I had an amazing experience with Maine Kayak. The guide was incredibly knowledgeable about the area's history, geology, and wildlife, which made the kayaking trip even more fascinating. I learned a lot about Maine's coast and enjoyed the breathtaking scenery while spotting various animals like Bald Eagles, porpoise, ducks, osprey, and more. The guide planned the trip according to tides and we were lucky to have easy paddling conditions due to favorable weather.
Had a great paddle today. They directed us right where to go to see the seals. It was a great value.

Great place to rent kayaks in the Damariscotta / Muscongus / Pemaquid region. Al and Scott couldn't have been nicer and more helpful! Will most definitely rent from these guys when we return next.

This was my second two day Inn to inn trip with Maine Kayak and I can't say enough positive things about the entire experience. They run trips of all lengths and abilities and it is a must do if you like the water and want to see the Maine Coast and all it's splendor close up. They have excellent equipment and the Guides are top notch Maine Guides. with extensive knowledge of the history and wildlife in the Boothbay Harbor area. My friends and I are lifelong paddlers and we have been on multiple guided Kayak adventures in both Whitewater and Kayak and Canoe Touring for over three decades. . We all felt that Alvah Maloney, the owner of Maine Kayak who was our guide for this trip, was among the best we have had the pleasure of paddling with. We were in a more advanced paddling group and I would highly recommend either the two day or four day Inn to Inn or camping trips to any experienced paddlers who want to get into places on the central Maine Coast they would never find on their own. The entire area is Spectacular. I would also recommend the shorter trips for families or individuals or couples who would like even their first Kayak experience. You will not be disappointed, We are already planning at least a couple return trips next season.

This was our second 2 day camping trip with Maine Kayak. Hauns was our guide both times. We had an amazing time, learned so much and can't wait to come back again next summer. Maine Kayak was great to work with, they were helpful in finding accommodations near by the night before. They provided good instruction pre trip and provided all the equipment needed. Thank you Maine Kayak, see you again next summer.

Very friendly and accommodating kayak tour service. We took a 2 hr "wildlife" tour that started at 2PM. Our guide, Matt, could not have been more chill or easier to work with. He was very flexible with the start time, gave us a safe place to leave valuables, and helped us get set up with properly fitting splash jackets and life vests. He talked with us about our experience level (we had kids that had never been kayaking before), gave us some basic instruction on land, and led us on an easy, low-chop route around the bay at low tide. We were in 2-person tandem kayaks that seemed to be very high quality. We saw plenty of birds (no seals, unfortunately) but mainly it was just delightfully relaxing. The water was extremely calm, and often only 1-2 feet deep, so our kids were not nervous. Afterwards, Matt gave us some advice on other sights in the area such as Pemaquid Lighthouse.

We had two wonderful days kayaking with Maine Kayak. Our guide was extremely knowledgable about the history, geology, and wildlife of the area. So fascinating to learn more about Maine's coast! The scenery was spectacular, and we saw Bald Eagles, porpoise, ducks, osprey, and more. Alvah our guide planned the trip to work with the tides, and we lucked out with the weather so that paddling was very easy. The rests were timed perfectly as well. We are simply very happy with our decision to paddle this little section of the Maine coast with Maine Kayak.

Maine Kayak organized a wonderful parent-teen overnight trip for the 4 teens and 2 parents in our group. Perfect mix of activity and adventure as well as water and Covid-19 safe practices. Our guide Alva was respectful, informative, and worked hard to give everyone a great and empowering sea kayaking experience. Highly recommend.

We went on the overnight sea kayak trip at the end of July with Jeff and Noah as our guides. This trip was absolutely phenomenal and I would recommend it to anyone! Getting to see Maine that way was an amazing experience. Jeff and Noah were both very knowledgeable and made the trip even better. We got to see so much beautiful island coastline, several secluded beaches, watch the fog roll in over the pine trees, and even kayak amidst a group of harbor seals. Camping on Crow Island was a beautiful and serene experience, and Jeff and Noah made sure we were well taken care of at all times. The food was both plentiful and delicious. Overall it was just a great time full of beautiful sights and a great natural way to experience the spirit of Maine!

A truly perfect kayaking experience. Al was a great resource both for getting comfortable in the boats and explaining the history and ecology of the area as we kayaked. The Maine Kayak team also reached out when inclement weather forced a change in plans and worked with us to schedule on a better day.
Colonial Pemaquid is in the same park as Fort William Henry. Very cool history, Pemaquid was a colonial settlement before Plymouth, and the value export was salted cod! The Colonial part of the park is a museum with a video and many artifacts, the foundations of several buildings from the settlement, and a reconstruction of a fisherman’s (tiny) house from the era.
The fort is a reconstruction which is scheduled for repairs in 2023-2024. More cool artifacts and an awesome view.

Great place to buy some of the states best home grown weed. Look for the weird dude in oldy timey clothes and ask for prices on prerolls, dime bags or weight if u know what u want. Then go down to the beach and CAMFBO! Some Wicked good buzzon guaranteed!

This is a nice little park, the fort itself will surprise you inside as it’s built around a gigantic boulder. There are a number of things to see on the property and the view was great.

Fort William Henry is one of the oldest British forts in North America. Add to that the nearby archeological digs and one of the best regional restaurants (The Contented Sole)... Not to mention some spectacular views and nearby beaches and you'll want to make a day of it here. Or, perhaps a week or three.
Hugh Reilly — Google review
Saw the fort and a hand made house from the time period. The park rangers(?) Were extremely knowledgeable. And if the person who is in time period appropriate clothing, please talk to him, because he is amazing in knowledge and skill.

If you're in the Pemaquid Maine area, check out the Bristol Harbor Days. A nice folksy festival that features local artists-vendors, food and you get to go in and climb to the top of the fort-the view was spectacular. We bought local crafts from the area here, listened to great music and on Saturday night..fireworks.

Love the lighthouses of the east coast...this is one of my favorites. And the State Historic Site is a bonus with it’s ruins and old cemetery. I even found a Geocache there, quite unexpected. Nice place to visit, I would recommend going there

We stopped to get some strawberries today. They were all gone, and because of the current showers, they were not at that time picking. They do have a large selection of fresh vegetables, jams , jellies, live lobsters, cheese, bacon, and freshly made donuts. Also, fresh breads.
They also have a huge selection of hanging flower baskets. They are all beautiful. It was hard to choose the 2 that I really liked. There is also a great selection of plants for your flower and herb gardens.
We will definitely be going back.

Wow!!!! 95% of products sold here GROWN on site less than 2 miles from the market, even eggs ,cream, milk, canned fruits , and vegetables .
I have NEVER seen another market like this in the WORLD. How fresh and local can it get ???

I just love this place! The best strawberries ever! Also their Beths Ann’s Apple are so sweet and crisp! Love the Goats Milk soap. I tried the Balsam Fir for my fiancé and the Lavender for myself. Bought some whole bean Coastal Maine coffee and omg the aroma is amazing! The honey is locally made and perfect for my tea! Lots of produce grown right there on the farm to choose from. Definitely worth a visit.

Excellent Farm Market! I have been all over the United States and this is one of the best Farm Market/ Farm Stores I have ever seen! The produce is fresh and beautifully displayed. Fresh Eggs, Meats, Cheese, Lobster and Oyster along with Herbs and Flowers are available seasonally. The prices are reasonable and the customer service is amazing! We also had some fresh Maine Strawberry Shortcake and Maine Blueberry Crumble. Produce and products change seasonally and everything is always fresh! Awesome spot/ Must See!

I live in NY and went to Maine to celebrate my 5th year wedding anniversary as me and my husband was shopping we met a lady that told us about this place we went there and to be honest if I lived in Maine I would shop here very often . We never tasted Rhubarb but I has heard about it from watching a movie about a woman kidnapped by her neighbor and thats how the husband found her when she baked that for her kidnapper from then I looked all over NYC for it but without success so I brought the pie which is delicious and and the Rhubarb to try Making it I hope I can order it online from them . They have such wonderful products I even brought items as gifts . If I should be in Maine again I would definitely go back there plus nice friendly cashiers.
Located in Waldoboro, Morse's Sauerkraut is a renowned MidCoast establishment that offers a unique blend of deli and luncheonette experiences. The shop has upheld the tradition of Virgil Morse, who began crafting sauerkraut from scratch in 1918. In addition to their signature kraut, Morse's boasts an impressive selection of fresh sausages, tinned fish, craft beers, and cheeses.
This place rocks!!!! U can sample cheeses, meats and much more. I had one of the owners assisting me. She knows a lot about the products. She let me sample lots of meats and cheeses and most of it I bought. Spent almost $200 there. They are thinking of trying to make a Morse Hot Sauce.

