Ulu Cami is an ancient mosque that holds great historical significance and ought to be preserved and maintained. It serves as a reminder of the mighty Seljuks Empire, specifically during the Selcuk era. In order to keep it relevant to the younger generation, efforts should be made to ensure its daily use and engagement. A notable occurrence took place when I arrived before 10 am, as thankfully the imam appeared to open up this remarkable mosque.
Historical buildings ie Mosque that we should preserve & maintain. Also should be used on daily basis ie make it relevant to young generation. Reached there before 10am, alhamdulillah imam came to open this Mosque.

The restoration work has been very well done, just a few bits either left on purpose or still to be fixed. Lovely main dome and tiles. My only disappointment was the minbar. It looks plastic and the shiny black varnish was poorly chosen - it looks out of place.

Orduzu picnic area is a lush and verdant location, in stark contrast to the barren yellow mountains of Malatya. To reach it, one can take the trambus and disembark at either Mismis park or hazar kiz ogrenci yurdu before walking to Orduzu. The area boasts a beautiful lake surrounded by numerous camellias.
It is a perfectly green place compared to the barren yellow mountains of Malatya. You should use trambus and get off at the Mişmiş park or the hazar kız öğrenci yurdu and walk to Orduzu from there. There is a lush lake and many camellias. Nearby there is a zoo, a small amusement park and small water vehicles that you can walk on in the lake.

The country has historically served as a dwelling place for numerous civilizations. In the past, excavations extended over long periods of time. However, in recent years, there has been an increase in momentum. This museum showcases artifacts uncovered from various archaeological digs. Admission is currently free (as of September 2022) and visitors are provided with complimentary plastic shoe covers upon entry. The museum features wax sculptures that depict the traditional way of life in the Malatya region.
A great place to learn about Malatya's history. And as we visited with the old house owners we can vouch for the restoration's authenticity.

Malatya Museum is a fascinating establishment that exhibits archaeological artifacts dating back to prehistoric times, as well as showcasing the rich local history and culture. A visit to this museum is highly recommended and requires an entrance fee of 20TL, unless you possess a Museum Card which grants free admission in September 2022. The displayed items are accompanied by informative explanations that offer detailed historical information, particularly emphasizing the discoveries made around Arslantepe between 4000-2000 BC.
Well worth the visit
Entrance fee: 20TL September 2022
Entrance free if you have Museum Card
The explanations next to displayed items contain detailed historical information.
Especially for the findings discovered around Arslantepe. (Covers mostly 4000-2000 BC period)I have learned here that the first ever sword in the world was made around this area. The ancient people were good with metals even at those times.
The entrance on Google maps is misplaced. It shows the staff parking entrance. You should use the entrance from the Kernek Square next to the mosque

Unfortunately, there's not a huge amount to see, but there are the least interesting of the oldest known swords in the world. The best from the find are in Ankara. There's a few other interesting bits and bobs but probably the least of the museum's I've been to in the last month in Turkey.
Jamie Hay — Google review
Nice displays of nearby archaeological sites, mostly Arslantepe but also a few others. Not a lot to see but nicely laid out and plenty of information, in English too. Friendly guards. Some of the major finds from Arslantepe have been taken to Ankara.

Malatya Park Shopping Center is a spacious mall that offers a wide range of retail stores and services, including a food court and a movie theater. While the clothing stores may not be well-known or of high quality, the coffee points are fairly good. The location of the mall is remarkable and easily accessible by public transportation. The Sultansuyu Farm is a remarkable establishment, housing a wide variety of carefully bred horses. Among them are former race champions and colts with immense potential for future championships. The farm boasts an expansive and well-preserved land, providing the ideal environment for raising these exceptional animals.
(Translated by Google) 2021 comment: The facility is very nice
Work done consciously
Employees appeared to enjoy their job
One of the 3 facilities where Turkey's best horses are bred
In recent years, people not only travel but also ride horses and rehabilitation has begun, but this situation has been temporarily suspended due to pantomime.
When I visited yesterday, I saw colts, rehabilitated horses coming from Ankara as temporary guests, track horses, beauty pageant horses, etc.
I think it is a very good thing that such facilities are run by the state and allow the public to benefit from them.
There is not much to say about horses, they are noble animals, they are emotional and they have been used in embroidery at every stage, starting from the domestication process of our ancestors until today. It is a good thing that our people are sensitive to animals and have a more sincere approach towards horses.
I hope that the facility will be further updated so that the public can benefit from it. It is a pity that the municipality or the governorship ignore this, even though these horses, which are a serious source of income, have a good advertising potential in our city.
2022 edit: Everyone, from the business manager from Sinop to the security guard at the entrance, Mr. Emre, is a kind and very caring business.
Again, we took our guests from out of town around and they were very interested.
The campus was further expanded, lodgings were built, and new buildings were built for the colts.
Regular work continues at full speed

