Excellent show. Tristan brought several people on to the stage and performed the illusions with their assistance and was available for pictures after with anyone. There are no bad seats but only about 120 seats available. Price was reasonable. My family and I enjoyed it a lot and I am sure you will as well.

Best Magic Show Ever!!!
Tristan Crist is amazing. The Theate is small, but perfect because you get a more upclose and personal show. You get to meet and greet, plus take pictures with Mr. Crist since you can't take any pictures or videos during the show. Plenty of parking, plus handicap parking available too.
The Punisher — Google review
Our first time here and it was just amazing! Nothing bad to say about the show at all. Interaction with the crowd was fun and they even threw in a lot of funny humor which was great for us adults. Meet and greet at the end with pictures and autographs which was neat! Good memories made
Shelly W — Google review
Theater was clean and every seat had a great view! Tristan's illusions were fantastic and his great interaction was so fun!

I rarely give anything 5 stars but this place deserves it. Tritan Crist is an Excellent Illusionist and he has a great, fun personality. Brett Daniels who performs with him has great slight of hand. Well Well worth $40 good for all ages, clean place, free parking, beer ,wine, popcorn, candy sold onsight.
Dan G — Google review
I went to see Tristan Crist & Brett Daniels tonight for the first time and I was not let down at all. It was AMAZING! Every trick was so done perfectly and my eyes couldn’t believe what I was seeing. It was so much fun. A plus is that is very interactive and they loved involving the audience in their acts. The snacks were very fairly priced and the bathrooms were very clean. We got to meet the magicians after the show and they were so nice! I highly recommend going to this show, you will not be disappointed! I mean, who else just makes a giant helicopter appear on stage in just a few seconds?? It’s totally worth the $42. Go see this show, you will regret it if you don’t!
Emily — Google review
Absolutely fantastic show. The crew members were very polite and professional at will call, the waiting area was well maintained, and there were clear instructions on wait times, etc. The show itself was a wonderful experience! There was comedy, illusion, magic, and amazing stage lighting, and sound! The show is a work of art that I would enjoy experiencing again. The clothing style of the performers was visually appealing as well. A well put together show that was worth the time and money. No disappointment whatsoever. The owner seemed to appreciate his customers and was friendly and professional!
Moni — Google review
We had a great time for the show, we purchased tickets online and was able to pick up 1 hour before the show. They sell drinks and food to bring in. There are seats for only 100 or so people, feels small but can see from any seat. There is an intermission, if you are a larger person there may not be a good seat for you.
Heather Friedrich — Google review
I saw the Tristan Crist show this past weekend. This is the second time I have seen the show as I was in the area a year ago. The show is as good the second time as the first time. He has put in a number of new illusions so the show was fresh and as enjoyable. So if you have seen the show one time I definitely would recommend seeing it a second time. Tristan is crisp and engaging with his presentations, everyone is treated with respect. His performance skills are very well done. His assistant Shannon is stunning and is an amazing foil for Tristan. The theater is modern and comfortable. The staff is highly professional. I highly recommend.

Took my wife and 2 boys ages 7 and 8 years of age. The show was fantastic, which really makes you think of how was that's done and just very cool. My boys stay tuned througho the t entire show. Good times for all. The Magician slight of hand in between the main performances was excellent as well.

Our family had a magnificent time at the show. Amazing performance!
Nicole Riopelle — Google review
This is a show worth 3x the price! It is superb. Very family friendly. Entertaining and reminiscent of Vegas style entertainment. However, Tristan’s personality on stage is warm and engaging. His acts feature incredibly strong illusions that are unbelievably delivered. There is nothing negative to be said. Great job to Tristan and all the staff.
gina caballeros — Google review
Always fun for me to see a magic show ✨️ 😊 175 seat theater with great performances of comedy, slight of hand, & large stage illusions. As an avid fan of magic for all ages, I would definitely attend again 👍👍
Martonio Magic — Google review
First time going, loved the small venue. Tristan was so personable, funny and very good as an illusionist also had a wonderful magician some audience participation. 90 minute show thought the ticket price was very reasonable. They also come out in the lobby for pictures like a meet and greet after the show
Debbie Kummelehne — Google review
We absolutely loved the Show, and still trying to figure out how Tristan got that helicopter 🚁 on the stage...lol 🤔
Debbie Cecola — Google review
We loved tonight’s show! It was very fast paced and kept our attention throughout the entire performance. I especially liked Tristan Crist’s personality. He seems humble and was really funny. We enjoyed the acts by Bret Daniels so much also. Real professionals with high quality equipment and illusions. I would have paid three+ times the ticket price to see this show. Great venue with no wait to pick up our tickets or get snacks. It was an amazing night! Thank you.

Absolutely astonishing and a terrifically fun time for the whole family! I would drive to Lake Geneva just to watch this show. My teenage son and my 7 year old daughter had such a blast! Highly recommend.

Wow. When they say 'Vegas-style' entertainment, they aren't lying. Beautiful theatre, beautiful performers. Loved the opportunity to meet Tristan and Shannon after the performance. They're terrific people.
If you're looking for a great hike.
The North Shore portion of the path offers breathtaking views of the lake and incredible homes.
Dan Leunig — Google review
Drove up from Chicago for a little day trip in Lake Geneva. It is a cute seasonal town, but like most seasonal towns, doesn’t have a lot to do in off-season. We mainly came up to walk the lakeshore path. There are quite a few entry points, some with parking and some with parking about 1/2 mile away to access point.
Trail is not accessible for all, it is narrow at most points with uneven ground mainly due to the type of stones or pathway the owners want. It varies from dirt, rocks, flag stone, cement, synthetic wood, etc.
you do need to plan as you can’t simply exit wherever you want.
One major negative to walking this in the off season is that almost all the owners have their docks and boat lifts scattered all along the path. It’s a major major eye sore. Very disappointing. We noticed the north side had them way closer to the trail and many more of them. South side has more space and most were somewhat out of eye sight and way.
They really do interfere with you attempt at a pleasant walk. And during peak season I imagine the trial is packed and that would also make for an annoying walk.

It was a beautiful day. My English bulldog absolutely loves it. Going there I make it his day. I go shopping. He walks until he gets tired and then I put him in his stroller. We have lunch at a restaurant where we can sit outside
Cindy Kelley — Google review
Lake Geneva is a beautiful area to walk around. Beach is nice, but busy & they charge a fee for entrance. We went to the free nature preserve, and it was quiet and relaxing.
Robin Mistic — Google review
I love looking at the lake, boats and other people just having a good time with their families & pets. I feel safe there and it's a wonderful place to relax, enjoy nature and good food. Parking can be somewhat difficult but you can park in a side street and walk to park area.
NaturEli — Google review
I would recommend the west end of the trail for a comfortable walk. The east trail is more difficult and had some spots so overgrown that we were worried about what we were brushing up against. We turned back on the east trail. The west side is good for a casual walk. The east side is better suited for hikers.

Favorite place to go year round for the beauty, history, lush grounds and not to forget healthy long walks! Fall colors are gorgeous!

Awesome trail, lots of nice paths, beautiful houses to look at
Ross Wahlgren — Google review
Hiked the full 21/22 miles of shore path in one go on a beautiful day in May- so many amazing properties and gardens and mansions that were jaw-dropping. Honestly, something unique at every turn!
Trails go through private properties and each portion of the trail is kept up by the owners- so even the trail itself is unique from section to section! Loved it.
Total activity time (actual walking) was 8 hours 35 min, we took a break for lunch and a few hours later for coffee and stretched every hour. Started at 9:45 am and finished about 7:45 pm
Emily Ebeling — Google review
You could call this walk around the lake an architecture tour. The houses surrounding the lake are huge with some interesting designs. So if you want to ogle some nice houses while being close to nature and stretching your legs this is a nice route to take
Tyron Pretorius — Google review
We did about 3 miles out and back from the library NW. loved the walk and the diversity of the houses, yards and paths. Crazy big money on this lake and so amazing we can enjoy the path. Nice fall day so not many out. But can only imagine what it is like in summer if they are out there trying to enjoy their backyard. Respect their yards while you appreciate the walk. We are going to do another stint today.
Nikki — Google review
Enjoyable walking path!! Variety in scenery along the way. Each homeowner along the way is responsible for their section of path, so some path areas are much nicer than others. Be prepared to walk all types of terrain.
ShyGirl 4Life — Google review
This is a great path that circles all of Lake Geneva. There are lovely private homes to one side of the path and fabulous lake views on the other side. The trail is not completely flat but we did not encounter any steep inclines on the four miles we covered. However, we have been on this path in both Winter and Spring. We found Winter walking a bit rough. The ground cover changes as you go from grass, to gravel, to stones, to wood, etc... It is a narrow path in some places and it is necessary to step aside at times when people are going in the opposite direction. A local told us that the total path covers about 23 - 26 miles and takes about 8 - 9 hours for her family to cover in it's entirety. We're looking forward to trying it soon.
Miranda Steier — Google review
We love walking down the shore on the path in Lake Geneva. They have an area that is reserved for dogs only for them to enjoy the lake water. We enjoy watching the dogs swim and play fetch. Lots of things to do in Lake Geneva. Great town but it gets crowded on the weekends.

The Cellar Tasting experience was so fun! They take you down to their cellar room and walk you through the process. After they explain all of the wines on the menu you pick a wine flight with four choices. When your wine flight comes they also give you four chocolate truffles to pair with the wines and a cheese board. The board has three cheeses, three meats, olives, bread and butter, crackers and nuts. Once you get down to the last couple of wines they give you a full glass. Great two hours of enjoying wine and the company you came with.

Stellar Estate Winery offers an enchanting escape into the world of fine wines and exquisite flavors. Nestled amidst picturesque vineyards, the winery provides a serene setting that invites guests to unwind and indulge in sensory delights.
The wine tasting flight is amazing, featuring a selection of meticulously crafted wines that showcase the unique characteristics of each varietal. From crisp whites to robust reds, every pour is a revelation, expertly crafted to captivate the palate and ignite the senses.
But the experience doesn't stop there. The lavender cocktail, a signature creation of the winery, is a harmonious blend of sophistication and whimsy. The delicate floral notes of the lavender infuse the cocktail with a subtle elegance, while hints of citrus and herbs add depth and complexity, resulting in a drink that is as refreshing as it is memorable.
What sets Stellar Estate Winery apart is their unwavering commitment to quality and innovation. Each wine and cocktail is a testament to their passion for the craft, showcasing the best that the region has to offer.

So my wife and I were in Delavan Wisconsin in August this year for our 4-year wedding anniversary and decided to check out the Staller Estate Winery.
Some of our neighborhood friends back home had mentioned it to us and we were very interested so we stopped in to check it out.
It was a beautiful day. Sunny and 80°
We loved it. They gave us a little tour of the grounds. They've got a beautiful store inside the winery to purchase wines that you taste if you do choose.
They have all different types of wines to choose from. White red blush just to name a few. They also have wine flights, wine and chocolate flights, and dessert wine flights.
My wife and I both tried some wine flights
And also ordered a bread, meat, and cheese platter that was out of this world!
Very comfortable and cozy intimate setting.
I highly recommend it to couples! Check this place out! It's a fun little thing to do in the afternoon and reasonably priced as well. Definitely will be hitting the Staller Estate Winery back again next year.
Thank you to the staff. It was incredible!

Beautiful Winery a short distance from I-43 in southern (Richmond) Wisconsin. Nicely laid out, plenty of room inside and out. Greeted as soon as we walked in. Large selection of wines. Tasting is reasonable. The ($20) meat and cheese tray was incredible. We bought for ourselves and others. Will definitely return. Worth the stop / your time. Enjoy!

I really enjoyed this winery. It had great places to sit both inside and outside. They have a great selection of wines, cocktails, and food. The staff was very friendly, and we had an excellent time. Even the drive was pretty.
Michael Penton — Google review
This is a 3.8 star review. You are not in Napa or Sonoma, but this is a delightful little surprise, charming stop over, romantic date idea, or you name it! We happened to find it driving by and enjoyed a quick bottle while sitting by the wine yard. There were other people doing the same and enjoying some snacks and charcuterie boards. A groomed vineyard is such a beautiful view and relaxing. I can imagine what this place would look like in fall and we will be back to find out. Wines are nice, priced very reasonably. They have a big shop/bar area with all kinds of merchandise and wines. They also make cocktails. Parking is free. There are indoor tables as well as outdoors. Get a bottle and pick your seat!

We did a bachelorette wine tasting here. The whole group loved it! We loved the meat and cheese as well that came with our package. I have a peanut allergy and they were accommodating as well. Was a fun bachelorette stop!
Laura Hill — Google review
Love their tasting food plate and wine options. Worth the price. Large amount of cheese and bread. The fig jam was superb. Compared to other winery in Wisconsin which either don’t have a tasting menu or provide very little for their tasting menu, Staller is generous with its portions.
The seats outside are limited but if you get one the atmosphere is great for enjoying the wines and food you ordered which they will bring out for you.
Jacob — Google review
We had a great experience. The wine tasted good, the atmosphere was great, the little platter that we ordered. The only downside was the attitude of the lady at the counter, I guess one of the owners given that I was under the impression that it was run by a family. When I told her that they should consider installing a baby changing station in their restrooms, she just looked at me and said "I know" with a tone, completely dismissing what I said or what I had experienced minutes ago trying to change a baby diaper in my car. She could have said, "You're so right, we're so sorry about that, I promise we're working on it," and that statement alone would have made me feel better. Instead, her response made me regret tipping them 15% on what I had ordered, plus the wine that I purchased and got home with me. Lady, a baby changing station in today's world, is a necessity, is not a luxury. Please, do better.
A walking path encircles this large, tranquil lake, a popular place for swimming & water sports.
Amazing place. We really didn't know what to expect having never been to this part of the country before. We were very pleased and wonderfully surprised at this incredible setting. This is where all the rich and well off from Chicago would come and summer and or good cause, it truly is a relaxing and beautiful place.
The lake is lined with mansions from a prior era, each with their own story to tell, some can be toured. The town is small and quaint and very welcoming to visitors and guests a like. We found many great places to eat and many activities to enjoy while vacationing here.
The mail run boat is a must do for anyone coming here, was a major highlight for us, not just from watching the young runners performing superb feats of wonder to deliver the mail onto the docks from a boat that never stops, but also the wonderful history and stories told during the circling of the lake shore.
We stayed at the old Playboy resort and found it charming with its own stories to tell. Fireworks show, nice rooms, even a ski run if you happen to be there in the winter. Here you can drive out on the lake in the winter as well, although one of the stories was about how several cars went through ice one year. So be careful.

The water is super warm, however you have to pay a beach entrance fee. Jet ski is about 140/hour and 6-seater boat is 350 for 2 hours

OUR ALL TIME FAVORITE!
We have been to Stade’s farm multiple times. It’s open during summers and fall seasons. My son loves U-pick, petting zoo, farm attractions and tractors. They sell farm fresh honey, fruits, vegetables and treats. It’s a great place for all ages. Come and experience the joy by yourself

Place is great for families. The price for a wrist band going in and out of the fun area was $18 but worth it for all you can do. I was skeptical at first but it was. The parking was easy to navigate, activities were in one big area, and the biffys were well taken care of and not nasty like some places. To pick your own pumpkin it was on $8 for any size other than giant and small table size ones were only $1. If you wanted to buy straw bales they were $7 all fair price I think. My favorite thing was watching the pumpkin launcher and the hay ride out to the pumpkin patch. You can bring your own food in but do have pizza and corn dogs etc if you don't have time for packing lunches. We will definitely be back again.

