Visited in April so there was still some snow on the ground. The path to get to the falls is beautiful. There are many trails if you like hiking. This place would make for a wonderful pre wedding shoot location. Jacob’s

Victoria Park is a true gem in the heart of the city. The lush green trees and beautiful waterfalls create a peaceful oasis in the midst of the hustle and bustle of daily life. I always feel rejuvenated after a visit to this park and highly recommend it to anyone in need of a little nature therapy. The walking trails are well-maintained and offer a variety of scenic routes to choose from. Overall, Victoria Park is a must-see for anyone visiting the area.

This is one of the greatest parks in the area and (in our opinion) the province - it just has so many amazing features like: hills, lookouts, staircases, gazebos, waterfalls, gorges, creeks and rivers, numerous trails, picnic areas, exercise area, and sports/play fields! Definitely worth visiting multiple times just due to the amount of various activities possible.

One of the most beautiful parks in Nova Scotia. Almost has a B.C vibe. Trails are tight in some places so keep a good grip on your dogs.

This park is about 130 years old. It’s a beautiful well maintained urban woodland park spans across 3000 acres. It has many boardwalks. These boardwalks make waterfalls Waddell and Howe are easily accessible and provide an exciting backdrop for photos of family and friends. It has washrooms but this park is not very wheelchair friendly.
Very tall pine trees and lots of squirrels and birds. It has a good parking lot and many entrances. If you are looking for some workout, you might wanna check out Jacob's ladder(147 steps) and some pull up bars at the top. All steps aren't the same size. It is open all year, but late spring and early summer would be ideal time to visit this park, as water levels would be at its highest. It is about a one and half hour drive from downtown Halifax. It's a beautiful and dynamic urban park. I love it for its natural features, including a dramatic steep-sided gorge, a winding river, cascading waterfalls, and a stately old-growth Eastern Hemlock forest. This place offers endless recreational, cultural and leisure opportunities. These include hiking, photography, birdwatching, day picnics, family gatherings, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, swimming, baseball, cultural events, live music, tennis, cycling and more.
If you are in Nova Scotia, and if you are a nature lover, I highly recommend going there.

Very well kept, be prepared for a lot of stairs if you want to explore the whole park. A lot of different trails you can explore. Cannot believe how beautiful and well kept the overall park is for the amount of people who visit. Climbing the stairs and walking along the trails up top have awesome views rather than just walking down below. Atleast two waterfalls to be seen as well.

Enjoyed the hike despite the cloudy drizzling weather. Visited Joe Howe Falls, the Waddell Falls and Wood Street Lookout.
The path to Five Corners was closed today, so we didn’t get to see it. If we visit Truro again next time, we will come back to the park to explore the other areas.
BTW, we were lucky to come across two deers during our hiking.

Family came to visit and we heard good reviews about Victoria Park and decided to spend the morning. This park was very beautiful and quiet with scenic trails and wildlife. Wasn’t expecting to see waterfalls either! Really enjoyed the park and will be returning!

This is one of the most beautiful places to go to in Nova Scotia
I felt serene peace visiting here for the first time
I am someone who loves walking in the nature and thus place was perfect for me to read a boom, listen to soothing music, to meditate, to just get lost in the wilderness of nature
I took so many pictures to remember this place
I can’t recommend this enough
I’ll definitely visit here again

This park turned out to be a real find on the way to Halifax. Big park where you can spend the whole day. The waterfalls were almost without water due to the dry season. But the area is very beautiful, well-groomed, with beautiful paths and stairs.

Excellent place for one day family trip. My kid enjoyed being there. I would say day spent well. Ample parking, maintained well. Toilets can be better.

This place is Truro's best kept secret! What a lovely park with some lovely views of waterfalls. There are so many trail options that you could spend hours here. A few of the trails were damaged earlier this year in heavy rains so they were closed off until they can repair them, but even so, it was worth the time we took to stop and explore here. They also had lots of washrooms. Some of the stairs are a bit steep but they're not too bad if you just go slow and take your time.
Alisha Greene — Google review
I did not expect this place to be so amazing because it’s in the middle of the city! They have tons of trails and they were pretty easy to navigate, well maintained so you can easily spend a whole day here. There are picnic tables out in front and some places to set up inside the park as well. I loved the loops and the hikes. They were unique despite being in the middle of an urban area. Must try the loop around the dam. 5/5 recommend. It also has a biking trail but we didn’t go on it.

Lovely park with waterfalls, hiking trails, a playground for kids, and lots of greenery. Short walk to the waterfalls that is mostly accessible, just near the end there are a few tree roots that make it a bit more challenging for pushing a stroller. Waterfalls are pretty nice, not the biggest in the world but fun to see. The kids playground has a lot of nice swings including an adult and child swing so you can swing together with your kiddo. Lots of parking here, bathrooms, and spots to picnic.
Marta Borowska — Google review
Lovely park with no entry fee. You can get to the falls if you walk all the way to the end and avoid the stairs. The water looks pristine. Near the falls, you can actually go for a swim if you'd like. They just advise against diving or jumping.
Note that the stairs are a single beam of wood. These are very thin stairs. Take your time going up and down.
There are plenty of benches located throughout the park, so don't worry about needing to find a spot to catch your breath or to eat a snack.
Chris Ugolini — Google review
This wonderful park, which has a beautiful stream and waterfalls, is perfect for a hike. While the damage from last year's post-tropical storm Fiona is still visible (see some of the pictures below), the gorgeous greenery is still quite impressive.
You can also find a children's playground, tennis courts, baseball diamond, and outdoor pool at Victoria Park.

Great place for trails. Amazing atmosphere and best place for picnic.

Truly a beautiful park, all the boardwalks everywhere remind me of vancouver island. There is a ton of awesome trails to hike, multiple waterfalls and several neat bridges to cross! We come here with our dog all the time and have had no issues with anyone. Parking is never a problem either. Highly recommend checking this place out!
Jost Vineyards, located on Northumberland Shore near Tatamagouche, is the largest and oldest winery in the province. It has won multiple awards and offers a variety of activities such as tastings, tours, meals at Seagrape Cafe, hikes or bike rides through the vines, and monthly events. In addition to its physical location, Jost Vineyards also offers online shopping with free shipping within the Maritimes and reduced rates elsewhere in Canada.
This was a hidden gem on our trip. Was an extremely warm September lunch time and visited here hoping for a break from the heat. Impressive store and tasting room - with individual introductions to the vineyard and its products.
We then headed outside on the porch for lunch. Food was great albeit a bit expensive. Note that some of our pictures have a red cast due to the strong sunshine coming through the red tent.
Took some wine and drinks to go which was nice to have throughout the rest of our trip - none of it made it all the way home!

Coming back for more of the BEST seafood chowder in Canada !
We visited this place by accident 3 years ago on our way to PEI. Decided on a small lunch of chowder. The delicacy, flavour and content was so exquisite that we renamed their dish seafood with a bit of chowder. The excellent facility and wines offered are worth a side trip off the main highways.

Prioritizes their profit over quality for their customers.
I ordered 12 bottles of wine through their online shop. 6/12 bottles had the cork pop out and they leaked everywhere (prior to me picking up). I emailed customer service. They told me I should have monitored the temp across Canada when I ordered and would not resend or refund the ruined wine. I live in Duncan BC, which rarely goes below freezing. I did not see this note on their site but as they were advertising wine shipments across Canada I assumed they knew what they were doing and it would be okay. I’ve shipped live lobster and my family have sent out numerous packages of liquids from NS without any problems (in the winter months as well). I was so disappointed with the lack of support from their customer service. We emailed back and forth once but then I received no reply. Very careless. In my opinion the warning was not clear, they either shouldn’t be shipping in the winter and/or should put a recommendation to NOT order within Canada in the winter. It seems like they prioritized profit over their customers. I won’t be ordering again. If you are planning to order I HIGHLY recommend not ordering through the winter.

What a lovely vineyard! The wine is great but the experience was even better. They have a lovely cafe attached with plenty of seating inside and out. the menu has lots of offer and everything pairs well with all the tasty wine. Staff were friendly, helpful and accommodating. We will definitely be returning.
Update: returned and even when it's busy, staff here are great!

Were there to enjoy Signal Hill on one of the hottest days of the year and it was well worth it, they were amazing! Highly recommend the experience, sampled some fantastic tasting wines, bought some to supplement our homemade variety, had a simply wonderful time! Great to be able to enjoy such an event with an awesome group of people!

