First time here today and had a great visit with the front desk, she directed me around the trails. An owl was on the arm of a volunteer out front, and I took the Tower Trail to the River trail.
Such a beautiful spot, looking forward to returning, especially for events!

I love my visit to this site! There is so much to see and do at this location. There’s no way I think anyone could hike it all in one day. Is you like to hike and be in nature, this is a great place to do it. The only reason I am not giving this place 5 stars is because of how hard it is to navigate around the center and on the hiking trails. All the different trails are not clearly marked, and it can get easy to get turned around. I definitely recommend buying a guide map for $1 in the visitor’s center and keeping it with you, because even the map can be a little confusing. As long as you keep your wits and have a good sense of direction you’ll be fine. It’s well worth the visit!

Ijams nature center has something for everyone. For this review I am discussing Meades Quarry. The park roped off a section for privacy during the wedding I was performing. The only sad thing was the trash floating in the water. Go visit and please respect the space.

Very nice place for a nature hike. They have added so much to this place over the years it's amazing. Tons of trails. Amazing play structures. Kayak rental, treetop rope course, and so much more. Beautiful views, if you are a nature lover or looking to teach your kids more about the great outdoors it's a wonderful place to visit. Very helpful staff also and if you are just looking to hike it's free but they do accept donations to help run the place. They also have a nice little gift shop here.

Nice place with nature surrounding. The admission is free. There is visitor center located here with gift shop, exhibit and restrooms available. Plenty of parking space available. There are several trails available here some offering lake and River views. There are couple of ponds. One of best hike would be to take storybook trail and then take north cove trail. Continue on north cove trail to river trail or river boardwalk trail. One will get to see some beautiful view of the river from the boardwalk. You can then either return back or continue further to take tower trail to return back to visitor center. Overall a nice nature place to spend few hours around.

Fun nature center. We only did the riverwalk/tower hike, but there are many more trails to explore. Also you can rent a variety of boats to use on the river. Friendly/helpful staff. Please note: trails are not well marked, so just keep google maps open/active to make sure you are going the right way.

A wonderful nature center with multiple trails, some paved and others not paved.
We really enjoyed the River Trail.
Main building and paved trails appear to be wheelchair accessible. All other trails do not appear to be wheelchair accessible.

A Knoxville gem!
Ijams is a part of the Knoxville Urban Wilderness and a true gem within city limits. It resides on something like 300 acres off of a narrow, winding road in south Knoxville.
There are a handful of trails and outdoor events for families and individuals and a variety of playgrounds for kids.
The gift shop offers snacks, outdoor necessities, and local products.
While you’re here, check out the indoor exhibit with the turtles, then hit the trail for some fresh air and the secret pond.

Great place for a day out with the family and kids. Nice walking trails and interpretive centre with hands on activities for kids. Nice escape from the city with plenty of wilderness. Definitely worth a visit if you enjoy the outdoors.

Being new to Knox, this place is beautiful. FIDO friendly, lots to do for all ages. Great hiking or just perfect is you want to walk around and look at all of the beautiful animals, sitting areas or if you want adventure, you can visit the zip line. Beautiful walkway around the water. This is a must see if you are in the Knox area.

Spending a few days in Knoxville for the first time and ijams was probably one of the most recommended activities. It did not disappoint. SO many trails. Very nice views of the Tennessee River and Mead Quarry Lake. Multiple places to put in boats. Some cool animal exhibits at the visitor center. People were very helpful in advising which trails to take. Definitely check it out if you're looking for an outdoor activity in the Knoxville area.

All-time favorite hiking location near downtown Knoxville! I’ve been coming here for years, just exploring around, and continue to be amazed each time. I highly recommend going to the Nature Center to pick up a map first, as there’s so much to see. Each trail has an incredibly cool feature on it, and some trails took me years to find. Some are paved or have gravel, while others are full-on hikes. There are two locations to park at - the nature center, which has most of the shorter hikes, most with pavement or gravel, plus high ropes course (the Navitat). Or at the quarry down the road on the opposite side, which has the quarry/water, longer hikes, two hidden quarries behind the main one, mountain biking, natural rock climbing, etc. They just recently started charging for parking, but only a couple of bucks. Very dog and family friendly!

Went bike riding. Rented bikes from the park and helmets. The trail starts in the middle so you can take one and come back then take the other and come back. Has some nice hills to go down but riding back up is tough. Trails are concrete and shared with walkers. Be sure to yell which side you are coming up on the walker so they can move over. Beautiful ride. Great exercise. Have fun. Went on a Sunday. Get there before lunch and their were maybe 8 bikes for rent. When we got back from our ride, they were all out. You have to pay for parking. It's like $12-$15 for the whole day.

Ijams is a wonderful space that's free to visit located right on the border of Knoxville. All I did during my visit was walk the river trail and added a few of the shorter trails on as I wandered around the grounds. There's climbing, a canopy adventure area, kayak rentals, and children's activities. If you're just passing through like I was, this is somewhere I'd highly recommend even if it's just to stretch your legs. The grounds and trails are very well maintained and bathrooms were clean.

What a gem this place is. We finished visiting the Knoxville Botanical gardens quicker than expected. I had this marked on the map and took a chance. This was a highlight of our trip. Definitely take the Riverwalk / board walk. the amount of spring flowers in bloom was amazing, trilliums covered the hillsides. The river walk had a feature we've never seen before, a geologic fold. that was an amazing thing to see first hand. If we lived nearby, we would definitely be checking out all the many trails.

Was looking for a hike near knoxville so we didn't have to drive all the way down to the smokey mountains and this didn't disappoint!
The attendant was superhelpful, the sights were incredible, and the trails we went on were well taken care of.

Definitely worth the visit if you are in Knoxville. For me, the river boardwalk trail is a unique element. You need to hike a trail down hill to get to the boardwalk, and it's worth it. Admission is free, but there is a charge for parking ($5). There are other trails around the main office. For me, the scenery around the quarry was not as appealing, but I hear there are several trails around the quarry (which I did not walk) that are nice. There are also boat activities on the quarry, which were not in operation when I visited (late March).

Beautiful place to visit. Nice walking along the river, seeing the boats and kayaks go buy. The wildlife all around. Love being so connected to nature. Trails are well kept. Peaceful and quiet. Very enjoyable, easy walk.

Last visited 2/15/24. Decided to stop in and see what the River Landing Walk was like. Wife and I had a great time just puttering around and enjoying the nice day.
The Knoxville Zoo is a great place to visit for families with kids, as it offers educational experiences and plenty of activities to keep everyone entertained. From camel rides and carousels to splash pads and even a family petting zoo, there's something for everyone at this zoo.
I have been coming here since 2000 with my family. We are proud members! One of our favorite zoos. Not as big as the Nashville zoo, but they just seem to have better Layout /Exhibits / Lot of places to stop and rest with benches, Picnic tables. Not to meet you boo with the zoo but Halloween is our favorite thing every year. I don’t like the fact to expose you have to go through the gift shop to exit the zoo. Now that usually causes a little problem with the kids. That really the only thing I hate about this zoo. Should be an option to exit without going through the gift shop.
Carolyn Smith — Google review
One of the best zoos I've been to. The animals seem happy and active, and not only are the exhibits top notch with multiple view points, some of which are inside (with A/C!), but the walking paths are engaging with thoughtfully placed water misters and shade! So much care for the animals and guests. Plenty of attractions to keep kids happy, the food is actually good and reasonably priced. Definitely worth a trip!! 10/10

I live about 45 minutes away from Knoxville and yearly we get memberships to the zoo. I highly recommend doing so if you live in the area! The zoo is smaller than many zoos, but still has a lot to do and see for kids of all ages. They’ve recently renovated their habitat for reptiles and it looks great! They host seasonal events and activities (Boo at the Zoo, dinosaur takeover, etc.). The splash pad is great, the petting zoo and play area are cute, and the food at the restaurants are (expectedly) overpriced, but good quality. They do well in their maintenance and cleanliness and it seems like the animals are well cared for.

Went to the Knoxville zoo today with my kids. We went up to get our tickets and the girl charged me for my two year old who should have been free. After I corrected that she also charged $5.00 for parking. The lot was so full we had to park over by Muse and we still got charged for parking. So for four of us we paid $80.85. That's kind of steep for a zoo this size. Once inside we realized many of the animals were not outside. Many enclosures had nothing to view and several people were commenting on it. Also couldn't help but notice lots of the concessions stands were closed as well. It's spring break and it was very crowded. My kids rode the train and the merry go round and both were an additional $4 per kid per ride. They did however enjoy both. What animals we were able to see my kids enjoyed. They also loved the dinosaur a lot. The petting zoo was a favorite of the kids as well. I gave three stars because my kids did enjoy the experience. My girl and I were somewhat disappointed and probably had a two star experience. They need more animals and more viewing opportunities for the animals they do have. The kids were entertained and I guess that's all that counts. Being forced to exit through the gift shop with kids felt like a final cash grab. Water for $3.50 in the vending machine with all the water fountains off was frustrating. I would reluctantly recommend a visit but not really enthusiastically. We wished we had a better time but we're just being honest.

We love Zoo Knoxville! My daughter adores all her animal friends who live at the zoo. She is a big fan of monkeys, red pandas, ghiraffes, otters, and tigers. The zoo is well arranged for ease of visiting. This zoo's trails run in loops and the animals have reasonably large well appropriated paddocks. There is plenty of shade for the animals and humans that are at the zoo. The zoo has sunscreen and hand sanitizer dispensers throughout their facilities for sanitizing and preventing children from getting sun burnt. There is also a splash pad for children and parents to cool down during the hot of the Summer. This zoo is definitely a world class Zoological Park.

We love this zoo! The staff is so friendly, and very knowledgeable. We had the opportunity to go to a party hosted privately after hours, and to have the zoo to ourselves was such a wonderful experience. The guided tours, refreshments along the way, feeding the giraffe and a catered dinner, just wow! They pull out all the stops!

For about 10 yrs we have bought yr passes...we have skipped a year here and there before openings of new exhibits...we are such a big fan of knoxville zoo...they have some neat exhibits and fun experiences...till September you can walk the trails and see the dinosaurs and some move...the new outer space is one of our favorites. Being up close to red pandas and a sloth is pretty cool too! Not to mention riding carousel.

It was a wonderful day with my son, their Uncle Wesley, and 2 & 3 yr old granddaughters. Their parents were on a BD and Anniversary get away. It was miserably hot so the misters were nice to walk through. All the animals were out and we seen them all but the Bears. We actually noticed how Healthy all the animals looked too. We are so very proud of Knoxville Zoo. The moving and roaring Dino's throughout was exciting. I wish we had known more about the Dino Eggs while we were actually there. But my 3 yr old found them anyway. The old Safari Jeep was a perfect idea for kids to play in. It was truly a wonderful day to spend with my grown son and our little ones.

Have been to many of the zoo's throughout the US and this has become our favorite! At the end of our 1st visit we bought memberships and going back regularly. Love the layout of the animals and allows you to feel like you are up close and personal. The animals all look so healthy and happy with their unique enclosures. Even on a cooler cloudy day, the zoo is a great place to visit and enjoy a walk. A must go for everyone, it won't disappoint.

We love this zoo so much!!! Great reptile exhibit indoors for inclement weather. Love the new otter habitat too! Plenty of good food options and places for kids to play between visiting the animals. Kids got to feed a sloth one time too!
Courtney Cartellieri — Google review
A pretty decent zoo for the price. It's about $25/person to get in, and you can easily spend a few hours here. They have a good amount of things for small kids to keep them busy. There's a nice play area, petting zoo, carousel, and a splash pad. The assortment of animals is pretty standard for a zoo. I did appreciate the turtle and frog section they have set up. The gift shop is very pricey, so get your stuffed animals elsewhere and skip the markups.

Great experience. Lots of animals and very spacious. This is one of the better zoos that I've been to. I think the directions are a little difficult to follow, But ultimately you will manage I really enjoyed the up close and personal tiger area and then the lion area.

Giving a three stars simply because 3-4 exhibits was empty. We wasn’t able to see the zebras, tiger, otters, rhinos they where no out. I’m unsure what was going on but my little girl was so sad about the zebras. The dinosaur exhibit was truly wonderful. We have a Dino obsessed little boy and he was amazed. They made the whole trip worth it just to see him smile. Over all nice zoo would recommend updating the strollers too they were a little run down. But I do like that they have that option to be able to rent one. Parking was a mess but not the zoos fault it was just a busy time.

The Knoxville Zoo is a great place to spend the morning before the day gets too hot. Even when the animals are too hot, you can still see them indoors as these spaces have glassed viewing areas. My daughter and I spent around 2 1/2 hours viewing the animals and reading about the various conservation programs such as the Red Panda Preservation. Surprisingly, the Dinosaurs at Dawn exhibit was also a favorite and we were impressed by their animatronics. Parking was free and easy. The other visitors seemed to be local parents/grandparents with small children.

Zoo Knoxville was great, however some of the enclosures did not have any of the animals posted that was supposed to be in them (just a few enclosures). We did get to see several animals which did make for the empty enclosures. We stepped into one of the cafes got in line to grab a drink. The cashier was putting souvenir cups together and putting the straws in them with her bare hands (should of been wearing gloves) we saw this and left the Cafe. Our experience was great but could have been better. We will come back to the animals.

Nice little Zoo. (I'm from San Diego, and our Zoo is very large and more than one park, which is why I said little Zoo.) They do a nice job with the enclosures. Fun outing to take the Grandkids for the day! They're doing a little remodeling, so there were a few interruptions to the flow around the park. They have the natural habitat type of enclosures, which I appreciate. Lovely weather, we had a lot of fun! I also appreciate the fact that they have free admission for Veterans! Good job!!

Great place to take your kids of any age! Yes some days the animals are hiding and you don’t see much but other days they are out and about it’s amazing to see! Some times they even have zoo mascots come out and interact with the kids! I think the food is a bit pricey but overall a great zoo experience!

Very clean. They have fun interacting animals And they also have extinct animals like this One that Is mixed with a Tiger bear and has horns on his head. And they're also coming out with a dinosaur Except they have fun interacting. Little rides for the kids like under 4 or 5 or 6. And you can put them on the little scooters that are shaped like animals and you can ride with them around in the park. They also have a petting zoo a playground and the sandbox for them. You should go.

The Knoxville Zoo is a fantastic place to visit. With a diverse range of animals and well-maintained habitats, it provides an enjoyable and educational experience for all ages. The staff is knowledgeable and passionate about conservation, and they offer informative talks and feeding sessions. The zoo's layout is easy to navigate, and there are plenty of shaded areas to take a break. It's a great destination for families, animal lovers, and anyone looking to support wildlife preservation. We love the Zoo! We are season pass holders if you are a family and plan on going more than once get the pass it’s totally worthy it. They have great events (Boo at the Zoo) and you can even get married there! I’ve officiated 3 weddings there. The staff is always friendly and willing to help you. They also have a great kids area with a sand pit, a little water feature (not together) and an aviary that you can going and touch the birds!

World's Fair Park is a site of the 1982 World's Fair, featuring an amphitheater and various events. The park also boasts the Sunsphere Tower, which has an observation deck providing stunning views. Additionally, there are beautiful works of art throughout the newly opened Tennessean Hotel nearby, with spacious rooms offering park views. Market Square is just a short walk away and visitors can easily explore Knoxville on foot from this location.
We arrived when the grounds were closed. Which was the best, because no one was around, except workers. The Globe thing and mural under the bridge is what I came for and I wasn't disappointed.

Nice park with a water feature across the street. Great "free" family outing, the kids will definitely enjoy. The water feature is really nice, and it has great seating area.
🚨I think the playground is for ages 5-12. If you have toddlers that visit, just be mindful that the items of park are geared for older children.
I love how the park offer sunscreen dispensers, that's be very thoughtful!
Free parking is a 3-4 minute walk away, and the max time is 4 hours, which is plenty to enjoy.
Overall it's a great place to come to bring kids for a little fun on a hot day.

My brother just moved to Knoxville and I helped him drive out from Arizona.
With four small children in tow, we explored this fun park on New Year's Day. There are plenty of fun things to enjoy - including the Sunsphere platform, a reflecting pool, bird mural, various county flags on display, an Ampitheater (where my nieces and nephews, my brother, my dad and I did a little performing - singing and dancing to a song we enjoyed listening to on our drive cross country - the five or so people also enjoying the Ampitheater were kind enough to clap at the end ;)
For the kids, the best part was the playground. We enjoyed playing until it started raining again and we headed back to the car.

This is a beautiful park, there's a water feature. And, the Sunsphere observation deck gives you a 360 view of the city. This is really fun little excursion if you happen to be downtown Knoxville. You will need a reservation to go up to the observation deck. It costs $5 and you purchase tickets online. They have a few souvenirs once you get up there and the tickets are in 30 minutes blocks... although, you do not have to leave at the end of your 30 minutes... just know that another group is coming up and it will be crowded

Super cute little park complete with four slides, a tall tower to climb ladders and ropes. There is a huge silver slide at the top of the tower as well.
A neat addition to the downtown area!
The only downfall was not the playground itself, but near the playground on the sidewalk. Someone had broke a huge mirror and it was shattered into pieces all over the sidewalk.

