A walking trail & a stately home tour highlight life on this historic antebellum rice plantation.
The history was amazing here and the guided tour phenomenal! Our tour guide took us through the entire home and her stories came from a gentleman who used to work with the original owners. All of the furnishings were left in the house when it was left to the state of Georgia!

Amazing afternoon learning about history! Thank you to our lovely tour guide for showing us the main house. A beautiful property for anyone travelling through Georgia. Make a stop...the tours are $8 for an adult and gives you access to walk around the entire Plantation.

If you want to visit the old South, this is a good start. Beautiful property with plenty of room for kids to run about. The grove of old oak trees is nice. The plantation home hourly tour is well-done and you can freely wander the property. At one time it was a rice plantation worked by slaves. This location is close to Fort King George and the remains of the Butler plantation. There are a few additional buildings for the old dairy and an old Cutlass Supreme. The park does a large event around Dec 1st.

A unique part of Southern history with beautiful scenery and without ANY crowds. I learned about rice plantations in school as a kid, so it was neat to finally visit one. Ranger Faye was an excellent docent on the house tour and had a wealth of knowledge. We had the tour to ourselves and could've talked for hours, if only we'd had more time!

This Plantation of the era of Mount Vernon it seemed appropriate our home tour guide volunteer docent, Linda, should be a Virginian. We are ever fascinated with the complicated frontier history of this great country. On this midday Thursday Linda ably set the stage to get a glimpse Georgia coastal life in an earlier time. A few hours here is well spent. A walk amongst the many magnificent live oaks that date the time the Spanish first set foot on these shores can be a spiritual event.

Beautiful property right past Butler Plantation. You have to pay to visit the mansion but the outside park is free. Didnt visit the mansion so I can only speak on the property and the oaks trees out here are really old. Great place for some family photos with a old Georgia flair.

We were heading to Fort King George and seen the sign for the Hofwyl-Broadfield Plantation, so we took time to visit and it was absolutely amazing. We loved the grounds and the old buildings were awesome. The tour guide was amazing, she definitely made the trip. There is a lot of walking but there's also places to sit if you want a break. I definitely recommend taking the time to take the guided tour of the house.

Faye gave an enriching tour of the home. The grounds, house, out buildings are beautiful. A peaceful place full of 5 generations of rich history. Very friendly helpful staff and nice visitor center.
Kim Hodgson — Google review
I spent an hour or so taking photos and leading a swarm of horseflies around. I can't speak to the tours, but the grounds are beautiful and quiet, with spectacular live oaks and a marsh access. I'm thankful to those involved with preserving our history.

The plantation is open from M-F 9-5pm
Entrance fee $8.00per person from the museum there’s a 10 minutes walk to the House plantation and about 5 buildings. That you can self explore , The Main house has a tour guide And it’s every hour schedule .
It was a good plantation to explore quite historical and interesting antiquities from the 1700. Most of the furnitures are intact and original on it’s form. it’s a good educational walk from my perspective and you too can explore this place. So enjoy and have fun.

Amazing piece if history so well preserved that you think you've stepped back in time. Do the tour of the house and get the whole family story, it's so worth it. Absolutely beautiful property.

This place was absolutely amazing! We had a tour guide show us around the house and it was breath taking. After the tour we were allowed to roam around the plantation. There were so many cool places to check out! I definitely recommend bring sunscreen and bug spray! I can not tell you how many times I got but our there by the marsh. I wish I could show you more pictures! I took so many on this trip but sadly I can only give you 50.

Breath taking!!! Lots of history. Really enjoyed the tour and being able to walk the grounds. The tree “Ophelia” was beautiful. Lots and lots of live oaks.

The property is gorgeous. Had a great experience engaging with the park staff. the Story of the plantation is interesting though i felt it was a PG version of events.

We spent very little time here. We had done two other state parks in close proximity, and when we pulled up, we found out that you had to, yet again, pay more money, even with a state park pass to come inside. Really getting sick and tired of Georgia letting you buy a pass and then charging you for 35% of all the other state monuments and parks.
The grounds are perfectly beautiful and the trees, I think they are live oaks, are massive and easily 200 years or older. The grounds are well-maintained. However, we did not find ourselves wanting to spend more money just to go view some more buildings. I think after you visit the King George site, there’s really no need to come here. However, I think I’m probably biased.
It was fine.

We were there on a Tuesday and our tour guide at the house was spectacular!

Plan on spending at least two hours at this location. Tours are given on the hour. The staff here are exceptionally friendly. This destination is a must-see. This site has two live oaks that are 500-800 years old. Be wary that in the summertime, the biting flies and mosquitoes can be exceptionally fierce. Our volunteer docent, Linda, took exceptional pride in her job.
Oldest English fort on Georgia's coast, reconstructed for tours with a museum & nature trails.
What a amazing historical place. Very old and historic. The place was awesome. Lots of trails and things to see. The property was well cleaned and kept up with. The staff was very knowledgeable, sincere and helpful. They had a small store too. Highly recommend this.

We were able to visit during winter encampment.
Went on a Friday so very few people.
The staff and volunteers did a great job.
This is well worth the time.
The kids got to complete the Jr. Ranger program and got swore in by the Ranger.
This made for a special day as well.
Thank you for a great visit.

Very cool historic fort steeped in our British history. Cute little gift shop. Love our state parks!

We visited this site towards the end of the day, it was a step back in time. It was hard to imagine living like this, it's no wonder that there was a lot of illness and death. Anyway the Fort was very interesting and also there are some pretty views of the river. It would be an awesome place to see the sunset. Although it closes at 5pm.
william jones — Google review
This was an inexpensive self guided tour lots of history in the museum. I liked the walk through the fort and the different buildings. The walk around the grounds helps you get a feeling of what life was like.

The staff and manager were all extremely polite and kind and knowledgeable. The AC in the museum was a welcome reprieve while we learned about the local history. There was an ammunition demonstration in the fort that taught us about the customs in the first half of the 1700s. The fort is a good replica and has amazing views at sun set.

An excellent adventure! I learned so much about the history of this strategic post protecting the U.S. against the Spanish in the Colonial period. All of the staff were warm, welcoming, and knowledgeable. They answered so many questions from our group. Highly recommend visiting!!

This place is great! Very interesting to see from the British side. The museum is great for kids, as I couldn't get mine out of there! The fort and park area are clean. Bathroom and snack opportunities as well as a shaded picnic area. Very affordable, no parking fee and low cost for all. Very nice gift shop with very friendly staff. Definitely recommend and we will be going back!

A wonderful fort in Darien, Ga area. The First English fort on Georgia’s Coast
Fort King George is a historical site located in Darien, Georgia. It is a must-visit destination for history buffs. The fort was built in the 1720s by the British as a defense against the Spanish. Today, visitors can explore the reconstructed fort, which includes barracks, officers' quarters, and a guardhouse, among other buildings.
The site is arrived at by driving through a neighborhood. There is limited parking at the location with a parking lot with only about 5 spots. You enter through the visitor’s center. This is one of the highlights of a visit to Fort King George. It allows you the opportunity to learn about the history of the site through guided tours and interactive exhibits. Visitors can learn about the daily life of soldiers at the fort, the struggles between the British and Spanish in the region, and the impact that the fort had on the local Native American population. They had a movie that was on a loop but we did not see it as we wanted to visit the site
The natural surroundings of Fort King George are also worth exploring. The site is situated on a bluff overlooking the Altamaha River, providing stunning views of the water and the surrounding marshes. Visitors can take a walk on the nature trail, which winds through the forest and along the river, providing an opportunity to see the local flora and fauna. The really neat part of this site is that you can actually enter the various structures to see how the people of the time lived. One of the entrances to the fort was closed but you could still get there by using the other entrances.
Overall, Fort King George is a fascinating destination for anyone interested in history and nature. The site is well-preserved and offers a wealth of information about the early days of European settlement in the region. The guided tours and exhibits are engaging and informative, and the natural surroundings are beautiful and serene.

Awesome place to experience history and nature! Before heading back to Florida, I stopped here because I saw it on Google maps. The woman working at the front desk had so much knowledge of the fort and she was so friendly and funny! The trees here are old and huge! The views from the fort of the river is amazing! There's a short trai that menders along the river. You can see ruins of a old sawmill here along the trail and a cottage. Great place to experience colonial history and georgia nature! PS there is a huge ancient oak near the cemetery towards back of property definitely check it out.

Loved the Halloween scavenger hunt! Laid back and friendly with great staff. Wonderful way to let kids explore history with a bit of excitement. It is an interesting site and everyone enjoyed it – ages 8 to 78! One concern – electrical wheelchairs, or scooters may do well but we had trouble with a manual wheelchair. Some of the gravel paths turn to sand for a few feet and the wheelchair would get stuck. Luckily, our family member was able to stand up and walk a few feet so that we could get the wheelchair back on a firm path when this happened. But someone who is completely disabled may have trouble getting to the fort and other areas outdoors. I’m also not certain a scooter would be able to navigate one of the turns to get to the fort. It’s a bit tight.
Vicki A — Google review
A great fort with a very interesting and informative museum and a nice video. The fort itself was much more impressive and larger than some others in the area. The views of the river and Live Oaks with Spanish Moss were gorgeous. The rangers were knowledgeable and friendly. The entry fee was very reasonable and the place was quite clean. My husband, doggies and I, thoroughly enjoyed our time here and would highly recommend visiting.
Michelle Gibson — Google review
We have visited different forts in different places, and this one is, without a doubt, completely different from all of them, being made of wood.
A good explanatory video, in the room next to the museum, will explain the history of this interesting fort. There is a walking path, picnic tables, restrooms, and the park ranger is very friendly.
Very important to keep in mind, mosquitoes, which are not mosquitoes, are horseflies and their bite can be really annoying, so if you go with your youngest children, better put clothes on them, because not even the repellent works with those flies.
Mariangeles Doctor — Google review
Visiting Fort King George was a rewarding experience that provided a tangible connection to Georgia's early colonial past. The fort, meticulously reconstructed, offers a glimpse into life during the 18th century.
The guided tour was rich in historical insights, shedding light on the struggles and daily lives of the soldiers stationed there. The museum's artifacts were well-curated and added depth to the understanding of the era.
Walking around the barracks, blockhouse, and palisades, I could almost hear the echoes of history. The nearby nature trails and river view added to the scenic beauty of the location.
Fort King George is not just a destination but a journey into a crucial time in Georgia's history. It's a must-visit for history enthusiasts seeking to understand the roots of the state. I left with a newfound appreciation for the complexities and resilience of those who shaped our early history.

Beatifull place. But the tour doesn't allow you to stay to long and really enjoy it Don't take the private tour.... Regular school bus... They don't have the key of the lighthouse.

Great place for a nature walk. Excellent beaches on Ocean side of the island. There are no amenities on the island. There is no lodging. You need to provide your own food and other necessities. What comes on the island must comes off the island. Only access is by boat and you need a permit and a contact on the island, who will meet you at the doc and take you where you need to go. For the most part you need to catch the ferry back to the mainland the same day you come. I recommend coming with a tour group unless you're a research scientist with a permit or a relative of one of the island's residents, all of whom are descendents of freed slaves given land grants on the island (a.k.a. Geechees)
Althea Aschmann — Google review
This is a beautiful island with so much history. The beaches are totally deserted since the only way to arrive is by ferry. The R.J. Reynolds Mansion is a sight to behold considering all materials had to be brought over by barges.

Informative museum with helpful historical and ecological exhibits, although are fairly small and some of them are a bit outdated. The grounds are beautiful, with a 1.3 mile round trip nature walk.

Wow! Highly recommended for all natural resource and biodiversity workers as well family vacation, fishing trips. Make you check with UGAMI. It would be great if you can plan accordingly knowing the daily schedule of the ferry.

Amazing place to visit. We went here as part of our family vacation. It was such a beautiful scene. We will certainly be making another trip back.
Great local store off the side of I95 definitely worth a stop! The staff were extremely helpful and pleasant. There were many peach flavored items as well as alcohol.... Did I mention free samples? Definitely check them out.
Jay M — Google review
This local store is a great stop. As other reviews mentioned, the staff is helpful, friendly and pleasant.
Some of our favorite items were the pecan pie, chocolate fudge, peach cobbler and the peach muffin mix (it comes in an adorable peach bag with instructions, perfect for a gift). We also got the fresh unsweetened tea and a bag of chocolate covered pecans.
The free samples are a wonderful idea, you can find samples for almost all their top seller items. Trying the different samples allowed us to pick out favorites and pick some extra gifts for our friends. Some other items include salsas, jams, preserves, vinaigrettes, pickled fruits and vegetables, different nuts, lots of candies and snacks as well as drinks. For their daily fresh items they have bread, tea, juice and many other baked goods.

It was a delightful experience that I never knew I needed. The peach cider slushie is everything magical that I've been missing! Stop in for some very peachy vibes! A great family fun stop. To get out and stretch tho legs on a road trip. So many peach options to explore!! Happy traveling!!

This was a cool stop and I was able to get boiled peanuts although I thought the peanuts were a little bit expensive considering other places give you at least twice the amount for what they charge. The prices for high but they did have some unique items and I did spend some money there. It's Georgia at its best with the selection of terrific souvenirs in case he didn't have time to get anything or in case you're just passing through georgia. You will love the pecans there I've never tasted just such a good pecan and they have samples of everything out everywhere in the store. This is definitely a stop you want to make on your journey you will not be disappointed. And buy something even if it's small you will be glad about it.

Interesting place, so many peach themed souvenirs. The peach ice cream and frozen cider were awesome.
This would be a great stop to add for anyone on a road trip (so peachy)
The staff are super friendly and offer samples of pretty much everything. They also sell peach wine 🍷 and flavour syrup 😋.
Even if you don't like peaches it would still be a great place to pick up a few gifts.

If you're traveling on I-95, this is one place to definitely stop. Unfortunately, peaches are out of season, but I was able to purchase some peach salsa and praline pecan honey butter. Both are so fresh and delicious! When I walked in, I was immediately greeted and offered a sample of tasty peach slushie. Great Southern hospitality!

They have got great collection and especially their iced peach tea was amazing. The lady who helped us was very friendly. We were not able to buy many things as the container size was more than 100ml which was not ideal to be taken on flight back home.

They have peach bbq sauce! Peach everything!

I brought my grandmother here when she came to visit me for a week from Florida, and I honestly was surprised when I got here. I live in Georgia, and I honestly felt like this place was a rip-off. Don't get me wrong, they sell everything you could imagine in a peach flavor... but they also jacked the prices way up on everything because of that. I mean come on, $30 for a basket of 6-7 peaches??? Absolutely not. People love traveling here and of course, love leaving with a piece of Georgia... but we don't need to charge this much for it. They do give you a small sample of a peach slushy when you go in, and they also have a petting zoo, which for me, was the best part! She loved seeing the goats out there and being able to feed them, but unfortunately, she passed on all the pricey peach products.

