Kong Family Mansion is a historic site that serves as the home of the descendants of Confucius. It features a museum, garden, and spacious courtyards that showcase its rich history. Despite its popularity, it is not overrun with tourists even during peak seasons. Visitors can witness a nearby parade at the city gate which adds to their overall experience. The mansion itself boasts multiple courtyards and is not overly commercialized allowing visitors to fully immerse themselves in Chinese culture.
Great place and not too crowded even during summer. There’s a parade at the city gate nearby that’s worth seeing. The family mansion was large and had many courtyards. It’s not too commercialized and you can enjoy seeing the historic building. When I went there in July 2019, they had a renovation so not all buildings were open.

The Confucius Mansion was founded in 1038 AD. The building is based on the highest-level nine-entry courtyard. It covers a vast area and has 463 halls and buildings. It is a representative building that combines the government office and the inner residence into one. It is also the longest-lasting building in history. Feudal noble manor. Iron Pagoda Park (West Gate) in Kaifeng is a lesser-known gem that encompasses the Yanqing Taoist Temple and the historic 11th-century Iron Pagoda, which sits adjacent to a beautiful lake. This park, often overshadowed by newer attractions like Yuchen and Qingming Shang He Tu, offers visitors a glimpse into ancient Buddhism with its pagoda built over 1000 years ago.
An ancient tower which is almost 1000 years old
Dodou Wang — Google review
One of the most under rated place in Kaifeng. I was astonished that this park is rated below the recent man made Yuchen 御城and qingming shang he tu 清明上河图 which were built within 20 years ago。The pagoda was built about 1000 years ago for the purpose of housing Budda bone ( 舍利). The pagoda has 8 faces (probably means see all the directions or 八卦?)and 13 levels(probably also meaning something) and each tile of it contains drawings of Budda. The park has fewer visitors and fare is 40 CNY. Along with the lake and some sculpture (no sign and I don't have time to dig out what they are about), this place is definitely top 3 in Kaifeng.

It's a park that built based on classical Chinese painting "Qingming Shang He Tu" or in english "Along the River During the Qingming Festival" which captures the daily life of people and the landscape of the northern song dynasty capital city, bianjiang (now:kaifeng).
The buildings, bridges, city walls and docks in the park are made exactly the same as in the painting. You can find that the workers and staff there are also wear clothes and accessories like they're one of the song dynasty's people.
If you want to dress like them, the park also have some stall that rent out dresses and clothes for man, woman and kids. They also offer photo service if you wanted to take some picture wearing that clothes.
The park also provides many interesting shows that can be watched for free, such as a story about one of the famous hero in Chinese history, Yue Fei. If you want to watch the show, please pay attention to the show schedule and don't be late, because they will close the gate when the performance starts.
Overall, this park is very interesting and worth to go. But unfortunately, when I went there, it was a foggy day..so I couldn't enjoy the park to the fullest.

This is where Zhuge Liang lived in seclusion for ten years before leaving the mountains, and it is also where Liu Bei visited the thatched cottage three times. Stepping into Longzhong, the first thing that catches your eye is the large stone archway built during the Guangxu period of the Qing Dynasty. On one side of the archway is engraved a famous line from Du Fu's "The Prime Minister of Shu": Three visits frequently make plans for the world, and two dynasties open up the hearts of veterans. On the back are engraved the five characters "Three Generations Next". In memory of Zhuge Liang, he was praised by later generations as the most outstanding figure after Xia, Shang and Zhou Dynasties. In the scenic area, there are also "Ten Scenic Spots in Longzhong" built by later generations because of their admiration for Zhuge Liang. If you go to Gurungzhong, it is recommended to watch "Thatched Cottage Theater". This is the first live-action drama performed in the form of thatched cottage in China, including three scenes including "Longzhong Duo", "The Song of the Ugly Wife" and "Red Cliff Ode".

One of the biggest lake in the heart of a city. Definitely worth spend more than 2 days to check out the area, doing some hiking, kayaking or biking.

