How long is the drive from Pierre to Sioux Falls?
The direct drive from Pierre to Sioux Falls is 224 mi (361 km), and should have a drive time of 3 hrs 10 mins in normal traffic.
If you’re going on a road trip from Pierre to Sioux Falls, we did the research for you and compiled some great stops along the way — with top places to visit like Casey Tibbs Rodeo Center Museum and South Dakota Discovery Center, or the ever-popular Pioneer Auto Museum.
The top stops along the way from Pierre to Sioux Falls (with short detours) are Corn Palace Gift Shop, Akta Lakota Museum & Cultural Center, and Pioneer Auto Museum. Other popular stops include South Dakota State Capitol, Wild Water West Waterpark and Flamingo Falls Campground, and Mitchell Prehistoric Indian Village National Historic Landmark.
Long-standing museum featuring 275+ classic cars, tractors & motorcycles, plus a gift shop & diner.
This place started as a corner gas station in Mitchell, SD in the 30s. The owner had a couple of old cars that people would check out while filling up, so he got the idea to put a building around them and start charging admission. Things kinda snowballed from there, and ~40 buildings later it's still going strong.
It's not the cheapest place you'll ever visit, but I can assure you it's worth the cost of admission. I've been to probably half the auto museums in the country, and this one takes the cake. First of all, it's huge. 300+ cars, not to mention the bicycles, trucks, tractors, motorcycles, and all manner of other antique collectibles. The astonishing thing as a car guy is the number of cars I saw that I'd never seen before - and some I've never even heard of!
Not only that, but much of it is housed in a transplanted "frontier town" that includes a church, fire station, train station, school, gas station, and much more. We spent almost five hours there, and the only reason we left was because the youngest kids were getting tired.
Thank goodness they're a Harvest Host, or we may have never known about it. Speaking of that, their RV parking is extensive, safe, and level.
Zac Clark — Google review
It's not just cars...it's a mini village with displays as varied as lunch boxes and washing machines. The cars are definitely the main feature, but don't let that "steer" you away if you're not into cars. It's worth spending about an hour to an hour and a half. Conveniently located off the freeway. I would have liked to have seen a few more descriptions of the cars and some nicer display buildings, but I did enjoy the overall quirky vibe.

We've driven past this place a million times on our way to the Badlands and/or Colorado, but we finally stopped this past April. The place is MASSIVE - so much more than we expected. Set aside a couple of hours at minimum. They have cars I've never heard of and machines I couldn't have dreamed up. Things were pretty dusty and dirty, so it definitely could use a little TLC. If you are even a tiny bit interested in cars, you will enjoy this place.

A must stop place if your passing on the way through Murdo. The Pioneer Auto Museum has a large number of antique cars, trucks, tractors, vintage motorcycles, & so much more antique memorabilia and buildings. You could literally spends hours here if you wanted too.
Sean Williams — Google review
Tons of old cars, trucks, tractors, motorcycles, and antiques. Even an old train caboose you can walk in and see what they were really like. Worth the stop in if you enjoy antiques and vintage automotive history.
Jeff D — Google review
Well, we just drove an hour out of our way to go here, and walked in and were faced with a life sized mannequin of Trump and confederate flags. We decided that this was not a place we wanted to give our money so we turned around and left.
Kelly V — Google review
We stayed here for Harvest Host and had a nice stay. Easy driveway to get in and out of. Lots of space. Owners are super nice and helpful. There were only two hours left to view the museum so they let us have the ticket to come back in the morning. There's a ton to see here. A nice little town set-up out back. Lots of cars and antiques. We loved the motorhome the most!

We had a blast. My friends Ben and Kate would love this so much, I've heard them say that they haven't seen an old car museum in like for ever... well I have the place for them.
Will Keller — Google review
Called ahead to verify the barns would be opened he said "yes no problem, we close at 5.
We've been closing at 4:00, if it's not busy."
He asked when I'd be there, I told him it would be 2 hours from my location which would put me there at 4:18 p.m.
He said "ya no problem we can stay open, we close at 5, you won't have time to see it all."
I said "that's fine."
I got here at 4:13 p.m. They are closed. I planned part of my trip across the country around this stop because I specifically wanted to see it. I will probably never be in this area again. Very disappointed. I was really looking forward to seeing it all.

This place was awesome!! Went with my dad after seeing it on the Pickers. There is so much to see! The selection goes well beyond just automobiles, too. Very cheap for what the value of it. The staff was super nice and friendly. Must go for enthusiasts

Some incredible vehicles, some cool old stuff, some junk. Great place to get out of the car and walk around for a while.

This place was such a great road sign find! Super friendly owner was able to take great care of us, with lots of amazing vehicles to look at and some pretty cool exhibits you can easily burn a couple of hours in here! I highly recommend stopping in if you are anywhere near the area! I would love to return at some point in the future

This is a pretty big museum, you will spent 3 hours to see all, plus the gift store and the restaurant, you will find here the original General Lee, another 100 nice cars a a small town on the backyard with train wagoons
Flaming Cats — Google review
Excellent collection of classic cars and a bunch of old (and rare) farm tractors as well as a bunch of cool buildings on the property. There also tons of "Easter eggs" to discover, just keep your eyes open. Admission is very cheap and it's self paced so don't feel like you're being rushed. Met and got to chat with the original owner's son, super friendly people and I will absolutely visit again if I'm in that area. Very much worth the stop.

Pioneer Auto Museum in Murdo, South Dakota is a trip down memory lane. The host was very kind, fun, and helpful. There are lots of antiques, not just autos. There's a prairie town also. Parking is a large gravel lot adjacent to the museum. The restaurant was only open for breakfast and lunch today.
I would recommend a stop if you're passing this way whether you stay the night or not. They allowed us to use our generator for the AC.

Fantastic place, worth to spend 1h Brdak during the road. Great car ( but Not only) collection. Super gify Shop to get from USA.
Very detailed and interesting exhibits on national and local Rodeo. How it developed, especially in SoDak from a primary occupations to sport.

Interesting little museum, it's on a pretty nice overlook.

Many wonderful tributes to many talented cowboys and cowgirls. The photographs are great. The displays such as cowboy clothing and rodeo costumes are still colorful and in great shape. The many different saddles are an interesting display. The two levels of museum displays are easy to get to. Love their gift shop. All South Dakota made except for the Montana silver jewelry. I purchased a necklace with carved feathers made from buffalo bones. The artist is from Eagle Butte. Great place to buy a gift for a special occasion to honor SD made! The parking lot is nice. I like the individual family brands that are burned into the wooden posts as you enter the front entrance. Nice way to pay tribute to the ranchers who developed South Dakota for over 100 years! It is worth $6.00 entry fee.
Dee Hanson — Google review
This is NOT a place that holds rodeos. It's more of a business center. They hold auctions and other things of that sort inside. There are 2 floor levels. Stairs and elevators. Honestly, it seems bigger on the inside than from how it looks on the outside.
Dawson Fleagle — Google review
A wonderful walk through rodeo history!
Melissa Kennedy — Google review
Very kind staff, and if you like anything equestrian or rodeo, this place is a must see in Fort Pierre.

