How long is the drive from Yarmouth to Halifax?
The direct drive from Yarmouth to Halifax is 188 mi (303 km), and should have a drive time of 3 hrs 32 mins in normal traffic.
If you’re going on a road trip from Yarmouth to Halifax, we did the research for you and compiled some great stops along the way — with Lunenburg, as well as top places to visit like Le Village Historique Acadien de la Nouvelle-Écosse and Deep Sky Eye Observatory, or the ever-popular Tusket Island Tours.
Lunenburg is a seaport community situated along the Southern coast of Nova Scotia, Canada. It was established in 1753 as part of an early British effort to settle Protestants in Nova Scotia. The region's economy has historically depended on offshore fishing, and today Lunenburg is home to Canada's biggest secondary fish-processing operation.

Tusket Island Tours offers a unique experience in the Yarmouth and Acadian Shores region of Nova Scotia. Led by brothers Lucien and Simon LeBlanc, the tour takes you on a fishing boat through the islands, providing insights into lobster fishing, local culture, and history. Departing from Wedgeport Wharf at 10:30 am, the tour offers an opportunity to fish in the Atlantic Ocean with knowledgeable guides like Captain Calvin.
While our family was staying in Cape Forchu this past August, our AirBNB host suggested we call Tusket Island Tours when we asked about Deep Sea Fishing. Lucien was away on holidays at the time, but gave us Calvin's phone number, and after a couple of days of checking options and the weather, we booked our afternoon out on the Atlantic. Our captain, Calvin, was amazing! We had such a great time! Definitely one of the highlights of our summer holidays. We caught about 12 Haddock, one of which our son caught that was 21'' long, which I'm sure Calvin will always remember :). Highly recommend going fishing with Tusket Island Tours if you are visiting the west coast of Nova Scotia, such fantastic people!

Simon and Jimmy presented a fun and informative tour of the Tusket Islands history and lobster fishing industry. We got a run down on how the traps are hauled and a little info on the lobsters themselves. The tour is on a large wide lobster boat (pretty stable) and runs from Wedgeport around the islands with a short stop on one. You can even book a fish shack (nice cottage) and stay for a night or two. We enjoyed Simon’s seafood chowder, or you can request a head of time to have Râpe pie as an alternative. Simon sings and entertains on the return trip. Great people and a lovely bite into Nova Scotia life.

My friends and I had the pleasure of fishing in the Atlantic ocean with the guidance of our captain, Calvin. As soon as we got to the first spot, we started catching a bunch of haddock and also had the chance to catch two mackeral at once! Unfortunately, the tide and wind came through and made it difficult to fish in further spots, but that is to be expected given the nature of nature! Calvin definitely is knowledgeable and wants to see you catch big fish! He also helped prepare our fish to take home which was really nice. We even had the chance to see the tuna competition weigh in which was a bonus, although it's totally dependent on the time and day. It was also really nice of the folks here to accept us the day before for some last minute fishing, so we are thankful for that! This was definitely a highlight to our vacation.

Cannot say enough good things.
Family is how we were treated.
The weather was incredible though fishing season was not on our sides everything else was spectacular from the fresh fish dinner to the amazing live shanty and traditional folk songs sung by Simon and his excellent stories of the areas and families history
I'm definitely coming back.

Highly recommend! Simon, owner and operator, was exceptionally knowledgeable and accomdating. His family has been in the fishing and lobster industry for generations. Highlight of our trip!!!

Wow what a day! We went fishing with Tusket Island Tours today! Our tour guide Calvin was exceptional. The kids loved every minute of our fishing expedition. We highly recommend this tour for any level of fishing expertise. This tour is an excellent family adventure! The smiles on the kids faces at the end of day says it all. We cant wait to go again!

Had a blast here despite the weather. The boat is big enought that even with choppy seas it was not bad. The captain did his all to make sure we got enough fish for a fry on the island. He's not a bad chef with the fish and chips even. Defiantly coming back again and sending others there way.
The Acadian Village in Nova Scotia tells the story of the Acadians and their ability to preserve their culture and traditions. This museum showcases historic buildings, offers educational experiences like blacksmithing and fish preservation, and is a great stop for anyone interested in history or science. Visitors can also enjoy the generous and friendly staff as well as food at the on-site café. There's something for everyone at Le Village historique acadien de la Nouvelle-Écosse.
What a great place to get a feel for traditional lifestyles in this part of the world. Started off with lunch in the museum store (local dish, Rappie pie - either you like it or you don't). Tour consists o two salvaged houses (with backstories on the original owners), an old post office, a blacksmith (with a functioning forge), a boat shop (dorries under construction), a fish factory (hand made salt cod - tasty), and a fish shanty (equipment storage and repair). The docents were exceptional with personal knowledge of the area and the times depicted. Lot of fish tales, so to speak. Well worth the time, especially on a beautiful day.
ELM — Google review
This place was fascinating. It covered a not very well understood part of history and it made it real. The staff of living history interpreters were very knowledgeable. The preserved old buildings were amazing.

A 4.5 rating. A great little Acadian village with friendly and informative live resident guides. Comparable to a similar village in northern New Brunswick.

We have been to many Nova Scotia museums but this topped them all. All the stories of the Acadians in Pubnico were presented by genuinely enthusiastic story tellers - we loved every bit of it

Deep Sky Eye Observatory

Observatories & Planetariums
We’ve been trying to visit this place and to catch a good stargazing forecast for some time, and we were so glad we managed last summer. That was a spectacular experience! Thank you Tim and Amanda for your hospitality, sharing your stories and knowledge! Amanda was so welcoming and explained every detail of our stay.
This is a place to relax, to enjoy the moment and to learn something new. The bubble was super comfortable, it was cozy inside and very warm during the night. There are a few fire pits, you could do kayaking or just watch the sunset over the river.
The observation experience was informative. We loved the part when Tim showed constellations just on the sky! Wish we had it back at school.
Thank you and we hope we could go back!

We loved our time at the Deep Sky Observatory. We stayed 3 nights in a Sky Bubble (to ensure we'd get at least one clear nigh) which we did! Attending Tim's experience at night was so worth it, if only to hear his story about his blindness and how he ended up doing this. Would highly recommend. Also, as a beginner Milky Way photographer, Tim gave me some great tips!
Krista McNally — Google review
We stayed in the cabin and it was so relaxing. They have an excellent set up and add little extras like snacks, indoor and outdoor games which were greatly appreciated. Tim and Amanada are very friendly. We highly recommend Deep Sky!!!!
Kelly Wilson — Google review
The Deep Sky Eye is a must do experience that is out of this world! Take a tour of the wonders of our milky way galaxy and explore what lies beyond the stars. Tim is a knowledgeable host and offers a unique perspective to astronomy. Don't miss out on one of the only certified dark sky reserves in North America. 🪐🔭✨
Adam Blanchard — Google review
The experience is great. Tim knows alot of things astronomy and anything related to it. Just have to be sure that they'll have a clear weather when you go there, but even if you go on a cloudy or foggy weather, he'll make sure that your visit there is somehow worth it.
Sena Kawashizaki — Google review
What a great experience at DSE! A very informative, relaxing and fun presentation. A highlight was viewing a fantastically clear image of Saturn! We also stayed in the sky cabin, which was clean, comfortable and inviting. Enjoyed a great sunset from the porch rockers, and a foggy morning paddle in the provided kayaks.
Frank Joyner — Google review
We spent the night in one of their bubble tents. It was beautiful to sleep under the stars. Amanda and her husband were so attentive with us. In the morning we went kayaking in the river near by which made the experience even better. Was so beautiful we didn’t want to leave. Would highly recommend staying there 💙
Alicia Castaño Fernandez — Google review
This has got to be one of the coolest stops we made on our first ever East coast adventure. The space bubble tent had a spectacular view of the stars (we were fortunate to have clear skies) and was outfitted with cozy, cute star-themed bedding. Amanda and Tim are friendly and amazing hosts. We were treated with a bucket of snacks, and breakfast with homemade muffins, coffee and other goodies the next day. They have a campfire site where we enjoyed roasted marshmallows, and kayaks for use on the little serene river by their property. The washrooms and shower are pretty decent for a camping site. Bring bug spray for the evenings. We didn't do the add-on sky show, but heard from another guest the next day that it was amazing and that Tim had hooked her phone up to the telescope to take a video of the moon or something like that as a momento.
K Thom — Google review
My wife and I had a wonderful time with Tim during the observatory session. Although it was cloudy in and out, Tim did his best to be as informative as possible and shared tons of details about our universe. Really eye opening experience about his story and resiliency which he shares with everyone. Most importantly we could see the Milky Way with our naked eye there by just looking up! Truly wonderful experience we recommend to everyone!
Chandan Singh — Google review
Staying at Deep Sky Eye was an unforgettable experience. We booked for one night accommodation at the Sky Bubble (2 guests) and the Nocturnal Sky Theatre experience. Being able to see the night sky while lying in a soft bed was such a unique experience. The sky bubble was spacious and had a heater/aircon, a small table and chairs, a double bed, and bedside tables. Free wifi is available, although it can be a bit spotty, so we were given a walkie-talkie to communicate with Tim/Amanda, the owners. Although it did get a bit chilly at night, it was very warm and cozy in the bubble. The Nocturnal Sky Theatre experience was very enjoyable and we learned a lot from both Tim and Brenda. We even got to see very clear images of the craters of the moon through a telescope. Deep Sky Eye is a must visit if you want a unique experience, a chance to see the night sky away from the light pollutions of the cities, and to learn more about the stars, galaxies, and constellations.
Some tips:
-Bring blankets or a jacket if you’re doing the Nocturnal Sky Theatre experience as the temperature can drop pretty drastically
-Bring a pair of binoculars, if you have one, to see the night sky more clearly
-Explore the grounds, there are many picturesque locations on the grounds with hammocks, chairs, and fire pits available

