Candi Selogriyo, a Hindu temple established on a hill in the 9th century and encompassed by mountains, rice paddies, and woodland. It was reconstructed after being damaged by landslides in 2005 and rebuilt again in 2018. This historical monument is scarcely visited but has an evocative ambiance. The views of the surrounding rice fields are particularly stunning, and it is believed that its fountain water has healing properties capable of bestowing eternal youthfulness.
I tell you, honestly the journey to reach this place is superb.. the way through wide landscape of rice field on hill side will freshen up your mind and makes you wonder how great this world is.. :p
suggestion: rent a motorcycle or by ojek to reach up there.. because only by motorcyle or walking around 30min' to get there. .
i get there by riding motorcycle, it takes upto 15 minutes to reach the nearest parking lot to the top, and continue walking thru several stairs.
even though there's nothing much to see at the spot, but sometimes the best part of travelling is journey not destination.
And this journey, pictures of the scenery, i wouldn't ever forget, maybe this is the best track ever i ride by far...

It is a Hindu temple deep in the mountains. Surprisingly, its appearance was well preserved. The surrounding area was kept clean and there were generally many foreign tourists like me.

It is a quite small temp, but you can experience an very nice walk with a great view on the rice terraces. Also on the way there is a coll coffee spot to have a short break. The combination of landscape and the nice small temple makes it worth a visit. Take a car and let you bring to the end of the small village. Frome there it is a 30 tp 45min walk.

Quiet and beautiful, nice hiking in the rice field.

Our guide brought us here between Borobudur and Prambanan temples, and it was a nice visit to be able to see the impressive rice fields on the side of the mountain. Do not expect much from the temple, but the walk up from the village is amazing. There is an entrance fee of 25.000 IDR/person.

Selogriyo is a very nice temple with supported by beautiful scenery. We need hiking about 2 kilometers to reach the temple from car parking area. So, it means we can combine at least 3 activities here, namely cultural, natural and physical (sport activity) tourism.
budi zan — Google review
The road to up is winding and narrow and you have to continue walking from the end road up about 1.5 km. The view however is breathtaking. The temple itself was being reconstructed. Even than the view for me is far more important to see, not to mention friendly natives I met along the walk. I was struggling for the bathroom and one neighbor let me in just like that. Parking is very limited, if possible go with a local driver so you don’t have to worry about parking.
Irtati Hasan Wibisono — Google review
Perhaps it was an easy walk and hike, but apparently not for me. There's motorcycle for hire if ypu do not want to walk.
There is a lot of vandalism on the temple, but it is worth the visit. Calm and serene atmosphere
Gregorius Gagat Handoyo (gathan) — Google review
I was amazed by the stunning sceneries along the way to this temple. So green and yet so tranquil. The road for motorbike and pedestrians are well made and maintained. I could not describe more how beautiful this area. And this tiny temple is worth it . On top of the hill ,just if we are lucky enough to enjoy when the sky is clear. Mount Sumbing is the view that we can not miss at all. Parking lot for motorbike is upstair just near to the stairs to the temple but for the car you need to park a little bit far and then you can either walk or take rental bike that costs 25.000 IDR for one way or 40.000 for returns. Toilet is available near by the second gate just before the temple. And it is clean enough. Perfect timing to visit is during dry season ( April to October) or morning when it is not cloudy. I am sure I will be back here to take more pictures.
andreas aan sugiarto — Google review
The temple itself is quite small, but the views on the walk to the temple are breath-taking. Rice fields, terraces and volcanoes - stunning. Lots of wildlife to be seen and certainly worth the walk.
Bob Drake — Google review
Selogriyo is about 30 km. away from Borobudur, and journey by car or motorcycle takes about one hour (each way), over paved, winding country lanes.
Walking through the village, you can see the backbreaking work needed to grow the rice and harvest wood etc. Never take your food for granted. I couldn’t even imagine walking up and down those terraces to plant and harvest rice every day.
Indra Widianto — Google review
You need to walk about 2 km from the entrance. The view is amazing.
Ticket price is Rp7.000.
If you drive a car, you can park your car at the villagers' house and you need to pay and ask permission first but it's not expensive.

Mendut Buddhist Monastery is a small temple located 3.5km to the east of Borobudur, Java. Though it may appear unimportant compared to its grand neighbor, it holds an exceptional statue of Buddha in its original setting, flanked by Bodhisattvas Lokesvara and Vairapana. The Buddha's posture is noteworthy as he sits Western-style with both feet on the ground.
Very nice place. A lot of green field and some big trees. The candi is big and awesome. The overall place is clean and neat.
There are plenty of parking space. So don't worry if you bring your own car or motorcycle. I saw some merchandise shops around with fair price.

A theravada buddhist monastery. The monks residing here also oversee the ceremonies at the Borobudur. The monastery is quiet beautiful and worth a visit. The Mendut temple is old and smallish. Once a year at weisak the mendut monks lead the 3 day weisak festivities at mendut and borobudur.
Taco de Vries — Google review
Calm and beautiful temple area. Free entrance to the area and some buildings are also accessible for meditation. We had a charming talk with one of the monks.
Lukas S — Google review
Before going to Borobudur, this temple is the first temple to be seen. It is a triad of Buddhist temples namely Borobudur, Pawon, and Mendut.
I don't get into the temple but to the monastery. The place is quiet, neat, and clean. If you want to pray, then go ahead.
Lots of photo spots, but, always remember even though this is can be said as a ‘tourist attraction’ but please be polite and follow the regulations there.
Michael J. — Google review
A very beautiful monastery located in the Mendut temple's area. It was my first visit and I admired the culture and value there. I don't know why when I came it felt as if I found some peace. Such a must go destination when you want to do temple vacations.
Mita — Google review
The temple is well preserved. But the ruins and artefacts deserve a better place than leave scattered on the ground without any roofing protection

A quiet and clean Monastery with few people around, able to slowly enjoy sightseeing...

A vert tranquil place to visit. Visited by accident as was looking for the temple. Very pleased I did.

Love it! Often went there in the past when i was studying in jogja. Still a nice place to go even after all these years
Christine Zhang — Google review
This is not one of the 3 main temples, and we could walk in and explore freely. I though much more interesting and beautiful than the famous Borobodur structure. Some amazing moss-covered statues in the gardens and a beautiful prayer hall. Its definitely worth a visit.
Vincent Oliver — Google review
Currently not accepting public visitors. Private visitors intending to pray might need to book or contact the staff ahead. It used to open to the public, which then allows visitors to either pray or simply take photos. The atmosphere is superbly serene.

Mendut is one of the ancient buddhist temple in Indonesia. Located near borobudur temple, so you can visit mendut while exploring borobudur. Best time to visit is in the morning so you can avoid crowd and its not too hot either. I visit mendut to celebrate vesak day, so you can feel the crowd doing rituals together

Entrance is free. Lovely place to walk around after a visit to the temple. We discovered this Sala Tree with its beautiful flower. We later found out that it is native to India, Bangladesh, Nepal, Tibet and Himalayas.

High-altitude lookout with views of volcanoes Mount Merapi & Mount Merbabu, plus a restaurant.
Ketep Pass is one of the best spot to view Mount Merbabu and Merapi side by side..
This place can be reached from Magelang & Semarang via Kopeng street. The path has many uphill roads, so make sure your vehicle is in good condition.
There are also those who offer trips by jeep.
The tour will visited several spots such as waterfalls, playing water in the "gerojogan" and others.. it's so much fun!
I suggest you to come here early in the morning, because in the afternoon it is usually foggy and the mountains are covered with clouds.

What a great view! Amazing! Just a bit disappointed by the enter fee, personally I think it's a bit expensive compares to the other place. But overall the place is great, there are a lot of restrooms and it's clean. Don't forget to bring your jacket or coat here, or you may get cold
enzy-dee — Google review
The place has a museum that tells about the history of mount Merapi. However, it was obviously look unkempt and outdated. They need to renovate the museum to make it more attractive. The outdoor area was clean and the view was pretty cool though.
They had a restaurant which overlooked the mountain view however they only have limited menu.
One thing that I don't like is we need to pay to use the dirty and broken toilets.
Hanin Br. — Google review
Entry ticket was cheap also vehicle parking ticket cheap too. Very fresh air. We can find many information about volcano mt history here. Kids like to know. Staff and people surround are very kind.

Ketep Volcano Ctr located in the Magelang area. A breathtakinng view of Mount Merapi and Mount Merbabu from a high altitude. Nice place to visit. If you hv time, do try their street food too such as fried tofu, roasted corn.
Nurul Syahida Ahmad Said — Google review
beautiful view! pro tip: bring an umbrella in case of rain as the weather changes rapidly. when we came here we cant really see the merapi mountain due to the heavy fog. on a sunny day the merapi is pretty clear, though.
Talitha Kirana — Google review
First time visiting and first impression was so so only. They charge foreigners Rp50k per person and you get one free soft drink. There is a volcano museum but looks pretty run down. Was told can view volcano documentary in the in-house theatre bit it was closed when I visited. What a let down. So the only saving grace was the observation platform at the hill top overlooking the villages. Too bad it was cloudy and misty so did not get to see much of the mountain view.
Tze Wee Teoh — Google review
Breathtaking views, but not without its downsides. Visiting Ketep Pass is a treat for those wanting to feast their eyes on Mount Merapi and Merbabu. The covered lookout is a thoughtful touch, especially useful when the rain pours. However, as a Westerner, be prepared for a hefty entry fee – five times higher than locals, though it does come with a free drink. A significant drawback is the limited parking, which becomes particularly problematic during busy weekends. And a word of caution: the toilets leave much to be desired, being quite dirty and poorly maintained. Despite these issues, the stunning views do offer some redemption.
DM Gora — Google review
Better visit this place in the morning. Before the clouds covering the mountain.
Quite large space. Many good spots for taking selfies. Better not visit this place on weekend or public holiday.
And yeah, i love the view. Just sitting on the chair while looking at the landscape. So peaceful.
Entrance fee: 12k
Parking fee: 3k (bike)

So crowded when we came at saturday, tough to find the parking area. But not so many attraction in this place, just a cool view the 2 fabolous mountain Merapi and Merbabu. 12,5 K IDR per person and pay more 9K IDR the get the 2nd level of the place to get higher view to the see the surrounding.
Muhamad Mujadid — Google review
the view is good and the place is quite clean, the air is cool, lots of photo spots, cheap entrance tickets
nanie anatoni — Google review
Our trip here was super impromptu but that's alright. They have a lot of posters and displays related to Mount Merapi but to be honest, they feel a bit outdated. They have a café corner that only sells cup noodles and some packaged drinks. And then on top there's also a restaurant with plenty of seats but when we got there at about 9 or 10 AM, not many menus were ready. Not many things to do to be honest but the view is great! You can eat at a Warmindo on the parking lot instead 😅
Khairena Zhafran Dary — Google review
Need to pay Rp12,500/person for the gate, and you need to add Rp9,000/person if you want to go to museum or other attraction. Not many attraction, only a view of Mt. Merapi.