Went here for a wedding reception. Incredible museum of Rodeo champions particularly those from SD.

Great place for the conference I attended for the 2nd year.
Matt Lacey — Google review
You don't have to be a rodeo fan to enjoy this Museum. Lots of interesting exhibits and excellent photographs Plus Great videos of rodeo Riders. Fully accessible to wheel chairs.
Playful museum offering over 60 interactive science exhibits for young children.
This is a gem! My spouse seen the outside of the building and was kinda questioning my decision to bring our family here, but this is one of those instances where you shouldn't judge a book by the cover! This place is amazing and the price is perfect for any family of any size to afford to enjoy! We had so much fun! Fun for any age!
Alissa Smith — Google review
We did not have kids with us, but stopped in to check it out for family that would be passing through the area. We stayed longer than planned as all of us adults were having fun getting to be kids again. Great hands-on activities!

We had some time to kill do we took our son and grandson. We had a great time. So many cool things to "discover".
Jeff Beringer — Google review
This was part of a field trip for 4th graders. The staff was great and on their game. The kids definitely enjoyed the hour or so we spent there.
jeffrey abrams — Google review
This place is great! My daughter and I spent 3 hours here and neither of us got bored. Most of the exhibits change over time, so it was different from what it was 2 years ago. The flower shop/restaurant/veterinary clinic was a big hit with all the kids.
Dustin Bartlett — Google review
This is such a fun place to discover all kinds of science principles. Children up to age 12 will have a ball! Adults can learn things too!
Deb Griewski — Google review
We love the Discovery Center! It's a wonderful place for the kids to run around and burn energy, but also filled with educational activities. Keep your eyes open for awesome programming that the staff put on. The hours a little bit shortened in the winter, so if you're unable to make it now, rest assured summer hours are coming!
Alan Haarstad — Google review
Great spot for a quick break with the kids. Good activities for all ages. My 14 year old had as much fun as my 5 year old.
Brandon Brooks — Google review
Nice little place to take your children :-) the bathrooms are nice everything is well taken care of and the lady at the front desk was really sweet... Might want to look into the age group on which to take their as my ten-year-old loved it but my 16 year olds thought it was not so interesting.
Melissa Gaines — Google review
Nice place with kids activities. The staff was friendly and they have some fun learning things to do!
Early-1900s neoclassical government seat with a marble staircase & rotunda, plus paintings & murals.
I was so pleased to go through one of the friendliest security checks I have ever seen. There is a lovely brochure that takes visitors through the various floors with interesting tidbits along the way. I really enjoyed my visit to the capitol building. If you follow the brochure, plan on a little less than an hour. More if you tour the outside areas.
Michael Miller — Google review
Attended Christmas at the Capital 2023 and it was an amazing experience! Beautiful collection of Christmas trees, all donated by various businesses/families within South Dakota. The event is free and took about an hour to see all the trees. The amount of decorations on each tree was so impressive. They even have a sign-in book and it's nice to see where others drove from to view this event. Thank you to the SD Capital for hosting this event!
Daniel Ramirez — Google review
As a politically engaged citizen, it's enlightening to tour the places where our Representatives make decisions for us on a day-to-day basis. South Dakota is a sparsely populated state and is one of only four in the US where elected officials work on a part-time basis and maintain day jobs. The Capitol grounds are excellent, and almost always deserted. After going through a basic security screening, you are able to freely roam the inside of the building and rotunda. I particularly enjoyed the informational exhibits that documented how Pierre was chosen to be the capital city as well as showcasing the biographies of former Governors.
Miles Sampson — Google review
This building is an amazing piece of architecture and is meticulously maintained.
Keith Schumacher — Google review
It's worth visiting such a nice building. Entrance is completely free. We were the only visitors on Saturday morning.

Attended AARP Lobby Day. Had a wonderful lunch. Picture in the rotunda, & were warmly greeted by the Senate Chamber. Our South Dakota State Capitol is gorgeous.

Was really exquisite to just walk around and see all the art work on the walls and all the statues.

Visited for the Christmas 2023 season all I can is AWESOME and AMAZING, this is a must see the buildings architecture is priceless. Wanted to see if the Governor was in and maybe share some tea but against better judgement decided she was to busy. Anyway stop by and take a look you won't be disappointed.
Karen Dean — Google review
I happened to be in Pierre, SD Memorial Day Weekend and looked around to see what I could do. I love architecture and found my way to the Capital building. I didn't notice any cars in the lot but thought I could satisfy myself with photos of the exterior. I started to have a conversation with a gardener and remarked how beautiful the landscaping was. He was so very nice, as I found people are in South Dakota and I inquired if it was possible to view inside. He took me in hand, inside to security and asked them to take good care of me and they did. The inside of this building is remarkable and spic and span. I could feel the history and hear the many discussions that must have ensured in these hallow halls. I felt I was in a maze because just when you think you at a dead end there is another corridor. I thought I had seen everything and when I started to leave, I said goodbye to security and one gentleman asked me if I had seen such and such or such and such and I hadn't. Even though my feet were hurting at this point I followed him to areas I had not, indeed, viewed. I am so glad I persevered, because I missed some enormous assembly rooms, plus he shared some history. I was in heaven since I enjoy learning about the history of places I visit. I am so thankful to this gentleman. If you have the opportunity and enjoy architecture and history, make a point to visit.
LA Glickman — Google review
So happy to vist the capitol building inside and out on the grounds. Walked all the levels from the basement to the top floor house and senate chambers, enjoying the marble stairs and pillars. Looking at photo's on the wall of court Justice ⚖ along with the dresses worn by the first Lady of the governor at the time and current husband to Governor Christy Noem. Worth the time to see and visit South Dakota big Home.
Carl Muhm — Google review
Very beautiful! There's a nice guidebook to walk you through with some cool trivia in it, like the heart shaped tiles! Also a fun children's activity book. We had a lot of fun exploring this gorgeous building. We have visited a lot of state capitols and this was one of our favorites!
Sarah Trader — Google review
This is an amazingly beautiful example is an old capital building. I was fascinated by the casual, relaxed atmosphere and the accessibility of the political representatives. There are wonderful murals in various areas, and a quaint gift shop in the lower level that's worth a visit. Well done South Dakota!
Jon Morrill — Google review
Security entrance on the NE side. Bathrooms are extremely clean and just neat!! Free. We spent about 45 minutes looking around inside. The grounds outside are beautiful as well. Tons of parking. We were here on a Saturday morning in September.
Russell Milles — Google review
My experience here was quite good. My mate and I rolled up in our car and parked just a block away with no issues, and unlike many of the other state capitol buildings I have visited, this had no security checks, at least coming through the door we did. All of the rooms were pretty accessible, including the State Affairs room where I testified. The setting was very nice on a bluff overlooking the Missouri River, and the ponds around it looked very cool. I might not visit again to testify, but I am glad I did the one time. It’s close in resemblance to the Montana State capitol because the same design was used, interestingly enough. If you’re passing through, it’s worth even a quick visit.
The museum was a last minute stop, and surprisingly great! Well worth the visit. The displays were beautiful and well put together. The information of the history was intriguing. We loved that the displays were also interactive. Make this a stop on your list!

