

The first museum/gallery in the Netherlands we've visited which felt pompous and up it's own backside. My wife was told off before we'd even gone in for having a very small back pack - on the grounds it may knock the exhibits. I didn't see anything she could have bumped without swinging the damn thing round her head. I got told off for touching a metal shelf which I thought was simply holding up the fabric hanging on display. It stopped us enjoying the exhibition and we spent the rest of the visit thinking more about not going near stuff than actually looking at it. So we left.

Just too little pieces unfortunately. Cost 15euro to enter - well maintained and clean. It's a small city kind of museum so not fair also to compare to the likes of famous museums.

Really nice museum for a quick and inspiring visit. I’d strongly recommend that you start from the 4th floor taking the elevator at the lobby and then make your way down from the “Leiko Ikemura” expositions to the “ex- change proto” and finally to “Guillaume”.
I spent about an hour here and read almost all room descriptions. There are also guided tours, I believe those should be booked in advanced. The day that I went it was not crowded, but that was a bit unusual.
If you have the Museumkaart you can access for free.
Unfortunately the day that I was there the cafe was closed.

At the time we were there, the museum has only few rooms to offer because they were changing the exhibition (because of that we didn't have to pay for a ticket) . But we still had the chance to see some great artwork
I would visit again to see more!

The Palace of Het Loo in Apeldoorn is one of the most important national museums in the Netherlands. It has an excellent art collection, and there are guided tours of the royal apartments.
Beautiful gardens and well maintained palace with interesting audio tours. Yes the work is still ongoing to finish the front of the palace but still worth a visit. Don’t miss out on visiting the roof, especially on a beautiful day - the entrance is a bit hidden so I missed it the first time, had to ask for directions to find it.
Emma LC — Google review
Beautiful palace with beautifully restored interiors. The gardens are also breathtaking. Fully rated spoil grapes shop full of nonsense, where you can't even buy a postcard or a magnet with a palace. They don't even have any text or brochure here, just audio guides. The app could not be downloaded from the Play Store.
Mat?j Bekera — Google review
Download the app and audio tour before you go. Tour is great - informative while being entertaining and never boring. Really high quality.
Palace is great, with very helpful friendly and informative staff spread around and happy to answer questions.
Suggest allowing c1.5 hours for the Palace if doing the two sections of the audio tour, and a further 30 mins minimum for the gardens, or 1.5 hours if you intend to do the formal gardens and the orange route around the boating lake (all of which are well worth doing).
The new gallery space below the courtyard is amazing, with an interesting g exhibition about the project.

Beautiful and great looking palace. Inside there honestly isn’t really all that to do or look at but the few exhibitions and rooms you can check out are worth to check. It’s nice that they give you access to the rooftop as well which shows a beautiful view of the gardens and the surrounding area. I didn’t have time to visit the garden but if you’re there definitely visit the gardens as well, they look beautiful.

Very beautiful place. Brand new museum! 2 bar cafes restaurants with amazing lunch as well. A lot of facilities to visit and a great story to read. You need at least 3 hours to discover all the palace rooms and then at least 1 hour to walk through the gardens. There is a hike root as well so be prepared with hat, water and good shoes!
Theano — Google review
Really nice place! Lots to see! We went there just a bit before closing and ended up getting to the gardens right before they started to kick people out. If you end up with the same problem - go to the very end of the gardens first and then walk back - because they start moving people out in that direction.
Layout of the Palace was a little confusing we ended up missing one side of it but we also knew we needed to go to the gardens before they close.
Make sure you go to the rooftop! The views of the garden are maybe even better than what you would see down there.

Beautifully renovated Royal Palace in prime condition with amazing gardens in a huge park. Built by/for William III of William and Mary fame (the guy who conquered England in 1666).
The outside is Dutch Renaissance with French formal gardens and a more English park.
The inside is a wonderful collection of rooms in the Renaissance, Baroque, Empire and 1930s styles. Plus the lush new entrance in a very marbly 2020s style.
Catering is so-so. The 2 restaurants could not sell us a bottle of water for my thirsty kids. There is no vending machine, strangely.
Parking is easy and plentiful, but not cheap at 8 euros. Public transportation access is good from the Apeldoorn station.
Ventilation is disappointing. I measured up to 1,050 ppm on a reasonably busy day. Not good enough. It smells stuffy too, which cannot be good for the palace and its contents.
There are two good merchandise shops but nothing I could use in a modern styled home, apart from the obligatory fridge magnet. I think foreign visitors might love the shopping.
The broader Veluwe area is lovely and has amusement parks, forests, a hunting lodge, a Van Gogh museum and a monkey zoo.

