Welcome to one of the largest travel centers in America, complete with a head shop section full of glass, grinders, and goodies as well as 5 other inner stores, under one roof, disguised as a truck stop. Mexican blankets and southwest decorations to suit every taste (?). Clothes and ice cream. T-shirts and slippers.
Wow………..
As previous reviewers have mentioned, and the billboards on I-40 have declared for the last 5 miles, the bathrooms are impeccably clean and well-designed. Be careful to pay obeisance to the fortune teller boxes though, straight out of Coney Island, as you walk the hall leading there.
There are at least a dozen gas pumps outside under the tall metal ceiling that can accommodate even an over-sized load of giant dozers on a flatbed truck without even coming close to the roof. The parking lot is massive as well so remember where you parked if it’s busy.
Having a Subway restaurant is a big plus for a travel center way out east on I-40 so dive in and tip the serving staff well.

Good place to stop for a restroom break. On the walk back to the restrooms I had to grin at the retro fortune telling machine…brings back memories of my childhood when we would drive across country and stop off at these little places to gas up and go to the restroom. The restrooms here were pretty good, clean, spacious, and lots of stalls. Better than the cold rest area a few miles up the road!
Didn’t explore anything else here but the exterior has a neat retro facade.

This was a fun stop. It's huge inside with all kinds of souvenirs. Stop by the fresh fudge section. The lady behind the counter was making fresh fudge. We bought 1 pound, four different flavors. So creamy and good.
Lemmie Klein — Google review
The best thing about this place is the restrooms because there's a lot of them and there is clean.
It's under construction especially the diesel part.
There's a Phillips 66 here there's a Conoco here and a Chevron here but Phillips 66 is the only one that functioning.
There is a lot of tourist stuff inside and you can have a Subway if you want.
They also have a lot of nice truck parking that is really really popular and sometimes truckers block each other in. At least the parking spots are marked.
I hear there's an employee that is always saying there's a lot of truck parking once an hour even though the trucker's say there is some parking and it makes it so the parking lot gets jammed up when truckers run out of hours.
Thanks employee, not really.

Been coming here for decades and it’s always a great place to stop. It’s getting a little dated and they could use some more food to grab but I can’t complain . Atleast there’s a place to stop.
Skibert Mateusz — Google review
An awesome gas station and shop. A lot of souvenirs and t-shirts and more. I would say they have the cleanest restroom in all I40. Good prices. Just started an RV park. Highly recommended for a short stop.
Salah Hafied — Google review
Lots of space, neat gift shop. Most people are welcoming. Not much for supplies and a bit pricey. I like the unique displays and fudge/candy counter and hard to find....all jelly belly flavors we stop here often when going through
Jodi Faye — Google review
Great place to grab a snack, and stretch. Fuel is priced well for the remote area and the bathrooms are always clean. A lot of shopping options as well. They even have fireworks.
Jim Seifried — Google review
This travel stop had plenty of parking, a store with everything and more, clean ladies room, friendly employees, an adjoining RV park, and lots to look at. I rarely buy touristy things but found myself making a purchase at this top. There was something for everyone. It was a fun “Route 66” stop.
Blissful Roamer — Google review
Came here at 1:45am so only gas station part was open. Still got a magnet for my fridge but it is such a nice place to look at what they have. All displays have price tags which was nice. They have lots of things to offer from food to souvenirs. Hate we missed the souvenirs part, was only able to look at that side and not walk around :-( Didn’t eat the food so have no clue about the quality. Restrooms were clean and lots of stalls. Truckers have round 5 acres to park.

The son of the owner(Nicholas) was a very "Good Soul", I had a problem with the truck(semi) and I needed water,he personally turn on the water power from inside and let me also use the water hose for me to easily reach the reservoir of the truck by connecting the hose to the water pipe a little distance from where the truck was parked, and he also took time to check me while I'm going thru the process,I'm so Blessed to have come to this place and encounter with Nicholas, and also the whole place was Nice,Clean and also has a little shopping area for souvenirs and extra features, not to mention that they also carry a large selections of Jelly bean candies and pecan caramelized candies and etc.It also has a large wide semi parking space and Free with no hassle.Subway is there for your meal and there's hot dogs and home made burritos sold in the store. For those travelers ,this is a Good and Comfortable place to consider when in New Mexico plus cashier's and people in the store are very Nice!!! From now on when in New Mexico ,I'll make sure to stop and visit this comfy and clean travel center and at the same time Free truck parking!!!

If you're a truck driver, parking is wonderful. Everything is overpriced. The washer and dryer are new but need to be maintained properly, did not spin out water. I mentioned it to Charles, and he said they needed to be rest. Bathrooms needed attention. On the convenience store side, the bathrooms are much better. Diesel is more expensive than other trucks stop in the area. Great selection of novelty items and snacks.

While traveling through New Mexico on our road trip heading towards Arizona we stopped here at Clines Corner Travel center to refuel and grab some snacks and drinks. Very clean restrooms. Also great views of the surrounding areas. Overall was very happy with experience stopping at this travel center. Nothing like the ones on East Coast like how unique it is! Yeehaw! Yeehaw! Yeehaw!😊

Tourist trap with semi truck parking. Truckers have to walk all the way around the building to the Phillips 66 because the chevron is closed. There is no entrance or exit on the trucker side of the lot. Normally not an issue but not cool in the dark or cold. Half the store is closed. Half the bathrooms are closed.
Vast riverfront park with multiple camping, fishing, birding & hiking areas along a canyon wall.
What a lovely campground! The location is deep set into an intimate rural community and lovely valley along the river. Many sites are right on the river or up on a bluff with a bit of a view. Most are in small clusters where you might have a direct neighbor or two, but decent privacy from the rest. Amenities, while not top tier, are better than I'd expect for the price. Take time to enjoy the couple short hikes from camp!
Thomas Bradley Meyers — Google review
This is a great park for camping and hiking. The populated portion of the park is the campground and there are some picnic sites and a nice visitor center. The main draw to this park is camping and hiking. There are no scenic drives. There is a nice small general store where you can get supplies, firewood, and a deli in Villanueva itself. Other services (including gas and laundry) are either in Las Vegas about 40 miles away or Santa Fe about 65 miles away. The Pecos National Historical Park is an excellent place to visit and is about 25 miles away.
The campground is excellent and is in very good condition. Most spaces are widely separated. Generators are allowed until 10 p.m. Camping has 30 amp power if needed. Water is iffy depending upon the site. Water is located nearby (site 13's was 100 feet or so away) that you can hook up to, just be sure you have enough hose and a splitter valve so you can join someone else on the same outlet. The park does provide free but weak WiFi. We have Verizon and its signal was adequate. We were here in December and it was very quiet. I understand from the host that the summers are VERY busy. The park does lock its gate at 7:30 p.m.
off-season and 9:30 p.m. high season. You cannot get in after the gates close because there is a tire ripper installed to prevent unauthorized entry after the park closes. You can get out however for emergencies etc.
Hiking is great, just be sure that climbing stone stairs and a rocky surface are okay with your ability. Watch out for rattlesnakes as the park is the perfect environment for them - as is most of the Southwest.
Roger Early — Google review
I adore this park. Great hike, beautiful views, ample space for each site.
Nikita Garcia — Google review
This state park is tucked in a canyon beside the Pecos River, near the small town of Villanueva, NM. This beautiful park has sites with and without electricity/water. Each site also has firepits. The clean restrooms contain showers for the campers, trash cans. There is wifi at the vistor's center. We had two bars of Verizon signal at our site.
Were Off Our Rockers — Google review
This is a great campground to take kids. Down by the end spots 22 21 and such they have a wonderful playground.
There is lots of easy hiking, access to the river (on out adventure it'd rained so the river was a little fast and high for the kids)
The camping sites have plenty of space between them.

The adventures of Mutt and sidekick continue, we spent the weekend up here with them and had a great time. Spaces 1-6 are located right by the front entrance. If you’re looking for peace and squirt with limited traffic you’ll have to go to spaces 19 and up. The drawbacks to those spaces is there is no electric, they are first come first serve, and cell phone signal does not exist. For electric you’ll have to go to the spaces right by the visitor center, those are reservation only and unfortunately, those are usually booked through the season. Once April comes around though you can go up to the El Cerro campground. There isn’t direct river access, but the views are awesome. Still no electric or water at the sites but well worth it. The majority of the sites are close to the river and you have good access for the trails and fishing. Fishing this time of year is just plain rough. The snow melt is starting, there hasn’t been a hatch yet and the river itself is very silty. The trails that are here are pretty rough and I would highly suggest to bring water, good hiking boots/shoes. There is considerable elevation change through rough terrain, mostly single file. The views, again are worth the trek though. The showers are clean, there is only one though. During the busy season, plan on a wait or time your showers at off peak times. Overall this is an excellent park, rangers are great, they take pride in their park and it shows.

Great location! The whole family loved it and our dog would not stay out of the water for very long. The only down side was the bathrooms were closed when we went, because everyone was freaking out about COVID. Other than the closure, it was an amazing stay.

This review is about the campground and from the perspective of a RV camper who needs internet during the day to work.
I'd like to share some information that may not have been mentioned before about this park—it actually has two campgrounds. One is on the ground level, the MAIN campground with reservable sites by the river. The other one is located on top of the hill called EL CERRO CAMPGROUND, which you can reach by turning left on the road just after the office building. This one is probably newer. While there aren't any hookup sites available up there, you'll find a more open sky and a peaceful atmosphere. There are vault toilets too. I personally had great AT&T reception on the hill, which I didn't have on the ground level, and I was able to set up my Starlink with a clear sky. The cost was $10/night for these dry sites.
The campground on the hill tends to be particularly enjoyable in the spring and fall because there are no hookups, but if you're prepared to handle a few hours of hot temperatures during the day, it can still be a viable option in the summer. It's worth noting that these sites operate on a first-come, first-served basis, as they didn't mention "reservation sites" like the sites on the ground level. Surprisingly, during my visit, I noticed many vacant spaces, all of which were quite nice. Starlink was easy to set up with no obstructions here.
When I visited the park in June, during the summer, it was indeed quite hot during the day. However, the temperatures cooled down to the comfortable 60s at night.
On the entrance level of the park, you'll encounter a greater number of trees and a more wooded setting and the river. The "reservation sites" are all here, and you can call or make reservations online many of which offer water and electric hookups. Unfortunately, I had no reception in this area, and the presence of trees hindered the use of Starlink so you better make those reservations before arriving to the park. There is a dump site and water available if needed.
The surroundings were stunning, with a couple of trails to explore, and in very hot days you can enjoy swimming in the river. It truly is a beautiful area.

Took a day trip here and it was so worth it. The river trail was great and saw lots of cows along the river. The park was in great condition and there were a few shady tables to picnic. I'd definitely come back for some camping.
Ingrid Love — Google review
Beautiful park. The sites are large, the restrooms were very clean and the cost was well worth the side-trip up into the valley.
The views are spectacular and the hike up the ridge revealed several historical ruins site where conquistadors, Native Americans and other travelers camped in their journeys.
The River Trail was short enough for a quick hike before dinner and the stream had plenty of fish. The pure silence, away from all traffic noise, was just what I needed after working in the city.
Meow Wolf is a mind-bending art installation that takes visitors on an adventure throughout a psychedelic multiverse. The venue has drawn eclectic performers from around the world, and no two concerts are alike. Afterward, guests can explore Cafe Pasqual's and La Reina for drinks and snacks. Finally, there's Hotel Santa Fe, which is owned by the Picuris Pueblo tribe.
I liked it but it's very intense. I don't get motion sickness or claustrophobic but for some reason nausea settled in after about 30 minutes of exploring. Thankfully there is a little waiting area/cafe and you can go back into the exhibit as long as you do not leave the building. A unique experience and definitely a mind blower. Loved the gift shop!

This place is so cool for the entire family. This place is unique and colorful and amazing. It took us about two hours to enjoy this place. They only set back is the parking lot we came in a Saturday didn’t find no space had to park somewhere else. The prices is worth every penny of it. Just don’t take big bags or back packs because there not allowed. I think I saw lockers they might rent to store your bag. They have a small box where u put in your bag to see if it there allowed or not. The workers were very nice. Other than that it was a great experience for us.

Not as big as convergence station but still mind bending and interactive. Do buy tickets online ahead of time and see what day they are open. Google has it that they are open 7 days a week. But they are closed on Tuesday and sometimes Wednesday. Parking is free. They have 2 different lines depending on your time entry. They are busy in the morning when they open at 10. If you come around noon there is hardly a line. No food, drink or firearm in the building. You will go through a metal detector. They do have a cafe inside but they serve mostly snacks and alcohol. No meals. Parents do keep your kids close, it is like a maze in here with hidden doors they can easily get lost. We spent about 1.5 hours here, compared to convergence it was about 3 hours. The art piece is unique and still pretty cool. We enjoyed our experience so much! They just opened one in grapevine, TX and we are headed there next.

By far one of my favorite experiences in the state of New Mexico. If you’re just passing through or live in the area this is a MUST. The exhibits are amazing and they always find a way to keep it interesting. If you’re lucky enough to see a live performance at meow wolf it’s out of this world. I saw Matisyahu at meow wolf and it was one of the best concerts I’ve ever attended. I’ll post some pics of our most recent visit. Love meow wolf this is the least I can do thank you for all the amazing memories!!!

What a fun place!! Fantastic visual arts to keep your eyes busy and full of fantasies. Came on a weekend and there was no waiting line at all. May be a good idea to reserve tickets in advance. We got the glasses for enhanced visual efforts, however just by personal experience they didn't seem to be necessary.

Beautiful, interesting, and inspiring work of interactive art. Unique and 100% worth the ticket price and the time we took to explore the exhibits. We were there two hours and were not able to follow the story/mystery exactly with our toddler along, but that’s okay. It was still a great time. Would do it again.

WOW !!! A Must Visit if in Santa Fe. Great, Unique artwork with amazing floor plan and walk through adventure like pathways. Surprisingly Big inside and if you're into Inspirational, mysterious art, this is for you. There's an actual Mystery house inside. A whole house in the museum.
Highly recommend and definitely worth the price. Easy parking, clean restrooms and eatery area. Check for discounts and promotions.
Super Fun for kids, entertaining for adults.

Very fun interactive experiences! We will return.
It's worth it to the 3D glasses which were an extra $1. The only issue is it's not clear when to use them. We would try different areas or rooms to find out.
The whole place is just one giant play space to explore. So many hidden doors which lead to exciting new rooms.
Scroll through the pictures to get an idea is what the rooms and areas are like. Words don't do it justice.

Very fun experience this was the first Meow Wolf my husband and I have visited. I love the Meow Wolf museums. We had a great time here and it was cool discovering all of the hidden passageways. This theme was like a house. Be sure to open every door and don’t be afraid to touch everything because it helps discover a lot. I did not follow along with the story line to help with finding clues throughout the museum, but if we go back I definitely will. Don’t be afraid to ask the employees questions they are more than happy to help.

