Lovely park, quiet camping, nice cabins. Bathrooms were clean and heated. Trails were enjoyable.

This was my first visit to this location (from St. Louis) and we had a great time. I rented a tent site and the lot was even and shaded, seemed like most were. Plenty of space also. There is a side that had a neat playground for kiddos, walking trails, and the workers were wonderful. Bathrooms and showers were not too far from any site and clean. My pup loved it as well (just make sure they have their tick treatments, we all found a few so be sure to check yourself too!). Overall it’s a nice place to camp and we will definitely be back!

Wonderful place to get away for a quiet weekend. The state park campground is well kept and laid out in a user friendly way. . A nice swimming beach is nearby and the Florida winery with live entertainment made for a pleasant afternoon.

This is our home away from home. We started camping at Puma campground in 2021 and have tent camped 5 times since then for as long as two weeks at a time. We love the campsites and especially the camp hosts, Don & Teresa. They are so helpful, always ready to be of assistance. Shirley is great too, but Don is particularly on top of things. The shower house is always in great shape We plan on continuing to camp here a few times each year as long we can. We are both in our early 70s. Thank you for great experiences.
Michael Dunkle — Google review
We stayed at the puma site section, Shirley was so helpful for giving us good details on things we wanted to do and had planned so we knew what to expect! She also was around for anything we needed! Along with her amazing personality! She made our stay way more memorable & special for us and the kids! We will definitely be back again hopefully before the end of fall!
Also very trustworthy site was able to be gone for lengthy periods of the day and our camp was unbothered and it’s absolutely beautiful!

We were in the special use area with a large group of a nearly 70 campers. It's not a bad setup, but there is very little water access for potable drinking water, and also the dumpsters are a long way away. There really should be another dumpster on this end of the park.

Fantastic family (& pets) adventure! First time we've been and we've already planned or next trip back! This is a weekend thing because there's SO MUCH to do and see within a small 25 mile radius: hiking, fishing, boating, historical landmarks, rare indigenous birds, deer and more! Gorgeous views from many vantage points with plenty of room, parking, path/trail access and many landmarks to learn about.

We were wondering around Mark Twain lake this morning and happened to run in to this amazing birth place of Samuel Clemens (Mark Twain). They have a whole museum full of his original books, belongings and his actual birth house. It sure was a pleasant surprise..
Udara Ranasinghe — Google review
Mark Twain State Park is 2,775 acres and offers beautiful scenery, and access to Mark Twain Lake. The park is also adjacent to the Mark Twain Birthplace State Historic Site, which has a museum dedicated to the iconic author. Available activities at this park include swimming, boating, fishing, hiking, camping, cabin rentals, and picnicking.
The scenery is awesome, and includes bluffs which overlook Mark Twain Lake.
We really enjoyed our visit to this state park, and highly recommend it.

We loved hiking along the lake. Beautiful views. We liked that we could hike from our campsite. Not too steep but after tripping over roots and rocks, we were glad that we took our walking sticks.
Antiques-filled rooms & suites in a Gilded Age retreat offering guided house tours, plus free Wi-Fi.
If you have never gone to the Rock Cliff Mansion you need to at least go and take the tour it is so interesting and so beautiful and the gentleman who run the bed and breakfast and take care of the old mansion are just so incredible! We've been there twice will be there again we want to stay in every room eventually we've gotten two down I think five to go LOL ❤️

My wife and I had a wonderful experience. The owners are gracious hosts. Juan was our tour guide and he was knowledgeable and witty. Hannibal must be extremely grateful that the owners have and will continue to restore this wonderful mansion. We both highly recommend touring or staying the night. We decided to spend the night, we will be returning.
Chuck Horton — Google review
I cannot possibly recommend this experience highly enough. Our hosts were informative, helpful, and thoroughly delightful. The mansion is effectively a time capsule to the Edwardian era, and staying in one of the suites is experiencing the very best of that time. Book early, because there's a very limited number of suites and they do book up for the season quickly.
Jessica Orsini — Google review
The photo of this historic mansion online is a computer image of what it will look like someday(?), but looks more like the photo below in real life, this is blatant deception. The "couple" running it were knowledgeable enough for a tour by Juan but the other guy was a bit autistic and rigid(recovering lawyer). Wine and cheese and Breakfast were top notch, but overall experience was a bit creepy. Be prepared to walk up three long flights of stairs to get to the room, which was underwhelming, with a small loud A/C window unit keeping us up most of the night in a creaky old double bed. Not worth $200 a night for us. They best stick with day tours until they finish restoring this diamond in the rough.
Dale Rohling — Google review
We had a wonderful stay, met 2 really nice couple that were also staying. The hosts were wonderful and made an excellent breakfast. We also enjoyed dinner at LaBinnah Bistro that was recommended by our hosts.
Meredith W — Google review
Juan is an amazing tour guide, explained everything so we'll that's he answered almost all of our questions before we even asked them. We will definitely come back. The mansion is fabulous and the restoration will be wonderful once it is finished. I'd love to come back and stay in the B&B, that would be fantastic!
Andrea Michalik — Google review
If you like visiting old houses. This is very much worthwhile. Outside is not restored as the pics show. But inside is very interesting. Tour guide was great. They are trying to restore a very interesting building and covid slowed it down. Very interesting and educational.
Dennis Crosser — Google review
Absolute MUST-visit. The mansion is opulent, gorgeous, stunning. everything you think of when someone says "Gilded Age." The two proprietors are so passionate, and knowledgeable about the details of the house and its history, loved the tour and interacting with them- they're such an interesting and personable pair. The breakfast is excellent, staying here in this rich house full of such history as if I were really in the late 19th century is a experience I don't think I can find anywhere else.
Yes, the plumbing works excellently.
Irisa Mahaparn — Google review
It was a beautiful old house, and they are working very hard to restore it to it's prev. glory. The outside looks pretty rough, but inside is much better. You can even stay there through ARBNB. Our guide was very knowledgeable about the house, but talked to us like we were a bunch of rude children. He was obviously in a big hurry, as he rushed us through at every turn, said we could ask questions, but acted annoyed when we did.
MONA — Google review
Where else can you stay INSIDE a museum! Absolute true to 1900's amenities, this is not simply a "stay", but an experience! Juan & Warren are attentive and gracious hosts, and join guests for Wine & cheese on the porch each evening. Breakfasts are gourmet and HUGE!.. Served in decadent surroundings with beautiful appointments!
If you can, this is a MUST stay for responsible adults.

My daughter and I went to Rockcliffe Mansion yesterday (April 25, 2022) with Juan as our guide. First of all, Juan was a delight to listen to and he answered all of our questions. Rockcliffe Mansion is a national treasure. This house and property, which is a work of art with historical importance, should receive some sort of government financial assistance in their efforts to restore this magnificent edifice. It is full of beauty in various forms such as the stained glass window by Tiffany of New York. The restoration of the observation room is just incredible. The restored gaming and dance room is wonderful. The bedrooms look so inviting. Thank you, Juan!
Charles Davis — Google review
We took the tour and our guide was Juan. Juan was very rude pointing out that we used the wrong door to enter the mansion. The outside was a disappointment as it looks rundown and we wondered if it was even open !! The inside was very nice, and you were allowed to take photos if you could take them quickly as Juan hurriedly went through the rooms and I was not able to even look around as he was already in the next room waiting on us looking at his watch all the time. We have toured other places and this was a big disappointment.
Mary Tutte — Google review
The Mansion is being renovated on the outside, but the inside is amazing, I would definitely recommend taking the tour with the owner. It is also a B&B, so you can stay in one of the rooms.
Darion Shenyer — Google review
Do your self and your significant other a favor and step back in time at Rockcliffe Mansion. It's like no other place - the experience allows one to see this authentic in every detail turn of the century treasure of a mansion. This was a life changing experience. I now aspire to buy and restore, nurture a location like this one. It has been excellent, incredible, and can't wait to go back. I felt like it was an incredible tour, and knowledgeable owners treated like family outstanding thanks so much!
Mr. Brown — Google review
Beautiful mansion of a by gone era. Finished in 1902 it was lived in until the twenties. Then it was abandoned until the 60s. Continually under renovation as upkeep on the outside the inside is beautiful and 99percent original to the house. Tours happen every day but stay there if you can. The owners allow guests to wander through the house and will gladly answer your questions.
Pam Ninness — Google review
Warren kept me thoroughly intrigued the whole tour. There was so much to cover, yet he did an excellent job hitting the high points. I've seen many old mansions, Biltmore, Newport mansions, etc. This rivaled them all. Somehow the furniture was much more interesting than I have found in others. I believe seeing some wear and tear made you feel the presence of the Cruikshanks more so than models. The old photos and art were also fascinating. Worth the admission, which is helping a very hardworking couple renovate the home.
Julie Allison — Google review
We were there for the tour and really enjoyed it. The tour guide was very knowledgeable about the home and grounds.
They have done a wonderful job of refurbishing the property.
Very nice.
Tim K Midwest — Google review
Words can't describe how breathtaking this piece of history is. The work that has already been done to restore this work of art is exceptional. The owner has taken the time to research every part of the property making the tour very fascinating. I can't wait to go back and see the progress made on the exterior restoration. Highly recommend for anyone who loves history, art, and architectural masterpieces.
Robin Slaughter — Google review
A stunning example of 19th century opulence, the Rockcliff is well worth a visit. It’s beautiful and the attention to detail in the restoration and preservation is amazing. As a place to stay, we found it a bit too museum-like making it difficult to fully relax. The window unit in the Governess room AC had to roar full blast to keep the room cool and the bed was the bounciest I’ve been on - the slightest movement was magnified making sound sleep fleeting. If I had it to do over, I’d take the tour and stay elsewhere.

Great statues to see & especially in the town that made them famous. Written, of course, by Mark Twain! He'd be really thrilled to see these characters!

Another of Hannibal's monuments to Samuel Clemens' characters from two of his beloved and most well-known works.
Michael Hammock — Google review
Mark Twain (Samuel Clemens) grew up here in Hannibal and there's no missing his influence on the town and the town's interest in him. They are absolutely capitalizing on his upbringing here with a museum, statues, and all sorts of structures named after the man who some would call the greatest American writer.
Tucked at the bottom of Cardiff Hill at the intersection of North and Main Street, this statue of two of Twain's most famous characters. Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn's adventures took place in the fictional town of Saint Petersburg but it was very definitely Hannibal. The statues are by artist Frederick C. Hibbard and worth a stop as you're visiting the city.
Bruce K. — Google review
Hannibal was such a great little stop! I love the history and haunted stories! If you love the idea of the Mississippi River and Huck Finn & Tom Sawyer adventures with Mark Twain's amazing writing of his childhood turned into what it has you will thuroughly enjoy this quaint little town. For people who love the idea of spooky places, haunted stories , good food Mark Twain's Brewery!!
Marlena Hages — Google review
There are 244 stair steps from the statue to the lighthouse, not counting the sidewalk areas that you follow to the next set of stairs. If I remember correctly there are 3 sets of stairs. My 10 year old wasn't happy with me about all those stairs but he needed the exercise and built some leg muscle in process.
The Mark Twain Boyhood Home & Museum showcases eight buildings, displaying the original home of the author and remnants of the town from his era. Visitors can tour two homes where Twain lived and Laura Hawkins' house, who served as inspiration for Becky Thatcher. Additionally, visitors can view Norman Rockwell's paintings at the museum gallery and a separate space that houses the complete collection of works based on Huckleberry Fin and Tom Sawyer's adventures by Norman Rockwell.
This is the town where the most celebrated of all American writers lived. It was a surreal experience to stand in front of Tom Sawyer's whitewashed fence, hunch down into Huck Finn's little home, stand in front of the drug store, and walk into the relatively posh Beck Thatcher's stately house. The life of Mark Twain himself is very well told in the exhibits. The museum is small but well-kept and informative.
Praghalathan Kanthakumar — Google review
Cute experience. For the price of admission you get the family museum, to tour Tom Sawyer's house, the boyhood home of Mark Twain, Becky's house, Twain's father's office and a drug store. Plus they have a separate museum space that houses the complete collection of Norman Rockwell works based on the adventures of Huckleberry Fin and Tom Sawyer. Remember to spin the wheel in the drugstore to see how you would've died in Twain's day lol

This place was amazing! We learned so much. There was sooo much to see! The staff were really friendly and the gift shop had lots of items and was actually reasonably priced!! This was a side adventure while we were visiting our son and we spent 3 hours because we just wanted to see it all! Worth the entry fee for sure!!
NaTasha Haney — Google review
The museum manages to show very well the atmosphere in which Mark Twain grew up and trained as a man and writer. Very friendly staff, very interesting souvenir shop, atmosphere close to the reality of those times. And if the museum impressed me a lot, I can say that the town of Hannibal did it even more. I felt like I was in a Hollywood movie setting: beautiful and quiet houses, small but very attractive shops, the impressive and chic waterfront of the Mississippi River.
BogdanM — Google review
The Mark Twain Boyhood Home and Museum is a must see for a trip to Hannibal. This is not just one house, but a complex of houses that you will visit. There is a recreation of "Huckleberry's" house, or at least the real-life person he was based on.
You will also visit the Drug Store the family lived at. If you visit the drug store don't leave out a visit to the second floor!
This is a trip worthy of a history buff or someone into literature. I gave it four stars because the tour was completely self-guided. The home of the greatest storyteller in America should have a guided tour option.
Jason Hill — Google review
Loved this! Any fan of Mark Twain should take advantage of the $12 pass that includes several of these nearby museums.
Ryan Smith — Google review
Very extensive self-guided walking tour spanning multiple blocks. You have access to the home and can step into the rooms to see the displays behind glass. There also were tons of plaques and videos to watch.
The museum at the end was also selling original parts and pieces to Grant’s Drugstore after the 2019 remodel when I was here in the summer of 2022.
Don’t skip by some of the old general stores while your downtown. Tons of great stuff to pick up there!
Tazz — Google review
Lots to see here in the museum and my focus today was the gift shop. I'm quite familiar with Mark Twain's story and have encountered him in my travels. I was in Virginia City Nevada and spotted the marker at the Territorial Enterprise where he wrote about the the bustling frontier-mining town in 1862.
Lots of trinkets and mementoes in the gift shop (you do not need to buy a museum ticket to visit) and I picked up a handful of postcards to send back to my friends.
Bruce K. — Google review
Well developed museum that tells the story of Mark Twain. Clean, neat informative interpretative center that was easy to follow. Good investment in modern displays. Great value.
Tom Kelly — Google review
Very nicely done with lots of information spread out over several houses. And the fact that the museum is set or framed in a downtown that is a step back in time, makes it all the better!

The breakfast burger was delicious, egg well fried and the root beers are always on point. Nothing has changed over the last 7 years.

Passing By Hannibal We Had To Stop At The Mark Twain Boyhood Home In The Small Town Of Hannibal, Missouri. Nice And Well Maintained Ground’s, With So Much Information, Very Interesting Place To Visit. We Really Enjoyed Our Stop. Just Wish To Had More Time To Explore This Little Town. We Will Next Time. Highly Recommended.

Was so nice. I loved it. Able to imagine such a much better simpler time, walked down to the water too, wish there were steam boats running

The town of Hannibal was so enjoyable! Rich in history and story! The city has done a remarkable job with displays and details in Sam's life. The restoration and preservation in this town is beautiful. Plan 2 hours easy to read and listen and walk around. There are steps in some areas. We will return again to this town.
Diane C — Google review
Absolutely a wonder to behold. I haven't been here for a decade or so but I couldn't wait to bring my own kids here to learn about Mark Twain. It was a beautiful day and the tour was leisurely and peaceful. So much to learn and such a fascinating man to learn about. We toured the whole piece from the introduction area through the final museum and it wasn't too pricey and worth every penny.
There is a lot of reading or you can sit through video productions, your choice.
Multiple gift shops through the tour so don't feel you have to hit the first one because there will be more and they hold similar items in each.
The Norma Rockwell exhibit is at the end of the tour so make sure you leave enough time to visit it at on the second floor of the museum. They are beautiful masterpieces.
Lynze Myers — Google review
Hannibal, where the house is located, is a very neat town. Not only can you visit his home, but there are 3 other places to see with so much history centered around him. You will learn so much from your visit. I highly recommend visiting. You should plan on spending 4 to 5 hours .
Mark Twain Cave, located in a park-like setting, is a must-see attraction for fans of the famous author. The cave has been inspiring scenes in Twain's books for almost 150 years and is known as the original American show cave. Visitors can take guided tours to explore stunning rock formations and underground streams while learning about its role in Twain's stories.
Surprised our boys with a stop at the cave on our way to St. Louis. They really enjoyed it! The tour guide was great, and we enjoyed the stories. It's great timing too - 1 hour - not too, and not too short. Looking forward to reading Tom Sawyer and Huck Finn again after visiting this cave

What a great place to visit! Campground is small but quaint. Kids had a great time riding on the partially cemented roadways. Within walking distance of the cave itself! Coolest thing I've ever seen at any other Campground is that the shower house they also have a grooming station for your pet. One down side is that some of the campsite spots were really close together so when booking you'd really need to check on the map....we stayed on sites C and had plenty of room

We stayed in the Mark Twain Cave campground and could not have been more pleased. The grounds were very clean, and the camping spaces were very nice. They have a wonderful gift shop, and the wine selection was great. We thoroughtly enjoyed the tour of the cave so be sure to check it out! We will definitely go back!
Phyllis Lewis — Google review
Was fun seeing both caves here. We stayed in the campground in a tent for 3 nights. Perfect weather! Also there was barely any bogs out even after dark which was shocking to me, but we loved it. Definitely will be coming back to camp in the future. I highly recommend staying here. Also the bathrooms were clean. The pipes smelt bad but that's everywhere for camping bathrooms. Overall couldn't have asked for a better camping area.

