They had a lot of amazing plants. They are dug daily. A bunch of collectibles in the barn. Old toys and other collectibles! Just fun to look at all the stuff. They have put together a tap House that will be opening soon. Picked up some nice perennials and two plum trees.

The cutest location! A must see for cider and history lovers. The tasting room has a depth of historical items and the upstairs antique room is a must visit!! The ciders are extremely approachable, semi dry and options for all palates. Don’t sleep on the amazing photo opportunities around the grounds!

Well organized staff and business. We were there for Apple Fest and it was busy busy but got in and out quickly. They have free cider tasting so you can find what you like before buying the whole bottle.

Free shuttle to and from town all day long. Cider tasting and cute gift shop. Unique barn collection and view. Free pony rides was a hit and they were so kind to our son. Good brats and pulled pork, fresh cider, and the goodies to buy. All and all a wonderful place just not somewhere to pick your own.

Fantastic cider. I highly recommend them. My favorite was the blueberry

For $5, you can taste 5 different wines from their lengthy list & keep the collector wine glass. They have a wide variety of apples, jams, & other gifts too. You can also see Lake Superior from the property. I would highly recommend visiting.

Fun stop. The ladies were friendly and knowledgeable about the wine samples. Make sure to go into the barn to see the gems in there.

Apples, ciders, hayrides and good old fashioned family fun! Thanks Bushdog for the hayride orchard tour and balloon animals for the kids!
Lutsen Mountains is a winter sports area with over 90 trails spread across four mountains, featuring modern chair lifts, lodging, and dining options. Nestled in Cook County, it offers dramatic mountainous terrain and stunning views of Lake Superior. Visitors can partake in activities such as hiking, biking, sightseeing, cross-country skiing, alpine skiing, and snowboarding.
Best fall colors experience you can ever experience up north. The gandola ride is worth all the long wait times. Very well maintained and the location is seems to be the best spot for Skiing and other adventure winter sports. Gotta come back in winter to experience this location covered in Snow

We skied here for two days (Dec 28-29). During the holiday season, they require you to purchase a 2-day pass. We picked up the lift tickets and my rentals the evening before to avoid the morning zoo.
Both days, we didn't arrive until about 10 am and by then cars were being parked directed to the lower lots. The trolleys/shuttle to the gondola/lift ticket/rentals were frequent and didn't linger too long. Also, free parking! There's one EV charger in the Papa Charlie's lot but I'm guessing that gets claimed pretty early in the morning. When we were there in the evening, an "ICE-hole" was parked in the stall by the charger.
I could only figure out how to get to Eagle Mountain and Moose Mountain because maps were sparse and I'm directionally challenged. It was cold weather on Dec 29, so they were filling only every other gondola to Moose Mountain and every two gondolas on the return to Eagle Mountain, so gondola lines were long and slow moving. A helpful employee told me about Moose Access run that takes you to Moose Mountain, which had a return run to Eagle Mountain. Very pretty views (that's what pics are of).
My main complaint is how poorly marked the runs are. I'm used to Vail system and don't get lost on their hills. I'm also used to maps on the lifts, so we can plan out our next run on the ride.

Hands down the best ski resort in the Midwest. The new ultra fast group chairlifts are the best that I have been on. They will get you up the mountain super quick, giving you more time to ski. The runs are always well maintained and quick. The ski up lodges are fantastic, you can literally ski right up to your front door. The views and scenery from a top the mountains is unbeatable in the Midwest.
B A — Google review
Definitely one of the best ski resorts in the Midwest! Tons of natural terrain that is fun to ride. Way more mountain than I could explore in one day. Park is nothing special, but I'm not disappointed because that's not what I went for. Also a few flat areas that I had to walk a bit more than what I'm used to. Trails are also a bit confusing to figure out at first when going between mountains. High speed chairlift and gondola are great! Overall I'd definitely recommend going here if you live in the Midwest.

If you haven't been to Lutsen, it's an amazing experience you won't regret. Our group rented a "ski in" Condo that made the entire trip extra awesome. We never needed to drive anywhere unless we wanted to check out the local live music at the bar nearby. The weather in March was perfect and we enjoyed our long weekend Vacation.

Great place for the whole family anytime during the year. This time some of us did the gondola ride and others in our group the alpine slide. Both things were awesome
Loretta Lundquist — Google review
The Alpine slide was a blast. My family and I really enjoyed it. We originally only wanted 4 rides, but had to do more! Next time, we'll get the all day pass. Great view of the lake! The slide is easily navigated and was great that you can control your own speed. Great time!

Best ski hill within 500 miles or more. Kind of on the expensive side with limited hours, so no night skiing, but nice lifts, gondola to the far hill, lots of runs. The views are exceptional. If it wasn't for the ever increasing price for lodging and lift tickets, I would give 5 stars.
Lee Witte — Google review
This was our 1st time skiing there. Took my son for his 16th birthday. It was amazing skiing for the Midwest. We booked a package stay and ski. We had no issues at all checking in at the hotel and the hill. We were blesses on the first day with 5"-6" of fresh snow. And the second day we had amazing groomers. My ski tracker said that we got 36 runs in one day with 27,000 vertical feet.
The only complaint I have is, the lefties need more training. Most held and pulled the chairs excessively. My son got hit in the back and I almost missed the seat because of the hold and pull. I saw one couple fall off on the bridge chair because of the lefties. Our solution was to stand and grab the chair before they could.
Above issues will not stop us from coming back. 👍👍👍

We drove through the 'ski village' area only to access a nearby waterfall trail, but the previous evening's rain made that trek a bit more treacherous then we had prepared for, so we decided to enjoy a gondola ride instead! Very scenic! Great (approx) 10 minute ride!
One negative: Standing in the ticket line with the alpine slide folks...it seemed like very few of them had managed to fill out their safety waivers beforehand, so it really bogged down the ticket-purchasing process. The ability to purchase 'gondola only' tickets elsewhere would have been nice.
AJ Little — Google review
Just returned from an awesome 2 days of skiing! We had 4 adults and 6 kids ranging from 10-16. The mountains had something for everyone…the lifts were efficient, the gondola was fun, and the runs were beautifully maintained. We run the gamut of skiing ability, and we ALL had a great time. Loved the ski-in/ski-out from Eagle Ridge condos (NEVER had that before…even in Colorado). Loved the pool and hot tub. The drive from Chicagoland was easy and WELL WORTH IT! We all agreed that we would be back next year!

My wife and i had a blast at Lutsen mountains, I will definitely visit again. Plus i will recommend Lutsen mountains to my friends and family

The gondola was cool and the views are epic! My only gripe is that I really wanted to go on the alpine slide and it was closed during the week. I was pretty annoyed at that. My wife and I were on our honeymoon and we were there during the week when it was less busy but disappointed that the slide was closed..

Eat your heart out Tahoe! You can find AMAZING skiing with greater lake views, without the California prices or crowds, up on the North Shore of Minnesota. Even with the abysmal winter of 23/24 we found plenty of open runs to keep us entertained, great grooming conditions, and just a good all around vibe.
Brady Howe — Google review
Good Midwestern ski area. High speed lifts allow good access to most of the terrain. My only annoyance is the very unclear policy on skiing with your backpack. I have a small USWE 1.6 liter ski backpack. One single lift op did not like my pack and wanted me to take it off each ride up. No other lifties had an issue and the patrol all had larger packs. It won't stop me from returning, but I don't ski without a first aid kit. I even rode bar down the entire day because I have my kid with me. So it was an odd experience. Food prices are average for a large ski area. Parking is at a premium if you are not staying in a hotel on site. I recommend that if you want to be there multiple days. It is a bit of a walk from their main lot, but its no worse than any western resort. The best part is the view.
Ben Upah — Google review
The scenery is magical, being on the mountain and seeing a Superior view! All the staff are pleasant, friendly, and helpful. Food is yummy and priced for tourists, of course... Still worth it when hungry. Very pleased with our decision to be HERE for our multi-family Winter Break ❤️❄️🥽🏂

I recommend going in the fall it's beautiful. Go, take the gondola up to the top eat dinner (very expensive it was about $80 for 3 people)look at the views and hire around . Id recommend planning on being up there for about 4 hours if you want to hike around and eat and enjoy the views.

Great way to end the snowboarding season. The snow was perfection & the view of Lake Superior, fantastic. Lutsen did not disappoint– will be back!
Elizabeth — Google review
I have skied a lot of places... Lutsen is one of the worst. Our "ski in/out" lodging only got us to two of the peaks. They closed the bridge between peaks, they closed the gondola for mech reasons... we were stuck skiing same runs over and over. Fryer was out in the chalet so only pizza and burgers, Hand dryer out in men's room. Snow makers blow on you while on lift freezing water on your goggles. TV doesn't work... told it will take days to fix. I understand lack of snow but all of my issues are within their power to fix. Maintenance issues need to be fixed before we spend this much money here again. On the plus side, workers were very friendly and the slopes are better than most Midwest mountains.

We went out on the sea cave tour with Mike and the tour was awesome!!! We wanted to kayak the sea caves but given our laziness and the coldish weather we decided to take a boat instead given the minimal price difference. Mike was great, a local, and knows a lot about the area and the cave formations! Plus you can bring your own food and beverage on the trip which is a huge plus!!!! (No glass, nothing red, and must close.) Thanks so much Mike for running a boat touring business - a true gem of a local experience, a must!
Samantha Teal — Google review
This was an excellent experience. The reservation process was so easy. There is a cute gift shop to shop while waiting for our boat tour. They had great jewelry options at really good prices; there were T-shirts, candles and all kinds of variety. I would make a trip to this little store even if I weren't going on a boat ride. I plan to do a little gift shopping before leaving the area. I was a little nervous about being on a boat, Captain Mike made us feel totally safe. He shared all kinds of history about the area. He was able to give us a ton of information about rock formations, plants and Lake Superior. It is obvious that he loves his job and loves the area. He was able to get the boat right into the caves. Mike even pointed out some of the best photo opportunities. I am so glad we didn't choose one of the big companies and big tour options. I would recommend this tour and this tour company, specifically, to anyone.
Don't miss this one!

We took the mainland sea cave tour with Captain Mike, and are very glad we did. He exceeded our expectations with his friendly, knowledgeable, and thoughtful guidance. This is definitely the way to see sea caves in the Apostle Islands, especially if you aren't inclined to paddle a sea kayak a few miles. Book online in advance so you won't be disappointed.
Ron Thielen — Google review
Mike was a phenomenal "Captain" of our sea caves tour. He was professional, courteous , knowledgeable and a true local. What we admired about Mike was that he took the time to really show us the sea caves even when it required waiting for 15 minutes for the kayakers to pass by. This was almost like a private tour. Mike was a great company to have.
This tour really made our apostle islands tour a trip to remember.
I would be coming back for another island tour.
I am so glad we did not take the tour with the "big" guys

Excellent tour of the vast amount of sea caves also known as the ice caves in winter. Captain Mike (who grew up in the area)
had a great amount of knowledge of the caves, apostle Islands and Lake Superior.
Highly recommend. Nice 1.5 hour trip.

This was a GREAT tour! Amazing views of the lake, the caves and islands, and even some wildlife. Mike and Lorraine were so wonderful, and helped us find a hotel and a great local restaurant after the tour! These are wonderful folks- come see them for an awesome Apostle Island coastal cave tour and some great gift items!