I really enjoyed visiting this Palace Het Loo in Apeldoorn. With the museumkaart is free, though the parking is paid.
The palace is really big though visits are only allowed in part of it. The palace is really well conserved and preserved.
It has a huge garden super beautiful that you can see from the rooftop. You can also walk there and even go to the forest that is part of the visit. This forest is really worth the try so take your boots/sneakers. It has a huge and beautiful lake, statues and things like that.
You can spend an entire day over there, if you want. There is a cafe where you can buy some food / drinks.
For me, the best was the library. For those who like books, is difficult not to like it.
Cl?udia Pereira — Google review
Having visited many outstanding palaces and gardens in the UK & Europe this is certainly in our top 5, the gardens are impressive and impeccably maintained.
The entrance to the palace via the underground atrium is spectacular, although the palace is sparsely furnished it doesn’t detract form it’s grandeur.
Andrew Holt — Google review
It is very nicely organised with several routes and tours to follow. The app that you can download can give you the tour as well. Written or spoken.
Beautiful Palace as expected ofcourse! Each room with a story of its own and all the little details present, will keep you busy for as long as you'd like.
Don't forget to look up!
The restaurant is decent enough with decent prices.
The reason why it only get 3 stars from me is this:
In the public Palace gardens in front of the Palace itself, the are some nice benches you can sit and relax. To bad there's a lot of trash laying around. This also has to do with the little amount of bins available.
Inside the Palace, it is so unbelievably busy, that (at least I did) the feeling of being rushed has a constant presence. People almost pushing themselves into the next room, not keeping in account that they are not the only once there. That really put down the experience it gave.
Dennis van Bommel — Google review
Former Palace of the Royal family of the Netherlands, now a museum. Has been renovated recently. It does showcase the palace in different "states"- you can see rooms as they were in the beginning of the monarchy but also some how they looked like just 70 years ago.
Tip: download the app beforehand and bring a headset
Also plan enough time for the garden (if the weather permits it).

Palais Het Loo is really beautiful. You can spend the whole day visiting it, with your friends and family members. You can start with the indoor part of the castle and then see the beautiful gardens. You can click beautiful photos and videos to keep them as memories or share them with your dear ones. You can have a drink or lunch in the restaurant of the castle. Can't wait to visit it again!

No description inside (I liked that, but my boyfriend didn’t) although you can buy map, download an app with audio-tour or rent device to listen to. Fabulous combination between new and old architecture! watching the play of light with the water of the fountain from below is fascinating. the finest materials in the new building but by no means ostentatious. magnificent view from the roof of the palace. wonderful gardens. in the rearmost part of the site you can relax wonderfully by the lake.

a non-pretentious baroque castle, only the dutch could accomplish that. inside still pretty fancy rooms of course. also the baroque lower and upper garden. at the end there also is an entrance/ exit to the castle forest, closes at 16.30! It is in general a pity, that the castle already closed at 17.00, since a lot of nice hours could be spend in the garden in summer evenings

Very good little museum on the history of this former island. Great exhibition on how the island formed, from the Late Saalien to the formation of the Zuiderzee, and of how very hard life was on the island until the population was displaced.
Only thing missing was a little bit more information on how the Zuiderzee came to be.

Steam-driven pumping station that is still in use, with a visitor center & guided tours available.
Online reservation was not really needed in advance (the lady was even surprised it existed). So, this is a very nice area with a shop, interactive museum at the newly built visitor center, panoramic cafe, cinema room, and of course the magnificent and shiny steam station itself. It takes around 30-40 minutes co completely explore the exposition with the movies in the visitor center on yourself + 50-60 minutes to explore the station itself with the guide tour (only guided is allowed to enter). There was a person available (they are volunteers, not paid) to guide me in English almost immediately when I arrived, but it was a slow day. 9 eur ticket all included.
Surprisingly striking place given its historical importance, and would be interesting for visitors of any background.

Julianatoren Apeldoorn is a seasonal theme park located on the western outskirts of Apeldoorn, Netherlands. Geared towards children under 12, it offers over 60 rides and attractions including a Ferris wheel and several rollercoasters. The park is designed to be super child-friendly with almost every ride suitable for small kids. It features mouse and dino-themed entertainment aimed at children aged 2-10 years old.
Perfect place to go with small kids when you are close-by in the Netherlands. There are rides for kids of every age. We went with our kids who are 3 and 5 at around 11 a.m and had non stop fun until the evening. There is ample parking space and they charge 10€ per car. Parking is a bit far away from the entrance but there is a shuttle bus between the entrance and the parking which is really a nice gesture. Will plan to visit again!!
Radhakrishna Chivukula — Google review
Great "entertainment park" for smaller children (ours are 4 and 6) They also managed to get a lot of attractions on a rather small space, what means not so much walking with small children.
We had short to no waiting lines.
There are also good indicators with what hight children can go alone, accompanied or not at all. However I have think those need to be remeasured by the park.
In the back is a big picknik area under the trees where you can have your own food. There are also enough places to get food, and not only the standard fries and chicken nuggets.
There are enough toilets and they were clean and big. I was able to get in comfortably with both children without feeling cramped.
With a wheelchair it could be, on some path, a bit more challenging.

I came here on autumn vacation. Alot of ppl here. It was fun for 3-5 years old I think. But for me it was not that fun. I love the showtime it was fun. The rest was just normal. Not that fun, not bad either. If you have kids around 3-5 years old, this place can be one of your list 😉

A small park with lots of attractions. We come during the Easter holidays it is just mega crowded, every single attraction you will queue for 20-30min with young kids, food stand seems understaffed too, even bathrooms are having long queues too. I can imagine a “regular day” would be much nicer to enjoy with kids here, but consider other options during school holidays.

Perfect day for kids younger than 6. Theres a wealth of rides and attractions for them to partake and the lines are not long. We were with a 4 year old and we tried most of the rides and he enjoyed all. Better suited for his age than Efteling. Note, parking costs 10 euro and is paid on location not via internet. Worth purchasing tickets on’ine in advance, the line is shorter that way.