This place was so cute and I’m glad that I stopped here on my trip! I wanted to try Georgia peach and there were tons of peach things in the store that you could buy! I got a peach lemonade and it was delicious! I also got peach salsa that was good too! There were also really good samples that they had out for you to try! I love how this store is organized and would recommend coming here if you ever pass by! Especially when it’s Georgia peach season so you can pick up some Georgia peaches too!

This is such a cute little stop when leaving FL. The kids had fun petting the goats and mining for rocks. We love the peach lemonade and peach tea. There are 2 locations and we went to the first one when leaving Florida.

This place was so amazing. Let me tell y’all if you are ever near definitely stop. That peach slushy was EVERYTHING. As you can see I did grab some like knickknacks as well. It’s forever going to be at the top of my list to stop at.

So happy with the shipping! Everything was wrapped and packed so everything was intact! The peach butter was so good it caught me by surprise it was so sweet. The sweet heat pecans were surprisingly hot and the pecan was soft enough to chew and then the sweet it was a nice balance. The glazed pecans were an everybody favorite! So sweet and not to hard like others I’ve tried. The peach syrup was so good I had it on pancakes, waffles and French toast! Omg the pecan coffe aroma alone was enough to die for. Balanced flavor not bitter like most dark roasts. The peach salsa is the only thing I genuinely didn’t know what to do with I tried it and it’s good but I have no idea what to do with it…ice cream topper? Idk they should do recipe cards to give ideas on how to try the non mainstream stuff. Amazing experience so much more to try!

It's a great tourist stop. On my way back home from North Carolina to Florida my husband and I stopped at this place because my granddaughter wanted me to bring her peach tea from Georgia. It's a very nice place, nice people, good customer service and a great variety of peach teas, peach cobbler syrups, peach preserves, peach ciders, and souvenirs. The peach cider slushy was my favorite. I didn't give it five stars because I found the Georgia Peach Town clothes was a little bit pricey for me. I was going to get my granddaughter a hoodie that said Just Peachy wich I found really cute but to my liking was a little bit expensive. Other than that it's a great place. I definitely recommend.
We loved it here! It’s beautiful and free! We rode our bikes through and saw 4 alligators and many beautiful birds! So glad we came and will definitely be back!

Nice driving tour on a one-way road through the refuge. Armadillos, an alligator sunning on the bank of Snipe Pond and half a dozen wood storks, plus rosette spoonbills, white heron and ibis. Very cool under the canopy while the Spanish moss gives it that southern feel. Allow at least two hours.

Great example of Georgia's natural ecosystem. The property has running trails, driving trails, and a bunch of ponds. The wood storks are an amazing site, as are the alligators, armadillos, and great blue herons. We visit as often as possible.

Wonderful place for walking/hiking and bird and animal viewings. The nesting storks and big variety of other water fowl was amazing. Lots of gators to look for, also. Reading the plaques with the local history provided lots of interesting material.
Susan Stearns — Google review
This is a great, out of the way destination. The trails offer lots to see. There is a diverse bird population and you're sure to see alligators! The trails move you through a wide variety of ecosystems, from forest to grassland and marine to desert-like. The trails are fairly level with few obstacles and it can take a while if you want to explore them all. It took us 3 hours, 18 minutes to cover 8.75 miles at a leisurely pace. There are several places to park your car to look at the scenery. Having walked the trails, I would recommend a bike as the best way to see the refuge. It would be an easy ride. As a former airman I was especially intrigued by the way nature has reclaimed what was once an aerial gunnery training facility for WWII fighter pilots. There is plenty of evidence of the past.
Don McMillan — Google review
This is a wonderful refuge. There are a lot of birds, wading birds, armadillos, ducks and even alligators. There are also a lot of walking trails, 4-5 miles long, on level ground. Breath taking scenic areas everywhere, love it.

I am never disappointed when I visit here. Tons of photo opportunities especially for bird watchers. Alligators abound and can be found basking along the edge of the water right by the footpath. There are several different ponds and vistas to explore.

If you are a visitor to this Neck of the woods and want to drive down a particularly gorgeous avenue of oaks, positively dripping with Spanish moss, beautiful birds roosting in the trees, armadillos and possums out hunting around for grubs, then Harris Neck is the place for you. I grew up in the area and never really knew about it the whole time I lived there, and now I'm so glad I do!

Stunning refuge that has established a highly successful wood stork breeding habitat; up to 400 fledglings born here every year. Also many heron and egret nests throughout spring and early summer Hundreds of other birds to see-- be patient, walk the trails.
1940s drive-in screens new films all year. Carhops serve diner fare. $5 permit to bring own food in.
We loved this drive in! Easy to locate, great parking, safe covid alternative to the regular cinema, and it was really clean. The only issue we had was trying to scan the code to order popcorn then going to the website still wouldn't let us order food. Overall, a great experience and we will definitely be back. Highly recommend!

Took my children to see the Mario movie a few weeks ago. It was great and felt like old times. The man taking the cash and viewing tickets was super friendly. I really enjoyed his comment when he said "Jesup is only one letter short of Jesus." We will definitely return!

Lots of fun! Staff at entrance were very friendly. We pulled off to the side to buy tickets online, as they don’t take payment there. But it only took a second and we were in! We went for Hunger Games,
it’s a double-feature so we sat through Trolls first. Hunger Games was a pretty visually dark movie, so some of the scenes were tough to see against the darkness. Trolls was no problem though! We will be back.
Kilty Campbell — Google review
This is one of the few surviving drive-ins in Georgia. Staff is friendly. Burgers and fries are pretty good. The price for a double feature is $5! If you go during the warmer months take bug spray if you're going to have your windows down. Also, consider not going during a full moon that rises early. A fun experience. Will definitely return.

Had a sad experience at this drive-in theater. It's been years since we last came, but wanted to take our granddaughters to see The Little Mermaid. We didn't have dinner because we knew they had a concession stand. A handful of fries, literally a HAND FULL is a whooping $11! Asked if they had cheese pizza and was asked what size. I said the large size. They brought out a huge pizza box 10 minutes later. When I opened it there was a paper thin pepperoni pizza the size of a dinner plate... I said I had asked for a cheese pizza because I don't eat pork. The reply was they only have pepperoni. The customer service was a joke. It was obvious, even to my granddaughters, that the staff was annoyed by me, even though they made a mistake. What's more, whenever there were moments where the little mermaid was under water, you couldn't see hardly anything on the screen!!! Will not be back.

My first time at a drive-in. The admission price is cheap but the food is expensive there. And the quality is really bad. It taste like they are using old cooking oil and stale products. It wasn't worth it even if it was free.
I will go back but I'll make sure to bring my own food. Also, don't go when there is a full moon. It's too bright.
Daniel Lee — Google review
First time going to a drive in movie and it was nice, much better than a modern theatre. The food was quite expensive though. I read several reviews ,before going, stating that you had to purchase tickets online but they do accept cash at the gate. Would consider going back.
Anaba-Awendela McMorris — Google review
Very cool place! The food was surprisingly good and not at all pricey for a movie place. We got two pizzas and a 2 liter for $20, brought to the car. The FM transmitter seems to work quite well for the audio as well. Will certainly be back!

The owner (along with management) display/ malignant narcissistic tendencies and treats staff poorly. This tends to be done in a covert manner so nobody else will pickup. The owner Ralph has issues with drinking, in which rubs off on the surrounding individuals, staff, etc. All of these experiences come from working for the movie theater during a summer. As a young African American male, instances like this are forced upon as I have to take everything in while remaining cool. I highly recommend not working (especially) , or going to The Strand! Peace, love , and respect to all.

I am currently at the horror film fest. It isTerrible. The concession stand is not open. We have endured the stupidest homemade short films for an hour. It is now 20 minutes past time for the movie to start. How do you have a 6 hour movie marathon with no concession stand. By the time these movies start and end it will be after 2 am. It got dark an hour and a half ago. That is when the movie should have started. Horrible experience. Will NEVER be back. I recommend the drive to the Highway 21 drive in over the S.C. border. It is so much better.

This park is beautiful!! Well maintained. Great place to walk and ride bikes. AMAZING views. Canoe, kayak, and paddle boards available to rent. For those that prefer privacy, reserve a site on the right side. All roads are one way. Clean toilet and shower facilities.

Well worth a stop in Savannah. The old fort was interesting to walk around. Very important historical significance too. Well done storyboards. The indoor museum had a plethora of historical artifacts. You need a few hours to get it all in. Also, you can ride the paved bike path back to the campground and bike that area also. It was a good day. Many good spots for picnics too.

They have a good museum and gift shop. I was super impressed by the movie and was so happy to see they were pet friendly. They had a watering fountain out front for the pooches, and a great walking trail through the earthen forts. There were big guns on site and reenactors to give the history tour. If you go, take some bug spray and some sunscreen because there's a lot to see outside! Also, they have very clean restrooms and cool water fountains in the breezeway.

Came across this small fort about 20 years ago. They have really built up the "tourist" value. They have built some of the buildings that were present back in the time of the fort's occupation. It is large enough to be worth the admission, but small enough to be seen by those who might not be able to walk a long distance. Love visiting this fort and will come back on our next visit to Savannah. I recommend visiting. Great for kids, too. My 6 year granddaughter was not bored.

Park staff very helpful. Pay to go in, not too expensive $-$$. Dogs allowed kept leashed, big plus for us as we had two. Attractive area close to the water. Easy area to walk around. Great piece of history. Small museum attached to park office with interesting artifacts and stories.

Awesome State Park and Campground. The campground is gorgeous, located on Savage Island with huge oak trees covered with Spanish moss. I stayed three days, site #44 on Possum Trot Loop. Most of the campsites are shaded and level with fire pits and picnic tables. Walked a beautiful nature trail, observed deer, raccoon, squirrels and birds. The park was quite and peaceful sits on the banks of the Ogeechee River. Toured the Civil War Museum and walked around the fort. I definitely will come again.

Fantastic fort to check out. The staff was extremely knowledgeable about the area! I loved learning about how they prepared the canons and you must get a guided tour, the self guided tour would be fine but the staff have extra knowledge on the topic! Don't forget to checkout the museum inside and the gift shop!

We camped here for a week in our RV during the slow season in January. The park was mostly empty. It is a beautiful park. Every day we saw deer, racoons, opossums, squirrels, armadillos, and numerous types of birds. They were doing artillery exercises at a nearby military base, so there were thundering booms day and night for multiple days. We will definitely be back.

A remarkable piece of history that is welcoming, clean, convenient and safe. For those who love the outdoors, enjoy both water and plenty of wildlife - moss hangs from the trees and there are plenty of pictures to be taken. Fans of US Civil War history will love the museum and the impressive fort itself, with its cannons, earthworks and walking tour. Examples of living history are there to be enjoyed and learned from - everything from candle making to Civil War reenactors. Bring some bug spray and some good walking shoes, some cold water and a desire to learn, or just enjoy the outdoors and camp!

Beautiful park. Lots of trees. Tons of wildlife to see that will come right up to your site. Pretty quite. Clean bathrooms. The Fort was very interesting to walk around and learn about. Nice family friendly park!

Beautiful park to walk around in and enjoy. If your from a cooler area of the country like myself try to go on a less humid day. You do have to pay to get in, but it’s not much and it goes to maintaining the grounds. The Spanish moss over the trees is beautiful as well as the trails and museum which was small but nice

What a well kept secret of a State Park. While Ft. McAllister was only involved in a small number of battles, the rebuild of the Fort is very well done. And the views from this park are fantastic. There is a museum, if you have a State Park Pass you can get in for free or a reduced rate depending on your pass, and the exhibits both inside and out are very well done.

Nice tent spaces and not too close to neighboring campers. Very friendly atmosphere. Tried fishing but nothing really bites out there and it's extremely windy when fishing. Nice getaway from work and city though. Tried crabbing, got 2 crabs. I enjoyed it but had to get back to reality.

Really enjoyed stay at this state park. Lots of history, self guided tour of fort, great campground if you like that also.

Nice state Park, we took 5 families and all ages of kids and adults enjoyed themselves! You could tour the fort, play on the playground, geocache, enjoy the Zipline (although there was no swing - we used a hammock as the swing and it worked perfectly!), enjoy the wildlife(fish, deer, racoons, armadillos), go on trails, and you MUST eat at the restaurant right before the campground- FishTales!

This was a surprising park! Set way back from the hub of the museum. Through a locked gate, down a long paved road, are campsites in a nice shaded area. Some full hook- ups, most water & electric. Driving through, you will find nice large rental cabins and a playground! Lots of wildlife. Beautiful area! Quiet.

They really take wonderful care of the park property. We went and watched the reinactment and the staff did a great job. Saw lots of deer in the camping area before sunset.

Wow! What an amazing museum. The layout of information is great, and there were so many interesting things to look at. I real appreciated that the informational boards were easy to read and included photographs along with a mix of physical items. I learned a lot of new information about the town I grew up in. Make sure you ask the attendant to open the barber shop for you — it’s a time capsule!

The building has a short film and displays. I was surprised at the involvement that Henry Ford had on Richmond Hill. An amazing man.

WHAT AN EXPERIANCE. The guide (Paul) was really friendly and very well informed. The focus of the museum is the growth of the Richmond area based on the sponsorship of Henry Ford from 1925 to 1945.
Not CARS! PEOPLE! Jobs with good pay and building a community not just a company. Schools, bakery, general store, saw mill, and farming cash crops. As well as industrial development and engineering.
The town continues to grow with the seeds planted by Henry.
( hint look for the Georgia fruit cake for a real treat)

Was driving by and saw that this place was open. Stopped in and the very knowledgeable staff gave a great tour and was very very knowledgeable. It started out with a short movie then we looked at the rest of the rooms. The museum does have history of the local area. However is mainly focused on Henry Ford. I’m still surprised all the things Henry Ford was involved in to include the building of Richmond Hills.

My Cub scout pack attended the Winter Muster Reenactment here. It did not disappoint! However I would recommend for this particular event that young child wear ear muffs as the cannons were deafening! Very realistic reenactments and afterwards the volunteer actors were able to let the kids explore and answer any questions they had.

I visited the Museum 10 years ago,A lot of history to learn about Richmond Hill, The Fords and My Great Grandfather, J.F. Gregory. Highly Recommend to visit. the staff knows how to treat someone with southern hospitality.
Museum focused on the history of Fort Stewart, with guns, uniforms & other artifacts on display.
Only went into the gift shop since the PX only souvenirs pertaining to Savannah. However just at a glancing pass, the facility looked very clean, we did see basically a history of all the Army uniforms. The gift shop has a lot of neat little souvenirs. My favorite being the GA shaped cutting board. Staff is very friendly, & price point for souvenirs are very reasonable az far as standard gift shop prices go.