Super friendly, very caring, awesome group of people. Highly recommended Good Earth!!
Our story....
My boyfriend and myself went to Bayfield to pay for a water taxi from the cruise service there to take us to Devil's Island and they had no captains available to take us to Devil's where we had a booked campsite for that night. One lady for the cruise service didn't even try to find us a captain. One girl finally gave us a list of local places that might work and she said Good Earth might be our best bet.
My boyfriend called them and Mike answered. He was able to take us out to Devil's no problem. He was even nice enough to give us a history lesson of the islands on our way out. And quiz me on which island was which so we wouldn't get lost. Although I memorized the islands we were going to it still helped us a lot.
They are also very caring, he was very concerned with our trip. We were going from Devil's Island to Oak Island to Sand Island then back to the mainland (over 30miles of kayaking total) in a course of three days. He asked us to write down our itinerary and when we were planning on being back and also to call him once our journey was over. If not, he was going to send the coast guard out for us. Which is a very comforting feeling.
I highly recommend Good Earth. They're very concerned about the people they help.
Thank you Mike for taking us out to Devil's islands as quickly as you could. We had a great journey because of you.

An AWESOME experience! Our guide Molly was fantastic. We all felt safe and taken care of under her leadership. We did the 3 day trip, and now that I know what to expect I would do a longer trip next time because it was over before we knew it. The food was great and there was always more than enough to eat. We lucked out with great weather. And the landscapes were absolutely beautiful! I will be back for a longer trip next time!

Just Wow!!! We took a kayaking tour yesterday kit of Washburn with a different outfitter that took us to Red Cliff and Purple cave. We were so disappointed that we decided that we'd try again today with an outfitter that took off out of Meyers beach. Lost Creek was top notch from the start! They made sure we were outfitted correctly, provided a wet suit and a dry bag, and safe keeping for your keys. Mathias and Danny were our guides and they were friendly and knowledgeable - not just about kayaking but about the geological formations as well! We had a great group kayaking with us and water conditions cooperated letting us get in and out of all the cool spots. HIGHLY RECOMMEND. THIS WAS SUPERB!!

I was a solo traveler and they paired me up with another solo adventurer; so we were both able to sign up for the tandem kayak sea caves tour that day. We did the 11am sea caves tour - which went until mid afternoon. Ben was our guide. Wet suits were included with the kayak rental. Good safety protocols were reviewed, along with paddling instruction, prior to even getting in the water. This was the best day trip and highly worth it - the scenery was breathtaking and the experience was amazing. My only suggestion is that it would have been nice if our guide had a camera and took pictures of us in our kayaks on the water. That would have been a nice service to provide/include. I have pics of the scenery, but none of me in my kayak.
Highly recommend this day trip if you are vacationing in the area.

Our original tour to the sea caves had to be changed due to the bad weather and rough waves out on Lake Superior that had passed through the day before. They offered an alternate trip to guests that was through a slough leading up to Lake Superior. Everyone else on the original trip rescheduled to another day, our trip plans didn't allow for this so we went on the alternate trip and my friend and I ended up being the only two choosing this route, so we got a private tour with our guide, Ben. This was awesome being the only two and still a fun trip on peaceful, calm waters and we got to see a lot of ecology and learn more about the area and environment. Ben was a great guide and it was fun getting to know him as well! Would recommend this outfitter to anyone. We will be back some day again soon to experience the caves!

Toured with Megan and Mathias and they were great. Aside from having to pump the water out of the kayak 8 times during our half day trip, it was a great time! Not sure where the water kept entering from but I hope the company can locate the issue. Thank goodness Megan had a pump or it would’ve taken forever with my water bottle. Thankfully the water only hit me and not my other two paddlers. While I typically stay dry when paddling it was an interesting experience and makes for a great story. Beautiful sights and a beautiful day. The leaky kayak didn’t deter me and would go again in the future should I find myself in the area. Definitely recommend!

Mike was an awesome guide. He took care of us by carrying our kayaks and pushing us off the beach. He was knowledgeable and funny. He took our photo for our 30 year anniversary photo. He ordered perfect weather and a calm lake so we could explore mouse hole cave. The caves were beautiful and just the right distance on the 3 1/2 hour tour.

This has been on my bucket list for awhile. Ben and Cali were amazing guides! Went over guidelines and rules efficiently to get us out on the water but also so first timers knew what they were doing and how to paddle correctly. They pointed out the names of structures and were fun people to talk to. This company had everything and was very organized. The wet suits, life vests, and kayak skirts were all in great condition. The kayaks and paddles were comfortable to use. Was an amazing day. Will definitely come again!

My wife and I had a wonderful time with Danny! It was a small group - us and one other person. They provided wet suits, dry bags, and lunch for Sand Island. We hiked on a boardwalk to the lighthouse and decided to do the quick tour. The winds were fairly consistent, which made paddling back a little easier. The other person on our tour did the Sea Caves the day before with perfect weather and planned to do one more tour tomorrow. We would highly recommend the Sand Island tour, Danny, and Lost Creek. It was a great day of kayaking!

Awesome experience from before we even arrived to the time we got back! We emailed them a few days before with some questions and they answered right away. Arrival and check in were quick and easy. Very professional, you can tell they put a lot of time and attention into what they do and have clearly thought of everything, including a safe spot on land for everyone's car keys!
The actual kayaking trip was incredibly beautiful and a lot of fun! The weather was gorgeous. We had never paddled in a sea kayak before, but learned the basics pretty quickly from our guides, Talia and Haydn who were the BEST! They were friendly, informative, helpful, and genuinely great people to get to spend a few hours on the water with and learn from.
The half day trip felt like it was the perfect amount of time for us and our daughter, we got to see quite a bit without it tiring us out too much. We highly recommend Lost Creek Adventures! We would love to come back someday in the future and do an overnight trip when our daughter is a little older.
Thanks so much to your wonderful team! :) Hope everyone has a safe and fun summer!

Absolutely amazing kayaking day-trip. Our guides were River and Hunter. They were so knowledgeable, kind, and fun! Our group varied in skills but they made sure no one was left behind or excluded. My arms are killing me but I'd go again in a second. I absolutely reccomend.
And if River suggests you stop at a random well for water? Do it! She was right, randomly delicious water.

Had a great family time (w/adult children) kayaking. Ajay and Mark were great tour guides and very friendly. They also had some corny jokes which made it fun when we were about ready to give up! 🤪 They took good care of us and genuinely seemed to care about our comfort and safety! Highly recommend. You also get some good practice and tips before actually getting in the water. Very helpful on the water if you have a moment of struggle. Beautiful scenery and facts/history about the area to learn about on the tour.

Highly recommend! Staff are very friendly. Our initial booking had to be canceled due to wind, but they were able to book us for the next day. Otis was our travel guide, and he was amazing! Super funny and down to earth. He definitely made everyone that was in our group feel safe. The cliffs were an awesome sight and Otis knew many details and the history surrounding them! Another bucket list item check off!

This is definitely some thing you have to do if you’re driving by.
What are you listening to You can park on the freeway and it looks like there’s nothing there but you hike down and there’s like six amazing waterfalls in this really gorgeous deep red river.
I’ve never seen water that color before it was so gorgeous! Also the ferns and everything around the foliage was so green and lush. It’s places like this that makes me think northern Minnesota is the prettiest place in America.

Favorite north shore river. Quick and easy hike to the most gorgeous spots but you can also get down along the river and scramble a little bit if that’s your thing. Other than right along the river, the paths here are easy hiking. Also a great place to take the doggo.

The waterfall/hiking club trail is awesome. The river above the waterfall is full of boulders and looks very cool around dusk. We also as a black bear on the back side of the hiking club trail climbing and tree for food.

This is one of my favorite Minnesota state parks. Especially after a good rain the waterfalls are amazing! I highly recommend hiking to the top. The river is equally beautiful.
Everything in the trail is clean and neat and well marked.
If your going along the Northshore this is definitely worth your time to stop and check it out.

First time in this park. Have done Gooseberry and Tettegouche many times - love them. But this might be my new favorite. Definitely did not feel like I was in MN anymore. Colorado anyone? California? Go farther North than the other two and do this one - it is worth it. The rock gorges, the waterfalls, the rapids, the beach. They have it all.

Look…this place has a 4.9 rating. Who gave it a 4? Come on, man? This place rocks…literally. Beautiful rock outcroppings and rocky trails to scuffle over and across to get a glimpse of yet another waterfall or cascade. There are about 6 in a half mile hike. And yes, the gorge is gorgeous. So many vista points. It’s not a long or overly difficult hike but don’t plan to whip through it. Take your time. Enjoy what is now my favorite North Shore park.

This is such a nice park. There are plenty of hiking trails and a couple of waterfalls. We camped in the upper campground so we could walk to most trails and waterfalls. We want to come back here and explore some more.

Temperance River State Park is one of the most underrated and a hidden gem in the North shore. One. Would never get enough of the lake Superiors view from this park. I have camped here twice and the experience was amazing. I recommend camping at the lower campground and sports particularly 42-44 for the best experience. I am glad that I chose this park for my vacation. The amenities are good overall. They have an onsite shower and toilet facilities which are well maintained. Bug spray is a must because the park can get damp .

Beautiful park! Great nature trails for hiking, beautiful views of the river as it flows rapidly toward Lake Superior. During spring/summer definitely need some mosquito and black fly repellent due to the moisture and dense foliage.

I have visited many of the state parks and falls along the Lake Superior Lakeshore during my recent vacation. For some reason, my daughter and I liked this park and the falls most. Maybe it's because we took some extra unnecessary steps to raise our adrenaline level🤭. When you drive to south on Route 61. Right after you pass the Temperance Park enterence, you will see the parking lot on both sides of the road. Take the parking lot on the left side. You will only be a city block away from an amazing scenery. It only takes less than a minute walk! If you follow up the trails, you will get to experience better views. But I must say that the path involves uneven steps of rock as you go higher. I hiked in the evening time, so I was attacked by insects even tho I used %100 deet insect repellent. But mine may have been worn off since I applied it around noon and hiked all day.
I captured one of the best photos at this park . As a photographer, I am very happy with all the breathtaking views and the pictures I took.

This is a really fun state park with a lot to do in it. The hiking trails are very well maintained, and there are also informational signs around.
There are also spots further down some trails to jump off rocks into the river.

Well worth a visit. You can tell a lot of time and effort has been and is being put into this place. Learn a lot about the history of the area. See a resort type cabin and a trapper type cabin. Also see lots of historical canoes and other small boats.

There is a gold mine of historical information about the area. Everything is very well done and the staff are very friendly. Lots to see and many trails to hike.

Very knowledgeable and friendly staff. There's a funny little scavenger hunt in the museum. There's a nice little gift shop. The education center was very cool and the kids liked that the best. A nice scenic drive all the way up the Gun Flint trail.

This wonderful campus is full of delights. The museum is a treasure that sensitively portrays the lives of all people of the Trail. The exhibit on cultural use of fire by Native American inhabitants was particularly interesting given the fire scares of 2021. The Nature Center helps you to understand what you might see on the hiking trails and paths that guide you through wetlands, woodland, and rocky outlooks. The Watercraft Exhibit building highlights the regions "water highways" and the vessels that moved among them. I loved the story of Benny Ambrose hauling black dirt across the lake to his home for a garden. Observing the loons on the nesting platform in the bay is magical. And the blueberries ....

Such a great informative little museum, so beautiful inside. Definitely need another trip up there.
Volcanic formed cliffs & birds of prey nesting site overlooking the lake in state park.
Breathtaking view of lake superior. A lot of climbers like this place. Use caution. If you fall you die. Worth seeing.

Such great views up here. We went late to see the stars and it was well worth it. Wish my phone took better pictures, they do this place no justice. If you are up this way you have to stop and check it out for yourself.

A gorgeous place just north of the town of Silver Bay! DO NOT MISS IT! The parking lot is small but this place is beautiful to look out into lake superior! You can hike on the cliffs but be careful! If you would like to see more, I invite you to check out my Minnesota playlist on Youtube: Lukegee Travels

Beautiful overlook. A lot of cliffs and rock climbing is allowed. When its foggy, you can hear ships sounding their horns. Free to visit, also note, the drive up is a steep winding road.