My kids live this place and during this visit I was pleasantly surprised by a few new rides and some updates from the last time we were here.
My kids ages (2 to 7) had a great time and loved all the shows. The staff was super friendly and it was a great day.
We also ate lunch here and it was good for the price. It was snack at food but wasn’t over priced.

Great experience for our family, two daughters aged 3 and 6, we spent a lovely day, not a huge place which is an advantage as not endlessly walking, but many activities (we didn’t do all).
Prices for food and drink on the dear side + unexpected 10 Euros for parking at the end.
But overall, very recommended for families with young kids! Especially as the activities are suited for their heights…

Nice and clean park. Attractions were well serviced but some of the themed rides showed their age. Also some attractions should not let grown ups ride on them. The helicopters for example were very small and the operator seemed a bit aggitated of all the parents that went on the ride. Operators in overall were a bit unfriendly and seemed uninterested.
Kevin Desloovere — Google review
Mouse and (strangely) dino themed entertainment park aimed at children 2-10 years old. The park’s footprint is relatively small and feels crowded quite quickly, but you can (temporarily) escape this at the back of the park, where there is a picknick area with a giant bounce pad and solar beds. The park gives a significant early bird discount if you buy your tickets online two weeks in advance. Dogs are allowed outside of the rides and restaurants, luckily the park has many large terraces. You can easily spend the entire day here.

We don’t have children but we really like theme park personally. This park is not too big but not that small either. Apenheul, a Dutch animal park located in Apeldoorn, offers visitors the opportunity to observe over 200 primates freely roaming around. In addition to the main attraction of observing these creatures up close, Apenheul also features a treetop trail and a nocturnal monkey house. For those looking to make the most out of their visit, combining Apenheul with a trip to Palace Het Loo provides a full day's worth of activities.
Amazing place, not only for kids but for adults too! You are really close to the monkeys and you see them jumping around the park. Before entering, you are advised to put your belongings inside a closed bag (they are free and with different sizes). You can walk around the whole park without any problem and there are services inside (restaurants, toilet, etc.)

Amazing all day experience. Very big park, most monkeys walking freely. The gorilla show is a must! Only downside is the limited eating facilities, besides krokets and hot dogs there is only fries if you get hungry even though it is really an all-day activity

Apenheul is an insane place, we were two adults and had lots of fun! Lots of monkeys close to you! Some practicalities
- Lockers need a 1€ coin, make sure to have one with you (The coin is returned at the end)
- Parking has to be paid with card and the maximum is €9.30 a day
- Even if you go with a backpack they will make you put your stuff in the park’s official bags (no charge)
- We walked without a rush and the total time spent in the park (including Gorilla feeding presentation) was 3 hours
- All paths in the park are possible for wheelchairs / trolleys 👌🏻
- There are services 🚾 in different points of the park so you can drink lots of water without that being an issue
- We went with a bag with water, chips, sandwiches and since everything is so flat, carrying is not so bad 🧊
- We went from Amsterdam, going by public transportation was (roughly) 19€ per person each way so it was definitely worth to rent a car (in the end, payed like 75€ for mywheels)
It’s a beautiful experience, recommended for everyone!

Very nice park where some of the monkeys are roaming free.. not all ofcourse. Enough places to eat and drink within the park. Just make sure none of your pockets and bags are open because these monkeys will steal anything! Very cool for the younger kids!

There is a lot of walking, but the children have an incredible joy to see the monkeys so close. In the center of the zoo there is also a huge playground for children, where you can easily spend an extra hour. The best way to see many species of monkeys, which have been created in conditions close to natural. A place worth spending every euro.

If you arrive early (from 10 a.m to 2 p.m) the monkeys do absolutely nothing but sleep and chill. Food, drinks and souvenirs are very expensive. And a lot of the fun parts are closed for some reason.

Lovely Primate park with lots for kids to do. The place was really nicely laid out and thought it was great how seamless it was walking from area to area.

Beautiful zoo, with 35 species of monkeys, including gorillas, chimps, orang utans, bonobos, gibbons, but also sloths and cabibaras. Great park with surprising enclosures. Parking is a bit of a walk, but affordable (10 euro for a day) and the walk is through the park where the zoo is located in.

Lovely park in a beautiful forest setting. The drive there is lovely as well, don't take the highway, take the N-numbered-routes! In the park many areas where monkeys just walk among the people. Don't need to plan for a whole day, doable in about 4 hours (cheaper tickets from 2:00pm available).

Visited as an adult couple while on holiday. All the signs are in Dutch, German and English, and the staff were happy to help when our Google translating wasn't good enough to make an educated guess. Despite the drizzle, there were plenty of species pottering about under the trees, with no evidence that they had been forced outside (and plenty of other species that had sensibly taken themselves inside to gaze out the windows at the rain!). Got close to quite a few different species, in particular the squirrel monkeys, red howler monkeys and Barbary macaques, but all the animals we saw seemed well adjusted to captive life and not afraid of doing their own thing close to visitors. Gorilla show is only in Dutch, but this is noted on signs, and would have been fine if the silverback hasn't come out, taken a bite of chicory and then decided that the offering was not outweighing the rain and scarpered sedately off! Can't blame him! Humans had jackets and were sitting under a canopy in the dry, after all!