Had wine, lobster sliders and the brownie. The wine was delicious and worth the price but the food while tasty was over priced and small.
We were well greeted and service was excellent. Additionally dogs were welcomed on the patio and provided with a bowl of water.
The venue makes for a pleasant afternoon.

I had no idea this place existed. A local escape. Went for a bottle of wine and snacks. Charcuterie board had lots of cheese. Lobster sliders were fresh and the side salad was the bomb. The atmosphere and service were great. Come early as people were getting turned away an hour before closing

Had a lovely lunch at Seagrape Cafe. Prices are reasonable and portions are good. Staff was friendly and upbeat. Also knowledgeable about their wines.

We arrived as a group of 11 within a bus tour. We ordered lunch as soon as we arrived and everyone, absolutely everyone, throughly enjoyed it. Two people with Celiac Disease ate from main menu with alterations. There was no problem, very accommodating. Fantastic waiter, attentive and fun. The lunch was superb. Not a complaint among us.
We had a team building event here. The stuff were extremely helpful and accommodating. They even agreed to do a BBQ after our boat tour. From start to finish, it was easy to communicate with them. They also offered our photographer to ride in another boat to take pictures. It was amazing!

I've been out twice in 2019 and also in previous seasons. Always a great time. Highly recommended. Shubenacadie River Runners' guides have been consistently good and all three levels of ride are entertaining. The Super Wild Ride, though, is my favorite.

We had a great day on the water today! Lucked out with some big waves after the recent lunar activity. Beth our guide was knowledgeable, energetic and friendly. When it was over our 11 year old asked if we could go again tomorrow! It won’t be tomorrow but we will be back.

Me and my parents had a blast with the B trip, having at least 4 rounds of tidal bore fun before going mudsliding! I had never heard of mudsliding until we got to that mud covered beach but it was hilarious and surprisingly easy to slip down one of the self carved slopes and belly flop into cool water. I would recommend sitting at the front of the boat for the best experience (splash zone!) during the ride!

Gotdamm this is an amazing activity! The owner is super friendly and knowledgeable, and so are the staff.
This company goes earlier, stays later, and seems to have the best waves, and sense of timing. They are super fun, and probably should charge more than the competition, mostly because they are that much better.
Fred, I hope you read this, not only are you fun but your amazing. You made it extra fun, and were certainly very down to earth.
The only complaint I have is the water….. it’s too brown. Oh and the mud, it’s too dirty.

The Halifax Waterfront Boardwalk is a popular tourist attraction in the city of Halifax, Nova Scotia. The boardwalk has a wide variety of restaurants and shops, as well as attractions like the Halifax Waterfront Ballpark. It's a lively and busy place that's great for family fun.
Walking the waterfront is my favourite thing to do in Halifax. The boardwalk is incredibly accessible and full of history, beautiful views and great food. Listening to local buskers and people watching is part of the journey. The colourful Adirondack chairs Harbourside are a great place to take in a drink or ice cream and enjoy the afternoon. Highly recommend.

Lovely, serene and historic. A place to relax, a place to explore, a place to enjoy. Eat, drink and be merry! Wear comfy shoes! If you climb the hill to the top take it nice and easy! Surprisingly, going downhill that steep was a challenge too and I was wishing I brought open toe sports sandals too. The whole place is a delight. Worth the visit!

My friends and I spent the day on Halifax waterfront. It was gorgeous weather, so the walk along the front was lovely, just looking at the sculptures and chatting to a friendly police officer. We visited Pier 21. The Maritime museum was great, particularly the Titanic exhibition. We did a harbour tour on a small, electronic boat. Unfortunately the brewery was shut that day, but we ate at The BG, which was buzzing that day. Fabulous!

The Halifax Waterfront is a picturesque area located along the harbor in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. It features a blend of historic charm and modern attractions, with a bustling boardwalk, scenic views of the water, various shops, restaurants, and cultural landmarks such as the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic and the Canadian Museum of Immigration at Pier 21.
In my review, I highly recommend visiting this place; it's an absolute must-see.

It’s a great place to chill out, taking in the sights. You can access to its long, beautiful boardwalk from ample parking spots nearby. There are many benches to stop, appreciating the Dartmouth skyline with some boats sailing. I, personally, haven’t seen any cruise ships yet, but there are always many things to see. Also, you can always have a variety of options regarding what to eat.
Michael Chung — Google review
Awesome place to spend hours strolling the boardwalk along the harbourfront. A great selection of shops and pop up tents selling their wares. Ships and sailboats to observe, buskers, face painters, caricaturists, henna artists, etc populate the boardwalk.
Phil Vania — Google review
Wonderful boardwalk with ships, restaurants, park spaces and great views on clear days. Bring an umbrella regardless of weather; “cloudy” means being in a cloud with drizzling rain, “Sunny” means enough direct sunlight and heat that you’ll be happy for the shade.
Boards are close set and smooth enough for a stroller and dogs. Park area has musical instrument stops and activities painted on the ground for kids. Each dock has surprisingly comfortable seats for taking in the view.
Enough options for lobster rolls and steamed mussels that you never have to have it now because it’ll be on the menu everywhere. “Cow’s ice cream” was great. “Harbor hopper tours” was fun; not much historic information about Halifax but still a good time and the kids loved it.
James “Wolff” Weiner — Google review
The Halifax Waterfront is a great boardwalk with beautiful views around. The ferry station is right there if you want to get to the other side of the harbor. There are locations to get on the local bus or the tour buses that roam the area. There are a lot of places to shop and eat between the Casino and the train station. Overall, the Halifax Waterfront is a beautiful place to spend time with enough around to occupy your day.

Stopped here on our last day in Nova Scotia. It was very nice and built out. Lots of beautiful views, benches, and even hammocks. I was a little disappointed with how many places were closed on a Sunday evening in October, but maybe I was just too late in the season. I recommend hoping in a ferry ride to get a nice tour of the area for cheap. There were a number of people that seemed to be very drunk walking around which was strange. Other than that, a very nice experience.
Olivia Roy — Google review
Great walk along the front with plenty of little shops, bars, restaurants & free seating to enjoy the view.
Also well maintained during the winter months means it is easily accessible all year round.
Well worth a stroll!

A most interesting place to spend a morning. Great snacking options. The fish and chips at Katch was surprisingly delicious. I say "surprisingly" as I expected it to be too oily. It was far from that.
Visiting the couple of ships on display was a peep into the maritime history of Nova Scotia.
A ride on the amphibious vehicle was also a very unique experience.

There is so much to do and see, give yourself plenty of time and you could spend days there and not see everything. There are things for every age group. The number of restaurants is endless. You will find restaurants for casual cheap dining to high-end restaurants serving the best seafood in the world. There is so much for the kids to do and see. Ice cream that is out of this world especially the fog company and Cows. I know it doesn't sound like ice cream but it is. You can view the tall ships, the Corvette warship, rent jet skis, bike rentals, it is endless. While all this costs money, you can go there on a low budget and still have a great day.

I was very happy to discover this place. I didn't know about it, nor how long it is. Here you will find many shops, restaurants, bistros, services, monuments, museums, harbors and interesting places. It has a great atmosphere and you should definitely go through it, it's not that long.

When the weather is favourable this city centre is attraction the place to be. Comfortable chairs line the waterfront. They are free to use and a great place to sit and contemplate whatever you choose. Numerous food stalls and restaurants provide the hungry with foods from around the world and a range of prices that range from reasonable to ridiculous.
Plenty of history to read about on the many storyboards located along the walkways.
Well worth the visit and a revisit.
The Maritime Museum of the Atlantic in Halifax showcases Nova Scotia's maritime history from the fishery to World War II. There is an emphasis on boats and vessels, from small crafts to warships. Various exhibits explore different aspects of Nova Scotia's seafaring past, such as sailing days for early explorers to steam-powered boats. The museum also has a permanent exhibit about the Titanic disaster with artifacts and dozens of photos. It is open year round.
Loved the museum!
Lots of interesting stuff for kids and adults.
The only disappointment was that we could visit the CSS Acadia.
Apparently, it is open only on Tuesdays, 1:30 pm to 4:30 pm and Wednesdays and Thursdays, 10:30 to 4:30 pm. 🤷♀️
If you have a chance, jump on a group tour about the Titanic.
Our guide was incredible!
The most entertaining guided tour we ever had.
Outside is a good kids' playground.

