The Moviehouse & Eatery by Cinépolis is a modern cinema with 8 dine-in theaters boasting comfortable plush recliners and attentive waiters. The lobby bar and lounge offer specialty drinks, while food options include gluten-free choices. However, some patrons feel that the cost of food is not commensurate with its quality, describing the chicken sandwich as being akin to a chicken strip and the pizza tasting floury.
Seriously though… they have better food service than most restaurants these days. And I’m not talking about all M&Es, just this location. They must have management with exceptional hiring skills. Super competent staff! I ended up here by accident, but I will drive this way in the future.

I was very disappointed in the condition of the seats at Keller Movie-house last night. The food & service was really good but the seats are torn up! It’s such a nice theater to be so run down. We were shocked. My daughter had to move to another seat that actually worked. Almost all of the seating near us was in the same condition. It’s definitely not going to draw more business when the other theaters nearby are in better shape. It’s a shame, especially considering the prices are so high. I hope y’all can get it all updated. It would be really sad to see it go out of business. We’ve always loved it there.

This place is nice & clean! Recliner seats and spacious rows. It seems like every seat would be a good seat here. I was surprised that tickets were not expensive but the food they sell probably makes up for it. Can be a bit pricey, just keep that in mind. Employees were kind and dine in service is quick! I definitely recommend the churro donut. So tasty 😋
Will definitely return. 💯

Food is expensive for what you get. Ordered the spicy chicken sandwich. It was good but the chicken was basically a chicken strip. Pizza tasted like it was covered in flour. The specialty drinks are good but small for the price. Theater 4 really needs new seats. Most of the seats on our row are extremely worn out.

We had a good first experience at this theater. The seats are old, yes, but I'm not there to look at the seats. Good views from all. The theater rooms look wide and shallow when you reserve seats online but they're actually narrow and deep. The seats were comfy and I love the recline feature. The food was good and service was great. Fountain drinks are absurdly expensive but it's a theater, I guess. We spent $50 + tip between two people just for dinner, and I had water.
The women's bathroom next to theater 3 only had one soap dispenser; one set of two sinks (they're weirdly separate from the other set of two sinks) had no soap at all. Bathroom and theater were about as clean as you can expect in a movie theater.
Samantha Durrance (Belicek) — Google review
I really enjoy going to the movie here; the theater itself is very nice, and the food and service are good. My only complaint is that sometimes the table trays at the seats are not cleaned very well and sometimes the seats themselves have popcorn or food in them. Also, some of the seats need to be replaced or recovered; the upholstery is split and torn which makes it a little uncomfortable to sit on.

Really good food, with gluten free hamburger bun and pizza options. Love the reclining seats. Very clean. Service is decent. Had trouble accepting two forms of payment. And waiter offered opinion on my drink selection when it was not asked.
In terms of comparison with Alamo Drafthouse, better food, however missing quirky Alamo quality previews and atmosphere.

It was our first time experiencing such establishment. Recliners were comfy, employees were nice, clean place. Good selection of food; a little pricey but understandable. Nice seating area. You can order food while watching the movie and they will bring food to you. We will go again.

Tad bit expensive ($13 for an afternoon ticket) but the seats were nice and comfy, bar was adequate to get your drink on and although I didn't try the food, they certainly had quite the selection, including gluten-free options! Overall pretty good, will go again

Good atmosphere but not as clean as before. The service still rocks! The food a little high in price for what is given. For example the truffle fries tasted good but the fries looked like McDonald's fries. For the price, the fries should have been freshly cut potatoes fried 2x for a smooth potato on the inside and a nice crunch on the outside. Come on Moviehouse Eatery...step it up. We know that prices have escalated after the pandemic but consumers still want quality for the extra cost.

It's a small but decent luxury movie theater. The seats reclined decently. I felt that they really need to do some maintenance though because the seats are starting to show lots of wear. The staff taking orders was young but polite. I did have a problem getting someone to get me a spoon and paying. We has to find someone on our way out the door to pay.
Elizabeth Spracklen — Google review
I love this theater. It is so comfortable. You are not crammed in. You get a wide, reclining seat with a pivoting tray. You can pull up the menu with your phone. Then when your server comes around you tell them what you want. You have a choice of a meal or snacks with a drink or bottomless drinks. We went to see "Sound of Freedom". A wonderful movie, in a wonderful theater. The only downfall is the menu is a little pricey but with theaters needing to make up for lower sales since covid, it's too be expected. This is my new "go to" theater. If you are thinking of going, don't hesitate, just go. You won't regret it.
Cheryl Ehrhart Hodges — Google review
This place is pretty good. Decent food. Super friendly service. Their theater seating is really worn out. Some of it has worn patches and holes. They have got to do something about that. One seat I passed had tape on it!

Really great experience. Such comfortable seating I fell asleep for a minute! Great food and drink options and the popcorn is perfect.

I’m posting this for others but I’m fully aware that I should’ve asked prior to ordering anything. Check the pricing. We’ve been going to this theatre for years but it hasn’t been the same since Cinepolis took it over. The recliners are nice and the staff is usually great. The biggest negative is the food pricing. It’s great food but insanely expensive. I could be mistaken but I don’t think anything had pricing on the menu. My wife ordered a sprite and the three cookie dish while my son got m&ms and a kid’s sprite. The bill was around $30. The biggest shock was $8.50 for a five ounce plastic bag of candy that usually runs $3 or so in the store. The menu also had it labeled as a “candy cup-enough to share”. They use to give you a decent sized plastic cup full of whatever candy you wanted but it’s no longer the case so I’m not sure why it’s advertised as such. We love this theatre and don’t mind paying the higher prices for the luxury seats but it would be nice to be able to go to the movies as two adults and a child without spending nearly $100 between tickets and food. This is why we don’t go nearly as much as we used to, it’s just not affordable.
River Revival — Google review
Last time we went, a couple of weeks ago, it was very disappointing. Broken chairs, dirty seats, poor service and very high price for not-that-great food. It was just a few people, so there was no excuse for not cleaning before the new show. The place looks like is falling apart and neglected, but the prices are still high. So sad about this, because it sure was nice to stay in Keller for a good movie experience. Oh, well. We tried. :(
Maria Baker — Google review
Love this place! We've been coming here for years. My only suggestions would be to come a little faster on drink refills, and the seats are looking very old and damaged. It's time for them to be repaired or replaced! I'm actually surprised that they haven't budgeted for new ones yet. They've looked damaged for a few years now.
Tonya Scalise — Google review
Fun date night but a tad overpriced for a movie. Seats were comfortable but hard to sit up and eat. Bathrooms were clean and bar area was very nice. We will definitely go back for a top rated movie about 2 or 3 times a year but not every movie. Food was excellent. We had the pretzels, quesadillas, and shrimp.
Stephen Parker — Google review
We have always loved going to the theaters with recliners and dine-in service. An added bonus if it's 21+.
The seats were good.
The place was clean.
The bar was epic.
The sound and movie were solid.
The food selection was abysmal...
Seriously, the selection was good for what the place is but every item we ordered was just disappointing.
If I wanted to raid the freezer section of Walmart, I would; not pay $15 for a plate of frozen to fried that probably cost $2 to reheat.

My bf and I loved loved this place. Loved going down the steps into the big water one, and climbing the mountain. We loved it so much we went 4 times before we left. Can't wait to come back again, but bring my little with me! Very peaceful for being right in the middle of a city.

I’ve come here my whole life! My sister lives in a building nearby, but I’ve been coming here since I was 6 years old. As far as upkeep, it’s good. It’s a fun place to take photos. It’s a safe place too, and it’s the exact same as I remember except the walls on the side water garden was not working.

Absolutely loved visiting the Fort Worth Water Garden. I went in the evening right before sunset and it was a serene oasis where the soothing sound of water instantly relaxed me. The best part? No entry fee! The ambiance is truly enchanting, especially when the temperature isn't scorching. Strolling through the beautifully designed landscape, with the gentle cascade of water in the background, is pure bliss. However, there was some trash in the water which I think should be cleaned daily to maintain the beauty of the place.

Amazing place to visit, my favorite in Fort Worth. Surprisingly loud near the bottom. Parking can be found cheap nearby at the parking meters. Gotta be careful not to slip on the wet rocks.
They also have 3 other attractions next to it. A pool, 20 rock steps, and a water fountain. Great free experience.
Justin Villa — Google review
The Fort Worth Water Gardens is a tranquil oasis featuring cascading waterfalls, serene pools, and unique architectural elements. Its design creates a soothing atmosphere, making it a delightful place for visitors seeking relaxation and natural beauty. Winding pathways lead you through diverse water features, from the active aerating pool to the quiet meditation pool. The urban oasis provides a refreshing escape in the heart of Fort Worth, offering a blend of modern design and peaceful surroundings. It's a must-visit for those who appreciate both nature and artistry. The Water Gardens' iconic "Mountain" and "Active Pool" showcase the harmony of water and architecture, while the "Aerating Pool" with its misty atmosphere adds a touch of mystique. The experience is not just visual; the sound of cascading water and the feel of cool mist create a multisensory retreat within the city. It's a place where you can unwind and immerse yourself in the serenity of flowing water and greenery.

A great day to see the Water Gardens! Parking was fine. What was really nice was it felt like we had the place to ourselves. We went on a Wednesday around noon. Beautiful even in the winter.

The beautiful Fort Worth Water Gardens are a refreshing oasis located at the south of downtown by the Fort Worth Convention Center. Parking isn’t too much of a hassle but most visitors park at the meters on the sides of the street of Houston and Commerce. There’s no admission fee, it’s open to the public. This relaxing urban park encourages quiet meditation and tranquility, which also makes it a favorite tourist attraction. It features a variety of water pools for visitors to experience and enjoy any time of the year. You can also make reservations to rent out a particular area of the park for special events. What I love about this place is that it’s therapeutic for the mind and body. Sometimes we just need a breath of fresh air where we can feel at peace and not have to worry. I desire a peaceful environment so this is one of my favorite places to visit no matter how I’m feeling. In the evening time, the lights in the park illuminate the experience to another level. If you just so happen to be in Fort Worth, visiting the park is a place to create memorable experiences and spend quality time by yourself or with family and friends.

Great way to decompress after a long day of work. The water gardens is a 5min walk from the downtown hotels. I went during the week after working hours, it was never packed. If you are into meditation/ reflection this is a great spot to go within and recharge with the elements.

What a cool spot!! I discovered this place while researching for our family Vacay. I wasn’t sure what to expect - but it was EXTREMELY cool! My whole family enjoyed it. We even found a nice, shaded spot to sit and enjoy it. E ethane should definitely go see this spot! It seemed so random - but so relaxing and fun! Also - it’s free!
Ashley Geyer — Google review
While I visited, a couple of the attractions were down, but with a little imagination, you can get an idea of how cool the place is. Despite being in the middle of Ft. Worth proper, the only cue that you're in the city is the high rises. Even then, the foliage and architecture do a great job of dampening the effects of the city. You could easily chill or read a book in the Quiet Water Pool. This feature wasn't on during my trip though. The active water garden was very interactive, allowing you to walk down the design. When you get to the bottom, it's a weird sensation because the water cascading around you gives you the sense that the world is collapsing around you. I suspect it could make some people a bit dizzy as they ascend back to the top of the feature, so keep that in mind.
I wish more of the features were on, but they look cool in the videos I saw online. Nonetheless, during the beginning of the week when Ft. Worth is quiet, this would be a great place to gather one's thoughts and reset! It's worth an hour of your time.

This place is beautiful!!!!! Definitely worth the visit and to take photos! The sound of the rushing water is so peaceful and relaxing. There’s even a quiet pool!! You do have to meter park to visit. I brought a wagon and there wasn’t a lot of ramps. There’s a lot of stairs so parts of the gardens we were unable to see but even with that it was well worth the visit!

Super location. Multiple different water features to view, along with the one used in "Logan's Run".
A nice quiet spot to sit and people watch on a Sunday morning.
Please be careful on the steps if you walk down them, as one or two are slippery.

Absolutely amazing to see. Plenty of parking around the park. Easy walk through to the different areas. Even better if you're a fan of Logan's run
David Nilsen — Google review
No tickets needed. There is no admission or gate. For a free park, it was very nice. There are 3 pools and one concrete structure there are features: active pool, aerated pool, quiet pool, and “the mountain”. The active pool allows guests to walk down into a waterfall on concrete steps. It’s very cool! But it feels very unsafe for children or elderly individuals.
Parking is street parking (as far as I saw). You have to download an app called “FW Park”. It was free parking when we went.
Overall, a really cool little place to stop. It’s more of a “stretch your legs” place and less of a “final destination”.

Pretty nice water gardens for what it's worth. About 20min to walk and wander around. There were traces of minerals on the walls (by the water) so there's one way in which could be better maintained.

Loved it for a quick outing. It would be lovely in summer when all the trees have leaves. Not sure if they have events here, but it would make a nice spot for that purpose. Lovely setting for wedding photography

Very beautiful. Seems very dangerous though for little kids. I was surprised how many people were just letting their kids go up and down these dangerous steps with no handrails or any sort of safety precautions. I read that 4 people died there back in 2004 and I am not surprised. It said no swimming at each pool but of course people were letting their little kids wade in the quiet pool. I would highly recommend for adults. Maybe not safe for kids.
Sundance Square is a lively downtown area that caters to pedestrians and boasts several fashion chains, Western-wear shops, sports bars, and steakhouses. It serves as an entertainment hub where one can catch small theater performances or concerts at the Sundance Square Plaza or the Bass Performance Hall. The latter hosts opera, ballets, and classical music. Additionally, visitors can unwind at Fort Worth Water Gardens Park's peaceful pools and waterfalls.
The business center of Fort Worth, Texas is the Stockyards National Historic District. This district covers 98 acres and features a variety of restored buildings from the late 19th century, when the city was known for its cattle industry. Today, the Stockyards is a tourist attraction with cowboy-themed shops and restaurants.
Saw the cattle drive which was very cool! Some gigantic horns on the cattle that came through. It was cool to experience traditional Texas culture that way. Lot's of interesting shops in the area as well. If you want a sense of Texas culture, this is a place to go.