A great day out for all the family. Walk around the well marked route ( good access for wheelchair and people with walking disabilities), and mingle with the many free running monkeys (more than 30 different types to find). Make sure you find the time to visit the three shows ( all in Dutch, but the staff speak English and are willing to answer any questions). Unfortunately we found the food on offer at the restaurant! to be very expensive and not very nice ( when we visit again, we will take our own food with) large parking area, cost between €10 and €11. (bus stop on main road near to parking area)Approx 10 minutes walk from carpark to the entrance.

Looks well-maintained and exciting for kids. It takes about 10 minutes of walking from the parking lot to Apenheul's entrance. You walk through a beautiful park. Apenheul itself was busy, but less busy than I expected during summer holidays. There are lots of species and the animals seem to be doing OK from uneducated eyes, like mine. The prices for food there are spicy and there are not a lot of options. In hindsight I would have brought food from home. Take a light backpack because you need to wear it facing the front.

Fantastic experience, get up close with all species of monkeys and plenty of activities, refreshments and fun for all. I was visiting Dutch parents and we all enjoyed the visit, a place for all ages.
The Netherlands Open Air Museum features traditional Dutch buildings and transport exhibits with costume guides. Visitors can spend one night in Arnhem and choose between the Airborne Museum and the Open Air Museum.
Amazing place to visit, especially when the weather is good. A lot of old houses form Netherlands collected in one place, perfect to learn about Dutch history. Very kids friendly, with dedicated paly ground and tram line around the whole park. Located on the outskirts of Arnhem on the hills and surrounded by woods. Kind of a must-see in Netherlands.

This wonderful open air museum is a fascinating experience to be enjoyed. Be sure to start your trip with a ride on the tram so that you have an idea of what the museum has to offer. Each tram stop beings you to a different themed village. It is astonishing to see how the Netherlands have evolved over time and the way we live. There is so much detail given to the history of the buildings and the actors also help to enhance the overall experience. We unfortunately went on a very wet day so we did not see everything there was to offer. The facilities are great and clean. There are ramps for those in wheelchairs. There is a lovely gift shop at the entrance information centre.

Very nice museum, really interesting and diverse collection. Loved that there are actors who recreate what life used to look like. I found them to be very friendly and open for questions. Sadly a lot of the information was only available in Dutch, so something to keep in mind. But even so, very interesting.

There is a lot to see here, with many facilities and is an excellent place for families. The tram route is also handy if you need it. Well worth a visit.
I have removed a star, as paying €8 for parking on top of €22 tickets per adult is daylight robbery

The food and drinks are on the expensive side of the spectrum, but the view is amazing the staff is very friendly and I highly recommend this place during summer times when all the plants are blooming.
Other than that it is a very informative place to have a little peek into history.

A nice way to get in touch with Dutch culture and look into the past. The museum is huge and you can spend the whole day there and still not have enough time see everything. It's a wonderful place for people of all ages and it is also pet friendly.
Karen Greyling — Google review
It didn't expect it to be so large and so rich of contents. From what I've seen from google, it seems like a fun destination. A destination where a family can enjoy together. Yes it is. But, it's much more than that. It basically tells you how Dutch people lived in the past, both the beauty and the ugliness. The sites are rather simple, but they tell the story well.
Me and my wife always walk slowly in a museum to understand what is the story and what are the interesting facts. We always walk with google in our hand to understand the context. For this particular museum, it's exhausting and time consuming to do so since it's so large. So, go twice or thrice!

Awesome place to learn more about the Netherland, the history, culture and tradition, or just to stroll around enjoying the beautiful scenery. There are varieties of building, from windmills to houses that replicate certain era along with detailed explanation and activities inside. Me and family really love the experience of visiting this place multiple times.

The museum is special and very fun to get around. Nice to walk around and get back in the tram. Except a playground in the middle there weren’t many activities for young ones. The guides and demonstrations are all in dutch so wouldn’t recommend for young kids from out of country.

A brief and detailed glimpse to the history of the Dutch people. This place has all the real 1:1 replicas of the houses, people lived in. Farmhouses, cheese factory, blacksmith and more. There are also live demos of actors which help to demonstrate the lifestyle that was back then.
The place also has a small train which circles the whole park, and stops on each interest point, the children loved it. We spent here half a day, some people spend here almost the entire day, depends on the ages of the children. There is also a children’s place where the can run and climb, in front of it you can find a small restaurant which offers soups, beer, wine and more

An absolute marvel! Great visitors centre, café staff and gift shop and that's before you become completely involved in the surroundings, trams buildings and history that exudes from every angle and exhibit. We could easily taken a second day and still enjoyed every minute, the literature doesn't do this wonderful place any justice, definitely one not to miss if you're going to Holland 🤗😜😍❤️🇳🇱

It's a must see. Very interesting place. Very well maintained. It took us around 3 hours to go around the park. You have the option to walk or else get the tram inside the museum. Coffee, ice cream and other food can be bought. Also noticed that it is dog friendly.

If you want to see a different part of Dutch history this is a must see. Although it is a large property you can utilise the free hop on hop off tram to get to the various areas
It stops at a number of platforms and there's no more than a 5 minute wait between trams. There are also plenty of facilities - toilets, restaurants - available as well. Great day out for all ages.