Very deceptive little place on the outside but on the inside.... they have everything. Deli meats, cheeses, canned meats, specialty items galore. They let you sample cheeses before you purchase as well as the deli meats. This place is a.maz.ing! Recommend this place highly!

Very unique shop with many items from Germany as well as the deli section with meats, cheeses, kraft, and so much more. While studying the kraft cooler, I happened to notice some wrapped muffaletta sandwiches. Grabbed one to try. Its one of the best I have ever had! Plenty of meat and olive toppings. Enough for two to share! Also a nice selection of German beers!

This unassuming building holds the most incredible collection of European specialty items!! Predominantly German..but French and Italian are represented too! Jams, oils, candies and sodas, a cheese and meat counter (they are quick to let you try before you buy!) and if course- their famous made there sour kraut and pickles!!! You can spend hours there poking around! Lovely people working there too!!

I love the location of this little joint. It is literally located in the middle of nowhere. Located on Route 220. Ample parking. Not very busy here whenever I have stopped by to place a take out order. Their restaurant includes a shop of various products. Their menu items are very delicious. There are a few tables available for dining in. I love their mouthwatering Rueben sandwiches. Yum!!

Great selection of meats, cheeses, olives, and of course kraut (which is really really good!)! Everything we tried was great and the cheese monger was super helpful! If you can't find your favorite European stuff here, you probably can't get it in the US!

Morse’s Sauerkraut is located in the middle of farm country in Waldoboro, in an unassuming roadside building, but the moment you walk in, you have entered a gourmet import store and restaurant. Morse’s has been making their own sauerkraut and pickles for more than 100 years, and I’m not sure how long the shop has been open. They have a large and interesting variety of cheese, and they are enthusiastic about answering questions and providing samples. I always learn something when I stop in. In the sausage/deli cooler, they have German, Hungarian and Pork sausages, as well as imported hams, smoked pork, and other charcuterie.
The rest of the shop is devoted to imported products and ingredients, mostly German, and a huge selection of chocolates. We always stop by for our holiday candy for stockings and gifts.
Dean Emmerson — Google review
You have got to stop here. It is amazing. All the pickles and kraut are just the start. It is wonderful. Wish the restaurant was open. It sounds awesome. Can’t wait to come back. The deli has a tremendous variety of meats and cheese. Don’t forget about the great selection of candy.

Went here on a beautiful fall day. The drive into this remote restaurant was stunning. The German restaurant and store is kinda awesome. Lots of product that you don't normally see. Various pickle samples. We ended up choosing the half sours. So good. The restaurant was fun too. Small room only five tables so we had to wait but it was worth it. Had the bratwurst with Sauerkraut and a reuben both were great. Fun outing.

We learned about Morse's sauerkraut when we ate Ruben sandwiches at Moody's Diner in 2018.
Got to visit Morse's Sept 2021. What a delicatessen! Incredible selection of international products, and homemade pickled vegetables and cured meats.

Fantastic rail museum doing great work, with friendly and knowledgeable volunteers. Highly recommend getting a shop tour and taking a ride with their 2 foot narrow gauge steam locomotive!

We decided to visit on a whim, and I'm glad we did. This a beautiful little railway restored to an excellent condition by dedicated volunteers. The ride was beautiful, especially given the fall colors, and the accommodations were more than adequate. The facilities were open to our wandering around and the people were very friendly.

Really worth the trip! We went for the BBQ weekend event and had a great time. Our 5yo really had a blast, and we will be likely to return.
It is rather jostling, so be careful for those who might get motion sick. Also, there's a fair amount of coal smoke, so keep that in mind if you have breathing issues.
Roe R. Adams, IV — Google review
This place is a must stop for the railroad enthusiast of any stripe or even someone looking for a unique "date night" adventure. Save a hassle by getting tickets online and come dressed to be outside because this museum is literally the railyard with all the sheds, outbuildings, coal heaps, and junk piles associated with maintaining the railroad. No glass cases or docents here, this is a living history museum 30 minutes out of Augusta.
Jason Watson — Google review
The WW&F Railway was the entire reason we crossed 4 states to visit Maine and the experience was well worth the time! We booked two rides on the same day - one was the narrated historical trip. This gave us the opportunity to learn more about the railway, get off at a few stops and generally have a wonderful time! The second trip was to Alna Center to the last singer-songwriter concert of the year. This time we rode in the open cars (watch out for the cinders!) and had lovely views of the Fall foliage and even a deer crossing the track ahead of the train. The three women performing in the concert were incredible storytellers and musicians and I look forward to seeking out more of their music. We already plan to return and hope more track will be open then!

Flawless "Steam and Sleighs" experience! Thank you so much to everyone who made this such a great event. We just showed up and everything went without a hitch. Loved it!

Amazing place. A railfan's dream come true. I have to give Joe and the entire crew much credit. Very friendly and very knowledgeable of all the rolling stock and locomotives. But the icing on the cake is their 1929 Ford Model T rail vehicle. I'd recommend this railroad to anyone. Very very good job at their work and just an amazing place to be.

We had the best time at Singers in the Round, a summer concert series. The old train takes you to the concert venue, which is intimate and surrounded by nature. You get a few hours of great music and then you hop back on the train to return to the museum. It was a wonderful way to spend our Sunday afternoon, we'll be back!

Great experience on the Pumpkin Pickin' Train to SeaLyon Farm! Grandson loved the train ride, and horse drawn wagon ride. 🐎🎃🚞

Friendly people, a lot of fun for the kids. Nice little gift shop with used books (probably donated) some toy trains and hats for the kids, and other odds and ends.
Another building with some model trains running for kids to see.
The ride is not a long one but still fun for the kids. Train and traincar was beauty inside and out
We made a second trip in 2023, equal experience to the first with additional buildings constructed, including a big open air poll shed with local merchants featuring homemade food items (part of their Christmas ride to meet Santa)
Troy Ancona — Google review
The WW&F Railway is an amazing place where people can learn about Maine's unique network of two-foot narrow gauge railroads, some of which survived until the 1930s. By comparison, standard gauge railroads are 4 feet 8.5 inches between the rails.
There is an incredible group of volunteers who have rebuilt a portion of the line on the original right of way, are restoring original equipment, and even building a steam locomotive from the original plans. You can ride on original equipment behind restored steam locomotives and explore the grounds, including the car shops and roundhouse. Highly recommended!!!
John Galich — Google review
We enjoyed the short stream train ride through the forest. There's not much to see here, and they didn't spend any time during the trip talking about the history of the line.
The museum had some interesting artifacts, and there is an active machine shop manned by volunteers.
Everyone was wonderful, friendly and kind and helpful. It looks like this short line is maintained and used for things other than tourism. It would have been nice to have heard more about that too. This place definitely has potential.

If someone said to me “I’m coming to Maine for the first time…what should I do to truly feel like I’m in Maine?” I would tell them to go here and do the lavendar farm trip on the train. It’s amazing. The volunteers and passion to preserve a piece of history is impressive to say the least. Top it off with the train dropping us off at this amazing lavendar farm with goats and chickens for 90min and offering horse and buggy rides, pick your own lavendar, a food truck, adult beverages and lavendar lemonade? With a trip back to catch our train to the parking lot. I’ve never heard an authentic train whistle before! Magical. There’s plenty of bathrooms, a full gift shop in an old passenger car, and restored/in restoration cars! It’s worth a trip for sure.
David Jacobson was a fantastic teacher and his work is beautiful. We took a lesson from him and i cannot recommend it enough. The location of his studio is in the peaceful countryside of Maine. The breeze through his studio and all the fans makes it somewhat comfortable even in the summer, although it’s still a hot glass studio. I can imagine in winter it’s the best place to be!
David goes through all the steps to make a creation of your own. You get to pick your own colors and help blow the glass. He’s patient and ensures a stress-free experience. He provides water and a clean bathroom as well. We are excited to come back and try our hand at this again. Thank you David!

