It is absolutely beautiful. The way up on the lift was amazing. The top had a gorgeous view and trails to hike. Going down had breath taking views.

Great spot for younge and eld alike! One of my first outdoor spots, and many... MANY years later, still holds all the wonders for the outdoor, child in all of us!

We recently had the pleasure of riding the chair lift to the top of McCauley Mountain to take in the breathtaking views. Our little one rode for free, while the two adults paid a very reasonable fee for the adventure. The staff here were very friendly and the views were marvelous. Well worth a visit when you are in Old Forge!

A great visit for the non-hiker in your family- take a chairlift!

One of my favorite places in the whole world.

Spectacular view from the chair lift ride to see in fall.
We experienced the Black River in a whole new light, I'm glad my wife convinced me to go! Dylan was fantastic as our guide but you cannot go wrong with any of the knowledgeable staff. We booked late but ARO was more than accommodating in getting us in a boat. Highly recommend- excellent day from start to finish.

We had a great experience and loved every minute of it! Thanks "Scary" Larry for being our guide. You are awesome!!
No one ever says "Remember that day when we all sat around on our phones?" This will be a day that we talk about for a long time.

Best part of our trip to the 1000 Islands! While others complained of the 90° weather we enjoyed splish splashing down the Black River! What an adrenaline rush!!
Guide "Scary Larry" wasn't scary at all!
Very informative, professional, caring and safety minded. Thank you for an amazing day!

As a veteran Navy aircrew and aircraft mechanic, and now a proud grandma in her 60s, I have had a lot of experience with excitement, fun and adventure. And I will say this was one of the top 10 most exciting and fun experiences I have had in my life! I highly recommend it to people of all ages to try this wonderful adventure! A special shout out to Magic Matt for making this not only fun, safe, but highly enjoyable. A truly funny guy ;-)

Scary Larry was an amazing guide and you can tell he really loves what he does! It was my first time rafting and my whole group had an AMAZING TIME. Writing this review as we’re leaving the parking lot. Will definitely be coming back!!! Thank you ARO and LARRY!! :))

We had an awesome trip down the Black River. Our guide Steve was fantastic. He's very funny but makes sure you know what to do to stay in the raft. The water was very fast with big rapids. A couple of the people in our raft were very nervous at the start but by the end of the trip agreed we need to do it again.

We had the best day on the Black River with ARO. Highly recommend - a great combo of adventure and learning about the area - our family (age ranges 13-50) loved it. And it’s the perfect combo of exciting and safe, thanks to our guide. Definitely go with the best guide - “Scary Larry”! (Spoiler alert: not scary, fabulous). A fantastic day on the water !

I went with my husband, his sister and husband and I can say we all had the time of our lives. Steve aka “Stevie” was our guide and he was hilarious and so fun. He was so knowledgeable about the towns history as well which made the trip that much better. He made us feel really safe, while also allowing us to have an amazing time. I can’t wait to go again!! We’re planning on doing moose river in April and requesting Steve as our guide. I chatted with Larry and one of the other guys who helped organize everyone together at the beginning and I can tell you they were all nice. I can tell these guys all genuinely love their jobs. All I have to say is keep up the good work guys!!! Book a trip, it’s well worth it!!

I went with my school's outdoor adventure club. It was so much fun! We had Dylan (Ferdinand as referred to by the owner) as our guide and highly recommend requesting him. he was very funny but also controlled the boat extremely well. He was a great balance between getting a good adrenaline rush and feeling safe. He also made sure we had plenty of opportunities to swim, surf, chill, and celebrate after controlling a rapid on the ride. He gave us plenty of rest while rowing and had such easy commands to understand on top of being a really fun and chill guy!

I had such an amazing experience at ARO. The guides were fun, reliable, personable, and made sure that it was a positive experience all around. This was my first time white water rafting, and I felt very safe and informed the whole time. The communication between guides made everything run smoothly. Every single employee was fun to talk to, and were so happy to help. 10/10 experience I would love to do it again. (Also loved my guide Dylan! He was one of the best parts of the experience shoutout.)

This was our first time rafting. Adirondack River Outfitters went above and beyond for everyone. The entire day was well planned and we definitely felt safe. The instructions and directions were definitely well communicated throughout the entire trip. I would definitely recommend them!!!!

Small lake craft with open upper deck and enclosed lower deck. Snack bar. 2 hours touring lakes from #1 to #4.

Thoroughly enjoyable cruise with good live narration (bit dubious about some of the facts though). Visit during fall to see some fantastic Adirondacks colour!
50+ rides in & out of the water, from speed slides & kiddie pools to bumper cars & a Ferris wheel.
AMAZING!!! ANOTHER ARTO MONACO ORIGINAL PARK!!!! Very much the BEST preserved and strongest running/operating park remaining in the Adirondacks. With their 1980s addition of the water park this place is STILL GROWING AND WINNING!!! Kids and adults have a FANTASTIC TIME here, riding the slides, seeing the Circus, and enjoying the rides and food. Ever clean and always with polite staff, you'll be as in love with this place as I am.
J.D. Keith — Google review
Never got to visit here as a kid, and as an adult thought it was just a water park so I didn't really bother going.....until last summer when we decided to try it out for a YouTube video, and oh my gosh I loved it so much! They have the most delightfully cheesy fairy tale area and animatronics that STILL WORK. I was in nostalgia heaven. Not to mention the park was really clean and the employees were super nice. I say this as an adult with zero children, it is so fun. It's just a laid back campy good time. And the fries were great. Cannot wait to go back this summer.
Ken (Flying Roadtrips) — Google review
We have been visited Enchanted Forest/Water Safari every summer for almost 25 years and have never had a bad visit!
The weather hasn't always cooperated, but that goes with Summer in the Adirondacks. The staff and the Family-friendly policies are top notch! My highest recommendation for summertime fun!

Ever since I was a little girl I've been coming to this amazing water park once or twice a year.
I have so many good memories here as a kid (besides the finger injury). My grandma brought me here a few times. I was so happy to bring my boyfriend here for the first time together last year and it was such a great experience.
A bit overcrowded for a Wednesday but we still had a good time.. At the place we first met. Can't wait to go back! Such a friendly environment!!
Went back on a Monday and it wasn't too crowded at all. No wait in lines. It was great!

Been going here since I was a preteen and it has never disappointed. So much to do, so much family fun, one of the best places in the state of New York to visit during the summer and with family. Kids, adults, elders, there are plenty to do for all, they all go wild.
Roberto Gonzalez — Google review
We had a blast when we visited. They are so many things for little kiddos to do. Many places have small and mediocre kiddy lands but NOT water safari! There are so many things to do here that don't involve getting wet, for the whole family. Thier petting barn was adorable.
Christine Bisnett — Google review
The Enchanted Forest Water Safari is always a good time. But now for the passed 2 years not all of the rides were open. I sure it was do to staffing issues but seems like they could alternate some of the rides, mornings these rides are open and in the afternoon these rides are open. The places is clean they could use someone to walk around in the morning before the guest get there with a leaf blower to blow the walk ways off so there are not little stones and berry's on them. Food is pricey so remember to bring your own with you.
Douglas Paucke — Google review
I've been coming here since I was 4 years old, I'm now 17 years old and this has been my favorite place for a "day off" during the summer. We return every summer at least once and usually stay at an inn and come back for a day and the next. Everything is great, staff are amazing , foods great so are the rides. Coming back again and again :)
Masha Siro — Google review
Just a great experience. Seemingly everything a kid needs to feel like a kid during summer. Will return every summer for a lifetime!
James Cummings — Google review
This place is a nice one to go with your family. It can not go wrong!
The amusement attractions are kind old school but anyways bring good fun for everyone.
Water park is cool with several rides.. lines can get long sometimes.
Food is ok.. there’s always margin for improvement in this for all parks.
Cleber Lopes — Google review
We are stationed in Fort Drum for the 2nd time and only just learned about this place! It's a nice little park with plenty to do for all ages! The circus was nice as well! Fairly priced! Backpacks and coolers are allowed. They have strollers and wagons for rent if needed. It was really nice. Keep in mind though, the ferris wheel is NOT one of those romantic ones lol it's definitely a lot faster than the typical boardwalk wheel. 🤭😅 (learned the hard way) we look forward to going back in the following years to come. 😀
Nichole Spivey — Google review
I’ve been coming here since I was a child. Literally, nothing has changed, and not in a bad way either. It really keeps the classical old school charm. They’ve added a couple new water slides which is nice.
Santino Cusanelli — Google review
We came last year and loved it so much we decided to return this year. This place is truly amazing. The park is so easy to navigate and there is so much to do for kids and adults included. The staff is wonderful and work so hard to keep it nice and clean. Can't wait to come next year!!
Jerrie Homovich — Google review
This place hasn’t changed much at all since I was a kid and I love every bit of it! Parking was well organized and we had zero wait for parking or getting in. And this was the week of the 4th of July! There is something for absolutely everyone! Tons of shade from trees and cut out areas in the woods with covered picnic tables. My sister even brought her 4 month old with zero issue keeping him cool and in the shade! We were tempted to get one of the pricy cabanas but in my opinion unless your planning on staying in one spot and you get that cabana at that spot it’s probably not worth it. We got there a little later in the day ( around 130) and we had zero problem finding two picnic tables under a pavilion in a great spot in the woods right below wave pool and the best food spots! We’ve never had any issue with leaving our beach bags and shoes etc at the tables but we do usually get a locker ( located right after the main gates across from snow whites castle) to lock up valuables . You can buy there or bring a water proof lanyard thing for your phone cards/money. I highly suggest investing in one! Our little kids (2-4yrs) loved all the water activities they have both in the front and all the way in the back that’s designed just for them! You can bring your kids down the small slides and even stand and catch them at the bottom ( there is staff at each tot slide as well) we always skipped the dry rides as kids but my littles actually loved all the little kid rides. Some of which you can ride with them! the big kids(9-19yrs)loved all the big slides! There were lines but don’t be intimidated it goes by quickly! and everyone loved the wave pool ( can be overwhelming with little ones but staying right at the edge and letting them sit down and enjoy getting knocked around a little by the waves was a big hit! ) lazy river ( littles have to either go on your lap or you can hold the tub and walk the river with them in it) train ( which you can actually use to get from front to back of park bc it stops)
And walking through all the little houses. There’s even a little petting zoo with farm animals you can go right into and with change buy feed to feed goats and sheep . The lovely lady grabbed straw for us to feed bc we had no change. So much to do I highly recommend going for two days! We’ve done hotel stay, camping, and cabins… we loved the cabins the most! Some sit right above the park and they were really nice and a lot of fun when my entire extended family goes bc we rent a bunch of neighboring cabins! Also definitely buy tickets online, even if day of. It’s a little cheaper and you avoid any lines if there happens to be any.
Julia McIntyre — Google review
Oh this water park is wonderful! Plenty of activities for the family! I loved the lazy river! My kids and wife loved the slides! The food inside the park are pretty good as well! I got the garlic fries and my family got the family combo - chicken and fries - and some cherry ICEES. We were full half way through our meal! It's fair priced and the mean size is pretty good as well! The park also has plenty of parking, an arcade, changing rooms, and a fairy tale facade area. This was our first time visiting this summer and we're looking forward to next summer. Might be buying a membership too!
Easy looped hike leading up a small peak, for forest & lake vistas from a fire tower built in 1917.
Love this hike! great views and a fire tower for minimal effort.