In Central Java, there are several artificial and natural lakes. One of the natural lakes in Central Java is Rawa Pening. Rawa Pening is located in the Ambarawa district. We can enjoy the beauty of the lake by riding a boat that will take us to the middle of the lake. Before reaching the middle of the lake, we will find a lot of water hyacinths that grow. Then, in the middle of the lake, there are fish ponds that make many white cranes fly over or perch on cages. Besides, on the edge of the lake, there are also parks, restaurants, and a game arena for children. This place is perfect for relaxing with family and friends, because it is in a pretty high contour area, in the foot of the mountain, don't forget to bring a jacket when visiting the lake! :)

The Ullen Sentalu Museum, located in Sleman, Yogyakarta, is a privately-owned museum established by the Haryono family in 1994. Managed by the Ulating Blencong Foundation, the museum houses various relics and artifacts from royal Javanese houses that reveal the history of Mataram Kingdom and reflect Hindu-Buddhist culture.
We were having an absolute blast visiting this museum! If you love history, you will love this place. SUPER RECOMMENDED!
Our guide for the day was Ms Juni, she is very good at explaining all the different things, and she brings good vibes. They should give her a raise haha 😉 😅
There are 2 kinds of tour. One was IDR 50k, the other was 100k. We went with the 100k tour. Our tour was about 40 to 60 minutes. The tour was about the Javanese Mataram history and culture and its ties with Chinese and Dutch culture. We also were given cookies and coffee and tea. Can't take pictures inside the museum. But don't be afraid, there will be a spot for a good photo session outside at the end of the tour. All and all we spent 2 hours at the place.
The place was super large. You have to walk all the way because there were so many stairs. Not so disability-friendly.
Yuwara Yogaiswara — Google review
A very nice place to visit for historical learning purposes. The guide was very kind and informative throughout the 45 mins tour. But I didn’t expect the place to be only like that. We have two options for the tour with different prices, 50k or 100k. For me, it’s a little bit pricey to pay with such price only to see bunch of paintings and some traditional cloth for local tourists. It’s also prohibited to bring your camera, so we don’t really have any merchandise to bring as a gift.

It felt so serene and peaceful here, surrounded by forest, the place is far away from hustle and bustle of the city, perfect for quick getaway. The museum itself is about culture and civilization of central java and Yogyakarta in the past, as you explore the museum, you'll be accompanied with traditional Javanese tunes as well, combined with surrounding forest, it feel so peaceful and makes you want to stay longer. Oh and they also have an English guide tour for 100k. Inside the museum complex, there's a dutch restaurant, it's worthy to try it.

When i get off from the car and stand in front of this museum, i know i will had a great time. For you who like serenity, surrounded by nature, and curious in history of Java especially Ancient Mataram and Moslem Mataram, this place is the perfect place for you. You will have educator to give you a complete and fun explanation about the museum along the session (45minutes). Inside this area they also have the restaurant with indische menu that you have to try when you visit. I wouldn't mind to come for second visit. My favorite museum in Indonesia so far.

Great Javanese Historical Museum. The museum is private, calm & shady. They have two tickets u can choose, 100k/person & 50k/person. Ticket 50k include tour guide and 100k include tour guide & coffee break. The historical about Javanese Mataram, Yogyakarta & Surakarta culture. The historical tour was about 30-50 minutes. Inside museum you can't take a picture, so u can enjoy & focus the historical tour. But don't worry, there will be a spot photo outside at the end of the tour. Recommended!

Ullen Sentalu is located on a high land kilometres away from the center of Yogya City. I can say it is similar to the concept of Selasar Sunaryo or Wot Batu in Bandung which have a lot of similarities. The design of the building is really beautiful. Me and my friends took the 50k museum tour to know more about the Yogya's batik and story. The tour guide explain it nicely though I feel more excited about the ambience and the building and the weather than the tour actually.
We arrived here by using online transport and we had a bit of trouble to get online transport to go back to the city. So please make sure to rent a car to or your own vehicle to get here. Overall it is a nice place to getaway from the city hustle and a perfect place for a group of introverts to visit.

As someone mentioned earlier, it is indeed the most well prepared museum in Indonesia. The collections are actually not many, but our museum guide, Juni, her way of explanation made it a memorable, not another boring museum tour. I knew a thing or two now about Javanese kingdom now. Good tour and Jogja or Solo or Javanese teachings/ wisdom is pretty much still relatable to present/daily life.

What an amazing experience!
The museum provides a tour for a single entry. You can choose types of tour.
Once you enter the gallery, the vibes are so real by the nice explanation from the guide. Must visit once in a lifetime.
Note: no pictures are allowed during the tour, so enjoy the tour!

The territory of the museum is very beautiful, HOWEVER the exposition is strange: after a hall with local music instruments the guide took us to a picture with a family tree of the local noble family (who’ve founded this museum, as we understand). Then it was a hall with the photos of all that people, then another hall with reprinted letters to a lady from this family. That’s pretty much all.
No local sculpture, or wood curving, or any other art & craft artifacts or pieces of historical heritage (with I honestly expected to see after going through photos on Google Maps). The thing is — it’s not allowed to take shots inside, so all you can see on the tourists photos here — those are the decoration of the territory.
There were some other facilities around, but our guide won’t take us in, though we saw people exploring those parts of the museum.
I would say it was rather disappointing experience, however (once again) — the territory of the museum is beautiful!
You may consider visiting this place if you’re deeply interested in family of Yogyakartas’ governors, otherwise I couldn’t recommend the museum.

It is a private museum that Located near mt. Merapi. Museum Ullen sentalu provide a very good guide, well I can say not only a guide but a storyteller. We booked Adiluhung Tour for 50K IDR each. A 45 minutes tour that amaze everyone. My guests were very happy and content with the tour. Perhaps it would be great if there's small store to grab some drink. The ambience is very nice as well. Thank you

The museum is Private where you will have guided while exploring, but the guide speak in bahasa only.
Speaking off the entrance fee is 50K and 100K depending on the route you will take, i did take the 50K and its about 50min tour with a coffe break... is it worth? Considering that u CAN NOT take the picture inside while tour and the things that you will see in the museum.. i would say its quite expensive, but i gain some knowledge and to preserve the culture so its okay, the museum is beautiful and really good atmosphere so i quite enjoy to spend my time here.

One of the most well prepared museum tours in Indonesia that you should try. Don't worry, there will be a guide who can speak English if you are from abroad.
the atmosphere is quite interesting you will be invited to walk through the hallway and move house by house, and in my opinion it is quite good. The positioning of the stories is really quite good, you will be presented with the colonial period of the kingdom of Jogja and Islamic Mataram, as well as the collections in the kingdom.
For 50K per person I think it was worth it, because the brother I invited got inspired in making his batik.
*Caution:
No photo or video are allowed during the tour session.

Super nice and chill place for relax :). The restaurant vibe like “Batavia Cafe” something like classic, old but modern. It actually a bit confusing to get there because I paid a 2 times of parking??
I paid 10k for the entrance it’s like the front gate over there I thought it’s including parking but it isn’t, so we need to pay more extra 2k when we are about near to the museum.
I don’t have intention to go to the museum just went to the restaurant. It’s all fine, everything is good and chill.
The ice tea and caramel latte is good. The chocolate lava is recommended:)

Awesome Museum. A must go place. This place will explain to you about the royal family and history behind it, also the custom clothing, family drama, historical events, and alot other things.
There are 3 types of places you can visit starting from admission of 50k, 60k and 100k. Start from the first one, then follow by the second and third. If you take all. Would be very awesome but you will need to spend 210k all for more than 2hours of guided tour. All of these prices are already with tour guide.
Very informative and educated tour guide and full of jokes. Mine is a lady but forgotten her name.
There is a restaurant in there as well with a classic set up. Food is mostly european style. Although there are local cuisine as well. Price is a bit more than local price. Range is around 50 - 80k. Drinks are around 20 - 30k.

The Ullen Sentalu Museum is a museum that tells the story of the Mataram Kingdom and Yogyakarta. Entrance tickets to this museum are divided into two categories, namely short trips at a price of fifty thousand rupiah and long trips at a price of one hundred thousand rupiah. This museum is closed every Monday. Parking is easy, but you have to walk some distance if you drive by car. This museum is private, but the calm and positive and sacred atmosphere can be felt. There is a cafe and a restaurant located in the Ullen Sentalu Museum area. The distance is quite far from the city center of Jogja, taking about an hour. This museum is very close to the Kaliurang Tourist Park.

Wonderful museum, staff members and crew maintain the museum clean and tidy. Firstly you should buy ticket and after that you should check in at the lobby. They make a plan for costumers and they arranged guide for them. And it is a good thing for foreigners that there are guider who talk in English very good. If you wonder how about yogyakarta sultans came to nowadays, how they were divided, how was the life in the palace. There are many visual items that you can see there. In my opinion the best museum in yogyakarta. And fortunately my guider was Juni. She was amazing. The journey in the museum was really fantastic. Along the journey She lectured with full energy. Thank you Juni.

Our visit to Museum Ullen Sentalu was a genuinely interesting experience. We opted for the guided Mataram tour, which was an eye-opener about the royal family of Yogyakarta. Our guide was not only friendly but incredibly knowledgeable, making the history come alive. A pleasant surprise was that our tour turned out to be private, adding a personal touch to the experience. However, it's worth noting that photography isn't allowed inside, and there aren't many interactive exhibits – something for the tech-savvy visitors to keep in mind. After soaking in all that history, we had a fantastic meal at the Beukenhaus. Definitely a must-visit for anyone interested in Javanese culture and history, topped off with great food!"

Ratu Boko Palace, located in Bokoharjo, Prambanan of the Special Region of Yogyakarta, is a 16-hectare archaeological site known for its blend of Buddhist and Hindu structures. The site features stone temples and caves that are best experienced during dusk or sunset. Non-Indonesian/foreign visitors can expect to pay an admission fee of USD13 for those above 10 years old and USD7 for those below.
Historical place where kings palace and Temple. It is a very beautiful place and well maintained.you have to climb by stairs for 5-10mins. This place can tell us how historical Indonesia was and how it was destroyed later. Now the only entrance is that we can see the rest is ruins. The Indonesian archeology department must focus on this site and use modern tools to excavate the remains.

Well maintained and clean. Very nice scenery. But it is to busy for many days, so you can't take photo perfectly, basically in main gate of the palace
ikhsan arrahman — Google review
I feel robbed. The place is definitely a waste of money. It doesn't cost 25$. It is just a huge park with stoned rectangles on the ground called "palace". The most interesting thing is the main gate that you can see in every photo. But even the gate doesn't impress in reality to make the price reasonable. I would consider this as a charity to console myself.

Not as famous as borobudur or prambanan temple, but because of good maintain, this place realy suit for sunset hunting. At the top of mountain makes the view is so beautiful. Great for healing, the road to come here isn't hard at all too. Historically beautifu👍

Historical temples, older than Borobudur and Prambanan. It took us almost 2 hours to see all the places. I recommend paying for a tour guide so you know all the enchanting stories behind every corner. The view is very beautiful, you can see the Prambanan temple from here. I would love to go back and watch the sunset here.

Unique history. You should come here after visiting Prambanan temple. It's nice spot to see sunset.

Foreigners don’t bother coming here.
The entrance is so expensive $25 as per nov 2023 and then there was an additional line of something in Indonesian I don’t understand yet they don’t bother restoring the place? The grass too isn’t really cut and I’m like walking on these prehistoric rocks, almost fell because one of the places were steep and sandy after the servants baths. I know, no snakes but I was walking on the grass and it buzzes sometimes because of dragonfly or a random insect.
This place i believe was a nice place but nothing is maintained well in here now. Also villagers were burning rubbish inside because there are people living in sides
Buy tickets in advance before you go in if you’re a foreigner.

I have been there for 3 times and never get bored since it provides great view of sunset. The place itself is quite huge and not only including the gate (the popular one) but there are also ponds, some part of 'keraton ratu boko', and a large field.

One of heritage site in Yogyakarta, not as popular as Prambanan temple, but I think it has better ambience and scenery. The best time to go here is above 3pm. I recommend you to watch sunset here, at least once in your lifetime, because it's so beautiful. It's not located on main road like Prambanan temple, so if you don't bring any vehicle, you can go here by shuttle fro Prambanan Temple.