I was excited to visit this historic place, but it turns out everything closed at five. There wasn’t any signage outside to gain historic insight. It would be a sweet concert space. A sweet memorial was worth the visit.

This is the World’s Fair Park in Knoxville, Tennessee. I first came here in 1982 when they were having the World’s Fair. I was 8 years old at the time. They have since turned in into a splash pad and added a play ground. Not to mention many other activities go on year around here. I used to bring my kids here every chance I could when I lived in Knoxville. Now my daughter brings my grandson’s. I love it here!❤️

Its smaller than I expected, but its still an interesting place to visit. You have to book your time slot in advance and the hour is plenty of time to look out over the views and read the interesting information boards.

Nestled against the University of Tennesse the The World's Fair park offers a great place to let the kids run around like someone left the gate open. They can enjoy the massive splash pad with some jets shooting over 10 feet. The playground is super cool with plenty of interesting structures. There is a huge expansive of grass as well.
For Adults there is the Sunsphere tower built for the 1982 World's Fair where the observation deck provides a spectacular 360 degree view of Knoxsville and the Smoky Mountains. Also be sure to catch a performance in the Amphitheater.

It's a very nice park and we'll mantained. It's a good place to walk and relax a short walk from downtown.
Smithsonian-affiliated museum featuring pioneer buildings & exhibits of regional history & culture.
The Appalachia Museum is a very beautiful place with many interesting features. I was invited to good to the restaurant without me knowing anything about this gorgeous 64 acre treasure. I was so impressed I went back the next day to try a shampooing of of their lunch. I met the brother of the owner and his wife as well as several people that worked
work there.
You will love this Museum but plan on spending some time there as it is a large place with many things to do and many things to see. Call ahead to check for price of admission or you can go to the restaurant and shop in the store if you prefer. There were a lot of children there from a local school having a great time.
The grounds includes many vintage buildings that are a part of Appalachian Historicity set beautifully in this Tennessee valley. There are Ducks, Geese and Peacocks on these grounds that you can walk right up to (but some food for them in the store if you like.
Enjoy!

This is a great place to visit! Be prepared to have several hours to spend there as there is so much you'll want to see and enjoy. My kids loved the peacocks roaming around! There's a lot of nice things in the shop as well. We definitely want to go back so we can eat in the restaurant and walk the grounds again.

Look guys, I travel full time and there are a LOT of pioneer museums out in the world and there is a bit of romanticizing the poor aspect to the whole endeavor, BUT the Museum of Appalachia has a particularly good collection of buildings, including Mark Twain's childhood home, a 1800's log cabin used in the filming of a Daniel Boone show, a huge mill, and loads of cabins and barns.
But I think the best part of the collection is in the very first building, the hall of fame. The original director of the museum collected so many great stories - almost too many to read in one visit. It really brings everything to life and makes the museum stand above the rest.
There's also a small cafe that is very popular with the locals (go early!) and a really lovely gift shop with a lot of fun items, including a whole wall of jellies and fruit butters. Everyone there is super nice, and there are a few animals on property - some free-ranging chickens and peacocks, some goats, miniature horses, and sheep. There's a one-way path through the whole thing so you don't miss anything.
My only complaint is that it's all a bit pricey. Lunch in the cafe of chicken and dressing plus two sides, a slice of good cornbread, and a slice of hummingbird cake was almost $18. (It comes out *very* fast, btw.) The museum itself is $20. (I was told by my hosts that museum admission was free with a meal, but if that was ever true, it's not anymore. Everyone seems to come just to eat.)

Great place to learn some history of the people of Appalachia. People and the way they lived through visuals displays and descriptions of what you are looking at. And Peacocks!

Cannot say enough good things about this place. We attended the July 4th Anvil Shoot. So much fun! Lots of demonstrations by folk artists and historians. Great music; some anvils shot 30+ feet into their air; lots of great historical displays of the area. This was our first visit and will not be our last.

The Independence Day demonstrations and activities were informative and reminiscent of stories from my grandparents, who were born near the Appalachian mountains. It's a living museum, with livestock and gardens and bee's. I went for the Bee keeping demonstration, the folks cancelled, still enjoyed the day with a new neighbor.
Look on the roof...

I wish we had visited sooner after being locals for the last 8 years but I am so glad we finally made it! This was one of, if not, THE best and most interesting museum in the Knoxville area. Even my 4 and 2 yo were interested for 2+ hours. The stories warmed our hearts, the artifacts were fantastic, and the gift shop/staff were so nice. Loved their shop kitties too. 10/10 for us!

One of the best kept secrets of TN. To tour this venue is to literally step back into a period of time when lanterns provided light and fireplaces were the single source of heat. The innovations of the pioneers are on display as cabins are trimmed with authentic pieces from the days of the settlers and carry an almost palettable sense for the history conveyed inside those walls. The gift shop is full of beautiful crafts and serves good food as well.

Good southern cooking. The exhibits are very interesting of local personages who had national and international impacts on politics, music, religion, business, culture. Not wheelchair accessible in most of the outdoor exhibits (gravel paths). Some paved paths to the first 9 of the 31 outdoor exhibits. Looks like a subdivision is being constructed next door which will diminish its rural character.

When I purchased my ticket I thought $18 sounded like a lot for a museum about Appalachia, but boy was I wrong! It was well worth the money. So much to see and do. The exhibits were fascinating, very well done. The walk around the grounds was very relaxing. It felt like I was walking back in time.
The restaurant inside is worth the stop. The food is delicious, homemade served on real dishes. The prices are also very reasonable.

Well worth the admission!
We enjoyed strolling the property and found the building displays filled with what would have been used in their natural habits very interesting.
We visited during Heritage Days, and to our surprise, the grounds were filled with 1200 school kids and parents. At first, we thought, let's pass, then thought, let's go for a little while. Well, three hours later we left completely impressed by the lay of the land, the staff, and the volume of artifacts.

I had no idea this museum and Appalachian village existed. So worth the trip. So much to learn and read I am going to have to come back. Extremely well taken care of..... The grounds and the buildings! They keep the thermostat low in the winter so make sure and wear a good jacket and maybe a hat.

We had a great time at this Smithsonian affiliate museum. Come prepared to spend 3+ hours if you want to see everything and especially if you want to grab a bite to eat in the restaurant. The maps given at the welcome center are helpful in getting around the grounds, and the exhibits are in numerical order along the foot paths. A few of the buildings house permanent exhibits, like the Appalachian Hall of Fame, which highlights different aspects of “old” Appalachian culture like daily life, cooking, music, community, and stories about people. The other buildings are historic ones that have been moved to the Museum of Appalachia, like the cabin of Mark Twain’s parents. There is a nice outdoor seating area near the welcome center with picnic tables and rocking chairs. Some chickens or peacocks might come by to say hi. The restaurant offered typical comfort food from the region like chicken and dumplings, pinto beans, etc. Overall the museum was incredibly informative and very well curated. One of the things I appreciated most was the level of detail put into the descriptions for each artifact displayed, which is not something you find at every museum.

My husband and I had an AMAZING time here! We stopped randomly on our way home from Pigeon Forge, and so glad we did! The staff were super friendly, and the grounds were beautiful. So many great animals & picture spots. Also stop by the gift shop for some lotions, soaps and lip balms from The Naked Bee especially the orange scent they are incredible!!! 💕
The well-maintained Fort Loudoun State Historic Park is a replica of an 18th century British fort and offers trails for hiking, kayaking, and canoeing. The museum contains exhibits on the history of the fort and artefacts from its days as a military outpost. There is also a short video which is worth watching. The staff are friendly and informative.
I have been to Fort Loudoun twice in my life. Once as a young boy I went and had the displeasure of getting caught in the rain and getting quite ill. The second time, is my recent visit with my daughter. We had a fantastic time and enjoyed playing in the sunshine. We explored the Fort and museum soaking in the history of this area. My daughter most enjoyed the museum tent display and all of the different types of cannons that are in the park. The walking is gentle and easy and most areas are stroller accessible which means that with someone pushing them wheelchair bound individuals could visit the Fort and grounds. The historical film is educational but also a little sad just to warn potential viewers. Overall a great place to spend time. Plan to visit again soon.

What a beautiful State Park! Nice well maintained trails, amazing views! What a great way to end a hike down by the water at the Picnic Area! Stop by the Gift Shop get a map, staff informed and polite. A wonderful place to take the family and learn a bit of history. Get out and enjoy nature.

We really enjoyed visiting. The grounds are open to explore. The visitor center has a lot of educational history and artifacts. There are trails to walk and explore. Picnic tables and benches. I wish we had more time to explore that day. We will definitely be visiting again. The restrooms are in the visitor center, and the visitor center closes at 4:30 pm. Donations are encouraged, and it is definitely worth it to keep up this nice place.

This is a great historical state park. I forgot the scale of the British influence in the back country of the young U.S. The French and Indian War, Native Americans, trading, and war. Although the site was rebuilt, the details are great and what is really nice is examples of how the place may have been furnished with barracks bunks, barrels for food, blacksmith and many other buildings full of stuff. Also, there was a ton of trillium flowers blooming. It was a little to early for the may apples

I was expecting the buildings to actually be from the 1700s. But they were rather historically accurate replicas. Still cool, but not as cool as if they had been original.
The museum (Visitor Center) was closed when we arrived, so we didn't get to see that part of the Park. But we did get to experience some of the walking trails. They were very nice, and a pleasure to walk on!
Overall, it was a good experience. I recommend it to anyone, local or tourist, who enjoys history. I certainly enjoyed it!

This dog friendly historical fort is the very best I've ever visited in my life, and my father, a history teacher, dragged me to A LOT of forts in my lifetime. The geography is stunning, the fort itself is beautifully rebuilt according to historical details. You can walk into each building, and get a feel for the quarters and facilities. The interior of the buildings is immaculate and sturdy. All structures are well maintained, the grounds are clean, and the views are gorgeous. Dogs are welcomed and accommodated. The museum is unique, intriguing and features a beautiful collection of artwork and artifacts. The rangers are educative, outgoing, personable, and happily answer any questions. They even let you bring a leashed dog into the museum! I am so thankful for such a lovely interactive experience that my children and dog could enjoy!

Horse trails, walking trails and dog friendly as long as their on a leash and picked up after. Never too crowded and great place to explore or put a hammock up and chill. Loved our stay in the east campground. Plenty of playgrounds for kids to play on, clean bathrooms, nice bath houses, and reasonable prices for primative, improved, or cabins.
The Dam was neat to look at, and the trails were nice with fall colors and great views since the trees are thinning out.

Clean trails. Camped here at West Campground for 2 days. Well worth the money! Very quiet. Bathrooms were really nice with Air Conditioning after the trip to Florida, it was a welcome relief. Beware that some of the sites have steep drops & RV campers really need to be prepared for the switch-back curves. Plenty of trees and cover here, East campground has no trees or cover.

Nice older campground. Campground has two, a east and a west. We stayed in the east. Bathroom was dated but clean. Grounds were clean . Drove through the west and it was packed in preparation of Halloween festivities. Lots of trails and history in the area. Plenty to explore. Would recommend the campground. Would personally recommend the east for larger rigs!

The first thing I noticed is how clean the park and lake were. Almost no litter anywhere. The cabin we stayed in was awesome. The staff was awesome.
1 star removed because none of the museum parts were open. It was the first week of June.
The trails are great. We saw plenty of wildlife and swimming from the boat was amazing.
You can't really access much of the lake unless you are on a watercraft or at their beaches because the banks are pretty much drop offs so if you don't own a boat or plan to rent a boat the lake is a lot less appealing.

Great Trails, beautiful water. If you park right beside the dam there is a little short hike storybook. It is made for kids as you walk the trail you pass pages of the book! Super cute. Once you pass this it connects to several other trails with lovely lake views. The visitor center was very helpful and clean. Lovely park.

Norris Dam State Park is a great place to spend the day enjoying historic buildings and nature. The dam is surrounded by woodlands in the valley and up on top of the cliffs. The Dam was built by CCC personnel, and the remaining pieces of their camps are in the woods. My wife and daughter both seem to enjoy the views and taking picnics and walks inside the park. We have rented a cabin and spent a relaxing 2 days in the park. The beds are comfortable and warm as well as the shower was quite nice. We have visited the grist mill and museum. I enjoy how the museums celebrate the lives of people who farmed and lived in the East Tennessee Valley. Overall, it was a fantastic place to hang out. Hopefully, I will get to return many times for more exploration and adventure.

We enjoyed this campground with all of its history. If you are camping in a bigger rig, the roads to both the east and west campgrounds are tight, winding and steep. There are some low hanging branches. The picnic shelters are super nice with flush toilets and very nice playgrounds. It does appear that there has been some delayed maintenance at the campground. The people that answer the reservation phones are SUPER nice and very helpful, especially Diana who helped us out of the issue we had.

Good place to visit during fall! We visited this place in beginning of October, colors were almost there. I recommend to visit this place by end of October. The colors were good as we go to the top. But, once we crossed TN and entered NC on the top, there were no leaves. So I recommend to start taking the skyway from tellico plains instead of Robinsville, NC.

Super place! The attendant was very knowledgeable and gracious...made us feel right at home. We got a map of the area (Cherohala Skyway) and a brief overview of it. The gift shop had some great looking shirts to buy, but best of all, there were some locally made items to purchase. We selected an item made by a local potter (Mudslingers) that will make a quality, unique gift for a friend. They also have a nice little area for a picnic lunch or snack out front.

Start at the Cherohala Skyway Visitors Centerin Tellico Plains, TN. Absolutely beautiful fall colors!!!! Stay on the TN side for the most color at this time. When crossing over to NC, the trees had lost their leaves or color had passed due to higher elevation as of this writing. Several places to pull over for pictures or picnics at the picnic areas. Be respectful of others as you park or gaze at the beauty so others can also have their turn!!

When we lived in Chicago, people would make a pilgrimage to Michigan each autumn to "see the colors." While quite beautiful, that experience pales in comparison to East Tennessee and the Cherohala Skyway. The drive was blissfully peaceful, and the views breathtaking, spectacular. Y'all probably have one or two weekends left. This is a must see to experience the splendor of God's creation.

Never got a chance to go in. We were greeted in a not welcome way in the parking lot as soon as we pulled in. Was plenty of parking spots open and someone told us right as we pulled into a parking spot and ready to go in if we could move because they were saving room for a trailer. We were there in the morning of 11/5/23. We had never been this way and made it park of our fall drive. This was our first stop coming from 2hr, 40mins away. After we were not greeted so welcome we just left. Maybe don’t stop here on a weekend and only on a week day or only if there is no cars in the parking lot then maybe stop in. Sadly we won’t be back this way.

Beautiful ride in the Miatas! The views are amazing. We went a little too early for the colors on the trees but it is still breath taking. My only complaint was the dual sport bikes passing on double yellow lines! There's a posted speed limit of 40. The car in front of me was doing that and I counted 7 bikes that pasted and squeezed between us and then passed each of us, we were three and the car in front of us made 4. We didn't let it ruin our day though! Still worth the ride! Start in Tellico Plains and end coming across the Dragon! Be sure to wave at the cameras! Have fun and be safe!

I never had the chance to visit the museum in its previous location, however I can reinforce previous reviews that say this museum is very small. It's also hard to tell what age group this museum is catering to. The front half of the museum is very wordy, mature, and packed with information. The back half features many interactive displays obviously geared towards children. It seems like it would make more sense to have more interactive, kid-friendly displays throughout, rather than packed in the back of the museum.
The staff at the museum seemed very friendly and knowledgeable, with some members being long-term residents and/or employees in Oak Ridge with firsthand experience related to the exhibits in the museum. One staff member approached us multiple times to share anecdotes relating to Oak Ridge, which was nice and unexpected!
Overall, I liked the musuem. However, it was small and didn't have as many artifacts and relics as I had hoped. Unfortunately there were a lot of exhibits that only had paragraphs on the wall to read and didn't include the physical objects that really catch your eye and hold your interest.
If you're looking for a museum exclusively relating to Oak Ridge or the Manhattan Project, I think the K-25 History Center down the road is slightly better, as it's roughly the same size and manages to pack more information and more artifacts into the museum. But if you're in the area and looking for things to do, it can't hurt to visit both as they both have their strengths and weaknesses!
Jacob Boissonnault — Google review
Incredibly small, but the fee for entry isn't terrible at $10.00. You could absolutely see everything they have here in less than one hour. There are not a lot of actual relics, but they have a wide variety of 3D printed replicas of items of interest. Weekdays are full of school field trips so be prepared for a bit of noise if you visit during those times.

