The Centro Dragão do Mar de Arte e Cultura is a large and modern complex with an art museum, theater space, library, and cinemas. It is dedicated to art and culture, and includes a planetarium. The center gets lively at night with artists performing.
Beautiful, tranquil, central, and historic.

Great for couples and families with children.
About a 10 minute walk from the Metropolitan Cathedral of Fortaleza and close to numerous other sites and areas.

In overall, a neglected nice place. It has a beautiful archicteture, diverse option of attractions. However, it has been forgotten by local authorities. Full of garbage, dirty, and bad illumination. Unless, the aaCity of Fortaleza fix these problems. Avoid it.

Here....July 4, 2023....visiting with guests. Museum of Ceara Culture just randomly closed on a Tuesday. Typical in Brazil. Never know if attractions will be closed down for some 'made up' reason.i think more often than not there is an issue with any museums we visit.

The exhibitions were cool! But it was hard to get around there because there weren't any signs. There's a nice looking cafe, but it opens at 3pm. It was very empty during day time but that was nice.

There are a lot of drug addicts in this square, which is too dangerous and has no police officers around at all. I don't recommend going to this place, even if you're not alone.

The best place to find alternative movies and short movies as well. Today, I've watched some short movies that were censored by the current government. It amazes me we can have the opportunity to see these masterpieces that in fact are art and not really what is supposed to be censored. Thanks, Dragao do Mar!

(Translated by Google) Urbanized-style beach, like all beaches in large cities, is quite urbanized, that is: it makes a direct contrast with urban life and the leisure and natural beauty of the sea and beach, but this is not a negative thing, on the contrary, due to The renovations that took place on the boardwalk made the beach very beautiful and organized. There are several food stall options, from restaurants to snacks, and the prices vary. There are always BPTUR police vehicles patrolling the surrounding area and also bicycle policing. The promenade is quite spacious, you can cycle, skate, walk and run to your heart's content. At night it's difficult to park because it's full of visitors. The beach borders Iracema beach and Mucuripe beach.

Praia do Futuro is a long, wild beach located about 10km / 6mi from the city centre. It's a great spot for swimming and sunbathing, as well as sampling some of the delicious seafood dishes that abound in the area. There are several beach bars and restaurants near by, making it an ideal place to spend a day in Fortalezas.

Nice beach, but you need to pay attention on possible, though not probable, thefts. Don't be fooled by the constant winds (especially between August and October) or even partly cloudy days: the sun is treacherous and really burns here. Take tons of sunscreen with you.
Michael Rachid — Google review
Nice beach but be careful of the big waves as you could get dragged out to sea so aslong as your careful you will be ok just make sure you don’t go to far out from the shore !
Thomas Lonngren — Google review
Very good beach. Maybe the best one in Fortaleza. However, you have to be careful for the criminals. There are a lot of pickpockets, stickups and armed robbery. It is safe if you come only for a bath and enjoy the sun without anything in your hands or inside your pockets. Bring only your hotel key and nothing else.
Rafa Hughes — Google review
Be very very careful as a tourist you stand out and there are group of boys from the dilapidated neighbourhood looking to mug tourists or anyone showing possessing phone or expensive glasses/shoes. They have knives and attack even in front of other people on the beach as no one risk intervening fearing reprisal. Avoid this beach or take your own risk!
Johnny Galt — Google review
Praia do Futuro itself is presumably safe, but the marker at this location is misleading - it's the very north end of the beach. A block north begins the Serviluz favela. It's super unsafe at this point and even more so farther north.