So beautiful! Rocky coast lines are gorgeous. I recommend parking at the bottom and walking. It guarantees you’ll get to see and spend time. And there’s trails off the road.
Arielle Avant — Google review
Do not pass this spot up! It’s a quick drive up off the highway to a parking lot and from there you are surrounded by amazing views of the rock cliffs. The pictures just don’t do it justice. It was a little crowded when we went so I recommend going early to possibly get a little more solitude.
Jess B — Google review
Absolutely blown away by the stunning views. The short hike up to the peak was well worth it, and I couldn't believe how incredible the scenery was. I highly recommend Palisade Head to anyone looking for a great hiking spot in the area. The landscape will take your breath away. It's definitely worth the trip!

This is arguably the best view of Lake Superior in Minnesota.
To get to the parking lot, there is a very narrow and winding road. I would parking in the lot off the highway if you are towing anything.
The cliff is right next to the parking lot, and you can get all of the good views in under a minute walk. It is incredibly dangerous here as there are no guardrails, and falling off means certain death.

We put on our yak tracks and hiked up in the snow(30 mins round trip -slow pace). We had the entire place to ourselves minus the deer we saw at the top. Beautiful view.
Dyani Heinz — Google review
Nice area to hike. We didn't explore the entire area, just a short way from the parking lot. It is a little narrow road going up to the top, be considerate when you meet another vehicle.
The parking lot is pretty small, but cleared out while we were there. No defined trails off the lot, so don't bring granny in her wheelchair and expect to wheel her from the parking area.
We got to witness a pair of rock climbers scaling the cliff.
Bri g good walking shoes here.
Andy Weinkauf — Google review
Very cool and well worth the stop along the north shore. You can drive right up to a small parking lot and walk right to the viewpoint with ease. When we went it was packed and a lot of people parked in places that weren't parking spots making it very nerve-racking driving on a cliff. Just some very inconsiderate people. If you just wait at the entrance to the parking lot, people rotate in and out pretty easily to snag an actual parking spot. Apparently it's a common spot for people to rock climb and repel down the cliffs as well. There many here when we stopped.
Samantha Cummings — Google review
Really narrow road leading to parking area. There isn’t like a main trail, you just traverse the rocks. Lots to explore and the views are obviously amazing. Come at the right time and there’s wild blueberries all over the place!

Very short ride up the hill.for the amazing views. Best way to get an overlook view on the north shore imho. Can often see rock climbers. No guardrails so keep children in hand!
Guides dressed in period clothing offer tours of the Split Rock Lighthouse and keeper's home, showcasing aspects of 1920s life. The lighthouse was constructed after a devastating gale in 1905 caused numerous shipwrecks, and it has become one of Minnesota's most iconic landmarks since its opening in 1910. Today, the lighthouse has been restored to reflect its original appearance from the 1920s and features a historical museum.
8 dollars per person when I came in 2nd of April. I love this place, it's fascinating how the people lived and built at time. There is a little museum explain the story, a theatre with a movie explaining the origins, trails to walk around and the light house which you can enter but then you need to book in advance and it's a guided tour (cost extra too).
There is also a little shop to buy souvenir which is cute.
I love this place, but one tip, it's super windy up there in the lighthouse so be aware.

Probably one of my new favorite places we’ve been! Admissions were very reasonable. Tour guides were well informed and had so many interesting things to talk about. Loved going to the house and touring there. The lighthouse was very neat as well. The whole history around this place was very interesting. Go here if you’re in the area and take the walk down to Pebble Beach to see the lighthouse from below. Definitely worth the view!

Beautiful park, well worth the visit. You can walk up inside the lighthouse, see other historic buildings and exhibits as well as enjoying a spectacular view of Lake Superior. While there, enjoy the museum, nature walks and learn a lot of the history of the area.

Amazing drive on the way to split Rock, so beautiful. The museum part was very cool and informative. The staff was super knowledgeable, helpful and friendly. The real magic happens when you walk out by the lighthouse! I can't even describe in words how beautiful the view is! Definitely going back. A must stop on the way is Betty's pies and of course Gooseberry falls. Have an amazing time 😁❤️

We went in January right when Duluth put a mandatory mask mandate in place. The lighthouse was closed but the views were amazing which is why we are giving it four stars. The learning center was informational.

Beautiful lighthouse to see, the lighthouse and state park (surrounding property) are two separate admissions. It cost $12 for adults to see and go inside the lighthouse and then the state park has a $7 day pass if you want to go to Pebble Beach or enjoy the lighthouse viewpoint from down the trail. It is cool to climb to the top of the lighthouse and to go through the lighthouse keepers home.

If you are a lighthouse fan, a beach fan, a Lake Superior fan, enjoy a nice hike, you must visit Split Rock Lighthouse. We learned about the history of the lighthouse and it's keepers through the short video before our exploration of the property, and while in the keepers' home, the fog horn house, and around the property. There was a decent line to go up into the lighthouse itself, but we passed that up due to time constraints and instead took the leisurely hike down to Lake Superior to get some stunning photos of the light from that vantage point. Well worth a visit.

What a fun little stop along the pretty Minnesota coast!! Seeing the light house was pretty fun, but more so from a distance. The inside is very cool but it’s very cramped (understandably) so when there’s a lot of people it’s kind of hard to enjoy the inside, but there’s a walkway down to the water that has such a nice and fun view of the lighthouse, as well as a little porch with another great view! Me and my girlfriend are both very happy we made this stop and can’t wait to visit other historic lighthouses like this one.

Split Rock Lighthouse is such a fun and beautiful day adventure to take part in when you are up on the north shore of Lake Superior. It is not only beautiful, but it is a historic and educational sight seeing attraction. Taking the tour up into the Lighthouse is a great adventure. The views of the lake shore line from here are amazingly beautiful as well.

An early sunrise on the lighthouse edge.
I hope you enjoy my photo.
I wanted to capture the sun as it was level with the lighthouse top, and I had to be up in early in the darkest of morning to snap this photo.
This place has spectacular 360 degree views, and there is a nice beach spot below it.
Makes a great destination spot for photography and to enjoy oneself.

This place is very well maintained! Employees are super nice. It has an interesting story and it is well documented. They CHARGE for parking ($7) and to enter the lighthouse ($12) separately! View is pretty from up there. Overall it’s worth it.
They also let you in one of the families’ homes who use to take care of the lighthouse and they still have their old appliances!

This is such a beautiful lighthouse. You can see it off the highway as you approach from the south. There is so much history here. They have a theater area where you can learn even more. There is a small museum area. The gift shop is nice. The staff is amazing. Bathrooms were very clean. We walked the grounds and went into the lighthouse. You can also go into the light keeper's house. There was a wonderful lady who could give you a lot of history about the house. You need to be able to climb stairs to get up to the lighthouse. We did not see any ramps. If you can't climb stairs, you can go to the inside museum and around the grounds below the lighthouse. It is definitely worth the stop. The cost was reasonable.

First time touring the Lighthouse and we are really glad we did. As a family of 5 it was affordable and an experience our kids enjoyed as well. If we did it again we would watch the video before going up to the lighthouse. Not as much walking or steps as we expected there to be. The tour guides were very helpful in answering any questions we had. We enjoyed it and would definitely recommend it to everyone thinking of checking it out.

Split Rock Lighthouse is a must-visit for nature lovers and history enthusiasts alike. There is $12 entrance fee to offer self guided tours of the grounds and lighthouse, but don't let that turn you away. Prior to seeing the lighthouse, they offer a short video explaining the history. There are well-informed staff at each part of the attraction to answer questions and offer information about the lighthouse as well. The lighthouse itself is a short walk from the main building, and they allow visitors to walk up to the top and tour the original lighthouse Keeper's home with the pass. The views of Lake Superior are incredible!

What an experience!!! Park is beautifully maintained. There was an entrance fee, but we'll worth it. Park is relatively large. You'll walk through the main building which has a gift shop right behind. There are restrooms inside. Once you pay you can check out the little museum or go straight to the lighthouse. There's a older house beforehand worth a walk through. Climb a few stairs and you'll be inside the lighthouse which requires another 33 flight of stairs to the top. Wonderful experience, if you love lighthouses, make sure you stop

Beautifully kept light house with amazing history and very talented guides to help you to understand the facilities. The story about the light house is very well preserved with great photos and pieces. The views are amazing and the so well kept that you get a great feel for what it might of been like to stay there. This is a definite must see on the North Shore!

This place is great, especially if you love learning about history. There is an entry fee, but it is affordable and absolutely worth it in my opinion. I also appreciated that they were open until 6PM on a weekday! I would say you can cover everything in about 1 hour, maybe a little longer if you want to spend more time or if you have kids.
The lighthouse and the keeper's house are beautifully restored with lots of informative and interesting reads. Also plenty of staff around that are very nice, helpful and well-informed.
The interior museum was great as well. There's a short movie that runs every 10-20 minutes. The gift shop is about what you'd expect, but I also appreciated they had a collection of artwork from local artists available for purchase.
And I almost forgot to mention the stunning views of Lake Superior!
I'd definitely recommend making a stop here if you're nearby and have an hour to kill. It's right off the highway and very convenient.

Lots of history about the property, original lighthouse keeper, and the lighthouse itself. There are several trails you can hike and get some great distant views of the lighthouse. Walk a little further (.3 miles) and the trails takes you to a beach where you can also view the lighthouse.
Dan Bell — Google review
A worthwhile trip up the North Shore, the site not only has really well maintained grounds but also the actual historic structure itself is really well cared for. They have done a really good job in not only the historic preservation front but also in interpretation of the site itself, moreso the lives of the people that worked there. An extremely professional and relatively "modern" museum in how it presents itself.
A $12 admission price is a steal to go see a place like this.
Vito S. Bortolotti — Google review
A staple of the North Shore, Split Rock is a must see for all those who have never experienced it. The history of the site coupled with the spectacular views and well maintained trails (paved and non-paved) allow for all ages and physical capabilities to experience the park.
Carissa Baumeister — Google review
Really great views and great history throughout. There's a lot of information and visuals to make it fun for all ages. There are guided tours that go on as well if you want a more in depth style of visit, but there's a theater that shows a good overview if that's more your speed.
Jordan A — Google review
100% worth the stop. Small fee to gain access to all the historical grounds. Take the time to watch the short 13 minute video before heading outside. Super informative! You're able to climb the stairs to the top of the lighthouse to see the light. The views are astounding everywhere you turn. Definitely take advantage and walk down every path you can. I also recommend the hilly walk down to the shore for amazing pictures. Be adventurous and take the tram stairs back up, it's a work out but there are several resting platforms on the way up!

Known for its historic lighthouse, this park boasts trails, lakefront campsites & a rocky beach.
8$ per person. Got to see the lighthouse up close, and the did the trail down to the beach and took some photos. The views were beautiful. The snow did make the walk up and down a bit hard. The wooden staircase to the historic site was closed for winter. Did not go all the way to Pebble beach, so cant comment on it.

Spent the weekend at shipwreck campground at split rock lighthouse. The campground is excellent. We appreciate the sites being spaced apart giving people some space to stretch out. Sites were more than big enough for our small camper and 2 cars. Shower house had plenty of hot water. Vault toilets were well kept and clean.

Absolutely gorgeous site. This is both a State Park and Historical site. You can gain entrance to them both at one location. The lighthouse site has a minimal entrance fee and worth it. The views are spectacular from up top and also from below. You can access shoreline from “old tram” trail which are stairs or walk a gentle slope trail down, which is the part of the State Park. You can access additional trails along the shore from there as well. This is a gorgeous site in any season, but obviously Fall is one of its more colorful times.

We only got the introductory tour but my sister and I loved it. There was a lot to learn about how the lighthouse was built, when it was built, and who maintained it. There was a movie as well and it was a gem. Overal, the view from the frozen lake was gorgeous and I memorialized every minute of it. I highly recommend a visit to this tourist destination, whenever time allows it.