I attended a free glassblowing experience during Maine Craft Weekend, and it was fantastic! David's shop sits in a beautiful location, and his teaching style is easy to learn from. I had never done anything related to glassblowing ever, and my boyfriend and I each walked away with a lovely drinking glass that we made ourselves and still use to this day! His personal glassblowing collection is for sale and I also purchased a lovely glass pumpkin from his shop. Highly recommend stopping in for a glassblowing session, you will not be disappointed!
Carmella Abraham — Google review
DO go out of your way to have glass blowing lessons with David. He's fun, personal, and informative. We had a great time and look forward to another visit in the future. Youll need to be nearby 12+ hrs later later to pick up or hell deliver your final pieces after they do a slow controlled cool down in a oven. David also has an AirBNB to stay at making a trip there even easier. You can also just visit to see his studio and buy his gorgeous works of art.
I have learned much from Bea and Joe Bryant about vintage stoves, how they were made and why they were so better built. With that said i not only became a customer and friend,i became a collector who actually burns his antiques and have a great place to bring them back when repairs are required, great crew, they are on the cutting edge of obsolete technology!
Galo Hernandez — Google review
I visited here recently with my wife and 12-year-old daughter. Mr. and Mrs. Bryant were very welcoming and showed us many of the items in the museum, including the amazing moving doll exhibit, the one-of-a-kind musical instrument collection, and the collection of rare antique cars. I could have spent hours just checking out one small corner of this place. I recommend visiting here. You won't be disappointed. And everything in the museum is hands-on. And they have many beautiful stoves for sale that would grace anyone's home.

WOW! If you are looking for a run of the mill, dul boring place to visit. THIS IS NOT THAT. By far one of the most interesting places you will ever visit. Yes they do sell wood stoves. But this is really a car museum, and lots more.

Worth a stop even if you don't have a woodstove!

Defies description but plenty of old wood & gas stoves, both cookstoves and parlor stove, many restored, many others waiting their turns. Antique cars, music machines of many kinds--player pianos, nickelodeons, calliope, many others, most working, and every sort of animated toy imaginable. Quite the unexpected find in a friendly little Maine town.

We came here with our little kids and the guide was very kind and engaging with them - we all had a great visit! A really interesting spot with a lot of history and many original parts - oldest wooden fort in America. There are many interesting artifacts and hands on things to pick up and feel. The two guides we interacted with were both very knowledgeable and friendly. The gift shop had a nice selection at reasonable prices. Definitely worth a stop!

A must visit when you’re in Augusta! The staff here are dressed in 18th century clothing, that adds to the authenticity of this site. The office is also quite small and gives you the same vibes. To top it all, my tour guide Wendy started the tour with “let me take you back to the 18th century” and she really did! It took me quite a few moments after exiting, to come back to 2023. Thank you Wendy and team for the amazing tour, I am glad I made an impromptu stop here.

Great tour with Roger as our guide. Veteran friendly. You do have to walk upstairs to see certain parts of the tour. But great history and worth the stop.
Johnny K — Google review
Volunteered at my kids school to go on a field trip here. It was great! Everyone was so helpful with splitting the large group up into smaller groups and so that we could all get through each section of the tour in a timely manner but also allow everyone enough time and space to see demonstrations and such. When we had free time to go re-check the grounds out, there was ample staff (dressed for the time period might I add, which was a nice touch) there to answer any questions we had. Really a friendly neat place! So much stuff to see and the gift shop was fully stocked full of cool stuff too! I want to go back again and go for a walk on the trail along the river and the forts grounds and have a picnic maybe. Definitely worth a visit. Prices are very reasonable and well worth it. It's not every day you get to see how things were really done roughly 200 years ago.

When we turned up it was actually closed. However the lady tour manager was there and she said he'll come on in. She gave us and another couple a short but boy just a great small tour of the fort and its history.
We were so grateful and she just brought the place to life.
I would only guess what a tour would be when actually open and as then they dress up.
So 1000percent in a great time and many thanks to the tour guide lady at the fort.
It's definitely worth the visit for history and for the whole family.

Over all, I’d rate this historic stop a 4.3 with a couple of suggestions. I enjoy historic tours that cover the exact location, and cultural significance of the times & people! Our guide did a great job on that part of our tour. Pointing out the rooms, furniture, the weapons, etc. There’s a “ big picture” that was missing . . . Context at that period in history? Looking at the French , English, and Indians who were all involved in the conflict ?
There were 4 forts constructed at this time to protect Great Britain’s land claims in this area of New England. We didn’t really hear that part of the history? I realize most guides are volunteers, I hesitate to mention any problems with the program. You can fill in the “rest of the story “ on your own, if you are interested.
Also I might suggest it’s a park, maybe add in a few picnic tables just outside the fences, for folks who’s like to sit & enjoy their lunch?
Beautiful area next to the Kennebec River with Augusta split city on both sides. 😃👍🏼

Solid visit. Fifteen bucks to get in if you are an adult. They only do guided tours, no walking around by yourself. We told our guide we only had 20 minutes and he condensed the hour long tour for us. Genuinely interesting history here from a neglected period of pre-American history.

Really interesting. This museum is over 100 years old. I never realized it was here! The oldest building in North America. We had Josh. Good guide. The site starts in Pilgrim times and goes right to 1922. With that variety, there are a lot of stories.

The Old Fort Western is a living museum, and part of the National Historic Landmarks in NA. I believe is the oldest wooden French & Indian War era building in North America. Our awesome guide Gary, toured us privately, offering a rich experiences for the kids and the No so kids anymore. Parking was a breeze, family rates available. Check times as I believe it closes for winter. Enjoy.

I loved this Fort! Very interesting history and tons of original objects!
We want to say a special thank to our guide William, who is also a descendant of one of the first 50 people, who arrived to the Fort almost 300 years ago - isn't it incredible??
William gave us an amazing tour, full of great details about the fort history, the everyday life of people in the fort in that time, explained the purpose of many objects there (we learned so much!!), explained how the canons worked and much much more. We really enjoed his tour and his sense of humor! Thank you again, William!
Also, William and everyone who worked there wore uniforms and dresses of that time on an extremely hot day and we appreciated it. Not easy!
The ladies in the shop were super nice, too!
Highly recommend to visit it! It's open seasonal - too cold in the winter we were told. Check their schedule prior coming.

Our homeschool group was able to go and have a 2 hr "day in the life" private tour. So much fun! Younger children learned daily life of kids back in that time, and older kids learned the soldier life. The staff was pleasant and accommodating to even the littlest ones.
Great place to visit to learn some early American history!!
We had a great time!! It was both of our first time watching something. It's been MANY years since I was in a play and he did the lights for one. It was nice to be on the other side and just sit and enjoy. We will be returning for a different performance in the future. Plus the ticket price is not much for what we saw.

If they host a production of the Scottish play, be aware that the ghosts here are real. The theater is beautiful and the plays they produce are excellent.

Annie was awesome! Molly B, played by Jackie Senft was divine.
Terrific actors and actresses with BEAUTIFUL voices. Well worth the trip from Manchester NH.

Soooo... Went to see M for Murder. Great play! Fabulous actors etc... The theater is small, cozy and intimate. The seating is standard theater seats. Bathrooms in first floor only, there is an elevator. The seats were purchased were not the seats we sat in... Our balcony seats had absolutely no full view of the stage... And if it weren't for the fact that there were other seats that weren't being sat in, which we moved to, we would have missed half the play as we could only see half the stage. Glad we moved... Do NOT sit in seats to the right of the theater in the balcony... You'll miss the whole thing!

Fine summer theater, great production of As You Like It. Just don't expect Broadway caliber acting or super stars. Prefer to leave Shakespeare to the Stratford Theatre near Toronto, see revivals of 20th century plays like the Shaw in Niagara-on-the-Lake in Ontario, or road productions of newer plays. $35 for senior tickets, nice. Great cozy old building.

We went to see "As You Like It" and it was fantastic. Great performance and great building. It's definitely worth seeing a show. Highly recommend.

Decided to go see Jacob Marley's Christmas Carol with my boyfriend. We were excited and optimistic about the show. Once we looked over the playbill we realized it was a one man show. We figured it was ether going to be amazing or let down. The play started off decent. About 20 minutes in it became hard to fallow as he kept talking to himself as many characters along with narrating the story. When it came to intermission we and many others decided to leave. Overall it was not a great experience and not worth the money. However the building itself was quite beautiful.
Intimate museum specializing in American & contemporary art, plus some Chinese & European works.
Top class art museum! They have many inspirational and thought provoking works from across time (they have a great Hellenistic collection for such a small in university). There was a tasteful homage to native American artists. They even had a weiwei piece that I'm especially fond of. I didn't have enough time to see all of the work... And there was a whole wing closed down while a new collection was being installed!
I was not expecting to experience such a quality collection when I showed up on a friend's recommendation. I have to return because I could only scratch the surface in my 3 hour tour.

What a treat! Brought my elderly mother here to enjoy the museum today, was pleasantly surprised to have them offer her a wheel chair so she could enjoy the art in it's entirety. Staff were helpful and friendly. 5 star!