We choose the other cave on site. It was great. The path was left in a more natural state and not lights besides flashlight.
Our tour guide was great.
We even had a chance to crawl about 15 through a tight passage. It was a little freaky but also awesome.
The tour shows you several cool features.
Jon Hood — Google review
Loved this campground! Site was level, area was clean and roomy. Staff was friendly and price was reasonable. When we arrived a clear and defined map was given. Easy to understand and follow. The timing of the cave tours worked well with checking out. They even offered parking in main lot if we wanted to tour more before we headed out.

We stayed at the campground. Our time was limited so we chose Cameron cave. Our tour guide was awesome. Probably the coolest part was flashlights only. If we ever get back we will definitely visit the Mark Twain Cave for historical reasons. Expect to spend at least $80 for a family of four. Yes, I would do it again.

I took my 6 year old and 5 year old here today. We drove over 2 hours to get there and it was well worth the drive. We had Ann as a guide and she did a wonderful job. She was great with the kids and just had an overall great attitude. She made sure that everyone in the group was keeping up and could hear her but didn't rush us through. She also did a great job of relating the history of the cave itself and not just how it relates to Mark Twain. She helped me imagine what it would truly be like to be an early explorer of the cave. The cave itself was breathtaking. We came to the cave because it was my birthday and I wanted to do something fun with the kids for my birthday and this trip was perfect. Definitely recommend it.

Cave is awesome. Easy walking and mostly dry. Tour guide was great and funny. My family had a great time and will be back. If I could add one bit of constructive criticism it would be to install some shielding on some of the lights because when the bulbs are exposed they tend to blind you with direct light instead of illuminating things you are trying to see. Not a major problem. Cool cave with a lot of history!

I went years ago when I was 8, and now again as an adult and I'm glad I did. Our tour guide was awesome and enthusiastic showing her love and excitement of the cave and showing her knowledge with others. The gift shop is quite nice as well as everyone can find something. Great experience!!

Spent a night there on our way back from Georgia. Sure wish we could have stayed longer to check out the Winery and the Cave. Very nice and quiet campground. We definitely plan to make a trip to Hannibal in the future and will be staying again. So glad we found this place compared to others in the area is the best.

This was so much fun!
We did the Cameron Cave tour with Logan as our very experienced guide. He’s super knowledgeable and has the best puns. Such a unique experience with flashlights provided. Don’t be scared, it’s a fairly easy walk through. The winery is also really cute and has a huge variety of sweet-dry. All the wines are from Missouri!

This campground is super nice!! The staff are wonderful, friendly, helpful, and accommodating. The sites are level and roomy. We bought the Mark Twain Cave Tour, the Mark Twain Live show, and the Hannibal Tour.
The Mark Twain Cave Tour was fun, but too fast. I felt rushed through the cave. I also felt that our guide put too much emphasis on the signatures in the cave. Thus some people might be encouraged to deface other historic or beautiful natural sites with their names which would be sad. I Love nature and believe in leaving no trace, so other generations will be able to enjoy the beauty. I would like to hear more emphasis on the history and formations that we saw, such as Norman Rockwell's painting, the Doctor, etc.
The Hannibal Tour was truly fun and entertaining!! So much history is in this little town! We went back into town after the tour to walk the downtown area and visit the shops. We will come back to spend more time. The old fashioned soda was absolutely delicious!
The Mark Twain Live was fun.
Mark Twain Cave Campground was a wonderful experience. We will be back!

We went through both caves on our visit (Mark Twain and Cameron) and had a great experience both times. Our guide through the Mark Twain cave was Ace. He was great and had a lot of anecdotes about the cave. There were only 3 of us on the Cameron cave tour and our guide on that one was Max. He was also a great guide. He was knowledgeable about the cave and its history and was willing to answer questions. We were given flashlights as this cave is without electricity which added to the adventure. There was one area where we could crawl through a little area (I think Max called it the bear den). He also gave some quick directions and asked if anyone wanted to be the guide through that. It was only maybe 20 feet but was fun. Max was encouraging when I got to a turn and was debating if that was the right path. Overall a great experience and we're already talking about going back and going through them again. The gift shop staff were also great. Their card readers were down but they allowed us to go on the Mark Twain cave tour anyway (it's was getting ready to leave) and just asked us to stop back when we were finished to pay for that.

We camped very clean campsites, rest rooms were very clean. We had a campsite and wanted more room with them not being at full capacity we was able to move to upgrade to a bigger campsite. If you are looking for a weekend get away highly recommend.

We stayed at the campground for a night and will definitely come back. The campground was clean and the sites were level and well maintained. Since we were just passing through, we didn't get a chance to visit the cave, but will do so on our next trip.

Amanda was a great tour guide and really took her time to tell the stories and jokes to make this a wonderful experience. If you are a generally cold person temp wise I would definitely take a jacket. Even the gift shop has interesting things to check out! We can't wait to go back!

Level campsites. Facilities were clean. Service staff were very friendly and knowledgeable. Loved the on-site winery, Mark Twain speaker and cave tour. We were too early in the season but would have wanted to take the Hannibal truck tour. The campground is situated in a valley-type setting so we felt a bit safer during inclement weather that occurred. Highly recommend this campground.

We took the granddaughters, 5 and 7, to Hannibal to see the attractions. The Mark Twain Cave tour was outstanding and they loved it. Our guide, David, was super with the girls and made the tour extremely interesting for them. We are very appreciative of him and his kindness. We highly recommend the cave tour to all. And we hope you're lucky enough to get David for your guide.

Sites were level, bathrooms were always clean. Staff was helpful. I toured both caves, recommend to not wear flip flops or sandals. The slushes at the winery were awesome. Took the tour of the historical town and then went the next day, walking around. I would definitely stay again. We camped through the week so not crowded at all.

The Mark Twain and Cameron Caves were amazing! Jackson was our tour guide and he did a great job. Bobbi was our tour guide for the Trolley Tour and she was so wonderful: the passion she put into telling us about Hannibal and the way she remembered us hours later when we took the trolley back into town made us feel really special. These caves and the tours are an absolute MUST if you visit Hannibal. You will not regret it. The Mark Twain cave is family friendly and all lit up while the Cameron cave is much more suited for adults, longer of a tour, and you explore it all via flashlights!

We stayed in Hannibal for a few days focusing on Mark Twain and his writings. We took our whole family on a tour of Mark Twain's cave- with an age range from 4 years to 77! Every person had a phenomenal time. Bobbi, our tour guide, was attentive, informed, and funny! She went at a great pace and really made it a great time (my son is a big Tom Sawyer enthusiast and she made his day with stories and questions!)

Warning: Not for children. We were in the back of the line and could not hear the guide, so our kids chattered. I guess because of some cave sound dynamic this made it difficult for people in the front to hear. The tour guide waited until the end of the tour and in front of everyone told us we “need to learn to control our children. It is common courtesy.” So: we paid $150 for a set up in which no one told us our kids’ voices were reverberating loudly and the guide, with great enjoyment, publicly embarrassed us when it was too late to do anything. Horrible experience.

Mark Twain cave is amazing geological wonder! The tour last about an hour, the tour offers insight into the rich history of the cave along with local history. Our tour guide Jeremiah was very passionate about the tour and his sense of humor was "pyrite". The tour is fun for the whole family and definitely a must see!!!

The cave was great as always. The renovation to the building was good. Brought 5 children and bought each child a gift in the gift shop. We expressed our concern about the products being sold in the candy and food section that had curse words as the product name. It is very disappointing to see that in a family friendly setting. Multiple schools come here for field trips each year. We hope they take our advice and remove those products. We spent $200 there today. If we see them there when we come back, we will not return.

Our first visit to the cave and our tour guide Bobby was fantastic! She had great information about the cave and it's history and knew some pretty good dad jokes. Highly recommended tour. We will definitely be coming back.

Went with my partner and had a great time! The tour guide Bobbi was super interactive and made sure everyone felt okay. We had one person with claustrophobia, one with a hip replacement, and myself with vision problems. Bobbi made sure we all had fun and were okay. Overall great experience!

This is a must see in Hermann. The views alone are amazing. Carol the owner met with us to share stories of the winery. Love the personal experience. We will definitely be back.

My friends and I had a terrible experience at Oak Glenn this past weekend - several of us were repeat customers who now have no intention to return after how we were treated. Sorry in advance for this absolute novel of a review - the TLDR is that the owner treated us horribly and stole our property, and there are several other reviews documenting similar behavior that I wish we had seen prior to visiting. If you’re looking for a winery to visit in the area, we had great experiences at Stone Hill, Adam Puchta, and Hermanhoff.
I want to preface this by saying that I have debated on whether or not to post about my experience because I truly do not want my negative feedback to reflect on the hardworking staff members - I’ve worked several customer service jobs in the past and completely understand that misunderstandings happen, and during this visit (and all of our previous ones) we have had nothing but positive experiences with the staff. Our frustrations lie solely with how the owner chose to conduct herself during what was clearly a misunderstanding.
We were winery hopping in Hermann when we lost track of time and showed up to Oak Glenn a few minutes after they closed the bar - there were a few parties still sitting outside in the gazebo area, so we decided ask the staff if we could do the same even though we had just arrived. Before our party even left our car, my boyfriend went to the bar to ask for permission - he said that he initially approached an older lady who did not acknowledge him, but he didn’t think much of this and he approached a staff member who was closing up behind the bar instead. He said that we had just arrived and asked if we could bring outside wine and food to the gazebo area and hang out for a bit. The staff member told him that there was no problem with this and we were free to hang out until they finished cleaning, so we brought our wine and snacks from the car and settled in at a bench near the gazebo. The bottle of wine that my brother brought was almost empty, so he poured the final glass into his cup and put the empty bottle underneath his jacket (which was laying on the table) to prevent it from rolling off the table or being knocked over. Very soon after this, the same older lady that initially ignored my boyfriend walked over to the table and grabbed an almost-full bottle of wine off of it, and then started angrily rifling through my brother’s jacket to get the empty bottle. Several of us expressed confusion and tried to ask what was going on, but she started yelling that we were disrespecting her as the owner, and that she could lose her liquor license over outside wine being brought onto the premises. We all completely understand this concern and never would have brought the wine onto the property had we known this, but this was an absolutely unacceptable way to handle the situation. Had she simply told us that there was a miscommunication and that we could not have the wine at the gazebo, we would have immediately put the wine back into our car and come back another day. Instead, she thought it was appropriate to rifle through our personal belongings and steal our property.
I have also included a photo of a coozie that one of my friends purchased during a previous visit here. She said that she asked the bartender at the time if they sold coozies, and the bartender said that they were $10. She paid $20 for two of them, and the bartender took out a gold sharpie and wrote the name of the winery on two blank coozies right in front of her. Needless to say, this is a complete rip-off and not worth your money.

This appears to be the Target of Hermann wineries. There’s something for everyone, but nothing too special. It’s very popular, but customer service and quality is lacking.
The scenery can’t be beat, but we were there on a Saturday and as out of towners, we were unaware they don’t do tastings on that day. I’m not going to spend money on a glass/bottle of wine just to have something to drink if I can’t taste it first. I did buy a glass of sangria (it’s hard to mess that up) and it was about 6 oz., and a lot of ice for $8. My husband tried a glass of dry wine which he said was okay. I did ask which of the many (about 15+) wines they serve had grapes that were grown on property. There was one. I know that doesn’t make a bad wine, but it seems a little misleading.
Again, the view of the Missouri River is beautiful. It’s also obvious they take pride in the landscaping and buildings. We were there at about 2:30 on a Saturday and two groups were obviously drunk and loud. Not a quiet place to sit and enjoy the surroundings and a glass of wine. However, they do offer Bud, Michelob, Busch Light, some sparkling alcohol and lots of pricey snacks which makes this seem more like a bar than a winery.
Sue Wilson — Google review
I understand wineries having cover charges during Oktoberfest, however having a bunch of random looking guys with no identification that marks them as employees come up to our bus and demand a cover fee of $10 per person seems rather concerning. On top of that they were rude about it and didn't seem at all upset that they lost business from 18 people who really wanted to try the wine. I'm sure 18 people is a miniscule amount during the busiest time of year, but the parking lot did seem emptier than the other wineries we went to and drove by.

Our 1st and BEST stop along our self made wine trail and we loved it!! Walking in you don't expect the outcome from front to back and the view is uncanny! The staff was great, the drinks kept flowing and we even saw an engagement while sitting and enjoying our vino!! We "will not hesitate" to re-enter the grounds for another beautiful day of wine tasting and a landscape you can't beat in Illinois or anywhere for that matter!! 10 stars!!!

First visit to the Hermann wine trail and stopped here. It was by far the most crowded, seemingly by the younger set. When we got to the bar, we noticed the sign staying "No tastings on Saturday."
So we left disappointed.
Beautiful view, though.

$10 entry fee, 1.5 hr wait for beers, 1 hour wait for wine, seating was very limited, bathrooms were put of paper towels and TP. Staff was great/ working so hard for us! Frozen pizzas were delicious drunk food. Band and view was very nice! If you want to charge a $10 entry fee, then we shouldn't have to wait in lines and the bathrooms better in check.

I've been here a handful of times, and unfortunately it's still my least favorite winery. The wine itself is very sub par compared to the other wineries in Hermann. The owner was rude and really the reason why I'd never go back. Instead of being professional she chose to handle a situation like a bully and treat paying customers with no respect at all. Plus, no Saturday tastings? Everywhere else does tastings, except this place. This place is not special, but they do believe they are.
The views are amazing, but I won't be back. It would be nice if one of the other better wineries could move in here. Then the place would be insane I'm sure of it. There's a reason the trolley stops here last.

That's right, the Frog gives OakGlenn 5 stars! First time ever. It really checked off some boxes for me. Awesome views and excellent white port. I'm not much of a wine drinker I love the sweet stuff and only tried the white and red ports. Both were the best I have had in a while and not the $60 cost of Defiance Ridge. Great views, great tasting ports and fair prices. Really can't think of anything negative, other than the sign directing you to the property came up really fast. Maybe move that back half a mile. And turn on the ac in the men's bathroom.

Fabulous view, great wine, and delightful staff. We visited on a Sunday and there was only one other couple. The property is expansive! If you plan on visiting on a Saturday, there are no tastings- only glasses served due to the shear volume of guests.

Out of all the Missouri wineries that I have been to, this one was the worst. It has a nice view in one area (see pictures), but the tasting room and the seating areas are rough. The service was with annoyed staff and much of the attitudes of the staff was not caring at all. I think they are tired of constant tourists or something ... at least that is what it felt like. The food is expensive and cheap quality. The wine was OK only and the beer is only Bud, Bud Light, etc. It is too bad that they don't help other local businesses and carry the town's local beer.
Bill Evjen — Google review
This is my least favourite of all three Missouri wineries my wife and I frequent but my wife likes one of the wines. This is a very commercial winery and some of the staff are rude and act like they are doing you a favor by serving you. Thus is a popular stop, is usually busy, and the Hermann Trolley does stop here. The site is beautifully located with views of rolling hills and the mighty Missouri river.
Eric Westerman — Google review
Great views, but the rest is mid. No tastings on Saturday mean you’re gambling on whether you like the $30 bottle of wine you have to pay $10 to step off the trolley for. More interested in collecting money than serving customers wine.
Stop by for a tasting. Oh yeah! Went with the whiskey. So now we have to go back to try the gin and vodka. One word to describe it......excellent!!

Amazing tasting experience with Greg! Super knowledgeable and made it fun! He has a crazy amount of facts which was the best part for us! They have amazing gin cocktails on tap and you can purchase it in cans as well!

Amazing distillery. They make gin, whiskey and a vodka. And many speciality batches. Like navy strength gin, hibiscus, oak aged. And whiskey they have a stout barrel, heirloom corn, Sherry cask, etc. So many changing options.
And the tasting was great! Very educational. And a great value. 5 tastes for $ 15.
Highly recommend!

OMG, what a great place to visit!! Had no idea what to expect when I heard we were going to a distillery. The owner take great pride in the business as well as everyone else working. The product is awesome and this comes from a person that only drinks either beer or wine with no taste for anything else. Pinckney Bend is well worth the drive and visit!!!
Russ Mahood — Google review
The staff makes sure the tastings are an entertaining experience, even for non-spirit drinkers like my wife. You can choose between a whiskey or gin flight. They take the time to tell you how each is made and offer lots of facts about the process. Each tasting ends with one of their signature gin and tonics. These are not your run-of-the-mill gin and tonics. They're made with their homemade tonic syrup and they're delicious. This spot is not to be missed.

We had so much fun here, what a blast! It was so exciting to see all of the animals and feed them, many were hungry!! They race their cute little selves to the fence to get food which was adorable. We also enjoyed the fish in the tanks located in the gift shop. Very reasonable and educational fun all the way around, we'll definitely come back.

What a cool petting zoo! It is much larger than we imagined! There was so much for the kids to see! The spoons were a smart idea for those that may be afraid to feed the animals with their hands. Took us close to an hour and a half to go around the whole place at a leisure pace. Animals, playground, huge slide for the kids, they had a variety of things to do. Fall decorations all over when we went. Was super fun.

Great place a bit off the beaten path, but not too far. You could spend as little as a few hours to most of the day here. We were there about three hours which allowed plenty of time to see all the animals and let the kids play for awhile.
Prices are reasonable and the place is clean. Clean as one can expect an animal park to be that is. The staff was also friendly and willing to talk about the animals and share stories.
No food service, as they say on their site. So eat before or pack a lunch. You can eat in the parking lot area if you’re making a day of it.

