The over all experience was great!! There is plenty of things to see and learn from most being highly interactive to keep the kids entertained and engaged. Some of the themes include space, life, electrical, recycling and many more. Including a special exhibit featuring Cuba that I personally found very interesting. There is also indoor and outdoor play areas. The interactive stage was a nice break for the kids to enjoy an informative show on electric charges. The only down side was the extra expenses that aren't included in the initial entry fee. The Marvel superhero was the one that stood out for us. None the less we enjoyed our experience and look forward to taking the two hour trip back up again soon.

We absolutely had a blast at COSI! We were trying to fit a lot in and definitely needed more time and we were there for 5 hours. My little girl was three at the time and we did have to pay for her. I am a teacher so I did get entry free which was so nice! If I wouldn't have checked out the counter and paid cash I never would have known that so I'm glad we didn't prepay.
The activities were fun and engaging. There were so many sections that we couldn't really do with our girl because of her age so we are looking forward to going back multiple times as she's growing. The tot area was okay for her. She is almost four so she was a little bored up there. She really enjoyed the house area.
We really loved multiple areas where my husband and I could have stayed there for hours playing! I love that they had an interactive space where they could make parachutes and test them out! We really had fun in that area as well. I could go on and on... So much fun exploring science!

While the Center of Science and Industry museum has some interesting exhibits, the overall experience fell short of expectations. The exhibits seemed outdated, and there weren't enough interactive activities to keep visitors engaged. Additionally, the ticket prices felt too high for what was offered. Overall, it's an okay place to spend a few hours, but don't expect to be wowed.
The Titanic Exhibit was an additional $42 per person after paying the $35 entry fee and with parking and any food and trinkets !! Not sure how these places expect to go broke!
Christopher Hamm — Google review
The price was quite a bit of sticker shock, especially the random Columbus arts and culture fee 🙄.. but seeing how the kids reacted to everything, even how the adults in my group had fun with them was pretty awesome. We passed on the additional cost attractions so I can't comment on those ... Except the marvel exhibit. That alone is worth the whole trip for me, it's a FANTASTIC exhibit and I highly recommend it for adults and children alike.
Staff was friendly and helpful. Atomic cafe food was excellent. Whole museum was clean and well organized. If it was closer to me I would even consider the membership program they offer.

This museum was so much fun! Went with some friends and we had the most amazing time. So many interactive exhibits and many learning points. The King Tut exhibit was one of the coolest things I've done ever and the artifacts blew me Away. I highly recommend locals and those traveling check this place out. Planetarium comes with admission! I believe adult tickets were $25 at the time so definitely reasonably priced for all the magic you're getting. 3 floors of science and exploration? I will be for sure coming back with my daughter.

So much to look at! You can easily spend a few hours here.
If you go on a Saturday try to get there right as they open to avoid it being crowded the entire time you’re there. They have a great kid space upstairs that is spacious and they have a nice water area.

A really fun museum. We enjoyed the rat basketball a lot. The dinosaur exhibit is pretty good and so are the interactive space displays. Can't say anything about the planetarium because they cancelled the last two shows for the day. I never found out why. The small town of Progress was exceptionally enjoyable. The food at the cafeteria was surprisingly good. Very good infact. Prices did seem excessively high though
Gabe Newhall — Google review
Beautiful science center and fun for kids all ages. My toddler loves the kiddie area and the dinosaurs and my other older children enjoyed the rest! Will definitely return!
Mariana Gavrila — Google review
Really great place for both parents and kids!! Very interesting, and they had tons of fun hands-on stuff for all ages to enjoy!!😁 The only thing that was a little disappointing was the planetarium show, which was not very entertaining for the kids and was more about Egyptian mythology about the stars than our solar system. We said that we should have skipped the planetarium show.😕

Visited COSI on 10-14-23 with three adults and five kids. The total price for the entire day, which included parking, entrance, and food, cost approximately $410.
We've been coming off and on for some odd years, and while we have always really enjoyed it as a family, it gets harder to justify the astronomical price, comparatively to other things.
Many exhibits are the same as they've been, with little to no change whatsoever, in the last decade.
The cafeteria can hardly maintain the influx outside of very early morning hours. Prices for food are extremely high (higher than amusement parks, football games, or other comparative places pricing), and this particular time, the special exhibit (Barbie) was incredibly underwhelming.
While the kids had an incredible time, and we adults too, and enjoy what COSI has to offer, as a returning and paying visitor, it's in need of a total face-lift in regards to maintenance; and just in general.
If you've never been, it is highly recommended as it's a unique and incredible place to experience. Adults and children alike can explore and be immersed into a world of science and exploration, but it has little to no return value outside of special exhibits.

My family went to enjoy the Titanic Exhibition. The place was insanely busy. Overall, the exhibition was incredible and we spent several hours exploring the rest of Cosi. Definitely a fun way to spend an afternoon with kids.
Christina Gayheart — Google review
I love this place, but I wish it had more hands on things for the younger kids to do. We went for the Marvel attraction. It was cool, but definitely for teens and adults. They did have the costumes from the movies on display. We went on a Saturday so it was very, very busy, but that was expected. My only complaint is about the rude adults that do not try to control their children, or know how to act in public themselves.
Brandie Myers — Google review
Very cool place with so much to see, for the very young to adults. Grab a map and wander around. I found myself having to stop the kids from just running up to an exhibit and touching everything and if it didn’t “do” anything, they’d run to the next thing- there is a lot of reading involved before you can do the actual activity. So, I had to call them back, read the instructions to them, then it was actually a cool thing to do. My kids were ages 8-12. They just wanted to physically do everything without really knowing what they were supposed to be learning about. So, adults, keep up and get engaged along with them so they know how to complete the activities and maybe learn something from them. The Marvel exhibit is cool, but I’m not a fan of the extra charge to see it. The outdoor courtyard stuff is fun and there’s a playground out front of the building too. There’s a cafe and gift shop. So much to do and see, could be an all day thing if you want to get your money’s worth.

My family had a blast at Cosi! Love the teacher discount and the reciprocal memberships to other museums. My oldest loved the king Tut exhibit and my youngest loved the dinosaur exhibit. The kids play area is great and the outside play ground is so fun. So much to do we never see it all in one visit. I always recommend this place to anyone coming to Columbus.

COSI is committed to recycling, protecting and preserving nature, and maximizing fun when educating kids. We have a membership and go there often (it's paid for itself on a few visits already!). There are little things about this place that can make it interesting if the big displays don't catch your attention, like the sun dial in the outdoor eating area of the café. There are a variety of farm animals and an activity tent available for their Farm Days now, so go pet some docile creatures and learn how to support local farmers.

Huge muesum with lots of exhibits to see. Spent about 3 1/2 hours just to find out I didn't get to see the ocean stuff, kinda bummed. I bought tickets for the Motion Simulator ride and it was pretty awesome. My favorite was the King Tutankhamun exhibition. Pretty amazing story and beautiful replica of his tomb. Let's not forget the planetarium. So beautiful, calm and relaxing. Durring our presentation, we got a little history about how the Egyptians used the stars and sun for many things.

One of my favorite science centers. I have been here roughly fifteen times throughout my life and each time I have enjoyed it. Three floors packed with exhibits to see and learn from. Something for every age found here, especially if visiting with littles who would benefit from the third floor kid room specific for all under first grade. This was the first trip my kids were too old to go in but we always enjoyed the time spent here at Cosi, definitely recommend a stop!
Adrich83 — Google review
Went with family to visit for the first time. Lots to see and do here for kids and adults alike. Interactive exhibits and neat displays to try out. Prices were reasonable, and it wasn't too busy to wait and try things out. Would go back again!

Went here on a spontaneous trip and it was absolutely wonderful. Easily spent 3 and half hours attending all exhibits. Dinosaur exhibit and the planetarium show were hands down my favorite spots.
SJ Kattalakis — Google review
Wonderful place to spend the day. Plan for the long haul there is so much to see it’s worth return trips. So many fun activities for the kids. Spend some time in the store and grab a kit. If you’re hungry the cafe was great! The trip back in time through progress was incredible.
Eddie Olsen — Google review
Cosi simply is one of the best science museums in the nation (having visited most of the popular ones around big cities) ; the building is well thought of and the space is perfect for accommodating amazing collections of science and nature exhibits. Several areas have rotating exhibits that keeps it fun.
Various events keeps us coming from dinosaurs tales, to rats basketball, construction displays with real bulldozers, to adults only night at the museum!!
The kids play area is one of the best and most comprehensive I’ve seen (at par with children museums) with well maintained and cleaned items.
Membership includes reciprocity entrance to most science museums nationwide.
Parking is easy.

What an amazing resource for the community. Such an incredible experience. There are so many interactive exhibits to spark curiosity in both the young and young at heart. Just the history behind the museum is exceptionally enriching. COSI has been on my list since the sixth-grade. Today was the day. The planetarium was awesome.😃 The glass elevator was a crowd pleaser. The energy, the ocean, & the recycling ♻️ information are definitely something we can all learn from. Take the day or more to enjoy 😉 all COSI has to offer.
Like and follow for more adventures ✨️ Travel well 😌

Wow! What an amazing science center! We were first timers from out of town and we had the best time!
It was crazy busy due to spring break, but once the initial entry rush was passed, there were only a couple exhibits that were too packed to really experience and that’s saying something since we were there for about 6 hours.
We all had fun, but the younger kids were kinda done before our oldest, so I’d recommend more for ages 6+, although they do have a little-kid only space. Our littles just didn’t want to spend that much time there.
Highly recommend the Electricity Show and Rat Basketball! Other favorite exhibits included the Gadgets and Dinosaurs.

A great place to spend some time and learn about various things from science to history. Great for kids and adults alike. Wish I had better timing to see the Titanic Exhibit though.
German Village, located in downtown Columbus, is a historic district with brick houses built by 19th-century immigrants. The neighborhood hosts an array of shops such as bookstores selling bargain-priced books, traditional fudge shops and artisan jewelry stores. Visitors can also find art galleries, German pubs, American bistros and coffeehouses. The Franklin Park Conservatory and Botanical Gardens offers a diverse array of exhibits, gardens, and social events inside or outdoors. The 88-acre botanical landmark has an impressive plant collection, seasonal art displays, and nature-based exhibitions. It is located east of downtown Columbus.
Awesome experience. Butterflies were active and awesome to look at and every room I went into felt refreshing! There were also massive and amazing glass pieces that were shown all throughout the conservatory that was so fun to look at. Great place to stop by and look at beautiful plants and feel the positive energy. The facility was very clean and easy to walk through. Staff was incredibly kind as well :). I went on Thursday at 1pm and it wasn't too busy but I'm sure it's a different story on the weekends. Parking was also free so that's a plus!

Great for all ages! The fall/ pumpkin display is fabulous! The color throughout the gardens is amazing. The fall colors are brilliant and the pumpkin's add the perfect touch as they are tucked into displays everywhere! Truly a beautiful walk in the middle of the day. There is handicap parking and the gardens are handicap accessible.

This is truly a Columbus gem! There is so much packed into this building, but by following the free, numbered map they provide at check-in, you should be able to see everything and experience each room or “climate” within two hours. They have such a great diversity of plants and flowers! This is a kid-friendly place, just be respectful of those who are there without kids looking to have a quieter experience. There is a small section along the self-guided tour where parents can stop and rest while kids play around with the kid-friendly, touchable exhibit. There are also plenty of places to sit throughout the entire building. The staff is very friendly and kind, especially in the gift shop. This place is so beautiful that I wish I could’ve been married here! My husband and I visited on the weekday (on a Wednesday specifically) so it was quieter and we didn’t have a wait. I do recommend buying your tickets online in advance. And if you have a Dawes Arboretum membership, you might get a small discount on tickets! That’s not guaranteed, so be sure to check before buying.

This is the place to go if you want to walk around in the winter but stay warm while feeling like you are getting out. The blend of inside with outdoor features is amazing. You can always check out their website for updates, projects and events going on in there. I'd recommend buying an annual membership. It pays for itself in a few visits. I'd recommend you go at a minimum once a season. There's something big each season plus lots of events throughout the year. Summer, you have the whole train feature going on outside which is huge by the way. Winter, they have the Christmas lights everywhere. Night time they light up the glass features year round but they change them out through the seasons. Daytime, you have the children's park summer has the outdoor water areas I'm the kids playground. Inside there is the butterfly exhibit, There are several temperate zones, glass displays, tons of amazing photo opportunities everywhere. Go to the website and just scroll.

Fantastic botanical garden. Very family friendly now with a large outdoor children's garden with exploration and water features. Desert, jungle, palm house, hot house for glass blowing demonstrations, large outdoor train to open in the summer. Free parking, small Cafe and gift store. Wheelchair accessible in many areas.

We had some time to burn before an event so we decided to check out this place. I did not expect to stay there for an hour and a half! There were so many gorgeous plants/trees. My favorite things were the bonsai trees and the railway outside with various carved wooden houses. Each area had a theme like animal, fairy tale, European, and wild west and the craftsmanship was phenomenal. The glass work throughout was a nice added touch as well.
Madeline P — Google review
Lovely place for an afternoon walk and a chance to enjoy nature. The topiary section is really well done and although the bonsai section is a bit small, the trees are very well maintained. The miniature train exhibit that is currently hosted at the gardens is really worth ehile seeing. Very well done.

My wife and I had a good time here! Admission is a little pricey and could be less for what we saw. However, it was fun seeing all of the plants/flowers and they were all taken care of extremely well.

This place is beautiful. We had to plan our first visit well because the first time we tried to go here, it was on the first Sunday of the month when it's free for county residents. We highly recommend not going then because you won't find a parking spot and it's stupid crowded. Instead, we went the day before and we nearly had the place to ourselves. The building has lots of history and we found out the fiddle leaf fig they have here is at least 100 years old and the largest fiddle leaf fig indoors in the United States. I would like to go back for other events and even though we don't live in Columbus, I would consider getting a pass here. They have a lot for little kids and our daughter (2) loved it.
Alana Jenkins — Google review
Gorgeous!!!!! If you're a Columbus resident, you can get free tickets through the library! Otherwise, I think the entrance fee is well worth it. At this time of year the perennials are mostly dead, but the plants inside are thriving. Beautiful bonsai exhibit and really fun train exhibit when we went. Strongly recommend.

My husband and I visited the conservatory as our anniversary date. It was a really great experience and everything is absolutely beautiful. It's worth the 3 hour drive. Can't wait to take my daughter and granddaughter when the weather warms up. There's so much to see outside that we missed because it's February.
Peggy Stewart — Google review
A gorgeous preservation of natures beauty as well as a setting full of unique and breathtaking glass sculptures. I made a visit with a friend of mine and neither of us knew what to expect, but the staff was kind and helpful, and the map made it easy to guide ourselves around the different sections of garden/exhibit.
This is a great spot to bring kids, as they have a ton of outdoor space and activities for families. The exhibits were clean and impressive, though a bit crowded.
The butterfly event blew me away. Being in a room surrounded by so many gorgeous butterflies was magical.
They have clean restrooms, a nursing room, an eatery, a gift shop, and i believe they even offer glassblowing courses on certain days.
I will be back again for sure! I was very impressed by my visit.

This place was so cute, and so pretty at night with all the Christmas lights lit up. My friend and I even enjoyed the space designated for kids (I need that mushroom shaped drum), and we got to see the inside and outside for a couple of hours before it closed. I loved all of it, and we got to get some small things from the gift shop too!! We want to go back when it snows and sometime in the spring. Definitely worth the money and trip time!!