Our family's favorite farm. We have been coming her for years and love. Come for strawberry picking, apple picking, pumpkin picking, and, of course, the donuts. They also have the best strawberry slushy. Take the trip to this farm you won't regret it.

It was small strawberries, but very, super sweet! I arrived to farm on Tuesday around 10 am. It was already so many people there. Overall I got good experience)))

THE BEST apple picking in the area! amazing place that is clean, well kept, well staffed, great prices with better variety and quality of produce than other orchards. We went on Saturday in the height of the season and got through quickly with no problems. Their apple cider donuts cannot be beat, we got some that were still warm!
The market also has great variety of products from the farm and other local businesses.
According to boyfriend: would rate 6/5 if possible

It's my first time at Stades in McHenry. It was the first day of picking apples named zestar. They were very tart, apparently good for making pies. We ended up picking a few of those and another apple Maier very sweet and delicious. They have a minimum of $6 to pick veggies, sunflowers, or tomatoes. $10 minimum to pick apples. The food is included in whatever size box or bag you purchase. We chose apples in a peck for $30. Well....to walk to where you had to pick the apples was very far. And in the sun that's quite a walk. We were exhausted. A peck was about 9 pounds. They sell the zestar for $1.99 a pound so in the store near the picking orchard .....so we got ripped off. The sunflower section was almost all gone to seed. We managed to get a couple of good pictures of sunflower plants but believe me when I say only a few sunflower plants were decent. But we could say we picked our apples ourselves for the extra $10 instead of buying them in the store. 🌻The store itself, most items overpriced. Would I go again? Probably not there are better apple and sunflower farms in Illinois and Wisconsin. It was a beautiful day for a drive and that we enjoyed. The Maier apples were delicious and that was a plus as well.

This farm & market has everything for Fall fun! You can pick your own pumpkin, pick flowers (seasonal), buy potted mums, buy farm fresh made products like pies, taffy apples, kettle corn and apple cider donuts (my favorite!). They had rides for the kids and hot foods like corn on the cob (the best I ever had), ribs, pulled pork, and more. Staff were all very helpful and friendly! Craig drove our wagon out to the pumpkin patch, waited until we got our pumpkin and drove us safely back to the front where everything else is. I will return!
UPDATE: I did visit again this year, and it was just as awesome as last year! Love the apple cider donuts!

We had so much fun strawberry picking. Most other produce wasn't quite ripe enough to pick but the starberries were DELICIOUS. Their store inside the barn was also so cute and they had a wide variety of different goods, seasonal decor, fresh meats and cheeses. We can't wait to come back!

Stade's Farm has long been a cherished destination for my family. Over the years, we've engaged in apple-picking, explored their indoor market, and indulged in their delectable ice cream offerings every autumn. Their apple-picking prices are in line with other orchards, but for those who'd rather skip the activity, the indoor store offers pre-picked apples at a more affordable rate. Additionally, their market boasts a range of homemade products from local artisans. A visit is highly recommended.

Stade's Farm is a great place to have a family fun day. You can also do a date event! The kids loved all of it and we.coukdnt stop my grandson from putting more strawberries in his mouth instead of his bucket. There's nothing better than a vine picked strawberry in your mouth! Absolutely delicious! There's also rows of sunflowers to pick, different veggies, depending on the season, raspberries. They have a train ride for the little ones, too. It's cute and they enjoy it. The food there is pretty good, too. And there's an ice cream house that also sells coffee.
The staff are great! Definitely good customer service.
Stades also has parked tractors for the kids to climb on. Just a coolplace,so much to do other than just pick fruits and veggies
The farm store is way better than I could've imagined. Lots of.gifyable items or things for your own home. We bought bloody Mary mixers for cocktails, amazing! Overall, this is a must do for families!

Overall it was a great experience/activity with my family and friends. The farm was well organized. The staff was friendly. Parking was very convenient. You choose your basket at the entrance. $6 for the smallest basket 🧺 1-quart. You should take at least the smallest basket per person. The biggest one, the red basket (4-quart), was $18, and it was worth it. Easy to go to strawberries to pick up after entrance. Raspberry was also ready. Everything was tasty. We loved there.
Also, you can use train 🚂 for $5 and try their delicious donuts 🍩 ($8.5 half dozen) with apple cider and strawberry.
Their website is very informative; you can find more updated information.
We can’t wait to go again for the vegetables, including tomato🍅 and pepper🌶.
20 acres of landscaped paths & gardens, with tours of English-, Japanese- & French-themed areas.
This is a true gem to visit. Only an hour out of Milwaukee and *so* worth the drive. An immersion into nature and a contemplative haven. Beautifully designed and meticulously maintained garden vignettes, meandering paths, ponds, bridges, waterfalls and plenty of seating along the way—thanks to colorful Adirondack chairs thoughtfully place at the waters edge and benches throughout the gardens inscribed with inspirational quotes. I am looking forward to going back. Soon.

We love Rotary Garden! We love going there in warm weather but the best thing to see is the light display!! Every year they add more lights; they’re over one million lights! It can get really busy for the lights on weekends, especially when it gets closer to Christmas. We like to go early in December, right when they open at 4:30. We hang out near the entrance until it gets darker and then we enjoy the lights! They don’t allow anyone in the building right now because of covid, and there aren’t any tickets available for purchase on site. There are port-a-potties at the entrance and halfway through the route. There are limited concessions available for purchase on some nights. The route through the garden is one-way and directs you through all the decorated gardens and displays. There are several spots set up for family photos. It’s a fantastic spot to visit!

First time visiting the Janesville Rotary Gardens (7.21.2023). It was just beautiful. Everything is laid out nicely and plenty of benches to relax and take in the gardens at your leisure! Staff is very friendly and greet you with a smile. Happy to answer questions or share their knowledge of the gardens.
The gift shop had so many unique items, couldn't walk out without buying something.
We brought our own lunch to enjoy on the terrace overlooking a fountain and the children's garden. Nice morning spent, will definitely go back again.

This place is absolutely magical! It is so astounding during the regular season to walk through, but Christmas time is magical. You might have to wait in line to get in and buy tickets ahead of time online, and may have to drive a little bit to get there. It is worth it, they do a fantastic job with the lights.

What a pleasant surprise. Visiting the gardens is worth the trip. I took tons of pictures as every view was stunning. I was needing to fill sometime while others I was vacationing with did a strenuous hike. I think I got the long end of the stick.... gift shop was basic but prices reasonable and I purchased 2 items.

Visitng this late in the season comes with its own challenges of things being in bloom or not. But these gardens were very relaxing to stroll through even when things weren't in bloom. Look out for the hidden gems and take a break from the hassle and bustle of everyday life. Bonus: Chicago Botanical Garden Holders can use their annual passes to gain free entry to the gardens, so make sure to check out the gift shop before you leave!

As part of The Come Back Chorus, we got to sing there at a Christmas Party! It was a very nice event with catered food from The Italian House.
The Gardens are beautifully lit with colored lights.
I've walked the gardens during the day and it's such a peaceful, meditative experience. Flowers, trees and plants. . .with many inspirational benches to rest on and ponder.

Beautiful place to take a stroll! Dahlias were in full bloom when we went. Awesome little gem in Janesville! If you go in to the visitor center, by the bathrooms, there's a really cool group of historical pictures showing the transformation of the site. I really think that this historical stuff should be less hidden. It truly shows you how much difference gardens can improve the ordinary.

Rotary Botanical Gardens is stunning.
The staff last Saturday was friendly and helpful. They joyfully took the time to teach us about the flowers we had questions about. 🩷 There's lots of love in those gardens, and it feels amazing to slowly walk through and enjoy all of the sights and smells. May is a beautiful time of year to waltz through. 🩷

Hidden gem of Janesville! The grounds are immaculate and well-cared-for the staff is amazing the gift shop is unmatched! I can't say enough about How wonderful this place is! The children's garden chooses a children's book every year and tells the story in flowers and Dioramas! Mind-blowingly cool. Just lovely! Definitely headed back for their Christmas light show that starts in November

When I think of my favorite places to visit, this is one of them! Not a huge place, but every corner contains beauty of nature! Very quiet and peaceful setting with nice walking paths, many benches to sit and relax, photographer's dream! Made up of several themed areas into one large setting containing art of statues, ponds, flowers, trees and ferns, koi pond and lots of birds and small creatures. Easy parking, gift shop and fair admission prices. Great place for weddings and receptions. Highly recommend!

This was our first year to look at the lights for the botanical garden light show. We enjoyed the different sections that were set up to take pictures. Small concession stands and a beautiful gazebo. As long as your children can stand the weather it is worth the walk. Some places did seem a little rushed just because the amount of people on certain trails. Almost turned into herding cattle. The parking lot was unbelievably full and parking was not well lit and we ended up parking on a busy road with little children. I really want to go back in the summer to see all of the beautiful landscaping and foliage.

We traveled 3.5 hours to attend the light show this year, and it was amazing. Parking is nuts. We had quite a walk, and the line was long but definitely worth it. We will be going back next year.

Craft brewery featuring a tasting room, gifts, self-guided tours & reservation-only hard hat tours.
This is one of the best breweries we have ever visited. The buildings are so beautiful with the Swiss theme. The outside tasting area is so relaxing, & beautiful! You good stay there all day and enjoy the great tasting beer while relaxing & enjoying nature. Clean & beautiful. Looking forward when they can be fully open on the weekends for more people to enjoy. The gift shop has something for everyone. Love the home of the Spotted cow! Thank you to all the staff who make it a great place to visit.

For years I have been giving people money if the get to visit here. Well now it's my turn! I loved it here! The self tour was fun as it allowed us to see everything at our own pace. Had a day off so I went to the New Glarus Brewing Company, I wanted to come here before I left Wisconsin, really kool place. Unfortunately I didn’t get a chance to take the tour but I bought some really nice souvenirs to take back with me, which I thought were reasonably priced, also taking a case of spotted cow back with me. 👍🏽

One of my favorite breweries of all time. I’ve been drinking their beer for 2 decades. We finally made a trip to visit the brewery and were not disappointed. The tour and tastings were great. I wish I could have bought more souvenirs to bring home. We had a great visit and will come back any time we return to the area.

It's one of my favorite breweries ever. Have been here twice in my life, and both have been the capstone of amazing road trips to get here. The tour is fun, people are friendly, and the beer is downright amazing. Amazing enough, I accidently told my coworkers where I was going, and well, the cases ordered almost didn't fit in the car.

So glad we FINALLY made it down to New Glarus to see the brewery and have some fresh and tasty brews! So cool to be able to walk the grounds at our own pace. We did not do the guided tour but I'm sure it would be amazing! Had some snow falling when we were there which made for awesome pictures of the exterior of the building as well! Highly highly recommend! Note: brewery only open during the weekday

Fun brewery to tour and a great gift shop. Unfortunately they are currently not open on the weekends. The beer garden is really nice. You have to buy tickets for beers. They have some common stuff on tap but also some you don't see often. With your first beer you get a souvenir glass and a drink token for one of the fun local bars so if you plan on stopping in town it's a great deal.

Amazing Brewery, with an Amazing story!
Gorgeous property, with a great experience!
Self guided tour was really great with plenty of information to make it a great experience. There’s a video about the entire history of the brewery, the family, and how “Spotted Cow” came to be. ADA accessible. Plenty of restrooms so you can take your time and be casual on your time here. There’s a sampling area, where you can buy a 3 drink sampler, or your favorite pint. You get to keep your glass, and a free drink token to enjoy a beer at participating locations. Gift shop with a great selection of local items, including Bobs B*tchin BBQ sauce! Absolutely love this brewery!!

Rock Cut State Park, located just a short drive from downtown Rockford, is a sprawling 3,092-acre outdoor paradise. The park offers a wide range of activities throughout the year, including hiking and horseback riding trails, camping facilities, and two picturesque lakes for fishing and boating. With over 40 miles of hiking trails that cater to all skill levels and various seasonal landscapes to explore, it's an ideal destination for nature enthusiasts.
Great place to enjoy nature! A gem located in N. IL. Pierce Lake offers fishing, boating, kayaking and sailing. Very nice boat ramp. The lake does get a lot of fishing pressure so the catching can be tough. The park offers nice clean well maintained camping spots but it can get very busy in the summer.

This is a very huge state park. There’s a lot of different things to do. There’s many different nature trails that lead to many different areas of this park. There is a lot of picnic areas and yes, there is a designated picnic area but there’s also picnic areas picnic tables that are on different trails and pass and some of them are designated right off of the water. They have a concession area and a café Has not been opened yet as far as I’ve been there, but once it is open, I will comment and leave a review on the café concession part. They have rentals for canoeing, but the couple times that I’ve been there they were not letting people rent because of the wins and the temperature outside in the water, which tells me that they are concerned for the customer safety, and the safety comes first before their pockets, which I admire, and I respect Safety first right for the public. They have a playground and I always see Minnie dogs being walked with their owners. It’s a very friendly family orientated place. I’ve never seen anybody have any altercations or any type of negativity at all. I would highly recommend this place to individuals and families, but I do see many signs that say do not get locked in. They have different closing times I would just keep an eye on that. Make sure that you don’t get locked into the park after hours.

I would love to camp here sometime, has well maintained trails. Lots of birds on the water, it's beautiful no matter which side of the park you're on. All pets must be leashed and the park closes at 10pm if you don't want to be locked in.

Enjoyed our day trip. Spend most of the time kayaking on Pierce Lake, Olson Lake was closed at the time. Park offers many outdoor activities: biking, horse riding( there is a separate equestrian area on the west side of the park), kayaking, boat riding, fishing and many others. We brought our own kayaks, and there is no charge to launch it. There is rental facility as well, where you can rent canoe/kayak. Enjoy watching wildlife, you have come to the right place. Come, relax and admire the beaty of nature at the state park of Northern Illinois, you will not regret it!

One of my favorite state parks in the chicago area, this is located right in Rockford but is one of the largest state parks in Illinois. A huge campground with five different areas, lots of well maintained trails, boat rentals available, tons of fishing opportunities, two stores a camp store and a bait/fish store, beautiful forests and prairie areas, and a small cafe serving up breakfast lunch and ice cream. An amazing way to get away close to home, I highly recommend this state park!
Susannah Ball — Google review
There are a lot of trails to explore should you choose. There are also paddle boats, kayaks, canoes, and row boats that you can rent. Near the boat launch there is a concession stand that has a nice menu for mid hike snacks or lunch.
Before starting a trail be sure to check the signage. There are a ton of trails, so before you start make sure to plan a route and stick to it. If you do get lost, most trails intersect roads where you can better orient yourself.
A nice place to spend the day in the stateline.