Great experience! You must be there on time for the longhorn steer street parade. This 140 year plus historic center of live stock processing/sales tells a great story about the early years of this industry. There are many great attractions, restaurants and bars close by to enjoy. Parking is plentiful, but be prepared to walk as it's required to enjoy the full experience. FOLLOW ME for more thoughtful recommendations as I travel the world 🌎

For someone who's never been to Texas and who loves Western vibes, this was such a cool visit! The sculptures and buildings were lovely and it was great to see the Coliseum where there's still rodeos today. Unfortunately on this occasion I missed the longhorns running the street but I'll def check that out on my next visit. So much history here......

Popular tourist spot but great for tourists and locals alike. Lots of fun things for kids. Cool area to walk around, see the animals. The petting zoo was fun ($5 to get in, $3 for a cup of seeds that lasted well). Longhorns are definitely cool to see in person. Lots of shopping and restaurants. Lots to see and do. Parking all over. There’s a long narrow lot that’s east access without dealing with driving down the main drag - $15 on the weekend (all day)

This place was amazing. So much to see and do. Loved the cattle drive, the horse drawn carriage ride, being able to get pictures of my mom sitting on a bull, and the live entertainment. The John Wayne museum was also very interesting.
Just be prepared EVERYTHING/EVERYWHERE IS CREDIT CARD ONLY - NO CASH. Also would highly recommend using the valet parking service.

Went in December on a Monday morning so not much was happening. There was some Christmas activities going on like ice skating and pictures with santa. Not a whole lot of people were around so it was nice to walk around without people or traffic.
I walked past this bizarre storage room of interesting taxidermy. Since it's winter the train wasn't running through the station to drop and pick people up. The cattle drive was kind of fun but also a bit uneventful. They just walked past us normally.

Cool and interesting place to check out, they do cattle drive 2x daily, at 11:30 and 4pm. There are shops and restaurants you can eat nearby. Kids loved the pony rides at $8 a person, we also did the horse ride at $15 per person, and mini train ride at $5 a person. Bathroom on the outside by the trailer is cleaner!

Loved the Stockyards! The cattle drive is really cool and the staff was great fun. The shops on the main drag are expensive unless you really want high-end cowboy clothes, but all the shops down at the depot are fun for souvenirs and bargains. Would definitely go here again.

This is definitely a must-do if you ever find yourself in Fort Worth. The Historic Stockyards do not disappoint one bit. There are many shops, restaurants, shows, and other activities that will give you almost a full day of fun. As you walk down the Stockyard Strip (Exchange Ave), the smell of smoked BBQ will delight your senses. Horse drawn carriage rides are available, as well as photo opportunities with some real longhorn steer. Twice a day they have a cattle drive, it doesn’t last very long (roughly10 minutes), but it’s definitely worth it to see the longhorn steer parade down the road as they have daily for over 20 years.
Depending on when you choose to visit, parking can be a little challenging. There is paid parking on Exchange Ave, however, I recommend walking a little further to the main or side roads if you want to park for free.
I highly recommend the Fort Worth Stockyards for a unique Texas experience.

Such a cool place. If you’re in Fort Worth then the Stockyards should be top of your list to visit.
A real authentic cowboy town with loads to do for people of all ages. There is a cattle drive twice a day which is worth catching, there’s plenty of shops to browse as well as great places to eat and cool saloons for a drink and some live music.
We were a family with children aged 16, 13 and 8 and they all enjoyed it. Will definitely be coming back

It was way too hot. So we did lots of shopping to keep cool. Their parking lots suck. No card readers for us techno challenged folks. My sister and niece couldn't figure out how to pay by phone and ended up getting a $40 parking ticket. I drove my car and was able to pay using my PayPal so no parking ticket for me. But they should have a card reader. One of the shops I was in the employee said there are a lot of complaints regarding parking so beware, you better have a way to pay using your phone, otherwise you will get a ticket. It was so hot that they didn't have the longhorns walk through the streets like they normally do. But there was other fun stuff to do. You could do a trail ride on friendly horses, and right next to that was a petting zoo. Next time we'll go in the fall and not the summer. We went on a Wednesday and we were told more activities were available on weekends.

This is a wonderful family fun friendly place. The kids loved it. We loved it. Shops, fun activities, characters, mini-dramas, and the inside climate controlled full rodeo. Suggestion: buy your tickets online inadvanced. We didn't have bad seats, but didn't have a lot to choose from and would have liked to be closer than we were.

If you're in Dallas and you're looking for something different, this place is a MUST, specially if you're into cowboy vibes. There's a free-of-charge show everyday at 11:30am and 4:00pm, which consists of a "parade" with long horn cows and some guys riding horses, they explain the history of the place among other interesting facts. You can drink on the streets, there are plenty of bars and restaurants and it's also a good place for shopping. It's a place perfect for the family or simply to go with friends and have a good time. We all enjoyed it a lot.

Action packed entertainment from start to finish! If you have never been to a rodeo this is a must see if in Fort Worth. Stockyards features bull riding, bucking broncos, tie down roping of calves, and barrel racing. Events are held in the Cowtown Coliseum, an indoor rodeo so the weather does not matter. The Fort Worth Stockyards National Historic District portrays the Western heritage of the Texas livestock industry. Twice a day there is a well-attended longhorn cattle drive on the street. Truly an awesome way to spend a day.

Is it worth going, sure. Is there a lot to do aside from shopping and eating....ehhh.
We spent the whole day there and enjoyed our time. While there are things to do, including the herd and a few museums, it's mostly food and shopping over a majority of the place.
It's fun to walk around the area, and themed to match the history of the location.
Parking is by QR code. Something like $15/10hrs....something like that. There are on signs in the parking lot.

The best tourist's attraction in Fort Worth! Lots of people during the weekend (F U Covid!). The area was vacated last year but has since gained back its patrons! And I'm glad because this place has so much history and culture. There is the rodeo, the museum of cattle trading, the historic buildings converted to hotels and restaurants. Two of my favorite BBQ places are in this area.

Saw the Cattle Drive today and also saw it in December close to Christmas time and it was absolutely amazing both times. Before it started there was this awesome Texan there talking about the history and it was quite fascinating, I learned so much.
We got to take pics with the longhorn and see the cows which was awesome.
The entire street, the look, the stores are all worth it. It was absolutely amazing.

I was bracing myself for a tourist trap but I was very wrong.
Friendliness:
Firstly, everyone working in the stores and restaurants I visited and the staff involved in the shows and attractions were very welcoming and friendly. The prices for food, souvenirs and attractions are normal and reasonable. No price gouging in any of the places I visited.
Attractions:
There’s something for everyone in the family. The cattle drive is entertaining and the comedy shootout show afterwards is a must see. Carriage rides were also fun but I really enjoyed simply hanging out in the well maintained Exchange Ave where you can have beer while you walk around.
Parking rates ($16.50 a day) are expensive if you are visit only for couple of hours but worth it if you are spending a whole day. Furthermore, there is a good amount of parking. There were few empty spots close to all the attractions on a Saturday of memorial weekend around noon.

This is a great place to see some of the history of Texas. The area is full of restaurants and bars. You can also see live rodeo at night and watch cattle drives during the day. We saw one at high noon. Parking in the middle of the area seems limited. We had to use valet parking for our hotel. There are also several shops selling Texas style clothing and accessories.

Cute little tourist area. I loved the Fort Worth vibes. Similar to any main st. it's put together nicely with a lot of boutique food choices. If you need a hat or boots, they have you covered, too. My only complaint was the traffic on the street next to the stockyards and the food I had at a music place was unfortunately not tasty. Probably should have done the steakhouse.

Amazing place, walking in Fort Worth I felt like in film, beautiful atmosphere, beautiful people, authentic city, various shops and restaurants. You will not be disappointed! The sunny day made the atmosphere even better, the city was shining with Christmas decorations. Parking places are very close to the central street too.

Fun collection of shops built right on the historic stockyards. Pretty cool redevelopment concept and plenty to do, eat, or see. Would definitely recommend visiting if you're in Fort Worth.
Did not catch the cattle stampede but heard good things from people who had. Something for everyone here and quite kid friendly.

FREE event, Christmas parade was awesome! Good vibes, family atmosphere, lots of shops and very good and affordable restaurants. Plenty of parking lots, I think streets are free to park but not sure. We paid $17. Christmas tree is nice looking! There’s so much to see. Bring your beer!

We visited the stockyard to see the cattle drive. It’s a lot smaller than I had envisioned (maybe only 8 or 10 cows), but you can look at the cows in their pens. There’s lots of activities for kids such as pony rides, a maze, and a petting zoo.
The historic downtown area is really cool! There’s lots of fun stuff in the gift shops.
There’s a few parking lots, and the ones we saw allowed you to pay by scanning a QR code.

"Five stars for the Stockyards in Fort Worth, Texas! Visiting the Stockyards is like taking a step back in time to the wild west, with its rich history and vibrant atmosphere.
From the moment you arrive, you're greeted by the iconic sights and sounds of cowboy culture. The historic buildings and wooden sidewalks transport you to a bygone era, while the aroma of barbecue and the sound of live music fill the air.
The Stockyards offer something for everyone, whether you're a history buff, a foodie, or just looking for a good time. You can catch a thrilling rodeo at the Cowtown Coliseum, stroll down Exchange Avenue to shop for western wear and souvenirs, or grab a bite to eat at one of the many delicious restaurants serving up authentic Texas cuisine.
But perhaps the best part of the Stockyards is the sense of community and camaraderie that permeates the area. Whether you're chatting with locals at a saloon or watching the daily cattle drive down Exchange Avenue, you can't help but feel like you're part of something special.
Overall, the Stockyards in Fort Worth is a must-visit destination for anyone looking to experience the true spirit of Texas. With its rich history, lively atmosphere, and endless entertainment options, it's no wonder it's become a beloved cultural landmark. Five stars all around!"

Awesome! Amazing! We had a great time all day. We visited the John Wayne Museum, the Stockyard Museum and the Cowboy Museum. We watched the cattle drive twice and had the best steak I have EVER eaten. Love this place!!

Great place to visit, shop, eat and have a fun experience with the Texas longhorns. It's a unique experience getting to watch those massive bulls walk down the center of town. If you are in the area, this is a must!

I am from out of town in this place is a must for any out of towner. Lots of shopping lots of food lots of things to see. If you go at certain times you can see the steers walk through the street. Very cool place to check out. If you get lucky you might be able to even catch a rodeo.

Five of us visited after arriving in Dallas for a conference, easy to find, plenty of parking and cowboys on every corner.
Plenty of bars and food outlets, horse carriage rides and lots of history to take in.
We didn’t see a show but they are meant to be amazing, if you want to enjoy cars and trucks riding round then you will get to enjoy these also.
If you want dancing lessons you can find these on offer on a Tuesday and Sunday at a bar right at the top of the hill. Very good and they are really helpful teaching you the correct steps.
The Fort Worth Zoo is a world-class zoo with a huge variety of animals. The zoo is very family friendly and perfect for visitors of all ages. The zoo regularly ranks as one of the best zoos in the United States and is home to over 7,000 animals!
Was an amazing experience at the Fort Worth Zoo! Went with my mom and my sister and we had so much fun. There's lots to explore and so much to see even though some of the exhibits were closed due to expanding some of the habitats. We went on a Saturday during nice weather and it was crowded. We rode the train and went to the Stingray area. Saw all the animals that were out and all three of us enjoyed the experience. We will be going back when the other animals are back and would recommend you go enjoy the experience. Before we left we all got cute animal plushies and a back for them to commemorate our time we spent there at the zoo.

Came here on a Saturday around 3pm. Parking was $5 just right outside the main entrance and there were plenty of spots. Tickets that day were $18 for adult at the gate, and $17 if you buy it online. This zoo was pretty nice and was extremely family friendly. There were attractions for kids and adults so it's suitable for all age groups. A good variety of animals at this zoo. They had a petting zoo which was fun. I enjoyed the giraffes the most even though I did not get a chance to feed them. I enjoyed my time here.

I visited for the first time in April on a weekend - it was my first time visiting a zoo in nearly a decade. Prices were fair - $5 parking and $17 per ticket if purchased online. The weather was perfect in Texas and the crowd was quite large, too.
The grounds and restrooms are well kept. Kudos to the staff.
Majority of the animals were active. There are numerous exhibits to visit and enjoy. It was a great experience overall and took us about 2-3 hours to explore.

Fort Worth Zoo, was very nice. They had a lot of great animals that were fairly active in the morning. The exhibits gave multiple angles of most of the animals and was pretty relaxing. Pathways are smooth and big enough to support light traffic. Tickets can be bought on site or online. Parking is 5$ the lot seems adequate. Went on a Sunday morning was a little busy but not too crazy. Takes about 2-3 hours to see the zoo but you could spend more time if you wanted too. I’d definitely recommend checking it out if your in the area.

It has been a wonderful experience. Seeing all these cute animals so close has been wonderful. Perfect to enjoy a good time with the family and treasure some memories. What if I recommend it to you? Of course, the kids will love it. recommendations? You can go on Wednesdays, it's half price. You can bring an umbrella and your own water if you wish.

There's a lot of beauty and a lot to last about mammals, birds, aquatic life, and more. The wild West section is so fun. I loved the flamingos who are there to greet you at the entrance. Ibex are fun to watch scale mountains. Giraffe, leopard, rhino, ostrich, elephant. There are a couple of spots to enjoy air condition and eat.

LOVE this zoo! Went this past weekend and I’m so happy we went. My son got to feed the giraffes and also touch and feed the stingrays. My in-laws had a lot of fun with how interactive the zoo is!

We had a good experience. Somehow we didn’t get charged for parking which is generally 5 dollars.
We walked the whole Zoo in about 2 hours. It wasn’t as big as I anticipated it to be.
20 bucks per person for admission.
I see this is one of the top zoos in America?? Hmm not sure I feel that is an accurate assessment. It’s really not that large and there isn’t THAT many animals

Compared to the San Antonio Zoo, you can tell that they actually truly care about the animals and the scenery here. Once the construction is done, it will be even more beautiful for the public. To all of the people complaining about the parking, you do realize you will even have to walk within the zoo as well. IT IS A ZOO! School field trips, etc etc happens. Get over it.