This conservatory is truly amazing. Whether you are coming to see the flowers, to entertain your children in the kid area, or just want to see the butterflies, this place has much to offer for everybody. The Halloween event is especially nice. I recommend becoming a member. I can promise you that you won’t regret buying a membership. In summary, the conservatory is an amazing place, with something for everyone.
David Meisner — Google review
Very nice conservatory. Lots of plants and flowers. There is a gift shop and dining area. The butterfly area is really nice and we loved seeing all the different butterflies. The outside area is one of my kids favorites with a wonderful play space (especially when the weather is warmer and the kids can play in the water-bring a change of clothes). I recommend going in spring or summer if you want to be outdoors and see a lot of the flowers in bloom. Elevators are available to navigate between floors for those that may need them.
Savannah Perry — Google review
What an excellent place to appreciate flowers, plants, bonsai, topiary displays, Chihuly glass art, and a children's garden. The conservatory was set up and organized very well. My group and I thoroughly enjoyed walking through and seeing all the beautiful displays. They have a gift shop. There was a live band playing while we were there, which was a nice touch. The parking was free, but the admission fee was a little steep for seniors. They had clean, accessible bathrooms. They also had wheelchairs for those who couldn't do the walking. I am glad I visited this conservatory, and I recommend you visit here as well. Definitely deserves the 5 star rating I give it!!

Love it every time! My kids love it, too. The children's gardens are awesome. We also love all the indoor spaces and the outdoor trains. We come several times per year. And it's especially cool during Pumpkins Aglow in the Fall and Conservatory Aglow at Christmas time.
Abbey Jo Griffith — Google review
We went here for pumpkins aglow. It was a family friendly Halloween event. (Although the gentleman directing parking had some colorful language to describe a free for all parking situation...it was very busy for a week night apparently) The map provided was of the Conservatory; not of the event, and it was really too dark to read outside anyways. The pumpkins were all displayed really well and themed. There were some unused spaces that might have been good for treat stations. We went on a week night and found some of the entertainment only available on the weekend. I do wish that had been reflected in the price we paid for tickets. The food truck area did not have enough seating on a weeknight, the bar also ran out of coctail mix by 7:15pm. We had fun, and will likely return but would like to spend the day.

What a great place! This is the largest collection of Chihuly sculptures outside of his own museum in Seattle. Such a delight to see his art in concert with the gorgeous plants and flowers 🌺 (I attached a map of his art pieces around the gardens). Most of the best parts are inside so even if the weather is not great, still an awesome visit! Also a full children’s play area on the lower level. Plus a cafe and nice gift shop - you’ll enjoy! 🌈

Such a beautiful building at any time of year but the lights at Christmas are my favorite! Beautifully done and spaced out for everyone to enjoy! The kids loved it and so did the adults if we’re being honest! A must see with the family if you’re looking for an adventure during the holiday season!

Stunning! We came for Conservatory Aglow with our kids (9 and 12). The lights were very impressive, and we loved the music throughout. We spent about an hour outside, grabbed some hot cocoa, and then toured the botanical gardens. There was so much to see! Well worth the money - will definitely return.

A very beautiful building with white design. The orchid garden was very lovely. My favorite was the butterfly garden. The staff told me there were more than 2000 butterflies here, but I think they have less…. In general the experience was nice. I spent about 1 hour here.
If you plan 1 day to visit Columbus, buy a 1-day pass of the city will be cheaper than buying separate tickets. I bought a pass a went to The Conservatory and the Zoo/Aquarium.

I absolutely loved my visit to the Franklin Park Conservatory and Botanical Gardens in Columbus! This place is a true gem and deserves every bit of its five-star rating. Not only are the gardens absolutely stunning, but they also offer a variety of activities that are perfect for families.
During my visit, I had the pleasure of participating in some Japanese cultural activities, which were both educational and entertaining. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable, making the experience even more enjoyable.
Exploring the gardens was a true delight. The variety of plants and flowers on display was breathtaking, and I found myself constantly amazed by the beauty of nature.
Overall, I highly recommend a visit to the Franklin Park Conservatory and Botanical Gardens. Whether you're a nature lover, a family looking for a fun day out, or someone simply looking for a peaceful escape, this place has something for everyone. Can't wait to visit again!

Gorgeous botanical garden. Butterfly garden had a lot of activity and no wait to enter. Butterflies are more active on sunny days! Great spot to take photos and don’t miss out on the outdoor areas. The gift shop is reasonably priced and a good size.

This place is great for plant lovers and families. They separate the plants based on their climates, which you can feel as you walk through and take in all of the foliage. Between all of the rooms, the hallways are lined with various plants, different every season. In some places it is not clear what direction the walkways go and you might walk through the same area twice. Every season there are also different exhibits, so every visit here may not be the same. They also have a seasonal butterfly blooming exhibit where you can walk through a mist of butterflies. If you want small plants or memorabilia of your own, there is a gift shop near the entrance as well as a cafe. This is a great place to visit during a weekend.

I recently visited the Columbus Franklin Park Conservatory and Botanical Gardens, and it was a delightful experience, despite some areas being closed. The beauty of the place is undeniable, with bee hives buzzing for pollination amidst the few blooms of the season. What added to the charm was the colorful array of visitors, wearing vibrant Indian and African attire, which, humorously, added more color to the scenery than the flowers themselves. Capturing 90 images around the park, I found it to be a peaceful retreat, rich in diversity and life. A truly fun and picturesque day out!

We went to Aglow and have made it an annual event. We love going and it’s refreshing to be outside and refreshments / popcorn on site. Inside is spectacular and the fish are truly stunning. Beautiful, even on a rainy day! Was in town visiting family and came here to visit with them. Of course it was a rainy mess that day so I did not get to enjoy all that the Conservatory and Gardens had to offer. However, what I did see what fantastic.
Ticket prices for an adult was something like $23 or $26 which is a little steep for a rainy day because you can't enjoy everything. However, the butterflies were amazing, staff was friendly, and what I did see of the grounds were so beautiful. Will definitely be returning on my next visit to Ohio (with hopefully better weather).
Polaris Fashion Place is a large shopping mall in central Ohio that has a variety of premier stores. It has an outdoor lifestyle center, as well as an expanded Forever XXI store. The mall also has a Barnes and Noble for book lovers.
This mall has done a major revamp in the past few years. Indoor malls were on their way out but not this one. It is full of unique and amazing stores mixed with the old favorites. FYE and Boxed Lunch are hits for any nerdy family members or fans of Disney. Also loved the Boho clothing stores, there are several and they are beautiful. Went on a Saturday so it was packed but a weekday might just be the perfect day for shopping and entertainment.

This is the most incredible mall I have ever been in. If you can't find it here, you don't need it.
I like the way the mall is inside and surrounded by all kinds of shops outside.
If the weather is nice you can go between the mall and all the other retail stores located around the mall.
Plan on spending the day between the movie theater, Funny Bonez, all the delicious restaurants like Cheesecake Factory, Quaker Steak and Lube, Five Guys, Mimi Cafe and all the other chain stores both inside and out.
It's amazing! Enjoy yourself and don't rush

Nice mall- consistently clean and welcoming, despite the changing environment.
Sadly, some recent shootings and criminal activity have deterred families and others from frequenting.
They could use better and more present security.
I visited the other day for the first time in 5 years. Not nearly the crowds as prior to the Covid pandemic.

Overall there are A LOT of shops to choose from so we definitely found what we were looking for. The oversized kiosks in the middle made the mall corridors feel a bit narrow. It makes for a family of 6 with a large stroller a bit challenging to maneuver around. We ate at the food court upstairs which did not have much seating available at the time. With the long lines stretching into the walkway, it made for a chaotic search for food and a place to find a seat.

Update 8/4/23: Why is the mall closing at 8:00pm on a Saturday?? Ridiculous. Can y’all at least be open until 9:00pm on Friday and Saturday. Sheesh.
2 weeks prior: This mall and Easton are the 2 best malls in the Columbus, OH metro area.

Decent indoor shopping mall with major retailers like Macy’s, JCPenney, Saks, Apple, Dick’s Sports, and others. There is a volleyball training place (?) as well. They have a nice food court with a good variety of food options (Popeye’s chicken coming soon). The mall has a very relaxed vibe which I enjoy. Plenty of parking spaces.

Great mall, I was a tad scared alone I felt like people were following me and I would sneak in places. I would not recommend walking solo in this mall. I kept in groups of people and left. Also no maps to find store's if I was looking for something. I was planning to shop during my work trip but did not feel safe alone, so I left.

Super nice mall.
Always very busy but cleanliness is well kept up with. Love the selection of stores they have!
Such a cute family experience! The male farmer was very kind and asked us if we had any questions and told us a little about his job. We couldn’t access the pig area due to it being overrun with a hornets nest but we peaked inside. They display a lot of neat old farm equipment. Everything has signage if necessary and it’s very well maintained.

I think the first time I visited the working historical farm was in 1989. It is a true gem and Ohio treasure! It's a self guided tour while volunteers work the many aspects of the farm! All buildings (there are a LOT) are marked and you can follow the map. There is an alphabetized map for kids (as and adults) and so much to see and learn. No two days are the same! Plenty of parking and new restrooms! The work horses were being used today! So very much to see and it's very much like stepping back in time! In addition, I cannot say enough good things about the farm manager Ann, and her entire staff!! They work very hard physically and they are a wealth of information of how farms operated over a century ago. Kudos to all and thank you for allowing future generations to get a priceless look back in time!!

This is a very “real” working farm, filled with tons of opportunities to learn and explore, from the orchard to the smoke house and root cellar, to the barn and main house filled with period pieces. This is a great place for kids to get hands on experience with some farm animals. One note: the park employees in this area are in historical dress, but are not historical actors/interpreters. That said - they were very friendly and filled with great info!

What a wonderful place this is! My daughter and I truly enjoyed the opportunity to step back into history and learn about the 1880s farm life. It brought me a lot of nostalgia when I remembered my Grandmother and Grandfather's farm from when I was a little girl. It was a lot like this farm. They have many hands on interactive learning areas that my daughter loved especially. Definitely worth the trip! We will be going back in the spring to see the planting season.

We love visiting the farm! It’s probably my favorite thing about living out in Canal. My 2 year old especially loves the turkeys and I love that it’s free! They leave you to do your own thing which I really appreciate.

Lovely place that brings you down to earth. Great opportunity to touch grass and appreciate a simpler time. The actors were friendly. We had a great time seeing the animals and touring the barns.

Tree-lined hiking trails along sandstone cliffs or at the foot of a gorge dotted with waterfalls.
A beautiful, relaxing gorge. The mostly concrete trail makes this place super accessible. We went in December and the beauty was still there. It was calm and green. The coloring of the stone in the cliffs, whether green moss or yellow/orange iron, made this place feel like every step should be loved and appreciated.

I cannot express enough how worth it is to visit this park. Short, rewarding trail (don't stop at pavement) to land that genuinely looks prehistoric. Gorgeous ferns cover the landscape with a breathtaking view once you get past the pavement. Perfect to end your day or start your morning. The path is paved until its not, but it is still fairly flat. Highly recommend. Not crowded on a Sunday morning although seems it could get busier throughout the day which would hamper the experience in my opinion.

Magical! Another absolute must see if you’re in the area. Such a cool place. A very easy hike for all ages and physical abilities. The first 80% is also handicap accessible. We only had time for the .5mi gorge hike but the views from below were still amazing. It would be cool to go back and do the rim hike another time.
Nathan Gray — Google review
Most beautiful park I've ever been in. Ohio takes care of their parks. You have to go and see it. You won't be sorry. Take your time to take in the views , sounds, smells, and wildlife. It was quiet when we were there. There is a rim trail that is a few miles long. It starts there and returns there, so no walking far to your car.
Jm. “Happily married” Reviews — Google review
Our favorite hike in the park.
Duration: 1.5 hours to do both trails at a solid pace. Best in the Spring or early summer to see the waterfalls.
Parking: search for "Conkles Hollow Parking"
Trail: rim trail is a 2mile hike (1hr). The start and end of the trail involves steep climb up wooden steps to the rim of the gorge, the rest of the trail is a well maintained, flat dirt trail. I recommend doing the hike clockwise (go up the stairs on your left) so that the best vistas and views are on the end of your hike.
Inner trail: 1mile round trip on paved trail, accessible to all physical abilities. The very end of the trail is a dirt path to the waterfall.
Both trails are very beautiful and very different from each other. Highly recommend completing both.

This place is so beautiful and definitely worth checking out! Easy hike, the path is well taken care of and the majority was stroller (or wheelchair) accessible but if you’re able to go down to the stream I recommend! We left the stroller and put the baby in the carrier to get down the rest of the way and it was still a pretty easy hike with beautiful scenery. There were picnic tables near the parking lot that we had our packed lunch at after our hike. Great place that we will visit again!

Nice little hike on a paved path. At the end you have the option to go further and I would recommend it. The path is a little more rugged, but manageable. Lots of shade so it wasn't very hot.
Michael Rohrer (Indyroar) — Google review
We walked the lower trail. It was an easy, short (3/4 mile long) trail that provided a scenic view of the gorge. The dense forest and moss covered rock formations were beautiful. I would definitely recommend this scenic trail if you are visiting the Hocking Hills area.

Like visiting another world! The gorge trail is wheelchair accessible or take the rim trail up and around. This hike was one of my faves; quick, beautiful, and full of rock structures, caves and a waterfall at the end. I felt as though I was in The Shire.

Conkles was really fun! The upper trail that does a big U around the valley is nice. Has incredible views the whole way as you’re pretty much near the ledge majority of the walk. Wish I went when there was more rain fall to see the falls have more flow but the trees and everything else was surreal and great. It takes probably two hours to walk and is a good time the whole way!

Low crowd density due to its rugged upper rim which is nice. You can enjoy the views in silence. Great parking options with restrooms. Best views I had while I was down there
Matthew Oxley — Google review
Was one of the best areas we visited and hiked. From the "The Rim" trail or the lower paved trail, both are worth your time. The views from the rim trail are amazing, and the wildlife in the lower will give you lots to look forward to and listen for.
JOSH VAN — Google review
October 2023 rim trail hike was great with the fall leaves just about peak. The rim trail is longer and takes a couple hours at least for me, the gorge trail is significantly shorter, and is about a mile only. Rim trail definitely has some challenging parts, tree roots to climb/navigate over and very narrow trail extremely close to the edge, some of these spots have another parallel section farther from the edge because it is so close. I saw many people with walking sticks to help with the uneven terrain. And stairs...many, many, stairs! Most groups with small children only hike the gorge trail and not the rim because of safety. Absolutely NO dogs, this is a State Nature Preserve. Lots of parking, they recently doubled the parking area to accommodate. They have Port-a Potty's and picnic tables in a shaded area too. We went on a Sunday afternoon and even with the parking lot almost full the area is so large, it wasn't really "crowded".

Our first time visit. Free visit. Paved way for thr 1/2 mile hike. There is also a 2 1/2 mile more unpaved trail. The water fall was dry this time of year, BUT that did not take away the beauty of the sand stone cliffs, foliage and trails, and caves along the way. Learn some history about where you are on the mounted signs. Beautiful preserve. Friendly people. The rest rooms were not operating, possibly under renovation, we had to use portables. Bring hand sanitizer, they were all out. Such a gorgeous location, it didn't matter. Look up the whole way, don't miss a thing.