It's huge. One day is not enough to experience it all.
Tip: Make use of the train after experiencing each section to save on energy. Pick a few interesting parts within each section if you want to see it all in one day
Tip 2: There are a lot of family oriented activities such as back to past dress-up photography. I enjoyed that.
Tip 3: It's not busy at entry but I always find it handy to buy tickets online.
Tip 4: Wear comfortable footwear. You will walk a lot. Adds to the fun though.
The Burgers' Zoo is a large zoo in the Netherlands that specializes in animals from all over the world, including many rare breeds. The zoo has a realistic reconstruction of their natural habitats, making it a popular tourist destination.
Very, very nice zoo! Really recommend to go.
See also all the photos I made. This will give a good impression in how close you will be able to get to the animals.

Obviously a bit more busy in child holidays, so would be better outside those....

I generally don’t go to zoos, but this place was just amazing. Loved the way they have created and maintained different habitats. Restaurants inside the rainforest offer best dining experience with life all around. Needs entire day to properly explore the place.

I'm not a big fan of zoos, I was here with my team from work and I had little investment in the process of deciding a destination.
Although this looks much better maintained than a lot zoos I remember, I can't imagine this being in favor of the animals.
The different themed areas are nicely designed and there's a lot spaces to keep children busy, which is great because you rarely hear kids screaming.
Of course the shops and restaurants are expensive and sell the usual shirts, key chains, plates, you name it.
In contrast to Germany, you can pay everything anywhere with card or mobile. Love that.

Incredible zoo, the different zones were set up so well and made you feel part of the eco system. Lots for the kids to do also with both Indoor and outdoors play areas, we really liked seeing the manatees and the Elephants as well as the desert critters, there is also animals roaming around freely which was nice.

One of the best zoological parks in Europe.
Founded in 1913 by Johan Burgers. A 15 min (very nice scenery!) bus ride from the center of Arnhem.
It's a huge park with a great variety of animals and with the goal to preserve and rescue endangered species.
The staff is friendly, helpful and have great knowledge about their animals.

Very nice zoo! We enjoyed the zoo for its nice and spacious enclosures. The zoo has a good balance between good acces to the animals and rest for the animals. Very nice pathways and nice foliage all around. There is a very wide selection of animals. The mangrove enclosure is a work of art. The manatees are amazing. The chimpansee and gorilla enclosures are also impressive. Enough restaurants. The food/souvenirs were expensive. The ticket price is fitting for such a nice zoo. The pathways are also very accessible for strollers. Very accessible for toddlers all around. This Zoo has perfected being a Zoo.

Very big zoo, with a large range of animals. There's also three playgrounds, one of which is indoors.
The animals seem well cared for and their cages are not too small.
The layout is a bit confusing and a few more sanitary stations could be added. There's a musical now, and the logo on the plan obscures a few paths. I would recommend using the plan from their website, as it doesn't feature the stupid ad and you can actually see _all_ the paths.
Admission price is very steep. On top of that, €8 for parking seems very excessive. But hey, judging by the amount of people there on a rainy day, they can get away with it.

This zoo is a personal favorite due to its diverse animals and realistic ecosystems. From deserts to tropical bushes, the experience is immersive. Animals are well cared for, and the zoo offers ample facilities. Visit early till closing for a comfortable, day-long exploration. Online tickets are recommended to avoid short weekend lines as well as to avail some nice online discounts. Should you plan to visit regularly, an annual pass is a must.

It's a beautiful zoo especially like this Sunday when it was raining most part of the day. De jungle(Bush) is great fun to do with you children. The aquariums are gorgeous. Furthermore there is a huge variety in places where to eat with each having there own theme. The prices are high that is true but we'll spend.

Incredibly gorgeous place, they don't just have amazing animals but the park itself is also amazing to walk through without even looking to the animals. But the animals are amazing too, such a variety! Make sure to be early because we got lucky to see nearly all animals because they were feeding them.

A lovely zoo for all ages. The zoo is divided into several different zones which are very nicely dressed accordingly. What I personally likes a lot was the safari restaurant which was spacious and had a lovely view over the safari enclosure. Here, you could grab a snack or drink while watching safari animals like giraffe's and zebras. The prices for the food here are quite on the high-end in my opinion though. Another touch I liked where the small "offroad" trails in the bush area which gave me a real exploring feeling.

We really enjoyed our visit at Burgers' Zoo. The park has a lot of area's (Ocean, Bush, Mangrove, Desert etc) where you can wander around. You can clearly see a lot of love went into creating and maintaining these areas. Food at the restaurants is a bit on the expensive side so you might want to consider bringing your own.

Still, I think, the best Zoo in The Netherlands. Explored it and was again amazed by the Ocean, Safari, Dessert etc. Enough parking, no waiting at entrance (our luck) at plenty of restaurants to have a rest. Burgers' Zoo, after 30 years since my last visit, still on no. 1

This is one of the best zoos in the Netherlands. I have visited this zoo several times, and it is always an adventure. You can easily spend a day here.
The zoo covers diverse habitats such as deserts, savannas, and oceans. You'll find lions, elephants, zebras, giraffes, tigers, and countless bird species, representing a wide range of big and small animals. In a thoughtful manner, the zoo educates the public about how human actions are disrupting the habitats of these animals, plants, and our planet in general. I particularly enjoy the ocean section, where you can observe and learn about various sea animals and plants. It is also highly educational for kids. The animals are well treated, though it's important to note that, being a zoo, they are kept without their will.
There are numerous playgrounds for kids. While the zoo offers several restaurants, they tend to be overpriced and not the best in terms of quality. Be sure to prepare yourself well for a long and adventurous day.