I love this zoo. I've been coming here for 55 years and there always seems to be something different every time I'm here. The first time we were here this year was an unpleasant experience, half the exhibits were closed as well as half the restaurants. Plus there really is a lot of construction going on.
However, we went back this morning at 9, on a Monday, which I recommend for membership holders. There was no line to get in, there was free water and an orange, the animals were out eating and being active. We got a lot of good pictures. It appears the birds are back on exhibit. And there still is a lot of construction going on however the progress they're making is very rapid. All the exhibits are top-notch. And those didn't look up to their standards are being improved. Even during the hot summer, if you go on membership Mondays, the shade of the trees and the wind are enough to keep you cool for the most part. Also worth mentioning, the train and Carousel are free on Mondays all day to membership holders as well.
Dane Adkisson — Google review
The zoo was pretty cool. There were plenty shaded areas, a decent amount of animals to see but I especially enjoyed how close the giraffes came (to be fed, at cost) they also do activity / education at certain times which are posted by the animals, usually in front. I also recommend getting a map because you are sure to miss animals if you don’t.
Tatyana Taylor — Google review
This has to be the most themed zoo I've ever been too. Really beautiful with waterfalls everywhere. Even some misting stations to help with that Texas heat. My favorite exhibit was probably the giraffe one. For $5 you get to feed them. I didn't see any live shows or an aquarium but still one of my top 5 zoo's I've been to.
Vegas stoker — Google review
Well worth it. The price of admission is very reasonable and I saw so many animals. The enclosures mostly felt like they were great sizes. Was a little confusing to navigate at first, I went straight to Texas area but should have done the other path first as it meant I ended up doubling back and then back again later. They are sponsored by Dr Pepper so if you like drinks made by Coca Cola bring your own

Lots of Animals! Had a great time! The new Predators exhibit was great with Lions, Tigers, Hyenas, and Leopards. The Zoo had come a long way and you even feel like you’re in a real jungle. Also the lions used to be hard to view, but with the new enclosure, you can see them easily!

It is a very nice place, I really liked it and my daughter was excited about the animals. Although we couldn't see some of them due perhaps to the cold weather, we still enjoyed it. This is definitely a good sized zoo so be prepared for minimum 2 hours here. We took 2 and half hrs here but was great so many animals to see we did the giraffe feeding and it was fun. We went on a cloudy day so the animals were there hanging out. Plenty of restrooms areas, benches for a quick drink/snack break. We enjoyed our time here highly recommend

The Kimbell Art Museum is a renowned art institution in Fort Worth, Texas that boasts an impressive collection of European and Asian masterpieces as well as ancient Egyptian artifacts. The museum's beautifully designed building has been widely lauded by critics, and it is a favourite destination for locals and tourists alike.
Great museum. I've been coming here for years. I love the additional building by Renzo Piano and the underground parking space. I recently checked out the Turner exhibition. It was busy but everyone was polite. Check out the museum when visiting Fort Worth.

This is another tiny but mighty museum in the US. I don't consider this museum as a big one but they have such a great collection. I am a big fan of European paintings and was surprised at quantity of them. Especially, there were enough impressionism. I loved this museum so much so went 2 days in a row. You also get to go to a garden to pass to the Pavillon. The collection is amazing, and they also have works of many European artists such as Monet, Manet, Richter, and others. There is also a cafe where you could grab a house made refreshing drink for 2 Dollars.

The Kimble Art Museum is a renowned building. The architect of the building, Louis Kahn paid special attention to the details of textures and lighting. People come from all around the world to visit this building and we are lucky to have this museum so close to us. I have come here more times than I can count. There is a free section which are the paintings and sculptures that are at the museum all of the time and then, they have the exhibit section which is one that needs to be paid for. They offer a membership as well. There is a newer addition to the art museum done by the famous architect, Renzo Piano which is a beautiful building as well. They also have a cafe in the museum with great food and really good tea. I would highly recommend coming to this museum.

This is my favorite art museum in the DFW area. They have a fantastic collection of art (ranging from ancient Asian, to classical European, to modern sculptures). The size of the campus is great, and you do not feel so overwhelmed by the amount of things you need to see.
Even on busy days, you will not feel lost in a crowd. The interior of the building is engineered in such a way that you are not overwhelmed by noise or people on their busy days.

Absolutely loved our tour with Zack. He was so eloquent in teaching us all about Lost Oak, it’s vineyard and process. Our group even got to hear from Angela one of the wine makers and see how truly passionately she is about her art. (Also I Love Norman) 😊 Truly a fun experience and enjoyed each part of the tour. Enjoyed our first visit to this winery. Great venue for casual gatherings. We walked the nature trails and managed to get lost! Be sure to pick up a trail map before endeavoring your walk! As we we leaving, musicians were setting up to play. We had other plans so couldn’t stay. Lots of cars were coming in so we will plan that in the future. My only recommendation is to chill the white wines a little more. My two glasses were not cold.

What a lovely winery! Super friendly staff (always such a plus right up front)! The wines followed up in the same vein…delicious. We are dry wine drinkers and those are what we sampled. Not disappointed.
The grounds were expansive with loads of seating options: inside, covered outside and under the trees outside. AND pet friendly!! Gabriel (our adventure kitty) was welcomed with open arms.
Definitely worth the stop, or the detour! We will be back.

A friend of mine suggested we meet somewhere new that neither of us had visited before. We live in different cities, so we try to find a halfway point to meet up and visit with each other. I'm so glad she found Lost Oak Winery! We both had a flight (she tried the dry whites, and I tried the dry reds). Jessica was our lovely host for the tastings. We bought a bottle of the Estes, which seemed perfect for a spring day, a charcuterie tray, and a couple of wine glasses (no, you don't have to buy the glasses, we just wanted to). We headed outside to a table down by the water. Everything was perfect! We enjoyed sitting under the shade trees, drinking wine, enjoying some tasty food, and catching up with each other. I told my husband I want to take him there for a date. :)

Delightful place to taste wine, stretch legs, and let the kids run. We were on our way to meet up with friends before heading to the airport, looking for a place to kill time when we spotted this place on the map. They have 3 tasting menus (including a red/white mix); I tried the sweets and my husband tried the reds. All of my wines were good & we left with a nice hostess gift. The kids had Capri-Sun's and meat/cheese snacks, ran through the vines sneaking a taste of unripe grapes, and chilled under the porch misters. The tasting room & bathrooms have AC. The turn for this place isn't quite where Google maps has it - watch for signs & CR 802.

We used Lost Oak's event space for our wedding, and it was perfect! We had a smaller crowd, but you could definitely fit a ton of people in this venue, but with that being said our wedding with about 44 guests didn't feel empty in the space. The way they set everything up and spaced the tables made the room feel just right! Cayla our event coordinator was SO helpful, she always responded to emails quickly and she really helped to make our day perfect! I also highly recommend getting the unlimited wine and cocktails! It was a great value and our guests loved getting to try all the different cocktails, and wines!

I had never been here but learned about an 80s theme dance night and decided to go. The place was packed. The event was well organized. There were food trucks and the wine service was super friendly. I wasn’t sure which wine I wanted, so they let me taste a few whites (my go-to) to find which one I liked. The white orange wine was my favorite. The music and DJ was AWESOME! First time here. Really nice park and lake. We had a screened in shelter, which was very nice and clean. Fairly secluded, lots of space around it, and easy access via a trail to the lake. One downside during our visit is that the closest latrine/shower was closed for repairs.
We will be back, perhaps when the weather is cooler.

Park is situated close to town , office staff was not available and it was self service station so carry cash for entry fee . There were rangers car in the park roaming . Park has one small trail about a mile long and small kid friendly , trail is near sunset point area . There are plenty of camping , RV and shelter area thru out the park, restroom are clean and located thru out the park as well . Lake is huge I mean huge huge and state park offers tables along edges available as first come first serve, swimming area is designated and swimming vest were hanging right next to rest room , I will post a picture as well . If you coming to this park plan to stay till sunset . Sunset view is best from sunset area that is on other side from swimming area and need about 5 mile ride that is pretty along grassland and lake edge . Overall happy go luck park that is clean and offers views , plan to stay for sunset .
One more thing there are butterflies on trail .

We just drove through the park, just to scout out potential future camp sites. The park was kept clean and the sites were of good size. The views were beautiful.

Went for the first time and I loved it!! So relaxing and great for fishing. I just have 2 questions. Why is there no shower curtains in the showers? Why wasn't the heat turned on in the restroom when it's cold outside? This is the first state park that does have that and I have been to many.

Stayed at whitetail campground at spot 60, right on the lake with a beautiful view.
Showed up late at night paid $14 for tent site and $5 per person a total of $30.
Not a place you can just show up and stay at. Reserve ahead of time.
We wanted to stay a couple days but turned out to be Easter weekend and it fully booked.
Which is fine, but when the campground volunteer came around, she was super rude right off the bat, and really soured our experience. Trying to treat us like we did something wrong, even tho we did our due diligence and paid for the spot when we arrived. Maybe we weren’t on time leaving, but it’s a park it’s really not that big of a deal.
The rangers were super kind and friendly, and understanding and didn’t even sweat us like how the volunteer lady did.
and even as we were leaving the office the volunteer had to once again tell us what to do, “go out the other door”..
it really isn’t hard to be kind to people, especially when folks are just trying to enjoy nature. we had no ideal it was sold out for the weekend when we showed up Thursday night, and we accepted the fact that we couldn’t stay another night.
Showers were good and had high pressure and were hot, weird set up though, no privacy really in the showers.

Enjoyed the trail and worth the $5 entrance fee.
Although it was after hours, the park rangers stopped at the front to see if anyone needed help checking in before she left.
6 miles of wooded mountain bike trails over rocky hills, & a lake for fishing & boating.
Great walking trails lots of space and beautiful sites to see!
They have tent and rv camping.
Main bathroom by the park was very clean.
The children's play park could use some work but my kid didn't notice so it was all good.
Definitely beware of snakes we saw 2 in our couple hours of hiking. Only about 3 ft each.

Trails were nice and easy to navigate, with varying levels of difficulty. The lake provided nice breeze, keeping us cool while hiking. Enjoying seeing few patches of bluebonnets, wildflowers and other signs of spring on the trail. The spillway was dry but still a beautiful sight to see. We hiked 50% of the trails there, due to time. Hope to come back and hike the other half.

This park is small but such a refreshing place to get away at. We went in September after a very dry, hot summer and the water was so refreshing. It's a beautiful place to go.

Overall, a nice, relatively small state park. If you live in the area, it's a great place to get a little nature it. I personally like visiting state parks to get a little solitude and escape the sounds of civilization. I couldn't really do that here, as during my hike I could usually hear cars. Also, from what I can tell, the park is surrounded by private property. There were wire fences around the parameter, which made it clear where the boundaries of the park ended and where civilization begins. That being said, the middle of the park, where the lake is, was very pretty. The park is worth a visit. Just a little less secluded than I prefer.

Good place to do some hiking. Very rocky terrain on clear paths, not very steep hills. The late can be fished and swam in. They have lots of different types of camp sites.

I walked portions of the Camp Creek Loop, Fossil Ridge, Coyote Run, Spillway, and White-tail Hollow trails. There were plenty of rugged, moderate inclines.
Color markings and signage for the trails were abundant. I loved the hike and park. I'd put it in my top 3 for the North Texas area.

The park is great! The trail is steps, and rocks but it is challenging and fun! The park also has many activities such camp, swimming, kayak, and paddle boarding!!! Highly recommend hanging out for a full day

Great area! We'll definitely go back to kayak and walk trails. Reasons for 4 stars: 1. Many campsite layouts are not so user friendly with the picnic table on one side and the firepit on the other or everything on the wrong side of a camper. 2. Bathrooms could use some updating. They were clean!

We decided to make a quick detour on our way back to Austin from Frisco. Luckily we chose Cleburne State Park as that detour! We purchased a day pass. The park was very well kept and beautiful. Calm and definitely not overcrowded. With spring break coming to an end we were afraid with beautiful weather it was going to be packed. Much to our surprise it was a beautiful little getaway. We chose to rent some kayaks and hangout by the playscape area to let the kids run off some energy and enjoy the water. We will definitely be back for a full weekend of camping and hiking!

My camera was acting up, so I didn't get near the pictures that this place deserved! It was like walking in the garden of Eden! The continuous waterfall was so neat to see in person. We found several fish in the small pond areas between the waterfalls. We only did a couple of trails here, but will be back to take better pictures and do all the trails. Be very aware of your surroundings, as we seen about a 6' long snake skin hanging in one of the trees we walked past.

This is a hidden gem of a state park! It is a wonderful place to tent camp & hike. Water & electric at camp sites. Dump station for trailors. The restrooms (located on the loops) & showers are in great need of an upgrade, but always clean. The park staff are very friendly & helpful. Camp sites were always clean upon arrival. The only negatives I have are no fault of the park itself. The near by lime plant often operates at night producing loud on going noise. And it sounded like hunters or a gun range near by at night around 10pm. A bit concerning the first time you hear it late! I was told the sound of near by gunfire is normal there. The hiking trails are gorgeous & well kept. A hike to the spillway is a must! The wildflowers this Spring were abundant & fragrant. This park has a small day use area with kids play area, swim area & lots of picnic tables in a shadey area. Also, there is a small fishing dock & small kayaks for rent. As well as a vending machine for firewood.

Great park that is barely an hour outside of Dallas. They have lots of trails to explore, both bike and hiking. I can't wait to come back with my bike. If you care, you won't have phone signal.
The screened shelter sites are a little close to each other and on the sites themselves are a little small but they are adequate. I enjoyed my weekend trip with family. We reserved screen shelter 6 which is by far the largest site and is completely covered by trees. Perfect site for the Texas heat. Only downside is the bathrooms are bit far. If you're up for the walk, it's not too bad. The door to the shelter is actually facing away from the tent/grill site, so if you intend on using the power outlet you will need to bring a very long extension cord. Great site and probably the only site with some privacy.
The lake has unmanned "vending machine" kayaks which can be rented from 7am - 7pm. Very easy process and the cost is $24 for 2hrs. Both single and tandem kayaks are available. Paddles and life jackets are released from lockers once paid. Return to the same spot.
Firewood is also available from vending machines. Large for $12.99. I love the easy of use and accessibility for both the kayaks and the firewood.
The beach area is very large and there is also a pavilion(rentalable) and large park across the parking lot. There are several tables and grills at the beach area.