I went to Convergence in Denver so I was really excited to come to the original in Santa Fe.. I suggest you watch the documentary and then go. I bought the documentary there so I watched it after. I love all the visual and textural art in meow wolf and I plan to go to the Vegas exhibit soon. I was fortunate to be driving cross country so I made the stop in Santa Fe it was so worth it. I arrived just in time for the most beautiful sunset.

So if you're reading this, trying to decide if you want to do it...DO IT! It is an absolutely amazing experience. I spent 3½ hours exploring and following the story. There is so much to do and see here. We went on a weekday so it wasn't too crowded but I imagine it would be really crowded on the weekends. The parking lot is kind of small, so make sure you arrive a little early to make sure you can park and still make your ticket time. We stopped in to see what the gift shop had to offer, but the prices were way too high for me, so we skipped it and took lots of pictures. Every turn and every doorway holds a different adventure to explore. This is the second Meow Wolf that I've been to so far. I started in Las Vegas at Omega Mart and waited a year, then came here. I'm going to Denver to experience Convergence Station this weekend, and maybe in a year or so, I'll wrap it up with a visit to Dallas until they decide to build a new Meow Wolf.

Great experience. So much to do and see inside. Lots of nooks and crannies to explore, awesome installations to admire, well crafted flow through as well. Great gift shop and there is an alcohol area too with some food, but the restaurants around
are cheaper. Overall recommended if you like being blown away.

Your eyes won't be able to get enough of all the scenery that you will experience in this exhibit. Wow is one way to describe it... Unforgettable is another way to describe it... With the right company you can truly have an amazing time anywhere you go but a place like this it's hard not to have the best time.
Carey Marie — Google review
Great place to explore for a few hours. Buy tickets in advance. Lots of parking. You can go inside before your allotted time to enjoy the cafe and the giftshop. Lockers inside to store items. Once inside the experience it's fairly dark and there are tight spaces, steps and areas you have to crawl through. Lots of things to see and there is a bit of a mystery to solve (not required). Recommended if in town.

Wow is all that you can say to this place it is so much fun. Went with my stepdaughter her mom our g-baby, sister in law daughter went to the 2:40 slot. Let me tell you if you go to any of their establishments. It's better to get your tickets online. Because they go fast and there will be a long line. While you wait in line, there is chalk for adults and kids to draw on the sidewalks while you wait 😁 We didn't wait in line too long because it moves pretty fast. When you walk in, they search your bags or purses. There is no outside food or water. They have a cafe, or you can get drinks and water. Also, you can pay for glasses to brighten your experience as you're going through the place😲 This is an interactive place there are twists and turns, Refrigerators and washer that you can walk through and slide down.😁 There are also bones from a dinosaur that you can play like a xylophone it's really a unique experience😉 Enjoy looking and the pictures🤗 Oh I forgot if you ever get to the payphone, pick it up and you will be talking to more people in another meowolf in another state. It was so cool we were at the one in Santa Fe but when we picked up the phone the other people were in oklahoma😁 How Cool is that!!🫡
Jarion Allen — Google review
My mother and I went, it wasn’t as big as it looks in the YouTube videos, however it was extremely fun and worth the money. The set design is amazing and very immersive. The story line is fun to follow, and even though I did a minimal amount of reading into it, I still had a great time and was able to follow the story. There is plenty to do while you’re there. Our first time through the exhibit, we just looked around, and then went to the gift shop and cafe before heading back into the exhibit. I would recommend eating before going since the only food available inside are snacks, but there was an amazing taco truck out front that we ate at after we were finished. There are tight spaces and some areas to crawl through, but don’t let that discourage you from going, there are multiple and easier ways to get through to the same places, and a ton of places to sit down.

I've been to the Meow Wolf: Convergence Station in Denver, CO which is 90,000sq ft versus Meow Wolf: House of Eternal Return which is 20,000sq ft here in Santa Fe, NM.
I love both, the feeling in the Denver one is quite large and spacious but there's pros and cons to each location.
Meow Wolf Santa Fe had significantly less people than Meow Wolf Denver, by a massive margin. If you're looking for a little bit more of a close-knit abstract art adventure, then you will love the Santa Fe location, and if you're looking for a large story with a lot more lore to it then the Denver location is for you. There is a story behind the Santa Fe location but I would say its much more focused compared to the Denver location.
I want to say the employee's name was Nikki, an older woman with glasses, was very friendly, she talked to my family and I about the story, I ran into her a few times and she was an absolutely wonderful employee. I also talked to Oliver and Sean (apologies if the spelling is wrong), they were both awesome as well, very friendly staff, I have no complaints. I talked to everyone I ran into.
We went into every single room, we spent about 3 hours there, we solved one of the secret puzzles, and we played around with the music lasers for awhile. One thing I really loved about the Santa Fe location was the abundance of comfortable seating throughout, whereas the Denver location is way more crowded and not a lot of seating in comparison.
The café seating was super comfortable, the prices are a little high for food and drink but absolutely delicious. You may want to hide your wallet if you step into the gift shop, they have some very expensive clothing pieces, outrageous if you ask me, but they have some really cool stickers/pins/magnets which I purchased.
I would come back, and I would recommend it to others.

If you want to do something intriguing, bizarre, and engaging, this is the place for you. Most reviewers say you'll spend around 2 to 4 hours here. We spent about 5 hours. It surely didn't feel like it.
So there is a mystery to be solved with the missing family. You don't have to try to figure it out, but it's pretty fun. There's a whole lot of reading to do (we read some, not everything) and watch the videos. You can scan QR codes to get the info.
There's also a separate scavenger hunt. You get four questions, but they only start you off with one question. Once you show proof of your answer, they give you the next question.
So many rooms. So many hidden rooms. The artwork is crazy good and creative. This is a very interactive experience.
If you need a break, you can go to the cafe and get something to drink or get a snack. I got a "Meowgarita". Love the cotton candy on the drink.
Overall, one of the most entertaining places we've been to in Santa Fe. There is so much to see and experience here. Highly recommend!

Well, this is the OG location! We've been to the Vegas and Denver exhibits, and this is the one that started it all.
Much like the other locals, get ready for eye and mind candy. The rooms are all unique exhibits, and the theme loosely links them all together.
Tons to see and do, plenty of secret doors and rooms. Cafe food is good and the staff was a joy. Now there's just 1 left to visit, Grapevine.

Absolutely unforgettable experience. The most unique art exhibit and experience I've ever had! Highly recommend for art and creative who want to see art and new mediums of art! Endless fun and diversity. It's engaging with some musical exhibits visuals. Even has some places to sit and rest as it's pretty big. Would defintley go back. They have a musical venue. A cafe to eat and a store. The one downside is it's very expensive so just be prepare for that. Eat in advance so you can stay long. They don't allow food or drinks and you have to go through a metal detector security. They have free parking available as well as bathrooms.

What an experience! Tons of people. Definitely buy tickets in advance. Gift shop has lots of stuff but very expensive. Plan on a minimum of 2 hours to explore, more if you can do it. Kids may get bored, and over stimulated, so be ready. Lots to see and do; download the app for an even more in-depth excursion. Simply delightful. Go and enjoy.

Had a great time with the kids and husband. It was an amazing experience and I loved it! Must go see! It’s worth the money. You will want to stay for hours! It’s takes along time to get thru it all. Very cool.

I loved this place! All the different art and artist were amazing. The only thing was that even though they gave you a lot of time, I felt it was a little unorganized. I thought since you had to pick a time for a ticket, they had different groups, but no, that wasn't the case. Just to try and read the mailbox took up so much time because it was a line. So we didn't get to follow the timeline because at each point, there would be a line or someone reading notes. But other than that, it was a really good experience.

8 year old daughter and 42 year old mom loved! Very impressed! Super sad we only had 3 hours! Next time will purchase early morning tickets so we can play all day! They have lockers to store stuff so you can play, as well as a cafe and very fun souvenir shop!

I heard this was the best one in the country and don't get me wrong it's good, but it wasn't very big. The live DJ was badass though and everyone dancing, the vibe was just kickass! 10 out 10 recommend.

I reluctantly brought my son here as a trade-off for a week of museums and galleries. I loved it! If you're a fan of creative expression and carnival fun houses you will love it too. Tip: go head first through the dryer. 😉

Having been to the one in Denver, we were very excited to see the original. It dis not disappointing, and there was a lot of trippy and thought-provoking things to see and interact with.....like entering the fridge.
We had a great time, really enjoyed it and would recommend. It was closed the the first time we went to Santa Fe so was glad we got to experience it this time.
Former location of an Indian village, Spanish mission, Civil War battlefield & Greer Garson's ranch.
Arriving into the town where the park was at, there was two options. The historical park and the state park. I wasn't sure which one to go to, so we chose to go with the higher rated location. Arriving at the historical park, it looked small and not much other then the gift shop. It has a little museum in it with some great Native American artifacts. We decided to try the trail and found that the Pueblo was not only real but accessible. It was an incredible site and experience something that's been up for such a long time. Beautiful environment and so very thankful we decided to go this amazing place.

We visited during the wildfires, so only the Ancestral Sites Trail was open. But that turned out to be perfect! It was warm out, so the quick 1.5 mile round trip trail was perfect. We loved reading all of the information and seeing the historical sites. Very cool! I highly recommend it! And if you’re bringing a stroller or wheelchair, this is a great path for you as well!

Enjoyed our visit to Pecos National Historical Place. The visitors center provided an excellent introduction through a series of thoughtful exhibits. Appreciated that many exhibits had items to touch and feel that would engage children in the content. There is also a short orientation film. From the visitors center there is a self guided trail of about 1 1/4 miles through the ancestral sites It's done in packed gravel. There's a slight elevation gain of 80 feet. For those who find that too much you can drive up to a second parking lot by the church and explore that area.

The only word that really comes to mind is wow. A history lesson on top of live ruins and absolutely gorgeous landscape all around. 1.25 mi hike, which was very easy. Our entire party had on hiking boots but they really are not required (although they do come in handy if you don't want to stain your regular walking shoes with red clay). The weather was perfect on the day we visited. There is no charge to enter, although I highly recommend the $2.00 booklet which takes you through the 15 or so stations giving the history of the area. The remains of the Pueblo style Pecos church were quite gorgeous. You can spend about an hour and a half here pretty easily taking it all in. This was sort of an afterthought, discovered when we were driving from Carlsbad to Santa Fe. Honestly, I think we would have missed out on either the second or third coolest thing that we did the entire trip had we not discovered this place. This is not a gigantic National Park so it will not consume half of the day or more. But you will be thankful that you decided to stop and take in the beauty. My 9-year-old was able to get a junior ranger patch here. All of the park rangers are very friendly, and this is definitely a hidden gem of a National Park.

What a wonderful place to commune with nature while honoring the history & culture of the area's indigenous People! Such a well preserved park, along with it's ruins, native foliage & wildlife...
The views along the trails were absolutely breath-taking. Highly recommend this park for history buffs, nature lovers, future conservationists & the those who gravitate to spiritual or shamanistic places to connect with the Past while appreciating one's Present.
Noted: Though the Park continues to upkeep the grounds & it's ruins, I'd like to see the local gov't office provide their grounds keepers a suitable place to stow away the materials necessary to maintain it-- out of plain sight-- so the trails & the views it holds remain the focus of one's experience. ^=^
Don't forget to stop by the visitor center & gift shop for your memorabilia! They offer tours & historical movie shows to learn more about this little gem just outside of the Pecos National Park.

Absolutely stunning. Hit the visitor's center and buy the $2 self-guided booklet. Walk the VERY easy 1.2m path and read each of the keyed locations as you do. Soak in the history and beauty of the pueblo... it's a must visit.

The whole area is such a historic place and a crossroad for such different civilizations throughout history. It is totally worth the time to visit it. Just have in mind that the whole trail is up in a hill and it can change between windy, sunny, chilly, rainy, all at the same day during the same hiking! Don't miss the chance to go down the kivas...

What a great park! Very nice visitors center with shop, museum, and theater! The loop is short and has many different structures to see and explore. I learned a lot as well using the trail guide they have available for use. We even saw coyotes while on the trail. Highly recommend if you are in the area!

We really enjoyed our visit to this historical park. The park rangers are so informative. The $2 walking guide available at the information center is a must have. It helps explain each marker along the way and helps you envision what life was like here long ago.

Amazing! Check it out if you have a chance. Before you get started, buy the $2 trail guide in the visitor's center - worth it! The rangers and volunteers were especially friendly and helpful.

A fascinating and beautiful place to be sure. It's like taking a step back into time. You can walk the grounds & reflect on the culture and daily life that played out here hundreds of years ago and take in the remenents of the amazing large scale structures that were once here. Definitely worth the stop if you are in the Santa Fe area!

Great National Park close to Sante Fe. Recently reopened with excellent, updated exhibits to reflect a more complete and accurate accounting of the hundreds of years of occupation by the native Pueblo peoples. I was able to walk through the ruins with my dog and enjoyed exploring the underground Kiva. Very knowledgeable park rangers and an excellent gift chop. Highly recommended.

Solemn and beautiful. Excellent small museum as well. Well worth the trip. To walk near the ruins where others lived centuries before and to contemplate the fates of the people and families who lived there and passed through is a deep experience not to be missed.

This is a very cool park. If you can join a ranger walk I’d highly recommend it. The movie and museum were both very well done. The trails are easy but somewhat challenging with a stroller or wheelchair due to the rock and inclined. There is RV parking for about 4 rigs although I’m not sure if you would be able to access the further picnic area. The staff is very friendly

Located in a beautiful setting. The site has a Catholic church partial ruins. There are also ruins of indigenous people. The visitor center has some beautiful displays and very knowledgeable rangers to explain the history of the area.

Nice museum where you'll learn a lot about the region and the people that have inhabited it over the years.
Friendly Rangers. Clean bathrooms. Fantastic gift shop. Shaded picnic areas.

A place of spectacular beauty. It's worth visiting for the trails, the museum and historical sites.
The Museum of International Folk Art is a huge folk art museum in Santa Fe with a collection from over 150 countries. It's one of the most popular museums in town, and it's definitely worth checking out if you're ever in the area.
This was an unexpectedly fun museum with an astounding collection of miniatures of folk art from around the world. An astounding collection of over 106,000 items donated by Alexander Gerard from his personal collection. In addition there are other rotating exhibits.

I've been to a good number of museums and this is among one of the best museums I've ever been to! I've always had a keen interest in folk art and mythology and had no idea such a museum existed until I did the research for my trip to NM.
At first, I assumed there was only one (very impressive) room of collections from around the world so, I took my own sweet time until my husband gently reminded me that there were other rooms to check out! And I had already spent more than an hour in this first room. Needless to say, I had to go through most other exhibits a little faster since we had limited time on our hands. I did enjoy the Japanese mythology/horror exhibit a lot! The #mask exhibit was very cool too. On the whole, I was incredibly happy that I visited this place and hope to come back another time to re-experience it with ample time to do so. A must see for those who love mythology/miniature models/folk art and enjoy experiencing different cultures through this thematic lens.