We stayed in the cabin and were pleasantly surprised by warmth of our welcome. A big thanks to Amanda for providing a variety of snacks including homemade muffins! The presentation that Tim put on was amazing and informative. His enthusiasm for astronomy was contagious. Tim and Amanda went out of their way to ensure everyone enjoyed their experience. It is a must see if you are in the area even worth a special trip.
Tony Riggs — Google review
Both my wife and I have attended several astronomy presentations and Tim's presentation was by far the most informative and exciting. The whole property is so peaceful and Tim and Amanda are so accommodating, going over and above our expectations not only in their presentation, but also their hospitality. Their night sky bubbles are one of the most magical experiences we've ever had and even though it's a bit out of the way, if you want a unique experience and to learn more about our solar system and how to enjoy it, this place is a must visit. We would love to have spend more time there and we intend to return!
My son and I had a wonderful visit today to learn about such an important part of Nova Scotia’s history. The displays and interactive games were well done and we learned a lot about the Black Loyalists and descendants who have settled here and moved on to Africa. We had wonderful conversations with the director and one of the curators of the museum, whom are both descendants of Black Loyalists. We will definitely visit again.
Anette Goodwin — Google review
I'm unsure of where I can begin. If you are going to Nova Scotia you MUST visit Shelbourne and make the drive to the Black Loyalist Heritage Society, it is full of information and history that will make you uncomfortable and is missed in our school textbooks. However needed to fully understand the history and be able to educate younger generations. The artifacts and flow of the museum is amazing. Hailey who was our introduction person was amazing and explained everything we needed to know in depth, she took us to the school house and showed us to the Pit house. While directing us to the church house, we had the pleasure of meeting the Executive Director Andrea who was an absolute pleasure to meet. You can tell by the passion in Andrea's eyes and knowledgeable conversation she is right where she belongs. She has some big plans for the Black Loyalist Heritage Society and was so informative. 10/10 I recommend this as a place to put on your list of things to do.
Chantel Marie — Google review
I am sad to report a poor experience with the museum. I planned a visit and found the doors locked when I arrived. The hours were posted as open online and on the door but no answer. There were cars in the parking lot and I saw activity inside but my knocks went unanswered. There were no signs regarding a private event. I called the office. No answer, left message. I walked to the Black Burial Grounds then called again, no answer, left message, tried to arrange to visit the next day. Those calls have not been returned. Birchtown is a long way out of the way for a lot of potential visitors. I gave it two stars for the outdoor exhibits I was able to experience. I would not visit without calling ahead.
Michelle Anstey — Google review
The historical details were excellent. Everyone should visit.
Sheree Coke — Google review
My parents and I had a really wonderful experience here. One of the guides is a descendant of Black Loyalists in the area, and was so gracious about familiarizing us with the museum and the grounds. She also was willing to answer questions and we had a good chat.
All of the information was so well laid out, and the digital touchscreens really made it easy to explore at our own pace.
Our trip here felt so worthwhile and meaningful.
Adam Shenk — Google review
Wow! What a fantastic find! We had no idea this museum was even here until we followed a geocache to this place. One of the many delights of geocaching. The facility was impressive and clearly maintained by a dedicated staff. The centre promotes the history and heritage of the Black Loyalists and their descendants.
Krista Whitehouse — Google review
$9.20 for entry.
A few minutes after arriving we were given an overview of the museum by one of the docents who also gave us a name of one of the original black loyalists. You could look up this person's name at one of the posts to find out what happened to them from slavery to the settlement of Sierra Leone. My person chose to stay in Nova Scotia and has many present day descendents in the province.
Many interactive screens told of the hardships slaves faced from capture in Africa, the middle journey across the Atlantic Ocean to both north and south America, the life of slavery and the journey to apparent freedom in British colonies only to be met with persecution because of their skin colour and denial of equality.
We walked to the burial ground and to the Anglican church on the property.

Took my wife and teenage sons to this beautiful tribute and memory of our community's Black Loyalist settlers. Shout out to Davey Hartley for our tour and sharing his family's history with us. I'm so proud of my home town and it's history and culture is deeply reflected at this beautiful museum and historic site. To see the names of the ancestors of old friends, their hardships and resilience touched me deeply. Thank you to the great people who built this wonderful place. What a legacy to celebrate your ancestors and contributors to local and provincial culture.

The Shelburne Museums are a true delight! There are 4, 3 on Dock Street Shelburne and 1 in Birch town. The Droy Shop tells the story of how Dory's were the work horse of the fishing industry. At one time Shelburne had 7 Dory shops! Of course the Sydney Mahaney story just adds the this experience!
Next is the Ross-Thompson House. This was the house & business place of the Ross Brothers and them Thompson. The beauty is when the Ross Brothers sold it to the Thompson's they actually sold it to Dorcus the wife! The Shelburne Museums is also fascinating. It is the home to the oldest fire pump truck in Canada! The museum does it's best to change up the exhibits every year.
Birch Town is home to The Black Loyalist museum. This wonderful little museum is quite the find!! Please do not overlook this gem!
Thomas Raddall Provincial Park is a wonderful place to camp, with beautiful beaches and hiking trails. It is important to remember to bring bug spray when camping here as the area can be quite mosquito-ridden in the summer months.
At first as we drove into the park we wondered if we were heading into the backwoods.
The access road is gravel, and several kilometers long.
The campground is pretty bare bones, but most of the sites are treed and there is a reasonable amount of privacy.
The washrooms are how to put it nicely.... disgusting and in need of major refurbishment.
Cracked and dirty tiles, loose toilets, toilet stall doors that have brocken lock slides etc....
However the redeeming factor, and what makes this park worth visiting is the beaches.
Amazing, beautiful and very tranquil.
That is if you can make it through the mosquito infested trails.
They should look into improving the park, but then I guess that might attract more people and ruin those beautiful sandy beaches.

Our favorite place to camp, multiple large beaches and trails, and beautiful sites. Just remember your bug spray

Beautiful location - Park was closed so hiked in an easy 3.5kms along the park road to Sandy Bay Beach with beautiful late Autumn colours - A must see!

Bugs bugs and more bugs! Other than always having to swat away these buggers on the walk in, the history and protected beach were wonderful! The piping plovers are so sweet, the seals and cormorants were neat too! A fun place for exploring and the geology was surprisingly diverse!

If you are coming with little kids, you want Scotch Point Beach. It’s fabulous: protected and shallow with warm water. Park by Site 32, it’s a 5-10min walk in. The signage to the beach is terrible: go right at the first fork, left at the second, go to the beach on the left.
Hanah Chapman — Google review
A family nice and quite trail, 5 to 10 min walk, finish in a beautiful surrounded beach for swimming and play

Great park with plenty of beaches and walking trails! Loved having my morning coffee on the bench at Scotch point!
My only wishes would be to have cedar mulch on the tent platforms to help keep the ticks away and full length mirrors in the shower so I could make sure none had bitten me!

Found some great camping sites in here while we visited for a picnic. No power but great for tenting. We would definitely come back again but probably in the later end of summer. We were there in the middle of summer and the mosquitos were going to carry us away. Brutal. However, as I sad, we found some great sites, so I think camping would be fun there. Very well laid out and maintained.
Krista Whitehouse — Google review
Very close to Keji seaside adjunct. Lots of good sites but do some research beforehand or give them a call at the actual park to ask about sites (69 has a view of the ocean and is pretty private). Wood is cheap and so it ice (2.50$/bag). Ok beaches but super buggy.
Andrew Matthews — Google review
Great private lots. Clean bathrooms. Unfortunately hot water was not working at the comfort station dish washing station.
Faye Goodwin — Google review
I went yesterday for sunset and hiked all the trails.
Some really nice beaches. Some of the trails are obviously going to need a lot of tlc come spring when the park reopens as there are plenty of trees that fell down.
Be forewarned that with the gate closed you have to walk (or bike if you have the foresight to bring one) around 3 kilometres from the gate to the main park entrance at this time of year.
John Galloway — Google review
Beautiful park. I stayed at a group site, but hope to go back and check out a walk in site. With three beaches, over 11k worth of trails and keji seaside nearby there is lots to do.
I'm grateful for the shelter with wood stove that was near the group site, as it rained for 60 of the 70 hours we were there.

The Kejimkujik National Park is a wonderful place to camp and explore. The park has hundreds of campsites with different amenities, perfect for any type of camping. There are backcountry and front country campsites available, as well as solo camping, RV camping, tents, oTENTIK tents, cabin accommodation, yurt accommodations and ground camping. You can also enjoy activities such as hiking, biking and kayaking in the beautiful surroundings of the park.
We were there before "Corona time" and had taken an extensive hike to the beach. Good shoes help and you should bring some time with you - but it's worth to do. Everything that follows is pure enjoyment and hits your soul. You get unbelievable impressions back - white sand, sea surf, seals, seagulls ... a place we haven't forgotten - a "must see" - pure nature at it´s best !!!!

