(Translated by Google) The bridge is very beautiful but the rise of tourists and the popularity of damn boats has spoiled the entire landscape. Some traffic jams form under the bridge and there are hundreds of bamboo marks and a lot of commotion. There are bridges around that are just as beautiful and empty.

The iconic Elephant Trunk Hill is a scenic hill in Guilin that features an elephant trunk-shaped rock arch in the water. The hill is home to osmanthus flowers and the Elephant Trunk Mountain, which are both emblems of Guilin. The area around the hill is also known for its Water Moon and Love Island, two of Guilin's most exceptional tourist attractions.
Guilin is a wonderful stop for tourists, with the Elephant Trunk Hill site, Reed Flute Cave and a Li River boat ride. Included it for sure if you're a Western visitor, may only get to the PRC once!
Fred Irvin — Google review
Elephant Trunk Hill in Guilin offers a serene escape with its picturesque surroundings. The natural beauty of the area provides a perfect backdrop for relaxation. However, be prepared for crowds, as the site attracts a significant number of tourists. Despite the bustling atmosphere, the iconic Elephant Trunk rock formation and the scenic Li River make it a must-visit. The blend of nature and cultural significance is truly captivating. Consider visiting during off-peak hours for a more tranquil experience and optimal photo opportunities. Overall, a delightful spot, but best enjoyed with patience amid the tourist hustle.
Ken Wong — Google review
An iconic landmark in Guilin, Guangxi, China. The hill features resembled a giant elephant dipping its trunk into the river. The Elephant Trunk Hill together with the beautiful Li River is the city emblem and one of the most popular attractions in Guilin. The best way to appreciate the attraction is via a ferry ride around the hill.
CK Cheong — Google review
Could have been a great scenic spot provided you visit during the proper season but by then it can be rather crowded. Boat ride available if the river hasn't dried out yet. Do visit both in daytime as well as night when it is lit up by artificial lighting.

It is famous for Camel Rock. For a fee, you can also take commemorative photos in front of the rock, cormorant fishing style. Apparently the cormorants here are children who have retired from fishing.

Nice maintained paied park but all activities inside need to add ticket cost
Fabrice Taieb — Google review
Used to come here often as a kid, but the scenery inside is not worth the entrance price. The highlight for me are the several hills inside the park that can be easily hiked for good views of the city, a hill shaped like a camel where Bill Clinton gave a speech, and a mosque and several modest Buddhist temples, but they may have renovated and gone commercial. Qixing Cave can be skipped if you see Reed Flute Cave.
If you are put off by the ticket price, there are a few places where the park fence intersect the river where one could sneak in for free, just watch for poop along the path.

The park itself is fine, OK to visit, ticket isn't too expensive, but need another different tickets for here and there, the famous CAVE is one of them, need an extra ticket to enter.
The pavilion on top of the middle small hill is not that worth it after reach it, not well maintained and not very clean, either. The view for surrounding terrains are just fine.

Nice park in Guilin, you could climb up a mountain inside the park to get a great view of the city and surrounding mountains. Had some beautiful sculptures and nice amenities. The high ropes course is cool, but much more suited to kids than adults as we found out the hard way 😂

A nice Park right in the centre of Guilin. The view from the star pavilion is great. We met a monk praying at the top of the mountain, saw some monkeys and took a photo in ethnic costumes in front of camel Hill. All in all a very relaxing way to spend an afternoon

Nice and large park, lot of spectacular monkeys. They are not aggresives if you avoid to show some food and try to touch them... Interesting paintings selling point and others.
The Riyue Shuangta Cultural Park is a large and peaceful park with many attractions, including beautiful towers made of marbles that are stunning at both day and night. Sun and Moon Towers are among the famous places in Guilin, and the park is also great for exploring by bike or on foot.
Fun ride on boat to see the Sun and Moon Pagodas. Fun!!!

Had a great time in Guilin. Went during Chinese New year's and to our surprise it wasn't really that busy. The weather was also pleasant and not very cold. Many places to go explore and sight see. Including the three hour river ride, the famous rice terrace and the caverns. About 3 days should be enough to go do all these places. Book a tour like we did. It was worth it.