‼️‼️ THIS LOCATION IS WHERE THE FIRETOWER IS FOR BALD MOUNTAIN ‼️‼️
Wonderful views from this mountain. It is definitely worth all the struggle to be able to see the top where the fire tower is located. It was quite a climb for my first hiking experience. At 2+ spots along the trail, the rocks almost went straight down and I had to get on all fours. Plus, the rocks were wet. Overall, I had a great time and I cannot wait to do more FireTower hikes.
Important Tip: Do NOT go on a day it is raining or the day after it has rained. ‼️Wait until rocks have had a chance to dry ‼️
Hailey Warmuth — Google review
Difficulty: Easy-Medium (lots of big rocks)
Time: Casual 2.5 hours taking our time
This hike seemed longer than anticipated, but it was great. Several gorgeous views and the fire tower is so cool. The path is a little tricky, but we saw all ages succeeding the journey.

Gretchen Brinich — Google review
My girlfriend and I hiked up here on 10/03/2022. Trail was a bit muddy and some places quite steep. Trails were well marked and the view up by the fire tower was great.
Bathrooms down at the parking area were clean. Overall the hike up to the tower and back took us about 2 hours.
Would recommend more than sneakers due to the mud and wet spots along the trail.

I really enjoyed my view of all the various bald people I had the privilege of viewing. My hike was extremely sophisticated, I saw bald people and bald animals everywhere. Seeing a bald fish was the truly best thing my sight organs had the pleasure of experiencing.

Bald Mountain in the Adirondack mountains is easily one of the most enjoyable, easy to moderate hikes I’ve tried in the Old Forge area. Just NE of Old Forge heading towards Eagle Bay, the trailhead has decent parking. The trail is an uphill mix of rock, roots and dirt. There are plenty of views along the way, beautiful rock formations and trees, and a mix of shade and sunshine. It leads up to a Firetower at the top which is nice, but I don’t feel it was as amazing as I thought it would be. The hike and views were amazing though. Just a fun way to spend an afternoon and some energy.
Mark Saetta — Google review
Great place to take a little hike with the family. The trail is about 1 mile in length and features an elevation change of about 450 feet. The trails are navigable by young and old that are reasonably fit.
I strongly recommend good trail or hiking shoes that fit well. Hiking poles can also make climbing and the trip back down more comfortable.
Bald Mountain offers a stunning view overlooking 4th Lake with the Adirondack high peaks providing a wonderful backdrop. Take a small snack, some drinking water and have a good time!

I'll never travel to Lake Placid without this trip planner again
Fantastic brunch cruise, plus the $25.00 open bar per person was a deal! Fun, and nice narrative from the captain made the trip enjoyable. Beautiful scenery and lake! Staff was friendly and fast. Highly recommend this to everyone!! Planning on making this a yearly kick off to our vacation from now on!!

Loved the boat cruise and lunch/dinner. Our Malta Seniors really enjoyed it. Thank-you for everything.

Weather was perfect. The lake was beautiful. The construction delays on 28 between Raquette Lake and Blue Mountain Lake need to be taken into consideration. Especially if you are diabetic carry some snacks & some drinks nobody wants a medical emergency while waiting over an hour. .. Enjoy the scenery. Be grateful you are visiting and not a local trying to get to work. Have patience. The end result will be worth it.

Had a fantastic time on the lunch cruise! Had a couple of the delicious sangrias before lunch and next time I MUST try Rachel's bloody Marys. I hear they are to die for. They served chicken and pork, but being a vegetarian I just had the bowtie pasta and veggies. The maple bread pudding was so wonderful...would have loved to have taken some home with me. 😉 We will be going back for the dinner cruise next summer for sure!
Monica Heuer — Google review
We had a terrific evening. The 3-hour cruise is memorable for its beauty, the staff is incredibly nice and the food is extremely good. It is probably the best restaurant in Hamilton County and then add the cruise. We will be back again and again.

We went on the Intimate Dining Cruise. The food was very well prepared with generous portions. I had the Baseball Steak and my husband had the Fresh yellowfin ahi tuna Chef Specials. We were both quite pleased with our meals. (We also got the cheese platter. It was more food than we needed. So the crew supplied a to-go container for our leftovers. Good selection of cheese, nuts bread & crackers; I recommend it for groups of 4 or more.)
The crew were all very helpful and friendly. Service was great. The narration of the sights was very informative.
On top of it all they went above and beyond all our expectations: We were staying in Old Forge and we had car trouble. When I called the office to look for transportation suggestions Chris, who was manning the phones gave us TONS of help and we got a wonderful ride to and from the cruise.
It is a wonderful family business.

What a great time. Beautiful boat and scenery / history was fabulous. I had the salmon which was fabulous. Soup/ salad and dessert was also great. Unfortunately, my husband got prime rib and so did 2 others at our table. All 3 were not good, very tough and chewy. Also we had one ordered and paid for the shrimp cocktail which we never got. But when we told them, they immediately refunded the money for the shrimp cocktail. Outside of the bad prime rib, the entire dinner and cruise was great. They did have other options for dinner so just stay clear of the prime rib.

🌟 Nothing short of excellence!
We absolutely love this experience, the scenery, the staff, the service, the food and the family! We have taken a dinner cruise with Raquette Lake Navigation every year for 7+ years and every cruise has been fabulous.
With a heavy heart, we felt the loss of Captain Dean this year and were taken back to hear his familar voice on the speakers. We know he is proud of the way they have carried on in his honor. 🥂
We look forward to our next visit.

My husband and I recently did the Monday night boat and dinner tour with Raquette Lake Navigation Co. It was the BEST experience. From the moment I stepped on, I felt like I had been transported back in time.. to a time that was BETTER and easier and more fun. Listening to the history of the lake and the family's story of the boat and their family business was amazing. It was so wholesome, it made me cry. Legit, I cried - LOL! Photo proof. Book it! Go! I can’t give the weather 5 stars, but the boat ride and dinner were both awesome. I was really impressed by everything from the service to dessert. I was skeptical that it wouldn’t be worth the price, but it was! I think I was too excited to eat my prime rib, so I didn't take a picture, but it was a big piece that was cooked perfectly and didn’t have much fat on it.
Seriously, this place is unbelievable and will take you back to the days gone by in the Adirondacks. We arrived here after paddling many miles and hiking up the Powerhouse Trail along Outlet Brook. Made it for the tour of the buildings and property - this was not your typical tour as guide has a personal connection to the place. You will make your own connections too in the dining and overnight
accommodations. Food is standard “rustic” but is perfect for the place. Highly recommended looking into going old school (like we did) to get here. #adkh2h

Great place to visit! My son and I spent the afternoon here. The area is very beautiful. We learned a lot about the early years of the Adirondacks. Our tour guide was very nice and informative. We were able to learn about the local history. We spent time in one of the buildings learning about canoe building. My favorite activity was being able to visit and play in the onsite bowling alley!

Really interesting historical place. Wonderful to see. Highly recommend booking a tour if you are in the Adirondack area. A glimpse at one of the old Great Camps - not many available for public tours. There were some people on our tour who were actually staying at the camp - they said they were having a wonderful time. A great way to disconnect and enjoy peace and serenity!

Beautiful setting on lake. Buildings in great shape. Main lodge is magnificent. The guide was very knowledgeable and pleasant and did a fine job presenting the history of the camp to us. We had the lunch plus tour which I recommend. The dining hall interior is spectacular with wooden beams and walls, two stone fire places and fine crafted wooden tables and chairs. The lunch was good quality as well. Believe it or not we even got to bowl. Be prepared to do some walking but it wasn't difficult terrain.
John Wetherwaxx — Google review
We had a lovely afternoon of lunch and a tour of the property. The food was very good. The service was friendly and joyful. We had fun dining in the extravagant great camp dining room and imagining the Vanderbilt parties.
The tour was informative and detailed. It is a long tour so be prepared. Very interesting though maybe a little long for children especially.
Our tour guide was very passionate about the history and providing a wonderful tour, though obviously very new to the job.
We enjoyed our time and bowling on the porch was a highlight.
Amanda Burton — Google review
The camp is absolutely beautiful especially if you appreciate the old style preserved buildings and property kudos to NY for protecting this property. Our only complaint: the meals were not at all what you would expect or even as described, and it is way to far off the grid to get any thing else. Even with COVID meals could and should have been better.

Stayed here for 3 nights as part of Bike ADK tour in August. The accommodations are beautifully rustic but comfy and clean; just perfect for a historical "camp" experience. Camp staff was great and so was our food for all three meals of the day. After biking with the fantastic guides of Bike ADK (shout out to Jim, Mike and Julienne) we relaxed with kayaking, paddle boarding, hiking and playing outdoor "old fashioned" bowling which was a blast. Camp fire one night, musical entertainment another. We had our share of rain but despite that it was a fantastic, relaxing vacation. I hope to go back again!

We went for the Wednesday night dinner and a concert. The meal was absolutely amazing and they had my favorite, short ribs. The food was plentiful and the atmosphere was magnificent. This was well worth the cost of $25.

I just did the historic tour with a guide who taught about the history & other interesting facts about Great Camp Sagamore. It was all very interesting & I enjoyed it. Now I'll have to go up there to stay as a guest sometime or partake in one of their programs. The forest surrounding the area is noteworthy for exploring!

The staff is the friendliest I have ever dealt with. The camp is rustic beauty.
Don't look for cell phone use or wifi because you won't get it here. Leave your phones in your car. The rooms are clean and well kept. The three daily meals are quite good. I highly recommend this place for a rustic vacation. Hiking, boating, bowling, croquet, and more. Tours and historical significance of the camp available to.