I was impressed by the park and its lake - although its in the city, area is big and green, you feel yourself relaxed, surraunded by nature, dufferent trees, sculptures, chinees temples, small boads floating in water. You can find many benches, as well as cafes and playgrounds for kids. Dont expect, that you see whole park in 1 day - for that you need to rent a bicycle and be fit :) also you may rent a boat (price is fixed for all of them and depends on the distance) to see spectacular vies from the lake side. The park has differently designed areas, for example, traditional chinees garden, modern sculpture park, west plams trees garden and many others. For me the most exciting was walking down the sidewalk, where water is at the both sides.

Hubei Provincial Museum, established in 1953, is a large museum with an impressive collection of around 200,000 historical and cultural artifacts.
All I can say is wow! The overall layout of Hubei Provincial Museum reflects the construction model and characteristics of Chu State (a state in the Spring and Autumn Period (770BC-476BC)). It is amazing to see what kind of technology that they had even before Christ was born. The tomb of Marquis was simply impressive. How well preserved it was as well as all of the artifacts that were buried. He was the 9th emperor of the Han dynasty. There are many photos showing how they excavated the tomb and parts which were completely under water. The majority of the works lost wax technique. It is hard to imagine that they could make such detailed bronze statuary. The museum is split into three parts: the comprehensive exhibition hall, the Chu Culture Exhibition Hall and the Chime Bell Exhibition Hall. The bells were so impressive. There was a small display in a corner where you could simulate the bells tones just by pressing a key on a keyboard. Depending on where the bell was hit was a different tone.

A gorgeous place to spend at least three hours on. A concise exhibit that showcases what Hubei is known for. Go for the souvenirs, the bookmarks and nick nacks are very affordable.

Here keeps Chime Bells which is the largest bronze musical instrument discovered so far, as well as the sword of Zhou Juan, the king of the Yue State in the Spring and Autumn Period, who is very well-known to Chinese people.

Expansive museum with a trove of valuable collections. Including some extremely significant items.
Nicely organized, beautifully presented and with beautiful fitting architecture, there were also some activities that could be booked for an additional charge, such as a historical musical program.
Definitely worth the price of admission.

Yellow Crane Tower, a reconstructed 5-story tower standing at 168 feet high, is a revered landmark in Wuhan. Originally built during the Qing dynasty as a military watchtower, the current building was erected in 1981 and has become the pride of the city. The pagoda features traditional Chinese paintings and calligraphy, decorative lamps, a souvenir shop, and a showroom modeled after ancient Chu-style sitting rooms.
It was an amazing trip to this gorgeous city and the yellow crane tower literally crowned it.

Splendid environment, located high up on a hill which gives you a 360-degree view of the surrounding area. Well-maintained area and lots of small gardens and history to discover. There's also plenty of food/snack options inside and areas to sit down and rest when needed. The yellow crane tower is rasy to reach with your own vehicle and by public transportation. Cheap entrance tickets and free for elderly people.

The Yellow Crane Tower is the great cultural highlight of Wuhan, and it gets better in the evening when the vast majority of the buildings on the bank of the Yangtze River gifting us with an astonishing light show experience. They are covered by LED lights which make the buildings look like a big cinema screen. The yellow lights emerging from Yellow Crane Tower streak across the sky. It worth visiting late in the afternoon to witness its beauty in daylight and at night

This tower was destroyed a bunch of times and rebuilt to the point where there is an elevator inside the tower. Nonetheless, it is very aesthetically pleasing. It's a big campus so is room to wander. Inside the tower has a lack of English signage though so you may want to get a guide (available after entering the campus).

This was one of the highlights of my trip to Wuhan. Such a historical place and the surrounding park reflecting its rich history.
Be warned, in the humid conditions of late summer, it can be quite an arduous trek and climbing up the tower itself with crowds of people can be challenging. But to reach the fifth floor of the tower is an achievement and the breathtaking views of the city are unforgettable.
Bonus: they sell ice cream in the shape of the tower.

A wonderful place to visit in Wuhan. The tower has been rebuilt many times. Although there is easy access by public transportation, I recommend to take a taxi which is pretty inexpensive. The ticket costs RMB 70, and gives access to the entire area that contains the tower. There is even a collection of different stones and gems in one of the building as well as different pavilions and fountains. On the top of the hill there is a big bell. The tower is equipped with an elevator for the elderly. Recommended.