Beautiful spot. Lots of mosquitoes. We looked like dorks in our big shirts (mosquito netting shirts) but it was worth it. We saw deer, large rabbits, seals and a bear. There’s a wonderful beach but the weather wasn’t the best for a beach day. We did the loop, which I highly recommend. A great walk/hike and not very challenging.
Sylvia Perry — Google review
From the highway you drive along a gravel road to the parking lot of the national park. The National Park at Seaside does not charge an entrance or parking fee. There is also no ranger.
Once there, there is an information board with a brochure and warning signs about the animals. One walks through a path to the beach. To the right and left of the path is brush. After a little less than 20 minutes you are on the beach. In front of the beach there is a viewing platform with a view of the beach. The paths are well paved.
Unfortunately, we did not walk the whole circuit, because we had a light mosquito plague. We have found bear tracks along the way. Had the mosquitoes not been so many we would have definitely spent more time there and also we would have walked the whole path.

I have been wanting to go to this park for years and we finally got the chance to go there. Fantastic location. Great trails. Good facilities. And such beautiful nature, it really lives up to its name and its promise. The park has COVID-19 restrictions posted all over the park and everything was perfectly cared for and managed.

Have so looked forward to coming here after moving to Nova Scotia.
Although only stayed a couple hours and only did a few kilometre hike I can tell what an amazing place this will be to come to hike and relax.
Saw some habour seals cavorting close to shore, climbed around some of the shore rocks and of course sat on the red chairs.
Looking forward to coming back to explore more since there's a lot left to see.
5 stars for sure.
Did I say it was free to get in too!

This is a beautiful hike and Catherine River is one of the nicest beaches on the south shore. The coastline views are increíble and the hiking trail is an easy hike for all capabilities. The mosquitoes really took it to us so make sure you bring big spray. Lots of wildlife so make sure you bring binoculars if you have them. There’s an outhouse halfway through the loop but not much else so make sure you bring water, food etc. Park was pretty dirty but only at the actual garbage cans.

This park is sensational. We've been here on the hard trail (9km) which wasn't hard at all. During this time we spotted a black bear in a distance, deer 2 meters away, many birds, a small snake, black cormorants, seals and absolutely spectacular view of the seaside. This hike is on the top of hikes I have taken in my whole life.

This is an outstanding natural reserve. The beautifulness of this place is unbelievable. For the first mile or so you will walk across a nice, wind brushed area of bushes before the view opens up to a stunning Atlantic ocean. Best is to take the hike to the Harbour Rocks Trail (5km return) which will likely also reward you with seal sightings. Make sure you continue beyond the lookout point with the two red Muskoka chairs onto the white beach which makes this hike perfect. Be aware that facilities are limited to a dump toilet close to the beach and apparently black bear encounters are rather common.

Lovely park. The 9k took us about 4.5 hours stopping constantly for photos and taking our sweet time. Worth it. The early morning fog in August made it calm, quiet, and serene. The afternoon sun gave it some heat and I forgot my sunblock; don't forget yours! Do take water.
If you love Hank Snow, or if you're into classic country western singers, or if you have Canadian music pride, or if you're into trains and old stations, or if you're interested in local celebrity and history then this is definitely the place for you to check out!!
2019 admission rates are very modest, $5 for adults $4 for seniors. personally, I suggest paying the admission and then giving them a donation as well. It's very difficult for Museum like this to stay open in today's economic climate.
the Hank Snow museum is located inside the old Liverpool Nova Scotia train station. The train station was decommissioned in the early 1980s. Because Hank Snow was from this area and because Hank Snow enjoyed the railroad and actually spent a lot of time hanging out in a local Railroad station, it was just super appropriate to have the museum in the station.
it's not a huge Museum but it is very thorough and it's not just Hank Snow, it also pays tribute to other Canadian country western singers. Very interesting, I actually didn't realize we had so many talented singers that came from this area of the world.
A very thorough depiction of Hank Snow's life and rise to fame and is personal life and a great collection of some of the outfits he wore and then a small room also devoted to the train station and some Railway history.
The curator was super friendly and really funny and she was a delight. So sorry not to have caught her name but she said she's been working there for 10 years and she was a lovely person to meet. Great gift shop as well, we were happy to drop some money there and support the museum :-)

Country music lovers or not, this is a great little museum. It is also the Nova Scotia Country music Hall of Fame. Many country music artists were born in NS and there are some interesting pieces of history all contained in an old railway station.

I tried to visit on a Sunday. Google has the hours, but I called their number to make sure. Their message chops off just as they are listing Sat-Sun hours. I went the to the museum, no hours posted. Their web site does not list their hours either. Three people were waiting for it to open, but it did not. I guess I'll never know if someone was late or if the Google hours are wrong. Post your hours at the door, and on your website!

Fort Point Lighthouse Park is located in Liverpool, a charming town on the South Shore region. The lighthouse has a unique shape and houses a visitor center with exhibits. It's situated in a quaint neighborhood with old century homes and offers beautiful views of the ocean. The park features mature trees, benches, and is a nice spot for a peaceful walk. Visitors can enjoy watching seals play and fishing boats come and go out to sea in this serene setting.
A nice short little walk from downtown Liverpool. Nice views of the ocean and a quaint little park too. The lighthouse is open in the summer time, so you can go inside to take a look around.

We were just here. It is nice little place to take a rest in liverpool. We just were on the road for about an hour and a half and it's far enough out of the way that it's quiet and restful but it's close enough to everything that it's actually very convenient.
The one downside is, we didn't know that it was cash only so because we don't carry cash, we had no way to make a purchase

The Ross Farm Museum is a living history venue that provides visitors with a glimpse into life on a farm from 150 years ago. Captain William Ross settled there with 172 disbanded soldiers in 1816. The museum offers various displays and buildings that take visitors back in time, including a real working operation with a dairy barn, oxen pulls, and wagon rides on its 60-acre farm. Friendly and knowledgeable staff are always available to answer questions about the bygone era.
One of my favourite museums in the NS Museum family. So much to see and do. I’ve always loved the time period portrayed at the museum. Seems like a much more simpler time where hard work meant something and family and community meant a lot. My GF has family ties to the barrel making history in Chester Basin so we always like talking to the Coopers and the Sawyers in the mill. Would love to see them add more to the village, maybe a church a lumber cutting sawmill. They’ve done a lot to add to the experience over the years so I’m sure there’s more to come. Be sure to check out the pumpkin planting. 😊

Visited in September 2023 whilst staying in Chester. We were extremely impressed with our visit - the facilities are well maintained and it was a pleasure being able to interact one-on-one with so many of the staff here. Appreciated the carriage ride and also grabbed a few drinks and snacks from the cafe.

Staff is very welcoming and knowledgeable about everything on site. We took our 2 year old in the fall and this winter. He loved the animals and on the horse ride the gentleman driving the cart remembered my sons name. Which definitely made it special for him. Worth a drive to New Ross, it shows the kids what people used to live like and they can see and pet animals. We will be visiting at least once a season.

Very nice museum that takes you back in a moment in history. It took me to a completely different place down memory lane, my grandma's farm. This place is so peaceful, you get to pet animals, look at old farm equipment and houses, and learn from knowledgeable staff who are ready to share a lot of interesting information. We went on Canada Day and even got to try delicious cake! The wagon ride was a great tour of the place and kids, and adults loved it. We went on a hot day, so grab sunscreen and water on a summer day.

We had a pleasant day with our kids at Ross Farm. The only downside was, we didn’t budget enough time! We were most impressed with the friendly, helpful who were very patient and knowledgeable in answering all of our questions, many of which I’m sure they already answered 10x that day :). We will be back!

Loved all the historical buildings, artifacts, and costumes, and the staff was informative and friendly. Wagon ride was fun and my 3 and 5 year old loved it! I’m glad I left my 2 year old at home as you’d need a stroller, etc, so that age is a bit young for this (in my opinion).

What a wonderful museum. I am a cooper by trade and to come to a place with such deep knowledge of the trade, I was absolutely in heaven. Thanks Christopher for showing my partner and I around the site. We had a wonderful time. The visit to Ross Farms was a highlight of our trip to the Eastern provinces. A true delight.

Fun museum to explore and connect with nature. It’s open year round a most of the activities are situated outdoors. There is a wagon ride included with your admission of only $10. As we went to visit on a cold winter day, there were some portions that were closed off until the spring. We enjoyed exploring the captain’s house the most and speaking with the three ladies dressed in old timey attires and asking them questions about the house and the family who lived there. Not to mention the house was so warm, heated using the oven and the fireplace. We even got to try a ginger cookie and also some hot chocolate. There are also animals on the farm from sheep, oxen, chicken, pig, and rooster. It’s a really fun place to visit and spend a few hours and great for families or couples to get into nature and experience the olden times.

Ross Farm is definitely a few steps back time. I believe the 100 years from 1816 to 1916. Described as an “upland farm” it really reminded of the similar farm that my great-grandparents built in the foot hills of North Carolina. Everyone was knowledgeable about farm life during that time period. It was an education and pleasure to attend. Well worth the drive.