This is one of our very favorite summer activities to do. We go multiple times a year and I'm always telling other people about it. We love getting up close to the animals and getting to feed them. Great place for the family! It was large enough to have a good variety of animals to see. But not so large that everyone is too exhausted by the end of the visit. My daughter was very excited about the pony rides. We'll have to come back when camel rides are available again. Feeding the parakeets was also a highlight for both of my kids.
Lakeside winery with a rustic dining & tasting room, live music & picnic tables.
Decided to check this winery out, as it was not far off of I-70. It is a huge location, with plenty of room to host events. They offer different wine flights if you want to try a variety of their wines. Their winery have a combination of Missouri and California grapes/juices used for their wines. The labels make it clear where the wines fall, geography-wise. They also offer a few bottles not affiliated with their winery. I was familiar with most of those wines. They have some patio seating, where you can view their pond. A unique aspect of their location is that they have swans on the property. That's not something you see every day in Missouri. I had a great visit. Mari Kate, behind the bar, took great care of me. Definitely recommend this place for Missouri wine lovers.

I’ve been here twice now for the “Boots, Blue Jeans, and Boogie” event and it is wonderful! So many people come and know how to line dance. I split a bottle of red wine with my friend and it was also wonderful. The lady helped us decided what type of wine we wanted and let us sample a few to make sure we got the right one. Minus one star because we ordered the quesadilla (which was good) and a pizza. The pizza was still cold in the middle and looked like it was a microwaved frozen pizza. They were charging about $9 for this pizza too. Just not good. But I understand with free admission, they got to make their money somehow. Go for the drinks and the dancing! Just not for the food in the winter. Maybe once the outdoor smokehouse opens in the summer it will be better. Overall though such a fun place!

Food at the smoke house was good! The only con was it was $11 for a one shell quesadilla and pulled pork nachos was short on the pork. It's a shame the stars only go as high as 5... My husband and I decided to try some different wineries this weekend as we were in the STL area and we landed at Cedar Lake Cellars. Without question, this is one of THE nicest wineries we've been to in the Midwest. The floor-to-ceiling wall of wine greets you as you enter the tasting room, and unlike some places, it's elegant without an attitude.
We were greeted at the counter first by Gabe, and he was wonderfully knowledgeable about all the wine products and led us through the tastings with expertise and humor. About midway through we were introduced to Kaitlyn, who was in training, but still was very helpful with the tastings and her smile and sunny attitude. Because of the heat that day, we opted to stay in that room and order our lunch.
The soup and salads were fantastic, and the greens were fresh! Both Gabe and Kaitlyn continued to assist us with ordering and serving of the food. As we were exiting that building, Kaitlyn arrived with a larger tote bag for the wine we purchased as well as the tasting glasses--perfectly wrapped to prevent breakage. There were excellent wines for every taste, and Gabe perfectly crafted a sangria that was memorable.
As we strolled the grounds, we continued to be amazed at the 'spacious wonder' of the entire property. Three different places are there onsite for dining, as well as several areas to drink/dine indoors and out. The pond has swans (which were beautiful to watch) and the band playing was excellent.
The layout and attention to detail of this place is really something every winery should strive for, but the best part was having two genuinely NICE people lead us through the process of tasting and dining. That is so rare these days, and Cedar Lake Cellars will always be on the list of destination wineries for us.

This is such a beautiful place for a girls day out, date night or just to stop and have a glass of wine. The grounds are beautiful and the wine is delicious. We have done the wine flights several times and the staff has always been so helpful and knowledgeable. We love the frosè! Cedar Lake Cellars also offers a ton of theme nights and events. There's always something going on! The event with food trucks and vendors was so fun. It allowed guests to shop small businesses and try yummy food but they also had MLM/direct sales companies too which was a bummer to see amongst actual small businesses. I can't wait for our next trip! I wish they were open a little later too. We always have such a great time and it would be a beautiful place to hold a special event!

We were recommended to go here by a guide at a national monument nearby. I'm glad she told us about it. The site has an interesting collection of historical buildings. Most were closed and there wasn't much to do besides look at stuff and read the pamphlet.
The interpretive materials largely ignored Indigenous peoples' perspectives on foreign invasion. A more nuanced and historically accurate approach would consider how one group's hero can be another group's villain through the life of Daniel Boone.

From the cordial welcome, the engaging and very informative tour of the home provided by Nathan and Nolan, to our independent exploration of the. beautifully reconstructed/restored historical buildings comprising the village, it was a thoroughly delightful afternoon. I especially appreciated Nathan’s incisive commentary that so effectively ties together the design and features of the home and furnishings with the history of Boone’s life and the geopolitical conditions that brought him and his family to eastern Missouri. Montelle Winery is a must-visit destination not far from St. Louis, offering a picturesque drive and incredible views from the hilltop. The winery's river country red wine is highly recommended, but be mindful of additional charges for amenities like ice buckets. The on-site restaurant serves a variety of delicious options including flatbread pizzas and sandwiches. The overall ambiance is enhanced by live music, making it an ideal spot for a leisurely Sunday afternoon.
We were in town for just a couple of days. People mention this winery to us. When we pulled onto the parking lot the view was outstanding, you can say the view takes your breath away. The wine we try was a 2018 Norton, It was smooth with very little aftertaste. We will be back.

This winery is on top of a hill and has a gorgeous view of the surrounding trees and land. When you enter the building, there is a tasting bar, then behind it is the check out counter. The whole process of paying and ordering was a little confusing but we eventually figured it out. At the checkout counter you can place your food order, pay for wine samples, and buy bottles of wine (and other drinks they have in upright coolers behind the checkout area). They have chilled bottles of wine if you are wanting to drink them there, and they also have non chilled ones if you are getting them to go. For the food, they give you a buzzer, and then you go to the pick up window the pick it up when it is ready. Ours took about 30 minutes. There are glasses at the check out to use to drink your wine from. I had to ask about them, the cashier did not offer them to me. Also at the check out counter you can pay for samples, then you take your receipt to the sample bar and show them and they will give your samples. It's 10 dollars for 4 samples.
There are lots of seats out on their decks. They have limited covered seating. The views are gorgeous. Once you get your food and wine you go find a seat. Seats are just first come first serve. Just look for an open one or look for people that are about to leave. We brought our wine out to the table and wondered why we didn't get one of those ice bucket to keep the wine chilled. Later we saw that another table got them from somewhere inside and found out they were 2.50 a piece.
As for food, I got the house salad and we got 2 of the baked brie for the table. We also got the jumbo pretzel that had cheese cubes, grapes and salami in the inner open sections of the pretzel. Everyone at the table also ordered sandwiches and salads for themselves. It was definitely enough food for a group of 7 (too much! Lol) I loved the baked Brie and the jumbo pretzel dipped in the cheese was soooo good!
There were a lot of bees and my friends boyfriend got stung! They would not leave us alone! If you have food, you will have bees visiting your table.

We visited Montelle winery and it was a well worth visit. The Winery is not far from St. Louis and the drive over is nice. The views from top of Montelle winery are incredible.
We ordered a bottle of Montelle river country red wine and it was delicious. They charged for a ice bucket to keep the wine cold, so definitely ask before what free vs. paid. The winery restaurant serves flatbread pizza’s, sandwiches and assorted snacks. We ordered the veggie three cheese pizza and a southwestchicken wrap. The food was nothing remarkable but the visit was more for wine. There was live music which made the visit memorable and relaxing. Plenty of seating space and parking.

The view was gorgeous, and the service was great! We did a wine and spirit tasting, and our guy did an outstanding job in describing each and providing some history behind each tasting. He also explained the trolley, which we will definitely do on our next trip.

This place is great, the gentleman behind the bar was knowledgeable and made our tasting very enjoyable. We bought a bottle to share and ordered food and sat on the patio. The view was fantastic, the wines are very good, and the food got the spot.

Not a wine connoisseur and went at a friend's recommendation.
Had 3 wines, red , white and rose, all were really good. The buffalo pizza was amazing as well
Did get hot under direct sunlight, could use umbrellas with adjustment / tilt.
Great view and weather, ride to the top was a pleasure too.
Will try to visit again when in the area.

Gorgeous scenery, excellent food choices, and live music to top of a great overall ambiance for our Sunday Afternoon. We got their version of a charcuterie board (which ACTUALLY feeds the table), pretzels and garlic bread for the kiddos. The live music was yacht jam style, inviting everyone to dance along as they wish. Over all we had a great time and will return.
Wine wise? Semi-sweet is sweet. Semi-dry is sweet. Heads up for those of you thinking there's a middle ground here Dry is pretty great, and sweet is flavorful for sure.

Overall a disappointing experience. The view was nice and the chardonel was good. The other wines were wanting, and the service that accompanied them was lackluster, with very little knowledge or attention from the staff. We ordered the ""baked"" brie that came with some microwaved bread.

We went here on a nice fall day for a snack and a bottle of wine. They have a nice setup that is easy to get along with. The people are friendly and efficient. They have a nice selection of their wines. I especially like their Nortons, which is kind of unique and I haven't seen it in other areas of the US. Supposedly the Norton grape was grown by Thomas Jefferson on his estate at Monticello, but I feel that may be a legend.
I am disappointed that the trees on the deck are now gone. It does enhance the view, but on sunny days the lack of shade can be oppressive. There are umbrellas on some of the tables, but not enough to make us want to visit during the heat of the summer. Overall though, we love this winery.

2020-Enjoyed my experience here today. Although it's during this Covid-19 pandemic. Everyone did a great job with social distancing. I'm glad I was able to try a tasting of wine and spirits. I loved the seasonal Tropical Sangria! The view is definitely amazing.
Updated 2022
I'm sorry, the view has changed so much with the trees near the deck area.
We went on Saturday and found easy parking. I've never had easy parking.
I can see there's a difference just in the crowd.
Yes there's umbrellas but it's just not the same. My photos before and after can prove the difference.
We sat inside which I never knew existed until this weekend.(7/23/22)
We stayed to listening to the band and left after a glass of wine. The vibe is definitely different 😌.
Ice buckets are and extra charge($2.50). I'm not cheap but if I'm buying bottles the buckets could be complimentary. 🙄
We always want to stop here and finally got to today.
Little Dove the owner is super sweet!
Love the Native American pieces.
Bought a beautiful war hammer made by a Cherokee Indian.
If you haven't stopped in you should! 😁

A very kind couple own this store. I was here January 23rd 2022. The owners live here so please be respectful. They have many hand made pieces and blankets. They also have info on the indigenous artists they carry. I was a very happy customer.

What in tarnation? I'm not sure what I was expecting but this wasn't it. As soon as we pulled up, a woman appeared from nowhere to tell us they are a designated Native American whatever and that it was $2 a person to shop. We were surprised but okay. They unlocked one little teepee and let us inside. It was filled with "Native American goods" that all appeared to be something made by children in China.
I wasn't interested and stepped out. I got a major bad vibe from this place and it took me a while to shake the feeling. We paid the $8. They said something to my husband about the fact that I took a picture of one of the teepees. Oh well, I paid $8 for it.
I love visiting this charming, historic part of Saint Charles. The Christmas Traditions event is so enchanting and really puts visitors in the Christmas spirit. The local shops carry such unique gifts and products, some of which are handmade that you won't find elsewhere. The local restaurants, cafés, bakeries, ice cream parlors and coffee shops offer great cuisine and dining experiences, some with relaxing, scenic views along the Mississippi, and the local bars offer lively nightlife. You must visit historic Saint Charles--what a lovely place to visit!

A good mix of history, shopping and food. Nice flow, but car traffic can be intense at times. It would have a total different feel if there was no auto traffic, because you can't loose yourself in the time period with a late model car going by.....

Mostly bars and restaurants, little culture or creativity. Definitely not worth more than a 20 minute drive to get here. The street and buildings are cute...but that's it. Lots of towns have that charm but with more to offer.

Old St. Charles is quaint and full of historical charm. The shops range from cute and quirky to artsy and beyond, with something for everyone, and there are many nice dining options along the entire length of the brick-paved streets. Great place for a lazy stroll and a day full of fun along the Missouri River.

I love coming here at any time of the year, this place is always thriving with new people and new attractions. I especially love halloween season! Rain or shine they always say and they mean it! Perfect place to go when you just want to get away from everything and take a nice stroll down this beautiful historic district. The riverwalk is even a HUGE plus! Just make sure to pay attention to weather and the river for flooding, but besides that this place is a wonderful area to just go to, to get out of the house. Will ALWAYS recommend!
The Lewis & Clark Boat House and Museum is a place where visitors can see full-scale replicas of the boats used by Lewis & Clark during their 1804 expedition. The museum also features exhibits that detail the expedition. The staff is extremely friendly, and there is a nice gift shop on site. Although the museum itself may be smaller than expected, the longboat exhibit is fascinating and provides visitors with a perspective on what the travelers went through.
Great little museum, lots of things to look at, a nice little gift shop. The staff was knowledgeable and kind. It is a small display, but well put together, the large boats were especially interesting to me, unfortunately they were behind gates at the time of our visit. Highly recommend.

So much to see. Plan a few hours. Description of a pc of history that should not ever be forgotten. We didn't take care of the already settled Native Americans. But the white man wouldn't have survived without their help. Lots to learn. Great gifts to buy

If you were like me, I am sure you drove past the boathouse in Historic St. Charles a hundred times. On the hundred and first time we stopped to check it out. When you walk up to the boathouse there are native wildflowers grown with information of the species. Then you encounter an old restored boat used to travel on Missouri river by Lewis and Clark, and it is in use to this day. It is a keelboat, and it is crazy. I am sure a lot of dedication and hard work goes into maintaining it. The staff were all super nice and out-of-there way accommodating! I noticed the museum and it was only a few dollars to tour. Once I entered, it was absolutely a hidden inexpensive gem! There are artifacts from the period, walls chocked full of information. Small replicas of the villages. There are many dioramas depicting scenes of the time. In addition, a lot of the native wildlife here in Missouri. The facility is very clean and has a beautiful view of the river through there large picture windows. A nice building here in our backyard of St. Charles County. So, the next time you are down there, take a few minutes and check this out. Great place to take the young ones!

The Ameristar Casino Resort Spa St. Charles is a contemporary hotel that offers spacious suites and an indoor/outdoor pool. Guests can enjoy a 1950s-themed lounge and stunning views of the downtown area or river from their rooms. Although there is no gift shop or convenience store onsite, guests are encouraged to dine at the hotel's restaurants instead of using vending machines. The staff is accommodating and willing to assist with room requests.
From the drive up to the property it was a breathtaking moment. The ease of parking for the hotel side made it very accessible. When arriving inside you have got to see it to believe it, hands down just luxurious. The craftsmanship of the resort is just beautiful. The check in staff was just as perfect, very warm and friendly. After we settled in we went to dinner and then enjoyed the casino. The casino is just as nice as the hotel. We will definitely come back for another getaway stay here, this is definitely a 5 star experience.

Staff are always visible and willing to assist.

I'm a frequent visitor I spend a lot of money here unfortunately...lol
There are some workers that are friendly every time I visit, and accommodate to the fullest. And some are just not very friendly and seemed like they're miserable, and some need to not work with people due to having poor customer service skills.
All in all I feel safe there, I normally always have a good time. Not too happy about losing all my comps that I once had for whatever reason but I think it's come a long way as well as the employees.

The building is not very well kept up. Looks dirty. Hand sanitizer empty. Smells terrible. No smoking is on the second floor. So all the smoke rises from the 1st floor. Plus you have to walk through the smoke to get to the second floor. What moron came up with that idea?????

Water pressure in the stand up shower was perfect! Beds are super comfortable, even the pillows were comfortable as ever! There was even a safe in the room, only downside was no microwave, but it was a perfect room!! The view of the river was nice 🙂. Don't get me started on how dark the room gets with the curtains closed, perfect for dark room sleepers 😴 😴!!

I reserved our room from wedding block- at rate of $256.00; already charged to my card. My husband and I stayed one night; Saturday, 3/30/24. After a 4.5 hour drive, we pulled into driveway at 2:30 pm, & no one greeted us for our luggage or giving directions to front desk or parking directions. We unloaded our bags onto luggage cart & I parked our car in free, self-park 4th floor of ramp. We attempted to check in a little early, but were informed that we could not - until 4pm- unless, of course, we wanted to pay “Early Check in Fee” - yes; we had to be at wedding at 4:30- so incurred extra charges on card: $85 “Early Check In Fee”, $11 “Resort Fee” + Room taxes at 16.9%= $110.00 additionally charged to card. Our room was large, 2 Q beds- clean and comfortable. We definitely missed the motorized blinds we had in our room at St. Peter’s Holiday Inn Express! TV room was very nice & in step down/sunken living room & would not be accessible for someone with physical limitations. The bathroom was large, the toilet was in its own room with a door; which I like. The wood vanity was scraped up at bottoms & had seen better days & shower was nice but not clean; large amount of hair/ debris in drain. The price of 2 plain black coffees at Styx restaurant in lobby- $16. The hotel was 20 minutes from wedding venue; & we discovered there were closer hotels that we wished we would have booked but didn’t know better. This hotel was not for our taste & we won’t be staying again.

Did a staycation with my daughter and her fiance. We rented two rooms. Both were very nice. One face the downtown area and all the lights and the other face the river which was nice as well. The rooms are very big and spacious. Showers are really nice. My only negative would be they don't have a sort of gift shop or place to get things like soda or chips. They also don't have ice machines and vending machines on the floors like most places. I assume that's to encourage you to eat at the restaurants. The staff was kind to us to get the rooms close together. A little pricey at about $200 per night after the local taxes. Would definitely recommend.