This museum was pretty good. Interesting stuff on the Titanic and Halifax disaster. On the second floor, there was a small theatre that played those Canadian Heritage commercials (on loop) from like twenty years ago. Such a walk down memory lane from my childhood.

Total enjoyed the Maritime Museum! So much history, it was busy, the items are so interesting. Would love to return. The Titanic section was so interesting as was the Halifax explosion.

I appreciate the efforts of so many to provide slices of history and other nautical information to the museum! I rarely get there, but I'm so glad to be greeted by that glowing lighthouse light. I've enjoyed it since I was little. Viewing William Hall's cross; looking at more details about the Halifax Explosion, and even checking out a Sable Island monitoring station scavenger, were unforgettable highlights. Get over when you're able. Museum passes are very good for curiosity-quenching times.

Really great museum. The employees are full of knowledge for all your questions, especially Titanic and the harbour explosion. They have a blue macaw named Merlin and he is a ginormous sweetheart. He likes to nap in the afternoon, but he will chat with you if you approach him right. Sorry to spend so much time on the parrot, he was such a darling so no ragerts.

This place was such a cool find!! I need to start by saying the people who work here were fantastic, greeted you with a smile and so friendly!! I was excited to come and see the Titanic exhibit and didn't really know what else to expect from the experience. I ended up loving the entire museum start to finish. They have a few great spots in there for some fun photo ops and a little observation deck up top overlooking the gorgeous waterfront. Tickets were priced right and we even got to wish Merlin the parrot a happy birthday! Check it out if you are in the area.
Pam Ricci — Google review
There are 2 floors to the museum. When you enter, there's a information display to your left that talks about the history of the building that houses the museum. In front of you is where you pay for your admission. Adult admission is $9.55.
The day we went, they were showing a special short 11 min film about the Titanic: The Halifax Story between 11 am to 12 pm on the second floor in their mini theatre.
There's another movie that plays. About the Bluenose. Another movie called Sable Island plays, 28 min. They seem to show different movies, with different times. I caught the tail end of the Bluenose movie. The last movie today is Sable Island. The museum workers show movies on days that are particularly busy, to thin out the crowds in the exhibits.
The walking onto the deck of the CSS Acadia wasn't open, cause of the rainy weather.
On the ground floor, there's a person working on assembling model ships.
There are lots of model ships. There is history here about the Halifax Explosion. There is a Indigenous exhibit. They have a parrot in a cage here named Merlin.
The second floor has history about the Titanic and Nova Scotia shipwrecks. Artefacts of the Titanic can be found in the displays. And a lot of model ships. There's an area about sailing as well.bthe floorboards creak very loudly- I assume to mimic the creaky floorboards of an actual ship.
The day we went, it got pretty busy as time passed. We spent about 5 hours here. Surprisingly a good museum. Was much more than we expected.

Neat place. Loved the models, especially. They were so intricately detailed. You could tell that a lot of time and effort had gone into their restoration, which was done by a group of volunteers! It was absolutely amazing to see.

This should be on the "must-see" list of all visitors to Halifax. As the oldest and biggest maritime museum in Canada, it provides an excellent history of Halifax, as well as seafaring in general. You can see exhibits that range from the sinking of the Titanic, to the Halifax explosion of 1917, a history of the Mi'kmaq indigenous people, and the children's TV show Theodore Tugboat, which was inspired by Halifax.
The observation deck, meanwhile, offers gorgeous views of the waterfront (see videos below), while I also enjoyed the replica that let's you feel like you are sailing on a ship (see video below)

Fantastic small museum. Laid out very nice and the staff were great. It was a great place to visit while downtown Halifax. Highly recommend it if you are in the area. Also a great place for children. They also have a great "huge" patio area where you can sit outside and enjoy the waterfront!

Fantastic small museum just by the Halifax waterfront. Really nice staff as well. Open all day till 5pm. I am no museum expert. I had meh expectations going in to this place. But I was very much delighted by this place. So much rich history all explain and very nicely laid out.
From the Halifax explosion to shipwrecks to the titanic. Very well done and enjoyable. Never thought being educational would be a huge positive but this place just kept you want more. Spent easily a couple hours here. A very large collection of very intricate models are all around. Fascinating to think of all the work out into those. Absolutely worth the money.
Great place for adults and kids. Nice gift shop inside as well. I bought a shirt. No review on the shirt yet.

Definitely one of the coolest museums I've been to. I've never been to a maritime museum, but have always wanted to go. Interesting even for the kids. So much information on boats, shipwrecks, the Halifax disaster, and the Titanic. Many artifacts from the Titanic at this location. Really enjoyed the room with all of the sailboats. There is a ship outside that you can tour as well, however it was closed when we wanted to tour it. Two floors of information. You could spend at least 4+ hours here. We spent about 2 hours and definitely did not get through it all. Lots to learn about!

Great place, lots to see and experience! The Titanic section was a big hit, but anyone interested in maritime history, boats, and even navigational aids will not be disappointed!! If you need a break, they also have a deck where you can sit and watch the ships in the harbour.

This museum has gone through some impressive upgrades since the last time I went. This time we went for the Titanic exhibit. Would recommend checking it out. The balcony overlooking the waterfront is worth going to for great views of the harbour and the hustle and bustle of the boardwalk.

What an amazing gem of a museum! It took me over 2 hours to get through the exhibits and I learned so much about the local maritime history. The cost is very reasonable. Wouldn’t appeal as much to younger children as it’s very reading heavy - would be even more incredible with some more interactive exhibits.

I went here for my cadets.
This place was really nice and very informative with the cool models ships and blocks with history.
We were also provided with a scavenger hunt with answers that could be found around the place.
Their was also music and singing upon my visit with small tables with activities.

A great place for learning the history of sailing and ships. The most precious exhibits in this museum is the real relic which refloated from Titanic, since Halifax is one of the nearest city to the wreck of Titanic.

Nice way to spend am afternoon. It was a rainy day so we decided to check it out. Great ship reproductions as well as excellent information on the titanic and Halifax explosion. After the museum make a point to go to the cemetery where the titanic and hakifax graves and memorial are located.

Went because my Mom wanted to go but I really enjoyed it. Excellent information and displays, especially thought the Halifax Explosion section was really well done and of course the Titanic exhibit.

Maritime Museum of Atlantic, is a good place for the family visiting. Where you can find out not only about Canadian story of maritime, but worldwide as well. Some of the Museum items, are came from real ships!

It was a cool experience going to the museum. They have lots of artifacts from all eras of boats and ships, including some of the Titanic. Also, they have the original models for the Thomas the Tugboat tv show!

As my other museum reviews, I will say that this is a great gem. I came by due to a change in travel plans. It's well worth traveling for, with strong story telling of both Halifax and Titanic.

The Halifax Citadel National Historic Site is a star-shaped hilltop fort that offers guided tours and a coffee bar & gift shop. It is located in the city of Halifax and has been part of Canada's national parks system since it was created in 1749. The fortress has been used to defend the city from attack, and today, it is popular with ghost tour participants who can hear tales of bizarre legends on one of the citadels popular ghost tours.
A must visit of you are in the city. Be there before 12 noon to watch the noon gun firing! Lots of historic buildings, great ity views and very nice guided tour provided. The museum inside the fort has a lot of interesting artifacts, uniforms and a huge variety of guns covering different eras. Nice gift shop too. You can easily spend 3-4 hours to see everything.

Definitely one of the most popular things to do in Halifax! Highly recommend arriving around 11:00 a.m. as this will allow you to see the canon fired at noon and the changing of the guard at 1:00 followed shortly by a musket demonstration. We found that this was perfect timing. There are lots of History college students who are employed to tell you about the area so questions are easily answered. Also fun that they are dressed in time period attire. If you will plan on watching the canon, instead of lining up right next to it I would suggest going across the way. The explosion is still enough for you to feel and you will get a much better view. However, you will not be able to hear the explanation of what is going on that is given by one of the employees.

The people who work here are very knowledgeable and you can learn a lot from them. They also have soldiers who wear the traditional wool outfits and honestly bless them. It’s so hot and they have to wear all this gear in such hot weather. Some interactive spots and there is one area which is air conditioned. Would recommend going to the bathroom prior to coming as there a few bathrooms. Fill up a water bottle and watch your step.