My boyfriend and I went to Ross Farm for Valentine's Day. It was beautifully quiet and absolutely serene with the snow on the ground from a few days prior snow fall. The staff were all fantastic. We were always greeted with smiles and kind eyes. A special shout out to Pete and Wade and the lovely lady doing the spinning demo (forgive me I forgot to ask your name) - these staff are absolutely lovely and provided my boyfriend and I with great conversation about real life of past and present times.
The animals were all friendly from sheep to horses to a very social barn cat. The Canadian horse drawn sleigh ride through the Snow trails was beautiful and perfect for our romantic day.
Thank you to all the staff and your contributions to making out weekend a little more special. We both haven't been back to Ross Farm since we were children but we certainly weren't disappointed, in fact, we appreciated it a lot more. The future is the past - keep up the great work at honoring our traditional heritage and culture. ❤️
The Fisheries Museum of the Atlantic in Nova Scotia is a seasonal museum that showcases the rich fishing history and maritime culture of the province. The museum features an aquarium, historic boats, and interactive exhibits that cover all aspects of fishery life, including the traditional fishing practices of the Mikmaq people. Visitors can learn about various aspects of fishing traditions through stories and artifacts showcased in different galleries. The museum is suitable for visitors of all ages and can be explored thoroughly within one to two hours.
Great spot. Been coming here since I was a kid. Lots of info and things to learn. Always love going to see Theresa E. Connor, Cape Sable and the Bluenose when she’s in.

It was a great learning experience. The staff are super nice. I love how there have been small changes made to accommodate and attract children. I loved it here, and spent more time than I had planned.
The only suggestion is an improvement in the aquarium section where children can interact with the creature. There should be more creatures there. It was really exciting for the children.

We opted to have a look at this museum which was three floors.
3rd was about the Bluenose 1
2nd was about the fishing village and the evolution of the industry.
1st was more the wildlife/sea life of the Atlantic.
Also included in the admission was a tour of the Theresa E Connor schooner.
If you have CAA you save on admission overall.
We had only 30 mins to tour before they closed so we did a very quick tour of both and didn’t make it through everything.

When we first approached the entrance I did not expect much. When we walked into the aquarium part I was blown away! It was really good with a wide variety of sealife. My young grandkids literally ran from on display to the next. Then we moved into the main display area. There was so much to see that we spent two hours there. My grandkids favorite displays were the dioramas. I found the entire setup very informative and interesting. We ended with a walking tour of the Bluenose 2, a sailboat permanently docked by the museum. It is well worth the trip.

A must do item for those interested in the lore of the life on the Atlantic Fisheries. The only negative was the reconstruction on the Bluenose II and the other museum owned fishing boat which prevented us from touring the boats and we were looking forward to exploring the boats first hand. Otherwise, an extensive museum, plan at least a couple of hours, more if you want to watch the videos and movies available and there were numerous. We learned how to dress out a cod in an extensive video by a man who clearly had expertise in fish processing. There is history of Norwegians who trained there in WWII and the losses of ships due to German submarines. There is a live aquarium, there are knowledgeable staff standing around for questions. There is a restaurant in the museum although not part of the museum, which serves some of the best fish we have ever had and was recommended by a native NS person. The setting is adorable historic Lunenburg and there is much to see and do besides the museum. The museum provides a wrist bracelet which allows one to leave for coffee or lunch then return. We had coffee and scones then returned to the museum in the afternoon. And the most touching item is the memorial to the ships lost and the hands lost over the years.

My husband and I spent part of our day at the museum and were pleasantly surprised at the number of artifacts and displays. The staff were amazing especially Tina for her talk on the Theresa E Conner and Nancy on the second floor for her personal stories of fishing life in her family. St. John's Anglican Church in Lunenburg is the second oldest Protestant church in Canada, with a rich history steeped in the Anglican tradition dating back to 1754. Sadly, disaster struck when it was destroyed by a fire on October 31, 2001. However, with great resilience and determination, the congregation voted to restore the church to its original condition prior to the fire. Reconstruction began immediately and was completed by June of 2005.
Such a beautiful church. It tells the history of the fire that the church has that destroyed everything and there’s a tour guide there to tell you more if you ask. Stained glass is on all walls and the balcony has the Lords Prayer and the 10 commandments written down. Definitely recommend if you love history & religion. The glass is absolutely beautiful

St. John’s Anglican Church in Lunenburg, which dates from 1754, is the second oldest protestant church in Canada. St. John’s has a rich history in the Anglican tradition. Disaster struck on the evening of October 31, 2001, when the Church was destroyed by a fire. With remarkable fortitude the Church congregation voted to restore St. John’s to its original condition prior to the fire, and reconstruction at the site began almost immediately. St. John’s has been fully restored and was re-opened in June of 2005. The Gothic architecture is amazing. Beautiful exterior and interior it is great for photographers. Beautiful ornate church, which was rebuilt after a devastating fire that practically burnt down the building back in 2001.
You would never know if you were not told that what you're looking at was not original to this 1753 church!
We learned so much from our guide Andrew. He was very detailed and knowledgeable about the church and its history.
We were told that the pews and the wood floor were the only parts of the building that were saved. Also one of the stained glass windows was remade from the broken pieces collected by the Lunnenburg residents nest the bay in the water runoff from the fire fighters water used to extinguish the fire!
If the Crypt and the balcony is open, do not miss the opportunity to checkout.
Overall, if you're near lunnenburg, this is a must stop!

St. John's Anglican Church is a beautiful and historic church located in Lunenburg, Nova Scotia. It was founded in 1753 and is the second oldest continuous Protestant church in present-day Canada. The church is a popular tourist destination and is also a vibrant and welcoming community of faith.
The church building is a fine example of Georgian architecture. It is made of wood and has a steeple that rises 100 feet above the ground. The interior of the church is spacious and airy, with a high ceiling and large windows that let in plenty of natural light. The walls are lined with stained glass windows that depict scenes from the Bible.
The church offers a variety of services and programs throughout the week, including Sunday morning worship, Bible studies, and youth groups. The church also has a strong commitment to social justice and works to help those in need in the community.
If you are looking for a beautiful and historic church to visit in Nova Scotia, St. John's Anglican Church is a great option. The church is also a welcoming and vibrant community of faith that is open to all.
Our guide was super helpful and very knowledgeable.

The gift shop Bluenose II Company Store on board the ship is a great place to buy souvenirs and maritime supplies. It's staffed by friendly staff who can help you have some fun and loosen up two ladies when buying a weatherproof coat. The store promotes the legacy of the original Bluenose ship, which is an important part of Nova Scotia's history.
The event of our summer vacation! A three hour morning cruise in excellent windy conditions was a blast. Crew were fantastic, knowledgeable and ever present for questions and to help.
Advice: 1) Dress for cooler the expected conditions.
2)Book early (months seriously) as space for only 67 passengers and large waiting list and walkups turned away.

Came here to check out the Bluenose 2 merchandise. The company store is a nonprofit. The proceeds that the store makes goes to funding the Bluenose 2.
I saw some traveling YouTubers go to the Bluenose 2 Company Store and get some t-shirts. I figured that this store would have hoodies too, so I came here to get a hoodie.
And I have successfully gotten a white light hoodie with the words Bluenose 2 and Nova Scotia written on it. Merchandise gotten. It was expensive lol. It came to a total of around $57.

My wife, daughter and I drove from Greenwood to see this beautiful ship. We were not disappointed we were able to board and take pictures in front of her iconic bow. Our only regret is not being able to sail on her serving as one of the deckhands. Hopefully next year. Great historical venue, amazing products and huge range. Meg looked after us very well, telling awesome stories about how each of the products came to be. Definitely worth a visit!

Great location in an old blacksmith shop in beautiful Lunenberg. Staff very friendly and knowledgeable. Tastings are offered for free - 3 per person of whatever you pick. Cool place, very small and "homey". You can sample and buy their products right on site, although they don't necessarily have it all in inventory (e.g. their super gin was nowhere to be found, NSLC in Bridgewater had it). Service was friendly and knowledgeable. I recommend this place.

Very cool, cozy stop while in Nova Scotia. Try the one with Rhubarb! Just don't try too much unless you want to waddle around the rest of the day. Good flavors, unusual combinations you cannot find in other places.

Although you could declare this as a shop, the staff gives you tons of information how their produce is made AND you can experience it by yourself. The classic smell of a wood burning distillery, the ambience in this 100+ year old building, the old distillery itself, the fine bottles which are displayed, the recipes you can grab and try at home.... we really enjoyed our stay and we tried some of the "good stuff". And yes: It is good! Recommended for interested persons - and you can definitely learn something about the distillery. Try the maple rum and the maple cream rum. You won't be disappointed.

Loved this place. Bought a bunch of gin and vodka to take home. People were friendly, chatty and gave us a lot of information about the distillery that endeared us so much to make several purchases. Apparently, all the ingredients are entirely local. And they have these sophisticated distilling devices custom made in Germany. And, I think the building (historically) used to be a blacksmith.
Located next to the famous Ovens cliffs and sea caves, this South Shore Nova Scotian campground also has 75 camping sites available that offer beautiful panoramic ocean views. The campground is well spaced out with natural borders (trees, rocks) to create a sense of privacy for tenters.
LOVED my trip to the ovens. I’m shocked it did not come up on my search of what to see when visiting Nova Scotia. I had a neighbour recommend heading here and we loved every minute. It was $12 per person. Based on the sites we were able to see I have no issue paying that price. The staff was informative and gave us all the info we needed for a self guided tour. The trail was so clean. It honestly is so beautiful. When I have the opportunity to in the future I would love to camp here.