We had a wonderful time at Ameristar St. Charles. The room was spacious and very comfortable, with a great view of the river. The pool was fabulous (note: no children allowed in the pool Friday through Sunday, as alcohol is served poolside, so be aware.) The location could not have been more convenient for exploring historic St. Charles and it was also convenient to the airport and for exploring St. Louis by car. And the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. Special shout out to Cassie the pool attendant and Jennifer and Kiki at the desk for going above and beyond to make our stay pleasant. Casino review only. Pros: Clean, nice staff, lots of games to choose from.
Cons: These machines are TIGHT. It's no fun to lose all of your money in 15 min. Can't even finish a drink before your money is gone. I understand that the odds are not in the players favor....BUT, you should get a little return and a little play time on your money. You can pour money into a slot or poker machine, and when you do hit the special feature....you will get 55 cents! People are so disgusted they don't even clear the machine after getting a feature. It's almost like they want to warn you to stay away!!! Absolutely ridiculous. I take some older family members there every week and it's getting to the point we will switch casinos. It's a shame because we love it there, just not fun anymore.

We came for an overnight to have a little fun for our anniversary. Room was nice and large but needed updating. Bed was comfy, view of the river was nice. Service was just ok. We requested a river view room and were told we got one, but when we went to our room it was not a river view room. So we had to go down and argue with the front desk staff to get another room. We had fun playing slots. Won some, lost some but overall had a good time.

Went to the Casino. It looked clean, and the machines seemed to all be in working order. Staff were incredibly friendly. I had to interact with a few of them and they all were friendly, informative, and seemed to genuinely be happy to be there. Staff also wiped slot machines after people used them. Unfortunately, there are a lot of smokers, so even though we didn't sit near anyone smoking, we still left with the smell of smoke on our clothes. The whole casino reeked of cigarette. That was probably the biggest detriment against them. Had to shower and change when I got home. Also the only casino I've been to where I was not offered drinks while at the slots even though I sat at the same machine over an hour.
It's a very nice looking building with a lot of shops and amenities as well.
If you don't mind smelling like an ashtray this is definitely a great place to spend a few hours.

We purchased a room for 2 nights. Mind you we have 2 young children that tagged along. We have been to this hotel more times than we can count and have always had an amazing time. We checked in this time and got situated in our lovely room when the kids asked to go swimming. We all got ready and went down to find that the pool closes at 6PM for anyone under 21! I asked if this was an everyday occurrence and the lady went on to reply yes. Never have I ever heard of such a rule before. As I stated earlier we have been numerous times before. We were very disappointed especially when we couldn't even check in until 4. We pay a pretty penny to come here but it makes it all worth it to let the kids enjoy the awesome pool. Little to say the hotel definitely lowered their family friendly atmosphere a notch by making this change.

It's a good 45 minutes coming from SCOTT AFB, on this day it was a smooth sail. I was excited upon arrive as the theme music from "Long Kiss Goodnight" played in my head, but this was not that! The parking was too easy to corner up for my exotic means of mobile express. Walk toward the entrance New Year Eve's wind and cold air occupied the major of the space. In a hurry to get in, I took a minute to consume the environment. Well...let skip that part and get to the main event. If you do not like second hand smoke..save yourself the trip as there is no escaping it here, it will be the first, second and last thing to surround you. I am not a gambler by no means, I just like to hang out and watch the action happen. On this day, people must have been in the giving mood, but spirits were still in good standing. I did not eat at any of the restaurant...so nah there. Hotel! where?...I must have missed it. Restroom inside the Casino clean, but there was one outside the entrance area that need much attention. Staff was very helpful and polite. Make sure you get cash from your ATM bank, as the ATM fees are review all by themselves. Good to place to go and chill with a friend or party. I will attempt to explore more on my next visit. 7/11

First time staying here and it was a beautiful hotel and beautiful rooms. The reason for 4 stars instead of 5....the beds and pillows are THE most uncomfortable. I hardly slept the 4 days we were there. Next time I will bring my own pillow for sure!
The other reason and this is happening in a lot of places but for all the restaurants there they weren't open on the days we were there. The good news is we had a couple event nights so we didn't have to worry about it, otherwise we only had the bar and grill to choose from until our last night when the steakhouse opened and that was delicious!

Nice atmosphere and layout. Huge selection of games and lots of fun playing. They have very clean games and restrooms all day and night. The soda and coffee is free for you while you play. The staff has always been super friendly and helpful. I have stayed in hotel a few years ago. And it seems not a lot has changed in the standard rooms. But they are still clean and nice. The location is really great as well. Not not there is anything they can change about it now. It’s a city inside of itself lol. They are pretty stuck with the layout. Which is great. The only thing I would change is the glass on the front doors. It always looks like it’s raining outside when I walk out. And rain makes me blue and sleepy. And then I realize it’s only the glass. Games pay out pretty well it seems but like every place they have a dry spell when it’s just time for the house to win and make money. We can’t win every-time. Although it would be nice. But it is always fun and comfortable there.

Great way to make your repeat client base feel welcome … have the room ready at 2:30pm and refuse allowing them to check in without a “check in fee” of $85 until 4pm. “Protocol”. Standing in the hall wondering wth to do overhearing other people complaining that the rooms are disgusting…
My experience has been the room has always been clean but definitely outdated. And this entire complex is very overpriced.

Ridiculous issues. Parked in a lot specially designated for large vehicles. Drive a large truck. And because it was apparently a couple of inches shorter than they liked…. They towed the vehicle. $400 bill plus taxi fees and several hours lost time. The lot wasn’t full. Many opens spaces. Made an honest mistake believing those spaces were for trucks like mine. Yet. They towed it. No one asked me to move it. No one put a note on it. It was there only a few hours. Unhelpful staff. Will never stay here again. And will ensure anyone that asks knows how terrible this place is to its customers.

Entering the large facility with all the lights outside, made you feel like you were in a little Vegas. Easy to park in the parking deck you’re not in the weather easy to get right into the building. Lots of really neat little shops along the way as you work your way into the restaurant areas and then into the casino. There’s lots of detail in the casino, amazing two stories full of machines that look all brand new and lots of nice comfortable chairs places to get drinks and everything was very very very clean. Definitely a very cool place.

I booked a room one night to treat my boyfriend to a cute little stay-cation. The staff was very lovely. Check in was easy. The rooms were cleanly. I had a beautiful river view. The general set up is very nice.
The bed and pillows were very comfortable. I slept like a baby. It was very quiet, I couldn’t hear any neighbors,
I gotta say though I was disappointed. We tried to take a bath and the water wouldn’t even get warm. We tried to stick it out but it was too cold. So that was disappointing. I was really looking forward to having access to a bathtub that we can both fit in.
It was dusty I noticed but there were signs posted where they apologized. I’m fine with that, stuff happens and it sounded like they were addressing it.
We went to make coffee the next morning and there was only one package but…two of us.
The bathroom TV’s don’t work but that’s not that big of a deal since the bath didn’t work out anyway.
The carpet was not in the best of shape and neither was the furniture, the blinds were hard to move. Personally don’t care much about those things but it’s worth noting.
The elevators had me livid. I got stuck a couple different times where I thought I was gonna have to call for help. In hind sight I probably should have notified someone but we were only there for one night and we had an agenda.
I actually really love the casino and I’ve stayed in the hotel before with friends and had a great time. I just don’t see myself going back for a cute romantic night away from the house.

When I walked in to my room, 2212 on January 18 2024, the horrible odor of cigarette smoke was overwhelming. The air conditioner didn't work either. Called front desk and they said they didn't have any other rooms but they would send someone up to fix the issues. 2 guys came and couldn't fix the air conditioner. They said they would get back with us, they never did. 2 hours later after calling the front desk, a guy came in with an ' air treatment ' device that did nothing but give us headaches and made the room smell worse. To top it off, the next morning there wasn't any hot water. I've stayed in better rooms at a Super 8! With the amount of money we spent at the casino, you would think the rooms would be much better! Very disappointing!

The casino it’s very clean, especially the washrooms. I hate the wall of cigarette smoke that hits you when you walk in! Wish the whole place was non smoking not just upstairs. Would like to see more blackjack tables. Dealers and bar staff are friendly, do a great job. It is almost impossible to get a waitress at a table but the bar staff are fast. Took all my kids for 21st birthdays, everyone there celebrated with us, staff included, it was a great time, fun atmosphere! Have only stayed over once for a wedding, which was in the ballroom and sensational. We had a hard time booking the hotel room with the wedding block of discounted rooms, but once we got there the room was clean, comfortable and nicely decorated with all the usual amenities. Didn’t like that you couldn’t open the fridge to chill your own soda etc without paying.

I can only speak for the casino. Everything looked great. The entry in was filled with restaurants, bars, and a few shops. Went during the week, late in the day but not evening. I didn't have much luck but the staff was nice. The casino looks good, with lots of slot machines, tables, and different denominations. The slots seemed tight, more like a racino than a casino. If I was going to try it again, it would be later at night or on a weekend.

I grabbed a drink and walked around mainly.
Not my thing personally but impressive regardless

Decided to choose the Ameristar for our son's 21st birthday. This way, he could drink on the premises without leaving. We also have younger children that would be with us 1 of the 2 nights. Had a few unfortunate events happen that would have been nice to know ahead of time. The nightclub was closed both Friday and Saturday. The only spot that was a bar with music was closed. The heated indoor pool was closed. Almost all the reasons we chose the Ameristar which isn't a cheap place to stay but would let 2 parents sleep at night knowing your child will be safe and not getting into a car didn't exactly come through. Another funny thing is they don't have microwaves in the rooms. They would like to charge you an additional 30 dollars to rent one for the night. Then after you checkout of course they add a few more dollars on for a resort fee. Resort that more than half of was closed. I love going to the Ameristar for the casino but the hotel side was a huge bust for our weekend vacation. Make sure you call ahead and ask questions before booking. Lesson learned.

Biggest issue is we booked a non smoking room that reeked of cigarette smoke. I suppose it's probably not a solvable issue with smoking allowed in much of the building, but it should not be advertised as a non smoking room. Without that issue I would rate it 5 stars, but a room that cost $250 a night and advertised as non smoking shouldn't smell like smoke. Shame too, because it is a very nice room otherwise. Great if you're a smoker, stay far away if not. Would not recommend or return.
After talking to management I would rate this place a one star. They didn't seem to care about the issue at all.

Booked a non smoking room that still smelt like smoke. Staff is nice and check in was easy. The room is decently clean but could use a deeper clean. The casino itself is clean and the overall ambiance is decent.
Tropical pavilion stocked with thousands of butterflies & outdoor gardens designed to attract more.
Visiting the Butterfly house was a very cool experience. After entry, there's an awesome display including spiders, roaches, bugs and beetles. Further down, is the tropical solarium that houses the butterflies. There's something spiritual and magical about watching butterflies in their natural environment, I could've stayed for hours. We also had the opportunity to see a great number of chrysalis, butterflies were emerging from many of them. There are mirrors provided at the exit so you can make sure no butterflies are hitching a ride on you on your way out. The collection of plants was fantastic, and our group learnt a lot. The gift shop has the usual selection of tees, water bottles, magnets, etc and my daughter picked up a cotton butterfly print tee to commemorate her visit. Overall, we really enjoyed ourselves!

We have a membership through the Garden and wanted to do something on a slightly chilly Saturday. So we made the trip to the Butterfly House. My wife had been there before but it was my first visit.
Everyone we met was very helpful and friendly. No masks are required (it was Oct 2022) but we did notice that most (all?) workers had them on. Might be a thing for them?
We parked around back, making a more direct route to the door rather than parking in the main Faust Park lot and walking through the playground. Admission is free for members so that was easy and quick.
We were visiting just before Halloween and the displays were all decorated appropriately, with time-sensitive descriptions that fit the season. Very fun.
Visiting the atrium (?) where the butterflies live was pretty cool. Take your time, watch your step, and take videos/pictures as you go. Pace yourself and enjoy it. While we didn’t see any butterflies outside the exterior portion of the house was nice, probably more so in the spring.
We wrapped up our visit in the gift shop and even brought home a couple Christmas gifts. :-)

The Sophia M. Sachs Butterfly House is a St Louis jewel. Well maintained and thoughtfully laid out for a great visit for adults & children both. Pictures hardly do justice to the beauty found here. This is worth multiple visits per year during the changing seasons as the paths through the outside path area plantings are constantly changing. A beautiful visitors center with many great butterfly themed items. Drinks and snacks are available for reasonable prices. The staff was friendly, attentive and very helpful. If you need a respite from it all, you really can immerse yourself in a walk thru and I dare you not to smile! Well done to all the staff at The Sophia M. Sachs Butterfly House. KUDOS!!!

Hands-down the BEST place for anyone who loves butterflies. Simply stunning the time and care the Missouri Botanical Garden team and volunteers place into this landmark. Blown away every visit by the simple joy of butterfly harmony within the eco-sphere.

I cannot recommend this butterfly house enough! If you have never been, GO. The staff are wonderful and knowledgeable. The butterfly exhibit is big, beautiful, and contain a huge variety of different species of butterflies as well as many places to sit and a small waterfall. There is a small gift shop, garden outside, and a handful of small exhibits inside. Pricing was inexpensive; I believe we paid $21 for two adults and a child. There's no limit on how long you spend in there either. This was our second time visiting and loved it! I truly wish we weren't a 3 hour drive from here or we'd visit more often.

We had an incredible time at the butterfly house! We saw so many beautiful creatures and the staff was friendly and informative. They were able to answer all of our curiosities about the butterflies and took time to identify plants with us. It’s a great place to relax and take in the sights!

Had a fun day with the family visiting the butterfly house and the surrounding park. Went there early this morning and it wasn't so crowded yet. So many butterflies that surround you and the beautiful plants and tropical trees were so gorgeous! You can purchase a butterfly to release in the conservatory and it's a fun activity for the kids.

This is a neat little place. There isn't much to it besides the actual house for the butterflies, so plan accordingly.
I think this would be a wonderful place to bring a book, kick back on a bench and read in a simulated paradise with all the beautiful creatures flitting about you. Make sure that when you're finished you go check out the carousel that is a stone's throw away.
Dan Blakeslee — Google review
Such a beautiful experience! Even in the winter they have a fairly big space indoors to see butterflies. Some other small exhibits are here as well, a fairly mixed price gift shop depending on what you're looking for, and not incredibly strict appointments. The indoor space has many places to sit and watch the butterflies and there is an outdoor butterfly garden as well.

The butterfly house and gardens were smaller than we thought it would be, but the amount of butterflies were phenomenal. We even got to release a big blue butterfly.
I dont know what it entails to take care of so many butterflies but I do think the price for admission is a little high. That being said, I don't regret going and paying for it at all because it was a wonderful experience.
Plan on spending about an hour or less here.

$8 for an adult admission! The baby got in free.
We spent an hour walking around in the green house which was gorgeous. Waterfalls, incredible flowers from all over the country, butterflies flying all around. It's like a little paradise and totally worth the price.
Gift shop, educational theater and a children's program that you can pay for if you want.
Military get in free!
And the staff is so educated and loves to tell you about the species.

The place we visited with my husband , was truly beautiful. The tropical section with the butterflies was meticulously designed and incredibly successful. I saw various species of butterflies there. I observed that the butterflies were carefully preserved in the stages after they transformed from caterpillars.

They have a nice military discount which was super nice. Also the men’s AND women’s bathrooms have baby changing tables!!!! The butterfly house was beautiful and hot so drink lots of water before going in. We paid to release a butterfly and our kids loved that. The people were kind and very knowledgeable. Also there is like butterfly puzzles and activities in a room. We went there to cool down and easy spent an hour reading books and doing puzzles and young kid games. My kids are 2 years and 9 months and they both enjoyed it a lot!

SO MANY BUTTERFLIES! We took the kids, 5 and 2, and it was great. The staff is very friendly. In the same building is a little learning room for kids, with puzzles, books and games. The kids got a kick out of the cool bugs on display also. Outside is a great park and a carousel. (We didn't ride the carousel but it looked cool.)

This was an amazing stop. The outer grounds were beautiful and easy to walk. The inside had fun stuff for kids to learn and play with. The butterfly house was so nice to walk through with many specimens to enjoy.

The Butterfly House is a steeple of the west county area. Having beautiful flying creatures such as these butterflies landing on you and interacting with you is breathtaking. I fully and wholeheartedly enjoyed myself in every way possible. Hands down, I recommended the butterfly house to young and old. All ages can appreciate what they have to offer.
You have other insects that greet you while entering into the building. Several species are inside, along with a hands-on demonstration of a few unexpected critters(I won't ruin the surprise, you will not be disappointed). Children will fully enjoy that part. After that , they have themed activities such as coloring, identifying, and other various activities. Out the rear door is the garden. It's a massive space to enjoy snacks and the company of other guests.
The contained sanctuary is Amazing. The breathtaking colors and grace of the butterfly are something i recommend for all to see. 10/10.

This place is adorable. Went on a nice warm Saturday and the greenhouse wasn't too warm. My daughter even got to release a butterfly. We're considering a membership, especially since it works for the botanical garden. We'll definitely be back!

I LOVE this place!!! There were over 1,000 butterflies in the conservatory. Unfortunately you are not allowed to touch them as they are fragile and touching them can injure them. There’s a possibility they can land on you but I didn’t have any land on me. The butterflies seem to be well taken care of. Be mindful it was also very hot/humid in the conservatory, we took our jackets off. We even saw a lizard running around in the conservatory. The gift shop was SO cute! Bonus: there is a giant playground outside of the butterfly house as well as the St Louis carousel.

It's such a neat place to visit! They have over 1,000 butterflies in the conservatory, and they have hundreds of cocoons on display with their date they were received. It's cool for the kids to see the process and time difference! They have a few other insects on display, an educational butterfly video theater area, and a room of hands-on things for the kiddos to do! It won't occupy your whole day, but you could easily spend an hour or so there! Don't forget to check out the butterfly garden where there's more interactive things for the kids to do along the path!

I love butterflies and they made me really happy.
It costs $8 and that's definitely worth it.
Also the gift shop is very nice, I found some cute earrings there and spent a lot of money.