The zoo is amazing! It is the best place to spend the day with kids! There are playgrounds, an aquarium, many wonderful pavilions with a variety of plants and animals. Many of the animals can be seen up close, and they are in a large area, not at all like cages, which does not make me sad. The menu of the restaurants is a disappointment, I think it could be much more varied and healthy. Otherwise everything is marvellous!

Best zoo I've ever been to. Most animals have enough space, live in similar habitats as they do in the wild. The biomes flow into eachother.
Kaas Kop — Google review
They have an amazing inside area, so even on rainy days its a great visit. If you buy the yearly subscription, you can go in without any effort however many times you want, great for regular walks too! With family, alone, doesn't matter, this zoo is for everyone. Just be polite to the animals and respect the staff members. They do amazing work for this zoo. If there is any place I would like to see improved its the dessert area, the dessert area is the most unpopular area, mainly because there aren't as many animals to see like the Bush, Ocean or Mangrove. They are around you in the dessert but not really, I'd love to see more unique dessert animals that work well with visitors walking through. For example reptiles, but of course this wouldn't work well if you have a Lynx and Warthogs there. So I get their choices, but I think the dessert area could definitely use a revamp. Other than that the rest of the zoo is amazing. There is also a bird area in the back which could use some more love. My 2nd favorite zoo in the netherlands!

Impressive! Very comprehensive, focusing on the tragic Market Garden operation of the Allied forces nearing the end of WWII. The audio tour that is part of admission was very well done and extensive, the displays showcased a wide range of British, German, Polish, and Dutch artifacts and personal stories. The amount of first person account shared via video recording was impressive. Besides learning all about the historic operation, they gave good oversight on the local history, the experience of Dutch, the special exhibits on Jewish persecution, and even German perspective was so eye-opening. Our pre-teen children were engaged the entire time. And the basement walk-thru experience was astounding!

One of the best museums I've been too. The lady at the counter was really informative and showed a lot of passion for the museum. The coffee at the little café is high quality for a normal price. The storytelling of the audiotour is also really compelling and well done. All the objects and audiovisual media is displayed in a very good manner.
Finally the airborne experience is a truly unique and interesting way to get a small impression of what it could've been like.
My only point of feedback is that the silent remembrance room is not closed off for noise from the surrounding rooms. This kind of defeats the purpose. It would be much more powerful if you'd enter a completely silent room.

A compact but informative museum situated at the former headquarters of the Allied forces during the push to Arnhem. My 8 and 10 year olds especially appreciated the audio tour machines that came with museum entry.
In particular, we found the exhibition on the Jewish experience and the basement Airborne Experience to be very educational.
We would recommend others to visit this museum and the surrounding sites to learn more about what happened almost 80 years ago.

Visited this afternoon after dropping by the John Frost Bridge and Airborne Museum at the Bridge. Well worth the visit, spent a couple hours here but you could definitely spend longer. We didn’t book tickets in advance (4 adults + 1 child) but there was no wait & we were able to experience the museum and temporary exhibition at our own pace with no issues. One of the group was a wheelchair user who had no issues accessing the different spaces. The Airborne Experience is a great feature to end the visit with (although some people may wish to start with this experience to then reflect on the readings and accounts as you pass through the museum). I highly recommend. We parked behind the restaurant as recommended on the museum website. Lots of people seemed to be enjoying the grounds for a walk or even taking a moment to sit on the benches outside by the deer.

Very enjoyable museum about the history and importance of Oosterbeek (where the museum is located) and Arnhem during the world war periods. Learned quite some new things about what was done in the city of Oosterbeek and Arnhem during the war and also what the importance of the museum building was during those times. Definitely recommend checking this museum out and especially the video exhibition, it’s a short one but gives a very detailed overview of what happened and what went wrong. Also the interactive experience with the plane is also interesting. Overall great place to spend a good 2 to 3 hours and afterwards you can have a nice, peaceful and quiet walk in the garden/park around it.

Nice museum with lots of information on what happened in the area during WW2.
The way the stories are told felt really up close and personal.
The simulation in the basement was a nice touch, but not quite as immersive as the one in Overloon.
Definitely worth a visit, but as it's unlikely you'll spend more than a few hours here, it's highly recommended to combine it with a visit to some of the WW2 monuments in the area.

Beautiful castle, we had a good time there. The exhibits are fun and interesting, the staff (or are they volunteers?) very helpful, and the building has been nicely restored. You can also have a drink there. We didn't do that so I can't comment on that. We also went to the highest point accessible to the public, which made it even more adventurous.

The Zuiderzeemuseum is a museum showcasing the sea-based economy, ships and ways of life in the area. It consists of two sections, an indoor Binnenmuseum dedicated to farming, fishing and shipping, and an outdoor Buitenmuseum with over 130 rebuilt dwellings and workshops. Visitors are encouraged to park at a designated car park off the N302 and take a ferry (included in admission) every 15 minutes from April to October to get to the museum.
Enjoyed a great day here! Caught the ferry first and then dropped us off at the outdoor museum. Everything is well sign posted in English, Dutch and German. Lots of fun things to do and the cafe was great. Great way to learn about the history of the region.

