Fountain of St. Joseph, also known as Chafariz de Sao Jose, is a historic site built in 1749 that served as a crucial stop for travelers to replenish their canteens and water their animals. Despite its slightly worn appearance, the fountain exudes an air of tranquility with its surrounding greenery, making it an ideal spot for picnics or seeking respite from the heat.
Very cool historic fountain. It was very unusual because it is in someone's front yard. The home located behind the fountain is privately owned. it was a little disappointing to see only two of the three heads of the fountain working at the time we visited. Hopefully the caretaker has plans to restore this historic Monument.

(Translated by Google) It's a small museum that was built where an old prison was, you can see a space where there was a solitary confinement (you can't see it very well, because the glass is a little foggy). Now the museum itself is for images of Mary's mother, so it ends up being very specific. I think it's worth a visit, as they are old pieces and it's cool as a historical record, but if you're not that interested in the topic, it's not that fun.

The stunning church named after Tiradentes' patron saint, Igreja de Santo Antonio, is a remarkable work of Aleijadinho and one of his final designs. The interior is resplendent with Old Testament allusions and features notable objects like the polychrome organ brought from Portugal in 1798 by donkey and the seven golden phoenixes that suspend candleholders with braided chains. The sundial at the entrance dates back to 1785.

This is a very well preserved farm from 1845 that used to produce coffee. The first owner was Domingos Custódeo Guimarães or Viscount of Rio Preto (Black River Viscount). The actual owners belongs to the second family of owners of this farm. Mrs. Simone and her husband keep the place preserved as it was in the century the farm was built. Everything is kept original, the furniture, the paintings, decoration... Is like going in the past. I can say it is one of the best preserved farms from the time that coffee was considered an investment good as gold. To visit this farm, you have to schedule your visit by phone. The price is about US$10.00, it is not expensive due to the knowledge of the owners about the farm history and their sympathy. It is easy to find a place to park in the farm, don't worry about this.

(Translated by Google) I saw an excellent performance by Juliana Maia, a quality singer.
About the place, I found the chairs a little uncomfortable and there were a lot of insects in the place where I sat, they made me a little uncomfortable, the price is ok for those who are traveling in pairs, if the family is large, it's a big deal.
Well located. The show is worth it.

Itatiaia National Park is the oldest national park in Brazil, boasting a diverse array of landscapes ranging from dense rainforests to rugged peaks. The lower section of the park is easily accessible and offers visitors numerous short trails that lead to breathtaking waterfalls and natural swimming holes. Meanwhile, serious hikers and climbers can explore the remote high country via an unpaved road. The park is also home to abundant flora and fauna, such as orchids, monkeys, and tropical birds.
Wonderful national park at Itataia. It's possible to visit the park on foot, bike or by car. Visitors entering the park by car must pay an extra fee (around R$ 24,00) to take it's paved and non paved roads on a motored vehicle. The activities available at the park for visitors range from a beautiful cultural centre with many historical highlights, track trails in a rich forest terrain, magnificent waterfalls to admire and freshen up, numerous bird watching spots, and exuberant viewpoints of the Mantiqueira Mountain and it's wildlife. The difficulty of tracks may vary a lot. Upon entry on the park, visitors are given a detailed map, which shows what's possible to do whilst visiting the site. The park is basically divided into a lower and an upper part. The most demanding tracks, which are also those that one needs to plan in advance, are located in the upper part of park. In those areas, it's possible to camp on designated areas or stay for the night at one of the park's lodging houses (reservation in advance needed). In the park's website, there are lots of information for visitors, and high definition pdf maps for downloading, as well as a list of well trained guides on the park whenever the need arises. It's not possible to park in any spot by the road, the permitted parking areas will be sign posted. All around the park, it's possible to see restaurants, hotels and other private properties, which means there's no time available to do everything you'll find at the park. It's a highly recommended visit, and a place not to forget.

It's a decent park, but beware that the upper portion of the park is almost impossible to get up with a regular car. You DEFINITELY need a high-clearance vehicle like an SUV or 4x4 to do it, or a motorcycle.
I tried to ask the staff about this beforehand and they were unhelpful and didn't even know about this.

Very nice musuem about Finalnd's first settlers at the city of Penedo. This is the only musuem of this kind in Brazil, and it is located inside the beautiful building of the Finland's Club (it looks very medieval from the outside and, once inside, you'll see how wonderfully decorated it is: check out the superb work of its wooden carved stairs and stoned walls), which is well known in town. The entrance fee is a modest one (R$ 10,00), and the exhibition occupies two floors of the club, one of which is in the basement (sort of sets the tone of the visit). The collection is not vast, but there are tons of objects on display, most of them are original pieces, as they might have been donated from previous inhabitants of the Finalnd community that once existed in the area in 1929. The visit starts with a few historical panels and some patintings, including Toivo's work (need to confirm with the staff if it's still on display), and, then, it continues down onto the basement, including a few displays about past and present Finland's way of life. The entire visit may last around 1 hour or so, and the staff is very welcoming and happy to assist in any query from the visitors. There is a parking lot in front of the club. The musuem, though, is only opened during weekends, so, if you happen to have a chance to pop into town on Saturday or Sunday, I would really recommend taking the tour at this musuem.

However, it is necessary to point out that the times shown on Google are not reliable, we planned the trip according to what was stated (only closed on Wednesdays), we went TUESDAY AND THURSDAY and it was also closed! You need to fix this urgently, people make plans and come from far away to visit the museum and lose their trip because they don't follow the schedules shown online.
Another thing, I gave my student card to charge half price and even so it was wrongly charged (we only saw it later), stay tuned.

(Translated by Google) Incredible. One of the best visits to historic farms I've ever done. Excellent for the farm's original collection, the restoration carried out, the organization and planning for visits. The guide is very well prepared. The owners live on site, so there are spaces that cannot be visited, but this does not compromise its historical legacy. The owner is very kind, knowledgeable and encourages historic conservation. There are projects underway to build the museum and cafeteria. A visit is unmissable. Price: 25 reais/person (November 2023).

O proprietário é muito gentil, conhecedor e incentivador da conservação histórica. Há projetos em andamento para a construção do museu e cafeteria. Imperdível a visita. Preço: 25 reais/pessoa (novembro 2023).

(Translated by Google) I was at the Farm yesterday and it was a very pleasant surprise.
Mr. Pedro gave us a real history lesson, it had been a while since I learned so much about the era of the big coffee farms.
The place has been restored and is beautiful.
It's sad to think about how much the enslaved suffered, but it's part of our history and we must learn from it so as not to repeat the same mistakes.