A must see!!! The building is located on a hill and the views are amazing.
The Common Ground exhibit blew our minds!!! The setting for the figurines collections is mind blowing. So many countries are included in this exhibit.
The Mexican paper exhibition is another highlight.
There are 2 gift stores that offer an amazing selection of products, from cards to Christmas ornaments to clothing and house wears.
Don't miss it!!!

Wonderful museum of folk art from around the world. I loved the miniature room. I think Walt Disney must have been inspired by this man’s art when creating the It’s a Small World ride at Disneyland. Or maybe the other way around. In any case—very interesting collection.

What a cool museum!! A friend and I took our babies here and walked around. There’s a ton of things to look at. So many miniature scenes. I loved it. It’s a great place to take kids. Plus there’s an awesome gift shop and a museum cafe nearby. I will be coming back a lot!

Anyone who loves art should see this museum. I found myself marveling over weaving techniques for corn husks one moment, and the next I was leaning in to peer at the intricacies of beadwork. My father visited decades ago with his mother and says that the museum has grown into a beautiful, mature venue.
The geek in me was so pleased to see that they included manga and anime into one corner, and even featured a fun Japanese style haunted house.
The gift shop was lovely and filled with unique memorabilia and gifts.
Outside, there looks to be an American style eatery just across the courtyard, and a contemplative maze to walk in silence. Once you get to the center, though, give a yell to experience the otherworldly effects!

PRO's: The Museum of International Folk Art is a testament to collecting of a wide variety of artworks from many nations. Take a look at the photos to see if you would enjoy spending an hour touring the museum. Adult admission is $12 and parking is free.
CON's: None really, a small quibble would be a need for changing the exhibits more often.
SUMMARY: We return to the Museum of International Folk Art at least once a decade when we visit Santa Fe New Mexico.

Heads-up to other moms/families-- the community events are UNSAFE for strollers! 😬 I loved coming here before I had my daughter, and tried coming for a free, supposedly family-friendly event, since I recently discovered my infant daughter seems to love folk art as much as I do. They always have a lot of people directing traffic at their events, and I sort of assumed they had some sort of system in place for making sure it's safe for people with strollers and other wheeled apparatus to get from the parking to the museum... well, they don't! I told the parking attendants I had a stroller, and they directed me to the furthest lot from the museum and told me there was a dirt path to walk to the other overflow lot from there. I tried this path, and there were large mounds of loose dirt that slid steeply downhill-- not safe even for my all-terrain stroller, so (after telling the attendant, who didn't seem to care, that the path was too steep for my stroller) I got out on the street, but as I passed another attendant there, he was allowing cars to continue to the lower lots, which was terrifying, as the road I was trying to push my stroller down had no shoulders and lots of blind curves (and now traffic in both directions)! Also, it doesn't show well in the photo, but the terrain off the side of the road falls down a hill more and more the further you go.
I'd like to suggest to the museum that they either reserve some space in the closer lots for parents of young babies, or else have some system to allow parents to wait for a spot that would be safer. For parents of kids who need strollers, I'd suggest coming before an event starts (we came in the middle of an event because kiddo tires easily and I knew we weren't staying long, plus I wanted her to see the dancers that were starting an hour in). If you can take your kid in a carrier, do, although I'm not sure I'd feel safe on the steep dirt hills with my kid in a carrier, either. Anyway, I'm disappointed that I'm not feeling like it will be safe to take my daughter to events here till she's really comfortable walking, which won't be for awhile. That stinks, because she really enjoyed seeing the art and the dancers 😕
Editing to say I still love the museum and appreciate that they even bother having free community events, I just wish they'd be a little more thoughtful about accessibility for all types of families.

What a treat this museum is! An exhaustive collection of art work from all over the world and the special shows were the cherry on top - particularly enjoyed the Piñata exhibit and paper mache art and the associated history; the Japanese Yokai exhibit on ghosts, demons, monsters was also great!
Lot of interactive exercises that kept the kids busy and seemed like a lot of fun!
The gift shop has some unique items from all over the world and was great to explore - almost like a treasure hunt.
Plan for at least 3 hours for your visit. Maybe even plan for 4 hours if you are with kids.
Also don’t forget to look up else you will miss some great artwork

Canyon Road is a picturesque street in Santa Fe, New Mexico that is home to over 100 art galleries, studios, and restaurants. The area is especially rich in Native American arts and crafts, with many galleries exhibiting stunning pieces of artwork. The street has a distinctly more residential feel, making it easy to walk around without having to fight traffic. Two fine dining restaurants are located on the street as well as one popular chocolate house.
Canyon Road is an enjoyable walk to visit many art galleries and studios.

The Inn & Spa at Loretto is a luxurious property with pueblo-inspired architecture and a spa, pool, and chic restaurant. The property is perfect for those looking to escape the everyday hustle and bustle of life. With its beautiful architecture and convenient location, the Inn & Spa at Loretto is a must-stay for anyone visiting Santa Fe.
We had an absolutely amazing stay at the Loretto Inn & Spa. The staff was professional, attentive, sweet and super helpful. We met for a last minute girls trip from all over the country and did minimal planning. The staff went above and beyond to help us plan and enjoy our stay. The hotel was beautiful, clean, a short walk to a bunch of great restaurants and has an amazing breakfast. We can’t wait to come back with the whole family.

We stayed in the Pueblo Double room at the Inn and Spa at Loretto and it was comfortable with plenty of room for the two of us. It had all of the amenities that we desire. The service from the valets, front office, restaurants and shops was excellent. The location is ideal as the Loretto Chapel adjoins the property. It's a short walk to the Plaza, La Fonda and many shops and restaurants. There is a lounge area with a full bar, fireplace and had entertainment two of the nights we stayed there.

We spent nearly two weeks in June and had a very enjoyable experience. The staff were friendly and keen to provide a good service. Special thanks to Josh and his Front Desk Team for ensuring that we stayed in our preferred room as soon as it was available. Pamela, as on a previous visit, was especially helpful.

BEWARE - this hotel is writing, posting, and responding to reviews on this and other platforms.
I ended up checking out a night early and changing my flight back to dc to get away. The room left a lot to be desired. It was dim, not soothing dim - dark dim. They’re also dated. I understand maintaining a vibe, but there’s a way to do it and keep it fresh.
As for he rest of the hotel…. The spa has no nail tech, so the spa is essentially somewhere to get a massage. The pool and hot tub were being rebuilt, and in addition to them not saying that up front - they charge a 30/night amenity fee for amenities you can’t use.
The manager didn’t respond to my email, and the front desk will put you on hold and never pick up. Don’t stay here y’all.. there are other places to stay in Santa Fe - stay there

Loved our room (basic but comfy). The service was good and above par. We had a lot of interaction with the valet guys because we brought our bikes along. They were helpful and informative. Splurged on a $300 massage. While the massage was good...no spa facilities were offered (sauna, pool, shower?) We really enjoyed the happy hours offered by the hotel and the ability to meet other travelers. We stayed four nights and recommend it to anyone traveling in the area.

First of all, we loved our stay at the hotel. Great lobby and bar, and our room was perfect. Clean, cozy, sunny, and four-poster bed.
But here's the cool part. I was speaking yesterday with Tracy, one of the concierge pro's. I mentioned that I was hoping to ski while we were in town. Tracy told me all about this excellent local ski area called Ski Santa Fe. Really good terrain.
Anyway, this morning, I went up there, and guess who I ran into in the lift line... Tracy!
He gave me a personal tour of the resort. We skied the whole time until I had to get back to town. This was the best ski day I've had for years.
Best of all, Tracy is an awesome skier. I could hardly keep up. Thank you, Tracy!!

I have mixed feelings about this hotel. Excellent location, and the hotel is nice; but is best suited for older clients. We had so much hit & miss here, that it makes a good or bad review hard. We visited in the winter and the hot tub was broken, so they told us we could walk across the street to another hotel. The restaurant, Luminaria, is good, but nothing to overly brag about. Things close really early or open late, so be prepared to visit other hotels for drinks and food. We had a really good time next door at La Fonda. In-hotel amenities are there - but not really accessible at the same time. This hotel prides itself on being historic, but for us, it's a bit too stuffy. You're definitely paying for location here.

Much of my review is a result of the room we were given. I paid for a terrace room, which I envisioned as being a room with a balcony overlooking the city/town. Instead I was given a ground floor room right off of the main lobby "living room", about 30 feet from the piano player. Our terrace was a 2' x 10' enclosed patio adjoined the parking lot. The room had some spiders / bugs in the corners (which isn't housekeeping's fault) but wasn't what you want to see in a luxury hotel. Location was decent, staff was pleasant. Will likely not stay there again.

Location is excellent, within a block of downtown. Hotel decor looks somewhat worn considering the resort fee and room prices. Hotel pool is still being renovated after a year, pool and gym are available at a sister property. The check-in process is not streamlined, ask for complementary coffee credit as it will be forgotten. Hotel restaurant options are well presented, although service is slow. Happy hour is very popular. Valet service is friendly and well-informed on local activities.

Great stay and amazing staff, but I wish I could say the same about the security of the area. When walking outside the main entrance of the Loretto at night, you may feel a bit unsafe since there's occasional homeless and sketchy people walking near the premise. I think it's important to have security patrolling the area at night, specifically on Old Santa Fe Trail, to make make guests feel more comfortable.

Booked 3 rooms ( family trip) and for most of our stay - 2 of those rooms had toilets that wouldn’t flush!!!!! so GROSS!!!!! Had to have “Engineering” come by 4 times!! This seriously impacted our Tours. The food in the main Restaurant was terrible for Dinner, practically inedible…. NOT much better for Breakfast…. Other than that…and being in need of a serious updating… it is centrally located, which makes bopping around the Downtown area of Santa Fe- a breeze. On the upside- Arturo at the Bar was wonderful!

We loved the Inn and Spa at Loretto! In particular, we loved the shops inside the hotel, the cute little coffee shop, Josh at the front desk, who was super helpful, with restaurant recommendations, and ideas on things to see and do, the bartender and ambiance in the Living room Bar, the large, comfortable room, and the location - so close to the Plaza! It feel like a quiet, high end hotel very close to all of the fun in Santa Fe! The only bummer is that the pool area is under construction, so not usable now, but it looks like it will be a beautiful space when it opens!

We had the greatest experience on our girls trip. The staff was all so extremely kind and generous, especially Hal. As soon as we checked in Hal greeted us and told us everything about the town, where to go dine and the places to see. He went out of his way to get us reservations, at an already booked restaurant, and spoiled us the entire trip. It felt like we were visiting family. Each night we would spend time in the lounge area by the fireplace and listen to the live music. The location is perfect to walk anywhere Georgia O'Keefe museum, MONA, Farmer's Market, restaurants, churches and shopping!

The Inn is well taken care of and it shows in the cleanliness of the Lobby, Rooms, Grounds and Restaurants. It’s evident that the ownership and staff take great pride in their Inn and strive to give great service. The room was perfect and exceeded our expectations in every way. I visited for a work conference. The hotel is clearly billing itself as an upscale experience, but the service doesn’t reflect that.
The valet didn't know what event was being held that day and was dismissive. The front desk staff member seemed bored. The catered breakfast was decent.
The location is great and the hotel is a nice building with services and shops scattered throughout.
I'd likely find another hotel when visiting for pleasure because of the staff, especially the valet.

Location is fantastic and most things are walkable. Valet guys were great, knowledgeable and fast. You're forced into valet if you drive. The Hotel is beautiful and lots of photo op areas in the front.
The room was VERY dusty, like I was able to see the dust stuck to the tv that has been there so long it would be hard to remove. The bed was very comfortable but the down pillows held onto a lot of allergens and made for a rough week. The patio was cool but the doors didn't lock or shut properly so when the wind blew it would leak into the room. The toilet handle nearly feel off and my partner had to screw it back together so we could flush. Did I feel the room was worth what I paid for it, no. Did we mostly enjoy our stay, yes.

Very nice old hotel in the heart of Santa Fe next door to the Loretto Chapel. The rooms are spacious, but baths are a bit dated. The beds are extremely comfortable, however. The little kiva fireplace is quaint, and service was exquisite. The meeting facilities were top-notch and a great place for a retreat. The hotel rooms have balconies with chairs and a table.

This hotel was one of the best we’ve stayed at AND ITS HAUNTED!
When we first arrived we were greeted by the valet who were awesome and at the front desk was Naomi who my partner and I both thought was one of the best hotel staff people we’ve ever met. Naomi was professional, naturally friendly and knowledgeable. She was quick and just had an over all good vibe.
The first few minutes in our room we kept hearing knocks at the door. But when we checked no one was there. I immediately realized that this old hotel must be haunted. So I went ahead and spoke out loud to the spirit and let them know that we come in peace and wouldn’t be staying long and that they are welcome in the room with us. The knocks stopped. No more haunting.
Santa Fe is gorgeous. I hope everyone gets the chance to visit and stay at the Inn and Spa at Loretto

Location perfect, price reasonable, service friendly and accommodating, with comfy beds and hot showers! Read a few reviews that stated rooms were outdated. I have to disagree, maybe they are renovating some rooms, not sure. However, we got 2 adjoining rooms - one king and one double - both were decorated tastefully in modern southwest decor. Bar in lobby was also nice with fireplace and large space to sit and relax. Also dog friendly. Highly recommend!

I have not stayed here before… BUT when I was in Santa Fe I saw the exterior of the hotel and it was awesome! It really did look like a Pueblo house. And it’s in a great location! Good job Inn and Spa at Loretto!
This imposing cathedral, built between 1869 and 1886, is a beautiful example of the Romanesque Revival style. It features lovely stained glass windows and towering Corinthian columns, and its interior is quite austere. The Chapel of Lady of the Rosary is all that remains of an earlier adobe church at this site.
Exquisite! Perfectly lovely inside. Quiet, clean, and expertly cared for. Amazing and beautiful. Church is from 1715 but looks new. Free admission, donations can be made. Please look at all the nooks and crannies. The stain glass is fantastic. Look up to see the massive pipe organ.

St. Francis is a gorgeous Cathedral. For those visiting Santa Fe it is a must visit. The downside is it is bustling with tourists. Thankfully Missy don’t stay long, but the stream of people is continuous. The only semi-quiet place I could find, sit and pray, meditate was the chapel area to the right of the altar where the confessionals are.
While there, I recommend walking there grounds, Prayer Garden, and the adjacent park.

If you’re a reader, I highly recommend reading Death Comes For the Archbishop by Willa Cather before visiting - the novel is based on the life of Archbishop Jean Baptiste Lamy who was instrumental in building the cathedral.

There are also all types of street performers busking throughout the plaza each and every day. You will find Native Americans selling all types of items from art to jewelry to souvenirs right there on the sidewalk. I recently visited between Christmas and the New Year and the holiday lights in the trees were extra fun and festive at night. Also, all the best museums, restaurants, and galleries are in walking distance from the Plaza. If you visit Santa Fe, you definitely have to visit the Santa Fe Plaza. You will not be disappointed.