I had always heard good things about this park! It did not disappoint.
Most trails were well maintained and well marked- Fossil Ridge could use some signage-
Many RV slips, camping sites and cabins available. Swimming beach, area great for kayaking, boat ramp and fishing dock.
Enjoyed speaking to several of the friendly locals-

First time visit. Went on a weekday so no crowds. Lots of great hiking trails. Be prepared and pre download maps and your favorite GPS ap. Most of the trails are well marked but there are a lot of “extra” trails that aren’t mapped, so know where you are going. We did the Spillway trail and it was moderate with lots of up and down elevation changes and we were rewarded with beautiful views of the water cascading over the spillway. Park staff were friendly and helpful. Restrooms were clean. I highly recommend this Texas State Park!

I drove out here on my day off to check it out and take a hike down the trails. The trails are mostly maintained, though some have washed away and eroded to somewhat treacherous climbing in spots on the two trails (pink and yellow) over by the spillway. The green trail and the dark purple trail by the entrance/restrooms is my favorite of the day to hike and I'll be taking them again next time. I found a cool walking stick and saw some wildflowers starting to bloom as well. I'll be back further into the spring and early summer to see the wildflowers and picnic further into the park. I had a good time and looked forward to returning.

Cleburne State Park was convenient to stay at for visiting Fort Worth. It's a steep, curvy road up to the campgrounds, but campsites were level. Cedar Grove site 10 was nice. It's a short hike over a little bridge to the bathrooms. The bathrooms are heated with hot water but need some serious cleaning. Zero AT&T cell service and little antenna reception. Saw deer and nice foliage color in December. Hikes were fun and well marked.

Nice little park on our way home from Glen Rose. We collect various trinkets from all the state parks we visit and I always search the Google reviews for what their selection looks like so for fellow patch/pin/etc enthusiasts I snapped these shots of their options. I felt like they were also the most reasonable price wise (thankfully, because the state park pass discount isn’t accepted there) happy hiking

Great place to camp for the weekend! Kayaking, fishing, and hiking. I tent camped at Cedar Grove. Great location because it is close to full service restrooms and dock. I hiked to the spillway lookout off of Spillway Trail. It was beautiful, but the trail is a little difficult to navigate because there are so many non-trail pathways, from overuse and from people not straying off the original trail. You really need to pay attention to the direction you are going.
Lakeside wooded area offering activities such as hiking, camping, boating, fishing & bird-watching.
Had a great time swimming. Water was cool and mostly clear. Saw a couple of fish jumping and watched an adorable ribbon snake cross the road. Coming back soon to hike.
Edit: Came back last Monday to hike Bosque Trail and it was very nice. It's a fairly easy trail with awesome sights, took 2 hours casually walking. Not busy at all given the day, saw a small group with poles and a polite Ranger that was maintaining it, we stopped and asked if he'd seen snakes today, he hadn't. When checking out the "pond" by the bird watching shelter a couple of Rangers told us its kinda sad story, built the pond but no rain to fill it, and asked if we needed water, that was sweet. We have a State Park less than 5 miles but Meridian (1hr away) is our new favorite.

My son and I really enjoyed our visit to Meridian State Park. We stayed in a screen house with a view of the lake and had a gorgeous view of sunset. The self serve kayak rentals are a great touch!

We only stayed one night at this state campground but we really liked it. It’s a very small campground with 15 campsites and some cabins. Half the campsites are full hookup and half are electric/water. The sites with electric/water are very small and will only accommodate a small camper. There are several beautiful trails which will take you over rocky terrain and through small seasonal streams. There is a lake and other areas to explore like Bee Cave. The wildflowers were everywhere! (Apr 2024)

Great park for camping, hiking and swimming. This is a NO WAKE lake, so leave all your motorized water toys(boat, wave runner, etc.) at home. Don't forget the kayaks and canoes. First time staying in a screen shelter, not so bad, really cool. We will stay again, very nice and clean camp grounds.
Highly recommend

This is just such an amazing State Park! It’s so clean and you can tell they take pride in it. The camping cabin area is just amazing! It has easy access to water, easy access to showers and bathrooms too. It has this fireplace area with several benches . It also has this cute library cabinet there. The prices are so reasonable and such great scenery. Bathrooms are super clean too- which to me is a deal breaker. Very impressive. Many trails too

Had a great time staying at this state park. The wildflowers galore healed my tired soul, the park rangers were so kind and helpful, and the screened shelters in Juniper were great. Only two complaints are that one of the outlets in the shelter didn’t work, but there was another one by the door, and that the screened shelters are so close to each other that if you have inconsiderately loud neighbors like we did it spoils the vibe a bit. But, obnoxious guests are not the fault of the park itself! Also really liked that there were self-pay firewood and kayaks available to use.

This was our first visit to Meridian state park. It was very quaint and beautiful. The only thing that we didn't like was there was a pretty active hiking trail right next to our camping site so it didn't feel as private as other sites. Other than that, it was wonderful.

Biked to the park from Clifton TX on mostly gravel roads with a group. Campsites were neat and clean. Small walking trail was nice. Peaceful sleeping thanks to dark and quiet area. The water in the small lake was low, and the lake bottom was 6 inches of soft mud. Not many people swimming as a result.

What an interesting state park with really beautiful wild flowers. We decided we wanted to take some pics, but a state park police officer followed us to three different locations and asked what we were taking pictures of, if it was for a wedding or what. Not sure if he thought my gf was cute or had nothing better to do, but after the third time we found it creepy AF and left. One time he parked unnecessarily far away and hiked up the road as if to catch us doing something. It was very bizarre. Probably some small town hick cop with nothing better to do but regardless he ruined our experience.

Small intimate state park. 8 full hook up sites that are relatively level. They contain fire pits, grills and tables. They also have shelters and primitive camping. Very well maintained. We were at site 3 directly across from the bathroom and shower. Older but very nice. The hiking trails are more difficult in my opinion than the map states. Bosque says it is challenging on the map but I felt it was difficult, Shinnery was moderate on the map but was challenging etc. Even the one rated easy was moderate. Be prepared with hiking boots and a walking stick as the paths have loose limestone and slippery limestone rock to walk over. You may also have to drive to trail heads. We did all four trails and definitely worth the effort. It is just beautiful. Great camping experience as well as a wonderful staff.

It's a great place for hiking, camping, and kayaking. Although the kayak that I had didn't have plugs so I got my clothes and shoes wet during the chilli weather. The people at the front were friendly and helpful. This place was very peaceful and beautiful especially during the fall. They have nice cabins and decent shelters. We set up a tent for camping. They have nice fire pits and grills as well. You can loan fishing rods as well. The bathrooms were clean as well. Overall a great experience.
Christmas time on the square was beautiful with all the lighted trees, the Christmas tree, buildings all lit up and the little nativity along with candles in the courthouse windows and the stars at the top of the courthouse! I photographed a wedding at the Parker County Courthouse. Not only was it a beautiful historic courthouse with its beautiful architecture, everyone was welcoming and Kind. From the security guard welcoming us, to the Court Coordinator also welcoming us with a tour of the courthouse and where photos could be taken. Then there was Country Judge Deen, so down to earth, humble, and you would of thought this was just a casual family visit. He sat down my couple in his office and just talked. The way he slowed down the rush and nerves of getting married was a huge shift for my couple. He took his time and care in marrying the couple. For the many weddings at courthouse, we are usually rushed in and out. Judge Deen took his time as though he was expecting important guests. He introduced himself to the family and even me, the photographer. He prayed with the family, took time to give the newlywed advice, and invited us to continue taking pictures in the courthouse. This was impressive and I know meant a lot to the newlywed and their family. The courthouse is located in a busy roundabout, so all the cars and trucks were hooking to celebrate the newlyweds! Thank you Parker County Courthouse for one amazing moment and making their wedding greater than we expected.

The Granbury Opera House is a renovated historical venue that hosts live musicals, comedies and educational programs. The seating is intimate with great sound quality and no bad seats in the house. However, outside food is not allowed but water bottles are permitted for drinking. The staff is courteous and the facilities including restrooms are well-maintained. There are ushers at every entrance to guide visitors. Tickets sell out fast because of rotating seasonal shows, so it's advisable to purchase them early.
Not a bad seat in the house and the sound quality was top notch. This was my first time here and I will definitely be returning! No outside food allowed and only water bottles for drinking. Small intimate seating and ushers at every entrance. The shows rotate with the seasons so buy your tickets early, as they do sell out fast. Also, parking is a bit to navigate so allow extra time as not to rush or be late.

I had been such a fan of the Opera House and have visited many times.... until today. I purchased several tickets that were cancelled due to COVID and was told I could get a refund or use the tickets later... I used 4 of my 6 tickets. I called last Saturday to use my remaining 2 tickets, that I have already paid for, after looking online to see that there were several OPEN AVAILABLE SEATS but was told that my tickets had expired, guess I should have gotten the refund instead of saving them. What dumbfounds me is that the Granbury Opera House would rather have open seats opposed to seating continuous paying patrons. As I was explaining this to the two individuals over the phone, I stated that I would not continue to be a paying patron after being refused my tickets (of which I PAID for!), I was literally told "we will be better off without you".... I had been very nice to these individuals up to this point however, my following words were not so nice after that comment. I am honestly shocked! They requested that I be sure to add that they sent out emails informing patrons that the tickets would expire. I do not read every email that goes to my junk mailbox, who does? Despite the emails, again, there were open seats within just two hours of the show AND they didn't mind keeping my money that I had already paid. Bad business ethics on your part Granbury Opera House!

Beautiful venue. Although the chairs are not plus sized friendly. The top, which we were located, was a nice view but if you can get bottom floor seating I definitely recommend you do so as when the actors come out to the audience they only walk around on the floor seats. The building itself had such beautiful workmanship! The chandeliers were magnificent! They also have a elevator as well as a very small concession stand that will be selling wine and beer soon from what the announcer said before our show played. For two small bags of popcorn and some Oreos it's was $9.
The performance we went to see was Matilda and what a wonderful cast it was! Wish I would've been able to take a couple of photos with the cast with my little one but we decided to go next door to the little candy shop and try the Matilda chocolate shake, which was only like $6 and absolutely worth it!
All in all of you get the chance to come and watch a play put on by these amazing actors I for one think you should definitely by those floor seat tickets and enjoy the show!

Since it was Easter Sunday everything was closed except 2 Art Gallerirs and 2 places to eat. My wife and I liked Granbury a lot. The people there were very friendly. We plan to go there soon. They told us it's better to go there from Wednesday thru Saturday.
Visitors can drive through this 1,700-acre center & view animals such as giraffes, antelopes & deer.
This place is great to bring the kids for a visit. There was a variety of animals and you get to feed the 🦒 out of your sunroof (or windows). Recommend going when it is warm but not too hot! I have feeling the animals might sit in the shade more in 100 degree weather but I can't confirm that. We went in spring when everything was green and it was fantastic.

Hand-feeding those friendly giraffes was a highlight of our trip to Texas. So friendly, would do it again. Fun how inquisitive the animals were as we drove slowly by. Good gift shop at the mid-point. Middle also has a nice little petting zoo where you can groom the goats. We walked a nice little trail at the rest stop too which had facts about the wildlife. Cheetah, zebra and rhino greeted us on the second half.

Had a great time. My kids enjoyed the animals and getting to feed them. We were worried because it was very hot in early July that most of the animals would be sleeping but they were fairly active! It’s kind of expensive but we spent over an hour driving through and feeding and looking at the animals.

Great experience. I loved the giraffes, but I had to wait in a line for the giraffes for 1 1/2 hours. It was worth it, though. Next time, I will spend the extra money to go on a trip in one of those safari trucks so I can get there sooner. The staff was really helpful and seemed they loved their job. While I waited in line to feed the giraffes, one of the workers talked to us the entire time so we wouldn't get bored. Also, the other animals were really close to are car. I've never been so close to those animals before, so it was a fun experience. I highly recommend coming here.

Absolutely love Fossil Rim!! Relaxing and as slow paced as you choose to go. This was our first time at the wildlife center. Animals are everywhere across the beautiful property and will come right up to your car. Me and the husband did the self guided tour and had a blast! At the gate entrance they give you food to feed the animals. Well worth the experience and we will be back!

I only give this five stars because my 9 yr old loved it! While I did enjoy it, I feel it is lacking in the variety of wildlife available. This is my second visit, but the previous was like 20 years ago!
Overall would do it again!
Pros:
*Many animals do walk up to the car for an amazing experience
*Animals were not aggressive
*Place and animals are well maintained
*The trip lasted a good amount of time, and it was not super crowded (this is more of an off peak season)
*GIRAFFES!!!! Which you can hand feed 💕🦒
Cons:
* one bag of food for the car, I do feel you should give one bag per ticket!
*We were having to ration out food, I’m talking one or two pellets with the occasional indulgence!
*Although my daughter loved it, and I did enjoy it, it is mostly deer/antelope type of animals with the occasional sprinkle of variety like an ostrich, zebra, and of course the giraffes!

Always a great way to spend your day with your family and get to be a part of nature. Price is a bit steep if you just do a one day pass, so you should consider getting an annual membership. The drive through the park is wonderful for kids to see animals roaming freely and to feed them with the provided feed. You will want to make sure your child rations out how much they throw at a time so that they have some for the giraffes at the end of the trip. Don’t forget to go to see the other animals near the gift shop midway through the trip.

Took my son on a safari adventure! We arrived early, at 8:30, when the park opened. We were able to see almost all the animals. The best part was when we fed the giraffes. My son enjoyed the entire experience. Feeding the giraffes and seeing his first ostrich were some of the highlights. You definitely want to save some of the feed they give you for the 🦒. Great experience and worth the cost to see the impact on my son

I recently visited the Fossil Rim Wildlife Center for a self-guided tour with my family, and we had a fantastic time. Our main highlight was the giraffes, and we were not disappointed. We had the incredible opportunity to see several giraffes up close, with two of them even approaching our car. It was an amazing experience to be so close to these majestic creatures.
In addition to the giraffes, there were plenty of other deer and similar species to observe. However, it would have been even more wonderful to see a greater variety of animals, such as local Texas species like longhorns and bison. Nonetheless, the prices were fair, and the staff members were friendly and helpful throughout our visit.
The road within the center was easy to navigate, and the directions provided were clear, so we didn't need a map. This made the tour hassle-free and enjoyable. I'm already planning to visit again, and I can't wait to bring other family members along. Overall, Fossil Rim Wildlife Center offers a great giraffe experience, and with some additional animal variety, it would be even more captivating.