The temple is well managed, it is so clean and the government already built fascikities to suppkrt this place. We like the green view from the top. U can also enjoying the view at the bottom from the top of the temple. In particukar day there were art market too. The enatrance fee i think bit exoensive comoare to candi ijo and candi plaosan tho

The best time to visit this place is around 4-5 pm, so you can see the beautiful sunset from the top of the Hill. And fewer people on the weekdays so you can get a good picture 👍🏻

The ticket is a bit too expensive, but it pays off with lots of unique and beautiful photo spots as well as seeing historical relics directly.
Sangat recommended untuk kamu yang suka spot foto historical and unique.
Raditya Bagus — Google review
The main gate and the gardens are very beautiful. Unfortunately, the rest of the buildings lie in ruin and there is not really much to see. To add insult to injury the price is the same as the flagship site of Prambanan or 6 times as high as Plaosan temple, which is way more interesting. At the end of the day, if you are short on time, I would give this one a miss.
Grigoris Godevenos — Google review
The ticket was so outrageously expensive for foreigners at $25 that I refused to pay and left. How can you charge more than the Louvre museum ($20) ??!! The site might be beautiful but reaping off tourists is not a good practice.
Clement Barillot — Google review
It is not a temple, but more the palace, or what is left of it. And left not much. Nice stroll around imagining how magnificent it might have been. I really don’t understand why they charge 25 $ for the entrance, cause it’s nothing to renovate nothing to preserve much

Prambanan Temple is an ancient Hindu temple complex located in Indonesia and is a World Heritage site. It consists of around 244 temples and features impressive stone spires and sculptures, including the famous Candi Shiva Mahadeva. The main compound includes eight major and eight minor temples on a raised platform, showcasing intricate carvings and staircases. The surrounding park also contains smaller temples, making it a major attraction in Southeast Asia.
Visited Candi Prambanan after Borobudur. Still as magnificent. We went with a tour guide so there was someone to explain about the history. Hope there is more information on the significance of each structure.
Lots of unfinished structures, must be tough to rebuild them. It's like a puzzle.

Prambanan Temple in Indonesia is a truly breathtaking and awe-inspiring place to visit. Located in the Central Java region of the country, this ancient temple complex is a testament to the incredible skill and creativity of the Javanese people.
The temple itself is a masterpiece of architecture and design, with beautiful and ornate carvings adorning every inch of its surface. The intricate details and attention to detail are truly breathtaking, and it's clear that a great deal of time and effort went into the construction of this temple.
In addition to the temple itself, the grounds of Prambanan are also home to a number of other smaller temples and structures, each of which is equally impressive and worth exploring. The entire complex is surrounded by lush, verdant gardens, which provide a beautiful and peaceful setting for visitors to explore and take in the sights and sounds of this historic site.
Overall, I would highly recommend a visit to Prambanan Temple to anyone traveling to Indonesia. Whether you're interested in history, architecture, or simply want to experience the beauty and culture of this incredible country, this temple is a must-see destination.

I came back to this place after almost 1 decade! The 50k entry ticket is not too expensive compared to the extra care to preserve the preservation of this historic place even though I entered at a ticket price of 25k (students understand). The older this place the more beautiful. Prambanan is very well maintained, and extraordinary care.
Since 2010, when you enter Prambanan Temple, you have to wear a batik sarong because it was indirectly a place of worship for Hindus in ancient times. Foreign tourists usually wear shorts. As a result, to respect Prambanan Temple as a place of worship, he was given a batik sarong

Prambanan, located on the island of Java in Indonesia, stands as a striking testament to the region's rich cultural and religious heritage. This UNESCO World Heritage site is a marvel of Hindu architecture, rivaling the grandeur of any ancient temple complex globally.
The towering spires of Prambanan, dedicated to the Trimurti—Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva—create an imposing skyline that beckons visitors to explore its intricacies. The main temple, devoted to Shiva, is an architectural masterpiece with its soaring height and detailed reliefs depicting scenes from Hindu epics, such as the Ramayana.
Wandering through Prambanan's expansive grounds is like navigating a sacred labyrinth. The smaller temples dedicated to Vishnu and Brahma, adorned with delicate carvings and statues, contribute to the site's overall majesty. As the sun sets, the temple complex is bathed in a warm, ethereal glow, creating a mystical ambiance that enhances the spiritual experience.
Prambanan's restoration efforts have preserved its historical significance, allowing visitors to marvel at the craftsmanship of the past. The intricately carved bas-reliefs narrate tales of divine battles and celestial beings, providing a visual feast for those seeking to unravel the layers of Javanese mythology.
Beyond its historical and architectural splendor, Prambanan serves as a vibrant cultural hub. Periodic dance performances, especially the Ramayana Ballet, bring the ancient narratives to life, creating a sensory journey that combines sight, sound, and tradition.
In conclusion, Prambanan is a treasure trove of art, history, and spirituality. Its resplendent temples and cultural vibrancy make it an indispensable destination for those eager to immerse themselves in Indonesia's profound and captivating past.

Extraordinary set of Hindu temples in the Prambanan Valley, rising out of the plain like mountain peaks. Especially noteworthy are the main Shiva Temple and the Vishnu Temple, with their intricate carvings and powerful statues in the inner sanctums.
Well worth the hassle involved in getting there: a mile-long walk from the bus terminal, large crowds in the ticketing area (foreigners must purchase tickets in a different area -- more expensive, but literally no waiting), and the ubiquitous touts (though it is nowhere near as obnoxious here as in Borodubur).
Steve Tolle — Google review
The temple itself is an amazing glimpse into the past of Indonesia and is one of those sites that makes you wonder how its construction was completed given the time it was built in.
The surrounding facilities include a lot of fun activities for kids, restaurants, shops, etc, and there are a number of well organized options for transportation around the complex and to other nearby temples.
Overall, I enjoyed the Prambanan experience more than Borobudur, but you can't go wrong at either place if ancient temples are your thing.

You might not be actually interested in this Hindu temples but you're just going to visit here because your tour package includes this site together with the Borobudur, or just because it's one of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Don't worry. Me too.
There are black and ashy spires and tons of rubbles in the perimeter surrounded by nature. Lots of Hindu gods reliefs are etched on the stones, and some statues are enshrined in the cave. Sounds attractive?
Considering it is built in the 9th century it's amazing. But to be honest, it's no exciting. A lackluster type of historic site.
If I'm well-versed in its historic backgrounds and Hinduism itself, viewpoint changes?

Candi Prambanan is an absolute marvel. This ancient Hindu temple complex took my breath away with its intricate stone carvings and towering spires. But what made my visit even more special was the Prambanan Jazz Festival 2023 happening simultaneously. The fusion of music and the temple's majestic backdrop was simply enchanting. The organizers did a fantastic job, and the atmosphere was magical.
Overall even without any event happening this place is still a masterpiece and a must visit when you visit Yogyakarta.

I LOVE the Prambanan temple. I personally think it’s better than the Borobudur temple by a long shot. The temples are stunning and you can enter them! How lovely.
The grounds are quite massive and they have a shuttle bus to transport between some sites, but the schedule isn’t clear nor reliable. There is a museum, but there are no English translations available. I do feel the $60 USD entry fee could’ve been better delegated to address these things.
However, it’s still worth every penny!

This temple should not be miss when you visit Yogyakarta. If you want to know the history, it's good to get a guide. If you just want to enjoy the area and see the details of the structure, it's okay to go explore alone. Sunset was very nice one should not miss!

This is an amazing 8th / 9th century Hindi collection of temples that must be visited. Prambanan Temple is just a part of the wider Hindi / Buddhist complex. The stone reliefs depict the Hindu pantheon, legends, and interestingly birds that are not native to the area, demonstrating broad trade networks during that time.
It can be visited in an hour, but to appreciate the site, half a day is needed.
But more amazing than the temple was the hospitality of the locals...especially the school kids...who found any excuse to take a picture with a foreigner and make our visit as enjoyable as it could be
Darren Grubb — Google review
Lovely temple complex in Central Java. Easy to get to by bus from Yogyakarta. Went in January and it is very very hot. Make sure to bring a hat, sunscreen and water. The foreigner tickets are less than $400k and you get a bottle of water. Yes it’s pricey for Indonesia but I don’t mind since the funds go for all the needed restoration work. Also hired a guide for 120k because I have no idea about any Hindu history.
You can buy a combo ticket for Borobudur here. You get a discount for getting the tickets for both places. You can only get the discounted tickets at Prambanan. I went the opposite route and went to Borobudur first and didn’t realize they had a special. Both places are worth the visit.
It takes 3 years to restore one small temple, so it will take them about 600 years to finish it up. There are hundreds of smaller temples. The large ones are amazing. The detail of the carvings is crazy.
I happened to be almost as popular as the temples with the kids. Didn’t bother me. I don’t mind making them happy with pictures.
The complex grounds also contain 3 more temple areas that are Buddhist. Walked over to them and only saw a few other people. It was nice to get away from the crowds, though it wasn’t crowded, and have some alone time at these special spiritual places.

Wonderful Heritage. Lots of temples there. I would suggest people to get a local guide since they could explain the history and entire background of the whole place. They will definitely also increase your quality of visit. They know photo spots so that you will also have incredible pics with no to few people on the background with the main temple being seen fully. As a matter of fact, this site actually had around 240 temples though only 20 had been rebuilt by the government. The remaining is yet to be solved and built. One thing I can tell to you is that this place worth to be checked and seen. You will feel the ancient vibes and goosebumbs there.

As a foreign tourist, when you go to buy the entry tickets to these temples, be ready to get shocked. The entry ticket is exorbitantly priced, but believe me it is worth every penny you are paying.
We were literally blown away by the beauty of these magnificent temples. Words are not enough to describe it. No matter how long you see and appreciate this beauty, you can never have enough of it. You should not miss it at all when in Yogyakarta.
Watching sunset at these temples is the literally WOW..!! Check the pics.
One smart tip: Buy the combined entry ticket for Prambanan and Borobudur temples. Both are super expensive, but combined you get some discount on it.

Many ruins. Some intact and others fell apart since it's very old, over a thousand years. Beautifully sculptured animals and people. Good workmanship. It's located in Yogyakarta Special Region. A lot of visitors from other countries were there too. Good to take photos there. A lot of local guide who can speak many languages if you want to hire them and listen to the story of the temple. Ample parking areas.

Stop listening to the hardcore Angkor Watt fans, this place is also worth your time and money! Come early so you can avoid the heat and the crowds. 23/Aug: Old historical temple for tourist attraction. Nice for photo shots. Many have yet to restore after been destroyed by the earthquake. This place nay not be as famous as Borobudur, but it's good to visit after all one have arrived in Jogja.
Recommended to visit early to avoid the crowd and not hot. Temple surroundings is clear of trees, thus not much shade for visitors
There is tour guide for hire but there was no price list, that's the downside. I did not hire one, so no story telling.
Upon exit, one have to go through the maze of shops similar to Borobudur, but not as aggressive like Borobudur.
Overall, it was a good visit.

Another beautiful temple in Indonesia. Prambanan is one of the most famous temple that recommended to be visited while in Yogyakarta. Beautiful, majestic and full of historical arts, makes Prambanan easy to the eyes. There're another temple in Prambanan temple area, but since it's way too hot on sunny afternoon, I refrained from visiting another temple. Beware that since Prambanan located in highlands, it can suddenly rain pour on monsoon season even on sunny afternoon. Bring your own hat since there's no shade to cover from direct sunlight. Still, it's one of my happy experiences to visit Prambanan temple.

You can also ask the tour guide to explain the history (and be your photographer)

UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1991. I saw it in photos many times, but they don't match the real view at all. The real one is even more gorgeous and impressive. Actually, the place is a complex that comprises 4 temples (Prambanan itself and also Bubrah and Sewu you can see on the photos) and a beautiful park around them. Obviously, the temples couldn't be standing from the 9th century, so these were actually built again. But still, there are many original blocks on any level. Strongly recommended to visit, and it is absolutely worth its 25$.

I bought the tickets online for a fuss-free entry. There’s local tour guide available at 150k per hour. The temples are within walking distance but there are golf carts, bicycles, etc available for hire/rent.