Worth the Effort.
Yes - the museum is on base, but access is not an issue. And the Base Visitor's Center team is BY FAR the most helpful group I've ever dealt with when gaining access to an installation.
Now for the museum... GREAT experience and quite a bit packed into a smaller building.
Make a visit part of your travel plan.

Great museum covering the history of the the 3rd infantry division. Plan on a couple hours to work through from WWI up to the war on terrorism. Some displays are really sad as they contain the uniform, firearm, and spent casings of great American soldiers who died in the line of duty trying to save other members of their unit.

The Bonaventure Cemetery is located in beautiful surroundings and is immortalized in the best selling novel "Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil." It has been popular with writers, poets, photographers, and filmmakers for years. The small family plot that formed the nucleus of present-day Bonaventure Cemetery became the plantation home of John Mullryne and his son-in-law Josiah Tattnall.
It's a overwhelming feeling to see such majestic trees and beautiful landscaping surrounding the endless gravestones and statuary on the grounds. It helps us to remember when graveyards were places people left their truly departed , but in the past spent time walking on a afternoon. If you enjoy quiet places filled with a few ghosts ..then go see this and quietly tiptoe through the endless history...

I went during the week day and had to park in the cemetery. There are parking lots but when I went they were full. It's a gorgeous cemetery and it was so fun to walk through it taking my time. The river beside it is beautiful as well and some benches by the river. I found out there are tours through the cemetery so I will have to do that next time to learn more about the history. Some of the tombstones were so unique. It's worth a visit, it doesn't cost anything to go unless you do a tour of course.

This is a beautiful cemetery with tons of history and unique artistic headstones.
Bonaventure Cemetery is a true gem of the South, beckoning visitors with its serene beauty and rich history. But what truly sets this cemetery apart are its ornate, unique, and beautiful headstones and family burial plots.
As you wander through the winding paths and moss-draped trees, you’ll encounter a stunning array of monuments that tell the stories of generations past. From intricately carved angels to grand mausoleums adorned with elaborate stonework, every corner of Bonaventure Cemetery is a testament to the craftsmanship and artistry of generations gone by.
But it’s not just the aesthetics that make Bonaventure Cemetery so special – it’s the stories behind the stones. Each headstone and family plot holds a wealth of history and meaning, offering a glimpse into the lives of those who have been laid to rest here. From prominent figures of Savannah’s past to everyday citizens whose stories have been etched in stone, the cemetery is a living tribute to the people who have shaped the city’s identity.
Whether you’re a history buff, a lover of art and architecture, or simply someone seeking solace in the quiet beauty of nature, Bonaventure Cemetery is a must-visit destination. So, take a stroll among the towering oaks and Spanish moss, and let the stories of the past come alive in this enchanting and evocative place.

Ever since we got to Savannah, every tour guide and local and told us to get our butts over to Bonaventure posthaste. We understand the hype now! This truly is the most beautiful cemetery out there. It is everything you would imagine in an old cemetery in the South. Beautiful Live Oaks covered in Spanish Moss line the roads. It is an incredibly peaceful place full of history. The cemetery is huge and extends all the way down to the river, which also has beautiful views. Highly recommend taking a tour here or, at the very least, a walk among the oaks and history.

We visited here as part of a tour. It gets chilly here (a few degree down than the city), so keep something warm handy.
This place has rich history and legacy of graves. Rich families of Savannah still have places here amidst their ancestors.
Do go with the tour guide, else you will feel lost. It’s the back stories of the graves and crypts that make the visit worth.
Will recommend!

I recommend not taking a guided tour so you can see more of the cemetery and research ahead of time. It was a beautiful experience that was well preserved and an amazing piece of history. Its a must visit in Savannah. The phone app offered by Bonaventure was also very informative.

Such a fun place to walk on a week day. Not crowded at all. Went around 10 am. Many people walking dogs. You can get a tour but you can also just walk at your own pace and look up how to find famous grave sites and whatnot. Recommend you drive all the way to the end and park in the lot. Good views of the river.

The Bonaventure Cemetery is often billed as the most beautiful cemetery in America, and it is. There's something about the historic graves, skyward thrusting monuments, overhanging oaks and Spanish moss, and nearby river that makes this place something special and unique. This is worth the 15 minute drive if you're in nearby Savannah, Georgia visiting. The more historic graves and interesting headstones and monuments are near the back by Johnny Mercer's Gravesite.

Very ominous and uneasy feeling leaving a review for a cemetery. I’ll do my best to respect those buried there to include their living relatives. I went as a tourist and often visit darker places as I enjoy the history and learning about the people that lived before my time. I spent a few hours walking around and reading the dates and names of people laid to rest there. The grounds are very well maintained and I didn’t see anybody there disrespecting the area and I’d be inclined to ask the same of you on your visit. There was a police officer parked up front at night and the cemetery is closed at night so don’t waste the gas. I’d recommend this to anybody into visiting cemeteries in towns like Savannah.

A trip to Savannah would not be complete without visiting Bonaventure Cemetery. There are tours or it's very easy to drive-in and wind your way through the cemetery visiting different sites. There's a bench overlooking the river and it's peaceful and serene! I always get a good feeling when I visit Bonaventure.

Visited after learning of this cemetery from "Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil." Did not expect to find such a tranquil and lovely place. It truly is like a garden.
Many of the monuments are huge and quite artistic. Also my first experience of family plots that are sectioned off by stone and gates.
This is a very large cemetery and easy to get lost. So go with someone local ~ or pick up a map at the shop.
Nicely maintained by the Savannah cemetery staff. Photos are from mid-autumn.

When I visited Bonaventure Cemetery, it felt like stepping into a garden more than a graveyard. This place is famous for being one of the first garden cemeteries in America, which means instead of just having rows of tombstones, it has beautiful trees and flowers everywhere. It's like a park where you can learn about history and see some really old and interesting graves.
Walking around, I noticed that it wasn't just a place for people to be sad about those who had died; it was also a place for the living to enjoy nature and think about the past in a peaceful way. The big oak trees with Spanish moss hanging down gave it a kind of spooky but cool look, like something out of a movie.
First of all volunteer Susan was very helpful and do take the time to stop in the visitor center for advice and any bathroom breaks.
I learned that garden cemeteries started because people wanted cemeteries to be more like comfortable parks for families to visit and remember their loved ones. Bonaventure definitely has that vibe. There are lots of paths to walk on and benches to sit on. Some of the gravestones are really artistic, too, not just the usual ones you see

Bonaventure Cemetery sits along the river on the grounds of a former plantation. The spot where the older graves are is so peaceful and lovely. One may visit the Mercer Family grave site or other areas of this beautiful area with lovely massive live oak trees everywhere. We picked up a tour at the Visitor's Center in historic Savannah, or one may take a tour that begins right next door to the cemetery itself.

What a magical and beautiful historic landmark! The Sunday tour by the Historical Society was one of the best I have ever been on! An absolute must in Savannah to learn more about the fascinating history of this amazing city.
Our guide was so informed and had researched local and US history so well. His insights into the links of the affluent elite buried in the cemetery and the horrifying history of slavery on which Savannah is built were eye-opening and deeply tragic.

A must see. Beautiful and historical. Spring is the perfect time to visit. The weather isn’t too hot or cold and the flowers were blooming. We arrived early on a Sunday and drove right in. It did get more crowded as the day went on.

Forsyth Park is a 30-acre urban public park in Savannah's historic district and is internationally known for its Forsyth Fountain. The park also includes an outdoor theater, cafe, children's playgrounds, tennis courts, soccer fields, and a Confederate memorial.
This park is the home to the most photographed fountain in Savannah.
This is a large park with a sense of peace and deep history.

The park was beautiful and a lovely stroll down the center under the canopy of trees.
Playgrounds were available, tennis courts, plenty of grass to place a blanket and relax.
On our Sunday afternoon there were many homeless and at one end of the park they were having an event offering food and water for the homeless. It got a bit rowdy by a few attendees. A bit of yelling, pushing, throwing of water bottles. But the rest of our visit was pleasant.
We walked down the center as well as on the outside parameters to enjoy the architect of the older homes.
Be smart and be aware of your surrounding while visiting.

Took my son to play on the playground on a Thursday. There are two playgrounds I found out. Some of the equipment is metal so be careful with the sun heating it up during the day. The equipment was in good shape. There are benches to sit at at the playgrounds. We enjoyed walking to the fountain. It was cool to see some local artists selling their artwork or jewelry along the paths. The restrooms are by the restaurant and it was clean when I used it. There is a fun little hidey garden near the smaller playground with roses and benches. The flowers were in bloom and so beautiful. We did get a parking spot by the tennis courts which is free.

This is the one place I wanted to visit on my trip to Savannah and it did not disappoint. Beautiful park! Amazing fountain! It is set up perfectly from the minute you set foot in the park to see the fountain. Trees offer shade everywhere (good thing because we went in July and it was 98), benches for resting were too. It even has a snack bar/restaurant with outdoor seating. I’m not sure if there was indoor since we did not go inside and I have to say the cleanest public park restrooms I have ever seen in my life anywhere….seriously. A park is never complete without playground for kids which it has. It made me wish my Granddaughters were with us, they would of LOVED it! This has to be one of the most beautiful, peaceful and idyllic places in all of Savannah. The park has lush grass and beautiful walkways lined with ancient trees that are dripping in Spanish moss. Different artists were stationed on one path selling sundries and at the end of the path was a gorgeous fountain. The Cathedral Basilica of St. John the Baptist is a neo-gothic Catholic church with elaborate stained glass windows, and music recitals are often held there. It was almost entirely destroyed by a fire in 1898, but was rebuilt the next year and restored to its former glory.
In the heart of Savannah's historic neighborhood, a really well historic church. Some of the stained glass windows are quite lovely. Beautifully constructed church. The church is well-maintained and has a large seating capacity. In Savannah, there is a spot you should go. This church is both cold and peaceful, making it ideal for prayer. It's free to walk in with a suggested donation of $3. The photographs do not do it justice, and the rush of emotion I felt as I went in was unrivaled.

Stunning architecture in the middle of Historic Savannah. Well-kept grounds and interior pristine. One of the beautiful places to visit that should be added to your list.

The guard at the entrance made me feel right at home; he's such a friendly person. Stepping inside feels like entering another dimension, with so much to explore and observe. It's history at its finest, and the architecture is truly breathtaking.

It was hard to capture how beautiful this church is. We just don't have historical places like this on the West Coast, so I was in awe. I grew up Catholic, so it brought back comforting memories. I lit a candle and sat in the wood pew to take in the sights, smells, and the beautiful colors of the stained glass with the sun shining through them. I love how they allow the public to come into the church to look around during times when they aren't having mass.

Historical cathedral with a beautiful stained glass windows and expansive alter. It’s a suggested $3 donation to go in. They offered a free tour where the presenter explained the cathedral’s history and pointed out some interesting features. It took about 20 minutes overall and was very informative. It is an active church so do be mindful about people praying. I would recommend coming here for a first-timer to Savannah and spending half an hour!

If you've never experienced such an amazing and heavenly place, then you should come here. It is amazing, and the artwork was breathtaking! Even if you are not Catholic, it is wonderful, and it is totally free they only ask for donations. Also, they still have services there as well! I loved this place, and so did my grandkids they were amazed at the grandeur of the church. Now, you might not want to bring kids who are a bit loud, for it needs to be quiet. It's still a church, after all. But really and truly amazing.

This Cathedral is Massive and absolutely STUNNING!! 100% worth the stop! They have visiting hours so that you can actually go inside and tour the area and take photos of all of the beautiful stained glass. Beware though: there is no public restroom.

There are no words good enough to describe this experience... a must see to know!! The outside is spectacular, but the inside is miraculous! Your mere presence is altered by the surroundings as you sit in reverence!!!

Came here on St Patrick's Day. It is one of the biggest churches is Savannah. The church architecture is so beautiful.
The vibe is peaceful and calming. You'll keep admiring the beautiful glass windows and sculptures here.
Please be respectful while taking photos though.

This Cathedral is stunning. I was here for Mass on Mother's Day, and I was in awe of everything, the liturgy, the music, the atmosphere. The church was decorated with I don't even know how many dozens of roses, giant roses. The choir sounded celestial. The bishop celebrated the Mass - and delivered a wonderful homily. The windows are stunning, especially the Ascension and Immaculate Conception windows. I am a little perplexed by the lack of wounds visible on Christ's hands, but a gorgeous image. As usual, so many details. I especially liked the "Communion of Saints" images around the ceiling.

Beautiful place. Hard to imagine the hours of work in all of the intricate details throughout. Soaring ceilings, beautiful stained glass and extremely detailed carvings throughout. If there is a red sign out front that says worship in process - not the time to go. Usually between 12:30 - 4:30 on weekdays is ideal to visit.

The cathedral was beautiful! We were there about 20 to 30 min before a service and there was a lady in the back of the church yelling at anyone that wanted to take pictures. I absolutely get it and was respectful and didn't make a peep. Apparently, the cut off walking around the church and taking pictures 30 min before services.... so plan accordingly! I was able to snap a few when she was yelling at others.🙂 It's absolutely worth the trip to see!

OH MY GOODNESS! This is GORGEOUS! No matter your beliefs, you should check out this BEAUTIFUL cathedral! The architecture is breathtaking and well, just go see for yourself. 💕
I remember thinking it's donation only.

Absolutely Breathtaking.
Eye candy for the soul.
No matter what religion you are, the beauty inside is undeniable, the energy is peaceful and employees are knowledgeable and willing to share.
Definitely take the opportunity to venture inside if they have the doors open.
I've been there 3 times to view and appreciate the outside, but this time was the first time I was able to enter.
It was worth every moment spent there.
It is free, but there is a sign asking for donations.
Laura Lockhart — Google review
The church was beautiful. They asked for a donation but it was not required. To light a candle for a prayer that you had a donation request. I give it a 4 only because in my opinion there is historical importance to the building and some information would have been helpful. Not sure any takes note but the would on Jesus switches sides from one window to the next. Guessing those windows are expensive! It’s all. About the details! Lol

Absolutely gorgeous and free although they do take donations. Friendly staff. We went at Christmas and there was a gigantic very detailed nativity scene which was very impressive. I bought a Christmas ornament there with many choices of the stained glass pieces in the church. The organ was specifically made for this church and is a sight to see. Check times before you go because they do shut it down during services.