I don't have a ton to say as my wife and I only stopped by briefly as a detour from traveling.
From what we did see, this museum had a quite a diverse collection of art, mostly American. It was far larger than expected, we were overwhelmed but in a good way. There is a lot to see here if you are willing to explore.
One of the best parts: It's free to the public. We will be back when we can take more time to appreciate the collection!
James Snietka — Google review
Plan at least two hours or three for this excellent collection. Free admission. Nearby parking. Note to the less able-bodied: galleries are wheelchair-accessible but there are heavy glass push-pull doors everywhere beginning with the entry door.

Beautiful museum with lots of different artists and techniques from local to international and past to present.
Staff is friendly and focused in keeping the environment clean and safe for all guests.
Amazing school program as well!

Going to a museum with a five year old is like being on a game show where you get points for how quickly you can view and read about each piece before your kid says they are bored. I think we made it almost an hour here, so I will take the 🏆
They were currently in the process of adding a new exhibit so part of the museum was closed but even with that there were plenty of beautiful pieces to enjoy
Town of Skowhegan by Yvonne Jacquette was definitely the favorite piece of the day. My five year old really loved how the artist was able to make the vehicles on the bridge look like they were going fast. 🚗💨

Wonderful museum. Has a Starbucks booth inside, which helped me stay alert for the long drive back to Aroostook County. The exhibition was displayed in a manner that allowed viewers to follow the progression of the artist's interest in his subject. Various permanent exhibits are on display, along with the temporary rotating exhibits. Free parking is available, and there is no admission charge for the museum. Worth the trip!

Such a great place to check out whether your spending an hour or the day. It's so big lots to look at and it's free. The Colby campus is always changing, but the art museum is easy to find.

This museum is a treasure in our community, and it is surprising that more locals do not avail themselves of it. The museum is free, with a tasteful donation box at the front desk. Visitors can come in without needing to interact with staff unless they want to.
Facility is well equipped with maps and seating.

one cannot say enough good things about this theater. clean lobby and theaters. not sticky! seating is comfortable. best of all the prices for tickets and, especially, concessions is fantastic! you don't feel like you're being ripped off. moving from Tallahassee, FL to here...I might actually love going to the movies again!

We always enjoy coming to this cinema. Clean, family friendly. Up to date movies. A treasure for Farmington. We have John Moore to thank. The only suggestion would be playing some old classics now and then.

Up to date movies, great service, lovely atmosphere! Well kept! Great prices! Good people! I've been going here for over 15 yrs!

The least expensive theater I’ve ever been to, yet that in no way diminishes the quality! Recliner seats, homemade cookies, cheap concessions
This is the theater to go to!
Would recommend buying tickets in advance though because they get packed

Sometimes, it can be a bit chilly in the winter. We bring a small blanket. Polite staff, clean restrooms, and affordable. $5 for a large popcorn and 3 for a small if I remember correctly. 2.50 for a small drink with free refills ? I forget. Thought I heard someone say there was a couch in the front of the theater, but I did not confirm.

I have been going to this movie theatre my entire life and have watched it decline yearly. The place is absolutely freezing and the bathrooms are DISGUSTING! There is no hot water to wash your hands, the front door is wide open in the lobby and it is 37 degrees out! Prices and snacks are good as long as you don’t mind missing half your movie from waiting in line for the snacks. Poor place is run down And could really use some TLC.

A nice theatre with a fun mix of old-school charm and modern seating/presentation. The staff is chill, and the concessions are top notch.

What a jewel for the community of Farmington. My husband and I were staying with friends at their camp in Chesterville. We went to see the cinema in Farmington to see Harrison Ford's new movie and were pleasantly shocked at the cinema! Aside from the $7 ticket prices, the accommodations are better than most of the major cinema chains. Other communities with shuttered theaters should follow Farmington's example. I know I will be sharing their story with communities here in NE Ohio.

This place I found to be very reasonably priced. There aren't very many movie theaters You can take your Kiddo get popcorn drink and tickets for about 25 bucks!

We went there for a concert and ended up camping out for the night. John the owner was very kind, generous, and extremely helpful! There are inside movie theaters, an outside drive up screen, a restaurant with outside seating and a stage for bands, and best of all a new camping area. I highly recommend anyone visiting Farmington Maine to check this place out!

Rented snowmobiles for a day. Great machines, and the small extra fee to rent all the needed gear (jacket, overalls, gloves, boots, helmet!) Was great. Friendly staff answered any questions as i was a first time rider. Instructed how to ride and any safety items necessary to operation. Great time and price for the area and activity

We rented 5 ATVs for 4 hours from their Bingham location. The staff was very friendly and helpful and recommended a great route. We ended up being about 1.5 hours late due to some issues we ran into since we had a new rider. The staff only charged us the 1hr late fee. The machines we used were nearly new and worked perfectly. Their machines do not have limiters on the engine. The nearby trails were a nice mix of straight and clear and more interesting sections to navigate. There were multiple beautiful places to stop.

Great experience. Check in was easy. The directions were great(although the map could be labeled better)
We caused damages to the rental and they let us know and we took care of the charges. They didnt charge us for gas because he felt bad about making us pay extra for the damages(our fault) which was nice. Overall great experience and I would recommend booking with the company directly.

Had a great time in a guided side-by-side tour! We went out for 4 hours and had so much fun traveling all around. Highly recommend getting a guide - they weren’t at all overbearing, just took us to the best sites and trails (including a hidden waterfall!).
We also took a pontoon ride in the evening and it was just beautiful - super relaxing, and my husband even went for a quick swim!

Absolutely beautiful and an amazing experience. Staff was extremely helpful and knowledgeable! We originally were going for two hours but they were honest and said four hours would be the better choice as being given more to reach certain points with views! I recommend four hours, it was plenty of time without a rush (considering we got lost haha). The pricing was great for the four person side by side for four hours! They were in great condition and even had a bluetooth option connecting to speakers so that was awesome to listen to music while cruising around:) Definitely a must do and would 100% return again!!!

Basic tents & cabins in a casual riverside retreat with a pub, plus fishing, rafting & hiking.
I am so glad we signed up to go rafting with these guys. They had everything we needed to stay warm and safe; wet suits, jackets, helmets, PFD's. They reviewed safety with us several times. All the guides were funny and knowledgeable. Our guide was Ben and he was AMAZING! Very personable, super knowledgeable about the river; great sense of humor and made everyone feel comfortable; no matter our age and skill level. He had us do several ' maneuvers' to make the trip even more fun. Just can't say enough about him and the trip and how great it was. We also did a moose tour the next day and Dana was our guide. He really knew his areas and moose information! Great time! Will definitely recommend North Country Rivers to everyone!! Karen and Ashley from FLA.

What a wonderful whitewater rafting experience !! I highly recommend it.
We stayed in the cabins for two nights, had all our weekend meals at Patrick's Pub on site, and did the Ultimate Turbine Test on the Kennebec River. Everything about it was outstanding! All the staff, from the check in people to the restaurant servers to the guides were so friendly and went out of their way to make us feel welcome and appreciated.
Our guide was Gabe, and he was fantastic all day. He trained us well and always told us in advance what to expect. And he assured us that if anyone fell out of the raft into the river, or if the raft flipped, everything would be alright and advised us to remain calm. Well, I fell out! It was an exciting and thrilling experience. I stayed calm, and Gabe very skillfully dragged me back into the raft. Thanks, Gabe! And on we continued!!!
Definitely one of the most fun days of my life !!!!

Stayed here in one of the larger cabins while visiting family in the area. The cabin was great ! Every thing we needed. Beds were comfortable and the kitchen was equipped with everything we needed. Very clean . The main building serves food which was excellent and the decor was very attractive. I hear the rafting guides are wonderful and some of the best in the area. We will be back in the summer and enjoy this when it is warmer. We will stay here again.

I have been rafting with North Country for almost 20 years with my family, church groups and every year I go with customers once or twice. My experience is always the exact same: every guide is professional, safety conscious and very entertaining as the rafting trip progresses.
You'll particularly enjoy Jim's guides all work in Patrick's Pub and provide so much insight into your rafting trip as they serve the meals and drinks at Patrick's. The food is great pub food and we've never had a bad meal there. The campground has open spaces for groups, or a little more quiet hidden spots for camping and the cabins are always clean. The atmosphere is wonderful as guests are treated so well. I highly recommend staying at the site.

Had an absolutely Fantastic day rafting with North Country River! The staff were friendly, safe and fun. I appreciated the splash jacket they provided! The rapids were full and fun! Jim was a terrific guide and gave us interesting information in between rapids. We saw bald eagles. The nature was stunning. The water was clear and gorgeous. I was not too cold even in September. I would happily go again!