Super nice and clean little place. The activity areas were nice (although some things were broken). The portions about the history of Oak Ridge and the atom bomb were interesting, but honestly, nowhere near as good as the old museum. My kids missed seeing all of the bombs that used to be there. They would love to go back however.

The American Museum of Science and Energy is a fantastic place that is just jam packed with information, displays, and interactive features throughout - all related to science and energy contributions that the Oak Ridge National Laboratory were instrumental in making. The amount of information will keep you there for a couple of hours, and there are some games and such in the back that could keep you there longer. It's relatively inexpensive and well worth the admission price. Staff are very friendly and knowledgeable. I'd highly recommend this museum.

A neat and fun place to learn about nuclear energy and science. Several good hands on exhibit options.
You won’t be bored and will learn and have fun at the same time. Fascinating and informative video worth viewing. Learn about nuclear submarines and neutron detectors, and have some fun with Archimedes Screws. Learn more about the Secret City and life during WWII.
Exhibits are well laid out, and a lot of time and money was put into this museum and it shows. Gift shop has all sorts of interesting items for sale as well, most reasonably priced. Bring in a few quarters to play the pinball machine. See an entire Army Jeep completely made on a 3D printer (how did they even do that?) as well as a small car and an old robot. Such a unique mix of items that will keep you entertained as you explore the museum. Don’t let the fact that it is at the end of a mall fool you. This place is large and has something for everyone and very reasonably priced to enter. Even if passing through at least put this museum on your list.

An excellent museum in the heart of Oak Ridge
Oak Ridge has a rich history steeped in science and helping to build the atomic bomb and win WWII
The Oak Ridge Museum of Science and Energy is a captivating destination that offers a fascinating glimpse into the rich history and groundbreaking scientific advancements of Oak Ridge, Tennessee. The museum provides an engaging and educational experience for visitors of all ages. Knowledgeable and friendly staff members are readily available to answer questions and provide additional information, ensuring a fulfilling visit.
Overall, the Oak Ridge Museum of Science and Energy is a must-visit attraction for those interested in the history of science and technology.

I found this place to be kind of goofy. It is part Children's Museum part National Park Service. Your park pass is no good here and I wasn't interested in paying for a Children's Museum. I really wanted to see the prefab house they have that housed Oak Ridge workers during World War II, but was not open for visitation. So I walked next door to Highland Park went to the back and took a picture from there.

Entertaining for kids but definitely showing its age. The building dates back to the 1940s and was a school back then. Plenty for kids to engage with but more play than learn--not that that's a bad thing. The colocation with the Manhattan Project National Historical Park visitor center (TN) adds an extra level of interest for history buffs. Even so, while interesting, it's nothing to write home about. Picky's Recommendation: If nice outside, enjoy the sunshine and visit here on a rainy day (which is what we did).

A great place for kids and parents in Oak Ridge.
Oak Ridge has a rich history from its WWII starts as a secret city. You can find maps of the various sites to visit at several locations throughout the city. We picked up one of these and the Children’s Museum was one of the first and closest places that we came across. It is in the heart of Oak Ridge and is a true haven for kids eager to explore, learn, and have a blast. The entrance has a foyer where you are greeted by staff that offer suggestions and collect a fee to visit the museum. This is really designed for kids so adults may find few parts of it as interesting as the children will. The museum's interactive exhibits are very nice and are designed to provide children with hands-on experiences that engage all their senses and show a history of the area. From the fascinating Science Lab, where budding scientists can conduct experiments, to the colorful Arts and Crafts Corner, where creativity flows freely, every corner of the museum offers a unique experience. The museum does a very good job of incorporating education into the exhibits. The exhibits focused on STEM fields, history, and nature, children can broaden their knowledge while having a fantastic time. In conclusion, the Children's Museum of Oak Ridge is a gem in the realm of interactive exhibits. If you have children this is probably a good place to visit.

This place just keeps going and going! We went with our 2 and almost-4 year olds and they had a blast. Lots of fun exhibits, both educational and play based. Our favorites were the life-sized doll house, the spaceship to mars, and the farm-to-table play area. This is very reasonably priced for how long you could spend here. Also, if you have a national parks passport book, bring it for some stamps at the front desk from the Manhattan Project info desk.

Nice little museum. Not somewhere I’d travel hours to go see, but if you’re nearby, it’s certainly worth a trip. Great place for kids but a lot to learn as an adult as well. Would highly recommend!
Lost Sea Adventure is a cave tour and boat trip attraction that offers visitors an underground lake to explore. The cave network is well-maintained and the guides are knowledgeable about the formations, making for an interesting experience. The walk up is not too bad and the tour offers stops for breathers, which makes it more comfortable for those who are not used to walking long distances. The boat ride is also very cool and something not often seen in tourist attractions.
Nice to place to explore some cave spots. The guided tours were awesome with lots of information. Don't miss the lake ride under the caves. Claustrophobic need to avoid this. Visited the place en route from Atlanta to Smoky Mountain. A good stop with rest and a visit. Water proof shoes/boots are recommended for the visit.
For the guides: Provide required time for people across all age. Felt being rushed which restricts the time to enjoy the awesomeness of the place.

A very unique place to visit with a colorful history. The boat ride onto the lake is definitely the highlight of the tour and what anyone really goes there to do. Cave system over all was a lot smaller than expected and shorter than others I've been to unless you pay more to do the wild tour. Still an enjoyable way to spend an hour and worth a visit.
Jeremy Baughman — Google review
Tour: This cavern has the cool distinction of being America's largest underground lake. The tour lasts about an hour and a half, and your guide tells you about its history. Most of the tour is on uneven terrain through the cavern, and there are some inclines. There are lights everywhere, but it's a cavern, so it has low lighting. The boat ride was too brief, but I otherwise loved it. It was such a tranquil experience. The water is calm and still, and the fish were fascinating. Our tour guide was funny, but it was difficult to hear him at the back of the group, and he kept a fast pace through the tour. You couldn't spend much time stopping and enjoying the amazing cave features. I wish they gave you more time for the tour, but otherwise, a great experience.
Restrooms: Their restroom building was under construction when we did the tour, but they had a restroom trailer that was very nice, clean, and well-kept.

Lovely cave and boat experience. Clean facility and great guides. It didn't feel as over commercialized as Ruby Falls, so that was a nice touch. Loved the addition of artists like the glass blower and the gem panning as well.

This was an amazing experience! Our tour guide, Angela, was very knowledgeable and answered all of our questions. The hike back up was no joke! But there are benches that the guides will let you rest on. Very open spaced for those who are claustrophobic.

What a cool experience! Very cool cave with really neat features I haven’t seen anywhere else but the crowning achievement is the lake. It is beautiful and well lit. The walking is a bit steep so this may be one to sit out if you might have trouble with something like that but it wasn’t hard for me or any of my children.

Great tour to take if you are looking for a cave tour. Casey and Ashley were excellent tour guides that knew a lot about the formations and answered all of your questions. The walk up had a decent grade at parts but not too bad. They do stop for a couple of breathers on the way up to give you a spot to catch your breath. Overall not too bad of a walk and highly recommend. The boat ride was really cool and not something you commonly get to do. Will definitely have to come back some time for their spelunking tour.

As a local to Tennessee we have never visited these caves until today. We had age group 11-73 and we all had a great experience. The online booking was a breeze and so was the check in process.
Our guide for today was Shay (I hope this is her name) and she was amazing. She was so friendly and her sense of humor was great, actually amazing.
The walk down was pretty easy but the walk back up is pretty difficult for older people. It’s the incline that was tough for my mom and others I saw that had to stop numerous times.
The lake at the bottom is absolutely beautiful and so peaceful down there. The water is crystal clear.
I would definitely recommend.

I really enjoyed this adventure! The cave is so rich in history and beautiful. The lake was my favorite. I will definitely be doing this again. This cave is so big. You will get a good walk inside but not too strenuous. The guide stopped frequently so there’s plenty time to rest. Have fun!

For those like me who didn't know, you take a tour with a small hike through a nice cool cave to a small boat ride then back. We got Angela and her "twin" as our tour guides and they both made sure that we had a good time. They have a small glass blower shop filled with beautiful hand blown customizable items, gift shop, and an ice cream shop that was closed at the time we went.

We had a great time today. You want to have a great tour ask for Skyler. He is very informative and funny. Keeps the tour interesting. Definitely wear non skid shoes. Certain places were slippery. We liked the glass blowing place. Lots of beautiful items to purchase. The general store wasn't to impressed. A lot of the same thing and their mining bags were a little pricey. We were looking forward to the ice cream shop but it was closed. Not much else to do which was kinda a bummer.

We have driven past the signs on I75 for this place for years and finally stopped to check it out. It is amazing! Well worth checking out. Skyler, our tour guide, did an amazing job. The boat ride on the underground lake is really cool.
Note: the walk down to the lake is a little steep and slippery. You can sit out that part, but then you miss the boat ride.

What a fabulous place to visit. Very intriguing and had an excellent guide. No stairs anywhere all ramps so it's easy to walk with rest benches along the way. Highly recommend, njoy the trip.

The kids truly enjoyed it. The guided tour greatly enhanced our experience, and we learned a lot from our guide, Emma, who is both funny and knowledgeable. We visited during the kids’ spring break, and many time slots were sold out. I recommend purchasing tickets in advance during peak seasons.

Just happened to see a sign and decided to detour and check it out. What a unique and fun experience! It’s quite a hike once you get started but if you’re able to walk inclines, you’ll be fine. Our guide Devin was fun and very well informed on the cave history etc. and the lake was amazing. If you’re passing through and have a couple hours to kill, go for it.

We had a blast at the Lost Sea! It's mostly a walking tour that takes about an hour and a half. The boat ride was 10 or 15 minutes at the end and there was a long climb back to the entrance of the cave. The cave is huge! Very cool! My kids are 5, 6, and 10 and all three had a ton of fun being in the cave. Be warned: if your kids are like mine, they'll get to the bottom of the cave and realize they need the bathroom...

This was a great tour. Excellent your guides (ours was Laura- she was fantastic!) with lots of information. All the different rooms and levels were accessed by ramps, no stairs. Slippery in some spots, but fun. Definitely worth it!

I homeschool my 8 and 12 year old, and used this as a fun learning field trip. It was more touristy and busy than I had anticipated, but it didn't turn out to be a problem. The cave is impressive, and although I've lived in east TN for 15 years, I had never visited before. The tour guide was funny, well-spoken, and obviously knowledgeable on his facts. It kept adults and kids of various ages interested. I took a few notes in my phone while we toured and gave a little quiz to my kids after, and they both retained the information and enjoyed the adventure. The only heads up I wish I knew was the amount of walking on hills required. The walk down to the water they equate to a 7-story building in terms of grade difference. I'm a few months post partial knee-replacement, and although I was worried about the walking, I did just fine. Do wear grippy shoes though as the floors are worn smooth and would have been a bit slippery IMO without good sneakers. After the tour, I purchased a bag of rocks in the gift shop for the panning experience just because my kids had never done anything like that before. It was touristy, but fun for them. We have their treasures in the rock tumbler now.

This was such a beautiful experience! Our guide was informative and fun. The walk down into the cave and to the lake was breathtaking, especially if you love nature. The walk back up is no joke! Be prepared. Also, make sure you wear comfortable shoes. Specifically, ones you don't really care about. The red clay can and will destroy them.

Our tour guide, Eli, did a fantastic job showing us around the cave and telling us really interesting stories about its history. On the surface, there is also a very impressive glass blowing/works studio. Even though the site is pretty rural, there are nice big signs indicating where it is. We went in the fall, but this seems like a nice outing for ANY season.

Had a great guide named Skyler, he was young but very funny and knowledgeable, he answered any question we had about the cave, I was very impressed with him. The cave and underground lake were beautiful. The walk is moderate in places, the incline is equivalent to seven sets of stairs; up and down, so be aware. Also, because of the red clay, your shoes will get a bit stained. Totally worth it.

Anytime you have a chance to go into the earth, take it! Of course, if it's safe. This place is amazing as I'm sure many are. You take a little boat ride, walk about a mile in total and they even have expert level caves to explore outside of the guided tour.

I loved this place. Our guide, JD, was awesome and super knowledgeable! The boats are awesome and I would say this is an all around activity that is good for young children to adults! I would say the only hesitation is that you have to walk all the way to the bottom and then all the way back up and that is a bit tricky if you have mobility issues. Had a blast and will be coming again if we have more family in town!
Always enjoy going there. It was nice and relaxing just spending some time with my son and eating ice cream. I hope the tours start back soon.

Neat 30 min tour of the factory. Saw them making the milk cartons and packaging the milk and labeling the cartons. Had strong smell of buttermilk and chemicals, but otherwise fine. Had to wear hair nets. No photographs allowed inside the factory.
Had a decent scoop of ice cream after.

We stopped for a quick dairy tour and dessert pit stop. Tours include ice cream with paid admission of $4.50 Adults and $3.50 children... tours are on the hour and lasting 45 minutes. The staff we encountered hardly smiled and was not overly friendly... not sure if they were having an off day. (minus the 1 star) otherwise it was worth the stop. Unfortunately no photography is allowed while on tour. On the way out we did encounter a fairly young staff member that went out of her way to say thank you for coming today and come back and see them! Also inquired if we enjoyed the tour and desserts...

Quality is usually what comes to mind when someone mentions Mayfield. Unfortunately quality is NOT how the tour started. While the tour is sufficient and complete it seems dated. The projection screen in the theatre needs repair. Some displays are faded and also apear dated. The only things that seem to have been updated are the gift shop and ice cream parlor.
The tour guide was knowledgeable and efficient. She was good. The main problem is with the dated, worn-out pre-tour facilities. Fortunately the ice-cream IS still quality and very delicious!
I WANTED to give 5 stars, but could not honestly do so. The dairy has changed ownership in recent years and unfortunately the tour no longer appears to be a priority. DFA (Dairy Farmers of America) acquired Mayfield in March, 2020.
Bring back Scottie Mayfield!

Temporarily Closed as of 02/13/2021 but unfortunately they do not have any information posted on any of their public contact site. We took the drive out just to verify since we had previously taken the tour and wanted to share the cool experience with friends who had not. Definitely worth it if they ever resume the tours. Otherwise it's still a scenic area of Tennessee to visit.

This place was pretty cool! We went on the tour. They show you how to make ice cream and milk. They serve a free scoop of ice cream as well. The ice cream was delicious. They don't let you take pictures or videos whilst touring for privacy reasons which is understandable. I took a few pictures of the gift shop and the outside. Definitely worth going if you're in the area.

24,000-acre park with a scenic observation deck, dense forest areas, hiking & tent campsites.
This is such a beautiful and well-maintained park. We stayed at Big Cove site 12 which has a nice large wooded area behind it. There are a wide variety of trails ranging from easy to difficult. It offers pretty much everything that GSMNP does without the large crowds. On most hikes, we only saw 10 to 15 people.

Absolutely loved this place...my whole family of 9, with a 10 person tent, an 8 person tent and a 3 person tent all fit on one campsite. We had a blast walking the trails, seeing the waterfalls...the campsite has a fire ring and a grill on them, so all you have to do is bring food to cook. The shower rooms/bathrooms were very clean. All the kids loved the playground as well as the creeks they could walk to. It was a great weekend get away for my little family. We definitely plan to go back very soon. Just FYI, cell service is not the best up there, I didn't mind at all getting a break from my cell. 😊

I went hiking to the waterfalls, and there are several very nice waterfalls that are not as talked about on the way. The flowers in this park are phenomenal during springtime. Did a hike up the Chimney Top trail starting at the ranger station. Spent one night at the beautiful Mart Fields Campsite. The trail is labeled difficult, which is very accurate, but a beautiful hike nonetheless. There was a rattlesnake on the trail between the chimneys, keep a sharp eye. Campsite was clean and quiet. There is a spring nearby, but it is seasonal and didn't yield much water this trip. Day 2 hiked down the Spicewood Trail, very shaded in the morning.
I checked in with the rangers prior to heading out, got some good information about the trails and the status of water sources.

Wonderful state park. The visitors center is nice with clean bathrooms and the park rangers were helpful. The drive out to the park is relaxing and scenic in most places. Went on a guided backpacking trip with Park Ranger Lydia and it was the best experience! There are many trails to chose from with varying distances and many water crossings this time of year.
There is not a lot of parking, but there are bathrooms at the visitor's center and trailheads.

Hiked a 6.5 mile loop. Took us 3.5 hrs, 1006 elevation gain, 19,000 steps. We planned the hike after a big rain so we could see waterfalls during our hike. It did not disappoint. Parked at the north Old Mac trailhead but walked 1 mile on the park road to the Panther Creek and Old Mac campsite trailhead. Headed up to Debord falls then right on a connecting trail to the north Old Mac trail, then down to our vehicle. Many water crossings. Saw wild Javelina hogs (2 adults and about 12 young ones) rooting. They ran away when they saw us. Excellent January 26th hike. Around 50° overcast.