Pretty little lake with two similar yet slightly different looking pagodas in it. Particularly beautiful at night when the sun and moon pagodas are lit up in white and orange. A nice place to take a walk and relax without having to pay any money to do so. Right in the center of all the other attractions in Guilin city, so it is absolutely worth a visit.

Yaoshan cable car and mountain is under renovation when I visited in Sept 2023. The trail to walk up exist but went up from 240m at cable car station to about 360m elevation only, the trail disappeared after. Disappointed, it looks like a mountain with good aerial view of Guilin city.

Great trip up the chairlift to see some of the surrounds of Guilin. A decent long ride and some interesting views. We had three kids under 1.4m so they couldn't ride alone, so we paid our taxi driver to accompany our oldest. The kids weren't very well secured but most of the time you aren't very far off the ground. Our weather was foggy so we couldn't see really far but it meant the ride wasn't too hot.

Reed Flute Cave, located just north of Guilin, is a dazzling system of water-eroded caves with various formations that can look like mythical creatures or other images. The cave's colorful artificial lights give it an added special effect and make it a popular tourist destination.
Rated a AAAA scenic site, this beautiful cave system filled with stalactites and stalagmites. The additional lighting makes the natural aspects look even more beautiful. It does get quite hot and crowded in the caves. The stairs do get quite steep and it does require a decent level of fitness to get through. Definitely worth the visit.

The Reed Flute Cave is a landmark and tourist attraction in Guilin, Guangxi, China.
The cave got its name from the type of reed growing outside, which can be made into flutes. Reed Flute Cave is filled with a large number of stalactites, stalagmites and other rock formations. Inside, there are more than 70 inscriptions written in ink, which can be dated back as far as 792 AD in the Tang dynasty. It was rediscovered in the 1940s by a group of refugees fleeing the Japanese troops. Nowadays, multicolored lighting artificially illuminates the cave. The Reed Flute Cave is filled with various stalactites and stalagmites, which are named according to what they look like and the legends surrounding them, Crystal Palace, Fish Tail Peak, and Dragon Pagoda. One giant stalactite is said to have been the magic spear of the Dragon King, used by the Monkey King Sun Wukong in the Chinese Buddhist classic, Journey to the West.
I got Anne a really nice egg / egg cup for her collection from here.

Very nice cave, very beautiful lighting. A bit commercial, but there are really nice spots to take photos. Recommend booking a private guide who can explain the history in English, since the staff cannot speak English. In my opinion, it is not the best place in Guilin, but if you are in Guilin and have some free time, it is worth visiting 😊

I came to Guilin and went to the Reed Flute Cave at the end of October 2018. When I arrived at the bus location, I had to park at the parking location located below. We can climb up on foot or take the train. The Reed Flute Cave is a cave that is formed naturally but requires a very long time. The view of the stone in the cave is given a very beautiful colorful lights. The air outside and inside the cave is very cool. We have to go up and down stairs to walk down the cave. Then prepare yourself and maybe be able to bring water in a bottle because the cave that must be passed is quite long. Inside also at certain times there is a short film projected onto the rock and very good. If we come there with a local guide, they can tell fairy tales about stones that can resemble several shapes.
Rajawali Robert — Google review
A nice experience. It's about a 30 minute slow walk through the cave. The air is cool and the floors are wet and slippery. Take your water bottle and wear good walking shoes. I went with a tour group and they had a short movie playing across the limestone walls/ceiling. There's also a photo booth within the cave where you can get your photo taken by the cave photographer and printed out. The cave guide spoke good English and pointed out limestones formed like snowman, Christmas trees, local vegetables, mushrooms, etc.

The Longji or Dragon’s Backbone rice terraces were built over 500 years ago during the Ming Dynasty. The terrace fields are found in Longsheng about a two hours drive from Guilin. From a distance, during the growing season, these winding terraces appear as if they were green woven cables laid out over the hillsides, starting at the riverbank and ending near the mountaintop. Visitors can meander through the paddies and villages, greeting and being greeted by horses, pigs, chickens and hard working locals.