Absolutely amazing experience, staff, equipment and restaurant. I can honestly say that when I showed up I was nervous about the trip. I had never been white water rafting and after watching every horror trip video on YouTube my anxiety was through the roof. The staff use homegrown comedy and banter to ease the stressful situation and made me feel instantly comfortable as if I was rafting with friends. When it was time to be serious the staff were professional, highly experienced and knowledgeable. No questions went unanswered and the patience of the guides is unmatched. This was an amazing trip and I can’t wait to go again with the family.

I was there August 2021 and went white water rafting. It definitely was a good time and well worth the money. We got to spend the day rafting and they even fed us lunch. Which was pretty good. Our guide was Derek. He made sure we were well aware of what was coming up and what we should do. We'd definitely go again. All the staff were very friendly and welcoming. Great Job North Country Rivers!

Yes to this company! Loved every second of our rafting experience. Ethan was our guide and he was great at managing 8 crazy people in a raft and got us through class 4 rapids unscathed and even brought us through a lovely side river called the Garry Grinder…. Well… that’s what we called it atleast!
The lodging was great too and all the food they served was delicious. 10 stars!!

My husband and I took 4 kids (two 9-yr and two 11-yr) to join the half day white water rafting in late June 2023. North Country Rivers was very thoughtful by assigning two guides, Hayden and Cody, to our raft, while the other rafts each had only one guide. The water level was high due to the rain over weeks and the recent release from dam. We all had a fabulous time without any accident. Hayden was very experienced, calm, and cautious to guide us through some rough rapids. Kids had a blast nonstop laughing. Hayden even brought some gummy bears in a secret container to cheer up a teary brother from a sibling conflict. The end of the day buffet at the lodge hit right to the spot. Each of us went back for the second serving. We all would love to come back - next time will be a full day trip :)

We parked our RV on site (2 nights) and took the Kennebec river 4 hour tour (Myself and my 11yo Daughter). River was great, our guide, Dana was the best. There is a gas station/grocery right across the street, which was very convenient in an RV (although took away from the wilderness of Maine aspect a tiny bit...) Quiet, not crowded RV spots (there was 1 other RV while we were there, with water/power/fire pit) Some trails to walk/hike on the property. Would absolutely reccomend/return.

The lodge has fantastic food. We stayed down below by the river in a framed tent. Shouldn't expect too much in a situation like that but the cots were comfortable. we provided our own sleeping bags and pillows. There was a light and a fire pit out in front along with a picnic bench. Absolutely fantastic time with family. The money that you spend for the videos is not something that I would recommend. We spent approximately $60 for the videos, which totaled less than 30 seconds of combined footage of our run. No b-roll or anything else of that nature with regards to the campsites and / or large interaction with guests. The cameraman was excellent, very courteous, but I think the photos are overpriced for what you're getting.

The cabin we shared was HUGE!! It had plenty of room for a large group and we arrived to a very clean space. The guides were really AMAZING! Fun and informative and kept our rafts right-side-up (mostly) and kept things very light and fun, yet made it very clear that safety was paramount with several safety briefings and repeating reminders often. Unexpectedly, I find myself booking for my next weekend right now!

For ATV enthusiasts, Bingham’s cabins are a haven of unparalleled joy. These cabins aren’t just situated near the trails; they provide direct access to a sprawling ATV trail system, making it a seamless transition from cozy cabin to adrenaline-pumping adventure. This ease of access means you can effortlessly enjoy multiple rides throughout the day, returning to the comfort of your cabin in between.
The surrounding terrain and trails cater to a variety of skill levels, from beginners seeking a leisurely ride to experienced riders looking for challenging terrains. The convenience of having such trails right at your doorstep eliminates the need for long hauls or transport, making it an ATV rider’s dream destination.
In addition to the trail-centric perks, the cabins themselves are well-equipped. A fully-stocked kitchen allows you to prepare hearty meals to refuel after intense rides. The fire pit is a perfect spot to share stories of the day’s adventures, while indoor and outdoor seating ensures everyone has a comfy spot to relax and recount their exhilarating ATV experiences.
Moreover, the cabins’ strategic location opposite a supermarket, gas station, and car wash is invaluable. Refueling your ATV, restocking supplies, or even giving your ride a quick wash becomes hassle-free.
Though tempted to dine out at the nearby Patrick’s restaurant, they seem to be running a bit short-staffed. However, if you have a penchant for patience, their dishes, especially the fish & chips and burger, are worth the wait.
In summary, if ATV adventures are what you seek, coupled with the comforts of a well-appointed cabin and nearby conveniences, Bingham, Maine should be at the top of your list. It’s not just a stay; it’s an experience. Highly recommended!
While we encountered shy moose during our tour, Cindy our tour guide, was absolutely amazing.

We spent the prior day up from Bar Harbor doing a 'self guided' moose tour. We got some great photos and saw fantastic scenery but struck out in the Moose department.
We decided to make the trip back up country the next day and booked the afternoon 'Moose Safari'. Laura was our guide. She has led a very interesting life and had no qualms about sharing snippets of what brought her to this place at this time. Her stories were engaging.
The van was full and Brent (another reviewer) sat behind me. He was the only person on the van with a serious camera and everyone else was using their phones. It was great that Laura made the extra effort to get Brent out of the van for about 15 minutes of excellent photo time. Nobody was in a rush to move on. We were searching for Moose and we had two right there.
Interestingly, the mother Moose and daughter were about 75 yards away at first and over the next 10 minutes they moved to within 30 yards of the van. Excellent Encounter.
If you are heading to this area, be sure to book in advance. There are several outfitters in the region but things do book up fast.
We do recommend these folks. The tour was great.
We did make a couple suggestions to Laura.
1) WD-40 for the squeaky doors.
2) Wash the windows so guests can get clearer shots.

I cant recommend this place enough! We had an absolute blast and an experience that will last into the ages. Went with a groups of friends just expecting to have an ok adventure but it was far beyond that. The staff at this place make the trip and they really know how to make you feel special. Our tour guide was incredible and had alot of experience guiding down the river. The lunch was cooked to perfection and if there was some left over they let you get seconds. You have alot of time to both enjoy the scenery and crash through the rapids. For what you pay, its worth it in my eyes. You go down the river for multiple hours get plenty of photos taken and get thrown into a crazy river…. Whats not to love? This is great for friends and family alike so you must try this when in Greenville. The only thing i caution on is weather. Make sure you are prepared and go in the warmer months. Trust me you will thank me as the water can get cold. I have so much more i could type but it’d take way too much time. Thanks guys for making this experience one of a kind. I will praise you to anyone who is interested!

We stayed on site in one of the yurts and did the van tour. I cannot reccomend them enough! The yurt was fabulous and beyond comfortable. The van tour was fun and offered great nature views. We didn't get lucky with a moose sighting, but that's wildlife. Highly recommend ordering the food delivery if you stay in the yurts! Dinner was absolutely phenomenal and also really convenient after the van tour to have our meal ready for us.

Amazing tour of Moosehead and its surrounding areas and mountains for moose! Our tour guide, Byron, was incredibly knowledgeable and had a great sense of humor. Definitely recommend!

Well - we didn’t see a moose but the trip was still awesome. We went on the Moose Canoe tour and the pond was like ice. Calm, peaceful and secluded. I could have stayed another hour on the pond. Our guide Tim was very knowledgeable and gave us pointer on where to look for moose in other places, and we did see one that night.

Our family had an awesome time on the moose safari! Our tour guide Ace was professional, courteous and knowledgeable about everything from getting us to the lake for the safari to managing us on the canoe. We were so excited when we saw a female moose! I would definitely do this safari again!

This is our second tour with this group. Once last year for the land tour and this year for the canoe tour. Unfortunately we are 0/2 for seeing moose. Our tour guides were very nice and informative. If you’re wondering which tour is more worth it I’d suggest the canoe tour as long as it’s not too cold, because at least if you don’t get to see a moose you’ll enjoy some peaceful canoeing.

This tour met every expectation.. Our guide Laura lived a life that blessed her with a cross-section of expertise that allowed for informative answers to all questions. We opted for the afternoon tour which we knew was not ideal and she worked hard to find us our moose experience and succeeded. I also need to mention, I have a disability and almost missed my picture opportunities but she recognized my situation in a group of 10 and made sure I did not. Above and beyond on all levels, and worth more than some of those tours with higher price tags. Thank you so very much Laura, and Northeast Whitewater!
PS
Did I mention the awesome mid-trip surprise in-house baked treats??