The Eagle cabin is great and private. It has two rooms that have overhead lights, ceiling fans, outlets, and heaters for cooler nights. The rear bedroom has two bunk beds and the front room has a double bed with a 4 person table and six stacking chairs. Water and pit toilets are a short walk away. You'll enjoy amazing panoramic views of the lake and woods. If you're lucky the rafter of turkeys will stop by and graze on the hillside adjacent to the cabin. If you get a chance to stay here, you won't be disappointed.

Had to take advantage of the amazing weather to check this place out. Parked in the parking lot by the lake and explored around the area. I didn't realize it at the time but the area I was in was a dog training area, which is adorable. Doggos welcome there! I enjoyed how wide the trails were and how secluded it could feel at times. I saw a lot of beautiful wildflowers and there were plenty of opportunities for birding. Plenty of parking, rest benches, and picnic tables.

I've been going to rock cut since I was a kid. Camping, hiking, boating, fishing, it has it all. I personally do mostly fishing and kayaking (calm waters and decent size fish). If you like a more laid back experience, I recommend hiking. They also have quite the variety of wild fruits and herbs, don't forget about the morals mushrooms (I think I spelled that right). Baumgartner's Cheese Store & Tavern is a historic establishment that has been serving customers since 1931. It offers a delightful combination of a cheese and specialty food shop along with a charming tavern where visitors can enjoy local beers and pub-style meals. The cozy interior features wooden booths, while the outdoor patio provides an ideal setting for enjoying cold beer during the summer months. The tavern is renowned for its wide selection of gourmet cheeses, which are featured in their popular rye bread sandwiches.
Stopped in to try their new menu item of burgers which we've heard so many positive things about. Delicious! Hand formed patties, served with Mrs Mike's potato chips, and several selections of what I call uniquely named beers to go with your meal! Definitely a win! Great service as always!

A portal back to 1940 depression era Midwest. Similar to the "No Fuss" sandwiches that your grandma would be serving up any weekday lunch. Scratches an itch that I didn't know I had. If you are anywhere in the area, make a point to stop.

Nice and cozy tavern known for their wide selection of cheese. The place is known for rye bread sandwiches pack with gourmet cheese and deli of choice. Which pair perfectly with their award winning chilies! Also don’t miss out on the mustard honey that they have in a squeeze bottle on the table, a true game changer!
The atmosphere indoors interior is cozy with wooden booths, while the outdoor patio is perfect for cold beer in the summer.
Additionally you can also just walk up to the counter and buy the locally made cheeses as well. The staff was super friendly when I asked her to cut the limburger log, rewrap them and pack it separately for me!

A friend recommended this place and we were not disappointed. The service was good but the food was great.
I can't say enough about our food .. good cheese is so satisfying. It was a cold day in January 2023 we had the tomatoes basil bisque warm thick and tasty. Tuna melt topped with slice of tomatoes and cheddar, pastrami and Swiss on rye served with extra cheese and a pickle 😋

A kitschy Wisconsin institution! Truthfully this is a glorified bar but it’s certainly a unique institution. The beer selection is good, featuring about 20 rotating taps, featuring Wisconsin breweries. They also had a decent selection of non-alcoholic beers (although that may have been supplemented for dry January). The menu is simple, featuring “room-temperature sandwiches” (their words!) with Wisconsin cheeses and meats. They also have several daily soups. The real selling-point is the ambiance. The walls are covered in interesting artwork, the chairs are handmade and the environment is cozy. If you want a great Wisconsin experience, this is a top destination and won’t disappoint!

Lovely Wisconsin Historical Society site. It's a Cornish mining settlement from the 1800s (one of the mines is across the street and you can walk the trails). In the 1930s two men bought and preserved many of the buildings. Admission price gets you a guided tour..ours lasted about 45 minutes. There are a couple buildings you can visit on your own. Nice little gift shop as well. Bottled water is available to purchase and there is a drinking fountain by the restrooms too. Parking area is in a lot kitty corner to the site. The whole Mineral Point area is rich with history and there are so many beautiful historic buildings.

Well worth the $10 admission. Our guide told us wonderful stories of the area and historical buildings for an hour while going in and out of several historic buildings.

The small museum includes several small buildings centered around a former restaurant open ed by a couple of guys partially to save old buildings from mining times. We went for a tour, and the story about how a "startup" restaurant survived in the middle of nowhere is interesting, though there are no very special artifacts. There was a knowledgeable person in the group who asked questions and sometimes was giving answers more interesting than the guide, and it was a very big plus.

We visited on a Saturday in Sept 2022. The buildings are amazing! Made by the miners and masons in the area, and later restored by two visionary men, they are now open for visitors. The stonework is beautiful, and the upper buildings are rustic and historic. We were the only two folks on our tour, which was led by a friendly, personable, and knowledgeable young man -- he loved history and it really showed thru! Mineral Point has lot of other stuff to do, but this was the highlight for us. We are members of the Wisconsin State Historical Society, so admission was free. Recommended!

A beautiful and amazing place! Remember to practice Leave No Trace! It's not a trail, but it is a historical site that is proudly cared for by volunteers and employees alike. So, it's important to use the appropriate receptacles for your garbage rather than leaving them on the ground for someone else to deal with.

Performance, cabaret & live music venue with event space & a full bar serving housemade sangria.
We went to the Arcada theater on May 7th 2022 to see the show with Sumo Cyco, Blacktop Mojo and Buckcherry. The theater is located in downtown St. Charles and it's a pretty small venue. I believe it has about 900 seats. I had purchased two handicapped seats and two regular seats since I am in a wheelchair. The staff could not have been anymore friendly. They were awesome! They brought me to my seat which was actually a very good seat but it was completely opposite side of the theater as my two sons. So one of the ushers asked security if it was okay that my husband and I went to join my sons on the other side of the theater so we can experience our favorite group Blacktop Mojo together. They were so kind to allow it and got me right on the edge of the stage. So not only did I get to see my sons but I also got to see the show right up front! Everybody, the whole night was very accommodating to me and bent over backwards to make sure that I was comfortable. The show was great. We'd actually saw the exact show the week before at a different venue, The Des Plaines theater, which I believed is owned by the same corporation. However, the sound and atmosphere at the Arcada was actually better. We had a great night and I would not hesitate to get to see another show there

I just wanted to say thank you to Ron Onesti and the entire Arcada staff for allowing us to shoot our engagement session at the Arcada theater. Your venue is absolutely stunning and provided the perfect backdrop for the photos. We are so grateful for your generosity and hospitality.

Not a bad seat in the house. Sound was good. Seats were a bit old and uncomfortable, but not horribly so. Staff was super friendly and efficient! Host was great and patriotic! Show (Bee Gees Gold) was great. Will return. Alread set to see show in sister Des Plaines venue.

What a great venue! Sound quality was good, nice staff and crowd. Easy to access the seats. Wish we had tried the restaurant upstairs. We did have a drink at the speak easy. Very cool vibe!

Applause abounds for a fun variety of entertainment. Lobby area gets congested prior to show time. They could use a better system in that regard. Seems to be a continuous plan to update and upkeep this roaring 20's theater. Kudos for trying to be timely and accommodating. Main center floor seating uses standard chairs, while the remaining seats utilize theater flip down seats. Acoustics/sound quality needs improvement. The instruments are loud and drown out the singer(s). Instrumental sound should compliment, not compete with the song performer. Visit their restaurant upstairs after a mid day show or choose from many area restaurants within walking distance.

Wonderful place. Saw ACCEPT here. First floor theater, bars etc. Second floor has fantastic bars, beautiful unisex bathrooms, wonderful decor. Third floor is a Speakeasy, complete with 30s style waiter stuff. I love this place

This is my new favorite venue. I see bands all the time but the sound here and a staff was exceptional. We had a great time watching a band called hairball and a band called gooroos. Highly recommend checking this place out. You won't be disappointed. Not to mention their lineup is nothing but All Star all year.

The place is ran Perfectly. Everyone who works there are friendly and courteous. We love going there. We see 6-10 shows yearly. We joined the VIP group. VIP status is a must, if you can. Thanks Ron!

Great Venue! Saw Everclear and Capra Brothers! Sound is Great! Drinks reasonably priced. Beautiful inside and out. Loved the owner came out did star spangled banner. Support and love for our Service members and country makes us definitely wanna come back. Blessed to have a venue like this in IL. St. Charles has a lot of charm in downtown. Wife and I had a blast!

I attended a concert and the sound was excellent. I highly reccomend this venue. Parking is a bit tight. On the third floor above the theatre is a very authentic Speakeasy. The owners have done a great job of setting this up.

We visited for a murder mystery dinner which included dinner and the murder mystery. It was my first time there. The dinner was delicious even thought they must have pumped out a ton of food quickly. Their was not an open seat in the restaurant due to the event but there was a man singing Frank Sinatra during our meal. The decor was fun and tasteful.
We then headed down to the theater for our murder mystery portion. This was a lot of fun as well and very interactive. There were staff who helped guide us but largely audience driven and participation. What a wonderful night!

One of the best venues in the western suburbs. Staff is always friendly and this is a great place to bring kids for a concert. The sound is good, but not too loud (Although I would still recommend ear plugs). Visit the restaurant upstairs for a one-of-a-kind speakeasy experience. I have been to three shows here and keep it on my list to catch a show if they have an artist that I am interested in on their schedule.

8/14/23 Ted Nugent with Hillbilly Vegas. Awsome show!
A few gripes, but before I get to that I want to say that I live in the area and have been coming for many years.
Showed up right after work and had a 2" folder I carry every day that security made such a huge deal out of you'd think I came in with a ninja sword. Ok fine, its Ron's joynt.. I will respect and comply. So I walked the 3 blocks and put my 'weapon' in my car. Now mind you Im a 54 year old cracker of 5'6". Not a huge threat..but ok I will play along.
I go through security once more and Im in line to buy a $10 draft..guess what? In front of me is a whole crew of local 1%'er bikers in full cuts and all are sporting huge folding and fixed blade knives. REALLY!#$&?
Ive got no issues with bikers, this MC frequents a number of local places Ive been to. I do have an issue with HYPROCRACY and SELECTIVE ENFORCEMENT of the rules.
Also see pix of large ceiling tile thats about ready to fall down on some unsuspecting patrons..say lawsuit.

Beautiful venue! I saw Matteo Bocelli which was phenomenal! Seating inside and very accessible as it’s located on the first floor with no stairs. Balcony seating available as well for some events. The staff is kind and attentive. It is a very intimate venue which I enjoy for music. Lots of restaurants nearby. Free garages and multiple parking lots nearby. Located right downtown St. Charles.

Great night with SmithField opening for Josh Turner! Josh and his band put on a great show!
SmithField was entertaining, have beautiful voices, and sang a mix of their own as well as the songs of other country artists.
Josh and the band appeared to be having as much fun as we were. They sang a great mix of songs, and ended with some true favorites! A great evening in this small, unique venue.
It is always nice to see Ron Onesti welcome the audience, and have the live performance started with the National Anthem! A great tradition I hope never ends!

LOVED LOVED LOVED this place! I came to see The Liverpool Legends- a Beatles tribute band- and had such an amazing time! I loved how spacious and warm and welcoming the main theatre felt. I liked the worn-out feel mixed with modern media like so many memories were made here. Seeing Priscilla Presley was surreal, and even more so seeing so many people “Come Together” and share a once in a life time experience going back in time to see The Beatles.

Fun theater that has been given some loving (still needs some help with cleaning - do not check out the floral section up in the balcony 🤢)
The entertainment group does a great job bringing in a variety of talent/ shows - fun for all.
The people were nice, the drinks were great. The tour was fun and Jon was both hilarious and informative. It's certainly worth a visit! The rye was my favorite, and there wasn't anything I've tried that I disliked. That said, I haven't tried their vodka.

Awesome visit to Whiskey Acres. The tour by Phoebe was excellent, so informative and very fun, I've had several of their bourbons over the past couple years including the BiB Bourbon, the Maple aged whiskey, the Blue Popcorn Bourbon and the glass corn bourbon but today was my first time visiting the distillery and adding their BiB Rye to my tastings. Why did I wait so long 😊

Whiskey and Illinois, May not the first thing which comes to mind. But trust me it goes well together here at whiskey acres. These guys know what they are doing. Their whiskey is exceptionally. If you’re close (or far) and love whiskey go for it.
They also offering tours including tasting. Well worth the time if you want to learn their way of distilling.

Such a cool fun place! Wish we lived closer or we would be here every weekend. Such amazing staff, so nice, knowledgeable and friendly! They go above & beyond! Great whiskeys & drinks, love that they do all of it from top to bottom. It truly is a farm family making a great product. Brings the feels of my own families’ farms. They have such a cute atmosphere & we only went during a snow storm, so can only get better from here with better weather. The tour was so much fun & in depth, learned so much. Kids & dogs welcome & they have multiple fun events there too!

We had a great experience here. Started off with a really cool venue, then we took a very informative tour on how they make whiskey and the differences between the types of whiskey. At the end we got the sample and keep the shot glasses. They had good live music and the cocktail drinks were really tasty. You'll definitely be back in the summer. I'm told they have food trucks that come throughout the summer
Weather-permitting fun with slides & a wave pool, plus a lazy river, stage & snacks.
Great, clean water park.
It seems like they really take care of the grounds and making sure locker rooms and bathrooms are clean.
Plenty of life guards in every pool.
If you plan on coming bring your items in a clear plastic bag since any other bags are not allowed (aside from your purse).
They do sell clear plastic bags at the parking gate for $10 in case you need one.
Lockers are $12 and $15. If you get there around 4, you really don’t need one, just find an empty chair and you will be fine. I rented the $15 and ended up not using it since I could not find the location and I did not want to wast time looking for it.
Lots of food options. Outside drinks and food is not allowed.

