Miniature golf course
Fun & Games
Family-run amusement center with a driving range, mini-golf course, go-karts & a snack bar.
Heated driving range bay for practicing in winter. It was 20 degrees outside but under the heated bay I had to remove layers.

First 70° March afternoon my brother and I went to driving range and hit a small bucket of golf balls. The range is nice with yardage markers every 50yards from 100 to 250 yards. Also has a sandbox to test your sand wedge skills. They also have very large and challenging Putt-Putt golf course looks to be loads of fun. We intend to do the course next sunny warm spring day. They also have a good looking go cart track! Lots of fun things to do and all areas are clean and well kept. Great fun no matter your age!

Wonderfully fun and difficult putt putt course. Long holes and obstacles inserted in frustrating locations make for lots of strokes, be prepared to laugh. Go kart track is reasonably priced and super fun. Track itself is a little small but tight turns and a beautiful scenery make up for it. Great location for a birthday party or just a fun Tuesday night.

Brought my daughter and rented go karts, did putt putt and got ice cream for under $50. Staff was friendly. We had a great time. I do wish we would have gotten more than a 5min ride on the Go-Karts but my daughter was happy so I was happy. Definitely recommend!
Amber Worden — Google review
Huge putt-putt course with lots of room between holes. Course was in generally good shape - just a few loose bricks on the 18-hole track. All turf was in great shape with no rips, tears or loose humps. Course is REALLY tough, though. Some holes severaly punish shots that are not perfect or lucky. (Miss a 20-foot downhill putt, land in the water, for example.) But the layout is great, scenery is fantastic and it's a nice place to spend some time with friends and family.
Brian Nordin — Google review
Friendly staff and adequate course. Tougher than you think with many holes having slopes away from the cup and placing balls at the edge bricks and back towards the start of the hole. Some issues with carpeting, but not major issues. One of the water hazards is broken/missing a plug and it simply allows the ball to enter, slip down, and roll up the other side and out of the trap. Most holes are par 2 or 3 but more like 3 to 5 in reality. There is a 6 stroke max per hole. The last hole captures the ball, just like most places. The tees are rubber, movable mats with a divit to hold the ball. The areas around the edge bricks are often very difficult to get a ball to stay in place when you move it a putter's head length from the edge due to slopes. There aren't any real special holes with old school objects like a windmill, clown's head, automation, or similar items. Even in the rain, it was still fun playing as a group and competing.
I have been to much better miniature golf courses and much worse. There isn't many seating or trash opportunities at this course. There are also go carts at this business for a separate fee. Multiple colors of balls so everyone can have a different one. Multiple lengths of putters for tall, average, and short people alike.

Perfect location, right off the expressway exit. 18 hole putt-putt, go carts, driving range and awesome ice cream. The area is clean and free of debris. Staff is always helpful and kind. 💖💖

This is a beautiful course with very good green very well taken care of. This course is not very challenging but has long holes. The course took an hour for 2 people. I would have given it a 5 but there are no exciting barriers or added game challenges. This is a really nice course all around though.

Wonderful day with family on a fast and challenging mini golf course. Be ready for some stiff competition! The golf cart track might be small but it's fast so good for some racing action. The only recommendation would be having drink access in more places around the facility.

My wife and I had a blast here! There is beautiful scenery and a few streams and a really cool waterfall. The mini golf area is very wide and open. It was reasonably priced too. We will be returning!
The Michigan Heroes Museum, established in 1987, showcases the rich history of military and space heroes from Michigan. With over 900 displays and stories on rotation, visitors can learn about the brave men and women who served their country with great sacrifice. The museum is a hidden gem that is definitely worth exploring for anyone interested in history. From soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice to those who returned home to their loved ones, this museum offers emotional insights into the heroic deeds of Michigan's past.
Such an amazing place to visit with metals, uniforms, shoes, helmets, bombs, replicas of boats... there's just everything or anything and it's all about Michiganders. It is a very a beautiful place to go and take with the whole family

This was very cool! Our boys are all in WWII right now and this place honored all who served from MI in all wars and space. Mark, who was working today was very knowledgeable and he had a scavenger hunt the boys could do which made them look through and at everything multiple times trying to find their objects on their sheets. It helped them to stop and really appreciate everything while learning new cool things about history and humbling them for own fallen soldiers. I recommend this place!

This place is a hidden treasure! John was amazing and will spend time talking you to if you ask. He seemed to know all the stories of the service men and women in detail and is a great storyteller. He said they have about 900 displays/sorties they rotate through. It was definitely an emotional visit reading about all these amazing service people that made the ultimate sacrifice and those that were able to return to their loved ones. definitely a place you can return to over and over

An absolute Hidden Gem. Everyone who is a resident of Michigan should visit here. Antonio who was a volunteer was excited to tell me and my son about the heroes who served our country and made the experience very memorable. We were not there as long as we wanted because we had a tight schedule but this is seriously a place to read the stories about the different people with ties to Michigan that have served our great country.

We went on a field trip there. The staff was very friendly! Kids enjoyed it.

I cannot say enough about this museum, which is overflowing with information about Michigan’s contributions to military and space history. Each exhibit contains the Michigan hero’s story as well as uniforms, letters, telegrams, newspapers, weapons, medals, and other artifacts. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable, in particular executive director John Ryder. He spent three hours regaling us with detailed information and fascinating stories about virtually every exhibit. His incredible wealth of knowledge and engaging manner raised the experience to a whole new level. As it is impossible to take everything in on one visit, we are definitely planning on returning. A must-see destination for patriotic history-lovers. 👍👍👍👍👍

A very cool museum if you’re interested in warm history. Goes on and on. The owner or manager came out and told us stories and gave our son a scavenger hunt to do which made all the more fun for him. Wonderful staff. Would come back for them alone

If you love history this is definitely work checking out. Brought my father here years ago before he lasted and he absolutely enjoyed every moment! Worth your time to go and see the exhibits!

Absolutely fantastic hidden Michigan gem! This museum has an amazing collection of military history, Michigan soldiers' stories, and artifacts and memorabilia. For me it's an absolutely essential stop on a Frankenmuth visit, and well worth a trip on its own merit! The staff are incredibly helpful and knowledgeable and the museum itself is well organized and well cared for. A fantastic place for researching a school project, brushing up on military history, or just spending a day learning more about the amazing things people from Michigan have accomplished.

My husband and I visited earlier this week and had a wonderful time. We greatly appreciate the time given to us to have a personal tour around the building and all the stories shared with us. Will be going back!!
Destiny Smiddy — Google review
The short story is: The museum itself was very interesting, and the stories of all the men and women gave me goosebumps.
The long story is: The two young guys working were helpful, but they were sharing wildly inaccurate "facts" with another guest, telling her about different battles and individuals that not only weren't true, but weren't physically possible (so and so did x thing at this age with this weapon, but that particular weapon wasn't even invented yet when the individual was that age, x battle happened by this river but the name of the battle and the location were both wrong, etc). My history major husband was appalled, and it really ruined the experience for him (and then, by extension, me as I listened to him mutter under his breath about everything they'd gotten wrong).

I was very surprised at the number of exhibits here. There are a lot of stories, and I think it has been carefully curated. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area!
Frankenmuth River Place Shops is a charming shopping center designed to resemble a traditional Bavarian village. With over 40 unique storefronts, visitors can explore the Alpine-inspired architecture and enjoy activities like old-time photos, gourmet cupcakes, and wine tastings at Modern Craft Winery. The shops offer a variety of experiences for families to enjoy while immersing themselves in Frankenmuth's European village theme.
40 shops, all connected. You walk outside and enjoy the decorations, the music, and the fairy garden.
They have many specialty shops, that carry very different merchandise, don't forget to check out the bakery and the store for cat's and dogs.
They have an arcade also.
Restaurant are with in the path.
You also can take your pet for a great stroll, take very great pictures of a waterfall and the covered bridge.
The only store I would not recommend is the Frankenmuth store, high priced and really touristy.
Be sure to check out the store Sticky things, this place has honey, syrup, butter, oils and all kinds of yummy tea's. You can sample all their products and the staff is very helpful and knowledgeable about where their merchandise is made and for health benefits they carry so much and the staff is, well I cannot say enough, they also offer to but online, a definite must stop.

Great little place to stop and shop while you're in Frankenmuth. Lots of options to pop in and look around. There's an arcade to keep the kids occupied for a while and you're steps away from some good restaurant choices on the main drag. It's a pet friendly area as well. They gave a spot near the middle to let them do their business too.
David Strzelecki — Google review
If you think of it as resort pricing then many of the stores are priced right. It's a lot of very cool shops that are creatively laid out. Every shop I walked into was polite. They wanted to make sales but we're not pushy. Either you found something or you didn't if you knew what you were looking fir they would happily assist.
There are goldfish in the water feature. Doing pretty well for March.

They have alot of cool things to look at and shop. My favorite was this place you can try hot sauce and BBQ sauces in weird flavors.
Water is $2 in there so maybe bring your own. They have an arcade, book store, blacksmith experience, pet stores, candy, and fudge shops. It was definitely worth going highly recommend.

Frankenmuth River Place is a great place to spend a relaxing day with friends and family. There are plenty of food options on site or very close by. The shops are varied and interesting to browse. I loved the honey and tea shop, the samples were amazing. And definitely make a stop at the beignet shop. Delicious!

Very taste place. Samples of honey, oils, vinegar and maple syrup. Tea was only available to smell in jars. The smell and taste should resemble each other. Per the owner. We purchased a sampler box with a honey and a couple different teas. Can't wait to try the tea. One of many places to experice in this quaint little town.

This place is so charming, and feels like a mini town all on its own. It is beautifully landscaped, with photo opportunities everywhere. From 5-9 everyday, there is a free shuttle bus that runs continously from Bavarian Inn Hotel, to River Place Shops, to the Bavarian Inn Restaurant.
The shopping is great and this is also where you'd catch a ride on the ferry padded boat.
I live this place !

This is a beautiful Bavarian style shopping area with various specialty shops. Most of the stores that sell candy, chocolate, hot sauce or other food products offer some free samples. You can find a place to get an ice cream cone or coffee and enjoy walking around the area that is beautifully landscaped with shrubs, flowers, and water fountains.

This is my second time here, there’s always something about this little nice town that keeps me from coming back to it. Maybe it reminds me of every time I’ve been to Europe. Out first time back was couple years ago and it was summer but this time around we went during fall season and it’s a beautiful experience to see the colours of the leaf blends in with the vibrant colour of the shops around the area.
This place has a bunch of store for you to walk around and get indulge with different kind of experiences. It is a dog friendly mall and you’re more than welcome to walk around and take pictures around it. There’s quite a bit of parking space here and perfect place to park as well if you’re planning to visit this little town.
Overall, if your in Michigan and near Detroit area, I would definitely recommend visiting this area and explore. This little Germany town won’t disappoint you and you’ll be glad that you visited this!

We went to see the ice sculptures and the snow sculptures. Very busy place, have not seen any put traffic like that since I visited the Las Vegas Strip. There must have been 4 or 5,000 people in that town checking that Festival out when we were there. We got to see the river Ice Break while we were waiting to get out of town. That was something never saw that before in my life. Be prepared to walk a long ways as to find a parking place there is very difficult you'll be driving around a little bit to find one but you will. First time I ever been there it's pretty cool.

It is the perfect one stop a shop that just came out of a cartoon or a movie. It was the perfect place when it was pouring outside.
Inas Saberi — Google review
It was a pleasant, sunny, wintery day at the shops. It's not too cold to shop outside from store to store. The village was nice and clean. Close to restrooms. Village shops were clean and interesting, had a great time in the bookstore. What a selection! also visited the blacksmith. Enjoyed the ladies clothing shop as well as picking up some treats for my dog. They were getting ready for an ice carving show and festival...hope it turned out good.

As I mentioned in the review with the Bavarian Inn, the shops are endless!! The people of the city are kind and welcoming. It is an amazing experience. The entire city has a certain charm and feel about it. Absolutely adored the theatrics!! It’s all within walking distance. They also have carriage rides. And as I have mentioned before in other reviews, the have live entertainment every evening!! I want to definitely suggest that you look into Frankenmuth Michigan as a future vacation/holiday!! You most certainly will be glad you did!!