The moose tour was awesome! We had to drive 2 hours in the fog and drizzle, but got there early (0545 hrs.). Three people did not show, but our guide called them and waited an extra 15 minutes. Most businesses would not have waited, and those people better not complain! I was so excited for the tour that I did not catch our guide's name, but she was originally from California. She was very informative and interesting. Not to mention her driving skills on those crazy logging roads!!!
The adventure part is actually looking for a moose. We got to see a fox jumping around, catching prey. Then we got to a pond, walked to the edge, and stumbled upon a moose eating!! Holy cow, literally! She was beautiful and only a few feet away. The guide backed us up and showed us city kids from Toledo, Ohio, how to be respectful. The cow walked in front of us and up into the woods. What a high!
I know moose are elusive, and they tell you not to expect to see any but what luck!
Thanks for the tour, the brownie, and the coffee it was fun with a moose on top.

We did both whitewater rafting and the moose canoe trip. Couldn't have had a better experience. Both of our guides were fantastic. We were lucky and got to see two moose. Got some great photos. Highly recommend both trips

My family had another long weekend stay and adventure with Northeast Whitewater at the end of July. We stayed three nights in one of their Yurts. Their yurts are very spacious and comfortable. It was clean and outfitted with bedding, fan, heater and lights. We participated in Whitewater Rafting on both the Kennebec river with our favorite guide Jessie and the Penobscot river with our second favorite guide Bryce. Jessie took the time to teach our daughter some basics of being a guide and lets her guide the raft at the end while giving great guidance and instructions to continue to ensure a safe trip. Bryce was very informative thru the trip, showing us things to look for to safely navigate the river, he was unnecessarily a little hard on himself when something wasn't perfect, but our trip with him was great. The staff here at Northeast is outstanding! Derek of course really adds the extra touch of fun to our adventures, his personality just makes you feel like your out with friends. Charlotte in the office is such a kind and patient person, she is very knowledgeable and upbeat. Barry is a great bus driver with lots of personality (and the best hat ever) he has his ways of making the long ride to and from the river as enjoyable as possible (can't give anything away, you'll just have to ride with him). Everyone here always makes us feel like our trip is as important to them as it is to us and they take the extra step to make our experience great. This trip we were celebrating our son's 21st birthday, the staff was willing to transport our cake out to the lunch site so we could surprise him with it. Not only did they do this for us, but they can definitely cook some good food, especially after spending the day on the river getting beat with you. Make sure you take your brownie too... they are so good! The little things this company does means so much to us. Everyone on their staff is extremely friendly, even Mack, who I think believed I was unfriendly, was very pleasant and friendly. I give her great appreciation and admiration for how well she still was with us. Northeast is is definitely a much smaller outfit compared to the other options. For us, this really makes them stand out more. From the first email till we are fully booked, they work hard to help us plan our "perfect" trip. Then from the moment we check in until we check out, they made us feel welcome and at home. Very few trips we take make us feel like family while we are with them, Northeast definitely does this. I think that honesty the only complaints we have for this trip are that we miss the lunches on the river, they had a special and unique feeling to them as opposed to eating afterwards and that when you need to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night or in a rush, its a long way from the yurt to the bathroom. Would love to see an outhouse or something closer to the camp sites. Definitely not a deal breaker with all the amazing things Northeast has, but would be nice for the kids for sure! This was not our first vacation with them and definitely not our last. Northeast has become part of our annual vacations. Thank you for making another trip great.

We did the Moose Canoe Tour and Ace was amazing (apologies if my spelling was incorrect!). It was about an hour drive out to the remote lake, and about an hour on the lake. We didn't see any moose on the tour, but we were given a fair warning beforehand and set our expectations accordingly. We did however see a number of other wildlife, like ducks and loons, and learned tons of facts about animals during the drive. Honestly the access to the canoe and education on the area was value enough! after going on the trip and speaking with Ace, my partner and I feel a lot more comfortable venturing out on to the logging roads our selves and hopefully spotting a moose in the future! Ace was also fantastic and did several female moose calls, which was amazing!
So glad we did the tour even if we didn't see the moose, if you love wildlife and conservation in general this would be great for you! If you just want to see a moose, you need to adjust your expectations and understand that they moose aren't guaranteed.
To the other reviews that were disappointed that they did not see a moose, remember that moose and other animals are WILD and do not operate on a tourist schedule. Not even zoo can guarantee that you will see a specific animal, because they can hide / be out of sight for a number of reasons. Part of the fun of tours or 'safaris' is not knowing what you might see!
Rustic lodges on hiking trails offering fireplaces, local dining, bunkrooms & shared bathrooms.
We spent 1 night in the Flagstaff hut. The staff were so friendly and accommodating. The hut is so cool and it's very interesting how they are able to run the operation (toilets turn waste to fertilizer, solar panel, wood stoves)
The trails were expertly maintained and its the perfect outdoor adventure for anyone looking to get out this winter.

We took advantage of Maine Huts and Trails' option for private rental of the whole hut. We booked the Flagstaff Hut and headed up with a group of friends for an early November weekend. Kevin, the caretaker, met us at the trail head to drive our belongings to the hut. He showed us around got us comfortable with the hut and its off-grid magic. After that, we were on our own. We enjoyed the amazing trails for running, mountain biking and hiking. The hut is in good condition and has everything you might need for cooking (less the food, we brought that). We enjoyed the many puzzles and games at the hut. It is nice to be without cell service once in a while. Kevin was there to pick us up on Sunday and we were sad to go. We hope to return soon either for another private rental or during the typical service with a caretaker.

Awesome network of trails and huts. Whether hiking, biking or skiing, there is a scenic trial to take. And the huts are remote, but still comfortable. We have used them as a family of two adults and two kids under 10. The staff has always been super friendly and the facilities clean and relaxing.

Three Rivers Whitewater offers an unforgettable experience with amazing rafting and kayaking adventures. The river guides are well-trained, knowledgeable, and create a fun and energetic atmosphere. The ease of registration and overall organization make the trip hassle-free. While some visitors were disappointed by the lack of post-trip entertainment and limited photo options, the bunkhouse accommodations received praise for being well-built and suitable for families. Despite these minor drawbacks, many highly recommend Three Rivers Whitewater for an exciting outdoor adventure.
Been rafting numerous times on different rivers with Three Rivers, along with kayaking and tubing. We've had an awesome guide every time; all very knowledgeable of the river, and great people to be around. I never doubt their skill navigating the river and we always feel comfortable knowing that they can handle an emergency if one were to arise. This was the first year we brought children (youngest one age 10), and the guides did a wonderful job with them - helping them out, comforting them about the rapids, and praising them for their hard work and bravery.
Along with the guides, the staff is also very friendly and helpful.
We stayed in the bunkhouses at the Kennebec location this year - they are clean, very spacious, and the mattresses were way more comfortable than I thought they would be! The shower/bath houses were also extremely clean and well taken care of. The store is awesome, has everything you need! And the restaurant/bar is great, too!

We stayed in the Carriage House, a sweet apartment with a kitchen, delicious bathroom, and the the most comfortable beds. Three Rivers was amazing! We went as a group from Bates College as a "final trip" for the year, and they were incredible hosts. We arrived Friday night, and they prepared a great meal for us and karaoke. We then camped on their lawn area. The bathrooms are well-maintained and have showers as well. They prepared breakfast and lunch for us the next day as well. We rafted in about 8 different rafts down the Dead River, which was a fantastic opportunity! The guides/staff were fantastic and very kind, along with willing to answer questions while also giving an in-depth safety speech/demonstration. Overall, I would absolutely come back for more rafting!

We had a blast on this trip! This is an awesome adventure, we went on a release day so the river was pumping, our guide Hailey did a great job of getting our raft to work together to navigate the rapids. We also camped for a few days on the Three Rivers grounds, our site was on the water, and felt very secluded although all the modern conviences were just a few minutes away, the store is well stocked and the bar and grill have great options for drinks and prepped food. There are other great restaurants and and Inn's in the area where the hospitality is second to none. This will for sure be an annual trip.

The folks at Three Rivers Whitewater Rafting are awesome. Our experience was one that we will never forget. It was made so much better by the ease of registering for two outings (kayaking and rafting) on the river on two consecutive days, checking in (the day of), and the overall organization of their system.
Our river guides Bobby (Kayaking) and "B" (rafting) were extremely well trained and prepared for all contingencies. Both were very congenial.
We had a blast - memories for the rest of our lives.
I would highly recommend Three Rivers Whitewater Rafting.