We had a house full of family and kids for Thanksgiving week and was looking for something to do. This place was great. The kids and adults loved it. Feeding the animals was the highlight.
The only downside was the cool weather. There were giraffes, big birds (ostriches) or zebras anywhere to be seen. We will go back, but in warmer weather.

We thoroughly enjoyed the overall experience. There were numerous animals, and it was delightful to feed them, especially the giraffes, which the kids loved. The only disappointment was that we arrived a bit late at 3 PM, and we didn't see many animals approaching the car. I believe the early morning hours are the right time to witness animals up close.

Fossil Rim Wildlife Center offers a wonderful safari-style experience for families. Located in the scenic Texas countryside, it provides a unique opportunity to observe a variety of wildlife up close in their natural habitat. Kids particularly enjoy the chance to see animals like giraffes, zebras, and rhinos from the comfort of their car seats. The leisurely drive through the park is both educational and enjoyable, with informative guides available to answer questions along the way. Overall, Fossil Rim is a great place for families to spend a day immersed in nature and wildlife.

One of the best place for a unique family fun..
Be sure to follow the arrows if you take the self guided tour. We took a wrong turn and lost half of the tour and exited. And you can’t go back in. Admin wasn’t very helpful about it.
Also, tickets are non refundable, but maybe rescheduled. My parents couldn't make it and their tickets were wasted.
My car has a nice long deep scratch from the antlers of a deer. So don’t bring your car if you’re too sensitive.
You have to drive very patiently and carefully, lots of cars stop and take turns to feed and enjoy the animals…

Perfect day trip from Dallas.
I took the family here for my brothers birthday. Although it was hot out & a lot of the animals were relaxing in the shade we were still able to interact with a lot of them. I read that the average time spent here is 2 hours but we were there for almost 3 hours. They have a ‘1 bag of animal food per car’ rule but it’s a lot of animal food & if there are multiple people in your vehicle they will give you a few empty bags so the animal food can be shared amongst everyone in the car who wants to feed the animals. There’s a nice little cafe at the mid point with a pretty overlook. Conveniently located near other points of interest like the dinosaur park.

This was my first visit to Wildlife centre and I really enjoyed seeing all animals over there.
Advice :-
1. Try to go as early as possible so you can see all animals walking or running here and there. (Later after 11 AM due to sunny weather they might be taking rest under shadow or far way from your car)
2. Book tickets online in advance they gets busy in holidays.

We had the most incredible time at the wildlife center. This was our break as we drove across the country from colorado to Florida. The safari ride was amazing, the guide was so knowledgeable! She even made sure we got extra time feeding the giraffes and we felt so catered to. We will defiantly be planning to come back to experience this again.

This wildlife place is nice and really good to visit with kids. They have lots of animals and they remains really close to the cars. On the entrance you will be provided with food to feed animals. You can feed them from your car just stretching your hands out. They also offer a guided tour and it needs prior reservation. Watch out the weather forecast before you go.
Sadia Disha — Google review
A little pricey but really cool. It was pretty cold when we went so not a lot of animal activity. It is a lot bigger than expected with a nice break at the halfway point. We opted for the self guided drive through. For 2 adults and 1 child it was $85 and included one cone of animal feed.
Brian Bownds — Google review
Went on the self-guided tour on the weekend. When you reach the gate to check in they provided a cone of food to throw outside for bringing animals closer. We were hoping to stop at the cafe that was midway on the tour but unfortunately was closed. I do like the self pacing of the safari and can spend time focusing on certain animals.
One downside though is some cars do not follow the rules so you have to wait at times for space to drive around them. Animals do block the road so be sure to have food available to lure them away or can bring them closer to feed. By the end we still had a good amount of food so the last animals at the gate got a feast.
Was a different experience and wouldn't mind going again to check out the regular tour.

I could not have asked for a better experience! I did a guided tour and had an amazing tour guide, Alex. She is an animal expert!! She answered all of my questions and I learned so much from her. The animals were beautiful and it really was a 10/10 experience. My friend and I are still talking about it. I feel so fortunate to live close enough to enjoy such an adventure! I highly recommend the guided tour. We even saw baby animals!

Came on a Monday morning so it was not too crowded. Still enough for some cars no more than 4 to be backed up. Road is wide enough to pass them.
One thing to keep in mind is that the animals have a huge amount of land to cover, so you might not see every animal. The deers love to eat the pellet and are always waiting by the road. Unfortunately, did not see any zebras. I was skeptical that the entire routes take 1.5 hrs but it really did take that long. The halfway point has a gift shop, cafe, a children's center, and some hiking trails. I think the price is quite good to offer all of that. The cafe was decent w a great view, and I loved the children's center. There were many goats walking around you can pet and brush. The hiking trails were also very nice and casual. Not intense at all, but still not as if you're walking on a sidewalk.

Been here twice and it only keeps getting better!
We took the guided tour and we were 5 of us.
It is a very comfortable and scenic drive inside the 1800acre wildlife conservatory.
So many kinds of animals and birds!!! The giraffes, and deers are so friendly - they come right to your car sunroof/window and take a nibble of the animal feed provided by the wildlife centre.
Must visit for all age groups, definitely enjoyable for kids of all ages!
Also, come prepared with food if you plan to spend the day here - restaurants nearby are limited!

My family loves this place, we actually were going so often that we got a membership which is a great way to save money if you plan to go more than 2-3x per year. Everyone that comes to visit we take and they have a great time!
I also want to say every time we come it feels like a new experience because every season or day depending on the time you come and the weather the animals are different (e.g. in the spring you get to see lots of new little babies, in the fall the animals are super active when it isn’t too hot out, in the morning the animals are pretty playful)!
But what makes this place really special is not only seeing my kids light up because they get to feed a giraffe from their palm while sitting in the car, but all the conversation efforts they work on with the money they get from park visitors and donors!

My recent visit to this place with my animal-loving daughter was a delightful experience. We had a wonderful time exploring and interacting with the various animals. Was lucky to feed a giraffe among 50 other vehicles and mostly everyone had failed as the giraffe chose to approach only me. From diverse species of deer and gazelles to majestic rhinoceros, the array of animals made it an unforgettable experience.
Tip: since its internal and speed limits are only 20 you can have your kids out of car seat for a better experience

Be sure to buy tickets ahead! I recommend the guided tour, otherwise, you will just drive through the park and not really know what you are looking at and what the significance is.
The tour provided treats to give the animals and lettuce to feed the giraffes. There were so many endangered animals in the park. It was humbling to be introduced to the programs that are saving the species from extinction. My favorite was the Southern White Rhino. We got to see the baby, Rocket, with his mom on the first day he was let out.
There’s a couple hiking trails, a cafe, gift shop, and a children’s animal center where goats roam and are ready to be spoiled.

Nice place to keep the kids engaged. We opted to ride in our own car instead of the safari to have more control over the time and spend more time with the favorite and most active animals that kids enjoy feeding We opened the sunroof and giraffe entered in to the car through sunroof for the feed. Unforgettable experience!!!

The last time we visited was almost 12-13 years ago and didn’t have much recollection. So, we went this time with a fresh perspective and were pleasantly surprised at the number of animals and the close proximity of interacting with them. Thoroughly enjoyed the trip.

Wonderful! The animals are very well cared for and the tours are a must! You only short change yourself by driving through yourself! the guide was incredibly knowledgeable and loved her job! The work done here for the animals cannot be overstated as they not only care for but also help to save many of the species from becoming extinct. Again the tours are really the best way to experience this wonderful place.
Fossilized footprints along a river, plus 2 life-sized dinosaur models on 1,587 scenic acres.
Great park! The state website has track mapes you can use to find the footprints. Don't be afraid to wade into the water to get a better look. The park is well managed and clean. Even though it was spring break most of the traffic was near the river. We only passed a few people when we were out on the loop trails. Some of the trail sections are dirt but most of it is pretty rocky. Wear good shoes if you want to hike away from the river. We will be back :)

We recently took our first hike of the year at this park. This park was beautiful!! Lots of trails, with scenic views. Most trails are super easy to navigate. You can experience the river, plains, prairie, and forested areas on the same group of trails. We did the overlook trail and it took us to the top where you can see all of the plains, it is breathtaking. I would definitely recommend you make reservations in advance. There are many other trails a swim hole and a store when you first come int to the park, you can also camp and stay overnight. I 100% recommend you check it out. Bring water shoes, lots of water and snacks.

I wanted to check out this place because it's so well known in DFW. I can see the appeal of why it is popular. However, I came on the wrong day. There was a race going on in the park, so I could hear a lot of cheering on the trails I took. And there were a lot of families with kids running around. I love that there are families enjoying nature. My family introduced me to state parks as a kid too, which is part of the reason why I love hiking now. However, I got no solitude at all from my time here. I couldn't walk more than a few hundred feet without coming across another human being. The popularity of the park took away from my experience. It may be more calm at a different time. I get that. So it likely was just poor timing on my part. But I think I'll avoid really popular parks moving forward.

Love the small, wooded campsite, the wildflowers, swimming in the river! Definitely a great place to visit and relax with kids, even if the dino tracks aren’t visible when you’re there. We stayed in site 22, and it was bordered on both sides by brush, shady and private. Good neighboring sites would be both 16 and 23. Both are also shady, but 23 is not bordered on both sides by brush/trees. There is a paved walkway to the shower house between sites 25 and 26.

We enjoyed our visit to Dinosaur Valley State Park. When we went there, the park was celebrating its 50th Anniversary on the Columbus day weekend. So there was a long line of cars but the staff handled the traffic very efficiently and we were easily able to find our designated parking spot.
We were handed a map which had all the tracks and trails marked so it was up to us to decide which trail we wanted to hike.
The tracks were spectacular to look at. Especially the rock formations and the limestone boulders were very picturesque. We did the scenic overlook trail which had nice views of the entire state park from the top. The hike was steep and slippery on some parts but mostly easy. So we recommend wearing waterproof hiking boots to enjoy both climbing as well as finding tracks in the water.
We also recommend to carry water bottles and some snacks as the park is big and you will lose track of time.
Abundant parking is available throughout the park. We will definitely be coming back.

Dinosaur Valley State Park is an awe-inspiring destination that takes visitors on a journey back in time to when dinosaurs roamed the Earth. Nestled along the scenic Paluxy River in Glen Rose, Texas, this park is a haven for dinosaur enthusiasts and nature lovers alike. The highlight of the park is undoubtedly the well-preserved dinosaur tracks found along the riverbed, allowing visitors to walk in the footsteps of these ancient creatures. The immersive experience of seeing these tracks up close is truly remarkable and offers a unique perspective on the prehistoric world. Additionally, the park offers a range of outdoor activities such as hiking, camping, fishing, and swimming, making it an ideal destination for adventure and relaxation amidst stunning natural surroundings.
The beauty of Dinosaur Valley State Park extends beyond its dinosaur tracks. With its sprawling landscapes, lush forests, and picturesque river views, the park is a haven for outdoor enthusiasts seeking tranquility and natural beauty. The well-maintained trails offer opportunities for scenic hikes through diverse ecosystems, where visitors can spot a variety of wildlife and bird species. The park's campsites provide a serene escape, allowing visitors to immerse themselves in the peacefulness of nature. Whether you're exploring the dinosaur tracks, enjoying a picnic by the river, or simply taking in the breathtaking scenery, Dinosaur Valley State Park is a true gem that offers a perfect blend of adventure, education, and natural wonders.

Visiting Dinosaur Valley State Park was an experience of mixed emotions. The park itself appeared beautiful, that should have taken us back to a time when dinosaurs roamed the Earth. The iconic dinosaur tracks are a must-see, offering a tangible connection to prehistoric life. However, our trip was somewhat marred by the fact that many of the trails were closed, limiting our ability to explore the park fully.
While the available trails did offer some enjoyment, the closures were a significant letdown, especially for avid hikers like us looking for a full day of adventure. The visitor center was informative, and the staff were friendly, but it couldn’t completely make up for the restricted access.
Despite the setbacks, we hiked the couple miles of trail that were open. I’d recommend checking trail availability in advance if you’re planning a trip. It's a fantastic park under normal circumstances, but our experience was not as enriching as we had hoped.

Just visited this amazing park for the second time on September 30, 2023. It’s simply incredible—hundreds of dinosaur footprints made by at least 5 different species over 100 million years ago when the limestone river bed was a muddy seashore or saltwater marsh. In addition to the river, where you can walk and hike when the water level’s down, there’s also miles of excellent hiking and walking trails throughout the park that offer easy to moderately difficult hiking and scenic views from the limestone cliffs overlooking the river. Adults and children love this place because it’s beautiful, fascinating, and there’s lots to do.

Wow. Great experience. Knowledgeable rangers, engaged and enthusiastic. The hiking was fun, the river and rocky shoreline picturesque, and the dinosaur footprints- amazing! We camped there (primitive) and our campsite was fantastic. Set in the woods, large, had a high hook for storing trash/food off the ground, and a nice set up for a grill/fire ring. Super family friendly…we have already made plans to head back again.

The park was great! Only 1 camping loop (non primitive). Some of the spots were very close together so make sure you look at pictures. (If your going with friends may be cool to be 1 ft away.) Bathrooms were clean. The trails were closed due to rain when we got there 1/5/24 and 1/6/24. We we hiked around inner trails, to gift shop and dinosaur models. We then took a trip to Dinosaur World. (See that review for more info). On 1/7/24 we got coffee and hot chocolate with the rangers and talked by the fire. (Recommend cowboy coffee). We took a long hike and met up for the Tracks Talk. I recommend doing this as we would have had trouble finding the tracks without the ranger pointing them out. She explained the history of the park and the dinosaurs. There are miles of trails but most were closed. Several parks as well.