It holds the distinction of being the first bridge over the river and stretches 1.6 km, linking Turtle Hill in Hanyang to Snake Hill in Wuchang. Changsha Window of the World is a popular tourist attraction featuring replicas of renowned global sites such as Mount Rushmore and the Egyptian pyramids, in addition to various amusement rides. Window of the world was an experience! The theme park itself was quite old and worn, with a lot of the park looking dirty and unclean. But it had a certain charm and I especially enjoyed the lake's water fountain show to some Disney and opera songs. I really did enjoy it and the lack of stars is only a reflection on the tiredness of the park. Sydney Opera House for example looked as though it had been on a three week bender - looked a bit dirty and smelly, but like lots of fun...

The staff seemed to be taking turns taking a break, so there were some play equipment that I couldn't ride on.
Boats and VR require additional fees.
When I ordered gyudon at a shop next to the roller coaster that rotates once, it was seasoned like a hot pot.
There were also other stinky tofu shops.
Although you can't see it on the map, there are many hills, so if you have small children, we recommend renting a stroller. The Ferris wheel had a lot of stairs so it was a little difficult. It was a nice change of pace.
I think 20 yuan per person is cheap considering you can play this much.

The Reed Flute Cave is a landmark and tourist attraction in Guilin, Guangxi, China.
The cave got its name from the type of reed growing outside, which can be made into flutes. Reed Flute Cave is filled with a large number of stalactites, stalagmites and other rock formations. Inside, there are more than 70 inscriptions written in ink, which can be dated back as far as 792 AD in the Tang dynasty. It was rediscovered in the 1940s by a group of refugees fleeing the Japanese troops. Nowadays, multicolored lighting artificially illuminates the cave. The Reed Flute Cave is filled with various stalactites and stalagmites, which are named according to what they look like and the legends surrounding them, Crystal Palace, Fish Tail Peak, and Dragon Pagoda. One giant stalactite is said to have been the magic spear of the Dragon King, used by the Monkey King Sun Wukong in the Chinese Buddhist classic, Journey to the West.

In my opinion, it is not the best place in Guilin, but if you are in Guilin and have some free time, it is worth visiting 😊

I came to Guilin and went to the Reed Flute Cave at the end of October 2018. When I arrived at the bus location, I had to park at the parking location located below. We can climb up on foot or take the train. The Reed Flute Cave is a cave that is formed naturally but requires a very long time. The view of the stone in the cave is given a very beautiful colorful lights. The air outside and inside the cave is very cool. We have to go up and down stairs to walk down the cave. Then prepare yourself and maybe be able to bring water in a bottle because the cave that must be passed is quite long. Inside also at certain times there is a short film projected onto the rock and very good. If we come there with a local guide, they can tell fairy tales about stones that can resemble several shapes.

A nice experience. It's about a 30 minute slow walk through the cave. The air is cool and the floors are wet and slippery. Take your water bottle and wear good walking shoes. I went with a tour group and they had a short movie playing across the limestone walls/ceiling. There's also a photo booth within the cave where you can get your photo taken by the cave photographer and printed out. The cave guide spoke good English and pointed out limestones formed like snowman, Christmas trees, local vegetables, mushrooms, etc.

The Seven Star Park is a sprawling 134 hectare park located in Guilin, China. Surrounded by rocky peaks and winding paths, the park contains a variety of natural features, including the Seven Star Cave system and the Camel Hill botanical garden. The park also includes an arched bridge and landscaped gardens. Activities inside the park such as hiking and biking are all free, but visitors need to purchase tickets for other attractions such as the cave system and camel hill.

Take a leisurely walk in the large garden. There are plenty of things to see, including free-range monkeys and Chinese-style buildings.

A very large park. If I have time, I want to relax.
It is famous for Camel Rock. For a fee, you can also take commemorative photos in front of the rock, cormorant fishing style. Apparently the cormorants here are children who have retired from fishing.