This is a beautiful Nature Preserve in Hocking Hills area. It offers a lower and upper trail. The upper trail has incredible views. It goes up sharply and you walk around and back down. The cliffs are up about 200 feet! I would say the upper trail is a strenuous and rugged hike. It’s 2 miles long. The lower trail is under a mile and is paved for most of it. It’s a good one for young toddlers or elderly. There’s a lot of moss, ferns, plants and fungi to see. In the spring or after a good rain you can see water flowing. It’s a beautiful spot to hike! They have portable toilets available too. There’s lots of parking and they allow parking in the grass when it’s busy. The weekend is very busy in the fall. If you can go on a weekday, that would be ideal.
Lisa B — Google review
I used the rim trail which takes around an hour to complete with a steep entrance. Extreme care should be taken while on the trail since there is a 200 feet drop at multiple points with no rails. I did not personally check the gorge trail.

Sunny day and 50 degrees in February everyone taking the rim trail; hardly anyone in the hollow. No dogs allowed- no poop no barking. Less crowded than Ash Cave and Cedar Falls.

The number of times I've been to Hocking Hills, I honestly keep bypassing Conkles's Hollow. Probably bc my feet are tired from hiking 10+ miles on the other trails and the scenery is the same as the other locations nearby. The waterfall is miniscule compared to Upper/Lower and Cedar - don't come here for the waterfall lol. However, Conkle's Hollow is unique in its own right and easily accessible for the majority of the very short (less than a mile) walk. No stairs, very flat walk through the gorge. There is an upper trail that I have never walked, but appears to be interesting. Definitely less crowded here, so a good alternative when Old Man's Cave is crawling with people!
Known for its deep valleys, high cliffs & rock shelter, this park area includes vast hiking trails.
Such a magical place to see! I've been hiking this area since I was a child. Definitely a must see place if you're in the area. The hike takes about 45 minutes and it is a loop. It is quite steep in areas. Dogs are allowed and I take my 2, but they're well trained. I wouldn't take a dog that pulls or isn't trained on the trails in this area.

Very beautiful and nice that it has various shelters with fireplaces in them. I went in January and the ice made the stairs and terrain extremely dangerous without crampons or poles. If you go in the winter definitely be prepared to deal with the heavy ice

One of the best spots in the region. Solid one direction loop trail with classic Hocking Hills features to marvel at. We went leisurely and it took us 80 min or so.
Trail is up and down with sime stair sections but not too arduous, lots of grandma's and grandpas here with young children. If you can comfortably walk a mile you can navigate this trail. Those with balance trouble should have a sturdy buddy to hold hands with in the tougher parts.

This is a very unique place with the hikes squeezing through a few tighter areas. Still with that said, all ages could do this hike. It does have several areas of stairs but the sights are well worth them.

First time here and we all loved such a beautiful area and the trail we went on wow 😯 wonderful waterfalls and rock formations different shades of colors in the rocks there was a down tree when we went and looked like it's been there for awhile it was near a small shelter cabin with a fireplace. But overall highly recommend checking this area out.

These trails are gorgeous. Since this is part of the Hocking Hills area, you will want to get here early on a weekend. I got here a little after 10 am on a Saturday and there was plenty of parking, by the time I left a little after 11, people were already parking in non-marked spots. They have picnic benches and at least one barbecue pit. The trails are quick and easy if you are in average shape, it's a shame there aren't more trails here. There are also restrooms and handicap parking.

It’s a really neat trail. Off of the beaten path a bit, probably a moderate to hard difficulty. If you have younger kids, they need to be close, there are lots of steep drop offs and stairs. I went with a 6 and 9 year old and they did fine but it made me nervous.

Cantwell Cliffs is such a wonderful hike! It's got so much to see, the entrance is so phenomenal! The stones and steps just add that middle earth feel! Many places here made me feel that way. The Trail is uneven in spots and you really need to watch your foot placement on some of the stairs but don't let that hold you back!

had a such a nice hike when we went. It is a moderate trail with a decent bit of elevation changes. I like it because there's not many other people we ran into. Dog friendly but recommend keeping pets on a leash because of the sudden drops in different parts of the trail. That being said if you or your pet have mobility issues or aren't in decent physical health I would work up to this trail there are definitely easier trails to walk in the area but the scenery is amazing.

Lots of stairs- it took about 1.5 hours including stops to go on the trail and around the loop. There was a few smaller waterfalls and cliffs around this loop. Stairs are steep on this excursion.

My wife & I really enjoyed the peace and tranquility of being in the deep woods at Cantwell Cliffs! The terrain is steep, so plan for that. Definitely a fun experience though! The whole trail took about an hour but that was with us stopping constantly to take pictures of the scenery. Very fun! I definitely recommend checking it out!

I went on a Saturday morning right before 9, hardly anyone was there and it was so peaceful and quiet. I did the shorter loop and still got a good little workout. The rock formations/cliffs are beautiful. For a lot of the trail, especially the lower area, you do have to have good footing and balance. There’s a lot you can slip on or trip over.

I'm old with a bad knee so we decided to do the abbreviated version of the rim. We followed the sign that pointed to the rim and took an even shorter version. So they didn't get the 5th star for that confusing sign but overall hike was great scenery and well marked trail.
Expansive recreation destination featuring a playground, a fishing pond & hilltop views.
Always nice to visit Rising Park and hike up Mt.Pleasant.It looks like they're doing some work to the main shelter house.

The gem of the city. Terrific playground. Plenty of picnic tables and room for making your own picnic spot. Sometimes parking spots are hard to find. Go around and wait or park by shelter house and walk. Usually easy for your kids to find other kids to play with. And usually friendly parents are there to talk to. Remember pick up your trash and use the trash cans. The parks do a great job and we have our part to do as well.

Beautiful, though disappointed only 13yrs and younger can fish. Age should be 18 and younger. This new rule took away from something my boys had grown up learning to do there.
Hike was lovely and view was beautiful as usual.

I went to the fair Sunday. I planned to park at Rising Park, like I do every other time I've gone and as half of the people at the fairgrounds were already parked. It's hard to see in the picture the grassy area is marked off and there are a ton of cars. Plus there are several open spots so it wasn't full at all. And yes I see the barricade as well as the "Park Closed" sign. Since there were so many cars parked there and because I've always parked there, I thought the sign meant the Park, as in playground, tennis courts, shelters, Mountain etc etc etc were closed, presumably for safety reasons with so many cars coming and going. Well here's where I find out just how stupid I am. As I pulled in, the man in the yellow vest (there were several other workers in reflective vests, presumably parking cars) started shouting at me. I would say screaming but I don't want to be over dramatic. STOP!!! Don't you see that sign? What do you think that means? The parks closed now back it up!! I was trying to answer his questions but he just kept on shouting. If you were 1 of the people walking by our waiting to exit/enter(like me) I'm sure you heard him. Half the fairgrounds probably heard him! He could've handled it so differently, he didn't know exactly why I was there. Maybe I pulled in to ask exactly what the sign meant. Maybe I was dropping lunch off to 1 of my relatives that also works there. Maybe my grandma was clear back as far as the Park goes with a flat tire and I was there to help her. My point is he didn't even know why I was there, even tho I was there for the fair, he just immediately started shouting at me! I haven't had anyone yell at me like that since I was a teenager! It was just a crummy way to start out our day at the fair. And it didn't have to be like that!

This is such a great place for families. There’s plenty to do with tennis courts fishing, a play ground and walking paths. The path to the nice lookout is short, but is a little steep in places. It unfortunately would not likely accommodate wheel chairs. The views are fantastic, I’m sure the town is even more glorious when the Fall colors come in.

When there is snow, multiple sledding options of increased speed and difficulty. In the warmer months, nice playgrounds, pleasant pond to walk around. It actually was cold enough in January of 2024 that they allowed sakting. Fishing is supposed to be catchband release and restricted to kids, but I'm not sure how much that age limit is enforced. Nice trail to the top of Mt. Pleasant with a nice view of the Fairgrounds. They redid some of the tennis courts to pickleball if you are into that. Several shelter houses are available for rent. Bathrooms in warm weather are park bathrooms.

Very relaxing. The first 10-minute walk uphill but so worth it.
We did the Crockett's Run Tour. We did the 9 am float. It said to be there a half hour early, but that was not needed for the first float of the day. Staff arrived at 8:50. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The parking is in a field on the land next to the the main building. You take a small foot bridge over to the waiting area. They had restrooms on site, fitted us for life vests and paddles and took us to the drop off site. They helped us get into the canoe safely and sent us on our way. There had been quite a bit of rain before our canoe trip so the water was higher than normal, but made it so we didn't have to get out of the canoe to move it when it bottomed out (which happens a lot in the summer) There were some little rapids which made it fun. Due to the higher water, our trip was about 1.5 hours It was very peaceful. There were a few limbs in the water which made it fun to navigate around them. The water was very clear in some places and there was little trash along the river. Overall a GREAT trip. Would suggest trying it! We will be back!

Get place to stay if you don’t want to spend a lot but have the necessities. My boyfriend and I stayed two nights for our anniversary on an electric campsite, in total we spent $74. This campsite had very nice bathrooms/ showers. Sometimes there’s a line for the bathrooms but if you go at an odd time you should be fine. They also have mini golf and a fun center for kids. The only thing that didn’t meet my expectations is the “beach” near the primitive campsites. There’s not much of anything there.

So disappointed in how poorly run this livery is. We had a group of 7 reserve kayaks on Labor Day. Nobody checked our IDs when we checked-in, so anyone could have said they were a part of our reservation. The front desk gave us a paper to hold onto and give back at the end of our trip to ensure everyone was off the river before closing.
There was no safety discussion with their customers and no mention that the river water levels were so low that you had to carry your kayaks/canoes across rocks at certain areas of the river - I live near Hocking so I wasn't shocked since I knew there hadn't been a lot of rain - but for anyone that traveled would have had no idea of the river conditions. A 2-3 hour trip took us 5 hours to get through because the water was so low. While the livery cannot control water conditions, they can control the communication to customers about this.
We reached the end of the trip at 5pm and were greeted with no one. There was no one down by the river exit to help people get their kayaks/canoes/tubes out of the water. It was clear that no one had been working that area for a while because it was so backed up that our group couldn't reach the bank to dock. The photo I've attached shows only 1/3 of all the equipment left by the river. There were empty kayaks and canoes floating down the river because it was so crowded. Our group had to crawl over kayaks and canoes just to get to the bank. I'm shocked that this livery thinks it's acceptable to close early and let customers fend for themselves.
When we reached the office and saw it was closed, we realized there was literally no one there to ensure their customers had exited the river safely and that everyone was accounted for. What's the point in giving people the paper at the beginning of the trip if there's no one there to collect it at the end? Someone who wasn't a part of our group was panicking because the office had held his car keys while he was on the water and he had no way to get them back since the office was closed and there were no employees around to assist.
I've been kayaking more times than I can count and I've never experienced such carelessness in regards to their customer's safety. I'll take my business to Fox's livery and avoid this mess in the future.

We spent a weekend here with friends! We had a great time. Bathrooms/shower house were decent and fairly clean online it said they close but they were open the whole time which was nice. The campground wasn’t busy at all we were the only camper on our side. We did have some rude loud people arguing across from us but it was entertaining and made us feel like we were back in Toledo 😂 the go carts and mini golf weren’t bad. Staff was friendly and helpful. We definitely plan to come back again. My only complaint is the grass needed cut on our side and the road through the campground was pretty rough to drive on! Most the trails and site seeing was within 30 mins which wasn’t to bad.

We had a large group for a family reunion and HHA made the booking process easy (plus a group discount); they were also very accommodating with changes- we added one person and then canceled at the last moment and they were very helpful. Our trip had to be changed the day of due to river conditions but they refunded the difference and it turned out the shorter trip we ended up on was perfect for our group. I'd definitely go with HHA again!

We stayed in the snapper cabin, played mini golf, rode go karts and did the 7 mile canoe trip. Best trip ever! Ben at the campground went above and beyond making us feel welcome and helped with anything we needed. Ryan at the canoe livery was amazingly helpful and gave us tips for other local spots to check out. Everyone we came across working with this company was incredibly pleasant, even with the heat and covid going on. Highly recommend hocking hills adventures!

This was our first time here at this campground. We stayed during the week (on a Tuesday - Wednesday) in the Fall (October) and we were thrilled. There were only 3 other families staying in the campground and they were all on the opposite side.
The sites weren't labeled too clearly, it was tough to see exactly where we should set up. I don't think we set up in the proper spot but nobody was around so it worked just fine. We ended up right by the river, near what I guess is their 'beach'.
You do need to check in, just down the road, which we didn't do (thought it was a no-contact check-in...completely wrong on my part). Staff did come by that evening to make sure we were supposed to be there. They were friendly, not upset at all, told us to have a great stay and that was it!
The sites aren't really separate from each other, you can clearly see everything in the other sites around you. Not bad if you don't mind it, we prefer privacy so we were glad nobody else was there.
Plenty of port-o-lets but it's a primitive site campground so no running water, no flushing toilets, no showers...which is fine. Again, primitive camping.
There was a site across from us that had a ripped tent and some other items that had just been abandoned. Looked like it had been there a while, surprised it hadn't been picked up and disposed of. Other than that not too much trash. I would recommend putting trash cans or a dumpster somewhere. If they were there we didn't see any.
It is close to the road, a train track is across the river (it is a live track) and not far from a highway / busy road (not from the area, looked like a highway to me). While it's not silent the road noise isn't too bad.
Speaking of roads, the speed limit is 5 mph in the campground and you really have no choice but to do that...so many dips, holes, etc in the dirt driving path! Not a complaint, just know you will have to go slow and if your car is lowered you may have some issues. But who's camping in a lowered car?
Would we stay here again? Maybe. Not on the weekend and not during the busy season when it's full...that's just not for us. We had a clean, safe place to stay with friendly people that came by to make sure we were supposed to be there. What more can you ask for?
The ride was great! I went on the steam train. I sat in the air condition car at first, but it was not very cool. When we got out, I moved to the open car. This was wonderful! Was able to stand or sit & stayed cool while moving. Highly recommend it. The staff was nice!

We visited the railway to do a BBQ & Brew dinner on the train in late January. It was a very unique experience!
If you’re planning on doing an evening train ride in the winter, you’re not going to see anything scenic. The dinner was fantastic though. We ate a very good three course BBQ dinner that came out very quickly and washed it down with some provided domestic beer. Service was awesome, if you’re planning a dinner ride, remember to bring cash to tip!
After dinner it was a little long until we got back to the station and we were a bit cold. The winter ride wasn’t for me!

I went on the Santa train December 9, 2023. I agree with some that it wasn't very "scenic" but part of that is due to the trees being bare this time of year. Even if the trees were covered, however, it wouldn't be scenic in my view.
The train goes straight for one hour then goes "backwards" to return to the station.
The parking lot, such as it is, is gravel which could be difficult for wheelchairs or walkers.
In the car I sat in, there was very little leg room. I am 5 feet 6 inches. My sister is 5 feet 4 inches. We could not sit directly across from each other because our knees hit. The benches were not very wide either so two larger adults would not be able to sit on the same bench comfortably. The benches also had large tears in the vinyl.
As many said, the PA system is not loud. When the conductor was giving the safety instructions, the instructions could not be heard.
The majority of the cars do not have bathrooms which for a two hour ride with small children (remember this was the Santa experience) was less than ideal.
The Santa and Grinch were nice, but in order to see everyone, they moved pretty quickly. I heard the conductor on the radio say there were 410 passengers.

This is a fun family activity, can also be a date night with the dinner train they offer. Staff and volunteers were friendly and knowledgeable. They offer so many different experiences that you must call to find out. I will be returning for my 3rd time in near future. My last trip I actually got to meet the conductor of the train.

Calm and relaxed train ride that was a little under 2 hours. We got a break just before the end of the ride to stretch our legs. My very nature loving baby enjoying looking out the window and it wasn't too hot once we started moving.