Our tour of the Camp was led by a guide whose encyclopedic knowledge of the beautiful place and its history was impressive, yet her easy conversational presentation organized the mass of information into a thoroughly enjoyable whole. We were visiting friends who have a home nearby and found our time at Sagamore to be a highlight of the trip.

We didn’t stay at the camp but did the lunch and 2 hour tour. Food was great! Also our historian guide was fabulous and we learned so much! I can’t remember her name but really enjoyed the lunch and tour.

Did a photography workshop there. Awesome place with so much history and beauty. They took great care of us during our stay and were great about a dietary restriction I have. Loved both the paddle tour and the history tour that was provided.
Staff are friendly and very helpful. They even killed as many of the lights as they could for our night sky photo shoot.
Really want to bring my wife back to see it on our next visit.
Jim Osborne — Google review
We visited this past weekend for a guided paddle around Sagamore Lake and also an afternoon historic tour of the property. We did not book lunch on the property but in the ticketing information and our confirmation email we read that "Lunch is not included, but you are welcome to bring your own to enjoy on Sagamore’s grounds."
Our paddle was from 9:30-11:30 and the historic tour was 1:30-3:30 so we had packed our lunch to enjoy on the property for that two hour gap between tours. However, after checking in for our paddle we headed down to the boat house and were stopped and questioned about what we were doing on the property and the interaction made us feel uneasy and unwelcomed even though we had paid for two separate tours that day. We hadn't even strayed from the main road that takes you from the Chalet to the Boat so its not like we were wandering the property.
We didn't even bother having lunch on the grounds and instead ate in the visitor parking lot (not on the grounds of the camp) out of our car by a DEC trailhead. My suggestion would be to either give paying visitors a wrist band or sticker so the employees can easily identify those of us "allowed" to be on the grounds or assign a designated lunch area for those who purchased a tour to enjoy our packed lunches.
Our guides were knowledgeable and lead great tours so I feel really bummed to say it but I wouldn't feel comfortable recommending the tours to my friends or family for fear they would have a similar experience.
A truly stunning campground. Great public swimming options, campsites are out of this world, and stunning vistas. Well kept up facilities and kind staff, but the size can be overwhelming. Don’t forget your map.

The scenery is breath taking. Really a spot to check out. Especially campsites 240 -260 sunset or sunrise. Campsites are on top of each other tho thats the only down fall in my opinion. Wish they were spread apart more.

Much better this year as there was no lifeguards so u could use floats and bring ur furry friends with u when u went to swim other years they are awful. Makes it hard on the dogs, kids, and my wife (who loves it there but says to just do what I'm told...I'm not made that way nor is that fun.)

Absolutely stunning campsite with views over the lake, especially stunning at night. Amazing area for hiking and exploring, and great for the whole family including dogs.
Would really suggest getting a site as close to the beach as possible, though if you're tent camping the choices seem much more limited.

I have camped at Moffitt Beach many times over the past 4 decades. This camping experience was a little “different” (summer 2021) as while we were here we went through one of the worst multi day storms with hale, tornados & torrential rain the Adirondacks had seen in a very, very long time. Although our campsite was 3.5 miles from the entrance (no cell, text or WiFi - Verizon network) I can honestly say we still had an awesome and memory filled mini vacation at this still very well maintained campground.
We stayed at site 253. It was a water site that was very private, in a sheltered cove on the lake that saw a lot of traffic (from a distance, didn’t affect privacy) from kayakers exploring the rocky cove and jumping out for a cooling swim in the pristine lake.
All the sites are well graded, and low hanging/lose branches are well cleared, so despite two days of torrential rain, winds & hail, we weren’t waterlogged. We car camped with a clamshell tent off the back of our SUV, as the sites are RV (no hook ups) or tent/car camping only. Water spigots are located nearby most campsites and we had two very nearby, along with the standard fire pit with grate and picnic table. Our bathrooms were located nearby & are still kept immaculately clean. Full flushes and sinks, a bank of 5 or so private shower stalls (full individual rooms with metal doors with seated changing area & free hot showers) that were also immaculate and and outdoor dish washing/cleanup station. As far as cleanliness, this campground never disappoints.
There is a well equipped camp store, although off high season hours are limited. Firewood & ice is available continually on an honor system payable via money box or smart phone link. Kayak and bike rentals are also available.
Moffitt has a beautiful, long stretch of clean, sandy beach and swimming, besides a boat launch. Rangers patrol the area in golf carts regularly. Generator hours are strict, so generator noise wasn’t really a nuisance. There are pavilions, grill areas and bathrooms near the beach and through the campground flushes & showers. Water sites are the “hot ticket” here, so they do book up well in advance. Plan accordingly. Many people come up to this campground every summer.
Moffitt is close to Charlie John’s general store where you can get just about anything from B food to gear, food offerings in town and all major roads in the area.
The one caveat to camping here is there are black bear. We didn’t see any this year, but I’ve had bear encounters here in prior years. The campground has a very strict policy regarding food & garbage handling as well as food lockers if you aren’t willing to store things in your car or RV & you can be evicted for not adhering to the policy, as the Adirondack park is home to over 4000 black bear, who aren’t particularly afraid of you. Bear spray during high season might be advisable if you are an über cautious sort. The wildlife are friendly (birds, chipmunks & squirrel to mama a few) and you might seem them in your backpack or in your table enjoying your meal with you. No fear. I personally enjoy that, but just be advised if you are a camping noob to this area…
Definitely will continue to return to this lovely and well maintained lakeside campground in the pines!

Sacandaga Lake is beautiful, and this is a great place to come and appreciate it. Found a fish hook in the lake, so be careful out there if you leave your site to swim. Not every bathroom has showers, and the bugs are brutal in early June, but it was still a good time. You really can't go wrong here.
Tom Wock — Google review
This is a beautiful campground with lots of sites with a view of Lake Sacandaga. We had to use leveling blocks for our class C motorhome at site 185. No hookups but water spigots intrspersed and a dump station. Camp store nearby and firewood available. We ate lunch at the Oxbow restaurant in Mt Pleasant and really liked the Irish nachos, local brewery beers and peanutbutter chocolate cheedsecake. This campground is not suitabdue for gigantic Class A RVs due to length limitations of sites and maneuvering on the winding, hilly park road. Great for kayakers and tent campers. We got a square of campfire wood for $10 along the park road. Little squirrels scamper around. Didn't see any bear. Checkin station was a bit congested. UnhookinUnhooking our towed car was a hassle due to narrow road at our campsite. It would have been better to unload the car at a bigger space had we known where to go for this.
Have been shopping at Charlie Johns my whole life! The selection is amazing and the customer service is truly outstanding! Love the new addition. So helpful to have so much under one roof! Keep up the amazing work!

Gage Harrnacker — Google review
I love Charlie Johns. It is a unique store. When you first enter the doors, you think it is your ordinary rural, local, grocery store, but as you go in further it becomes so much more then that. They have almost EVERYTHING! Like a giant convenient store/ book store/ sportsman's shop/ grocery store. The people are down-to-earth and if you give the store a good first impression, they will treat you like one of their own kinfolks. Each employee has a character of their own, and is always an experience to talk with them. The store has a time of itself. A mixture of modern and the good-ol-days. It reflex the nature and culture of Village of Speculator. Truly a must stop, but be prepared to buy more then intended. Ask the Deli about Garbage Bread. It is Delicious!!! Also always ask for a sales slip. The prices are a bit more then usual but the bargains are very good! Oh, and on the look out for Shaggy the Speculator Sasquatch and Adi the Adirondack Yeti. Rumor has it that they enjoy hanging out at Charlie Johns once in awhile. Always good to call ahead of time to see if they will be there. .

This place has everything… except kindness. Here with our two young kids to go camping, spent $140 on our groceries and tarps — you’re welcome — and overheard an elderly employee complaining about our kids. I said to my family: “it’s time to check out now.” And she said, behind my back, “ugh. please.” In an exasperated tone. You’re right. Our kids were a little bit intense. We’re also fellow human beings traveling in your town and trying our best. The kids didn’t hurt anything or anyone, yet you felt like othering us and like you could just be so wildly rude. Hello! I heard you! 👋
Clearly this offended me, and I felt like speaking up in the only way I can. Anyway… buyers with children… beware of judgy employees! I can only imagine how they’d treat a kid who was actually having a “moment.” 🤪

They had what I needed to get the job done. A small upcharge to have it locally, worth the savings in gas. Plumbing, hardware, fasteners, adhesives, blades, garden accessories. No tools or lumber. For small to medium jobs or emergency repairs or a quick fix, they have most of what you need and if they don’t, you can make it work.
J A — Google review
For this area its like a Walmart (in what they have, not the service) very friendly people. This is a legit super market, fresh fruit / frozen foods/ giant beer walkin. Great selection of anything you may need. Lots of camping gear. I come to this area every year and this place is a staple. If you need a real store, more than a country store, this is the place.
This is not a high waterfall, but is beautiful nonetheless, and is easy to get to. The water was still rushing when we went in late August, due to the volume of summer rain this year. There is a small parking area and parking available along the side of the road, and an easy walk to the falls. Picnic table there, but lots of places where you can simply sit on the rocks and have a picnic as well.
There is an outhouse at the site, but no formal bathrooms
Heather Von Allmen — Google review
This place is a great hidden gem, but you REALLY need to bring bug spray. There's a place to park on the side of the road, which is at the head of the short trail to the falls. There is at least one picnic table visible along that trail. The kids loved it, except for those pesky biting gnats. Probably just the time of year we visited, at the end of May. Worth a visit, even if it's only just for 5 minutes.
Stephen Werner — Google review
Nice little spot to stop off. I was actually on Forked Lake and the road runs right past the Falls so I stopped by on the way back. It’s like 100 feet from the road versus coming from the other side of the river hiking in so can’t really talk about the hike in. Spots to relax with good shade.
Will A. — Google review
I never want to hate on anything that is offered by nature. It's all beautiful in my opinion.
But this is a disappointing waterfall if you can even call it that. It's more like the Buttermilk Rapids. I feel a waterfall needs to defy gravity... Fall of a rock ledge or cliff... No matter how big or small it needs to defy gravity even for just a little bit.
With that said, this is still a nice place for a quick stop... You can feel the power of the rapids... The flow is pretty intense even in the dead of winter.
It's an easy pit stop or even a short hike for families.
ben l — Google review
Fun place to visit, a simple 5 minute "hike" from the road. We actually drove 45 minutes just to see it and well worth the time. It's more like raging rapids with a 50 foot drop. Fun place to explore. Make sure to visit all areas: upper, middle, lower. Each area is unique.
Troy Richards — Google review
It's very easy to find thanks to the signage. The walk to the falls is easy and it's cool to be able to get so close and feel the power of the water.