I came here today for the first time and brought my kids with me. We were super excited to see the dinosaur tracks and go swimming in the river. The kids had a blast in the river while I did all the work searching for the tracks. I was able to find two of them so that was super cool for us to see. We had a blast swimming. It was freezing like ice but we eventually adjusted to it a little. I would highly recommend wearing water shoes as there's parts in it that has a lot of rocks. The views were breath taking though! We loved it and are glad to get to add it to our experiences!

I've enjoyed visiting and camping here at Dinosaur valley State Park since I was a child. I enjoy the camping areas with the electric and water outlets, clean restrooms and showers are nearby. There is also primative camping near the river and horse trails. The trails range from easy to moderate and some areas have dinosaur tracks. The rangers are informative about the park and the park has areas with historical information posts. The sceneries are absolutely beautiful to walk through and look at — nature photographers would definitely enjoy the natural views and lookout points. One of my favorite seasons to visit is during the Fall and beginning of Winter. IF you are going to try and camp near the holidays... best to make reservations well in advance as the park fills up quickly.

I’ve lost count of how many times we’ve been here but it never disappoints. We had a wonderful RV site for our trailer with plenty of shade. The Paluxy was low on water but we enjoyed walking in the low parts and looking at the dinosaur tracks. The rocks are slippery so take caution when traversing them. Make sure you get a spot that fits your trailer since some of the spots are small.

It is a must-see and must-do adventure waiting for you and your family and friends. Had an absolute blast Saturday evening and Sunday morning checking out the dinosaur tracks. The adults were just as giddy as the children seeing the drought revealed tracks. Wished my grown sons were with us because the tracks were underwater years ago when we first tried to see them. Be sure to make a reservation because many people want to see the dinosaur tracks before the rain returns.

This is a beautiful park with an extensive amount of things to do, We spent 4 days here and still didn't get around to seeing/doing everything.
Of course the dinosaur tracks make for the main attraction, and the dinosaurs were especially amazing for my dinosaur-loving toddler.
The Blue Hole was great for swimming, and there was a beach area to set up on.
Swimming at Rock Beach was fun too, and the sandy beach area was perfect for relaxing. The river bed was pretty mucky, though, making it less appealing for swimming.
There are miles of trails for exploring, with varying difficulty levels. A lot of these trails are shaded, too, which is great during the hotter part of the day.
Campsites were roomy and well kept. We stayed at campsite 20, which backed up to trails leading to Rock Beach and river access.
Bathrooms and showers were quite nice.

Made reservations when the talk of the town was that the dry weather uncovered many tracks not viewed in years. Well, my luck brought lots of rain just before my stay which covered all the tracks and closed all the trails! We still had fun camping though. This is a beautiful park and is probably the best maintained that I have been to in many years. Staff was super friendly and offered needed advice. restrooms and showers were heated and welcomed on this freezing weekend. I plan to come back when it gets dry again to see the tracks.

If you drive 2 hours to see dinosaur stuffs, you will be disappointed. Yes there are some footprints in the river, not many, but that’s about it. It’s a beautiful scenic river. And the park is a great place for hiking camping and dipping into water.

We spent a day in the park and it was amazing experience hiking and exploring the park. The rangers are very friendly and experienced. Look for events on thier website to explore more about the park. Plenty of parking , if u arrive later after 10 am on a weekend, it may take sometime to check in . Only suggestion I have for everyone is to prepare lot of hydration yourself when you plan to hike . The hikes are mid-level difficulties and plenty of places in between to rest. Picnic tables and remote restrooms are limited. Pets are welcome on hikes and parks as long as they are on leash.

Loved it! Seeing actual dinosaur prints in person was amazing. The park is beautifully kept and easy to get around even for first time visitors. It does have a limit on how many visitors can go in so make a reservation online. Bring your walking shoes and prepare to get them wet or in my case take them off to cross the stream to the dinosaur prints. Totally worth it! We also enjoyed the solar viewing where we got to see real time solar flares and sun spots which was really cool. And the hiking trails were great and well marked. Highly recommended!

I have seen pictures from Dinosaur Valley for years. I had a book in the 70s which showed the tracks.
Going here with kids was amazing and well worth it.
We went super early to avoid crowds and did a self guided tour. My biggest learning is even if tracks are “visible” they may still be under water. Luckily we were in hiking shorts. Be prepared to get wet if the water is up.
I would recommend a rager hosted talk or guided tour.
Avoid the “Creationist Museum” on the way to the park. Luckily it always appears closed.

Lovely place. We went to the park to watch the total solar eclipse that was the event of the decade. The park had set up some telescopes from volunteers, were educating kids, and were handing out eclipse glasses. Kudos the team there for having parking space for all of us to have a good view for the eclipse. We didn’t really have time to explore the park for the dinosaur fossils. But hopefully we will be able to see them the next time we are there.

Great park we visited here from Late March to Early April, the camp ground stays busy continuously, sites are close to each other so there is no privacy, some of the tables and fire pits are joined at the hip, great for a family event and need a couple of sites.
Bathroom is clean 2 stalls and 2 urinals, showers in separate door 3 stalls, only one restroom per gender in the camping loop of 45 sites so it can be busy in the afternoon.
There is a restroom at the HQ bldg and another one at the day use area.
90% of the trails are across the river, and have a potential to be closed after rains.
All 3 river crossings are about ankle deep to mid thigh depending on the trail you choose.
We enjoyed our stay, staff was extremely friendly and helpful and accommodating.
The only bad thing I had was the port-a-potty by the dinosaur tracks was filled to the brim with waste it seems that it would be cleaned out more often than it had been.
Over 150 life-size models in natural outdoor settings, plus a fossil dig, playground, museum & more.
Perfect experience for our group; 3yo, 4yo, 14yo and 2 adults! All the plaques are easy to read and full of good information. The mineral buckets were super fun and a great bargain! They have a gift shop with tons of options, moving dinosaurs inside and a great mostly shaded walk through dinosaurs!

This place is amazing to go to, not just for kids but for adults as well. My 4yr old daughter has been talking about going here for over a year now and we finally got to go with my mom and two nieces and we all had a blast. They have a huge play ground, their museum was fantastic with the animatronic dinosaurs, meteorites, fossil's, all kinds of different teeth, tusk's, and more. The dinosaur walk path was great. I would recommend anyone that hasn't been to make the trip it's worth it and everyone will have fun. The prices are not as bad as I thought they would be. It was not crowded at all, and there is a pond with fish you can get food for and feed. And you have to check out the gift shop they have it's just amazing and have all kinds of neat stuff to get from toys to jewelry, to beautiful stones, fossil's, and gems.

We had a great time. Most of the fun stuff does cost quite a bit of money though. But I think it was worth it. When we were there, they had some paleontologists teach us about different bones! It was a bummer to drive as far as we did only to have the museum closed for the owner's private party. Kind of annoying. You would think they could have at least discounted the entry ticket. But I think we would go again. Hopefully the museum is open next time.

Took our 3 yo grandson there. It was great. There was a place to dig for bones, a long hike with lots of replicas, a huge playground, mini golf, digging for fossils, and a museum with animotronic dinosaurs (a little scary for him). You could easily bring a sack lunch and spend a good chunk of the day there. We went early before the school buses arrived. It will definitely tire kids out. Good for older kids as well. Even educational for us as well.

Came up from Houston for the day and the kids had a great time. Prices were reasonable for the fossil dig and gem mining 💎 ⛏️ my oldest (5) had more fun than my youngest (2.5) but the gift shop was well-staffed and the souvenirs weren’t exorbitant like I expected. Museum had a cool assortment of animatronic dinosaurs which my youngest thought were real so that was fun lol. Will come again in a couple years when they’re older. Great playground!

Dinosaur World is a cool and educational exhibit featuring a walking trail filled with dinosaur statues, an indoor museum with fossils and ending with animatronic dinosaurs, a children's playground, a picnic area and a vast gift shop. I'd say the dinosaur statues along the self-guide trail is more of artistic installations than anatomically / scientifically accurate dinosaur statues (look at the spinosaurus exhibit, for example). But regardless, they are really cool and really fun, especially for young'uns hitting their dinosaur phase. Dinosaur World is way out in Glen Rose, so depending on where you are visiting from, it can be quite the drive (we drove from Dallas, on a Saturday morning and it took us exactly 2 hours taking tolls whenever possible). The park can get hot, 92° when we went, so plan accordingly and bring plenty of ice cold water and a picnic basket as there are no snack shop on the ground. We had a lot of fun, we spent about 1.5 hours total before hitting up the Whataburger down the street. We'll definitely return, but we plan to stay over the weekend and visit the Dinosaur Valley State Park and Dinosaur World on separate days.

Nice adventurous place to have fun with kids. They will enjoy about half a mile walk around the park (outdoors), indoor museum to learn history, mining, or fossil digging. Entry could be a little expensive depending on how many people are visiting and is the reason for a 4 star review.
Ahmed shahid — Google review
We all had an awesome time. The boys got to do gem mining and a fossil dig. We loved exploring the park, and all the life size dinosaurs. The store has a bunch of cool items, including authentic, and replica fossils, bones, teeth, etc.

We went to this park the day after thanksgiving in the way back home. My 3 year old was so excited he couldn’t be still and was running down the path like a maniac. The dinosaurs were all so cool with info on each, there were fun and cute games and interactive activities on both ends of the trail as well as a great park. This is the first park I’ve ever seen with so many options for families to have a seat during their stay. And of course, the gift shop was a lot of fun. We got several things there as well. We spent a lot of time in the middle of the trail on the dock feeding the fish and turtles. This was such an adorable place to go and I’m so glad we stopped by. We talked about it many times since we left and intend on going again in the near future.

Great park to visit. We originally were going to the Dinosaur Park right up the road but they were at capacity so we visited Dinosaur World instead. My son loved it and all the kids were happy.
Nuawd MuSiq — Google review
The kids loved this! Lots of dinos to learn about and see life size models on a beautiful walking trail. There is additional stuff to do like "mining" for gems, "digging" for fossils, and "uncovering" a dino skeleton!

Definitely for children. Do not go as a grown person expecting something really cool and magical.
There is a small museum and animatronics section which was cool and kind of scary because they would twitch. They have a gem dig that seemed popular (have to purchase dirt bag) and mini golf section (free with admission I think). Each hole for the mini golf is about 4 feet long and each hole looks almost the same.
The rest of the park is just a horseshoe trail of some plastic dinosaurs in the grass. Some of them look really cool if you believe.
One of the most beautiful gardens I've ever had the pleasure of visiting. They were even kind enough to provide a home for one of our wild rehabbed red eared slider turtles from our reptile rescue Living Wild Outside. I went and checked on her today and she is still happy and healthy. Thank you Clark Gardens for making this world a beautiful place!

OMG!! We took the 1 1\2 hour tour on the golf cart with Beverly as our guide! It... was... wonderful!! She was wonderful!! We got to see the gardens without all the walking. Mainly because we had two beautiful women in their 80's that faired better not walking! She stopped so many times and let us take pictures and told us all the history about the beginning, the owners and everything in between! What a great day!

Beautiful park with tons of nature, trees, plants, ducks, peacocks. so much acreage to explore and ponds and sights to see. the area is large and can get easy to get lost but that is simply because there is so much to offer. the gardens are deep in weatherford so expect a drive. there may be weddings and if that is the case you will unfortunately miss out on a beautiful part of the gardens so be wary to not tread close to the venue while exploring out parts of the garden. there were peacocks roaming and beautiful orange fishes.

3-13-22 - Stopped by Clark Gardens on our way to Mineral Wells ... it was a beautiful day to walk the gardens ... it was fun get pics of what was in bloom - some bulb flowers and a few others ... the grounds were beautiful but there were some things that need some maintenance/be tended too/ - hopefully they will get to them this spring.

Great place!! Beautiful! The smells are incredible! Wish I could have walked around a little more… next time for sure! Tons of parking, bathrooms surprisingly clean and only $10! What a deal!

Beautiful gardens to spend the day at. I can see why couples would want to use the Gardens for their wedding. I went during one of their festivities, and I had a wonderful time visiting with local vendors and sampling their offerings. The Gardens also sell their plants for a fantastic price

The fall colors were Just beautiful. What a gem. They have a little rotating museum display. Right now it was “women in flight”. What a nice little break in the middle of our nature walk.

Clark Gardens is a must see. To truly experience all of it I suggest scheduling a whole day. I'm fortunate to have watched it flourish over the last 15 years.
Aside from the thriving ecosystem there is a wedding chapel that can be rented. There is building dedicated to an extraordinary model train display that will wow children and adults alike.
Michael L Murphy — Google review
Don’t be discouraged by the three stars. We had a very pleasant walk around the gardens in early March and were very aware that this was way too early in the season for many flowers. However, we have walked through botanic gardens in many cities and states and Clark Gardens has likely seen much better days. They are in desperate need of about 100 volunteers and two or three substantial sponsors/endowments. Having said all that let me repeat that it is certainly worth a visit and if we are in the area again we would go back.
WMW — Google review
Have visited as a patron and garden lover, as well as a wedding vendor. The landscape is beautifully maintained with winding pathways that lead to new suprises around every turn. It's a lovely place to host a wedding, with quarters for the bridal suite , large areas to have a tent reception, and a sweet chapel for the ceremony! Passion Flowers has enjoyed providing florals here and appreciate the friendly staff and carts available for use!
I highly recommend this place for a day outing or event space!

Nice place. The model trains were cool. Dropped in from my bike ride to relax. Park map is helpful as you won't get much help from staff.

Beautiful place. Lots to see. Beautiful plants and flowers. If you like model trains, they have a beautiful setup, with a lot of model Trains! I loved it! I had better videos of the trains, even inside the building, but couldn't upload the videos. Sorry!