Good place to take a train ride. We enjoyed a 2-ish hour fall foliage trip. Prices are affordable. They have different types of train rides and holiday rides. Only complaint was they DEFINITELY need to fix or upgrade their PA system. We couldn’t hear much of anything and it was far less enjoyable not knowing what was going on.

Was not scenic at all. We seen more from the car ride in to the place. Train was cool and the ppl working was awesome. Very good at what they do. Was not worth the money at all.

My husband and I did the dinner train on 9/23 to celebrate my birthday. The food was amazing! They did an incredible job with little room. The staff were all very nice and attentive.
As others have said if you approach this expecting fancy dining cars and breathtaking views, you'll be disappointed. These are old, original trains that run through old parts of Ohio... there's not much to look at. The food, the company of my husband and the sweet couple beside us, and the fact that you can't find train rides this close to home, all made up for it and made it worth the money.

My recent experience on the Hocking Hill Scenic Train was interesting. We opted for the fall foliage train, and the parking and onboarding process were a breeze. However, the overall experience didn't quite live up to our high expectations.
Our tour conductor, aka guide, was friendly, and the people on board were nice. The train journey goes from point A to point B, which takes about an hour, and then returns from point B to A in another hour. It's mainly a "sit and watch outside" kind of experience. Seating is on a first-come, first-served basis, but there was enough room for everyone.
While it's a pleasant way to enjoy the scenery, we were hoping for a bit more to do or see during the ride. If you're looking for a relaxed, scenic trip, this could be your thing. However, if you're seeking a more immersive experience, you might want to consider other options.

My husband and I enjoyed the Valentines dinner train. All the staff was very friendly, the food was delicious and the experience was fun! The salad had great flavor with the dressing, goat cheese and beets. The prime rib was juicy and full of flavor! It was a fun trip. Each couple had their own table and there were 16 couples in our car. The meal is very organized and everything was served hot. We had a great time. Thank you to all the staff and conductor it was a beautiful afternoon for a train ride.

A nice affordable long train ride. I've been on many tourist railroads, the issues I saw here was track is very rocky, train is jerky with braking and there's no reserved seating or particular ticket for open air or inside so everyone runs to the best seats and people get upset so just wish there was a little more organization.
Daniel McNutt (K8DWM) — Google review
We had a lot of fun! There was a lot of information given. I would not say that it was "scenic" as the train mostly seems to go through towns and fields but it could be considered historic with the information given during the trip. They stop at Robbins Crossing as well which is a historic area. Would not recommend for someone with sensory issues as it was a very loud ride the entire time, but it was good for kids.
K Bunting — Google review
I would suggest you sit on the left side of the train as it leaves Logan. The views are less likely to be obstructed by trees and undergrowth. That said, the right side of the train gives the best views of Johnny Appleseed Park, the remnants of Lock 19 from the Hocking Canal, and the town of Haydenville.
Miles of trails weave through the scenic grounds of this longtime arboretum with a historic home.
This is such an amazing green pocket outside of Columbus! There are many wonderful plants and flowers to gaze at. Some trails are quite short and easy to walk, but there are a few tracks that are over a mile if that is what you are looking for. There is plenty of comfortable seating, so you can take a break and look at the gorgeous landscape or the bubbling fountain in the pond. I would definitely recommend this place for families due to the easy trails dedicated for kids. Overall, a wonderful place. I hope to return again.

My son treated me to an afternoon visit to the Aboretum, and I was very happy to see it again, since I hadn't visit since I was in high school in the early 80's. Dawes is, I'm very glad to say, every bit as beautiful now as it was then. It wasn't overcrowded, and the people that were enjoying the park along with us were very kind in helping to find certain areas. The gift shop was nice and clean, the staff nice to talk with, and the whole afternoon was just amazing. One thing I would suggest is a pond algae cleaner added to the pond in the Japanese garden.

Yesterday my wife and I decided to go check the trails at Dawes Arboretum. Can't believe it's the middle of December and we can still go for a bike ride. Lots of paved trails and dirt as well. The only place off limits to bikes is the Japanese Garden. We enjoyed it so much we decided to roll our admission into a couples membership for next year. A very restful place even in the off time of year.

Gorgeous place! Even this early in Spring there was a lot to see. I ended up buying a pass and plan on going back numerous times. You can take the whole day and walk through everything or you can drive your car through a lot of it however if you do the latter you will miss out on a lot.

Absolutely beautiful grounds and lots of interesting things to see. Easily walkable and lots to see and do. Saw lots of people with their dogs which is nice that they allow dogs as most parks like this don't. The visitor center has a really fun area for kids downstairs. We were there on a Sunday afternoon and it was not crowded at all. I really recommend hiking as much as you can to see things up close on foot, then doing the auto tour in your car. Also there are small parking spots along the auto tour drive to stop and see things along the way.

A prominent gem of Licking County, the Dawes Arboretum is world renowned. Once you've gone once you will want to go back, so save yourself some money and buy the membership option to take full advantage of Ohio's changing seasons. In the spring, blooming flowers and bird song will delight the senses with a renewed sense of purpose after a long winter. Summer brings with it shaded pathways, a welcome retreat as you run the paved paths. Fall is my personal favorite with the crescendoing rustle of changing leaves on a brisk autumn day surrounded by vivid color. Even winter has something to do with the Winter Wonder Walks event.
The staff is also very friendly and knowledgeable about the flora and fauna. There are classes you can take advantage of as well that will help increase your knowledge of nature and the local ecosystem.
All in all, a wonderful place to visit with the family, solo or on a date and I can't wait to return.

I have been going to Dawes for about 15 years now. It is amazing I love how clean it is & very dog friendly. We are members & visit about once a week. Lots of things for children to do as well & they have a lot of fun events here.

Extremely dog friendly starting at the gate with treats, throughout all trails and including inside the gift shop!!
Every person working was extremely friendly and helpful at the gate, Haley answering the phone and again inside the gift shop and both ladies from the Licking County Master Gardeners at their pop up display!
I had not been to Dawes in 7 or 8 years and a LOT has gotten even better!! There is a driving tour and there are MANY trails!!
The native Ohio plants area behind the visitors center is amazing. The bees and butterflies were in full force bc of the plant choices mapped out for the area!!
Many of these plants are available for purchase if you go through the gift shop for $10 each. I believe the bonsi trees were available for purchase but not $10.
The natural play area for kids is amazing with the living bamboo tunnels and rooms and it's in the shade, so that's a bonus. There's a Little Library there, too.
The woodland bird and owl sculptures are huge!! The view from the bench inside the owl is unexpectedly wonderful!
Many areas are wheelchair or stroller friendly but not all. There is a wheelchair friendly portapot in the parking lot to the left which also helps when you need to take your young children or your dog inside with you.
The letter hedges, observation tower, pioneer cemetery and Japanese gardens are all as wonderful as always.
There is a tunnel that goes under the highway from close to the cemetery that goes to another meadow type area. Be sure to take a paper map with you as the map at the kiosk is faded.
Twice the heavenly scent of pine added to the enjoyment of Dawes today. One of these locations was in the Japanese gardens.
Suggestion: drive the entire property once you have paid at the gate. You will see which areas have their own parking and you can visit 2 or 3 areas from one parking spot. There is parking at the gift shop and visitors center, at the Japanese Gardens, at the Observation Tower, across from the cemetery and several other places. Many are now shaded. There is a drinking fountain at the Visitors Center.
This place is bigger than many realize. Be sure you know where you are or don't venture too far if you aren't sure. I picked up two ladies and their dog and drove them back to their car today. They were overheated, very far away from their car and confused, as well. You can always call their phone number as the gift shop person answers. I did witness another situation today where it was nice to see that they take security seriously and security personnel come quickly.
Bravo to all who continue to keep Dawes in such amazing shape and for the continuous improvement! I especially thank the board for allowing dogs!! So many people and so many kids and dogs (and Buckeye Lake cyclists) were there today!!!

This place is gorgeous and expansive! We spent hours walking around one Saturday and will still have to come back. Personally, I felt the $10 per person entrance fee was worth it because it really is a place you can explore all day. It's also dog friendly, and you can bring your own snacks/food/beverages. Also, the arboretum even has tours, classes, and events year round, so check it out!
The only bridge like it in the World. Initially built in 1914 the Y shape was created to allow traffic heading East across the bridge to go either North or South as heading straight on would involve driving straight into a mountain. Aviators use this bridge for a reference point and famed pilot Amelia Earhart said it was the most recognizable city in America. This is a fifth generation bridge with the first being a trestle bridge and then a covered bridge. Before traffic lights were invented a traffic officer would be stationed in the center of the Y to direct traffic. It was listed in the Guinness Book of World Records and on the National Register of Historic Places.

The Y bridge is part of the history that Zanesville Ohio brings. It gets u to 3 different sides of town when u cross it. If u choose to go downtown if u go to 6th Street and make a left off of main street you will find our library on your left, health department on the right. But if u turn left and go to the next light and look to your right u will see our welcome center and there u can find out all the latest about what Zanesville brings to us all.

Safari-like zoo with ziplines, animal explorations by horseback, fishing & guided sunset viewing.
This experience definitely exceeded our expectations! We absolutely loved it! We pretty much came here because of the show on Disney +, Secrets of the Zoo. We were debating what tours to choose. We were going to go with the horseback riding tour but unfortunately it was getting too cold for that so we ended up doing the zipline tour (the shorter one) first in the morning, and then doing the Wildside Tour- it was so worth it! Chris was our amazing guide and he was so knowledgeable and because he had been there a long time, he knew all the animals' names and was able to get out of the truck to feed/ lure them to the truck. We fed rhinos and giraffes and got to be up close with so many of the animals. It was such a great experience and I would recommend it to anyone!

Super amazing place! They bring a bus to the parking lot to take you to the visitor center to check in. Tour busses are open air. Some of the animals come right up to the bus. They offer a variety of tours, you can horseback ride and also zip line. They take amazing care of the animals. You never know which animals you will see and which will come close. It's a different experience each time. The staff are super nice and informative. Midway through the tour you stop and there is a platform area to see the various carnivores through fenced enclosures and rest rooms. At the end they drop you off at a cafe and gift shop and you can wait for the next bus to bring you back to parking area. They run every 15 min it seems. They have over night lodging as well. The Wilds is a wonderful experience. The open air busses [with canopies for shade] and the great breeze at that elevation made for a lovely ride. We saw most of the species, including giraffes - our guide, Alex, was excellent at finding good vantage points & her narration was interesting and fun. The carnivore center was such a nice break in the middle of the tour- we walked around elevated board walks to see Dholes, Cheetahs & African Painted Dogs. Our host at the Carnivore Center, Harley, was also very good @ answering questions and telling us all about the animals. There was also a snack counter for drinks and munchies and restrooms - both welcome in the middle of the 2 hr tour. Learning about the conservation efforts and the history of The Wilds was a bonus [we visited over 25 yrs ago when our kids were toddlers and the progress is nice to see]. We had a wonderful time at the Wilds! We took the Wild Side tour, which was amazing! Feeding rhinoceroses & a giraffe by hand is a thrilling experience if you’re an animal lover, like we are.
Afterwards, we ate dinner at a special dining room reserved for guests of Nomad Ridge (those having an overnight reservation). I did not have high expectations for dinner after reading the reviews online, so I was very pleased when the quality of the food was excellent.
My husband and I had the wild mushroom pasta with cream sauce, and it was very delicious! The couple traveling with us had the steak dinners, and the asparagus and potatoes were perfectly cooked, although the steak was a little overcooked, they said. They must have a new cook because dinner was excellent. They could improve on the dessert and breakfast offerings, however.
We stayed overnight in a yurt, which was very comfortable, with fans & good AC. Near the yurts is a outdoor “lobby” with a fire pit, Adirondack chairs, and a wonderful view looking out at animals grazing near the lake below. They had nice touches like complementary hot chocolate & teas, as well as decent wine for purchase.
We enjoyed it so much we plan to come back with our teenage kids!

The open-air safari tour was great. We had the very last open-air tour this season. Our guide Victoria, was full of energy and jokes. She made sure we had a great time, and she provided details about every animal we saw. She made sure we got a good view and enough time to see the animals. The Wilds is huge. We also got to know the research and conservation effort being taken place in this facility. The best time to visit is during the middle of the season to make sure you get to see all the exhibits.

Best experience of my life. Was nearly overwhelming how much we got to see. There was a new surprise everywhere you looked. You’re able to get so close to the animals and it’s all made even better knowing it’s part of a conservation effort. Our staff guide/driver was AMAZING. She was extremely knowledgeable and just when we thought the tour was over, she heard the black rhinos were awake and we drove over to see them again. We even got to FEED them. It was an amazing surprise, I didn’t even know feeding rhinos was a thing. (Was my favorite part by far). The Wilds is an amazing organization and I’m lucky to have been able to visit.

The tour is fine. Most of animals you can find at any zoo in the US, but there was one which had China origins, and that can be cool to see especially if they walk close to the safari bus. My favourite ones were the ostrich and the rhinos because they were very friendly and approached to the bus. Our tour guide was nice, and also people working at the gift shop and the restaurant (there was just one restaurant working on a Wednesday). Just one thing, you will get full of dust during the ride!

Very nice place to go individually, or with family. Many large bucks! Multiple different types of animals with variations within the species. Ian was our tour guide, very nice and knowledgeable. They have really neat cottages where you can spent the night in the wild around the animals, in a secure area of course.
Don't forget to make reservations for the tour though! They'll work with you, but it makes it easier for their plannig.

The Wilds Conservancy is nestled amidst breathtaking landscapes and offers an incredible opportunity to witness animals in a vast and natural habitat. The expansive pastures provide an awe-inspiring backdrop as the animals roam freely, thriving in their native-like environments. The knowledgeable and entertaining guides bring the experience to life, delivering informative and engaging narratives with a touch of humor. The conservation efforts and dedication to education showcased by The Wilds Conservancy are commendable. Prepare to be amazed, enlightened, and inspired at The Wilds Conservancy – an unforgettable journey into the wonders of the natural world.

It was a lot of fun. We thought we would see more animals, but the way everything is set up is great and feels very safe for the people and the animals. Bring binoculars if you can! The animals are free roaming within their areas so they are sometimes far away.

This place is a must visit. Adults and kids all enjoyed. A very unique zoo that feels like Jurassic park. Lots of close up animals, beautiful scenery, wonderful staff, and overall a great experience. We did not regret the 1.5 drive from Columbus to visit. The drive is remote but enjoyable.
I personally think it is much better than animal kingdom. Lots of different animals and just enjoyable.
They do have great facilities with bathrooms, gift shops and a cafeteria. We stopped once during our tour to stretch our legs.

I Was gifted tickets to the Open Air Safari Tour and had an amazing time! Our Tour guide was very knowledgeable and funny. There were so many amazing animals out roaming around some even walked right up to the Tour bus. There was baby boom happening this season and we got to see babies animals were everywhere. Definitely coming back to go on the other tours

Had an amazing experience here with my fiancée on September 30th. Paul W was our tour guide and he was fantastic. At one point, he involved the kids on our bus by allowing them to open certain gates. There were lots of animals to see, and there were even some wild bald eagles nesting in one of the trees right on the main route. Super cool place and definitely worth visiting.

Did the winter safari which is a barn based tour. We toured 4 barns: hooved animals, Indian rhinos, African rhinos, and giraffes. We got to feed a rhino right from our hand! Like a horse! We also got to pet multiple rhinos, and we were lucky enough that there were multiple baby rhinos! The last stop was the giraffes, where we also fed and pet one of those. The tour guide was both personable and knowledgeable.