This park was absolutely beautiful. The sites are close together, so not much privacy, but the bathrooms with showers were exceptionally clean, and the surroundings are so beautiful they'll take your breath away. There were several hiking trails available, though we weren't able to take advantage of them since we stayed only one night. The rangers patrolled a few times and were very friendly to talk with. Camp was completely quiet after hours. Very dog friendly. There were picnic tables scattered all over the place on the road in, a playground, and a volleyball court as well. I highly recommend this park! Oh, don't be surprised.. there is a prison you'll pass on the way in, but we didn't feel uncomfortable at all.

Emory Gap hike starts at the Panther Branch trailhead. At about a mile'ish, Panther Branch goes right and Emory Gap starts. Great hike, easy and slightly elevated. Follows the creek for most of the way and is fully under the tree canopy. There are areas to stop and get wet if you desire. The State Park office was very clean and the staff member we spoke with, very helpful. Pick up a trail map at the desk. Has better trail markings than the basic one in the hallway of the office. I did a walk to the homestead. Not much there but a wooden fence. There are information boards with pictures and info about the people that lived. I enjoyed reading a bit of history for that area. What we did get to see of this place was really cool, but I think one would benefit more from doing the guided tour than the self guided one. The self guided tour was a little confusing. We got lost quite a few times, and were limited to only seeing the outsides of many of the buildings since we were only doing the self guided tour. We did however, get to go into the printing press building and got to see a really cool demo of how newspapers were printed in the 1800s. If we go here again, we’ll definitely do the guided tour to really get the full experience of the place.
Campsites, hiking trails & picnic pavilions around a lake with a Jack Nicklaus-designed golf course.
We stayed in one of their standard cabins in May and were surprised how quiet the park was even on a Sunday. The cabin is rustic just a few steps up from camping but has nice little details like a fireplace, bathroom and kitchen but I would recommend you bring a thicker blanket cause theirs are rather thin. The park itself is well kept and beautiful. Nice trails and on-site restaurant with fantastic southern food and hospitality. We will definitely be coming back in the future.

This is actually my second visit to the park. I really like this place because it's very serene and just so beautiful in nature and the best part is the viaduct bridge between the lake and waterfall. I was alone but this is a place best shared with the company of others. The Harvest restaurant is really a great place to dine especially with the view of the lake. Great place for camping as well. People also swim here as well. There's a visitor center when you drive in to provide information.

Our 1st trip was 2022 camping and loved this state park. January 2023, we stayed at one of the restored CCC cabins. Very quaint and nice. The only complaint with the cabin (#2) is the fireplace. No matter how you started the fire it would smoke up the cabin unless you used basically 1 log in the very back of the fireplace. Love the trails and everything else about Cumberland Mountain State Park!

Stayed at Cumberland Mountain with my wife’s extended family over Christmas week. The cabins were of a good size and comfortable, yet were in need of updates. The facilities like the tennis courts and basketball courts look like they haven’t been touched in 30 years too. Although it’s a state park, it’s not far from the grocery stores and restaurants in nearby Crossville. Hiking wise, it’s not really a ‘mountain’, but instead a little river/stream ravine that’s dammed into a manmade lake. I did the loop trail that followed the ravine and there were some interesting rock formations along the way. Aside from that, it’s not scenic like Fall Creek Falls or the mountains in the eastern part of the state.

We have been here a few times now and we love it. It is a nice peaceful place with lots of activities even though we were there in what would be considered the off season.
We stayed in the Mill House for a couple of days. It is a nice rustic place with lots of space. It would be a good place for families. It is a bit challenging for people who have a hard time with stairs, however. There is really no way into the Mill Hose without descending stairs and there are stairs inside as well.
It is a great place to be away from others, though, since you have a whole little section of the park to yourselves and a great patio view ( and out the windows) of the waterfall.
We will definitely be back to stay.

A lovely campsite. Everything is easy to find and depending on the campsite it's easy to walk to most of the main attractions and the camp store. The aviary is also a plus. There are plenty of great areas for pictures and firewood is very reasonably priced if you accidentally didn't bring enough. There were also plenty of fallen trees and branches to keep a fire going. The bathrooms were about what you'd expect from a state park, but not nearly as bad as a lot of the ones I've been to. It's not so much dirty as just old. It would be nice if more funds were allocated to update the bathrooms at state parks. My only complaint is that the restaurant buffet is really not phenomenal. For roughly the same price as golden corral the options are much more limited and not quite as good. The staff on the other hand is cheerful and helpful and no fault could be found in them.

Cabins are great very comfortable and warm on the colder days. The bedrooms are nice and the bathrooms are clean the only reason my review isn’t five stars is because the kitchens are a little outdated and aren’t the cabin I’m staying in has knives but they aren’t sharp and there is no sharpener and there’s no cutting board the stove is so old you set the temperature with a dial. And the plastic cooking utensils are melted and in need of replacement and lastly the right burner of our stove doesn’t work and they said they would send maintenance to fix it at 8 am the day after we got there and at the time I’m writing this it’s been 38 hours since they were supposed to come and they haven’t. There’s more good and mildly Annoying things I can say but for the sake of time I won’t overall a great place and worth a road trip

We camped here for one night in late November for one night. We came in without reservations and having arrived early, were able to register at the office before proceeding to our site. The first site that we were given was a somewhat difficult site to get into and the office was gracious enough to change our site to one that was an easy back in. It offered water and electric, but no sewer. What looked like sewer connection was the water shut off valve. There were some sites, but not many that offered sewer. Our site, 40, had some privacy on the driver’s side. The sites were generally close together, but at this time of year with with few campers, this was not an issue. There were site options available that had more privacy given where they were situated, but for us it did not matter. We had a nice fire here courtesy of another campers leftover wood. The site had a fire pit with grill, a BBQ grill, lantern pole and picnic table. We checked out the bathrooms, which were the nicest of any of the TN state parks we visited. They appeared to be more recently remodeled. The cell service was weak, but we were able to use at times. We have been to this park in the past to golf and to visit Homestead buildings. I would definitely return when it is better golfing weather. And to check out the restaurant.

This is a beautiful state park with nice walking/hiking trails and historic stone buildings. My favorite trail is the Pioneer trail. The long loop is about 4 miles and the short loop is 2 miles. There is a suspension bridge you can cross half way through the long loop (for the short loop option). The trail is easy to hike, but it has rocks and tree roots along the path. The rock formations, streams, and small bridges create a scenic walk. (If you prefer a paved path, there is a scenic short loop around Byrd Lake that is ADA accessible). There is a nice gift shop, aviary, and restaurant to check out as well. This park is an amazing place to go hiking, walking, birding, or kayaking.

Went for a day trip was very pleased with the park. Even though we didn't stay in the cabins we are considering going back for a stay. If you wanted some r& r this would be a great place. There are plenty of places to eat in nearby Crossville.

Stayed in a class-c RV in campground 1 site #10 March 2024. This campground is great if you enjoy cramped, seriously unlevel sites. I used every leveling block I had and still couldn't level front-to-back, plus I spoke to many other campers with the same problem. I will not stay here again.

Really enjoy staying at cabins and walking around the park. They do a great job decorating the bridge around Christmas time. The reflection in the water is beautiful to see. Fourth time staying in 3 different types of cabins. Duplex was prob the most comfortable. Many need some updating.

Always a wonderful stay. First time staying in one of the cabins, great for a small group, miss the back country site though. Homestead Harvest Restaurant was amazing as usual.

Excellent park. I have camped here many times. The park is well run and the employees are always friendly.
This little gem is tucked in the beautiful landscape of East-Mid Tennessee. It’s between Knoxville and Nashville. The charming & rustic playhouse doesn’t do justice to the quality of the actors and stellar performances. We just saw “Murder on the Orient Express” and it exceeded expectations. Not only was the acting superb, the set designs and changes of scenery were impressive. All of the volunteers and staff there were so nice, welcoming and kind. The prices are very reasonable, with an average ticket price at $35.
(And while the bathrooms are a bit dated, they are very clean and have a second ladies room inside the theater.) While waiting for the show to begin, walk around the side and relax in the darling gazebo. We grabbed the schedule for year and plan to return. Plus there are free outdoor concerts in the summer!

This playhouse has been around for 57 years and is a regional favorite. They toughed out covid and are as successful as ever. On our visit, they featured Margaritaville. We got an opportunity to have our pictures taken with the cast. Pictures could not be taken of the play, but could of the facility.
This year, we attended the opening of All Shookup... A Musical Comedy. It was loosely based on Elvis featuring his hits. It was the funniest play I've seen in a while. It was well choreographed and performed. The Playhouse does a fantastic job with its performances. It continues to win grants and special funding and accolades from multiple sources. It is well supported by local business and arts enthusiasts. I recommend Cumberland County Playhouse for Arts first-timers and veterans.

It's been years since I've been here but it is one of the best childhood memories that I have. Most may not remember Marion Sullivan's niece who used to follow her wherever she went but my favorite memories of hanging out with her was during rehearsals.
I miss everyone one I met during rehearsals and that one acting camp I did that one summer!!! Everyone was always so happy and full of joy even when multiple runs had to be done of the same set. Hopefully soon I'll return until then I hope that you all have an amazing year!!!

We were looking forward to a family friendly comedy. Instead we heard a mom telling her daughter to live with several men to try them out. What awful advice for our young people.
Several incidents of drunkenness. It could have been a really cute and funny play if the subject matter had been given a little more thought

My husband Ray and I attended a performance of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory this afternoon at the playhouse and the show was phenomenal! It was obvious that the cast was well versed on the script and had put forth great effort and many hours of rehearsal to perform a play that was attended by a sold out crowd! We have attended plays in the past and will continue to attend well into the future. Thank you, Cumberland County Playhouse for having us today!

Saw an amazing show in Scrooge! The playhouse is set in the hills of Middle Tennessee and you might think that they couldn't get good talent in there but they are fantastic. Jason Ross played Scrooge and was a joy to watch! Seating is a little tight as it is an older style theater. However, if you've never been, you need to check out the Cumberland County Playhouse!

My husband and I saw "White Christmas" today. It was absolutely WONDERFUL! I LOVED this performance! The actors were SO TALENTED and energetic! When the old man Hank found out about the surprise, his words made me cry. If this play comes back next Christmas, I will be there to see it!🥰👍

Went to Cumberland County Playhouse and seen Little Shop of Horrors. I had a blast! Cast was great, and you could tell all the hard work they put into it. I would highly recommend checking this play out before it ends.

My wife and I bring 7-10 kids with us each time we go. Normally a group of 10-16 of us. We have seen elf, the best Christmas pageant ever, young frankenstine, little shop of horrors, junie b jones, Charlie and the chocolate factory. They do a great job and always impress for a regional play house we love going and supporting them. Looking forward to our trips next year as soon as they post new line up.

Just got back from seeing the production of Charlie and the Chocolate factory. I’m so impressed with this show, especially Jason as Willy Wonka. His singing of Pure Imagination in the factory seen, took me back to my childhood, thinking of Gene Wilder performing. The whole troupe does a wonderful job, I highly recommend everyone see this production, you will not be disappointed.
Fall Creek Falls is a stunning 256-ft waterfall located in a forest, offering an overlook with a trail leading down to its plunge pool. As one of the most popular state parks in Tennessee, Fall Creek Falls State Park is a must-visit for nature enthusiasts. The park features waterfalls, virgin hardwood stands, gorges, cascades, and streams. Visitors can enjoy activities such as swimming at the waterfall, crossing suspension bridges, and camping under the stars.
Hands down one of my favorite hikes in TN. The waterfall is STUNNING. The walk to get to the bottom is a lot of stairs, but you don't have to walk down to enjoy the waterfall. (I still recommend it.) The scenic overlook point is a spectacular view, and usually a very quiet spot. Highly recommend.
Deborah Kangas — Google review
The hike to the bottom does require some maneuvering among rocks but the trek up is harder than the path down. Gorgeous views at the top before the hike down.

Frome the moment you enter the park it is a beautiful place to visit. The trails and the water falls are amazing. The trail heads are all drivable. Once there get out and take an amazing trip though the woods. There will be different points throughout the forest to be able to see different water falls and different views of the water falls. All of the trails are marked and are easy to navigate. Once your done you can go back to the snack shack and have an awesome lunch . Very nice place to go with family and friends.

Nice experience hahaha. It's up to you if you want to take a quick shower in the waterfall or swim there you are free to do that. Not to much to say, so, as a outdoor little adventure and I can recommend this place but if you are looking for something extreme this is not the right place to do that . have fun :)

FCF is one of the must visit falls in Tennessee! Amazing view and equally interesting hike to the base of the falls, and it's all worth it!
There is ample parking at the falls overlook spot and clear signs and directions to descent to the base.
There are a lot of hiking spots to and from the falls overlook area to Nature Center and / or FCF visitor center.
Highly recommend!

We’ve lived in the cookeville area for 3 years now. We’ve been to basically all the parks, falls and outdoor sites to see…my one question is…HOW HAVE WE NOT BEEN HERE BEFORE NOW?!?😂. This place is amazing. It’s so big, there are SO many different amenities, places to go, trails to hike, waterfalls to see, a lake, a pool…the list is so long. Not to mention if you come a few days after a heavy rain, the falls are INTENSE. When you get down to the bottom pool, the wind and power blasting you from the falling water is crazy refreshing. The hike to the bottom of the falls is short in distance, but takes a while because of the difficulty. There is no real path, your climbing on and over rocks the whole way up and down. But the trip there is scattered with a stream, massive rock outcroppings, overhangs, just pure beauty. The cafe at the park is kinda pricey for cafeteria food, but it’s a nice place to rest and refuel. They also have ice cream. We were only here for a few hours, and barely scratched the surface. This is our new go to local park. We will be sure to camp here and uncover everything it has to offer!

I ran the Falls Creek Falls 50K trail race here a few years ago and it's really a beautiful state park. The trails were great. Wonderful waterfalls and cabins on the lake with great views.

We enjoyed hiking here. The trail was rugged and some overlooks required scrambling but we had 4 kids ages 3 to 11 and they hiked the whole (the 3yo was carried a bit).
The park has some storm damage and there were several trees down on the paved multipurpose trail. Climb under walk around. It made the trail a little more fun in my opinion.

Absolutely beautiful fall! The hike down was over slippery rocks and steep stairs, but I did it in Crocs just fine. Coming back up, my legs were on fire!! It is absolutely worth it.. will be back! Plenty of parking. Lots of trails. Also bike paths.

Beautiful waterfalls. I found it one day chasing waterfalls seeing how there are so many in this area and tennessee. I got here towards the end of the day so I will be happy to go back and hike the trail down to the basin.
Teresa Rufener — Google review
The best falls at this park for sure. Just drive straight all the way from the park entrance to get to the Falls creek falls overlook area. There is a restroom on the left side. Walk past this to get to the overlook. The view from here is awesome if its not foggy. From here, the hike to the bottom of the falls is a steep descend. It is 0.4 miles to the bottom of the hike. It is marked “strenuous” because of the slippery steps, tree roots and boulders you have to get through. But take your time, and you will be fine. I took 20 mins to get to the bottom. Once you get to the bottom, the views are just stunning! You can swim at the bottom, or stand directly under the falls. There is also a few hiking trails from the bottom of the falls but i didn’t do it. The climb back is obviously harder, and just takes a lil more time. YOU CAN DO IT!

Fall Creek Falls State Park
State park
Nature & Parks
Parks
Vast recreation area with a lodge, camping & a restaurant, plus an 18-hole championship golf course.
This park was BEAUTIFUL and well worth the multi-state drive it took to visit. From multiple, breathtaking waterfalls and rock formations to swinging suspension bridges and delicious takeout from their lakeside restaurant, this state park is now among our favorites in the Eastern United States. There were handicap accessible views of both main waterfalls, conveniently located (and clean) bathrooms, well posted and maintained hiking trails, and various picnic areas. There were several other available activities in the area as well, but we didn't have the time to experience those. (We chose to stay about an hour away in a historic cabin at Cumberland Mountain state park to save money). We can't wait to return and see the falls here again!

I recently had the opportunity to visit Fall Creek Waterfall State Park, and I must say, it was an incredible experience! One of the most remarkable aspects of this park is that it's absolutely free to enter. Upon arrival, we embarked on the woodland trail, which led us to the base of the falls. Although it presented a moderate challenge, it was definitely manageable for my family, who are used to the city lifestyle. The effort was entirely worthwhile, as the sight of the falls was breathtakingly beautiful. I highly recommend wearing water shoes. My kids were particularly thrilled with the opportunity to play in the waterfall near the nature center, creating memories they'll cherish for a long time. One of the highlights of the park is its numerous waterfalls and trails, which are suitable for both kids and avid hikers. It provides a perfect opportunity to introduce children to the wonders of nature while challenging experienced hikers to explore new paths.