Fortaleza, Ceará, Brazil
I'll never travel to Praia da Pipa without this trip planner again
If you're looking for a family-friendly vacation with plenty of water attractions, Beach Park should be your top choice. With four hotels and an expansive waterslide park, this resort has something for everyone. Insano, the world's tallest water slide, is definitely a highlight for thrill seekers; while those looking to relax can enjoy the lazy rivers and sauna.
Going to the Beach Park in Fortaleza is an experience that I would recommend across the board. They are one of the largest water parks in the world with attractions that span the range from low to extreme intensity. I’ve had the opportunity to go there a few times as a child and went again now as an adult and it was just as fun as I remembered.
Good:
1 - Excellent service. Employees are polite and knowledgeable.
2 - Lot’s of food options.
3 - Queues are not too long.
4 - Several options of attractions.
5 - Great layout with distribution of food/beverage kiosks, high/low intensity rides and pools distributed throughout.
6 - Easy access from hotel complexes.
To Improve:
1 - The power went out when I was there. It took around 10 minutes for the attraction I was at to normalize. This is lack of proper engineering or configuration of the backup systems. A diesel generator should kick-in and stabilize within 1 minute of a power outage. Moreover, given that power to the attractions is essential to the proper operation of the park, they should have a UPS battery backup to sustain the park for a duration long enough for generators to kick in.
2 - The meat/bacon burger at the Beach Burger kiosk was bad. Dry and hard. Almost inedible. The chicken option was much better.
3 - A few attractions were closed. I understand this can happen. However, this needs to be informed extremely well to park goers. Ideally in a language that humanizes the situation. “Sorry, our pump is sick today but the attraction will be up in x days”.
4 - The lazy river was weaker than I expected. There were less pumps on?
5 - The Hupa/Hopa was not doing the water discharge to speed up the attraction as it used to.
6 - No way to keep track of time when around park since there are no clocks. Add some?
Even though I am giving the park a 5-star review, I hope that the feedback can be put to use. If Beach Park plans on becoming “the Disney of Brazil” nothing short of perfect is enough.

Nice water park that's FUN for everyone. Not all the rides were open but still an enjoyable time. About $45 Admission with about $5 for a locker. You can find parking nearby in an open lot on the left side as you approach the entrance for about $2. There's also "Beach Park" parking available but not sure of the price. Inside the park you can purchase a "Food Package" option or choose to eat at the facilities inside or outside of the park area.

Fantastic park i will recommend to anyone with kids, this place has everything great variety of food, playgrounds, life entertainment a fantastic beach with the plus of the water park , i will give 6 stars if i could .

The beach park offers a vast expanse with a wide array of activities suitable for a diverse age range spanning from three-year-olds to those in their sixties. Our visit to the park took place on a weekend, and despite the large crowd, waiting times for most activities were surprisingly short. Safety was a top priority, evident in the presence of numerous vigilant lifeguards stationed throughout the park. They were extremely dedicated to their roles. Personally, my most exhilarating experience was the "Insano," which provided a thrilling adrenaline rush.

I went in January 6 and it was crowded!! It was fun but I had to wait 30 minutes~ 1 hour in line for each one... if you wanna go there avoid January, July and December because it's Brazil's highschool vacation months!

Short wait times on rides without floats, on the ones with floats you might waste more than 30mins. Huge lines in the food bars. 1 hour wait times.

Worst money ever spent. The park is not organised, where you have to queue for EVERYTHING. Ticket and towel purchase are in two different places, there isn’t enough staff for a day that wasn’t even busy, where you’re waiting for a long time to get an overpriced meal. The park doesn’t offer fast track for any attraction and there’s no guidance or maps you can use during the day. Waste of money and time.
Rafael — Google review
Super fun huge huge huge place, too much for one day. 26th december, crowded but everything went fast. After fast entering, there was a second line for buying credit and locker but went smooth. Food was all on credit that you have to buy in advance and locker is optional. Soo, no walking with money (locker).
Lots of security and everywhere strict lifeguards. Only minus is there isn't allot of seatings, everywhere full. Some people were very friendly to share or leave your belongings with them. But still keep an eye on your stuffs. Just walking with your towel was enough, the rest you leave at your locker.
Also, floor very hot, so don't forget your slippers or watershoes. The rids were very busy, wait in lines but went well after your wait.
ALL, very nice very hugh very attractive especially wild ride and tons of fun for the kids.... learn the portugese!!!

I insist anybody visiting Brazil go to this beach park it is amazing. We stayed at these condos right next to the beach park. They were beautiful. It had a nice quiet, swimming pool. The beach Park and condos are a perfect place for family to visit.