Officially known as the new Shipwreck Creek Campground at Split Rock State Park. , this Campground is about 5 minutes from the lighthouse and is seamlessly integrated into nature. This is one of the first campgrounds I've been to that didn't feel like the land was manipulated and overly stripped in some way, and a campground was set up. Here, it feels like they worked with the land to leave nature intact and it shows with ample green space and forest between each campsite. Shower facility and restrooms at the entrance are some of the nicest I've ever been to. Super clean but careful, no adjustable temperature, it's one button operation and the water was almost a little too hot for me but that's a nice problem to have. Even the many single door outhouses sporadically placed throughout the park are about as clean as can be and well maintained. Newly paved roads throughout the park with an abundance of paved bike trails from the campground leading to 15 additional miles of paved trails along the North Shore. If there is one negative it would be the lack of cell service or the ability to pick up any local TV stations on the antenna. That's not such a bad thing, though, if you really want to get away. I have Verizon and was able to use my phone a little bit but not for streaming too well. My wife has AT&T, and there was no signal. That's about the only negative we can think of. I would definitely go back.

This was a beautiful state park to visit. Even though we visited too late in the season to go to see the inside of the lighthouse, we were able to still hike down a little to see the view of the state park that is often in photographs or paintings. Quite stunning a vantage point! I think it is definitely worth visiting this state park in order to see Split Rock Lighthouse. Worth the drive from the cities! We went on a very windy day which resulted in huge waves.

Love this State Park. The light house is awesome and the history and upkeep of the place is great.
Personally I think that it is the most picturesque lighthouse out there.
Visitor center staff are friendly and helpful.
There is much more I could say about it but just know it’s worth your time to visit!

The historical part of the park, the lighthouse & grounds, has always been a favorite. The tours are wonderful & very educational. There's also a new exhibit that wonderfully put together. I only wish we had spent more time there.
There are also hiking trails for everyone. We were able to take our kids on a few & there were no issues.
The new campground is amazing. There's plenty of space at each site. While they're all set up for electric, some are set up to also accommodate tent camping. Water & vault toilets are easily accessible. There's even an ADA site so everyone can enjoy what the area has to offer. Definitely going to be planning a trip back.

This place has always ignited my imagination. When we are in the area, we always stop. There are upcharge tours of the Keeper's Quarters, and even inside the tower tours. Many steps up to the light house.
Large grassy area at the bottom of the steps where those who want to rest a bit can also sit.
Easy parking, but then one walks a bit to the Visitors Center, which is where the restrooms are located.
The National Parks Pass works for the basic entrance to the park.

Gooseberry Falls State Park is a vast 1,682-acre park boasting stunning waterfalls and various wildlife. Visitors can explore campgrounds, trails, and picnic areas while learning about the area's history at the interpretive center/museum/gift shop. The paved walkway provides an excellent view of the magnificent waterfalls. Nearby restaurants with unique names like Crooked Spoon and Devil Track Resort cater to group dining needs.
Stunning! I’ve been to Gooseberry Falls many times and every time I am just blown away at how beautiful it is. I’ve seen the falls at different times of the year and keep in mind that sometimes there is much more water then other times. But even when the water is low, it’s still pretty. There’s other areas you can walk to and another waterfall too nearby. The best part? It’s just a short walk from the parking lot! This is nice when you’re traveling with someone who can’t walk too much. You do have to walk more to get to other areas but to see the main waterfall is not far. There are stairs as well so keep that in mind. There’s also nice restrooms and a very sweet gift shop inside with a mini museum which is fun for kids and adults. The worst part? I hope you have a lot of phone storage because you won’t be able to stop taking pictures! Now, a side note, the falls when it’s at its max is very loud. This isn’t a problem for me but can be for others who are sensitive to noise. We also try to find times to go when it’s not super busy and full of people.

We had great weather to enjoy the scenery. There are quite a few steps, but the trail around the falls levels out the ascent along the way so it is very hikeable.

This place is so freaking beautiful. So many waterfalls to enjoy. We only had a couple of hours to spend - So we did the trail that takes you to the Upper and Lower falls. It is very close to the visitor center, so you can actually go back if you don’t want to do the loop. We did the loop and it was fun to see the falls from all sides. Breathtaking views.

Such a beautiful place. This was my first time here even though I have always lived in Minnesota there is so much to see. This is a state park to spend a lot of time exploring and hiking. And I would highly recommend finding a place to camp to get the full enjoyment of the park and wild life.

This is such a great park! The falls are beautiful any time of year. It's a really quick walk to the waterfalls from the parking lot, and most of the main walkways are paved. This was the best state park I visited in Minnesota. We spent the whole week touring state parks along highway 61 from Duluth to Thunderbay and this was by far the best.
The falls were gushing which made for a Kodak moment after every turn. Make sure you have proper footwear because the trail can get steep and muddy at some places.
The whole falls loop was around a mile and pretty easy.

Wow! I love this place so much. The walk is short and they've got a great shop with really some of the nicest shirts and sweatshirts and t-shirts and trinkets I have ever seen. It was my birthday so my husband bought me a beautiful rust color North shore sweatshirt and a burgundy gooseberry Falls sweater that was stunning and I've gotten compliments on it since. We walked all around the falls got in 17,000 steps It is beautiful. You can walk as hard and long as you want but plan on taking a lot of pictures. There was a lot of people there so you have to take your time and be patient to get pictures without a lot of other people in the background. I highly recommend it I would love to come back here once every few years as it is beautiful and different in each time of the year. The last time we were here my son was in UMD and it was winter. Totally different experience this time. I will say the waterfalls are much more beautiful this time of year They get rusty color from the leaves in early winter.

I've been going to Gooseberry for decade's. And I really did love it before all the parking and designed paths. There were way less people. However, I appreciate what has been done to make it more family friendly. And more accessible. It is very clean and very well manicured. And a must visit for first timers. The path up and down to the lake is about 3.5 miles. Easy hiking.

Goosebury falls is worth the stop if you want to easily see some falls that are very easy to access. There's only a short walk on a paved path to be able to reach views of the upper and middle falls. We saw people of all ages throughout the park. There is a trail that goes all around the falls to have some views from above, but requires a bit of a hike.

We were there on a Saturday afternoon and it was beautiful. The parking lot was fairly full but despite the number of people it was still a great experience. Everyone was getting a chance to get their pictures and play and climb on what they wanted. The trails were great. We started at the upper falls and them worked our way back down. It was extremely enjoyable for the whole family and we can even bring Grandpa and his cane back with us.

Fantastic State Park! So much to do here, for all levels of ability. The falls are in easy walking distance on east paved paths near visitor center. But their are other falls deeper in the park for those that have more time and want to explore further. Beautiful trails follow the water, fairly easy to navigate. But further in you want good hiking shoes and note it is uneven ground with lots of tree roots and stones. But still easy and worth it. This park also links up to the Superior Trail as well. Dogs are welcomed and there were a decent amount when we were there, all leashed of course. Visitor center with bathrooms and plenty of parking. It can get a little crowded by the falls, but becomes nice and quiet as you venture out on trail.

First time visiting in winter. The paths and especially the stairs are tricky to navigate with snow on them. Highly recommend wearing traction-increasing footwear
The self guided tour is well worth the $5 admission. We have been to the North Shore numerous times and this was our first visit to the Two Harbors Lighthouse. We loved walking up the steps to the top of the lighthouse and reading this historic boards on the way up. The lighthouse overlooks the open water and the docks for loading the iron ore. The bonus is the pilot house from a wreaked iron cargo ship.

This is a beautiful property to visit to enjoy the lake, step inside an old pilot house, and climb an active lighthouse.
The Two Harbors Keepers Quarters is also available to stay in as a B&B and we had a wonderful time. We enjoyed time away from technology (by our own choosing) playing games while cargo ships sailed by outside our windows. The rooms have beautiful views and the experience feels like a step back in time - while still enjoying the comforts of local dining and the cozy robes and slippers the B&B provides.
We stayed in winter for Christmas and will definitely be coming back to stay longer when it's warmer outside.

Really beautiful and worth the cost to visit inside! You rarely ever see any lighthouses mentioned besides split rock, and this one is just as beautiful! There is a walkway out to a newer smaller lighthouse which allows you to see agate harbor. Very pretty!

I wasn't there for the museum I was staying there for the air bnb but this place is pretty cool and so nice!
Castle Danger Brewery is a popular spot in downtown Two Harbors, offering a wide range of legendary beers known for their balanced and approachable flavors. The brewery features a 30 barrel brewing system, canning line, and a contemporary yet rustic taproom with an outdoor patio overlooking Lake Superior. Visitors can enjoy tasting the delectable brews while taking in the fresh breeze from the lake.
Out of all the breweries on the North Shore, Castle Danger is my favourite. The beers are always incredible, and they have the best outdoor seating. It's a worthwhile stop each and every time. The seasonal beers never disappoint!

We've been meaning to come here for years and finally made it! Of course, it is all we expected it to be & more! Amazing service, exceptional brews, views of the lake! We enjoyed our drinks out on the patio - 100% recommend!

Large brewery, with a huge selection of high quality beers (I like the cream ale), lots of space inside and out for large groups, and some nooks where your family can play board games. I was here in the off season, but you can tell they are set up to service lots of tourists in the summer. There are also some interesting other cool establishments within walking distance. Check this place out if you’re touring the north shore!

Amazing place to visit while in Two Harbors, MN. Very clean, comfortable and outstanding staff. Great place to hang out with friends and play games on a dreary Minnesota Spring Day. Cannot wait to enjoy sitting on the patio this summer.

What’s not to love? Castle Danger is a great brewery in the heart of Two Harbors. We stopped in after a long trip in the BWCA. It was a beautiful day and there is no better spot to spend it. They brewery has all their current beers on tap and also has games to spend the day playing. Really fun and worth a stop!

Good beers. Nice spacious tasting room and outdoor area (weather permitting). Will sometimes have food trucks 🚚 .

After drinking the beer for years it was nice to finally come up to the brewery. The patio has lots of seating options and allows dogs. There was a food truck the day we visited as well. The rewards program is really easy to join too. Your card links you to a toast rewards program, the app makes it easy to manage your rewards.

HUGE patio and picnic seating. Love that they have chips and salsa for sale, as well as food trucks stopping by.
We enjoyed getting the flights and trying all kinds of their beers.
Their patio became the perfect end to each of our days in Two Harbor after we hiked and before we went to dinner.

Having grown up in MInnesota and explored many breweries across the state, Castle Danger sits atop my list as number 1.
With the great selection of beers and a little north shore magic added in, there’s no better place to enjoy craft beer. Staff is super friendly and the location provides plenty of space during any season.

I've had this beer so many times in Minneapolis and I'm so pumped to actually be here. It's a great vibe with tons of puppers! The best little surprise was finding vegan ice cream options! Such a great place to hang out. Beer is reasonably priced and there is a mountain of outdoor seating. Love this place.

Absolutely love this place and we'll go back again and again and again and again. Every time I come to Duluth I will come here They had excellent beers and beautiful ambiance lots of outdoor patio seating indoor seating and a great store with great prices. Support them by buying a t-shirt, a sweatshirt and two of their custom printed beer glasses. Love this place!!!!!

Best Brewery on the North Shore , Best beers and some neat snacks and some of the best decks to enjoy the Lake and Trains going by. Definitely do not miss it if you're in Two Harbors or heading up the shore .... don't forget to walk around the breakwater and the lighthouse afterward .. and if there's snow on the ground .. even better !!! .. 😉
Nature park featuring waterfalls & rapids on the Amnicon River, trails & camping.
Definitely a different vibe during the winter but it’s a really quick beautiful hike! Small loop near falls couldn’t have taken more than 20 minutes. Many smaller falls within the area near Aminicon falls. With big rock walls carved on by rapids and rushing waters. A few walking bridges and an iconic covered bridge! Gorge like a multiple areas, it’s great place to explore, right off the highway!