Wow!! This place is a wonderful way to learn a lot about the history of South Dakota!! So much packed into this museum, well worth a visit by anyone, kids and adults alike! They have lots of information for the adults and many fun little interactive stuff for the kids. Admission is free for kids under 17 and adults are $4. So glad we checked it out!! The view from this unique building is also very pretty!

The South Dakota Cultural Heritage Museum does a great job of sharing our amazing state's history! Fascinating artifacts and information! I explored the museum with a group of students and they enjoyed learning more about South Dakota! The museum captured their interest as did the tour guides with their wealth of knowledge!
Brady Olson — Google review
Probably one of the best cultural exhibits I've ever seen. Totally loaded with items I had never seen in all my travels. The layout of different areas of the building was amazing. The building is enormous in size and loaded with interesting artfacts. This is a must see place to visit.
Tom Anderson — Google review
The earthen architecture alone is awesome, a nice little shop inside, and the museum - primarily Native American items - is $8 for out of state and free for SD residents. Very cool. Even though there were almost no Native American people in this area, there are now nine (9!!) reservations in South Dakota. Some may say our history “sucks” but it is right and good that today we honor the past and hopefully are making better history today.

Nice place , decent price to get in, very educational with all kinds of things to read about. As a local from the area I was impressed with the amount of extensive coverage on various subjects.
Take note that the archive room is not open on wnkds

It's the best thing for a tourist to see in Pierre. It's basically a history of South Dakota starting with Native Americans and progressing to modern times. Very well laid out. Price is reasonable. Plan on 1.5 hours here.
Michael Miller — Google review
They have so much to show you. I was impressed. Very interesting place to go. So much information and they put a lot of information on women who settled in the west. This is a must see. The people who work there are super nice.
It's more like a bar that serves great steaks. The meat is very tender and perfectly seasoned. The drinks were cheap and they have a good selection. There are TVs on the wall, pool tables, and a very relaxed atmosphere.

I loved this stop. This should be an intentional stop for anyone passing through the area. We stopped to use the restroom. We were pleasantly surprised. The views of the Missouri River are spectacular. The displays and information on the Lewis and Clark Expedition that passed through the area is nice. The "Dignity" statue is beautiful.
I hope to stop again with future travels.

One of the better rest stops we've been to. It's a ritzy town that don't too much like "outsiders" but over a good area to stop and check out. The river is awesome and a great way to cool off, swim and relax too.

The 60 foot tall Liberty statue at the L&C rest area gave me goosebumps. And the visitors' center exhibits are up to date, and awesome! I learned so much about L&C. Plenty of parking even for large trucks and campers. Free admission! Last but not least the restrooms are spotless and open 24 hours.

Fabulous rest stop. Picnic here is very pleasant on a road trip. Dignity monument is worth the stop alone.
Nice little presentation/exhibition inside.
Notice September 2023 eastbound exit is closed for highway construction and you have to pass by to Kings exit and head back to westbound exit. Getting back on eastbound you need to head westbound to business 70.

While stopping at Welcome Center on our ways to Minnesota. Place was immaculate loved looking at the statue and teepee. Inside of building they have own displays of exhibits. Also the employees and staff was very helpful and friendly. Restroom was clean and so was the areas I explored. We don’t have many travel centers where I am from in New York so it was a huge plus witnessing something different and unique! Whoo! Yeehaw!😊

I went there in June 2019 and it's nice rest stop and with an exhibit and an overlook and where you can see the Missouri River.
KE Abney — Google review
Great place to stop and enjoy the scenery the rest stop was clean and there are trails to enjoy if you have been in the car a long time the statue was huge and beautifully sculpted to represent the Native Americans that owened South Dakota until it was savagely taken away from them. Beautiful stop you can see the Missouri River off a hill and it has a pet area for your besties. Fun for the whole family on your drive through South Dakota.

A wonderful stop. Nice information about Lewis and Clark. Plenty of info about the attractions in the state. Very nice staff.
Such a clean rest area and rest rooms are clean and honestly even the hand soap was pretty great. My husband and I took a stroll outside. It's chilly but wanted to check out the statue. Amazing. Everything is covered in what use to be snow is now Crunchy ice. No humans around but us. It sure was a beautiful vision here. I might sound a bit weird but maybe because the sun popped out and I'm enjoying it.

This was a very beautiful statue lit up at night or in n all her glory during the day our whole family really enjoyed seeing her!! Also inside the rest stop in the same parking lot as the statue is a lewis and Clark museum for free very cute well worth the stop 🛑 the door feeder even gave her a voice a bag that had little books and then with crossword puzzles little items it was very nice! I definitely recommend ❣️ also it's accessible from either side of the highway so no matter which way you're headed you can catch this amazing free stop!!

Creativity.... breathtaking.... awesome.... The highway if you come from Sioux Falls to Rushmore is under construction, the exit to this spot is closed, there no way to get there. So leave this stop point to visit during the return trip. July 27- 2023

Beautiful rest stop! The bathroom was clean and the rest stop is well maintained. The signage around the Dignity statue were informative.
Ashley Woodard — Google review
This extreemly clean rest area (excellent parking for semi, RV, and cars), has so much to offer. YES the "Dignity " statue is here and is really beautiful from all sides. But take some time to review the Lewis and Clark exhibit that gives you an idea of their travels in the area. Also Take time to walk the short trails to view the river and the RR Bridge for some spectacular views. There is so much here that it is MUCH MORE than a rest stop or a tribute to the Spirit of America. We even had a picnic in the very clean shelters. Our "quick stop" was for over 1 hour.
John Thompson — Google review
I had seen this originally on Facebook and so glad I made it to see the Dignity statue in person! This statue is so beautifully crafted and am surprised that it's just out of the highway. It's nice that there's a small visitor center for people to learn more about the indigenous people and their history. I think that this is good way to honor the local tribes' culture and history. The grounds are well kept and the view behind the statue are outstanding. I did see a sign about staying on the path due to poisonous snakes. I'd recommend this free stop to anyone passing by!