They pan for gold on the beach for an additional charge. Daily entrance fee is $12. For an adult. There is a small pool you can use but no lifeguard so watch little ones.
Had a lovely supper in the Restaurant it opens around 5.30pm, also live music playing, just a really nice day.

The beautiful sea cliff trail that leads to the famous Ovens Sea caves for which the park was named "Ovens Natural Park" alongside the North Atlantic Ocean, in the Province of Nova Scotia. The park has got camp grounds, RV camps, and massive parking space for the trail hikers. The hike is a moderate one, with many picnic tables and benches to take rest. The sea caves are absolutely spectacular. On a fine sunny day you can see dolphins jumping near the coast. I would highly recommend a visit for everyone.
The Park has got a fascinating gold rush history, unique geology and diverse coastal environment.

This is a belated review from Fall 2023. The tent campsites along the water have stunning views of the ocean. There is no tree/shade coverage, but in the Fall we were not too hot and there was a breeze. The hiking trail is not adventurous, but it is a beautiful walk on a bluff above the shore with unique rock features.

The property itself is amazing with the hiking trails and views. It is well maintained. The bathrooms were easily accessed from our site and had good lighting and low bugs. Thankfully there was a restaurant on site as we were there during a fire ban and were unable to do our usually open fire cooking. Despite this, there were others having fires and it was not reinforced by the staff for them to put them out. The site was a good size and we had water and electricity available. The kids had a blast playing in the shale by the water. Though we were not planning on using the restaurant, we did find that it was well priced with good options and the entertainment was great.

We have camped at the Ovens Natural Park two years in a row in our motorhome. The location is outstanding the and the oceanside camping spaces provide awesome views and the sound of the waves. Just fantastic. And if you don't camp, they have cottages for rent.
This is privately owned beauty that is being preserved for all to enjoy. It is owned and operated by Steve and Angel Chapin. Steve is a musician, playing in/musical director of the band for Harry Chapin.
The trails are very well maintained with stairs leading down and into the caves. The numbered spots along the trail are tied into and explained on the map that you receive. Try to time you visits with the tides comin in or in to get the maximum sound effect out of the caves.
The beach area is easy to access and you can pan for gold, as this was one of the sites during the 1861 gold rush.
And it's centrally located and a good "home base" for day trips to Nova Scotia's south shore. Lunenberg, Mahone Bay, Bridgewater, and other small town are an easy drive from The Ovens with fun and unique things to do and places to eat in each place (I highly recommend the Carding Museum in Bridgewater).
Save you appetite for an evening meal back at the Ovens, enjoying great food at the Miners Diner right there on the property. Not only do you have a great meal, the chef/cook, Jonathan Chapin, is also a musician. Steve and other guests play every night in the Miner's Diner and Jon joins them after the kitchen closes. It's a fun, intimate experience for great food and wonderful entertainment after an exhilarating day exploring.
And if you eat there around the dates of the annual Chapin Family Concert in Lunenberg, you will find the whole family joining in the fun at the restaurant.

I went as a family with three kids. So our admission to the park was in the neighborhood of $40+ and that's just admission. Now the hike and cave exploration was pretty cool and we really enjoyed it. This was not a good price to pay for just a hike. So we decided to spend some more money, on Gold panning. Again more money, but another hour of fun activity with anticipation.
Had we not discovered the absolutely fantastic pool at the site which was included, this would have been a 2 or 3 star max. But the pool really pushed it over the edge and the kids had a blast there.
For money value, $12 per person is too much to pay for the trail, especially for 5 people!! You guys need a family admission for $30 or something.

They do not accept “Indian Status Card” for entry due to being a private park. Sadly, they display stolen Mi’Kmaq artifacts.
Entry without charge to Nova Scotia's national historic sites and national parks has been implemented and is a small step toward reconciliation. The Ovens chose not to participate.

This is a great family place to stop for a morning or afternoon. The short walk around the Park encompasses some great scenery and amazing geology. Afterward, we did some gold panning on the beach and found three flakes of gold, which made a great souvenir. The restaurant serves simple but tasty takeaway for lunch, and we had dinner in the restaurant, which was delicious with fantastic live music most days of the week during the summer. Highly recommended!

We visited the Ovens Natural Park on a day pass. It was really cool to be able to see the sea cave “ovens” from above and below the escarpment, and even go inside some of them. The trails and stairs are all really well-maintained. There’s a little rocky beach, picnic area, and pool. The general store/museum was fun to wander through and the bathrooms were clean and easy to get to. We thought it was odd that the Ovens trail is privately owned with an entry fee, but we really enjoyed our visit. It’s an absolutely beautiful place.

Thoroughly enjoyed viewing the caves! We loved that this park was not overflowing with tourists, we were able to view everything semi-privately! The highlight of our vacation so far, and would recommend.
We were impressed by the camping facilities and would love to come back to camp here one day!

The location is awesome and the views are beautiful. But this campground has the worst cancellation policy I’ve ever encountered. We had to go a day later and leave two days early because of weather. And there is a zero refund policy. So we paid over $400 for two nights. Not only that, my children were charged $30 to come into the park for supper. They could not camp with us but came down to have dinner after their shift as we only live a little over an hour away. I would hesitate to rebook here because of this.

The caves are neat, it’s a great place to take visiting guests, but I think the campground itself is a bit run down. So are some of the trails.
Jan Burns — Google review
Nice walk and nice views of the caves. I would say it's more of a walk than a hike (with a few stairs). It's to go check it out, if you have never been. Therefore, I found the entrance fees high (27$ for to adults) and we spent 40 minutes there. The camp grounds have nice lots surrounded by trees and a nice pool but the prices are high for the amenities that come with it.
Graves Island Provincial Park is a spacious campground with 92 sites, including walk-in options for spontaneous campers. The park offers various activities such as boating, fishing, hiking, and swimming. With excellent facilities and ample space for group camping adventures, it's an ideal destination. Additionally, the park's proximity to other attractions makes day trips convenient and enjoyable.
A really good park to go. We can see wonderful sceneries and meet friendly people. It will be perfect if the restrooms are open in winter.

One of the hidden gems in south shore. The roofed picnic tables facing Mahone Bay offer great spots for sitting in and letting my thoughts wandering. We had a great downtime here chatting about good things running in our family.

Great little park. Easy walking trail. Could probably be navigated with one of those power carts during open season for older or disabled people. Would be a great place for dogs during of season when no campers as well.

Beautiful spot to go camping. We stayed at a non-electric site and the upkeep to each site was impressive. Lots of room for all your camping needs. The trail that circles the island is easy walking, great views, and has ample loads of blackberry and raspberries to consume. The staff were great and offer really nice dry hardwood and kindling for your fires.

This is such a beautiful, quiet and understated park. I have no idea why I haven't been before, but we will definitely be back.

This is one of the most beautiful camp grounds I've been to. Excellent layout and the sites were very private. The staff were friendly and helpful.
I took off 1 star only because the bathrooms, which seem to be cleaned often are well overdue for an upgrade. Also should consider doing something about the spider webs inside the building. There was no paper towel dispenser, just multiple soggy rolls on the counter. The air dryer in the women's room did not seem to work.
Also the wood for sale was soaked and impossible to burn. Almost every vacant campsite had unburned wood left behind because it was useless. Time to invest in a shed.
Overall, it was a great experience and we will be back!

Cleanest campsite we have ever had. Very small park but that just means that it is nice and quiet. We enjoyed our time there. Beach is VERY small, but the park is small too, so it was never crowded while we were there. The only downside is that the main comfort station really needs an update.

On a whistle stop tour of Nova Scotia, we stayed in the Campground.
Of the three campgrounds we used on our trip Graves was by far the nicest, most well maintained and thought out park.
Great Sunsets & Sunrises. A tiny beach, beautiful views and a walking trail didn't hurt either.
There were mosquitoes in the early morning and evening but way less than we encountered elsewhere.
Convenient location for stores and amenities.

Awesome park! It was our first camping experience and it did not let us down at all!
Staff were 100% present and friendly, cleaning the park quite often due to COVID-19. They were accepting card for firewood and ice payments. Only people with reservation could enter the campgrounds (there is a barrier for cars. No barrier or control over people walking inside park, just as a side note).
At first we reserved serviced site 23 but, due to lack of privacy (we were there for the nature) we changed, without ANY issues (thanks staff!) to site 84, which was perfect for us.
Park has a great infrastructure and it is beautifully maintained, with nice trails and beautiful views. I can only note down the water access: only on the opened area of the park and in the middle of the seaweed and on the reserved area, only water accessible if you'd adventure yourself through the cliffs (I guess you cannot go against mother nature sometimes eh!?).

Very nice Campground overall. We came with a 30feet RV and had a great spot with power and water and ocean view. Distance to other RVs is rather big. Good opportunity for campfire.
The beach is ok but nothing special. We had no bugs and it was quiet.

Home of our summer time family gatherings. Been coming here for years. The park has so much to offer from camping to day picnics, hiking, swimming, large yards for outdoor gatherings or play. Shelters to keep you out of the rain. So much to do!

Lush, quiet and lots of trees and vegetation next to the ocean. Sites are mostly level with lots of room. We loved watching and hearing the Yellow Warblers, which were plentiful.