Our tour guide, Paul, gave us a very pleasant experience. He was very knowledgeable, could point out the animals by name, and answered everyone's questions. We went on a 10:30 tour and although it was chilly it was a good time because it wasn't super crowded and warmed up towards the middle of the day.
Large state park spanning 17,229 acres on a lake with marinas, boat ramps, hiking trails & a beach.
I visited mid-week, and I suggest this to everyone. There will be other guest there, but it will feel like you have the place all to yourself. The scenery is beautiful. The amenities of the Lodge are great. The staff is great. Everything is clean and well maintained. The food is good. This is a wonderful place to escape to.
And, as an added bonus, they will give you a free map with the locations of all the recent Bigfoot sightings, if you feel like lookong for Bigfoot. Good luck.

It was my birthday and my husband treated me to a cabin in the woods in front of the lake. When we got there, a happy birthday sign was set up for me with cheese and crackers. I enjoyed the three nights we were there. The hotub was enjoyable and the kitchen and accessories were very nice. We roasted marshmallows and did a little fishing as well. Thank you for a wonderful birthday!

So beautiful. A really fun place to explore and wander around for the day if you want to stay close to home but also close to nature. Really enjoyed the beach and the water activities but also the hiking was so much fun just be careful!

Huge park with a lot of areas to explore. Several of the hiking trails are near camping sites. If you aren't camping, the only parking for these trails is at the camp site shower room building. Trails are marked well. The ones we went on weren't very difficult, but could be interesting if there is a lot of rain or snow melt. The stone house is very interesting to visit from a historical perspective. It isn't open very long and only certain days of the week, but worth checking out if you are there at those times. The nature center wasn't open when we went by it, actually it and the whole area looked abandoned. The hotel is very nice and the room we stayed in was too. Nice balcony overlooking the forest with a bit of a lake view. Very foggy in the morning. We ate lunch and breakfast at the hotel. Food was quite good. Prices weren't cheap, but not the most expensive place either. Several people had dogs with them in the park and the hotel. Gift shop is nice and the prices there are fairly decent.

First time that I've been to Salt Fork and wow did I wish I had made my reservation longer as there is so much to see and do. We stayed in a cabin on the hillside and a gorgeous view of the woods and the lake. Very comfortable amenities in the cabin. Matt made my stay awesome and I'm more than happy with his assistance. We will definitely be back but for a much longer stay. Beautiful trails and park. Loved seeing the deer and listening to all of the birds. Highly recommend.

The Lodge is in a Beautiful setting. Some rooms have picturesque views of the lakes and hillside.Indoor and outdoor pools and hot tub. There is a rather large kids pool outside, but of course the outdoor pool is seasonal. There are lots of amenities here. Was there for a special outing and only ate banquet style, not in their restaurant. There is a bar there.
The park itself is very big! There are pavilions and activities available such as golf, putt putt, disc golf, a beach, a dog park, trails, a campground, cabins, a marina, hiking trails and more. BEAUTIFUL OHIO!
Museum dedicated to wood-carver Ernest "Mooney" Warther, with a next-door kitchen cutlery factory.
Before coming here, I knew nothing about who Ernest “Mooney” Warther was. After leaving here, I was astonished at how a man with humble beginnings had combined the blue collar life with his huge imagination and made history. This museum should do something to your soul. The handmade creations in all of their detail by Warther are all stunning. To come here and see his works makes a for a nice visit. To leave here and be inspired to make the most of what God gave us makes it WORTH a visit. Pictures don’t do justice. Come check it out!

What's not to love? The button collection is beautiful. I wish I could get closer and just sit and look at them all, get to know each button the way Mrs. Warther clearly knew her collection. An absolute gem of a place that blew all of us away.
We planned on stopping here on our way to tour some local wineries and wanted to spend an hour or so while waiting for them all to open. We ended up spending a lot more than an hour as we were absolutely captivated by the meticulous creations of both "Mooney" Warther and his wife.
What an amazing place! Ernest, worked in a local steel mill and then made knives. He then started carving scale steam locomotives using wood and bone and later ivory. The museum shows off his works. Anyone who has an appreciation for steam locomotives and their history will want to spend time here. Anyone who has an appreciation for craftsmanship will want to spend time here as well. And if the trains are not enough, the button work that his wife did is almost as amazing - but there are significantly less works on display.
I frequently found myself with my mouth literally hanging open as I realized the level of craftsmanship it took to make any of these models. Not only are they finely carved, but any piece that moved in real life, moves on the models. The museum guides tell you that Ernest invited railroad engineers to look over his completed models and tell him if they see any errors - and they could not find one thing out of place.
The grounds are also nice to visit as well as the house that they lived in. I would recommend touring those before the actual museum as anything you do after the tour itself will feel like a letdown - and it's almost just as amazing.

Mr. Warther was a gifted carver and knife maker. His trains are incredibly detailed and all hand-carved to scale.

We visited on a weekend with my parents and enjoyed it. We did the self tour so we could take our time reading and looking at things. They do offer discounts on admission (veteran, AAA, senior).
The grounds are lovely, not very large, but beautiful. There is a second building with a button collection that his wife accumulated over the years. We ran out of time and did not get to the 3rd building to see them making knives. Plan on at least 1 - 2 hours if you want to really enjoy the grounds and see everything.
The one con I would note is in some places the walkways are narrow or steep which makes it challenging if you have someone in a wheelchair or if you are pushing a stroller.
Cheryl Klein — Google review
This was my second visit and it didn't disappoint. Both visits featured guides who knew Mr Warther as children so additional insights were provided. I will go again with folks we bring up from Tennessee. It amazes me each time about this man's genius and vision.

Impressive collection as MANY others have noted. Things I found particularly cool. A) He was self-educated (no formal school after 2nd grade) B) Pliers demo…can’t explain it but it is cool. C) He never sold them…always gave them away or burned them. The outside is also impressive. See the pics.

We have been meaning to go here for years and were not disappointed. Very nice museum dedicated to a master carver. The building and gardens are well maintained. Very educational and with well thought out displays, and the tour was very informative. The staff are very passionate and knowledgeable.
They have a nice gift shop, but so many of the items were made in China. In that area, it should be all local. They have a new wood shop store that is very nice.

I was born/raised in Dover, so I’ve had a few tours, events and such with the museum. However, coming back with my nine year old daughter and husband has given me a new appreciation of how awesome this place is. The museum isn’t anything fancy but what it is is nothing short of amazing. The family still runs it and we had the privilege of having a grandson in law give us a bit of a personal tour. We even met Mooney’s great granddaughter, who showed my daughter how to make the ‘famous’ pliers. She was in awe. It was lovely. We went in February, so the gardens were obviously not at their full glory, but I have been in when they are in bloom in the late spring/early summer and it is fabulous. The whole tour through the museum, the button house and the family house is worth the trip and admission price. Truly a gem and what a loving tribute to the world’s Master Carver.

An amazing museum showcasing the spectacular carving skills of a highly talented man. From the Lincoln funeral train carved from thousands of pieces of ivory (before ivory was banned) in exacting detail that is just breathtaking to view, to multiple working pairs of pliers carved from a single piece of timber. The buildings are beautifully laid out by the Warther family who maintain it to this day as a celebration of his life and work. Highly recommended.

This museum should be considered a world heritage site. It is the only one like it in the world. The carvings are unbelievable and a once in a lifetime experience. The tour guide was witty, knowledgeable and had a good sense of humor. The Smithsonian has classified this collection of world-class master carvings as 'priceless.' Must see!
19th-century Gothic prison offering guided tours, overnight paranormal visits, events & a gift shop.
Fascinating, informational, and tour guide knew an answer for every question. This was the historical tour we took but they also offer a twilight tour, an escape room, and other options throughout the year. The architecture was truly amazing and it has 1 of only 2 in the world turn table doors. It was amazing to hear how ordinary citizens would interact on the facility to get everyday items done; Mail or haircut. Definitely a good visit for older children. Might be a little bit scary for the younger. I felt it was handicap accessible. There were ramps throughout the tour. There is a gift shop and a photo opportunity to get a mugshot or sit in an electric chair.

One of the coolest stops on our trip. We really like a lot of the ghost shows on TV and this is one of the places that a lot of those groups come. Even though we just did the 90 minute guided tour it was really cool to see and hear about all the things that went on in the prison while it was in use. Our guide Lee was very knowledgeable and was happy to answer questions and tell stories about things that have happened there. If you are ever in the area and have a chance this is definitely a worth while stop. The mound that the native tribes built is right across the street from here as well and is another worth while stop. It's almost like a two for one deal since they are so close.

Terri was great! Got the tour group signed in quickly and then spent time giving additional details about historical items in the gift shop/museum entry and other sites in the area. And luckily, this is one prison entry that doesn't require a strip search!
Garrett was the guide, and is a wealth of knowledge on the prison and former inmates. Garrett is funny, and has lots of stories to share.
I would recommend buying tickets online prior to visiting. They offer a variety of different types of tours and they fill up fast!

My boyfriend and I just returned home from a trip and did a 90 minute day time walking tour with a group of 10 with our tour guide Jason. I've wanted to visit for a few years and I got so much more than what I was expecting. Jason was a wealth of information and allowed plenty of time between rooms to walk around. He was happy to answer questions and had follow-up stories to go along with them. He was even nice enough to point us in the right direction for lunch in town. The historical tour and gift shop are absolutely worth it, the building is still gorgeous, and the grounds are still alive. Fascinating place.

This is a must see if you are anywhere in the area. My husband is retired Law Enforcement with a couple of those years in Corrections; my son is a CO and step son is a jailer. So tours like this are always intriguing to me! The history in the walls of this gothic building is amazing. Our tour guide Lee, was a CO previously (not in this prison obviously) and has a degree in history that is now the historian at the WV Penitentiary so I felt like we got the best guide!
The gift shop offers reasonably priced souvenirs and the admission price for the regular tour is worth the fee. They offer senior and military discounts.

First things first- This prison is on an Indian burial ground. So If that’s not going to sit right with your spirit, soul, or conscious, I may say skip this one. Also for the majority of the tours there is lots of walking and lots of stairs , so be prepared. This prison is said to be extremely haunted, and full of rich scary history. We took the nighttime north walk tour during Halloween. Very creepy experience! We got the abridged version of the max security area, and some fun scary anecdote’s. Our guid seemed knowledgeable, answered all the group questions, and kept us entertained. Definitely a must see if you’re in the area!

I stopped for a guided tour on a Saturday late afternoon in May. The tour guide was Tina and she was very good. She was knowledgeable and had a strong voice - there were about 40 people in the group and probably half of them were kids so at times there was some noise for her to talk over and a lot of moving around. She shared a lot of info and very much painted a vivid picture of things that happened in this prison. I found it very informative. I didn’t see any ghosts but I wasn’t really looking for any. Some areas felt a little unnerving and it smelled different in there - not sure exactly how to describe that but it was a noticeable scent. Water was dripping from the ceiling in spots - it had rained earlier in the day. I’d have liked to been with a smaller group and seen more but that might be available in one of the special after hours tours. You can find info on that on the website. Also, there is an Indian burial mound directly across the street with a archaeological museum which I didn’t realize until I pulled up. Plenty of parking in the street and in a small lot. I booked ahead online and would recommend doing that.

Very neat historical tour. Enjoyed the museum at the beginning that held a ton of old documents, personal accounts and old newspaper articles about the prison. It was also interesting to learn three men would have to share a 5x7 room for 22 hours a day and then getting to walk through the actual cells. Very educational and interesting to walk the grounds. No paranormal activity what so ever and the groups were large. Also wish there was an option to see more of the prison that didn’t cost over $100.

Pros: Absolutely beautifully done masonry; very clean, yes, really! Friendly and pleasant staff.
Cons: Smaller than I thought, a lot of noise contamination if there are probably more than 30 people in the building; for tours not a problem, but for paranormal investigation, a big problem :)
I recommend you visit the place at least once and decide! Been there a few times, not much activity regarding paranormal events at any time; however, I visit these sorts of places for the history aspect over paranormal investigations. I have been investigating for decades, but history is my first true love!
Visit this place at least one if you do love history, masonry, etc. you shall not be disappointed!

Be aware it is in an old school building so it does not have AC and its on the top floor, so dress accordingly!
There's so much to see! I honestly feel like i didn't get enough pictures!
Its off the beaten path, but worth the visit. Ample parking was available in the lot behind the school, street parking also seemed plentiful but it IS in a residential area so if you street park be cognizant that residents live there....the entrance is not where the lot is, you have to walk to the front to enter then the steps to access this are down the main entry hall and to the right....

Oglebay Good Zoo is a spacious haven for rare and endangered species, boasting diverse exhibits and engaging nature programs. This smaller zoo can be comfortably explored within a few hours, with the added opportunity of participating in their red panda experience. The animals are well-maintained and content in their environment. However, visitors should note that the terrain is hilly, making it challenging for those with physical disabilities to navigate.
After reading the many negative reviews, it left us very apprehensive about our visit. We called ahead and spoke to Shauna, who was very accommodating in getting us set up with a personal tour. My mom is disabled and could not walk the entire zoo. Our tour guide Peyton was AMAZING!!! She was very engaging, knowledgeable and personable! We thoroughly enjoyed seeing all the animals. We visited the last week of October, so the weather was very cooperative. We were able to see all the animals and some even performed on cue. LOL.
While others complained in their reviews of the small size of the zoo, we thought it was the perfect size that was not too overwhelming. Being from NY with many major zoos which took several hours to complete, this zoo made for a quick fun visit for the family. Overall, it took about an hour to complete with our personal tour. It was totally worth every penny!
Thanks Shauna and Peyton for making our first trip to WV VERY special.

Nice little zoo. It was $15 for an adult to get in. It really doesn't take more than 90 minutes to walk through it. The most interesting thing I think was when I got to see an opossum in person and up close as one of the handlers was showing and discussing it. You were also allowed to pet it. I do think many of the enclosures were too small for some of the animals. That's unfortunate. The little armadillo kept spinning in circles, which is a sign of stress and mental anguish from being in a confined space too long. Also, the larger cat enclosures also seemed much too small for such large animals that are used to roaming. But the people were very friendly and the animals seemed well taken care of otherwise. There is an albino crocodile that we got to see being fed. The small tamarinds and lemurs were fun to watch. They also had a sloth, but he was hiding in the corner sleeping so I was unavailable to get any pictures or see him.

The animals are well cared for and seemed happy. I would definitely say it is a walk and extremely hilly. Lots of places are at the top or bottom of hills. It was a good walk though. I would not recommend this if you are handicap or in a wheelchair. It will be difficult to climb the hills and be a quick ride down. I don't know if they have other options for handicap people. But it is super nice

The zoo is nice, the train is certainly intended for children as the park is small enough to enjoy on foot in about an hour and a half. Even with children, the train may not be worth it as the trip is not very exciting and there is no narration or introductions to anything that is passed. You can get off and back on the train at any stop, but that is unnecessary because the train won't be back by the time you are done with everything at the stop you got off at.
The zoo was located far back in the Oglebay compound, so it is important to pay attention to the mostly clear signage along the way to make it to the zoo. While the zoo itself is quite hilly, it is an enjoyable walk with the animals spaced between lush greenery. There are a few buildings as well that house some birds, reptiles, amphibians, monkeys, and rodents. Overall, a nice visit, but a bit overpriced for the experience.

Zoo plus several other activities makes this place a perfect place for kids and adults.
I would recommend to anyone to visit this place and go for day pass that ranges around 33 dollars.
It would be nice to have train schedules,
Map to display where which animals are located, route plan, arrows and markings to display which is the next animal, an option within the animal name board to contain QR code to scan to learn more about the particular animal that may contain audio, pics, history of animal, and general description.