We reserved a King cabana, which ended up being a great decision. The day we went it was 100 degrees outside and it was a Monday holiday. The park was crowded! So many lines.
That cabana comes with a what I would call a concierge. Alexa (not the AI version) came to check on us a half dozen times throughout the day and refilled our water bottles (we brought them with us). Also, we were able to order food off the app and Alexa brought it to us! So we were able to avoid the food lines. The cabana had 6 lounge chairs and two dining tables with 8 chairs total. Ours was very private and overlooked the lazy river.
The park was so clean. Like Disney level clean. And the life guards seemed diligent. Since we overlooked the lazy river and a lifeguard, I saw how often they switched out (to prevent fatigue- something you DO NOT want in a lifeguard who is constantly looking for someone drowning) and how focused they were. The service we received was exceptional; impressive considering I only interfaced with teenagers and young adults.
The only criticism is the food sucks. The food not only sucks in quality and taste, but it sucks in terms of access. The one restaurant is only open from 11:30-3. And the ice cream place opens at 2pm. There are other small places that sell nuts and popcorn too, but one restaurant. Because of the lack of staff (assuming this is because everyone is short on staff) the was only one person working a register at each place. And the lines were so so long. Like over an hour to get ice cream. Be prepared for this.
I loved this place and can’t wait to go back!

it is advisable to buy tickets in advance. parking will then be cheaper. The water park is big, nice and clean. bags are carefully checked at the entrance so that visitors do not carry any food. a good place for children, children have fun here. it's not so good for adults, because to go down the slide, you have to wait in line for 30-60 minutes. this is a very, very big minus. but everything is fine

My family spent half the day here. The kids had a blast. There were many food options but be mindful of the times each restaurant opens. Get there early to secure seating. We purchased our tickets online as well as out parking and the process was very easy to use.
Make sure you read all of the rules on the site. They have a ton but they are in place for a reason. Remember to have a clear bag for your items and don’t forget the sunscreen.
Not all members of our party played in the water park. Some say during our time there. There could definitely be more shade throughout the park. But overall we had a break time

Had a blast with the family & close friends!! The lazy River needs some slight improvements, such as more tubes & more water shooting features. It’s a bit shallow too but perfect for families with little ones! The heat index was 106 & this time of year is the final hooray before school starts so it was PACKED! Preferred parking ($20) came in handy to say the least. The cabana ($200) was cute, u don’t have to fight for seating & it came with complimentary waters in a bucket of ice with various fruits & cookies at NO XTRA COST! A pleasant welcoming surprise! It also had sturdy seating & laying out chairs, it was along the lazy River so it was perfect as u can see people floating by! It was also right by Joeys Pizza Place (total fan of Home Run Inn). Slices ran about $8 & we got 3 refillable souvenir cups at $10 each with $1 refills & free ice and water! Bargain when it’s hot! Since lines were long hit 2 slides but waited about an hour each time to get on, the wave pool was packed, had more water fun at the kids section! Had lots of goodies to eat but the lines were much too long. This place should really expand!! Everything is within walking distance , park mapped out well! Workers were kind and friendly. Life guards professional & everywhere! Suggest that they do a cleaning of the pools throughout the day…lots of floating bandages and clumps of hair late in the day!! U MUST STICK TO POLICY OF ITEMS THAT ARE ALLOWED AT PARK! VERY STRICT! And that is okay as it keeps it customers safe!! Thank u Raging Rivers for the memories! Quick update: when packed waters really get a bit nasty….bandaids and even clumps of hair. Park should do a quick sweep of the wave pool at least!

I love this water park! It's always so clean and well maintained! There are a lot of slides for all ages! A wave pool, and a few separate areas for your toddlers and bigger kids! No food or drinks allowed. You can exit the park and return if you wish to take food and eat in the parking lot. There are some picnic tables thruout the parking lot. Very convenient. But there is also a variety of concessions to choose from to eat.. when you go you must have all your items in a clear bag to enter. Very clean bathrooms, a lot of life guards and nice staff. Parking is free, or pay to be a little closer to the entrance. Lockers are available for about 10/15 dollars. My family has spent the entire day here everytime we come! I definitely recommend this beautiful Waterpark!

The park was fun for the young people and almost relaxing for the older people. I rented two cabanas but I really could have just used one. The kids rarely were in the cabana. The fruit and water in each cabana was a nice touch. My family really enjoyed the trip to yorkville and we stayed until the park closed. The staff and life guards were on their job but friendly most of the time.

Too long to get in, management not so good. It will take a few hours to get in to entrance during peak time. Has only one counter to scan and let people in who have tickets reserved and printed.
Have more ticket scanners at entrance to decrease entry time.
Park is good, nice slides good for kids for one day.
arif ali meer — Google review
I had a fantastic time at the water park! The slides were thrilling, everywhere cleaned . This park is really huge, and the people distributes the crowd evenly throughout the park. The average wait time for rides was around 20-30 minutes (we visited on a Monday from morning until closing time).
They do make you pour out your drinking water from bottles, but there are filtered drinking water fountains available. They require bags to be transparent . I saw a couple of families being turned away because of regular bags, and they had to return to their cars to leave the bags there.
I read some reviews about terrible food and long lines for it, so we brought our own food in a cooler and took breaks to eat our packed lunch by the car. They have one or two bench tables around parking
Overall, we had a blast! We tried all the slides and had a memorable experience. I can't wait to visit again!
P.S. Beach chairs go like hotcakes, so be prepared to arrive early if you want a spot in the shade. If it's not a priority for you, there are plenty of sunny spots deeper into the park that were almost unoccupied. Enjoy your time at the water park!

Awesome Sunday with our family at the park. Super clean. Staff was amazing. Concessions were great and super affordable. Rides were thrilling and wait times were not long. Our young boys concurred there fears and road the boomerang multiple times.
Adam Lebin — Google review
The wave pool is amazing. You will enjoy the Cyclone ride. We felt like the big funnel ride I think named boomerang was super exciting although my daughter got some water in her mouth from screaming so loud. I was screaming louder and seemed to NOT get water in my mouth (my daughter was fine). You will find the lazy river the best thing to do to start your day at the park. Maybe end it too. Very relaxing. Nothing to worry about. Speaking of worrying… take advantage of the lockers. They are well worth the 9 dollars to keep your personal items such as wallet and phones safe from theft. Get there at opening time or 10 minutes early. Parking will always have a wait time seemingly but the line to get in will be 10 times worse if you wait too long after they open to have a ball.
Robert Carter — Google review
All in all, I had a great time at the park. The nickel and dimming me is one of the biggest problems I had. Buying online is beneficial for the park to move customers through faster, and offering a discount for doing so is good business. But when you get charged a convenience fee for buying online to save time, it's shady. Saved 5 bucks buying online and had to give 1.50 back for a convenience fee.
Buying parking ahead of time saved 10 bucks but had to give a dollar back. Prepay for a locker save 10 more buck but had to give another dollar back for that convenience fee. The convenience fees were more than the taxes, I find this to be a slap in the face and a poor business practice.
Online said the lazy river was closed, so I know what to expect. But half the park was closed for the first 2hrs and the lines on the slides that were open were long. Had to wait in line for tubs and mats before getting into the line for the slide. Waiting an hour to get in, an hour wait for each of the first 2 slides until they opened the whole park killed have my day. The body slides never opened, so that was 3 slides down on top of the lazy river. I would have to real thing long and hard if I want to give them another chance.

I took my 12yo son and his 5 besties for a GREAT day of nonstop water fun. While they ran the park, I chilled in a cabana (worth it if you’re going to be there the whole day!) and took a few laps in a Lazy River. The whole place is decently clean and the workers are attentive. We ordered a stack of burgers, buckets of fries and drinks for lunch. It was delivered quick and was all tasty (don’t expect gourmet). Be aware that they mean what they say about clear bags! The music is fun and inspiring!

Raging Waves is a ton of fun for everybody. Sometimes it can be very busy which results in long wait times. But usually it’s an absolute blast. The lazy river is awesome as well as the wave pool! Food is reasonably priced and great quality. I wouldn’t hesitate to come back to Raging Waves! Parking is around $20 and you are able to go out to your car and have a picnic if you would like they have some nice picnic tables out there and they allow re-entry into the park with a stamp on your hand!

Organized. Clean. Fun. I didn't have my ticket because I arrived at the park after my group. I walked up to the ticket counter and they pulled up a record of my ticket and let me in the park with no hassle. Kids and parents were everywhere and everyone seemed to be having a great time. There are food kiosks throughout the park and lots of water activities to choose from. The group I was in rented a cabana. You can order food during the 1st few hours and they'll bring it to your cabana. Afterwards you'll have to go wait in the lines. You can scan a code on the tables for a menu, and place the order online. The servers were super sweet and diligent. We were in cabana 14, by the wave pool. Great location, away from people walking back and forth, but close enough to go jump in the water when desired. Great place for kids.
Lovely place to watch trains pass by. Very busy location, with potential to see several trains in a short period of time.

It's so great to have a park like this, that I am torn writing this review. On the one hand, this is a really unique resource. It was clean, and all the other patrons were nice. It's also a unique location with 2 railroads crossing each other. On the other hand there was a lot of construction (yes, to make the park nicer, so a visit in the future will be better), but worse, there was very little train traffic. Saw like 3 trains in (I think) 2 hours, one of which we saw at JB tower and passed in the car in the way here. For me personally, a lot of "action" is 1 train every 10 minutes on average. I would say if you are in the area, and you like trains, it's worth a stop.

There is a little visitor center which is nice.
Since there is no schedule for when freight trains are coming through you either have to be lucky - or you need to bring some time.

2023:
Free admission,free parking.
Souvenir stand/bathrooms open year round (hours vary)
Lots of benches and picnic tables,
Gazebo gives shade from the sun and shelter from the rain.
BNSF/UP scanner frequencies posted, but there's also a speaker which broadcasts scanner info in real time, if you don't have one.
Great place for railfanning.
Watch the kids; this isn't a park or playground....if you have "enthusiastic railfans" in your group, maybe educate them on photo-line etiquette so they're not running around in front of other people's cameras.
Remember also, there's live public web-cams so watch what you say and do.
2018: Free admission, free parking.
Little gift/coffee shop open 10-5 six days a week (closed Tuesday).
Several covered areas with picnic tables, and a BBQ pit.
Not a playground (!!!) But I've seen families here enjoying the trains go by.
Nice to just hang out, talk to people, watch BNSF and Union Pacific...

Absolutely loved it. There's a train kids can play on, my niece & nephew loved it. It's so amazing watching the trains go by. Starved Rock State Park, an area of historical significance, boasts canyons, trails and waterways suitable for hiking, fishing and boating. The park offers a lodge and cabins for visitors to stay in. One of the main attractions is the Starved Rock itself which is easily accessible via a short trek. There are numerous paths meandering through cliffs and rivers that provide scenic views throughout the park.
Starved Rock State Park is an excellent place to hike. The actual starved rock is a very cool place to look around and it is not a very hard or long path. There are plenty of good hiking paths that go throughout the cliffs and rivers. The restaurant and conference center are a good place to rest and have great views. The restaurant’s food is not exceptional but it is pretty good. The nachos are very good.
Starved Rock State Park is a unique state park and one of my favorites.

This is a good park. However, the visitor center and trails nearby can be very busy on weekends. We had to park in overflow parking and hike in.
We had much better luck heading east to the other parking lots away from the main area.
Huge rock formations and tons of places to explore. My kids loved it but we saw many frustrated parents trying to us a stroller. If you have someone to lift a stroller up and down stairs, it won’t be bad but overall the park is NOT stroller friendly.
Beautiful bluff and great photo ops.
There are lots of little places where the trail is not clearly my defined and you can go exploring a little.
The staff was great and all the facilities were clean. There is nice restaurant and lodge if you need a bite to eat or place to rest.

What an amazing place to hike! The canopy keeps it very cool. I came early (6:45am) on a week day and did not see anyone until after 9am. Very cool to see the different Canyons and elevations along the hike. The stairs are no joke! It’s a moderate hike but lots of cool stops to see along the way, including waterfalls!

What an incredible and beautiful state park! Might be the prettiest place I’ve been to in Illinois, it’s such a nice break from the city and it’s not a super far drive. The trails are very easy and beginner friendly, there are some steep staircases and a few uneven parts of path but mostly flat trails. I will say that if you are expecting to see waterfalls, you should go 1-2 days after a big rain storm otherwise they’ll probably all be dry, especially during the middle of the summer. I also recommend going early, even if it’s on a weekday. We got there at about 10:30 and it wasn’t super busy, but by the time we got back from hiking around 1:30 it was insanely crowded, and hiking is a lot more fun in my opinion when it’s empty. Overall, I would definitely recommend visiting here on a day trip, I can’t wait to return myself!!

We arrived early and saw St. Louis Canyon before the crowds arrived. We had lunch in the visitor center, which was decent. After lunch we started out to see the eastern part of the trails.
The trails were very well marked and maintained. We covered west as far as St. Louis Canyon and east as far as Wildcat Canyon in about 18,000 steps on our step counter. There are a lot of stairs! The canyons are well worth the hike. We would like to return in the Spring when the falls are at their fullest.

STARVED ROCK STATE PARK is an Illinois hidden treasure. Camping was quiet and clean. However there was rain a few days prior and a few of the sites had water covering half the site.. was a nuisance for a few. So the park is alcohol free zone FYI! Be creams keep things quiet and you should be fine. Showers are good for a state park $25 a night fee with electric hook up. Thee are a both open and wooded sites. The trails are clean and marked fairly well. Be aware that there are many steep stairs to get to lookouts and canyons. Many only make it halfway. Bring plenty of water. We will return as it’s a quick 2hr trip.

We visited Starved Rock December 10 2022. We stayed at Getaway which is about 20 min away for the weekend. Overall, our experience at this state park was excellent. The trails are well maintained even in the late fall. We hiked for about 4 miles seeing the river views and the canyon views over about 2.5 hours. It is difficult to navigate a stroller/wheelchair along most of the trails in this state park so I recommend getting information ahead of time if you need accessibility. The features and varied topography were amazing; we will definitely return here again. About half of the hike we took was along a wooden or paved path. There are a lot of stairs, many more than they explain. Be prepared to go up and own more than 9 flights over the course of your hike. We had mild weather at about 40 degrees overcast with little wind. Its a great time of year to hike if you don't mind cold weather!

It is very peopley here. I did go on a weekend and expected it to be more populated but WOW. It’s not a holiday weekend thing, this is a popular place and local attraction that tons of people in the Midwest come to see (some even further) Either way, if you can stand bumping elbows every now and then it’s not too bad. It is very pretty. There are a lot of stairs on some of the trails. Definitely bring some water!!

I have a special fondness for this state park as it's a great place for outdoor activities. During our visit, we trekked for 3 hours, exploring both the Wildcat Canyon and the La Salle Canyon. Although there aren't any waterfalls in the summer, the hike remains incredibly enjoyable.

Great hike! It has quite a few stairs on different trails, but we had lots of fun. The visitor center has a nice food court, and you can get ice cream too. The camping ground is great! We stayed in a shaded camp, great for keeping it cool during the warm days. Great place for star gazing of you stay in the no shade campsites.

I have lived in Illinois since 2007 and wanted to visit Starved Rock so bad. November 19,23 is the first time I have had the pleasure of visiting and I was so glad I did. It was a wonderful time. There's lots of stairs so bring water and even a snack. There's a gift shop with super cute items in it. I want to go back because it was such a great time.

I’ve been to this place since I was very young. Starved Rock Lodge has had a special place in my life for most of my life. What I love about it is that unlike most things today, it still has it’s traditional, classic, and old school feel. It seems like one of the very few things that’s being preserved and rightly so. Most of the times I go on vacation there, my experience is generally quite positive. The staff are usually friendly and considerate. It has good fishing along the Illinois river despite the river’s pollution. The nature is also beautiful. The place itself is proof that Illinois is more than just Chicago and flat farmlands. I also always enjoy the pool and hot tub there too. No place is perfect but this is my way of trying to spread some positivity in a world of seemingly endless negativity. Thank you Starved Rock State Park for all of the joy you bring to people who enjoy visiting and thank you staff for your hard work and support. Hope you all can appreciate my new drawing.

Highly Recommend: very pretty, I think French canyon was the prettiest. I would recommend seeing all except walking the bluff trail between owl canyon and Ottawa - the trail is through forest and pretty boring, not much to see just treading along. I'd recommend just hiking to owl canyon and back and then driving and parking by Illinois or Ottawa canyon.

Nice big park. Trails for hiking an a big waterfront for fishing or watching the boats. There was a picnic area an boat dock just down from the visitor center area. Port a John's there for when the center isn't open. We did the st Louis canyon trail.. beautiful spot. We saw cliff swallows flying around the top of the canyon. That was neat!!