A must see if you’re in this town, a true piece of history. This Cathedral is absolutely massive in size and so beautiful. The stained glass is gorgeous and so detailed. The wood work is stunning with an insane organ. A very unique place to visit.

Beautiful cathedral that has endured for such a long time. Went to their Christmas service that was very packed . As huge as it was, people still had to stand in the back. I come to this place almost every year to just enjoy the decorations and ceremony. A must see for anyone .
The Owens-Thomas House is a historic house museum in Savannah, Georgia, which features a parterre garden and original slave quarters. The house was built in 1819 and was originally home to 14 slaves. The Slave Quarters are an important part of African American history and include hand-painted ceilings that are said to be blue haint blue, the color derived from indigo.
Great place to visit, admission includes this location and 2 other great buildings nearby. Spent about an hour doing the self-guided audio tour of the museum. I highly recommend the architectural tour of the exterior, it’s free on the website even if you don’t have entry to the museum. The historical kitchen and ice box were my favorite parts, pretty unique collection and stories.

I recently visited the Owens-Thomas House in Savannah and it was an incredible experience. This historic house museum is beautifully preserved, giving visitors a glimpse into the past and a greater appreciation for the architecture and design of the time.
The tour guides were knowledgeable and provided fascinating insights into the lives of the families who once lived there. The house is filled with stunning period furniture, artwork, and decorative pieces, all of which are incredibly well-preserved and displayed.
One of the most poignant parts of the tour was our visit to the slave quarters. These small, cramped rooms housed the enslaved people who worked at the house and on the surrounding plantations. Our guide shared stories of the people who lived here and the difficult conditions they endured, providing a sobering reminder of the history of slavery in the United States.
Another highlight of the tour was the beautiful indoor courtyard, which is surrounded by ornate ironwork and filled with lush greenery. It was a peaceful oasis in the heart of the city and a true testament to the beauty and craftsmanship of the time.
Overall, I highly recommend visiting the Owens-Thomas House. It's a must-see for history and architecture buffs, and even those who aren't as interested in those topics will appreciate the beauty and significance of this incredible house museum. Don't miss out on this amazing experience when you're in Savannah!

Our tour guide Jacqui was amazing! She really knew her stuff and you could tell she was passionate about what she was talking about. The tour was about an hour long but didn't feel like it because I was interested the whole time.

This tour was enjoyable and I learned a lot about the property and the family that owned it.
Note- the tour is about the history of the property and the families that ones resided there, not slavery as a whole.
Tour group sizes are 12 and they only allow so many groups to start at the same tine so if you aren't there early, you may have to settle for a later time.
Our tour guide was super informative and was able to answer any questions our group had. It was nice having smaller tour groups because it allowed you to hear the guide and also take pictures without having people in them.
They are still working to uncover history of the family and the slaves that had worked for them.

Powerful and humbling tour. Our guide Tyrone was extremely knowledgeable about the House and Slave quarters and also added in a little of other historical information to paint a clear picture of what life was like for the slaves as well as the owners. The slave quarters and House were well kept and you were able to see how life was like. Highly Highly recommend this tour. Please try to get Tyrone as a guide because he was amazing.

Pretty cool tour of the mansion with Ericka, a very informative guide. The historical information was interesting, but I did wish more time was spent talking about the house and furnishings. I liked how they naturally brought in the talk about the enslaved people into the tour to remind us about the reality of this mansion. It was done with care and taste. I actually enjoyed the basement section of self guided reading a bit more than the actual tour, the tour seemed a tad bit rushed and hasty. I paid the $17 student fee and I think that’s what it’s worth; I would never pay $25 for this tour.

I took the solo guided tour. This house is rich in very important history. Not all is bright and cheery history, but the stories that go along with each point along the tour are very informative and make you feel like you can picture what happened in each room. Definitely worth a stop while in Savannah.

We did the audio tour. It was informative but I wish we had been able to do the guided tour. I recommended walking the buildings any way you can add it is a living history.
Deborah Fink — Google review
This was a very interesting and sobering visit. It was interesting to see the lengths to which these people went to make their house look like a mansion made of oak and marble. Faux finishes everywhere. And what the restorers discovered as they restored this home. The “haint” blue in the rooms of the enslaved people… Also, indoor plumbing! But of course only for the main house. And pink was a boys color then. Very interesting and definitely worth the time and wait!

Interesting experience that really showcases life in old Savannah and some of the impact of slavery on the city. The museum does a good job of referencing the topic of enslavement in a delicate and respectful way, although it barely scratches the surface of its horrors. The museum is a bit small, but it packs a lot of information into a small space and the guides are extremely knowledgeable.
Definitely worth a stop while in town, and your ticket will get you into two other excellent museums for free.

This place was amazing!! I saw a ghost face in someone's photo from our ghost tour. It was insane!! This house, besides being haunted, has a lot of colorful history. If you ever want to get away on a short trip, I highly recommend Savannah, the Historic District, not the city of Savannah. Our tour guide was awesome for this particular tour. I would go back for sure! Note: It was $25.00 for 3 separate tours: The Telfair Academy, Owens-Thomas House and the Jepson Center, for 2 adults, so quite the deal!

A beautifully maintained and furnished antebellum home! The tour of the enslaved quarters adds insight into those who lived here. Our guide, Jordyn, has thoroughly researched the history of the home and its owners, gave a well informed tour and thoroughly answered all questions. We felt our time and money were well spent!
Kimberlea Green — Google review
Cost of entry was $25 - kinda steep for the tour. The house tour itself was amazing. But rooms bare compared to other historic homes I have visited. Definitely a focus on enslavement which is understandable. But for the cost we spent would have expected more. I did like the connection the house has to Marquis de Lafayette.

This was the one house tour I wanted to take as soon as we planned our trip back to Savannah (ran out of time on a previous day trip) and I was…a little underwhelmed. The enslaved people’s quarters were powerful but, like a lot of displays seemed to leave a lot to the imagination or required offsite research. The house itself had a number of unique features I’m happy I finally saw, but also missed opportunities to describe the iron castings, construction techniques (how do you plan to hold up 2k gallon water tank?) or even who the people on the walls were. Our tour guide, though knowledgeable and complete, seemed anxious to get through the tour as fast as possible and dumped us in the basement with time to spare. Fortunately the basement was a very interesting place on its own, even if the baths were not restored. So…overall would recommend, as long as you aren’t looking for the perfect house and history tour, and don’t mind doing some research on the people who lived and worked there on your own. (Also didn’t mind our 45m wait one bit: just gave us some time to grab some ice cream and coffee from Leopold’s nearby.)

Take a 1hr guided walking tour giving a great overview of the history of the house. Definitely take the time to read the letters from Owens to his wife Sally.
Purchasing a ticket gets your access to two other museums over 7days.

I can see a recent reviewer can’t read, this place is $30 not $40 for an adult. It’s one ticket for 3 museums. These are guided tours that last up to an hour or less. You arrive and then they give you a tour time. The Owens-Thomas House was interesting, you get to see the old architecture and how the bedrooms looked. There is a nice garden. I really love how the staircase looks, it’s very picturesque. Our tour guide was very informative and we didn’t feel rushed at all. I would recommend coming here if you’re in the area.

Excellent historic building and tour. Our guide was excellent, with deep knowledge of the property owners and the enslaved people. The information both on the tour and the signage attempt to provide a balance between the wealth and exploitation during the 1800s. Well done conservation and restoration.

Definitely loved the historical tour given. My family and I learned a lot about the enslaved humans serving the families and about the house itself. Showcases Americas dark past, was proud of my kids for asking tough questions. Also a bridge in the home, you learn the architect forgot about connecting hallways and bedrooms. Part of the Telfair three. So tickets also get you access to the other 2 Telfair places and can use them for 5 days.

I have to say this was worth seeing. Very informative and interesting. Our tour guide was on a 5 star tour until the end when she started with her personal views on America and it’s racist history along with how evil white men were. We all realize slavery was a stain on our history but America is certainly not racist. There were blacks in Africa who assisted in the slave trade as well. Unfortunately there will always be racist people but as a country that’s just not true Other than that little blip I highly recommend the tour
The architecture of the house alone was quite incredible and ahead of its time

This tour was is so well done. The care that has been taken to present this house and not only its grandeur, but more importantly the lives of the enslaved people is unmatched. Renee was an excellent guide bringing to life the stories of everyone who lived on this property.

Awesome tour. The way they told the narrative began from the enslaved persons perspective, which set the tone to be more reflective as we learned about the history of the house in its context. They did a good job of properly representing the enslaved peoples story while also talking about the families that lived there. Our tour guide answered all our questions and kept everyone engaged. Tour was about an hour. If you get there and the upcoming tour has already booked, you will have to wait. We waited 30 minutes. Tours are every 15 minutes.
The Savannah Historic District is an area of the city of Savannah that was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1966. It is one of the largest urban historic districts in the United States, and it contains a wide variety of architecture from the 18th century through to the early 20th century.
We had some time to check out this historic district in Savannah while staying near bye for a conference. The homes here are historic and the architecture is very nice. My favourite part of this historic district was Forsyth Park and the fountain there as well as the Spanish moss trees all over. The park is a nice place to walk around as well as the area as we walked everywhere.
After seeing the homes and Forsyth Park we enjoyed River Street where there’s lots of restaurants and bars to enjoy something to eat and walk along the river where there were vendors selling things. I would definitely come back if ever in the Savannah, Hilton head area again

I visited the Savannah Historic District last summer and had a wonderful time! It is such a beautiful area with a plethora of options for food, shopping, and entertainment. Many of the roads or paths I encountered were brick or cobblestone, which are beautiful but can pose issue to those who use wheelchairs or a blind person using a cane. Overall though, the brick walkways were very well kept and didn't seem to pose much of a risk at the time of my visit and there was not a lot of cobblestone. The main roads are paved. There is an area by the riverfront that utilizes a fair amount of stairs spread out, so if someone is in a wheelchair there will need to be a bit of a re-route to get to that specific area of the riverfront. It is a very lively and fun area with a lot of music and lights which is very fun, but if you are someone who struggles with sound sensitivity I would suggest bringing earplugs or your choice of aid to help damped that. Overall, a beautiful, must see area in my opinion, and has few inaccessible areas from my point of view in my visit.

My favorite place to escape on a long weekend. River Street is vibrant and full of arts, music, tons of little shops and bars/restaurants. The Squares in downtown Savannah are beautiful, historic and so green. If you've never been, I recommend a trolley tour to see the highlights. Then go on foot and find the little treasures of shops, art, food and entertainment.

We had a great time visiting the historic district. Many beautiful ancient buildings (build in 19th century) with great architecture, good parks, famous restaurants, beautiful tree tunnel, good river walk, museums, greenery and finally Church with beautiful architecture are the specialities of historic district. If you are visiting for one day, we recommend using old Town trolley tours of Savannah. Based on our experience this trolley service runs at good frequency and have hope off and on facility at major tourist attractions. For an extensive tour, a 2 day visit is needed for covering all the places. If you are coming by car, one major problem will be parking availability.

This was my first visit to historic Savannah. I only stayed two days, but I had a good time. I used a company called Kelly Tours to get an overview of Savannah. They take everyone through a 90-minute tour first. We had an excellent guide. Then you pick where you want to next. For example, you could call and say I'm at stop 9, I would like to go to stop 5. I called them three times. Each time, it took less than 5 minutes for them to get to me. Some stops were about a 10 minute walk, the weather was nice so I walked some. I feel like I saved so much time, and I saw everything that I wanted to see. I didn't get a lot of good pictures because there are lots of trees and greenspace.

This Savannah restaurant is popular for its romantic setting and gourmet Southern cuisine, served in an elegant 18th-century Colonial mansion. guests can choose to dine in one of the ornate dining rooms or down stairs in the tavern, where live music is provided.
This was our favorite meal in Savannah! The outside is absolutely beautiful with the greenery, arbor and ivy! And the inside is even more stunning with beautiful rooms and a wonderful menu! We got the shrimp and grits. It’s been voted the best shrimp and grits in GA for the last 6 years in a row and there’s definitely a reason for that. The country ham gravy over the cheddar grit cakes with the fresh local shrimp was exceptional!! My husband got the pork tenderloin and he enjoyed that! I had The jumbo sea scallops and added shrimp to it! Delicious! Our girls each had the butter noodles with cucumbers. The chef was very accommodating to add sliced cucumbers to their meals! We were celebrating our sweet girl turning 4 and they brought our a chocolate torte with “happy birthday” written in chocolate with a special candle she blew out. Her face lit up and it was a moment I will never forget! My husband got the pecan pie with a black coffee and said from start to finish this was one of his favorite meals he’s ever had! We already can’t wait to go back!

Fantastic Southern food. Blue crab beignets were light and flavorful. The crispy flounder special was so unique and one of the best fish dishes I’ve ever had…I would return and order that again and again. The fried chicken was worth the hype and the cheddar grits were perfect. The praline basket was a delicious and light finish to the meal. Service was a little slow and they were out of the cocktail I wanted, but otherwise was a great experience in a beautiful historic house.

There is a reason why this place is so popular and that’s because the ambience and food make it such a desirable location to dine at.
This was my second time eating here first time for dinner. There are obvious price differences.
This time around I got to try the she crab soup I thought it was good but had gotten crab soup at another place that I thought was better. That being said my friend got a BLT tomato salad and this has got to be the best salad I have ever had. Buttery dressing on top of buttery spring mix I believe it was had us wanting more if we hadn’t already split the soup and salad between my friend and I.
For the main course I got fried lobster which was very decadent and rich especially those potatoes. I just wish it would have had a sauce that was a little spicy but again that’s just me and my preferences when it comes to my food. For drinks I got a sweet Muscato, which was definitely what I was wanting. I wasn’t really wanting a cocktail. I will say the only disappointing thing was I wasn’t able to get a reservation any later than 10 and so by the time that we were done with dinner, the kitchen was already closing, so there wasn’t an option for us to get dessert which we were both fine with but just so you know if you do a 10 o’clock or later reservation the likelihood of you getting dessert is probably not very high but I understand the staff wants to go home, and I am not mad about a hard-working staff being tired and wanting to go home. I will say I think dining downstairs was the best option for us. We had a smaller private room and I can say without a doubt it was the most beautiful place I have ever dined in. I will definitely be returning because I thought over all the ambience, and the food was amazing and our server was around just enough, but without being over bearing.

Went here for dinner while visiting Savannah. Service was impeccable. Staff was excellent. The decor is amazing. Each room/floor has a different ambiance. A must-go-to restaurant in the heart of Savannah. The building is 250 year old and the decor is elegant. We went in without reservation on Saturday afternoon. We were lucky that they found us a table in the bar area. If you want to sit in the formal dining area of if you come for dinner, make sure to make a reservation. We ordered the shrimp gumbo and shrimp 'n grits. Both are classic Southern cuisine and they are delicious. However, we were disappointed with the Pink Lady cocktail. We couldn't taste the rum in it, and it tasted like some kind of manufactured syrup, not the freshly squeezed lemonade they advertised. The service was very attentive.