What a fun place to visit! We visited on a Sunday afternoon and spent about an hour and a half, though the outside gardens were not awake yet so I think you could definitely spend longer in the summer.
It was warm and humid in the butterfly area, but not uncomfortable. The butterflies are obviously awesome, but I liked checking out all of the plant life too. The woman who talked to us before entering seemed to really enjoy being there and sharing the space with visitors :)
I bought tickets online, since it seems to be their preferred method. You can purchase them there, though! At $8 per adult, I think it was definitely worth it.

Huge amusement park with high-speed coasters, kids' rides & water slides, plus live entertainment.
Love this smaller six flags park for it's unique coaster collection - Boss, Ninja, Screamin Eagle, American Thunder, River King Mine Train, etc. Just has a nice park layout and other guests are all very friendly and didn't mind sharing insights to tips or directions within the park. As a single rider, I got to ride with numerous other people who were all.very friendly. Overall great crowd and a nice park.
John Niehaus — Google review
Compared to the other 6 flags I've visited, this one is much lower quality. The employees serving you just look at you waiting for you to speak, then they serve you while continuing to not speak to you. This happened multiple times throughout our experience at the park.
All the rides were only running one train, so for a ride thats 3 minutes long it's about 5 minutes to get one wave of people through the ride.
Of all the six flags I've visited, this one rests at the bottom of the list, it's not held up to the same standard.

Really enjoyed all the steel coasters. The wooden ones are nice but they are rough, I can't ride them back to back without a break. Reline the tracks with metal tubing. They need to redo the walkway to The Boss coaster. It's ridiculously long with too many stairs.

First day of the new 2024 season. The Rookie racer is awesome my granddaughter was right at the height requirement and she loved it. On a bad note Pandemonium broke down in the middle of a ride so we didn't get to go on it and the Justice League wasn't open.

Finally had a chance to check this place out.. it was awesome! Line waiting was reasonable, food cost was average for theme parks in the Midwest... The atmosphere and esthetics we're all great to me. And the kids well, THEY LOVED IT!!!

Six flags of Sadness, 1/2 the rides are closed or broken. No water slides, no wave pool, no lazy river. Expected better on Memorial Day… seriously. Not worth the $50 ticket price. We are from Iowa and we’re planning to go to 2 more six flags in Texas. But not anymore. What a waste. And before the owner responds I should say, I am 50 years old and remember this park as a kid an have fond memories. I wish I could hand them down but no we won’t be giving six flags another chance. Sad to see an Another American icon ruined by poor management and greed.

Ummmm what the actual heck? Why? These prices are outrageous!! Unacceptable and no wonder it was dead on a Saturday in summer. I have enjoyed six flags for over 25 years, and my children enjoy it as well. But shutting down the most enjoyable rides like the thunder river... stop it. Fix it, please. Our future generations would appreciate the decision making adults in this business keep it as classic as it has been for decades.

A lot of the rides inside both the park and hurricane harbor were closed. The ones that were up and running were a lot of fun though. The food and drinks are pretty pricey but there are some fast food places nearby to choose from. We arrived when it opened, left for lunch then came back until they closed. Despite the amount of rides that were down, my kids (8, 12 and 14) all still had a lot of fun. I’m not a fan of roller coasters or rides in general myself and I still had a good time watching them all have fun.
We also took advantage of Hurricane Harbor. A few of the slides were closed which made the lines of the ones that were open very long. 45 mins for a water slide just isn’t worth it to me.

Really fun overall! The rides were fun, the food was very overpriced though. One slice of cheese pizza was $17.50 while a pepperoni pizza was $18.00

I'm going to brag on your staff! Everyone was super friendly and helpful when I didn't know where to go to activate my season pass! The rides that were open were fun and just what this working mom needed to remind myself why I work so hard. The rides batman, boomerang, and fireball had the most fun people as operators! They really kept the energy upbeat and silly. I wish just once that Mr.freeze would be working when I go as I've been for years and manage to have never seen it up and functioning. The games are challenging but still fun to do even when you miss every shot like me lol. I can't wait to go again and again this season! Thanks for keeping me young at heart and giving my kids the gift of amusement.

I always get the memberships for my family and pay monthly due to being on a fixed income and the payment plans are very good. I have been going to six flags since I was a little kid and now I take my kids and we always have a blast. Do to staffing issues over the last 2 years only certain rides are open but it's still a blast.

Fun place to let loose and enjoy with family and friends. The food and drink options are pricey but that's any amusement park. Rides were alternated back and forth to what was available to ride, I'm not sure if it was short staffing that caused this. It would be nice to see more water refill options throughout the park though. Great time overall.

Six Flags is a must-go on your summer break. The food might be a little overpriced but it has many restaurants near it that you can leave the park at any time and go eat for cheaper. Long lines under the sun so make sure to stay hydrated and to put sunscreen on every two hours or so. Also make sure to arrive early and go to the mr freeze ride first because the wait for that ride is insane so the earlier the better. If you have a flash pass waste it on this ride!! And most importantly have fun, stay safe, and be kind!

Great park. Clean and inviting. New and fun old coasters. Nice layout and organized. Parking is at front gate. We got in fast and hit ride after ride.

Overall this Six Flags is pretty decent. We came on Wednesday during summer and the crowd was not bad at all. The food is overpriced but they do have lots of places to cool off and get out of the heat. There could be a few more bathrooms or signs to bathrooms but otherwise this was a good, safe, fun, experience. We purchased all of our tickets passes and parking online. I do recommend doing that to save money.

Early in the season, you can tell some kids have never had a job before. All in all great start to Spring 2024! We had fun! We visit the main park and water park about 10 times a year.

I always loved going to this thing park as a kid. Now I get to take my kids to it. The lines are usually really long on the bigger rides, I would recommend getting the flash pass if you can afford the extra money. The Batman and Mr freeze are one of my favorite rides including the log flume also, if you plan on going more than two times for the year I would suggest the season pass, you also get food discounts and merchandise discounts with that and premier parking and also access to the water park. The water park is always really crowded into this hard to get on the slides. Overall a very good theme park.
Kevin Sletten — Google review
The rides are amazing but, the everything else is absolutely horrendous. My family attempted to get food and it took an hour and a half in between getting off our ride and getting food. They had multiple restaurants closed even though the app said they were open. There was also multiple advertisements for mobile ordering despite there not being mobile ordering available. We had to run around the park looking for an open restaurant and then 45 minutes in a line despite it only being a couple people long. The employees were incredible slow. And I not only work in food service but I WORK AT A THEME PARK this service was embarrassing to watch. The prices were also outrageous with most things being more expensive than disney world prices They also added a dollar charge on every transaction because...? When we eventually did get our food the portion sizes were extremely small the majority of the food was cold in the fries were burnt and tasted like old oil. We ordered a footlong hot dog when we received it was extremely dry, the bun was not cut so the hot dog wasnt in the bun, the hot dog was nowhere near a foot long it was slightly bigger than a regular hotdog, it was also just low quality with my family all agreeing they would rather have a gas station hotdog. Although the rides are amazing everything else in the park disappoints but actively pisses me off.

Staff was excellent dealing with a major ticket scanning issue. Bought tickets in August for Fright Fest and all 6 tickets were scanning as invalid. Had to wait in a very long line to speak with guest services who printed out new tickets which in total took up 45 minutes we could have been in the park. Then we had issues getting our fast passes into the Haunted Attractions. Again, tickets scanning as invalid. Every Haunted Attraction took anywhere from 15 to 30 minutes to get into because our tickets wouldn't scan so the fast pass was useless. Thankfully we ran into Shaun at Jingle who sped up the process a little bit when we went into Slaughterhouse. I will not bother with a Fast Pass again.

Weather excellent today with very few waits more than 15 minutes which is fast! Great rides and entertainment this year. Get your season passes and come see! Lots of fun for all ages😎 a few water park and a few rides were not open. The fireworks were awesome! Excited both sides and traffic was minimal.
J “Fast Eddie” Chowning — Google review
Plenty of coasters and other rides. They have a kids area with rides for the smaller kids who are not tall enough to ride the bigger rides. Lots of places to grab a bite then back to the rides! There is a decent size arcade. Can’t forget the water park for those hot and humid Summer days! We never leave the park without having a big ol turkey leg and for dessert a funnel cake! And as always, a great place to bring the family!
A leisure destination for St. Louisans in the early 1900s, now popular for hiking & mountain biking.
I'm not a nature person at all or one to consider hiking as a fun outing. However, I must say that I was beyond impressed with Castlewood State Park! I am not into exercise or fitness, but I am very much in love with the hiking trail here. It's a beautiful leisurely stroll with minimal exertion that you will wish wasn't over just yet as you reach the end. October is my favorite time to visit with all of the gorgeous colors. We hit the 2.7 miles trail around 10:30 a.m. which takes 2.5-3 hours with resting, gazing, playing & pictures. Afterwards, we enjoy a picnic lunch in one of the open meadows or picnic sites. If you're looking for a free or inexpensive date or family outing that's memorable & enjoyable for everyone, Castlewood will definitely impress you & your loved ones! It's just the perfect amount of outdoor adventure without overdoing it or hearing excessive complaints from tired or bored kiddos. Even the biggest of couch potatoes will love it, so drag your lazy family members too. I promise you will love it!

Wow, I just had the most fantastic time at this park! I came here yesterday and embarked on the Riverside trail, which was the Red Trail - a 4-mile loop hike that was incredible. The scenery was breathtaking, with stunning river views. The trails were well-maintained and easy to navigate, making the whole experience joyous. Honestly, this has got to be one of the most impressive parks in the entire STL area - I'm already planning my next visit!

I’ve been coming here since I was a little kid! Great place to bring the family for hiking and easy nature walks. They have paved and unpacked trails. You can hike, walk, bike and bring your dogs. They have a water front for hot summer days too. Parking is limited when the park gets crazy busy in the summer time but over all this place is a great place for summer hiking!

A St Louis classic hike, due to the proximity and its beauty. The full or shortened loop trail are perfect for a partial day adventure. The park is well maintained.

It was lovely! Going during a Tuesday morning, there wasn't a large crowd. The creek was decently clean water in the area. The clearings were prettyn the trees varried with ivy. Best of all, the trail looped around from the parking lot back to the parking lot.
Additionally, the picnic tables were many, there was a swing set, jungle gym, volleyball net, the restrooms, and there was plenty of parking!
Finally, there were so many frogs to find it was awesome!

This is my favorite park to visit. I visit at least once a week. I personally love the trails on the weekdays because there’s less people on it. My favorite trail here is the river scenic trail. There are many benches at the lookout points for you to enjoy the view. This trail specifically is a looped trail so you don’t have to back track. When you walk down the stairs and through the tunnel, you are then walking along the river on the bluff. It’s extremely relaxing as you listen to the water as hike.
Wear hiking shoes! You do go through many different terrains. First is pebbles and small rocks, then larger looser rocks, there is sand and dirty along this trail. This trail alone takes me about an hour and 20-ish minutes to complete.

Wow, that's incredibly exciting! A 3-mile trek with a hiking segment is absolutely amazing. The trails are diligently maintained, ensuring a pleasant experience, and the signboards are thoughtfully placed, providing clear guidance. Additionally, it's wonderful to hear that there's a spacious picnic and play area available. The presence of a railway passing through the park adds a unique charm to the surroundings. As the trail winds along the river, it must create a tranquil and picturesque atmosphere. And reaching the hill during the hiking portion to witness the awe-inspiring views of the surrounding area is simply breathtaking. Enjoy the adventure and soak in the beauty of the natural landscape!

Lone Elk Park is a vast area with scenic driving routes that offer the opportunity to observe various wildlife, including elk, bison, and deer. The park also boasts of a bird sanctuary. Visitors can enjoy walking trails and have a picnic while communing with nature. There is an impressive lookout point at the start of the drive, which provides fantastic views. Entrance into the park requires only a donation, making it accessible to everyone who loves nature and outdoor activities.
Lone elk is very cool. Our family has been only 3 times now but it's been a few great experiences. You can walk trails get to see the bison, elk, deer and they even have a bird sanctuary. Although I haven't been to see the birds. There is a pretty cool lookout at the beginning of the drive. We went on a trail our last time there and got to see some bison up close. Not too close... just a great place to go and see nature and have a nice picnic.

Lone Elk Park is such a magical place. From the sun beaming down on the lake with the hills surrounding it as you are driving. The grasslands, the wooded areas and the beautiful animals roaming around. The bison, the elk, deer, birds and other local wild life just living their little lives. This is a perfect park to just have your windows down, no music and to just enjoy nature. I often like to sit down and watch what the animals are doing for hours on end watching them graze and live life just as we do. This is a perfect place to take your family and boy do the animals get close so be careful!

Lone Elk Park is a gem in the St. Louis area. This park is over 500 acres and is is filled with wildlife. You can see elk, deer, bison, wild turkeys and other birds. It is also free to enter. (There is a donation box if you wish to give to the park.)
What makes it great is the options you have to see the wildlife. You can drive through the park or utilize the hiking trails. You can even fish there, but you need to make a reservation ahead of time. There are also shelters that you can reserve.
If you drive, be sure to take your time. (There are also spots where you can pull over, get out of your vehicle and let others pass.) It can be hit or miss on what wildlife you see. They say morning - before 8:00 am - is the best time to see the animals, because they feed the animals first thing in the morning.
However, on this trip, we went through around 11:00 am and saw elk, deer, bison and waterfowl. They were even close to the road and easy to view. (See pictures.)
Tip: You don't need all day at the park. You can drive the park in a relatively short amount of time if you wish. (20-30 minutes.) It is also close to the interstate.
Things to know:
- No motorcycles
- No pets, even if they are confined to the vehicle.
- Review their website for additional information
So, if you live in the area or are just passing through, be sure to make time to swing by Lone Elk Park. You won't be disappointed!

What a gem. If you are a nature or animal lover, this park is incredible. You can drive through the park and see elk and bison, possibly up close. When I was driving through the park there were about 10 elk swimming in the lake, a young bull elk stopping cars by walking in the middle of the road, a small pack of bison were in a pasture about 50 yards from the road, a mother raccoon was leading her 3 baby raccoons safely across the road and there were 3 massive bull elk relaxing along Elk Hollow Road.

This was my first visit to the park, and I enjoyed it very much. The Elk were definitely out and literally right next to the car! Unfortunately, we didn't get to see any Bison, even though we drove thru the area at least five times trying to spot some. We saw a family of raccoons and a herd of Elk cooling off in the lake on the property.

Visited an amazing park where we saw elk, deer, geese, and even bison—all from the comfort of our car! It was an unforgettable wildlife viewing experience, and we didn't even have to step out of our vehicle. Nature's wonders at their finest!

We always love going here to see the animals! We love to donate to help with the services provided by the park. There are pavilions, hiking trails and bbq pits. Tons of elk, bison and deer! Best part is the park is very well kept up as far as trash and roads.

My favourite place during fall!!!
It it one of the most beautiful place in St louis if u wanna experience the beauties of nature and walk with elks.
It would be a good idea to take some snacks and go around sunset. You can see the lake and the trees in the golden hour. We had a binoculars which was very handy.

Beautiful park with nice hiking trails. The park is well maintained and the animals are always fun to see! However, the visitors maybe need even larger “stay in your vehicle” or “do not approach animals” signs. (Sarcasm of course!)
Every time we visit, some dumb dumb is within charging distance of the animals.. like these two ladies literally within 10ft of the bison today.. they may look docile but can kill you. Don’t be stupid.

The place is amazing…
It’s very beautiful to see Bisons, elks and lots of deer roaming freely around.
It’s free of charge and must say it’s one of the hidden gem near St. Louis.
The overall vibe of the park is very good.

Looking for a budget-friendly getaway? Explore Lone Elk Park – it operates on donations and offers a scenic drive-through experience. Encounter bison, elk, and raccoons freely roaming throughout the park. A gentle reminder: refrain from feeding the animals.

Fun little park not too far from St Louis. You ll get to see Elks, Bison, Turkey and other wildlife. White Bison trail is an awesome trail to see the park and see wildlife up close!

Nice place to get out of the city for a few minutes. Would like to come back when it's a little warmer but enjoyed seeing the elk and bison. Smaller than what I thought it was but still nice.
Bathrooms were down for maintenance, but porta johns were in place if needed.

Lone Elk Park is just west of St Louis and a pretty neat place to drive or walk through. Get close to bison and elk in your car, or get out and walk along the paths that get you even closer! There are places to picnic and spend time with a small group.
A terrific statue, sans glasses. Robert was a very noble and good human being who justly the honor done to him. Up he showed the world that just because something might appear wonderful it can also be a disability but yet through it all he came through with grace and courage.

Great for teaching kids! You can reach them about genetics and math (size and scale) and then go see his statue. Kids love to sit in his chair or stand next to him/ under his hand. Lovely tribute to Mr. Wadlow.

A real piece of history!! The world's tallest man! Stand next to him and see how you stack up to him. Put your shoe next to his and see the difference. Sit in his specially made chair. You will get lost in it! He is buried in a cemetary very close by. Don't miss stopping by.

I guess that statue is life size? It would be nice if there was an bio board with some details. Maybe we missed it

This is a fun photo op to make when visiting Alton, Illinois! Robert only lived to be 22 because he got an infection in his feet which killed him. #bucketlist
Robert Wadlow was the tallest man to have ever lived. He was born in Alton in 1918 and at the time of his death in 1940, Wadlow measured 8-feet, 11.1 inches tall. He is named in the Guinness World Records book.

Wow! You just don't realize how tall a 9 foot guy is until you stand next to one!
This is a interesting and sad story as he only lived to 22 years old.
Worth the stop if near the area.

Such an interesting bit of history. It's very sobering to see in person how tall he really was and imagine how uncomfortable he must have been his entire life. Worth the visit.