Provincially run campground, well maintained. Pleasant and accommodating staff. Dump station is near the exit, washrooms are decent but could do with an update. A dishwashing station is located just outside the washrooms. Full hook-up and unserviced sites available. Sites are fairly level. Not much tree cover though and privacy is above average. The campground has a nice trail leading to the water where you can see ducks swim and nice landscapes of the open water. About 45 minutes from Halifax and close to Peggy’s Cove.
Pete Luckett's Luckett Vineyards is an award-winning vineyard with easy-drinking wines that offers a scenic hillside location, excellent dining menu and hospitality.
A highlight of our trip through Nova Scotia and PEI. Beautiful landscape and gardens, great service, and delicious things to sip and eat! We went home with 4 bottles and a variety of artisan goods (candles, snacks). We phoned our kids from the red phone booth in the vineyard, it was adorable. Definitely recommend stopping in, but go early - we were told it gets quite busy with tours later in the day.

Based on a local friend's recommendation, we stopped by Luckett Vineyards for wine tasting. We arrived around lunch time and decided to have lunch as well. We were seated at the tent which has a propane heater so it was good even it was only 9c today. The staff were super friendly and the food was delicious and not overpriced. The phone booth on the vineyard is good for a selfie.

Had a great time visiting the vineyard! The wine tasting was very be affordable for 12$. The selections was pretty good. My favorite was their white and rose wine selections.
The bistro was decent! No wait time.
We had the charcuterie board which was delicious. We ordered the fries and as someone reviewed before, they are good but over seasoned which made it hard for me to heat the fries half way through the dish. I'd still recommend coming to the winery!

I am being generous because the food was greatly lacking. The mussels we got have been fresher in Ontario and this is right beside where you get them from. The service in the tasting flight was good, really loved the product he is selling. The buried wine has a great back story to it…bought 3 to enjoy at home. Oh and the gardens….wow a thing of beauty.

Absolutely gorgeous setting with views across the valley.
Well maintained dining area and tasting room.
Seems to be a well oiled machine.
We visited on the weekend and it was insanely busy with a long queue to purchase products in the store.
Wait times to be seated for food were short and food promptly arrived.
My wifes drink took forever to appear, she was almost done eating before it arrived.
I ordered the steak pie dish and it was a little underwhelming, while I know you can't produce a fully cooked from scratch pie in 15 minutes it did seem like it was pre cooked and then finished to serve. The flavor was a little bland. Which is disappointing as we were looking forward to trying it.
The fries that came with it were however awesome.
The staff seemed nice but a little run off their feet.
Worth a visit if only for the wine and views.

While it was one of the most pretty wineries, the food service was closed during open hours and the bar staff at the wine tasting service were apathetic and unenthusiastic. The worst experience of all our wine tastings in the region. Their Rose's all taste similar. The tidal vintage was very refreshing and tasty and the red phone booth was a unique element that had many people trying for pictures. Extremely commercialized. If the bistro is open, it might be worth the visit but the wine leaves me wanting.

Great experience! Food, wine, staff, view, everything impeccable. Such an amazing day.
There was a waiting time of about 20 mins, even mid week. And they don’t take reservation. Better get there early to avoid the line.

Incredible view to match the incredible hospitality! We recently attended the drag show here and had the best time. The service was above and beyond, the food delicious with super generous portions, and the phone box rosé was refreshing and delicious. I highly recommend planning your visit to coincide with the "golden hour" just as the sun starts to go down over the valley.

A must stop for the area. Whether you love wine, food or a good atmosphere, you will enjoy your time here. Lunch was lovely and along with a short tour and wine tasting, it was a complete experience. The store has a variety of wines, books, memorabilia and more for wine fans. Strongly recommended. Be sure to check out the red phone booth of soon-to-be international fame.

We visited Luckett Vineyards this past weekend and we were both very pleased with our experience! We did the wine tasting and lunch at the winery. We loved the wines.. I especially enjoyed their Tidal Bay wine. It was raining quite heavily so we didn’t spend much time outside, but we would love to return to be able to walk around the vineyard more.
Nadine Lovell — Google review
Beautiful winery with a large and bright tasting room that is adjacent to their restaurant. Came on a Monday during grad week, so it was very busy for the restaurant side, but the tasting side was quiet. The lovely young lady pouring for us knew most of the tasty notes, so was able to keep the conversation going. The wines were all bright and acidic (non-reds tasted) with a fun red phone booth in the vineyard that was actually from the UK. Not my fav in the region as I found the ones I tried lacked depth. Will try the premiums next time. I did buy the cans and boy were they fun. The bubbly rose was an easy crowd pleaser. The wine spritzers were well balanced and so easy to drink on a hot summer day or in your backpack to enjoy after a hike as they are in the 250 mL can format.
Lunch: Very tasty sandwiches that gave satisfying bites. A small incident with the chowder, but the server was quick to fix. It was a very busy day so food took a bit and with only 3 servers, patience was needed. Luckily at the end, they pulled staff from the tasting room to support the servers as they were running. Overall a tasty lunch with great view into the vineyard as the room was bright with high ceilings.

We had high expectations for Luckett Vineyards as we heard about this place from different sources and they all have enjoyed it. The wine tasting and the ambiance were both excellent. For an affordable price of just $12, we were able to try out different wines straight from the winery! I really enjoyed their selection of white wine, especially the Riesling. However, the bistro was extremely disappointing. Wait time was slightly longer than expected, especially when we went after lunch rush hours, around 2 pm. The appetizer (breadboard and salad) were both decent. The biggest issue we had were the entrees and the fries. Seafood chowder was mediocre at best, as we could taste the fishiness. The brisket + Pickle sando was very bland, and the baguette bread used for the sandwich was very hard to bite into. Seasoning issue was also present in Tomato + Avo sandwich. The dealbreaker for us was the fries that came with in both dishes. They were both extremely over seasoned, as the picture shows. Very disappointing experience.

Very nice winery in Wolfsville. Situated overlooking Minas Basin and has gained a tourist magnet with the phone booth. The wines are relatively expensive, but the quality speaks for itself. Would be happy to find this also in Europe.
Unfortunately, the bistro and the store is only open until 4/5 pm. Dinner a little later would have been nice. Maybe then on the next visit.

What a great place! The three hour time window starts after you’ve gotten your gear and training (they write the time you’re due back on your wristband). My teens loved it, and completed all the beginning and intermediate courses. The washroom across a parking lot, and would eat up a lot of your time to gear down, walk to, walk back and gear up again. Bring bug spray during the spring and summer. If you’re not participating you can sit at their picnic tables, or walk the various trails around the routes or the cross country ski trails. For roughly $50 per person including gloves and tax, I thought it was very good value.

The park is fun. It’s maybe not as well maintained as the various similar places across Canada, but the variety is pretty special. It would be cool if the closing time on google was also the closing time in real life. We arrived around 3 and got started around 3:15. We were told that we’d only have about 2 hours and 45 minutes in order to make closing time. That made sense to us. After that they wrote “5:45” on our wristbands. That was explained to us as being their real closing time. We had already paid by this point, so we just rolled with it. It was a little before 5:00 when we first noticed that the routes were being closed off. Now I was annoyed, because the advertised closing time was more than a hour later than the time they actually closed their routes. I commented on it briefly while handing my gear in, and a bigger older guy tried to explain that if they actually closed at the advertised time (6pm), some employees would have to stay a little bit later than that. You know, like the exact same way all the other service companies operate? My partner left a much nicer comment, and the owner responded poorly, giving an explanation that not only was inaccurate but also completely missed the point. However a company chooses to operate and whenever they choose to close is obviously up to them, but they ought at least to be honest and advertise accurately. Especially if you’re a solid hour away from the city, it’s important that people have a clear understanding of something as simple as when you close your attractions. 4 stars for cool trees and mostly functional equipment (surfboard could use a revamp). 3 stars for unclear information.
Edit: the owner replied, saying that the relevant information was available online. Unfortunately, predictably, he missed the point again. Had the info online been *accurate* we would have been happy. This review was left because it was wrong. Maybe just apologize and don’t start closing your park more than an hour early next time?

The courses are super fun. However just be aware that the stated closing time is not the time the park closes but the time the staff would like to be done their shifts so the park actually closes almost an hour before this (so customers will be long gone by the official closing time). Plan accordingly because if they close at 6 and you arrive at 3 you will pay for 3 hours but only get 2.

Very fun experience. Safety features are pretty fool proof and secure for even the most paranoid of people. The courses are creative and pretty well designed. The staff are real helpful and very friendly (with what seems to be the exception of the boss, going off of what some staff and other reviewers have mentioned, but I had the fortune of not meeting him during my visit), and they were pretty cool about helping us out when we were unable to complete a harder course. Even recommended us a solid restaurant we later enjoyed a fair bit (Spitfire). Good lads.

Beautiful winery in an old church. Staff was very knowledgeable about wine and the wine tasting tour of 5x 1oz wine was fun to try out the different selection of wines they had. All the wines that were available for tasting were delicious and we bought a couple of bottles to take home. If you buy two bottles of wine, your wine tasting cost is covered. There is also a 5km walking trail that goes around the perimeter of the property that would be fun to explore when warmer.

Nice area with a green walking space. The staff were very friendly and knowledgeable. The wines were flavourful and distinct with a menu of wine friendly dishes. We believed that the establishment was dog friendly, I would describe it as "dog tolerant". Dogs must stay outside so if you are in a group someone has to wait while others shop. Saying that, staff did provide a bowl of water for our little guy.