Great state park! The woman at the counter of the gift shop was knowledgeable and personable. The shop was fine and had a few things to see inside. The gems, of course, are the waterfalls. Some of the overlooks aren't that great. But the waterfalls were amazing. And if you don't mind some stairs the very strenuous section that gets you to the bottom of the big waterfall is worth it (it isn't THAT strenuous but you can't be terribly out of shape - it's essentially like going down and back up 10-15 flights of stairs that aren't well made).

Highly recommend! Get outta that car and hit the trails! So worth every moment! The nature is beautiful the trails are well kept! Lots of fun for the whole family! The restaurant has an attentive staff and very friendly. And not highly expensive. Enjoy nature!

Fantastic state park with five beautiful waterfalls along very accessible trails or observation decks.... for all levels of fitness! We made the two and a half hour drive from Huntsville for the day and absolutely loved all the hiking, playground and very well kept state park areas. It was well worth the visit, and top of our parks list. We hope to return in the summer for more water activities and camping.

Absolutely beautiful park! Have traveled here twice, May 21 and May 22. There's a handful of trails of varying length and difficulty- all are worth it!! Lots of waterfalls and rock formations throughout the park. Lots of rocky stairs down to the base of the main waterfall- definitely a workout and should not be attempted in poor health but so worth it! One of my favorite parks of all time.

I absolutely love that Tennessee parks are free. What a wonderful way to be able to experience the great outdoors. We really enjoyed the snack shop and the visitor center was very informative! We hiked the woodland trail and the base of the falls. The base of Fall Creek Falls was strenuous but doable for an urban family and completely worth it. I recommend water shoes if you're wanting to explore the waterfalls. My kids loved playing in the waterfall behind the nature center. There was a golf course, a pool, snack shop, restaurant and many campgrounds as well. We will be back to try out camping, what a wonderful park!!!

Beautiful place with incredible views. Small trails that take you to a huge waterfall with crystal clear water and a lot of peace. You can cross an extremely safe movable bridge. (from there you also have an incredible view) free and secure parking, market store to taste, restaurant, goal field, camping area overlooking the lake, and goal field. incredible! This beautiful place is just 2 hours from Nashville, you will enjoy the road

One of Tennessee's top state parks. Beautiful water falls. Good swimming areas. Hiking trails are short but some have strenuous portions. Beware of slick rocks.
Visitors Center has little to offer. Better stop is the Nature Center with its suspension bridge and overlook.

One of the best places to visit in TN. You won’t find many more beautiful places to Covid in TN than FCF. My wife and I have been going there multiple times a year for over 30 years. We camp, golf, fish, hike, bike, swim, play pickle ball, nap, kayak & this year we did their lake nature tour. Great for the whole family and they’ve recently completed the new lodge and welcome center and they’re amazing. You should definitely plan to spend a few days but a day trip is totally worth it as well.

Really nice park. The storms had knocked down a lot of trees and they have been quick to clean it up. We really like the area and the amenities here. The only downside is side is the spot we have in camping area C #132 is really steep. If you get this spot bring extra leveling supplies. We had to get creative to make it work. The spot is pretty narrow with some trees close to the paved entrance.

Beautiful area for hiking and suitable for all fitness levels. Dog friendly, and you can customize your day easily around each waterfall you want to see. We did around 5 different short 1 mile hikes around the park and took us around 1/2 a day exploring. Winter is the best time to go as you can really see the falls open up!

Amazing park and facilities. The overlook to the "main" Fall Creek Falls is easy to get to and makes for a very awe inspiring sight. The trek to the base of the falls is fairly strenuous and can be very rocky so exercise caution. The visitor center is very nice and feels very modern. The general store is larger than expected and has lots of food, snacks and other camping and recreational items. If you are camping (especially with a larger RV) not all the RV sites are angled appropriately for easy entry. No cost for entry or parking, donations are accepted at the main falls via a drop box.

First visit since the new Inn was built. It’s really nice. We loved our room. Continental breakfast was fresh and they had outdoor seating. Had pasta for lunch - didn’t disappoint. Will visit again. Don’t forget to see the falls while on your visit.

I came here for hiking and to see the waterfalls, and I couldn't be more pleased. Walking down the path by Fall Creek Falls was a magical experience, made more fun by how challenging it was (very uneven rocks and steep). The suspension bridges were so fun, I saw some deer and other wildlife, and just enjoyed being out in nature. The park is very well maintained and has a good energy about it. I think it would be fun to explore it through the different seasons, so I will be back for sure.

My brother and I camped on the grounds here for four days and had an amazing time! The campgrounds facilities were very clean, the staff was very helpful, the waterfall was beautiful, the hiking trails with overlooks were very scenic, and there was A LOT to do on the site of the Falls! There’s an Olympic size pool, general store that had anything you could ever need, a lodge that has a restaurant on site, different places to do campfires outside of your campground, and a falls creek fall ranger staff that were very good at doing their job!

Beautiful. Lots of campground spots, but be mindful as many of them are not flat. More info is available online when reserving.
I did the full loop and hike down to the falls. Was really awesome and Beautiful. The fall colors are gorgeous.

It's such a pretty stroll through the mountains. Whether you go just for the overlooks or down the trails, you're guaranteed to see some amazing views. The hike down to the falls is less than a mile but very strenuous, with most of the trail being slanted rocks kinda like steps. We have been in a drought, so the water was not flowing like normal. They have shops, snack bar, pool, and other activities within the park as well.
Kali Myers — Google review
We stayed in the park at one of the fishermen's cabins. The cabin was very modern, with heated floors on the main level, clean bathrooms and showers, and a fairly well-appointed kitchen.
The falls were nice, though not enough rain led to a diminished amount of water coming off the falls. There are a lot of trails to hike as well.

Went there to see the FALL LEAVES fall but they had already fallen. We were blown away at how much damage a horrific tornado did to the park three months ago BUT more blown away at how quickly things are getting back to normal! We stayed in the Lodge and highly recommend it!!! Everyone that we encountered were so nice and helpful. Even the food in the restaurant for lunch and dinner was great! Breakfast was a continental breakfast but probably the worst we’ve ever been to. I would have paid for a good country breakfast but understood they are still understaffed. Ask for Room 317 - fabulous!! The state park is huge but very easily mapped. We definitely are going back♥️

This park is the absolute best. So many beautiful waterfalls. Lots of beautiful trails and wildlife. Easy hiking trail to explore as well as long strenuous ones. Everything is just a short distance from each other. Kid friendly. Lots of playgrounds. Great RV and camping areas. Has a beautiful scenic loop to drive around with lots of pull overs to take in the beauty. Nature Center is awesome. A must see. Eagles soaring are absolutely breathtaking. Soooo many hiking trails ! 8 beautiful waterfalls. It is by far one of the most beautiful parks I’ve visited. I highly recommend you visit for a vacation or weekend.

If your in the area this is a must see. You do have to take the trail back to see the best fall. It is worth it. Most of the best falls you have to walk back deep to see them. But it is the best. It is vary relaxing walking through the woulds with the views you see in the mountains are breathtaking. They mountain views are just as good as the waterfall itself.
We had a amazing time walking through all the trails in the area and watching all the waterfalls. The best time to see watefallsis are after a rain.

This park was great. The water falls were beautiful. We started out just walking to Fall Creek Fall and the suspension bridge. Well, 4 hours later we walked 4-1/2 miles.
The views at the top of the falls were cool and the bottoms were spectacular. The walk was rough down and up so if you have hiking poles, I suggest you bring them.

Falls Creek Falls! It's one of the very few waterfalls that I have not seen locally....until today! The distance is fairly short to the bottom to experience a powerfully beautiful up close and personal view. You'll even feel the water droplets blowing in your face as you watch from the nearby rocks.
It was dry today. However, I can certainly see it being slippery if it's recently rained if you are trekking down.
Coming out, be prepared for huffing and puffing as you make your way up the stairs unless you are in top shape. However, it is very manageable. There were all abilities, ages, and fitness levels making the hike down when I was there. I was there on a weekday, and there were more people than I expected to see with tourists, so I can imagine the weekends get really packed here. I highly recommend coming out during the week it you can.
The nature center is a great spot to check out. The trail from the nature center to the falls is relatively easy. If you are checking out the over looks the cane creek falls overlook is definitely work the extra elevation steps. I would skip Cane Creek Gulf overlook. There wasn't really anything to see here. Rocky point overlooks lives up to its name. If you're adventurous, you can do some rock hopping to a fairly nice view. However, it does take some dexterity to scramble those rocks, so if you aren't up for that, you can skip the extra elevation steps here, too.
Overall I would my experience here a solid 4.5 but we'll round up to 5 stars. Happy hiking!

The variety of falls were mostly dry during our November visit, but were really great flowing falls this trip in February! Though we loved them both times, greatly flowing water is always better. We also went out on Rocky Point. Very tough to get to if you're older or not in good shape but we did it and it was invigorating!
Park with woods, meadows, streams & a lake features hiking trails, cabins, lodges & campsites.
Stayed in SSSP for the weekend. We rented a cabin (#9). Cozy cabin. Clean. No problems. There was 4 of us and it was nice to have the trundle bed. The couch was not comfortable, the back is hard. But not there for that. Was only able to do 2 trails. It was in the teens and freezing. The trails had some trees in the way and they are along the hillsides and narrow. We plan to come back in warmer weather to complete the other trails. The staff that we talked to was all nice and pleasant. We’ll be back!

This is a wonderful Tennessee State Park. From their extensive cabins and campground to their various activities, this park has something for everyone who loves the outdoors!
I’ve visited Standing Stone more than a dozen times in the last five yrs in all four seasons and it doesn’t disappoint in any of them.
Be sure and enjoy a picnic by the bridge/over-flow area or at the Hawks Nest Picnic Shelter. And if you want lovely (easy) hike, try the Lake Trail! Or, my favorite, rent a boat and paddle around the beautiful and serene Kelly Lake!

This has been a family favorite for my whole childhood. When I mean a family favorite I am talking about my family came in droves all at once ! This isn’t even our family reunion. I can remember getting together with all my cousins, aunts and uncles coming for a whole week every summer for over 40 years. Not to mention our church groups and basketball groups as well. We would gather in groups and explore caves, night natural trails hikes ( actually have real snakes crawling between your feet! For Real 😳) , roasting marshmallows around a campfire and telling ghost stories, Paddle Boats and fishing 🎣. They always had some Exciting programs about the nature going on around us. They have a National Rolley Hole Music & Marbles Festival with live music and many more things to see and do as well. So if you ever find yourself up around Hill Ham, Tennessee I highly recommend you to stop spend awhile.

Spent an hour there on Sunday 8 August 2021.
Plenty of parking. We were at the location near the dam. They have plenty of pavilions throughout the park. If you are looking for a family gathering place, call ahead and reserve. There are places to fish as well as playground area for children. Plenty of places to walk your furry friends.
Bring some water, a good pair of hiking shoes/boots and enjoy the trails.
They also have meeting center for businesses.
Pool area was closed as well as the concession stand.
Volleyball, tennis, hiking, biking, cabins for rent, boats for rent, RV camping all in one beautiful landscape.
Bring the family and be at one with God and nature.

Currently the camping spots are small, not level, and 90 degree angles to back in. They are approved for a full renovation in a year or two so we are looking forward to that. We found a good spot for our 30 foot camper. The pool was nice and there is an awesome creek coming out of the small lake that is good for fishing or letting the kids cool off.

I always have tons of fun when I go to Standing Stone State Park. If you park down by the dam, there’s a cute bridge and picnic area. Taking the trail at the beginning is pretty rough. It’s a steep and dangerous incline. Once you make it to the top, it levels out for a bit. We hiked until we got to the road, then we took the road back down.

This is a review of the cabins. The park itself is pretty much the same as every other TN state park: there is some light to moderate hiking surrounding a body of water, and something of modest historical interest. Fine. What I take issue with is the borderline-false advertising online regarding the cabins. The state must have put out some serious taxpayer dollars to hire a top of the line real estate photographer to take the pictures in these cabins. They look ten times nicer in the pictures than they actually are. The website claims they have been updated recently (2020) with new kitchens and floors. If that’s true, then every person who has stayed there since must have worn cleats inside, and the state sourced these kitchen renovations directly from the 1950’s. The countertops are sheet metal. All the cabinets are poorly made and painted plywood. The oven is barely a foot wide. The fridge stank like mildew and the couch like Lysol. There was nowhere to relax, which was the point of our trip. The bed was a full, with no headboard and it was on wheels (?). The sink for the bathroom was outside the bathroom and two feet off the floor, but the doorways weren’t wheelchair accessible so the low sink doesn’t make any sense. The whole place was maybe 300 square feet, and a lot of wasted space. We booked for the whole weekend but left after the first night because it was so uncomfortable. I would only recommend this place as a day trip. There’s really not much for anybody here.

My kids and I stayed in one of the cabins at Standing Stone State Park and we had a really great time. The cabin was very cute and rustic. It's not something that is super nice and modern, which I actually like. I love these old rustic ones. There is no TV but there is wifi. The kitchen had everything you would need. Sitting out on the porch was so peaceful and birds and squirrels would just come by. There was a grill, but no firepit or outdoor eating area. Our cabin had it's own parking area, but I did notice the two cabins next to us had a shared parking area, and the people from one of the cabins took both spots, so the couple who had just come in had to go park elsewhere. I felt bad for them cause they had every right to have that parking space. The people in that cabin were also very loud at all hours and played rap music super loud. That's not the parks fault and I don't mean to be a Karen, but I love the peace and quiet when we're at the parks. Also, there's not a whole lot to do if you're wanting a lot of fun activities. There's two playgrounds and a pool, but it wasn't open this past weekend. There are boat rentals and a small lake for fishing. This park is great if you are just wanting a very quiet, relaxing vacation to just slow down and not be on the go.

This park would deserve five stars if not for cars speeding on the main park road. When we were there on a Sunday through Wednesday in October, the trees were at peak fall color, so I was surprised the campground was so empty. The site we chose for a 23-foot travel trailer was a little small for our rig and our vehicle, but that was probably our fault for not picking a larger one. It was the first time we chose a sight that was not described as level, so it also took longer than usual to set up camp. Despite the short length, the campsite had a generous living area with a picnic table, fire ring, and grill.
All this aside, Standing Stone State Park is surrounded by 11,000 acres of State Forest and would be lovely any time of the year, but it was exceptionally beautiful with the trees in the brilliant reds, sunny yellows, and fiery orange of Fall. As it offers many activities, such as a swimming pool, boat rentals, and playgrounds, I imagine it is much busier in the summer, but we enjoyed the solitude of our stay. Usually, we do a lot of hiking, but the portions of the trail within the park were overgrown and too steep to walk with our dogs, who tend to pull a lot. We took part of the trail from the cabin area to the boat docks and the dam. We also walked along the main road, but when the sidewalk ended, I felt a little nervous walking on the shoulder due to the speeding cars.
On subsequent days we left the park to hike in the State Forest and the nearby Cummins Falls State Park. The area offers a diversity of natural areas and many interesting geological features.

Burgess Falls State Park boasts of four waterfalls that cascade into a large pool via foot trails with varying levels of difficulty, ranging from moderate to strenuous. The park is incredibly beautiful and also features hiking trails, a butterfly garden, a playground for children, and a store in close proximity. Visitors are encouraged to visit the park at least once as it is an absolute must-see destination for waterfall enthusiasts.
This place is Incredibly Beautiful ❤ our first trip..about 2 hours 30 minutes each way but it was definitely worth the travel!! I'm sharing some of my pictures for everyone to see what we seen so you can judge for yourself! There is at least 4 falls but you do have to walk half a mile or so to get to the big tall one. They also have a Butterfly Garden, hiking trails, a playground for the kids, & a store very close.I encourage everyone to go see this but the people who are waterfall fanatics...IT IS A MUST!!!

This place is magical! Parking was available and not too crowded. There's a cute little playground for the kids and restrooms close by! There's a covered area behind the restrooms with tables and benches too! The parking lot is right at the trail entrance and as soon as you enter you are blown away by a tranquil waterfall! Stunning view of Burgess falls and super easy trail with only one part with stairs, maybe 30 or so stairs going straight up but if you can manage those you are golden! Not a super long hike but so worth the view! Love, love, love this little trail!

We kayaked from Cane Hollow Recreation Area a few days after some big rainfalls. The trip to the Falls took a little over an hour and we took our time. The Falls were nuts given the large rainfall, but in an amazing way. This is a must do trip if you like waterfalls! Oh, nice launching area. Only porta-potties available and they are not on flat ground. Yikes!

We love this park. If you take the lower trail you can see the lesser falls as well as the major one. They were all beautiful. The lower trail is harder with lots of roots that you have to be careful of and a large flight of stairs. There is an upper path that is mostly flat and much easier to traverse that leads to the main fall. From the main fall lookout there is also a path that goes down so you can look out from the top of the fall. My young adult sons loved that part. Also a ton of stairs on that path.

We walked the trail around 10am and the majority of it was all shady which made it very nice. The hardest part of the trail is if you decide to walk down from the view point to see the water up close. There are quite a few steps that are very steep! Beautiful hike and I loved the waterfalls!