Neat little town area. The parking was not too difficult or expensive but very crowded on a Sunday. The downtown is walkable and lots of people have dogs.
There are tons of great stores but bring your savings because they are $$$. I got a tiny seed pot for $30.
The square itself was impeccably maintained and had a great atmosphere. On my random day visiting, there were native dancers, lots of locals, a guy with parrots and a small pro-Ukraine rally.
All the buildings are gorgeous and it was very nice to visit for 4 hours or so. Highly recommended to stop in town and park at the hourly parking lot.

This is a fun stop if you’re in Santa Fe! There’s a lot of local artists, shops and restaurants. I parked on the street which only cost $2 for 2 hours. There is also a nice courtyard in the center to sit down if you need a break from the walking.

This is my first time visiting Santa Fe and the downtown plaza, and I had a relaxing time eating, shopping, and enjoying the sunshine. I came in January during a staffing shortage so half the restaurants were closed but I still found some good spots. I felt safe in the daytime, but at night there are plenty of homeless people sleeping in all the dark nooks and alleys. I wouldn't walk alone after dark if possible. I also never saw a single police officer or police car in my 3 days there. I would've felt safer with a larger police presence.

Always a beautiful experience. It’s been a couple years since we’ve been to the square for an event or gathering but this year we decided to visit Santa Fe for New Years Eve! There was a fireworks show, and although it had started snowing about an hour before midnight, the countdown did not disappoint! The city has the streets blocked off and a stage set up on the far corner, a woman sang the National Anthem and it was such a wonderful evening. The next morning they had workers clearing the square from all the snow so pedestrians could safely walk and mingle.

I have been here many times and each time feel great here. I don't care if it is busy or dead, cold or hot it always has an atmosphere that makes everything seem to melt away.
This time was a little cold, but it was still cozy. What makes this great is the shops around. It makes the actual plaza feel more spacious. Plenty of benches to just people watch if you don't want to spend money.
This is a great place and is even better with Christmas decorations

Great place to visit, Santa Fe Plaza is a beautiful part of the city. Architecture is beautiful and lots of art and souvenir shops are in the area. Price for souvenirs is slightly cheaper in Old Town Albuquerque. Not too far from Santa Fe Railyard but decent distance from non touristy part of Santa Fe. Parking on side streets is strictly enforced by the city with parking inspectors even working on Saturday evenings.. cost to park is hourly (max 2 allowed) and inexpensive..

Beautiful center of our city of faith. Many events take place here, tourist adventure about and locals businesses hold culture and hospitality at highest priority. The plaza is marvelous!

We were at the plaza just before Halloween and there was a public event with the concert in the park. The shops are very nice and cute. The fall colors of the trees are just so interesting so much history around us.

Santa Fe Plaza is quite small. It would be fairly easy to access everything on foot if you stay at one of the hotels downtown. Lovely food, shops, jewelry. Beware of the cosmetic sales people, they are very persuasive/pushy and are in the street trying to lure you in. They were kind but high pressure AND all sales ARE FINAL, but they dont tell you that).
It's a wonderful city to visit. I would recommend La Boca resturant for an afternoon of wine and a wonderful food experience.
The Georgia O'Keeffe Museum is located in Santa Fe, New Mexico and is dedicated to the artistic legacy of Georgia O'Keeffe. It has over 3,000 works including 140 OKeeffe oil paintings and nearly 700 drawings dating from 1901 to 1984.
Fantastic experience at the museum. She has such an incredible life, fearless, and reinvented herself multiple times.
The nature paintings are fabulous.
The staff is very knowledgeable and helpful.

Overall good museum, but also slightly disappointing. Was hoping to find more info/historical artifacts about her personal life. Did enjoy the video interview back in the 1980s, when she was in her 90s. Paintings were beautiful and nice gift shop.

I visited on 3/11/22 and all I have to say is, "WOW, PERFECTION!"
The variety of masterpieces present us with an all-inclusive experience of the vast and amazing life that Georgia O'Keeffe lived and continues to share.
To people who say that the entrance fee is too much, I say, you didn't slow down and truly take-in the magnificence before you. As Georgia O'Keeffe said, "..take time to look."

Stunning museum from one of art's true masters, Georgia O'Keeffe. Incredible exhibition. Varied history including her paints, brushes and visual history. The art is much more appreciated in person rather than a book. Her technique is superb in every visual way. One looks at deserts, flowers and the sky in such a a different manner. It's an incredible inspiration for anyone. The treasure of New Mexico.

This museum is on the smaller side but worth the visit. There was no wait in line, and the price was ~$22 for entry. The gift shop is well stocked, and the bathrooms were clean. We spent a little over an hour and a half inside. We also saw a cute dog on the way out.

Wow! I've been wanting to visit the Georgia O'Keefe museum ever since my first trip to Santa Fe. I really enjoyed learning about the talents of the artist and to be able to view the Southwest through her perspective and all of her incredible art. I was uplifted and inspired.
The museum was extremely busy and crowded. I appreciate that the entries are staggered in order to limit the number of guests there at a time. The only I was disappointed by was the other patrons that were there the day I visited because there didn't seem to be much respect for the artist or the other patrons visiting. I would really love to spend a lot more time exploring when it's less crowded.

Dream come true! Beautiful museum and you will need to get advanced time tickets. Bring earbuds for a little tour through full of information. It's a wonderful experience. Also parking is expensive but stay for lunch or dinner, stroll through town to feel you got your money's worth!

We had a good time. The museum was small. They change out paintings four times a year. I am partial to flower paintings. When we visited there were not many flower paintings. There is a gift shop to visit. You do have to make reservations. We found a parking lot that was close.

What an amazing museum! This museum has a comprehensive collection of Georgia O'Keefe's works from the early years to the years before her death. You definitely need to get tickets ahead. We came shortly after open, and the only tickets left were for 3:30 PM. We ended up shopping and hanging out in the area (there is a lot to see around there) until our time. With each piece, there is a detailed description providing historical context to the art. You can also get a guided auto tour if that's more your speed. I came in to this museum without a thorough understanding of her as an artist, and I came out with a new appreciation for her work! A must-visit if you come to Santa Fe!

A tad smaller thanI expected. No senior discount. Tickets are $22.
We arrived w/ about an hour before closing, and didn't miss anything. We like combing the gift shops, snd actually bought some cards.
Nice venue, though many works have low glare glass, still harder to take photos.

A beautiful tribute to the works of a cutting edge woman named Georgia O’Keeffe! An artist, sculpturer and visionary, who was years ahead of her time!
She lived an extraordinary life, painting, nature and spent her late years in the most beautiful area to paint, New Mexico!
Plan about two hours to walk through the museum so you can observe each piece of the Extraordinary collection!

The Museum was an awesome experience. I did not pre purchase so I had to wait for the next time slot to enter but was allowed to purchase. The audio guide I would highly recommend. The woman explaining how to operate the device was very helpful. I thoroughly enjoyed how the art was displayed with younger works towards the beginning to see how she progressed through the years. Any fan of artwork would appreciate these works that are displayed and the admission price was fair for the exhibit and experience.

Beautiful works. I had a small idea of who she was before visiting. After, I realize how influential of an artist she was. The collection at this museum is extensive and gorgeous. They even have some of her tools and paints etc. It was a great visit. If you’re into guided audio tours, they provide headphones and have an online audio guide for a slow paced, narrated walkthrough.

Friendly staff throughout!
Security was great and very knowledgeable!
Kathy was doing spot tours, I highly recommend stopping to chat for more information, she was fantastic!
They offer closed captioning, audio guides, courtesy wheelchairs and color correcting glasses!
They have restrooms, water fountains and a coatroom for personal items!
No pets are allowed except for service animals.
I visited on the first Friday of the month and they were offering free entry from 5pm-7pm!
Stop by the gift shop on your way out they have a great selection!

Yes, there are quite a few pieces here, yet just a couple of what I considered "classic" O'Keefe pieces depicting skulls and flowers. Would've rather gone to her home museum near Abiquiu, I think.

The Georgia O'Keeffe Museum in Santa Fe, New Mexico, stands as a testament to the life and works of one of America's most celebrated artists. Visiting this museum is not merely an excursion into art; it's a journey through O'Keeffe's evolution as an artist and a glimpse into the landscapes and inspirations that shaped her iconic style.
Upon entering the museum, visitors are greeted by a carefully curated collection that spans O'Keeffe's entire career. From her early abstract experiments to her later, more famous works featuring enlarged flowers and New Mexican landscapes, the museum provides a comprehensive look at her artistic progression. The layout of the museum allows for a chronological exploration, offering insight into the influences and experiences that influenced O'Keeffe's artistic vision.
One of the most striking aspects of the museum is its ability to showcase O'Keeffe's mastery of color and form. Her use of vibrant hues and bold compositions captivates viewers, drawing them into the intricate details of her paintings. The museum's lighting and display techniques further enhance the viewing experience, allowing visitors to appreciate the subtle nuances of O'Keeffe's brushstrokes and textures.
In addition to her paintings, the museum also houses a collection of O'Keeffe's personal items, including clothing, tools, and photographs. These artifacts offer a more intimate perspective on the artist, allowing visitors to connect with her on a more personal level and gain insight into her daily life and creative process.
The museum's educational programs and exhibitions add another layer of depth to the experience. From guided tours to interactive workshops, visitors have the opportunity to delve deeper into O'Keeffe's art and legacy. Special exhibitions often feature works by other artists who were influenced by O'Keeffe or explore themes related to her life and work, providing a broader context for understanding her impact on the art world.

Lovely museum. Attached to a functioning courthouse. Looks small from the outside but theres plenty to see on the interior. Small but interesting gift shop section. Admission is free but donations are appreciated. Inside contains the history of the area, as well as a large portion dedicated to Teddy Roosevelt, particularly during his Rough Riders era. Worth the visit! There are also cute downtown areas and other historical locations in town.

How do you tell the difference between an alpaca and a llama? A llama is cute and an alpaca is ADORABLE!! This place is a hidden gem in the area. They have an excellent gift shop with reasonably priced alpaca clothing, blankets, yarn, and many more. The tour was fun as we fed alpaca out of our hands. Impress your friends with an eye to eye alpaca photo. Overall a wonderful time! If I'm ever back in the area I'll be sure to stop by. Absolutely worth the drive from Angel Fire.
While I don't knit, you can buy yard that has a picture of the alpaca it came from. Amazing!

The Victory Ranch is a great place to take the kids; they will get hands-on and up-close interaction feeding these beautiful docile creatures. Make sure to call ahead first; they may not be open that day, or the animals may have just been shaved. I visited here with my parents in 2007.

It is a fun place to take kids. We feed alpacas and learned about them and the working dogs on the tour that they do at the ranch. The owner is super nice and helpful. They have a good selection of alpaca yarn and just aquiered a good selection of standard yarn that they sell.

This was an interesting place to visit. We came when it was a little dreary outside and the lady in the gift shop was very pleasant to us. However, the man who gave us the "tour" was very distant. He wasn't very welcoming and kind of mean. This was a nice place to come for an hour.
Wagon-wheel ruts on the site of 3 successive forts, designated a national monument in 1954.
Interesting historical information, very educational and worth taking 2 hours to enjoy the interpretive trail. Information displays throughout the walk that explained the timeline of use and what daily life was like for enlisted soldiers through the commanders.
Path was packed fine gravel that would be ok for strollers or wheelchairs.

A neat place to explore the historic Fort Union and learn about the Santa Fe trail. There is a long and short trail that tells the story of the Fort with open vistas of the valley and mountains. It was a windy day when we visited, so be prepared for potential gusts.

I thought Fort Union was an awesome stop off of interstate 25. The park rangers at the fort were very informative and had a lot of knowledge on the forts history. We spent about 20 minutes chatting with the ranger about the history of the fort and the surrounding area. I enjoyed seeing the Santa Fe trail ruts and the marker in the center of the fort displaying the altitude above tidewater. Really a cool place, highly recommend.

Beautiful scenery with an easy 1.5 mile walk. You can still see ruins from a distance in the parking lot and there is information indoors as well. Pretty chilly out with a little snow on the ground early March 2024. Sun was shining and there is information about these historic ruins along the trail that explains what each of the buildings were used for when they were functional. Would love to go again and spend a few hours to take it all in.

Excellent history lesson at this National Park site along the Santa Fe Trail. Ruins of the adobe walls are all that remain of the largest Army post at the time west of the Mississippi. Worthy of the short trip off the interstate.

Be sure to visit the office first to take a brochure/map of the trail. No snakes on any of the trails I took luckily but they do warn you could encounter one. It's pretty windy in Aug and also very sunny but it was a nice walk around. Lots to see and intake, souvenir shop also located inside the office and restrooms too. Be sure to take your time and bring covered shoes, there's cactus in the grass too.
This place is amazing, but it is not for the casual camper. First it is 9 miles on a good dirt road to get to the edge of the canyon. Then you have 4 miles drive down a narrow and steep at times dirt/rock road to the valley floor. The campsites are great. They are clean and have a table, fire pit and grill. There are also very nice, clean toilets. However, there is no water available of any kind. There is also no power if you need it and shade is sparce. A pop up canopy is a great addition especially in the summer months. It can get very hot during the day in the canyon. Bring a couple of gallons of water per person per day. There isn't any good river access and in the summer the river is not flowing or inviting. The ruins are interesting and the canyon is spectacular. There are old roads you can use to hike on but there is not a formal trial system. Don't expect to see people either so you need to be ok being alone in the wilderness with no cell signal. Labor Day weekend there was only one other party in the entire park.

Beautiful spot for free camping! Large campsites with picnic tables, grills, fire pits and stalls for horses. Clean bathrooms (no running water.) We stayed at the upper campground in a 25' travel trailer. We hiked down to the lower campground in the canyon. About 7 miles round trip. Bring drinking water.

This canyon is a true hidden gem. Yes, the reviews are true. It's a bit of a trek getting down into the canyon. Has a sign that says RVs and Trailers are not recommended. From pavement to the campsites is over 5 miles at least. There are a few hiking trails, old settlement buildings, and information panels for the canyon. Very well maintained area with very clean vault toilets. This is primitive camping, meaning no water or electricity, so be sure to plan accordingly to enjoy this beautiful place.
Chase Bailey — Google review
Camped by the river on 31 May 23. Only person in the canyon. Sign on the bulletin board said they were considering adding a fee, but it was dated 2022. No fee yet. Good campsites with fire pits, grills and tables. Better have an ATV/4WD if you plan to drive down to the valley campground. Good luck getting a trailer down there, too. The upper campground should be accessible to almost all vehicles, and it has corrals in some of the campsites. There was only 1 vehicle in that campground when I drove through. Worth a slight detour to visit and learn some local history. Beautiful location. Wish I had time to hike some of the trails. Thanks for a great campground!

