This is where Zhuge Liang lived in seclusion for ten years before leaving the mountains, and it is also where Liu Bei visited the thatched cottage three times. Stepping into Longzhong, the first thing that catches your eye is the large stone archway built during the Guangxu period of the Qing Dynasty. On one side of the archway is engraved a famous line from Du Fu's "The Prime Minister of Shu": Three visits frequently make plans for the world, and two dynasties open up the hearts of veterans. On the back are engraved the five characters "Three Generations Next". In memory of Zhuge Liang, he was praised by later generations as the most outstanding figure after Xia, Shang and Zhou Dynasties. In the scenic area, there are also "Ten Scenic Spots in Longzhong" built by later generations because of their admiration for Zhuge Liang. If you go to Gurungzhong, it is recommended to watch "Thatched Cottage Theater". This is the first live-action drama performed in the form of thatched cottage in China, including three scenes including "Longzhong Duo", "The Song of the Ugly Wife" and "Red Cliff Ode".

This is the largest Power Plant in the world with an installed capacity of 22,500 MW. There are 32 number of 700 MW turbines. The Dam is constructed across Yangtze River and the total relocation was around 20 million. Everything about this power plant is enormous. This is a modern wonder of mankind. The water capacity and everything about this power plant is so huge. This has been rejected by many construction companies considering the impact it creates. But at last China could do it on their own. The ship transferring canal too is one of the man made wonders.

Impressive to see the world's largest dam. In my view there's no need to buy any of the short ship tours nearby. The entrance fee will shuttle you by bus from viewpoint to viewpoint. When I visited it was winter, so the smog/fog mix certainly obstructed the view. Nevertheless the project is very impressive and the viewpoints well-chosen and decorated.

This hydropower dam in the mainstem of the Yangtze river is a disaster for people and wildlife. It is altering the flow and the hydro morphology of the river, hence creating problems with water availability downstream. It has the potential to decrease the fish stock and creating environmental and water quality problems and the extinction of fish species and river dolphins.

This dam was the only reason I came to Yichang, and I must say it was worth the trip. Despite the controversy surrounding its construction, the structure is doubtlessly a feat of engineering brilliance. The Longji or Dragon’s Backbone rice terraces were built over 500 years ago during the Ming Dynasty. The terrace fields are found in Longsheng about a two hours drive from Guilin. From a distance, during the growing season, these winding terraces appear as if they were green woven cables laid out over the hillsides, starting at the riverbank and ending near the mountaintop. One of the best experiences I've ever had. Breathe taking views unlike anything I've ever seen before. Was fun especially because me and the wife started hiking up the terraces with our friends from the Wada hostel, and then eventually hiked a different path. We later found out our friend Yen took a great photo of us from a higher elevation than us. Bring a map with you as its easy to get lost. And may have only locals high in the terrace villages to give you direction which usually don't speak good English. Lots of beautiful views to see. Also the rice they heat up in a bamboo stick was surprisingly very good. Highly recommend coming here if you stop by Guilin!!

From a distance, during the growing season, these winding terraces appear as if they were green woven cables laid out over the hillsides, starting at the riverbank and ending near the mountaintop. Visitors can meander through the paddies and villages, greeting and being greeted by horses, pigs, chickens and hard working locals.

My brother and sister were sitting in the back seat and were so scared that they almost flew away! ! We also meet the conditions and can play. Playing in amusement parks can scare people to death! ! Think twice about using entertainment facilities, especially pirate ships! Everything else is fine. Even though many years have passed, the shadow never goes away!

Reed Flute Cave, located just north of Guilin, is a dazzling system of water-eroded caves with various formations that can look like mythical creatures or other images. The cave's colorful artificial lights give it an added special effect and make it a popular tourist destination.
Rated a AAAA scenic site, this beautiful cave system filled with stalactites and stalagmites. The additional lighting makes the natural aspects look even more beautiful. It does get quite hot and crowded in the caves. The stairs do get quite steep and it does require a decent level of fitness to get through. Definitely worth the visit.

As you enter its a wonderland of color and light-Chinese love their lights and here you get abundance and it truly makes it spectacular-very easy going when you enter the cave and its large enough not to meet other mass groups so you can take your time and enjoy.

It was really a pleasure for me to visit that reed flute cave. You must go there once in your life and watch it ith your whole heart. It's beauty is unlimited. I am very thankful to God for giving me a chance to visit this beautiful cave which has multicolored stalactites and stalagmites.