Lots of shops for nerds. Grab a hot chocolate and head to the gaming parlor or spend outdoors boating when it isn’t cold. Lovely lights that reminds you of christmas all year round

It is a MUST to stop by and explore the nearby/surrounding areas and shops. It was my family’s first time really exploring this area and there’s so many wonderful bakeries, souvenir/gift stores, and truly just a fun place to walk in! Love it & the Christmas air!!!
Crossroads Village & Huckleberry Railroad is a charming 1800s-style lakeside village that boasts of 34 historic buildings and a fully operational train. The place is an ideal destination for families, especially during Christmas lighting and train rides. The train ride takes around 35 minutes round trip, offering breathtaking views of the light display on both sides.
A lovely place to visit for enjoying holiday spirit. The train ride was fun as we got to see several light displays along the ride, old time holiday songs playing and a very cozy coach! Masks are required on the train. The walk in the village is fun for older kids but with toddlers a little difficult… but they can enjoy the carousel, popcorn, hot cocoa and lighted pathways.

We loved it. We went on a day that was sponsored so there were more activities going on in addition to normal business. Everything ran smoothly & it was tons of fun. We'll definitely be returning for another train ride ❤️

A wonderful place to visit, especially at Halloween or Christmas! My family visits Crossroads Village every year for the holidays. The ghosts and goodies event lets you trick or treat your way around the many buildings and it's fun to see all the decorations. My kids love the train rides. The tickets for Halloween and Christmas trains sell out fast so definitely purchase those in advance. Otherwise tickets are easy enough to buy at the gate. During Christmas the lights are brilliant to see while strolling around the village. We love the cinnamon almonds and the popcorn at Christmas. The carousel is also fun and it goes really fast so my kids love to ride it. The Ferris wheel is another great option if the weather is nice.
Theresa Giffel — Google review
This is a very fun place to visit if you enjoy Christmas themed activities and/or Christmas lights.
This is not an expensive activity. You can tour the crossroads village at no charge, and the 45ish minute train ride is just over $20.00 per ticket. I loved the train ride - the cars are old fashioned and cozy, the light displays were well.done and included a few live actors, and the conductor was really nice.
There is a Christmas play that is shown regularly inside the theatre house. There is a buffet style restaurant - I had already eaten but it looked nice. There were other snacks for sale elsewhere in the village - popcorn and almonds and coffee etc. Plenty of bathrooms, lots of cool authentic old buildings to check out - there's even a tractor towed trailer that towed people around the village or you can walk it. I loved the lights, really well done.

Attended “Day out with Thomas” yesterday and had an awesome time! First time visiting Crossroads Village and was impressed with all the different sites to see, along with fun rides for the kids. Our 2 year old loved the train ride with Thomas. We were very impressed with all the Thomas activities set up throughout the village for kids to do. A great experience and we will likely come back each year for this event!
Would recommend as a fun day event for others to experience!

Enjoyed an afternoon here with my 2-year-old! The train ride was relaxing and fun, along with having a walk around the grounds. Beyond excellent customer service all around, especially from Tanner (train staff) and Mr. Tim who were so personable and kind. I'd recommend bringing your own snacks and drinks as options are extremely limited at the café (hamburgers, hot dogs, grilled cheese, chips). The broom-making young lady was exceptionally talented and so knowledgeable. We look forward to going again for the (very fast!!!) merry-go-round.

A favorite family destination for generations. The people are very friendly, the train ride is pleasant, and the carousel and Ferris wheel are surprisingly fast and fun.

We went for the day out with thomas. We had a lot of fun. They also had a color event going on. We had fun searching, but was difficult to use phone to keep search list and take photos. (Wish the scavenger hunt had a hard copy) everyone was so friendly. And so much could do.

My husband and I went here for Halloween and now Christmas as well. This place is really amazing. I don't think I appreciated it enough when I was younger. On Halloween, they encourage everyone to trick or treat, even adults, which I thought was so cool. Halloween is my absolute favorite. The lights and displays on both Halloween and Christmas were phenomenal. It is worth every penny and I very much enjoyed myself.
Sara Rabidoux — Google review
Good place to take kids for Xmas lighting & train ride. Train ride is around 35 mins to & fro where you can see lights display on both sides. Village itself is small place to find how people lived 100 years ago with open houses, school, blacksmith shop etc. A carousel is fun for everyone. Overall it’s fun place to hang around for 3-4 hours. It’s in the middle of nowhere as everything is brought here from somewhere else.
Vash B — Google review
I would give this place 5 stars 100% because it really was a great experience. My only issue during my whole visit was that one of the workers during the magic show was dressed up as a native American which heavily offended me and my family. Our culture is NOT a costume. Besides this mishap here are some of the highlight moments we experienced today. Trick or treating was a blast. All the workers passing out the candy were enthusiastic and patient. The train ride was an absolute joy. We sat in the back and the tour guid was so sweet and kind and the view was spectacular. The rides were really cool. The fact that buying the toys out front meant contributing to keeping the rides up made us buy extra and in general the prices were really fair. And the entire town was very clean. This is something I would recommend for any family or couple or anyone in general.
Cassidy Lowery — Google review
This was an amazing experience. We did the train ride and then had dinner. The train is train is pulled by a steam engine and there were Christmas displays on both sides of the track. The meal we had was very good and the village takes you back in time and was beautifully decorated. Lots of fun things for children. We would definitely go there again. Totally loved it.

We went during the Day Out With Thomas event. We had a great time with the scavenger hunt, Thomas gift shop and many Thomas themed activities.
Amy Stevens — Google review
It's amazing this place is still operating and maintained as well as it is! The rides are $1.50 to ride. The Ferris wheel is from 1910 and in spite of its tired squeaks, at 10mph, it feels surprisingly fast and fun. The carousel is also from 1910, operational and beautiful. There are no more animals since the pandemic, but plenty of restrooms, a candy store where for $2.00 kids can stuff a small brown bag to the brim. Staff said one boy managed to stuff over 60 pieces strategically for his $2.00 candy bag! Impressive. You can get a burger, hot dog and ice cream or walk through some of the historic shops and get a little history from theme dressed staff. The train ride is 40min., a separate fee I can't recall, but a family must. Crossroads Village and Huckleberry Railroad are open all summer, for Halloween and Christmas.

We went for the holiday train ride and it was absolutely wonderful! The sun set during our ride and the lights were even more magical on the return trip. The whole village was lit up, it was stunning!!! Found lots of cool gifts for loved ones and learned a lot. A great place for kids and adults alike!!!

I've been coming here since I was a kid in the 70s - since my grandfather grew up nearby. I brought my kids here for the Christmas train when they were small and now it's even better as an adult with no kids in tow. Speaking of kids, if you're hoping for a more quiet evening try to avoid Friday or Satruday. We also enjoy the sweet little buffet for dinner! Great fun and so educational.

Went for Halloween 🎃 trick and treats! I have been here several other times but like it better during the holidays. The village was all decked out with spooky decorations. The opera house had a magician 🎩 show. A maze made from stacked straw bails was in the center of the village. There's a carousel and ferris wheel 🎡 ($1.50 each to ride). 20 stops for treats ending with cider and donuts. The train ride is about 40 minutes long filled with lights and decorations. Highly recommend 💚💯💯🎃🎩🎡🚂

Love this place. We have gone here almost every year since the kids were little. The train ride is super fun and telhr village trick or treating is great. We love the somewhat old sketchy rides. The carousel is the fastest I have ever seen and the Ferris wheel is nuts. Definitely worth the drive and visit.

This was my first time here. I always did want to go as a kid and just never got the chance. I had so much fun :) the food, the sights, sounds, the train was amazing!! I'd do it all again every year, multiple times a year for many years to come!!!
Haven't been here for a while. Looks like they've lost some stores due to covid.
Still lots of great deals though, Calvin Klein, Nike, Guess are just a few of the stores with great deals, not to mention the shoe stores!
Only problem is I spent too much money.
If you're canadian, definitely worth the trip even with the exchange.

Pretty massive outlet, there's so much store to look. One day is not enough to visit all store. And you better drive from one place to the other. You can visit their website for the directory. There's plenty of large restrooms so don't worry if you need to pee.

Great shopping, especially if you're from the thumb of Michigan. Pretty stores, but you are paying for brand name. Clearance racks are not a clearance price. That's okay as those who know better know and walk out empty-handed. Good selection of stores, but companies need to seriously train their staff on customer service skills. This will, for sure, get them farther!

Took my wife there to do a little shopping. It was a fairly successful trip. She shopped a several stores. I shopped at a fairly new store that sold Barbecue sauces, rubs, and seasonings. The also sold hot sauces of all kinds from warm to hell fire and burn your face off. Just what a hot sauce aficionados would love. There is a lot of variety to choose from. You won't be disappointed.

I remember "real" outlets when it actually was "outlet" of overstocked items sold for cheap. Now it seems like merchandises are made for "outlets" and not that cheap. Still a bit cheaper than premium malls but not worth the long drive and cost of gas. Better to order online.
Brian C — Google review
Awesome experience for the family. The atmosphere is so family friendly. It was a great experience to find all your shopping needs. Offering a wide variety of outlets from outdoors, indoors, apparel, cosmetics, etc.. worth checking out if in search of more specific items and stores by specific vendors as Birch Run Outlets might have it for you. This outlet mall is home to over 100 stores which include The North Face, Adidas, Columbia, Aerie, Avon, American Eagle, and Bass Factory Outlet. This premium outlet center offers plenty of parking spaces so you can move around to different shops with ease. There are also a handful of eateries here, such as a bubble tea cafe and pizzeria. The furniture was nice quality. I didn't walk around and see what all stores were around but from what I I see they have a big variety to choose from. I would recommend visiting here with your family. It is best to give yourself two days to explore all the stores.

While there are always the standard "outlet" shops, this mall has a number of stores that are new and not necessarily part of the average outlet shops. I do wish the outlet stores charged outlet prices though. Most stores are the same price as if you went to any other mall.

The Castle Museum, which is one of the branches of Budapest History Museum, showcases the history of the city spanning over 2000 years. This museum, housed in a French Renaissance Revival-style building from 1898, has four floors that exhibit exhibitions focused on local history. Restored palace rooms dating back to the 15th century can be accessed from the two-level basement featuring three vaulted halls.
What an awesome resource for the people of saginaw and the great lakes Bay region. From the history of natural resources to the auto industry, everything is included. My favorite part was the history of the building itself. My kids lived finding all the fairy doors. Great way to spend a few hours and educational too!

This is a really cool museum at an extremely affordable price! There were 4 of us and we paid the family price of $5. Alot of history and artifacts and there is something for everyone. They are also open many days of the week including some holidays as we went on the 4th of July while in Saginaw for the Holiday weekend. Everyone was very friendly as well and the entire building was very clean and kept up well. I didn't take many pictures because I was living in the moment this day but the whole experience was better than expected from what I seen online and in other people's reviews. Would definitely recommend to go at least once!

We got to see the amazing castle from the outside, as it was closed by the time we were able to visit. Whomp! 😢
Really amazing seeing how well it is built and how beautiful it is! 🏰 I will amend this review once we are able to see the inside.
Beautiful experience even from a far!

Great history in this museum, old post office and processing area, peep holes above for the supervisor to spy on employees. Some other great displays too.

Admissions are very cheap and on the Sunday we went, it was free. There is interesting history of Saginaw on every floor and beautiful and interesting, often interactive displays. My favorite was the green spiral staircase in the tower.

This was the Best Experience at this Museum. All kinds of History that was really fascinating, and educational. I would recommend anyone who stops in Saginaw to check out this place.

Great museum to visit! It's only $5 per family for entry. There's 3 floors of exhibits and some interactive things for kids. Only a short drive off the freeway, great place to stop on a family vacation.

What a gem of local history! First time here and it was really neat to see Saginaw's past, some of the displays are set up in such a way that you feel like that era has come alive again. They don't have dinosaur bones, but everything else makes up for it! My 7 year old enjoyed this place and so did I. There's soooo much to see on all three levels. Recommend!

This building is Fabulous! There is a small parking lot in the rear of the building, so you do not need to use the street parking. You enter the museum from the back of the building and are instructed to walk to the front to check-in. Then you may proceed from there to explore the exhibits.
The cost to get into the museum was $1.00 for adults and .50 cents for kids. There are 3 levels to see. There is an elevator. There are nice clean bathrooms. There is a small selection of souvenir T-shirts and such. This museum is well kept. The lady at the front desk was very friendly and helpful.
The exhibits are great with lots of facts and stories to read. Or, just look and take it all in that way.
I loved that they had current Saginaw High School athletes displayed along with the way-back-when athletes.