The Hittites (/ˈhɪtaɪts/) were an Anatolian people who played an important role in establishing first a kingdom in Kussara (before 1750 BC), then the Kanesh or Nesha kingdom (c. 1750–1650 BC), and next an empire centered on Hattusa in north-central Anatolia (around 1650 BC).[2][3] This empire reached its height during the mid-14th century BC under Šuppiluliuma I, when it encompassed an area that included most of Anatolia as well as parts of the northern Levant and Upper Mesopotamia.

It's on the must list if you are on the road Nemrut. Incredibly huge ancient city from Persian to Romans. A lot of cave tombs. Don't forget sunglasses and sunscreen. If you come summer don't recommend at noon time due to extreme hot condition. You can watch an information video about the place in the museum shop while you are drinking cold-water or ice cream.

(Translated by Google) The people who made the sculptures on Mount Nemrut chose Pirin among their cemeteries. Pirin, an ancient settlement and later a tomb city, is an example of how indifferent and disrespectful our state and people are to the historical heritage. Pirin village, next to the ruins, is a village built on this cemetery area. The village is a protected area, but settlement continues. Even in Europe, that village would have been expropriated, the place would have been protected and evacuated, but this is Turkey. Pirin, an amazing rock tomb city that I highly recommend you to go and see, is almost within the city of Adıyaman today. It is very close to the centre. Visit this place before you go to Nemrut. This place was chosen by the people who own the rock tombs due to its special location overlooking the Nemrut Mountain statues. Have your meal at İskender 85 steakhouse in Adıyaman, it is a quality and affordable place. If you like fish, choose Sürgü Ali Uncle's place. Among the hotels, choose Hilton because it is newly built...

Nemrut dağındaki heykelleri yapan halk mezarlıkları içinde Pirin'i seçmiştir. The Adiyaman Museum is an unpretentious establishment that showcases ancient pottery, coins, figurines, and mosaics. It houses a collection of interesting artifacts in a small yet charming space. Notably, there is a well-crafted model of Nemrut Dag on display. The museum building has incurred some damage from past earthquakes, resulting in minor cracks on nonstructural walls. Its convenient location within the city allows for easy access without the need for additional travel time.

Rumkale is an old Byzantine fortress with a fantastic history surrounding it. There is great signage to get to it. Once you arrive to the area there are numerous viewing platforms to catch a glimpse of the magnificent fortress. There is a bit of parking by the castle itself but also a large parking lot about a 10 minute walk away.
IMPORTANT: To get to the castle itself, you have to take a short boat ride. We heard that prices were ~15 TL per person but the fortress itself was closed for renovations.
There are some places with limited selections of food, snacks, and souvenirs. They also offer boat tours around the euphrates for ~100 TL per person. You can also take a boat ride to the nearby zeugma archeological site.
The castle is incredibly beautiful and definitely worth a visit!

Sultan Süleyman built the Ulu Mosque between 1442 and 1454, according to historical records and renovated it in 1501. Historic events have taken place at the Great Mosque of Cairo. As a mosque with a wooden dome, it is a member of a select group. Haram measures 22x40.90 meters, narthex measures 5.30x40.90 meters, and the minaret has one balcony. It was built using rough-cut and rubble stones on the wooden beam façade. The mosque's minaret, gateway, mihrab, and pulpit, all decorated in the style of the princely period and early Anatolian Seljuk architecture, call attention to themselves. When I visited, I was enchanted by it.

Our stop at Gaziantep was specifically for a visit to the Zeugma Mosaic Museum. The museum showcases its vast collection, from the detailed mosaics of the 2nd–3rd century to the more primitive designs of the 5th century, highlighting the surprising decline in artistic skill over just two centuries. The early works resemble fine paintings, rich in detail and depth, while later pieces become more pictographic, reflecting a drastic shift.

65 lira entry without audio guide. It's on the other side of the train station, so you'll have to cross the station underground by foot or hitch a taxi from town. Not the nicest area of Gaziantep surrounding the museum. It takes 1 hour minimum, 2+ if you want to take your time a bit. It's not as huge as all that, but the collection is in a large space and there is more than enough to take in in one go. The famous eyes of the 'gypsy girl,' or Alexander's eyes, are in a dark room.