We traveled from Michigan to see the festival of the lights. Of course we had to make a stop to the zoo! We are use to a bigger zoo since we aren't too far from the Toledo, OH zoo but we really enjoyed our time at Oglebay. Pretty much all of the animals were out which is always fun to see. We thought it was reasonably priced. It was a refreshing change from our local zoo!

Beautiful surroundings. Though under construction, it was very accommodating. Wish we'd had small fridge and microwave in room. And there was a zoo adjacent.

This Zoo is best described as quality over quantity. We visited, with our younger son, for the Red Panda Experience and we had the most memorable time! Before the experience, we toured the zoo and saw animals that we hadn't seen at some major zoos. After the Experience we hung around for their light show. I wish I could give it more stars; I heavily recommend this zoo!

We paid for the Red Panda experience, which included the zoo. It was the Most Amazing thing my wife and I have done! It's a spectacular zoo with a very kind, friendly and knowledgeable staff and volunteers. HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!

Incredible zoo! May be small (the smallest in the country actually) but you get so up close to all the animals, it’s amazing! The staff is super friendly and knowledgeable! Great place to visit with kids!
Down-to-earth ski & golf resort offering a range of accommodations, plus a spa, 30-acre zoo & pools.
Great weekend golf resort. Staff is friendly and helpful. Buffet that was included was a great part of the package. The greens and courses were in great shape. Coach was gassing us all up when we were waiting to head out. The Arnold Palmer course was awesome! Our group of 40 will absolutely be back for another weekend next year.

We stayed in a rustic cabin in October. The cabin was immaculate and Caroline in housekeeping was amazing. We enjoyed every second here. The fireplace was the icing on the cake with a ton of wood to burn ready for us when we checked in. We will definitely be back next fall!!

I used to come to Oglebay all the time to walk on the trails and finally got a chance to stay. While a ton of construction was going on, it was hardly noticeable. Our room was super clean, and the bed was comfortable. For the most part, it's very quiet and peaceful. We eat at the bar each night. Staff is super nice and the food is great! I will be returning.

Love getting away in the beautiful scenery and getting up close with nature. Not pictured: the ducks that adorably waddled their way through the yard and a raccoon climbing his way down a drain pipe. Everything about the cabins is well kept relaxing! Cannot wait to plan our next trip!

A very nice resort to visit. It was decorated beautifully for Christmas and the drive through light displays were very well done, especially the new light display on the lake. I recommend Oglebay and if you are doing a group visit, Alecia will take great care of you. The rooms on the Byrd Wing are small with two regular double beds in them. The King and queen bed rooms are very nice and roomy. The Christmas dinner and show was very nice. It's worth a visit.

Great getaway resort. So much to do and see. The only problem was there's no refrigerator or microwave in the rooms. Great place for a challenging golf outing. The Pool was refreshing and relaxing if you can get a lounge chair. We will be back next year.

Wonderful. Phenomenal cottages with amazing and ample space for all of us. Deck, to living rooms, spacious kitchens and bedrooms (15) each with their own bathrooms. Really enjoyed the lush vegetation, the deer and the hot tub (although it is in need of repairs of the jets). Will definitely return.

Oglebay Resort makes for as close to perfect time away as you can get.
It was already decked for the Christmas season. Beautiful.
SERVICE: The service is above stellar.
FOOD: The food in the restaurants is unbelievably good. The servers are very friendly. They, actually converse with you. They all have that 6th sense for what you need. The food presentation is beautiful.
CLEANLINESS: Oglebay takes cleanliness and hospitality to a whole other level inside and outside.
ACTIVITY: The things to do are enough for a good balance of active and restful. I love all their seating areas.
LOCATION: super convenient 2-hour prox trip.
There is nothing there to critic for change or improvement.

The place lives on its past reputation. Thanksgiving dinner was very good but pricey for what you are getting. The lodge appears well kept but I was in a chalet which was dated, had carpet that needed replaced years ago and Murphy beds that we were told were unsafe. Let that sink in. A hotel room without a functional bed isn't worth a whole lot to any one.

Great location, fantastic views, fine staff. Rustic. Seems like it was luxurious 50 years ago, but the place could use some upgrades. Rooms are decent, but has incredible, tremendous potential if renovated properly. Generally has a great atmosphere. Whatever the hotel lacks is made up in spades in the surrounding resort and park. Would recommend. Extremely unique location.

Amazing resort for family! Relaxed environment with gaming room, indoor pool and bunch of tabletop games available at the lobby.
Resort facilities have a small lake where you can fish, a playground, a mini golf and even a Zoo. Definitely a place where kids can keep entertained.
But service may be slow, we noticed the staff was a little overwhelmed during the Eastern Weekend.

Don't forget to use Hᴏᴛᴇʟʙoʟʟʏ.ᴄᴏm when booking your stay. This site will compare countless booking websites and normally will have prices a lot cheaper than others! You're welcome :)! The lights are awesome !!!! Prettiest ones around ! Love looking at all the cool interesting displays they have. Definitely worth the drive considering I came from 1.5-2 hours away! Would definitely come back here every year

Went for dinner and light display. Very pretty this time of year. Buffet dinner was ok but nothing extraordinary, and limited for a buffet at a resort. The price was a touch high for the offerings but one should assume that's for location.
The menu was decent and food palatable. The pricing again wasn't really in par. Think dated ski lodge attempting 4 star service. Appetizers were overpriced but very good. Drinks were surprisingly in par with market price. All in all cost about $100 a person for a buffet once appetizers (nothing of the sort on the buffet), drinks, and tip were added.
The gentleman attending our table was very attentive and friendly.
The light display could benefit from a bit of directional signage as opposed to a map. If anyone from the venue reads this... a light display is done during the evening therefore having to turn on an interior vehicle light to read a map is not only disturbing to all the parties eyes in your vehicle but any of those around you.
The venue could easily add a few arrow shaped lights into the display to keep people moving in the right direction. Just my two cents.
Still very nice lights both for driving and walking through, while doing a bit of shopping.

We stayed from a Wednesday to a Sunday at the Bluet cabin. I have never been in the habit of checking a place for bed bugs. Maybe I should make this a habit in the future, but it has never been on my radar. The last morning we were there, after having stayed for several nights our friends who were staying two cabins away found a bed bug on one of their beds. This prompted us to search the 4 bedrooms at our cabin during which two of the four rooms were found to have bed bugs including my room and my kids room.
We immediately called the operator where a woman told me they would do something urgent to take care of this and we never heard from them again during the next three hours while we were cleaning at the house. We started a very tedious packing process and then drove home early. We then spend the entire day cleaning everything we brought.
The fact that two different cabins had bedbugs suggests this is probably a bigger issue than that. My room had a mattress protector on the bed but this had a huge hole so not too helpful. My kids room didn't have a mattress protector on. If we had at least heard back from the office I would feel a bit more charitable, but to claim that they are going to help and then ghost us is just ridiculous. We chased down a maintenance truck in the rain and he gave us some trash bags so we could wrap up some of our things.
There were certainly parts of the resort we did enjoy, but not enough to overcome the pretty unpleasant end of our time there.

My family has visited here many times over the years. We just visited last week and dropped 20k on lodging and activities. We go primarily for the pool since there are 30 of us and many ages. It is a great hangout spot. This year was very different. They had thousands of bees at and around the pool daily. I reported it to everyone in management and never even received return phone calls.
That is not how you would run a 3 or 4 star resort facility.

Stayed over on a Saturday and Sunday night. Many family friendly activities available, many for free as a guest (outdoor pool and splash pad), but others require purchasing an activities wristband to enjoy (watersports, zoo, etc.). The Lakeside room we had at the Wilson Lodge was spacious, but a bit dated. We did not have a lake view, but enjoyed the patio outside of the rear of the room. We enjoyed walking around the gardens and the lake on the paved trails, as well as hiking behind the nature center in the evenings.

(Wedding Review)
Such a beautiful venue, but everything that could go wrong with my wedding did go wrong. We had been changed through 3 different wedding coordinators by the time my wedding day came around, there was horrible communication, and so many things went wrong on the day of the wedding. Our seating chart that we agreed upon was not followed, so there were not enough seats at each table, the items we requested for our ceremony were not placed there and we had to work to find replacements last minute, and the bar staff were extremely rude. My family was setting up our cocktail hour and not only did they not set up the extra seating, but they also told my mother that the games she was setting up for our cocktail hour were worthless and that she shouldn't put them out. In addition, there was not even enough supplies for our specialty cocktails we ordered. Many of our vendors even commented on the disorganization of the venue staff. We were supposed to be assigned a day of coordinator, but we never once saw her on the wedding day. They didn’t even put out the wine glasses or cake cutting knife they stated that they would provide.
Communication between my vendors and the staff at Oglebay was horrendous, and we were unable to get ahold of anyone about final costs of the wedding until the week of, so we were scrambling to pay everything off. They include tons of hidden fees and not upfront about costs. Unless you are going through their catering and spending $10,000+, don't expect them to pay your wedding any mind. They created so much unnecessary stress for an already stressful day.

Visited Olgebay recently with a group of seniors. We ate dinner in the lodge. It would’ve been wonderful if the food was hot or even warm! All of it was room temperature. The wait service was poor. We asked several times for beverages and coffee but he was busy with other tables and we could not get served. The entertainment was worse than cold food!! The sound system was terrible and could not
hear clearly and we were only the 2 nd table back from the stage. The Festival of Lights tour guide was exceptional though and we did enjoy her narration and humor. Not quite as wonderful as we had hoped.

We just went for dinner & to see their beautiful Christmas lights display on New Years Day. We had the buffet & the food was absolutely amazing & there was a lot to choose from. The $14 I spent on my chocolate martini was well worth it! Our waiter was attentive to our needs. They had hot chocolate set out in a gathering room so we took a cup with us while we drove through the lights! We made a stop in the gift shop & they have a little of everything. The hotel was decorated beautifully for Christmas. It's sad that they will be remodeling a lot of the hotel. I hope it doesn't lose it's rustic charm! Would definitely recommend going there!

My first impression was not a good one. At the check in desk, I told the woman I didn't know where my room was because I hadn't been there before. Her response was "I don't know where your room is either". Okay. When I asked her for directions, she told me it was "that way"...super helpful. She offered zero information and stared at me like I kicked her dog when I expected her to at least tell me I was checked in. I got lost looking for my chalet. The chalet was also super dated (not the end of the world) but the location was beautiful. We took the kids to the Good Zoo to see Santa (he was late). There was so much traffic; they need a better system to accommodate all of the people that come to see the lights. It took me over 30 minutes to drive one mile (no exaggeration). There is also extremely limited parking; we could not even park near our chalet which didn't work out well having two small children to carry. The gift shops at the zoo and the resort were amazing! Pricey but that's to be expected. We also waited over an hour longer than expected for take away pizzas; the bright side to this was that the hostesses were wonderful! This was definitely a one and done experience for my family.

I have never once written a negative Google review in my life because I have never felt so obligated to do so but here I am. I have always heard such wonderful things about the Oglebay Festival of Lights so this year, my boyfriend and I decided to have a little date night road trip to go see the lights. We are from Pittsburgh so it was only a little over an hour drive but I can tell you, it's not worth it unless you live 5 minutes away. We arrived around 4:45 on a Saturday just 9 days before Christmas. There was not too long of a line since we went early so I have no complaints there. I paid the $30 suggested donation because I assumed such an amazing display that I was about to see would deserve it. However, it was quite the opposite. The problem was the actual lights. There less than 1/2 the displays that I expected since so many people rave about it. They are very spread apart and not impressive. There was maybe 1 or 2 that actually impressed me. It was very cute and nice to see but definitely a waste of time and gas. I realize we did not drive as far as some but gas is quite expensive nowadays so we wasted quite a bit just going there. It was nice to see something like that as I have never seen a light show but I would never do it again. I don't understand why so many people say it is amazing. Not worth it at all. I will never recommend this supposed "Festival of Lights" to anyone.

Only there for The Festival of Lights. Traffic was thick, but it was a Saturday night. Took a while to make it to the entrance. The lights were fantastic! They had Christmas music booming, but I had Pink Floyd playing in my car. 30 dollar "donation" was asked of us, but you really don't have to donate. I had a wonderful female friend riding with me. Together, we both had a great time. I do recommend!

What a great location with so many things to do. Several options to eat. Breakfast Buffet and Holiday Dinner Buffet. Swimming Pool, Hot tub and Sauna. Workout room. Several relaxing area's to sit by the fireplace. Lots of walking trails. A " good" Zoo. The Festival of Lights drive through is the best, with so many different displays, all very special. The staff were so efficient and friendly, and everyone loved our Bulldog, Cooper.
Lots of special occasions, like New Years Eve Party and so much more.
Reasonable room rates, and packages. Check it out.

So how do you highlight a location in West Virginia Hill country? Oglebay Resort shines out during the holidays (particularly Christmas) as a place to kick back, relax, and enjoy a slower pace. The highlight of the Christmas stay our family enjoyed was the Christmas Day brunch. Pricey but beautiful, mom gets the day off while the employees sacrifice to make it a thoroughly enjoyable experience. We shared a cottage, brought our dogs, and enjoyed while numerous deer fed in the yards outside our windows. The shopping is top-notch in the area, and I recommend Vance Memorial Presbyterian Church be included for worship and a welcoming experience!
Presenting big-name acts, this outdoor amphitheater hosts 23,000 patrons in reserved & lawn seating.
We drove out to Star Lake from Ohio and loved it! All around great place to see a show!
PROS:
- We got the special parking pass (as many suggested online) which is well worth it if you're able to get one. Easy entrance, parking, and exit.
- The sound was really great (especially for being outdoors!)
- The pavilion seating was pretty comfortable, including a decent amount of leg room.
- The event staff were courteous and helpful.
CONS: None!

So, the venue itself is awesome. Gets a little cramped with how many people show up. But, its an awesome experience being with all those people at once. Bathrooms are way up top in the back but easily accessible. Got to see D & C twice there. First time we missed the whole first set because we were stuck in traffic on the way in. Second one, ( the 2023 sold out one where many people completely missed the show and wanted a refund) we left like six hours before the show and still barely made it for showtime.
Now, the venue again is great, food and merchandise spots are easy to see and use. However, parking, traffic and organization over driving patterns is just horrible. No matter how you get there, you will end up in one lane sitting there for hours just to get in to the venue. Then, getting out you back out of your spot then sit there for like an hour before leaving. It's just horrible. Almost torture really. They need to somehow open up another lane or some other way in to starlake. Or get more shuttles in and out? There is a lot of free land around the area so maybe get some people to park and walk? A lot needs changed here and I hope it does in the coming years. I feel like it's bad enough that people will come for one concert, see how horrible it is going in and not come back (probably close to my stance).

Great outdoor venue. I would go here for another concert. Prices inside are insane but typical for a concert. My only complaint was how slow service was. Everything is cashless so the lines for drinks and merchandise barely move as everyone has to pay with cards.

Took my wife to see The Backstreet Boys a few weeks ago. I absolutely love this venue. Beautiful place, wide open, tons of room. Easily accessible food/drink and merch stands. The lines that form, drop quickly from the prompt service of the workers. We had VIP box tickets and we couldn't have been happier! They have a VIP area with a bar, free water and popcorn, along with private bathrooms. Not to mention, you have a button in your box the you can press, and a waiter/waitress will come and take your order and bring it to you. Tons of parking. I recommend going to a show! They have very affordable tickets!
That being said, the only downfall, is when the event let's out, depending on where you are parked, you can spend hours in line trying to leave.