Our experience at the Pink House was amazing. The fried green tomatoes, chicken fried steak, and she crab soup tasted incredible. Felt like a very fitting southern meal to have while in Savannah.
Our server was extremely friendly and accommodating and gave us some great recommendations. She encouraged us to explore the building after we finished eating and we’re very glad we did. The building itself has a dozen dining rooms with each one being unique and beautiful. The tavern in the basement is the most interesting.

The best of the best! Great experience, great food! Live music! The best fried green tomato salad I have EVER had. The best biscuits I have ever had. It was such a great experience. We sat next to the piano player and he talk to us in between songs. He was so entertaining. We didn’t have reservations but was able to get seated downstairs. It took about 20 minutes for us to get in. We didn’t get a table but we sat on the couch and it was a fun comfortable experience. A lady was singing next to us and she let me and my group be her backup singers. It was such a great time and boy could she sing. Great experience. I can’t wait to visit this place again!

I’d say this place is a must for visitors! The atmosphere is unmatched, as this is a 1771 building, holding all the original charm. The food was great and some what different. The drinks were outstanding (not something I’ve been able to say in the south yet). Kaitlyn was an amazing server and had such a bubbly and fitting personality. The staff was working very hard and all made sure we were having a memorable experience. Definitely make a reservation ahead of time!

This is a dining experience. The restaurant served as a home in the past. Excellent environment with the feel of old Victorian feel/Southern charm kind of thing. Service was great. My only complaint was that the Chicken Pot Pie dish looked very big from the outside BUT the actual contents maybe took about 3/4" in the bowl it was served in. I don't think it was normal. Barely had any filling. See photos. The BBQ sliders were exceptional as an appetizer! The previous visit my wife had a Ravioli with pecan sauce and she loved it.

Not an overrated tourist destination. The olde pink house is a must try during your trip to Savannah. Serving up southern classics the food is amazing.
Starting off with the homemade cheddar sticks. That are crispy and delicious.
We ordered the homemade pink lemonade which was light, refreshing and not too sweet. We decided to be adventurous and try the shrimp and grits sushi roll. It did not disappoint, savory and salty it was everything I needed.
The strawberry arugula salad was nice and light. We were able to split in two and it was the perfect size.
Max's friend chicken comes and half a chicken, but you're able to ask for pieces which is great. I got just the dark meat and it was the best fried chicken I've had in a long time. Perfectly crunchy and moist. The Mac and cheese had a nice oven baked top with a gooey center.

Gorgeous historic building. For us, the laid back atmosphere of the Tavern below was more our speed. We were told it would be an hour wait but it ended up being only 5 minutes. We sat at the bar and the bartender was very attentive, not the best Moscow mule I've ever had, but the best cornbread fried oysters both of us have ever had. So good in fact that we ended up ordering another serving. I'd go back again just for them. This building is a must see whether you eat there or just take a look around in the afternoon before they open like we did.

This was recommended to us and even though we didn’t have a reservation we got in to the bar downstairs, was still a little wait but they have a good system for people without reservations. The bar was pretty awesome, the ambience was really cool and dark, like we were in some kind of secret club or something. The bartenders were fantastic and would go back just for them alone. The drinks we got were great but the food was excellent. When I came here they had a duck breast special which was really good, also recommend the she crab soup. Overall this place was really cool and would definitely recommend anyone try and get a spot here, I didn’t see what the top level looked like but I don’t even think I want to because the lower bar area was that cool.

Our dinner was good. We were seated in a dark room on the top floor, I would have liked to sit in the bigger beautiful dining rooms. I'm not sure why anyone would want to sit in the dark "office". The food was good, nothing worth noting. The service was minimal, fine I guess, but not much attention. The other server in our room was much more engaging. There wasn't a dessert that I liked, which is saying something! I was also amazed that so many men wore shorts. Not that it has to be formal, but this is an elegant place and the ladies were dressed well but many guys were very, very casual with shorts and tshirts. It is just an observation, but it does take away the "specialness" of having dinner in this elegant house. We did make our way to the tavern and what a cool place! Had drinks and listened to the pianist, very cozy and dimly lit, friendly service.

A fantastic experience! We spent over 2 hours enjoying the ambiance and touring the whole house, it's very beautiful and unique. We enjoyed the appetizers, salad and fritters. For entrees we got the fried chicken, lobster tails and the crispy flounder. The fish was a surprise, so crispy and the sauce was delicious! The sides were very good as well and you have to try the praline basket desert with ice cream..so simple yet gourmet and delicious!

Wow!! The food was really good. Max’s fried chicken as well as the shrimp and grits. But what we really loved was the service! Our server and bartender were beyond incredible. Friendly and knowledgeable. What I also loved was the fact they encourage you to walk around and see the rest of the restaurant. So many rooms and levels all quite beautiful and incredible

An exquisite dining experience. All the food was superb. I especially loved the chicken pot pie with fresh ingredients and golden crust, and the raspberry pear sorbet. Delicious! Kiara, our waitress, was incredible -attentive to our every need. And Amy, the manager checked on us twice. Obviously the standards of service at The Olde Pink House are above and beyond excellent. Definitely worth coming all the way from Washington state to dine at The Olde Pink House.

Based on all the good reviews that I read prior to my visit, I had very high expectations. I have to say that this restaurant absolutely met them. The service was super friendly and attentive. Our server Savannah was very knowledgeable about the menu, wines and cocktails and made excellent recommendations. The food was just delicious and we enjoyed every single bite. My favorites were goat cheese stuffed artichoke fritters, mac qnd cheese jalapeno poppers and crispy scored flounder.
I definitely recommend dining at this restaurant, but make sure to make a reservation way ahead of time.

Super cute place, unique place with an amazing history. Very cramped inside while waiting, being a busy tourist destination (why we were there as well) it looked a little chaotic. We accidentally showed up early (thanks Google calendar). We offered to come back but they said they could get us in at 7, so we went down to the bar to grab a drink. At 6:30p it was obviously packed at the bar but the bartender with the thick southern accent was super friendly and provided quick service. They ended up forgetting about us so we sat at the bar for a little bit once the bar slowed down. They were nice enough to try to squeeze us in so we were fine with waiting as long as we needed to. We appreciated the offer. Extra points to the bartender who asked us about our reservation, we told him we were waiting, he was about to check on it for us and the manager or host? Overheard and immediately went and checked for us. He said he got us and less than a minute later we had someone take us to our table. Things happen but we really appreciate that once they noticed something was off they jumped into action. Food was delicious. I got the flounder and husband got the fish special both were delicious. I have to get fried green tomatoes and he got the pulled pork sliders for appetizers (we didn't need both) and they were great. A fun place to go. If you haven't been to Savannah it's a must.

The chef's fried chicken was the best. I had the flounder which was also excellent. The grits were creamy and tasty but the collard greens were the best I have ever tasted. The historic building takes you back centuries. The staff was friendly and the service was phenomenal. We also had the fried green tomatoes. If you are looking for traditional southern food this is thr place to go. I highly recommend touring all of the rooms and checking out the entire house. Its like a place time forgot. This is part of Savannah that is a must see.

Make reservations!! This place was a great place to experience. The house was beautiful and clean. It was a little bit chilly inside, but we made it through. The food was incredible 🥰. The service was good! Our waiter definitely knew his drinks and the food menu with no problems. Each plate served to our table was plated nice. If visiting savannah, this is a place to put on your list to visit.

Really nice old building/restaurant. The building has a lot of charm, best to visit for dinner when it’s dark outside to get the full effect of the internal lighting. The drinks are fantastic. We had the Tacos and the fried whole flounder. The tacos were great. I’d give the flounder about a 7 out of 10. I gather it’s a long time classic but the sauce didn’t really pair all that well for me. The crab Beignets were excellent!

The food was very good... There were lots of interesting pairings. For an appetizer we had the goat cheese artichoke fritters which were excellent. After I ate about half of my meal I thought I could have just come here and eaten biscuits. The meal was surprisingly inexpensive. I imagine for other people who partake in libations it would have been more expensive. The atmosphere was perfect. It was very quiet and intimate. My wife and I enjoyed every aspect. You must have a reservation and I suggest doing this before you go on your trip. The service was excellent, our waiter Bradley, almost well acquainted with the menu and able to guide us through our gastronomic journey. If I am ever back in savannah Georgia this will be one of the first places I go.

Holy cow! What a gem! I loved The Olde Pink House. Max’s fried chicken was some of the best I’ve ever had. The history behind the house was really extensive and interesting. With over 16,000 square feet, you’d imagine there might be a few empty tables. Nope, the place was packed. Service was top notch, food was as good as advertised, and it sits in the heart of beautiful historic Savannah. Make sure to reserve days in advance. Dinner was booked out, so we went for a late lunch. Best experience in awhile!

The place is delicious! The food was amazing, the drinks were amazing and the dessert was very impressive and nuanced. It’s also a fun piece of trivia that the downstairs bathroom is claimed to be haunted. ;) Such a fun and unique atmosphere!

One of the best all around restaurants I’ve eaten at. The Olde Pink House is a must, at least once. Every single food item that comes out of their kitchen is going to be fantastic. However, the fried chicken was HANDS DOWN the best I have ever had anywhere. Wow.
We got the flounder (our friend was thrilled with it), the scallops, the filet, grouper with crab, and an assortment of appetizers. We were a group of six and every person said it was one of the best meals of their life. Outstanding. The Olde Pink House definitely lived up to the hype. Be sure the check out the bar in the basement - it is so cool.

A Savannah staple, a must try for any vacation and a restaurant that lives up to its considerable hype. The location's interior is gorgeous and varies from room to room. It's low lit romantic, intimate without being too stuffy for a group of friends to have a classy dinner. This is not a wild bachelorette stop. Our server Brianna gave us an excellent history of the house that would not have been out of place at a Ted Talk. Overall she was just fantastic helpful fast and full of great knowledge and recommendations. The food is elevated home cooking from the coastal south. The star of the menu is the flounder and it needs to be tried you will not regret this flaky fish topped with a sweet slightly tangy apricot sauce. The mac and cheese and collards stand out as terrific sides that give the best aspects of church fellowship hall potlucks. The Biscuits are a secret recipe cathead biscuit fluffy buttery and salted just right. We had to take some extra home and had Them over the next two days with cheese and sausage still delicious. Finally the shrimp and grit cake is so good we came back for it at the end of our trip. A wonderful cream sauce complimented a crispy square of grits that have a soft interior The extensive wine list also deserves a mention though I'm not qualified to say much more than Brianna's recommendations were excellent. Finally after your meal tour the house and don't forget to check out the two bars especially the tavern down in the basement.

100% a must try when in Savannah! Claudia was a phenomenal server and made our visit special! Her recommendations were spot on and we had an excellent experience! If you like fish, definitely go for the flounder. It was the best fish I’ve ever eaten! The biscuits are mouthwatering. The atmosphere is incredible. Will defintely return when we come back to Savannah!

Reserved a table for 4 here while on a business trip. After a short wait, we got seated and the waitress was pleasant and offered some suggestions. We went with the crispy scored flounder, pan seared salmon and fried chicken. We were offered complimentary biscuits before the food arrived. The best biscuits I’ve ever had. The food was on par with the other reviews here. Totally enjoyed the food and the experience. Definitely recommend if you are in the area.

I went awhile back. This is a very historic and famous restaurant. I initially booked reservations for a group of 4 online because spots were filling up fast. You can choose to dress up or smart casual, or just go as casual. We sat and ate in the tavern downstairs where it was casual attire. Just a note, it’s the same menu as upstairs. I didn’t get a chance to see all of the rooms but the decor is different and equally as beautiful as the next room. For myself, i got the fried green tomatoes and the pecan crusted chicken breast. Fried green tomatoes were excellent but for the price, they should have added another piece. The pecan crusted chicken breast was okay, nothing very memorable. I would have liked it to be cooked so that the middle is more moist. It was dry in some parts. The sweet potato and collard greens were fine. Service was good. Prices are slightly expensive. Worth going once.

Spooky place at night. Cobblestone makes for tricky walking so be careful. Leave the heels at home boys and girls. Put on a good pair of boots or sneakers. I promise you'll turn an ankle and/or end up barefoot otherwise. Lots of neat old haunted places through this section of Savannah. Must see at night in my opinion. Stay alert though. It's not terribly dangerous but you can easily find yourself trapped if you take the wrong stairs or wander too far by yourself. You can take your car on River St but I wouldn't do it . In fact avoid your car altogether in Savannah if possible. The city itself is razy confusing. And historically speaking I can only imagine the horror River street had experienced for hundreds of years present day for the most part excluded. If those bricks could talk I don't think I could bare to hear their voice. Chilling to think that you actually might just hear River St talking to you if you're walking along at night. In fact I was certain River Street was speaking but then I realized that it was a homeless guy and he was talking to nobody about "needing his damn sunglasses" . So maybe River Street and this man were having a conversation. Not sure, I did not try to join the back and forth. So keep your heads up at night somehow while also looking at your feet so you don't fall and look like an a$$.

Was difficult to find and using Google maps wasn't completely helpful. But what a cool area!!! I didn't realize shops were on both sides at first. Was a little tough getting down the stairs so on the way back up we found a set a little less steep. Having a directory would have been helpful. That way we could have seen what was down there, where bathrooms are, etc.
Wish we had more time.
This is along the river, across from the convention center but on outside of downtown historic area. It's pretty, lots of little shops (loved the candy store, five and dime, and marketplace). 5 and Dime has restrooms. There is a pub type place down there, too. Just a cute area, separate from the stores,.restaurants, etc. In downtown. Cobblestone and treed, very historical looking.

The City Market in Savannah, GA is a four-block open-air market that has been in operation since the 1700s. The market houses retail stores, restaurants, and art galleries within restored warehouses, making it a popular destination for locals and tourists alike.
A must place to visit in savannah. Place with lot of pubs, eateries and live music. McDonald's and Walgreen are also present in this location. There is also a souvenir shop and there are many souvenir available at affordable rates. This place was very crowded during our visit. A visit we will always remember for people with hospitality.

City Market is a busy tourist spot, but I'm not sure why when there are other parts of the district that are more appealing and seem much safer. Don't get me wrong, during daylight, City Market is perfectly fine... but I wouldn't bring the kids here when it's dark. Somehow, City Market has become the playground for the homeless and dealers. I do love Vinnie Van Go-Go's pizza, and honestly, it's one of the cheapest places around to grab a lunch or light dinner. Sorry Charlies is also great with one of the best, non river view, rooftops in the city. Hopefully, the operators of the Market can get the area cleaned up and safer for everyone to enjoy during the hours of operation.