Was a nice little day hike! It took about 1.5 hours total with stopping at the lookouts. We thought it was going to be more strenuous than it was. Not a lot of hiking but some. Mostly walking paths through the beautiful forests. There are two waterfalls on the hike! Would go here often if it was closer to home

My pups and I really loved this park. The trails were easy to walk through. I have two small dogs and they did fine. It wasn’t busy at all and everything was beautiful. The falls were big and worth the walk. It’s so wooded, shaded and peaceful. It’s also close by to another state park that also has a pretty big waterfall. This was also dog friendly. I would suggest to anyone who wants to see some nature while visiting the city.

Spectacular views, well marked path and a gorgeous fall day to adventure. We went early and arrived before others so it was more peaceful but it is a highly trafficked area. The bathrooms were clean and there were picnic tables and grills both in the open and under a pavilion. It was a lovely short hike with amazing views! The park had railings and steps and garbage bins along the hiking trail. Dog friendly too.

I had not looked this lake up before visiting, such a wonderful suprise. That waterfall that's hidden in that lake is amazing. It was about an hour kayak trip from Cane Hollow (lots of parking there) Very nice lake, lots of wildlife and the water was perfect for swimming.

First off. No matter how many pictures you take, the sights don't touch the quality of the picture. It's breath taking. Absolutely gorgeous.
The hike itself. It's steep and strenuous, it makes a little easier since there's steps which doesn't make it seem as bad, (good cardio) but if you're a plus lady like myself with poor lung function, I advise you take it easy and slow, don't rush yourself. The end is so worth it and it's rewarding knowing you did it!!!
We all had a blast, it was great fun. You'll enjoy it. We took our dog too and she had a blast!

Fantastic scenic place. Park area at top of falls offers a nice view.
The bottom is accessible by kayaking about two miles and then hiking the final stretch (assuming the water level is down as was when we visited.
Visiting the base is amazing. Scenic waterways w stellar views. We saw a bald eagle on the water while kayaking.
When the water is low you’ll need to walk in sometimes rocky, muddy, and hilly areas. You’ll be forced to cross the water at times and climb over some larger rocks.
Do it. It’s amazing.

Super cool hike to above the falls! If you like living on the edge, this is the place for you! You can walk out to the edge of the falls where there is rock and see it from the tippy top! Don't fall in though it's 135 ft down the falls. Pretty cool the history of the falls powering a mill to power the town back in the day.

Beautiful area! The trail was not at all crowded on a Thursday even tho the parking lot had quite a few vehicles. Happy to check this state park off my list! We really enjoyed the walk to view the falls. Beautiful scenery every where we looked!

Absolutely beautiful hike. You get to see falls in many different areas which is incredible and there’s a designated viewing area for each. The whole walk you’re surrounded by trees which this time of year (April) were pretty much entirely green. A few trees contained flowers and were in full bloom.

Beautiful waterfall and easy hiking trail. Dogs on leashes are allowed. There is water access at the cascade near the parking lot and I think the only way to swim at the bottom of the actual fall is via kayak or canoe.
Kimmie B — Google review
Beautiful park with a nice and mostly easy to moderate hike.
Walk right up from the parking lot to enjoy the cascading water immediately or take the journey down the easy to moderate path to the large falls. From there, you can view from the top or take the moderately difficult journey to the bottom of the falls.
Worth the drive from any distance!

Such a wonderful park. The trail to the top of the overlook was moderate, but mainly due to the amount of stairs and spacing between each step. There is an access road that you can walk down to make it easier, but you will still have some stairs to navigate.

Nice moderate hike with beautiful falls at the end. It took us about 20 min to slowly enjoy the route. Multiple falls along the way to the main one. Restrooms are nice, dog friendly, picnic places, dog friendly.

Fun little hike and absolutely beautiful! It's dog-friendly and parts of the hike can get a little narrow with all the trees and large roots.
Because of the sections that can be slightly narrow, please please do not bring dogs that are not friendly toward other dogs. Ours was almost attacked by a larger dog that the owner couldn't handle and had slipped away from her.
Even with that, however, I would definitely visit again.

Updated to add more pics and say that it is still incredible being in this park!! The park is beautiful and the falls are incredible!! We took our fur babies and did the hike to the Overlook, the entire trail was amazing!!!

Oh my goodness, this place was absolutely gorgeous! Several waterfalls throughout the hike and the last one is breathtaking. The hike was very nice, however, if needed, there is an easier way to access the waterfall by taking a road.

The 3/4 mile walk to the Big Falls was worth it. I walked on the gravel trail. It only had 2 moderate hills to walk up and had benches at the top of the hills if you needed to rest. 1.5 mile round trip.

One of the most beautiful waterfalls to hike to. The hike is about 1.5 miles roundtrip. Not a hard hike to do and well worth it. Multiple cascade waterfalls to view along the way. Burgess falls at the end is such a stunning waterfall to view from a platform and can walk down to the top of the falls afterwards. I recommend seeing this beautiful piece of nature.
Historic site of 2 former mills is now a popular spot for swimming & hiking.
Beautiful place!
We did the overlook and the base hike.
The overlook honestly was not worth it. You could barely see the falls.
The base hike was great! I'm sure it changes with the seasons, I was in October 2022, the water was no more then knee level throughout the river. I didn't think the hike was as difficult as others had described, besides crossing the river twice, and watching out for the slippery rocks, it was pretty easy getting across the huge boulders. The waterfalls were very nice and the fall colors were coming out too, overall very nice fun adventurous hike.

This place is really beautiful. Due to recent rains the water was high. That and the temperature stopped us from hiking the gorge, but there were people hiking it. You could tell the water was cold. We hiked some of the outer trails, but a recent prescribed burn left most of the scenery charred. It was a bit windy at times and we ended up covered in soot. It was decent exercise for the day. 3/5/22

What an amazing place! It was a challenging trail but so worth it! We experienced this with 3 adults (1 over 65) and 2 kids (10 and 6). Overall everyone enjoyed our time at the park. I would recommend the park have places along the trail with garbage bins but even without that... 5 stars!!!

We had been planning this hiking for a long time, so we arrived around 9:30 AM; for the first time, we did the tour, including the waterfall overlook, and then we took the Blackburn fork river trail, you can see map 1; the route was 2 miles, and we covered it in 1 hour 2 minutes to Cummins falls; I recommend patience and enjoy nature there is no rush, and the was stony path; There is a part of the trial where you have to cross the river, it is super slippery there.
After swimming and submerging, and swimming in cold waters, the route was lighter see map 2; but you have to take your time going up to the parking area; it takes us 34 minutes in 1.1 miles.
Alvaro Zea — Google review
CAREFUL! By far one of my most memorable hikes yet. You can access the overlook easily, but the hike becomes extremely strenuous once you travel to the base. You must have a gorge permit which you can purchase online and screenshot, but make sure to wear some water shoes with good grip bec you WILL have to enter some water along your journey. I'd recommend a backpack or fany pack to keep your hands free, but the views were definitely worth it.
Unjala — Google review
Beautiful area, go early for less people. I saw the falls from a super easy walk. I did not want to hike the gorge in March if it required getting wet. I didn’t see any people on the other trails I took. Not sure why but all restrooms were locked up. There is plenty of parking, dogs welcome on a leash. The park staff were friendly.
Beth Rekoske — Google review
Must get the permit to hike the gorge. It took a total of 1.5 hours from the parking lot to the base of the Falls. We crossed the river at the little waterfall on the right first. The water was about upper thigh high (I'm 5'2") - the 2nd crossing was a little slippery, the water was just below knee high - we followed the rock bed through back to the left side. The walk down to the river gets steep the closer you get. The hardest part of the hike is the walk back up from the river to the parking lot. The level was a 3 the day we hiked 5/8/22. The day before 5/7/22 it was a 4 - gorge closed. Go as early as you can because this is an out-and-back hike, it gets busy and some of the trails are very skinny.
Alieda Short — Google review
This hike is amazing. You NEED water shoes, I was most comfortable in shorts and bikini bottoms as pants will get wet. Need to get a permit beforehand online. I also had a backpack and put my phone and car keys in a ziplock bag and boy did that save my life with the deep water, highly recommend if you don’t have a waterproof case. The water was waist deep in spots when I went since it rained all week, so definitely check the weather and know what to expect as well attire wise. It was pretty strenuous with a dog, but so much fun. I got there at 8am when the park opened so I could get pictures of the falls without people standing all over the falls. It was so peaceful going early. It’s not marked, but when you get down to the river, you turn left and hike upstream. You basically hike until the path runs out then cross the river and hike the path on that side. I crossed 4 times total the whole trip. I ran into 3 other hikers who were really cool and fun so we all walked together halfway to the falls. I can see why they say it’s hard for young children, I suppose if they are carried in a pack or you pick them up for certain boulders they could do it. But it’s tough! I was picking up my 50 pound pit-bull sometimes! It’s definitely worth the pain though 10/10 yes do it if you’re in the area.

Fantastic swimming hole. Didn't seem overcrowded and rangers on duty to keep people safe. Dog friendly too! Small fee to enter the gorge but totally worth it. The hike to the falls is not super hard but there are some slippery/rocky parts. Bring decent shoes and have a spare dry pair waiting in the car and you will be fine.
Gary Roberts — Google review
Wear appropriate hiking/water shoes! Geeze people are down there in flip flops! Lots of large boulders, slippery algae rocks when you have to cross through water, etc. Bring a backpack with lots of snacks and waters, and pack out your trash. This hike is such an amazing experience and well worth it when you arrive at the waterfall. Make sure to get your gorge access pass online to make things simple. People were jumping off the waterfalls, but it was only about 4 feet deep and all three people hurt their feet. Also, the rocks on the upper ledge are super slippery, one lady and child fell and slipped off into the pool below, and another man slipped and fell on the boulders trying to leave the falls area. My own daughter fell and took a chunk out of her knee. Also, check the weather and go when there's no rain a few days prior to help make sure the water is ankle deep and not thigh deep.
Make sure you stop to see the fossils along the rocks, and enjoy the brisk water. We brought our own life jackets. Enjoy it!

Amazing place! We were lucky to have a beautiful 70° day in November. The water was low and had not rained recently. Definitely impossible to keep your feet dry, bring old shoes or sturdy sandals not flip-flops! Worth the rugged hike over large rocks, not for the casual hiker. The return hike back was just as rugged and then it's back UP the steep hill to your car! Walking sticks/poles would be a good idea.
S K — Google review
Please take your water shoes to enjoy the hike.
You will have to cross the river twice when headed towards the falls and twice again while returning.
It can get strenuous if you are trying to avoid walking in the water and stick to the land.
Pets had a great time.
It's take about 3-4 hours for the entire trip.
Most scenic and beautiful views at the falls.

Checking in and getting a permit to enter the water at the falls is worth it. The hike to the gorge itself is beautiful than when you actually reach it you're blown away. Wear sturdy shoes you don't mind getting wet, wear or pack a swimsuit. And throw a towel in a backpack. Don't bring anything you can't afford to get potentially wet. This is not an average hike. Technical terrain with rocks and small boulders. The water is cold but very refreshing on a hot day! Highly recommended this experience!
Clayton Woodward — Google review
Amazing falls and the park has well maintained trails. Rocks are slippery of course but the crossings weren't too deep. Don't forget to plan ahead with a permit and for rain. It will close for any rain forecast due to risk of flash floods.
Madeline Hattman — Google review
This was so beautiful!! I do think the park should warn you more about how tough it can be to actually get to the falls and have signs reassuring you of which way to go to get to the falls. You must, must, must have water shoes or sneakers on that you don’t mind getting wet and you must have good tread on your shoes. Once you get to the actual falls you realize it was worth all that trekking to get to them!!!

This is one of the top favorite places to visit when we have friends and family in the area. We live about 2 hrs away from Cummins Falls and love to make a day trip out it! We make it a point to show off this Tennessee beauty every chance we can!!
The hike can be a bit challenging for those some, but it is definitely doable if you're determined. Love that they offer life jackets and rangers are on stand-by.

I recommend appropriate footwear (they will get we). There’s lots of rocks to maneuver around but a great activity overall. If it was summer I would definitely jump in the water.

The gorge and falls exceeded our expectations! Plan on getting wet feet at least. Use the 3 points of contact rule when scrambling over wet river boulders. (Or you might eat sh.t). Make sure to pack in and pack out. The trash left by lesser humans is a real bummer. Matter of fact, next I my partner and I visit we’re gonna being an extra trash back and pack to clean up what trash we find. I think the weekends are gonna be very busy especially through the summer. Try to get there early or on a weekday. Beautiful spot. $6 a person bc there is a limited number of visitors per day fyi.
Make sure to use the restroom bf going down to the falls. Nowhere to even try to pee in the gorge. There’s nowhere to hide. Lol
Make sure to visit Rita at the country store at the entrance to the park. Great ice cream and wonderful service.

It's beautiful there, but the walking path down to the creek before heading to the falls is a fantastic workout going back up🥵. Do that 3 or 4 times a day and you'll be skinny in no time😅😅. I went in the beginning of December so the water was very low. You could see the bedrock and walk on it. I noticed kinda a lot of trash on the sides of the walking paths and near wear the water meets the banks. The park needs to get in there and clean that up a little. Saw some Hawks and deer on my walk. Not one chipmunk or squirrel, which is weird🤔.

True to its name, it is rocky but beautiful waterfalls and gorges around. Great Falls, Twin Falls, TVA dam, beach area near the lake, and a lot of amazing hiking spots.
It's an hour and a half drive from Nashville. If timed well with post rain visit, this place would be beautiful to enjoy.
The visitor center is quite small, but it offers clean restrooms and a small gift shop. The customer service could definitely be better.
Cabins are super spacious and could easily fit in about 8 to 10 people.
This place is awesome for a day visit, or if you are planning to stay overnight in the cabins or camping - RV and tent campsites are available for reservation.

I love this place. I went to the twin falls. It felt amazing to be standing next to the water. It was loud and fast. Fast enough to make you dizzy, so be careful. I wish I could stay there forever. When you go, bring a blanket that can get wet on one side so you can sit next to the water. If I ever make it here again, I am definitely going to bring a blanket. I wish I could just lay next to the water all day listening to the waterfall.

We stayed in the campground for 5 days. Wonderful trails to hike. My favorite was Blue Hole. It’s only a .5 hike but it is mostly on a creek bed with rocks to climb throughout. You’ll definitely get your feet wet and there are steep stairs, well worth it. I don’t recommend bringing the pups on that hike. Great Fall and Twin Falls are amazing also. Kayaking on the lake gives beautiful views. Spending five days there and would still go back tomorrow!!

Stayed 4 days and 3 nights. The park is huge! There are plenty of areas to picnic and multiple playgrounds. Along with a play field. Plenty of hiking. The park is free of trash and the bath houses are clean too.
I made reservations online and called the morning of to verify check in time. Other than the one phone call I never dealt with any staff. When we arrived for check in the "host" was off duty so we just went to our spot. They were "off duty" the entire stay lol we didn't need any assistance though. I did see them drive through the camping area once or twice.
Overall a great place! I cannot wait to take the whole family!

Amazing park! Well kept. There's couple overlooks one the drive further up to the beach where you can bring kayak/ canoe to paddle down the river. There are some places to stop along the way but be careful with slippery rocks. Take a swim. You can paddle up to the rapids. The beach was dog friendly (on leashes) & picnic tables throughout. Restrooms are clean. Hiking was closed when we went so not sure about trails.

Impressive waterfalls that spring out from the cliffs. Come early and on a week day for parking which is extremely limited. Access down into the gorge is restricted when the Dam right next to it is in use, you can't really plan for that so it's pretty hit or miss. Most of the trails to and around the waterfall are outside of the park. Trails are short and easy to walk, dog friendly when on-leash but there are ticks here so be mindful. Kayaks can also be launched from the park beach. I saw some fishing but don't get caught without a license for that.
Now the waterfall itself isn't so impressive when it comes to height and power but it's unique that it springs out of the ground and cliffs allowing it to cascade off the rock. You'll find many springs throughout the area and form mini waterfalls as well. You won't have to hike at all to view the falls. It's just a five minute walk from the parking area (opposite side of the river from the abandoned mill). This is a pretty popular spot so come early to avoid the foot traffic.

10/10❤️Waterfalls are seriously insane!! So amazing. There is several ways to get to the most popular falls. Most GPSs will take you to the parking lot right by the gorge trail(by the fairy house). This is a nice spot to see the other smaller falls/rapids from the parking lot, can see the fairy house, abandoned building, read park info, and has bathrooms. HOWEVER… this is sometimes closed… there is another road that will take you right up to the falls… basically the end off the gorge trail. No hiking even necessary to see the falls from the other parking lot. (This is where my pictures are located, down the second parking lot). The visitor center has great information, bathrooms are clean, and staff is friendly. Park is kid and dog friendly. Note: getting right up to the falls is hard for a dog. Could’ve gotten closer up than the pic but my dog could get over the rocks.