This was the first time visiting, the parking entrance has 6 lanes coming in and as much as people complain it was not that bad parking with plenty of ADA parking. We arrived approx 1 hour before gates opened. Security was adequate, they check bags and have metal detectors etc. Prices were about the same for food and beverages as other venues. Soft drinks come with free refills. There is plenty of seating to eat and drink outside the pavilion. Security under the pavilion was fine and they assist you to your seats, seats in at least section one were comfortable with cupholders. After the concert traffic was a bit slow to leave. But it was expected. Over all a good time. They need a traffic light out by the road though.

I had a nice evening sitting in the lawn section, but there were some challenges. There was horrendous traffic getting to the show (Dead & Company, 2023), there were especially long lines, and the music wasn't very loud. I have been to 3 large amphitheaters this summer, and this was definitely the worst. This probably would have been a much better experience if there were fewer people.

Another beautiful night under the stars with some amazing live music. We love the summer concerts here because the tickets are so cheap & affordable! We forgot it was a no-cash venue and we didn't bring any cards with us, but were pleased and impressed by the free money cards they offer! $1 for $1! No fees! It was our first time here, and we'll for sure be back. It's a fun, laid-back venue that throws some pretty good shows.
There are a bunch of food options. All the ones we tried in particular were amazing. Doesn't seem like you can really go wrong with what you get. The drinks are on the pricey side, but that's to be expected.
We had a great time at this venue. Reminded us a lot of Merryweather in Maryland.

Excellent 1st time HERE!!!!!!
Facilities well maintained. Plenty of Porta-Johns everywhere. By the end of any concerts are going to be pretty full so that wasn't surprising.
To the people who sit down to go to the bathroom you might want to bring a roll of toilet paper just to wipe off the seat. That's more on the concertgoers than the venue.
Big screens everywhere so no matter where you're sitting you can pretty much see a up close video center stage.
Went to see the Outlaw Tour. The facility's commitment to make the concert happen despite rain storms is amazing! Drainage on the grounds were excellent considering the downpour we had no huge puddles. The parking lot was as good as it could get. Suggestion: if you know it's gonna rain.. bring 2 pair of shoes/boots/flip-flops or whatever you wear. People were grilling out sitting out in their lawn chairs in the parking lot, pretty fun lot scene. Nobody was being stupid most people were being totally respectable although that is a Willie Nelson crowd.
Thank you for making my first Willie Nelson concert an extraordinary event!!!!
Excellent first time here. Will definitely go see more shows at this venue.
FYI taking pictures in the rain of the screens did not lend to give you guys very good pictures I apologize for that.

The only *needs improvement* mark is directing traffic OUT after the show. Ok, & the food isn't worth the price except popcorn. Going in, everything is organized very well. If you plan accordingly, you'll have a great time. The free DD soda is only at food stands, but is a great perk in hot weather. the show is always great, and I've never gad a better time than when I see shows here. 100% recommend every time. Anyone that has traffic issues didn't plan right. They open parking 2 hours before showtime for a reason. U should aim to arrive within an hour of the start time or sooner for a show you know will be extra packed. If you can't do that, expect to be late and it's nobodys fault but your own. Dont but tickets if u can't get there on time. The flow is nice and easy with 4 lanes to guide you to all the lots. The staff are nice. My only complaints are fellow audience members.

My boyfriend and I went to the Pavilion at Star Lake on 8/23/23 to see the band Ghost. He uses a wheelchair, and every aspect of our stay was great from start to finish. We paid for reserved parking and the team helped us find a spot close to the entrance. The view from our ADA seating was immaculate. Our view was never obstructed and we were considerably close to the stage.
Unfortunately, storm clouds quickly rolled in and by the time the opening band, Amon Amarth, stopped playing lightning was striking across the sky. The Star Lake team calmly and quickly ushered the lawn seating into the covered areas and then Ghost came on stage. The sound, lighting and other effects were AMAZING. Sadly, their set was cut a little short because the storm came back in full force. The lead singer walked back on stage and personally announced to the crowd that we needed to exit the Pavilion in an orderly fashion for our own safety, and thanked us for our cooperation. Staff members helped escort wheelchair users to their parking, and a crowd member stopped us to offer a rain poncho. The overall experience was perfect and in no way hindered by the storm. We would absolutely come back for another show.

Shopping-mall chain featuring a variety of brand-name & designer outlet stores.
Tanger Outlet of Pittsburgh is my go-to for my shopping needs. The stores usually offer great discounts and there is a nice variety of stores for shopping. I refer to it as my one stop shop venue. The stores offer the same or more as your traditional mall at a lower cost. The Layout is perfect as far as type of stores in each area. The restrooms are usually clean every time I stop by as well. Tanger Outlets is an open-air outlet mall that has several dozen stores and several restaurants. The stores sell a wide variety of clothing, shoes, and accessories for women, men, and children as well as some home goods and beauty products. The free parking lot has sufficient spaces, and the buildings are in good condition.
My favorite stores here are Ann Taylor Loft, Banana Republic, Brooks Brothers, Eddie Bauer, J.Crew, and Saks Off 5th. The prices are usually discounted. During my most recent visit, I thought that the salespeople could greet me more in some stores.

It is one of the easiest to navigate premium outlets. Pretty empty on the Friday morning in May. Quite large selection of stores (not all of them though) but pretty compact in size. You don’t have to walk for miles to find what you are looking for. Located just 3min. from I-79. The only drawback is the usual poor food court.

I visited this place a few times now. It’s the closest one to the Pittsburgh area. Second closest I think is in Grove City. Has all the typical outlet stores like Nike, Under Armour, Etc. food court is decent but doesn’t have a ton of options.
Horse racetrack for harness racing & casino for live bets, table games, poker rooms, slots & dining.
The Hollywood Casino is newly remodeled and they did a great job. There is a large bar now located in the center of the food court that is first class. All the food is good and they have a very good mix of slots and table games. And the added bonus, the have the horse races. The races are always fun. If it's been a while since you have been there it's worth going for another look.

Have not been there since pandemic started in 2019. Was very disappointed at the cleanliness. Trash between slot machines. Ladies restroom smelled. No one cleaning machines after people left the machine they were playing. Very disappointed at the food gallery. Pizza was cold and poor selection at other areas offering food. Employees were standing around talking to each other and a lot were on their phones. Was not greeted upon entry to casino. They were to involved in their own conversations. No one smiling.
They need to go to Live Casino In Greensburg and see how things should be done. Clean, friendly, happy employees engaging with customers to be sure their experience at the Casino is top notch.

Hollywood Casino at The Meadows is about 25 miles outside of Pittsburgh and has a variety of slot machines, table games, and a harness racing track. The casino also has a selection of dining options, a hotel & spa and a full schedule of events and concerts throughout the year.
I noticed the reviews were mixed (before my first visit) and can certainly see why, after my second visit. We did notice a large variety of slots (though many were older) and a good number of table games for the size. However, as many mentioned, the decor is dated & boring. With the exception of the Barstool games area, there's not much to give you a sense of fun or joy. The staff I've encountered have been either helpful and friendly or quite the opposite, especially the bar staff.
Overall, Hollywood Casino at The Meadows is an average casino. It is not the best casino in Pennsylvania, not the worst either. If you are looking for a place to gamble, see a cover band or just have some fun, it is definitely one of the better suited options in the area.

Something has changed with slot payouts recently (starting January 2023). Used to be that we’d play and get wins and could play for hours which was entertaining even though we’d go home with nothing. Now we play and run out of money immediately. Bonus games won are typically very small wins. Also, everyone around us has been losing. No excitement. We were there with friends last night and they had free slot play drawings. The winners who were chosen (5 per hour) were winning $200 to $300 in free slot play. They used to have drawings giving out $500 to $1,000. Also, if the winner didn’t show up in time, they wouldn’t call out additional names. I know the casino needs to make money but they’ve definitely lowered the RTP in slots. Other than what’s been happening recently, the entire casino is awesome. Employees are nice too. Picture is a win from December 2022 when slots were paying out more often.

Very nice casino. The sky walk connection to the Hyatt hotel to the parking garage is nice. A little much to walk through in the parking garage to get to the casino if you are parked in the hotel area side, but it's nice because it's enclosed. The casino floor is huge. We visited on a Wednesday night and it was pretty empty. However on Friday after checkout I stopped over and played some slots and it was filling up pretty quickly around noon time. The staff was very friendly and the host that was on shift on Wednesday was even able to get us a nice compted meal at the Club Elite & Owners Lounge. The meal was great and the alcoholic drinks were strong and a decent price. I checked out the poker room and it was smaller, but layout was nice and there is a cage right there which is always a plus. Definitely a spot we will be stopping at and hopefully also staying at the next time we are in the Pittsburgh area.

Always enjoy this casino, mainly because the pay out is more here than at Rivers. Lots of various slots. Easy parking. Never had any issues here. They also tend to have great music as well.

We couldn't get into an RV park on that day, so found this place to boondock. It was FABULOUS. HUGE RV/TRUCK lot to park in. Beautiful views, and you walk across the top of parking garage, take elevator down and then into the casino. And the Casino is super nice, as are the staff! We were about to leave and had some doggy poopoo in a bag and not sure what to do, since we couldn't find the dumpster. A staff person in a golf cart was driving by said to just throw it in his trash can on the cart. The boys liked it too!

Good assortment of machines, not really too busy and help comes somewhat quickly. My main issue with this place is there are no free drinks for active slot players unless you're a part of their membership program and you're level 4 (whatever that means). Every casino from the several states I've been to has offered free drinks to anyone playing at slots.

Had fun. However, not from the slots. Did “pretty”good on one game only. Played many slots, 88 cent bet / bonus produced 1.30. A lot of old games, that were fun back in the day, but didn’t pay well. Enjoyed the game area with cornhole, hockey and giant jenga. Nice to have options to stay and hang out. Drinks were pretty weak and expensive. One small bar in the back and a larger one (non smoking) with sports betting. 1/2 of casino was smoking.

We went here for New Years Eve and it was a great place to spend the holiday. There was a lot of people there and this casino actually gives you enough hits to enjoy your time and play. There was love entertainment which was actually good as well. We'll return here for sure
Old Economy Village is a historic museum located in Beaver County that presents the preserved 19th-century lifestyle of the Harmony Society, a religious group. The community's homes and working buildings are still intact, providing visitors with an immersive experience of what life was like during this time period. Nearby Smicksburg also offers insight into the Amish way of life. The Christmas in the Village event is highly recommended as volunteers do an excellent job sharing their knowledge.
If you are a history buff, Old Economy Village is the place four you! Others who would find the Harmonist community fascinating would be students of architecture, as well as arborists, horticulturalists, photographers and artists.
Old Economy offers very entertaining special and seasonal programs such as a "Halloween" haunt hunt, Christmas celebrations with decorations and lighting, and many more.
It is well worth your time and effort. Programs are comparatively inexpensive; as example, the Halloween program costs only $16 per person (money well spent).
Check their website for calendar events, hours of operation and more.
If you're in the area, take a well-deserved break and come away with very special memories. By

Visited on a non touring day and they gave us total access to all the buildings. And I will share my photographs with you want a beautiful place? It was basically a lutheran outcropped Commune type living arrangement definitely worth looking into the history of it. It's very interesting. George Rapp was the founder.

Ride the cable car At Duquesne Incline and see the best views of downtown Pittsburgh
So whenever you see pictures of Pittsburgh, I am sure you are looking it downtown with and cable car in the foreground. it is easily one of the best things to do in Pittsburgh.
From the cars, there are great views out over the city. Once used to transport workers all the way back since the 1800s. they are still using two original 1877 cable cars, the Duquesne Incline is a working museum, with the upper station providing photos and displays on the history of the incline. at the top, you can also see the working mechanism, wheel, and all.
I don't know if it is the norm, but there was a guide in our cabin and he gave a brief idea about incline history, and how it come into the picture. Duquesne Incline was rescued and restored by a group of local residents in 1963 and still delights residents and visitors with its original, elegant, wooden cable cars
Parking: $10 and that's valid for 24 hours. Parking is more expensive than tickets which are just $5. You don't pay at the counter, you put the exact amount in a cylindrical box (nobody checks what you are putting in the container). a counter lady comes in a while and shoves it with a stick. i have never seen a system like this.
if you want to experience a slice of the city’s long history, go for it.

Very beautiful and historic place. The incline has been running since the 1800's. Its been a must see location in Pittsburgh for many years. My son and I went for our 1st but not last visit. The views of the city are spectacular. Many different ways to get great photos. On the cable car and at the top on the observation deck. At the top there are lots of exhibits that outline some of the history of the incline and cars. It also depicts interesting history of Pittsburgh. It is so cheap that a family could afford this fun and educational excursion. Ill definately be back with more of my family. Take cash and exact change. A round trip for 2 adults is $10. They are friendly and nice enough to let you go ahead and ride. You can get change at the top. Either from the gift shop or an ATM.

whoa! this is such a unique experience. Its definitely the more historic-feeling of the 2 inclines. Both inclines are wonderful but I love the vintage nuance of Duquesne. Just keep it functional and absolutely preserve the wabi sabi aesthetic pls Pittsburgh, otherwise don't change anything - its beautiful! thx

Rode the incline up and down as part of an excellent sightseeing tour offered by Molly's Trolleys. There is a panoramic view at the top of Pittsburgh from the north side. The ride is in a no-frills vintage car and there are antique photos in the waiting area.

Mt Washington is a picturesque location in Pittsburgh, renowned for its magnificent panoramic views of the city. One can savor these views from Grandview Avenue's Restaurant Row, which houses upscale seafood and Italian restaurants. The Monongahela and Duquesne Inclines are funiculars that ascend the hill to lookouts like Grandview Overlook. Point of View Park has a bronze sculpture of George Washington with Seneca leader Guyasuta, while Emerald View Park boasts several trails for hiking enthusiasts.
The stadium Heinz Field is located in the city of Pittsburgh and is home to the NFL's Pittsburgh Steelers and the NCAA's Pittsburgh Panthers. The stadium was built in 2001 and has a capacity of 65,572. It is one of the most technologically advanced stadiums in the NFL with many seats and suites offering excellent views over the city skyline and riverfront.
We had the opportunity to stop by Heinz Stadium and take a bit to explore the stadium. Such a class act organization. This stadium has so much history, passion, and fire for the Black and Gold faithful. Thank you Pittsburgh, till we meet again. ❤️

A sprawling space that I saw on a frigid evening. I’m sure it has even more charm in the daylight and when it’s warmer. Relatively easy and smooth to navigate but the seating is nothing special. Club level is warm and comfy although doesn’t have nearly enough seating for how busy it can get in the cold.
Overall this is the spot to be if you want to watch the Steelers play at home, but it’s definitely not a great “value” for what you’ll receive. Ticket prices simply soar especially around any significant games.
Parking is as expected impossible, so you’ll have to hike to get where you need to be. For true fans though it’s all worth it. Very enjoyable atmosphere and pretty surprisingly pleasant outlook. Very little mischief from anyone. A more mature crowd than many teams can boast.

This is one of the nicer stadiums that I've been to. It's always clean in the bathroom area and the fans are not as bad as you think they would be. The location is perfect. It's right in downtown Pittsburgh and it has got a lot of beautiful sites that you can see. There's seventeen eateries around and there's a marketplace that sells a variety of ethnic items located right next to the stadium. The stadium is located about one mile away from the Hilton hotel on Forbes Avenue.

This is a nice stadium. Fairly clean though the men's bathroom was turned into a women's and the sign changed so people were waiting in line forever not realizing there were only 5 stalls and the bathroom smelled like urine (the actual women's did not). Food was good. Staff was kind. Seats were nice.