Is a very nice place, just like jump into 100 years ago fish village. The indoor museum is full of knowledge about this area and the outdoor museum just amazing. I spent 4 hours there and didn’t finish it just too big. But the traditional lunch set they sell on the website is 2 sandwiches and 1 bread with 1 banana and 1 apple juice, quantity and quaility is nice but I recommend just buy food when you arrive the restaurant

I can't say enough about this place,as it is one of the best museums in Holland. The history of the fisherman of the north and how they built the Great dike. A must see for all visitors to the Netherlands.

We went there by shuttle boat. This round includes a short harbor tour in Enkhuizen. The museum is beautifully designed, there is a lot to see and you can immerse yourself in village life at the end of the 19th century.

Wonderful museum with lots of really enthusiastic volunteers. They are keen to offer information and demonstrations of various styles, jobs and hobbies of the people living in the town during the period. The town is beautifully reconstructed and preserves the history of the country extremely well for us to enjoy. A boat ride to the entrance is also included if you wish. Information is available in Dutch, English and German.

A fantastic huge museum. The indoor part has an audio guide and is very well made. Tells you stuff about fishing villages and how the sea became a lake, a lot of stuff for kids too. The outdoor part is a huge village, might need two days to actually cover it!

Very nice museum, this one is a full day experience, we arrived 11 and left by closing at 17 and we did not have time for the indoor museum , feelt expensive at 18 e online price but was so very well spent ,
pro tip , to save 7euro on parking google for "p+r einhuizen" it is along the station (ignore all roadsigns for museum ) , here you park free for 24 hours , ample with free spaces when we visited , just head down to station building and you see signs for the ferry across the road , the tourist office has ticket ( you need to buy before the boat ) if you did not get them online , ferry was every 20" and is the same as from the pay parking. 5 min walk from car to ferry
Martin Hahn — Google review
Started in the indoor museum where there is a lot to see. The main part of the museum on the upper floor takes you round in a circle. Go to the right to start!
A better part of the museum, presuming good weather, is the outside part further along the road. Lots of dwellings/buildings, like a small town, with descriptions. There are a couple of cafés to stop for coffee/lunch.
You can either walk to the museum or take the ferry back to Enkhuisen, near the railway station.
Tickets in advance (online) are €18/person.

There are inside and outside parts combined into one museum called Zuiderzeemuseum. I found it nice and informative. They both explain more the history of the area including how the lives were like in the past. The ticket price is for both and if you have a museumkaart, it is valid for the museum.

Schöner Park mit vielen interessanten Häusern in verschiedenen Baugruppen arrangiert. Das Ambiente hat uns richtig gut gefallen und für unsere Kinder gab es ein breites Angebot an Mitmachstationen. Came there assuming that we went into a museum inside but we're happily surprised that we went on a ferry to an outside little town. It was like going back in time, like the 1900ths.
We were there on the hottest day of the year, 36 degrees Celsius and almost everybody went to the beach 🏖️. So it was nice and quit. I won't tell you too much cause that will spoil your experience 😎 nice people and excellent presentations. We had an perfect day👍🏻😊

Great experience, well arranged, entertaining and informative!
Experience going back in time and seeing how the Dutch life looked like. Have a peek inside the houses, look at the different workshops and "meet" the people.
Parking is available (7eur p/day), you can take a free ferry to the museum. Roam around the town, expect to spend approx 3 hours if you take the time to read and engage.
Pros
- Everything is well arranged
- plenty of parking
- multiple languages for int guests
- easy to explore
Notes
- best experienced on a good day
- dress for wind
- walk from museum to NS is more likely to be 20min (instead of the 10min indicated), but well worth it.
- Enkhuizen city is nice to explore

I love reconstructed villages - they offer inside people lived years ago that you can't gain through reading or museum exhibits. This museum was on par with the swedish Skansa in the care taking together houses from the area and bringing them together and putting them in a realistic environment. The people who play roles in the museum are dedicated and fantastic at what they do. This was a great experience particularly when combined with the train/ship from Hoorn.

Nice representation of what living would be like in the time. A wide range of activities to do while your there ( making rope, a little carnival and other stuff) several farm animals but also a small verity of birds some bigger some smaller. The ferry ride shows you I nice view of the area and an explanation of the stuff around. Several nice shops like cheese food souvenir shops and a restaurant which has good food

An excellent place to visit. The remains of a village in 1600 has been reconstructed with similar other materials brought from various places. Now it is a traditional village nobody lives except commercial establishments. A place must see how they controlled the flood from the see which is below the sea level.

Definitely one of my favorite spots in The Netherlands. As someone who loves family history (and is of Dutch descent), this museum was super informative for all of my questions regarding life in the past, especially for the Dutch because that's where many of my ancestors are from. Nevertheless, the exhibits were fun to explore and the experience of riding the boat there was a fun one! The gift shop was nice and getting to walk around the picturesque city of Enkhuizen afterwards was a treat itself.