Adirondack Experience, The Museum on Blue Mountain Lake, showcases exhibits dedicated to the natural and cultural history of the region. The museum features interactive areas for children to engage with as well. Visitors can take advantage of the trails leading to the boathouse where they can enjoy canoeing or guide boating without any charge. Although warned against taking the blue trail, it is still manageable and more interesting according to some visitors. The staff is helpful, knowledgeable and friendly throughout the museum.
We stopped by as we were staying in Saranac lake. This is a nice. Museum that teaches you the history of the Adirondacks and its people. We went through each building and enjoyed all the history. We ate at the Cafe for warm food on a cool wet day. Definitely recommend stopping if you are in the area.

Awesome place to tour and learn about important aspects of Adirondack history! The grounds are gorgeous and provide a good, gentle hike if you're looking for that. Many buildings are accessible though, if a brisk uphill walk isn't what you're looking for.
Explore the history of fire towers and logging, learn about the environmental and social impacts of industry in the mountains, take a deep dive into the ancient and modern cultural importance of the region.
Kate Howard — Google review
I would plan on 4-5 hours when you take a trip to this wonderful attraction. So many displays covering the history and culture of the Adirondack Region. Views overlooking the lake are spectacular. The museum has a brand new permanent exhibit - Artists and Inspiration in the Wild. This includes four main galleries highlighting natural features of the area; light, forests, water, and mountains, which serve as inspiration to painters, sculptors, and expert artisians. Try out the cafe when you go, the food is great and you can eat outside, with the lake views all around.
Theresa St. John — Google review
Our family spent a delightful four hours here. The staff was helpful, knowledgeable, and friendly. The exhibits had a good variety of things to read, things to look at, and things to touch. Be sure to take one of the trails to the boathouse to try out a canoe or guide boat. (At least when we were there, there was no charge for taking out a boat) The staff and a lot of signs will vehemently warn you against taking the blue trail, but it is really very manageable and (in my opinion) more interesting, so don't let them scare you away.

Kid Friendly like no other museum!!! They have kids activities everywhere which also means the parents can read the cool info while the kids are playing. We travel full time and go to lots of museums and I've never seen a museum with so many things for kids to do and those things aren't tucked away in a corner but right along side the exhibits. They also have books everywhere that you can read to your kids or get great ideas on outdoor life type books. Absolutely loved this.

The museum has been updated since my last visit. All the in depth exhibits plus some new features, including a gorgeous dining room with a spectacular view of Blue Mountain Lake from the veranda. Don't miss the taxidermy exhibit, which is very strange indeed. A great place for kids to learn how special the Adirondacks Park has always been.

Excellent museum for adults and kids alike! From games and art to interactive activities, such as a take home self made stamped ornament, and full sized rail cars to amazing and spectacular outdoor campus and views, this is not your average museum. Set in the Beautiful Adirondack Mountains, you'll find friendly, thoughtful, passionate workers to help guide or educate you further on things you see, if you like. The admission price is a steal!

Amazing museum around Central Adirondack. You can spend the whole day their different attractions and exhibitions. Staffs were helpful and friendly. Your whole day will fly by here. You might even want to spend 2 days here! They have so many things to watch, read, play, do, and interact with. It’s got something for all ages. There are many exhibits and fun things to do and see. The cafe is good too.
My favorite part was getting to take a boat out onto their “pond” for free! It was so beautiful and peaceful! The pond is gorgeous and had no one else on it! Not a single house or structure of any kind. It was like a movie scene.

Loved the Adrondrack Experience.
Great to navigate with the electric scooter they provided. They also have wheelchairs. Beautiful setting. It's like the Smithsonian or the Metropolitan Museum of Art but focused on the Adrondrack Art, History, Industrial & Tech Development, People of the Adrondrack Mountains, and it is an experience. The interpreters are wonderful. The exhibition many are interactive & you do experience the art, culture, and natural history.

Adirondack Experience is my favourite museum. I spent there 3 hours and it still wasn't enough time to see everything. Theme exhibitons were very interesting, my favourite one was luxury train located in main visitors building. The second one was Bull's cabin lodge.
The stuff was extremely helpful, especially ladies in the main lobby.

Best way to spend a rainy day in the Adirondacks. Wide array of artifacts to help visitors learn about the area. Exhibits are organized by different topics. Our favorite was the art exhibit. We spent about 3.5 hours and did everything but the boathouse.
Great selection of novelties gifts, clothing and seasonal apparel. Many camping, fishing including bait, and outdoor supplies. Last minute groceries.

We stopped by this place because of the reviews on Google. It has the highest rating of any restaurant or eatery from massena to Potsdam and Malone.I got to say it was the best fish fry I've had in years. Nice big portion of beer battered haddock. That was fried to perfection, nice and crispy on the outside moist and flaky on in. It came with two sides out of choices of many I picked the french fries and also the homemade macaroni and cheese.my wife end up getting an order of macaroni and cheese too and we both said it was the best we've ever had. Since then we've been back and most likely it will become a every week ritual.
The only thing that's against the cedar Lodge is location. But it was meant for a establishment 4 snowmobilers and also ATV enthusiast. But what it lacks in that it makes up for in the homemade food.
I've tried a lot of local places for a haddock fish fry and this was the best!!!

I had the incredible opportunity to experience whitewater rafting with Adirondac Rafting Co., and it was nothing short of epic. Nestled in the heart of the Adirondacks, between Lake Placid and Lake George, this adventure became the highlight of our friend's wedding weekend. As a unique way to bond and kick off the celebrations, their wedding party decided to take on the wild and scenic Upper Hudson River Gorge together. Covering 15 miles of exhilarating whitewater fun through pristine wilderness, it was an experience we'll never forget.
From the moment we arrived, the team at Adirondac Rafting Co. made us feel right at home. Their guides (and my friends also guides) are not just skilled; they're the cream of the crop in the industry, having a reputation for winning the Adirondack Guide Olympics. The rafts and equipment were top-notch, ensuring our safety and comfort throughout the adventure. Plus, the variety of raft sizes meant our group was perfectly accommodated, regardless of the river level that day.
The journey itself was a thrilling blend of adrenaline-pumping rapids and serene moments where we could soak in the beauty of the Adirondacks. Halfway through, we stopped for a delicious riverside lunch, which was a much-needed break to relax and just enjoy the surroundings. The guide kept us entertained with stories and ensured that everyone, from first-timers to thrill-seekers, had a memorable time.
Booking the trip was a breeze, with no hidden fees and straightforward communication from the company. Their location at 6440 Rt 30, Indian Lake, NY, was convenient for us and added a scenic drive to our adventure. For anyone looking to add a dash of adventure to their Adirondack visit, whether it's a family trip, a gathering of friends, or even a wedding party like ours, I can't recommend Adirondac Rafting Co. enough. The combination of skilled guides, quality equipment, and breathtaking scenery made for an epic adventure that was the perfect start to our wedding celebration

Everything about this experience was great for me and my family. The Hudson River Gorge in summer is amazing - the rapids are a ton of fun, but not so wild that it's scary and unsafe for the younger kids (we had an 11yo and a 9yo among the riders in our boat). Our guide was awesome - almost two decades of experience, very competent and serious about safety, yet still able to relax with us and help everyone have a great time. I would absolutely use these folks again for another trip.

Our initial impression arriving to the base with Brad and Hudson really set the tone for our day. He was welcoming and fun, matched our energy and was very knowledgeable. Our guide Matt was just incredible. Right from meeting him he was enthusiastic, funny, knowledgeable, and you could just tell that he loves his job. I was thrown from the raft in a brutal rapid and into boulders (I'd still do it a million times, i was just lucky enough to get the full experience) and he very literally saved my life by staying calm, collected, instructing my family with what to do and pulling me in to safety. He told us jokes, trivia, educated us about the geography and history of the river, and made us a great team. I would request him every time and recommend ADK Rafting Co to anyone.

Raquette River Brewing is a perfect spot to savor a cold beer while soaking in the stunning views of the Adirondack Mountains. The brewery offers a delightful ambiance for hanging out with friends, such as during Trivia Night, where you can enjoy some laughs and friendly competition. Christielee does an excellent job orchestrating the games, adding to the fun atmosphere. It's also an ideal place to grab a delicious meal along with your freshly brewed beer.
A group of us went out to play Wednesday night, "Game Night," at the Brewery. What fun! Friendly people, drinks, and lots of laughs playing the game. The hard-working bartender was incredible and smiled all night. She's fabulous. There's also a new food truck, and the choices and food are terrific. The pizza truck is also open for business as well, and their pizza is great. Make this place a fun night out on your calendar. Of course, we all went to the Brewery for a bite to eat after the eclipse event. Everything was great.

Really like this place. We make it a point to stop here when we are in this part of the Adirondacks. Actually we went out of our way to get here last time. Beer is good and so are the food options which should offer something for everyone. They have a nice outdoor area with covered sections, sun sections, and fire pits (which I could be wrong but I believe you can start a fire if there isn't one burning). What I really like is because they use food trucks and don't technically have food on premises, dogs are welcome indoors as well. We haven't sat indoors yet but it's such a nice option in bad weather or the cooler times of the year.
Also a really big fan of the QR code ordering. Allows you to relax and not make trips to the bar for refills.

We really enjoyed with the Black IPA and the Red IPA. They had a large variety of beers that you don’t see very often on the east coast. The cabin vibe is warm and welcoming and they have a lot of fun merch. I highly recommend stopping by if you’re in that neck of the woods!

Came in for some beers and was super happy. There's a very chill vibe here and it's Adirondack through and through.
The vibe is definitely cabin in the woods feel.
They had 3 food trucks the day we came and I believe the have at least one all the time. So while they don't serve their own food - they always have it on site.
Our server was very friendly and knew their beers well. Great experience. I’ll be back!

Pretty great service for how busy they were upon arrival. Scan QR code at your table to start ordering process. Skips the line and wait at the bar and drinks served right to your table within minutes. You can of course also order the old fashioned way by going up to the bar and waiting in line but be warned you will wait longer. Fabulous food trucks outside to satisfy you appetite after a few cocktails. Order outside and receive a buzzer to notify when pickup is available. Eating IS allowed inside the building also. Annual Christmas event with Santa and tree decorating was fun and family friendly. Highly recommend this place, I even bought a Sasquatch T-shirt.