When timing your stops when road tripping through South Dakota, make sure to get to this rest area just off the interstate.
Better yet, plan for a picnic where there is plenty of seating in the outdoor area.
There are also some trails to walk during your stop.
Unfortunately the skies were filled with smoke from the wildfires when we visited but we could see just enough to know there were also some impressive views from this spot too.

Wow what an incredible statue. Way bigger than I thought. Easy to get to and well worth an extra 20 minutes to check it out.

Beautiful sculpture even in the wintertime. No clear pathway was provided - we had to walk through some deep snow to get close (minor for us, maybe not for others). Highly recommend to see the beauty.

Loved the statue and was impressed with how big it was. There's a trail to an overlook of the river but no dogs allowed on trail. Beware of rattlesnakes. Building was closed due to pandemic when we visited but definitely plan on going back in the future. Plenty of parking and worth stopping by if you are driving past to stretch your legs and get information on local sights and attractions. Statue is lit up at night. If you're into native history then be sure to stop by Akta Lakota museum which isn't that far from rest area. Workers were there maintaining the grounds and were very friendly and helpful with all of our questions.

It's amazing! And a great surprise when you pull up to it. Nice rest area. Great view overlook view of the Missouri river. The Lewis and Clark display here is on a seasonal basis like most attractions in SD. So you won't get the full experience in the winter or out of season.

Lots to look at! Many many books, old postcards, advertisements and atlases. Loots of antique tools, crocks and wooden crates/boxes. Glass cases up front had lots of jewelry, Native American art and collectable currency. The owners are operating on an appointment type schedule, but they welcome a phone call to open up. The Google page for the business has a link to their website that gives info for the latest hours and appointment information.

Well, I reckon I stumbled on this here Old West-style gift shop, and let me tell ya, it's somethin' else! When I first moseyed on in, it felt like I'd been transported back to the days of cowboys and saloons, and I was clutchin' a cowboy hat instead of a six-shooter.
The shopkeeper, let's call 'em Wrangler Jack, was like a real-life prospector. They greeted me with a hearty "Howdy!" and dealt me a hand of poker cards, just for kicks. Turns out, they predicted I'd strike gold in their shop, and guess what? I did! It's like they got some kind of Old West fortune-tellin' charm.
They got a spot they call the "Frontier Fun Zone," where they host weekly lassoin' and hog tossin' competitions. You can even try your hand at shootin' targets with old-fashioned cap guns. It's a hoot, I tell ya, and Wrangler Jack swears it'll boost your luck for finding hidden gems in their shop. This gift shop ain't like any other, partner—it's a journey back in time to the Wild West, where cowboys roamed and treasures abound. If you've got a hankerin' for a good ol' time, give it a whirl. Your reality might just get a mighty fine twist!

A must see destination! From their old location to their new, it’s a museum of wonder that puts you in the Old West. You walk back in time as you walk in the door. The owners are so friendly and helpful! This place has always been a highlight of our trips out West.
The Akta Lakota Museum & Cultural Center offers a captivating journey into early Lakota life and contemporary art. The museum features multisensory displays showcasing the rich history of the Lakota people, as well as modern artworks from various tribes. Visitors can also explore the riverfront Medicine Wheel Garden for moments of reflection on Lakota directional prayers or visit the Lady of the Sioux Chapel to admire stained-glass windows depicting the Seven Sacred Rites of the Lakota.
One of the best museums, my family visited! We never expected such a detailed depiction of the history of Lakota Indians, their life style, issues, and some really wise philosophy. Museum is exceptional! And on a Missouri River! Plus it's free but they appreciate the donations!

I absolutely loved this place. I learned so much about their culture. Had lots of exhibits for kids to learn too. Although my kids are grown noticed they had it set up for all ages to enjoy. Also had beaded jewelry made by natives. Also had all kinds of other gifts such as arrows, books, mugs etc. Natives there are very nice and welcoming. We went in 2021 during pandemic and was just fine. Had to wear mask back then but was no biggie. Loved all the art outside as well. Included are pictures of akta Lakota museum. Recommend everyone needs to go there at least once. We plan to go again someday. To clarify it is free to get in but donations are accepted .

Great native American museum depicting the local Lakota tribes. Interactive exhibits were very educational and entertaining. All of the staff and volunteers were very friendly and welcoming as well as being informative. Very nice gift shop with beautiful handmade jewelry made by the local indigenous community. Absolutely enjoyed all the exhibits and plan to return in future road trips. Would highly recommend checking out the museum and learning actual American history that you won't find in public schools. Don't forget to give a little donation so they can maintain and expand their displays, every little bit helps. Great spot to take children for native cultural education. Be sure to stop by the dignity statue located at rest area nearby.

AKTA-LAKOTA~~“for the people”
We were thrilled with this museum and their wonderful displays. It was really a “special” museum and we loved all of the history inside. There is also a very nice gift shop and I bought several things one of which was an Ironwood carving of an American Indian. We were passing through Chamberlain and we also saw the beautiful “Dignity” statue. I recommend seeing the museum and the statue when in the area, there was no cost for either but I recommend you leave a donation at the museum.

Wonderful free tour of the grounds. They completely rely on donations and you can see that all the money goes into the school and campus for the children. Very well managed and very impressive. Thank you Wanda for the personal stories and great tour in your pope-mobile.

Awesome museum and heartbreaking to know what the plains indigenous people had to go through. You can't find places like this everywhere. Definitely worth the stop. Gift shop had items made from it's people and the museum is free.

Wonderful center and museum! Absolutely must visit!! Need many hours if you want to read and experience it all. 2 hours and we skimmed a lot of the informational and artistic plaques. My pics don't do it justice at all.

Went for the opening of a new exhibit called Navigating Narratives. It is about an encounter of the Corps of Discovery with an Indian tribe. The event is interpreted by 60 artists doing visual and musical and literal interpretations. It is also available online. Really interesting.

Was cool to see this free museum with all it has to offer. Hearing Native American voices is important for people to see and understand the struggle this group of people continues to face. Very educational and staff were super nice and helpful.

I was enriched by my visit here. There's so much information about the Lakota people. It seems everything you could want to know is here. I also enjoyed seeing some of the props from the movie "Dances with Wolves". "Tatanka" you very much for preserving history and providing this incredible resource.

My first visit, and I have to say that I adore everything about the Akta Musuem. It gives us Lakota a voice, and the displays bring back memories of when we were running with the buffalo during our free days. The gift shop is also really lovely.