Had an outstanding time rafting with 3 Rivers. The energy exhibited by all the guides was infectious. It is clear they love what they do and truly enjoy and support one another.
Our guide, Sam was knowledgeable, professional and extremely competent. She shared many interesting facts about the river and pointed out some very interesting areas as we cruised along in the current.
If you have ever thought about a rafting trip, Three Rivers is the place to go. Ask for Sam to guide your trip! You will NOT be disappointed.

This was truly a magnificent river rafting experience, the staff in all areas of the experience were super nice and helpful and encouraging. They went out of their way to make sure you had a great wonderful time and had such a way with getting you to interact with the water and the raft so you can do anything like surfing the rapid, that was the coolest. It was also amazing how they made sure you got to fill every part of that river while getting your adrenaline rush and still feeling amazed at the scenery is incredible. I highly recommend everyone to use this company for their first or multiple rafting trips!!!!!
The food is really good as well.!!!!!

Our group of 8 went for white water rafting on the Kennebec River with Three Rivers. It was an amazing experience. Many of us were first time rafters and everyone did an excellent job with the instructions and safety training. Our guide, Parker, helped us through all the rapids safely, told us fun facts about the nearby surroundings, and let us jump into river, swim around, and do cool tricks on the rafts. The team also served us lunch, which tasted amazing. Very fun experience and the team is very friendly, and caring. Lots of fun!

My son, his pal, and I did our first white water rafting trip with Danielle from Three Rivers Whitewater. It was an awesome trip. Danielle was knowledgeable, entertaining, and a great guide. The location is easy to find and the lunch was delicious. Although other services feed you on the river, finishing the trip and making our way back to Three Rivers base camp was perfect as we could change and clean up and have a very leisurely lunch. We will definitely raft with them again and look forward to a fun trip on the Dead and the Penobscot.

I had such an exhilarating, fun day whitewater rafting with Three Rivers, that I booked the following day to do it again! Both trips were awesome, but the first day, our guide, Haley L., really stood out. Her enthusiasm, knowledge about the River and the rapids and skill navigating our boat were amazing! Her excitement was contagious and her ability to pass on her knowledge and communicate what we needed to do was exceptional. The bond and team she fostered amongst strangers continued after our rafting with a luncheon and slideshow at the Bar/Restaurant. Good food and drink wrapped up a wonderful experience in all facets at Three Rivers!
The cabin we stayed in was clean, rustic and just a short walk to the river complete with a BBQ, frig, fire pit and slept 8 at a very reasonable cost. Add to that a thorough safety briefing, a shop for anything you might need, great staff and restaurant/bar and don't think you'll find a better place to raft! My next rafting trip will be at Three Rivers and the other rivers they explore!! Go there and have a blast!!

Very fun experience! I came with a big group and we camped for a night and then went whitewater rafting the following morning. The campsites and bathrooms are nice, and the food is good. Whitewater rafting was so much fun! Not near as scary as I thought it would be. The river and surrounding wilderness is stunning. The guides are very nice and really know what they are doing.

Just had our first re-visit in 12 years. The rafting, our guide Ellery, and food were amazing!! We stayed in a bunkhouse which was well-built and fit our family of 4 perfectly. The biggest disappointment for us was the downgrade to a few river pictures only. In past years we've had an entire video montage to share with friends which excited more people to go the following year with us. Also, there was nothing to stay for in the evening after the trip. However, I definitely recommend Three Rivers and will be returning! Grab your friends and sense of adventure, and head to TRW for some high water fun!!!

I will only go rafting with Three Rivers Whitewater from now on! 8 of us went together in one raft with our guide, River. River was amazing - he told us clearly what to do, we did it, and he encouraged us the whole way. He was good at reading our group dynamics and keeping things fun for us, teaching us as we went along, answering my hundreds of questions I had (he was also very patient). We met most of the other guides there too, and they were ALL super friendly, inviting, fun, and kind. They all knew what they were doing and I would trust any of them to keep us safe. We had a great day at the high water release on the Kennebec September 23rd and successfully conquered Maytag! Campsites were great too.

A group of my friends booked a white water rafting trip with Three Rivers for the Dead River release on Labor Day weekend. We had the most amazing time start to finish. We camped at a beautiful site right on the Kennebec River at the Three Rivers campground. The hospitality was wonderful and we really felt like part of the family. As for the rafting, it was the funnest time of my life. Our guide Fletch was amazing and was able to quickly gauge our ability and sense of adventure and was able to give us exactly the challenge we asked for while maintaining safety. Big John was awesome, and wife was so nice to us, thanks guys. Then there was regular John who took care of in the lounge , the cream drink was great, thanks John for welcoming, us we had a blast. Everyone who worked there made sure they had conversations with everyone. The video guy was great and historical. Jim cooked a mean steak and a awesome cookie. We checked in very easily with normal waivers. We got our so you don't die training.
Then a short bus ride. Passed a couple of nice spots on the way. The dam was impressive and the 9/11 upgrades are nice. It was very easy to decend with the raft. My wife is 5 foot and she had no issue.
Very easy boarding situation the next 30 min were very enjoyable class 4 rapids. Even a few places to do a little float rapids.
The river flowed nicely with safety gear placed all along the route. I felt very relieved knowing that they took safety so seriously.
Adrenaline rating top 30min was 4 out of 5
Bottom part of run was class 2 and 3 moving quickly. Couple nice spots strategic camera shots.
Ive been on trips where lunch is on the river. Usually some burgers or hot dog etc. Not really awesome.
Honestly the way US rafting does it you get a delicious meal with steak, green beans, baked beans etc. Was great because while we ate they showed all the great pics for us.

Very friendly people. Beautiful sights. Access to the lake in the center of town. Not the best for campers, narrow roads, and limited camp sites.

Possibly my most favorite lake in Maine- We were lucky to have fantastic weather all week. We were able to explore some of this magical place, even with our small boat. I would suggest it is not a lake to be taken lightly, but with respect and awe. The sheer size and depth are amazing, and I want to read and research before another adventure.
Jane Croston — Google review
We rented a cabin on the shore and kayaked the lake. Being a Colorado boy I'm more used to true wilderness. Nonetheless, great people, great views, a most enjoyable week during fall colors

Such a great place to visit so many things to see. In Greenville there are some nice shops and places to eat. You can travel all around the lake to see the sites and to adventure about.

Popular for hiking to a fire tower overlook, this rustic, wooded site features 700-ft. cliffs.
Such a beautiful place! Husband and I hiked here, Indian trail several years ago. There were some challenging areas but the whole hike was gorgeous and so worth it!
Dianne Pettis Williams — Google review
Great hike and view. Trail ran up the Indian trail and it was hard but not terrible. If you are afraid of heights I recommend taking the other trail. My reason for four stars is that the trail was extremely muddy and wet. Overall fun trail. I would do it again.
Kayla H. — Google review
Great rugged short hike! Very tall tower at the top grants amazing views. Trail up the backside is a bit hard to follow.
Ben Kent — Google review
Great views if you walk 50 feet from the top down Indian Trail. The hike to the fire watch to me wasn't worth it. You can't drive to the island even though Google says you can and it's $13.00 round trip by water taxi. Takes 40 Minutes at a good pace to get to the top using Bridal trail.
Johnny K — Google review
We took our own boat over, after launching at the Rockwood public boat launch. The slips at the golf course are free to use, just make sure you tie your boat up so you don't slam into the dock. The hike, as others have described, is wonderful. We took the Indian trail up, with nice views towards the south of Moosehead, and the Bridal trail down (it was a little nicer on our legs). However, there are no views on the Bridal trail. Of course, we climbed the fire tower for the 360 degree views.
Bob Manninen — Google review
The shorter Indian Trail was a hard 0.5 hike/climb. I was on my hands & knees and hugging trees in spots (because I'm 58 and outta shape) but I would do it again; the views are breathtaking. NOT for dogs. The moderate Bridal Trail & Indian Trail merge at the top where there is a great view. Another 10 minute(?) walk brings you to the fire tower where there is no view unless you climb it: SPECTACULAR! I was nervous climbing up-the decent was scary: totally worth it.

All descriptions I read were that the Bridle Trail was 'easy.' I enjoy hiking, but I can't say that I enjoyed this. I would label it as more of a 'moderate-strenuous' trail as it's pretty much straight up. Admittedly I am a bit out of shape, but I was prepared for this hike and still only made it halfway. My best advice: Know your limits and trust your gut.
It's hard to tell in the picture, but those rocks continue straight up the hill.

Wonderful little paradise! I almost gave up halfway, I never hiking before and for my first time I thought I gonna die hahaha but I survived! it's worth visiting🤩

If we c as n we wpuld definitely come again. ( Esecially great when after we left my daughter realized she had forgotten her book, when we came back for it our waiter upon sight gave it back to us. We were so happy.😄) We would recommend this restaurant to anyone and everyone.