A really nice museum in the north of the Netherlands. Try to choose a sunny day. Keep in mind that the museum has 2 sections; an outside and an inside part. Make sure you visit the outside because it is beautiful. You will find boats, fishing nets, artifacts for sailing, windmills and two chimneys. There is even a blacksmith shop which is very nostalgic. Also, there is an old school. Yeah, literally an old school where you will find blackboards, benches, and many other cools stuff that would take you back to 50-60 years ago. The whole city of Enkhuizen is gorgeous with its harbors. After your museum visit, you can lounge at terraces and enjoy your time. Definitely recommend.
Sprookjeswonderland is an amusement park designed for young children, featuring enchanting fairytale-themed rides and attractions. The park brings famous fairy tales to life, allowing visitors to explore scenes such as Sleeping Beauty's bed chamber and a charming gnome village. In addition to the magical settings, there are also activities like a mini train, petting zoo, carousels, beautifully landscaped gardens, and a playground.
Perfect day out for kids ages 3-6 (+-). For older kids it can still be plenty of fun, but then you probably want a little more excitement in terms of rides etc. Size wise perfect as well in my opinion, easily do all in half a day with the kids being tired by then. Price wise, everything is fair to affordable. We never had to wait much longer than 5 min in line for any attraction. Again, 5 star outing.

A great amusement park. You can see almost all the fairy tales and their heroes live. There are also many activities such as trains, boats, and horseback riding. There is free parking. If you buy online, tickets are 1.5 Euros cheaper. Also, you don't have to wait in line. The entrance fee is also very affordable compared to other parks. You should set aside at least four hours to tour the entire park. Open until 5 PM on regular days and 6 PM on holidays.
Built by Napoleon's army in 1804, this stepped, grass-covered pyramid is topped by a stone obelisk.
A hike through the Utrechtse Heuvelrug national park. Good day trip, very easy walk on the plains of the Netherlands. In the centre of the park lies the pyramid. Unfortunately, it was not possible to climb the pyramid on the day if our visit. Please also check the weather while planning your trip.
Amin Shakya — Google review
Buying a ticket gets you an extensive 360° view from the top of the pyramid, especially on clear days. I would probably skip buying a ticket if the weather is cloudy. The nature surrounding the monument is also well kept, relaxing, and open for anyone to enjoy without tickets. Ideal for a picnic.
Louis La Grange — Google review

Beautiful monument in the middle of the forest. Easy to reach by car, there's a lot of parking space in the vicinity. Before I went I thought it would be a bit bigger, so small disappointment there. Besides that a real eye catcher. Close by the parking lot is also a lot of attractions for children and a restaurant. The forest makes for beautiful walks. Definitely a worthy activity for half a day.

Well. Is not one of the 7 wonders of the world but almost nobody expects to find a pyramid in Utrecht. It is a monument created by the Napoleon troops and they have it neat and clean now to visit it. With a park for kids at the entrance of the area. Big open parking, a café to drink something and a beautiful forest around to have a nice walk. And 20 minutes by car from the city. Sure it deserves a visit if you have time
David Miralles — Google review
I would give 5 stars for the green pyramid, just for the fact it is a surprising sight in the forest and the history dating back to the Napoleon time. On bright days you have a very nice view from the top and there are many information signs to brush up your history knowledge.
Of course you are expecting a catch. And there is one. The admission fee is 3.50 euro per adult and 1.50 euro for kids up to 12 years old. In my opinion it would be better if they change this to a voluntary donation and/or make it more clear how this money will contribute to nature management and conservation. In the current setup it feels like a high price which might put off a lot of people from climbing the stairs to the top of the pyramid.
Also, the nearby parking is free, but the parking guard made it pretty clear he expects a tip. Perhaps it's a long standing tradition here, but it adds to an overall feeling of unfriendliness.

The place is perfect for ages 0-10. Not over croded, just the kind of rides you need. Even the road there was very nice, a countryside drice.
However, they were short-staffed, which means more than a few rides didn't work.

Friendly, safe and affordable amusement park for kids up to about 12yrs of age. Well maintained and pretty, in quite a pleasant nature reserve cum leafy residential area. There's a beach where you can swim or lounge a bit. The usual Dutch savory and sweet snacks are on sale at multiple vending points. Easy parking. Lines are usually absent or (on sunny weekend days) maybe 5-10 minutes so no problem.
Not a place to come to when it's really rainy. And if you're close to 2m tall (or more), watch out in the bumper cars and while walking around.

Good theme park for ages 4+. Note that you must pay full price for 2 year olds, however most of the rides are for children above 95cm or 105cm. Our little boy was way too small, so full price for him seemed a little expensive. Also tried to book online in advance but it seems you need to have a Dutch bank account to do so (no PayPal option etc).

Great on sunny days. Most attractions are outdoors. If it's hot, there is even a small beach for swimming. And, important to know, one of the few places you can bring your own food and drinks- even though many reasonably priced catering options on site. Great fun for young kids, maybe until ages 10 or 11. The amusement park is quite compact which is great for families and kids because whole thing can be covered in one visit if you start as early as it's open.
The facilities like toilets and cafe are a bit old and in need of renovation, but kids don't care about this, it's just the adults.
Highly recommended if you're within an hour drive. It's also reasonable priced.

Amazing place for kids of all ages!
Nice and friendly atmosphere. Unfortunately a bit difficult to get there using public transport. The way there is beautiful but a bit unsafe because in some areas there are no pathways, so is risky with a kid. Other than that once you get there is great! Have the greatest time possible with your little ones.
If you manage to get there in a on overcrowded day and with good weather... You'll have the greatest time for your money.
Kids 4-10 will have a fantastic time here... And their parents too!
The food is just ok, normal for a place like this.ñ and at a good price. My only complaint is the highest at the Barbecue Bar: Non existent. The waiters poking the meat with their dirty hands which they use for just anything else (like picking up money from customers) and they don't even seem to have a place to wash the hands.
Anyway... Great place.