Excellent experience! The Halifax Citadel Society does a phenomenal job of presenting the history of not only the citadel but also the Halifax Harbour and area. The young people who work here are very knowledgeable in interpreting the history and talented in displaying the military drill and firearms. The piping band played on and off and sounded incredible and just set the tone. The exhibits were very well put together and there were many hands on activities to learn a lot. I absolutely loved my visit and could've spent more time but had to catch the ferry back to Dartmouth (which is also a great experience)!

For a Labour Day Monday, it wasn’t too busy.
The concept of the site is quite intriguing. A fair amount of history behind in.
In terms of location, it’s right downtown so very easy to get to.
I really enjoyed the war museum, lots of great artifacts, weaponry and interesting stories I wasn’t aware of from WW1 and WW2.
I do wish there were a bit more self-guided tour options though. I think there was a map we could have used but the ticket sale team didn’t really seem to tell us much. The interactive ‘kiosks’ I did see on the museum didn’t seem to be working anyways.

Much visit if you are interested in the history of Halifax harbour and old fort built to defend Halifax port. There is an army museum inside the citadel. Three times a day there are guided tours to explain different parts of the citadel.

You can spend at least 3 hours here visiting this incredible historic site with its city views. There are regular displays and instances of what life was like here under colonial British rule. You can see the changing of the guard and watch troop drills in full historical accurate costumes .
There is a very interesting museum with loads of interesting facts and stories. There's a lovely Cafe which you can take what will be a welcome break after walking the ramparts. Probably more interesting for us men or boys. Suggest the ladies go shopping 🥺

Such a nice experience. I'm glad I went and visited. There's so much history.....I didn't take the guided tour but I read, read, and read when I was in the museum. (I would suggest the ticket counter provide information regarding the time of the guided tour, because I would gladly join)
The historical background of the cidatel is so interesting, this tour has enabled me to understand Nova Scotia in a profound way.

It's easy to see why this is THE signature attraction of Halifax. As first-timers to the city, this was first on the list - we were all enthused to see Canadian history unfold before us as we climbed the steps up the hill. The actors are very much into what they do, and the exhibits are very detailed. It even has a special exhibit on the D-day landing, as we know several vessels left Halifax for the event. We stayed for the 12noon cannon blast, which was spectacular. Even when leaving the fortress, we once again admired the view out over Halifax - you can't beat this place for the perfect panoramic vista!

Beautiful tourist spot. There are many rooms with historical monuments, museum exhibits and movie theaters. You can learn a lot of history about Halifax from its very beginnings. The staff fulfills their duties and tries to make the arrival here as comfortable as possible. Sometimes they show the preparation for firing a cannon. There are usually many willing, take good places to watch. Everything is safe and within the permitted limits. Don't forget to bring earplugs. A cannon shot is quite loud. Tickets are not expensive, you can spend time with your family and learn a lot of interesting things. Parking is available, paid additionally.

Wow. Amazing citadel with guided or self tours. The staff is wearing period clothing and noon canon firing. Very interesting museum and exhibits. Fun day for families, picnics, and history.

Interesting history around Halifax and the Citadel. In the information center runs a film in English and French. Unfortunately, the sound did not work for us.
In the citadel you can walk through different stations. With children certainly a very nice attraction.
The entrance fee for an adult I find a bit expensive. Here you could improve, then probably more visitors would come.

Fun watching all the drills. The "soldiers" walking around demonstrating the marching, formations, and weapons was cool. We saw a rifle demonstration where a soldier fired three shots very quickly, and were present for the noon cannon firing. The tour was good and worth the price. Tours run in English and in French.

Citadel is the place where the city was first formed. After centuries, it is now a museum and famous tourist place in the city. Being a resident of the city, I got the opportunity to visit it multiple times. The place comes to life during summer when flocks of tourists visit the charming place. This is the time when the museum is open, guards are present, and one needs to purchase entry ticket of 8.5 CAD (not needed if you have a Discovery pass). Winter is more timid. Not many activities except the noon canon during this time. That also means it is open for all without a ticket but you don't get the flavour since nothing inside is open. Over and all, a must visit place for everyone visiting downtown. Careful if you visit during mid day and with a kid. The noon canon is really loud.

The fort was awesome. It was full of interesting sights and informative displays. The staff was very knowledgable and friendly. One of the highlights was that of the bagpiper playing haunting melodies at various times throughout the day. They also had a partial recreation of D-Day from a Canadian soldier's perspective.

This place is much more fun than I expected! I loved the immersive experience I had while observing the soldiers playing drums/bagpipes and shooting their guns. There are two museums with lot of history with a great quantity of artifacts. I spent around 3:30h walking around and I could visit it all. Cheers for the female soldiers! Recommend!

One of the oldest citadels in Canada, the citadel of Halifax, should be on top of the list of the places to visit when you're in town. The area is huge with lots of exhibitions on the history of the military and the city itself there. Expect to spend at least two hours to get the most of what the place has to offer.

This is a must see when in Halifax. The price for an adult is $12.50. If you are going, I would suggest being there for noon because everyday they fire off a cannon except Christmas. There is so much to see. The history from WW1 all the way to the recent wars in Afghanistan is incredible. There is so much to see and learn. There is so much to learn and to see how things have changed over the years. The most amazing thing for me was the Juno Beach display. I actually felt like I was there and it gave me a real understanding what the allied troops went through fighting the Germans. Give yourself plenty of time to visit the barracks and everything this place has to offer.

We were in Halifax for one day only. We walked from the cruise terminal to the Citadel, which on occasions was quite steep.
It's actually a pleasant walk past some more historical properties.
8 dollars entrance fee with under 18's free.
Well worth the time and cost. We were there approximately 1.5 hours; we could have stayed longer, but as it was a short trip, we wanted to see other places too.
On the hour the bagpipes were played which was wonderful. Staff were dressed in period costumes and shared information.
The museum has a nice layout and is full of interesting history, which is very well presented.
Highly recommend.
Some nice views, too.
Free WiFi, but was slightly flaky.

Amazing exhibits. Be sure to see the newest one right of the information center. When we went there we realized the narration was much better and we enjoyed how interactive it was but alas we were short on time. Change of guards, the pipe show was fun. And views were spectacular.

I found the museum in the main building much more interesting than the big gun going off or watching the teenagers in period costumes marching around the grounds. The museum has relics and artifacts from the Canadian military from wars past, war trophies from soldiers, and more curiosities to learn from as well. I found that area the most fascinating. Take your time and enjoy it.

My husband and I came in ‘shoulder season’ so there wasn’t a full time table of re-enactments or activities, but that was ok.
Lots to see and do as you explore the timeline for the French and British rule in the area, you can easily spend half a day or more here.
Very friendly volunteers and staff that are happy to answer any questions you may have.
It would have been good to have some sort of sign posts / direction to let you know a recommendation on where to walk round and in what direction so you make sure you see everything.
If you have a Parks Canada Pass then it’s free entry.

The Halifax Public Gardens is a beautiful oasis located in the heart of the city. It features manicured lawns and gardens that have been used for weddings and photo shoots, as well as being a great spot to relax and people-watch. The gardens include a variety of plants from different climates which line the paths.
With a beautiful garden such as the Halifax Public Gardens, I honestly don’t understand why Halifax isn’t a bigger travel destination than it is. This park is absolutely stunning, especially in springtime. With the trees blooming and the tulips out, you are never going to have an unremarkable time here 🌷🌸✨

Beautiful garden and maintained very well! The paths are easy to walk on. The flowers were in full bloom. There were people just taking a stroll, sitting on park benches, or grabbing a bite with friends/coworkers. Great place to eat outside. I can imagine locals coming here for daily walks. There are probably events held at the park as well during the summer. So glad I got to visit while I was in Halifax!

A must-visit for visitors to the city. Even though I visited in October, there were still lots of flowers in the gardens. There was a dahlia showing which was a pretty presentation of colourful blooms. Prepare to spend at least an hour strolling through the gardens, more time needed if you are going to the coffee shop.

If you are seeking a serene experience in the middle of the hustle and bustle this is the perfect place to stop by!
Everywhere you look you are surrounded by beauty here. From the tree lined pathways, the flower designs, pond, gazebo or even the water fountain that has been there since Queen Victoria 👸 There is so much for the eyes to capture.
Kids will love it here too as there are ducks, fish and other critters for them to get excited about here.
I do recommend taking the time to read the various signs that explain the rich history of these gardens. There are even signs that explain the various trees and vegetation around the garden too.
Street parking can be a bit scarce, but there is underground parking near the main entrance that is relatively inexpensive. We paid $6 for 3 or 4 hours.
I feel so fortunate to have the opportunity to experience these gardens.