Natural Monument of Beberibe Cliffs

Park
The Natural Monument of Beberibe Cliffs is a breathtaking stretch of protected cliffs and dunes that offer stunning views of the beach. This geological paradise is a must-visit for enthusiasts, although it's advisable to research the rock formation beforehand as local guides may lack knowledge in this area. Arriving early in the morning is recommended to avoid crowds from tours later in the day. The site boasts a wonderful story and visitors can enjoy the humorous and lively commentary of tour guide Wesley.
Absolutely stunning.
If you are interested in geology, this is paradise but I suggest you read about the rocks formation before you visit because local guides often don't know much about the geological formation of the area.
Also, try to get there early in the morning as it is full of tours from 11 onwards.

If you want a day of admiring natural beauty, take a tour to this place! The natural occuring cliffs offer beautiful pictures, hiking, and exploration. The tour, consisting of a Portuguese speaking guide, takes about 40 minutes and involves walking through a small market area in which they really try to sell you on projects created by the sand. The guide will pose you in many, many, places and take photos at different angles looking for a bigger tip at the end of the tour. If possible, take the dune buggy tour, as it allows you to see even more of the landscape!

It's best to take a buggy ride for up to 3 hours in the morning, and if it's low tide you can go along the beaches.
There is no place close to the beach with infrastructure that offers shops, restaurants, swimming pools...

Just one observation: Take this tour at 8..9 am, as when the tide is high the tour is not good. We get hurt because of the corals, we swallow a lot of water and the guides encourage us to do it late, but it's not comfortable or safe for us. I have both black arms and back, because I was injured, and my toe was cut.

Genipabu Beach, located in Brazil, is a picturesque sandy beach with a freshwater lagoon that offers visitors the option to ride buggies on its dunes. It is an ideal location for surfing and provides stunning views of its surroundings. Although litter can be found on the sand due to inadequate trash bins, the warm water and beautiful water color make it unforgettable. This stunning beach stands out as one of Brazil's most breathtaking beaches with clean waters and natural beauty at its best.
Amazing beach.
Clear waters.
Calm water.
Hard to park in here.
Be prepared to deal with an infinity of street salesman, and people chasing you to find parking and bring you to their beach club.
It is difficult to avoid them. Sometimes you will need to be stern for them to leave you alone.

Fantastic incredibly beautiful seaside village about half an hour north by road from Natal's bridges across Rio Potengi from Natal, Rn.
Beautiful safe to bathe beach lined with lots of beachside restaurants good for fish or meat dishes.
Dunes above beach are awesome and maybe climbed by athletic & sure footed or tours led by buggy drivers available from US $60 through dunes from Genipabu village or from around US $ 100 from Natal.
Tours may continue on to Pitangui & Cape Riangha eastern most point of Rio Grande do Norte state.
In rainy season April to early August ;Genipabu near & after sunset is especially famous for it's mosquitos which seem to be a particular curse for fair skinned visitors.
Hotel Genipabu high in hills with its own swimming pool tends to avoid the problems with mosquitos.
Visitors should also try by car or buggy try the raft ferry at nearby Gracendu & see the seaside mansions of Natal's political elite.
At weekends & in January & February village maybe at times crowded but midweek visits are usually quieter & much more rewarding.

Scenic nature preserve with wind-blown sands & a lagoon offering dune buggy & camel rides.
Beautiful place with natural sand dunes and several entertainment options. You can choose to go on a buggy ride, do sandboarding, sand toboganning, camel rides (🐫🐫🐫) or enjoying the beach with local gastronomy. All places accept credit card but they charge an extra fee. If you choose to come on the afternoon, its definitely worth to stay for the sunset! Be warned that this location is quite windy and you are likely to get sand everywhere! Would definitely visit again!

Located in Natal, Rio Grande do Norte, Fortaleza dos Reis Magos is a 16th-century military fortification shaped like a star and perched on a cliff overlooking the sea. This historical landmark played a crucial role in defending the city and offers stunning panoramic views of the surrounding area. The fort's limestone embankment, cannons, and chapel add to its historical significance. It has been instrumental in repelling invaders and stands as an important symbol of Natal's history.

Go to the end of the beach where the sales man don't have easy access. There you will find a calmer, cleaner and peaceful space to relax.
In general the beach is very noisy and full of people saling you things. No jokes, all the time!
But it still possible to find areas to relax and enjoy. The water is clean (considering that you are in front of a big city) and the safety feeling is good enough.
I recommend it as an afternoon walk for couples or solo travelers.