City Market is a fun little touristy spot with a wide selection of shops including places such as an exotic meat jerky store, some old time-y candy shops, a prohibition museum, several gift/souvenir shops, and a restaurant or two. Overall, a fun little stroll before or after walking along the river, but mostly just overpriced, inauthentic tourist merch. The candy and jerky shops are really what push up the stars on this review, the rest of the shops were really just a dime a dozen and can be found just about anywhere.

Great outdoor market where the food and entertainment options are a plenty, the buildings are cute and the fun isn't limited to just the day. Evening bars and nightlife is active and welcoming.
This market doesn't feel like it's built just fir tourists to come spend money, but like even the local community enjoys it as well. It was a nice change of pace from other markets.
It could use easier to find bathrooms though!

Easy to walk and shop. We bought lots of candy! Visited the Prohibition museum and caught the trolley tour right there. This is City Market. A shopping area in historic Savannah. Not a hotel.
Lydia Orcales — Google review
City market is an area not one individual business. It's lined with shops and eateries and also serves as a center point o Savannah for both locals and tourists alike. It is currently undergoing a social and physical transformation as town is trying to wean the area of its bottle, literally. A concerted effort is being made to change the image of the area being known for drunkeness and debauchery. So it's a bit more tame than in years past. I am sympathetic, but I feel as a reviewer I should let you that historicly that the surrounding areas are gathering spots for the homeless. No encampments or such but I find it difficult to get though the area without being approached for money or some scheme...I still love Savannah, but I'm sure some with different comfort levels might not think so.

The hours are pretty limited, but moreover there are nearly zero vegetarian options at any of the restaurants. People who eat vegetarian have family and friends who eat meat and seafood- we like eating with our family and friends and when you don’t have a standard veggie burger or a basic pasta (primavera, vodka sauce, baked ziti, eggplant parm, etc.) even that’s just backwards! When SCAD operates over 70 buildings in your town it’s time to adapt and start offering more food options! It was like going back 30 years. I would never expect family who aren’t vegetarians to eat at a ‘vegan only’ restaurant and it’s ridiculous to have so few options. We live in NJ and literally we have never been to a restaurant where a vegetarian couldn’t find a meal. One day we walked to nine consecutive restaurants with not one option!
My husband and I had a very nice lunch here at Watermelon Creek. The food was great (I had the salad sampler), portions nice, owners were pleasant. We took a walk around the lake after eating! Great afternoon. We will return! Must make reservations!

A great location and friendly staff, not to mention terrific local wines and food. We did the tasting and the owner does do a bit of a comedic schtick while going through it. Apparently that’s not some folks cup of tea judging by other reviews, but if you’re familiar with Georgia you’ll enjoy - we did. Nothing offensive, just classic southern charm and a touch of fire and brimstone
They took special care of us with our infant son and made she we had all we needed.
Make sure you call ahead to reserve your time slot for wine tasting and also to place your order. They’re mom and pop kind of joint and if they aren’t busy they may close for the day.
Best piece of advice is treat yourself to the brookie. It comes with homemade Nutella ice cream which is every bit as amazing as one would imagine.

Nope! Don’t bother.
We had a wine tasting and dinner here. The wine tasting was interactive, informative and the wines were good.
However, the overall value for the experience as a whole was poor. My husband had shrimp and grits and I had fish tacos. The shrimp and grits featured about five popcorn shrimp and loads of salt. My fish tacos were equally over salted and less than memorable.
The carrot cake was obviously mass produced in some company’s commercial kitchen and served cold.
I want my money and time spent here back!

Georgious. Absolutely beautiful property. The owner is very kind and she can explain everything about their products. Seriously, we spent a half dour discussing the sand pears they used. This is a family run business.
They have limited hours and availability because they are making everything fresh. We didn't have an opportunity to try the food because the reservations were full, so reserve early if you plan on eating there. We had planned on doing the wine tasting, but when we called, we didn't ask the right questions. They are open for wine tasting, but that stops at 4PM so they can get ready for dinner.

Anniversary date for some great friends of ours. This family winery made it an event to remember. Wine tasting to start off with, as Charles shared his historic but humorous story with us. As a group, many of the evening dishes were tried: salad, cornish hen, salmon, steak, shrimp, scallops and 16 oz pork chops.. and two different cheese cakes to boot. Beautiful place with a relaxing environment. We are out on the balcony. Awesome people, awesome place! Was $$$ but worth the moment.

Dog friendly on patio, including a dog menu and water. The 5 beers that I tried were all very good, much better than the taste and prices we experienced at the other microbrewery nearby.
Plus, the staff was very friendly and attentive. They also had either 6-packs or growler fills on all their beers and were reasonably priced. Be sure to try their Damn Yankee IPA, and my wife loved their sours.

Great place to eat. We split a huge pretzel appetizer with beer cheese. Then had a classic burger cooked medium to perfection. The only complaint I would have, one of the waitresses was wearing spandex shorts and it was not fun watching her pull the legs of shorts down to get rid of wedgies on the front and back. Very unprofessional and slightly disgusting.

Nice place, food and drinks were good. Service was not great at the bar at least to outsiders like us. We were visiting family for the night going back home to Florida and went for dinner and drinks. First sat at a table outside as we had kids with us and service was decent but simple things were missed like refills and food runner didn’t ask if we needed anything else and we were missing ketchup for burger and fries. The rest of our party left and we decided to stay and go to the bar for a few more drinks. It was clear that if you weren’t a regular you weren’t getting the same service. Took forever to be helped or even acknowledged but bar tenders were constantly chatting with people on both sides of us, joking around and very attentive to their needs. Food was delivered to gentlemen next to us and manager asked if he could get him anything else but when he brought us ours nothing just dropped and left. So clearly secondary service is a huge miss starting all the way at the top (manager). Very disappointing to go to a place to enjoy a night out and feel almost un welcomed. I believe this restaurant has a lot of potential but could use a few months of secret shoppers to pin point where they lack in order to make it a better experience overall.

My wife and I were in Port Royal visiting Shellring Ale Works (excellent!) and we decided to detour over to Bluffton and visit Southern Barrel because my wife is a big fan of their Wild Bramble sour. I’m trying to be a little sympathetic in my review because clearly something was amiss with the staff. My wife is allergic to strawberries and when she asked our waiter if two of the fruited beers had strawberry he responded, “I don’t know, and I doubt anyone else here knows either.” Then we overheard the bartender tell another patron in response to their question, “I don’t know. I don’t really drink beer.” Both of these responses fail for a response when you are a local brewery. Also we were sitting close enough to the kitchen to see that they were on the verge of a mutiny. Two kitchen staff walked out while we were there. I get that restaurants have bad days. I just couldn’t tell if our waiter was moving around with frantic understaffed energy, if scattered energy is just his vibe, or if he was disinterested. At one point I needed more napkins and when he brought them over he never even broke stride as he dropped them on our table.
My biggest hurdle with this visit is that the location lacked any of the atmosphere you would expect from a local brewery. It felt like an Applebee’s or TGIFridays or BJs or any other generic chain restaurant that happens to have their own beer on tap. My fried chicken sandwich lacked flavor and had so much sodium that it could have eradicated all the slugs in a 10 mile radius. My wife’s sandwich was missing ingredients, but with everything we could see going on in the kitchen and our waiter fluctuating between rushing around the restaurant and checking his phone, there was no way we were going to risk sending it back to get it fixed.
At the end of the day, I’m just disappointed that I spent $60 on such a lackluster lunch. We were trying to show some love to a local brewery that makes a beer we like, but it just felt very corporate. We’ll still enjoy Wild Bramble when we see it out but there’s no draw for us to return here.

This is an easy 5 star review. We stopped in for an afternoon brew and snack. Our first time there so we got a flight and we each found our favorite for the future.
The big fat pretzel with cheese was a perfect pairing with the beer.
Very impressed by the staff working together and our server Natalia was personable, helpful, and energetic.
We will be here again for sure.
Quiet on Friday morning. Indoor shop, all tables are outdoors, most under a roof, so some weather consideration. Wines were very good. Pleasantly surprised at the quality of taste as compared to other stand alone wineries. My wife an I shared two flights which were 1 oz pours of 5 wines. From those 10 wines we narrowed down to 5 we really liked, and enjoyed a bottle of the Southern Duck Red, a semisweet red blend. Then brought 5 bottles home. Prices were $18-$20 a bottle. Oh we also shared a Fruit and Cheese plate, very reasonable and good. Would come here again.

So much fun, and such a cute little place. The women who run it are very pleasant and helpful.

Great wine, great time! Very well priced from wineries we've been to before. I liked how organized the wines were. Easy process when buying flights. They are categorized into sections (example: dry, wet, semi sweet, sweet, and super sweet) so you dont have to wonder what your getting or if you'll like it or not. We ordered two flights and each flight gives a description of each wine your tasting and the price for a whole bottle (average bottle around $12). We will be back soon!

Nice small winery about 40 min outside of Savannah. Good selection of fruit wines, we tried the tasting of wines and drank them outside under the trees. The pear wine makes a great fresh warm weather wine. My suggestion is to buy the whole bottle and enjoy it on the grounds, the bottles are $12 and up and the glasses are $6 up. They serve they bottles in nice cooling buckets with glasses. They offer cheese plates, and sell other snack food in the gift shop. We got the variety pack of cheese straws which were delicious.

The "wine flight" or should I say wine tasting was excellent, and I purchased 2 bottles of "very sweet" wine. I recommend visiting.

Hands down some of the best wine I've found across 6 states. Unmatched in balance and flavors. Try them all... you are guaranteed to love them all. These guys are unlike anything else on the market. I make a special trip every time I'm in the low country, for a case.

What a fun surprise in our area! Butterducks offers a relaxing space to enjoy some good wine with even better friends. They have a wide variety of vintages and offer delish accouterments. Great spot for an afternoon refreshment.
Katy Baker — Google review
What a fun time can be had during a peaceful visit to Butterduck's. Nestled among high pines, in a quiet area among trees lies an attractive store that doubles as a winery production area.
Eighteen years of ups and downs have honed a finely operating winery, capably run by a limited team.
Started with fresh Georgia grown blueberries, grapes, peaches and more, the bottle array has grown to includes a full range of white wines (many gold metals!) And reds, such as Merlot, Cabernet and more (also medal-winning).
By the tasting flight or by the bottle you can choose fruit and cheese trays or other bites to accompany your wine selection. Head outside to the 'Duck Blind' covered patio and enjoy yourself. Solo or with tables of friends, you'll be at home, settling into a better frame of mind!

These ladies are wonderful! My mother has been several times, I've been with her a couple of times. They treat us so well. The wine is delicious, the combinations they put together for specials are so good, it's a lovely atmosphere.

Nestled amid tall pines just outside of Savannah in Guyton, GA, Butterducks offers an off the beaten path, peaceful experience with a variety of house made wines and sweet and savory snacks. Whether you like full and dry or light and sweet, this winery has a selection for every taste. Sit outside under their covered patio "Duck Blind" or in the open air pergola seating area and enjoy wine flights, glasses of your favorite selection, or grab a bottle to sip and enjoy. Goldfish crackers are served with every flight but be sure to grab a snack box offering fruit, cheese, crackers, preserves, honey, and summer sausage to compliment your beverages. The owners and staff are wonderfully kind and knowledgeable and will guide you through your visit from start to finish. Bonus points for contributing to a local animal rescue foundation! Prices for their crafts are excellent and their gift shop offers a unique selection of wine glasses, cheese boards, and accessories. All in all a great experience and our new favorite local spot. We live in Florida but visit several times a year so we will certainly be back!

What a fun place to grab a glass of wine and hangout on the patio! Loved tasting the different wines. We have been here several times and absolutely love it. It’s a great place to bring family and friends.

I have never been to a wine tasting that was so impersonal and had such lack of information on the wines sold. Walked in and was told choose x amount of wines to taste. Was not given an explanation of the wines. Simply what is written on the paper. Proceeded to sit outside with my wines samples. Had done a wine tasting in S. Carolina the day before and the lady explained each wine as she poured us a sample. They also gave us the glass to take home. Not sure why this place has such high ratings. If you are looking for a place with personal attention this is not it. Not going back.

My girlfriend and I have been to to a total of four wineries this year and Butterducks has the BEST wine by far! We tried 2 flights of 5 and there wasn't a single one we didn't enjoy. We ended up getting a glass of Sweet Blackberry and the Southern Duck Blush but recommend all of them.
We got two flights, two glasses of wine and a bottle all for $56. Compared to other wineries, it was an absolute steal.
The scenery wasn't what you'd get in North Georgia, but the staff was so much friendlier and more involved. Butterducks is a must visit for anybody in Savannah and surrounding areas.
This Georgia State Park is great! Fishing pond, kids Jungle Jim and 18 hole golf course with 30 RV camping spots. We'll be back because 2 nights wasn't enough time to do everything and I definitely want to play the golf course again whenever I get a chance. The park isn't huge, but it's a gem. Pictures are from the cart path that connects the front nine with the back nine. Go!

Super nice staff!! Bathrooms could use a little attention as far as spiders go but for the most part they were clean campground was quiet and very peaceful had a lot of fun with my son renting kayaks and going out on their little lake they have there miniature golf course is in good shape and was blown off no debris we did not visit the big golf course but I have a buddy that uses it all the time and loves it would highly recommend Jack Hill for a family getaway

This is a hidden gem. The park is so beautiful, serene, and uniquely different with updated cabins with all the amenities of a home away from home. The staff are friendly and the cabins are so spacious and modernized. I am looking forward to going back and having my 55th birthday party there because they have a group family building that can be rented. I highly reccommend Jack Hill State Park!!!

I have been to this wonderful property twice now for different family reunions, and I can say that this is a great place to go for a brief trip, or any sort of get together or celebration!
Amenities include cottages, a golf course, campsites with RV hookups, a pond where you can rent boats, a small nature trail, a splash pad, quite a few playgrounds, and shelters.
There's also a miniature golf course, but they are in the works of renovating it and making it bigger!

Beautiful small, State Parks. This is a great place for families to come with children. It is smaller than most state parks I've visited, but absolutely gorgeous views of the lake with lily pads, water lilies, trees, pretty flowers, lots of butterflies, and greenery. There are several campgrounds as well. I wouldn't recommend going out of your way to visit this park, but if you're in the area, it is a must stop location for a but of nature soul nourishment.