Temple’s are amazing to see but animal cruelty on site is completely unacceptable.
After doing a circuit of the complex we came across an area with deer, cassowaries and peacocks which was really upsetting to see. Definitely concerns around animal welfare here with what looked like injured deer in dirty conditions, birds in tiny cages and all had little to no shade. People come here to see the UNESCO site, this treatment of animals is completely unnecessary, besides the point that there is actually plenty of space on site to give these animals a decent standard of living if it is insisted they remain there.
Regarding the temples themselves, yes it is more expensive for foreigners to enter but be reminded that this is a UNESCO site and consider what you would pay if this was anywhere else in the world.
There are 4 sites on this complex, the first is the biggest and main attraction for most, and whilst it is impressive we actually preferred the last as no-one else seems to bother going there so we pretty much had the site to ourselves. It is the least restored of the 4 but this didn’t bother us as it is a reminder of the history and also how impressive the restorations actually are.
Overall we enjoyed our visit but the situation with the animals needs to change and also be aware that if there are groups of school children around the main site, as a foreigner you will likely be approached so they can ask you questions whilst being filmed for their school project.
We got the local bus here rather than paying for tour etc which was easy enough with the direction of our homestay and much cheaper.

Sewu Temple is a prominent Buddhist temple complex comprising 249 shrines. It forms part of the Prambanan UNESCO World Heritage Site and dates back to the 8th century AD. The name "Sewu", meaning thousand temples, highlights its grand scale and religious significance in Central Java. Located about 800 meters north of Prambanan, visitors can reach it by walking or taking a small train between the two sites.

There will be information about how this temple was built. Unfortunately, to maintain the authenticity of the buildings and structures, several temples are no longer standing and many stones are on the ground. Baron Beach is a picturesque bay with black sand and towering karst cliffs in Gunung Kidul. It's known for its unique feature of sea water meeting fresh water, allowing visitors to swim in both. The beach gets crowded during school holidays, offering a fun experience for families with activities like playing in the sand and water. The area also boasts fresh seafood culinary delights, including the famous fish soup and lobster. Additionally, there's a scenic pathway through mountains that provides stunning views of the surroundings.
A beach that has spacious parking lots.
last time i came here was more than 15 years ago and a bit surprised to see the beach these days. I think its not a typical beach that suitable for swimming cz there are too many fishing boats here and there. But its a good one for those who like to hunt seafoods and local souvenirs.

During the school holidays yesterday my family and I went on vacation to the beach. One of the beaches in Gunung Kidul and quite famous is Baron Beach. During school holidays this beach becomes very crowded by visitors. Vacation to the beach is very fun. On the beach we played sand and water. The weather there is also very hot but it does not reduce the comfortable feeling to play here. The wind on the beach blows making the atmosphere cool even though the sun is quite stinging at that time. Fatigue is gone. It was great to be able to play with the two nephews on the beach. They looked happy when they saw the waves rushing over them while standing on the shoreline.

Baron Beach is unique, because there is sea water and fresh water that meet each other. Now, if we want to play in the waves, we have to cross the fresh water that surrounds a fairly large area of beach sand. Rejosari, Kemadang, Tanjungsari, Gunung Kidul Regency, Special Region of Yogyakarta, Indonesia
Jomblang Cave, situated in Gunung Kidul near Yogyakarta, is a unique geological formation comprising a collapsed sinkhole that forms part of a cave network. Visitors are provided with caving gear and lowered approximately 165 feet down the sinkhole on ropes before hiking through a tunnel to Grubug Cave. The cave is well-known for its sunken forest, where rays of sunlight create an enchanting effect within the underground space.
A great experience for us. Went down with a scary face but full of curiosity ....and found a beautiful ray of light. Good service from the crew.

Amazing experience. A must see. Incredible work by the locals, especially when it's time to pull you up! 20 or 30 people are in a line doing it by hand! Incredible.

I have mixed feelings about this tourist attraction. On the one hand, it's well maintained and the guides are friendly and experienced. I felt really safe in their hands. on the other hand the experience was really underwhelming- it was awesome when they lowered us down into the cave (so exciting!), then we had to wait 30 minutes for them to lower everyone (boring). Then only the trek into the cave could begin. The trek in was about 15 minutes. The "heaven's light" experience was cool but it wears off after 10 minutes of intense photo taking. We wanted to leave but were told we had to stay in the cave for another 45 minutes because "that's how long the tour lasts" (boring!). Then when we got out, it took another 45 minutes to hoist everyone back out the cave (so so boring). In conclusion, I felt like the drive and the waiting time made up 90% of this entire experience. It should have been better organized to allow batches of people in and out of the cave, instead of doing every step as a big giant group.

It’s privately owned, but very well organised, and I can see that the team has safety at priority too, and equipments r good. So well worth the price for this! Very interesting and unique cave. Was able to capture the splattering sunlight.

Ray of life (Jomblang cave ) is a superb extreme adventurous tourist attraction but too much expensive. You can experience the ray of light only once a day so be there before 9:20am. I would recommend booking tickets online via WhatsApp before visiting as the limit is 85 pax.
Price is 500K IDR per pax ( adults/kids) inclusive of lunch , boots , safety equipment. They provide vegetarian food as well ( without egg ), you have to inform them before heading towards the cave.

The cave the magnificent. It is not that long, but because everyone wants to take pictures from the same spots, it takes about 2 hours. The wait to go down and to be brought up is long also.
My driver tried to book a place for me but never got an answer, so I had to get on the cancelation list and waited 1.5 hours. I was there from 9am to 2pm. The team is lovely and friendly and try hard to please everyone. You get lunch on the way out, no choice on lunch, its chicken with rice and spicy veg, and water.
500,000 I think is over priced, probably because it's on private land, not government owned.

Nothing to shout about. I think this is really based on personal preference. I only liked the part where we were hung down. The cave itself, not so much. It was very muddy, slippery and the "light" was very much luck-dependent. The worker there were very friendly though. Spent a lot of time waiting from arriving, waiting to get shoes, waiting for the briefing, waiting for our "team" turn to go down - understandable as they can only bring 2 person down each time and it was all manual. Lunch was provided after that but it was pretty dry. It gets better as you continue eating though. They do sell you photos after too.

Jomblang Cave, uniquely amazing and adventure vertical cave. Best time visit morning before 10am, where you can witness a ray of illumination light shines into the cave before noon.

First of all, its not a recreation for family with kids (5 y.o below)
(in my opinion)
You will go to a vertical cave, around 1 km diameter and 60 meter below.
Provider do it very well and safe.
Check my photos for details safety equipment.
Then you will track through dark and muddy horizontal cave, around 300 m so you will see a hole, huge with beautiful heavenly light.
Bring flashlight would be much better.
Willy Singgih Chandrasasmita — Google review
It's not so much the size or the beauty of the cave that one should come here for, but rather the whole experience. If you like adventures and exploring natural structures in its original form, this is the thing for you. Firstly, you will wear wellington boots and safety harness, and be lowered down to the cave by local staff who took care of our safety. That is quite an exhilarating experience itself. Next, you will enter the cave in pitch darkness as there are no lights installed inside - a torchlight or phone torch will come in handy. Expect some exercise for the legs as you will wade through the thick and sticky mud. Be careful as it can be rather slippery.
Finally, the finale and highlight of the experience is seeing the light at the end of the tunnel - both literally and figuratively. The shaft of light ray shining into the cave really looks, as they say, heavenly. You will feel that way especially after the tiring and humid walk through the cave.
Then, you will walk back to where you were hoisted down and be pulled back up by 20 to 30 men, some I must say are in their late teens or 20s. Much respect to them for elevating us tourists up back up safely.
Tip: Bring old socks and disposable shower caps to wear. Also bring waterproof handphone covers if possible.

Forum Kampoeng Batik Laweyan is a group in Solo that promotes the famous local craft of batik-making. This historic area is known for its shops that produce brightly colored textiles with intricate designs.
One thing about traveling is experience the exotic culture of the places. I'm glad my indonesia best friend took me to the Batik house where I can get to see how each and every piece of Batik is done.
Batik is a method (originally used in Java) of producing colored designs on textiles by dyeing them, having first applied wax to the parts to be left undyed.. Here's a thing, to add different color a certain pattern need to be blocked by using bee wax. Basically the process is quite long and requires tentative patience. And of course the result turns out pretty well and the costs also high as well.
And the tiny thing I hold is the baby Batik, I guess.
And also, I got to taste the Sasarparilla drink, my mum and I favourite drink of all time. The drink is produced in yogyakarta
Turns out it's a traditional drink in Java, usually used by royal family.

Visited this place by car and there is a little confusion since there are many unofficial guides tried to lure us to visit a certain batik store. Parking is limited. The batik price and collections is okay.
Tri Adinugroho — Google review
Interesting area housing many batik shops/workshops. Batik ranges from cheap traditional print method up to hand drawn premium batik. Some batik pattern is very old and not often produced nowadays. Park your car and explore on foot. Many local cum guide will offer to bring you around for a small fee/tip. They come useful in navigating small alley way. Those looking for super premium batik should try Goh Tik Swan or Danar. Parking space is very limited.

The House of Danar Hadi in Solo, Indonesia is a world-renowned museum that showcases the history and process of making batik fabrics. The museum has an impressive collection handpicked from the owner's private collection consisting of 1078 pieces out of 11,000 displayed in 11 rooms. The guided tour covers antique and royal pieces on display with a live-action demonstration included. There's also a shop available for textile purchases at the museum, which is housed in a grand colonial building.
Went there on the weekdays. The museum is a private museum and there's about 1.500 batik on display although they have about 10.000 collections. We spend around 1 hour with Zubair as our tour guide, and he's very helpful and passionate while explaining all the history of Batik, coming out there with a whole new information about Batik and it's philosophy. We can't take a picture in the museum, but at the end of our tour, there's a place where we can take our picture, and Zubair helps take the picture. All in all, it is totally worth the price and experience

Great tour of batik collection. The collection is displayed behind the shop, you buy an entrance ticket which is actually a guided tour. The guide in English is really informative, any questions would be answered. One star minus because you can’t go back after finishing the tour. You can’t see all the details.

We had an amazing private tour with Mutiara which set the tone for our whole day of exploring Solo. She struck the perfect balance of thoroughly explaining the history, cultural importance, and process of batik and answered our many questions perfectly. Her explanations enriched the rest of our travels through Indonesia as we noticed motifs, details, and stylings she had taught us about and could now understand them.

The place is neat, clean, and has quite a nice layout. The main building looks cool although maintenance in the museum could be improved. The guide (forgot his name) gave us tons of knowledge about batik. For a private museum, it has whopping number of batik collections that were mostly in excellent condition despite being 100+ years old. Definitely one of a few decent places to visit in Solo.

Great information about the start of batik and its history, types of batik, the whole process of making batik from start to finish. This is a private collection but the english guide provided all details and our questions were all answered. You can also buy readymade batik shirts and other products or you can buy material and have it made to your fit. Only downside is you may not take pictures or videos. The tour took little over an hour. Time well spent

Okay---look. This is an amazing museum AND an unforgettable experience. Even though visitors are not allowed to take photos (which is entirely fair for a private museum), the guide's knowledge, the stupendous collection of every kinds of batik (I was most impressed with the Batik Peranakan and Batik Keraton Yogya) and the general atmosphere of the building more than make it up.
Definitely a must-visit place if you come to Solo, whether or not you like museums. Really.

My favourite batik museum in Indonesia. The privately-owned House of Danar Hadi offers a big, well-curated and well-maintained collection, tucked inside a namesake shop. A tour guide is included in the entrance fee.

Amazing tour of the batik museum / collection! 🤎🤎🤎 Very reasonably priced at Rp. 35k for adults and 15k for local students. I went alone and my guide Yori (if I remember his name correctly) was great!! He was very informative but also warm, personable, and funny. Thanks again :)
- Timing 🕰️: The tour usually takes 45 mins to 1 hour, but mine took 1 and a half cause I asked heaps of questions 😅 So it depends on how curious you are! :)
- Accessibility ⚠️♿️: There’s around 10 rooms (from memory) and no seating area so I would recommend this able-bodied people that can stand for long periods of time. Unfortunately, most of the batik pieces are on low platforms so you have to crouch, squat, or bend over to view them which hurt :(( There’s a few steps of stairs to get to each room. You also cannot drink or eat inside so I got a little thirsty and pusing at the end :( The toilets are also a little far from the museum section.
- Service: Tour guide was amazing!! But cashier ladies were a little rude lol, didn’t really smile and had no patience for my broken Indonesian 😭😭
TLDR great tour with a little accessibility issues and some minor service hiccups at the start

Surakarta Hadiningrat Palace is a significant historical site in Central Java, Indonesia. Built in 1744, this grand palace showcases Indonesian architectural style and houses numerous artifacts such as sculptures and weapons. Visitors can take tours of the museum to explore its rich history. The unique main gate and antique view deck add to the beauty of this landmark. However, it requires some effort to visit as the road is narrow and ticket prices are approximately 15,000 IDR.
Nice place. Especially while you love Indonesian palace style. It’s just too dusty. Please clean it well. Ticket price is about 15.000 IDR while I visited. To visit here, really a lil bit difficult and the road is not that spacious. The local are nice people.