This is a small tribute to the Gentle Giant. It is in a small grass area with brick walkway that is more of an in-memorium of the local celebrity than a it is a park. Nonetheless this is a worthwhile visit because you can stand next to a life sized sculpture and replica chair that he used.

We were so excited to stop and see the statue of the tallest man in the world. It was raining so no one was there. If you are in the area, stop and check it out! Also research Robert Wadlow. Very interesting!!
Educational exhibits about the Mississippi River & tours, plus a working lock & dam.
I was delighted to visit this historic place. John was our tour guide and he was so enthusiastic about the history of this dam. There is a lot to see inside the museum as well as the free tour of the dam. My most favorite part was up top of the dam overlooking the river right as a barge came in. This place would be fascinating for both young and old so do yourself a favor and go visit!!

Nice free small museum. Unfortunately a lot of the interactive displays were broken. The tour was only three times a day so plan accordingly. Hopefully the displays will be fixed in the future. It would have been nice to have the interactive pilot house working.

Took a day trip and stopped here. The museum was very interesting but we didn't know there were tours. Next time we will be better prepared. The staff are kind and knowledgeable, the building, grounds, and exhibits well kept. Free
Highly recommend as long as you check what time the tours start and they have movies.

Really cool and informative tour of the lock. You are able to go all the way out to the middle and look out over the Mississippi. The museum itself is also very neat and interactive, great for families with children.
Autumn Davis — Google review
Our tour guide K was very knowledgeable and kind. She wore a mask the whole time which we appreciated but didn't enforce mask wearing in the building for the most chatty guy of the group. He kept talking and talking but wearing his mask on his chin with his mouth and nose exposed. Definitely tried to stay very far away from him and he made the experience uncomfortable for us. Why bother wearing a mask on your chin at all if you aren't going to wear it right?
The museum was a fun, short pit stop (other than the disrespectful guy above the rules). It was a bummer that the elevator to go to the top was broken so make sure you call ahead and check on the status if you are hoping for some good outside views. It's free though so totally worth it to stop. Spent less than an hour here.
Ask tour guide K about fish! Just do it!

Great educational experience about the Dam and history around St Louis Mississippi River. We even saw a live Eagles nest from looking into their telescope. Free Tour of Dam, it’s not a long tour but very educational.

The very good exhibits provided a good understanding of the workings of the rivers in this area. The barge captain simulator was my favorite. We visited on a day where a festival was going on so the lock tours were semi self guided. The staff was very kind.

Very interesting place to visit. Working in the Wood River area and found this museum. Alot of information on the history for the Mighty Mississippi River! Also they have a tour of the Lock itself and alot of hands on things to do for the little one's to make it fun for all ages. If in the Wood River or Alton IL area and have extra time, I recommend you take a visit to this museum.

Great information about the impact of rivers on the local economy, as well as descriptions and examples of local plants and animals. We did not arrive at a time where a tour was convenient, but hoping to do so next time. 3 different times were offered and I am certain it would have been worth our time.

This is a donation only museum located in Alton, Illinois near the River. They offer tours of the museum which includes going in areas that are only able to be accessed while on a tour.
The Saint Louis Art Museum is a world-renowned art institution with collections spanning centuries of artistic achievement. With works by masters like Bartolomeo Manfredi, van Gogh and Rembrandt on display, the museum also attracts top-quality touring exhibitions.
First-class free museum (except for special exhibits) with something for everyone. Classics or modern, painting or sculpture, this museum has it. We were impressed with the very good, helpful explanations for each piece. Lots of free parking and a stunning view over Forest Park. This is definitely a sampling of "everything art." - From classic paintings, famous artists, and cultural art ranging from a variety of American Indian cultures to Egyptian to the various art revolutions, and even modern art, this museum has it all. Various furniture pieces and fully furnished rooms of historical times give the viewer a sense of what a room would look like during the period of time and location portrayed. It has so much, I could see visiting and focusing on particular aspects and needing to come back multiple times to appreciate all that they have to offer.

My wife and I went to the Saints Louis Art Museum on a Saturday a little before noon. It wasn't very crowded at all. It definitely feels more like an art museum than an art gallery which I think I prefer. Lots of art ranging from paintings, pottery to medieval armor and mummies. I had read it would take about 2 1/2 hours to see everything, well after 5 hours, we still hadn't seen everything. This place has a lot to see, and if you take your time it can take up a whole day. We really enjoyed our visit here and will definitely be coming back in the future.

This museum is great. It is so big, it will take you at least 2 days to see everything, maybe more.
I personally would like to see just a few more places to sit throughout the exhibits for those like my friend who has mobility issues. (He can't stand/walk for long periods of time).

The diversity of the collection is impressive, featuring everything from ancient artifacts to modern masterpieces. Whether you’re a seasoned art enthusiast or just looking for a cultural experience, there’s something here for everyone.
The museum itself is a work of art, with a beautiful building and grounds that are a pleasure to explore. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable, always willing to answer questions and provide insight into the pieces on display.
Admission to the museum is free, making it accessible to all. This, combined with the quality of the collection and the overall experience, makes the Saint Louis Art Museum a must-visit for anyone in the area. I can’t recommend it enough!”

Easy to spend a whole day here. Lots of famous paintings and art. Many unique collections. We had a great time! We didn't even see the paid exhibit but the rest of the museum is free. Cafe was OK. Only gripe was the many guests loudly talking and kids running around. You're supposed to be QUIET at an art museum.

I was recommended to visit the free Saint Louis Art Museum during my stay in St. Louis. I'm glad I did too because this museum has a wide variety of art including sculptures, artifacts, ceramics and paintings. I came hoping to find some inspiration and broaden awareness of art history and left feeling as if I accomplished that mission. Thank you for a lovely time!

Like so many other amazing stops in St Louis, the Art Museum is free. 3 levels of art collections from every culture and genre. Everything you can imagine. Also has a gift shop and a small cafe. One really unique thing they have is they've taken the inside of some historic American homes and relocated them here inside the museum. Love visiting here. Outside there is the view on Art Hill, overlooking the water and fountains. Its very nice and a lot of people had professional photos done outside of the museum. Parking around this area is the biggest challenge. Depending on when you go there might be an open spot in the free lot. Otherwise, there is the museum garage that costs, or you can street park, but expect to walk a few blocks. Don't try and park in illegal spaces. The park rangers are out in force.

This was one of the best museum experiences I have had. The exhibits were beautiful and the museum is large. My husband and I spent 3 hours walking through the museum and we could of spent all day. They have a restaurant on site. We didn’t eat there but the menu looked appetizing and the prices were reasonable. The park in front of the museum is very beautiful and relaxing.

One of the most remarkable aspects of visiting this stunning and beautiful museum on Fridays is the price: FREE !!
As a StL County resident, I parked in Forest Park - Education Center Visitor parking lot and jumped on a SLAM "Art in Bloom" shuttle bus. In less than 5 minutes drive, the shuttle driver delivered us safely & directly in front of the museum (on top of the majestic Art Hill).
This morning I relished the time in the SLAM galleries. I not only enjoyed the incredible blooms and floral displays, but also the accompanying pieces of art work.
And March 1, 2024 was one of those rare SLAM Fridays!! I was also blessed to immerse myself in: Matisse and the Sea. I rediscovered a Francophone artist I had loved years ago. I was grateful for the QR code audio tour, the geographical tour, and countless ways that this exhibition is inclusive:)
SLAM goes above the call of duty to not only make art accessible for all, but more importantly demonstrates that art can unify us ... young & old, conservative & liberal, male & female,
Final kudos go to Rosemary (lovely volunteer) who inspired me!

The only other art museum that I've been to that rivals this one is the Denver Art Museum, and that location charges you.
This is a free art museum with multiple floors of some of the most breathtaking pieces that you've ever seen. The amount of genuine treasure they have is amazing, and their cultural sections have a ton to offer. My favorite is their Egypt exhibit.
You can expect to spend between 2-4 hours there if you've never been before. If you are looking for entertainment and you are new to Saint Louis, this should be near the top of your list.

Visiting with friends at the Art Museum The Hip Hop Ego event "THE CULTURE" Expanding my experience with hip-hop music in St. Louis. I thought the experience was enlightening. I liked and appreciated the symbolism from some of the pieces. The exhibit "camouflage" was impressive. Ascension was another display with a meaning. This exhibit conveys the trials and tribulations the Hip Hop culture has endured. Knowing this struggle, they continue to express their life through their music and fashion. This is worth the price of admission. As you leave the exhibit, there is a print of St. Louis Hip hop artists is on display as a tribute of the East Coast artists.

The Saint Louis Zoo is a world-renowned institution and one of the top zoos in the country. It features animals such as penguins, bears, and elephants, as well as a train ride. Admission is completely free for visitors, but some attractions are ticketed.
What a great time! This was for my sons class field trip. The animals were all out, not hiding in the back. I love that people have to make reservations to be there. I think that helps so it is not so crowded. So much better not walking into people every time you turn around. Was able to get some great pics of the animals. Enjoy!!

The zoo is free, but the parking is $15.
We started our day with a behind the scenes giraffe tour. I posted a tour review under the link for the giraffes.
We also watched a mini sea lion show. It was a mini show because they are practicing for the full length shows that will start in a couple of weeks.
The zoo is kept clean, and the people who work there seems to really love their jobs. Most of them were very happy to share so much information with us about the animals. Many of the buildings are historical, with a few that were built for the World’s Fair.
The exhibits had information for each animal. I appreciate the numerous signs asking patrons to not bother/harass the animals, and a phone number to allow anyone who witnesses concerning behavior to report it.
I would love to see most of the animals in bigger enclosures. Even if that meant they had fewer varieties of animals. I did appreciate that most of the exhibits had a wide variety of live plants and trees in them.
Our funnel cake was delicious. The gift shop staff was very nice. We loved our visit!

The most beautiful and fun part of the St. Louis zoo are the gorgeous native wildflowers in bloom! I loved to see interesting pollinators at work. Great idea to start replacing the stinky fuel trains with electric trains. I prefer the train ride connection around the elephant house as opposed to the stinky train rides through dark tunnels. We were expecting to see more sights from the train and we can't recommend the added expense! The penguin and puffin indoor exhibits were a fantastic way to cool off from the heat and sun. They are so amazingly cute! I loved walking through the butterfly enclosure for close encounters with a nice variety of butterflies. The grizzly bears were fascinating to see eating what looked like frozen blocks of food. They showed their intelligence using various strategies to break apart the food blocks. I was deeply sad to witness the tiny enclosure for the polar bear and wish it a happy and free life in a better, more wild place. I hope that it can be given more room to move, swim and be free. 🐻❄️ This zoo would get a higher rating from me if it weren't for how upsetting it is to see our cramped polar bear friend trapped and sad.

What a day! We have been to this zoo over a dozen times, and it never gets boring. The additions for various animals and new habitats make it a fun time. As a St Louis resident, the STL zoo is my number one favorite place to hang out in the city.
Whether it’s busy or slow, hot & humid or cold & rainy this is always the place I am always drawn too.
If you are just visiting the city the zoo needs to be on your list of places to visit.
It has 2 entrances and both are easily accessible. It’s free to enter and there is so much to see. Every person who works here is friendly, knowledgeable and works to create a great experience.
The facilities are always clean and there are so many vending choices that there is rarely a wait. You can also always bring your own picnic in and eat in the grassy field areas in the middle of the park. It’s a nice quiet space with picnic tables and lots of grass to get away with your group for a bit and eat or just chill for a bit.
If it’s super hot or cold you can always count on enjoying the bug house. It’s indoors and it’s wonderful for kids. Then at the end you can walk through the temp controlled butterfly dome which is just amazing.
Seriously do not hesitate to visit this place, it’s a true gem of the city.

We love the St Louis Zoo for many reasons. Most recently, we visited for event called Animals Aglow. The animals, of course, are the best part. The atmosphere is always wonderful. They have some great events the whole family can enjoy, such as Boo at the Zoo and Christmas lights. Last but not least, the admission to enter the Zoo is free.

I love the St. Louis Zoo! It’s really the perfect size where you can see everything in one visit but there is still a lot to see. The Penguin exhibit is one of the nicest I’ve ever see and definitely my favorite of the exhibits and it was the only place besides food vendors and gift shops that we ever ran into lines even when there tickets were sold out. If you’re going during busy times- weekends, holidays, spring break, summer break I’d definitely recommend making reservations ahead of time. It also took us about 45 minutes to park on a nice day so keep that in mind parking when you’re planning your day at the zoo.

Beautiful zoo! And it is free! They charge for a few of the attractions but they are geared more for smaller kids (Dino, train, petting stingray.) The bird house was one of my favorite exhibits. We also loved the penguin exhibit and how close we were able to get to them. It felt like we entered their habitat, but without disturbing them. Oh, and the Grizzlies! Really, a great zoo.

This is one of the best zoo in the US. This place is huge. It’s FREE. Only charge $15/ vehicle for parking. It’s a lot better than Washington DC Smithsonian zoo. Each habitat was well maintained. Animals were healthy and happy. Be sure to bring good walking shoes. We spent about 3.5 hours here. And walked about 4 miles. We wanted to see all of them. And for us the highlight was definitely penguins exhibit. We got to see them so close. This is by far my favorite zoo.

Fantastic zoo!!! If you plan on seeing the whole thing, I would highly suggest planning for a whole day there as the zoo is huge!!! The dinosaurs are worth the money, super cool, and the kids loved it! The train is nice but you're not allowed to bring any stroller on which can be difficult when you have small children. This zoo is so much fun, and is great exercise!

Amazing! If you love penguins, you have to go to this zoo. It's free to visit, but $15 to park. For $8, you can get a wristband to ride the train all day long. It is great for traveling between sections of the zoo, especially on a hot day.

Free zoo! Visited on Labor Day weekend (Saturday at 11 AM). It took a long time to get parking and it was hard to find spots (there is a fee to park). A lot of people parked across the bridge and walked.
It was very hot out so many of the animals were sleeping. We were able to bring in reusable water bottles and a few snacks.
The butterfly room is really special. I would recommend going early in the morning.

What can I say. You can't beat free. But for real this zoo was amazing. I wish I had more time to visit all the exhibits. The park was clean and wasn't overcrowded when I went. This is a beautiful zoo located in Forrest Park! It was very clean and had wide, accessible paths. Staff were very friendly and accommodating. We went on a Monday at opening. It is free to get in and view your favorite animals!! I would check the website for the things that cost money. There is a mini train that encircles the property that does have a fee, for instance. Parking at the site is $15. My husband and I parked at a free lot, near the art museum, that was a 5 minute walk away! Loved this place!

We loved going to the Zoo! Growing up in San Diego we always loved the San Diego Zoo so it was a fun experience and see another large Zoo. Free admission is amazing! Buying the additional attractions is a fun plus for those who want a few extra things to do. The wrist bands made it easy to walk into the extra attractions without having to keep track of tickets. It was clean and well kept. If you are a member of the Zoo the attraction tickets are 50% off. If you are a member of any local Zoo they will honor the 50% off as long as you show the active membership. I didn't know that until I walked up to the window to purchase our tickets, so that was a bonus! We went during the Halloween season and the decorations were awesome! We ate lunch at the Lakeside Cafe. The lines looked long but they were pumping food out quickly. The standard kid friendly options are available and some adult options as well. They did offer alcohol, limited selection but it was offered at a reasonable price actually. The food wasn't crazy priced either, but what you would expect from any fast food place in 2023. Getting around was easy even when it got congested with people. It was a cooler day when we went so the animals were active and out playing. Overall it was a great experience all day and we will definitely make our way back to spend more time looking at all the animals.

Keeping in mind that I have only been to this zoo... I can never get enough! We are annual zoo members to the St. Louis zoo, we enjoy supporting their various conservation efforts, as well as their animal variety. We, as a zoo family, have watched many of their enhabitants grow from babies alongside our own growing family. They have a lot to experience and have many "pay to experience" options as well such as stingrays and giraffe feedings. We love that our annual zoo sippers can be reused year after year, so everyone has their own favorite color and animal. Their parking is reasonable for a family or large group, but they offer free nearby lots as well. They have many accessibility options like wheelchairs, scooters, strollers, and sensory kits, making it fun for the whole family! They have a ton of food options and misting fans to cool off in the hot summers. If you haven't been, I recommend going at least once to see all that the zoo offers.

Nice zoo. Wasn’t crowded at all. Very hot out would recommend bringing personal fan or coming on a cool day. Gift shop items were reasonably priced. Also if you choose to touch the sting rays be aware of the fact that there Is no soap to wash your hands with. Everything was good except for the fact that you still need to pay for refills with the souvenir cup otherwise great experience.

Loved our time there! Even though a lot of the animals were MIA this time of year and it was under 40 degrees out, but the ones that were out and about were so fun to watch. Parking was $15, but free admission! That’s amazing that such an awesome zoo is free to the public.

What a great zoo! It was truly a beautiful set up and maintained zoo with plenty to do! The admission was free for the entire family which is a huge plus, and there are a few paid attractions in the zoo which were worth the money, but entirely optional. The food was tasty and prices fairly. The animals looked to be well taken care of and had nice big enclosures. The zoo was huge and had much more to do and see than we were expecting coming from a smaller city with a much smaller zoo. Spent 4 hours here and honestly could have spent even more time to see and do everything. If you enjoy zoos at all this is absolutely a must visit if you're in the area!

This is a beautiful zoo! The vibrant metal art really bring a happy vibe throughout as you're walking through the grounds. It was pleasant surprise and to enter is free! I would definitely recommend this Zoo. I think due to the time of year (late March) much of the food places were closed - but there were tons of options! Parking close is $20 but there is also a lot of street parking if you don't mind walking a little. I look forward to visiting again!