Clark Gardens truly is a labor of love. I see the dedication and hard work that has gone into it over the years, and the story behind the build really spoke to us. The garden was much bigger than expected, and my favorite parts were: the White Garden (very emotional), the model train setup (I’m not even into trains and this part was so fun!), Conifer Way, and all the little islands in the middle of the ponds. I do believe we even got to wave at Mr. Clark as he drove by on a golf cart—the pamphlet said he is 93 and still works out there every day! That is amazing. If you live in the DFW area (or are visiting) Clark Gardens is worth a visit!
Eliana Costa — Google review
My family usually goes to the season opener featuring the train show. This year did not disappoint! Lots of trains, not only the special setup, but also the permanent Clark Gardens outdoor G Scale layout. Of course the plants are starting to recover from the hot summer, so it is always great to see them. The favorite spot for my wife and I is the secret area under the waterfall with the wisteria. We always spend some time there together listening to the water, enjoying the cool, and the pretty view. Our other spot is the beautiful chapel where she and I exchanged wedding vows before our official marriage. We always consider that date our anniversary where we committed ourselves to each other in God's house. If anyone is looking for a peaceful stroll with nice views, Clark Gardens is a great choice!
Scenic area featuring trails to town, camping areas & mineral-rich waters for swimming.
I loved this park. We stayed for a couple of days where we were able to hike two trails. One of which was right on the lake and the other one went along the river. The trails were maintained and well marked. The campground itself is beautiful. There are several sites that are right on the lake. There were quite a few people camping here, even in January but it never seemed crowded or loud. I felt very safe in this campground, and would love to come back during warmer weather.

We always love this park. It is a great place to camp. The only negative is the lack of full hook-up sites. It has a nice swimming area and beach. There is also rock climbing here.

My family had an awesome fun time fishing and swimming at this park. The scenery of the water is so stunning and since the park is so big, you should prepare for a couple of days to explore the vast land. The amenities of the park also include camping, kayaking, walking the trails, geochacheing, birdwatching and bonus 🧗♀️ rock climbing/repelling.

We stayed in the Post Osk campground and loved it. Even though there were campsites around us, it felt semi-private. Sites were big and laid out nicely. I was happily surprised that they didn't have a fire ban. The town of Mineral Wells is less than 2 miles up the road, which was great because we needed a couple of things.
The Penitentiary Hollow trail was a nice hike and the best in the Park.
Restrooms were well kept.
I didn't give 5 stars for 2 reasons:
1) The other hiking trails were just "meh". They were long, but no scenic overlooks.
2) They have a trading post on site, but it is privately owned and they do not take your State Park's pass for a discount.
Heather Romero — Google review
The lake is so clean and beautiful. I kayak and they have a kayak/canoe launch ramp like I've never seen before and it's such a great idea! I had reservations and check in was fast and friendly. It's very quiet this time of year and I love it here. The trailer spots are all back-in but they have generous room to do so . Normally I avoid parks with no pull thru spots but I was in and set up in about 10 minutes. Large picnic tables, fire rings and separate BBQ pits at every site. The bathrooms have hot showers and flush toilets. There are Bird watching blinds and great fishing. And the little library to share a nook to read. Have fun and Happy New Year 2024🕛🎉🎉

Wonderful place, plenty of trails and level sites. They have a giant fire pit here worth seeing and good for larger groups. At&t service is great here and Verizon service is subpar here. For those interested they also have book exchanges near some bathrooms

One of TX least known parks, I think. Found by accident but so glad we did. Nice camp grounds, however LOTS of highway, 18 wheeler, noise. The park itself is a gem. Wish we could have stayed longer, and the gift shop would have been open. Nice Rangers, too.Rock climbing and repelling there.

Love this place! We went for a hike at 7am. Felt like we had the park to ourselves. The trails were great! The equine trails are wider and flatter. The primitive trail is more challenging with rocks and elevation changes. You can really do some distance with these trails. We ended up doing a little over 6 miles at the cross timbers trail.

Beautiful place for hiking. We went for a hike & to take a kayak out and enjoyed it so much we decided to purchase a yearly pass. It's much larger than I was expecting. The park staff is friendly and knowledgeable. It's worth a trip out whether it's for water fun, hiking, or both! It looks to have some pretty great rv & camping areas. There's a store on the property where you can purchase necessities and even rent boats, kayaks, paddle boards etc. We very much enjoyed our visit and can't wait to go back.

What fun park! We rode the trailway from the state park to the town and back and it was a great ride. Also loved exploring Penitentiary Hollow and the the lakefront trail. Good campsites and clean bathrooms! They haven’t been updated yet but you can tell the park hosts care for the park! Can’t wait to come back and ride more of the trailway and explore more trails!

Loved the park! My 3rd official one so far on my State Park passport. The rocky terrain makes for a fun technical hike. The rock climbing area with huge boulders was the highlight. That place was so amazing. I heard there was a section somewhere nearby that you can make your way through a narrow canyon like crevices. Probably best I didn't find it, I wouldn't have fit through anyways.
Their signature "wild woman" bar, mocha chocolate and dark chocolates are in another level... They have a variety of other hard to find chocolates and the staff is extremely kind. I'll go to the Wiseman House on every chance I get of traveling by Hico.

Super cute house full of delicious treats. We got the little chocolate truffle bites, wild woman, kahlua and raspberry. They were all delicious, the raspberry was a super bright flavor in the dark chocolate bites. They had something there for everyone in my family and we all had our sweet tooth satisfied. Hope to be back again someday!

A delightful find in a small town that is worth a visit. The delectable chocolates are made by the owners and their shop contains a variety of other items that are great for gifts as well. My favorite recommendation: sipping chocolate. This very rich powdered chocolate is the perfect decadence to enjoy on a cold day. You can prepare it with heated water or milk and you need just a small cup to - as the name states - sip the very rich liquid. Definitely worth a visit to Hico!

I have been wanting to stop here on our way to Wichita Falls for over a decade now, but have never had the opportunity. Well today I made an executive decision, being the only parent in the car this time, and stopped! Lol 😂 I absolutely loved it!!! Besides the chocolate they had all sorts of adorable gifts! The ambiance was beautiful, vintage and so calming. I bought an Alice in Wonderland book, a t-shirt and some fudge. The people were so, so nice as well. They greeted me as soon as I walked in and one lady even gave my boys free chocolate dipped peeps for Easter! 🐇🐣🎊 I will definitely return!

If you are looking for some delectable and affordable chocolates this is the place to go. All the chocolates are homemade and offer many varieties of chocolates, homemade goods and even doggie treats as well. My favorite chocolate that I always have to get are the peanut butter meltaways. The staff is always friendly and welcoming everytime we go. It's a 1 hour and half drive from where I stay but it's worth the drive.

This is my absolute favorite place to shop for chocolates and well, teas, jams, fudge, etc... They have something for all chocolate lovers!Which is great since some like milk, some prefer dark. The chocolate is absolutely delicious and once you try it, it'll make those well known candy bars taste plain. It is on the pricier side, but the quality is great. They recently added on dog biscuits, which our pups seem to enjoy. Make the trip, look around and enjoy the experience!

We recently came across your craft soda while down in Santo Texas. After returning home, we discovered none are available in our town. Do not bother stopping. The museum is closed, the soda shop is closed. They claim the gift shop/store is open but it’s really just a counter with a glass wall and one very rude employee. I feel bad because Dublin used to be a cute town with some fun things to do. Unfortunately, covid has choked them out a completely . The little downtown strip is dilapidated and sad. Most of the businesses and restaurants have closed down. All that’s left of Dublin is a Dairy Queen and a dollar general. RIP

I was a little sad when it was closed plus they used to make the old fashioned suds from a fountain and that place was closed too. The only reason I’m giving 3 stars is because the soda is the absolute best I’ve had - especially the grape! Dublin Bottling Works was our FIRST stop today on our week-long family road trip, and I was excited to share the experience of stopping in Dublin for sodas with my kids as I had done as a child with my parents. I knew the soda shop was shut down, and I was ok with that. What we didn’t know was how much of an inconvenience our family would be to the gift shop attendant when we walked in, so much so that my husband saw her roll her eyes at me while I browsed the merchandise. We of course said nothing, but even my kids mentioned how unwelcomed they felt as we left the shop. It’s a shame that such a nostalgic and wonderful experience and product that I was so looking forward to sharing with my children is now represented by such a rude and inhospitable person - the FACE of the business for customers. Maybe rethink who runs the storefront so that you don’t end up losing loyal, generational customers.

This is a awesome fun place , takes you back in time in the old soda fountain. The tour of bottling company and Dr Pepper museum was great! The history of this place is very interesting being a Dr Pepper fan. The memorabilia is some of the best and probably one of the largest collections.

I hate the company that made this place stop selling its magnificent sugar dr. Pepper. Back in the day this place was what made Dublin a interesting town and place to stop. It’s still a nice little shop but it’s just not the same like it use to be sadly.

I would definitely give them 5 stars even though I was not be able to be there before they close! This trip was in my bucket list for a long time. It did worth driving from Dallas all the way there tho! The facility was big and you could even see the inside from the windows outside. Leave early and you can make it before they close at 5. There is a shop next to it you can buy your favorite flavor soda, beer or ice cream. I did really enjoy visiting this lovely town! I would definitely come back again! ☘️

This place is legendary for their history of making Dr. Pepper with pure cane sugar. But, since the corporation took that away from them they are now bottling their own sodas. If you're driving through, it may be worth a stop.

We were disappointed that none of the machinery really worked, they could have it running just for tours, they had one machine that they showed as a demo but it didn't do all the things it could do. We were also disappointed that they didn't offer us a taste of any of the sodas. My husband has diabetes and can't really have it but could have a sip. The museum tour by the employee was nice and informative.

The facility of where it all started for the infamous Dr. Pepper soft drink we know today. But before it was known as Dr. Pepper, Dublin Bottling Works is the more humbling beginnings Location offers 2 types of tours that shares the history of the drink and it's branding better than I can. Both of which suited for all ages. Guided and unguided tours. However with the guided tours, patrons will have the ability to create there own "Dr. Pepper" soft drink to take home with you. Plus it's a good memorabilia to take with you whether you drink your concoction or not. The visitor center offers numerous flavors thru out the years Dublin has been running including their original flavors. It's a pleasant visit for anyone who wishes to Branch out.

Good customer service, good prices. Very limited selection and the Dr Pepper museum is closed so it's a consolation.

We love it here. All the boaters tie up in the bay that you reach by going between hells gates. Hell's Gates are the two giant cliffs that you always see pictures of. Get there early for a good spot and to enjoy some solitude before everyone arrives. It's very busy on the weekend as you would expect.

Stayed in a cabin in the state park area where Texas residents can fish without a license. Beds were uncomfortable. A short walk to the fishing dock that we usually had to ourselves. Nice roped off swim area with picnic tables and shelters. Very quiet and clean area. Beautiful sunrises over the lake. There is a store that you can get some essential items from. This is one of the nicer state parks that is close to home for me. Pretty well maintained and lots of shade. No wifi. But for the cost it's great. $25 gets you water and electricity and of course a dump station with nearby restrooms and showers. BBQ grills, fire pits and paved roads and sites. There are two sites that are the best ones and close to the water. Of course if you're off the water a little bit further you'll get sewer as well. I'd like to tell you but I'm a little bit stingy and what if I go and you got my spot. They're all nice though.

Nice trails, nice campsites. We stayed in the Council Bluff campground and had a great view. Lots of CCC constructed facilities from lodges to benches. Enjoyed a very relaxing four days. Hardly any other campers this time of year and weekdays. The restrooms were clean. Looked like very nice picnic and playground areas. Didn't do any fishing. The lake right now (2/2024) is about 9' low.

Came here on a weekend camping trip and it was great! Beautiful scenery, EXTREMELY clean bathrooms with showers. The camping, picnic, swimming, and fishing areas were all very well maintained and very clean. The park has very nice trails to go hiking/walking and a very beautiful large swimming beach. It was probably the best park I've been to, but then again, I haven't gone to many. I definitely want to come back to visit again. It was a great experience.
(Burn Ban was in effect so we could only use propane gas to cook - no charcoal or wood burning - and we didn't get to make s'mores, but the sites did have fire pits, which were real nice.)

Lake Brownwood State Park is so beautiful in spring. My only complaint is the cabins leak rain near the fireplace & the trails could be marked much better using a color coded system. Other than that, highly recommend the park for a nice getaway.

Had a nice relaxing time. Did some fishing and walking around. Nice park and the weather was beautiful. Fishing wasn't too good but that is why it's called fishing and not catching. Regardless it was a nice getaway and the park services keeps the park well groomed and trash free. Lake levels are low so that definitely had a bit to do with the fishing. I caught 3 freshwater drum, a couple of small catfish and several brim. Take some time for yourself and go fish and relax. You and I know it's about relaxing.

Where to begin?! The staff is AMAZING. Cannot thank them enough for their kindness and hospitality. Very warm and welcome feeling as soon as we got into the park at check in. Our tent only campsite is gorgeous. The scenery and sunsets alone is worth the visit.. the kids loved the open areas that are spikey free and go right up to the water. It’s too cold so we didn’t swim, but we fished and enjoyed the water all the same. We stayed at a tent only electric site on our last visit and that was very nice as well. The history of the park is really neat to learn and teach your kids or educate yourself on. Lots of stone structures were built by he CCC here that you can still enjoy today. They have really nice cabins as well as lodges, screen shelters, electric hook up sites, and water only sites. we stayed at an electric holy tent Site with water our first visit and a primitive site our second visit. My only complaint would be that their showers ran really really hot and then went cold after about five minutes.. but i think that met by a temporary hiccup?
Painted sunsets and rainbow lake 💕 it’s stunning.
We stayed here 6 days this visit, and could not have been happier with our visit. Thank you, Lake Brownwood SP staff and volunteers!

The place is great, but it depends what you are looking for. If you want a more private space, with bunch of trees between you and others, then you should look somewhere else. This place is perfect for multiple families going together. Some areas can fit 10 families staying in circle, having a great green spot in the middle. […] The shore of the lake is not quite safe for the kids (most part of it). […] The trails are very nice. […] get your bike, cause it’s a great place for that as well. […] the restrooms were not very clean, but the hot water was plenty of it. […] the fire places provide a grill as well, which is very nice. P.S.: we slept in our own tent, so cannot really say what the cabin experience would look like. Great place 👍

Historic Fort Phantom Hill is a 19th-century fort site with three original stone buildings, offering self-guided tours for history enthusiasts. The park is well-maintained and has walking trails that wind through the fort ruins with labeled signs depicting an old hospital and blacksmith. Visitors can enjoy the beauty of wildflowers blooming in spring while exploring the historical site, which provides a glimpse into Texas's rich history.
The park was well maintained and very enjoyable. I was born in Abilene but moved away in grade school. Although I had visited Fort Phantom lake as a child, I had never seen the fort ruins. I would highly recommend a visit to anyone interested in historical sites and Texas history.