Very scenic park. The small rapids along the park road when we first drove in really caught our eyes. I was excited to see the covered bridge in person. The multiple waterfalls and the rocky stream are very picturesque. The park is smaller but a lot of fun to spend time at. I want to go back and eat lunch in one of the many picnic tables. The restrooms were pit type but they were clean. We spent 45 minutes here and wish we had more time.

Amnicon Falls State Park has such a beautiful set of waterfalls that are a must see for any nature lover. This is definitely one of the best state parks in Wisconsin, and one of the most scenic and wonderful places around to make a visit to. The river running through the park makes for an awesome and unique hike. They have some great and unique campground sites. The covered bridge between the two waterfalls is an amazing site to see. I highly recommend making a visit here.

This is one of my favorite state parks to camp at! The waterfalls are stunning. There is a covered bridge, campsites, picnic areas, and awesome hiking trails. The forest is full of cool plants and mushrooms, and so much more! Highly recommend this for camping with family, the kiddo loved it!
Gretchen Gosnell — Google review
Went to hike the waterfalls. Very nice trails to walk and explore the falls. Walked down to the river and enjoyed some beautiful pictures.
Some people were swimming under the big falls, which was fun. Covered bridge was beautiful too and very unique! Loved the fairly easy hike. Ground is uneven and rough, but we did see someone with a stroller getting around.
Really cool feature was the selfie stand, never seen one before, tried it, and worked really neat!
Andy Weinkauf — Google review
Beautiful State Park and well taken care of. The trails to the falls and covered bridge were easily accessible for my husband with his walker which was a bonus for both of us. Mosquitoes were plentiful so take proper care.
Deb Hanson — Google review
Omg this place was so beautiful!
Multiple falls and view points.
Check out snake pit.
Now and then falls wasn't flowing when we were there.
There's an approximately 2.5-mile loop that goes all the way around.
We mainly stayed on the one side but hiked down the gorge to get right up to the falls.
There's a cool covered bridge you can view the falls from as well.
And you can walk right along the river listening to the flowing water.
It was stunning to be standing down in gorge looking up. The pictures don't really show the true awesomeness of it.
I would definitely recommend stopping here. We were waterfall chasing, so we didn't spend a ton of time here, but you definitely could!
There are picnic areas.

Awesome place! Stopped by while visiting duluth and will be making another trip back to spend the day checking it out. There are so many trails to check out and waterfalls around every bend of the river. Was not expecting this place to be this cool! Also took a quick drive through the camping area and looks great woth all the camping spots separated by trees.

This is a terrific park for an easy hike around. It has well maintained trails, plenty of benches for you to rest on and tons of picnic tables. I think this place is a great option for families, couples, or anyone who can't hike challenging terrain.

The waterfall area will remind you of Zion National Park scenery, if you've been lucky enough to visit there. If you haven't been that lucky, then see Amnicon State Park for sure and you'll get an idea of what you're missing. Bring your swimsuit and maybe a floatie so you can soak and float in the dark water near the waterfall. In July the water is not cold. It's perfect on a hot day to take a refreshing swim in the temperate water. The geology of the area is fascinating; be sure to read the signage and if you can, take the geology self-guided tour. In some parks you have to stay on trails so as not to damage the fragile foliage off-trail. But here I didn't see any signs ordering you to stay on the trails. People were going down into the waterfall and stream area, so we did too. Gorgeous on a sunny day. Little fish in the water, even saw a tiny crayfish eating algae off the rocks. It's worth the 6.5 hour drive from Milwaukee if you also hit Pattison State Park. See if you can squeeze in Copper Falls as well.

Amnicon Falls State Park was beautiful during the fresh snow on 12-30-23! I love how this park has several waterfalls!

Beautiful, rustic campground. I live finding little gems like this. Not a crazy busy, big park. Great place to relax. Nice, easy-to-use and beautiful hiking trails. So many pictures taken, and they definitely don't do it justice. We have visited in the summer and in the spring just after a nice blanket of snow, not sure what time was my favorite. Just so much beauty in this little state park! Could just sit and listen to the falls all day, can't wait to go back!

If you like waterfalls, don't miss Amnicon Falls. These falls cascade over two arms of the Amnicon River. The park extends over more than 800 acres. Access to the falls is provided by trails, many over uneven granite trails. The covered bridge is a lovely feature.
James Aderman — Google review
First time camping here and it was a blast! The sites are spaced nicely, we got one of the two walk-in sites for added privacy, each came with the standard bench, picnic table, and fire pit. The front office has very kind workers with maps, firewood, and suggestions on trails and other parks nearby. The rain didn't keep us down! Get some ponchos and get a little dirty! We've gone just hiking here before and the falls will always take your breath away, or if that's not enough take the plunge into the Snake Pit ("no jumping" 😉). We live 5 hours away but would gladly come back any weekend.

An absolutely gorgeous place for an afternoon picnic or swim. The shallow river runs through boulders and outcroppings, allowing visitors to easily walk down its shores. Two deeper spots lie beneath the two main falls, making for perfect swimming holes during the summer.
The Glensheen Mansion is a historic home located atop a prominent bluff in the city of Duluth, Minnesota, that features extensively restored original furnishings. The mansion is open to the public for tours and features 39 rooms to explore. The property also includes a 12-acre estate with gardens, water features, and scenic bridges.
I would definitely recommend this place for your tourist destination, especially the Christmas tour. The mansion was beautifully decorated with over 25-Christmas trees and it got our family in the holiday mood. We came early on a weekday morning to avoid the crowds and got a personalized self tour taking our time.
Glensheen also has a huge amount of local history and the staff is very knowledgable about all things Glensheen I would also recommend going during daylight hours, as the natural sunlight helps to see all the details throughout the mansion. Family friendly, but don't touch anything inside.
Our son was an active military member so admission was free for all of us.

Always a wonderful time! This time I got to share the property with my children. Even though their noses are usually stuck in a computer, they loved seeing all the different sorts of rooms and imagining which one would have been theirs. My treat this time was being able to visit the 3rd and attic floors. They gave great insight to the "behind the scenes" part of the home.
Sara Simon — Google review
An amazing estate to tour with an interesting history which gives you a peek into how a wealthy family of Duluth lived at the turn of the 20th century. I did the full mansion tour and enjoyed seeing the boys rooms on the third floor as well as the storage space in the attic that aren't included in the classic tour, which includes the master bedroom and girls rooms on the second story, main floor as well as the basement with the servants quarters. The grounds are also beautiful and worth spending an hour or so wandering. There is a gift shop, ice cream shop, and a cart selling beer, wine, and a couple of cocktail options with a lot of outdoor seating by the water to sit and enjoy your ice cream or drink. Overall a beautiful house worth the $32 ticket for the full mansion tour to see (get there early to do the full mansion tour, you have to buy those tickets in person and I got one of the last tickets at 9:30am on a Saturday, just 30 minutes after they opened). My favorite rooms were the breakfast room (the oak leaf stain glass is incredible!) And Helen's room (the pink and green tiled fireplace?!).

SO sad they had to cancel guided tours to cut corners - 5 stars to 3. It would be 2 stars had I not done guided tours years ago. Fact: Tourists love a detailed history. Fact: We tip tour guides! Supposedly, there are guides you can download onto your phone. The absolute LAST thing we want to do is stare at a cell phone while at a museum. Otherwise why not just stay home and tour it from your couch?

I did the full tour over Easter weekend and I must say this was a lot more interesting and beautiful then I expected. The woodwork/craftsmanship across the property is breathtakingly beautiful. If you are interested in history, beautiful vista's, and amazing craftsmanship I recommend glensheen 100%

This place is amazing. The woodwork throughout this entire mansion is only to be seen in person. I'd have to say my favorite wow factor, " THE SHOWERS" The advanced system they had way back then is crazy. I would so so love to have just their shower in my place and I'd be a happy camper. Lol. Definitely a gotta stop place for your vacation.

Beautiful old house with a long history. The self guided tour is great, with lots of cool facts along the tour. Beautiful site and gardens!

The only reason for the 4 stars is price... lots of areas were close or restricted for the full tour but besides this, it is a very amazing place! The structure itself is mind blowing and the history behind is very interesting! It was like 60 for family of 4 (2 kids). You can spend as little as 1 hr but I would recommend to take your time to read and understand all the notes to have a better experience!

My daughters and I had a fun excursion today to the Glensheen Mansion in Duluth, Minnesota! We took the full, five-floor (3-floors plus the attic and basement), self-guided tour on an early Sunday afternoon. The flow of visitors through the mansion was well timed, so our visit didn’t feel crowded nor rushed. The mansion and its furnishings were well maintained. In past summer and early fall visits we have enjoyed walking through its well kept gardens. Today, we enjoyed all the festive Christmas and holiday decorations! ❤️

This place is pretty interesting. We got the lock and key tour. The girl was really nice and seem to know quite a bit about the mansion. However it was supposed to be an hour and a half and it seemed like she wanted to get through it very quickly we finished within the hour. Definitely not worth the $36. It should have included the rest of the Mansion as well.

Just go. When you see the sign, pull in for free parking. Go for the classic tour, which is totally worth $20/person. I have lived on the Iron Range most of my life and I finally went. The grounds are phenomenal and I had no idea just how HUGE that mansion really is. Totally amazing

It's pretty neat.. we did all the floors and I'd say it would have been a disappointing visit without it, except the attic, that wasn't very insightful. Was fun how they remove a velvet rope for your entry though ha.
Great place though with a garden, gift shop, terrace and fountain, a pier, several lounge spots, kid's areas, a small trail, hammocks, etc... deffo recommend if you're into that sorta thing :)
Took about 1.5-2 hrs to adventure the entire property.

Glensheen Mansion was super cool. The history inside the mansion was interesting, and the area outside was beautiful. The Christmas lights around the mansion was a nice Holiday touch.
It gets busier once the sunsets, so if you don’t want to wait in line for too long Id suggest going before 3pm, though the holiday lights wont get turned on until about 4:30.

When visiting Duluth, this is a MUST-SEE place to go! In the many times I have visited, I feel like I see new things every time. From the newly restored garden terrace to the gowns and dresses from the era of the Congdons, there has been something new and fascinating each time I’ve been. Tiffany Tiles and Glass to ornate wood finishes inside the house, winding and beautiful walking paths towards the lake and creek. This property is truly magnificent!
Always recommend allocating at least an hour or more to admire its true beauty and hidden gems!

The Aerial Lift Bridge connects the center of Duluth with Canal Park and Park Point. The bridge, which was completed in 1905, is a vertical-lift bridge that was converted into a transporter bridge several decades later. The Aerial Lift Bridge is one of the most iconic landmarks in Duluth and often referred to as the Eiffel Towel of Duluth.
What a Fantastic Bridge…
The Duluth Bridge is operated 24 hours a day, with skilled people at the helm. The bridge is raised and lowered for iron ore and cement ships, sailboats, and excursion tour boats. In the busy seasons of spring and summer, the bridge averages 26 lifts a day. Decades ago, pedestrians were able to ride on the bridge when it was raised. But, this was outlawed in the early 1980s after a horrible accident that claimed the life of a woman when she was crushed by the steel bridge.
The bridge operation is primarily through electric power derived from storage batteries that are charged by generators. If power lines fail, the generators can be operated by a diesel engine. There are two 450 ton concrete block weights on each end, lifted by electronic pulleys to raise and lower the bridge. It is an incredible feat, and a very good reason in itself to come to Duluth to watch the whole operating process.
Sujith Mohan — Google review
A classic area to stop by on every trip and nostalgic for me in the sense that Superior reminds me of the North East coast from my child hood (Absolutely beautiful lake). I think the only thing I can complain about is that people have felt the need to graffiti the Lighthouse and surrounding areas which is super disappointing that people would do this to the beauty of their own city.