Morro do Careca (“bald hill” in Portuguese) is the main symbol of the city of Natal and the state of Rio Grande do Norte. It measures 120 meters (390 ft.).
In the past, Morro do Careca was a spot for recreation and entertainment. The bathers and tourists would climb up the hill and come down with the help of a device called skibunda (“bunda” is Portuguese for “butt”—you’d sit on a board and ski down the slope). Since the end of the 1990s, it has been closed to visitors. The reason for the closure was to protect the dunes; the preservation of the vegetation will aid in safeguarding against erosion, ensuring that the sand does not slip and thus reduce the height of the hill. At present, all activity on the dune remains suspended.
The scene also brings together a sea full of bathers, surfers, windsurfers and kitesurfers, in addition to the stand-up paddle crowd. It is frequented by locals and tourists, who fill the tents on the boardwalk and the shore. The best spot for bathing is in the right corner, between the end of the boardwalk and Morro do Careca. There, the sea is calmer and also has the long-time restaurant, the Old Five Beach Bar.

Praia de Ponta Negra s/n, Ponta Negra, RN, 59090-210, Brazil
Ponta Negra beach is a well-known coastal landmark that boasts a famous dune, huts, and an array of food and drink options. This lengthy beach offers smooth access to the water with its sandy bottom and enjoyable waves. The area is surrounded by numerous hotels, making it easy for visitors to find suitable accommodation. Ponta Negra beach is relatively clean; however, cleanliness varies depending on the location as some areas are less frequented by people.
Unbelievable place. Hot water, friendly people, good music, view to Careca's hill!
Gabriel Braico Dornas — Google review
Natal, a splendid sea city located in the warmest part of Brazil, the northeast, with astonishing, sandy white beaches, including its most popular one, the PRAIA PONTA NEGRA, easily recognizable by its landmark MORRO DO CARECA (Brazilian for "the bald hill").
The water temperature in this part of the land, is the best thing that your body and soul can experience, being perfectly warm all year around. Outside the water you've got a tropical-wet climate with the ocean breeze mitigating the, otherwise, oppressive heat. Probably my favorite kind of climate.
Praia Ponta Negra is a very pretty urban-beach, with its beautiful promenade, palm trees and delicious bars and restaurants. All you have to do is grab a coconut from a local seller, put your canga (Brazilian for beach towel) on the white, soft sand, call a local masseur (scattered all over the beach) that will give you the best relaxing moments and then go for a swim in the warm ocean. To end a perfect day, go to a restaurant by the beach, and eat one of the best sea food in Brazil. I definitely recommend trying the "caranguejo", which means crab.
If you happen to be in Natal, Ponta Negra is a fantastic must!

Loved this beach. Overall it was relatively clean but varies depending on where you are on the beach. Areas that less people frequent are cleaner.
The nice part about this beach is that it is so long, nice sand, smooth walk into the water with a sandy bottom, nice waves, and no shortage of food and drink options.
E — Google review
Ponta Negra Beach takes its name from the surrounding neighborhood in the city of Natal. The name (“black point”) derives from the dark stones that are found along this beach. The beach is about 2.4 miles long (4 kilometers) and at its southernmost end, is bordered by a large sand dune (390 feet tall) known as Morro do Careca (“bald hill” in Portuguese). The waters in this part are very calm & ideal for taking a dip. If you like surfing, stand-up or kite-surfing, different parts of the beach are ideal for these sports. The turquoise water here is very clean.
This beach is also very popular because it is located near many hotels and pousadas, restaurants, bars & food stalls. There’s activity here day and night. If you want, you can walk the length of the beach along its wide paved path or rent a bicycle.
Another reason for the popularity of this beach is the warm water—it’s about 82°F (28°C) all year-round. If you’re visiting the city of Natal, it will be hard for you not to find yourself on or near this beach, and you will be glad that you visited it too.
Edward Delfino — Google review
This beach is nice, right in Natal. 45 Minutes south is Pipa, where the beaches tend to be cleaner. However, there are some nice hotels, bed and breakfasts and resorts in Natal that look quite nice. This beach was very fun and busy, excellent beach side service, most beach side vendors will go out of their way to bring whatever you want, for a price of course, though reasonable in the end.