Tremendous park and trails, amazing campground facility as well five minutes up the road. We hiked four of the trails and loved the clean landscape, variations in altitude, and river and woodland views.
Staff are attentive and care greatly for the park.
The campground is amazingly clean and quiet. Bathrooms are typical camp baths.
A really fun weekend for the family with plenty of fresh air and exercise.

What a great state park to hike around and explore. The visitors center was clean and inviting. There is a little place to grab some treats and food called the trailhead.
There had been little rainfall around the time we were there so sadly the waterfalls were not flowing 😞 the trails were well marked and the YOU ARE HERE maps were placed all over.
Definitely a state park to add to your bucket list!

Beautiful scenery in the state park along with decently maintained trails. In some parts there have been a few steps sticking out in odd places where rain has washed it away. Besides that, it is a very well maintained park. I easily spend 2-3 hours here. It’s a huge park to explore!

Beautiful park to see the fall colors. Lots of hiking trail, the trail to LaSalle canyon has beautiful fall colors, restrooms are clean. Parking is easy during early hours, trail gets crowded later during the day. Would recommend.

We went when the waterfalls were dry so I was kind of disappointed but still had a good time. Spent over 3 hours walking the trails and enjoying the sites of nature. Very beautiful park. Loved the canyons and the views of the dam. Will definitely be back when waterfall season hits up again.

Starved Rock is a great state park for visitors to check out. It has pretty easy hiking so it's great for kids. Parking can be difficult sometimes in the summer as it's a popular place. It can also get a little crowded at certain times. My kids really like going and it's easy to let them wander because the paths are mainly boardwalks with railings and/or easy to follow. This park is dog friendly and, as all State Parks in Illinois, has a leash law. There are also cabins that you can rent and a hotel with a restaurant and pool. The fudge in the gift shop is a must. This is a great place for family photos and wedding photos. Have fun.

Located about an hour and half away from Chicago. This is a good place for hiking. In the spring and summer you’ll be able to see waterfalls up close. If you come in the winter, you’ll see like a winter wonderland because some of the waterfalls will be frozen and covered in snow. They have paved paths which makes things easier. Adequate amount of parking. You can pack a lunch and sit in the main picnic area. There is a visitor center with restrooms.

Was a blast! The amazing rock structures are a view to look at! It was a little crowded but it was expected with how beautiful the weather has been. Remember to wear comfy shoes, lots of stairs and ups and down hills! Some of the steps are trick due to the condition, so be careful and take your time! If you're in the area, The Rootbeer Stand is up the road for a quick bite and a throwback feel!

Came here on Thursday to this lovely outdoor hiking spot with a group of friends 🧡. We greatly enjoyed ourselves and enjoyed being outside. Just a warning ⚠️ If you are thinking of coming here, please come prepared. Make sure to bring enough water/snacks or food and whatever else you may need. Also, if you do not enjoy coming upstairs, be warned that there are a lot of stairs. Other than those minor things to let you all know about , I had an amazing time and will be coming back here soon.

Went on a rainy day, it was pouring. Really nice waterfall. Especially visit the Wildcat Canyon.
Try to see all the Canyons and the Eagle’s Point. The dam is nice to observe from the Eagle’s point. Would like to visit again in summer to see how it is different. Nice to hike at. Some spots have a nice riverview. The lodge is very pretty with a bar, fireplace and serves food. There are one or two stores that sell souvenirs and gems/jewellery and collective items. Free entry to the park and free parking.

Always packed and crowded on the weekends for hiking, but you'll still find moments to yourself. A nice scenic hike that's close to Chicago, yet remote. Trails are clearly labeled, and maps are accurate. Decent fishing off the dam, and friendly staff. Trails seem well maintained.

Starved Rock has a great visitor center. As you can see from the pictures, I shared that there are quite a few informative displays. Showing great details on what you can find around the state park. Plus, they have a great volunteer book store with a lot of great nature books. The best thing is that the proceeds go to support the various educational experiences they offer. They also have a gift shop with a wonderful selection of Starved Rock souvenirs. You will also find an ice cream/fudge shop that serves homemade sweets.

Nice place to hike! 13 miles altogether on the hiking trails. Went after a slight snow and it was beautiful! Lots of wooded paths. Very well marked and maps. Nice visitor center with restrooms and refreshments. Waterfall is super cool. Several lookout points overlooking the IL river and lock/dam. Dogs welcome! Everyone here was very friendly. Second time hiking here and will return again!

This was my family's first visit to the park. I suggest going early in the morning to avoid crowds. Visitors from many nationalities were present, and nearly every family had a dog. The park has many stairs, so be prepared for some climbing. I recommend bringing a bag with water, snacks, and a first aid kit. Some areas can be slippery, so exercise caution. There are insufficient seating options for those who need them. I suggest adding a handicapped section along the trails with seating. I hiked the Pontiac and Wildcat Canyon trails, which took approximately two hours and covered almost three miles.
Nostalgic relics from The Mother Road, such as shield murals, photos, license plates & more.
Excellent place to visit ! A bunch of really interesting stuff. Don't miss going to the military museum on the third floor; they have at least 75 uniforms from actual soldiers from wwI to present, and each has a description of the person's military history that is very humbling because not all of them made it home alive! I was brought to tears reading many of their stories! The museum is free, but the military part has a donation box and I would encourage everyone who visits to donate so they can continue to honor all of the heroes that have served so that we can enjoy our freedom in this country! On a lighter note, the vw van was the inspiration for the movie cars. Read the sign in the front window!

Located in downtown Pontiac, the Route 66 Association is part of a network of free museums that offers visitors something to explore.
The Route 66 focuses on the Illinois portion of the road, and shows memorabilia depicting the towns from Chicago to Saint Louis. It was interesting to learn how many people earned their livelihood from the Route.
You can walk through quickly, or spend some time admiring the objects on display. I spent about 45 minutes in the Route 66 Museum. The volunteers are wonderful. I have to give a shout-out to Rose who was positively charming.
This is a must-see if you are into automobile history, the history of Illinois, or popular culture from the 50's and 60's. Be sure to walk around the back and take a photo with the gigantic Route 66 mural on the side of the building.

An interesting place that is a must visit when passing through this town. A nice woman gave my children Route 66 badges, they were happy. But the War Museum, located in this building on the second or third floor, made a great impression on me. For reasons unknown to me, this museum is not very popular in Google maps, but it is there and you should pay attention to this place. You won't find anything like it for thousands of miles!

On my way to Oak Brook, I stopped in Pontiac City because I've always wanted to view the Route 66 Museum and Hall of Fame. It brought back a lot of memories and allowed me to visualize the golden days of Mother Road. I also appreciate viewing the military uniform collection at the war museum. A must visit site. Come to Pontiac, Illinois, if you want to learn about Old Route 66, is my strongest recommendation. After my visit, I also create two YouTube videos to share with my friend. Have Fun!

Free museum parking available nearby.
This place is a knockout. The work time effort and money put into this Pontiac Museum is overwhelming. Dont think you will be able to enjoy it in an hour. You could spend the better part of a day here if you really wanted to take in all that is on display. Tim and his wife have dedicated a lifetime and then some to showcasing and making that available to the public. WOW. I was on a high speed cross country trip, and detoured to stop by here, but was in such a rush, I robbed myself of the experience it could have provided. I will have to go back, when time allows.

The David Davis Mansion is a well-preserved Victorian house and garden that belonged to a prominent 19th-century family. The mansion showcases period artwork and technology, providing visitors with an opportunity to time-travel back to the early 1800s. The volunteer guide is knowledgeable about the history of the location, which has connections to Lincoln. Special events are held at the mansion throughout the year, such as Christmas celebrations and car shows. While entry is currently free, donations are appreciated.
I had a lovely time walking through this well-preserved mansion. The decor was recreated so nicely, as if the original owner merely stepped out for the day. I felt as though I had time traveled back to the early 19th century. Truly a sight to behold! My volunteer guide was wonderful at relaying information about this location as well. It’s currently free to walk the grounds although a donation is always appreciated. I had a spectacular time envisioning an era long since passed, thank you.

These old houses in Illinois are really a treasure. I especially love the old Architecture and seeing how people used to live. The tour guide was awesome, but the video was a bit on the boring side (and I like this stuff). Overall a very good visit.

I really loved the history of it! Judge Davis had influence and helped president Lincoln! I also learned different information culturally about Christmas decorations and why the Teddy bear was called Teddy bear. It felt warm and nice. Usually mansions feel stuffy and museum like but this was not the case! They took good care of it and I really loved being there! The people that worked there went above and beyond with the tours and information!

Pretty cool place if you’re into old Victorian homes and American history. The volunteers there were all very nice and gave a great tour. Would recommend.
Just know that the video and tours start at the top of the hour and there isn’t much to see if you don’t go on the tour since you cannot access the interior of the house without a guide. So really no point to go after hours.

Miller Park Zoo is a public recreational area that boasts of a lake, pavilion, bandstand and war memorials among other attractions. The zoo is home to various animals including those not commonly found in larger zoos. Unfortunately, some bird enclosures were closed due to the ongoing bird flu outbreak within the county. Nonetheless, visitors can still enjoy watching animal training sessions such as those for otters while learning more about them at the same time.
It was a decent experience. Across from it is Miller park , which has a water splash and a nice play area for the little ones. The kids loved it 😍. The price is very reasonable, this is a smaller zoo so not as many big animals. Staff were friendly and this little zoo looks well kept and was very clean and the restrooms are clean and smelled sanitized. Small zoo, however what they did offer kept my little ones attention😀

Really amazing for a small town! Become a member if you're local! They have otters, snow leopards, wolves, axolotl, snow leopards, red pandas, sakis, alligators, and many other animals. When my daughter was younger, she loved feeding goats an playing in their area, there's a carousel, budgie feeding is fun, the rainforest part is amazing, and they are adding more areas! In the summer they offer free educational programs, we sat through many of those when my daughter was younger, the bring real animals, and kids can touch/pet them, and learn about them in an interactive manner. The gift shop is decent, concessions area is open till 4 and is OK. The playground outside and the splash pad are amazing! So if you're thinking about visiting, this could be a whole day thing, only that you'd need to pack lunch, not many restaurants close by. We still love to visit, my daughter now loves all those things, we're still members, and the zoo provides a really nice are to walk around with small kids and family. Staff are friendly and always ready to answer questions. We attended a birthday party at their community room, so all in all a great resource for families in the area.

Stopped here while on a family road trip, passing through. It was the perfect pit stop for my toddler to enjoy and burn off some energy. Zoo is on the smaller side but that was exactly what we needed with not a lot of time to spare. We spent about an hour to tour the entire zoo. They had an area under construction, so more animals/exhibits in the future. We would definitely come back if we’re in the area in the future.

Visiting from Chicago area for the weekend. Had no idea that Bloomington Normal had an AZA accredited zoo; Was very pleasantly surprised that they did. $6.50 admission plus a small donation was well worth the time we had. Our favorite animals were the flamingos (right when you walk in) and the wallabies in the Wallaby Walkabout. Throughout the zoo I was excited by just how close they let you get to some of the animals. When compared to some of the larger zoos, Miller Park has a smaller selection of animals, but what they did have were well presented in nice enclosures that you could get close to. After this visit I might prefer smaller accredited zoos such as this to the larger ones. But regardless, this is a great zoo absolutely worth visiting next time you're in the area or passing through and want a fun 1-2 hour experience! We'll be back soon!

We are SO GLAD we stopped by here. We had some other plans in Bloomington and coming to this wonderful zoo was a great way to spend the morning. The animals seemed healthy and happy and there were some areas where the animals were able to roam freely (Australian section and birds in the tropical section). We will be back and are looking forward to the new exhibit (I think South American animals?) under construction. It was a small and intimate zoo but it was extremely high quality.
Did I mention RED PANDAS?

A small zoo with genuinely happy and pleasant staff. Nice opportunities to get up close with the animals and interact at times. There's a petting zoo where you can feed the goats. There is a Carousel and simulated hurricane experience inside the zoo. There is also a very large playground right next to the zoo. It shares the same parking lot. Miller Park zoo is definitely worth going to and experiencing. We will be back. My children's ages ranged from 1 to 11. Everyone had fun: even the adults.

VERY IMPRESSED with the Miller Park Zoo. Admission tickets were I think $7 or $8 bucks. Wife and myself both had a zoo date for under $20. The animals and zoo scenery were above expectations coming from a smaller zoo. I come from chicago where brookfield zoo tickets are like $50. The turtle exhibit was so fun to watch. The walking paths were very well kept and gets very close to the animals.
Check out this little gem

I had such a good time here! I think this zoo is the perfect size, everything is super close together so you don't have to walk forever to get to a specific section.
For a zoo on the smaller side, I didn't expect it to have such cool animals, but there were red pandas, flamingos, otters, a tiger, and so many others! You can get super close to some of the animals because the fences are right where they hang out in their areas. We got to pet a goat (it might have been a different animal, I'm not sure) because it came right up to the fence at the petting zoo.
I'd say we waited between 3 and 5 minutes, only because there were a few families in front of us, but it took less than a minute when it was our turn.
Overall, it was a great experience and I definitely recommend going there if you are passing through or just looking for something to do for an hour or two.
Peoria Zoo is an impressive park that boasts over 100 species from around the world, including some that are endangered. Visitors can enjoy feeding giraffes and exploring African installations. Although tickets may be slightly expensive, the overall experience is worth it. One of the main highlights of the zoo is the wooden bridge which provides access to a fantastic vantage point for viewing giraffes. Another exciting attraction is the lion viewpoint where visitors can hear the roar of these majestic animals.
I've been to this zoo 4 times. It has 4 sections; combined it took us about 90 minutes. All the animals are up close. The entire zoo has a balance of sun and shade. Quite a few animals for a small zoo. Very stroller friendly; ramps instead of stairs. The 3 sections are:
1.) "the original section" which is a building that has monkeys, foxes and an outside area with a barn with goats and donkeys and a conservation center
2.) an Asian section which has a handful of exhibits with animals like tigers and takins, and a small building with snakes and bats
3.) an African section which takes up almost half the area with big enclosures for rhinos, zebras, and the like
4.) an Australian walkabout
Zoo is very clean, well-maintained - and can do as much or as little as you like. And.. there's a children's museum within walking distance as well!

Nice smaller zoo. My fiance was very happy with the three giraffes. It was very quiet with not many people, but it was Monday afternoon. This was actually a plus for us since it seemed more intimate without a bunch of people.

Terribly disappointed. The whole reason I went there was to see a naked mole rat which was featured on the website.( the only other zoo with naked mole rat is Bronx).
There is major construction there, you can see like 3 animals in total.
But weather was nice and walking through the zoo was nice, hence 2 stars.

My kids are 3 and 4, and we have so much fun when we go.
Not everything is open yet this year and we still spent an hour and half looking at the different animals.

I would recommend the family pass if you live close by.
It can be crowded at times, but with the pass we have been really lucky to feel like we had the exhibits to ourselves for a nice amount of time if you go at slow parts of the day.
So happy to have a zoo like this close by!