Beautiful place to visit, especially at night. In the winter/fall it gets pretty windy so if you’re planning to visit it at this time of the year, make sure you have enough layers to keep you warm and comfortable.
It also offers a great view of the lake superior.

What a fun spot in Duluth! We watched several ships come and go through the bridge. The kids loved it! There's a harbor schedule and an app you can check and everything! We watched several leave and a salty come in!!

If you are in duluth or even passing by, there is always something so fascinating about stopping by to see the ships come through the lift bridge.
If you have a few minutes to spare, definitely make the stop for you or your kids (you'll enjoy it too 🤓).
You can look online at the ship times for when they will leave or enter so make sure to check that to make sure before you get there.
There is also a little shop/info center next to it with a bunch of cool information on lake superior and its history with the ships and what not.
If you are crossing the bridge, just check the ship times to make sure you don't get stuck on the other side if you need to be somewhere in a hurry!
There is plenty of parking in a lot next to the bridge also.

This a spiritual event, Every. Single. Time.
From anticipating the arrival of the distant vessel and listening to the Captain's Salute and bridge response - to watching the majestic boat sail off into the sunset, it's all awe inspiring.
As the words came over the speaker... "The American Century is loaded with 70,930 tons of coal," my mind was trying to fathom what that pile must look like.
The speaker continued, "The American Century is powered by four 3,500 horsepower General Motors 20 cylinder engines." Mind blown here. My prayers go out to those on this mighty ship today!
Rhonda Spellman — Google review
Giving it high stars for its uniqueness and design. Driving over it is spectacular. I suggest driving out to the tip of Minnesota Point. Lots of houses with gorgeous lake views and beaches. On the drive back toward Duluth, don't be surprised if traffic is backed up and stopped for 20-40 minutes. That means the bridge was raised, and you have to wait for it to lower. Locals call this "getting bridged."

I had never seen anything like this before so it was a real treat for me. We watched a 700' barge being pushed thru by a tug boat and it was very cool. There is an Army Corps of Engineers museum that is interesting. We drove about 45 minutes and it was worth the drive.

I would say this iconic bridge is not only a marvel of engineering but also a symbol of Duluth's rich maritime history. As the tallest vertical lift bridge in the area, it's a sight to behold, especially when it rises to allow large ships to pass underneath. The bridge provides access to the Park Point sandbar and is a popular tourist attraction in the area

I don’t understand how anyone rates this less than a five star.
It’s just a bridge doing its job of being a bridge; you could actually say it works extra hard because it also lifts up and down which is not an unheard of characteristic for bridges but it is an unusual one.
You’re doing a good job Aerial Lift Bridge and you’ll never be less than 5 stars in my book

Lovely state park that allows dogs. The trails were extremely quiet when we went in October to see the fall colors. There aren't a whole lot of trails, but what is there is well maintained and there is clear signage of where to go at each turn point. Most hikes start after the bridge.

We visited Jay Cooke in early August with our dogs. It was a beautiful park with lots of trails. We went on a Sunday and it was pretty busy and parking was scarce. The suspension bridge was fun with some great views. The dogs did not like it. Be careful once you cross the bridge, there’s poison ivy all over the place. We walked along the trail next to the river and it was mostly tree covered and a little muddy. Overall, we had a great time and would come back to explore even further.

Great place to spend a couple of hours as it has plenty to do and a lot of trails to travel around. There is plenty of free parking for people to use. Highly recommend this state park that is right outside of Duluth!

We loved our visit to Jay Cook! Amazing views! We loved the suspension bridge views and the overall park had some great trails! Also very accessible for younger children.
David Berggren — Google review
Gorgeous park with a breathtaking rapids that flows under your feet on the suspension bridge. There were some places to take a dip with our dog that were very pleasant too. While most people seemed to just congregate at the bridge, the hiking club trail provides some additional views of the woods in the park and was enjoyable. We will definitely be coming back.

We camped here for the first time (three couples, two kids under 3, and a dog) and it was a great mix of facilities and things to do. The state park has beautiful trails and we enjoyed a lot of time on the small beaches skipping rocks and enjoying the weather. The camp site was able to fit two tents easily with a water spigot nearby.
The porta potties near our site were much cleaner than I expected and the bathroom facilities (showers, toilets, etc) were clean, updated, and functional. Staff were also very helpful at the campsite office with the ability to purchase ice, firewood, and other miscellaneous items. An easy 5 stars!

Like all the beautiful things, they made your work for it. The swinging bridge is stable enough you can barely feel the swing in a breezy summer days, after you pass the bridge, you will need to do a little climbing and hiking on the rocks/narrow trail, to reach the real breathtaking beauty, and trust me, it'll all worth it!!
That water is great for your skin, btw..

Overall, we had an excellent visit. The staff are very knowledgeable and friendly. Very high quality and well maintained camp sites. Even in the pouring rain, we stayed nice and dry. The showers were clean and has warm water.
The trails around Jay Cooke State Park are truly breathtaking, but the hike can be a challenge. We had a blast exploring the Carlton Trail which featured a fair bit of navigating around fallen trees due to the heavy winter snowfall last last year. This was well stated on their website.

Nice place for a hike. The suspension footbridge gives a great view of this unique valley. Would like to see a formal trail along the river instead needing to walk the road. Visitor center with warm fire was delightful.

One of my most favorite state parks I've visited, and I'm excited to go back in 2024. This picture was so beautiful it won a photography contest, but that's also because Jay Cooke State park is insanely gorgeous. ;)
Rave McCarthy — Google review
Such a lovely park and a quick stop off the highway! The main attraction - the swinging bridge - is near the entrance so it's accessible to all. The rest of the park is lovely trails through the woods and by the river. It is a state park, so a daily or annual pass is required.
Lindsey Hiner — Google review
This is one of our favorite state parks and since Minnesota parks are the best in the nation, it is one of the best for sure!
The swinging bridge offers a great viewpoint of the St. Louis River. Because the river's look changes with different times of the year, stopping here several times gives unique views each time.
The campground is good and the Minnesota Parks online check-in site is one of the best in the nation as well. The sites are nicely spread out so that each camper has privacy along with a wilderness view.
The hiking and biking trails make this a park that can satisfy any outdoor adventurist's cravings. We've been here twice (once in the summer and once in the winter) and both times were great.
The ice on the falls is pretty cool. This is most definitely one of the most amazing river areas to visit. We will be back again.
Kyle Ackerman — Google review
Jay Cooke is somewhat overshadowed by the state parks further north, but anyone skipping the park is doing themselves a disservice.
The river feels every bit as wild and rugged as the rivers on the North Shore, plus there are many miles of hiking trails. It's easy to plan 10 mile (or more) loops where you'll rarely see another person.
Add in the excellent campground and the park is an easy 5/5.
Evan Pak — Google review
Great, well-kept camp sites, flat pads for tent camping. The bathrooms are clean, and they take care of them as well. There is also showers at the park if needed, as well as drinkable water.
The park is absolutely beautiful! The bridge is really cool. My kids will sometimes complain on a 10 min walk that their feet hurt. Yet on a 2.5 hour hike around Jay Cooke, they were just having an absolute blast! We have been here twice now for my daughter's birthday. I highly recommend it!

Such a great place to get away from the normal hustle and bustle of daily life!!!
I don't get to this park as often as I would like to, but I am never disappointed when I do get a chance to visit. It is very peaceful and beautiful.
The only thing better than an adventure around the trails of this park is an adventure around the trails with my camera in hand.

I had a great time and the entire staff was excellent.
With love water levels we did the lower section and was glad I booked with them. I had another trip scheduled a couple days before my trip with Swiftwater on a different river and they had to cancel due to the low water levels.

My granddaughter and I did the lower river white water. The guides and all the staff are great. Though the river is low Swiftwater did a wonderful job making this a memorable trip. We loved it and enjoyed the entire afternoon. I highly recommend this trip to all looking for a memorable day.

We had a great experience at Swiftwater! They definitely do it right: they provide a guide in the raft, several others in kayaks and one dedicated to taking photographs (there were 5 different groups rafting our time slot). We had never been rafting before and didn’t know what to expect, but the guides put us at ease. Our guide, Josh, was fantastic – very personable, helpful and provided clear instructions and guidance. The water level was unusually low (even for July), so it probably would have been more exciting with higher water, but we still had a blast nonetheless and hope to be able to go again. The photos are a bit pricey, but there is no sales pitch and they captured some great shots, so it was worth it for us.

Rafted with Trent on 6/22 with my husband & 3 kids. It was the absolute best experience for all of us, but especially as a first experience for our 3 boys (12, 11 & 8). Trent was very experienced and has the passion that spills over into everyone else in the raft. He was great with the boys & shared a lot of information about the river, wildlife & more. We wish him all the best & thank you for a great day! I don't think you can go wrong with anyone in this company!

a first time event for me and my wife, with experienced family. From inquiring on site to booking a tour, the check in instructions to the actual River experience was all great fun. Anyone wondering about age know you can do this. Our group ranged from a teenager to us folks in our 70s.
Guides were amazing and everyone was looking out for one another.
Highly recommend this experience.
Our niece and one of her sons did the high rope adventure before our rafting trip and both had a great time there as well.

These guys know how to host a phenomenal rafting adventure. We surfed a set of rapids multiple times, went swimming, and hit every fun feature of every rapid- it was a blast and we'll be going back often. Our guide Josh was the best, catering our trip to be as adventurous as possible, telling us all about the river, and going along with our fun shenanigans. Thanks for an epic adventure to remember Josh! Viewing our photo gallery after the trip was the icing on the cake!

I can't believe this adventure has been in our backyard and we just found it! Highly recommend Swiftwater adventures. The service was amazing. They took care of every need outfitting us in wetsuits or splash suits, helmets and lifejackets. Thanks for the Ride, Connor and all the guides were great!!

The place is close to Duluth. A must do adventure river rafting. You don't need to be an expert but should be ready to have lots lots of fun, some rush, and a quick dip in the river in case you fell in the river. But don't worry, you will float, and the expert will be there to pull you back in. Again, it is a must do adventure with a great team.

Giant’s Ridge has become mine and my husband’s go to place in Summer, Fall, and Winter. We LOVE the amazing trails for downhill mountain biking—so fun, great variety, and we’ll maintained. Best place in the state! We also love skiing there. Always great staff, scenery is AMAZING in any season, and prices are good for what you get! We recommend anyone who likes to MTB, ski/snowboard, or hike this place.
Sabrina Dahl — Google review
I was here skiing on Saturday 2/18/24. I will say the skiing was pretty good considering the off winter we had. All of the chair lifts were open. The facilities are also very nice. My only complaint is that we had to wait in line for 40 minutes at 11am for our lift tickets even though I pre purchased online and also filled out waivers online. The lift ticket line was an absolute disaster. They have windows labeled for online tickets but they had customers filling out rental paperwork by hand at all windows. There has to be a way to improve this experience. There were no lines for chairlifts. I can see they have some kiosks coming but they are not active. Why not just force everyone to buy online and fill out wavers online? Have the rental purchase located in a totally different area? The line had to be over 100 people long and was back to end of building.

The Quarry and Legends Golf courses are my favorite (including the Wilderness at fortune Bay) in Minnesota and even perhaps the US if you just include them in their forested/stone/water scenery. We always love to play them, and are well worth any driving you may have to do
Walter Williams — Google review
Played the 18 hole disc golf course. Lots of land to work with, and they made a great course. Front 9 is uphill then dip into the woods a bit as you play your way back down. Karen was extremely welcoming, and seemed genuinely glad we were out there to play. 3 restaurants on site. We also took about 40 pictures each, one of the most beautiful courses I have played. Worth the 2.5 hour drive!