Ron Peel — Google review
Upper campground is very dry and windswept. Several sites have covered corrals. The road down is an adventure, but no real problems. But it is quite a bit further down and further along, to the bottomland campground. Several miles, the first two being real doozies. The campsites at the bottom are nowhere near the river. A scramble through snake infested underbrush for about 40 yards will get you to the river bank.
John Byrne — Google review
Very nice campground. It takes a while to get there and the road is bumpy so if you don’t have high clearance, drive slowly. The canyon is also real pretty.
Rachel Reed — Google review
I stop here every time I drive across the country. Epically beautiful, generally pretty solitary. If you run into anybody, they're guaranteed to be very interesting.
Warning: the sign at the mouth of the canyon road says "RVs not recommended" I would venture to say that no wheeled vehicle save for a 4-wheeler is recommended, it is very rough and full of switchbacks. There's actually an old Rv trailer that fell into the canyon wedged between some rocks along the path.
The Crown Jewel of the Scouting program!! So much history and so many young people have hiked here and have taken life long memories back with them. Philmont is a unique experience. My family has been involved with scouting for many years and my wife, Daughter and Son have all been participants and have such great experiences. My daughter was so impressed she worked there for 3 summers. My Son also did a Rayado experience. he now works at Northern Tier and has for the last 4 years. If you have a scout and you want to give your scout a life experience, a chance to grow in spirit and into the person that they may become. The hike builds self confidence , self reliance and most of all it builds the scout knowledge of the many jobs they may find themselves performing in thier future. And as in my case test the scouts nerve and inteligency . while at Philemont 3 or 4th day in. I was giving a cooking class and one of the items on the. Menue was a apple pie in a Dutch oven. A few minuets into the meal. We heard loud banging of pans and people yelling I looked up at the group of about 15 scouts that were facing me I could tell by thier expressions something was wrong and I jokingly asked There's a bear behind me isn't there? All of the guys slowly and altogether shook thier heads yes. I slowly moved around the table I was preparing food on. And there about 25 ft.away was a large 400 to 425lbs cinnamon bear. I looked down there was the 3lb bag of apples. Slowly I retrieved the bag. Then I told the scouts if I get his attention I want you all to slowly start down the hill side to the rangers station about a mile away. I threw the first apple it hit the bear on the head bounced off behind it.the best stopped nose up in the air and followed to the apple. It sat and began eating it. I threw about her further behind it then about her soon I had one apple left I.looked all the scouts where gone and I took that moment to slowly start towards the rangers station myself. I saw the bear look at me so I threw the last apple. Pulled my knife cut the rope that was holding our food stored up in a bear bag in a tree and I took off running. Don't know when but by the time I reached the rangers station I had somehow passed the others and beat them down the hillside. Later the rangers had to kill the bear the noise we had heard earlier was when the same bear had come into a campsite and do to candy in a tent a scout had been bitten and severely hurt.
I found my calling that summer I completed my Eagle scout and after finished school I became a law Enforcement officer and had a career That. Philmount truely helped me find.I got to spend my life being there to help and care for my community and knew that if I could face a bear with just a bag of apples facing any situation from that moment on would be easy. And with training and the unity scouting builds in to scouts I was able to use those lessons to build commodity with all the officers I was so blessed to have worked with. Protecting, serving and being a active member of my dept. City community and this wonderful nation despite its political turmoil. When tradgity strikes unity stands tall.in America.
Proud to stand with my brothers and sisters first responders not only fighting a war but continuing to perform thier duties . from the fire fighters EMS and police to thier president.

There is nothing like Philmont - nothing. It's the pinnacle of the Scouting program and the highlight of many scouts' childhoods - my own included. I will always remember my trek (13-7-12-D2) in vivid detail. It was one of the most difficult things I did growing up - living off my back for 12 days - but one of the most rewarding. It took the suburban city boy in me out into the wilderness in a way that no other Scouting experience can. It's hard to isolate what exactly made it so memorable - there was so much. Climbing Baldy and the Tooth, making it to camp just before the thunder and rain rolled in several days in a row, carrying everything you need on your back, and being in a place where cell phones, if we even had them, just didn't work.
Scouts who might be reading this - please, please, please do everything you can to make it out for a trek at Philmont. It doesn't matter who you are - Philmont will make you a better version of yourself in ways you won't imagine, and in ways you won't fully appreciate until years later. It's worth the sacrifice to come out, experience the backcountry, and earn the arrowhead patch.
I'll be back some day. Until then, IWGBTP!

Great place and all that, just keep in mind if you are planning to go there that the gear in the store is relatively cheap, at least compared to the gear in stores that sell similar items. I would recommend waiting until you get there to buy the gear to save a few hundred dollars

Most memorable experience of my life. Went there in early July of this year and it's really an unforgettable experience. This is some of the most strenuous terrain in the country. Me and my crew endured 72 miles of these mountains throughout 12 days.

Philmont was a great experience for me, and I'm sure it would be for any other scout looking for high adventure. I attended the NAYLE (National Youth Leadership Experience) course here, and it was a lot of fun, as well as pointing me in the right direction to improve my leadership skills. I do wish more control was given to the scouts and less teaching was done for scouts with high adventure experience, but the trip was still beneficial. Not to mention the great veiws.

The greatest high adventure camp for Scouts, period. I've been here twice, and I was extremely impressed with the quality of the scenery, the facilities, and most importantly the staff. It doesn't get any better. I will be back, and my son will be in a few years. I'm hopeful that he will want to work on staff.

Called.Disneyland for hikers there is a lot to see here. While you can't go into the back country, you can tour the Villa Philmont built by Waite Phillips in the 1920s before he donated the land to the Boy Scouts and visit the Rayado camp that was a homestead and stop along the Santa Fe trail. Then visit the Seton Museum. Before you leave stop at the Tooth of Time trading post at base camp to pick up outdoor gear or souvenirs. Best of all there is no cost for the tours. Make reservations before you go.

I have had two great treks here! Unfortunately the quality of the closing ceremony was cringy at best. I have many good memories here and tons of fantastic photos. Everyone should come here once if you're into scouting and the outdoors. My bus to pick up my crew from the trail was late so we missed the lunch at Basecamp.
National park featuring a dormant volcano with hiking trails around the base & in the crater.
This is definitely worth a visit. If you are going by on the I-25, its not that far a detour to go. The whole area is fantastic with little craters and peaks. The drive up the volcano is lovely, with amazing views. Once you get to the top, the hiking trail around the rim is a must do, but it is quite strenuous. However its worth it for the views. This really is an amazing landscape and really unique.
The visitor center is nice and the staff are friendly and helpful. We really enjoyed our visit here.

It’s a nice easy drive to the top. Expect high winds. Really great views, but I don’t recommend hiking the rim in 60 mph winds. Inside the bottom of the crater was nice, but not the views for 50 miles

Capulin Volcano National Monument is a unique and fascinating destination for nature lovers and outdoor enthusiasts. The volcano is an ancient cinder cone volcano that offers a great hike to the rim, and the views are spectacular. The visitor center is a great starting point to learn about the volcano's geology and history. The park staff is very knowledgeable and friendly. I highly recommend a visit to Capulin Volcano National Monument for anyone looking for a unique outdoor experience. The park also offers great opportunities for bird watching and wildflower viewing.

I have been wanting to stop here for decades. I finally did it, and it was better than expected. I showed up at 8:30 on a clear morning. I hiked the rim and into the crater. Such amazing views, especially with the snow covered mountains in the background. Really cool.
I enjoyed watching the deer run around in the crater.

How often do you get to drive to the top of a volcano, get out and hike the rim or go down into the vent? Stunning views. Rocky mountains to the north and volcanoes and lava flows to the west.
Staff at the center are awesome and very knowledgeable. Say hi and learn about the area.

Great place for a quick hike around a volcano. I highly recommend the short walk down to the crater. We would to have loved to have hiked some other trails (like the rim of the volcano) but the wind was out of control the day we went.
The drive to the crater is kind of intense as you drive the mildly windy road with a drop off and hardly any guardrails…though the scenic views of New Mexico are picturesque and worth it!
Can be a quick trip and hike down to the crater, just a drive up to the crater, or a day trip spent hiking and exploring the volcano.

Beautiful place to stop along the drive through New Mexico. Unplanned stop but so glad we saw it in passing! If you have kids with you make sure to do the Jr. Rangers program for a badge. Fun drive up to the volcano and super cool hikes down inside and around the rim. Loved it here!

On a road trip, I saw the sign and had to stop. I was unprepared for this and could not make the hike in good faith (no shoes/water/sunblock readily accessible) but very happy I stopped by.
You check in at the visitor center to show your pass and collect a map and then drive to the top parking lot where two trails are easily marked and ready. They post the estimated time to hike and if you come prepared, the views would be amazing. The pictures posted are readily accessible to anyone and worth the trip.

This is one of my favorite places that I never expected to encounter. Found this in passing while I was driving to visit my son in Colorado. A freaking volcano in New Mexico!
This was my second trip to the volcano! There is a trail that takes you down to the volcano vent and another trail that takes you around the rim. Both are very steep and will give your legs and lungs a workout!
That said, the views are amazing and worth the burn!
Jeremy Harpley — Google review
Great stop before you get to Colorado! 20 dollars to get in but if you're a vet or have a National Park pass it's free! We enjoyed it so much we came twice in one vacation! The rim trail is 1 mile long and a great leg stretcher! We stopped at the ranger station and checked out the video and history on the volcano! We enjoyed it!

Great area to explore. The office has a gift shop, museum, and a theatre for viewing the history of the area. The employees were friendly and informative. I had to buy a t-shirt as they have nice designs. Wear good shoes for hiking. It is right off the highway a couple miles. Lige is too short to pass up the history of our planet. God Bless, from the little blue jeep

There's a trail around the rim of this dormant volcano that's well worth the effort involved in taking the one mile walk. It's steep and the air is thin, so take your time. The views of the crater and the surrounding lava field / plains are incredible.

We’d never visited a volcano before and saw the signs off the highway on our way back from Trinidad. Very friendly staff. Drive up the volcano and took the short trail down. Easy going down but for those not in shape, it is a hard trek back up. Because of that, we didn’t get to hike the rim trail. We did love what we saw though. Very interesting. Would love to come back and do the longer trail next time.

Capulin Volcano is a hidden gem for those seeking a serene escape into nature's embrace. My recent visit during the winter season left me enchanted by the tranquility and beauty of this natural wonder.
Despite being the off-season, the park was not busy, allowing for an intimate exploration of its breathtaking landscapes. The snow-covered trails painted a picture-perfect scene, transforming Capulin Volcano into a winter wonderland straight out of a storybook.
What truly made my visit memorable was the warm welcome and hospitality extended by the Park Ranger on duty.
Navigating the park's trails looked like a delight, but it was too icy to attempt the small hikes. From the rim of the volcano, I marveled at the vast expanse of the dormant crater below, a testament to the earth's raw power and beauty.
As I ventured deeper into the park, I couldn't help but feel a profound sense of peace and wonder wash over me. The crisp winter air, the silence broken only by the occasional rustle of wildlife, created a sense of harmony with nature that is truly unparalleled.
My visit to Capulin Volcano was nothing short of extraordinary. Whether you're a nature enthusiast seeking solace in the great outdoors or simply looking to immerse yourself in the beauty of winter, Capulin Volcano offers an unforgettable experience that will leave you in awe. A heartfelt thank you to the Park Ranger for their hospitality and dedication to preserving this natural treasure for future generations to enjoy.

Beautiful place. I was only passing through, but decided to stop and see. I drove right up to the entrance and realized it was $20 to get in to see it. Seemed silly, as I was already looking at it and had been for 15 minutes while I drove there. I got out and walked around a little and did some meditating, and had a great experience. It’s probably a lot better if you pay to get in, but I had a great time there anyway!

It has been quite a while since we were here but we love this park and want to go back. There are hiking trails down into the volcano as well as along the rim. Be prepared for extreme winds on the rim. Some of the trail is completely exposed and the sudden gusts could make you lose balance. The views here are absolutely beautiful. You can drive part way up the volcano to a parking lot where there are restrooms. This provides amazing views and you may see some wildlife. We arrived as the park was opening and saw several mule deer on our drive up. We also saw a herd of Pronghorn ib the distance. The hike around the rim is definitely worth the effort. There is a visitor center that has some souvenirs and restrooms. There is no camping here. Definitely worth a visit.

A fantastic day trip with several relatively short trails around lava flows, the crater rim, and down into the crater. The views from the crater rim are breathtaking and the hike down into the crater is an interesting experience.
The roadway to the top only has a few spots with guard rails, but it did not feel unsafe. Drive carefully and enjoy the views once you’re on the top.
Overall, I would highly recommend a detour here on a road trip.
Evan Zimmerman — Google review
Absolutely beautiful views from the top of the Volcano. You can walk the top rim all the way around and even down to the bottom of the crater. Walking the rim is a 45-90 minute walk, and the crater path is 20-40 minutes. Totally worth the $20 a vehicle to go to the top.
Brandon Plentl — Google review
Amazing views! Breathtaking! We got to the top around 3:15. They cut the trails off at 4:15. We were able to circle the mile long crater loop in 30 mins. It has an elevation change of 305ft.
The trail to the bottom of the crater is .2 miles & a change of 105ft. Bring water & a something for your hair, it's windy.
Two lakes for fishing & boating, plus camping, hiking & views on the site of a historic coal camp.
One of my favorite state parks. Peaceful and not over crowded, plenty of trails for hikes long and short, or just a nice place to sit by the lake.

We have stayed at Lake Alice campground 3 times in the past 4 years and have enjoyed each stay!
Pros:
-Beautiful area with trails and lake nearby
-Somewhat secluded so no city/road noise
-Tent sites have a fire ring, table, bear box-water spigot is found near entrance
-Vault bathrooms were clean
-Camphosts were informative and super nice
-Showers
Cons:
-Sites are close together, therefore you may hear the noise of your neighbors and RVs.
-No cell reception
Tips:
-There are few sites so book early.
-Bring bug spray, mosquitoes and biting flies were present in early September
-Be cautious of wild animals, we had a cougar growl at us while hiking a nearby trail.
-Buy firewood beforehand, didn't see any for sale at the park
-Site 16 is a big site! Room for multi tents

We stayed in Soda Pocket campground without electricity or water, but the view made up for that. Beautiful! And the hummingbirds flew fast and furious around our faces! We really enjoyed ourselves.

This place has amazing views. We were looking at some boon-docking areas. We went to Soda Pocket Campground. They have several lots with great views. Each lot has a covered picnic table & trashcans to lockup (bears). There are some restrooms available & some great hiking. There is NO CELL SERVICE (AT&T). We smelled a few skunks. We can't wait to try this place out!

A family favorite to stop by this beautiful park. The hiking trails in the south end are very pleasant for beginners. On the north end by the lake, a bit more challenging but well worth the effort. The lakes are surrounded by the terrain, so you have to work hard to not appreciate how beautiful this place is.

Just breathtaking trails, 22 miles of them, that wind all around the area. Sites and trails were clean and managed. While I was there, they had no drinkable water and the showers were closed. Additionally, there is no cell coverage unless you bring your own satellite equipment.
The Rangers, notably Ranger Nick were very knowledgeable and helpful as was the camp host.