Not the best stadium but not the worst. Came here for a pre season game kind of crowded but it was manageable. I liked how easy it was to get in. BUT really hard to get anything from burgatory on the 2nd or 3rd floor. Wouldn't come here for anything but preseason but overall the experience isn't bad. Very pretty views.

Stadium was packed. Still plenty of room to get by others. Ushers were very helpful. The lines at the concessions were slow, but not bad for the crowd. Prices were ridiculously high, as with any pro sporting event. Seating allowed us to see the entire field, we didn't feel cramped, and it was clean. Made for an enjoyable experience.

Great stadium for a live performance! Easy to navigate once inside and the club seat view is great. Plenty of bathrooms, however they changed the male bathrooms to women bathrooms during the show. Plenty of places to get an adult beverage as well. Plenty of parking around the stadium too. However, with how high traffic the show was, we parked downtown and were able to walk to the stadium from there.

Came down to Heinz Field about a month ago for the first time (it will always be Heinz to me) for the Steelers vs. Packers game and the experience was great. Stadium looks nice, got to see a flyby for the first time with it being Veterans Day weekend, and the game was close towards the very end. Food was good although I would recommend buying whatever food you need prior to the beginning of the game since the lines do tend to get long during the game and made me miss the entire third quarter. Overall was a great experience for the first time being there and I definitely don’t regret taking a two day trip out to PA for the weekend just for some Live Football.

Very nice stadium. Sitting on the North seats you get the view of downtown.
This will always be Heinz Field to me regardless of who pays to have their name on it.
If you attend an event during the day there is little to no shade, so bring sunscreen.
I've sat 10 rows from the field to the nose bleed seats and views of the field are great all around.
Couple of downsides are that it's located downtown near PNC park with limited expensive parking. Good luck getting out fast on any event especially when two events are going on at both parks.
Multiple entrances make it convenient as well as a T stop near by, and a on ramp to the highway.

PNC Park, the home of the Pittsburgh Pirates baseball team, is a classic stadium with beautiful architecture and a large fan base. The stadium has hosted all sorts of events, from major league baseball games to concerts. The views of the city are wonderful and the food at some of the restaurants nearby is great.
Great place, great view. Recommend to attend a game here. Huge parking lot available around, relatively cheaper rates starting 8$. Will recommend to come early for the game and enjoy the snack bar and drinks, and you might also get a chance to have game ball when teams are practicing. Escalator available to go up the levels and merchandise store are also present around entrance.

Absolutely stunning park. Gorgeous backdrop of the famous and jaw dropping Pittsburgh Skyline full with Yellow Bridges and all. Decent atmosphere at game, fans were slow to start, however as the game progressed, the game became more and more exciting. The two teams, (Hometown Pirates, and the Visiting Atlanta Braves) delivered a great performance coming down to the wire in the 9th inning. Would 100% recommend for the view alone. The baseball is an added bonus.

I was asked what I wanted to do for my birthday a couple of months ago. My answer was go to a Pirates game or Mexico. I was thrilled when my birthday came and my love sent me a picture of my Pirate ticket. We arrived and parked with no problem in parking lot 2 gold walked to a little bar outside the park and had a cold beverage while waiting to get in the park. The staff checking all of the fans in were pleasant, polite and helpful. The selection and ease of purchasing snacks and beverages was one of the great parts of my experience as I did not miss but a few moments of the game while using the facilities. Section 119 row DD seat 1 and 2 is where we sat I loved the crow and would sit in that section again. In reality I would love to attend as many home games as there are but will most likely make it a yearly tradition to get a game around my birthday again. This was the most fun I have had as a birthday adventure in years.

Not the first time I've been to PNC Park. Always a great experience. Great park, awesome view, friendly staff. Tickets for where we sat were a great value, talking bucket list kind of stuff, for a decent price. Being an Orioles fan, I'm used to a great stadium. I'm biased as OPACY is the best but you'll never go wrong here! Only downfall is the price of concessions but what was offered was an amazing selection. I'll be back many times and I urge everyone to take in a game here!

We went to a Dodger/Pirates game and it was a great experience. I took a 22 year old and a 2 yo. The park was clean, Well staffed, and easy to get around. I felt very safe the entire time. Staff was awesome about upgrading our seats - I was worried the 2yo would fall as we were pretty high up. However the upper deck seats were beautiful with a view of the game and the city.
People around us were also there just to have a good time. Food and drinks were a bit pricey, but that's to be expected and way cheaper than back in the bay area.
There are a lot of cheap parking options well within walking distance.
Loved all the little restaurants and pubs with open and outdoor seating right outside the park piping the game through speakers.
Pittsburgh deserves a better reputation!

After growing up here and having season tickets for years to Three Rivers then moving away, this was my first trip to either new stadium. It is fantastic. Club seats are the best! If you are thinking of going to a Pirate game, spend the extra money and get club seats. The seats are padded and the environment is fantastic. It is worth every penny. First, the crowds are much smaller in the club seating area. There are short lines for food, and the food choices are great. Second, the restrooms are clean, much cleaner than the normal restrooms. It has a clubhouse atmosphere and it is all air conditioned inside. We sat in Section 209, row A seats 1 and 2 and they were great. We had a fantastic view of the game, and went it when we needed a break from the heat. There were no rowdy crowds, and you can get a table inside and watch the game for a bit while you are eating, or taking a break from the sun. I think the best part about the club seating is that the seats are padded. You can sit, watch the game, and never get uncomfortable. It was a great experience and one of the best ways to beat the crowds and to have good amenities. The tickets are a bit more, but you will have a great experience.

Awesome ball park and atmosphere! Even though the team itself is not very good, the stadium gets a solid crowd of dedicated fans.
There is a lot of places to eat and drink at, especially Manny’s BBQ owned by Pirates legend Manny Sanguillan. Sometimes you can even meet Manny in front of his place for a picture and an autograph!
Everyone that works at the stadium that I interacted with was extremely friendly. The man at the ticket window even took his time to look for an aisle seat for me!
They also have a lot of activities for kids on the first level, including a big playground overlooking the River.
I purchased tickets the day of game at the ticket window.
There are a few parking decks around. Many hobos begging for change line the walk to the stadium.
All around a modern and awesome stadium and a fun place to watch a ball game!
Hope this helps! Happy Travels!

I recently had the pleasure of attending a Pittsburgh Pirates game at PNC Park and must say that it was an unforgettable experience. From the moment I walked through the gates, I was struck by the stunning views of the city skyline and the river. The stadium itself is clean, modern, and designed with the fan in mind.
I was pleased with the amenities available, including a variety of concession stands, comfortable seating, and a great selection of merchandise. The atmosphere was electric, with passionate fans cheering on their team and the staff doing an excellent job of keeping everyone engaged.
The game itself was intense, with both teams putting on a great show. The Pirates put up a good fight but ultimately lost to their opponents. Despite this, I had an absolutely amazing time and would highly recommend attending a game at PNC Park to anyone who loves baseball or wants to experience the excitement of a top-notch stadium.

There are plenty of other dining options around the park as well as other activities if you are looking to make a full day of it! We are fortnate to have such great sports teams in Pittsburgh & wonderful venues to enjoy them in!

PNC Park actually lives up to the hype. All seats are great, people are friendly and food was very good. I loved all the Roberto Clemente stuff. Wish I could have seen him play.

There's a reason people say it's the best park in MLB.. Great view inside but it has the small town feel on the outside. The people were all very friendly to me as well... Bucket list - check..

Absolutely beautiful ball park. The atmosphere is great and the view overlooking the downtown is incredible. Is definitely one of top 3 ballparks in the states. I would recommend any baseball fan to come visit. The game was followed by a 30 minute firework display that rivals Canada Day or 4th of July celebrations

Excellent experience! Very nice venue, great seats, tons of food and drinks choices, packed house with plenty of action on the field! An absolute must for any baseball fan! Very intimate field! We had an awesome view from right behind the Yankees clubhouse! Go Yankees!
The Andy Warhol Museum is a museum located in Pittsburgh, PA that houses a large collection of art by the late artist. The museum is known for its constantly changing exhibits dedicated to pushing boundaries in American art, as well as its star-studded lineup of artists who have exhibited their work here.
This is an incredible museum that I will revisit whenever in Pittsburgh. Amazing history and art, that while the story is sad, the colors are inspiring and vibrant. Its hard not to feel good in this museum. Some interactive exhibits, such as the balloons and the video print. Worth a visit, and I would take 1.5 - 2 hours to go through for the full experience.

I loved this museum and here’s why.
- It’s chronological, starting from the beginning of his life on floor 7 to a contemporary artist inspired by his art on floor 2. Because of this, you can see how his art developed in relation to what was going on in his life.
- It’s interactive. There are parts of the museum that allow you to interact with the environment.
- It’s arguably the best cultural institution in Pittsburgh.
I had a lovely time there and spent a good 2-3 hours in total. I highly recommend going and spending a morning or afternoon with Warhol’s life.

This is a well thought out tribute to Andy Warhol with floors broken down into decades. I love their collection of Warhol's earlier work. The gift shop is also really fun and full of all sorts of souvenirs.

Comprehensive chronological look at the career of Andy Warhol. Very relaxed compared to most art museums I've been to and a very fascinating experience. Certainly worth stopping if you have any interest in him or art in general.

I am not a museum guy, but this one is interesting. It sis around the famous Andy. It is mixture of pictures, paintings, movie work that he was involved in as well as science.
Andy did experiments on effect of environment on paintings. And his work caused some projects about the subject.
People working there are awesome. Highly recommended
You can easily spend fun 2 hours regardless of what your taste is.

The famous Andy Warhol, I have always seen some of his famous artworks but this museum shows a major of his work and some that are not very popular. I did not know this but it is the largest museum in America that is based on a single artist. Overall this is a nice museum, it flows in a logical way and also gives you the important parts of his history as well as his artworks. Nice museum and spent about 2 hours in there.

Went here with my girlfriend for her birthday. While she had been here before, it was my first time. Learned a lot about Warhol and had fun viewing his artwork. According to my girlfriend though there was not as much of his artwork on display as before. Parking was located across the street and the gift shop has lots of things for Warhol fans.

I didn’t know much about Andy Warhol’s past but this museum does an amazing job in explaining his roots in the Pittsburgh community and the development of his style of art. Great place to go to.
I was here for a private event held after hours. Wonderful staff. Easy location to get in and out of.

This museum gave a truly comprehensive history of the artist's life and work. The range of media, and inspirations for his work came into clear focus. We really enjoyed the floor by floor layout, starting at the top floor and working down. We took about three hours to see most everything there, biding our time on many of the sections, scooting through some others if the general public crowd was seeming to be intrusive to our reflections and contemplations, education or interest.

If you're into Andy Warhol, which sadly, I'm not, then this is a location you can't miss. The Carnegie Institute has honored one of its more famous students who achieved both commercial and artistic success by gathering in this museum all things Warhol. Is that a good or bad thing? Depending on your appreciation of his work, you'll have to decide.

I honestly always thought of Andy Warhol as a pretentious, barely talented, art house d-bag.
After a really great visit to the Andy Warhol museum, I now only think 2/3 of those things.
I now find myself impressed with his work and his influence. Really well put together museum that is well worth the price of admission. Give yourself 2-3 hours to fully enjoy it.

We had a really wonderful time. The flow of the museum is really well done and there is a lot to do, so they really do a good job of making an immersive experience. I didn't realize that Warhol was a collector or that he created time capsules - that section of the museum could have been an entire day.
We spent a good 3 and a half hours at the museum, and probably could have done another 1-2 hours to do absolutely everything. Well done and great staff! Highly recommend!

The life of Andy Warhol is displayed all here ! From his early life as a student.. the story starts. The museum show case Andy Warhol life as he grows up. His family, his class mates and all. There's even a class photo ! He looked so different then!
It then went on to describe his grow in as an artist. From what he started to draw to his works in photography and works in print. His technique of silk screen printing was documented. We can even try in in the museum. For paper prints it is free.
This is a must to go if you love art.
The only drawback are his more famous works of Marilyn manore and Campbell soup and self portrait are not found here. But in other museum.
.
It is a very well worth visit to this place.

I loved this museum! Arranged chronically, you start at the top and work your way down through the decades of Warhol's life and career. Each level starts with a year-by-year rundown through the decades before you move into the rooms of artwork and video pieces.
It works for those both familiar and new to his work and the artwork and ephemera is displayed beautifully and gives you the opportunity to be immersed in it. I loved the video sections too, I caught 'Camp' and it was brilliant to sit back and enjoy (don't forget to check out the seats too, they're different!).
The staff were very welcoming and the shop was brilliant- I think one of the best museum shops I've been to!

Went during free museum month. It was very very busy. Being the chronology of his artist life starts on the seventh floor and goes down, we took the stairs and did it backward because the elevators took forever. I absolutely love the velvet underground and collectibles floor. Fantastic gift shop loaded with everything. Definitely worth the visit.

As a massive (and curious) fan of Andy Warhol, I was really excited at the opportunity to enter a space that was a complete immersion into his works; and have the opportunity to get closer to his artwork.
The museum did not disappoint at all - as it really gave a comprehensive overview of his life, legacy, collections and influences.
Each floor represents a different decade of the artists life, and details his journey from Pittsburgh to New York City. The Gallery Technicians were all super knowledgeable and answered the questions that I had.
The gallery has a variety of the Andy Warhols works from a variety of mediums… From paintings, to sculptures, stuffed animals, video installations and more!!! All well worth a visit ✨✨

It was wonderful to see Warhol's work and life in chronological order throughout the 7 floors of the museum. You can then understand him and his art better. The display of his personal collections was interesting indeed, and tactile exhibts prepared for visitors with disabilities were brilliant. In the lower level is a hands-on art studio where you do your own artwork - smudge prints, silk screenings, etc. that was great fun.

Had a great time introducing my son to works of Andy Warhol while we were visiting Pittsburgh. The museum is definitely well thought out and spans the decades of his career. If you can find the time to visit while you are in town, you definitely will not be disappointed!

Fascinating way to spend an afternoon here in his birthplace.
A novice art connoisseur, I knew very little of Warhol prior to the visit and that meant for an amazing experience I could savor.
Started a little after 2pm and by 330p I decided it was time for a pause on the 4th floor (1980s).
Looking forward to a 2nd visit for floors 3 to 1 which includes a much see film.
Highly recommend this museum especially for a rainy afternoon. The full experience will take you 3 hours if you're like me and reading each description.
Looking forward to also sitting in the theater outside the gift shop on my 2nd visit.
Watching The documentary "Brillo Box" and gaining even more appreciation for this genre of art now.

I was surprised this museum wasn't packed with people, such a great place to visit in Pittsburgh. We really got to take our time and see these iconic pieces by Andy Warhol. If you are a fan of his work this is a MUST SEE.

Awesome museum, we spent half the day here. Not only a comprehensive overview of Warhol's life, art and philosophy but had awesome art projects for visitors to create on the bottom floor included with admission. Plus a pretty great gift shop! Would recommend to anyone interested in Warhol or modern art, they really have an incredible collection of his works and personal items and do a great job putting his work into context.

My cousin has been talking about us going to this Museuem for years! We usualy take roadtrips every year. So this years she visited me in NYC and we drove back home to Louisiana. I wasn't intersted in Andy Warhol until I saw his documentary on Netflix recently( Awesome watch) so we went. I always love when buisness and/or organations are welcoming and accomdating as best they can be,and they were here.
I purchased tickets online the night before and we had a blast. 7 floors, starting from the top each floor is about a time period of his life and work, earliest years starts on the 7th floor.
Visited Friday December 15th 2023.