The public gardens is a nice addition to the middle of the city. When you’re inside it doesn’t even really feel like you’re in a city. It is definitely the most beautiful garden in Hslifax, and probably one of the most beautiful in Canada. It is very popular with locals, is very well maintained, and there are posts with the names of flowers written, so you can actually learn about the flower you are seeing.
The park was built in the second half of the nineteenth century and has been kept in the same Victorian style.

I came here on a Saturday morning for sunrise. Unfortunately it was too cloudy for any meaningful. Is snow the bed the day before and it felt a little treacherous with some snow cover sections on the roads and I cannot tell in the dark what are there any black ice.
There's nobody here other than myself, and the lack of disturbance of the snows suggest that no one had been here recently either. I was met with a fox when I arrived at the park. It quickly scurried away.
The snow Addison contrast to what likely would have been a bit of a boring reddish brown ocean floor. I see lots of great photo ops during sunrise and sunset, which unfortunately I did not have time to come back for and the weather was not cooperating.

Completely amazed by the height of the tides! Beautiful landscape to experience. There is so much to see at low tide. Kids were having a blast finding hermit crabs! A trip out to Nova Scotia is not complete without a visit out to the Bay of Fundy.
This park and location was beautiful and picturesque. It was tranquil and serene as you sit and watch the water 💦 slowly rushing back into the bay. You can walk in the floor bed during low tide ( 6-7AM ) and you better be on solid ground by 5PM.
There is a lovely gift shop / lighthouse as well here.

Beautiful views of the changing tides and Bay of Fundy. Recommend getting there at low or mid-low tide when walking is possible on the rocky sea floor. Take care walking as the tides come into the area quickly and could potentially get stranded or cut off from the main stairs to the water.

Incredible. Felt like being on Mars. If you go about 20 minutes to the right of the stairs, there's a mini waterfall and strange grassy field.
Definitely be careful of time though. The tide can come in and trap you without notice.

Don't expect anything fancy. You park, go down the path to the stairs, and then your on the floor of the Bay of Fundy. No vendors or shops. Great way to spend half day on your trip to Halifax. We timed our visit within 1-2 hours of low tide. We walked around marveling at the fact we were walking at nearly 60 feet below high tide. We walked around the base of an entire island. Definately worth the drive to see this. It's 5 stars because it's an awesome natural wonder that your never going to see anywhere else.

Incredible to walk on the ocean floor. Check the tide schedule, you can walk 3h before and after the low tide. If you have the chance to book a sunset tour guide, I suggest you do it. Had a blast and really nice to see the little creatures. Most beautiful sunset ever. You can go up the lighthouse!!!

We got to see this place at low tide and then high tide.
Since it's the Bay of Fundy - tides are of utmost importance.
You need to check and see the tide timings.
Parking is free and ample so no cost involved.
There is a public washroom there which is clean and easily accessible and visible.
They also have a lighthouse where you can go up and see the entire area.
It's a steep climb but worth the effort - it's free too.
Inside this lighthouse on the walls is a lot of interesting facts too.
If you stand at the water long enough you will see the ground disappearing.
I have attached pictures for you to see.

A very nice place to visit with a beautiful view. Parking and entry is free and they have a decent amount of spaces. They have a small lighthouse/viewpoint that you're allowed to go up to the top in which is very cool. The trails down to the water are quite short and a good distance for all ages. MAKE SURE you don't wear fancy shoes or pants because there WILL be mud once your down by the water. All in all a good place to visit.
The Peggy's Cove Gift Shop Ltd is a popular tourist spot in Nova Scotia that sells souvenirs of the area. The gift shop has a large selection of items, including T-shirts, hats, mugs, and keychains. It also has a variety of books about the area and its history.
I could spend all day in here! The store is truly a delight to wander through. If you have a bulky backpack, best to leave it in the car rather than knock something over. It gets crowded with so many tourists. Yes, some items are pricey... but look where you are. (You're a tourist at a popular tourist destination!) Bought a few gifts for friends at home and a beautiful knitted hoodie for myself. Next trip... the yellow hat and a raincoat!
Cynthia Ugolini — Google review
Visited the Cove again in Sept. 2021 and found that the village had been gentrified over the past years.
Wooden boardwalks were added, and a viewing platform was under construction near the restaurant.
It no longer felt like a fishing village; more like a Disney version of one.
Still, it is well worth visiting but expect a tourist attraction, not really a fishing village.

This is more a review of the overall tourist attraction that is Peggy's Cove as opposed to the gift shop (although we did purchase quite a bit while there). In a word... amazing. We happen to visit on a misty morning which only added to the incredible experience and then when you started to hear the sounds of a solitary bagpiper playing through the mist from out on the point, it was nothing short of spectacular.

The restaurant is a complete tourist trap. The food is not good and the service was just ok. They get a lot of customers because literal busloads of tourists get dropped off here, but the food here is not worth it. The lobster soup, which is supposed to be one of their best dishes, was mediocre and served lukewarm. The amount you get is very small (it looks like a normal portion in the picture because the bowl is wide but very flat), and it was overpriced.
I regret going here instead of to one of the other restaurants that were just a little further away from the Peggy's Cove lighthouse.

It was a very beautiful place and the rocks were stunning but the business really takes away a bit from the experience. We went in mid-September (not even the peak of the tourist season) and on a Monday and it was still quite crowded. It was still overall a pleasant experience but I'm sure there are other areas you can find with a similar landscape that aren't quite as crowded. The village was nice to walk through too and there's some nice shopping. When you go be sure to take the road all the way to it's end where there's a larger parking area than what's at the visitor centre.

Peggy's Cove offers breathtaking views and picturesque villas -- this is the epitome of a seaside town. An early morning sojourn is recommended as it can get busy and free parking is limited. Quaint gift shops and restaurants pepper the roads leading to the lighthouse. Comfortable shoes recommended as the terrain is uneven and rough, especially by the lighthouse. The town has a very communal vibe.

Always an awesome experience to go there. It's best to go on a weekday during summer as the weekends are naturally busy and early September brings in a lot of university orientation tours. A very scenic place so make sure you charge up your camera. Also if you're someone who wants go from rock to rock around the lighthouse then it will be a great experience...just make sure you have comfortable footwear. There is parking right next to the lighthouse but it's mostly full so just check out the overflow parking in front of the visitor centre which is hardly 500m from lighthouse. Will def go again when I visit Hfx.

The Confederation Bridge is the largest bridge in the world that spans ice-covered waters, connecting Prince Edward Island to New Brunswick. The 12.9-kilometre long bridge was officially opened in May 1997 and is a marvel of civil engineering. It provides a great convenience for travelers as they no longer have to wait for a ferry to reach PEI from New Brunswick.
The bridge has a zero-tolerance policy for speeding and use of a phone and has cameras installed on the route so be very mindful when driving.
The bridge is massive and very long.
Just after crossing the Bridge when visiting PEI, there's a park from where you can see the entire bridge with a beautiful view that you would like to capture forever.
Nisha Aryan — Google review
The bridge itself is an incredible feat of engineering. It takes about 15 minutes to cross and the view is amazing. We reached PEI and arrived to the Covid testing tents, showed our passports, Covid test results from the US, and our ArriveCAN info. We received a covid test from a very nice nurse and were on our way with instructions promptly.
The reason for 3 not 5 stars is the return trip. The toll lanes were not labeled well enough for us to understand how to through in a motorhome. Unfortunately we don't understand French. I had to get out of the motorhome (not much room between the bus and the wall) in a strong wind and ripped open my arm to pay the $48.50 fee. Bad end to a nice trip.
Trish L — Google review
One of the drive that I have always been waiting to do is to drive on the Confederarion Bridge. Great view of the red earth on PEI when you are approaching. Also the scenic view from both ends truly shows how a great engineering masterpiece this is. There is no toll entering the island but you will pay $50.xx upon leaving from the bridge. It is still one amazing drive that I can cross out from my to-drive list.

This is the longest bridge which was built on cold water ocean, and also the longest bridge in Canada, and the only way enter Prince Edward Island without use ferry. Just the toll is soooooo expensive! Only collect toll in out-island direction, and it cost $51.25!!