Came for a small hike and was not disappointed. Ours was a late afternoon hike on the Wapiti trail located just east of Malaya Lake. Nice parking area. the first 250 yards was moderately steep but as soon as you get to the first "y" trailer marker... go right. Left would be the greater incline going up. The trail was freshly groomed and well marked but was still a beautiful and natural feeling. My complement to the park staff. Great views and great weather. Didn't see any bears but did see many signs of recent bears in the woods deposits (f you get what I mean). Great views overall and of the lake below!

This was our first stop on our NM State Park tour, October 2023.
We stayed in Lake Alice campground. Only 12 sites. Weekend, sites were full. Weekdays, people leave early morningby 1-5pm, RVers are arriving. Probably 75% full midweek.
We got a full hookup site, 38 Renegade Valencia. 30 amp only. Theres a water boil notice. Fine for toilets, showers.
Several sites are large enough for 35-40 with a tow vehicle unhooked. Parked in front of the site.
Staff were fantastic and offers wood for sale daily. Quietest State Park I have ever been too! We camped at Sugarite Canyon State Park in a Motorhome.

This campground is several miles outside of Raton NM. We planned on Kayaking and were able to, but the campground we chose was up a rough, two mile road, from the main road. It wasit was a major hassle getting up and down that UNMAINTAINED road to get to our campsite. Once you got to the main road it was a mile to the lake. Showers were a mile in the other direction. Unfortunately I did not get the name of the extremely rude ranger, who when my husband jokingly asked about his uniform responded with, "call the governor if you have a complaint". Beautiful park, just needs attention and staff who care.

Very sweet spot to enjoy the night sky. If you don’t get your choice of camping spaces, bring a canopy because not all spots have full shade. It was also cool to drive into Colorado while exploring the park. Cleanest vault toilets I’ve ever used. The air freshener was an adorable touch. Very blessed to get to enjoy the free camp showers. The very best part of this park, I had absolutely zero cell service. We stayed here to try to get used to the altitude slowly & it did help. Oh and there’s about a million hummingbirds here, watch out, they definitely get in your personal space. The only downside is the RVs that will have their generator on at 5am. But the sweet camp hosts made up for that for sure. We did take the opportunity to go to Capulin volcano which was a nice scenic drive or a quick highway drive, dealers choice. The scenic drive allows for you to see Johnson church & the small town of Folsom. Given the opportunity, I will be back again.

Absolutely loved this out of the way State Park. It's so close to Raton, but most people don't know it's there. 2 great fishing lakes. A couple great campgrounds, and showers!. I've stopped here on my way back home from camping above treeline in Colorado just to get a shower. Sota Camp ground, site 2 & 3 are the best with good tree cover but near open meadows where the Elk and Deer graze.
There are old sites to explore from the mining town that used to be here. Lots of history and trails to follow.
I even saw a black bear while exploring the old town site.

Nice stay for the price. Our 30’ travel trailer with 2 slides and pick up truck just barely fit. Water at spicket had a notice to boil if you’re drinking it. $14 for water and electricity with nice fire pit and picnic table make this place a bargain. Zero cell phone service but we used Starlink which worked fine.

Loved our day here. Hiked along Lake Montoya trail into Colorado. Was still snow on the ground which made the trail very muddy in places. Still loved our hike at this park!
Scenic state park with 800-acre lake offering fishing, hiking, camping & summertime family programs.
Great place, looks like the roadway has been recently re paved, electric hookups work fantastic. Clean and well maintained. Has Archery Range 🎯, unusual feature. We will come back again

Trinidad Lake SP, is a great little park with great views. Some sites have full hookups, but for the rest we have 50 Amps, there is water in the area, mine was 225 feet away, lucky me I carry that much hose! Very quiet. It was during some rain storms that we visited so it’s a bit cloudy looking but nice park. There is a short 1 mile trail that will take you by the water and there is an 8 mile to and from trail that leaves the park area so there is plenty of opportunity for a nice hike from camp.

This is a wonderful place in SE Colorado. The lake is low and we were unsuccessful fishing. However, the campground was beautiful and we had great views of fishers peak. There is water available at the entrance and the sites are large but the campground is a little tight.

Amazing state park right next to Trinidad. Fishing, hiking, boating, camping, and more. Lots to do around the park. I did the Reilly canon trail, which was a total of 8 miles. I would highly recommend if you are looking for a hike in the area. Well marked trails and great scenery.

Family of 8 stayed in the South Shore Campground. The shade/shelter over the picnic table helped cut the wind and offered a nice place to eat. Ground was bumpy, no pad for tents.
I hadn't read the fine print and the vault toilets were gross, but we made it. Drove over to the campground on the bluff to take showers. Clean and easy to use.
Make sure you take cash for quarters to use the shower.
Lovely view of the lake and the mountain range. Cooled off nicely at night and warmed back up when the sun rose. Mid-July is a nice time to visit.
Great place to stay one night. Wouldn't want to stay much longer with a bunch of little kids. No playground or swimming area.

We stop here on our way northwest after a 10 hour drive. 4th visit I think. 25% occupied; were there on weekdays.
Coin operated shower!
Family bathrooms so we can shower together.
Beautiful fishing lake.
Sites in the upper 40s have great lake views.

One night of tent camping allowed us to take in the beautiful scenery, including the sun set. While I didn't have a boat or fishing gear, wading in the cool lake water was enjoyable. Pay showers is an interesting concept but a nice option if needed. I'm not sure why soap wasn't provided in the restrooms.

We travel full time & staying in NM. Came here to explore & it's beautiful. Another great place with great views. We thought about camping on the South side. We have a 41' 5th wheel. There are 2 good spots, out of the 10, for a rig that size. They have water onsite & restrooms.

If you're wanting just a quick weekend escape to a lake this is definitely a great spot. The waters are a beautiful turquoise blue, and they allow fishing, kayaking, paddle boarding, jet skies, boats and camping. The park rangers are super friendly, and there are a few hiking trails. And for it being a state park, they have really nice outhouses. The only reason it's not a 5 star is i wish they had more lake access points, there's only 3 so the beaches got crowded really fast, having to paddle board around the fishers isn't very fun.

This is a great state park in Colorado to camp at and also to just do a day trip to. Lots of covered concrete park benches with good barbecue pits to use. The camping areas or for another part that you don’t feel like you’re on top of other campers. The scenery is beautiful and there are some good hiking trails. Definitely recommend this place.

Quiet camping areas with fire pits and shelter from the afternoon/evening sun. Dried plant life/tree branches available near the road for small fires. Great place for kayaking, paddle boarding, fishing, boating and floating. Trout, salmon and bass available for catching. Dump station and water is at a different camp area away from South shore. Walmart is nearby (15 mi) in case you forgot anything.

The park itself is really cool. The trails are scenic and each trail has a different viewpoint. They all had a good variety of elevation changes but nothing too extreme. Could use a few more benches/rocks to rest.
The campground was okay, the sites were close together & the tent pads are small. The campground does not include the day pass. They also charge for showers, 25 cents a minute & the quarter machine was broken. The price for camping wasn't worth what the campground offers. It should of at least included the day pass.

Really nice state park register online before going, lower sites that overlook the lake were closed for the season. Very clean restrooms/showers, bring quarters or cash for the change machine. Very dark at night which was perfect for star gazing, sites were large and private some not so level. I would have disconnected from the truck if we were staying a few days.
Park offering swimming, boating, kayaking & fishing, plus camping & hiking amid mountain views.
Great place to fish, golf and other outdoor activities. Clean campsites. It’s a little loud at the campsite by the road. I would be careful to check the weather as high wind conditions can make this a brutal spot to camp.

This is an absolutely awesome place to visit! It is beautiful, well cared for, and well maintained. We went camping for a few days and was thoroughly impressed with the area as a whole. Playgrounds for the kids, restrooms that are maintained daily, sites that are maintained and visited by staff daily.... We were even lucky enough to have a nice neighbor who offered to pickup whatever we needed from town because she was heading there and wanted to be a good neighbor. Loved the people, the peacefulness, and the lake and mountain views.

We went camping here a few weeks ago. Very friendly and helpful park rangers. It was nice to have a fire! The rustic campsite we had was nice and flat and had options for where to place the tent. The fire pit had a grate over it for cooking and the picnic table had a metal covering over it, which provided some needed shade.
The park is also only an hour or so drive from the Great Sand Dunes.
One thing that wasn’t so good was the close proximity to the road with a hill. The cars and trucks at night make a lot of noise and can make tent sleeping a little difficult.
We had a nice stay and recommend it.

Lathrop State Park is Colorado’s first state park, founded in 1962. This park is packed with things to do for the whole family and is really a great campground. There’s a golf course, two lakes for fishing and swimming, beautiful trails, clean facilities and sites, and fantastic views of the Rocky Mountains. The sites are a little close to each other for my taste, but I have seen much worse. I highly recommend camping here. They have reasonable rates and accept reservations (I definitely recommend making reservations!) I stayed at site 028 on Piñon Loop. The site is near the restrooms and close to Hogback Trail. Recommended!
This is a hidden gem! It is a must see place for anyone interested in contemporary American counterculture art. You could spend days exploring the permanent exhibition on the 2nd floor. And the curators are great storytellers. They personally knew and/or are friends with each artist represented here. If you wanna know what was happening in the American counterculture art in 60s, 70s, 80s and beyond, you should see this place.

This is a delightful local museum with a lot of eclectic art. They also run a children's art program, where the kids get to paint planter boxes to put out in front of the museum. There's also a nice colorful mural across the road in the park. The tour was very informative and surprisingly they even have an entire room devoted to native Hawaiian art! We enjoyed visiting very much.
As far as the guy complaining about the elevator...well, it's a very small elevator with a CLEARLY posted sign stating that the maximum allowed is 8 people or 1400 pounds. With how big Americans are...well, just saying if you overloaded the elevator and got stuck, that's your fault. Chances are by doing that you cost the museum quite a lot of money in repairs.

The Museum of Friends is an extraordinary gem that beautifully celebrates the power of art. From the moment we stepped through its doors, we were captivated by the vibrant energy and the inspiring collection that awaited us.
The first thing that struck us was the incredibly warm and inviting atmosphere. The staff at the Museum of Friends are friendly, knowledgeable, and passionate about the exhibits. Their enthusiasm is contagious and enhances the entire experience. Their dedication to preserving and sharing the stories behind each artwork truly shines through.
The museum showcases an impressive range of pieces from local artists and beyond, spanning various mediums and styles. No mater what your personal taste in art is, there's something for everyone to admire and appreciate. Each piece tells a unique story and offers a glimpse into the artist's creative journey.
In conclusion, the Museum of Friends in Walsenburg, Colorado, is a well worth the stop. With its impressive collection, welcoming atmosphere, and commitment to fostering connections, it is an absolute must-visit for anyone seeking an inspiring and uplifting cultural experience.

I found Maria and Brendt warm engaging and inspiring.
The MOF is a Radiant Cactus Flower in the Desert.
Their selfless dedication to integrating world renowned art and providing transitional opportunities for community service to local residents adds a whole new dimension to how art affects a community.
Everyone passing through Walsenburg should stop and visit MOF and be prepared to take the time to immerse your mind and soul to absorb the incredible art. The expansive and open exhibit lends itself to just stand and concentrate on the artist's vision and also drink in the the amount of patience and love manifested in each piece.
Brendt and Maria are a treasure trove of knowledge and are selfless in their dedication to bringing art to the desert and supporting the Walsenburg community. Your visit and donation to MOF will ensure Maria's and Brendt's legacy lives on.

What a breath of fresh air for Walsenburg!
What a terrific place to swing by for an hour or two and look at a very wide range of types of work in their permanent collection and any exhibits they have going on. Currently the exhibits are John Wark's Colorado Wildfires, Camille Seaman's Photographs of Our Polar Regions, Larry Racioppo's Hurricane Sandy exhibit and many more upstairs. What I found most interesting was seeing more history of the area besides more typical things Walsenburg is known for such as mining, the Coalfield, Battle of Walsenburg, etc.
Everyone who works here is fantastic! You see and hear the passion they have for the works on display. Hopefully, Maria is there, and you have extra time to learn about Miners Plaza Park directly across the street from them and whatever else she feels like sharing! In the alley behind their building and the alley behind the other buildings while walking north to Heritage Park are also loaded with art murals that are beautiful.
I'll definitely be returning for another visit.

This place is AMAZING. The first floor features traveling exhibits which are switched out every few months. The upper floor features a permanent collection and it is mind-blowingly amazing.
It felt like I was swimming in art.
Artists that I have heard of before, and many artists that I have never heard of before. A little local art, and a lot of New York art. You get a little taste of the Colorado communes from the '60s. Loads of fabulous printwork. Sculpture, pencil drawings, ink drawings, mixed media, collage, oils on canvas and other substrates, acrylics, photography, watercolor, even broken glass.
There's also one whole room devoted to Hawaii and Pacific island art and craft, and stepping foot into this room felt like I was catapulted into another world.
I can't believe that this quality, variety, and sheer volume of art is right here in downtown Walsenburg! Absolutely worth your while. You can book a tour through their website. Please be sure to make a monetary donation.

It's been exciting watching the influx of diverse cultures and creative spirit that has been building in Southern Colorado over the years, and I was super excited to finally stop by the Museum of Friends in Walsenburg after recently learning about it.
The museum is diverse, having three thoughtful exhibitions on display in the primary gallery floor, and the entire upper floor is filled with a stunning, massive collection of artwork from the myriad of friends for which the museum is named. Though we didn't explore too thoroughly, there is a lovely gift shop with a diverse, affordable collection of artworks and gifts near the entryway of the museum, as well as section selling art supplies that are otherwise impossible to find in the area.
We were so fortunate to have an opportunity to meet and chat with the owners and gallery director, who are deeply passionate about art and sharing their love with the world.
This is a very special place filled with the imaginative magic we need as human beings :) Nourish and treat yourself and your loved ones to the Museum of Friends!

We stumbled into this quaint little town and were bowled over to find a Contemporary Art Museum! The museum was between exhibits but we were able to get a sneak peak at the upcoming show. We were also able to take our time viewing the permanent collection on the second floor. The permanent collection is a truly amazing assemblage of contemporary art. Wow! This place is definitely worth a stop. A highlight of our drive home.
Amazing place to learn about wolves, potentially meet them and enjoy some breath taking scenery ... wholeheartedly recommend spending the time to go out to Mission Wolf if it definitely worth the time.
The staff is friendly, engaging, and knowledgeable ... you are guaranteed to learn something you never knew before ...
One nugget i learned is that wolves breath is better than most humans ... totally without smell, i was amazed 😜

I had a 3 hours drive in each direction and it was totally worth it! The crew in m:w are so knowledgeable and dedicated, and the wolves are amazing. My group was able to visit 3 enclosures, meet 5 wolves and wolf dogs and learn so much from Mike and Moira. We also toured the area, saw the green house and visited the gift shop. It is recommended that you consider donation, wolf sponsorship or just helping out around the property. They accept volunteers on a short and longer basis. My favorite part was meeting the wolves up and personal, and learning that “if you don’t like a wolf to lick your teeth- don’t go into the wolves enclosure”. The 13 mile dirt road leading to m:w is not too bad, but I wish I had a 4x4 instead of my little car (it might be worse in the winter). To summarize: an amazing experience!