We visited the Keraton in a weekday morning, so it's rather quiet and enjoyable. We asked for Guide, and thanks to pak Kardi and Vero who shared so many stories about life in a Keraton. Unfortunately, during pandemic we could only visit the east wing (museum), and not allowed to visit the courtyard and its famous tower. Would give 5-star if we could visit the courtyard!
Buy your ticket at the museum, at the east corner of the palace. You can park car in front of the main palace gate, just to the south from Alun-alun Utara, or in the alun-alun if it's full and walk a bit. There're e-scooters for rental too! Entrance is 15k/person and guide fee is 70k. You can browse the museum yourself, but the Guide can make your visit more lively. Please wear trousers or long skirts, not shorts.

This palace is a heritage building that is a go to place if you ever visited Solo. Filled with so many historical stories and memorabilia. I suggest that you hire a guide to tell you some
of the most interesting stories there. There's this part where you'll be entering the Kori Kamandungan door and you need to take off your sandals, so I advise you to use shoes when coming here so you don't have to take them off🤣. Just like any other museum in Indonesia, the stuff displays here need a bit of cleaning for our viewing pleasure. Overall it's an interesting place!

Need a lot of touch-ups and big renovations, lots of defects, and seemed like none care of the old heritage conditions. On the other hand, the entrance fee is 25k/pax and 80k for personal guide. Looking at the environment, it is really recommended to get better perspective in terms of putting high amount with the service amd scenery we get.
The diorama have to complete with signage with short story with years, this help people who read it get to know better and educate, then by listening the guide explained and at the same time the signage helps to be readed for information.

The Sukuh Temple is a Hindu temple complex located on a plain in Solo, Indonesia. It consists of a pyramid and several statues, and is believed to have been dedicated to birth and new life. The site offers fantastic views of the surrounding landscape, including Gunung Lawu mountain. The temple is decorated with fascinating reliefs and Barong statues that depict erotic scenes related to fertility cults that were practiced here.
This candi is the type of female candi and the other one (candi cetho) is the type of male candi. Inside candi sukuh there is a yoni statue. Yoni is the symbol for female genitalia, hence the female candi type

This is my first to visit this temple, my first impression is.. wow.. Clean, tidy well manage the landscaping.
Be carefull on stepping up through the stone, especially to the top of main statue.
Every layer of the landscape must’ve had specific meaning and layer to layer are connected by the stone steps.
On the last statu altar you will found stone ornament with a good craftmenship and a hindu life phylosophy meaning.
Go up top and see the sorrounding of the temple. To my impression, I am feeling nice by being above of everything down below.. you know .. kind of..
Dont beleive it ... have a try by yourself.. enjoy guys 😀

I wonder what the real history is behind this ancient building. Similarity in shapes with the Mayan temples is too obvious. I personally think the reconstruction of the temple was too rushed, the story on the stone relief looks disjointed, some statues looked randomly placed. Sayang banget!

Similar in appearance to the Arc de Triomphe, Simpang Lima Gumul is a renowned landmark in Kediri that serves as a bustling gathering point for cultural events. Additionally, it boasts great photo opportunities and can accommodate large crowds without feeling overcrowded, making it an excellent place to spend evenings or nights out.

One of the few tourist destinations in Kediri. There are two spots mostly visited in the site: the Champs-Elysées look-alike monument, namely the Gumul Monument, and the Gumul Park right across.
The central spot, the Gumul Monument, has underground walkways connected to the four outskirts. However, only one walkway opened when I visited, the one from the parking spot and Gumul Park.
Gumul Park is basically a portable amusement park with knock-down rides, food stalls, and souvenir kiosks.

This the iconic place i’ve been visit on kediri. But hopefully have a good lighting around that place.

The landmark in Kediri is absolutely a place to vista during weekend nights. There are plenty vendors and kids Disney land around. Most shops closed at 10pm.

An iconic landmark of Kediri with a design similar to the Arch de Triomphe in France. At night you can find lots of street food around.

I'm going to review an iconic place in Kediri. Simpang Lima Gumul Kediri is a monument similar to the Arc de Triomphe of Paris, France. Simpang Lima Gumul has many parks suitable for children. It has an underground tunnel that becomes access to the monument, along the underground tunnel there are paintings about the diversity that exists in Kediri. Besides that, it has a large parking area, a nice and neat and safe arrangement. At Simpang Lima Gumul there are many street foods at low prices, scooter rentals and even some delman. In the monument itself there is a library, information center, toilets and elevator (not open to the public). With so many existing facilities, the Simpang Lima Gumul Kediri has drawbacks, namely there are no trash cans on street corners, clean but smelly toilets, and lots of swallow droppings on the monument, even the smell of horse urine disturbs visitors.

The place is beautiful. First time you entered, there is an office where you need to report yourself first. Once you're done you can go down the stairs and find the library on the left side while museum on the other side. Same like the entrance, you need to fill up your details first then you are free to roam around in the library. Atmosphere is super relaxing and peaceful. Clean and not smelly. AC and Wifi are there but wifi is slow in my opinion. Anyways, this is a good place where you can get a amazing view, peace, and knowledge at the same place and time.

VERY COOL, ONE OF A KIND MUSEUM IN INDONESIA!
Museum Angkut in Batu, Indonesia, is an extraordinary and unique destination that offers a multifaceted experience combining art, culture, and transportation.
Upon entering the museum, you're immediately captivated by the detailed replicas of various types of vehicles from different historical periods, including vintage cars, trains, airplanes, and even ships. Everything is displayed with meticulous attention to detail and beautifully arranged, making you feel like you're stepping into a time warp.
The museum is incredibly educational for both children and adults. You'll learn a lot about the history of transportation and various cultures from around the world. Museum Angkut also boasts a fantastic children's play area, making it a family-friendly destination.
However, it can get quite crowded, especially on holidays and weekends, so it's better to visit on quieter days for a more serene experience. The admission fee is reasonable, and you'll get a truly worthwhile experience in return.
Overall, Museum Angkut is an incredible place to explore. It seamlessly combines entertainment, education, and cultural experiences into one amazing package. It comes highly recommended when you're in Batu, East Java.
Anthony Wibowo — Google review
Museum Angkut in Batu is more than a museum; it's a sprawling journey through transportation history and global culture. With over 300 vehicles, from horse-drawn carriages to airplanes, it showcases the evolution of travel. Explore recreated areas like a Dutch village with vintage cars, or snap a pic next to the Eiffel Tower replica! Don't miss the interactive zones where you can climb aboard some exhibits. Though extensive (plan a half day!), the diverse exhibits, photo ops, and reasonable price make it a must-visit for Batu travelers, especially for those with camera in hand!

This is a fantastic museum, the entrance fee (Rp 100.000) is worthed. Hundreds of vehicles, (motor) bikes, tens of themes, professional and super friendly staff. Facilities are terrific, food stalls, toilets, and prayer rooms. Highly recommended.

One of the spot that you have to visit when you are having holidays at Malang or Batu , especially if you like cars and photography.
The whole place are filled with classic old replica of cars from Mercedes, Fiat, Citroen and even BMW old motorbikes.
There are a lot of themes, and each themes gives different vibes so you can basically take pics on every themes.
Entrance ticket priced at IDR 110.000 ( you get 10.000 voucher for food on the specific area only ).
Overall, great place surrounded with amazing views everywhere. ⭐️⭐️⭐️

A must visit museum in Batu Malang. It looks big from the outside, but it is super huge inside. Beside the museum-like appearance, they also offer plenty of instagramable themes and spots. Most vehicles available here are from bicycles, motorcycles, cars, trains, planes, ships, and camel. 😁😁
Aganto Seno — Google review
I love the place, its really worthed the price. The entrance ticket is IDR 120K. Thats extremely cheap if you value that for all the excitement you get. There are 8 zones here and full of excitement and attraction.
First you will go to Main Hall Zone or Vehicle Museum on the 1st floor. It contains many history of vehicles such as the first bicycle, the first car, the first racing car and first motor bike. They have driving simulation too and mixing car parts. I really amazed because they have absolutely stunning collections of historical and cultural cars.
You can choose to use stairs or lifts to go to 2nd floor. Here is the Education Zone. You can see the historical public transportation like a pedicabs, trolleys, chariots, charriages, horses, carts, wagons, trains and many more. At the edge they have formula 1 Ferrari section with driving simulator too.
While the 3rd floor can be guarantee is a nice experience since you will be leading and guiding to see and feel the presidential plane of Indonesia. You can also stop by to buy merchandise and toys here. The have flight simulator too and wind simulator with a decent price. They have playing ground between the 2nd and the 3rd floor with air themed.
Next you will enter the Sunda Kelapa Zone (Jakarta Batavia in colonial age). Here you will get vintage vehicles and the presence of what it might goes to live during that time. There are carts, wagons, early trucks and early cars.
Soon enough you will entry the gangster town and Broadway street. Here is the main attraction, started in 4pm you can see the stunning performance of professional called Man on Fire using MGA 1500,Datsun 280Z, Pontiac GTO and Stingray. Dang they will amazed you with their 360 degress spinning. One of the stunt even using smoking fire cracker while getting out of car and stand in the car while the car is still running. I will give this 96 out of 100. What a performance. If you lucky enough you can be picked by the stunt drivers.
Next is Hollywood zone, here you can be seeing vintage and cultural cars in many big movies. At the 5.30 pm they will have the parade and the dancing performance while using superheroes costumes. They also have the replica of Batmobile and Scobby Doo Van.
European Zone will come next with many photo spots. I have to admitted that this miniature of Europe is really well designed. The Big Companies from Italy, Germany, France and British all here. I wonder how can they get all this cars. Many of the vintage cars is limited and only been build very few like the french presidential car, the Queen Victoria cars and many more.
The Las Vegas zone is not that good only the exceptional H2 Long Limousine Hummer. They put the lights on the cars so you can clearly see how it looks. The zone also connect to flight simulator and flight practice.
Last but not least you will have Pasar Apung to rest your leg and grabbing some snack and have a bite of traditional foods here. There are also merchandise and souviner here.
You need to bring bottle of water and snack with you cause of the long road, and using comfort shoes or sneakers will also help.
Overall is 92 out of 100. I strongly recommended that you visit this place if you stop by Malang. Regards.

Many photo spots but not so many interactive activities. I'd like to get a ride on that military vehicle though. They have huge collections of cars, every kind of transportation. There's a lot of people who will guide & accompany you in every corner. Impressive, worth the entrance fee

Big place and so many spots to take pictures. The night event when all people were dancing together was so fun! One thing tho, I wish there's some kind of shortcut to exit the place, it took us way too long to exit following the normal route, we had a long day already, but other than that it was good. The food also good, I love the tofu!

an okay place to take pictures of. if you come at round 15.00 you can watch an attraction show in one particular area. the show was cool though; car drifting. there's a floating market too and you can rent a boat too.