We were absolutely blown away by the Castle Museum! The exhibits and collections were so well done. We spent several hours exploring. The are exhibits on the basement, first floor, and second floor. The kids loved the fairy doors found throughout the museum and all the other interactive exhibits. The building is absolutely beautiful,

Free for Saginaw County residents! Looking for something new to do? This is the place. Learning about a city that I grew up in was one of the best muesem experiences I've ever had. If you go, make sure to look for the little doors throughout the building!

We spent a lot of time here on Sunday. They have so many interesting displays. Loved it!
Zoo with interactive exhibits features 150 animals, 80 gardens & a hand-painted carousel.
Such a cute zoo! Tons of fun for the kids but also fun for adults too. Paths are paved, plenty of shade and benches to sit. The animals are all well kept with nice enclosures. There's a train and a carousel ride plus snack stands. Lots of pretty flower beds, anyone can adopt a flower bed and make your own special creations. The penguins are so adorable! When we went they were enjoying the shower of water, looked like they were playing. We go here every year, super cheap admission and cheap tickets for rides. Plus they have a cute little gift shop that's not too expensive. Recommend!

Great zoo for little people. My youngest enjoyed it & it wasn't too much walking. The older kids were a little less enthusiastic about it. It was a little chilly when we went so some of animals weren't out, but a fun and quaint zoo. Great value for the price.
We just found out (we've never been here before) that their zoo boo is one of their fundraisers. It was definitely worth the $8/ person to support a little zoo. There's a train ride around the perimeter of the zoo and it's a good view of animals in the back. They also have a carousel that holds little ones up to adults.
Great value for a half day trip. If the animals were out, it could be a great family outing.

A great place to take the kids for an afternoon of fun. This place is much more than a zoo!
There are lots of fun things to do and experience here, from park playsets to fossil digs to floating bridges, there's something for everyone!

This is a very nice and very well kept up with children's zoo. The animals were spaced out perfectly and had wonderful viewable areas. There are plenty of places to stop with the little ones to rest in shade. There is a great playground area that offers shade for adults. The nature gardens are beautiful and decorated very nice. They have scavenger hunts and crafts throughout as well. It was pretty cool that peacocks just roam around.

It has evolved over the years. Even though the whale gift shop is gone, the train is still awesome. We love the new variety of animals. The admission and gift shop have reasonable prices. It's worth it just to play at the playground equipment even. If you haven't been there recently, it's time to go back!

I love this place I have been taking my kids for 16 years!!! ❤
It's only 5$ and kids 3 and under are free!!! It's 1$ to ride the carousel and the train.
Everyone who works here is so nice and always willing to help. I've never in 16 years had a bad experience here. They go above and beyond to make sure you and the kids have a blast!
Can't wait to go back in 2023 it's the only time I feel like a kid again 😹

The PRAIRIE DOGS! This place is a must go simply for the prairie dog exhibit. They are the cutest, most lively form of entertainment I have seen at any zoo! Among the rest of the creatures at this fantastic place were birds, gators, wolves, deer, goats, monkeys, penguins, alpacas, and lamas. (I’m probably missing some.) The many flower gardens make it an absolutely breathtaking experience. All of the staff seem so happy to work there and be around the animals. The animals are well taken care of and happy to! We will definitely be back!

Perfect outing with our two year-old grandson. The grounds are so well taken care of and clean. Fun train ride and carousel as well as a playground, fossil find and miniature baseball diamond. Just enough animals to make it interesting and not overwhelming. Highly recommend.

We had a group of 8. 5 kids and 3 adults. For the 48 dollars it cost is, it was well worth it! The kids had a blast. We saw lots of different animals, and even all rode the train. Would definitely visit again! There's a few hands on things that the kids can do as well! I love to look at all their different garden set ups from donors as well. It's truly a beautiful zoo!

I had the pleasure of visiting the Saginaw zoo today with my partner and children. It is a small, but beautiful zoo that is perfect for a day out with the family. We have been going to this zoo since we were kids, and it is great to share the experience with our children.
The zoo is always making improvements, and it is clear that the staff is dedicated to providing a great experience for visitors. The animals are well-cared for and the exhibits are clean and well-maintained.
While the train was closed due to construction it usually gives a unique perspective of the zoo. The train ride is a great way to see all of the animals, and it is a lot of fun for kids. I can’t wait for the train to be back after the construction improvements.
Overall, we had a great time at the Saginaw zoo. It is a great place to visit with the family, and we would definitely recommend it to others.

We decided to stop here as a surprise for our kids (ages 9y and 7y) on the way back from a nearby staycation. I am so happy we did! This is a great, unique little zoo. There were a few exhibits down, but I think you come across that at any zoo. They also had some new enclosures being built, which makes me excited for a later visit. The floating bridge over the marsh walk was my favorite! The zoo was very affordable (entry for 4 people, and 2 tickets for the carousel only ran us $32), and thankfully it was not overcrowded either (we got there about 1230pm on a Monday). The animals all looked healthy and the staff there was friendly and professional. Our family has food allergies, and the staff at the food service areas had no problem helping us find safe foods, it was greatly appreciated. We took our time enjoying every bit of the small zoo, we ended up staying about 4hrs, but you could easily get through it much faster. Overall, I'm really glad we stopped, it was a great day outing for all of us, and I definitely plan to go back again next year to see the new exhibits and ride the train.

Great zoo for children! Plan to spend about 3 to 4 hours. Nice little petting farm, children's play area, fossil hunt in the giant sandbox, train, and carousel as well. They allow you to park strollers at the train boarding area so you don't take them on with you. My 2 year old gson had a blast!

Nice smaller zoo. They have a wonderful playground and fossil dig(sandbox) so the kids can burn off some energy. You can easily get through the whole zoo in an hour or two or stay longer with various activities for the kids. The carousel is nice and they have a floating bridge in the lily pond. Lots of animals for a small zoo.

Small zoo. Very adorable for a nice afternoon trip. Took about 25 mins to view most of the animals. I believe this was opening weekend so a few of the animals were not out yet. There was a nice carousel ride as we were leaving. There was also some food options. My brother loved it. I’d go back if it wasn’t so far from my home.

A couple things changed since previous years. You can no longer enter the bird area and a couple paths have been blocked or re routed. We always have a good time with our little one and teens who loves to look at all the different animals. Lots of things to look at and see. Good, cheap, family friendly place to visit.
Only thing I would like to see change is the underwater area windows need to be cleaned. When we started attending yearly about 7 years ago we were able to see thru at the fish.
The Flint Institute of Arts is a stunning museum that houses an extensive and diverse collection of European and American art dating back to the 15th century. Visitors can enjoy learning about different cultures while admiring ancient art from around the world. The glass gallery, in particular, is a highlight with glassblowing demonstrations available to watch.
The FIA is such a treasure! Art is incredible and so varied. A huge variety of activities and events. Art classes for kids and adults. So much to offer, take advantage of this community asset!

We went to see the “Enchanted: A History of Fantasy Illustration” exhibit, which was great and fun for the whole family. We didn’t know that they had an ongoing glass blowing presentation by the UM-Flint students, so we were all delighted to sit through their expressive performance. Had a wonderful afternoon. Will come back again.

My first visit ever to FIA but Imma gonna come back! I noticed FIA is located in what appears to be a whole complex of art related centers. Admission and parking are free but there is a box into which you can drop donations. Great displays of Asian, African, Artic Rim art. Great collections of oil painting and sculptures. I loved the display emphasizing Detroit art and it's influences. I learned so much.

The museum is a beautiful place to visit! My kids loved the ancient art from around the world and listening to me explain about the different cultures. I particularly loved the glass gallery. We stopped in for glassblowing demonstrations as well. My older son has every one of his questions patiently answered. My younger son used to do the free preschool art classes on Fridays, he loved learning the different techniques. I think his favorite was making a pinch pot.

This art museum has one of the best glass exhibitions in the country. I like it even better than the Corning museum in New York. They even often have a glass blowing demonstration that is super interesting. The rest of the museum is awesome too. Like most small museums you'll get much more variety than you'll see at the big museums in New York, Detroit, or Chicago. It's also easy to get through before you get exhausted. 2-3 hours is plenty to see the standing collection and spend some time watching them blow glass.

Such a nice museum, loved the exhibits which are very inspiring and intricately put together. Visited on a weekend and the entry was free. Moreover they have art school and different programs for engagement of the visitors. The gift shop had very cute things to shop for. The highlight would be their glass exhibit with exceptional masterpieces!

Splendid museum. Last time I was there was 2016, so the ceramics and glass rooms weren't there. They are both wonderful additions to the museum. (the glass room was my favorite)
Everyone I interacted with, from the front desk, to the Cafe, the gift shop, and the docents, were wonderful and welcoming.
The library is always a pleasure to peruse- such an impressive collection!

It's been a few minutes since our last visit to FIA. Wonderful art collection & the special displays were amazing! The glass exhibit was super cool & luckily the delicate glass is behind glass! The Renaissance & Baroque room was off the charts. The Security Guard, super nice, explained that the collection of tapestry was the largest known collection consisting of 10 tapestries. Stunning. Loved that most of the art had audio stories that you can access on your phone AND also access via FIA's web site! The little cafe was very busy during lunch, so the food must be good.
I absolutely enjoyed the visit!

Prior to visiting the FIA I didn't know that much about it. I was blown away by how nice it is. This museum is definitely worth a visit. I would say you'd need at least a few hours to see the bulk of it. But you would probably need multiple visits to see it all.

A gem of an art museum!
For a small town, this is an incredible art museum. The variety of exhibits the day we visited, the incredible quality of various sculptures dispersed throughout the building, and even a life glass making demonstration made for a very memorable visit. The standard that this art museum presented was a very pleasant surprise!
Definitely worth your visit if you’re around the area and looking for an enriching experience!

This was my first time visiting the museum, though my husband had visited in the past. We were both very impressed by their expansion; both the design and acquisition of new exhibits. The galleries were impressive and well cared for.
We attended today primarily to see the traveling Art in Fantasy exhibit, and it did not disappoint.
A particularly moving exhibit on display, which we hadn’t anticipated seeing, chronicled the Flint Water Crisis. I was truly moved.
Additional surprise perks of the visit were the lovely gift shop, which contained pieces by local artisans and student works. It also featured a wonderful eatery with surprisingly delightful food options.
If you live near or plan to visit the Flint area, be sure to set apart some time to see this wonderful museum.
Holly Recreation Area is a vast woodland expanse that offers numerous outdoor activities such as hiking, fishing, biking, and camping. Additionally, visitors can enjoy disc golfing and lounging on the lake beach. The campground has small sites compared to other state parks but also offers rustic cabin rentals. During winter camping, electric heat kept the tent warm enough at 50F despite a nighttime low of 25F.
This is our first visit here. Very quiet, beautiful sites, plenty for the family to do. Lots of trails, a beach with water activities for the kids. I highly recommend Holly.
There are 2 issues, many of the sites are not level. If at all possible, drive thru and pick a good site. The other issue is no sanitation dump. They say it will be available in 2023.
Phil Polderdyke — Google review
This review is for camping. Like other reviewers mentioned, the sites are very small compared to other State campgrounds. We were in a tent trying winter camping. With electric heat, our tent stayed around 50F, which was amazing because the nighttime low was 25F. We were quite comfy on our air mattresses.
We loved hiking and picking up wood for our campfire. We need to bring a wagon next time since it wasn't practical hauling wood around while hiking.
The trails were well kept and mostly dry, which was a surprise considering it had rained the day before.
The campground has rustic cabins to rent if you do not have a tent or RV.

Once we actually found where to park in this large state park we enjoyed our hike around Wildwood Lake, but good luck finding your way there by GPS if you search for Holly Recreation Area. We got sent twice to a spot on different dirt roads with no trail access whatsoever. Do a search for Wildwood Lake instead.
The trail markers also were poorly maintained or vandalized (see photos) but the trail itself was very enjoyable. We saw several sandhill cranes, and our first bluebirds of the year were a thrill. Also got to see a red-bellied woodpecker working on cracking a big nut. Lots of new plants sprouting up including skunk cabbage and marsh mallow, lots of mosses, lichen and fungi.
Overall, it was a lot of trouble compared to other state parks to find our way there and then find our way around, but it was well worth it!

Holly Recreation Area and Campground was a perfect place for our entire extended family to enjoy a long week camping. The campsites are spacious and surrounded by plenty of trees, offering privacy and shade on almost every site. The lake is perfect for swimming, fishing, and boating, with a boat launch and fishing pier available for easy access.

It was a cold January morning and just what was needed after cleaning & clearing out the childhood home. The trials are well marked and very good maps at appropriate points on the way. The trail was packed snow from the many fat tire riders. We hoped to use snowshoes but not necessary nor were micro spikes.