A great mission with compassionate, salt-of-the-earth type people. Kent was extremely knowledgeable and impassioned about working with the wolves, and a truly gentle soul. A powerful experience in a beautiful Colorado setting, and an effort worth supporting. This is a memorable adventure absolutely worth embarking upon.

It's an indescribable place. Come for an afternoon visit or show up and volunteer. There's always work for the willing! My girls pulled weeds and chopped wood. We're talking massive weeds on the mountain side with thorns that get into the wolves paws, not landscape weeding. It's a hardworking community of .... well ... anyone... from everywhere ... you're welcome as long as you respect the wolves. Work hard and you might learn something and have a wolf encounter along the way.

Staff is very warm and informative. They spent lots of time teaching and answering questions. The mission to give each wolf quality care and to teach others about the importance of wolves is the most important thing to them. Their love and passion drives them to do everything possible to ensure the welfare of each wolf. This is an amazing place and it deserves donations and volunteers to carry on the mission they dedicate their lives to.

My family and I had the most amazing experience today! I've traveled all over the place and I'd say this is one of the best experiences to date. The tour was fantastic, the staff are so knowledgeable, friendly, and we learned so much about wolves. It was very educational and we had no idea the wolves behaviors until now. The best part was our encounter with 5 of the wolves, and lots of kisses from Eden! Such a fun, fascinating and fantastic experience! We highly recommend Mission:Wolf! Thank you MW!

This is an incredible experience. We did the meet and greet where we met, pet and were kissed by live wolves. Then we took a second tour to look at all of the other members of the pack. Not exclusively wolves, there were fox and New Guinea singing dogs.

Apparently there's another place called wolf mission that is using the same name as the sanctuary taking care of wolves they are are selling clothing and coats etc bracelets and necklaces. They are scams. The products are not the same as the pictures very poorly made. Please look into where you are when it cones to these sites. I was contacted by the actual wolf mission which I believed is this site. I recognize doing your research. And maybe not buy online e as most places give u very cheap material. If it's cheap in cost u get what u paid for but I paid 40 each sweater and got what amounted to a 5 dollar shirt.

Bishop Castle is a unique and eccentric building made entirely by one local resident named Jim Bishop. There were no blueprints or plans used in its construction, with Jim working on it single-handedly over his lifetime. The castle boasts an array of features including bridges, turrets, and even a fire-breathing dragon created by Jim himself. Admission to the castle is free for all visitors who can explore the self-guided tours and gift shop.
By far one of my favorite places to visit. It's amazing and beautiful. Hand crafted by an older gentleman Jim. A must see attraction.
You must experience the climb to the top of both main towers...it's scary and uplifting, just breathtaking:)watch where you step. There are no guidelines except be careful!

This place is nuts! Very scary to think about climbing all the way to the top, and definitely looks like someone’s home project. But it’s kitschy and fun. The history is fascinating, even if the manifestos all over the place are weird.
Tina Edwards — Google review
This is the one of the most unique spots within the US. The building is quirky to say the least, and hands down the most adrenaline-pumping place I've ever been to. You've got parts seemingly held up by wires and sections that look like they'd barely hold up a cat, let alone a person. But against all odds, they do—and do it impressively.
Navigating the stairs, towers, and metal bridges truly sends shivers down your spine. And here's the kicker: this entire place was the vision of just one incredibly inspired individual. No formal building experience, no permits—just pure passion and a big dream.
They don't charge an entrance fee, which also means they're not guaranteeing your safety. It adds an edge to the experience, making every step a thrilling venture. If you're in for an adventure, I highly recommend giving this place a go. Safe travels!

This place was a work of beauty. The intricacies of this place were mesmerizing. There were so many staircases that went to a different part of the castle. There were some areas that couple potentially be hazardous to people- holes in the flooring and holes in the staircases. But it was so beautiful! I was fascinated and wanted to explore the high up area outside but my husband was worried it wasn’t safe enough. There was one area that had a lot of animal feces. The gift shop was cute. There’s no public bathroom but there was a portable bathroom. There was also a stand with hot chocolate. It is free to visit and there’s a place the leave donations for them to continue improving the site. It is definitely worth a visit.

I can definitely understand the hype with this place. It's legit scary cool, but petrifying. The idea that some guy just built this castle with his bare hands is insane. Definitely stop by, but remember to tread lightly and watch your step! The views from the top are amazing, especially when you're terrified from the trip to get there.

Totally bizarre place that is worth the visit. Definitely watch the intro video. Be careful walking around, especially in winter- wear spikes or hiking boots. It's super slick. Some gaps and drop offs that are scary if you have a Fear of heights. Slippery. But such a cool story and fun playground like castle with a dragon and gift shop at decent prices and some souvenirs and hot beverages on a trust-business (trust that you pay). Glad I went once in winter but I think I'd prefer summer.

Bishop Castle is a Colorado Roadside attraction that is free (donation box on site). When you arrive, the entrance is right off the highway. Park alongside the highway and walk to the entrance, keeping an eye on cars. I visited 2/19/22 and the area around the castle was muddy and icy in some places, wear good shoes to get around. The highway in from Colorado Springs had dry roads the entire way, but it is at 9000 ft elevation and definitely in the mountains. If your vehicle can't manage snow and ice be aware before heading up. When touring the castle I wore a backback and I wouldn't recommend it. The staircases are very narrow and wind up and down in spirals. The day I went had very little tourists and I could take my time resting (remember, 9000 ft elevation) climbing up and down the castle. This was a peculiar, wonderful, interesting, fun thing to see for free. It took me about 90 minutes to view everything. The wind was gusting and some of the metal walkways and stairs were swaying in the wind, which felt exciting and maybe a little dangerous. A couple was taking wedding photos inside, but they were only there a little while and it was still easy to see everything. Check it out.

I feel this is a place that everyone should visit. What an experience. The drive out there is so beautiful. When you get there there is parking along the road. You can see the castle from the road but you will want to go in and explore. Just a heads up, it could be muddy. This is just one of those just go see it. There is a food bar which was closed when we were there, but the gift shop was open.

This was such a fun and interesting experience. Well Worth the detour on the way home from a camping trip. This castle has so many places to explore. The story of this castle is also interesting. It is hand-built by the Bishop, and despite many legal battles and complaints the castle still continues to be built. We were both afraid of heights so we did not go all the way to the top. There is some adrenaline for those adrenaline seekers. The views around the castle are great. The castle is such an impressive feat. Be prepared that the steps and stairs are steep and sometimes uneven, so if you have balance issues you might not do well here. When we got up the stairs we immediately were transported to a fantasy world. This would be a great place for live-action role-play games or to host a DnD session. Another great benefit of this place is that it is free to explore. You can make donations and explore buying things at the gift shop.

My husband and I visited Bishop Castle, in Rye Colorado, during our recent trip to see family in Colorado Springs. The drive to Bishop Castle, located in the middle of a National Forest, was lengthy, but beautiful! Well worth it when we arrived! The castle is an amazing structure that is hardly justified with words, or even photos. You truly have to see it for yourself to really appreciate it. Since I'd have to write a novel about it, to explain the history of the place, I'll suggest you look up information about it and the remarkable place that it is. Truly a work of love, labor, and no doubt more sweat and tears than I can imagine.

We came to this place on my birthday looking for adventure. It is a bit of a drive, but it's definitely worth it. This castle was built by one really talented guy. If you have kids, keep them close. You can fall off and die. If you love adrenaline, then you should definitely check this place out.

Interesting place that's worth visiting. Use caution when exploring, especially with children. It's an active construction site. There are many gaps in the flooring and stairways, low overhead clearance, and pieces of metal sticking out. There are visually no safety features to prevent you from falling from many of the high points and towers if you venture upward. They're are porta-potties at the entrance. It's free to visit and always open, despite the hours Google lists.

January 21, 2024 was my third time to visit this masterpiece in work. I am amazed every time I visit. Just the sheer height and size of this structure is amazing. It is a work in progress (construction site) so there are some obstacles and potential dangers. Just be aware and careful of your surroundings. I like to explore but the height of some of the areas elevated my adrenaline and heart rate. No entrance fees and self guided. I will continue to stop and visit Bishops Castle anytime I'm in the area and I would recommend to anybody else to please stop by and visit and also leave a donation

Lake Pueblo State Park is a wilderness area renowned for its fishing opportunities, boasting 60 miles of shoreline and two marinas. Visitors can also enjoy a swimming beach and clean shower house and bathrooms. The park offers spacious campsites with ample distance between each other and is dog-friendly. While water pressure may be low at the main fresh water fill up in Yucca Flats, the stunning scenery more than makes up for it.
Very clean shower house and bathrooms. The sites are not stacked on top of each other. We had an electric only site. The water pressure not so great
at the main fresh water fill up in the Yucca Flats. But that's OK. I'm not complaining this place was beautiful. Dog friendly.

I liked it. The amenities are great, there was powered where we were which came in handy for the blow up mattresses! There is very little natural shade however, which only pushes you into the refreshing water.
Speaking of though, the natural shale layers of earth chip off in an arrowhead like shard and become very sharp and you should be very careful with dogs and bare feet!

Area is great for swimming, the dirt roads to the south swim beach are a little rough so make sure you have a good vehicle. There is also other areas around the lake that are great for Paddle boarding and Kayaking too! Make sure to check out Reservoir Brewery after they have great beer and food!

Great wide open area campgrounds. Good lake access. The water was very high this year but still a great time near the shore. We used some trails to walk down to the water. Dump station and water available. The showers were nice and clean also. Stars at night were incredible for viewing. Very hot in August typically in Pueblo fyi.

Beautiful place to stay! The camping spots have a lot of space between them. There are covered picnic tables and fire pit with the grill. The sound of nature is so peaceful. It’s so quiet and serene, we will definitely come here again. The photo of the sunset does not give it justice what we experience last night. The views are amazing.

I’m so blessed to live near this incredible state park. It’s a photographer’s dream with its many moods, unique terrain and vegetation. The backdrop of the Rocky Mountains and high cliffs surrounding parts of this huge lake make it seem surreal. Miles of shore and just as many paved and unpaved trails to explore, two marinas, campgrounds, great fishing and so much more.

Lake Pueblo State Park is a very interesting and entertaining spot to have a exciting fun filled day or whole weekend. I feel like it is often overlooked as an amazing Colorado go-to vacation destination that everyone should spend a full weekend at. The Pueblo lake itself is absolutely gigantic. There is also the Arkansas River and many many other little off shoots and ponds that surround the area. The dam is a really neat and beautiful structure that is awesome for a photography background. The lake, the river and the surrounding bodies of water are excellent spots for fishing. The boating access is excellent. The campgrounds are great for a nice family weekend trip.

Quiet. Peaceful. Beautiful. There is a $10 entrance fee to enter the park. Mix this with the fact that Pueblo is a very small town and you get a park that isn’t very crowded. The wildflowers were in full bloom during our hike and the succulent blooms were my favorite. I will be coming back to do some astrophotography down here as well as go swimming in the lake. It’s only a short 50 minute drive south from the Springs.

We visited this campground early in the summer of 2023 and had a great time. The site was a paved back-in and very leveled, so no leveling system needed (site #477). The campground was clean and very spacious. I was thrilled to see the amount of space between each campsite to allow some privacy. The campground had few trees with unobstructed views of the mountains, and sunset viewing was breathtakingly beautiful. The picnic table & fire pit were perfectly located off to the side & not too close to our trailer. The view of the lake wasn't great, but that didn't bother me. I could hear the boats & water jets throughout the day, but it wasn't disruptive. I didn't notice a playground for the kiddos, so I can't confirm if they have one. The restrooms were clean & didn't smell, and the grounds and dump stations were mowed & tidy. We will be back in the future, so 5 stars for me

The Pueblo Zoo is a year-round historic park that features over 400 animals and interactive exhibits. Visitors can enjoy the hands-on experience of feeding some of the animals in the designated area. The gift shop and admission office are run by friendly staff members who provide excellent customer service, making visitors feel like long-time friends of the zoo. Becoming a zoo member is highly recommended for those who love visiting frequently as it makes trips affordable.
I’ve been coming here for about 24 years, never had a bad experience. But I wanted to shout out the people upfront in the gift shop and admission office. Diana and her associate (I didn’t catch her name. She had a long ponytail ) but they were both so extremely nice and they really made our visit; the best it’s ever been. They handled us with extreme respect and customer service. And treated us like a long time friend of the zoo. And again, I will be back next time. To my home zoo.

The Pueblo zoo in Colorado was clean and had pleasant staff. The animals appear to be adequately cared for. This is a small zoo and I suspect most families will easily complete the zoo and inevitable gift shop in under 3 hours. No giraffes or elephants as it is a small zoo. The red pandas seem to be the main attraction though the viewing habitat leave something to be desired for a main attraction. Overall, a pleasant zoo with a nice amount of shade and a few water fountains. Drinks and treats within the zoo or reasonably priced and less than several other zoos we have visited. However, the gift shop is where prices seemed overly exaggerated. This is usually the case, but it seemed to be a bit higher than normal at the Pueblo zoo. Families on a budget would likely want to steer clear of the gift shop.

These stars are not in the lack of anything other than the disappointment of the empty enclosures. The bear pits were empty except two bald eagles were in one. There were more open empty spaces or if they had something in them there was tarps up so we couldn't see. HOWEVER even though it was a small zoo, the animals were active even on a 38° day. The best part was the lions! They were very active and roaring so loud you could hear them across the park. This was a very cute and clean park and inside the town park.
With that being said please go visit and donate money to this zoo. It is worth keeping around.

Pleasant place to visit with kids. Great zoo for young kids. Not crowded at all so kids could walk and explore freely. Lots of shade so even in the heat, this was a nice outdoor experience. Layout was nice and we made it through the zoo in about 2.5 hours.
When we visited, a lot of the animals (camels & others) were not being displayed.

This is a pretty cute small zoo. No, you won't find elephants and Polar bears but you will find smaller animals like Meerkat, Gibbons and the like. Well kept grounds, drinks available. Nice pathways for walking or pushing a stroller. One thing that's really nice, it's not crowded! Animals appear well fed and taken cared of.

Smaller zoo, but decided to go to see the Red Pandas. For families taking strollers or those with mobility issues, wide paved walkways run throughout. The zoo took roughly 1.5 - 2 hours for us to walk through, and overall, we enjoyed our visit

Quiet, beautiful, little zoo. Loved that there weren't throngs of people crowding up the place!! Very easily accessed all animals. Staff was very informative!

I was really pleasantly surprised by this zoo - it's a bit bigger than I thought and the sight of the big cats left me impressed. There's also a whole, huge pirate ship inside one of the buildings! I also loved the three habitats for the red pandas, they were all very active. But the habitats themselves are a bit dated. I love that it's a historical park and zoo, and some of the buildings were built by the WPA, but sometimes they just seem a bit too small for some of the animals. All in all, it was very nice to walk around on a sunny day.
Just next to it but outside the zoo is a very nice playground, fields, and a small amusement area. The rides were closed during my January visit, but there are some cute ones in there, including a carousel and little roller coaster.