This is a wonderful stop if you are in the Chamberlain, SD area.
It provides great and sobering insight into the history of Native Americans in the region.
Very nice displays. Easy to walk and see.
Entry is FREE. (although dropping a few $ in the donation box is welcome)

Unlike the Choctaw, Chickasaw, and among others known as the 'five civilized tribes', the Lakota is an unfamiliar term for a person living in the South. This free museum offers a fascinating way to learn about the indigenous population long before America was established. As with other native American tribes, their land shrank each time after a ceremonial treaty was created. If you stop by the Dignity Statue on the interstate, consider a short drive to visit the museum.

The walk through the museum was extremely educational. If I'm remembering correctly we toured the museum clockwise which takes you through early Lakota history ending in the present day. Learned a lot, very interesting and amazing. Also, areas explaining the schools history in the same complex. The grounds outdoors offer great views of the Missouri River. Great place, free to visit. Don't forget to leave a donation. Cool place definately worth the it!

We had pizza and a French dip the prices are fair enough the food is 3.5 stars it's not great as far as pizza goes but the sandwiches were good most good in south Dakota lacks soul
And flavor it's very out of a box here Italian has to be fresh hand made not pre done I cooked with Sicilians for 25 years and it's hard to like food that just isn't thought out and it's just made with no passion because there's no competition that does it better so why try somany times I want to just show Therese people how easy it is to do it and be a force in the industry

The Red Hog Saloon was awesome! Really good service and the food was great. I can only speak to the Pig Wings though. They are bigger than you would expect. If you order anything else you should get some of those to share at the table!

Stopped here for the Red Hog burger (pork, beef, bacon, cheese!)... it was great. Also a good variety of sides. This is a very informal place with multiple round tables that seat 5 to 6. Right on the main highway in Alpena across from the Jack Link's jerky factory. Good prices, good service. A 'hole in the wall' worth stopping at if you're hungry and passing by.

The Mitchell Prehistoric Indian Village is an archaeological site that was discovered in 1910 and has now been transformed into an educational museum. The village displays the way native Americans lived, and showcases their survival techniques as a society. The indoor dig site is fascinating and offers visitors a chance to witness history firsthand. The staff are welcoming, providing educational packets for homeschoolers, making it an excellent destination for families seeking to learn about this part of American history.
Incredible experience. Super cool to be at an actual dig site. There are staff available to help you and educate

A nice little museum that cost $10 per adult and the kids were free. The movie at the beginning is informative for adults but boring for kids (mostly archeological discussion).
The rest of the museum had some cool exhibits as well as an outdoor station where kids could try their hand at using an atlatl. The dig site and building itself were interesting, but due to unknown smoke in the building, they closed it before we could explore it fully (but after we'd paid).
Zac Clark — Google review
This was an interesting and engaging experience. We are a full-time RV homeschooling family that travels with two English Setters - they were welcome at the village too (we adhered to the reasonable guidelines). We all enjoyed the different displays that depicted the way these native Americans lived. The indoor dig site was fascinating - we plan on visiting again while the students will be working at the site. All of the staff were kind and welcoming. They supplied us a great homeschool packet. Thank you for all that you do!

Fabulous!!! Go do this one with your kids! You will love the history & they will love the set up, bones, and getting to see a live archaeological dig! They have plastic arrowheads that little kids can dig up & then turn in for real ones (not genuine artifacts, but hand made!) There was no wait to get in, and it was not crowded. $6/adult admission, 12 & under are free. Truly, one of my favorite things we did on our cross country tour!

Good to see the preservation of this historical site. The facility was easy to tour facility and can viewed in a few hours. Courteous and friendly staff. Gift shop has offerings from local artist. Very informative video that is a mite long and repetitive but still informative.

So fun and interesting! I wasn't able to grab many pictures because we were so engaged in learning. The small museum has a replica house in our and some interesting artifacts, but the highlight of our visit was the tour with the archeologist. Our son doesn't sit still long out and get fully engaged with things outside of his certain interests. However, the archeologist had him sitting and talking, cleaning and identifying actual items found in the dig site. It was a very unique and special experience my family will treasure. If I could give more stars, I would!
Michelle Day — Google review
This is a definite must visit archaeological dig! We learned so much about the native Americans who inhabited this region around 1000 AD. They were highly sophisticated with advanced technologies for that time period. Unlike many other people at this time who were mainly nomadic, these people cultivated crops, created tools and built sound structures to withstand the harsh winters and summers. This is an ongoing archaeological dig where university students from all over the world are researching this civilization. Make sure you stop here and spend at least two hours. There is also a mountain bike path near the site.

Was enjoyable even with the wind. Informative, educational, was interesting how these Indians developed, built structures and grew crops, instead of relying only on bison.
The McGovern Library, situated in Dakota Wesleyan University, is dedicated to George and Eleanor McGovern. Not only is the library visually impressive, but it also serves as a valuable resource for delving into American history and politics. Visitors have the opportunity to enhance their knowledge about various aspects of these subjects through an exhibit that provides insights into George McGovern's defeat by Richard Nixon in 1972. The library stands as a remarkable institution within this small college campus.
Bonita — Google review
This review is more for the McGovern museum within the library, rather than the library itself.
Wonderfully curated museum featuring the life of Senator George McGovern and his wife Eleanor. I really enjoyed all the memorabilia of the McGovern family, and the over 30 minutes of voiceover work provided by the Senator himself detailing various aspects of his life.
The seating near two of these displays was unique, one being that of a diner booth, and the other being four old airplane seats under the name plate of the bomber McGovern flew during WWII.
The gift shop has several works on McGovern, including some books written by himself, as well as one authored by Eleanor, and some vintage bumper stickers.
A very special thanks to the archivist at the library who was very knowledgeable and helpful, and was kind enough to provide some spare McGovern campaign buttons and surplus books.
All in all, a great place to learn about South Dakota’s own prairie populist. Especially worth a visit for those interested in the history of presidential elections, such as myself.
Attached is a photo of a statue of George and Eleanor directly outside the entrance.
Large spot for artifacts, historical information & art relating to Native Americans & pioneers.
The visit took about 90 minutes and we had the place to ourselves. Admission was $5 per adult and well worth the cost. The museum is on campus but parking was not an issue. My husband is a visit nut and he admitted to learning as well.

Very nice little museum. The downstairs has well designed, interesting exhibit about the history of the area. Including native history, early immigrants to the area, the dust bowl years, pioneer and farming exhibits. The ancient threshing machine, settlers cabin and sheep wagon are quite cool. Upstairs there’s a great exhibit on the artist Charles Hargens, who grew up in the area. They moved his entire studio from outside of Philadelphia back to this museum. His style is very much like Norman Rockwell, focusing on americana and early western themes. They did a nice job of explaining the process by which an artist creates a work, from old pictures and photographs to the final painted work. There’s some really great western themed artwork here!