I used to live across the street from the brewery when it all started out. The parking was a nuisance but they corrected it by demolishing the house across the street from my childhood house. There are at least 2 food trucks depending on the seasons to accommodate dining while enjoying their experimental draft beverages. It is kid & family friendly but the full experience is for those 21+. The pizza is healthy not greasy at all.

Amazing place! Love their pizza, beer and cocktail!
There are truly dark skies here in Tupper Lake, Fellow imagers, and I enjoyed Bortle 3-4 skies. The facility has a warming room and a bathroom attached to a roll off roof. It's a great place for the amature astronomer!

I have only been here twice in my life. They have state of the ark technology that’s accessible in the area. The microscopes make it difficult to see the planets from my experience they were a little small hard to see. The men running it are the most sophisticated people you’ll meet in the area. I took a field trip there during high school when it was still in development. Was impressed by the architecture then positioning of the place to be able to sky watch.

The observatory had telescopes out, and you could see Jupiter and Saturn. We went into a field, and an astronomer was pointing out various things. Got to see shooting stars...Perseus meteor shower. Very interesting! Beautiful night.

Wow! What a thrilling experience we had attending a Friday night sky viewing. The organizers were all extremely helpful and friendly, and the astronomer made understanding the stars, planets and nebulas fun. We were able to see the ring nebula, Saturn and its rings, a view of Jupiter and it's moons, and a binary star system through the telescope. They had the field viewing area outlined with red lights which made the ambience so serene and beautiful while gazing at the stars and constellations. We very much enjoyed some of the Greek mythology that accompanies many constellations that the astronomer outlined for all of us. It was a blast for me as an adult so it must be absolutely magical for kids. If you live in the area or are here on vacation looking for something to top off your day of adventure in the Adirondacks, this is a must go! Thank you again to everyone at the sky center for putting this together!!

Knowledgeable and friendly. The storm came in but we drove from an hour away (even further from home) and we still got as much of the grand tour as possible on their Free Friday! We are so excited to go back, especially once they get their funding to complete the upgrades! Hopefully the weather will cooperate!

We drove a few hours to attend an advertised event at this location and arrived a few hours early. No one was at the observatory to welcome all the people that were waiting for the event to start. Many cars full of people were waiting in the parking lot and many got mad that no one was at the observatory, their was no message on FB event page to show if event had been cancelled...about 5 car loads waited for over an hour... Ileft review of our disappointment on their fb event page and people that work at the observatory blamed me, blamed all the disappointed visitors with strange accusations and statements that they don't get paid to show up for public advertised events nor to provide public access to the observatory anyway. Very disappointing experience in so many ways.

very unpleasant experience for many families that drove more than 5 hours to attend an event --- only to find out the event was cancelled at last minute. its in a forest with very little sky showing overhead. very loud campers next door were drinking, partying loud and spinning their motorboat in the water with no lights. not a good experience at all.

My favorite place to go on a clear night. We live 2.5 hours away but make the trip when it's going to be clear. Well worth the drive and the instructors there are very informative which makes for an even better time.
Live animals, hands-on exhibits & forest trails connect guests with the Adirondacks.
This place is amazing for all ages. So much to do. The trails through the forest are well groomed. The trail with speakers that are playing instrumental music is a really cool idea. The wild walk where you are up in the tree tops gives you a very beautiful view, especially in the fall during peak. I will definitely go back and have already suggested this destination to many friends.

Definitely a cool place to visit with some great things to see both indoors and out. They had some real nice trails leading down to the water where you’d swear you were the only people for 100 miles. My only disappointment was all the empty bird feeders along the trails so we saw very little wildlife. There were many feeding stations but they were all empty. The high catwalk thing was cool and has some nice viewing points. We saw a couple of squirrels and a few ducks but no other birds or wildlife which was disappointing.

I liked this place alot. It has some trails to walk and see a river. The walkway to the "bird's nest" is not too long and there are some bridges in between the decks that you can cross. This is a great place to take children. The museum area was filled with fun educational information. We got to see otters and other creatures that live in the water. We also had the chance to see an owl. There's a snack bar and an area outside where you can sit, eat & enjoy nature. I am glad I went . Highly recommended!

A beautiful adventure I hadn't been to in years. Fair pricing, wide variety of activities for all ages and skill levels, there's movies playing, and a delightful cafe.
Above all bring bug spray and or don't wear shorts. Sandals are also not a good idea.

This is a wonderful family attraction with displays inside and outside. Great learning experiences revolving around agriculture, eco-systems, mother nature. I loved it. Outdoor trails are peaceful, eagle's nest is a must, super cool time.

I have wanted to go here for years and it did not disappoint! There are very informative indoor exhibits that are hands on and very interesting to look at and learn about. There are also some hiking trails with lovely views of the river and also an outdoor playground made of only natural things like hollowed out trees. The thing I was most excited about though was the Wild Walk. It is a lot of fun! The spider web is fun to play on, even for adults. Going up to the eagle's nest gives you awesome views of the area. Down below it tells you which mountains you are looking at from all sides. There is also a giant hollowed out tree to go through and several walkways and bridges. We all had a great time and I would highly recommend it!

We recently visited with our 4 year old and had a great time! Great mix of indoor and outdoor activities, and we easily spent the whole day there. The highlight for my daughter was the spider web! Took off a star as I wish they didn't have animals held in captivity.
Laura Herchel — Google review
We had lot of fun as two adults. I didn't have enough time to do everything I wanted; I would recommend going more than once if you want to see and do everything. The staff is very knowledgeable, especially in the animal encounter events. I would recommend going on a weekday if you want it to be a bit quieter- there were a lot of people there and at points it got really bothersome.
The food was good! The prepackaged food was very reasonably priced (cheaper than gas station prices). For the cooked food, I paid $5 for a cup of chili and $7 for a wrap, which is about what you pay when you go somewhere like a convience store. I would recommend it- I liked the food a lot! They just didn't have a huge selection.
All in all if you like nature and the Adirondacks, you should go if you're in the area. If you live in the area and you haven't gone yet, what are you waiting for?

So much fun! We took our 1 year old and he was able to walk around and explore. He had a blast and so did us adults. Indoor exhibits from animals, and ecosystems to agriculture and more. Outdoor trails and the wild walk trail were well kept. The spider web was a big hit for the kids. Great attraction for families.

Lovely spot to visit. The inside exhibits were very nice & I'm sure more interactive when it's not a pandemic. Outdoors was the best, though. The Treehouse & walkway are absolutely amazing. The walk to the river is easy & worth the short hike. The musical/sculptural exhibit in the woods was magical - even in the rain. Wish I had been able to see the otters, but animals are finicky. Worth the drive.

We had the best time at The Wild Center! We were a groups of 8, 4 adults and 4 kids ages 1-6 and there was something to keep them all engaged. We explored everything we possibly could and spent hours there! Staff were all extremely friendly and offered to answer any questions when they passed by. We were excited to see the otters and enjoyed the outdoor play areas. The spider web could use some repairs, otherwise everything was great!

What an incredible museum! The habitat exhibits are so cool for kids (and big kids) to prowl around in, but I was particularly impressed with the dedication to making the entire space interactive. The observation hive was especially cool to see, and despite being a grown man, I stuffed myself in the otter observation log like a 5 year old (The otters obliged me and came over to say hello).

This place was sooo cool!! Went with an adult group of friends at night for The Wild Walk (day before New Years Eve). A lighted walk through the trails and the museum center was open to see the exhibits as well. First let me say I have visited plenty of eco-centers, natural history museums and zoo’s and this site has it all. It was perfect for families and friends off all ages. We saw young families, active adults, and family with teens and it seemed to be enjoyed at all levels (of course if you’re not into nature, it might not be your thing…. But it could also be the place that converts you to a nature lover). The displays were very interactive and could be enjoyed by all levels. The animal and plant exhibit were extremely well done. Trails and walkways were great for all levels and plenty of fun things for kids from 1-89 😊 to enjoy. Can’t wait to go back in the summer or fall during the day light hours to enjoy some of the longer trails.

Friendly, courteous, historical in-depth knowledge of Gore Mountain garnet mines. Well stocked selection of minerals and rocks. Very helpful. Search for your own garnet in a closed open pit mine on summer daily 2 hour guided tour. Pay for tour. And pay per ounce for what you find and keep. In store settings available. After Labor Day open only on Saturday and Sundays. Season ends on or about Columbus day.

It was a wonderful experience for my family and very different from our previous rafting experience at Poconos.. Our guide was an expert rafter. Thank you, Andrew. He made it so much fun for my family.. My daughters loved swimming when the water became gentle, they got to jump from a rock and we got to spin our raft 6 times in one of the section and he made sure we all were safe during the trip. So much fun. Please book your trip with Beaver Brook outfitters, you will not regret it.

I’ve been down the Hudson several times. This was my second trip w Beaver Brook. Not only are they awesome Guides! They're just a bunch of really nice people! Cookies at the end of the ride were just what our boys needed after an awesome run!
Today was special. I organized my sons Scout troop’s first Hudson Rafting trip. They’re all inclusive pricing cuts out some of the aggravation we’ve dealt w on other river trips. And make planning for large group much easier.
Also worth mentioning. At the end of your trip it’s a quick 5 minute dripping wet bus ride back to your change of clothes.

This was our third trip with the Burns Gang and Beaver Brook Outfitters and they always do a great job. We had 4 rookies who had never rafted before and we had to raft the lower part of the Hudson due to the 2+ inches of rain we received 36 hours before the trip. The Hudson was running high and fast and it was a wild ride and lots of fun. I highly recommend Beaver Brook if you are going to be in the area and want to go rafting.

OMGX1000 These guys are absolutely AMAZING! I was lucky enough to meet them with a large travel group I was with. We joined them for a kayak trip to the 13th Lake and it was so very awesome! Not only were Pete and Cassandra most excellent hosts, they were kind and fun and told great stories and anecdotes about the area throughout the day. If you are traveling to this area of NY (which if you haven't ever, you definitely SHOULD) this is the group to book your day(s) of adventure with. I can't explain by words what a amazing experience I've had this morning. This is my first time rail biking on the Adirondack. The ride was along Hudson river and scenery is extraordinary. Fall added an extra spice for the beauty. It was 8-10AM ride and staff are helpful and informative. The bike is easy to ride even seniors can do it easily. Some people ride alone. For details; pricing and location, check on their websites. I will definitely do this again.

An amazing an experience and something completely new for me and my family. The scenery was beautiful, the staff was pleasant and fun. While we all went out as a group, the way we were able to space ourselves from the other members of our group made it, like it was our own excursion. Definitely recommend this to anyone who is near Lake George or North Creek. The bikes were easy to peddle and with everyone working together (my family consisted of 4) we peddled the entire 7 miles with little effort. Thank you Revolution Rail Co, stay awesome!