The Reed Flute Cave is a landmark and tourist attraction in Guilin, Guangxi, China.
The cave got its name from the type of reed growing outside, which can be made into flutes. Reed Flute Cave is filled with a large number of stalactites, stalagmites and other rock formations. Inside, there are more than 70 inscriptions written in ink, which can be dated back as far as 792 AD in the Tang dynasty. It was rediscovered in the 1940s by a group of refugees fleeing the Japanese troops. Nowadays, multicolored lighting artificially illuminates the cave. The Reed Flute Cave is filled with various stalactites and stalagmites, which are named according to what they look like and the legends surrounding them, Crystal Palace, Fish Tail Peak, and Dragon Pagoda. One giant stalactite is said to have been the magic spear of the Dragon King, used by the Monkey King Sun Wukong in the Chinese Buddhist classic, Journey to the West.
I got Anne a really nice egg / egg cup for her collection from here.

This is an attraction you’ll want to see. It’s about an hour once you’re in the cave with the tour guide. It’s like most of caves except this one they used colored lights to make the entire cave look colored. Apparently there are many spots here where they shot journey to the west as well.

Very nice cave, very beautiful lighting. A bit commercial, but there are really nice spots to take photos. Recommend booking a private guide who can explain the history in English, since the staff cannot speak English. In my opinion, it is not the best place in Guilin, but if you are in Guilin and have some free time, it is worth visiting 😊

I came to Guilin and went to the Reed Flute Cave at the end of October 2018. When I arrived at the bus location, I had to park at the parking location located below. We can climb up on foot or take the train. The Reed Flute Cave is a cave that is formed naturally but requires a very long time. The view of the stone in the cave is given a very beautiful colorful lights. The air outside and inside the cave is very cool. We have to go up and down stairs to walk down the cave. Then prepare yourself and maybe be able to bring water in a bottle because the cave that must be passed is quite long. Inside also at certain times there is a short film projected onto the rock and very good. If we come there with a local guide, they can tell fairy tales about stones that can resemble several shapes.
Rajawali Robert — Google review
A nice experience. It's about a 30 minute slow walk through the cave. The air is cool and the floors are wet and slippery. Take your water bottle and wear good walking shoes. I went with a tour group and they had a short movie playing across the limestone walls/ceiling. There's also a photo booth within the cave where you can get your photo taken by the cave photographer and printed out. The cave guide spoke good English and pointed out limestones formed like snowman, Christmas trees, local vegetables, mushrooms, etc.

Great trip up the chairlift to see some of the surrounds of Guilin. A decent long ride and some interesting views. We had three kids under 1.4m so they couldn't ride alone, so we paid our taxi driver to accompany our oldest. The kids weren't very well secured but most of the time you aren't very far off the ground. Our weather was foggy so we couldn't see really far but it meant the ride wasn't too hot.

The hill is home to osmanthus flowers and the Elephant Trunk Mountain, which are both emblems of Guilin. The area around the hill is also known for its Water Moon and Love Island, two of Guilin's most exceptional tourist attractions.

Elephant Trunk Hill in Guilin offers a serene escape with its picturesque surroundings. The natural beauty of the area provides a perfect backdrop for relaxation. However, be prepared for crowds, as the site attracts a significant number of tourists. Despite the bustling atmosphere, the iconic Elephant Trunk rock formation and the scenic Li River make it a must-visit. The blend of nature and cultural significance is truly captivating. Consider visiting during off-peak hours for a more tranquil experience and optimal photo opportunities. Overall, a delightful spot, but best enjoyed with patience amid the tourist hustle.

Elephant Hill Scenic Area is one of the most famous tourist attractions in Guilin. The name of this place is derived from rocky mountains that resemble the shape of an elephant, although it is not exactly 100% like an elephant but we can imagine the shape that approaches the shape of an elephant. Where these rocky elephants also have fairy tales, in short the elephant is an elephant from the Heavenly Kingdom who is said to have been a long time ago that the Emperor's Sky was coming down and playing to the city of Guilin. The Elephant was very fascinated by the beauty of the city of Guilin, so that when the Jade Emperor returned to its place, the Elephant remained on the earth and became an elephant-shaped stone. This place has a beautiful view with cool and fresh air in October. Lots of photo spots here. When you visit China and to the city of Guilin this place is one of the places to visit. If you like to shop on foot there is a shopping place close to this extraordinary place especially at night.

Used to come here often as a kid, but the scenery inside is not worth the entrance price. The highlight for me are the several hills inside the park that can be easily hiked for good views of the city, a hill shaped like a camel where Bill Clinton gave a speech, and a mosque and several modest Buddhist temples, but they may have renovated and gone commercial. Qixing Cave can be skipped if you see Reed Flute Cave.