It's a fairly big museum to look at with some nice pieces. I would recommend to buy headphones if you are really interested as there is not too much text inside to read.

Beautiful museum with an amazing collection of artifacts. It's definitely worth a visit. The museum its self is clean, informative and nicely laid out. The audio headset are good but they only cover the main building collections.
M Smith — Google review
65 lira entry without audio guide. It's on the other side of the train station, so you'll have to cross the station underground by foot or hitch a taxi from town. Not the nicest area of Gaziantep surrounding the museum. It takes 1 hour minimum, 2+ if you want to take your time a bit. It's not as huge as all that, but the collection is in a large space and there is more than enough to take in in one go. The famous eyes of the 'gypsy girl,' or Alexander's eyes, are in a dark room.
Kyle Witzen — Google review
The craftsmanship of those who lived centuries ago is truly mind-blowing. Visitors also have the option to rent an audio guide for an even richer experience of the historical wonders.

Amazing collection of artifacts and glimpse of mosaic history from 2AD.
The decoration of mosaics on the floors and walls not only display philosophy of beauty to the public but also give information about the social life at that time.
If you are fascinating with the art of mosaics, don’t miss this museum.

İt was interesting seeing the intertwined history of the Turks and Greeks. Very cool to see the remains and how some of them got stolen by treasure hunters. Definitely not a place for young children because they might damage the display. I'd say it's more for infants who can stay in the stroller or 7yr olds and up who can grasp the information a bit

Specially if you like mythology and history is the wonderful place 🤩 I came with the tour and was lucky to have a knowledge guide who was telling the stories behind each mosaic. Actually this is the biggest mosaic museum with the famous “gypsy girl” mosaic which is located in the separate room
Free entrance with Muzekart, otherwise it’s 280 TL=10$

Glassware, coins, jewelry & other relics dating back to the Roman era displayed in a charming venue.
A beautiful private museum in an old stone mansion. Entrance is 4 liras for adults and 2 liras for students. The collection is pretty interesting. Since the museum is not very big, most probably you will spend less than an hour here.

The Gaziantep Hamam Museum is a reconstructed bathhouse built in 1577, showcasing the Ottoman-style hammam culture. It has been restored to its original condition and features waxwork figures, bath bowls, soaps, and fragrances from that era. The museum is located near the Gaziantep castle and offers various sections like the navel stone and puerperal bath. Visitors can gain insights into this cultural tradition before experiencing a hamam themselves.
It's an small museum near the Gaziantep castle. It's worth visiting to know a bit history of the Turkish hamam. As a foreigner we have to pay for a ticket. It's not free. Tickets should be paid by VISA card at the entrance. No cash accepted. No toilet a available inside. For any questions the receptionists are helpful.

Beautiful museum right beside the Gaziantep castle. You should visit and see the Hamam(Ottoman Bath) culture here before you experience going to Hamam yourself so you would not miss the tiny details during your Hamam :) Entrance fee was 5₺ only and sadly the soap making wasnt available bc of pandemic. Still you should visit if you pass by the castle :)

However, you should be careful, not every seller may be reliable and honest, I exclude the honest ones. Ask someone who knows what to buy and where to buy it. It is necessary to learn that it is as natural and durable as it is. Pay attention to weight and measure, as a native of Gaziantep, it is my primary and conscientious duty to warn.

Interesting place to while away some time if you happen to visit Gaziantep, especially if you enjoy food.
The museum is set in an interesting house not far from the castle. It is well designed and has static displays of the culinary history of the area. Most importantly, write ups are both in Turkish and English.
Take the time to locate this museum the day you visit the castle - if you are interested in food.

Say the name Gaziantep to a Turk, and they'll usually start talking about food. This city is known as one of the country's culinary capitals, so it's no surprise that there's a museum dedicated to its food. The layout and excellent information panels guide you through Gaziantep's most famed dishes, which of course include the sticky, syrupy delights of the town's baklava, but also plenty of savory dishes that have an extra-spicy kick compared to much of Turkish cuisine. You'll most likely walk out of the museum hungry, so study up the information panels while in the museum and then head out with your new knowledge to taste some local flavors for lunch.

While it may be quite costly to visit, the dining options within the museum are unremarkable. Nevertheless, this establishment stands out for its prestigious service and ornate decorations.