This is a high quality free zoo. I was surprised with how good it actually was. Staff seemed knowledgeable and although it was busy on my visit-lines went by quickly. Parking at the official zoo parking lot cost $15 but I would rather pay that then drive around forever trying to find a place. I always wish animals had more space at every zoo- but I think the upkeep of this zoo surpasses many others I've seen. Great place to pass an hour or two.

What a great experience! There were some animals not out yet, due to the temps, but overall it was fantastic! Definitely recommend this Zoo! The sea lion show was fun and my kids loved it! After 5 hours, we still hadn't seen it all. We will definitely return to finish seeing all the animals.

The St Louis Zoo is one of the best zoos that you will ever visit. It it free to get into the zoo. You can pay for parking, or you can park for free on the street or museum parking lots. The animals are so well taken care of, the enclosures are always clean and you can tell that a lot of work gets put into them. You can bring food or buy food there. The zoovenir cups are a great deal. It's under $2 per refill, any time you come back. The animals are pretty much always easy to see. The kids always have such a great time. I HIGHLY recommend a visit or 3 to this zoo. After you're done, take the path near the south entrance, across the highway and visit Turtle Park. It's very unique and super cute.

I wish I had more time to spend here when we went! First off, its free!! Can't beat free! There are so many amazing exhibits and works of art featured here. My family had a great time venturing around and checking out all the animal enclosures. Will definetly be making this a regular place to visit when in St Louis!

Beautiful zoo. Lots of amazing animals that all look very well taken care of. Had a wonderful time here. Also very nice that it is free so you can come visit even if you're on a budget

FREE ZOO! Thanks to a local tax that supports museums the St. Louis Zoo charges no admission fee. I've visited since a child but it's been a while.
Some of the same charm remains with upgrades added. Plan on walking a bit.
You can ride a train(about $15) which will take you to the different sections of the zoo exhibits. The train has a wheel chair access car. Pictures are just not good enough. This zoo is worth the visit.
Parking is $20. Some parking spaces available on the streets with an added walk.

Amazing zoo, the best part was how the animals were active all through and the ample space that they were allocated. It was a real treat to see cheetah, tiger, rhino, elephants, etc. The zoo is big and beautifully maintained. The metal sculptures throughout the zoo added to its beauty. The zoo is free to visit but one needs to pay for parking. Free parking is available on streets, but you would need to walk for about 10 mins. It's worth visiting again :-)

We went on Good Friday the last time we visited, so it was packed. When it's not as packed it is even more enjoyable. The animals are well taken care of and the zoo is clean! And free entry is so nice.
The 1,371-acre Forest Park in the city of St. Louis is a vast landscape of green hills and woodland walks providing a place to hike, picnic, ice skate, golf and more. In winter, visitors can enjoy running and other outdoor activities in shorts and pants alongside people enjoying the sun and fresh air.
Love this place!! It has great walking trails, gardens, wooded areas and streams through out the park. Great things for the family; from a great park, a zoo and discovery animals to play and ride on, and picnic areas. Every part of the park has something to offer! A planetarium, boat house, jewelbox, zoo, history and art museum all free to the public. Also a golf course for the adults.

This park is amazing. The only parks I've been to that compare are Central Park and Golden Gate. It absolutely massive and beautifully designed and laid out. You can spend a few days exploring all there is to see. The art museum and the zoo are both free and world class. I had a great time exploring and taking pictures.

This is an amazing park with multiple areas of activities for family activities. It was really busy this weekend so it was difficult to drive through some areas but it was still a great experience for the family. We got adventure passes for the zoo online which made getting into events easier. The train lines were too long so we walked the whole zoo and had a great time.

Forest Park is the coolest park in the country. Seriously. The paths through and around the park deliver you from the golf course and swanky unique homes through a wildflower abundant re-wilded grassland and deposits you at the entrance of the Zoo (which is FREE)! Choose a different route and you are circling the Missouri history museum (also free) bursting with interactive exhibits, gliding past the jewel box, and strolling into a planetarium 🪐! The things you could see and do for free are mind boggling! I have gotten so much exercise and sunshine just because Forest Park is so alluring. There is a massive hospital on one end and a university on the other. Gorgeous architecture lines the bordering streets. Many paved and unimproved paths to explore. I ❤️ STL

The largest city park in the country with 1,300 acres.
There is so much to do here from hiking to museums, it has pretty much everything (except volleyball).
At the tennis pavilion, you can rent courts for $10/hour.
Entry to the Jewel box is $2.
Ice skating in the winter at the outdoor rink for $10.
The Zoo & the museums are free though!
Tons of trails and lots of parking alongside the roads and also quite a few lots.
The park is well maintained and there are quite a few bathrooms throughout.

This is a gorgeous park situated in a perfect part of town. Plenty of trails to walk with benches scattered throughout to rest and enjoy nature. Tennis courts, kayaking, canoeing, golf, trails, benches and plenty of open spaces for kites and picnicking make this entire park a picture-perfect spot to relax and explore.

This is a fantastic park. It is larger than Central Park. The St Louis Zoo is located here. The naturescape area is really unique. I haven't seen that before. My daughter loved it. I didn't get to see the boatyard, but I did drive by. It would be a great area for walking, running, biking, etc.
The park is located just off the highway and only a few minutes from downtown. Also, the zoo is FREE (unless you consider parking). I truly wish there was a park like this where I live.

A wonderful park! Always love coming here, no matter the weather. It's fantastic for walking and biking, and a good portion of the paths are paved and wheelchair accessible. There are so many cool hidden spots- like the natural playground and the butterfly garden.

This is by far my most favorite park in and around the St. Louis area that I love going to. It's aesthetically and naturally beautiful all throughout the park. It's a great place for biking, walking, picnicking, reunions, and just simply taking in the views from wherever you decide to you want to go within the park. There are several places I really enjoy, such as the St. Louis Zoo, the World's Fair Pavillion, the museum, just to name a few. If you're ever traveling through this town and looking for a really nice park to visit, stop on by Forest Park. You won't be disappointed.

We live an hour away and have made the trip to the zoo many times but haven't spent any time in Forest Park. Today we took advantage a beautiful early spring day to walk around and spent time discovering the Nature Playscape with my daughter and grandsons. They love to climb and there are rock walls and tree sculptures everywhere. The park is loaded with daffodils of all different varieties blooming right now. Plenty of trails paved and natural mulch.
Do Whatmakesyouhappy — Google review
Such a HUGE park with so many pockets of areas to explore. Running trails are maintained and there were security people posted around the park (maybe that’s a good sign? Or not?)
If you are interested in bridges, this place has dozens of them crossing over paths, waterways, streets, and more. Some are historic with plaques to read their past.
Went on a cloudy day, but still enjoyed all the sights. Definitely plan to make a trip back once everything turns green.

Passing through and made a quick stop here. Dog friendly park. Beautiful area to walk around and see the grounds. Zoo is also in this area. I didn't go there but saw the entrance as I was exiting the park. It was beautiful with metal sculptures.

A truly awesome sprawling park!
Features include many, many open grassy areas, wooded areas, ponds, wetlands and small prairies. The history museum, art museum, zoo and more all have free admission. The MUNY outdoor theater has very frequent performances. At the concession you can rent paddle boats, kayaks, paddle boards, and canoes.
The multitude of trails provides excellent paths for running, walking and biking.

The zoo is always free but the food, train and a few special experiences do cost a little. Still reasonably priced for a zoo but not cheap as you might imagine. Absolutely loved our experience. Our daughter is 7 and the trains were the highlight for her. We're definitely going again.

Wow, Forest Park in St. Louis during autumn is like walking through a painting! The trails were unreal with colors that photos just can't do justice. Reds, oranges, and yellows lit up the trees, making each step feel magical. It's hard to believe you're in the middle of a city when you're surrounded by such natural beauty.
The trails themselves are superb, well-maintained, and easy to follow. Perfect for a run. The vibe is relaxed; people jogging, couples taking in the scenery, and even some photographers trying to capture the perfect fall shot. You'll find spots where the canopy of leaves is so thick, it's like walking under an umbrella of colors.
Despite it being a busy park with a zoo, museums, and other stuff, the trails give you this sense of peace and isolation. If you get the chance to visit in the fall, don't miss it. The autumn colors make it a whole different experience, one you won't forget.

I ride the bike path once a week and simply love it. I must add that they are currently doing lots of work on or by the paved bike path, so be prepared for some heavy equipment or closed sections.

I am an avid park-goer, and let me tell you, this park is HUGE!!! Many parts of the park have different things to see, such as museums, castles, the zoo, restaurants, boat rides, and so much more. I have been to the park three times, and each time, I check different parts to see new things. Moving to STL, this has become one of my favorite parts of my day off. I come here to enjoy the scenery and take my pup out for his daily exercise. I highly recommend checking out this park!

Planetarium at the St. Louis Science Center since 1963, with live star shows & interactive exhibits.
Pretty neat place for you to bring your family. It's a great place to learn about science and see how some common things work. It's free to enter, but some attractions require you to purchase tickets. There's free street parking if you're willing to walk a couple minutes. You can also park at forest park and walk through from the planetarium side.

Very kid friendly, but hoping for more informational stuff. The planetarium was the best part of the museum for me and a friend without kids. If we had kids definately would be a place I would take them. Very interactive and fun! They are a few food places, but mostly movie theatre type food though. They have an Imax as well.
Tara Miller — Google review
Another great, free gem for our city. So many exhibits and areas to explore. Throughout the many floors, you can learn about all things science! There are Hands-On activities and artifacts as well as demonstrations and shows. It's a great place to spend the day with kids of all ages. There are other activities for additional cost such as toddler areas, educational movies and interactive exhibits. The video game exhibit on the bottom floor was a little lacking since there were many things that were out of service. The kids always love exploring the dinosaur area and seeing some fossils and geological finds from our area is always cool. We usually park over at the planetarium and walk across the bridge to view the cars driving below but the parking lot has been closed for some time. Unfortunately, the only other parking besides street parking which is 3 hours, is the science Center lot which costs $12. If you purchase a movie ticket you only pay $6 for parking. They offer military discount for service members on several paid offerings. There are concessions and drinking fountains throughout. We really enjoyed the vault area which can be found on the planetarium side of the bridge. Definitely check it out if you're in the St Louis area. We are grateful for this great addition to the city!

Fun museum! I like that it’s catered to a lot of different ages.
A lot of unique topics are covered here, which makes it interesting! The water exhibit and gaming areas were particularly fun. Would recommend if you’re in the area.
It’s free but you do have to pay for parking ($10 I believe).

We had so much fun at the St. Louis Science Center. It’s probably the best science center I’ve ever been to and it’s awesome that it’s free. We will definitely go again. I only expected to spend maybe 2 hours but we spent 3 and only left then because we had other reservations. You could easily spend 4+ hours. The video game display could use a little attention though many of those items did not work as intended.

Brought my friend to this First Friday’s DUNE night, and I was blown away! I haven’t been to the science center in such a long time, but I will be back as often as I can after tonight. Every thoughtful piece included in tonight’s activities was perfect! Loved the “Water of Life” mocktail. I have been meaning to attend a planetarium show but can never make it work during the day, I was so excited to be able to for tonight…and for free! I just think it was such a great inclusive event and I can’t wait to go to next month’s. Thank you!!!

Another free STL activity. Though you do pay $15 to park. The science center is huge. It tends to only get crowded during big events. Everything science from video games to skeletons, dinosaurs, gardens, architecture, space exploration, and more . It is huge. There's the overpass across I64 connecting the other side of the science center and kids get a few fun activities walking walking across.

First time back here without young kids in tow. The Omnimax show "Deep Sky" was incredible, and the Planetarium's "Constellations" show was a great introduction to star-gazing. The exhibits between the Science Center and Planetarium were very cool, especially the retro science fiction items. Happily surprised to experience the Dr. Who memorabilia and "actual size" TARDIS (sadly, could not enter to confirm the "actual size" claim 😉).
Why one star off? One word: parking. $15, and though you can "pre pay" inside on your way out, it doesn't change the fact that it still takes too long to get through the exit gate one car at a time. And you can't park or enter on the Planetarium side anymore at all. Go on a Sunday and park free on Oakland to avoid this.
The Cathedral Basilica of Saint Louis is a towering historical building with intricate mosaics that took over 80 years to complete. The cathedral is a popular destination for guided tours, and it also offers self-guided tours that are open any time except during Mass or special events.
An absolutely stunning cathedral. The main chapel was closed for remodeling, so my wife was able to attend Mass beneath the cathedral in St Cecelia's Chapel, at the end of a limestone corridor. The parishioner who showed us how to get down there said it was "in the belly of the Earth," and it definitely had that feel.

This is one of the most beautiful churches I have ever visited, particularly in the United States. I rank it much above St. Patrick’s in NYC. The mosaics are breathtaking, containing over 41 million pieces of glass that were installed over 76 years by generations of the same family. I cannot recommend a visit to this great Catholic church highly enough, especially if you love art and architecture.

We hopped on a basic trolley tour of St. Louis, and boy were we delighted that this was a stop along the way (the only stop where we deboarded). Over 40 million mosaic tiles painstakingly installed over 40 years - I think that my mouth was open the entire time. It's best to visit outside of the worship schedule so that you can tour the entire interior.

Unquestionably the most gorgeous church I've set foot in. I was fortunate enough to attend Easter Sunday mass. The church was full to the brim with fellow worshippers. The magnificent beautiful shone through like sunlight through a stained glass window. The walls are adorned with several biblical scenes that are famous and well represented. The priest was full of the holy spirit and his homily was amazing. If you're passing through the area on the weekend, your Sunday obligation should be spent here.

Absolutely stunning architectural masterpiece in St. Louis!
To find this unbelievably European craftsmanship in St. Louis was really not on my list of expectations. This has to be one of the most beautiful churches in the nation, potentially worth noting on the global scale. With architecture this beautiful, it’s hard not to feel a sense of divinity in the room. Had me questioning my atheism (ok, not really, but you know what I mean).
Truly stunning marvel that St. Louis is beyond lucky to have in the city!
Arin Sarkissian — Google review
A massive and impressive cathedral that combines both Eastern and Western European architectural styles. As impressive as the exterior is, the interior is on a whole other level. Just seeing pictures of the interior was enough for me to want to visit. I wasn't aware though that the designs and artwork on the walls/ceilings were mosaics and not paintings. That made it all the more impressive just thinking of all the effort it took to finish it. There are free tours that occur throughout the day and we were fortunate enough to catch one. This is recommended as you are able to go to a few places that are inaccesible if not on the tour. There is also a small museum in the basement.

This is one of the most beautiful cathedral we've seen around the world. It has the most beautiful mosaic that rivals those in France and UK. In fact it's the largest collection of mosaic in the world. Building the church took 7 years, but the mosaic work took 76 years. If you visit St. Louis, this is a site that you should not miss. Absolutely incredible/beautiful church. While I am not overly religious, I was in all of his beauty. Very clean and highly polished marble large wooden pews, huge vaulted ceilings, filled with gorgeous mosaics. They have on display the chair that the pope sat in on a visit. The real experience of viewing this majestic piece of architecture is difficult to portray in words or photography. If you want to feel it, you have to be inside this cathedral. This basilica is dedicated to St. Louis. the historical figure that gave the city of St. Louis its name - and it lives up to its reputation. Beautiful Cathedral. We took a guided tour thru the main part of the church, then thru the back of the altar where the organist sits and the priest comes from during services. There are 4 smaller chappels at each corner of the main church. They were each equally beautiful and unique. One of the chapels was named "Blessed Sacrament Chapel" (which I was not supposed to photograph, but I didn't realize that till after I saw the sign, too late, I'm fast with the camera, slow to read signs). Our tour guide was very knowledgeable about the lengthy history of the church and the beautifully built interior. The architecture of the interior is mostly Byzantine, as well as Romanesque. The walls, ceilings, domes were covered with gold mosaic tile...it was truly a beautiful church. The church is open for anyone to visit and tour on your own but you don't get to experience the whole church. Call ahead to schedule a tour.

Went here with my girlfriend the weekend before Christmas. It was a cold, but magical night. The lights and displays were wonderful with a great atmosphere. Went to Glow lights. Was really nice, cold but nice. Only down fall was they take no cash at all. Only Credit/debit cards. They have a machine you can put cash in and it gives a pay card to use. So if you put $30 you have to use it all there. So unfortunately we were unable to buy hot chocolate, s'mores or any other items they sold. An advance notice on website or even at the door would have been nice. We'd definitely go again. The kids gad lots of fun.

I first visit back in the late summer during a blown glass exhibit; Chihuly items in every corner that were wildly complex and beautiful. I spent almost 7 hours on the grounds and met a very kind guide in one of the out buildings. We talked for an hour and he made me feel at home, educated me on some of the ceiling murals and told me where else to look for great exhibits. The gardens and all the butterflies and wildlife brought me a lot of warm, happy memories. Now that it’s right in my backyard, I’ll get a season pass for 2024. I can’t wait to spend more slow afternoons here.

This is an awesome botanical garden. It’s very large and there is lots to see and do. We spent a couple hours there and didn’t cover as much as I would have hoped. I would definitely want to come back if I had the opportunity to. There are lots of different garden themes, ponds, and exhibits. It’s really beautiful and well taken care of. It’s perfect for plant and nature lovers!
The Japanese festival aspect was really cool as well. There were some fun food options and a lot of people dressed up for it. It was fun to see a celebration of Japanese culture at the gardens.
Because we went during the Japanese festival, it costed a little more- about $16 a person (special discounts didn’t apply during this particular weekend). It’s usually $14 a person though. We waited just a few minutes to get in because we bought tickets in advance. I would recommend buying ahead if its a busier time or a festival is taking place. I have heard weekdays and mornings are not quite so busy.