Yay, JJ was here to see the bridge in 2016! Nice view under the sunshine.

Very impressive! The confederation bridge is the longest bridge in the world and an engineering marvel! It is 8 miles long built over the high sees that freezes in the winter. It is free to cross to the island but there's a fee of approx CAD$50 to leave the island.
Unfortunately if you're driving a sedan you can't see much on either side while driving because of the approx 4 feet high walls on both sides. However once you arrive on the island you can make a right turn and there os an area that you can park and see the bridge that you just crossed.

If you are traveling to PEI or so happen to be close to the bridge, this is a must stop at place to see the bridge. It's massive!!
Crossing it is nice but he warned you'll be paying 50$ to cross back into New Brunswick. It's a great experience and there's a lighthouse in the distance to look at if you like those as well!

It's a cool bridge. No stopping though so if you want pictures, wait until you get across the bridge. There is an info centre where you can drive up to and get photos.

A marvel of civil engineering and a great convenience being able to come and go to/from PEI without having to wait for a ferry.
Free to drive on to PEI...$48.50 CAD exit toll for a passenger car (2021)

Drive over the bridge for the first time today. That felt surreal to be finally here. The views are so beautiful. It's quite the experience. We turned right off the bridge and took some pics there.

The drive on the bridge is beautiful overlooking the water on both sides. The only bad part is quite a high toll when you leave PEI . You do not pay anything when you enter PEI but you do have to pay the toll when leaving , no matter how many times you do that in a day. There is no 24hour pass or anything as of now. The only convenience for frequent travellers is that they can leave island through the express lane where they do automatic scan and deduct money rather than you having to stand at the window each time to pay. The prices vary depending on the kind of vehicle. Its 50.25$ for the 2-axle vehicles like cars or light trucks.

It was my first time driving through the bridge. The structural design while on the bridge is ordinary, but off the bridge, the view is awesome!
There's a toll on the way back from the island.

A modern engineering marvel. The bridge is tall and long. It gets quite windy on the bridge so drive carefully. I would recommend taking the time to drive over and see PEI

My father consulted on this bridge design when it was being proposed over 20 years ago and it is truly an engineering marvel. 25 km in length and high above the sea level, it is has great views of the ocean and you can look forward and back at the bridge itself which is fantastic. There is no cost to going onto PEI, but it costs $50 per car when you leave the island. The bridge is single lane, but there is little traffic and generally cars are not speeding as they seem to be enjoying the unique experience.

Confederation bridge it is really a marvelous structure by humans... 12km long with 190m with single structure.... but you can only enjoy the view in semi trucks, buses and high vehicles... for the cars its just look like a normal bridge....and I am truck driver and cross this bridge 5 to 6 time in a week...
Kawal — Google review
Passed through it early May 2023, the toll fee was $50.25 paid by credit card. It runs about 8 miles (13 km) and it's truly an engineering marvel. It's a beautiful bridge that's very well-maintained very smooth. Going back to PEI, we were able to take a detour to take a picture of the bridge. It's quite a sight!
Ruichi — Google review
Great bridge connecting New Brunswick and PEI - it's 12.9km long, and will cost you ~$50 for a standard vehicle to get across. There's a max speed, so would generally take around 10 minutes to get across. The toll is collected when leaving PEI, and counts as the round trip payment.

Pete Luckett's Luckett Vineyards is an award-winning vineyard with easy-drinking wines that offers a scenic hillside location, excellent dining menu and hospitality.
A highlight of our trip through Nova Scotia and PEI. Beautiful landscape and gardens, great service, and delicious things to sip and eat! We went home with 4 bottles and a variety of artisan goods (candles, snacks). We phoned our kids from the red phone booth in the vineyard, it was adorable. Definitely recommend stopping in, but go early - we were told it gets quite busy with tours later in the day.

Based on a local friend's recommendation, we stopped by Luckett Vineyards for wine tasting. We arrived around lunch time and decided to have lunch as well. We were seated at the tent which has a propane heater so it was good even it was only 9c today. The staff were super friendly and the food was delicious and not overpriced. The phone booth on the vineyard is good for a selfie.

Had a great time visiting the vineyard! The wine tasting was very be affordable for 12$. The selections was pretty good. My favorite was their white and rose wine selections.
The bistro was decent! No wait time.
We had the charcuterie board which was delicious. We ordered the fries and as someone reviewed before, they are good but over seasoned which made it hard for me to heat the fries half way through the dish. I'd still recommend coming to the winery!

I am being generous because the food was greatly lacking. The mussels we got have been fresher in Ontario and this is right beside where you get them from. The service in the tasting flight was good, really loved the product he is selling. The buried wine has a great back story to it…bought 3 to enjoy at home. Oh and the gardens….wow a thing of beauty.

Absolutely gorgeous setting with views across the valley.
Well maintained dining area and tasting room.
Seems to be a well oiled machine.
We visited on the weekend and it was insanely busy with a long queue to purchase products in the store.
Wait times to be seated for food were short and food promptly arrived.
My wifes drink took forever to appear, she was almost done eating before it arrived.
I ordered the steak pie dish and it was a little underwhelming, while I know you can't produce a fully cooked from scratch pie in 15 minutes it did seem like it was pre cooked and then finished to serve. The flavor was a little bland. Which is disappointing as we were looking forward to trying it.
The fries that came with it were however awesome.
The staff seemed nice but a little run off their feet.
Worth a visit if only for the wine and views.

While it was one of the most pretty wineries, the food service was closed during open hours and the bar staff at the wine tasting service were apathetic and unenthusiastic. The worst experience of all our wine tastings in the region. Their Rose's all taste similar. The tidal vintage was very refreshing and tasty and the red phone booth was a unique element that had many people trying for pictures. Extremely commercialized. If the bistro is open, it might be worth the visit but the wine leaves me wanting.

Incredible view to match the incredible hospitality! We recently attended the drag show here and had the best time. The service was above and beyond, the food delicious with super generous portions, and the phone box rosé was refreshing and delicious. I highly recommend planning your visit to coincide with the "golden hour" just as the sun starts to go down over the valley.

A must stop for the area. Whether you love wine, food or a good atmosphere, you will enjoy your time here. Lunch was lovely and along with a short tour and wine tasting, it was a complete experience. The store has a variety of wines, books, memorabilia and more for wine fans. Strongly recommended. Be sure to check out the red phone booth of soon-to-be international fame.

We visited Luckett Vineyards this past weekend and we were both very pleased with our experience! We did the wine tasting and lunch at the winery. We loved the wines.. I especially enjoyed their Tidal Bay wine. It was raining quite heavily so we didn’t spend much time outside, but we would love to return to be able to walk around the vineyard more.
Nadine Lovell — Google review
Beautiful winery with a large and bright tasting room that is adjacent to their restaurant. Came on a Monday during grad week, so it was very busy for the restaurant side, but the tasting side was quiet. The lovely young lady pouring for us knew most of the tasty notes, so was able to keep the conversation going. The wines were all bright and acidic (non-reds tasted) with a fun red phone booth in the vineyard that was actually from the UK. Not my fav in the region as I found the ones I tried lacked depth. Will try the premiums next time. I did buy the cans and boy were they fun. The bubbly rose was an easy crowd pleaser. The wine spritzers were well balanced and so easy to drink on a hot summer day or in your backpack to enjoy after a hike as they are in the 250 mL can format.
Lunch: Very tasty sandwiches that gave satisfying bites. A small incident with the chowder, but the server was quick to fix. It was a very busy day so food took a bit and with only 3 servers, patience was needed. Luckily at the end, they pulled staff from the tasting room to support the servers as they were running. Overall a tasty lunch with great view into the vineyard as the room was bright with high ceilings.

We had high expectations for Luckett Vineyards as we heard about this place from different sources and they all have enjoyed it. The wine tasting and the ambiance were both excellent. For an affordable price of just $12, we were able to try out different wines straight from the winery! I really enjoyed their selection of white wine, especially the Riesling. However, the bistro was extremely disappointing. Wait time was slightly longer than expected, especially when we went after lunch rush hours, around 2 pm. The appetizer (breadboard and salad) were both decent. The biggest issue we had were the entrees and the fries. Seafood chowder was mediocre at best, as we could taste the fishiness. The brisket + Pickle sando was very bland, and the baguette bread used for the sandwich was very hard to bite into. Seasoning issue was also present in Tomato + Avo sandwich. The dealbreaker for us was the fries that came with in both dishes. They were both extremely over seasoned, as the picture shows. Very disappointing experience.