This place is very strange and honestly a little creepy. There are hundreds of dolls and mannequins dresses up in “biblical” costumes. In reality, these dolls are dressed in whatever the owner could find at a garage sale. While it’s supposed to be a Bible experience, it’s just random. There are Christmas reindeer decorations, stuffed dinosaurs, and hokey displays. The owner is friendly and welcoming, but comes across as somewhat overbearing. He’s also a little in your face and tapped my husband’s forehead when he believed he gave us a great nugget of wisdom. “See, you need to read your Bible, sir!” I also noticed in reading reviews of this place that he gets very defensive of people’s opinions. Not worth your time, unless you want a good story.

Lone employee in the shop offered to adopt me and told me about his daughter who he was very disappointed with for studying drama, otherwise lovely ma who was very caring and kind. Mannequins killed my father.

The Corn Palace Gift Shop is a must-visit roadside attraction in Mitchell, South Dakota, drawing over half a million visitors annually. The exterior of the building features murals made from nearly 300,000 ears of corn, depicting various scenes that have evolved over the years. Inside the gift shop, you can explore photos showcasing the facade's transformation. Located just over an hour from Sioux Falls, Mitchell offers a mix of history and outdoor activities for a true taste of the region.
We brought some out of town guests from California to see the corn palace because it’s a perfect road trip stop. We all enjoyed our time and were impressed with the artwork inside and outside of the building. Souvenirs, snacks, and clean bathrooms are also available.

It was my pleasure to be the first DJ to host a wedding here... and I was right back the following weekend to do the second event ever hosted there for wedding receptions. Both nights were a huge success. The management there knows exactly what they're doing and got it right from the very first day. as an Entertainer it's an easy load in and there's plenty of power right in the setup area. if you're doing the ceremony out back you're going to want to bring your own power until they install an outlet near the gazebo. There is a parking lot around back where you can park and run AC power from your vehicle if you have a converter. This is going to become one of the top wedding locations.

I’ve visited 6 different pheasant lodges in South Dakota over the last 20 years and A1 Al’s takes the cake! So convenient to Sioux Falls, super clean building with spacious rooms and private baths, tons of good food and all modern amenities, terrific hunting in perfectly cultivated fields, and staff and guides that are so nice, helpful and accommodating. We’re already booked for next season - thanks to Brady, Todd and all the rest!

If you're doing research on a place to hunt in South Dakota, you'll want to click that little button above this that says "save." Feel free to look around but this is your place.
I had the opportunity to stay at A1 Al's Pheasant Ranch recently and I can't say enough about the people, the hunting, and their genuine interest into making your stay the most fun and exiting (or relaxing) experience possible. The lodge is nestled in a farming community about 45 min from the airport with plenty of room for groups big and small. Sprawling views and remarkable sunrises like the ones you only see in hunting magazines. No photoshop required. The views out of the great hall are almost sterotypically picturesque and the hunting is equally exceptional.
Inside the great hall is a large open area with sturdy rough sawn beam work, a bar area with a pool table, and a collection of really unique and ornate taxidermy work. There's enough room for a sizeable crowd but also the ability to break off into smaller gathering areas in each wing. They have a kitchen that would rival most restaurants and the meals they prepare are a balance between a nice steak house and your favorite meal from mom's house. The beds are clean and comfortable.
The hunting speaks for itself. They have access to enough farmland where you would never need to hunt the same field twice. Even though you would like to. To be honest, you're biggest problem may be rolling ankles stepping on pheasant darting through cover underneath your feet! The guides are incredibly friendly and knowledgeable and put everyone's safety first with your good time being a close second. The dogs that the guides had hunted with a efficiency like they were punching in for work. They get em up, you knock em down. Every day. Rain or shine. We were fortunate enough to have our own dogs with us as well. Even though I'm sure the guides wished we wouldn't have done that, it was best part of the entire trip for me, personally.
What sets Al's above others, in my opinion, is the people who run the lodge. Legends of South Dakota pheasant have been passed around hunting circles for decades and I can confirm legends are true. I have been fortunate to travel to many places in pursuit of fish, ducks, and other game. It's rare to find a place that feels so truly welcoming and inviting and I can't wait until I'm able to get back there.
I encourage you to make those same memories.

We really enjoyed tent camping at Lake Herman. We chose to go midweek and we practically had the park to ourselves. The camp host was super friendly and helpful. We didn't know they had kayak and canoe rentals so that was an added bonus to the swimming, biking, hiking and campfire cooking. There are two spots that are tent only. They basically share the same ridge so I would suggest taking both. I think if it's busy, they won't be as private as some campgrounds have their tent spots but they have a nice view and are walking distance from showers, beach and playground!

It's $10 for adults and free for kids. There are attendants on-site as well. I was impressed—there were way more sculptures than I expected, and they were bigger than they appear in photos. I'd recommend spending 15-20 minutes walking through at a minimum.

Well worth the stop! The creativity and size of some of these pieces is truly breathtaking. If you are fortunate enough to meet the artist you'll be able to ask him about his creations and hear stories about his process and methods. If you struggle with mobility or walking on uneven surfaces, golf carts are available so that you can enjoy each piece up close. You'll definitely come away with lots of great photos!

Perhaps one of the greatest roadside stops on the highways of America! Not only is it a glimpse into the brilliant mind of the creator, it is a fun way to spend the afternoon!
The $10 admission was well worth it to us, some of the things we've paid way more to see can't come close to what we saw along the path in the grassy plains of South Dakota! The massive steel sculptures and creations capture your imagination and take you on a journey. Some are downright creepy, some are extremely bizarre, some are weirdly interesting and some are breathtaking! Many of the poetry boards that compliment the sculptures will leave you scratching your head and a few will leave you with a smile on your face!
The photo opportunities are endless and the grassy path through the sculptures is a nice nature walk. Pets are welcome to come along, our little one had a ball climbing on the colorful creations, he thought they were there for him!
A definite must stop on the Highway 90 in South Dakota, I mean, what else is there to do?!

A perfect spot to enjoy odd creativity. The art is well maintained, as it's outside. Some are large and others small. All are accompanied by poems or explanations. The artist is there for conversation.

Wayne Porter is an amazing artist. It was cool to chat with him about his art. I think between my husband and I we talked his ear off but he seemed like he enjoyed the conversation. Very polite and in all was a great experience. I can’t wait to see more art in the coming years if he gets more done. I told him he needs to add more and we got details on a new piece he’s doing so can’t wait to see it. This is a spot that doesn’t take a lot of time to go through and it’s a nice path to walk on so it’s a stop you must take if going through this area.