It's a small zoo but the kids enjoyed themselves. They do not have a carousel or train like some other zoos but my kids didn't notice. Can get through the zoo in about an hour, 2 max. Most animals were active when we were there in mid March with temps in 50s. Only animals that were still not in exhibits due to cold were the alligator and tortoise as expected.

I love being able to get close to a giraffe. I wish we could have been able to feed it ourselves. I didn't think it was quite worth $5 just to stand closer to it. The Walk About was probably my favorite part. I didn't read the sign and had a big surprise when there was a Wallaby right inside the gate just sitting there 😳😂
I thought the exercise trail/QR codes were really cool!

The best small town zoo around. We drove down from the Quad Cities and it was absolutely worth it! We will definitely be coming back again and again. The design is great they definitely took line of sight into consideration because you actually get to see the animals. The Australia walk about is so cool! Being so close to the animals free roaming around is awesome. Feeding the Giraffe is the best! The amount of shade going through the zoo is great! You aren't baking in the sun the whole time you're there, you're actually in the shade most of the time. Their food and drink options are great and they don't cost an arm and a leg like other places. The gift shop is large and has a great selection, again it is very reasonably priced. Just all around a fantastic zoo.
The one "bad" thing I do want to say is the walking paths are a little beat up. It was a little difficult pushing a stroller and walking you do have to watch out for potholes and large cracks. There are also some steep inclines that older and disabled might find difficult.

Africa part of the zoo is good, the rest of the areas are not at all appealing. There is large snake I was surprised with the size of the snake it’s huge. The lion doesn’t have enough room I feel like and over all it’s ok one time thing. The cafeteria hardly has any items on the menu, even those that are on menu weren’t offered as their machine broke.

Not very many animals. It was an OK zoo. Was it work 12.50? Not really in my opinion. But we did go at the end of March. 🤷♂️
The Caterpillar Visitors Center offers interactive exhibits showcasing the company's history and powerful machines, including diggers, tractors, and trucks from vintage to modern. The exhibition center is staffed by friendly individuals who are knowledgeable about CAT. Their dedication extends to teaching young children how to operate simulation machines and vehicles. Expert testimonials have described the museum as awesome. Recommended for those interested in learning more about this monster machine company.
Awesome experience to learn this monster machine company. My father in law worked for caterpillar for over 35 years. We know it is an awesome and powerful company that he’s always been proud to work for. The exhibition center is very nice, we learned a lot of things about CAT and the staffs here are very nice and friendly.

Okay, so I mostly went here for my boys, ages 3 and 6 years, but ended up entertaining not only myself, but my 10 and 8 year old girls. We got to climb into actual Caterpillar machinery, learn about engines and saw a few of their best marketing campaigns. We enjoyed ourselves.

this place has a cool exhibit, lots of interesting history displayed, and very knowledgeable and kind staff. Norbert, one of the retired CAT employees, was very knowledge in the field and was more than willing to go the extra steps to help us learn about the history of CAT and how it became the company it is today. if we ever were in town again, we would 100% come back and plan of recommending this place to others!

A great place to visit if you’re interested in the history of Caterpillar. There are many things too see but the only thing that will catch your eyes is the big mining truck. There are some pretty cool simulators which you can sit on and try using the different controls. The employees working here are retired Cat employees. I was assisted by Skip and Rose. Had a great conversation with both of them. Very kind , sweet and knowledgeable. Thank you.

It's great fun for boys ages 1 to 62! This was a fun cousin memory. Kids under 12 are free, and adults are only $7, so it is a very cost-effective family activity.

If you like to know about Caterpillar history it is a good place to visit. The tour starts with a video about the global footprints and the services the company is doing. When you go downstairs you can witness the 100 year old long history and the company's evolution. They showcased every possible product they produce and there are some simulators in which you can sit and operate, and you can feel the machine operation. There are some CAT merchandise available for sale upstairs.

Not only was this place awesome to see, but every single person that worked there was absolutely amazing! They even took the time to teach my young kids how to maneuver the simulation machines and the few vehicles that they could get in. Would definitely recommend going!!

Very well done and cool museum. After reading some reviews, thought it would be smaller than what it was, but thought it was overall a well done history of the company. Getting to see some equipment on display was fun and then the simulators were cool as well.

Lots of fun for the whole family! There are simulators to try, Cats to hop on and sit in, a seven room engineering museum type thing- and all of the employees are really nice too.

We saw a sign for this place on the highway and visited it on a whim. Street parking is available, which you can pay for easily by phone. It is 7 USD for adults and free for the kids. You enter the cargo area of their mining truck to watch a short video, then take the stairs to the display area. Very clever way to display and get people to appreciate the truck's size. The kids enjoyed the simulator, which lets you practice several pieces of equipment. Much better quality than those simulators you find in other places. I guess these were developed for actual training.

It is very cool to see the history of how it started from a small to large truck. The simulation is very great. There is a cinema in a big truck. This museum is worth your time.
Only one negative - there don't have to access to offer such subtitles (closed captioning). I hope they can provide them for deaf or people who are in need of it.

You start the experience watching a movie in the back of a large mining truck. Then you continue on a self-guided tour of the history of CAT. Kids can climb into various CAT machines. There are interactive experiences to drive CAT bulldozers and excavators. We spent about an hour there.

We went right when it opened on a Thursday morning so it wasn't crowded at all . All of the workers are very knowledgeable and very friendly. They have lots of information about caterpillar and like sharing it .
Amazing to see the life like replica of the dump truck . It's huge
The simulators for the heavy equipment are cool as well .
Truly cool roadside attraction! We all loved it and thought it was a very cool photo opportunity. Lincoln, reading a law book, is 12 foot tall and the covered wagon is 24 foot tall. There is a stand nearby with information about how it is the tallest covered wagon in the world. We love roadside attractions and this is a great one just off old Route 66.

Not a real wagon, but more of a large yard decoration. If you a near by it is worth stopping to see it, but I would not drive out of your way. My 3 year old really like it, but older kids will not be impressed.

This is a nice little excursion on a road trip. It is only a few miles off the main road, and you can continue to pick up the highway at the next exit. It is well preserved and clean with plenty of parking. Fun to see things like this and break up the trip and walk around for a minute with really losing a lot of time. Well worth the few minutes it took.

The World's Largest Railsplitter Covered Wagon is a landmark right off of Interstate 55. It is a neat attraction, and you only need 5-10 minutes to make a quick stop and snap a few photos.
If you like roadside attractions be sure to take some time and see this. If you need a bathroom, the American Legion next door is open to the public and has bathrooms available.

It's lost it's cover but it's still huge. You can't climb on it. Technically they call it the world's largest rails platter. I think they should add some ox in front of it so Abe can get moving lol.

If you an extra 10 minutes, it’s a fun way to stretch your legs because it’s not too far off the highway. It needs some upkeep and yard work. Fun for the kids to see.

We stopped to visit the Covered Wagon in the beginning of May, 2023. Unfortunately the wagon has been damaged by high winds. As such the attraction is under construction to repair the damage. You can still see it and take pictures. But it is taped off to keep folks at a distance.
At this point, the wagon is on jacks and is missing its left rear wheel. Although Abe is still piloting the wagon. He says hi.

To quote my friend; “It’s not even covered!”
Now, to be fair and to preface this blog post, we did stop by after it received some storm damage. So the state it was in when we visited is not a representation of what it actually looks like. The low score is from my initial visit. Should I happen to make it back, I will update the score and post new photos to reflect what it really presents. Looking into it for this blog post, I would rather like to see it in it’s former glory as it looks really cool!
Okay, so with all that in mind, my friends and I left Springfield after a day of exploring. On the way home, we saw the sign for this covered wagon. I asked everyone if they wanted to stop and check it out. They didn’t care… so 10 minutes later, we find ourselves looking at the wagon… or the damaged wagon. As stated above, it seemed to have received some storm damage and was in the process of being restored, so it was in really bad shape.
But we had some fun taking goofy photos in front of it. It was muddy out, so we couldn’t explore around the area too much. I have visited Lincoln, IL a few times since this photo was taken, so next time I am down there, I hope to have new/better photos of the wagon. It really does look cool from seeing other people’s online photos.
Plus, it’s a nod to Illinois and the USA’s history since it has Abraham Lincoln on it.
The link to the website provided below is not to the Wagon’s actual website… because it does not have one. But I do like Atlas Obscura, so I linked to their website. That way there is some reference material if you are interested in learning more about the wagon.

Cool photo opportunity, and it's so awesome to see the size and think about it actually having to work to qualify for "world's largest". Very fun little side stop for us!
The Lincoln Monument Association is an organization that was founded in 1883 to raise money for the construction of a monument to Abraham Lincoln. The monument was eventually built and is now located in Springfield, Illinois.
I visited here when I was a kid on a field trip and found it so interesting I brought my own children back. There was a man when you walk through the door, not a tour guide, I dont think, but he was really polite and helpful. He gave us the overview of where everything was and was really great at answering my kids questions.
The tomb itself was really interesting. I found it very interesting that Abraham, Mary, Edward, William, and Tad seemed to be together, and there was an iron grate separating the space of their other son, Robert. Is it done purposely? I wonder if it has anything to do with Robert having Mary declared insane? Who knows, we recommend checking it out either way!

The tomb is located in Oak Ridge Cemetery and there's enough signage that you certainly can't miss it. Or just follow the parade of school buses that are bringing and endless number of kids here to see it.
That said, you will want to wait until after all the kids have been and gone through the inside. It is underground and there is nothing to break down the echo. I lucked out and arrived during a school bus gap so I mostly had the inside to myself to see the tomb and view the statues of Lincoln inside and read the quotes.
I've been to the Lincoln Monument and I've been to Gettysburg. This was definitely worth it for me.

A powerful yet somber experience and tribute to the Great Abe Lincoln. The ground are beautiful, the monument is wonderful, the caretaker was extremely friendly and welcomed us and thanked us for coming and encouraged us to take pictures. We were the only family there, so we didn't have to wait in the queue! This was simply a beautiful and humbling experience. The monument is well built. The first thing you feel is peaceful. Before you enter the tomb, there's a bronze bust of Lincoln. Make sure to rub the nose of the statute for good luck! Once you enter inside the building, you are greeted by the friendly volunteer. The interior design is quite posh- art deco style , and very very clean. There are few statutes, plaques and quotes, and a final resting place of President Lincoln and his wife and 3 children are also buried there.
It's free to enter, free parking and there's also a washroom area near the car park. Oh, drop a penny behind the building near the window for another luck!
The Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum is a must-see for history buffs. With an expansive array of exhibits, the center tells the full story of Lincoln's life in unique ways. The multimedia installations and hologram theater make it one of a kind, making it one of the most popular attractions in town.
There's no better place to learn about the life of Abe Lincoln than at this museum.
I would recommend it for families or school groups. Personally, the ideal minimum age is probably around 10+ as getting the most out of each exhibit requires patience and reading. My boys are a bit younger and it was tough for them to stay focused till the end.
Any weather conditions are fine because the museum is entirely indoors. It was pouring rain during our visit; the staff was kind enough to offer plastic bags to house each of our wet umbrellas.
Don't bother bringing food or drinks in. They won't allow them, but if you forget you can rent a locker for a quarter.
You should allocate 3-4 hours of time here in order to enjoy each exhibit and both theatre shows.
Keep an eye out for the Abe Lincoln impersonator that will occasionally pop out and roam around. He's happy to greet you and discuss anything from his life, including his wrestling career!!
You won't regret your visit here.

Nice museum about Lincoln.
Entry price of $15 is too much.
Loved the life sized statues of Lincoln and his family.
Presentations were nice and creative, but I wish they had more details about his life and growing up.
Cafe closes at 3 pm, I wish they had it open longer.
There is street parking but the coin slots were not working. There is a parking garage a block away.
The merchandise shop has a lot of unique stuff but is overpriced.

Made my semi-annual visit to the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Museum this afternoon and it never seizes to immerse my curiosity and attention. Very cool being able to view an original copy of the Gettysburg Address written in Lincoln's own hand. The two theater shows are both absolutely incredible. Both sections of Lincoln's life are fabulously brought to life. As an historian, I fully appreciate every aspect of this museum and can't wait to return.

This was such a fun experience! I haven't been here since I came with a field trip. Today I got today take my children through the museum and share those experiences and memories with them. Our kids are 9 and 11 and both found the museum and theatres very entertaining and educational. We really enjoyed how Lincoln is portrayed as a real human with flaws, as opposed to just "the legend". My only critique is the Cafe. There was little to no selection for food ,( I think it was just hot dogs, chilli for dogs, and pulled pork?) Only throwing that in for parents with young kids who are picky. We also visited on a Thursday morning, so that may have played a part? Either way, it was an amazing experience, highly recommend checking this out! There was a traveling experience for you've kids(10 and under), and we didn't check that out since both kids couldn't go in.

Went for the first time today and it was wonderful! There is so much to read and learn that I’m sure I missed a lot! The exhibits are wonderfully done, so many beautiful things to see. They have many authentic pieces behind glass and they had 2 amazing short shows today, they were so neat! Definitely not what I thought I was walking into. The staff was very nice, helpful, and informative. I will definitely be back and I’m sure I will find a ton that I missed! I also strongly suggest doing the scavenger hunt they provide, it makes you really look for the information and adds some extra excitement to it! They have an online version or a hard copy!
Even the gift shop had a ton of cool stuff!! I couldn’t believe this experience was only $15! A really good price for the education and fun! The staff also informed us a new exhibit will be opening in March, I am excited to go back and see it!

I learned so much about Abraham Lincoln at the Museum. It was educational. I was very intrigued by the map that showed the progression of the Civil War, with the names of the battles and how much territory was gained/lost, and how many deaths. I didn’t realize how much heck he got from the press. There is a whole section of cartoons from the newspapers at the time of the elections through the Presidency. I also didn’t know that Booth was a fairly well known actor. This is definitely a must see! We did walk over to the Library too, but to look at the books you need an appointment. But there were a few things displayed around the main floor you could look at.

The Abraham Lincoln Presidential Museum was surprisingly very interesting. They had a couple of interactive theaters that lasted around 15-17 minutes each. An exhibit of how they thought Abraham was raised. That exhibit has a fun scavanger hunt. They have an exhibit of different presidents and their history. And, of course, the political life of Abraham Lincoln all of the way to his assassination.
I would suggest calling ahead if you would like a group tour. Otherwise, you are welcome to walk in and pay. They don't allow food, drink, or gum.
I would say to take a good 4 hours here soaking it all in. They do have a gift shop with interesting little things to buy like huckleberry syrup.
The Abraham Lincoln Home National Historic Site is a house where Abraham Lincoln lived and worked from 1844 to 1861. The house is located in downtown Springfield, Illinois, and visitors can learn about the life of Lincoln as a lawyer, politician and finally as President of the United States during their tours.
The house was very interesting. The tour guide was good. He should definitely go through it at least one time in your life. Just to say you did it. There's so much in this town to look at it definitely will take a couple trips especially if you're doing a weekend adventure.