It's perfect for family! Some staffs can speak english. Especially in Ski école, many instructors are bilinguals. It's impressed me. They are passion, patient and experienced. I can't imagine how fast my son has improved. From a totally beginner to a skier. Thanks Samuel, Tamara, Léa and Jean! We definitely will be back on weekend.

You can find all winter activities here: ski, cross-country skiing, snowboard, raquets, sliding...you can rent the equipment as well and buy winter accesories. Keep in mind that just a few employees speak english, which makes non-speaking french people a little difficult to ask for help. Overall, great place to hang out with family or friends.

Visited Lac Etchemins for a few days and tried the snowshoe trails. They are well maintained generally and cross country skiing looks excellent. Directions could be better however as we had a bit of trouble reading the trail map.

Good times to be had! Fun atmosphere, with music and a big fire roaring at night. The Casse Croute in the lodge was amazingly priced and delicious and the bar looked like it had some quality apres ski. 6 pack lift is quick and efficient. Not a big mountain with long runs and parts of the lodge could use an upgrade.

Diverse state park above 900 m., featuring diverse landscapes, year-round activities & camping.
It was our first visit of this park. We decided to hike Mount Chocolate. The trail was very well maintained and clearly marked, so it is hard to be lost. The place is beautiful and very family friendly. Many interesting spots for kids. Check out the castle and suspended bridge. I've added more info on our Adventurion blog and Adventurion channel.

Very nice park and very friendly for campers. The info centre provides free shower and drinkable water. We camped at Beaudoin and there was a stream nearby, we slept listening to the relaxing sound of the stream. End of June there seems to be some bugs, bring bug spray or net and enjoy your stay!

First of all, let me say that I would have stayed longer than just one night at this beautiful park.
Helpful staff!
And the location for the camping was perfect. Right beside a stream.
Neighbouring campers were respectful and not too loud at all. You aren’t too close to each other so you still have quite a bit of privacy regardless.
Campsites have an on-location site where you can burn logs (that you can buy at the accueil if needed but I would suggest buying birch or maple and not what they sell although it burns quick and helps the fire start up).
They have porto potties, so no worries, you don’t have to poo in a hole and bury it.
Apparently they have showers (although haven’t seen it in person).
The STARS you can see on a clear night sky is insane and humbling.
Also! One thing also worth mentioning was the fact that there was almost zero to no mosquitoes!
We drove there all the way from Montreal! The drive was long, yes, but the experience just for the day was worth it.
Overall, awesome.

Beautiful hoke around the river with a couple of brodge to cross. The shelter was really good! Pot and pans, paper for the stove, wood in quantity and 2 big jugs of deinlable water was waiting for us! Don’t hesitate, go for it. Was a good weekend with friends!

Best zoo ever. You have lots of proximity to the animals.
You have a good variety of animals.
One thing that is great at Miller Zoo is that you can see they care about the animals. They look healthy. One example is the tiger. He has the most beautiful fur I have seen from any zoo around the world.
Great job to the managers and employees.
This is alwats great to go because it is evolving from year to year.
Andre Gosselin — Google review
Had an amazing time at the Miller Zoo. The animals were beautiful and each of them have their own history and personality. They feed animals in front of you and give you a lot of facts about the species. There’s a restaurant and a food truck. We came from Montreal and weren’t disappointed at all. I’ll go back for sure. I recommend !

It was an excellent activity for the day. The kids loved it and there were a large variety of animals. The food was really good as well and both the park and the restaurant were reasonably priced. It was a bit of a drive but it was scenic. the only thing I would have liked to have seen was to have the information cards throughout the park be in both French and English and not just French. Loved it though
Bernard Joosten — Google review
We love Miller Zoo! It’s a great place to spend the day. The site is enormous. There is a multitude of animals. There are picnic tables scattered throughout the site if you want to pack a lunch. There is also a restaurant on site and food trucks parked at the entrance if you’d rather purchase your food. There’s a playground for the kids. A gift shop to browse. And the staff is polite and knowledgeable! Our favourite part is the tiger feeding hour. Definitely worth the drive to visit!
Kelsey Nicole McSpadden — Google review
Great place! The animals seemed really well treated, the park was clean and the staff friendly.
Some extra shade for visitors would be nice in extremely sunny conditions and the toilets on the reserve side were less than ideal but otherwise it was a great experience.
Bubble C6H4Cl2 — Google review
It's still a work in progress but it is good to have a zoo in the area. There are portable toilets for public use. There is also a food truck on site. There are plenty of picnic tables in the shade but I do recommend that you get there early so that you can park close otherwise you may have to ride a shuttle bus to get there.
Vi James — Google review
Great parc with lots of animals to see and wonder around in their habitats. The cast (most part) seems to enjoy their work and specially those sharing stories of the animals arrival, history or fun facts (those of bears are always interesting). Most animals are in good shapes, with space to hide from you when i imagine they had enough of being seen 🤭... yet a great experience for kids and adults. You get a “food court” at the entrance, parking and reste area.
Khalel Leconte — Google review
My favorite zoo. From one month to the next there are constant modifications and upgrades to make the animals enclosures bigger and better. You can feel that they are here to help and the animals not just to bring in the tourists and that is ok with me. We visit like 5 times a year.
Catherine Manitius — Google review
Very friendly, welcoming zoo with close contact with nature
Went there with a friend, had barely heard about which is a shame, the place is great! Price is very very fair, the animal variety is nice and during winter you can go in the enclosures!
Would definitely recommend, but bring a pic-nic! They do have a small gift shop with chocolate bars and drinks but nothing else
Very family friendly, nice "home-made" feel and the animals are adorable and they look comfortable
Mαrc EC — Google review
I would give it a 1.5 star if I could. It is unfortunately far from the city and incredibly unorganized. You show up and end up in this massive field to wait for over an hour for a shuttle to bring you to the zoo, where you have to wait in line again to buy your ticket, since you can’t buy anything online. The total wait to even get in the zoo was over 2.5hrs and we still showed up decently early. It was so crowded and difficult to see anything or walk anywhere. Almost no COVID regulation was followed, even by the staff members. I overheard a staff member saying that there was over 5000 visitors that day, on a weekday.
The enclosures look like they barely make the minimum requirements for the animals. We only saw one animal being rehabilitated. Many enclosures are under renovations or empty. Unclear signs as to where the animals are or which animals are in what enclosures.
The only feeding time we were waiting for was for the lion one, with about 200 other people. Turns out we waited for no reason because there was another lion enclosure and all of us were at the incorrect one. They should be the times written on the enclosures for clarity.
The only thing I did enjoy was the little monkey in the attached photo. We completed the park on under 1.5-2hrs and left incredibly disappointed. On the way back we took the little shuttle that did not take us to our parking field, but to another shuttle that then took us to our car. To be clear, we waited almost 30 minutes for that shuttle.
Overall, the Miller Zoo looks like it’s a zoo that got big too quickly and it couldn’t keep up. Watching it on TV will be a much more enjoyable experience and a chance to actually see some animals. With the price we pay to go to the zoo, hopefully they will put it to good use.

A place to truly relax and recharge your body soul and mind was not too busy, enjoy the heated pool outside also profited of 50% off Tuesday on thermal bath access
christina gauvin — Google review
It is a must do activity if you're around. We did the 4 hour water energy basin (which included 13 different points in the basin), the hamam, the sauna, the heated pool outdoors and the hot spring outdoors. There were also more sauna rooms and a room with a heated jacuzzi outdoors.. there is a room where you can get yourself a fruit along with some hot herbal tea and use the lounge chairs which have massage bags on them for your back and shoulders. The water energy basin area has pool chairs everywhere. We went in the morning slot and thought it was great. No disturbance, not too many people (until about 1030 am) and worth every dollar. They also provide you with a locker which comes with 2 towels. I think you can rent a bathrobe if needed.
Pro tip: you can drive down here from Q-city to save some $$$ on the hotel that's associated in the same area.

The circuit was luke warm/cold water and I didn't enjoy it. I love Nordic spas but this one lacked the peaceful ambiance needed for a spa day. The outdoor hot tub was the best part but I didn't like the warm pools of water. The sauna was okay, could be hotter and the wet sauna was good and the cold plunge was beside it.

Place is very closed minded and very racist. Even though there was no commotions, nobody wanted to sit next to me and insults were being said. I was the only minority and everyone stared at me. Even when using the spa, people left because of my skin color. Ruin my day. It was a birthday gift giving to me by my wife. If you're a minority, DON'T GO!