Revolution Rail Co. is an incredible experience! We did the North Bridge Run in the Adirondack forest in NY. The trip through the forest was great, and the views were breathtaking. There were groups of all ages. You need to take a short bus ride to the launch site. For this trip, it is out and back. Once you get to the Boreas River, you stop and take about a 20-minute rest. During the break, you can use the outhouse, very rustic, enjoy the river, or sit at the picnic tables and snack. The bikes have a basket for belongings or water but definitely only bring absolute necessities. The bikes are inspected daily, and the conductors are very knowledgeable about the area. The conductors took our picture with our phone at two different sites so we can remember the trip. Highly recommend making a reservation! We definitely would do it again!

What a cool experience! You bike on a rail track and see the foliage and river. You get to the end and get a break. They run rain or shine. It rained on us and it was still a cool experience. I recommend taking a poncho or waterproof pants and a jacket. They provide umbrellas but it doesn’t help. I highly recommend trying to get the very front or very back because you get an unobstructed view.

I did this excursion in Cape May with my adult son August 2021 and we both enjoyed it a great deal. The staff was very helpful and informative. The rail line in Cape May was only about two miles out then two back so I wish it was a little longer but that’s all that’s available due to a swing bridge that is no longer operational. The scenery is fantastic as you traverse over marshes, a bridge and past the Garret Family Preserve, which you have about 20 to 30 minutes to tour. If you enjoy railroad history this is a great way to travel the old abandoned line and take in some beautiful scenery.

This was such a fun outdoor experience. It was great to be outside, exercising (without feeling it), connecting with nature, history, and the company on your rail cart. The views were beautiful. The carts were well maintained, way to pedal and our guides/staff members were very friendly. It was cold when we went and I would suggest layers to all future guests. When it is windy... It is windy. Hats, gloves, scarves, jackets....I would layer! Also there is a basket on each of the carts so bringing water and snacks is a good idea if you're interested. There is no alcohol allowed... And also no bathroom for the time you are out on the trail so gauge your beverage intake accordingly! I would definitely go back and do the other trail. Enjoy!

10/10 highly recommend! My husband and I booked the South River Run route in North Creek, NY several days in advance. On our scheduled date, we arrived about an hour and half early because we were worried with the forecast showing storms that our booking would be canceled. We asked if we could change our 3PM scheduled booking to 2PM due to the forecast, which the staff easily changed for us with no issue. With changing the time, we were also switched to the North Bridge Run route, which was fine with us. Our group ended up being just us, another couple, and our guide, which was really nice because it allowed us space to spread out and enjoy the wooded scenery and the river! The ride was fun and not too strenuous! The pace was good, and we got to take a short break in the middle and see where the 2 rivers meet while the guide told us the logging industry history. Overall, it was a fun, unique experience! They also have a cute gift shop on site as well!

I can't say enough about this excursion. It was a beautiful ride through woods and near the river. Loved the trestle bridge, breathtaking views! It was the perfect point to turn bikes around so we could take a potty break and meander down to the river. So pretty! The ride back was easier on the legs/knees since it was downhill (1% grade to Trestle Bridge). The staff made the trip for me because they were so friendly and informative. Rich was very engaging with us and even suggested other points/lunch in area. The museum was very neat as well as caboose car when we got back to train station. One other note, it is a great idea to have different games around to play while waiting for the bus and instructions at the start. Thank you for the wonderful time!

We had a great time on the rail bikes out of North Creek! We had booked the earliest "long" ride, and ended up going about 14.5 miles(according to my Garmin). I think because it was the earliest slot on a week day, we had a non-typical trip, as it was just us and the guides. The guides led on the way down, and we led on the way back. It was really beautiful to ride along the Hudson, and it was a workout too! You could feel when the incline changed. There's a basket to hold your things, but if you want to keep your phone close and safe, I'd recommend a zip up pocket or waist pack. This was a neat and different thing to do!

We had a great experience with the staff and services at the VIC. I was organizing a group of active seniors through Will Rogers, our local independent living community. We took horse drawn sleigh rides and had a picnic lunch. It was marvelous!

Had a great time walking the very-easy Boreal Trail with the family this week. Not even our 4-year old was tuckered out by the end, that's how easy of a loop it was. And yet beautiful! Afterwards, we grilled Hot Dogs at the grills near the parking lot. Note: the VIC building is closed. There are portapotties outside and NYS sanitizer, but no water for the winter. Just so you plan appropriately. Enjoy!
Awesome place! Very cool talking to the employees who are volunteers giving their time & knowledge of the area & of the absolutely Priceless animal carvings that make up the ride! As an amateur, woodworker myself, I truly mean priceless. They are amazing Word that must’ve taken hours to create. It was explained to us that every piece was hand carved, then painted then delivered onsite 100% free of charge by local artists! The whole carousel was donated!
Each animal has details that really make them one of a kind masterpieces! My daughter is a “carousel aficionado” at age 3 going on 30 fell in love with 1 & made sure she told everyone for the next 3 days that it was her favorite favorite! A Linx Coincidental & appropriately named “Moonlight” a beautifully stunning carving (with a bunny in a lunchbox In my opinion) Yes, I failed to mention that each carving was given a name & has a back story with their very own coloring sheet that was given free of charge at the arts & crafts table which itself is next to the puzzle table (my wife's favorite part) a gift shop & outdoor playground makes this a must visit spot if you are staying in the area or just passing through! I highly recommend stopping by to see this place with your kids or just to lay your eyes on a hidden work of art that otherwise you may have never known was there!
Side note:
(my favorite was Ranger! A Toolbelt toting trash panda (raccoon) who may just be my spirt animal!)

They charge for kids under 2.....very very much a money grab place, unfortunately. Especially when a birthday party was going on for my niece but it ended 30 mins prior (apparently) so, no free rides after 'specific time' But for 200 bucks!!! you'd think she'd have gotten the whole day not just a few hours...that's just crazy to me.

This was absolutely perfect for a summer day! The people running the carousel were great. Snacks and bathrooms were available. They also had a arts and crafts table for the kids to enjoy at no charge.

What a cute little place for the little kiddos to enjoy! We first enjoyed the playground while we waited for the carousel to open. My 3 and 5 year old thoroughly enjoyed their time! The lady at the counter was very friendly and helped us out. And the gentleman Manning the carousel was just as nice. My girls took the ride 6x's and it was definitely well worth it. We also appreciated the free coloring and animal mask making station.

we visit here this pass 4th of july. not much was going on in the town and not too many people were out and about. which was surprising to me. we came across here and i love older carousels. this one was a little smaller than i expected but very nice and well care for. my 14 year old like the area but wasn't into it. but all the younger kids were having a blast. my wife and i had couldn't pass up a ride. tho it was a little short we enjoyed being a kid once again. it was a nice touch the put out watermelon and cookies for their guest. they do have a small selection of drinks to purchase but my wife and son were looking for some cotton candy, popcorn or hot dogs to snack on. the gift shop was ok but i was thinking since the carousel in the main attraction. maybe it would be nice to have more of a carnival theme like carnival food, music and carousel items to buy in the gift shop. all in all the park grounds are big enough for kids to run around safely and keep clean. the carousel is nice, bathroom are clean and the staff was friendly. a good place to have some fun with your kids. more small town should have a place like this.

Beautiful and unique carousel with all local animals. My children (2,5) loved picking which animal to sit on, and looking for the ladybug on each. The staff were all friendly and knowledgeable. We also enjoyed a few minutes at the coloring table. A really great stop and we'll visit when we're in the area again.

My son and I were camping at Meachem Lake near by. We came to Saranac to check it out. The carousel and surrounding displays were fun but the whole place seemed really static and sleepy. That may be because there were no people there when we got there but it was a weekend day. The carousel was cool. They have animals in it from the area...ALL the animals...including black flies, lol! For any of you who aren't familiar, black flies are the scourge from hell and folks in the area have learned to have a healthy sense of humor about them.

This is a great carousel with all the different hand sculpted animals to ride on makes it very unique. It was very reasonably priced too. The people who ran the carousel were very knowledgeable and eager to answer questions. A must see if you are in the Saranac Lake area.

The Lake Placid Winter Olympic Museum is a sports museum located at 2634 Main Street, Lake Placid, NY 12946. It commemorates the Winter Olympics of 1932 and 1980 and features historical memorabilia related to events such as hockey, skating, and curling. Visitors can participate in various activities including a bobsled experience and public ice skating. The museum currently has a free exhibit open until construction finishes later this year.
More of an anticipatory 5-star rating than a current 5-star. I imagine that this museum will be something else when they finish, and I look forward to coming back. In the meantime, you can still see some pretty cool artifacts in the free exhibit they have open until construction is finished later this year.

The Lake Placid Olympic Museum is a small museum that packs a big punch. The museum does a great job capturing the history of both the 1932 and 1980 Winter Olympic Games that were held in Lake Placid. There are several artifacts from both Winter Olympics in the museum.
Some of the coolest items in the museum include Olympic medals from several different Olympic games, Olympic pins, Olympic athlete uniforms, a bobsled simulator, and hockey gear from the 1932 games. The greatest of all items in the museum is definitely the hockey equipment from the 1980 Miracle On Ice Team. Near the “Miracle on Ice” team’s equipment is a silver medal given to the Soviet team that lost that year. Apparently, it was just left behind and no one ever claimed it. No one knows who it belongs to. The film on the 1980 US hockey team is also very good.
Be sure to see the descriptive panels for the items in the museum, they are very well put together. After going through the museum make sure to see the Olympic speed skating track and Olympic hockey rink. The view from the restaurant and porch area of the Olympic center is one of the best in the village of Lake Placid.
The museum is a must see for anyone visiting Lake Placid.

Nice museum. We learned a lot about the Olympics that took place in Lake Placid. There were some fun interactive things for the kids to do. It took us about 1 hour to get through the museum and we read almost everything. Our kids ages 5 and 7 enjoyed it and stayed engaged but they love museums and history.
To give it 5 stars it would be to lower the price for children. I understand the adult price and it’s not just here, it’s most places but I think children even up to age 16 should be given a much bigger discount. They’re always accompanied by adults who are paying full price and I think the cost can deter a lot of ppl with larger families and denies them the opportunity to educate their children on these unique experiences because it gets expensive.

Enjoyed visiting this Olympic museum. It’s also a great opportunity to see the stadium’s that were part of US Olympic history.
Totally worth it. Recommend it to anyone visiting Lake Placid.