Porter Sculpture Park is an easy and fantastic stop on a road trip.
It’s just off the beaten path with east access from I-90. Take the dirt road through a farm, passing by some photo-worthy cows, until you reach a gravel parking area.
We were fortunate to meet the sculptor and learn a little more about him and his art before exploring the park.
In addition to the unique, quirky, and impressive sculptures throughout the park there are short poems / stories posted along the way.
TIP: don’t miss the board in the parking area. We liked that one the most!
We found it well worth the price of admission (and would never expect anyone to provide something like this to the public at their own expense) for a fun and quirky road side stop.

Stopped by this place along the HWY to ✅ it out! Met the artist and found the place to be absolutely amazing!!! Who knew in the middle of nowhere such a place existed! As you can see the sculpture has real artistic talent and we were blessed to have discovered it by random chance on the way to Mitchell, SD!!

Easily spotted from Interstate 90, you will find an eclectic collection of sculptures and poetry created by Wayne Porter. This sculpture garden is well worth the trip and the cost of entry. Wayne was on site when we visited and was very friendly and engaging. Here is an opportunity to support a local artist. While walking through the field, be sure to stop and read the poetry. Some of it explains a piece, some are just a peak into a creative mind. The garden is also a Harvest host site so you weary travelers can stop by for a night and also enjoy the art. Entry is on $10/person.

I enjoyed this stop very much, as did Ava. So much thought and creativity shown in these sculptures and writings. Wayne was so kind and interesting to speak with too. I appreciated being able to bring my dog along as well.

This is a very interesting place to visit. Wayne Porter is a very talented man! Not only is there amazing art to see there is equally amazing poetry! Wayne is usually there to answer any questions you may have. They also have golfcarts for those who cannot walk the grounds. Plenty of parking even for RV. If you are on the area definitely check this place out!

super awesome!!! went with my dad based off a recommendation from a friend. we were busy hauling our own sculptures to DC and i’m so glad we stopped here!! wayne was super nice and let us in for free because we had our own art with us. the sculptures and poems were awesome and i felt like i could connect to them. my favorite was definitely the bull and the red robed guys!! so stunning and awesome. though i will say, if you’re not ready for darker themes, maybe not the place for you LOL !! overall loved it. would definitely visit again. 🫶

Great place to visit with family, friends or alone. Wayne has created very unique sculptures. You cannot miss seeing the big Bull's head from I-90! His last addition to the Park is the horse which took 10 yrs to finish and then has great stories of its long journey to his Sculpture Park! I stop every time I'm in South Dakota!

We stopped in early for some joy before a hard 850 mile/day. What a treat! The artist was on site and prepared us for the Eastern Kingbird nesting in the blue dragon. What a lovely stop. Thank you for sharing your visions 💙

We loved staying here! Very unique and beautiful artwork by Wayne who is also the Harvest Host for this location. Very kind man and it was a nice and peaceful overnight stop just off I90. If you are staying with Harvest host I highly recommend, if you are just traveling through I highly recommend stopping and checking out his amazing sculptures and poems, be sure to give Bambino a pet while you're there.
Beautiful can't wait to come back to south Dakota as we are from central Pennsylvania.

Nice place to hang out on a hot day. Great swimming area that could afford to be a little larger. May have just been oddly busy when we visited but it got packed quick. Otherwise cool place.

I have now been to this campground twice. I stayed at the east campground on the south side of the lake. I found it to be very nice. The swimming beach is on the other lake at the north campgrounds. The water is nice and pretty clear, and the lake is fairly large(enough to do some boating). The bathrooms were fairly clean and nice. There are a couple playgrounds, and space to run, play and play ball. We did get a lot of bugs one night, but other than that it was an enjoyable time

Camped right on the lake and watching the #waterskiers and relaxing. This is a beautiful and well maintained park. LOL this has turned out to be an alarmingly expensive overnight because there is an $8 per vehicle per day use fee ($16 for a overnight) on top of the $35.26 campground cost and various fees and taxes. The website does not make that at all clear. Not really a good deal for non water sports visitors.
Kaye Schmidt — Google review
Nice place. They charge 8 dollars per car to spend the day, for camping is a different price. They have areas for camping, the bathrooms are nice and clean. The staff friendly.

Spent the weekend fishing and camping in the cabins at Lake Vermillion, South Dakota. Cabins are exactly what you expect, it's for sleeping. The deck space is excellent, better than most cabins I've been to. The view is just stunning as well. Tested out the photo sphere and panorama feature on my camera and am pretty happy with how they came out.

I love this park. Its really a good place to get away from the city. Catch decent fish and not bad to swim in when the weather is warm. We love this park so much we got married at cabin 3 back in 2013. Highly recommended. Cabins are always well taken care of and the park help is always courteous.

Beautiful lake, lots of locations to choose from, including the dam (be careful not to catch the giant snapping turtle!), and just out of the way enough to afford you beautiful scenery and fewer people. Please remember to take your trash and tangled line out when you leave!

Pretty awesome place, don’t let your dogs loose on the beach though they asked us not to. It’s a very clean park and well planned. Lots of fishing and places to walk. I would be bored after a weekend there but it’s definitely a fun day trip.

Very clean and relaxing!
This place has to be South Dakota's best kept secret!
The staff are extremely friendly and helpful, they manictre the grounds as if it were a mansion, most of the camp sites are very spacious and give you a beautiful view of the lake.
The park rangers are also very nice and patrol quite often.
The views, serenity and peace of this park really does make a relaxing and enjoyable stay!
They have boat ramps on both sides of the lake with easy access in and out.
The bathrooms and showers are super clean and always well stocked.
This is our first time visiting and it won't be our last!
If you're looking for peace, quiet, scenery and extreme cleanliness, you'll find it all here!

Wonderful campground with friendly hosts. We enjoyed the East campground due to sites right on the river. Great view + quiet/relaxing. Picnic tables + fire pit + electric hookup. Area is beautiful and well kept. Biking/ fishing/hiking. Highly recommended. Paid $21 per night + $7.50 for out of state. Host let us look inside the brand new cabins on the East side. Basic but very nice sleeping quarter with all you really need + nice deck with Adirondack chairs.

Great place to fish, very clean, and peaceful. Only bad thing I have to say about it is the last time I was out there one of the park rangers accused me of snagging fish. He kept asking me over and over if I was trying to snag fish, which I found very insulting. And told me he was doing me a favor by not giving me a ticket because he didn't have enough proof to give me one even though, at one point, he told me he had me on camera doing it. What a joke! I would have given it 5 stars if it wasn't for that guy.