Nice State Park located in Northern Oakland County just minutes from I 75. Campground side is nice, sites very spaced out and lots and lots of trees/forest in between. On the other side (need to drive if possible) is the day use Park and has a lovely beach with lots of beach front and close bathrooms and several picnic takes. Plus the Whoa Zone which is reasonably priced and super fun for kids.

Holly Recreation Area has plenty in offer with disc golf, hiking, walking, swimming, volleyball, kayaking, biking, play ground and picnic areas in the summer and snowshoeing and cross country in the winter. The park is pretty however, the map is rather difficult to follow. There isn’t a #17 on the map, but there is a #17 trail marker. The park opens at 8 am to 10 pm. There are life guards at the water inflatable area, but not on the beach. There is a store that offers a sundry of items. Best to travel the park by vehicle first and then pick your area. If you have a recreation park pass purchased through the state, it is free. However, if you don’t, the cost is $17 for the year.
The look and feel of the new farmers market is awesome. Can’t say enough about how much Flint needs more things like this. Being able to get fresh produce and connect with local vendors was super dope. Can’t wait to visit again.

Let's go flintown! The farmer's market has got it going on. If your looking for a quick bite or a place to wander and take in the goodies it's here. excellent food with a wide variety that will please everyone. Wine and craft beers. Meats, cheeses, fresh farm products and some of the salad you can get(I don't like salad) and Crust bakery has a booth but hurry the good stuff sells fast. It's a great meeting place to explore what flint has to offer there is usually plenty of parking. The farmer's market is safe and has security and is well lit and maintained. Handicap parking in the front and lots of space for renting to sell goods or browse other offerings. It's one of the best things flints got going. You will not be disappointed.

We have been here multiple time lately and the actual theater is always nice the place is clean. The people who work there always seem like we are bugging them if we ask for an item that they are sold out of or if there is too many people in line. I do recommend to go to this theater the chairs are comfortable and if ever there is a problem I can say that will make sure they do their best to make it right

Went to see a 9:45 pm showing of Black Adam on a Friday night. The theater was surprisingly empty! Only 6 of us were there. The young lady working at the ticket and concessions counter got us taken care of quickly and was super friendly! Food and drinks are a little pricey. Candy is almost $5 and drinks are around that price as well but it's free refills for those. There are so many soda flavors to choose from, Sprite had 6 flavors alone! The bathrooms were clean, butter and drink stations were clean and the cinema we were in was spotless!

Fairly decent facility however their recent addition to beer and wine leaves much to be desired because of the fact there is no reward for spending $20 a drink.
The particular theater where Blue beetle was playing was atrociously filthy..empty buckets and trash. All patrons had to exit because the staff after having brought to her attention the disarray of the theater called for attendant associates to clean it up which caused adverse and stress on patrons for what should of been done beforehand of seating the attendees

We just got done with a Wednesday night 5:35 showing of the movie “talk to me”. When we walked into the theatre, the wrong movie was playing. We went to ask about it and waited for them to fix it. It got fixed and then we sat through a half hour of ads and repeated commercials. Right when the movie starts to come on, the lights turn on. We leave the theatre for a second time to let someone know and ask for help. We start watching the movie and right when the climax of the movie seems to be happening, it just shuts off. We leave the theatre for a third time to ask for help and get it fixed. After waiting for about 5 min for it to come back on, we both decided we were over it because of how annoying our experience had already been and decided to leave. Worst experience I have ever had at a theatre. I feel like I wasted my money because we were both too frustrated to wait around and see if the movie would ever get back up and running again.

We always have a great time on our movie dates at NCG. We have a favorite employee, Avie, who always puts a smile on our face. She is the sweetest gal.
We like buying our tickets in advance online so we can reserve our seats. Its worth it to spend a couple bucks to splurge on the reclining seats. So comfy!
There is just something about sitting with great company sharing some laughs or tears over a good movie that never gets old. ♡

I love this theater. It's clean, the staff is kind and helpful, seats are comfortable and popcorn is always fresh tasting.
Their prices could be a bit cheaper though.
I think popcorn and one pop shouldn't be $20 on top of the $15 per ticket. Just me by myself today with one VIP seat ticket ($14), a large drink($9), and some pretzel bites($9), came to $32.
So expect to spend $100 and up per time, depending on how many people come with you.

Preordered tickets to see the first showing of a movie on Black Friday with my kids. I understand it’s busy but it’s this is so poorly managed mixing all the shoppers with the people who actually want to see a movie and are on a schedule. Doors opened at 9 and movie started at 915. Currently 930 and still have at least 6 people ahead of us before we get to the register with people getting at least a dozen gift cards all for a promo of a bucket of popcorn.
$80 worth of movie ticket and not including a the popcorn and drinks. Truly unacceptable. If I could give it less than 1 star I would. Thanks NCG for now having 4 upset kids that have to miss the start of their movie.

Seating is amazing here it's pretty comfortable. The prices are extremely high though. The food is outrageous. They have a lot to choose from but it's so expensive. It's always clean and there are bathrooms on every end which I appreciate. The Coke machine offers so many choices you could try something new everyday for a month. They do not layer the butter at the counter so you really make a mess trying to get it inside your big thing of popcorn on your own. The staff is friendly if not slow moving. It's a hit or miss. But they're always showing the latest movies with the most comfortable seating in the area so you spring.

I go during the day. I love the reclining, heated seats. (They're an upcharge) Staff is friendly enough. The theater is clean. Of course concessions are ridiculously priced because it's the movies. I do miss the flavors for the popcorn. But I would drive past another theater to come here.

Usually places in Grand Blanc feel cheap and fake, but this place is actually very nice. It’s clean, well built, conveniently located and there are a ton of auditoriums, with a massive IMAX theater in the back that makes you feel special just for being there. Only thing is trying to call them from google maps is impossible because it’s just an automated menu. Other than that, a great place to see movies.

We go frequently and like the atmosphere. Snacks are pricey but we always get the popcorn bucket on good Friday so saves us thru out the year on popcorn. Also picked up several gift cards at a great discount so that also helps.

This place has become ridiculous. Employees can't even speak clearly so you can understand them. Place was dirty. Hot and muggy with no A/C. The seats we selected online were not the same as what was labeled in the theater. $65 for 2 kids 1 adult 2 small popcorn and 3 small drinks. Emagine theater s are way better!

I enjoyed the clean friendly atmosphere an I was able to have a glass of wine while the kids had free refills an popcorn 🍿 🙌❤️

Service might as well have been in reverse, went to see the new minus one in Imax, they played 30 minutes of Beyonce instead, got my refund and left....won't be back, the heated seats that recline, those are in the lobby outside of the imax you're about to go see but not in the theatre itself. False advertising all around and run by clowns.
Jason Perry — Google review
The only reason I spend $40 on a movie date is for the popcorn. I was given an $8 bucket full of tiny crumbs and kernels with a layer of popcorn on top. I’ve never been to a theater so hard up for profit that they resort to serving crumbs!
Angela Wendel — Google review
The theater light flickered on and off the entire movie and when I asked an usher if there was any way to turn it off they shrugged their shoulders and said “Oh yeah, that’s been like that for a while.” and walked away. Asked for a refund in October 2023 and January 2024 still waiting on it. I called the manager multiple times since being approved for a refund. Never happened. I won’t be visiting this theater again. I’m not one to leave bad reviews but bad customer service in an industry that is already failing is a terrible way to keep a company afloat.

Nice theater. Comfortable seats. I like the retro shows .

Never left a review in my life but after this I have to warn people. I just spent $60 to sit down in a dirty iMax with popcorn and garbage all over the floor I stepped over and around trash on the floor. I had to clean the cupholders out that had tissues and garbage in them and I had to kick trash away from the seats (bottles and other miscellaneous trash) for both myself and my date. I went to the bathroom before the show and stepped into a wet floor and what I can only assume was puddles of water and piss in front of the toilet. When we left garbage was everywhere all over the theater lobby, bathrooms, butter station, vestibules, and soda fountains; the slushy fountain was covered in trash and was all over the floor. Shrink-flatiron hit this place hard as well; drinks are significantly smaller and for the same price and the popcorn was basically crumbs with some popcorn. I was exceedingly disappointed as this was once what felt like a really nice place to go. I don’t know what happened but I will not be returning. Which is a shame as it is so close I’ll drive farther to go somewhere else. As for the price this is nuts.

Love this theatre but they definitely need to update, have a makeover of some kind. Nice they offer beer & wine now, for date nights.

Great theatre! No reclining seats but the seats are new and VERY comfy! I was very comfortable in a 3-hour movie, and I will definitely be back!

My boyfriend, his brother, and I all went to see Wonka last night in IMAX. The manager who helped us at the counter was amazing. David W the manager was more than accommodating to our needs. He offered to escort us to our seats and helped us carry our food. He was so friendly and helpful. A smile never left his face. I have been going to Trillium since I was a little girl. It is my absolute favorite theater. David W worked his butt off and deserves a raise. Thank you Trillium staff for being so amazing. I will continue to return for more movies. We love you 💕 Keep on doing what you are doing. Highly recommend this theater to everyone. David W went above and beyond to make our visit absolutely perfect and memorable. Thank you so much for all your help David 💕

Family-run farm with pick-your-own apples, hay wagon rides & a huge corn maze, plus a winery.
The donuts inside are we're good. They had a really nice play place for the kids to play. For some of the rides you need to purchase tickets. They had some farm animals. There was a train ride that took you around the orchard. They do take credit cards. The cider and donut line moved extremely fast!

The ciders and wines are excellent and high quality. The ciders are smooth with a wide variety of flavors. The wines are very tasty especially the Honey White. The staff are friendly and helpful. A gift shop is also on property where they offer treats and specialty gifts. Highly recommend visiting and tasting a half wine flight or a full flight in the tasting room. ❤️

We stopped here because of the good reviews and all it showed they had to offer. They have a winery that has great drinks and service! They also had a ton of stands set up where you could get hot food and snacks. They had lots for adults and kids, making it perfect for families. I have been to a lot of orchards, and this is definitely one of my favorites. Cant wait for my favorite time of the year to come back around!

Absolutely amazing! Best cider mill I've ever been to. The doughnuts were so fresh, soft, and yet crisp. The cider was deliciously sweet. And, they have so many attractions to keep the kids entertained! We hope to come back and test a flight at the winery next time.

First time visiting this place with the 20mo old. She loved the play area, the animals, and the doughnuts. We recommend going here if you have some little ones. Definitely try picking your own fruits from the orchards but buy some sweets and local gifts from the country store.

A family run farm with a market and winery that is open year round.
We went on a Friday afternoon and it was not too crowded. You pay 3.00 a person to pick. They take you by wagon to the orchards. When you are done picking, they weigh your container and you pay for your berries.
We picked a pint of raspberries and a container of blueberries. They also have a sunflower field that you cut your own sunflowers..$10 for 5.
Next up will be peaches in August. Apple picking is the most popular but they do sell fresh donuts, cider and fudge year round in the market. Prices are very reasonable and the staff are super friendly.
After picking we sat in the outdoor area by the tasting room to sample some of their wines and ciders. They also have a kitchen serving a few food items. The Coney Dog was amazing!
For a fun day out in the country, Spicers is the place to go.
John Moore — Google review
Spicers does things right. Donuts and Cider are delicious. All kinds of activities and different food options on the weekends. Not very busy during the week and a lot of things are not open. So many different options of snacks and more inside the barn. You can ride on the hey ride and pick your own pumpkin out at the patch. Overall a great experience. Lots of parking and not a lot of waiting to purchase anything. Would definitely be back when I'm looking for a good Donut and Cider spot.
J W — Google review
Spicers was such a fun day out! They had so many animals, a great playground area, wonderful store with some of the best donuts and surprisingly amazing cookies! The hay ride was so fun and the driver did a great job of describing the apple 🍎 orchard lay out. They have different kinds of apples and had multiple stops for getting off to pick off different fields. The staff was all so kind and helpful with everything. I appreciated all the hand washing stations and sanitizer bottles placed through out the farm. They have more going on during the weekends: they add a train ride and have some mini theme park rides, etc. but weekdays are nice and quiet and usually have more older couples coming out for some cider, donuts and the winery.

Stopped in while driving by today, and so glad we did!!! The cider was amazing, and that Ice Wine is delicious!!! Steve answered our many questions in the tasting room.... that guy should get a raise! The little bakery and shop is filled with goodies. I can't wait to go back.