Great site to tour. The tour guides were very knowledgeable. The home itself have quite a few period artifacts from the Lincolns personal collection as well as furniture used by the Lincoln family.
This is the only home that Mr. Lincoln owned prior to moving to the White House. It is also where his children were born and died as well.
It is best to get there early to avoid the large school bus tours that begin to show up as the day progresses.
It is definitely worth the stop and visit. And it is free of charge.

It's a great place to visit for all ages. I visited this place during the spring break 2022 with my 5 year old toddler son. If you are going there for the first time, here is the few information:
1. Tour to Lincoln's home is free, but it is guided one. It leaves every 30 min, so try to put your name down as soon as you get to the museum
2. The parking is free and that is in front of the visitor center. No worries - there is enough parking spot.
3. If you are with kid, let your kid participate in the Junior ranger program... it takes only 15-20, but the fun part is they get certificate signed by the ranger and also a Junior ranger badge. This one is free as well.
4. Take a walk outside the Lincoln's home on the brick-road. You will feel you have gone 200 years back in time-machine.

This is a must see National Historic Site. You get to walk through Lincoln’s home. See his actual furniture including his writing desk. Also, walk his yard and neighborhood as it was in the 1850’s. It’s all well presented. Storyboards everywhere. The visitor center has a great movie and shop. I came here once before in 1968 for a grade school trip. The National Park Service restored it in the 1980’s so now it’s much better experience than the old days. Go visit Lincoln’s home

The Lincoln Home National Historic Site was the first stop on our "Lincoln weekend" in Springfield. While born in Kentucky, Abe Lincoln moved to Illinois while young with his family. The home still stands, although much of it was restored and repaired. They did a fantastic job of finding period-specific furniture and furnishings based on drawings and photos.
You start in their welcome center/gift shop. There is a brief presentation before you set out to see the house. It was a rainy day, but we did not let them stop us. The attached photos do the house justice, so I won't go into much more detail about what we saw. I already said I was impressed with the restoration and furnishings. Much of my comments are represented in the photos.
This home is only a part of a restored neighborhood of homes. These were the homes of Lincoln's friends and neighbors. Many are open to the public. Because of the weather, we chose to defer this part until our next visit.
This is a must-see for Lincoln fans and historians. It was well worth the price of entry (free).

This is a fantastic place to visit if you're interested in history. The tour guide is very knowledgeable and really brings the site to life. You'll learn a lot about President Lincoln's life and the historic significance of the site. One of the things that I really enjoyed about the site is how well-maintained it is. The grounds are clean and the buildings are in good shape, which makes for a really pleasant experience. The staff is also incredibly friendly and helpful. They're always happy to answer any questions you might have and make sure you're having a great time. There's plenty to do and see, whether you're interested in history or not. You can take a free guided tour of the site, explore the visitor center, or just wander around and take in the sights. Overall, I would highly recommend the Lincoln Home National Historic Site to anyone looking for a fun and educational experience.

After many years of wanting to visit, I finally made it. Not only President Lincoln's home but a other neighborhood homes are presented to help us recreate what it might have looked like in the 1840-60s. The house is well preserved, and I heard 60% of everything in there is original.

Nice Lincoln house in Springfield. It has been preserved in the same way it was during Lincoln times. It's not just his house but the whole street and surrounding houses have been preserved well. The side walk has wooded boards and roads have bricks. I would recommend getting tickets early as we went 1 hour before closing time which is 5 pm and it was booked out. They have a nice gift shop in the information center.

I would diffently recommend going here. You get to learn a lot about him and his family and friends. You get to walk around his town and see how he lived and what he did on a daily basis. My favorite part was going through his house and touching the railing that he touched. I think everybody would love to tour his house. It's really fun.

I’ve been to the Lincoln Museum and Presidential Library many times. I’m so mad at myself for not getting to his crib. The staff are all National Parks staff and they are wonderful, informative and helpful. The visitors center has a ton of info and a short on Lincoln in Springfield. The home is meticulously restored. Walking the streets of Abe’s neighborhood will catapult you into the mid 1800’s.

What a lovely National Park. Not only is Abraham Lincoln's hone super interesting and authentic, but the street is lined with historic homes and interesting information. When touring the home, you go upstairs and use the original handrail that Lincoln used...one of the young girls (maybe 11yo) in the group said "I am never washing my hand again, I touched where Lincoln touched." It was very cool. Shannon was our tour guide, volunteer, and she was great!! Worth the trip!!

Just being able to tour these homes is amazing. Thanks to the National Park Service for the work you do preserving our parks and our history.
The Frank Lloyd Wright-designed Dana-Thomas House museum is a beautiful historic residence displaying many original furnishings by the famed architect. The property is located in downtown Lawrence, Kansas, and is well worth a visit for any fan of Wright's work.
My favorite Frank Lloyd Wright house to date. The exterior of the house could use some TLC…..grounds also. The interior showcases the work of a true genius. Tour guide was informative and cordial. I recommend it!👍🏼

My first Frank Lloyd home tour. Tour guide was very informative on the history of its owner along with her philanthropist activities. The interior architectural design was extraordinary and futuristic for its time of construction. The tour is free, donations are welcome, no reason not to take advantage of learning and seeing history first hand.

95+% original Frank Lloyd Wright house only blocks from the Illinois State capital building. The state-landmark house is a living museum of the socialite Mrs. Dana. She paid Wright a lot for the design a little over 100 years ago. The home is filled with original furniture design by Mr. Wright that takes you back to his original concept. Lots of art glass as well. You need to make reservations online because they only have a few guided tours a day - takes about an hour. Our tour guide was great!

It's hard to put into words the beauty of this rare architectural treasure. I've done the tour several times, and there are new things to discover in every visit. The details of the home are impressive throughout. The art glass is astounding.
The tour guides do a great job balancing the history of Susan Lawrence Dana's life while pointing out the particulars of Frank Lloyd Wright's design.
Regular tours can accommodate up to 15 people and are totally FREE! Parking is easily accessible and can be found directly across the street from the house.

I have loved Frank Lloyd Wright houses for a long time and though there is one in the next city over where I live, it doesn't compare to this place. It's 12000 sq ft of lavishness with its windows and furniture and little extras all created specifically for design as well as function. It was interesting learning the history behind the house and its previous owners as well as its use as a publishing company. No interior photos allowed so you definitely want to take the tour.

Words can't do justice to FLW's vision with this home. Photographs don't come close to actually experiencing the design, room transitions, and use of light. We can't emphasize enough that you take time out from Lincoln sightseeing to visit this gem. Make your reservation s online to ensure you can take the tour. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable and he really brought things to life. Photos are not permitted inside the home. You will not regret this experience.

Beautiful and historic. I strongly recommend a visit, it is free and so is parking across the street. They do request you get your tickets in advance, just go through their website. The glass work is stunning. I hope to attend their candlelight sessions this holiday season.

An early example of Frank Lloyd Wright architectural design and an interesting story of the owner who commissioned the work. A guided 1 hour tour, you have to get tickets online but they are free.

My husband and I enjoyed our experience at this wonderful exhibit. We couldn't have asked for a better experience of a Frank Lloyd Wright designed an architectural master piece with the stained glass windows. This beauty is definitely worth a trip if you are already in Springfield. If not, visiting is definitely worth a visit. It's an amazing piece of history that isn't explained enough.

Beautifully kept home with amazing architecture. Our guide, Amber, did an excellent job of informing us of the history of this Frank Lloyd Wright design. It's definitely worth a visit.

It is truly an amazing, eclectic, extravagant Frank Lloyd Wright home. An example of the use of the latest technology combined with early 20th century opulence. Construction details and extensive use of hand crafted art glass is astounding. Wright seemed to have free reign in designing this complex yet practical marvel. Our guide did a great job taking us on a tour (about 1 hour). The original owner had a huge inheritance and used the home for both entertaining and some community goodwill.

We visited Springfield with a daughter and husband to see our grandsons living there, and meet new great granddaughter as well as new grand daughter in law. We decided to take in the Lincoln Museum and Dana Thomas house. Our guide at the house was amazing..and she had only been there since August! She knew so much and the way she explained was so interesting. I would go back for certain!!

FANTASTIC HOUSE!!!! 98% original Frank Lloyd Wright house only blocks from the Illinois State capital building. Sooooo much art glass and almost all original furniture. Only drawback is that you can't take photos in the house but totally understand that and would highly recommend anyone to go visit if you are in Springfield. You need to make reservations online because they only have a few guided tours a day but the website is easy to use.

We have visited many of FLW’s buildings and this is right up there with Falling Water and Taliesin West. The glass windows were beautiful and the house was full of surprises around every corner. This is definitely worth the visit.
Grant's Farm is a popular attraction located on the Busch family estate that houses over 100 animal species. Visitors can take a tram ride around the property and enjoy various activities such as feeding wildlife, including goats. The park offers free admission but charges for parking, which can be purchased online at a discounted price. It is a cashless park, so visitors should bring their cards to purchase food and beverages or participate in special activities.
Most Excellent St Louis Treasure. This Park is Phenomenal experience to be offered free admission with only a parking fee. Can be purchased online in advance for less. Cashless park bring a Card to purchase food beverage and special activities experiencing and feeding some wildlife is a must.

We love visiting here! This place is so good for families. Staff are very friendly and kind. They have rooms for breastfeeding/changing and to get overstimulated kids calmed. Very clean and the goats are so much fun. Definitely do the family passes if you have kids. I paid for mine online and very easy to redeem in the gift shop when you first get off the tram. Staff will take care of your stroller on the tram too.

BOTH the men’s and women’s bathrooms have baby changing tables!!!! So fun! The baby goats see that bottle and they will come after it so some kids there were very scared of this but my 2 year old loved it and my 9 month old wanted to touch everything! Buy your parking pass online bc it’s cheaper also we loved grabbing the fun pass on the website too. Also they do NOT take cash. It was a good half day outing.

I hadn't been here in several years, I loved it then, & I loved it now! The tram ride starts your adventure off, with an amazing sightseeing adventure of numerous wildlife & historic buildings. You're dropped off to see even more animals, where you have the opportunity to feed baby goats, see camels & much more! For adults... you're allowed 2 alcoholic beverages for free! You can also visit the famous ' Budweiser Clydesdale's ' barn! This is a great place for the whole family, & I can't wait to return during warmer weather!

This place is always fun to go to, it brings back many childhood memories of family trips with my grandparents to see the world famous Budweiser Clydesdales. There are lots of things to see and do here.
And now I have the opportunity to create memories with my grandchildren.
Pro tip, don't buy the milk for the goats since they are usually full if you aren't the first ones there.
Buy the cones with the food instead.

If you're a family looking to do something near St. Louis on a budget, you should visit Grant's Farm! You pay for parking ($10-$15) and from there you can spend as much or little as you want.
They have turned part of Ulysses S. Grant's old property into an animal refuge that you can visit for free. They have quite a variety of animals and some different packages that you can pay extra for some up close encounters. They have a great Beer Garden where you can grab a bite to eat and every adult over 21 can get two generous beer samples for FREE. It hit the spot on the hot day we enjoyed Grant's Farm. Check out the St. Louis Zoo for another free activity. Enjoy your time in the friendly city of St. Louis!

Free admission, 2 free beer per visit, only have to pay $19/ vehicle for parking. Wow what a deal. Staff were all friendly and energetic. It’s a good 2 hours spent in grant farm. Many things to learn. And kids get to see real animals. The farm was well maintained. All animals look happy and healthy. And those Clydes dales were Gorgeous and magnificent.

The way this works is that parking costs money; but getting in is free. If you don't drive.. well... First you get on a guided tour on a small set of cars that takes about 15-20 minutes of much of the farm grounds that tells you about the place and how it got to where it is. At the end, you get off in the main attraction section where there are over a dozen separate animal places where you can seem them all, take in a show, do a camel ride or feed baby or adult farm animals. We did the animal behind the scenes and got to feed several animals, pet others, and get deeper info. They offer 2 free drinks and food for sale. The people working with the animals tend to be young people eager to share. Spent almost 2-1/2 hours here.

Had a really nice experience. The the grounds and facilities are very well kept. The staff was friendly and very helpful. Parking is $16 but admission to the park is free. Concessions are basic around the park but there are more options such BBQ at the garden. You also get 2 free beer samples. Lots of animals to see, an animal show, and tram ride through the whole of the property. Bottle feeding the baby goats is popular and my favorite too! There other animals you can feed as well, just need to purchase the feed for a small price. Good time for the family and all ages. I'll be visiting again soon!

We love Grants Farm!!! The tours are amazing and you will have a great time. Today we stopped by the stables and fields. The horses are very independent and most will have nothing to do with you. A younger horse decided he would let us give him clover in exchange for a few pats. Although he would only let you touch him while he was eating the clover out of your hand. This place is amazing and we have taken the kids on tours many times over the last 20 years. Getting a little up close and personal time with a Clydesdale is amazing. We love Grants Farm and highly recommend!!

We went here last summer and had a great time. The value for the price was great. We especially enjoyed the goat feeding and the bird feeding. Obviously this is a great place to bring kids, but we had fun as childless adults. Other than a young lady (who seemed to dislike people) working at the goat food stand, all the staff were very nice. The staff was mostly a combination of young people and seniors, and it was nice seeing the different generations working so well together and seeming to have just as much fun being there as the guests. We're city dwellers, so we're not used to being on any sort of farm. But, from our limited understanding of such things, this seemed like a very clean place with well cared for animals. I'd definitely recommend coming here if you're visiting St Louis.

If you haven't been to Summer Nights at Grant's farm it is definitely worth the price of admission. If you're lucky enough to live within biking distance there is no charge to use the bike rack. Last night was epic. Great music, courtesy of Push the Limit, an awesome drone show, and of course, food, drinks, and a lively beer garden.

We had an absolute blast this afternoon at Grant’s Farm. Don’t be fooled, it isn’t ALL Clydesdales and beer…although the beautiful draft horses are a sight to behold and there is definitely plenty of beer :). The tram ride reveals so much more wildlife as well as the petting/feeding part of the property. The staff was wonderful! We spoke a great deal to Mr Walter over our beer samples and enjoyed his conversation very much! Our kids LOVED feeding the baby goats and petting all the other animals as they stood at the fence.

Fantastic place to visit. General Admission is free after you pay for a parking pass. We paid $16 in advance online. The shuttle ride through Deer Park was incredible before you even enter Grant's Farm. You see all sorts of animals from 6 continents! Lots of experiences you can pay extra for inside the farm. I choose to pay $2 for a bottle of milk to feed baby goats. The last stop is a beer garden where adults over 21 receive 2 free adult beverages. There is also food available for purchase. The gift shop is pretty good on the way out. Before you leave I recommend visiting the Clydesdales in the back of the parking lot. Also, on the way home, visit Federhofers Bakery for sweet treats, you're welcome.

Such a fun spot! Would highly recommend giving this place a try and even more so recommend paying for a baby bottle ($3) to feed the baby goats! Other than the optional add ons like camel riding or animal feeding, you just have to pay the farming fee. A trolly will take you through some of the property and you get up close and personal with the animals along the drive. You also get 2 free samples, which are actually just full sized drinks or cans, with entry!

Great fun! Quite a bit to see and do. Watch out for the parakeet attraction! We choose not to do it, but watched others. Several came out bleeding as the little birds can be quite aggressive with their search for food! Our favorite was feeding the baby goats. So cute! All animals are clearly well cared for and in great health. Really appreciated seeing that.