Beautiful place, don't go hungry. Menu is a huge dissappointment. I had the charcuterie board and it was very scant. A few years ago it came with a little more. Not a place to feed the family. If you want to enjoy the atmosphere, drink a glass of wine and eat a few olives then its the place to go. I ended up filling up with there brown bread and paid my bill of $70. Another tourist trap in Nova Scotia
The Peggy's Cove Gift Shop Ltd is a popular tourist spot in Nova Scotia that sells souvenirs of the area. The gift shop has a large selection of items, including T-shirts, hats, mugs, and keychains. It also has a variety of books about the area and its history.
I could spend all day in here! The store is truly a delight to wander through. If you have a bulky backpack, best to leave it in the car rather than knock something over. It gets crowded with so many tourists. Yes, some items are pricey... but look where you are. (You're a tourist at a popular tourist destination!) Bought a few gifts for friends at home and a beautiful knitted hoodie for myself. Next trip... the yellow hat and a raincoat!

Visited the Cove again in Sept. 2021 and found that the village had been gentrified over the past years.
Wooden boardwalks were added, and a viewing platform was under construction near the restaurant.
It no longer felt like a fishing village; more like a Disney version of one.
Still, it is well worth visiting but expect a tourist attraction, not really a fishing village.

This is more a review of the overall tourist attraction that is Peggy's Cove as opposed to the gift shop (although we did purchase quite a bit while there). In a word... amazing. We happen to visit on a misty morning which only added to the incredible experience and then when you started to hear the sounds of a solitary bagpiper playing through the mist from out on the point, it was nothing short of spectacular.

The restaurant is a complete tourist trap. The food is not good and the service was just ok. They get a lot of customers because literal busloads of tourists get dropped off here, but the food here is not worth it. The lobster soup, which is supposed to be one of their best dishes, was mediocre and served lukewarm. The amount you get is very small (it looks like a normal portion in the picture because the bowl is wide but very flat), and it was overpriced.
I regret going here instead of to one of the other restaurants that were just a little further away from the Peggy's Cove lighthouse.

It was a very beautiful place and the rocks were stunning but the business really takes away a bit from the experience. We went in mid-September (not even the peak of the tourist season) and on a Monday and it was still quite crowded. It was still overall a pleasant experience but I'm sure there are other areas you can find with a similar landscape that aren't quite as crowded. The village was nice to walk through too and there's some nice shopping. When you go be sure to take the road all the way to it's end where there's a larger parking area than what's at the visitor centre.

Peggy's Cove offers breathtaking views and picturesque villas -- this is the epitome of a seaside town. An early morning sojourn is recommended as it can get busy and free parking is limited. Quaint gift shops and restaurants pepper the roads leading to the lighthouse. Comfortable shoes recommended as the terrain is uneven and rough, especially by the lighthouse. The town has a very communal vibe.

Always an awesome experience to go there. It's best to go on a weekday during summer as the weekends are naturally busy and early September brings in a lot of university orientation tours. A very scenic place so make sure you charge up your camera. Also if you're someone who wants go from rock to rock around the lighthouse then it will be a great experience...just make sure you have comfortable footwear. There is parking right next to the lighthouse but it's mostly full so just check out the overflow parking in front of the visitor centre which is hardly 500m from lighthouse. Will def go again when I visit Hfx.

It's no secret that this is such a picturesque place. My youngest son who is 10 and a home body and has difficulty with change said that after visiting Peggy's Cove that he felt so free walking through the rocks and looking at the ocean. A huge huge step for him. We are moving to Nova Scotia from Ontario and this is going to be such positive move for him. What can I possibly say about Nova Scotia and visiting Peggy's Cove that hasn't already been said by other people reviewing. Such a beautiful place and if you ever ever get the chance to visit, don't pass it up.

A hidden gem at Peggy’s Cove, easy to miss when your eyes are glued to the panorama of colourful houses against the blue sky. I noticed it as I strolled every street of the cove. I’m assuming that many miss it if they stick to the (quite spectacular) lighthouse area.

Great visit from our MSC cruise. Excellent guide and driver. Driver somehow stopped the big coach when a young man on a skateboard ignored our green light and his red one and shot right in front of the bus about 6 feet in front of us. He survived, his board did not! Anyway, Peggy's Cove was great, if in Halifax pay a visit.

If you go to the lighthouse - it is a five minute walk from the parking lot. There is limited parking and in the summer it is probably full. However, it is a life long tribute by an artist who completed it over the last years of his life. In his vision - he was was going to polish it - but it is nice in the rustic state.

Really small park at Peggys Cove that protects a 30m long rock carving done by William deGarthe, a long-time resident of this area, in honour of the various seafarers on the coast. Entry is free and there's parking right by the visitor centre.

Had a great afternoon walking the granite rocks at Peggy's Cove. Amazing what nature creates due to the weather. Quaint area near the lighthouse showing the raw nature of the Atlantic Ocean and what the East Coast is all about.
Parking at the tourist information area with a short walk to the Lighthouse or parking by the restaurant near the Lighthouse. It is a must do when in Nova Scotia.

Rugged picturesque scenery, so unique. Kids explored for hours, didn't want to leave. Will be coming back, long drive from Niagara!
Acadian Maple Products is a must-visit destination in New Brunswick for maple enthusiasts. The farm shop offers an array of maple products, including the renowned maple syrup, which the province produces in large quantities annually. Visitors can explore various items such as maple butter, coffee beans, cookies, and even maple-infused alcoholic beverages. The friendly staff provides a warm welcome and allows visitors to sample different products before making a purchase. Additionally, the store offers reasonable prices compared to typical tourist shops.
First trip to Nova Scotia & we had to stop at a maple store. Maple Gelato & fudge were a great addition to our meal. And a shot of maple coffee Rum just adds excitement to the day. Fantastic staff. Drop on by.

It was my first time visiting this store, and I drove from Halifax to go to it. They had many Maple Syrup products and other things. Quality was good, and prices were a little high.

Great coffee, sandwiches and fudge. Of course everything Maple! Great gift packs of the shelf or custom. Great service!

Stopped by on a road trip to Nova Scotia. We love the maple walnut coffee beans for at-home coffee! Staff also recommend to try the maple crunch cookie and to-go coffee, which were great options on the road around Halifax and the southern shore. Will come back again once it’s safe to.

They manufacture the Maple Syrup on site, and have a wide array of products including Craft Beer, Whiskey, Rye, Rum and coffee!
Friendly customer service with great product knowledge, along with a location that is quite accessible.

Stopped here after a visit to Peggy's Cove. They have a great selection of maple syrup and related items. The maple butter was amazing. The owners were extremely friendly and answered our questions and even shipped our items home to the USA. Why chance packing maple syrup in your checked in luggage?? And the prices in the store are significantly lower than in the tourist shops.
Thanks for making the visit so memorable! I'm sure we'll be ordering more from you in the future.

Your source for all things maple. They offer a great selection with plenty of samples to taste. Nice, friendly and welcoming staff. It's not cheap but you get what you pay for. They have what looks like an event room with a glass wall so you can watch the process happen.

Excellent staff, service and staff. Frendly and helpful. Samples of maple products makes your choices so much easier. They also ship all over North America which makes shopping convient and you can order products online.
The Walton Harbour Lighthouse Museum is a small but well-maintained museum in Walton Nova Scotia that focuses on the history of the lighthouse and the harbour it served. The grounds and buildings are also home to some interesting attractions, including a pepperpot lighthouse and an old fog signal station.
Got up the first set of steps but chickened out when I looked at the 2nd set lol. Met a volunteer and his grandson who were going to remove some fallen trees from the walking trails and they were delightful. Everyone I have met on my trip in Nova Scotia have been so nice and friendly.

Stumbled upon this little gem on our drive along the coast on our trip from the states to Nova Scotia. You can actually climb up into the lighthouse and see the gears working! There is a wonderful little gift shop and museum, walking paths and amazing views! We loved it so much we stayed for a picnic lunch. Mavis was very helpful with tips on local places. Made a great day in Nova Scotia even more wonderful.

It is truly a historical gem of Nova Scotia! Celebrating its 150-year-old, the Walton lighthouse tells the stories of how it made a difference in the growth of this beautiful province.
Thanks to Bill for the tour and rich local information that any sailor enthusiast would appreciate. He made my son, and I feel like we were on a private tour.
It's definitely a must visit site to complete your Bay of Fundy experience.

This little park looks like it is operated by locals, but it is very well done. I was surprised to see the working clockwork machinery to turn the light. You can climb into the top of the lighthouse to get. beautiful view out over the area, and there is a nice easy trail to another look-off. There is also a nice little gift shop on the location. Certainly worth a stop if you are in the area.