I give my conclusion first, it is a museum which you won’t regret visiting.
The area is so large, it is divided into several sections, a main building with three floors, the first floor exhibits some automobiles, bicycles, motorbikes, helicopters from some decades ago, the second floor displays the model of vessels in several centuries ago, as well as carriages, and the main objects on the third floor are models of airplanes.
From the second floor, you may use the stairs to go to a platform, where can see the mountains and the national flag of Indonesia.
Besides the main building, there are several foreign culture display sections, one is the US and the other is Europe, my favorite one is the UK part.
At 4.30pm, a car and costume parade will be performed.
You can also find some food stalls, they are operated above a small river, it is called “water market”, ducks are swimming in the river.
The staff are really friendly and helpful, they are ready to provide help, when I planned to go back to the hotel I stay in Malang, it was raining heavily, one young fellow standing in the heavy rain helped me guide the driver to pick me up, I highly appreciate his kindness.
The price of the ticket is Rp 120k, if buy from app, it is Rp 113k, it is worth every penny, and you will get a voucher can be used as Rp 7.5k when buying food there.

Very nice complex of exhibitions mainly related to automobiles but also to different kind of transport modes. The collection is pretty amazing.
Has also driving skills shows outside. It attracts the public's curiosity for sure. Also, some differents aditionals modules are available, some of them can be done at extra fees.
Definitely an interesting regional attraction if you are interested in automotive and if you are in Malang. The kids will love it!

Museum Satwa is a museum with exhibits of animals that have been wetted down and also fossils from prehistoric animals brought from various parts of the world. If you are satisfied seeing wet specimens, you can see live animals in the Secret Zoo at Jatim Park 2.
Visit here during fast month, which you could guess that little visitor comes by, we had exciting moment during our trip, the secret zoo is one of the best attraction on Jatim park 2, even better than Singapore zoo in my opinion, the museum satwa as well, really enjoy during our visit.. bring your family, or your friends, I guarantee you will have fun and pleasure visit

Very large and full of things to see. Spent 7 hours and still only managed to experience 90% of the zoo and museum, didn't get to try Eco Green park or the petting zoo despite those being included with the ticket (140.000 Rupiah, well worth it). Recommended to arrive at the opening hours.
Wheelchair accessible. Not really wheelchair friendly. Lots of inclination, 8+ hours of pushing wheelchair was tiring. Electronic bike only available 1/4 way in (and the rent is 140.000/3 hours). Wheelchair available to borrow from the entrance.

Batu Night Spectacular is a tourist attraction in Batu Malang that features many exciting rides, live shows, carnival games, and a market. It is open from 3pm to midnight. The attractions include Cinema 4D, haunted houses, lampion gardens, waterslides and also a kids' zone with many photo opportunities.
Honestly didn't expect this place to be this awesome.
I thought it's just a regular pasar malam with an unlimited pass. But no, it's got VR experience and all the techy rides, and all the (literally) breathtaking rides!
We weren't able to ride all since it was raining at night for a few consecutive nights. So make sure to go there when it opens in the afternoon and ride all the open air rides first and when it rains, you could enjoy all the indoor rides.
Also, so many gift shops when we're about to exit the BNS and the price was 👌.

Lots of choice, many people.
Felt a bit crowded and some of the facilities are a bit old but good way to stay entertained for a few hours.
We got the “all pass” for 120k and gets you into all rides (once) and attractions.
I think the Lampion garden was also our favorite.

BNS is a nice place for kids around the age of 8 - 18. Mainly a lot of attractions as bumpercar, ghost house, ect. Recommended visit in the night, for a nice view at Batu. But if you come in the night it can be very busy especially around the holidays.
Marinus Vincent van Daelen — Google review
The missing 2 stars is because some of the rides are not there anymore, I think I didn't see any new rides, some rides and many shops are closed. I don't know about the night lantern garden, but the others remain the same like years ago.

Going on rides at night time in Batu cannot be missed at Batu Night Spectacular. The area has a 4D cinema, lampion garden and fountain attractions. Not to mention some rides that pump up your happy hormone and create excitement within each member of the family. Make sure you come to visit this fun outdoor vendor under starry night.

Exploring Batu Night Spectacular feels like stepping into a fancier version of a Pasar Malam, leaving me with mixed emotions.
[++] The array of games and rides caters to adults, providing an ample dose of fun.
[-] However, concerns about safety linger, partly due to the casual approach of the staff in operating the attractions and, perhaps, the quality of safety equipment like belts.
[-] Despite these reservations, the overall experience has been enjoyable. An improvement suggestion would be more facilities for hand hygiene, perhaps additional handwashing stations or strategically placed hand sanitizer spots.
[++] The park offers a diverse range of attractions, from adrenaline-pumping rides to spine-chilling horror houses and laid-back carousels. Yet, the real standout is the night view and ambiance, setting it apart from other parks that are predominantly indoor or operate during the day. 🎡🌙
In essence, Batu Night Spectacular presents a unique blend of amusement and nighttime charm, making it a distinctive destination for those seeking a different kind of park experience.

Some time ago during my semester holiday with my older sister and younger cousin I went to BNS. It's cold and very comfortable there. with an entrance ticket price of IDR 125.000,00 you can enjoy all the rides There are so many rides. maybe more than 35 rides. Even though there are rides that trigger adrenaline, these rides still have high safety. Not only rides but there are also lots of good photo spots. The view is also very nice at night. Don't forget the many food stands and souvenirs that you can try and visit. Perfect place for a vacation with your beloved family.

The lampion park is the good part of it but mostly the lampions look pretty old and dirty. I recommend you to buy full tickets to experience all attractions but for me this place is nothing more like a night Market.

For spending some fun time with family and friends, this a goodplace to enjoy the night (as long as the weather is friendly). There are some amusement rides like 4D, Gokart, sky ride, flying swing, trampolin, merry go round, and many more. For the ones who like to walk there are lampion garden, trick art, witch castle, hunting ghost, rumah hantu, etc. Amusement for all age...

Beautiful lantern garden inside BNS. It's better to be here around 6 PM. This was my second time here; previously, it was about 5 years ago, and I didn't see the lantern garden.
Do not expect delicious food or fancy drinks here. It can get quite crowded on weekends, and the park also has a lot of rides to enjoy.

Awesome place, located in Batu, Malang, East Java. About 20 minutes from Malang city, This place is so great to visit with your friends and also with your family, it opens at night so we can see the amazing lights show in this place. It also offers many attractions to see and to play with.

Unique rides, though very nausea-inducing. It's a great fair to visit at night as in the name it shines brighter at night. Place can get pretty crowded during the weekends and public holidays.

Unexpectedly had fun here! Came by here not expecting much amd thinking it would be jist a kids' carnival but some of the rides were quite adrenaline-inducing like the spinning Viking! We also did Go-Kart for additional 60k for 3 laps. 40k ticket for entrance with 3 free attractions (a bit lame), 120k ticket for a range of rides, with other rides like VR available ala carte.
Very empty when we came here on Sat night so there was no wait at all.

As the name suggests this amusement park is better to visit at night time/sunset. The festive light display on the street and entering the park is very inviting. BNS is a perfect place for young people looking for fun and exciting rides.

We went here at year end, of course, it's crowd till we couldn't enter from the main entrance because the parking is full. So we redirected to the entrance 2. There are so many rides we could find here. But there is limitation age restriction that only 12+ children allowed to ride. It needs 120k if you wanna play all of the rides. And only 50k if you're just wanna sightseeing.

Sprawling, drive-through park with many wild animals at close range, plus shows & rides.
It was my fabulous first time to be here.
It would be suitable for family leisure.
Price is affordable and the animals collection are complete.
You could even see them from the near distance just bordered by your car glass.
More over you could also enjoy the amusement park.
I suggest you to visit on the weekend because the attraction is more various than weekdays.

Big safari amusement park. If you go there by car, you can have a better experience like feeding directly animals. Monkeys are little bit scary, though. People sell vegetables and bananas before the entrance.
You can get something to eat or drink inside, but better bring your own, esp water.
Dolphin show is famous. Don't miss it.
There is an area of ancient Southeast Asian civilization. It was fun for me.

It was fun experience!
You have to be in a car or a bus for safety. But if you come by motorcycle, you can ride safari car/safari bus provided by the place.
Here, you can see many wild, cute, rare animals, and you can even feed them. Be careful in the carnivore area!
Besides, you can also enjoy their amusement park that is free (ticket included). If you are hungry, there is a restaurant and small shops available aswell.
The thing that makes this place lose 1 star because the cost of feeding elephant and giraffe are too pricey (we already bought a ticket tho) I mean if you want to charge us, please make it less than that.
Anyway overall this place is such a good place for family trip or even couple trip.

I’ve got the best me time in my life while at the Safari Adventure and Baby Zoo. The Grand Taman Safari Prigen truly elevates the experience by providing habitat-like exhibits, making it feels deeply connected with nature.
The staffs are friendly,
The shows are informative and entertaining,
The paid feeding sessions are worth the experience.
My top picks:
1. Kangaroo feeding (Nadine the grey kangaroo surely loves to eat!)
2. Penguin feeding
3. African zone in the Safari Adventure
Thank you, The Grand Taman Safari Prigen!

T'was my first time taking a trip specially for my son, and boy did he enjoyed the heck of it 😄
We get to experience actual wild animals up close n personal from the comfort of our car (excluding the carnivores of course😅).
All of the animals mentioned in the map were present and accounted for 👍🏻
Definitely can't wait to go back and experience it again n again n again, per my son's request 💪🏻

Clean place, ticket entrance is worth the facility. And when you go home, you can see circus with low price but marvelous attraction. Recommended place for family who bring children.
Denny Ds — Google review
The place gets four stars, but with confusing and inconsistent information so I'm deducting one star. The place is decently maintained. It's not as clean or posh as Bali Safari, but then again it's much much bigger so I can understand the challenge. There's LOTS of restaurants with okay (touristy) prices. What's most disappointing is the (lack of) information. The map is out of date: some animals are not where the map says they would be. Both the website and the pamphlet contain wrong information about the show times. The only info you can rely on is the information on the actual stage, which you have to actually physically go to. So it's impossible to plan ahead and creates a logistical nightmare (especially if you bring children!) and we ended up watching only two shows that we luckily stumbled upon at the right time. Animal feeding time is also unreliable. One of the employees told us "the ABC feeding time is XYZ but that's not certain, it depends on when the animal handler gets here." Definitely not world class management there!

Taman Safari 2 Prigen is a haven of natural beauty and wildlife wonders. From the moment I entered, I was captivated by the lush landscapes and the promise of encountering exotic animals up close.
The safari journey was a truly immersive experience. Driving through habitats that mimic the animals' natural environments made it feel like I was on a real-life safari. The excitement of seeing lions, elephants, and giraffes in such proximity was truly exhilarating.
But Taman Safari 2 Prigen offers more than just a safari. The animal shows and performances were a highlight. From the majestic bird displays to the entertaining elephant performances, each show left me in awe of the incredible talents of these animals.
The commitment to conservation and education is evident throughout the park. The informative signs and knowledgeable guides provide insights into the animals' behaviors, habitats, and the importance of preserving their species.
The park's dedication to animal welfare is also commendable. The spacious enclosures and well-maintained habitats ensure that the animals are well cared for and able to exhibit natural behaviors.
In conclusion, Taman Safari 2 Prigen is more than an attraction; it's an adventure that educates, entertains, and inspires. Whether you're a nature lover, a wildlife enthusiast, or simply looking for a memorable day out, this place has it all. My visit to Taman Safari 2 Prigen was an unforgettable journey into the world of animals and conservation. I highly recommend it to individuals and families alike. Prepare to be amazed and leave with a deeper appreciation for the wonders of the animal kingdom!

Generally worth a visit, even thought the place is slightly over an hour's drive from the city. Some of the positives:
+ Interesting drive-through experience
+ Plenty to see and experience - just about enough for a full-day visit
+ Other activities available in addition to seeing the animals
+ Good variety of shows and performances
+ Animals generally look well taken care of
+ Friendly staff
We did however encounter some issues with language as foreign visitors though, as some of the staff members could only communicate in Bahasa. The shows and performances were also all done in Bahasa, and that was largely the main and only drawback we encountered.