It is amazing what a few weddings per year can do to a state park. It is very obvious that this place is designed for large parties. There is a brand new mini putt putt, golf course, basketball courts, as well as expansions being done onto the welcome center. Some of the nicest pop pop golf. I’ve ever seen both private and at a state park! We did not get to play because it was after 5 PM, which is when they close services. There is an outdoor venue that is brand new, and it’s definitely designed to house weddings as it is picturesque and very clean.
There seems to be a very large amount of picnic areas and very few camper areas which is fine by us. The lake is very small and has one small boat launch but it’s really nothing to talk about. We did not play golf here but we’ve heard good things about it from the one person we met.
The park is directly inside the city of Reidsville. So you take a turn directly off the road pass a high school and then enter the state park. A little bit odd but still this place seems design for weddings lol not so much is a State Park. And it’s obvious they are making great money doing it.

Beautiful, clean cottage despite a few bugs and a deer sighting. Large showers/tubs and makeup washcloths were a plus.
Very peaceful and quiet. Main TV stopped working and third TV wouldn't turn on.
Unable to complete nature trail due to fallen trees and overgrown limbs.

It was a fun experience. The only problem I had were the bugs, and the cleaning supplies. I went to mop, and the bucket was filled with dirt and dust, and some small pieces of trash. There was some hair in the bathtub but I was able to clean it out. The bugs were very annoying. There was a spider in my bathroom. But overall it's a nice place to stay, would recommend.

Well maintained with plenty of playgrounds and picnic areas. Clean restrooms and the cabins are the perfect size for a thanksgiving retreat.
The Golf Club at Hilton Head Lakes is an excellent choice for casual golfers looking for a great course. Even without a tee time, the friendly staff, particularly Connie, made sure there was space available. The course itself was well-maintained and in good condition overall, with only one hole that had a slightly subpar green. This golf club is definitely worth considering for anyone planning to play while on vacation in HHI and will likely be a top choice next year as well.
Awesome golf facility and golf courses!! Went on a 4 day golf trip and this was by far the best greens and layout!! Add in the driving range and the par 3 course and this place is special. Great staff, and a really nice development to boot. Hope to go back and play it again, but please if you ever get the chance it is worth the play!

I played this course twice last week and enjoyed it very much..greens had just been punched so they were a bit bumpy but much improved since the last time I played in April..fairways were wonderful (some weeds but nothing that can’t be fixed). Back 9 is just a fun nine..no homes and you can only see the hole you’re playing…watch out for deer and wild turkeys…
Jeffrey Packard — Google review
My first time playing this course. I was pleasantly surprised. The staff was friendly and the clubhouse was very nice. The fairways are wide and well maintained. The greens were in good shape but appeared to be somewhat sparse in some areas. The course is one of the best values in the area compared to some other courses that are more expensive and not in as good as condition. I will be back for sure!

Great course for a casual golfer. We decided on a whim without a tee time to play golf while in HHI on vacation. Not many tee times were available but we called the course and Connie was super sweet. Took our name down, told us to just come on by and she’d squeeze us in. Showed up and she stuck to her promise. Got us right on the course. Thank you Connie!
The course was in really good shape. Really impressed. Only one hole had a green that was not quite up to standards (I think it was hole 5 or 6). Will definitely play again next year on vacation!
Chris Collichio — Google review
The course has gotten quite shabby. The grass is mostly brown from not watering, the pond edges are poorly maintained with the growth not being cut back. Since the new owners have taken over the course has gone downhill.
Skip — Google review
The staff were great, the fairways very well maintained but the greens were the worst I have ever seen. Not even playable. If this isn't improved, I can't see how the course can possibly stay open. Also, I overheard members talking about the greens and they were furious about the state of the them as well. They said that membership has dropped significantly since opening and I can see why.

This is the 2nd year's we played are LAVA Cup match here. 5 days of Ryder Cup match play. The course was in outstanding shape. The greens were firm fast and true. If you are in the area this is a must play. The reviews from early this year don't do the course justice. It's a fun track for any skill level. The staff was friendly and very helpful. I look forward to playing here again.
What a terrific local museum the Morris Center is. We stopped in on a weekday and were greeted by a very professional docent. We had a nice brief tour by the docent and were left to wander the exhibits. There is a rotating low country musical exhibit, a very interesting Civil War as well as Black Servicemen of WWII exhibit. Both exhibits were fascinating and educational. We loved how the local college students helped with the WWII exhibit. Definitely a fun stop in quaint Ridgeland.

This center is one of the most important in the area and needs more community support and engagement.
Very little other than wonderful things can be said for a small center in the middle of Ridgeland, South Carolina continuing the dialogue on Lowcountry heritage and making specialty programs available to children at no cost.
Events like the Meet and Greet for reptiles, Turtles, Lowcountry Raptors, and more require fair admission charges at most facilities offering the programming. MCfLH makes no such request, only recently requesting a small contribution ($10) for Marsh Tacky and the Oyster events that are more costly for them to put on. Horses don't barge from Daufuskie for free...
Admission is always free though and there is something for the whole family. Now, adults may find the three room building a bit small, but as a parent, I can say categorically that small and school aged children will happily spend an afternoon playing and learning. This is an honest treasure for the area that I hope is supported by municipal benefactors as well as patrons.
I feel ill equipped, on a personal basis, to speak to their efforts in supporting local African American history and heritage. But they do, and they have made it a clear focus, and it is important.

My Daughter and I went to the Wildlife Education Center at Georgia Southern University this past weekend and it was a wonderful time. I grew up here in around this town and have been on some trips with school when I was younger, so i knew what to expect. Its not a super large zoo or anything but an awesome learning environment. It has an outdoor Wetland Reserve with its own Waterfowl Pond, a beautiful water brook, and many other outdoor walking trails to see wildlife. There are some other indoor habitats as well. There are many other events and programs available at the Wildlife Education Center, but we went on Saturday to just walked through and took pictures! It was a great afternoon activity for us to go walk and take pictures!

My wife and I visited the Georgia Southern Center for Wildlife Education and we enjoyed our time here. I believe the program means well, they help rehabilitate and care for injured animals while providing education to the public about the native and invasive species of plants and animals in the area. Unfortunately I believe the animals and the facility grounds are under kept.

What a wonderful place to visit! The raptors are incredible. It's amazing to view these beautiful birds up close outdoors and indoors. The 30 minute "Birds of Prey" program was a great learning experience and led by two very smart young ladies who represent GA Southern so well. The center does an excellent job of fulfilling its mission by educating on the environment.

My class came here this morning to draw the wildlife and were greeted by the executive director Steve Hein. He toured us through the main building and into his office, where he has many beautiful portraits of Freedom and other works from his travels over the world. His passion for art and its connection with experiencing wildlife was so visible and his work was incredible to see. The wildlife center itself is so enjoyable and a great place to visit for the animals, but it was really nice to be greeted by someone excited about what they do. Thank you!

Family waterpark with many slides & pools, a lazy river, swim lessons & a dome for winter swimming.
Such a great first experience! We have 2, 4 and 7 year old boys and there was something for everyone. The only complaint is that Dippin Dots were sold out by 3pm and our kids had been really excited about them.

Best water park we’ve been to yet (NC SC GA)
They have all the attractions you’d want from slides to wave pool to several kiddie areas. Among all the other parks we’ve been to this by far the biggest and the most bang for your buck! It’s huge and filled with so much to do!
Food is high and that’s about the only con I had. If you’re willing to pay or wait it out you should be good.
All the kids enjoyed and the wife and I even enjoyed ourselves! We arrived at 10 am opening and left at 4-430.
No outside food, however you can leave out and eat and renter. We really enjoyed it and had a great time, they owe us nothing!
Parking is a little tight. Even the park and pond surrounding the water park is really nice as well. Lines moved out quickly, lifeguards and staff everywhere, and were great!!
There were 3 different stands for snacks, meals, food and drinks
Definitely coming back

This place is so cool. It has slide races a dark tunnel slide and 2 person slide and plenty of young kid water features. Wave pool also. Prices are fair and concessions are pretty good to. Also a bounus is you can pack your lunch and get stamped to go to park and eat and still reenter park yay 4 that. It has lazy river and surf wave pool too. Family fun all around and is great place to visit. Side note if inclimate weather happens to shut park down b4 4pm they do rain checks to let you come back again.

It's a decent water park for kids of all ages. The big pool goes to 12ft deep and has a diving board which is nice. On several occasions I've noticed that the water in the 5ft deep pool and the lazy river gets super warm and cloudy. Uncomfortably so.
Other that It's a good place to hang out for the day. Vendor food isn't terribly overpriced. Bring cash for the dip n dots/snow cones.

I think this is a great place to take the kids to cool off in the summer. I feel like the price is a little high considering the lack of organization and coordination of the staff. There is inadequate parking. It seems that the staff should be trained a little better and have a better communication system for guests arriving for general admission vs. Parties. But overall it's a nice place to visit. I'll try to get more images of the various activities available on our next visit. Yes, I bought season passes.

My kids(11 and 8) loved it, most of the staff were very friendly. I wasnt allowed to bring the jelly beans for my hypoglycemic child but instructed to leave them in the car and exit to eat them there when needed. I went back to the car and snuck them in in my suit top because that's not how hypoglycemia works.
Unfortunately, the cabana I paid $100 to rent for the day was lacking the two lounge chairs as advertised online. I was looking forward to the lounge chairs for the two youngest of our group. They would have had a place to nap but we ended up not even having enough seating for all 6 of the people in my group. The locking box wasn't in our cabana so a staffer had to pull one from another cabana. There's nearly no organization of the line for slides or entry and exit of the lazy river. Throughout the day there were 10+ people with tubes standing on the stairs at the lazy river. Clear signage and verbal instruction from lifeguards could improve the safety and entrace/exiting of the lazy river. My 8 year old ended up being separated from me because someone bumped into her and knocked her into the flow when we were trying to enter and I couldn't get through immediately to be with her. Good thing she's a strong swimmer. Similar chaos was experienced on the stairs for the 3 large slides. People without tubes were almost constantly pushing their way past everyone standing in line to get to the top. Again, clear signage or verbal instruction could help here. There was an employee sitting at the bottom of the stairs, but she was almost invisible and had no interest in checking anyone's height or instructing anyone how the line should function. Similar chaos was experienced at the snack shack. Lines were very long and the only signs were difficult to see for all of the people in line. I waited 81 minutes for our food, good thing I snuck my child's jelly beans in. Overall, it's not an awful park and is probably pretty great if you live there. For us, this was a lot of chaos and unnecessary stress on top of a 2 hour drive.

Great place nice staff cabana's available. Wave pool, lazy river and plenty of areas for younger kids. They have concession stands and a little pizzeria. A Cabana is $100 but it is worth it if you have a family because of the privacy and you get 8 drink vouchers which is a $30 value at least but overall a great place and we will continue to go back as much as possible

If your family needs a place to cool down, this is it! They have several slides, water playgrounds, a lazy river, the flow rider and a wave pool. We have season passes, which is the most economical way to go if you plan to visit often during the summer. They offer local teacher and military discounts. We arrive earlier in the week to avoid some of the crowds that seem to come in closer to the weekends.

The cypress trees in the water are one of the more picturesque lakes in the entire state of Georgia. Lots of kayakers and canoe rentals in the water and it’s definitely worth taking a boat out. The covered bridge is very beautiful and there is a built-in museum where you get to walk along the covered bridge and see how the mill used to work. The staff inside the welcome center was very pleasant and extremely nice, luckily, I have not encountered poor staff at any of the state parks in our years journey to complete all state parks in one year. There was a ton of people here on a Sunday in June in the middle of the day… Which is strange because it’s so hot! There is a large group building right at the dam that is being expanded and renovated looks like a very large center is going in. Two decent trails to hike as well each about 3 miles.

Awesome camping trip. We enjoyed the park and the cleanliness of the campground. We plan to come here again with kayaks. If you don’t own a kayak, you can rent one. There are a couple of docks to fish from. We camped in campsite 7, which was awesome. We had friends camping in campsite 6, and we had a path between the two. There was also a path down to the water. It rained some while we were here, but the sandy campsites held up well. The bath house was clean as well. They even had a family shower room that was easy to bathe kids in. Very, very nice park! This place was awesome! We visited on Monday, February 14, 2022.
The park is very clean and very pretty. First off we went to the mill. It was a nice sunny day there and it was amazing! The 1880's mill looked glamorous with the water and the 15 Mile Creek. The mill is called Parrish mill and it opened in the 1880's making corn. It used hydro power to work and grind the corn.
The lake with all the trees were very pretty as well. I found a duck in there and we took some nice pictures of him. He was a white duck with an orange beak. We loved him.
There is also a fishing area if you like doing that. Also there is a lot of kayaking and boating here. I don't personally kayak at all, but I gotta say that is place is a very good place to kayak. I highly recommend this place for it.
Anyway the park office had a gift shop and some restroom. Each were clean and nearly decorated. The staff in there was really nice and helpful while buying a parking pass.
Anyway, I highly recommend this place for sightseeing and kayaking.

I recently visited a charming little park that I thoroughly enjoyed. The park is located by Parrish Mill pond of 15 Mile Creek, and the highlight of the park is the unique combo mill and covered bridge from 1880 that has been nicely restored. The museum sign over the doors adds a historical touch to the place.
However, I do have a couple of complaints. Although Georgia took the effort to install glass windows to view the operational part of the mill, the glass was dirty from the inside, and there were no lights inside the room. Additionally, there were no display or historical signs, and the rooms were virtually empty, despite having the largest windows. Even the auxiliary diesel added at the beginning of the last century and one of the turbines on the outside had no information available.
To get a better understanding of the history of the park, I recommend picking up a printed history from the gift shop first. Speaking of the gift shop, it was pretty useless in terms of commodities for campers, and there were few snacks or drinks available. They only had a small assortment of souvenir trinkets.
Fortunately, the park offers canoe and kayak rentals, although reservations are needed during peak season. There are also hiking trails available to explore, and the pond is a typical Cyprus Pond, home to a variety of animals. The park also provides RV and cottage rentals, as well as primitive and hook-up campsites. Additionally, there are picnic areas, tables, and an event center with a kitchen. Overall, it was a lovely place to visit, and I would recommend it to anyone looking to enjoy nature and history.

We loved our stay at this park. We stayed at lot 19 which was slightly strange that we shared a drive with the next lot, a drive through. THE camp hosts are very nice and attentive. As soon as someone pulls out they are tidying up and getting it ready for the next camper. The bathrooms are probably the cleanest you will find in any state park right now. Only suggestion is to put a handheld shower in the handicapped stall. They kayaking is the most fun of all. The lake with it's forest of cypress trees is beautiful and the yellow trail is really enjoyable and cool. We will undoubtedly return just for the lake. There is a very nice, large playground for the kids and the entire park is dog-friendly.