The Uniacke Estate Museum Park is a historic estate located outside of Halifax, Nova Scotia. The property was home to the Uniacke family for seven generations and features restored period buildings and gardens. Visitors can take walks around the grounds or visit the museum which has collections of art, antiques and weapons from throughout history.
It's a great place to go hiking anytime of the year, but the trails can be challenging. They are not well grooomed with nice wide gravel roads like you find on the Canada trails system but raw trails thru the woods, with the exception of the Lake Martha trail. But thats what makes them so good. The house and trees are awesome... and so is the Uniacke history. There is plenty of parking and on-site washrooms.
Aaron Aalders — Google review
Well maintained trails at the back the estate. The estate by itself is a great museum which offers a glimpse back into the old days. The lake is opening its arms to your kayak or boat during summertime. Wide open lawns with picnic tables on work just perfectly for families and friends.
Jolly Roger — Google review
We toured the Estate Museum and got good insight from the staff on the history of the house and Uniacke family. Then we hiked the Red Spruce loop described as 1.5 km Challenging walk of high difficulty. I would rate it as medium as it is a natural trail and there were wet spots that I had to balance while stepping between stones to avoid soakers and mud. The Red Spruce Trail is not suitable for strollers or bikes but has brooks and a mossy bog. I will be back to try out the other trails. Beautiful spot to launch kayaks.

Beautifully kept. A really authentic feeling and probably the best heritage house experience in Canada

We were first introduced to this estate by our hiking groups and we come back for the trails. The trails are amazing, and give you a good tour of what used to be the vast estate. The grounds and the remaining houses and other buildings are great to explore. If they needed anything, we would just love it if they could somehow re-open a café here like they used to have.

Always love coming back here, just far enough away from the world and yet it's just around the corner. Great for hiking or just walking around the fields and if you want to learn some history of the early days the museum is a good size. Always friendly and never busy so always quiet. Also has a little coffee shop in the old cellar for a quick snack.

Crystal Crescent Beach Provincial Park is a coastal park located in Sambro, Nova Scotia. It features three white-sand beaches, a boardwalk, and a picturesque hiking/bird-watching trail.
I visited these wonderful beach today, the marking point in Google Maps navigate you to the parking place. So you can get out the car and start with hiking - it's wonderful. There are some wooden paths and on some parts you go over sand. Today it was very windy, so it gives a lit middle waves. I really recommend it👍

This is a sand beach with stones on one side and sand on the other. There is a long area along the sea shore that you can walk to. The views are so picturesque. All wallpaper stuff. Had such an amazing time just sitting there and listening to the sound of the waves. Very clean and peaceful place.

I am a wedding photographer and I love this beach for elopements and engagement sessions! It has tall grass and white sand, it's so clean and looks like a picture-perfect slice of heaven. Boardwalk and a little bridge are perfect for romantic photos.
When I am not working I love coming here with my family for hikes and to relax and spend time smelling the ocean.
Anka G — Google review
It’s a sand beach unlike many near Halifax. We went in winter so everything was shut, parking lot was closed, there were people walking their dogs. Beach view is good, should be having ample parking looking at their parking space. Many of the walkways were broken, might be due to the storms we had this year, not sure. But beach could definitely use some overall maintenance.

I took my dog on a trail here on a lovely Spring afternoon . I walked from the parking lot to the rocks and back . It's about an hour return with a few little stops to look around .
Beautiful clean beach , crystal clear water , nice soft sand and great trail , with a few little hills and turns along the water .
One of the many places that makes Nova Scotia so wonderfully Beautiful .

The beach is beautiful and even with the sun going down, there's lots to enjoy! Dogs were welcome at the time. (As long as there aren't many people and you have your leash and doggie bags🙂). The water was warmer than the air (late August) and the waves just right, for everyone to enjoy.
Judy Rhyno — Google review
Great beach, with amazing wide sand and plenty of area to sit, tan, and swim. There are two major parking lots, and access is free. It'll take you a few minutes to get down from the parking lots to your preferred area. There's some areas that are better covered from wind (by rocks or shrubs). There's sections that are boardwalks that take you further in the park.
Mat Bienczyk — Google review
We did not actually swim or play around here - the evening we reached we were tired and thought of returning the next day.
It's not very big and was not very crowded for that matter.
The views were good and the water seemed enticing. There are actually 3 beaches connected by a boardwalk and all looked nice.
Past these 3 inter connected beaches is another nude one - another family warned us to stay away looking at our family.

Fairview Cemetery is a somber burial ground in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada which holds the remains of 358 people who perished in the sinking of the RMS Titanic and the 1917 Halifax Explosion. The majority of these victims were recovered by the Canadian Navy on orders of White Star Line, with their remains unloaded at Coal or Flagship Wharf on Halifax's waterfront and transported to their final resting places in three separate cemeteries - Catholic, Protestant or Jewish.
Extremely interesting and well maintained cemetery. It is the resting place of 121 victims of the Titanic disaster. I had originally gone only to see the Titanic memorial but then found the mass grave for the victims of the 1917 harbor explosion. So sad to see. I went to the maritime museum and found the exhibit of the 1917 explosion after seeing the grave.
S D — Google review
This graveyard is very informative. The Graves are in the shape of the ships bow. As they pulled the victims from the water they were given numbers. This is why some Graves have numbers instead of names. Sad but Orientals are buried in one place, Jewish in another and so on. This would never happen in this day and age.

Took a walk through the Fairview Lawn Cemetery to look at the memorial for those who lost their lives on the Titanic. I did it mostly for my son, who when he was a child, watched the movie over and over, and would cry everytime. Such a sweet angel, my boy is.
While I was there I also learned about an explosion that happened on the pier, claiming many lives in the early 1900s. Halifax is rich with history.
Jennifer Kleinsteuber — Google review
There are many known and unidentified victims of the Titanic tragedy buried here. It’s nicely kept and serves as a great memorial to the victims. It’s very sad and allows us to honor those people and to remember them. They deserve to be remembered.
Kristen Burch — Google review
I've only been here to view the Titanic grave sites. Years ago when I first visited it was in better condition due to less traffic going through the area. Now, there are a lot of tour buses that bring people through it. I overheard a tour guide as he shared some of the stories. Some were accurate, others were a bit stretched (read fabricated) to make for a more entertaining story I guess. I was disappointed to be there while all of the tours came through, but if you can avoid those times it's definitely worth a visit even if you are not a Titanic enthusiast.
Adam Bland — Google review
Visited as part of a titanic tour from our cruise boat. Buses cannot drive in the cemetary (which was good) but be prepared for the uphill walk back out.
The titanic section is laid out very nicely, very easy to find. Signs everywhere.

Duncan's Cove Nature Reserve is a beautiful place to hike and explore with stunning views of the Atlantic Ocean. The nature preserve is located close to central Halifax, making it an easy walk or drive from downtown. The trails are muddy in the winter, but there are plenty of scenic overlooks with great views of the cove. Beware of dangerous cliffs and be sure to bring your park map for reference as there are no signs marking the trailway.
An absolutely beautiful and amazing part of Nova Scotia. Not a trail or park, but a nature reserve and should be treated as such. Beautiful amounts of wildlife and views. Very rocky, and a tough place to hike through but for sure worth it! Can't wait to come back

Great ocean views! A bit muddy but that's expected during the winter months. Watch out gorgeous lack of signage
Analia Silveira — Google review
This is a massive cove and it takes a little trekking skill to go there and come back with ease. I wish we had more hours to spend a while here. One signboard we saw to cite this to be one of the dangerous ones, but does not that make this more interesting? Also, the beach is full of pebbles, and some are multiple coloured as well! Car can be parked by the overlook loop if you are planning to chill in the cove.

This place is a must see! I had an amazing experience! The view was exceptional and I was lucky to see several seals sunbathing and swimming. It was also a windy day and the were some pretty good waves were coming ashore. They were hitting the rocks and made some pretty good splashes for some good pics.

Beautiful hike, peaceful and crashing waves, can go just a short way or hike to the end. My pup loved it and I found it quite easy to navigate :) although hard to find the entrance? I was terrified of trespassing on private property but I spoke with two others and they said it’s the only way to get to the trailhead? There should definitely be clearer directions if that lane is prohibited.

Love this hike on a hot summer day. Trails are not marked and entrance is through private property so be respectful. Wear waterproof shoes, even on hot days the trails are wet and muddy.

Always a pleasure to visit Duncans COVE a magnificent gem hidden 25 minutes away from Halifax. It's a long walk to the beautiful rocky spot on the Cove. A tough sturdy boots are must. Please don't think of sports shoes when Visting the spot. It's a paradise for photographers with every angle and dimensions for outstanding captures.

A great hike, about 1 hour each way. Not too challenging, but far better than a stroll in the park! Panoramic views, and natural coastal beauty!

A beautiful hike along the Nova Scotia coast. The trail head is out of the way and can be tricky to find. It is also an ungroomed trail, located on nature reserve, so be aware the flora and fauna are at risk in this area.

The Old Town Clock tower is a prominent landmark in Halifax's historic core and has been used for various purposes over the years. The iconic three-tiered structure was built in 1803 as a way to improve the punctuality of the garrison, and features an irregular octagon tower atop a one storey white clapboard building. Today, the clock is still operational and shows the 4 as IIII instead of IV to maintain symmetry.
As a visitor to the city, the Old Town Clock is a favourite landmark of mine, visiting or viewing it at least once a day.

What kind of Clock is this written both here by people and in the Internet. My personal impression when I have met it: Relatively interesting old attraction on the way to the fortress... you shouldn’t go here just for it, but it’s worth going to the fortress through that place just to look at one more good attraction.

The Halifax Old Town Clock is located as part of the Fort George / Halifax Citadel. It was originally opened in 1803 and has gone through several restorations since then. You can spot this from many angles. Didn't seem like you could go inside or really find out much more about it.