Beautiful courses, very fun to play. Kudos to the staff for being so kind and helpful too. I’ll definitely come back again. The perfect Minnesota golfing weekend getaway! Also good for bachelor parties.

Another fabulous trip to Giants Ridge - this time for a girls trip. So much great hiking on the mountain and by the lakes we didn’t even have time to bike which is what I usually love to do here. On previous trips I’ve done the gravity mt biking which was way more fun (and easier) than I expected but the trails though the woods is what I love most. My husband loves endless miles on paved Mesabi trail. I was super impressed with the skiing which I tried in February. Can’t wait to go back this winter! I swear this location is Minnesota’s best kept secret for year round outdoor activity.

The hidden gem! We will be coming back again! A place where our private lessons were so much more affordable. Not crowded at all! Staff were nice! Pool and hot tub were a hit! Rental staff were great! Arcade is a bit dated but fun cause you could win little gifts. Rooms were clean! The chicken and wild rice soup was great at the ski lift area!

Great spot. I think some of the best terrain in MN and comparable to many places in the UP. One of the nicest and cleanest lodges in the Midwest and feels way more commercial than most others in MN. We will be back next season and plan to hit the downhill MTB this summer.
David Brace — Google review
MN #1 destination golf outing. It's pretty top notch in our opinion.
The range was fantastic and offered free range balls. A chipping green just up from the range and putting green down from it.
The range and practice greens were outstanding and offered lots of different shots.
Carts - we went with Finn scooters which is the only way to go if you can in our opinion. Otherwise they look to be pretty standard electric with good storage.
The course- we played The Quarry course. Bring a phone with for some photos and to brag to your friends that you birdied hole 2 and some extra balls if you double bogeyed it.
From tee to green this course offers challenging and surreal shots. The greens are near perfection. We can't say enough how fun and beautiful this course is. It's one for the bucket list.
The food in the course restaurant was very good, even if they did mess up the order.
If you haven't been there check it out and you won't be disappointed.
The bad
I ordered the brisket sandwich without coleslaw on it. It came with it on it anyway. Too bad it looked like it might be worth eating.
It was hot as hell and only saw the beverage cart 2x on the front nine. Normally it's not an issue but there is no great stopping point mid round.
The drive. Stay if you can near the course as our 7 hours in the car that day was a bit much. (I know my problem not the course but worth mentioning)
All in all one of the better courses we've ever played.

Great food, beautiful scenery, terrific skiing in the winter and awesome mountain biking trails in the summer. Love watching the state meet for xc skiing and celebrating Oktoberfest here in the fall! Overall a wonderful venue that could improve upon their cafe pricing system
Tor Hanson — Google review
We had a GREAT time here! Reasonable lift ticket price, lots of variety, very clean facility, friendly staff and FUN RUNS!
We live in the Minneapolis metro area, and find most of the local ski hills pretty lacking, especially for the inflated prices.
We spend a long weekend every year at Big Sky, which typically adds to local disappointment.
This 'last chance ski weekend' of the season at Giant's Ridge was a gamble that totally paid off! It was a nice upgrade from Buck Hill, Highland and even Welch Village. Totally worth the 3.5 hour drive and hotel stay.
The single disappointment was the ridiculously over-priced food court, which is standard at all ski areas, airports, etc. Next time we'll bring our own food, which will be easy because of the close parking!
NOTE: After your first visit, KEEP your RFID card. I believe you can then add trips to it completely online without having to wait in line at all...straight to the ski lift!
Went on the sleigh ride through the forest. Wonderful, informative kind guides! Gorgeous horses!

An authentic representation of a logging camp in the 1900s. Our guide was well-informed and very knowledgeable in the logging camp. Very cool place. I would highly recommend this tour. It took us about 2 hours to go through all the building. It is a fun place for kids

Enjoyed this history museum more than I thought we would! Should've come earlier bc they close the gates at 4pm. People there were interesting and inviting. Their horses are beautiful and so gentle for being such strong creatures. Great temperaments. Plenty of parking even for our RV. Dog friendly on trails which we did after hours, parking at the actual trailhead outside the museum. Worth the money.

This is a must see place for anyone living in Minnesota. The actors in the old buildings do an excellent job of telling you what it was like in the logging camps

We only entered the gift shop for the museum (only separated by the cashier) and grounds charged a fee. I'm sure they were worth it. We did enjoy the small gift shop. It didn't seem to be a problem to sneak into the grounds but we were honest.

Check in was also over 3mins longer then any standard check in. The pool was great with a walk in section for small kids. Huge hot tub And sauna. Slots were great.

My experience was overall positive. I had a blast at the table games and had friendly dealers (for the most part). Some of the alcohol rules are strange but to be expected at a Reservation casino. Drink waitress came around often. There was also a live band playing the night I was there which was a nice touch on the floor.
RESTAURANT: Not good. Over priced for a poor cut of meat and some absolutely terrible 'walleye'. Skip the sit down "fancy" restaurant, not worth the price.
HOTEL: Very nice clean and updated rooms. No complaints.
If it wasn't for the bad food at the restaurant it would be 5 stars

Nice game selection and change out choices (however, I do miss Monopoly). Just wish my luck of winning was better. Last night was lively though, the sound of live music & people winning was fun to hear. It was like a casino should be.

Wow, talk about going backwards! THIS PLACE STINKS LIKE A STINKY BUTT ASHTRAY. So many people with breathing problems, not to mention we just got done with a scamdemic having to do with breathing and lungs.
Everyone was used to having smoke-free healthy air to breathe since the pandemic closure. Nobody complained about clean air including the smokers, who gladly went outside to smoke.
Losing is one thing, but losing then leaving smelling like an ashtray, and coughing up secondhand smoke, is not worth it.
Whoever made this decision obviously does not care about the nice employees (some of them anyway) who work at Northern lights casino, or their health.
Will not be coming back. You can keep your dirty, polluted, cancer-causing air for yourselves.

*edit - I bumped it up one star after I summoned my inner Karen and talked to another clerk, her supervisor, and the housekeeping manager to find out that, indeed, my pillow was found and bagged for me to retrieve. I'm still not appreciative of the clerk rudely telling me my pillow was not in the room, as if it vanished into thin air.*
I stayed here one night. The room was comfortable and the food was OK. There is a great selection of slots. The staff was friendly and helpful.
I left something in the room - specifically a very expensive bamboo pillow. It could not be mistaken for one of their hotel pillows as it's very heavy, and it was in a blue checkered pillow case. I called back later in the morning and the desk person said he'd leave a note for housekeeping. Called back at the end of the day and the clerk said no pillow was found.
So... everything was great, right up until the housekeeping staff stole my property.

The hotel was decent. It's frustrating they don't take cash for incidentals at check in (like every hotel does), and when we did check in and get to our room, (which had 2 queens) I sat on the end of one bed and the frame broke. They did get it fixed immediately. The beds are extremely firm and very hard to sleep on. The view is alright but it is close to many great amenities like Shingobee. The pop machine on our floor was FULL of EXPIRED pop, it wasn't ideal. The staff were friendly and helpful, but overall the experience was just decent. Wouldn't be my first choice.

i am currently staying here at the hotel,
and i am disgusted by the service.
whoever was working the snack bar close should be fired. i was at the Fuchs and Young wedding and was trying to order myself something to eat before close, the individual said there was no more hot food at 1:52, we understood and ordered cold food kindly. when we offered our card payment the individual did not accept the card due to the maiden name not matching the name on the ID, i said “ if you find it that weird here’s cash” and after entering our order and asking for payment she told us at 1:56 that they were closed. and she walked away and turned the lights off in our faces. someone please look at the camera footage. we were not violent or aggressive and i believe this individual who closed on 09/09 and the camera footage indicates a very awful and mean employee. i’m prepared to expose them. shame on them. i will be calling about this and expecting an apology
disgusting.

Prime time Tuesday. Senior free play and 5.00 food. What a joke! When I received my meal I only received 3.00 off food. When I asked the players club why only 3.00 she told me well they changed it. I asked then why is it still on website. They forgot to change it! It's there monthly daily special..just ripping off the old people!

Where do I begin. Once it was time to finally check into our room. We found garbage underneath our bed and ripped up paper and nasty socks. That wasn't even the worst of it. As the night went on our room ended up coming alive. There was Asian beetles (little orange lady bugs that sink when you kill them and they bite) coming all over the place. It was horrible. When we brought it up to the front desk all they did was laugh and said we already covered this at one of our meetings.
Also there was smoking throughout this entire casino. At least at Hinkely and Milacs they have designated areas for smoking.
I am not pleased and will never be staying here ever again!!!

Our room was barely cleaned, there was trash in the bathroom, barely any toilet paper, the floor hadn't been swept or vacuumed. Our room cards stopped working after the first day and we had to get new ones. The Wi-Fi didn't work at all, and none of us had any service inside the building( aside from a few small spots). The one good thing is the snack bar had really good food and amazing service. I would go here again just for the snack bar if I could.

I really appreciated the fact that the hot tub was actually hot and not luke warm to accommodate children that shouldn't be in it anyways. The room was clean. The beds and pillows comfortable. The negatives were that upon check in there was a very long wait. If you tell all the guests to arrive at 4 than please have more than 1 employee helping the desk at that time!!!! Same thing in the casino restaurant (not the snack bar) We waited for a long time to be seated and it looked like it was closed down. Finally a hostess came. They were open. Just didn't look like anybody was working.

One of the worst casinos I have ever been to. 25 dollars for one point on rewards. These were the tightest machines I have ever played. You hardly ever get the bonus and when you do it does not pay. Stay far away from this place all they do is take your money and it is zero fun. They allow indoor smoking and the casino stinks real bad. All the staff seem like they can’t stand their jobs. Play anywhere else.

She screwed up all night on the cards. She then got An attitude at the other players saying they should pay better attention after she dealt them wrong! Your kidding me! She started slamming chips down and acting like a lunatic being pissy with everyone. Listen, we have been going to the casino for 30 years and played many tables in our time of blackjack. Although the employees were super nice I stayed the night and never ran into anyone that won at all. Also, it was ridiculous to me that it wasn't at least mentioned at check in that shampoo/conditioner/lotion/SOAP were available if I went back downstairs to get it. Staff is unable to bring things into the room. I consider a bar of soap for the sink as necessary as toilet paper. At least that was provided. Kind of a let down, especially considering most other casinos offer midweek free rooms. Doubtful I'd stay again.
This park with diverse wildlife offers camping, hiking, fishing, picnicking & cross-country skiing.
Great park! Nice long beach with plenty of room to spread out. A good selection of hiking trails. Unfortunately when we were there the horse flies were out on the trails. There is a paved one mile spur trail that you can take to get to the Paul Bunyan bike trail. You can ride this trail into Bemidji and beyond. We stayed in site 87. This is a great site for tenters.

I’ve been coming to this campground since I was young and it still holds up after all these years. A clean and well kept campground with lots to offer. I loved exploring the bike trails and being able to walk to the bog from our site. The bathrooms were clean and stocked. It’s an added bonus to be close to town just in case.

Walked the Bog Boardwalk. You get amazing views of plants, Forest, and wildlife. The boardwalk contains many informational kiosks as points of interest to gain a greater appreciation of the plant life.

This is a great park. Nice views, trails, overall hard to to wrong with this park. Short drive from Bemidji to this park.

Great park in an wonderful location. Lakeside beach , playground for kids, walk, hikes or ride as we did out of the park directly onto Paul Bunyan State Trail. Big Hike is easy and a MUST. We’re in a 36ft class A . Would suggest a close look on google maps for larger rigs as some loops would present a challenge though doable. Park is well staffed and manicured.