One of the best experiences I've ever had. Breathe taking views unlike anything I've ever seen before. Was fun especially because me and the wife started hiking up the terraces with our friends from the Wada hostel, and then eventually hiked a different path. We later found out our friend Yen took a great photo of us from a higher elevation than us. Bring a map with you as its easy to get lost. And may have only locals high in the terrace villages to give you direction which usually don't speak good English. Lots of beautiful views to see. Also the rice they heat up in a bamboo stick was surprisingly very good. Highly recommend coming here if you stop by Guilin!!

The Sanjiang Drum Tower is a popular tourist attraction that showcases the distinctive architectural style of the Dong ethnic group. The grand performances by numerous performers leave an indelible impression on visitors' minds, and it is a must-visit destination for those interested in cultural shows. The tower exhibits stunning display of traditional and cultural elements making it an ideal location to explore the rich heritage of China's ethnic minority groups.
I have at last located the venue of the collaborative traditional and cultural show of "Sitting Sister" here. It was sensational to watch such a large scale performers' performances. Although I saw it in early June 2016, the scenes were still vivid in my mind!

The Chengyang Yongji Bridge, located approximately 18 kilometers north of Sanjiang, is a remarkable wooden bridge that dates back to 1912. It stands out among the over 100 wind-and-rain bridges in the area due to its grand size and intricate design. Tourists can only watch and take photos from a distance, and then take the bridge next to it to enter the village. There are a bunch of vendors selling souvenirs on the wall, which is very lively!

Phoenix Ancient City is a popular tourist destination known for its well-preserved wooden houses, gates, and bridges. Nestled amidst towering mountains, it offers spectacular views at night when the traditional Chinese architecture blends seamlessly with the city's lights. Although it can be crowded during peak season, early spring and autumn provide a less busy atmosphere. Visitors can explore the area without feeling obligated to buy anything from its many shops.

The nighttime view is spectacular. The lights at night blend with the traditional Chinese architecture very well. It was crowded when I went in July, but early spring and autumn is a great time to see it when it is less crowded. It is very commercialized, but you don't really need or feel obligated to buy anything. Just take in the night view.

Beautiful ancient city. It isn’t big and it’s really expensive to get in here but still very interesting to explore. There are mostly local tourists visiting, like many other places in China, and it could get pretty crowded. The architecture and views still make for a magical visit.

This is an ancient city with dual images between days and nights. Around the city, with all the lighting everywhere in the evening, it is a dreamlike and blinking place. Young ladies wearing gorgeous Hmong(苗族) traditional clothes are everywhere. They rent the clothes with makeup service and professional photographer to take pretty photos for them.
There are lots of bars along the river (Tuo Jiang). Singers perform in the bars until 11:30pm according to the regulations. There are also snacks and souvenior shops along the river and on all streets/paths.
In the day time, it's a completely different place without lighting and crowds. If you want to see the "ancient city", make sure to enter the city gates.

Depending on what you're looking towards to, to decide when to visit this beautiful place, if you purely just want to enjoy the scenery and the walk, coming here during December (winter) is a good time as it is very quiet, 0 queue to enter as well, however due to the draught we were also unable to take the boat ride. be mindful that many shops are closed during this time due to the low peak season so you'll have very to little choices in food and drinks, as well as souvenir shops, it wont be as lively as you've seen on Youtube

Phoenix Ancient City, a gem nestled in the heart of nature, stands as a testament to the timeless beauty and rich history of its region. This enchanting locale, with its well-preserved architecture and scenic surroundings, offers a unique window into the past, inviting visitors to step into a world where tradition and modernity blend seamlessly.
As one wanders through the narrow, cobbled streets, they are greeted by the harmonious blend of old and new. Traditional wooden stilt houses, perched along the river, exhibit the classic architectural style of the area, while the gentle flow of the water adds a tranquil backdrop to the bustling city life. The sound of the river, coupled with the soft chatter of the locals and the distant melody of traditional music, creates an atmosphere that is both lively and soothing.