Great to be able to see a little history!! Go at your own pace and get to view up close the remains of the fort.

Very cool. Short walking trail that winds through the fort. Old hospital and blacksmith labeled by signs. Very neat.

It's pretty much a self guided tour of a fort from the mid 1800's ruins. There's the obvious next to the entrance building, but if you walk around and look you'll see it was quite the complex in its day!

My husband and I enjoyed this stop bit our kids were less impressed. They wanted to go inside everything, which, of course, we did not let them do due to a host of safety concerns (snakes, building age, cacti, etc.). They did enjoy seeing the canon and the remains of the covered wagons.

There are other forts in Texas that are better preserved, such as Fort Davis and Fort Richardson. Glad someone is preserving the little there is left here (mainly chimneys). Beware of the grasshoppers.
Katherine Mc — Google review
Beautiful and well-preserved piece of history! It was such a joy to visit and learn more about how the people who spent part of their lives at Fort Phantom Hill shaped westward expansion. Thank you to all who have helped preserve this treasure and maintained the grounds!

Short and super easy hike around some ruins. The area is clean and well take care of. The ruins are really pretty and well preserved! The trail isn't super well marked, but easy enough to follow!

Free and self-guided. No tours are available, so it's up to you to be your own guide. Pamphlets are available at the entrance to aid in your visit. WARNING: Be aware of the possibility of snakes during warmer weather.

If you like Texas history this is a pretty cool place. It’s a lot bigger and more spread out than I was expecting. You have to really appreciate the ruins and the story behind them. Yes there are tons of spiders, grasshoppers, etc but it’s out in the country so you should expect that. Just walk around and enjoy the peace and quiet for about 30 minutes and just imagine it as a it were in 1850, a bustling military fort.

This was a beautiful old site for a fort that once stood here. It had many trails to walk and some of the structure is still there. It was so pretty in the spring time with all the wildflowers blooming. They also had very clean bathrooms. Highly recommended.
Park setting hosting 600 animals, a safari train, giraffe feeding, classes, concessions & more.
At first when we walked in we thought it was going to be small. But this was the best zoo we have been to so far! We fed the Giraffes and ducks. We ate some Nachos and were greeted by awesome staff!!!! The exhibits are kept up and the animals are very well taken care of. We didn't realize that the rides close early and we had purchased tokens. The staff let our group ride the Carousel twice so we could use our tokens. We purchased awesome items in the shop. By far a great experience. Thank you for having our families out and giving me a awesome wedding anniversary! 😭💕

We loved the Abilene Zoo! It's a small Zoo but it's expanding. It was such a pretty walk, very clean, lots of fun things for kids and adults. I was just really impressed with how pretty and green it was. The service throughout was great too!

I have my zoo membership and definitely take advantage of it. When my family came to visit, they had a blast. Their favorite attraction was the giraffes 🦒 ✨️ This zoo is very clean, and animals look animated and happy. I try to take people as much as I can, especially when it's their first time. KIDS LOVE IT ❤️ and they decorate very beautifully for the holidays. With my membership, I get half price off any other zoo in the state of 6 its a win-win 😊

Very nice employees. Fast services. Clean park. Definitely family friendly with good children interactions. When feeding the giraffes, they give direct instructions. The only problem we ran into was when we brought $10 tickets but all the birds but a select few were not in the zoo due to the bird flu. So that was upsetting since they didn’t have that anywhere.
Carley Alexis Holder — Google review
Prices for entry are incredibly reasonable. It doesn't look like a big zoo, but there are actually quite a lot of animals to see. It was a lovely way to spend a day with my family, and we had a wonderful time.

Nice little zoo. Was great that we got to feed the giraffes and many of the animals were out and about even though it’s January. Don’t miss feeding all the fish out on the dock too. Looks like they’re fixing some exhibits and updating too. Just beware, the line for the gift shop to check out can take forever.

We always have a great time visiting the Abilene Zoo. The staff is friendly and helpful. I would consider this zoo on par with larger zoos due to the affordable cost, the exhibits, and staff interactions. If you look online, you can usually find a coupons for buy one adult, a kid gets in free.

This is a great zoo! Lots to see and do for the kids and reasonably priced. Go early, like when it opens to avoid the crowd. Still isn't very crowded later in the day but I enjoyed having free reign. Must do the giraffe experience!

Wonderful small zoo! Two visits to review- January 10 and March 15, 2023. The Jan 10 visit was mid week on a warm winter weekday and we had the place practically to ourselves. Many Christmas decorations were still up to enjoy which made us want to go back in December to see it all lit up. Feeding the giraffes was so fun. Feeding the fish at the lake observation deck was enjoyable too- there was a gumball type machine for getting fish food. The March 15 visit was colder and windy and very crowded with spring break visitors. There were special shows that day to enjoy. The sand play area was enjoyed by younger children. The train and carousel were fun to do. The gift shop is large and well stocked. Parking is level, paved and ample. Near highway access and airport. A splash pad is next for summer fun. Such a great place for families to enjoy!

My Daughter and I had such a blast here! Lions and Cougars were so awesome, Bobcat and river otters were super neat. A raven that’s super intelligent, fun train ride this zoo was very fun. Staff was really nice and helpful.

The Boo at the Zoo this year was wonderful! Very well run and managed, with a lot of fun activities, booths, and events. The crowds weren't anything to sniff at, but the zoo staff and volunteers were on top of everything the entire time! All areas were clean, the food was good, and you could launch a pumpkin into the lake with a trebuchet.
A+ experience, definitely going again next year.

Abilene Zoo is a favorite to visit for my two kids and I! This visit they were all set up for their Boo Zoo event and it looked amazing! We had a great time and the staff was great as always, we even got to meet a capybara that was out for a walk! Highly suggest a visit if you can make it, try to give yourself at least a few hours to enjoy it.

Awesome experience at the zoo! We did a "behind the scenes" experience where we met the anteater Demo and it was really informative! Our guides (Alex & Morgan) were passionate and told us a lot about the planned expansion of the zoo too. Plus, you can feed the giraffes (no reservation required!). Would for sure book a "behind the scenes" tour again!
Frontier Texas! is a unique museum located in Abilene which showcases exhibits on the Old West and frontier life of Texas. The museum's focus centers on the conflicts between cultures during this era, presented in a theatrical manner. The layout is well-organized and informative, with reasonable admission prices available through coupon books found in the foyer. Visitors can expect to spend around 1.5 hours exploring this educational attraction that provides insight into an important period of American history.
Can’t say enough good things about Frontier Texas. We celebrated my daughters 3rd birthday by visiting Frontier Texas on Texas Independence Day! The staff was very accommodating and made special arrangements just for us! The exhibits were fantastic and there is a huge area outside for the kids to run and play!

Unique museum in the heart of Abilene. Focuses on the life on the frontier mostly until the arrival of the trains. Conflicts between cultures. All presented in a somewhat theatrical way. Nicely laid out. Informative and entertaining for a reasonable price (note: There are coupon books to get a discount. You can find those coupon books in the foyer). Well worth a visit. I spent 1.5 hours here.

Excellent museum with great informative and interactive exhibits with an introductory video and immersive movie that causes you to feel almost as if you're experiencing the events. I spent a lot of time there and still did not finish viewing all of the rich history that is shared. But I am a history buff. They also have a nice gift shop with a great variety of items and gift options. The museum guides were also very helpful and welcoming as well as supportive in your enjoying your time there.

Wow! I really only came to frontier Texas to check out the Giant skull artwork, but then was absolutely blown away by the quality of the museum itself! I've been to a lot of museums! And this one packs more relevant and interesting information into a relatively small building than I've seen anywhere in the world.
As a born and bred Texan, I was surprised to learn new things here, but around every corner there was new information and a fresh re-examination of the history of Texas expansion. I didn't find it to be whitewashing any historical tragedies, nor did I find it to be exaggerating them. It seemed like an honest unbiased take on history. Very refreshing!
The artwork and sculptures were absolutely world class throughout the facility, and every inch of the place including the gift shop was amazingly well crafted.
In short don't make the mistake that I made of thinking you're going to pop in and out of this place in 15 minutes. We were here for 3 hours, and I could have stayed longer.

Really neat visitors center as you enter Abilene TX. There is a lot of great information inside about not only the town itself, which is considered to be the storybook capital, but also of TX. They have a museum you can walk through for a small fee. Our kids enjoyed checking out the giant skull they have. If you are in town you must stop in to grab a map of the town and see where all of the storybook sculptures and gardens are located. Makes for a fun family activity.

Wonderful interactive looked into history! We thoroughly enjoyed our time at this museum. It was a very educational place to see & loved all the interactive tools for learning. Holographic stories from the people, an 360 theater to watch stories of the wild west. An absolute wonder place to see if you have the time! Very good price, also.

Basically the visitor center but with a really nice gift shop and lawn in the back complete with oversized (plastic) buffalo skull - it's kind of like a slide for kids. Inside, the museum/experience is fairly cheap and very high tech! There's a starting film, an ending film-in-the-round with effects and lots of pepper's ghost/hologram effects between. There's one cast of characters throughout and I only wish they didn't repeat dialogue. But overall, it's very well done and engaging. I learned about the Goodnight-Loving Trail here which I found more about as I continued my road trip north to Pueblo, CO. Just on the whole really interesting. I was told it would take 1.5 hours to go through, I think it took me only an hour or so, but I didn't press every button for every recording.
Historic frontier-town complex of buildings from the 1880s to 1920s with an art gallery & gift shop.
Historical village is a must see. I personally met a Baptist Minister whose Father and Grandfather gave their very first sermon in this very church. This info in this village is far greater than many historical sites we have visited across the globe. Seriously. Although it is self-guided, it has more info at hand than any tour guide has ever given us.

We really enjoyed this stop! We have ancestors who were part of the founding of Buffalo Gap,TX, so this was so neat to see and take the kids to!
A lot of neat history, I love that things are not barred off so children do get a full experience (parents be responsible!)
Only thing I would say a bit negative, it was extremely dusty, spider webs, mice droppings... things could be kept up a lot better.

We took a picnic lunch and spent the afternoon exploring the buildings, playing on the marri-go-round, and reading fun facts. There are about 10 building including a bank, post office, jail, court house, blacksmith, and gas station on 4 acres. There is a covered picnic area and small play ground. This site is part of Abilene's Round Up pass (available at the Abilene visitor center) making it a fun cheap activity.
If you're into frontier history, or even US history, at all this is a must see. I was fortunate enough to meet the owners and tour with an individual that did much of the restoration work. The fort has some fascinating history and stories.
Also, if you're coming from tbe south google will guide you to a cemetery nearby, keep going about another mile to the entrance.

One of the most interesting old forts I’ve visited.
It is not your typical ‘tourist attraction’.
This is REAL History!
The museum is especially well done. You could easily spend several hours looking at their amazing collection of old west artifacts, including a stagecoach! If you’re interested in 1800’s firearms, The gun exhibit is a must see!
Finally, The ATV tour of the fort and the restored buildings was fascinating as our guide was one of the men who actually worked on the restorations. Highly recommend this place if you’re a history buff.

We stopped in without knowing anything about Fort Chadbourne, and we were really glad we did. The fort exceeded our expectations and the staff was exceptionally nice and took the time to show us around personally.
The museum is much more than we expected with a lot of very interesting exhibits and an entertaining film. The fort and stagecoach stop are partially reconstructed. It’s a great stop for anyone interested in western history.

Neat experience, thank you very much for the tour!
I'm an architecture graduate, and am suitably impressed at how well y'all have preserved the buildings on site, especially given the detail given to preserving original stone placements and carvings. Major kudos for that.
Neat collection of historical artefacts as well as a great movie, it's worth the stop even if it's raining.

"Out in the west Texas town of Fort Chadbourne, I fell in love with a real cool museum!"
Incredibly friendly staff—very knowledgeable. One of the largest collections of rifles I've ever seen (including the collection at the Texas A&M Corps of Cadets Center).
Wonderful ruins (both preserved and restored) of a historic fort. Authentic bullet holes in some of the walls—very cool!
The museum is very interactive—you can walk through the buildings, climb into a real stagecoach, play I Spy with a beautiful diorama of the grounds, and ride on saddles while watching about the fort's history.
Any little boy (or big boy) will totally enjoy a trip out here.

Unbelievable!!! What an amazing way to honor and showcase what these amazing women had done for our country and women in general. Everything was beautifully displayed and organized. It was very clear how to follow the order of everything. They had interactive flight link trainers and flight simulators. Everything was perfectly clean. No fingerprints to be seen in any of the glass display. I spend so much time here looking around.

What a beautiful place to tell a really important story! Yes, it's air conditioned! So neat to see the experience of brave women in World War II.

What a fantastic place! I loved hearing about these ladies and their sense of fun and determination to help before the armed forces would officially allow women to fly. The whole museum is done with love and a sense of fun. There is a video that is great to watch at the beginning and a super fun high-tech "training room" in the back that is really neat. And all for a free museum! I just loved the pictures of the ladies in their older years in hangar 2 - what a joyful bunch! And if you like this, go see the Silent Wings Museum in Lubbock. First, there's a better example of the trainers they used there, plus I wonder if some of these ladies towed the men in the gliders at Silent Wings. Regardless, don't miss this museum if you are nearby!

I came here with my father and uncles (all are Army Vets) just the other day. I love history and it was awesome to learn about how women participated in the war effort during WWII.
Just seeing these displays and reading about some of the women and men, was cool. Especially reading about the Black women who became pilots went on to do big and amazong things for the military of the United States.
If you have not been before, I HIGHLY recommend taking a drive to Sweetwater and taking the tour of this awesomely amazing place. Learn your history and how women, white and black, contributed to the military and the war effort.
This is especially gr8 for little girls who have dreams of becoming a pilot or astronuat. Enjoy the photos 😊

A great piece of WWII history. A great museum showcasing the little known history of the gals who contributed to the war effort - with little to no recognition for their contributions until thirty or more years after the fact. My dad was a basic flight instructor there for nine months, up until the training facility was shut down. I donated a few things he had saved as momentos of his time serving there as a young man. He told stories of his time there the rest of his life. If you are an American military history buff, or an aviation aficionado, this place is a must see! Five GOLD Stars!