We went to the train ride and cabin and it was awesome. Going into the cabin to see Santa one on one made things a lot easier for our little, to give him alittle time to adjust and not get overwhelmed, and the train ride was nice for him to be able enjoy the ride and look around. I definitely recommend going and taking bc the kids. After everything, you get hot chocolate or cider and a donut.
Ashley Farrer — Google review
We came to pick apples and enjoyed the day! You pay in advance for your apple bags and then wait for the tractor wagon to pick you up and take you to the orchard. The wait wasn't long. The shoppe had a lot of things inside, including the fresh fruit, but also jams and jellies, popcorn, ice cream, donuts, cider and more.
there is a play area outside that I did not see anyone at, I wonder if it is only open on the weekends. We did not pay for an admission fee. My family also enjoyed the donuts. There is also an animal area.
Kathryn Friedlund — Google review
Popular Fall favorite. This place can be very busy on weekends. Plenty to do to keep the kids entertained and full of sugar. Must try the cider and cider apple donuts. There are wagon hay rides that can take you to pick apples and several kid carnival style games. If it is a great weather Fall weekend be prepared to search for parking and then walking to get to the Orchard. They also have a winery that does serve some appetizers and sandwiches on certain days, check before you go.

Still a good place to visit.
They did move the food trucks. More parking for everyone. They even added live music.
Not so many people because of Covid19. Still a decent amount of people.
The atmosphere is still the same.
I should add, the play area for the kids is only $2. A lot cheaper than Blake's.
Both, Blake's and Spicers have really outdone themselves. Great job to both places for bringing meaning to "Cider Mill" or "Apple orchard".

Going to many cider mills, I was not going to get excited. We heard of this place because everyone was going there. Fenton? That's pretty far away! Boy was I surprised! This place was like an amusement park for the kids. Animals, rides, food, etc. Wow. Giving this place a 10! for the effort. Wow. You really need to see this place to enjoy it. They had ZIP lines, jumping thing, etc. You can ride a pony! Pet an animal. Walk a MAZE. Enjoy a hay ride or pick apples yourself. There was about 200-300 cars out today. Sept 25, 2016. Nice numbers.
Come here if you are on the West side of Detroit.

We did the corn maze and loved it. It's not easy! Then a wine tasting and the store. Going back another time to try the ice cream flight, yes that's a thing. 5 ice cream samples for 8.50. If you have children, there's lots for them too - small petting zoo, playground equipment, donuts and cider, wagon rides, and life size checkers. Definitely recommend.
Massive green space offers 2 beaches, a golf course & nature center with exhibits & guided hikes.
Ample, well kept park with plenty of small lakes, pavilions and open piquenique/barbecue areas, beach, farm center, and a number of long Nature trails with plenty of wild life particularly birds, including turkeys, white and blue egrets, woodpeckers, sandhill cranes, swans, cardinals, bluejays to name a few. A nice park for quiet relaxation year round.

This is a gem of a park with tons of wild life and great places to walk your dog and hang out and BBQ. I would say, though, that once it gets closer to sunset, please make sure to wear bug spray and you are near water. Sunsets themselves are gorgeous! I highly recommend checking this park out. Excellent nature retreat in Metro Detroit. Also, you need a Metro Parks pass to get in or pay the daily admission fee. I recommend getting the pass!!

The red trail was so awesome! There is so much wildlife to see.
Many birds ate birdseed right from my hand, which was an awesome experience. The restroom was nice too. It's a building, not a Porta potty.
I highly recommend this place.
And, in some spots, the mosquitoes & flies were a bit annoying, but other than that, they weren't that bad.

Love this park! Tons of stuff from disc golf to horse riding and amazing bike paths abound. Beaches are packed in the summer, but you can find some hidden spots if you look. Fishing for anglers, paddle boats for the couples, nature center for activities and learning. One of the biggest disc golf events of the year is held at the toboggan hills. Great place to see eagles, cranes, deer, turtles, etc. $10/day and I think $55 for the year. Well worth it. Gotta check out Holdens on Milford rd for amazing food, beer pop and water, disc golf discs, fishing gear, and snacks galore.

This is my number one favorite Metropark.
During summer there are lots of fun activities for kids and adults.
You can also visit the farm area.
There are many spots for picnic, some by the water and some not.
The beach is also really nice in summer time and it gets crowded during weekends.
Fall is a whole different story here, you would see many many different colors.
If you’re planning to take good fall pictures I do recommend to go here.

Kensington Metropark is a beautiful park located in Milford, Michigan. It is home to a variety of activities and amenities, making it a great place to spend a day with family and friends.
We enjoyed the nature trails so many birds, chipmunks, squirrels and rabbits. Some birds came very close to us and we enjoyed seeing them so close up. The boardwalk near the nature center is a good place to spot fish and we saw a huge prehistoric looking turtle. This was a nice place to visit.
William Julien — Google review
It can be a busy place on the weekend, but it’s a huge park with lots to do. Bird watching is fabulous and they eat right out of your hand (so do the chipmunks!) be prepared to drive around to the separate areas (farm, nature center, playground/beach area, splash and blast water park).

I enjoy visiting Kensington Metropark as much as possible no matter the season. Feeding the many wild birds from the palm of my hand is the highlight of my visit. Many different birds may be encountered, as well as deer, turtles, and chipmunks. The Farm is always a joy to visit and pet the goats. If you get a chance right now, you may go down the sledding hills, cross country skiing and hike the paths. A place I recommend visiting anytime of the year.

Great park. Some reviews knock on the fireworks event, but when I went a few years ago it went fine. The disc golf courses are nice and challenging, and do require an extra fee most of the time. Good for hiking and biking. Nice for fall colors as well.

Great place for taking wildlife photos! Some of the bird species you’ll see are sandhill cranes, geese, red-winged blackbirds, wild turkey, herons, and swans. Check with your local library regarding free daily passes. This park has something for everyone: a farm, beaches, kayaking, bird watching, places to bbq, bike trails, and more!

Kensington Metropark is an absolute gem for nature lovers! The park's vast 4,481 acres offer a wide range of recreational activities and breathtaking scenery. Whether you're into hiking, biking, picnicking, swimming, or fishing, there's something for everyone here. The well-maintained trails and serene lakes create the perfect setting for a relaxing day outdoors.
I was particularly impressed with the variety of wildlife and birdwatching opportunities the park has to offer. It's a paradise for bird enthusiasts, and I spotted numerous species during my visit. The Nature Center is also worth a visit, providing informative exhibits and educational programs.
If you're bringing the family, the Splash 'n' Blast water park is a fantastic spot for kids to cool off during hot summer days. Additionally, the farm center is a hit with children, allowing them to interact with farm animals and learn about agriculture.
The only minor drawback I encountered was the occasional crowds, especially on weekends and holidays, but it's understandable given the park's popularity. Overall, Kensington Metropark is a must-visit destination for anyone seeking a day of outdoor adventure and natural beauty.

I have been going to Kensington Park since high school. Now I take the grandchildren. The Park is always evolving and improving for the enjoyment of it's patrons. There is a beautiful, peaceful lake for boating, fishing and swimming, with very nice beaches. They have a children's splash park at one of the beaches and an amazing play scape with a padded ground below it at another. Lots of pavilions and picnic areas/tables throughout the park. Plenty of trails for hiking, jogging and biking. My favorites are the petting farm and nature center. Kensington is a great place to unwind, relax and connect yourself to nature.

Beautiful metropark to run, walk, bike, fish, kayak and more. An 8.5 mile paved path with add-on trails circles Kent Lake along with multiple fishing docks at the west boat launch parking area. Deer, sand cranes, turkeys, ospreys and eagles can also be spotted here. Great place to get outdoors all year long.

Kensington is always a great stop for our son as well as the adults. We enjoy the Farm center seeing the goats playing, wild turkeys in the background. Constant wildlife to enjoy and many areas to check out, even the Nature center and it'd surrounding area always has multiple trails, viewing areas, wild animals almost at your fingertips.

Lots to do! I enjoy the nature walking trails, the hilly 8 mile bicycle loop, renting kayaks, and going to the beach.
I highly recommend doing the ferry boat tour of the lake, located next to the kayak rental. You will likely see bald eagles on this tour - I did. I also like the nature center.
A great place for a beach day or a picnic.

Excellent collection of performance vehicles!
Room1 is Ferraris and other exotics, including a MacLaren
Room 2 is mainly C3 and C4 Corvettes
Room 3 has a ton of other fast vehicles, mostly from GM
We were there for the annual Boy Scouts (adult leaders) dinner and this was a perfect location for the event! One Troop cooked BBQ ribs and chicken (we're scouts, right?) and our tables were set up in the wide aisle between the Corvettes.
My only issue is that Google Maps took me to another location with the same street name and number, but maybe I made a mistake. So confirm your maps destination.

My fiance and I drove from the upper peninsula all the way down the night before just to see this fantastic collection! I had read about the benefit for cancer from Mlive a few days prior and definitely had to make the trip down! Definitely worth it!! The amount of people who came out there was absolutely amazing! I had the opportunity to not only meet Ken but also take a picture with him. We talked for several minutes about several things and I appreciate his taking the time to do so. I told him about my younger brother who had passed away last year from a heart attack. My brother would have absolutely loved to have seen those beautiful cars! I told Ken how my brother had started a car club in Colorado which has grown to a few thousand. Anyway this whole experience was fantastic and so worth the long drive! Thank you for allowing us to view your collection

Edit 12/4/22 - Please know this is a collection that is only open during a few open houses each year. Car clubs that are invited periodically.
Beautiful collection with a wide variety of cars, not just from General Motors. Many unique 1of1 Corvettes are housed here including the Duntov Mule. The vehicles are in immaculate condition. Ken and Kristen are fantastic people who do a lot for the community and go out of their ways to help others.
Edit 1 - For those who attend events here, there is a fantastic variety of men, women, and children’s apparel. Some toys, hats, keychains and so much more. It’s all Corvette, Camaro, and Lingenfelter certified merchandise. They even have apparel and pins with the cancer ribbon on them. Excellent prices and everything is of the highest quality. You can purchase their merchandise on eBay and soon their new website. It will then be shipped straight to your door.
Original- lot of the historical Corvettes here are the only ones in existence. Some iconic American cars from the past from GM. Some exotic cars too. Ken and his wife Kristen are the nicest people and help a lot of charities with the donations they get from open houses. Well worth going when a charity event is held. A once in a lifetime opportunity.
There is a lot of GM Corvette apparel and accessories on sale here. They sell clothes and pins to help with breast cancer research as well. There is plenty of handicap parking on site and everyone is extremely friendly and helpful.

This museum focused on steam-era railroad technology offers visitors a variety of train excursions.
November 2021 - family of 5 went on the Polar express. We went on a Saturday night and had a blast. My 3 daughters are under 10. We went on Vixen and the 2 young ladies did a great job keep us entertained. We go to Ashley, MI. Its a small town and we went right to Santa. Didn't wait long. A lot of things for the kids to do. The wheels were completely off the train. Our tour guide that we had which is very informative about everything. I really enjoyed all he was telling me. The North Pole Express was a magical experience. We went with a group of my Mom-Friends and our kids. We got the seats in the dining cars. The kids sipped on hot cocoa, had delicious treats brought to us on the on the way there and back. The staff in our car (Holly) lead Christmas songs and shared historical information about the train. The conductor came around on the way home and signed the Polar Express book that we bought in Ashley. Ashley completely transformed into the North Pole. All of the staff and vendors there were so incredibly joyful and in character! I was so impressed, it was Disney level commitment. There was a free magic show there, the Grinch, shops, rides, a toy shop where kids could make a toy and so many nods to the Polar Express movie. We loved it! Worth every penny and we will definitely do this again. Also making a trip back to Ashley because we didn’t get to do everything.
If you go, definitely wear your pajamas like in the movie! Lots of people do this or wear matching shirts and holiday hats, necklaces, etc. You can bring snacks on the train, so that is great. Water bottles and non-sugary snacks are a good idea for the kiddos.

A cute little Norman chateau style castle that was built in 1924 by author, James Oliver Curwood. This hidden gem is located in downtown Owosso next to the Shiawassee River. It doesn’t take long to go through the museum. You can go at your own pace without a tour guide. As a matter of fact, we had the whole place to ourselves. At the time of his death (age 49), Curwood was the highest paid author in the world. Curwood was a conservationist and wrote about the Great Northwest and many of his lead characters were animals. Several of his books were adapted into films such as “The Grizzly King” that was made into the movie, “The Bear”. John Wayne also starred in one of the movies called, “The Trail Beyond” adapted from the book, “The Wolf Hunters”. There is such rich history to be found in this yellow castle in downtown Owosso.