Nice maintained paied park but all activities inside need to add ticket cost

Used to come here often as a kid, but the scenery inside is not worth the entrance price. The highlight for me are the several hills inside the park that can be easily hiked for good views of the city, a hill shaped like a camel where Bill Clinton gave a speech, and a mosque and several modest Buddhist temples, but they may have renovated and gone commercial. Qixing Cave can be skipped if you see Reed Flute Cave.
If you are put off by the ticket price, there are a few places where the park fence intersect the river where one could sneak in for free, just watch for poop along the path.

The park itself is fine, OK to visit, ticket isn't too expensive, but need another different tickets for here and there, the famous CAVE is one of them, need an extra ticket to enter.
The pavilion on top of the middle small hill is not that worth it after reach it, not well maintained and not very clean, either. The view for surrounding terrains are just fine.

Nice park in Guilin, you could climb up a mountain inside the park to get a great view of the city and surrounding mountains. Had some beautiful sculptures and nice amenities. The high ropes course is cool, but much more suited to kids than adults as we found out the hard way 😂

A nice Park right in the centre of Guilin. The view from the star pavilion is great. We met a monk praying at the top of the mountain, saw some monkeys and took a photo in ethnic costumes in front of camel Hill. All in all a very relaxing way to spend an afternoon

Nice and large park, lot of spectacular monkeys. They are not aggresives if you avoid to show some food and try to touch them... Interesting paintings selling point and others.
The Riyue Shuangta Cultural Park is a large and peaceful park with many attractions, including beautiful towers made of marbles that are stunning at both day and night. Sun and Moon Towers are among the famous places in Guilin, and the park is also great for exploring by bike or on foot.
Fun ride on boat to see the Sun and Moon Pagodas. Fun!!!

A very nice place with breathtaking view. Went there in the evening and enjoy the view until nite time.
There are lots of local having a good time exercising & chit-chating with friends.
You can also get lots of local fishing in the lake as well.
For me the best time to visit is during evening as you can have 2 different view of the same 2 pagoda.

Had a great time in Guilin. Went during Chinese New year's and to our surprise it wasn't really that busy. The weather was also pleasant and not very cold. Many places to go explore and sight see. Including the three hour river ride, the famous rice terrace and the caverns. About 3 days should be enough to go do all these places. Book a tour like we did. It was worth it.

Very unique double towers. You can use the tunnel under the water to get from Moon tower to sun tower, and they have a lift in Sun tower!

Pretty little lake with two similar yet slightly different looking pagodas in it. Particularly beautiful at night when the sun and moon pagodas are lit up in white and orange. A nice place to take a walk and relax without having to pay any money to do so. Right in the center of all the other attractions in Guilin city, so it is absolutely worth a visit.

The iconic Elephant Trunk Hill is a scenic hill in Guilin that features an elephant trunk-shaped rock arch in the water. The hill is home to osmanthus flowers and the Elephant Trunk Mountain, which are both emblems of Guilin. The area around the hill is also known for its Water Moon and Love Island, two of Guilin's most exceptional tourist attractions.
Guilin is a wonderful stop for tourists, with the Elephant Trunk Hill site, Reed Flute Cave and a Li River boat ride. Included it for sure if you're a Western visitor, may only get to the PRC once!

Elephant Trunk Hill in Guilin offers a serene escape with its picturesque surroundings. The natural beauty of the area provides a perfect backdrop for relaxation. However, be prepared for crowds, as the site attracts a significant number of tourists. Despite the bustling atmosphere, the iconic Elephant Trunk rock formation and the scenic Li River make it a must-visit. The blend of nature and cultural significance is truly captivating. Consider visiting during off-peak hours for a more tranquil experience and optimal photo opportunities. Overall, a delightful spot, but best enjoyed with patience amid the tourist hustle.

An iconic landmark in Guilin, Guangxi, China. The hill features resembled a giant elephant dipping its trunk into the river. The Elephant Trunk Hill together with the beautiful Li River is the city emblem and one of the most popular attractions in Guilin. The best way to appreciate the attraction is via a ferry ride around the hill.

Could have been a great scenic spot provided you visit during the proper season but by then it can be rather crowded. Boat ride available if the river hasn't dried out yet. Do visit both in daytime as well as night when it is lit up by artificial lighting.