We had a great time here fishing a few different times and plan on going back again. If you want to just catch fish go to the spill way. Mostly carp and gar but at lest you get some good non stop action through out the day. We also found some awesome places for shoreline fishing on the east side of the lake. Little bit off off road driving but you could make it using a car. I would recommend this place with your kids or just by yourself!
Had the Philly burger and onion rings with corona and a lime was very good thank you guys

If you aren't from the area avoid this place. Parker is a very Cliquey town. Stopped by for a few drinks with a group. After 2 rounds we were asked if we were going to order food, since we weren't we were asked to leave because a group wanted our table to order food. They didn't ask anyone else to move. No one could stop looking at us either the whole time we were there.

A staple of the community would be a understatement to describe Kelley's. The owners always have time to chat and have a genuine pride and caring spirit in the town and people of Parker. Great food, cold drinks and friends to be found.

Nice place. Specials are good on weekends. Happy to see owners active in their business. All the employees are curtious with good attitude.
My only disappointment is that food is not served between 2 and 5. Alcohol on empty stomach is not good. I don't usually go out in evenings due to my work schedule so I go elsewhere.
Great place for darts and beverages. Tjz is very active in a lot of community events as well!

We were working in the area and noticed they were open for lunch and advertised lunch specials. The special was meatball subs and fries and they were done well. It was fresh hot fast and delicious! Stopped in on a whim and found this local spot. The bartender was friendly and welcoming. The other people in the bar were talkative. The drinks were cold and the food was hot. I would definitely make it a point to come back here. Hometown bar at its best.
Wild Water West Waterpark and Flamingo Falls Campground is a seasonal attraction in the fields of South Dakota that offers aquatic adventures such as a wave pool, go-karts, mini-golf, and paintball. It is also known for its affordable prices and discounts for military personnel. The food at the park is reasonably priced compared to other places. The water park has received high ratings from visitors due to the friendly workers who ensure safety around the area.
Campground Review: AWESOME! We booked this place site unseen after having a not so great campsite about an hour an half away. BIG RIG FRIENDLY! This newly constructed campground was everything we needed to accommodate our 41’ rig, family and the staff was very friendly! The bathhouse rooms have a private toilet, shower and sink with coded entry- I loved this as a Mom with younger kids. The pond had some massive fish- but be sure to wear your tennis shoes or boots when fishing, there are a lot of prickly thistles around it. That didn’t stop us though! The kids made it onto the fishing hall of fame wall with their Northern Pike catch. Sites are water and electric, with dump station. Free water park passes for up to 4 people when you camp. Shuttle to and from the water park. If we ever return to SD from Illinois, we will be back here!

Went after 4pm and paid the late night fee of $18. Very busy, but still big enough to enjoy. Two sections were closed so the kiddos were bummed a little. Slides were a blast, go-karts were fast in the double karts. Wave pool was relaxing. Lazy River was a mess, drunk people all over, felt bad for life guards. Just avoided that with kids and had a great day.

A hidden gem in the fields of South Dakota. Passing through while on a cross country trip and this was a bargain! $31 for our family of five. Buy one get one AND military discount! Love how they still gave us that discount when we were already getting a great price. This is something you don’t get in other places. And the food here was not overpriced at all! We’ve been to many water parks across the world and this was one of the top ones! Workers were nice and lifeguards actually lifeguarded. Mini golf, go carts, awesome!

We spent 4th of July in the campground. We didn't get a full day in the Waterpark due to weather but had a great time nonetheless. The campground is quite new with new buildings which are very nice. There are many unfinished details, mainly the landscaping and roads. It got really muddy after a thunderstorm rolled through. The roads are a little rough, they will shake stuff loose if you go too fast.
My son is terrified of tornadoes and was very happy to see that they have a massive storm shelter. All in all, we had a great time. It is definitely worth the detour if you are RVing with kids on I90.

Super fun!!! Just make sure you wear plenty of sun screen. The lazy river is awesome! So much to do for a really good price. Make sure you purchase your tickets online from the gas station. It is even cheaper.
Jill Stewman — Google review
Had a great time. The lazy river has a very rough floor that will definitely cut up your feet. The wave pool was very tame, but for the most part everything was great. One stall door in the men’s restroom connected to the gift shop is broken, but they were all fairly clean. The slides were great fun for the kids, and the swim up bar was fantastic. The go karts we’re extremely sketchy and didn’t really work very well, but I don’t know many people that go to Wild Water West for the go karts.
Kaden Swanson — Google review
Had a great time. I read a review before going about WWW not having enough tubes for the lazy river or lots of them being under inflated. I saw a total of 4 or 5 under inflated (it happens) but what I did see were guest hoarding them in their cabanas or people hanging out in the swim up bar for hours with their tubes. Long lines at the concession stands but it was 100°. All in all a good time the more negative things were due to the guests not the park or employees. Every employee I interacted with was super.

We stayed several days at the campground. They just opened and are still working out some kinks, but they more than made up for any minor inconveniences with exceptional service. Will definitely be staying here again.
Spent a full day at the nextdoor water park. It is a nice water park that has plenty of things to do. My only criticism is the menu prices posted online do not match with actual prices. Still was a great time.

Stayed at the campground and spent a day at the water park. Camp ground was nice, great water pressure, and fantastic amenities! Fire pits included!! The water park was fun as well, prices were fair, and free go carts and bumper boats!

We try and come here a few times each summer. The kids love it. We always do the later time frame for less people and of course cheaper rates. They have a lot for all ages to do. Water slides, go karts, wave pool, lazy river, and a few other pool attractions. There is also mini golf too. There are several lifeguards all over the park keeping their eyes on things. The bathrooms are pretty bad though. The toilets flush very slow and due to so many people being wet and in and out they are pretty nasty to go in. The rest of the park is kept up well. Garbage emptied often, plenty of parking, life vests are available for kids, plenty of seating. I have heard the weekends can get pretty busy with long lines, but during the week has been pretty good for us.

We stopped here for a night at the campground on our way to Yellowstone from PA. We got to enjoy a few hours at the water park before they closed for the night. We had a great time! Kids LOVED the water park. The campground had beautiful sunset view over the pond, clean huge bathrooms, and extremely friendly and helpful staff. Our keurig got smashed on the trip out, and we even found they have complimentary coffee in the campground store in the morning. Saved the day!! Would definitely stop here again if we ever find ourselves this way again.

Took my boys (8 and 10) along with their 4 friends on a Saturday of a holiday weekend. All the kids had a blast and didn’t want to leave.
Lines were manageable for slides on this busy Saturday.
Only downfall was the food was a little pricy for the quality of food but nice portions.
Plus beer for the adults!!