Very nice winery in Wolfsville. Situated overlooking Minas Basin and has gained a tourist magnet with the phone booth. The wines are relatively expensive, but the quality speaks for itself. Would be happy to find this also in Europe.
Unfortunately, the bistro and the store is only open until 4/5 pm. Dinner a little later would have been nice. Maybe then on the next visit.
The Grand-Pré National Historic Site is a museum in Nova Scotia that tells the story of the deportation of the Acadian people and their descendants. It features gardens, a church, and a statue of Evangeline, a heroine from American poet Henry Wadsworth Longfellow's novel Evangeline: A Tale of Acadie.
Though the visitor center is now closed for the season we were able walk some of the paths. The site is beautiful: well maintained, groomed and preserved. When we first entered the main site we were greeted by the sculpture of Evangeline. That set the tone and mood for the rest of the visit. It was truly a beautiful and peaceful walk.

Simple, but beautiful and serene gardens surrounding a heartbreaking testimony of the Canadian history: the deportation of the Acadians. A place of learning and remembering. The church building is one of a kind with its stone and red wood facade, and tall bell tower.

Beautifully preserved area right on the coast and a well done museum that focuses on the expulsion of the Acadians in the 1700’s. Lovely gardens with a monument to Henry Wadsworth Longfellow as he was the author of “Evangeline”, a poem about an Acadian woman who was exiled by the British.
I walked about 2 miles on the Grand Pre trail from the Lightfoot & Wolfsburg winery to get there. Nice flat trail along the coast, saw several eagles along the way. The Grand Pre winery and the Mercator winery can be visited by heading off the trail up to the the main street.

Visiting the Grand Pre historic site just outside of Wolfville, Nova Scotia, was a truly impactful and inspiring experience for my partner and me. Learning about the deportation of the Acadians and delving into our Nova Scotian history was a journey of cultural and historical significance.
The site's preservation was remarkable, allowing us to witness history come alive. The dedication of the staff to preserving and sharing this important part of our heritage was unparalleled, adding to the depth of our exploration.
As we explored the grounds, we were immersed in the past, walking through a blacksmith's shop, a church, and beautifully adorned gardens. The welcome center provided an opportunity to dive deeper into the Acadian story, with an exhibit, gift shop, gallery, and theater.
The short film in the theater was a powerful and emotional experience, shedding light on the tragedies and atrocities faced by the Acadians during their deportation. As an adult, I now understand the historical impact of this event, and it has given me a profound sense of empathy for my ancestors' struggles in L' Acadie centuries ago.
Being in this sacred place connected me deeply to my ancestral roots and the land's significance. The experience left me with a stronger connection to my heritage, allowing me to appreciate the strength and resilience of my Acadian ancestors.
I highly recommend a visit to the Grand Pre historic site for anyone interested in exploring our rich history and understanding the cultural significance of the Acadian deportation. This meaningful journey will leave you with a greater appreciation for our shared past and a sense of connection to the land that holds our heritage.

Parks Canada has done a great job with the Grand-Pré NHS - kudos! Large car park with not many vehicles there - was surprised. And thank you for the EV charging stations! We were greeted inside by one of the park employees who explained the basics of the park, and the facility. We gladly purchased admittance tickets and took a break from our travels to watch the multi-media presentation, very impressively done! And informative.
We left the facility to take a walk around the park - on the other side of the old railroad tracks (hard to believe there was a large station platform here) we saw Evangeline's statue and the Memorial Church (which has its own exhibits inside). Back to the visitor centre we checked out the museum display and got some drinks at their shop before ending our stay here.

A really great museum for a quick visit. Lots of information thou, you can either spend 10 minutes if you just look at stuff but, you can be there for an hour if you read and learn all the interesting facts about Nova Scotia and his geological richness. You're going to learn not only about the Canadian dinosaurs but, also about some cool and beautiful rocks that you can find in the region (Bay of Fundy) and in Nova Scotia. Our kids were amazed and we were too, really well organized and maintained museum. Now with COVID-19 it is sparkling clean and with some different security measures so, please call ahead or book online to make sure you won't lose your time. It is not their fault, they're just doing the right thing by being cautious about the situation.
And for dog owners, they have a small fenced area on a tree shade that you can lock your dog while you're visiting. That's for small dogs only thou. I saw a bigger wooden fence but, not sure if it was part of the museum.

An informative museum that has many exhibits on geology and dinosaurs. A great place to visit on a rainy day or with kids. Despite the whole museum exhibit area being no bigger than three whole gyms, they used the space very well with every corner and available area packed with information and interactive exhibits. There is also a window that you can peek into the lab and see what an actual geologist is doing. Despite it being a Saturday, someone was in there washing the sediments from the rocks. There is also a small gift shop by the entrance. Lots of parking available.

A great little museum with a wealth of educational content!
The museum has changed over the years and I appreciate the latest update! They have enough appeal for all ages ( a craft activity station for kids and a dinosaur dig sand pit) and dinosaur decor everywhere!
There is a location where you can watch fossils being prepared and they have a beach tour as well!
You can also go out to their dig site a few times in the summer but the prices are quite steep.
Gift-shop has a lot of fun things but I wish they had more personalized items ( such as shirts featuring the local dinosaurs, not generic shirts with the museum name printed on the sleeve)
The UNESCO World Heritage Site of Joggins Fossil Cliffs is a dramatic coastal cliff and coal face with embedded fossilized trees and marine life. The cliffs and coal face are full of interesting geological features, including waterfalls and rock formations. The visitor can explore the site on their own or take a guided tour. There are picnic tables and toilets available for use, as well as binoculars for looking through.
Love this place. I have been here several times and it is always a delight. The grounds are spectacular and the museum is great. The staff is helpful and very knowledgeable. You can view the footprints of creatures frozen where they once walked. They have a great record of plant, invertebrate and vertebrate life within fossils.

I STRONGLY suggest to take the guided tour. It makes the experience a thousand times better. Our guide was passionnate and knowledgeable. I feel that without a guide, the cliffs are not as interesting since you wouldn't know what to look at.

An out of this world past comes alive in this rock strewn beach that is to be visited at low tide.

Certainly, a must see if you are in the area. This is a unique place, but requires a climb up and down 3 flights of stairs that are not too strenuous. May not be appropriate for very small children, especially toddlers.
There are fossils everywhere! Look for the lines from trees and tree branches. You have to be cognizant of the tides, as you can get caught in an incoming tide, especially if you wander too far down the shoreline close to the change in tides.
Definitely recommend.

I will start by saying I’m not much of a fossil person. My thoughts are that if you have the time to drive here, it’s cool to look at and see. If you don’t have the time you really aren’t missing much. It’s free to go and see it but you can pay for a tour to learn more if interested.

An old relic of N.S that is lovely to visit and go fossil hunting ! Very calming and relaxing activity to do on your own or with others. Beautiful beach with nice cliffs and sprawling rock formations and interesting rocks that are fossils in huge abundance!
Inside the Joggins museum they have a brilliant display of rocks, fossils and the history of that area.
A note to those who plan a journey here. Plan your visit in accordance to the tides. Our visit was timed near the tide coming in, the tide cane in quickly and abruptly ended our fossil hunt. We nanaged to get in a solid 35 or so mins but could of gone longer, that would of been nice.

Me and the family had a great time here. Check the tides and plan to show up about and hour before low tide. Bring lots of water and proper foot wear as the beach can be a little rough. Take your time and look around. You can find alot of new fossils every day if you have a good eye.

Such an amazing experience! We decided to stop in on a whim on the way back from PEI and pretty much had the place to ourselves once we waited out high tide. My time listed below for waiting is strictly because we arrived an hour before the tide went out. The wait time to buy a ticket was under 5 minutes so we went around the museum while we waited.
The walk down to the beach might be difficult for some, so just keep that in mind if you're looking to visit. Make sure you bring an extra pair of socks and shoes too, it can get a little wet!
Hopewell Rocks Provincial Park, also known as Flowerpot Rocks due to its natural pinnacles and arches, is a coastal park located in Hopewell Cape within the Bay of Fundy. The rocks have been eroded into twisted shapes by the sea and are an other-worldly sight to behold. At low tide, a two-kilometre beach appears on what was once the ocean floor, providing easy access to the 20 wave-formed stacks via a wheelchair-accessible ramp.
The are breathtaking.
We arrived around 1 and the tide was still out. We didn’t mind, but it would have been nice to see how far out it goes so if you want to do that then plan accordingly. The walk to the rocks is about 10 minutes depending how fast you walk(might be about 15 if you’re a bit slower). It is a little bit of an uphill walk back up. We stayed around and ate at the cafe while we waited for high tide at 4:30. It seems like a fair amount of time to stay at the rocks.
Highly recommend!