This was my first time visiting this park. I was blown away by the beauty of these magnificent falls. Tucked in the middle of nowhere, but easy to find and easy to view. We also visited the beach area and found it to be just as beautiful with the rock walls as a backdrop. Plenty of shade if needed and loved the giant pavilion. All restrooms were clean and maintained which is always a plus for me.

We visited Twin Falls. I'm not sure how they intersect with Rock Island State Park. I was a little confused as if Twin Falls is located inside Rock Island Park or if they are two separate parks. We didn't hike anywhere other than where we could see the Falls. So I can't say about the other areas. But where we were, the parking is scarce. Maybe 10 spots at the most. There also wasn't any restrooms .

This is such a magical place. To see the waterfall flowing out of the side of that ridge is breathtaking. What makes it even better is that you drive 6 miles to the other side of the river and see Great Falls. Twin Falls has more height, but Great Falls is so powerful. You get a Twofur in one trip.

This is one special place! So much to do, and see! The rangers were on it when we hit the water in our kayak, he practically ran out to the waters edge to make sure we were safe, and had our life jackets on board. Thank you for taking such wonderful care of the park, and the people visiting ❤️
My only complaint is not towards the park services, but the trashholes (that's what my husband and I deemed people who don't carry out, what they carry in) clean up after yourselves! Take care of these beautiful gifts given to us, such as this park!
We stayed in the campground, and enjoyed it.
Paddled the beautiful waterfalls, took many trails, and loved it
I first came here on a elementary school field trip almost 30 years ago. This place is truly amazing and should be experienced by everyone. We bring our kids every few years to see the beauty that this cave has to offer. Highly recommend and our guide Justin did a fantastic job.

We booked reservations several days prior to our visit. On arriving, there is paved parking and a really nice visitor center / gift shop with nice and clean restrooms.
Our tour group left promptly at our scheduled time. Depending on your hike, it’s a pebble / gravel path to the entrance of the cave. I would not recommend it for someone in a wheel chair or with a physical limitation. Once you entered the cave, there is a smooth sidewalk for the first 1/3 or so of the trail. It gets steep, windy and narrow for the last 2/3 and there are about 50-100 stairs you will traverse. It is an out and back for the East and about 1.5 miles total. It was so amazing to see the different “rooms” in the cave (they even have concerts down there!!).
Our tour guide Victoria was awesome. we loved her personality, jokes and stories.

We took the 90 minute tour and it was so much fun. Our guide Macy did a great job sharing educational facts as well as keeping us laughing. There are some steep stairs going up and down that are slick so keep that in mind when booking. The views were worth the stairs though. The cave is gorgeous.

This was an amazing experience! Our tour guide Rissa was very knowledgeable and informative! We took the 45-minute basic tour and it was just right! I can't wait until they bring back concert events! The venue was very cool. If you're in the area it is worth taking the tour.

This is a great place to go as a trip or to go when you are bored.
The caves are amazing, has many cool parts, and is fascinating with it's natural formation.
The guides are super funny, knowledgeable, safe, and explain + answer everything.
(Shout out to Nick for a interesting and amazing journey we had today)
There is a nice shop with cool geodes and some other cool stuff (to which I do not know the name of)
It was a weekday, so it was not too crowded
There are specific times when the tour starts, so you might have to wait a bit for it. For us, it was around 15 minutes.
Overall it is an fun place to visit to see how caves are made and learn some funny historical moments of it.
I attached some images

Great cave tour. I am glad our small group went in. A little more than I expected to pay, but the guide Briana did a great job of explaining the history of how the cave was found and the geology of it. It was nice and cool inside and a great relief from the hot summer day! I think it would be exciting to see a concert there. Perhaps they should have some special "bargain" days you can come in to see it. But the hour and a half tour was well done.

Always a fun experience and this time we brought our grandchildren for the first time and they loved it. Briana was a GREAT guide! She was fun and answered all questions and knew a lot about the history of the cave.

Had a wonderful visit- wasn’t too crowded, didn’t feel rushed, the cave was amazing, tickets were reasonably priced & our tour guide was informative and personable. I can’t believe I’ve lived within 2 hours of Cumberland Caverns my entire life and have not visited until yesterday- I took my 14 year old daughter & she loved it! Highly recommended this for a fun day trip.

We had an amazing experience. We did the ADVENTURE TOUR, the Hall CRAWL. Our guide Macie was absolutely wonderful. She Very helpful, kind, and knowledgeable. Our expectations were blown away. Her trainee Rissa also joined us too. She was also very helpful and friendly. The Hall CRAWL was so much fun we can't wait until our kids are old enough to go on the bigger adventure tours. We'll be back! Our full experience can be seen on our YouTube channel ( Leggs Outdoors ). Thanks Cumberland Caverns for a one of a kind experience.

We had such a blast doing the Higgenbotham Adventure tour with Vera as our guide, and Josh as a training guide! They both were incredibly knowledgeable, friendly, funny, and helpful. Our group felt safe and in good hands, and got to enjoy hearing stories and learning about the history of the cave as well as the ecosystem we were exploring. We definitely plan on coming back to do more adventure tours!

Mountainous park including Center Hill Lake also includes an onsite restaurant inside the marina.
The lakefront areas of this park are amazing. We did not camp here but wanted to go for a hike. There were less trails than we expected but it definitely made up our mind to get another boat!

This is a very beautiful campground. We were in our 28 ft Grand design imagine on the waterfront and the view was breathtaking. My favorite part of our visit was getting up early and watching the steam rise across the lake in the chilly fall weather. We have three little dogs and the only suggestion I would have, is to request more grass areas for them. But other than that, we loved it there!

Edgar Evins may be the most lux state park for tent camping! The sturdy decks overlooking Center Hill lake is such a a treat and for only $30-40 a night --- worth every penny. I found the playground, trails, and courtesy fishing dock to be a real treat. And the facilities (bathrooms, grills, shaded picnic areas, etc) to be well maintained and comfortably usable. I think for our next visit we may rent a cabin and see what that is like. This is a park I will definitely visit again!

This is a very nice park, well kept. With that said the recent weather was evident by many fallen trees and high water marks. We did the trail by the visitor's center. It said about 2 miles but felt very strenuous. Was there 3/4/22. Had to cross a bit of water and climb over and under some very large fallen trees. The trail was well marked, but at times you had to look around for which way to go, especially by the switchbacks. I really enjoyed it.
Went back 4/3/22 The water level was down from last time and it is very green now. There were wildflowers and butterflies. Saw chipmunks, a cardinal and a bunch of turtles in a log.

Edgar Evins SP is a great place to hike, camp, picnic, or go boating. The cabins are small but well maintained. There have been tasteful updates to the cabins and the view from the balcony was lovely! Essentials are included in the cabin (linens, towels, cooking and eating basics, coffee maker, microwave, etc). The only paper product they provide is toilet paper, so plan to bring your own paper towels, coffee filters, etc. The only downside to the cabin was that we could hear our neighbors on occasion (try to reserve the end units).
The trails are lovely and forested -- expect incline! We enjoyed our stay and would recommend!

One of the great joys of living in Tennessee is visiting the wonderful state parks (not that you have to be from Tennessee). Edgar Evans State Park is quickly becoming one of my favorites. This is my first time visiting the park and I can tell you that this will not be the last visit I make here. The park staff are wonderful and the cabins are spacious and clean. The views are lovely. There is a playground, camping, communal fire rings, pavilions, kayaking, a marina, hunting, hiking, and fishing here. Basically something for everyone. While the kids complained initially about the limited WiFi access, I found this a bonus.

Edgar Evins is well worth a visit. The tower at the visitor's center has some beautiful views of the dam and they were very nice about allowing my dog to go up with me. The park is far enough away from the interstate to be very quiet and peaceful. Definitely do the Millennium trail which is a 2+ mile, moderate hike that has a connector at the halfway point to the longer (about 5.5 miles) ridge loop. Very dog friendly park in general, but be careful on the Millennium trail because part of it runs through hunting area.

This was a Wow park! Never before seen platform parking for the RVs, each like a deck/porch built on the steep hillside and overlooking the lake. Truly beautiful. We were there April 2023 and many vacant spots, quiet, pretty. There is some good but steep hiking around the visitor center.

We loved our visit! We stayed at a primitive site and it was more work to get to than I thought it would be, but the view of the lake was worth it! Some of the car camping spots have nice views too though. So many scenic places for a picnic. It’s very kid friendly, there’s a storybook trail, the tower to climb, a playground, an interpretive center, and dock for them to splash at. I probably wouldn’t plan on them doing much though if they’re younger than 5. There’s a pool Too when the weather is warmer. I wish they rented paddle boards or canoes out of the park, but next time we’ll plan better. The cabins aren’t what we expected. We had a friend who stayed in those. They’re like townhomes.

I think this place has the potential to be really nice. We were very excited to stay here and impressed the first couple minutes we were here but things kinda went down hill after that. We noticed our cabin wasn’t the cleanest. The floors were gritty and I couldn’t even tell if the sheets were washed. We found someone else’s dog poop under the beds and mold growing all over the kitchen. There’s no cleaning supplies so bring your own, no paper towels, you get 4 “clean up” towels that are stained and dirty. If these few things are fixed we would actually stay here again. Outside was taken care of, it was quiet and like I said has potential to be great if the cleaning department did a more thorough job and someone took care of the mold.

Edger Evins is one of our favorite campgrounds. We only came for over night this time. Road off of I-40 is two lane. Not bad. It leads to the Caney Fork Canoe Rental, but double check me on the name. When you get to the park entrance my new Garmin said it could not verify the ability to travel with our RV in this location. We did not have any troubles and in my pictures you'll see there were bigger rigs than our Class A Vegas 27ft, 11 high. I did see some low wires crossing the road in the park, so I'd check before I brought something in that is extra tall. The sites are back in on deck, so they are all flat. Some back up to the water. The road grade was near 10% in some spots. We had water and Electric, and the dump is as you are leaving. Camp store, Visitor Center, Integrative Center, During Summer Season the Park Marina has a restaurant, playground and store. Lots of Cabins, boat docks. We are planning to come back real soon for a three day weekend. Bring your boat, lots of fishing on this upper lake. The customer service at the visitor center are really helpful. Has a fire ring and grille up front near the road, enough room for chairs with a view. Of course they have bath houses. I know I probably missed some of the good stuff, but hope this helps. Thanks Edgar Evins for the lovely stay.

We got a primitive site for our tent for a night. Very beautiful forest with access to see the sun go down over the lake. Don't rent a primitive site if you are movement impaired as they're work to get to, it's basically on a steep incline with no modern pathways. Bathroom access was also work but doable. The other sites looked well maintained and nice. Overall nice price and awesome for a night up in Tennessee foothills.

This review is not for the park, but for the Merritt Ridge Trail within the park. This trail is 8.4 miles round trip from the parking area. The initial trail is a nice walk, but once you get to the connector trail, then to Merritt Ridge, it becomes an obstacle course, navigating through and around fallen trees. At times, getting around the debris can get you off course. I had to use my phone map app to get us back to the trail. Once even using a compass to reorient our path. The trails are well marked, but getting around the trees can make finding those markers difficult. This trail has been seriously neglected and is no longer safe for the average hiker. It took us over 6 hours to hike a trail that once was my favorite place to go.

Beautiful park. No parking issues. Nice office and gift shop. Gift shop seemed low on items like hiking stick medallions and patches. But it's not full season yet. Campsites are on wooden platforms on steep hillside overlooking the lake. Would worry about safety issues for younger children. Great for older children and adults. Nice breeze coming off the lake. Well kept hiking trails.

Ok everyone, if you get anywhere near Short Mountain Distillery in Woodbury you have to go to their Restaurant. Wow does not tell you how truly Fabulous it is. Our waiter was the best ever, Zackary. Dana and I both had Pesto Chicken Sandwich on a French hoagie [toasted] mixed greens, tomato, garlic aioli pickled red onion served cold with herb pasta salad. Appetizer was Fried Green Tomatoes with Apple-Celry slaw, Chipotle ranch, feta. Fresh Parsley. We can't wait to
Go back. It's worth the drive.

The food was delicious....however, for a restaurant that only had 4 tables of patrons, it took 30 mins for all of our drinks to arrive (after placing initial order). And about 40 mins for our food to arrive. They weren't that busy and the bartender was busy doing other things not bar related, instead of preparing drinks. For it being my first time there, I wasn't impressed with overall service.

Went to do the distillery tour and it was a blast. So informative and learned a lot about whiskey vs bourbon, how the process works. Then lunch up at the restaurant was awesome. The appetizer wings were so good probably the best I’ve ever eaten. And lunch was great. The old fashion drink with their own whiskey were delicious. Highly recommend this place for a day out and a great time.

My wife and I traveled from Missouri to see some sights and discovered this wonderful and unique place! We were given a fantastic sampling of their whiskeys and moonshine. The Charred Moonshine and Prohibition Tea hit the sweet spots for us. We each had a different sandwich on their menu and they were delicious! Amazing local art and tapestries mixed with the decore to give it a unique and down to earth experience. We had a great experience and would recommend a visit to anyone coming down this way.

3 stars is generous. We like visiting small distilleries but the grounds definitely need some attention. Very unkept which is a shame because the grounds could be beautiful. The "tour" if you want to call it that seemed as if it was for appeasement. Offering a tatsing and and cocktail class should be the only thing offered. It wasn't crowded and guide was fun. We had 3 appetizers from the restaurant which were all good and the staff done a good job.

I don't like leaving lukewarm reviews but there can be no improvement without constructive criticism, and Short Mountain Distillery seriously needs to revamp their tours and restaurant.
We have a particular fondness for visiting small boutique distilleries as the character of the owners and their unique traits usually shine through. As far as distilleries go the outward appearance is unkempt, dirty, disorganized and the tour has the feeling it has been thrown together as an after thought. When the tour was about to start the guide started the grinding process which drowned out any information he was trying to impart. He made no attempt to literally walk us through the process but rather pointed to various different areas as if totally bored with the duty given to him. The outside could be charming with its rocking chairs but they are dirty and certainly not enough seating for the visitor count per tour. Exploring the grounds on our own we discovered an old still in the weeds along with a bridge over a crystal clear stream. That could have been included in the tour as part of this distilleries fascinating history. Being the birthplace of moonshine you'd expect a lot more effort and excitement made of the beautiful property, and it's historic beginnings. Their whiskey, shine and bourbon are without question unique in their flavor profiles. They are comparable to corporate distilleries, one or two of their labels outshine their competitors. The tastings could have been broken up into segments and a palate cleanser given to allow the notes of the grains to really be experienced. The bottles are mid to high dollar which is understandable due to their size and their limited runs.
After the tour we walked to their restaurant which looks beautiful resting on a small hilltop. The interior is large, a good size for functions, however, the tables were dirty, as was the floor which was sticky underfoot. The bathrooms had no soap, and no toilet paper. They were less than hygienic. We were greeted warmly by one of the make staff but never asked for our order. After 15 minutes I had to approach one of the serving staff who was taking an order from a group who had arrived long after us. We ordered an Antipasto which had a small selection of excellent meat cuts but the strawberries were past their due date.
Based on the incredible history of the original founders this distillery could be a veritable gold mine, however, who ever is in charge of operations and marketing has overlooked this and chosen a lackluster approach to marketing a rather brilliant product. We'd love to see it shaken up and put on the right course to be worthy of it's beginnings.

A wonderful place to get brunch! The employees are very kind and polite and the food is absolutely fantastic! Sadly I didn’t do the distillery part or any tasting but the restaurant was fabulous. I recommend you get the belt breakfast sandwich with cheesy grits and also try their freshly squeezed orange juice! The inside is so well decorated and pretty with interesting paintings and quilts to look at. They even have a little gift shop where I got the best smelling candle ever! The view is astonishingly beautiful and very peaceful. I highly recommend coming and supporting this wonderful family owned restaurant!

Cedars' of Lebanon is a really nice state part. We stayed 3 nights in our Travel Trailer. The campground host was very friendly and helpful. The campsite we were at was a bit small and close to the next camper, but there were many others to choose from that were more spacious and shaded. There is plenty of hiking in and around the park. I really enjoyed the boulder beds on the Cedar Forest Trail, but the special habitat of this region is the limestone glades. Glades range from bare rock to a thin substrate of soil with desert-like vegetation to shallow soil grasslands. The glades may be small or large open areas surrounded by cedar trees. When we were there in late winter there was not much to be seen in the way of wildflowers, but the trails were very quiet and pleasant. Also, if you want to spend a day in the city, Nashville is less than 45 minutes away.