Well, Spring is here and the sun gets pretty high in the sky by the time y'all open da doors to yer restrooms! Please consider opening at least at sunrise each day or don't be surprised if ye find good honest citizen travelers watering yer trees behind yer picnic areas. Ha, Thanks for the Great Welcome Center when ye do finally open yer doors.

This is so cool, well to me, we stopped on a Sunday and the man working inside said it was the longest active attended rest area, for something like 60 years there has always been someone there with a sweet southern twang ready to greet visiting folks.
The facility is dated which is cool, today we'd call it vintage. But nothing's out of order. The restroom is very clean. The parking lot is free of debris and in good condition, and the picnic areas are nice and shady.

This place is a must stop! When we stop they were closed but I can only imagine how awesome the inside was! I didn't get to use the facilities either because they were locked but at the edge of the parking lot there was a nice view while I visited the bushes!

Just passing thru on the way back to Georgia from a business trip and passed this historic welcome center, the oldest operating state welcome center on the continent. Loved the classic 50s architechture, the pink Georgia Marble walls, and the friendly docent who gave us the full skinny on the place. Also enjoyed the free Cokes.

Every time I'm in the area I stopped and get the amazing beef jerky that they sell in this place along with other small knick knacks and items and the people that run it are very friendly and very knowledgeable about the area as well

Cool old visitor's center, very clean and well maintained, with very friendly hosts. A welcome sight when using the older US highways.
Protected area of springs popular for hiking & kayaking, home to turtles, alligators & campsites.
What an absolutely wonderful park! We camped for 4 days and enjoyed every minute of it.
The staff is very friendly and informative. The bathrooms, store and hiking trails were very clean. We were able to fish and caught several catfish and a crappie. We were able to see a lot of wildlife and even had a great view of the Lunar Eclipse.
Would definitely recommend this park for a day trip or a week 🤗

Calm, quiet, and clean. The springs are beautiful - water is so crystal clear you can watch the fish and turtles swimming around. A beautifully preserved natural water source. The actual park is very nice although it’s small - only one campground loop and not many paved roads for biking. There are several trails through the woods though which can be done on a bike, though they’re lovely for walking. We even saw some gators in the lake!

This park is isolated and quiet. An introverts dream vacation. People come here to be left alone and enjoy the peace. Staff is friendly and helpful. The campground is small with only 25 sites, but well spaced out with a bathhouse that looks new and is well kept.
Be advised of the alligators. Seriously.
The locals come to enjoy the splash pad. It's quite nice.

This is a nice little state park. I spent one night in the campground and was very comfortable. The bathroom was quite clean and relatively modern, and the hiking trails provided a nice diversion for a few hours. It's quite close to Augusta, although cell phone coverage was somewhat limited. I would gladly stay here again.

We had an amazing stay this past weekend at Magnolia SP. We are tent campers and were able to reserve the pioneer site for three days. The shelters, cold showers, and outhouse were in good shape. The pond was perfect for kayaking and there are plenty of trails throughout the park that are perfect for novice hikers with little elevation. Little/no cell service and you can hear US 25 at night were the only detractors. The staff was awesome.

Cold week of camping. Plenty of space between camp sites and site 5 was level. Hosts are very friendly and eager to assist if needed. Clean and warm bathhouses. Enjoyed the hiking trails and our neighbors. We enjoyed reading about the history of the area. Thank you for a great camping week!

This was our first trip to this park. They have the biggest campsites of any place we’ve stayed! There is probably 35-50’ between each site. There’s a nice splash pad as well as good fishing for the kids. Be looking out for the gators. There are some large ones here. There’s at least two 10’ or bigger. We brought our golf cart instead of a car because we were only there 3 nights. If you’re going to need something. Better bring a vehicle because the store is small and not much for essentials like food and hygiene products. There’s a town a few miles away. They have cabins that look very nice if you’re not camping. We will stay there again. Georgia state parks are all great for camping! We’ve now stayed at 7 or 8 here in southern Georgia.

Magnolia Springs State Park is hidden gem that I want say awful to keep the crowds of visitors away. But I can't it is AWESOME! The historical importance to what happen there is so important to know and learn from. The beauty of this little park is something to enjoy and savor. There is no swimming because of the alligators but you can paddle your kayak or canoe and fish in the lake. There are rental canoes and paddle boat available. The Park staff is great, everyone was very friendly and went out of their way to help make our stay a pleasant experience. So begrudgingly I highly recommend this great little State Park.

The park is as beautiful as ever.
8 foot alligator sunning on the bank. Sure do miss the aquarium, it was so special when I was a child.
Camping sites all appear very nice. The springs are crystal clean.

A very nice place. A Clean friendly and well maintained park.
Camping nice cabins group pavilions with good kitchens. Fishing paddle boats places for kids. You feel safe there. I would recommend Magnolia Springs Park to anyone looking for a place for a family reunion, wedding school or group function.

We camped in a tent. The first night was awful because of the rain. After that, it was great. Kids had fun at the playground and on the trails. Saw alligators and enjoyed canoeing on the little lake. Had a great time!

very nice campground. spacious and quite. bathhouse is excellent. rode our bikes on the trails and they had infilled wet or rough sections with sand. pushing thru sand on a bike ain't easy, try something else. while more $ than COE and Nat Forest sites. way cheaper than KOA. the cottages look gorgeous for larger groups.

Went to see this park to check out the campground for future visit. Beautiful Park. The campground is nice. Not overly large. The lake is beautiful. The cabins look very nice from the outside. Some look newer than others, from the outside. Looking forward to going back sometime and staying there.
Phinizy Swamp Nature Park is a beautiful area that includes both forest and swampland. The park features multiuse trails and a science facility where classes and events are held. Visitors can enjoy the diverse wildlife in the park, including alligators, red wing blackbirds, egrets, and ospreys nesting on top of an airport wind monitoring tower. The indoor animal displays are also well worth a visit.
Great nature walk for the family. Some of the trails are wooden platforms, making it easy for mobility of strollers and wheelchairs. Playground area for the kids, which mine really enjoyed. Next to the playground is a camp fire pit. Be sure to bring water as there are no water points outside of the restrooms. The boys and girls scouts have done a great job contributing to maintain the grounds. Great opportunity for volunteer work.

This park is quite huge. It has so many ponds (or cells) to walk around and take in the beauty of nature. There are plenty of wading birds, tons of butterflies (black swallowtails are currently in record number) and song birds. My favorite was the Painted Bunting. There are plenty of places to sit and take in the scenery and there are bathroom facilities in certain areas. But beware of huge alligators blocking the trails; some are not afraid of humans and will not move out of the way.

A wonderful park with different trails to explore. I went on a Wednesday afternoon, parking is easily available and it’s free. I did only 2 trails, both were easy and unique in its own way. Not many people on the trails, also feels little spooky. Absolutely recommend spending time here listening to bird chirps and feeling that forest breeze. Didn’t found an alligator but saw a beautiful owl, wasn’t able to take picture of the owl but I’ll add some pictures of the park below. Overall 8/10.

Love the paintings and information on the three signs I saw. Relaxed to music from Billy S before enjoying the Earth Day riding tour through the man-made ponds, including aeration areas and pumps. Among other smaller creatures we saw alligators, red wing blackbirds, egrets, and a huge 15 year or so old osprey nest on top of the airport wind monitoring tower, but didn't see the ospreys. We also enjoyed the indoor animal displays and the boardwalk over part of the swamp. Very well done event.

We went for the annual Easter egg hunt and it was our first time visiting. Beautiful hike through the swamp to get to the egg party. Sounds of nature all around and we even saw a snake (eastern swamp snake I think) swimming through the water—so cool! The Easter egg hunt, games, and crafts were a lot of fun. Our favorite part was the handmade felt puppets we got and little homemade basket with candy. We didn’t have time to hike the entire park but we can’t wait to go back and explore more. Magical piece of property.

Love the diversity of the area. Saw lots of beautiful birds, trees, butterflies etc. many of the boards on the walkways and bridges are rotten clear through so be very cautious. I hope they inspect the high up spots really well for safety as the boardwalks and lower bridges are rotten and unsafe.

Beautiful walk and educational experience
Park needs work on the trails and better signage!!! We got turned around a couple of times. Walked for over two hours and 4.5 miles. Mark the cells too. There were trail names NOT on the map. Confusing for people traveling from out of the state.

Beautiful park with a surprising array of animals. Some of blue trail needs to be repaired. Wear waterproof shoes! Saw a pair of bald eagles and many other pretty birds. Even am alligator was out and it was a cold day.

Phinzy swamp is of course a swamp surrounded by walking trails and play areas. My family enjoyed our time there, watching families and couples explore. The water bird population was a pleasure to observe and we saw the largest alligator I have seen in the wild which was a real thrill though the gator seemed contentedly immobile. We had a great time and look forward to exploring the full trail.

While most of us normally don't get excited about visiting a place with "swamp" in its name, Phinizy Center offers some amazing hiking paths that take us through some remarkably beautiful wetlands. During my visit today, I saw an egret, a turtle, and quite a few dragonflys enjoying their Friday at home. I also had to catch my jaw multiple times after it dropped upon seeing and hearing the unique beauty of this "swamp".
If you like to do more outside, you'll love Phinizy Center! And if you like science, come here to learn about their work to protect local water quality and wildlife.

Lots of critters and wildlife to see. Nice amenities like bathrooms, water bottle filling stations, and a visitors center campus. Definitely parts of the trail less traveled in need of some TLC, but considering the location and size the park is well loved and cared for.

It is a beautiful place to go for a hike with your dog. But be careful of the alligators. We encounter one just resting on the trail. He did not move at all. We turned back and chose another trail.

This is a beautiful area to walk with family, friends, or significant others. There are lots of trails to choose from. The boardwalks wind through the woods, around and along water features, and branch off into pavilions and seating areas. There is a nature center and play area. Chances are high that you'll see some wildlife. We often spot herons, ducks, turtles, snakes, and alligators. When the weather is warm, you should watch where you step. Posting below some pics of shy snakes we passed on a day when the weather was in the 70s.

Just love Phinizy so much. When I lived in Augusta, I would come here regularly for walks and to volunteer. If you're planning a visit, look at their website to see if there are events you might want to attend. Otherwise, come out for a hike, it's beautiful and you might catch a glimpse of a gator.

Went on the full moon hike and it was amazing! Beautiful, saw Gators, egrets, cranes, different kinds of frogs (like the regular ones you see around here, tree frogs) and I saw the biggest bullfrog I've seen in my life! The pictures of the moon look great and you can see the reflection in the water perfectly. Love this place, will be back, do recommend!!

Nice place for a hike , with great view and wild life to watch.
Unfortunately, due to the cold weather, we couldn't see any Aligators. Hopefully, better luck next time
Redcliffe Plantation State Historic Site is a renowned 19th-century residence and museum in Augusta, Georgia. This storied plantation offers educational tours that delve into the cultural aspects of Southern life during that era, particularly the institution of slavery. The estate, also known as Redcliffe, features a Greek Revival-style house with historical significance, designed by Louis Berckmans. Visitors can explore the site's well-documented history and gain valuable insights from knowledgeable park rangers.
If you have a chance to stop by and do the tour of the grounds and home it is totally worth it. The tour guide Nora was absolutely amazing and very informative. Everything in the home is original and they're not fake or substitutes. It's the true history of artifacts and it is like a viewing through the family's generations. I definitely recommend it!

This place was so touching and amazing. I was so impressed with how they have retained documents, handwritten ledgers and letters, and the history of the plantation, the family and the slaves. The slave family generations that stayed on after emancipation as laborers for decades was very fascinating. I was saddened and had a heavy heart as I saw the ledger with slave names and their dollar values listed. It is so amazing to see how they considered other human beings as property, not people. I can't fathom how another human can be seen as property. It is so good that they have preserved this type of history for the education of future generations. We can never allow this history to repeat itself. Amazing place!

Cool plantation! Free entry and parking. $10 for a guided tour which is the only way to see the inside of the house. But you can walk into the visitor center and the enslaved quarters and around the property for free. Gorgeous trees all around and history on the plaques inside the visitor center and enslaved quarters and around the property.

We absolutely loved this state park and I think it doesn't get enough recognition. We didn't know about the guided tour so didn't get to go in the mansion, but we will be back! You MUST do the geocache here!

My second visit a late weekday afternoon one on one tour with a very knowledgeable Ranger. The history of the site is well documented for all to scrutinize and learn from. The multiple brides being photographed on the grounds bares witness to the beauty of the location

Awesome place to visit. The docent, Jordyn, was very knowledgeable. It is a quick 90 minute tour and all your questions will get answered. The buildings are in good shape and contain many artifacts. The site is run by the park service. There is no attempt to minimize the reality of slavery and the descriptions of the founding plantation owner can be quite explicit. To include his manual for punishing and his mortifying views of siring children on his young female slaves, and his acknowledged sexual abuse of his own nieces. This, from a former South Carolina governor and United States Senator. Highly recommend the tour and we were very glad we had Jordyn as our guide.

Had an amazing guided tour with our group. A big thank you to our very knowledgeable and engaging guide, Matthew. Having someone with such a great passion for history and the eagerness to share it with the public made everything we looked at come alive. It is highly recommended to go with the guided tour, as this is the only way to view the inside of the house.

Redcliffe Plantation is a great historic site. The first thing we did when we got there is go on the mansion tour. Our tour guide was helpful and explained to us the history of the place and showed us older phots that were taken in the 1800s. The mansion is beautiful and I definitely recommend the tours. After that, we got our park stamp at the office. The office was well-kept and there were 2 rangers inside. Then, we left the office to walk the trail, even though it was raining. The trail is open and very easy to follow, with beautiful views throughout. We saw a velvet ant, which is a bright-red beautiful wingless wasp, however they can sting, so be careful. Then, we kept walking to the pond and saw a large dragonfly which I quickly caught just to get a picture, then released it. The pond was beautiful and the best part of it was the thousands of tiny frogs hopping around it, everywhere! They were no longer than 1 inch long and there were seriously thousands of them. Overall, this place is a great place for anyone - history fans, nature lovers, hikers, entomologists... anyone!

Beautiful historical site that is well worth the stop. We didn't have time for the tour but you can still walk around the beautiful grounds and enjoy the serenity. Nice rangers in the visitors center!

We enjoyed our tour and history lessons with Ranger Brandon. He eloquently delivered a wealth of information about the plantation and the families that lived and worked there for more than 100 years. The tour is primarily focused on the house, slave quarters and the people and relationships of the ones that inhabited them. Some of the stories are jaw dropping. We walked the entire grounds including the trail through the woods, magnolia alley, stables and visited the store. They have a nice assortment of souvenirs.