Very Cool Place! We learned a lot! Awesome area to spend a little time. Highly recommend.

Awesome building to go see. It's right on the river. Certain days and times you can pay money to go inside and see historical items and writings. There is also an old cabin from the 17 or 1800's on the property. The entire place has string lights, so it's a really great site to see at night! The art gallery is right next to it as well and open the same days and times. Highly recommend checking it all out!

Very beautiful and peaceful place. I can understand why an author could complete alot of books here. We went on a Monday but it was closed but you can walk around and read information posted around the property.

A small cute building, not sure exactly should be called castle. Perfect location off the river bank, the writer Curwood used as study/writing room. A good roadside stop if you are in the area.

Very interesting small museum. $5 admission is worth it. The main floor and tower study are focused on Curwood. The basement has several displays focused on other famous figures from Owosso. The nearby park is lovely! The Abiding the Vine tea room is nearby and we went there too for a pleasant day in Owosso.

This place is an awesome monument to the author James Oliver Curwood. The staff are lovely and very friendly. They have a vast knowledge of the history of Mr. Curwood and his life and involvement in the town. The castle and surrounding park is beautifully maintained. Would highly recommend a visit, especially during the festival when all the art vendors and reenactors are out.

This spot is unique to the area and definitely a cool place to come check out. The castle itself holds some interesting history given to you by folks who are perfect for this sort of thing. Even just in the area outside the castle by the river, you will find a nice place to come relax for a moment and listen to the sound of the water. It would be a cool thing to bring visiting family to check out. Wish we had more places such as this in the immediate area.

This is such a well taken care of place to find peace of mind. Occasionally you'll come across ill intended teen agers running amuck chasing the wildlife away. Lots of geese & ducks to enjoy along the river. Such a serene, beautiful place.

It’s a great stop if you’re somewhat in the area. If you don’t know anything about the author, it may not be as interesting but the castle is cool to checkout. The tours were only $5 per person so it’s worth checking out
Great time for our sons birthday party. A huge jungle gym, laser tag & arcade games. Our room was clean & the staff was attentive. Our birthday package came with pizza, drinks, goodie bags for each guest, $10 game cards for each kid & a build a bear for the birthday boy. Highly recommend for a birthday party or for some time out with your kids.

I wouldn't recommend take your kids over here. The ground doesn't cover with evafoam or any kind of cushions for kids fall. Most of kid ground has some sort of fall protection foam. This place doesn't. My daughter just falled over at this place and hit her head on the ground. take kids here at your own risks.

Great value for hours of burning energy. We brought an 8 and 3 year old here on a Friday afternoon and had a blast! All they did was run up stairs and slide down things for hours. I overheard another kid say "I am exhausted" and my kids were the same. We stretched out the 5 level play place and the inflatable slides/houses for 3 hours before they just couldn't play anymore. Obviously they said they could and cried not wanting to leave because it was so much fun.
Adults were free which is awesome, they could charge us to watch or hardly participate like others do. I still climbed the playplace and went down the inflatable slide a few times. Nostalgic and fun for us too.

I use to take my kiddos 1-2 times weekly but once my daughter hit 1 and it was $8 for her also I stopped. She don’t even do much but run around they should have 2 and under a few bucks cheaper and 1 and under free I think if another sibling is attending.

This place was awesome and reminded me of similar places I enjoyed as a kid. My girls 3yo and 6yo could’ve stayed all day. We went in August when it was extremely hot outside and Castaway’s offered a nice cool place to burn off some of their energy. They especially like the bounce house area.

Took my grandchildren here(2 &8 yrs old) they played hard for hours. My 2 yr old grand daughter was able to do EVERYTHING her 8 yr old brother did. Very well worth it and I am so excited to say after all the climbing and running around in white socks they both had white socks after almost 3 hrs. Very clean play scapes and bounce houses

The wife and I love bringing the kiddos here to play. It's closed in quite nicely so you don't have to worry about one of the Littles venturing off into the busy road. The staff are always polite and the establishment is always kept tidy and clean. I've been inside the play area and it doesn't smell or have mold like some places have had in the past. This is a safe and fun place to bring kids of all ages. Even my older kids (17 and 15) like to come play with their little siblings. I'd highly recommend for any parents that need a break, come let the kids burn off a couple hours of energy.

First time going to Castaway with 2 6 year olds and a 3 year old. Drove 45 mins to come and we would be coming more. Prices to jump and all the games is great. So much do for all ages and comfy chairs for the parents. 2 things I noticed was how clean everything was and the cost for prizes was great. The workers was super nice and makes you feel welcome too. Highly recommend check this out

Not a good place for special needs children at all! My autistic son went in, started screaming straight away, and ran right back out! It literally was all of 2 minutes since paying, and the staff wouldn't give me a refund on his pass. That is absolutely unethical! I haven't returned since, even though my other 3 kids wanted to go back. I just can't give money to a place like that. It's not like I asked for a refund all 4 of my kids, just the one that wasn't able to handle being there due to sensory issues. I was astounded that they wouldn't refund his pass. I would understand if he played there for a bit and then had a sensory issue, but it was literally right after paying to go in. I won't go back now. I'm not giving my money to unethical people like that.

I absolutely love this place! There's something for all ages and even an arcade area. There are so many options and not too bad on prices to unlock it all. My oldest loved the ninja thing they put in their cause he was able to rock climb for the first time. I will most definitely be back, and hopefully soon!!

Shopping-mall chain featuring a variety of brand-name & designer outlet stores.
Totally found this by mistake. I went on a super cold day. Which ended up being perfect. I was pretty much the only person in every store. The only store I was unimpressed with was Nike, cashier had an attitude and they have a security guy at the door that wears sunglasses in the store? I mean I don't get why you need security? Especially one that thinks he is Joe cool 😎

While this center does have many options, there are quite a lot of empty lots. I feel like this place has potential, but it just needs to have better outlet shops. On a positive note, I will say that the buildings and parking lot is kept in great condition and the atmosphere here is very welcoming. It’s not the worst shopping center ever, it just needs a little more.

We shop here a few times a year. You must know what you're looking for and know your price to find a deal. Make sure to stop at the Tanger Service Center first to get a coupon book - your stores may honor them.
The Service Center has nice restrooms and vending machines. Restaurants are off site.
Good luck - have fun!

This place is so big with a lot of shopping outlets and a lot of offers with cosmetics, clothes, bags and women's wear. There are a lot of options and specifically a croissant sandwich place which is too good. The middle of nowhere. I wish there were more options inside the outlets but the one that is present is a quality place.

Great value and sales depend on the store. Just be cautious and alway check what time the mall closes. Ever store runs on that time and not the store time listed online. For example; Stetches store online says they are open till 9pm but they are not. They are open till 7pm with the mall itself.

Been going here for over 18 years now. I worked at multiple stores a long time ago there's a lot of great stores here. Especially bath n body works. Hot topic the kitchen store pac sun, there's a coach discount store here. Over 5o stores here. They also have sketcher's, Nike, famous footwear, I don't like shopping with large crowds and luckily I'm only 5 minutes drive from here so I go at 10 am when they open. Definitely check it out they also have coupon books gift cards and great deals

Good access to the Freeway 96. Many popular bland shops. Recently Adidas outlet store is back outlet mall again. It is nice place to shop and find a good deal here, but not many eating places inside the mall. Wish this mall has a food court even smaller size.

It's my first time visit to Tanger outlets. It's built in a very huge area, there are many different factors outlet stores here that includes GUESS, GAP, CALVIN KLEIN etc. Prices are reasonable and there are plenty of varieties of inventory available. Best during summer. People typically spend about 2 to 3 hours here. The main advantage of the outlets is the price, inventory and you find lot of competitors for each product. This is little far from the place I live. Rest everything is fine.
Several fishing lakes plus biking & hiking trails galore adorn this 11,000-acre park with camping.
Love hiking around the all the lakes and ponds the Poto Trail has to offer. Could spend several hours a day, every day, no matter the weather in the woods! Did happen to see a rattle snake today, April 19, 2023, a first for us and it was QUITE aggressive despite its size (12 in. or so). Actually lunged at and hit my ankle (hiking boots, all is good).

Peaceful, no crowds this time of year. And no bugs! This trail is well maintained. Adequate signs. Hills are steeper than I imagined. Overall good experience.

The trails are great but it's busier than downtown Detroit. A footrace event during my visit put dozens of runners on the trails on top of the normal busy traffic and it was way too crowded for my taste. I can't wait until the pandemic is over and people go back to avoiding nature.

Visited family at Bruin Lake campground, overflow parking is tight on weekends but still able to find a spot may just have to walk a ways depending on location.
Access to the lake is very clean and well maintained. The restrooms, even on holiday weekend were monitored and kept clean as well.
Most people on the lake had great boat etiquette and I can't wait to go back!
Jessica Chapdelaine — Google review
The campground is in need of updates. There are only 2 bathhouses for basically 3 large sections of campers. One of the 2 bathhouses is very old. There are a lot of muddy sandy campsites so the overall appearance and feel of the place is dirty. The path to the oldest bathroom completely floods with the smallest amount of rain. I don't understand why the manager of this state Park doesn't fill that path with gravel. I camp about 120 days a year. I have been to a lot of different state parks. I won't be back here.
The positive about this state Park is the lake.
Bruin Lake is very nice and connects to other lakes. It is fun to kayak through the various lakes connected to Bruin Lake. There is a sandbar in Bruin Lake where a lot of boaters hang out in the water. There is also a big fishing pier at the campground and places for campers to pull their boat to the shore so they don't need to keep putting them off and on their trailers.
Lauda Sisung — Google review
This place is okay. Kind of too mellow for my tastes though.
While I've never camped at this place, I have visited the beach quite a few times. There is a lot of grass leading up to the beach and not that much sand before entering the water.
Keep in mind that there are snakes in the area. I've seen them swimming on one occasion.
There are a lot of families with young children that seem to go to this beach, which is fine of course, but that may not be the vibe you are looking for when visiting a beach.
There is a small building that has concession food, like fries and hot dogs and other things of such.
Driving out to this place is always quite nice. Dexter and the surrounding farm areas are just so beautiful and serene.
Overall, the area is very nice. The beach itself though is underwhelming.

Pinckney State Recreation Area comprises several connected, but scattered parcels of land that surround private lands and land owned by the State of Michigan. The village of Pinckney is the largest settlement in the area, lying just to the east of the northeast corner of the park. Hell lies within the park and is the center of recreation at Pinckney State Recreation Area.
Hell grew up around a sawmill, gristmill, distillery and tavern. All three were operated by George Reeves. Reeves moved to the area in the 1830s from the Catskill Mountains in New York. He purchased a sawmill on what is now known as Hell Creek in 1841. Reeves' family sold the land to a group of investors from Detroit in 1924.
The investors increased the size of the millpond by raising the level of the dam creating what is now Hiland Lake. The area soon became a summer resort area attracting visitors for swimming and fishing. Henry Ford considered building some manufacturing facilities in the area but decided against it. Just west of the present Pinckney park, the federal government had developed the Waterloo recreational demonstration project in the 1930s and the state acquired the lease of that area in 1943.
The next year, the Michigan Legislature appropriated monies for the purchasing of land in southeastern Michigan and for the construction of state parks. The park grew through the 1940s and 1950s with money from a number of sources.
Pinckney State Recreation Area is home to several campgrounds and many miles of hiking trails. Bruin Lake Modern Campground has 186 modern campsites. Electric service for recreational vehicles is provided along with modern restrooms. Other facilities at the campground include a boat launch, fishing and swimming areas and a playground. Blind Lake Rustic Campground has ten rustic campsites with vault toilets. This campground is a hike-in camping area. Crooked Lake Campground is also a rustic campsite with 12 camping areas. Additionally, one yurt and one cabin are available to rent at the park.
Silver Lake is a center of park activities with swimming beach on the lake as well as access to a number of trails including the 17-mile (27 km) Potawatomi mountain bike trail. The 35-mile (56 km) Waterloo-Pinckney Hiking Trail runs through the two parks (passing through Park Lyndon County Park between them). The park is also open to hunting, fishing, wildlife viewing, picnicking and boating.