We stayed here in early October with family and friends and it was a perfect long weekend. We stayed in a camper in campsite 3 on one of the more private lots. It was the first weekend that the weather started getting really cool at night so we really enjoyed the campfire. The amenities are great at this park. Firewood is easily accessible at the store and very affordable. There are several parks with swings, slides, and jungle gyms which was a big deal for my 4 year old. For any grocery needs there is a very well stocked dollar general less than a mile up the road, and an Aldis not far away. There are showers on site and while they aren't perfect, the water gets nice and hot and they are spacious. The only issue is there is no curtain or partition to keep your clothes and toiletries bag from getting wet. Best advice- put it in the farthest corner near the door and if you have a trash bag put it over your stuff. The park itself is beautiful. There are deer everywhere and all kinds of other wildlife. The hiking trails are great as well. Overall we really enjoyed Cedars of Lebanon and we will definitely be back in the near future.

Wonderful park with friendly staff. Lots of great hiking trails. The visitor center is small but well kept and easily accessible.
There are clean restrooms inside the visitor center and a half mile loop hiking trial.
There are shelters, picnic tables, kids play area, tennis court, beautiful butterfly garden and information center.
There is also Jackson cave which requires permit to enter of course.
Campgrounds and Cabin are available which can be reserved online or at the check-in station.
Beautiful place to be irrespective of the time of the year!

First time camping here. We had a great experience!
Online reservations for booking a campsite was easy. Price was great and you had an option to round up your cost to donate to the park. **PET FRIENDLY**
Campground 1 sites are closer together than campground 2 & 3’s. But great atmosphere either way. Cabins are offered here too.
Bathrooms were clean. The showers (at least in the ladies restroom at campground 1) did not have a shower curtain; but if you hang your stuff on the hooks your things should stay dry.
There is a spot to do laundry here if you’re a camper. We did not use this amenity, but it’s great to know for future!
A few playgrounds, a few trails, lots of nature!
Heavy ranger presence at the parks, which I was surprised by- but thankful for.
Staff was super friendly at check in and purchasing firewood at the gift shop/check in office. A gas station for basics is right outside the park, and there is a Dollar general down the road and further down the road is a Walmart
We will definitely be back!

I rented a space for my camper for drill weekend to save some money! I got there late and found that the space I rented needed a converter for my plug! There went some of the money I saved…next time it’s a hotel room for me

Winner in all ways. Great staff, and they do a great job of maintaining the park. Beautiful sites and in the AAA section big rigs have NO problems fitting or maneuvering. Very cool nature center/butterfly and hummer gardens. And there is a cave you can explore with a wash station after spelunking. Very clean bathrooms and showers. Close to Nashville too.

We booked an RV spot for overnight camping and we enjoyed the peace, quiet and secure spot. The shower and restroom was right opposite to area 3 with heaters and hot water which was such a plus on a cold morning. The park was almost full in December which definitely gave us the impression that Cedar park is very popular. All the amenities were as expected.
We ended up hiking a 2 mile trail and we saw many deers and squirrels which was pretty exciting for my dogs!
There wasn’t any check in process which helped us coming in late at night and we ended up spending a rather slow morning before heading out.
The park is very well maintained with rangers around during the day.

We had camped here before and really liked the place. This time was different. Our site was not cleaned prior to our arrival. Had to clean beer cans and aluminum foil from the fire ring. Our grille had dozens of cigarette butts in it, so we used our own grill. A nearby site had a couple that played loud music and commercials that resounded throughout the campground. Not the park's fault, unless they allow it to continue, which they did. The same campers used the sink in the bathroom to wash their dishes (gross), and left trash on their site that was still there 2 days after they left. Exactly what are the camp hosts doing? Since there is not much to do in the area, without going to Nashville, I doubt we'll return.

This Park's Staff are truly pros! Our hiking club wanted to have a Christmas party in one of the shelters. That particular shelter was undergoing repairs on the fireplace. Having a shelter with a working fireplace was an essential part of our plan...and comfort. Prior to me reserving the shelter, Park staff member Teresa consulted with the Park manager and maintenance personnel to confirm the firm completion date of the repair. Not only was the fireplace completed in time for our party, Teresa communicated throughout the process to ease my peace of mind. I'll be honest, rarely have my experiences dealing with any aspect of the State of Tennessee been handled with efficiency and dispatch. This time however, it was. Very professional. The shelter was repaired, tidy and clean for our party. They even left the (super clean) bathrooms open this late in the year for us! Could not be happier. THANK YOU to all that helped with getting the shelter ready!!

Cedars of Lebanon State Park is a remarkable natural haven, nestled in the heart of Tennessee's Central Basin. This park is a testament to the beauty and diversity of the region's landscapes.
One of the standout features of this park is its captivating trails. These trails wind through a landscape that is both lovely and challenging, making them a treat for hikers and outdoor enthusiasts seeking adventure. The terrain, sprinkled with rocky grounds and small caves, adds an element of excitement to the hiking experience. Exploring these trails offers a unique opportunity to immerse oneself in the rugged beauty of the area.
The park's rich natural history is equally fascinating. The presence of cedar glades, a natural rock garden ecosystem, is a true gem. The thin or absent soil, coupled with limestone rock close to the surface, creates a harsh yet distinctive habitat that hosts nineteen rare and endangered plant species found nowhere else in the world. This ecological diversity is a testament to the park's significance in preserving Tennessee's unique natural heritage.
Cedars of Lebanon State Park is a destination that not only offers a chance to connect with nature but also provides a glimpse into the area's historical roots.
For those seeking outdoor adventure, a deep dive into Tennessee's natural beauty, or simply a place to escape the hustle and bustle of daily life, Cedars of Lebanon State Park is a captivating destination. Whether you're an avid hiker, a nature enthusiast, or someone looking to explore the rich history of the region, this park has something special to offer. Enjoy your journey through this remarkable slice of Tennessee's wilderness!

Haven't stayed there yet but seems like a really neat looking place. Campsites are way too expensive compared to other places you can camp in middle Tennessee. $40 a night for a campsite is reasonable but they quoted me $50 ish and that was before tax and fees . (Or that's the way I understood it. Cabins are also a bit high priced, even in the off season when nobodys renting them. When I went through there I only saw one cabin for rented and they were still charging $156 a night on the smallest one in the off season. It was cold out lol. Think they should be more reasonable with there prices, especially when they can't even rent them or potentially keep them rented for the price they charge (just my opinion, may not be the case. I only visited the park once . I drove around in there and looked at everything for a couple hours, stopped and asked questions at the front desk etc.

For years Oakland Mansion has hosted high quality events at their beautiful venue. The staff is always professional and kind. James Manning has also taken great care to tell the history of the site and brought forth the stories and voices of the enslaved persons who lived there.
It is the gem of our downtown area and the perfect place for events, walking or a picnic.

We visited the Oaklands mansion and had a great experience. The guide was so informative, allowed us to explore at our own pace and answered our many questions. The house is beautiful as well as the grounds.

Great experience photographing my daughter and her friends here before prom. The positioning of this property is perfect for sunset golden hour photos, with beautiful flowers, a grassy yard, a small garden, and great shade backgrounds. I love taking photos of family and friends here.

This will be the third year I’ve worked on an event with Oakland Mansion and every year they never cease to amaze me. The head of house coordinators are consistently quick and clear with communication, and always willing to be flexible when problems inevitably arise. Will for sure be keeping them at the top of my roster for event bookings. Would absolutely suggest for special occasions!

Super nice people and one beautiful house! Just be sure to contact them to make sure that they're not booked for a private event or closed over being short staffed before visiting.

We just had our wedding at Oakland's mansion and it was amazing! Definitely recommend getting married here if you appreciate simple elegance and a historical venue. We fell in love with the beauty of the venue when we first toured it and the reception hall was a perfect size for our smaller guest count. Our wedding was outside on the grounds with the mansion as the backdrop and happy hour was behind the mansion with pretty hanging lights. We received so many compliments about how beautiful the venue was. Connor was wonderful to work with, he helped me through the whole process of having our wedding at Oaklands and he answered all my emails so quickly. He also met with me multiple times in person to go over specific wedding details. He has a very calming presence that is much appreciated when you are stressed planning a wedding! Highly recommend choosing this venue, you won't regret it!

I was supposed to have my wedding here. We had set the date and we waiting to put down a deposit this coming week. Until today, when I got a message saying that the venue had been booked for our wedding date the ENTIRE TIME and that it was in fact not going to be available. This was a conversation we had for months and we’re told our date was opened. Not only was I disappointed but I was left with absolutely no backup options. Extremely unprofessional and frustrating. I would definitely ask to see their calendar yourself, because clearly they cannot read it.

An amazing place of history. Dinner, Dancing and Dashikis event that celebrated African culture and heritage was awesome. We thank Franklin's Fruit Tea for this HBCU fundraiser and the Oakland's for the venue. It was truly epic!

Photographed a short wedding here and loved it! Staff was super helpful giving us access to the mansion and other locations on the property. Beautiful grounds and great shade! Would love to shoot here anytime in the future!
Cannonsburgh Village is a reproduction pioneer village that showcases the history of an old town. The place features various historical buildings such as a gristmill, a school house, and a general store among others. Visitors can explore the village at their own pace and learn about its historical significance through QR codes placed on the buildings. The museum also boasts of having the world's largest cedar bucket.
What a cool place to spend the afternoon! We loved strolling through the grounds at our own pace to explore the history of our town. So unique and educational!

What a fun, and free, stop! World's (new) Largest Cedar Bucket, really neat old buildings and history. The QR codes on the buildings are a great touch so you can see the interiors even when they are closed!
Be sure to stop by the cute little gift shop for some yummy ice cream, neat trinkets, a site brochure, clean bathrooms, and an informative talk by the employees who work there!

Nice way to spend an afternoon. While the structures are of olden times, most buildings have been moved here from other places in Tennessee. It was educational to look inside the buildings to see how people lived, worked, and played back yonder. Plenty of parking.

Decided to check out a few places in Murfreesboro ( visiting Tennessee). This place is a nice place to bring kids if your in to history. Period correct buildings, nice vintage tractor display and the staff was friendly and informative. No reenactment while I was here but I understand at times there is. It's free!!! And just across the creek is a nice place to picnic.

Great walk through past living conditions. Kind staff, simple layout but go at your own pace. Restrooms available across grounds & visitor center helpful & has cute items to purchase by locals. Oct 28 2023 will be Harvest Day fun, sorry to miss. Blacksmith wasn’t on staff and no guided tour but fun time w the kids and played checkers on the grounds!

Cannonsburgh is so much fun to visit - whether a regular workday or a weekend festival. The pioneer era village is highly detailed and set up to view inside. Usually there are artisans and staff there to explain the equipment and settings. Many beautiful weddings have been held there and every time we have gone we’ve seen some great live music and dancing.

Very well maintained and historical info was interesting. It is worth seeing and fills in a two hour time period. Check it out!

Totally free 1880 old town experience, but if you enjoyed you should leave a tip, the woman was super friendly, she gave us a introduction, you will spent one hour to see all the buildings, its a clean place, they have outdoor tables to play chess, 5 stars

History is always interesting especially when it's presented to you with actual examples from the past. For me, it's amazing to see how well they were able to construct their facilities and machinery in those days. It was all available to see and review. Well worth the trip for me.

Cool, small historic village that you can tour and learn about the history of the communities around Murfreesboro. The historical farming equipment is awesome!

Went on a dreary, drizzly, rainy day so not all the buildings were open but definitely enjoyed it and learned a lot! Dont have room to post all my pictures on here but definitely a lot of history to be learned!!
Went into art league which is also located here, talked to a couple ladies, looked at the art for sale, a lot of hidden talent there!

We stopped by this place because we just wanted something to do while we waited for my son to finish up music practice. It was so cute and everyone was so nice. The bonus was that it was free!
Former Native American hunting ground now features a lake, campsites & 6+ miles of hiking trails.
We had an amazing two week stay at the campground. The staff were incredibly friendly. All the facilities were incredibly clean and the entire grounds were well maintained.
With the gated entry and the ranger always nearby we felt incredibly safe at all hours of the night
The camp hosts were always around and eager to help. They provided recommendations on restaurants, nearby activities and other state parks to visit. I found their firewood to be a better deal than that from stores in town.
The wildlife was plentiful and very accustomed to people. Often I would enjoy my morning coffee with a whole herd of deer about 25 feet from my window.

It a great park; we always have gone there, and every year, it keeps getting better. This past weekend, the weather was great to get the camper out from winter hibernation and get out. It was packed with guests hiking and enjoying the weather. Camp host were very friendly.

Such a fun state park! If you like fishing, hiking and a ton of wildlife sightings then this park is for you!
They have a lovely campground, beautiful hiking trails and a great group of staff and rangers. It’s just on the outskirts of Gallitin, TN. Stop by when you have a chance. It’s wonderful!

Really nice campground. First time here and all staff and rangers have been very nice. Highly recommend if you are looking for a place to camp. We definitely will be back.
Nice to see wildlife in the park also. Have seen a ton of deer walking around and not too far away. Has been very quiet compared to a lot of other places we have stayed. Have heard owls and other nightlife talking. Very comforting place.

Bledsoe park is relatively small as state parks go, but offers nice easy trails and areas that are perfect for the whole family. Just behind the visitor's center is a paved trail area that's perfect for kids and those less mobile. There is a large playground and a few game areas too. The Shoreline trail will take you all the way around the park and is about 4 miles of easy to moderate difficulty (mostly easy but there is a section that goes down to the lakefront that's a little steep). No fishing or swimming at this park though.

Went for a guided evening kayak tour around the park, and it was awesome. Noticed a good amount of campers in the park, but all quiet groups enjoying the peacefulness, which is something, as a camper, I love to see.

Great campground, super friendly people. Pretty decent hiking trails. The hammock spots are the most private ones. Lots of animals. We seen raccoons, owls, a turtle, caterpillars, deer, armadillo, squirrels, and a few more. CHECK THOROUGHLY FOR TICS!!! We got like 6 each the first week and seen tons of babies but they can't bite you yet.

Just attended the 8th Annual History Trail here with my 3 and 5 year old. What a BEAUTIFUL campground! It I had an RV, I would definitely take it here. There are such lovely trails all over, a nice playground for the children, clean restroom facilities, not to mention the actual History Trail, which was amazing. If you've never been, you should go! The views of the lake were splendid, and everything was so pretty. We even saw a deer. ♥️ 🦌

First trip to our first Tennessee State Park. Stopped at the welcome center and learned much information about the park, and other parks. Very friendly and welcoming. We walked the paved paths on our first visit...camping, fishing and boating is available in addition to the over 4.5 miles of hiking trails available. There is a playground and picnic tables near the welcome center. Looking forward to exploring more!

This park is a no-brainer if you're a nature lover. The trailers are great if you like a little exercise with your nature. There are bountiful deer to look at as well as birds and turtles. Great place for the family.

Came here last week for a hike and it did not disappoint! With 7 different trailers of varying lengths and difficulty, it’s a great place to come and try out! Will be back next weekend for another hike!

I'm a bit biased because I'm a local. Bledsoe has a nice campground with several water sites. The trails are nice and this is an overall peaceful place for walks, camping, light hiking and peace and quiet away from the business we all get wrapped up in. We try to camp here once a year. I love the wildlife here too.

It's one of the top 5 on my list because the trails are well blazed and the amenities are great. Any monies that park received was well used for visitors center, restrooms, playground and trails. The RV camping is near trails and lake. They also offer Storybook trail for children that is the 2nd one I've seen so far in the park's I've visited. There's a few docks to stop and take pic's of Lake and the trails connect if wanting to hike further. So so many 🦌 everywhere plus plenty of bird sightings. Easy terrain you can do without heavy boots. Just a wonderful easy hike with friends and family. Enjoy. 🦌🐿🐦🐢🦃🐾

The park is a beautiful representation of how Tennessee looks and feels. The trails are easy to hike with beautiful scenic views of the waterway for any age to enjoy. The information given around the park is fascinating and informative. The park Rangers and staff are wonderfully nice and seem to care for the area as it is well maintained. I highly recommend this place to anyone wanting a relaxed, wonderful experience.

Bledsoe Creek is a small State Park, but it offers camping, hiking, boating, playground, and history. One of the trails is set up for children, educating them on the foliage and wildlife in the park. Some trails are paved, making them suitable for handicap access. Dogs are permitted on the trails. There are lots of benches making even a casual walk enjoyable. The longest trail is a combination of the Lakeside and High trails and is suitable for training for a 5K run. Its total length is about 3.1 miles. The park provides a safe environment for families since it is regularly patrolled by Rangers. Cell reception is strong enough to play music on my phone throughout the park.

The rangers and other staff are always so nice! Good hiking with a varied terrain. Watch out for little tree roots along the lake edge - they will trip you up! Great visitor center. Really like this park.

I've been hiking Bledsoe for 25 years. It is one of the best places to hike to maintain endurance without having to drive a long distance. Give their trails a try! Also very family friendly! Great staff, too!

Beautiful campground. Super friendly park rangers. Clean restrooms. Large campsites.
A couple negatives: sign on restroom says showers cost $5, pay at office. Arriving early isn't a good here. You I'll have to wait at the boat launch til your site is clean.
Despite those two things, it's still a great place to camp!