As a family we really enjoyed this museum. My kids 14, 10 were not too familiar with what took place and the significance of 1980 Lake Placid. After visiting the museum though it sparked an interest and they both were eager to learn about it. We also enjoyed all the torches, medals, and Olympic garments. Overall we enjoyed our experience and if you are interested in sports or American history this a nice little place to visit.

Pretty cool place. Only downside is they don't have much if any skeleton athletes and merchandise!! I'm an adrenaline junkie and think that sport is amazing... wish it had better representation at the museum.

Not too much to see, but interesting. And we'll priced if you could see the ice rinks (in 2021 closed for construction) definitely if you need to choose, go to the ski jumps just down the road a few miles. (Unless you are scared of heights...) Lake placid is still an interesting mountain town. Worth a look. Then go watch Miracle on ice...

Small but interesting Olympic Museum focused mainly on the 1980 Lake Placid games. There is a video about the hockey win. Note that you can visit both the 1932 and 1980 hockey rinks for free, separate from the museum tour.

Fun and interesting activity to do in Lake Placid. It’s located in the center of the small town, just across mirror lake so it’s nice to just walk around. The view from the second floor is very impressive, you can see all the mountains. The exposition is in a quite small room but it’s nicely divided into sections. Great visual and interesting facts. It takes between 45 minutes and 1h15 if you read everything. It would be interesting to offer the audio tour too.

Small museum covering the history of the 2 Winter Olympics that occurred here. It has a good amount of information and I really enjoyed the interactive displays. They have a nice collection of winter Olympic posters and pins, which provided a great feeling of nostalgia. Their short documentary about the 1980 Miracle on Ice hockey game was very well done, so definitely make sure to check that out.

The Lake Placid Olympic Museum was a very interesting place to visit. It has much memorabilia from the 1932 and 1980 Olympics as well as other years. It was smaller than I expected, but perfect size for me as I did not want to spend an entire day.
We also saw the ice rinks, which as a hockey fan was pretty cool!
It took us about 1 1/2 to 2 hours for our visit.
The Lake Placid Olympic Ski Jumping Complex is a popular tourist attraction that offers visitors the chance to experience what Olympic ski jumpers see. It features elevators and lifts that provide a panoramic view of the Adirondacks from atop the 120 Meter jump, which can be accessed via a catwalk. This unique experience is made even more special by the friendly and helpful staff who operate on holidays like Labor Day.
This was so cool. We took skyride to top. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Once you get off you walk to the 120 Meter jump. There's an elevator to take you to the top. Once up in jump you walk out onto a catwalk and you see where Olympians would go down the jump.
You have to be crazy to do this I have so much more respect for these skiers. It is amazing the height there actually going down.
Def visit here if your in area.

The Lake Placid Olympic Ski Jumping Complex is a great place to spend a few hours! The view from the top of the surrounding Adirondack Mountains is spectacular. On top of that you can see ski jumpers in action.
You can purchase tickets online and skip the lines inside. Once you have your ticket you can ride the gondola to the base of the ski jumping towers. From here there are platforms to watch the ski jumpers go down the jumps and fly off into the air.
After that you take an elevator ride to the top of the towers. From here you can look down and see what it’s like to be a ski jumper. The view from the starting point of the jump is amazing.
The views of the surrounding area at the base and top are both great. The staff was helpful and let everyone know where the best views were. It’s also amazing that you might see an Olympian or future Olympian walk right by when you’re here. A can’t miss in Lake Placid!

Awesome and awe inspiring to see how Olympic Ski Jumpers hone their craft! I don't consider myself afraid of heights, but looking down that ski jump in the windy open air gives you a new appreciation for the fear they must overcome!

Really cool place! It’s a nice experience to get to see what the athletes experience right before their jumps. The view from up there is stunning and makes great & memorable pictures! The staff on-site were all super friendly & welcoming. Plan about 45 minutes to one hour for the entire visit.

This was so fun. Even though it was a cool June day we were able to ride the gondola up the hill and then an elevator to the top of the big jump. This was a $20 for a ticket aged 13 and up. The cool thing is you can go up and down as much as you would like. If you want to watch from below you can without riding up, but the ride up is a great view. We got to see Olympic hopefuls practicing on this Saturday up close and personal. We even ride up with one young man, shout out to Duncan.
Dean Dykstra — Google review
This site was very impressive in person. Worth the trip to see. The gondola ride to the jumps was closed the day we visited so we had to drive a short distance down the road to see them up close. We were handed a sliver of paper with "directions," but they were incomplete. "Turn left at the top of the hill" does not explain that after you turn left, you will then turn right in about 200' and follow the road up to the parking lot. Nothing was marked, so we had to u-turn and take a chance making that right turn... as did others we spoke to. I say taking a chance because there were also long driveways along the road, and we weren't sure if we were turning onto a road or into someone's driveway. The 26-storey elevator ride up the jump was impressive, 37 seconds in duration, and very little wait time to go up or down. Very polite staff. Suitable for children. The lookout platforms on the jump are fenced in and have plexiglass also.

Excellent family visit on Labor day 2021. The elevator ride to the top of the "big slide" was open as well as the gift shop. Very unique experience to see what Olympic ski jumpers see. A big thank you to the workers who worked on a holiday so we could see this Lake Placid icon.

We stopped here on our way out of Lake Placid and only did it because people in town said we should. It turned out to be one of the best parts of the trip! The views on the top of the jumps were incredible and they even had kids practicing on the jumps that we were able to watch.

Amazing Olympic venue! You have to do the gondola ride and elevator to the top of the ski jump. I believe it's 26 stories tall. The views are incredible. The notion that people ski jump off of these ramps is crazy. We love our athletes. Go USA!!!
Andrew & Mary Babiak — Google review
We had the Olympic Venue Passport, so took the tour. Henry, Tate and Evan lead it and did a great job explaining the jumping events, their differences and equipment. Took the gondola up and then elevator to the top of the jump take-off platform. Incredible views and respect for these athletes. At the end of the tour, Evan did an exhibition jump while we stood on the coaches deck.
We returned on Tuesday to watch 4 of the athletes have training jumps from 10-11:30. There were also younger kids doing aerial practice into the pool. Really cool experience at all of the venues. These guys need more support. They are self funded.

Very cool experience. Came in the summer so got to see kids training and jumping into the pool. Didn’t take the lift up to the top, didn’t feel it was worth the money. Got to see a better view at whiteface summit and spend the money on that.
But you can see these cool structures up close!
Alesya Yanez — Google review
We went in the beginning of january on a Monday, right before their season starts, so we had the entire place to our selves. The views from the top of the jumps were breathtaking! It's worth the money for the views and photos, but probably not as exciting for kids at least in the off-season. It would have been awesome to see the skiers going down the jumps, but no crowds were great for photos. Also, the glass elevator going up to the top was an added bonus!
Jenna Carter — Google review
We went up to Lake Placid for the 2024 eclipse and I took my kids here for the gondola ride.
I didn't realize we could take the elevator up to the top of one of the ski jump ramps and climb up even further outside, so that was a cool surprise, because what a view!

We had a great visit to ski jump complex. We called ahead to find out when the ski jumping athletes were training and we were able go watch the them train from the beautiful viewing area at the bottom and from the top where we watched from the coaches platform. The staff at the ski jump complex (the woman behind the desk who helped us and the man at the top of the gondola) were the nicest orda employees we have encountered! They were super friendly and helpful. Thank you!

Really enjoyed the experience of feeling how high these jumps are. Being able to stand just above the starting point of a jump was amazing. I would highly recommend buying the $20 ticket to ride the gondola and then the elevator to the top of the 128m jump. Pictures up there are wonderful as well. A great view of Whiteface mountain too.

Watching ski jumpers was an amazing experience to see in person. No entrance fees, friendly people, fun experience for a weekend getaway. I highly recommend going to see for yourself. Home of the Olympians.

This is free to go to. However it does cost if you do the sky ride up to the top where the skiers start their jump. Awesome views from top and definitely worth the money. The employees running the sky ride were very knowledgeable and answered all of our questions. Will definitely come back when there is stuff going on in winter months.

Laid-back resort offering ski-in/ski-out chalets with wood-burning stoves, plus 3 restaurants.
Brought the family up from Florida and had an awesome experience. Everyone was super kind, knowledgeable, and helpful. Ski school was perfect for our kids who never skied before. Had them up and running in no time. We stopped at Whiteface the day before and it was beautiful but super crowded and busy. It would have been very difficult with 2 novices. Overall awesome experience at Titus, we would definitely come back.

Great ski resort. The best part of it is ..very less crowded as compared to rest of the famous ones. The prices are affordable too as compared to others. They have bunny hill and learning center to practice as well as high mountain ranges for pro skiing. They also have snow tubing, snowboarding activities. There is a cute lodge where you can enjoy food, coffee after tiring activities.
Definitely recommend this place

Great little mountain. Went on the weekend and there were essentially no lift lines. A good mix of terrain and fun. The culvert was a little trippy to snowboard/skate through and the bridge over the road was fun (as long as skiers or kids are blocking it). Definitely enjoyed my two Indy Pass days at Titus!

Friendly staff good conditions but..I had a Burger for 6.00 and a Cheeseburger for 7.00
Honestly, the worst burgers ever in my life.
Tiny burgers on a cold Bun.
It's hard to imagine just how bad they were.
And to charge that , which couldn't have even cost more than 1.00 to make was pathetic.
It's embarrassing to serve them.
Do not order !!!

We love coming to Titus Mountain. There is a perfect variety of trails on two of the hills, it is never overcrowded, the staff are friendly. A private lesson really paid off this year. Very helpful young instructor. My only suggestion to this awesome place is to make the lift departures a little less steep. We look forward to visiting again soon.

Our family definitely loves to go tubing and we usually go as a huge group. However, the only down fall is if u got children ages 4 and under it is very expensive. My child who was 2 only maybe went down the mountain 7 times....30.00 for a child in my opinion is very expensive. Also the lift was broken for an hour they should have refunded part of our money or offered a free tubing pass for a future visit.Need better business practices if they want locals to return.

The slopes were amazing! The staff also amazing! On the other hand, the instructors were not. They immediately came up to me and asked if i needed lessons and i didn’t i was learning by myself and i told them that. i went to get in the small learning area in the front and like 4 surrounded me saying i’m not going to be able to snowboard by myself and i needed to be taught. They were just insisting i couldn’t learn by myself, and it was lowkey said to me very rudely, and i felt very embarrassed. I said i’d pay for a lesson and when they weren’t looking i left LOL. Anyways idk why but they were like so rude.