The Glenbrook Yurt was my most recent attempt at staying at the Bruin Lake campground. I was less than impressed, unfortunately the yurt being off site from the main campground, it is closer to the hiking trail system. Being that close, hikers and boaters are constantly showing up and interrupting anything you are doing. The Yurt itself is nice and it would be an awesome camp site if it was truly more private. I would expect people had I reserved one of the Yurts at the actual campground location. The Yurt does have solar lighting and a fan. Use them conservatively as the batteries don't last long when both are in use. No outlets are available for phone charging, brick a external battery pack or solar charger. There is no running water and there is a vault toilet. There is a picnic table near the fire pit, along with a camp grill and some outdoor chairs. The Yurt is surrounded by a nice deck that offers some very nice views. You will also have access to the Hiland lake canal to the chain of lakes. The reason I rated it so low was the rude people that constantly interrupted our activities by hiking off trail and showing up at the site or just coming ashore to take a break.
Bob Lechtanski — Google review
I rented a yurt here, which was a little way down the road from this location on it's own private gated drive into the woods. It's very private, except for a walking trail that goes through the property, but we only saw a few people using it, and the little creek down the hill from the yurt. It's insanely beautiful, quiet, and peaceful. For anyone who loves the great outdoors, and doesn't mind not showering and using an outhouse, I highly recommend this place. There is a pump for water, so really you have all you need!

Was overall a nice campground. We stayed in Site F, which is the further Hike-In site. It was about a 1 mile walk and was fairly secluded. The site was clean, included a picnic table, fire put and posts to hang two hammocks.
We bought wood from the campground office and after caring it about half way, a ranger did help haul it the rest of the way in their mule.

What a beautiful campgrounds. Very clean, each site is huge and secluded. The park Rangers come by daily picking up trash checking on people. They have stoned paths all thru the park. There are a lot of walking and biking trails. If you are into disc golf they have an 18 hole course. The beach is beautiful and clean. They have a separate beach for dogs. You can also rent canoes and kayaks for the entire day. Highly recommend this state park. They do not have full-site hook ups. But have the usual dump stations and water fill ups. Make sure if you have a larger rigg you check the site measurements, some of the sites were not fit for larger Riggs.

The park rangers are amazing and friendly and constantly walk around. The beach was clean, had plenty of trees for shade, and bbq grills if you needed one. There are 2 pavilion areas that you can rent. The camp hosts were awesome and had activities during the weekend for the kids. Restrooms and showers at the campground were clean. The beach restrooms were disgusting, but I'm sure that happens when its a busy day, and they do get clean daily. The playground was very nice. They also had a basketball court and a Ga Ga ball pit. We will definitely be coming back!

My first visit in several years. Went today to explore the hiking trails. Sleepy Hollow is a hidden gem. Nice easy drive through the country to get there. It has camping, fishing, lite boating, hunting, horse riding, etc, etc. The colors in the fall are amazing. It's a wonderland in the winter. The main trails are for only hikers, bicyclists and horse riders. Dogs on leash. If you stick to the trails you'll wander through thick forests, go past wild meadows and stroll around open water ponds and alluvial ponds. Great place to bird watch. The parking area is in great shape. Bathrooms, a gazebo and those little bbqs are available. State Park passport required but if you don't have one go talk to a ranger. If there are no rangers, we'll, go on in and enjoy the park!

Nice park with green and wooded areas. Most sites have cement pads for campers. Dog friendly, walking trails, Lake Ovid with beach and fishing piers. They also have canoe, kayak, and paddle board rentals. Staff is very nice and helpful. They even helped wrangle my dog who got loose. Many of the sites seemed kind of small, especially if you have a camper and a tent or a screen tent. There is a central bathroom in each section, bathroom and showers are older but clean and functional.

I wasn't sure what to expect because I grew up camping in State Parks. I remembered hole in the ground type bathrooms as a child. Sleepy Hollow did not disappoint! Our site was roomy, made private with trees/brush between and had an awesome fire pit. Each site has a paved driveway for your rig. The camp ground was full yet quiet with beautiful trails and clean restrooms with individual rooms for showers. We loved it and we'll be returning!!

Beautiful hiking trails, horse trails and bike trails throughout the park and around a quiet lake that are well marked. The beach is popular during the summer for swimming. There are little islands in the lake you can canoe or kayak to and one island has a foot bridge and a hiking trail. There are tent camp sites as well as two rustic cabins that can be reserved for overnight stays.
Waterloo State Recreation Area boasts a variety of outdoor activities. Visitors can enjoy camping at one of the many sites available, as well as beaches and picnic areas. The park also offers fishing opportunities in its lakes, and 47 miles of multi-use trails for hiking or biking. Facilities such as bathrooms and shower facilities are clean and well-maintained.
This place, the Portage Lake Campground was an awesome camp spot. Water was available at the bathhouse and I had a 50 amp back-in site with electricity. There is a beach, plenty to do and many campsites to camp in.

We recently camped at site #144, the lot was nice and level. Shady after the morning and dry (we haven’t had a ton of rain lately so I do not know how it would be if it were rainy) bathrooms were clean, shower facility’s were nice. Only one dump station was open so leaving took a little longer that normal but nothing too bad. Kids enjoyed the Sandy swimming area, Gaga pit, playground and fishing at the boat launch. We did not participate in any of the available activities for the weekend but there were some kid activities offered at the host site and in the surrounding areas.

I did a 13 mile hike with 9 friends. This was my first time on this end of the Waterloo-Pinckney Trail.
There are a variety of trails. On this day, we followed mostly the equine trails, which were in pretty good condition. We lucked out in that the weather was great (30°F with a light snow and no wind). There were very few people and horses on the trail, so we pretty much had them to ourselves.

The Recreation Area is undeniably beautiful. However, I'm giving 3 stars for the simple reason that there are little to no signs on the grounds and the signs that are there are very poorly placed. I drove up from Lansing to spend the day in one of the cabins with my family. The adress emailed took me to the Discovery Center. I drove around in circles for around a half an hour trying to find the cabins. I was able to get a map and directions from a nice young lady in the Discovery Center, but unfortunately she gave me incorrect directions. Finally, my father, who had arrived before me, called me and assisted me with directions. However, he also had a hard time finding the cabin at first. Michigan DNR would be wise to invest in better signage.

We camped for 2 nights at the Mill Lake Rustic cabins inside Waterloo State Recreation Area. The area was really natural, lots of trees, dirt roads. You definitely need to make sure that you are prepared. There was a water pump within walking distance of the cabin. There was a vault toilet, which I found was not cleaned, lots of flies and spiderwebs everywhere. I sprayed for bugs, lysol wiped, and swept in there myself to make sure that it was clean enough for my family. The cabin was clean, had lots if screened windows, and the beds were actually pretty comfortable. We brought an air mattress that we ended up not even using. There are lots of electric heaters built in and we stayed warm at night. Plenty of outlets conveniently placed. We brought a mini fridge and were able to power up all our phones (which we did have good service on there), and electronic cookers. The cabin was well lit, with plenty of room to accommodate our family of 6. Mill lake was accessible on foot via a short trail walk. The cabins didn't have a view of the lake though. The Discovery center was a short drive away and the kids loved it. There were no showers at the Mill Lake cabins, you can go to the Sugarloaf campground to shower at a cost of $5 per person. There were lots of trails to walk. If you have a boat there is a boat access for Mill lake. We let the kids fish from the shore. They enjoyed watching the little minnows and butterflies around the marshy shoreline.
I think if we camp at Waterloo again I would like to be near modern bathrooms and a shower, because we have 4 kids. Ii did like the natural wooded area that were at though. It didn't feel like we were too close to lots of other people, or like it was a parking lot. The local DNR was friendly and helpful, and didn't bother us. It was a good experience overall; we will be camping at Waterloo again next year in a different camping area.

We visited the South Fork rustic cabin on a chilly weekend in March. It was lovely and secluded. The wood stove is wonderful and it was very warm during the day but we had to get up multiple times and refill it during the night to stay warm. There was an amazing amount of bird species in the area , and we heard coyotes the first night. Many hiking trails close to the cabin. Quite roomy inside, with a picnic table that was excellent for family games. Be sure to grab a trail map before you come, as there was none in the cabin. Likewise matches for the wood stove, we were lucky that we had some in the car as we've had forgotten to bring any with us. There was ample wood for the wood stove although if you want an outside fire you need to bring your own wood. Lovely time had by all.

Great park. Headquarters was super friendly and helpful. Really great place for small loop hikes. I would personally park and start at the discovery center. Nothing more than 5 miles unless you continue on the Waterloo-Pinckney Trail. Very nice trail by the way.

A wonderful spot! The one downside is there is only one straight/long hiking path where we went by the boat launch so we just walked out and back. But it was a well kept path and it was nice to have mole markers. I would definitely recommend it and we look forward to returning.
Michigan State University is a prominent research institution located on a large riverfront campus. The university boasts strong programs in medicine, business, and education. Visitors to the area can admire the impressive rotunda inside the capitol building, explore MSU's nearby campus in East Lansing, and grab a meal at the unique Golden Harvest Restaurant. Outdoor enthusiasts will appreciate the well-maintained grounds and ample space for walking or running while taking in nature.
It’s a fun place with a lot unusual things. For instance, I didn’t know I needed an Erlenmeyer flask or beaker until I saw them.

Michigan State University has a beautiful campus. The campus really shines in the summer and fall. The red brick buildings are iconic. Close to a commercial hub with shops and restaurants. The red Cedar River is a gorgeous river that runs through MSU campus. Spartan Stadium is imposing. Many statues and sculptures scattered throughout campus. Parking is a nightmare though.

Definitely the best venue! Wonderful 40th Anniversary concert with Jessica Vosk of the Broadway Hit Wicked! If you haven’t seen a show at Wharton, you’ve got to experience it. Great acoustics. Friendly staff and volunteers. And performances that will leave you awestruck. They also have a great gift shop that will have you rolling! There is even a piano in the passage from the parking ramp to the center that you can feel free to play! Definitely one classy place!

Not much to say. Looks like any other university in the country. I give a plus star cause I like their colors.
But way too many colored haired weirdos, with Palestinian flags and Black Lives Matter signs. Hideous. Deplorable. Ingrates.
Potter Park Zoo houses 500 animals from four different continents, including endangered species. The zoo's on-site eatery and snack bar provide food options for visitors. The zoo provides an intimate experience with the animals and offers them the choice to be seen by the public or to take some alone time. The establishment takes excellent care of all its animals, as they have sweet stories about how they were brought in, some being rehabilitated while others are endangered.
It's a beautiful zoo to see animals with little add-ons. A "quiet area", play and pretend for young children.
There are a lot of signs with information about the individual animals (which is a cool way to get your child to read instead of you reading it to them😉)
The staff is very kind and helpful, the zoo has a park in front of it that is nicely set with trees so that you won't have to sit in the burning sun.
The prices are pretty reasonable considering they are used to manage the zoo and everything it entails.
Currently the Zoo is undergoing construction to make the walk ways better, so while we did not get to see all of the animals on our visit we did receive tickets for free entry for our next visit. (Which is pretty awesome and kind)

The biggest animals are the Rhino and Camels. The pony rides were closed when we went. I loved watching the silver eyed wolf pacing about. The Rhino was quite active but all the big cats were being lazy at mid-day.
I recommend mosquito spray! Not as many kid play areas as other zoos in the state, our kids commented on this as we left.
Overall it's a fun way to spend an hour or 2 in the morning to see more activity. A nice excuse to get some exercise!

Winter rates are low and the crowds are less, so I definitely recommend going during off season if you want a more intimate experience. The animals mostly walked right up to where we were observing from which was really amazing! I’ve loved visiting this zoo since I was a very young child, but I’ve realized more recently that some of the enclosures seem…. Small. Don’t get me wrong, most seem to be a nice size, but it’s difficult to process a tiger or lion living in the space they’re given when they naturally roam much bigger areas. Otherwise I think the animals seemed well cared for and I saw many employees working hard to take care of them!

Love this little Zoo! So many great exhibits, clean, some exhibits under construction but to be expected at this time of the year, still plenty to see, has snack shop, easy viewing of animals, low entry fee, had a wonderful time❤️

We LOVE Potter Park Zoo! I went there as a kid for field trips and now bring my kids there. It is plenty big to see a wide variety of animals but small enough that my 3 year old will walk it with no complaints. They have both endangered species as well as local animals such as elk and Bald Eagles.

We had an AMAZING experience. My daughter is in kindergarten, and this was her first field trip. There were 3 other schools there at the same time, but I never once felt crowded or waited in any lines. They have food in the park, a gift shop that's affordable, a tornado machine ($3), and a photo booth ($7 for 4 slips). There was plenty of parking and a huge park attached to the zoo for the kids to burn off more steam. Plenty of shaded benched areas for eating and relaxation. There are plenty of benches throughout the park. The animals are beautiful, though their enclosures are small. I'm sure they're happy and taken care of. $15 adult entry, $5 parking. As for a wristband, if you plan on going out and coming back in.