Very cute and fun farm to visit! It’s really large and there are a lot of different animals. The history is also pretty interesting.
It is free to enter but we had to pay $19 to park (Labor Day- don’t know if pricing was different for the holiday). The ride was comfortable and it was accommodating of strollers, wheelchairs, etc.
The goat area is particularly fun, especially with children. You can feed the goats milk for like $2 if you choose. There are also other options to feed the older goats or ride camels. We spent about 1.5 to 2 hours there but probably could’ve spent about 2-3 hours there.
Definitely would recommend as a fun activity in the St. Louis area! The staff are also very kind! It’s well maintained.
I also appreciated the breastfeeding options for moms here - there are a few private rooms and areas for changing diapers.

Had a lot if fun there with my 3yr old granddaughter. Lots to do to keep her going. Staff was on hand watching which was good since older kids were getting out of hand. We will b back soon! Had India theme to show kids different places around the world it was fun and educational.

Active duty military families get in FREE! We visited while PCSing and it was such a nice time for the kids to get out and run around. Our 2 year old loved it! And our 9 month old thought it was fine. So much to see and do and so much staff around cleaning and helping to keep an eye out.
Laura Humphrey — Google review
The entire children’s museum is exceptionally designed. The only issues I had in the early morning, was we weren’t allowed to wait in the lobby 10 min prior to the doors opening just above freezing. The monitor at the Italian exhibit hovered over my 2 yr old, saying he couldn’t pick up the rocks from the fountain when he walked by. She remained close and continued to give micro directives, even though my little is well mannered and calm. There was exposed steel threads at the veterinary wash station & I loved that they have a dedicated hotline to text if a customer finds an unsafe issue with an exhibit.
We noticed that there are so many dedicated stations for all ages. The entire building caters to the whole family. We didn’t eat at the cafe, but prices seemed very reasonable and the attendants that worked there are the friendliest of all the staff.
There are stroller parking spots and the hallways are very large as you navigate these connected buildings. It took us about 6 1/2 hours to make our way through the entire museum. It’s ADA compliant up until the toddler play area with high narrow passages in a treehouse-type of build.

What a fun place!
Active duty military and family are FREE for entry! Great deal! My friend had a membership. My daughter is 6 and it was perfect for her. I think my older boys 9 and 10 would have been too old for it. I feel it is more for kids 8 and younger.
We spent several hours there. The place seemed clean. The employees were quick to clean up play areas. The grounds are beautiful.
We’d have to check out the STEM area my friend told me about for the older boys.
Parking lot is big and we found a spot in the back even when the “lot full” sign was as out. The place was busy for a Friday afternoon.
If you’re looking for a place to run your kids energy out, this is great.

An amazing children’s museum. Something for everyone. We were able to get through it in a few hours, but definitely could have spent a lot longer exploring. We did split up so we could follow the interests of the children, so if possible, go with multiple adults. I had fun, too, but I can be a big kid, so we had fun playing in the courtroom and Oval Office.

This is a fun and educational place with plenty of activities for all ages. While there is an emphasis on younger children activities, many activities can be still fun for older children. There are also other activities that are clearly targeted to older children.
There are a number of activities and areas to choose including traveling exhibits. They also include some detailed explanations on the science that makes it all possible.
Membership is a bonus and highly recommended. Once in, most everything is free. We go throughout the year and have noticed weekends and summer to generally be the busiest. Even when busy, there is still ample parking and space to play without long waits.
If you have not been, make sure to stop and be prepared to easily spend a few hours. It is definitely worth the trip and fun for all ages!

Pure chaos at times but so fun for parents and kids! So many rooms and levels to explore together and interactive elements throughout. My kids especially loved the "town" area and enjoyed playing "grown up". We brought out of town guests who loved it as well. Seasonally there is even an outdoor area to play. We at lunch on site and stayed most of the day. Pretty pricy if you don't live locally for a membership. Nice treat out for the family. I'd recommend!

Highly recommend! Especially for those up to age 8 or 9. So much variety of activities. They also have a quiet room that allows an area to take a calming break if needed or a private area for nursing. My grandson loved all of the activities. Great staff. We could have stayed all day. They have a cafe but there are also good food choices close, so you can take a break and come back.

This place had so many interactive areas for kids to explore and learn. If its your first time, suggest to your kids to tour the entire facility and then pick out a few of the most interesting activities to start with. Plan on spending at least 2-3 hours exploring. The place was packed when we arrived at about 11am, but it started to clear out some by 2 pm. The entrance was in an odd place. You had to go around the back of the building and walk and walk all the way to the front. We were in town for only a short time, but it was still a great experience for my grandkids, ages 8 and 6. I wish adult entry was half the price of the admission; the adults are just the supervisors of the kids.

This place is truly pure magic. I hadn’t been back in over 20 years since I was a child and it was even better than I remembered. There are different elements to play, create, learn, and explore around every corner. Hours are easy to be spent here with a combination of gross motor play, independent play, or parallel play with other children. Our children attended at 5.5 and 3 years old and the exhibits kept both interested and excited. We adore the Magic House!

Lots of fun things for the kiddos to do. Everything seems to be covered in the entry price which is really nice. There's so many different areas, so it could be a little tricky with littles, so be sure to take that into consideration. Otherwise, the kiddos will have a blast!!
Some of the fun things we did were: big slide, playing in sand (only with hands, they can't get in it), static ball that makes their hair stand up, play in a NICU scene, play in a veterinary clinic, play in a restaurant, work on a car, fishing with a magnet on a pole, indoor playground, explored pulley systems, bubble room, and so much more!

We went on New Year’s Eve so it was VERY crowded for the noon celebration. However, after the crowd cleared out it was big enough it there was plenty to do. The kids loved all of the different areas, especially spending time in the Italy exhibit. We have been to several children’s museums across the country and this is one of our favorites the kids often request to go to.
Also, appreciate they offer reciprocal benefits for children’s museums so the entrance fee was 50%. They also have a generous military discount allowing for free entry.

This place is a very cool place to visit with your child. It seems to be a little smaller than I remember or maybe there is construction going on but it seemed a little small. I would probably see if there’s a way to get a discount next time full price is probably not the best idea. Also seems like a lot of administrative offices nowadays I wish they would move those to a different building and just utilize this for children play only. All in all still an awesome place.

This museum focuses just on the Civil War as it relates to Missouri history. While many Civil War museums go through the entire panorama of the conflict, this one gives personal and specific stories about the local area. And, of course, it is located on the site of an historic military base. If you watch all of the videos, plan on at least 1.5 hours.

I'm local and embarrassed to say I didn't know this gem exists. If you're at all interested in the subject, it's fantastic. The entire project was volunteer/donor funded and executed. No government funds were used and it's a model of private support for a public good. On to the museum...
The renovation to the building is of very high quality. It was originally the Post exchange and Gym, but was used as a hospital ward and various other purposes before sitting empty and in disrepair for years. Many truly original details are missing, but the mezzanine running track and railing along with a few other great components remain. What has been replaced is well done and in keeping with the building.
There are two intro videos early on and both are well done. The first provides background on the building and the second focuses on the Missouri Compromise and other preludes to secession. It's very much worth watching both and they provide good context for the displays.
The displays are well organized, content is explained in nice bite sized pieces and they are all spotless. There's representation of both the North and South with the obvious goal to tell the stories of those represented and let the visitor develop their own understanding.
Some objects that surprised me that were great to see:
* A sitting chair that a Union General bought from the estate of Mary Todd Lincoln.
* A cane the same General had made from brass and wood that originated on the USS Constitution (Old Ironsides), the world's oldest ship that is still afloat. (Her tour in Boston is also Don't Miss.)
* A First Edition of Uncle Tom's Cabin.
* A toy - but functional - black powder cannon made from scrap materials recovered from the Eads Bridge construction.
* A spyglass used at Gettysburg (!!!)
* Other: LOTS of period weapons in excellent condition, a display medical, um, "technology" of the day and complete uniforms.
If this doesn't get you excited about making plans to go, you probably shouldn't. Admission was $7 with discounts for students, seniors and members. I spent about 3 hours and only finished the main floor. Will go back to walk the lower level. Bonus in August: The AC works GREAT!

This place had an overall great overhaul of exhibits ranging from rifles and handguns to equipment, clothing, and books from the civil war era. They also have this really nice souvenir shop with all sorts of books, toys, flags, and hats you can buy. Overall, they represented both sides of the war equally and didn't show any bias against the north or the south. Great museum to visit!

Very well kept. Lots of interesting artifacts. Friendly staff. A bit pricey for the experience (without discounts).
Lone Elk Park is a vast area with scenic driving routes that offer the opportunity to observe various wildlife, including elk, bison, and deer. The park also boasts of a bird sanctuary. Visitors can enjoy walking trails and have a picnic while communing with nature. There is an impressive lookout point at the start of the drive, which provides fantastic views. Entrance into the park requires only a donation, making it accessible to everyone who loves nature and outdoor activities.
Lone elk is very cool. Our family has been only 3 times now but it's been a few great experiences. You can walk trails get to see the bison, elk, deer and they even have a bird sanctuary. Although I haven't been to see the birds. There is a pretty cool lookout at the beginning of the drive. We went on a trail our last time there and got to see some bison up close. Not too close... just a great place to go and see nature and have a nice picnic.
Oh we also found a dog statue I believe was a good cache. We wasn't doing the geo caches but we spotted the dog.. apologies for the camera focus.

Went for a fall foliage trip with family and friends. Very well maintained, accessible and great spots.
We spent a lot of time in the bird sanctuary - and started the Lone Elk drive around 4.30pm.. unfortunately we dint sight much elks or bisons. (I guess that’s late for them - so plan accordingly)

Free for the public! Saw lots of elk, but no bison. Not sure where they were hiding but still had fun. It’s nice to drive through and isn’t too far away! There’s a donation box which is nice because they don’t charge. Large pond which you can make reservations to fish in.

Lone Elk Park is such a magical place. From the sun beaming down on the lake with the hills surrounding it as you are driving. The grasslands, the wooded areas and the beautiful animals roaming around. The bison, the elk, deer, birds and other local wild life just living their little lives. This is a perfect park to just have your windows down, no music and to just enjoy nature. I often like to sit down and watch what the animals are doing for hours on end watching them graze and live life just as we do. This is a perfect place to take your family and boy do the animals get close so be careful!

Lone Elk Park is a gem in the St. Louis area. This park is over 500 acres and is is filled with wildlife. You can see elk, deer, bison, wild turkeys and other birds. It is also free to enter. (There is a donation box if you wish to give to the park.)
What makes it great is the options you have to see the wildlife. You can drive through the park or utilize the hiking trails. You can even fish there, but you need to make a reservation ahead of time. There are also shelters that you can reserve.
If you drive, be sure to take your time. (There are also spots where you can pull over, get out of your vehicle and let others pass.) It can be hit or miss on what wildlife you see. They say morning - before 8:00 am - is the best time to see the animals, because they feed the animals first thing in the morning.
However, on this trip, we went through around 11:00 am and saw elk, deer, bison and waterfowl. They were even close to the road and easy to view. (See pictures.)
Tip: You don't need all day at the park. You can drive the park in a relatively short amount of time if you wish. (20-30 minutes.) It is also close to the interstate.
Things to know:
- No motorcycles
- No pets, even if they are confined to the vehicle.
- Review their website for additional information
So, if you live in the area or are just passing through, be sure to make time to swing by Lone Elk Park. You won't be disappointed!

Lone Elk Park is a beautiful place to hike or just drive your car through to see the Bison or the elk they have picnic table to eat or just to enjoy a beautiful day . If you like hiking it's worth doing the white Bison trail you will definitely see a elk hiking and can take a picture if you want to .the trail is a 5 or 6 miles but worth it or worth the drive depending where you live .you can see the bison on your way out normally they seem to like to sit down from the hiking trail .

Heard about this from one of my friends, I had no clue it existed so close to the city. Went here multiple times and it was nice to see the wild animals up close but somewhat safe in your car. Sometimes we did go a bit early, pay attention to the opening hours as we had to wait a bit. Overall amazing driving path and nice to see to get away from the busy city.

The animals were abundant on this beautiful day in September. Some days I do not get to see this many. This is a great place for all ages. Lone Elk reminds me of my great grandmother and uncle who brought me along for the rides when I was young.

Absolutely beautiful place. Hidden gem in the St. Louis, MO trip. We had to kill a whole afternoon and evening before our flight out. This was a stress free ride through, seeing elks, bisons, friendly raccoons acting cute (don't fall for it) as you drive by. We took the loop twice. Nature's beauty at it's best.

What a gem. If you are a nature or animal lover, this park is incredible. You can drive through the park and see elk and bison, possibly up close. When I was driving through the park there were about 10 elk swimming in the lake, a young bull elk stopping cars by walking in the middle of the road, a small pack of bison were in a pasture about 50 yards from the road, a mother raccoon was leading her 3 baby raccoons safely across the road and there were 3 massive bull elk relaxing along Elk Hollow Road.

This was my first visit to the park, and I enjoyed it very much. The Elk were definitely out and literally right next to the car! Unfortunately, we didn't get to see any Bison, even though we drove thru the area at least five times trying to spot some. We saw a family of raccoons and a herd of Elk cooling off in the lake on the property.

Visited an amazing park where we saw elk, deer, geese, and even bison—all from the comfort of our car! It was an unforgettable wildlife viewing experience, and we didn't even have to step out of our vehicle. Nature's wonders at their finest!

We always love going here to see the animals! We love to donate to help with the services provided by the park. There are pavilions, hiking trails and bbq pits. Tons of elk, bison and deer! Best part is the park is very well kept up as far as trash and roads.

My favourite place during fall!!!
It it one of the most beautiful place in St louis if u wanna experience the beauties of nature and walk with elks.
It would be a good idea to take some snacks and go around sunset. You can see the lake and the trees in the golden hour. We had a binoculars which was very handy.

Beautiful park with nice hiking trails. The park is well maintained and the animals are always fun to see! However, the visitors maybe need even larger “stay in your vehicle” or “do not approach animals” signs. (Sarcasm of course!)
Every time we visit, some dumb dumb is within charging distance of the animals.. like these two ladies literally within 10ft of the bison today.. they may look docile but can kill you. Don’t be stupid.

The place is amazing…
It’s very beautiful to see Bisons, elks and lots of deer roaming freely around.
It’s free of charge and must say it’s one of the hidden gem near St. Louis.
The overall vibe of the park is very good.

Looking for a budget-friendly getaway? Explore Lone Elk Park – it operates on donations and offers a scenic drive-through experience. Encounter bison, elk, and raccoons freely roaming throughout the park. A gentle reminder: refrain from feeding the animals.

Nice place to get out of the city for a few minutes. Would like to come back when it's a little warmer but enjoyed seeing the elk and bison. Smaller than what I thought it was but still nice.
Bathrooms were down for maintenance, but porta johns were in place if needed.

Lone Elk Park is just west of St Louis and a pretty neat place to drive or walk through. Get close to bison and elk in your car, or get out and walk along the paths that get you even closer! There are places to picnic and spend time with a small group.