Mt. Van Hoevenberg is a sports complex that features bobsleigh, luge and ski runs. It was built for the 1980 Winter Olympic Games and has been redeveloped since then. Visitors can enjoy a mountain coaster ride, hiking up the mountain which takes about an hour and a half but offers breathtaking views from the top, while coming down might be a bit icy.
Mountain coaster was fun but a bit pricey. The Discover Luge was a huge hit. Well worth the money. Marketa and Daniel were awesome instructors. Had over an hour of instruction and runs on the paved Luge track. By the end we were zipping down the track like Olympians!!

Building is beautiful and clean. Lots of shopping opportunities. We came to xcski but due to the lack of snow and price we decided not to. I can see paying full price when all the trails are open but a discount could be considered when the trails are limited. It would have been $100 Canadian for our family of 4 to ski on 3-4 trails. With proper snow I’d love to come back and check out their trail system though.
No events on today or practices so not much to do or watch. Still neat to check out though. Would love to go back when there’s events on.

I wish we could have done more. We climbed and did the coaster but they were both expensive, we were tapped out after those. The bobsled experience looks amazing, as did the zip-lining but a family of 4 starts to cost around $200+ per activity. Great place though, well run and maintained, hence the high costs I suppose!

Great resort area - easy to visit on a day trip when you're not staying there. Very nice bathrooms and shop, plus there's a restaurant I didn't try.
I was only here for the Cliffside Coaster, which is overpriced, but pretty much worth it! There's even a kiosk in the shop where you can get your picture from the ride, but I couldn't get it to work, which was disappointing. I also won't say the attractions staff are anything to shout about, but they aren't rude.

Unfortunately the weather hadn't cooperated too well so much of the facility trails were not usable. However, it is an Olympic venue and as such the cross country offerings are world class. We were able to XC ski enough to make our time worthwhile and the staff was extremely helpful. The trails are well marked and they did give us a break on the admission price because of the conditions. Next year we plan to try again.

We visited Mt Van Hoevenburg for the 2024 eclipse. The outdoor rides weren't open, but we plan to return and check those out in the future.
The MVH burger and chili were FABULOUS, but the chicken strips were basically jerky.
We stayed outside on the lower courtyard area facing the bobsled run most of the time, but the facilities were comfortable and very clean. Shortly after we arrived, someone kindly wheeled out a huge rack of folding chairs for eclipse-goers, which I thought was really nice of them to do. 🙃

Don’t just drive by if you’ve never been! What a beautiful quick hike, can be done in 30 minutes easily. You have to pay an entry fee but it’s worth it, also the gift shop is pretty good and not just filled with junk. If I ever pass through again I’ll be stopping in.

Really cool place with some great views. It’s a nice little low impact hike which was just right for our group (the wives were never going to do an extended hike). We walked the whole loop in about an hour and saw some really cool stuff. You can get right to the edge in some places which is pretty scary but still feels safe. It’s a great natural wonder and has all elements of a perfect vintage roadside attraction right down to the gift shop at the entrance/exit. I would definitely recommend a visit.

We visited on a Saturday in early February. We were fitted with traction devices on our boots for safe walking and headed out on the Waterfall Walk. There were so many beautiful views along the way…Whiteface Mountain, 4 Waterfalls, Ice Formations and a Whirlpool. We roasted marshmallows at the fire pit and relaxed for a while before heading in for a hot chocolate at the cafe. We browsed around the gift shop where you can find many souvenir’s from the region.
The staff were all very friendly and knowledgeable. We really enjoyed our time at High Falls Gorge and look forward to returning for snowshoeing. Highly recommend this amazing place in the Adirondack's.

Great place to enjoy waterfall views on an easy path. This place was very cool to see in the winter. They also gave us grips for our shoes to help with any snow or ice encounters. Nice high railings so you don’t have to worry about tour kids.

Absolutely gorgeous waterfalls! Lots of very cool items in the gift shop too... lots of beautiful crystals & spiritual items. The workers were all very nice too. Will definitely be back!

Beautiful fall colors on 10/14/23. It is accessible trail, part of the trail/ board walk is accessible for strollers , but mostly needs a walk to get the complete experience. We parked our stroller and walked the trail loop.

Mesmerizing views of waterfall. We went there in Winter (December). The waterfalls from different view points was breathtaking. It's just a 30-40 min easy hike. Entrance is right off the road. Its a must visit.

Beautiful walk! Not crowded, was able to take our time and just bask in the details and go at our own pace. The personnel were very professional, accommodating, polite, and respectful. The Cafe meal was very good and good proportions. Plan on eating there.. Enjoyed our day tremendously! Listening to the rushing water, seeing all the ice formations.

Excellent stop on our way home from whiteface. The gorge is a short walk but beautiful and the photos turned out fantastic. The staff was friendly and accommodating and the hot drinks included in the price were very welcome after the chilly winter walk.

Small shop and coffee close to the river. Coffee is nice, fair prices and the tickets to see the park cost 10 per adult.
2 hikes included, just made the waterfall one and it's really good, beautiful views, rocks and really organized. Definitely worth it.

Awesome place for a day trip with friends and family. A nice and easy walk to the falls with wheelchair access as well. There are hiking trails which you can do if you are in for more adventures. The hikes are easy as well as medium difficult.

Very cool place to visit. You start off in the gift shop which was pretty big and it had a cafe and restrooms. Once you pay, you cross a bridge outside and you can do a nature hike trail and walk the bridge walk around the waterfalls. I recommend doing both (both are included in the price of admission). I don’t recommend the bridge walk for anyone with a fear of heights, even though it’s not really high up there are times that feel it, especially on the bridges crossing over. There are a lot of areas that require you to go up and down multiple steps, some of which water does blow off the falls at you. But it’s well worth walking down them to see the falls and the areas the water has carved out. The nature walk is really nice and peaceful. Very quiet area and easy to navigate. There are areas that are pretty steep but I would still rate the overall hike as easy.

Beautiful. Very easy hike for 30 or 40 minutes. A bit pricey for such a short excursion (they close the gate at 5pm), but worth it. Go earlier in the day to be able to walk through the wooded trail in addition to the wonderful falls.

What a beautiful view of this waterfall. They have stairs and bridges situated where you can have great views of the waterfall. The area is kept nicely and it is not hard to walk the whole area. If you love the outdoors and are in the Adirondack area go and check it out. It take about 35 minutes if you don’t stop to admire and take nice photos. You have to pay to enter the trail $17 p/p adults.

I gave 4 stars only for the fact that the longer hiking trail wasn't open yet. There wasn't enough snow on the ground for it. However, if you want something to do that doesn't take long and has plenty of photo-ops, High Falls Gorge is the place. Go on the website and use the promocode to get your tickets. When you get there, they put these little bungee coils on the bottom of your shoes to help you walk on the icy stairs. Then they send you out on the 1/2 mile loop around the gorge. The pathway is well maintained, but the stairs and landings overlooking the gorge are icy. Be careful. There are so many great photo spots throughout the loop, but I would recommend going at a non-peak time because the landings can only hold one person at a time, and their are multiple narrow flights of stairs. I can see the potential congestion and rush at each landing. The gorge itself is amazing to see. Photos don't do it justice. You really have to experience it in person.

Absolutely wonderful experience. I was a little hesitant to visit during the winter when it was snowing but I'm so glad I did. They put some YakTrax on my boots and I was good to go! The staff were all very friendly and the area is very well-maintained.

The majority of the trail loop is closed through the woods. The trail is solid ice. Bring yaktrax if you have them. They make you rent them otherwise, no spikes allowed. For 2 adults, it was almost $40. The falls are gorgeous and partially frozen. They have a campfire and marshmallows at the end.

A great light hike for almost anyone! We went right after a snow fall so we got to see the falls all frozen over. Like others have stated, it is so much more than any words or pictures can depict. Definitely buy online ahead of time, there is a discount for buying them online. With the snow, they had complimentary YakTrax for shoes ready to go with workers to install them. On the weekends, they have marshmallows ready for roasting at the end of the hike!

Great winter outdoor activity for those without a lot of outdoor winter activity experience. Well-maintained pathways, beautiful views. I imagine it wouldn’t be environmentally friendly for them to put down salt to manage all the ice so the yak tracks they provide for your shoes was incredibly helpful! Beware there are a lot of stairs but good solid railings. Leave time to enjoy the campfire and s’mores at the end and the nice gift shop (military discount)

Awesome place to visit if in the ADK area! Went 2nd week of October (10/14/24) Not too many orange colors and the mountains were Past peak but still worth going no matter what time of year. Definitely hike the trails and make your money's worth while your at it. You have to pay to go view the falls so enjoy it all. Take breaks. Breathe in the fresh air, take a minute to sit at all the different chairs around the falls and enjoy the pretty views and sounds. Look for the cute chipmunks! God is Good life is Beautiful Enjoy NY!
Such an impressive waterfall for such a quick hike. Took the trail to the bottom of the falls. #disabledhikers easy trail that was mostly level and flat. I didn’t need trekking poles.

Fun short little hike. Falls are larger than expected, but the view from the base is blocked a lot from the rocks, the view from the pull off on the main road was good if you have a decent camera.

Nice short hike with a good view. Be prepared to rock-hop a little to get to certain areas at the top or bottom of the falls.

Great short hike on the way from Lake George to Lake Placid. There is a viewing area from the highway, but the better view is from the bottom of the falls. It is less than a half mile from the parking lot and very well marked.

short hike to the bottom of falls. We visited a day after a big rain storm.

Great short hike to the top of the falls with a nice view of the Great Range from Sawteeth to Lower Wolfjaw. Looking up from the bottom of the falls gives you an appreciation for the forces of nature that created this scene. This little jaunt is wonderful if you're pressed for time but still want to immerse yourself in nature. Trail splits almost immediately after signing in at the trailhead register, and the hike takes 15-20 minutes to the top, about 5 or 10 minutes to the bottom.

Short hike through lovely forest. Make sure to check falls from the top (the views are worth it!)

Beautiful falls. The trail to the bottom of the falls is quite easy. The trail to the top is challenging, but worth the effort for sure.

It is awesome!! Very beautiful and not to loud while we were there but it was loud as the water hit the rocks on the bottom into the river. Definitely worth going if you want to see a cool waterfall!

Quick little hike. Two trails run to the top and bottom of the falls.
It’s part of the larger Giant Mountain trail system.
Easy enough for kids, there is a bit of an initial climb on the trail to the top. Also a bit wet in the mud season - to be expected.