This is a great State Park with a good mix of activities. A large clean Beach with picnic shelters shower rooms volleyball court horseshoes and grills in a grassy shaded area down by the lake. Campground is nice but limited privacy between sites. There is an excellent modern playground near the beach area. Rental bikes are available. The boat launch has ample parking and docks where you can leave your boats temporarily while you are at the park. A large Pier is available to fish from and there is a fish cleaning house.
Well-known roadside landmark offers large statutes of American folk hero Paul Bunyan & his ox, Babe.
The Visitor Center staff were so helpful in introducing us to the area and local attractions as well as history. A must stop especially if you have kids who will love the playground. Great location to stretch the legs as you walk around the lake.

Very nice park and land mark. Beautiful view of the lake. Excellent playground to burn 🔥 up some energy from that long car 🚗 ride. Enjoy the history of Paul &Blue. Like & follow for more. 45 Million views and counting 😁 Thank you! Travel well.

We stopped in the off-season and off hours, so we did not go into the shopping area.
It was a beautiful, warm February day. Meant a nice couple there taking pictures.

These two definitely catch the eye as you drive through town. They're set in a nice little park with pretty views. We stopped by during a little snow storm, so we jumped out of the car, snapped a photo, and drive away. Nearby are some cool sculptures paying homage to indigenous peoples, so make sure to stop and see those. I'm sure if you came on a nicer day, this would be a good spot for a picnic.

Stopped here just to see Tall Paul and Babe, but found this lovely Visitor Center and park. The Visitor Center had closed just minutes before, but we took picture with the Bemidji Sign, and the park and lake. Nice playground and covered picnic pavilion. There is adequate parking, lots of green areas, and the big lake. A cold wind was coming off the water, so we did not stay long, but it was a pleasant place. Clean and well-cared for. Restrooms are in the Visitor Center building.

We made sure to stop in Bemidji just to take a picture with Paul & his babe. These sculptures are well kept. You can tell that the city takes pride in them.
The park next to the statues seemed clean & safe. We saw a lot of families having a great time.
Even though it was after hours we were able to use the restroom in the visitors center near the statues which was nice.

Very cool MN large legend and his ox. Worth it to see the large possessions he had that were not human sized. Fun park for the kiddos too.

Very interesting. Beautiful park around water, nice walking trail. Visitor center there also.

stopped on way home with my 2 year old to let him burn some energy and he had sooooooo much fun. Everything was pretty clean except all the goose poop all over the beach area but not much can do about that. My favorite thing was having CLEAN bathroom stalls in the visitor center so we could continue with potty training. Though the change table was not stocked with napkins and wish they had paper towels in addition to hand dryers. But we had a great time and would stop again!

It was a brisk March day so we didn't stay long. Got pics and visited the visitors center. Plan to come back when it's a bit warmer and spend more time. Great looking play area for kids.

Iconic northern MN park to visit. There is an inclusive playground, tourist info...so cute inside with real bathrooms and lots of info about the community.. theater, trails, events etc. Rent paddle boats or kayaks from there too. Walk along the lake to BSU and keep walking to the next large and amazing Diamond Point Park. From this location it's easy to cross the street and grab a home made ice cream cone from Big River Scoops. A block away is the Paul Buysn Sub Shop..yum! Close to an amazing hot dog stand as well! Enjoy your time here!

Nice little tourist spot. They have a little gift shop and info center. Worth the stop if you’re nearby.
Indoor sports arena at UND Grand Forks hosting college hockey games & concerts, with 11,600 seats.
This place is always the best place to go on a Friday night. Most of the tickets are under $30 and their food options are amazing. They also have beer and after game busses to popular bars around town.

Took in a tour of the facility - very impressive and great attention to detail. An amazing place for athletes to grow and compete with a rich history and heritage. It was interesting to learn more about the late Ralph Engelstad and his foundation and the generosity and appreciation they display towards this facility, the athletes and the community. As a former long time facility manager, I was also blown away at how meticulously maintained and cared for this facility is. Everyone clearly takes pride in and appreciates what they have. A good example to follow for sure.

What a beautiful arena and all around great experience. (Even if my team lost!)

The Ralph never fails to entertain! I've been there several times and still haven't found a bad seat in the house. We usually just get the cheap seats up in the 'nose bleeds' but even they offer a great view. The staff is great. They are very professional and well trained. Bathrooms are clean and every where. Tons of food options with prices on point for what they should be.

Beautiful stadium, helpful staff, handicap accessible and very clean.

One of those rare arenas where there is not a bad seat in the house. I make it back very rarely these days after several years as a hockey season ticket holder, and if there’s a way to swing a visit when I am in town, I always do so.

Indoor water park at a hotel resort with slides, pools, a lazy river, hot tub & play area.
Kids loved this place. Can see everything from almost any corner. Safe and yes some things are dated but still very functional. They're remodeling most of it so I'm excited to take my kids back to enjoy some water time since limited to do much outdoors here. I'm sure once they are done remodeling mid March will updated and a lot more fun. For smaller towns like we live in here. This place is fun and a good one to take the kids.

Terrible experience! Chlorine was WAY too much. I almost threw up because of all the chlorine, I couldn’t stop coughing. My eyes BURNT. Only fun parts were the slides and the basketball hoop, other than that, painful experience. The hot-tub had the most chlorine of everything else, I could barely breathe.

We stayed at the hotel and booked a large cabana all day for my kid's first birthday party. Though the cabanas were still not installed and it was a large open space, we were still able to make it our own. Kid's and adults enjoyed the pool and water activities. Happy that they were very accepting that we brought in some small kid friendly snacks, juice and water for our guests. The roof in our cabana was leaking though which was annoying as we had to move things so they wouldn't get soaked.

My kids had fun. Slides were great and the people were nice. Unfortunately the hot tub had much too much chemical and people were coughing and getting red eyes and rashes but it's the only way to warm up. Also the showers in the change room are automatic and you can't control the temperature and the water was way too hot. I expect I'll go again but hope there's some improvement.

Nice family place, the change rooms need more cleaning , the big slide is amazing

Amazing waterpark for young kids. 2 regular waterslides plus a tube waterslide, and a few others for toddlers. Multiple pools, lots of activities. Bright, clean, and warm. You could easily spend a few hours here without getting bored. Awesome place. Wish we had something like this in Winnipeg.
canadabeau — Google review
Over 1/3 the attractions when down. Most of the rest where in a state of disrepair. The kids area was off. The child area was slide only all the sprayer where down. The hot tube was about 85° Everything was dirty. The toilet bowl slide was a lot of fun.

Our visit is on Dec 26/27. We didn't enjoyed the water park as we used to as the whole family kept coughing when we were in Hot Tub. I thought we might all caught some virus until I read @Gregory Johnson's comments. It's definitely the chemical added to the water that irritate the throat! Hopefully the issue would be solved before our next visit!
Xu Yang — Google review
Completely overpriced for the experience. Over crowded, not nearly enough seating/table space, a small handful of tubes for several hundred people to share. It’s a cool water park but the quality of the experience is more closely related to a $10 entrance fee opposed to a $24.
Probably won’t be back any time soon.
Kellie Pfeifer — Google review
It is a great place for families, but very loud and echos terrible, with the music on you can barely here people in your group talk. The chlorine is also very strong, and the eyes and lungs burn for a bit.

Our children keep asking to go back. Lots of fun here. Lifeguards on duty. Kidde pool, slides, lazy river, rarotonga, big pool, hot tub...something for everyone, pizza restaurant and games arcade attached.

I really love the slides, nice and go or speed when you ride them, it’s just the yellow horizontal pole.
I really love the hot tub, very comfy and warm.
And the thing I like the most is the Rarotonga since it’s super fast and it’s very enjoyable.

Great place for all ages. Small pool for the littles and big pool for others. Huge toilet bowl slide and a lazy river. Big slides for all ages that does not intimate my 3.5 yr old granddaughter and 7 yr old Grandson. After 2.5 hours of fun, they are wore out.

This place is very fun, awesome for kids and it has good food the arcade is very fun. The only few complains I have is that the chlorine is very strong and my cousin was coughing and she said it hurt to cough my brother also was coughing my aunts eyes were burning, and also the showers are really hot and some of them didnt even work.
Mystery Person — Google review
Very disappointed with the arcade, 3/4 of games didn't work . Hot Tub was so chemical eyes watered burned and nose burned all night. Tavern was extremely over priced and only operated on 1/4 menu sited it was too busy . We were there ar 645 restaurant had maybe 5 tables in total inside . When we booked we were told price included waterpark , arrived and were charged extra $40 for less than 24 hours . For a Canadian company they certainly take advantage of the Canadians who try to support them . Will never stay again . Not to mention the desk agent looked as though they rolled out of bed ...covered in hickeys completely un professional.
The Mennonite Heritage Village in Steinbach recreates Mennonite life from the 16th century to the present day. It features a variety of furnished buildings, including an early-1900s Russian Mennonite village, gallery and restaurant. The site is great for spending a full day and is entrance fee applicable.
Great place to spend a full day. Didn't have a chance to check out their restaurant. Will try it out next time. Thank you for the great time we had.

Wow! This museum is outstanding. The staff were so friendly, the information was very easy to understand. I spent about 2.5 hours there and still had to cut my time short. I would recommend 4 hours there if you enjoy reading and looking at everything! I didn’t stop in the restaurant but the menu looks delicious. Definitely worthy of your time!

Winter in the Village is very cute! Hot chocolate and apple cider included. You can rent kick sleds and go skating, and they light fire pits for you and include marshmallows to roast. You can go to the historic museum inside as well. You can find more info on their website but it runs I think December through February. We paid $6 to get in.
Note: the website that said there would be b live music on Friday nights but there was none when we went; they said they couldn't find someone. So if you are banking on the music and more people being around, then I would recommend calling in advance to double-check if the entertainment is in fact on.

Better than we expected! Shed light on some
Interesting history. They even have a chunk of the Berlin Wall! (Which seemed unrelated to Mennonite history?) Not a huge hall, and all the outdoor buildings are closed in the winter seasons starting in Oct. took us 2 hours to go thru what was open, a great amount of time.

What a gem! How have we heard so little about this? Everything about this place was fantastic. The food, the volunteers, the pioneer buildings, the petting zoo, the museum, the soddy. We'll definitely be returning.
EDIT: the original review above was from last year Canada Day. We returned again this year for Canada Day, this time with extended family, and enjoyed it all over again. I'm not sure what it is like on a normal day but it was lovely today. Bonus, there are loads of places to fill up water bottles with nice water. And we discovered nice bathrooms this year. Last year we only used the old bathrooms. Clean but not so nice. But there are brand new beautiful bathrooms. I don't know how we missed them last year!

Coming from an Anabaptist background this place felt like home to me. It's well maintained, the lawn is groomed; everything about this place makes my German heart happy.
The Windmill works, there wasn't enough wind the day we were there to make it turn but someday I hope to see it spin.
I had thought this place was just for school field trips but it's definitely worth a visit.

Our family loves this place. In the summer, their buffet lunch is very yummy! The gift shop is fun on the grounds and my kids like to visit it and get a candy treat there. I like all the events they do there. Lots of variety for family and fun things to do there

One of my favourite sites to visit!
If you are planning a trip to Manitoba, are prepared to drive to a suburb, want to feel and experience early to mid 1900s living, and enjoy vintage automobiles and animals, this is the perfect spot to go because many of the structures and items have been kept in outstanding shape. Plus, the quilts they created are awesome!
Additionally, as a Christian and first generation immigrant myself, understanding more about the first generation Mennonite immigrants from Europe and Soviet Russia was fascinating.
However, due to the lack of public transit from Winnipeg to this location, it can be challenging for some of you, particularly travellers, to visit. Nevertheless, I still highly recommend you to stop by here if you get the chance!