A great place to spend time with the family. The kids enjoyed the Safari and the interaction with the animals. But importantly learn about the animals. I wished there was a bit more information provided.
It does get quite humid in the day, so best to come early in the morning. Also after midday, there are a lot of people and it might not be very comfortable.
Compared to Taman Safari Park I in Bogor, I like this one much more because you get to have more interaction with the animals.
My only disappointment was that some animals look quite skinny. Particularly the monkeys. Not sure if they're sick or not eating enough.

Good leisure resort with the kids. Very quiet environment especially night time.. conducive for mental relaxation. Morning there is a program to feed the animals at a fee. There is a trip around the park to watch all the animals available in the safari. You may buy animal feed (vegetables) to feed herbivores such as giraffe, camels, deers, llamas, zebras, even monkeys. Good for experience!

Indonesia Safari Park II Prigen is a fantastic place for animal lovers! 🦁🐘 It's located in Prigen, East Java, and is the largest safari park in Asia.
The park is home to a wide variety of animals from all around the world, including lions, tigers, giraffes, zebras, and many more. What's really cool is that the animals are allowed to roam freely in large enclosures that mimic their natural habitats, while visitors tour the park in vehicles. It's like a real-life safari adventure! 🚙🦓
In addition to the safari tour, the park also offers other attractions. There's a baby zoo where you can see and interact with adorable baby animals, a water park to cool off in, and even an amusement park with rides for all ages. 🎠🎡
The park is also involved in conservation efforts and has programs for breeding endangered species. It's not just a fun place to visit, but also plays an important role in protecting wildlife. 🌍💚

We had a great time at Baobab Safari Resort. The staff are all "on the ball". Their services is tip top right from the very first greetings to the last bid of goodbye. The dinner is great with variety of food to choose from, even to the aunthentic local food was served. While waiting for the dinner to start, we got the chance to feed the giraffes. We bought into the package that gave us access to Taman Safari Indonesia 2 which was so worth it. The experience we had cant compare to the price - we booked 3 rooms and the room we had is enough for my wife and I and our 3 years old daughter. Upon entering the lobby you'll already get to see giraffes, zebras, ostrichs, meerkats, a thriving koi fish pond and other African animals. Best part is all the animals look well taken care of as compare in the wildlife (from animal planet) haha. The staff were extremely friendly and accommodating for our needs travelling with a little human and the rest of our family member of 4. Breakfast buffet is exceptional with loads of local fare that were delicious and we had chance to savour in all the food they serves. Only that maybe the desserts can be improved. Exceptionally among the dessert the "Tapai" and "Pisang" jemput-jemput is awesome! super delicious 10/10 would recommend a family stay here and will definitely come back here again.

Galeri Paviliun House Of Sampoerna is a preserved historical site in old Surabaya, built in 1862 and once used as an orphanage. Purchased by the founder of Sampoerna in 1932, it became the company's first major cigarette production facility. The compound includes a central auditorium, smaller buildings, and open-space structures.

Again, House Of Sampoerna (HOS) held an exhibition of paintings by East Java artists, with the tagline "Equilibrium" which means balance. Exhibition of 25 works by 4 artists at the same time, including Agus Salim, Catur Hengki Koeswoyo, Edie Supriyanto and Zainul Qusta. Their works were launched on Wednesday (16/1/19), at the HOS Pavilion gallery, Jl Taman Sampoerna 6 Surabaya.
Of the four painters shown, they have their own characteristics in etching canvases, such as Catur Hengki Koeworo trying to capture the social phenomena that occur in Indonesia with his characteristic wayang ornaments and classic car parts. It's different from Agus Salim, painting has a meeting point between humans and nature, Zainul Qusta is more towards the abstract which visualizes formless forms with ambiguous language and it's another thing for Edie Supriyanto who wraps Indonesia with a unique philosophy.
"The purpose of this exhibition is non-commercial, HOS is a bridge for the works of East Javanese artists to be known by a wide audience. This is HOS' contribution since it was founded besides the existence of a Museum," explained Rani Anggraini-House Of Sampoerna Manager while inviting other artists to take part in the next exhibition. HOS conducts 12 exhibitions a year and is free for the general public.
To be able to exhibit their work at HOS, artists must go through curation by the HOS. "A painter's work that is displayed must have an educational aspect, not just displaying works and exploring cinematic ideas but being able to make visitors interpret the meaningful meaning in each of these thoughts," added Athian, curator of the Equilibrium exhibition.
This exhibition is open to the public from 18 January-9 February 2019 in the Pavilion gallery beside the HOS museum. There is no charge to see the work of the 4 East Javanese painters.

HOS gelar Pemeran Lukis Equilibrium Gratis

Humongous mall. Very impressive well maintained mall. Looks newly built even though it has been in existence for a while. Food court is massive with major world class food outlets all over the place. Traditional cuisines from other parts of the world are also available... Chinese, Japanese, Indonesian, Thai etc.
All major world class clothing shops are also well represented. There's a Sheraton hotel on the top floor as well as a cinema hall.

To be honest I must say big #shopping centres disappear in my homeland the #netherlands because of online shopping and less #socializing... But now I understand that in Asia like Indonesia 🇲🇨 it's better to be in than outside 🌞 overall, everything you can imagine is there..with sufficient personel on each departement but did nog saw much #security. At least 2 #foodcourts with big variety of small food and drinks stores... One Floor even a big #cinema with choice of 3 - 4 movies... Also one section specialised for Kids till 16-18 ages.. But for the #rollercoaster you need to go to the other Mall... 🤭 During #holidays also populair bij various #events.. Like live music.. #cosplay 3 stages high christmas tree 🎄

This is Tunjungan Plaza in Surabaya. This mall, which was first built in 1986 is currently the second biggest mall in Indonesia, (with Pakuwon Mall, also from Surabaya, as the number one). I was surprised at first that Jakarta's malls are not even on the top list.
Tunjungan plaza has 6 interconnecting areas (Tunjungan Plaza I-VI) with a total area around 150.000sqm. It has more than 600 tenants, and around 8 levels high.
To be honest, I used to be lost inside this mall 🤣, back then when there were just Tunjungan Plaza I-IV, so not as big as it is now. Very embarassing. But luckily I've lived in Surabaya long enough and went here often so it's not a problem anymore.

I'll never travel to Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park without this trip planner again
Located in the heart of Surabaya, Taman Bungkul is a popular green space with a skate park, play equipment, shade trees & food vendors. The revitalization of Taman Bungkul with sport, education and entertainment concepts has been augmented since March 21st 2007.
For now, the park is closed due to corona virus. Cheap food, there's a lot of street food. Parking lot for motorcycle is available.

Have a blast day at bungkul park where sunday is car free day. You can walk along the road and even at the middle of the road. There a lot of food stalls and other things there. One of the places you need to visit there.

Good place to bring your kids here. But the park is very dirty, there is so many thrash thrown away not in their place. Maybe if the local government give the strict rule for the people who litter there and clean the area, it will be perfect place for family to spend their time here just like before

One of the greatest parks to stroll around at night.
A lot of food vendors you could choose with some variants; martabak madura, popcorn with coconut, rangin, cotton candies, and even pizza.
Some pet communities also usually gather there and let people touch their pets.

This is a very well known park in Surabaya, even people from outside Surabaya knows a little about this park. The park is really green and beautiful because of many trees, that also make the air become cooler here. There are many areas for people to do skateboard, jogging, and many kind of sports. A playground for children also available here. It can be accessed easily because of being located near the city centre, and many public transportation through this place.

I dared to post photos from an off-the-beaten angles. I'm not sure why this park is popular after actually visiting here. Yeah, it's big and green. You can enjoy fresh air, however it's never a quiet place. It's surrounded by busy roads. Well, this is not a touristy spot from the beginning. By the way, it might be good for lunch since you can find an open-air food court(?) somewhere in this plot. Oasis for businesspeople.

I visited this place in the evening, around 6pm, lots of kids playing skateboard. In my opinion, the park encompasses of skateboard arena, playground, huge empty field (shown below for events) and lots of small vendors selling street food and children's toys. Was only here for a short time, so I couldn't tell much. The local snacks was pretty good and affordable.

Mt Bromo is a picturesque volcano located in the Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park. It can be accessed via Cemoro Lawang, a village that offers stunning views of the volcano. The journey to this destination can be long and grueling due to hours of ricefields, trucks and heavy traffic. To save time, it's recommended to hop on an organized tour from Yogyakarta that includes transport to Bromo, accommodation and onward transport to Bali.
very beautiful places to spend about with your beloved one or families. Don't go in here when the weather is bad (raining) because is so dangerous, especially when you use motorcycle.

Mount Bromo is famous for its magnificent sunrise views and view of volcano crater and arguably the most popular destination in East Java. The sea of clouds in the morning is undeniably beautiful and mystical. You need to prepare warm clothes when you see the sunrise as it can get very chilly in the morning. After seeing the sunrise from the sunrise viewpoint, you can explore the crater and whispering sands.
Griselda Merrie — Google review
Stunning sunrise and views out over Mount Bromo, followed by a hike and horse ride across the volcanic plains, up on to the crater rim. Totally unforgettable scenery.
Not the most scenic or fun climb or views down, across and out from the crater rim admittedly. But definitely well worth seeing and experiencing at least once.

A great place to visit. It looks like heaven, breath taking sunrise view, lot of trails for hiking, greenery and peace of mind. The view of the volcano crater at day light is mesmerizing.
Few things to keep in mind: Low oxygen at high altitude. Be extra careful about that. Tour begins at mid night around 3.00 am and touring of all the places are completed by 10 am. It is very cold there in the morning. Hiking to the crater is of moderate difficulty level, bring more water and protein bar. People are very friendly and not cunning, you can rely upon them for things.

We didn't sleep, left at midnight, we changed into the jeep until we reached the top of a street with many small shops and places to eat. Somewhat crowded with jeeps and people along the road ... The scenery is beautiful at dawn (it is also a bit cold ... better bring a jacket, gloves and hat). We took the jeep again (better take a photo of the plate .. they are all the same and it is easy to confuse them) ... then when we arrive near the volcano we start a long walk to get to the top ... all wonderful beautiful, breathtaking landscapes. There was also a minor earth quake when we were out there. After hiking and returning to the bottom I was enjoying a Bintang and we experienced the small rumbles. Experience of a lifetime.

This place was fantastic to visit. We read to avoid the sunrise tours as they can often be too busy, so we just made our own way there, and we’re glad we did. We passed by maybe 6/7 other people on our whole trip up the volcano. We also opted to walk from the village across the sea of sand, though we kind of wished we had gotten an atv as it rained on our way back, we enjoyed the hike and the views from both ends were spectacular, especially looking into the crater. Occasionally it can get a little heavy on the smoking, and the sulphur hurts to breathe so be mindful if you’re sensitive to that sort of thing, bring an inhaler if you ever use one maybe also, but otherwise it blows over as quickly as comes.
Anthony James — Google review
This could be the easiest mount to climb till the top, by the stairs. 😁😁
Before reaching the stairs, you need to walk about 1,5 kilometers, or you can rent horses from the Jeep parking area. People usually take this spot right after seeking sunrise at Penanjakan or Love Hill.

A must-visit place when you're in Malang. Mount Bromo offers beautiful views of the active volcano with a sea of sand and stairs leading to its summit. This place is one of East Java Iconic Place, and it is very famous. This Bromo mountain can give you some story you can tell to your family. You can try to enjoy the sunrise from around 4 a.m, and the local people are so polite here. But you better bring your raincoat here, because the weather is unpredictable here. The view is beautiful but if you get cloudy or rainy weather well you'll have to try again tomorrow.
Overall the natural scenery is so beautiful.

If you are hiking, natural travel, outdoor activities lover and morning person, you may find this place look impressive. What to consider is First, you need to wake up so early to catch sunrise. Second, don’t afraid of the crowd. Third, don’t expect something perfect because local guide may not bring you close to the prime spot. The picturesque volcano and Mt. Bromo are unique and stunning. The total time is approximately from 4am-11am for the trip.