Nice quiet zoo with animals we don't normally see at the Denver zoo. We really loved the red pandas but were disappointed they didn't have any as stuffed animals to buy in the gift shop. We also liked how much closer we we're able to view the animals.

Even though it is a smaller zoo, its definitely a good atmosphere! Affordable food and entrance, the animals enclosures were all clean and easily viewable! Some enclosures were empty or being renovated but bear with them!! For being a smaller zoo, my family had a great time there, and not being as busy it didn't feel like the more trafficed zoos where you almost get pushed out of the way of some animals! Great for a day trip, and surrounded by the city park as well, the atmosphere was really friendly and welcoming!

Super sweet staff who were very knowledgeable and in their eco zone took the time to show me where the animals like to perch, how old they were, and what their diets consist of. Great way to spend 3-4 hrs. They have plenty of benches to sit and rest on if your legs get tired. The penguins were cute, but I wouldn't recommend going too early. Many of the animals were sleeping, like the painted dogs, and couldn't see them too well. The kangaroos were also hiding out. But overall great experience and really enjoyed the history found throughout the zoo.

This zoo was terrible. They had one lion. They had a few good animals but this zoo is been small and we finished it in 40 min. My fab part was the red panda. I wasted my money, so small and half of the animals were gone. There was no bear or cat or anything.

The Historic Arkansas Riverwalk is a 1.3 mile loop on a 32-acre urban waterfront in downtown Pueblo. Completed in October 2000, it features family-oriented activities and events, such as boat rides and concerts. The walkway has many historic buildings along the river, which was returned to its original location after being diverted in 1921 due to a devastating flood that destroyed Pueblo.

The historic riverwalk was really nice just to walk about at 8:00am in the morning, as was the adjacent downtown area. So many sights to see along the way. There were so many trees and lanterns that made it feel cozy and inviting. It is a shame that the water was not filled, though I am sure some of it might out of fear that the pipes would freeze in wintry weather.

We loved this walk along the river. There are so many statues, sculptures, informative signs, and pretty artwork along the trail. You can take a boat tour along the river or rent a peddle boat and cruise around the little pond there. There's so much along the way, it was so fun. It was crowded when we went, but nothing too bad and it was the Fourth of July weekend also.

We were here in the morning and there were only a few other people walking around. It was February so the water was drained and there were no boats going. We still had a really good time. The kids loved all the different statues.

Always a great time going down to the river walk! Me and my dog we love the the walk on a clean sidewalk, we love watching the ducks. Once in a blue moon you'll even see a beaver in there!

Great and quiet place without crowds. We enjoyed ourselves here. No wait anywhere during the peak season is a big plus. Beautiful design along the river walk. Very relaxing and lots of picture points. One point deducted is because we had a hard time finding an open public restroom anywhere around the riverwalk. The bathroom doors were all locked for some reason while we were there. We ended up purchasing some drinks in order to use the bathroom in a restaurant nearby. So a heads up for others.

Two Aussies doing a roadtrip through usa. Wife and I found this place very lovely. Visited today (Wednesday 3rd August 2023), no crowds, pleasant wall and great sculptures to be looked at during the walk. Walk itself is about 1mile but all flat. If you like l, you can take a boat ride around the canal

Fun little downtown area to walk around at. Several sculptures of animals and people are scattered around the river. Not a long walk by any means but it is cute. Lots of restaurants along the route as well. It will most likely take you less than an hour to walk if you don’t stop often.

The water is gone in the winter - so no boat tours or paddle boats (and sometimes there's a bulldozer scooping up icy mud from the bottom) but it's still a nice walk, not too big to do all in one go and lots of art to see and a few restaurants. Reminds me more of Oklahoma City's than San Antonino's. Extra charming at night!

Very clean and well kept riverwalk. Live music at nearby restaurants on the Riverwalk. One of my favorite walks. My family and I really enjoy visiting Pueblo.

The wife is from Pueblo and I am not a fan of visiting...it's a pretty run-down city and has crime issues. However, with things like the Riverwalk maybe things are turning around. The place is an absolutely stunning place to take a walk. Very well kept and maintained and if you were brought blindfolded you would NEVER know you were in Pueblo. Worth the trip to the city for this alone! Sadly most of my photos are on my camera but here are a couple I took on my phone.
Pueblo Weisbrod Aircraft Museum houses more than 24 old planes and other exhibits, along with a souvenir shop. Despite being located in a small town, the museum boasts excellent displays featuring historical artifacts like donated uniforms and valuable, large aircraft. The staff members are knowledgeable and have interesting personal stories to share about the exhibits. Visitors can ask for details on anything they see at the museum. It is worth visiting on Saturdays when it offers a great experience for people of all ages.
Especially for such a small town, this museum is absolutely excellent. Tiny price of entry and extremely rich history on display.
They have all kinds of incredible displays, from uniforms donated by remarkable individuals themselves to massive aircraft with great historical and technical value.
The staff themselves are excellent people as well, all with their own great personal stories too. Ask for details about anything and you will not be disappointed!

I am very thankful for this opportunity to see such history of our great country and feel like it is so alive to touch and imagine like I was there this is the greatest country that has ever been. I hope this place is around forever as a reminder of why these things we're built and the freedom we have because of this them. I wish they could have been built for peace✌️ just think.. .. ..... thanks and thankful!!@@!!

Fantastic spot to not only view some aircraft, but also explore inside of a few, more then just aircraft though! They have half-tracks, artillery, large munitions and a pretty large space museum. 10/10 I'd definitely recommend.

Great and knowledgeable staff! Very friendly! My kids loved how they could get inside some of the planes and helicopters. Lots of NASA stuff and two hangers to go into full of things and air crafts to explore and look at plus a bunch of airplanes outside to see and you can get on the tank and take pictures. Highly recommend

This is definitely a must see attraction that you will not regret! Great for all ages.
You will be taken on a tour by extremely knowledgeable volunteers that makes the experience like no other.
You will have the rare opportunity to see(sometimes touch) a variety of retired military aircraft, gear, memorabilia, etc. that will capture everlasting memories.

Great hidden gem! Lots of excellent options with several you can board!...no slouch of a museum (even though you wouldn't expect much from the outside). Look for a BOGO coupon! The docents are wonderful, passionate about the museum offerings, and have been there for years!

Such a cool museum! Everyone we spoke with, from the guides to the office staff, were incredibly well informed about every subject my very inquisitive child could ask them about. We even got to meet a WWII veteran while we were there. So glad we stopped in!

Very cool- Lots of planes and vehicles, as well as a well put together layout. They have active relations with many companies so seem to get new items/displays dropped off periodically (NASA included)! A bit of walking if you want to see everything, but we'll worth it. Interactive displays and allow you up close and even in multiple planes/aircraft! Well thought out, large selection, and great staff (some of which were lived the history on display).

This a pretty good Air Museum. Plenty of warbirds, a few vehicles and a nice assortment of Space items. You are able to enter multiple aircraft both airplane and helicopter. Bathrooms in both hangars. 5-8 aircraft located outside. Staff was friendly. Nice little gift shop. For a small community this is a pretty good display. It was not crowded, kids welcomed.

This place is awesome!! Only ten bucks a person to get in and worth every penny. There are veterans there that are more than happy to give you a tour and explain the history of some of the items there. Thank you to the staff for being friendly and knowledgeable.🫡

Fantastic first trip to the Pueblo air and space museum! Two full hangers of vintage war birds and NASA equipment. Lots of signage and descriptions of various artifacts. The cost is ridiculous low for the level of museum it is. The best part is the friendly and informed staff. Well versed in each item on display and many are veterans with experience in some displays.
The pair of WW2 vets were a bonus and had amazing memories to share.
Highly recommend!

Place was one of the best best ever been too.
The "young man" (veteran) was very informal and very sweet. I loved how he explained briefly about the areas history.
Thank you for such a memorable time, spent with husband and grandson.
Cheyenne Mountain, one of the most famous and secretive attractions in Colorado Springs, is a 3 peaks and 2 forested parks attraction with hiking trails and cascading waterfalls. The mountain is also home to a crashed military plane that's been up there since 1957.
Absolutely beautiful views...... great trails. We had a great time!!!

I've been twice and had a great time. As someone who's new to hiking I found this place a great starter environment for climbing up the side of a mountain. Starting at the trail head and ascending the mountain gave way to a nature walk that was breathtaking and wonderful. Between the tiny and big creatures and the amazing variety of plant life and rock formations there's something to behold at every corner. The Dixon trail is where it's at for scaling to the summit but get an early start. The ascent is about 3,000 ft from the trail head. On my 2nd visit I saw deer, wild turkey, humming birds, lizards, chipmunks, rabbits, squirrels. I'm looking forward to returning in the colder months to hopefully see some elk and other big game.

Started from the very bottom right next to highway 115 and all the way to the top, 18 miles round trip. A very cool mountain to stand on top of. There's a crashed military plane that's been up there since 1957.

This is a official complaint about the former residents of chyanne mountain complex in Colorado, I am officially making my statement about the US military members at that base as they have been abducting people using area 51 made ships used for abductions I was awake during all of the times i was abducted by colonel Samantha Carter of the us air force, and by Russian military members she works with at that base formerly used by SGC, I was abducted in the summers of 2001, 2002,2007,2008,2009, i called the fbi the Pentagon they hanged up on me after I said truthfully about what happened, and I sent my statements to the fbi numerous times, and i still don't have justice, so don't trust our own military members and don't trust our government, this is a freedom of speech truthful official statement.

This beautiful mountain contains NORAD, and antennae farm, the Horns with Cloud Camp, & the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo. But you don't need to go to the zoo to see wildlife here. Regular visitors in the wild include bears, mountain lions, bobcats, foxes, racoons, an occasional skunk, large rafters of turkeys, and tons of mule deer. It is an enjoyable place for bird watching of perching and tree clinging birds and hawks. There are several places to hike, but trailheads are not advertised.

Located atop Cheyenne Mountain in Colorado Springs, the Will Rogers Shrine of the Sun is a beautiful and popular historical landmark dedicated to American humorist Will Rogers. The shrine offers stunning views of Colorado Springs and the pretty Pikes Peak Region, as well as divine interment for Julie and Spencer Penrose. There are various activities on offer for visitors, including hand-feeding giraffes, which is always a hit with kids.
After you visit the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo you can drive through the zoo gates to drive up to the shrine, it’s well worth the just over a mile drive.

Absolutely amazing view. Came on a weekday in March just before a snowstorm hit that evening. Me and my fiancé were alone for 20-30 minutes before someone else drove up. Entry was included with the Zoo ticket so it was a no brainer to drive up here. The sounds of the crowds and traffic were nearly absent. Just the wind and the birds. Chapel is a nice touch to this location. You feel a bit closer to God.

Historic monument built by Spencer and Julie Penrose starting in 1934 and completing in 1937. The entrance to the outside Shrine is free but must pay Cheyenne Mountain Zoo admission to drive there as that is the only way to get there. It is a 1.4 mile drive up from the entrance to the zoo. The zoo is at 6800' and the Shrine is at 8136', so it's a beautiful drive with amazing views. At this time, there is no entry inside the Shrine.. I inquired via phone and was told the inside is being remodeled.

This was a beautiful stop! It's included with zoo admission and you drive through the zoo to get to the Shrine. Beautiful area at the top with a gorgeous view! There was about 96 stairs to the top but it wasn't too bad and there are rooms on several flights to take breaks at if need be.

Will Rogers Shrine of the Son is part of the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo so it’s free if you buy a Zoo ticket at 30.00 or less.
The tower is not handicap accessible having been built around 88 years ago. Standing at 5 stories tall - 100 feet. It commands an astounding view all the way to Pikes Peak.
The chimes can be heard for up to 20 Miles.
“ In 1934, Spencer Penrose, who had already built the Pikes Peak Highway, The Broadmoor, and the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo, began constructing the singing shrine as a resting place for him and his wife, Julie. This was after Spencer was diagnosed with throat cancer.
At nearly 8,000 feet above sea level, Will Rogers Shrine of the Sun serves as the final resting place for Spencer and Julie Penrose, as well as a destination to experience extraordinary”
If you haven’t visited it it’s a serious piece of history.

This place is very interesting. Amazing views of Colorado Springs and surrounding areas. You must drive through the zoo you get up to the top. Zoo admission is required but if you have a season pass to the zoo you are allowed to use that as you're admission. No food or drink allowed in shrine. Not exactly stroller or wheelchair accessible but can be done. Great place to visit.

Must purchase zoo ticket to be able to go see this shrine. This place is so weird to me you must see it in person to see why I would say that. It is well kept. It has a creepy vibe though. Almost haunted like vibes. Great views of the surrounding areas. Just a mile higher than the zoo. It world be neat for a wedding or event. There is alot of steps.

The road to the Shire requires visitors to buy a zoo pass to enter the gates and access their service road. Worth the time to visit. Make sure you’re there during the bells chiming.

The drive is not for the faint of heart. Once you get to the top, the view is in another league. Just imagine how hard it was to get all the materials up the mountains to build this must have been out of this world. If you’re ok with heights then this is you’re stuff. Don’t miss out on this opportunity.

Very interesting but beautiful shrine. Definitely worth visiting if you’re going to Cheyenne zoo. Plus you get to drive straight through the zoo on the way up to the shrine and get great views of the animals. By the parking, there is a small museum that gives the history of the shrine and the people it’s dedicated to. The shrine is painted on the inside and I believe is three stories tall with great overlooks at each floor. If you walk down the left staircase next to the entrance, there is a small room with a painting of Mary and Jesus. Overall great place

This is a neat stop if you're already going to the zoo. The views are incredible and the structure itself is beautiful! Admission is free with a zoo ticket. You need to see this at least once!

It's a nice bit of history like a small museum, went with my grandpa and had a good time admiring the shrine and the views

Great view, the guide was super nice and knowledgeable. First let me say it kind of annoys me that the zoo doesn’t tell anyone about this place or advertise in anyway.
If you buy a ticket for the Zoo you can pass through the gate to go to the Shrine. If you have 4 people in the car you have to have 4 Zoo tickets though. Also your Zoo ticket is good for 2 weeks to go to the Shrine. I wish i knew that before buying one on Monday and again on Thursday.
The Shrine is very well cared for, they maintain the road up even in the winter months. There are clean restrooms in the building in the parking lot. The drive up is not scary just go slow and watch for cars coming around the narrow corners.
The view is so cool! Ask the guide questions, it was so great chatting and learning from him. He pointed out all the sights that have plaques and explained a lot to me. It’s called the Shrine of the Sun because it is the first point the sun hits as it raises and the last thing as it sets. So cool. The stairs are not bad at all, there is a landing at each level to pause if you need to go slow and catch your breath. The shrine plays music every 15 mins and a whole song at certain hours each day. Such at fun little thing to do if you are already at the Zoo, don’t miss it.