Awesome local zoo. Now is a great time to visit: not only the zoo has many cute animals, camel rides ($7/person), goat hair brushing... but also lots of interesting and beautiful flowers blooming all over the zoo! A great outdoor experience! Looking forward to be able to do pony rides again.

Super relaxing zoo. All the animals are amazing. The lion had a lot to say as did the bald eagle and most birds. And we were joined by 2 peacocks. Was very enjoyable. Would be back if I lived here. But when I come back to MI I’ll swing by when it’s a bit warmer. Also the cows and goats were having some words lol. Was funny and a good time.

The best zoo I have ever been to ! I have never been to a zoo where you could get so up-close to the animals. You could also tell that all the animals here were well taken care of and shown lots of love. The animals here all had sweet little stories of how/why they were brought in. Some were there to be rehabilitated, and others were there because they're endangered. It was so amazing how the animals were given the option of being out in the open to be seen by everyone & then to also be able to have their alone time. My favorite highlights were the bats & the owls!! I will definitely come back for the butterflies though, because it was closed when I went.

I visited in March - Good: price was low and there were only about a dozen people there. Not as good: a third of the animals were off exhibit. Yet is an great zoo for a city of Lansing's size. I explored the whole thing and it took 2 hours. Animals range from big (rhinos, camels, lion, tiger, cows) to small (snakes, lemurs, penguins). They have a petting area, pony rides, a nature play area, and camel rides. Nearly all is shaded, so in the summer should be good. Nearly all the animals are outside; there are 2 small building for monkeys and reptiles.

Nice zoo, clean, and easy to walk around.
There are currently no wolves; it seems they were transferred to another zoo to keep a sibling company after they lost their companion. Nice zoo keeper talks and fun reptile house. There is a decent playground outside of the park and plenty of bathrooms with changing tables.

I went for one of the 21+ evening Zoo Nights and it was great! Definitely eat beforehand because there isn't a ton of food available but there were lots of drink options and a really fun scavenger hunt information sheet to fill out and get more drink tickets. It made it an adventure and I really enjoyed it, probably more than I have previous years. There was also a baby lemur which was adorable.

As a kid I grew up loving this place and I still do, it's a treat to get to know all the animals and their names, and the employees are the kindest people and take phenomenal care of the animals. They also go all out on decorations for the different seasons, Halloween had so many big spiders and cobwebs and getting closer to the holidays it's lit up with a bunch of beautiful x-mas trees. (If you play pokemon go this is a great place to play it as well)

Potter Park Zoo is a great local attraction and an easy way too spend quality time with the family. Like many things these days the zoo can get expensive quick. Eat before you get there. My personal favorite attraction are the big cats. Not sure how accurate my assessment is but every time I go when it is a bit chilly the tiger is always enjoying laps around the enclosure. You are a couple feet from him when he passes. It always hits home for me how majestic, life can be when I see him. The zoo could do better with PR letting customers know when there is construction that closes a major piece of the zoo. But besides that if your In The area it’s worth the trip.

Went to an event this month in the evening and it was so much fun. We got to really experience boo at the zoo. The animals were so social we've never had a chance to be that close to the big cats and we've been here so many times. It was really cool! These were taken with like the worst camera too so excuse the quality 😒 anyhow again, as always, it was fun, the staff are always so helpful too at these events and I know we're there after hours so I don't even know if they get paid but everyone is always so kind. I've got a really bad back so people can often see I'm struggling to walk and the zoo staff have been helpful more than once regarding my back. I only wish the scooters cost less or there were a way to get like a waiver I don't know just an idea.

Really nice zoo with a lot of beautiful old architecture that you normally don't see at a zoo. Lots of happy animals and really nice exhibits. It's definitely a smaller zoo as far as zoos go, but bigger than the Saginaw Zoo we normally visit. It's also got lots of room to expand and fill out.
The Michigan State Capitol is a National Historic Landmark with a prominent cast-iron dome roof. Visitors can take tours to learn about the state's history and government. The capital building was once located in Detroit during the War of 1812, when Michigan was on the border with an enemy. It provides an opportunity to gain knowledge about the state's past and present as visitors move around the building.
This was my first self guided tour of the capital and it was amazing. The first steps into the building and I was taking pictures. Everything that you see is worthy of a photograph. The dome is something that everyone needs to lay down and enjoy. In fact plan ahead and wear a coat so you feel free to lay down. Make sure that your adventures take you through the gallery looking down at all the history. Even the tile floor and door hinges are pieces of art. Plan on spending at least an hour walking around at a steady pace to see everything. On my second trip I will spend more time looking at the paintings of all the former governor's. I was so overwhelmed by the beauty of building that they artwork was secondary. Just touching the handrails and imagining all the past history is awe-inspiring. If you are new to the area or have lived here your whole life spend some time on yourself and enjoy our state capital.

After visiting Wisconsin's capital building, as well as Ohio's, decided I needed to drive up and check out Michigan. The building is very impressive. I just took a self guided tour as I didn't have aot of time to work with. The gave me a nice booklet that explained everything. It took me about 45 minutes to stroll the building. Such magnificent architecture. Surprised the place wasn't more busy with people walking around considering it was a Wednesday at 3:00pm.

It was an amazing experience to be at the capital for Citizen Lobby day. The inside of the building is beautiful, full of hand carved details and ornate decorations. There is so much to look at from the floor to the ceilings. Even the bathrooms are gorgeous and all different with their own character. The house floor is the place to be, the views are breathtaking. Lost of history under this roof and would make a great location for field trips.

During a visit to Lansing, the state capital of Michigan, we saw several families with kids walking around the capital building on a sunny Saturday afternoon. Four beautiful churches stand within a block of each other. The cathedral was open and visitors could just walk in, offer a prayer. One has to be careful to stay on the main stretch of-course and be mindful of crime as in all parts of the US. Remember, Michigan is an open carry state when it comes to guns. Gave lower rating because of safety concern.

I love this Capitol's style. Dome isn't as big as some other State Capitols but it is striking, a slender exclamation point to a beautiful building. Surrounded by well-kept grounds with statues and historical points of interest. We were unable to visit the interior but had time to observe a sunset then repeat the next morning in the rain, watching a calm protest. Nice to see free speech in action.
I recommend if you are in Lansing.

The Michigan History Center is a venue that offers various exhibits, artifacts, and educational programs that showcase the state's rich history. It consists of five levels and provides both permanent and special interactive displays. Although there are some interactive activities for children, visitors may expect more. Nonetheless, the center offers an excellent opportunity to learn about Michigan's history and is recommended for all ages between 5-99 years old. Sundays are particularly favorable as admission is free.

We spent two hours there and probably could have spent another two because there is so much to see. Highly recommend visiting if you have an interest in history or Michigan in general. So many things to learn about with our state's history! I remember coming here in fourth grade with my class and I'm so glad I got to share this with my kids. We went on a Saturday morning just after they opened and there was nobody else there! We had the whole museum to ourselves! I like that you can walk through the decades and see what it was like to live in our state in each decade. There is alot of interesting information and there are even things that kids can touch and interact with. There is a large tree in the center of the building and on the opposite side of the museum is the state library. We got to check that out for a little bit. There is a small kids section in the back. This library is good for looking up records.

Did you know that in Michigan the Polio Vaccine had trials leaded by Jonás Salk? Or that Jiffy the famous mixture of pancakes and baking good was founded in Michigan? Well… all of these and more you’ll learn in this History Center museum which is shared with the Michigan Library.
I was gladly impressed during my visit. This museum is organized in a way you enjoy and understand the journey. It is 3 storey and each one is pretty ample. My favourites areas were the “Mining in Michigan”, “The Prototyping Parlour and the recently added “Hazel’s creation” right at the entrance.
Sundays are free and parking is plenty and free as well.
To go over the whole 3 floors and if you go at slow pace as myself :) allocate at minimum 2 hours. You can go with seniors as there is plenty of seatings and also with children.

Self-guided exhibits about local prison history in a former cell block on active prison grounds.
Steve is an excellent tour guide with numerous true stories to share. You will tour two prisons (the first 2 large complexes built after the original wood bldg in the early 1800s) & must drive to the 2nd one so plan on half a day - am or pm. $40 pp with no discounts. You can only take photos at the first prison. Both prisons are worth seeing. Much history. There is time to shop at their small gift store & use restroom between tours. If you buy postcards like me (who collects & mails many) look at them on the back before purchase. I bought 10 and half had numbers written all over the back so I couldn't write on them & mail. They're $2 each, which is pricey for a postcard too.

Used a Groupon to get a great price. $22 for 4 of us. The 8 and 9 year old were spooked on entry because you can see actual prisoners walking the yard across the street and I myself was unsure if the other connected cell blocks had prisoners. The kids fearfully entered. All 3 kids enjoyed it , the other kid is 12, as did I. It is self guided with scavenger hunts for different age groups including adults. You can make it a 30 minute tour or a 1.5 hr tour depending on how much you want to read. The cells and prison hall appear to be as they were 10 yrs ago when this block closed. We spent 1.5 hrs and then enjoyed Culvers

It cost us 19 bucks for admission (3 adults and one senior) and the snacks were an okay price. but the Cascades are what you would expect it to be. Water falling with lights. The staff was friendly and the light show at 9:30 was cool. The only thing I could complain about is around 8 all these random people in workout gear started to gather around and then proceeded to do an hour long Zumba class while blasting pitbull. Other than that it was fun.

Update – June 2022. The music continues to be great and it's a wonderful setting. However, it is evident that some repairs will be needed on parts of the falls. In addition, the lighting on some of the steps is not bright. One must exercise some caution when walking up or down the many steps.

Probably the only thing to do in Jackson thats not terribly boring. More of a family thing but also fun to just go and hangout and watch the light show. Its pretty cheap, I believe its 5$ and on their firework night it is 7$. Their firework show is always great!! They do have a concession stand inside but on firework night there are always food trucks. The staff is very friendly and helpful with any questions you have. They did just add in a splash pad so if you have kids they will love it.

The Bohm is a beautifully renovated theater that we hope to visit more often! Our movie was in the Screening Room that seats 30 or so, with very comfortable seating and front-row recliners.

Beautiful little old fashioned theater. Perfect to take the kids to. You need a rocky horror shadowcast though 😉

My son went to. Jam session here and had a great time. Getting up on stage for the first time, he had no idea what to expect. He was able to jam on his harmonica. I think it was very therapeutic for him. He enjoyed being there.

I went as a child and now bring my children. The building is delightful, but sometimes the movie crowd seems to be more unsupervised adolescents than I prefer to deal with. Fresh popcorn, candy and fountain pop, and nice attendants. I haven't used the bathroom there so I won't comment on it. Parking is decent.

This is a fantastic old theater. They have a modern sound system and it has a great feel once you step in the door..

My wife and I were delighted to experience the grandeur of the Bohm Theater this Winter. The Make Belief Spurs brought a Bob Dylan tribute to this beautifully restored forum. The sound was outstanding and the restoration has been perfectly executed. It was so comfortable all around. If you're ever near Albion this valuable legacy gem of a theater is worth a stop. I am grateful.

We went to see mission impossible after a pizza at cascarellis, and were happy with the price of the movie, and the popcorn! The theater is beautiful and clean and the perfect temperature!
Great place with a lot of bargains, especially upstairs. If you can find something you need, you're not looking hard enough. A lot of the booths have 20, 30, 50, and even 95% off.
The upstairs is accessible via stairs or an elevator and worth checking out.
Be prepared to spend a few hours there as there a lot of nooks and crannies to explore.

Well, at one time, this area was hopping. Today.not so much. I guess I had my hopes set to high . Being the antique capital of michigan, I was I little disappointed. Don't get me wrong, there was plenty to choose from in about 5 different buildings, but it seemed like each building had the same exact stuff but placed in different places. There was a little restaurant with a VERY LIMITED MENU. but they had the best damn cheeseburger and fries I've had in a very long time. All in all, it was a decent half day. Very friendly people

This place was amazing! My wife and I took our son here to show him things that our family had when we were his age and we found so many things. If you ever want a hit of nostalgia, I would definitely recommend coming here!

A good sized place. Two stories. The bathroom and elevator were conveniently located right inside the front door. The downside to this place is the service was not friendly.

Nice selection, good prices. The lady working the counter was awful though, anything you said or asked just made her attitude worse.