I was surprised how many plants and trees were already in full bloom outside. They also have some great indoor areas. The glass dome was full of gorgeous plants and trees, with waterfalls and flowing water throughout. I loved the Japanese garden areas so much. So beautiful and relaxing. There were little pools with great statues around the grounds. I saw that there was a restaurant with cute outdoor seating, but we didn't eat there. Great store with so many fantastic and unique items/gifts. There were lots of people, but at most times, we didn't feel like it was too crowded. We enjoyed our visit.

The Japanese garden was absolutely beautiful and bloom. The climatron was very clean and and lots of room to move around. It's still early in the year so not a lot of things were blooming yet. The magnolia trees were very fragrant. Everyone was very helpful and polite. Definitely going back later on in the year when more things are in bloom.

This is just a review of the Garden Glow for the Holidays. It's open until 10pm, so the later you go, the less crowds. When we were leaving at 8:30, it was considerably thinning out. Lots of very cool light displays. Very organized as you are directed along a route. The regular garden displays are not open. Only a portion of the garden is lit up.Nice photo opportunities set up along the way. It's a little expensive but worth the money at least once. Also a great way to get some fresh outdoor air at this time of year.

The Missouri Botanical Garden is truly one of the most spectacular gardens you can visit anywhere and one of the top places to go in St. Louis.
Whether they've got an exhibit going or it's just the "normal" experience you're sure to have a fantastic time in this picturesque location. The photos in this review are from the 2023 Chihuly Exhibit.
There are plenty of restrooms scattered about the Garden, as well as many benches if you need a rest or would just like to sit and contemplate your surroundings.
I would recommend setting aside at least 2-3 hours for a visit, more if you want to see everything at a leisurely pace.

The Missouri Botanical Gardens is like an oasis in the middle of bustling St. Louis City. Though it is a ticketed entry ($14/adult for non-STL residents), it is worth every penny (especially when you're saving on all of the free things to do around the city). We took our teenager at the end of summer, who is big into science and biology. She left saying that she was only familiar with maybe 10% of what she saw before visiting the gardens. There is a wide variety of plant life all throughout.
The gardens and walkways are meticulously manicured, all amenities sparkling clean, staff are friendly and helpful, and the giftshop well stocked and making you want to spend more and support the gardens. I LOVE that there are multiple spots throughout the garden where you can purchase small plants. 🪴 There are resources for the seasoned gardener as well as beginners and students.
Love the various sections of the gardens and how well marked they are. There are free days to visit and a summer-concert series, as well as various special ticketed events. I hope to become a member in the future when I have more time to visit. The membership is affordable and will keep you coming back again and again to enjoy the natural beauty.

Very impressed. It's huge with a wide variety of theme areas. We didn't have kids with us, so I didn't do more than a quick visit to the children's garden. It looked like a lot of fun. There were other areas that appealed to kids & allowed them to play. Great value!

Note: If you are Missouri residents tickets would be half of the price. Bring your proof with you
It was a beautiful space and everyone was so helpful in the lobby area. This garden is an absolute must-visit, offering a serene and picturesque oasis right in the heart of the city.
The cherry blossoms were in full bloom during my visit, creating a breathtaking display of delicate pink petals against the clear blue sky. It was the perfect backdrop for leisurely strolls and memorable photo opportunities. The garden's layout is thoughtfully designed, with well-maintained paths that meander through a diverse range of flora and themed areas.

It's so big and a lot of trails to explore. There are a lot of different areas or "regions" to see. We went late fall so a lot of the water fountains were off or not running, and the colors were not as bright on the plants but still a go walk. The climatron was gorgeous inside and so much to look at. I would do that again and again. Tickets are reasonable, and parking is free. Wish they had better food options. Very limited, so we thankfully brought something to drink and snack on for ourselves.

I recently visited the Missouri Botanical Garden during their Garden Glow event and it was a truly magical experience. The moment I stepped into the garden, I was transported into a world of enchantment and beauty.
The Garden Glow event is an incredible display of thousands of twinkling lights that illuminate the garden in the most spectacular way. Every corner is adorned with colorful lights, creating a mesmerizing atmosphere that left me in awe. The attention to detail in the light installations is truly remarkable and it's clear that a lot of effort was put into creating this magical ambiance.
Walking through the garden, I was greeted by a variety of themed displays that were both whimsical and breathtaking. From the dazzling light tunnels that led me to different parts of the garden, to the sparkling light sculptures that depicted various animals and plants, every turn was a delightful surprise. The garden truly comes alive at night during this event, creating a memorable experience for visitors of all ages.
Aside from the enchanting lights, the Missouri Botanical Garden also offers various activities and entertainment during the Garden Glow event. From live music performances to fire pits where you can cozy up and enjoy a warm drink, there is something for everyone to enjoy. The festive atmosphere and lively energy added an extra layer of joy to the overall experience.
Overall, I highly recommend visiting the Missouri Botanical Garden during their Garden Glow event. It's a truly magical experience that will leave you with lasting memories. The combination of the stunning light displays, festive activities, and warm atmosphere make it a must-see attraction during the holiday season.

Great getaway! Trees are beginning to leaf, tulips are wonderful and the dogwoods were fabulous! Site has a trolley, restaurant, kids park, gift shop, sculptures, fountains, a maze and more. Allow at least four hours for walking and enjoying all this site has to offer.

Excellent. I have been to 3 botanical gardens... St Louis botanical gardens are more Victorian...old World.. the Japanese garden is the best. Lots of soft sculptures. Very clean and organized. The tour guide at the botanical gardens was Excellent.

I totally adored the Missouri Botanical Garden! It's like a hidden gem in the heart of Saint Louis. The vibe there is so chill, and everything is just perfectly kept. Plus, parking's easy, and the entry fees won't break the bank. The staff? Super friendly and welcoming. They even have cool volunteer gigs if you're into that. I snapped some pics in March, but can't wait for spring when everything's in full bloom. Seriously, go check it out!

Beautiful garden and VERY large! You could easily spend 2-4 hours here. We really loved this place, but for my husband, kid, and I, it was $48. My brother is local and it was free for him and his kid. $48 felt steep for an hour walk and a teenager that was only there because had to be. Teens should be $6 with a paying adult like the locals later in the day, if not free like the 12 and unders.

Visiting St. Louis and this is listed as one of the top places to visit/do. This was really disappointing. I have visited several Botanical gardens this time of year in several different states and this is the only one charging full price when mostly everything here outside is dead except a few tulips and daffodils...I rated this botanical gardens a 2 out of 5 because I really enjoyed the dome. Other than that.. save your money and wait until May or so to see when everything blooms.

It's spectacular. There is not much more to say.
It's reasonably priced for admission. It's beautiful, the views from the random spots you can sit along the way around a particular area are all great.
If you use the train, the drivers are all great and super knowledgeable about the flora.
The glass artist that was on display had some stunning work.

So beautiful!! I went during Cherry Blossom season while on spring break and I absolutely adored it! I loved the Japanese Garden once again, and all the beautiful flowers in bloom. No wait, just scanned membership card and went right in!

I love the layout of this Gardens. It feels fresh every time we visit their magnificence. Thank you for creating a garden that's of ease to travel throughout the beauty.

Even before spring properly started, the gardens were lovely. The indoor areas were stunning, and I can imagine how beautiful the grounds will be once the plants come in. It's a huge place as well! Easily could spend hours there.

Restaurant: zero stars
Gardens: five Stars
We waited over an hour for 1/2 of a grilled cheese and chips (it arrived stone cold and was inedible for $14) and the egg and ham sandwich (which arrived missing ingredients and since it is order and then get your food brought to you service there was no way to get this fixed since the girl of the ordering counter absolutely did not care at all about doing any sort of job). I did not want the sandwich, but ordered it because they were out of what was actually good on the menu. So be prepared for that as well.
The gardens themselves were wonderful and I desperately wish we had simply skipped the cafe so that we could truly enjoy them instead of having our time eaten into with very bad food that was highly overpriced and ridiculously long awaited.
Scenic spot with an extensive Pleistocene-age fossil deposit, plus trails, picnic sites & a museum.
I enjoyed the variety of trails available. I also enjoyed the museum. Definitely wanted to recognize Ryan working in the museum. He was very friendly and helpful! Great experience and definitely worth the drive!

I was very disappointed with the entire place. The front was being renovated. They told use to use the back door which my son couldn’t use with his wheelchair. He would have had to go over a curb, then go down a steep hill that is way too dangerous for an electric wheelchair. I think they are looking for a lawsuit. They really need to read up on ADA building standards.
The “museum” has only two display areas and none of the exhibits are real. $12 was too much for what little I got. We were in and out in under 5 minutes.

Found this gem through Google just driving through the area and we had to make a trip! It was definitely worth it. Just a warning, they mention a trail that's behind the main building but it is very confusing and not worth the walk. There's a little creek nearby that runs very low & it's a great place to bring your kids to play!

Amazing museum! I loved the presentation and all of the artifacts. The bones were incredible to look at! Unfortunately we didn't take any of the trails, because it was 100 degrees.
Lorelei Petry — Google review
As an archaeologist, I can tell you the museum is a bit dated and could use some updated information panels. The worst being the small video that they play that looks like it is from 1998. However, it does give a good representation of the excavations as well as having life-sized replicas of the megafuana that inhabited this area. It's awe-inspiring for many kids, and I remember seeing this place as a kid and being awestruck by the size of a mastodon and ground sloth. The hiking trail is also very pleasant and takes you close to where the archaeological excavations took place. Worth a summer trip with the kids.

Nice museum, pretty small but good exhibits and short movie. Only $4. Cool trail along Creek a mile away, easy wading but not barefoot.

The Mastodon State Historic Site outside of Imperial, Missouri is a real gem in the Midwest. It's amazing to realize just 10,000 years ago mastodons were roaming Missouri eating the greenery from trees. Outside of the COVID-19 pandemic you can touch a real mastodon tooth and see real bones; this is a real treat for anyone but especially children. In addition, the movie teaches a great deal and is shown on the half hour. I highly recommend a visit and the entrance fee is very reasonable.

Great place to spend hot summer days. The creek is fantastic for all ages. Water shoes are a plus. Clean and well maintained. We have not visited the museum/visitors center in a couple years, but my kids still remember our last visit there. We did see quite a few copperhead snakes on 95° degree day, but they were keeping cool under foliage. Just something to be mindful of. Pack a lunch and spend the day.

I will say there is some construction as of now happening on the road by some trails (so beware of work site noises) but……I Had a wonderful hike here today! I’ve been coming here since I was a kid, but I still love these trails and the visitors center. This is a unique area to have in Missouri - so go support this park!

Visiting St. Lou from out of town and spent the day here, from about 10a-3p, and an employee called the cops on me! I guess to investigate why I was there so long.
If the employee who did that is reading this, I was there so long because it was a nice park, up until that point. This park should be a safe place for anyone to spend any amount of time in, dawn to dusk.

Mastodon State Park is a hidden treasure in Imperial, MO. I first visited here when I was a kid and had no idea where this spot was, but my mother-in-law brought us two falls ago and I'm so glad she did!
There's several short, well-maintained trails throughout the park. When I visited a week into November, the path was mostly cleared of leaves. There was a cute kids story about spiders on markers along one of the paths that read like a children's book.
A pavilion, playground, and pit toilets are available on site. We enjoyed a picnic lunch under the pavilion, but had the choice to sit at picnic tables closer to the playground.
My dog loves the creek running through the park and it provides extra pretty views set against the fall leaves and moss-covered rock. We met a man on the trail who grew up near the park and he led us to a spot that produces lots of mushrooms. We passed through a camping area that no one in our group knew existed. This would be a lovely weekend getaway, and very remote as there was no one else around.

This stroller-friendly small state park had a good little river with about a feet or so of fresh water, and pebbles that you can walk on. It has a small trail that you can finish within 30 min. Kids can enjoy at a play area next to parking lot. Overall a good place to drop by for an evening whenever you feel like

Very nice place to spend a couple hours learning. Went for their archeology day so there was an outdoor display of artifacts and furs, which was cool and free entry to museum. Museum was pretty neat and had a small movie to introduce the location and learn about the mastodon. Nice little hiking trail too. Overall, it was fun and glad we came. More of a visit once kind of place, but I'd definitely come back with kids in the future.

Staff were kind, bones are neat but the museum is very small. Didn't make it to the trails but I'm sure they're nice. There were lots of people hiking them.
My visit was a baby shower on the villa and it was very nice!! Had a room used for events. The surroundings were beautiful and lots of people enjoying live music and wine on site.

We had our son’s rehearsal dinner here. It was a fabulous venue for this!! Our friends had their son’s couples shower here as well. Ashley is the event coordinator and she made everything absolutely perfect for our special event! They take care of everything so you can enjoy time with your guests. The food was amazing and you can customize your drink options. We had a cannoli station for dessert and it was also a big hit! If you need a beautiful venue and a wonderful staff to take great care of you, contact Ashley and you will not be disappointed! Highly recommend ❤️

Excellent winery!
It is a very short drive south, amazing surroundings, very beautiful place. The people are really nice and profesional, they have different areas to sit and enjoy the wine and live music, we will definitely be back soon!
Also I was told it’s open all
Year round from 11 to 5, so that is great!

Beautiful Winery out in the countryside of Hillsboro. Everything was lush and vivid. Wine tasting is very reasonable. Taste 5 wines for $5, and you get to keep the Villa Antonio Winery glass. The wood fire pizza is an absolute must and I recommend the Chicken Bacon Ranch. Great, relaxing afternoon.

Love this place. Can't believe it's only 1/2 hour from home. Friday evenings are the best.
Enjoy the wine but really love the food. Staff and management (Christine) couldn't be friendlier. Can't wait to try one of their events or have one of our own parties here. GREAT FIND.

We visited the winery this past weekend as a vendor for a wedding. My husband was the DJ and we arrived early to get ready for the event. Jeff was there and very friendly, helpful, and professional. Hard working and many times watched him diving in to help staff and other vendors. When Jeff left Madi arrived and was the event go to person event coordinator for the wedding and reception . The winery was beautiful, relaxing. We ordered food and that was great too. Would highly recommend this venue for event and or weekend visit.

This place is wonderful! The venue is just beautiful, the wines excellent and the food is delicious. The way they do their wine tasting option is really a great choice when trying to decide,
My family came out many years ago when it first opened and had not been back till my sister and I brought my mom a couple of years ago. Obviously it is so beautiful and put together now. My mom passed away last fall and my sis and I visited today to honor her and toast hers and my dad’s anniversary. This time we got Jeff helped us and it was a great visit. It will definitely be worth your time to spend a fall afternoon at this beautiful winery

If you are looking for a place to have your wedding you need to look no further than Villa Antonio! Nestled on the sweetest private property in Hillsboro, Missouri it is beautiful at any point during the year. We were married the first weekend of January and it couldn’t have been more perfect! They offered to keep the Christmas decor up in the area we were having the ceremony and reception which we graciously accepted and had the light display outside up as well. The room had huge glass garage doors lined around three sides of the room which led to gorgeous views of the landscape outside because of the snow the night prior.
From start to finish our wedding coordinator, Ashley, was above and beyond phenomenal! She took care of every single detail and was extremely easy and kind to work with. She helped curate the perfect package that worked within our budget which honestly blew us away with how generous it was. Ashley also was extremely responsive to any questions I had. When I say that she went above and beyond that is exactly what I mean. Unfortunately she came down with a horrible bug the day before our rehearsal but still made sure she was there to execute our rehearsal (masked up and keeping her distance so no one became sick) and then showed up again for the day of with same safety procedures to ensure our ceremony ran smoothly.
After the ceremony the owner, Tom, stepped in and executed the rest of the evening for us flawlessly. It truly meant the world to us that the owner would care for us in such care and detail as he did. He checked in with us several times throughout the night to ensure we were doing well, checked in with our guests throughout the night as well as our vendors. We were very grateful for his kindness and for helping Ashley last minute due to unfortunate circumstances.
The wait staff and bartenders were excellent as well. They made a plate for both my husband and I and brought it to our table at the beginning of dinner service. They did a phenomenal job of taking care of all our guests through the night as well with the most pleasant attitudes and smiles on their faces. The food was also delicious!
As far as the venue itself, it was perfect! Our vision was really brought to life and we couldn’t have been happier! There is the sweetest cabin on the property that had a side for the bridal party and a side for the groom’s party to get ready and rest in prior to the ceremony. We felt very comfortable and loved how cute the rooms were. Because of it being a winter wedding we did have to do the ceremony and reception in the same room which meant people had to sit at their tables during the ceremony but it was still a great view with our attendance of 105 people.
The day was perfect and every detail leading up to it was perfect as well! We could not sing praises enough to match how we felt about our whole experience and the day of with Villa Antonio! Truly a first class establishment and experience! Thank you Ashley, Tom, and team for making it the absolute perfect day!

$8 wine tasting for 5 wines, you get $3 back if you return the glass. Beer 4oz pours for $3 or $10 for a flight of 4. Tried the dry white wines and dry reds and they were all very good. Went on a Sunday afternoon. And they had live music, lots of shaded outdoor seating and they allow dogs. The pizzas looked good but didn’t try any. Would definitely recommend if in the area. Beautiful venue and great atmosphere.

My mom, sister and I went on a Friday in November and Jeff was our bartender with the best beer and wine recommendations. He was also nothing short of amazing, bringing us our pizza and spinach artichoke dip even though WE were supposed to go grab it ourselves. He grabbed the food for us and helped us sit down at a table and was more than gracious with his services. He was so personable and sweet and made the experience here even better. Definitely ask for Jeff when you're here!

Villa Antonio is a hidden gem. Great place for a wedding. They have a brewery (Sandy Valley) as well as a vineyard.
I'm a beer drinker and I can say that of the 3 or 4 beers I tried, they were all very good. (Ex. rice-lager, a Fika--coffee beer, IPA) You can bring your own food you just have to buy their alcohol.