We came here as part of a tour for a sunrise tour. The place itself was filled with jeep cars and tourists which we felt might have ruined the experience because of it being so busy but we were so wrong. I cannot recommend this place enough, the colours of the sky changing behind bromo and the sunrise itself was so beautiful, we are very glad we did it. There is also so much space so even though it was busy everyone had their own space to watch this. Definitely cannot be missed if in Java.

The most stunning sunrise I've seen - definitely worth our long overnight journey!
You could hire a driver from Surabaya for your day-tour. Remember to bring enough windproof warm clothes! Our driver picked us up from our hotel in Surabaya at 23:30. It took us 2 hours to get to a place called Watulumpang, where we changed to a jeep for another 1.5-hour winding and bumpy journey to the Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park. There were many tourists going to the viewpoint on the "King Kong Hill" (our jeep driver said the movie King Kong was filmed there) for the sunrise, causing a traffic jam on the narrow road about 1 km away from the hill. We therefore took our driver's advice to go to the viewpoint on the Love Hill, which is slightly below the King Kong Hill viewpoint. Prepare to climb up some steps!
The crack of dawn was around 04:00 and sunrise was around 05:00 for us. The sea of clouds around Bromo bearing a golden lining from the sun is truly magnificent.
At around 06:00 we were taken down to the basin below the volcanos, which really looked like the surface of moon with its grey sandy ground. If you walk (instead of riding a hired horse) to Bromo as we did, it would take you 30-50 min to top the volcano, depending how fit you are. There are many steps to go up Bromo, so good exercise! The bonus is that you get a close-up view of Mount Batok, an inactive volcano next to Bromo, on the steps to Bromo. On top of Bromo, you could see and hear smoke and steam coming out of the volcano, which is breathtaking.
It was a physically challenging but well-worthy journey. Our jeep driver said Ijen was even better than Bromo, as you could see blue flame coming out of it, but it took 2 hours to top the volcano, so bear it in mind if you plan to visit it.

Very cool spot! The walk up was mild though hot, luckily there were plenty of food and drink venders near the parking area, as well as bathrooms. Though most guests didn’t wear them, I’d recommend bringing and wearing a suitable mask to protect against the volcanic ash that gets kicked up from people passing by on foot or on horses.

The sunrise over Bromo is truly a breathtaking spectacle. It ranks among the most beautiful things I've witnessed in Indonesia, and that's no small statement. My wife and I discovered a secluded spot below the King Kong viewpoint, avoiding the crowds that usually gather. This intimate experience made our encounter with the place even more special and unforgettable.

Beautiful mountain and volcano 🌋
It is an easy and short hike. You can also pay to ride a horse 3/4 the way.
However, as with the rest of Surabaya, there is quite a bit of litter (by humans) at the site.

I recommend coming here after 11-12 pm, because there are few people and tourists at this time, and the views are amazing. Be sure to rent a horse to climb the volcano, this is a special experience and emotion.

What a blast. This was the first of our volcano on our Indonesia trip and Bromo did not disappoint. Memories of the sunrise will last a lifetime and I keep thinking how fortunate I am to have seen it. The treat was not hard at all and I am 59 year old female who is reasonably fit and active. The sunrise took my breath away. Just do it and you won't regret it. I won't lie the last steps up to the crater was a killer but just take brakes when needed. I would not have missed it for the World

Stunning view of mighty mountain, broad savanna, and desert. Temperature is quite cold early in the morning (before sunrise, so bring some proper wear) and tolerable during the day.
Best time to visit (if you want to see clear sunrise) is during dry season in Indonesia (June to August, or something like that). During our visit this time we didn't see the sunrise because of the thick fog, but the savanna is lush during raining season.
Riding the jeep is also an unique experience.
Climbing the stairs to bromo crater is not for the faint hearted, so be prepared.

Magical place for the sunrise.
We left Cerawa Lawang around 3h30 and were the firsts to arrive on top (on foot).
All the people with tour guide get dropped off by the jeeps down the stairs around 5am.
But the night and foggy walk through the caldeira is really a mystical experience, I am glad I didn’t sleep through it in a bumpy and loud jeep.
We could see the whole cortège of jeeps heading towards King Kong hill and the viewpoints, glad that we had the beautiful sunrise to ourselves up here!

Mount Bromo is more 2300 meters above sea level, and is the only active volcano inside Tengger Caldera National Park. You will have to either walk or ride a horse from the car park across the sea of sand and then climb the over 200 steps to reach the top of Mount Bromo. Intriguing experience to see a live volcano spewing smoke at close proximity

Loved this place! The views here are 😍. At the morning ~7 am its very chilly and a bit foggy, but then at around 12 it gets to be very hot.
The activites here is that you can use a jeep to go around, ride horses, drink tea & coffee, and just relax.
The views here are amazing! But you do have to do alot of walking if u wanna take pictures 🤣🤣

I highly recommend coming here at sunrise!
You can walk all the way from Cemorolawang by entering the grounds of the Cedars Indah Hotel and keeping right, there is a small hidden dirt path. The locals will use it later to bring down their poor horses.
It will lead you into the National Park for free!
Follow the footprints, navigate with maps and you'll reach Mt. Bromo.
We were the first to arrive at 4:30 am. About 20 people joined us over the next 1.5 hours. We avoided the hundreds of tourists we saw on the way back from the viewpoints.
In my opinion, this is better than King Kong Hill or others, as it's more secluded and intimate to see our sunrise while standing next to this noisy volcano!
The view was amazing, the volcano was impressive and frightening. The photos are proof enough!

It’s amazing. If you stay near in Bromo, you can start at 2:30 and take a hot of coffee at the bottom of mountain. After that, you just need around 5 minutes walk to find the good view and wait for the sunrise. The mountain will appear time to time.
Then you can walk into the top of the volcano.
The landscape is really good.

Lots of opportunist vendors here trying to sell horse rides and snacks, but fortunately they aren't too persistent.

Madakaripura Waterfall is a stunning natural wonder located in Java, known for its towering height of 200 meters and cylindrical canyon. The waterfall cascades down the verdant walls of this canyon, creating rain-like streams that add to its ethereal beauty. Enclosed by high rock walls, the waterfall flows into a mystical natural chamber that has an incredible ecosystem due to the lush green damp moss on rocky walls with sunlight shining through them.

I went to this waterfall on my way to Surabaya from Mount Bromo after hiring a motorcycle taxi. It's a nice waterfall hidden upstream. When the weather is nice, it's such a wonderful place for photography. The hike along the entryway stream is enjoyable as you get to enjoy nature and observe various animals. Don't forget to take umbrellas or waterproof jacket or raincoat as you'll need while walking beneath the rock shelter with light waterfall from above. Alternatively you can also buy a plastic poncho at the base. Recommended not to wear shoes or high heels or sandals. Best would be slippers. You can have local snacks at the main entrance where you'll be paying the entrance fees as well.

One of highlights of our Indo trip. First you pay 15k IDR for motocycle ride (one way) to 1-2km away from waterfall (some drivers will try to scam you, confirm price before), guide is not needed but they know photo spots and some facts about place. Entrance ticket was 45k. Then its small walk to get to waterfall. Be sure to bring spare clothes, swimsuit or rain cover and flipflops because you will get wet. Its absolutely worth it.

YOU DO NOT NEED A GUIDE to get there!
There is a normal path that is easily accessible even on the bare feet.
The guide can show you good photo spots, but you can copy that from others or just check photos below. It is recommended to use the Panoramic photo (bottom-top).
* I would recommend flip-flops to walk in the water, but you can manage that by bare feet as well.
* You get wet - by walking literally under the waterfall, so take a rainy coat with you.
* If you go by scooter (recommended) you can pass car parking and park directly next to the entrance. If you go by car, you need to take scooter taxi - it is pretty far 😢
Prices: 45k for entrance (you should get a helmet for that). Free scooter parking.

Get there by taxi. The taxi has to stop in a parking and then you must take a scooter to the entrance of the natural area. The scooter is 30k return. The entrance fee for foreigners is 50k. Apparently there are a few scams in the area. You only have to pay once that is a the ticket office at the entry (after the scooter ride).
Once inside you'll be ask many times to have a guide. You don't really need one as the path is clear but the harassment can be tough.
In fact, at the end of the walk a local insisted in acting as a guide even if we insisted many times we didn't need one. So it can be a bit awkward. We end up paying him very little money what probably encourages this behaviour...
However, the scenery is amazing and the waterfall really worth it!

A waterfall not too far away from mt bromo, a well hidden waterfall with water from 100m from the top. You need to take a motor bike ride from parking to the entrance if you want to save some time, else it would be a 45min walk on a tar road leading to waterfall entrance. You need another 30min walk to the actual waterfall. It's a beautiful waterfall and water was ample and flowing from many entry points. The water current was mild and make it perfect for young children to fool around. There are several spots where waterfalling are stronger and will make it fun for teenagers and adults. Make sure you have a rain coat or jacket and be sure to get wet. That's where the fun is.

Visited this amazing waterfall after Mount Bromo tour. As mentioned by other reviews, it's necessary to take motorbike taxi or ojek from the parking to get to the entrance of the waterfall because the road is small not suitable for cars and the locals want to make a living. I paid a 'normal' price (30k) for ojek and didn't use a guide (100k) thanks to my driver and I can speak bahasa. It's easy get to the the waterfall by following the river upstream. Several guides tried to follow me but I kept saying no. The last part involves getting all wet and crossing the river. Therefore, it might be a good idea to get a guide because he can show you the path and which rock to step on. It's hard to figure it out when there are no other tourists. I didn't swim in the pool because I was told the risk of rock falling and the water is a bit cold. Madakaripura is the name of the commander who often mediate in this waterfall

You have to take a motorbike to the entrance of the waterfall. I took a local tour guide, under the advice of my main tour guide, but i believe that it is not really mandatory unless you want you are not fit enough like me.
The trail to the waterfall is very very easy. It gets tricky for a small part if you want to get closer to the pool. My guide held my hand very firmly because i was afraid to fall and thanks to him i made it to the top. He took great videos and pictures as well.
I advise taking flip flops. The merchants sells raincoat for 10K if you don't want your whole body to get wet because you will have to move under the waterfall for some parts of the trail.
The waterfall is beautiful and definitely worth the detour.

The tallest waterfall in Java Island, it is famous for its height at approximately 200 meters.
The route is a little bit slippery so you must be careful. Not too tiring since it only took me 30-40 minutes from the parking spot.
You could prepare a rain coat to protect your phone. Since there will be many water splashes nearby the waterfall.

BUY A PONCHO and the Aqua shoes!! It’s a dream if you do! Did this today - unless you are VERY proficient in flip flops they will fall off as you walk through the river bed and across the slippy sharp rocks. You will walk THROUGH the waterfall several times - My $100 raincoat did not cover my shorts like the cheap ponchos did 😂. We’re 14 countries into a world tour and this is EASILY one of the most amazing! HUGELY underrated place and so few tourists, and the moped journey here is absolutely worth it, easily comparable to the best Waterfalls in the world!
Get there before everyone finds out!

Beautiful waterfall, less known and smaller than Tumpak Sewu, often combined by tour operators that organise trips to Bromo because of its vicinity to it to the north, combines handily with tours operating out of Surabaya. The infrastructure is lacking, it can only be reached through motor bike riders from the entry gate, and then walking quite a bit. The bridges and roads towards it are kind-of maintained and not too shabby, although in some sections the road guards have fallen apart. At the waterfall itself prepare to be soaked from water above (poncho can help, but you’ll still get soaked). It’s also near inevitable you’ll wade through the river, so know your shoes will be soaked too. The rocks are slippery, no matter whether you use bare feet, slippers, or shoes. I found wading the river safer, even though you’ll soak your shoes. You can go close to the end of it this way. If you want it reach the final bit, you’ll need to climb over some rocks 4-5 meter high which isn’t all that safe for every age and skill group, but doable for many. Worth it if you have considered the above and know what you’re up against. Of course if you combine this with Bromo in one day, make sure you do Bromo first, and then this waterfall, otherwise you’ll have to do Bromo in completely wet clothes and soaked shoes.