You do not need to book tickets in advance like Tobermory!!!
There is a huge parking lot available free of cost.
Approximately 35 dollars to get it and if you want the shuttle it's 2 dollars per person one way.
It's a steep descent and the shuttle is highly recommended for older people or for those with disabilities.
The shuttle runs every 5 minutes and is a lovely joyride.
The park is well setup with trails and off course the rocks.
They have bathrooms and a very nice gift shop on location.
There is also a museum in the main building where you can learn all about Hopewell Rocks.
The rocks themselves are a great experience where you can walk on the ocean floor during low tide and come back later during high tide to see water gushing all over where you were during low tide.
Fantastic picture spot and I sure did go crazy clicking away.
It's a lot of stairs down though to the ocean floor - so be prepared.
They do have vantage points in case you cannot use the stairs.
I believe there is both a low and high tide everyday.

Very cool experience in NB about 45 minutes from Moncton. It was interesting to walk on the ocean floor and then see the tide rise and make such a difference in 10 minutes!
We arrived at around 10am in July when the low tide was around 8am. Even then the tide was quite far out from all the rocks and we leisurely explored for over 2 hours. The high tide was around 2pm but at noon there was still lots of time to explore the floor.
I suggest you wear either sandals or waterproof shoes as it does get quite muddy in areas. I wore sneakers and they did get dirty but there’s a large shoe cleaning area at the top of the stairs to help everyone wash off.
Parking is abundant with one of the largest parking lots of maritime attractions. There is also quite a large gift shop and exhibit in the building just past the gates. All the staff was very friendly and was more than happy to answer your questions and talk about the ecosystem that you’re walking through.
The site is pet friendly and also very accessible. There are mandatory metal stairs to the ocean floor but there are multiple view points for people with mobility issues.
This is a must see attraction in the province! Even at around $16 per person (+$2 for a shuttle to skip a 15 minute walk) I would say it was a very cool experience

Visited during low tide the day after a new moon. 🌑 Incredible landscape. I’m from Oregon and found myself in awe of how similar yet different the landscape was. So many rocks! Watch out for the mud and check the tides. Despite the official website warning visitors that the park is closed in the offseason, you can visit.

Beautiful place.. but when going, make sure you know when the tides are in and out, the first time we went it was high, we weren't allowed to go down . We took our receipt back and we were able to go down the next morning. I recommend that you pay the 2$ or use a token to use the shuttle.
Mornings are best.. have fun

Exceptional natural beauty. Absolutely recommended. Visit at low tide if you want to walk between the rocks. Check their website for tide tables.
We walked down to the Flower Pot. The trail there is about 1 km and has a gentle slope that should be doable for most people. From the platform you can take a staircase with a few flights of steps down to the beach itself.
Once at the beach, I recommend first walking to the right until the end, which is a few hundred yards over stones or slightly muddy patches, then walking back, continuing past the staircase and walking to the far left end of the beach where a ramp takes you back up to the trail. This way you will see all the rocks.
Given the soil, I recommend wearing walking shoes or Wellington boots.
If you prefer not to walk, there is a paying shuttle service from the park entrance down to the viewing platforms. A one-way trip costs 2 CA$ per person and toddlers are free.
People in wheelchairs can ask the park attendants to get access to the parking near the beach. Getting down to the beach itself is possible via a wheelchair accessible ramp (the same one as described higher) but riding a wheelchair on the beach itself will probably not be possible.

This was pretty cool to see, make sure to arrive at or near low tide as this is the best time to be able to walk around and appreciate how far the tide is out, very interesting to see. As the tide comes in the staff start to close off areas of the beach that are starting to flood. we watched for a while and then came back latter when the tide was all the way in, A great way to see the extremes. There is a shuttle of sorts if you want to take it bring cash. Gift store etc., bathrooms, nice walk to the staircase going down to the sea shore. Highly recommend 2-4 hours

Very much a must do if you are in the area..even if its raining. Just remember to come at low tide. Picnic areas and restroom in the parking lot. Good food in the cafeteria. Really nice staff. On a sunny day the $2 per person shuttle may be worth it on the way back, but in the rain it was very much welcomed both ways. Memories will be made here and are a requirement.

Hopewell Rocks is a cherished destination for me and my furry friend. The descent down the trails is smooth, thanks to their excellent maintenance, allowing us to savor every moment of the journey. Arriving at the bottom, we're greeted by the awe-inspiring sight of the Bay of Fundy's iconic rock formations. From the lookout points, we're treated to panoramic views that never fail to captivate. It's a haven where nature's beauty shines, making each visit a treasured memory to hold onto.

Nice place, clean, well managed.
Must plan your trip as per tide timing. Do book for kayak in advance - we didn't get one day in advance and had to skip bcoz of tight schedule.
$14 per person entry fee, valid for two consecutive days.
The canteen/cafeteria is also good and reasonably priced.

This is totally worth every dollar to go! The view is amazing and even though it is busy there are more than enough opportunities to take fantastic photos. The hike / walk down to the rocks takes about 15 minutes and there is a shuttle that takes your down to the top of the stairs. You still have to take the 99 stairs down to the bottom! There is another area that does have a ramp to go down. At the rocks you will need to walk. Wear shoes you don’t mind getting muddy! Pets are allowed and no extra cost. There is an additional coat for the shuttle. It is $2 per person per trip and dogs are allowed on the shuttle. The line up to get in goes quick! Make sure you check the tide schedule before you go. We went August 2, 2022 from 10:30 am till 12 pm.

There's free parking. The park has these walking trails. You got to pay the admission fee to get in. There's a shuttle buses service to get to the part where you're able to walk down the stairs I assume. There are toilets along the trail pathways.
Depending on when you go, they have different opening and closing times. We went in the earlier dates so the times were from 9 am to 5 pm. You can still enter the park even after the 5 pm closing time. You don't need to pay. And there is still parking available outside of the gates. But, you may not be able to walk the ocean floor, or have enough time to enjoy your walk of the ocean floor (and to take lots of photos).
Pretty looking rocks at high tide. Nice scenery. There are multiple lookouts to see the rocks and the nearby scenery.
3:00/3:30 pm for the day that we went, we walkes on the ocean floor. And we took many photos of the Flower Pot Rocks. We took photos of the other rocks, whose names I don't remember. We walked back and forth on the ocean floor, over rocks, through mud, and through watery mud.
It's recommended to bring and wear boots, like those rain boots, hiking boots, winter boots.

The guide we talked to was informative inside the information building. Told us about the wildlife and about the Hopewell rocks.
Would recommend you spend the day here, to see the rocks in high tide/low tide and to see the rocks when there's no tide.

Great park. Fair entry valid for a couple days so you can experience both high and low tides.
The main hub area has play modules for kids. It's well maintained.
Gift shop and washrooms also available.
If you're going down to the Flower Pot Rocks, I'd recommend wearing shoes you don't care to dirty as they'll likely get mud on them. If they do, they have hoses and scrubs to clean your shoes at the top of the stairs.
Breathtaking views.

I loved everything about it! Admittedly seeing the extreme tidal change at the Bay of Fundy has been on my bucket list for a long time, finally getting to experience it did not disappoint. I definitely recommend the guided sea kayaking tour at high tide, but be sure to experience the difference at low tide either before or after, it's amazing!
Nathan Lemieux — Google review
Amazing day. Sun is out nice breeze blowing. Highly recommend this stop if in the area. The tide was going out, so there was a lot of mud but so worth going for a walk and seeing the shoreline. We spent 2.5 hours here before we knew it. I suggest going early to avoid crowds.

Hopewell Rocks offers breathtaking views, allowing you to witness the mesmerizing tides ebb and flow—a truly awe-inspiring display of nature's power. The sheer volume of water is a sight to behold. Keep in mind, though, that booking kayaks in advance is crucial to fully explore this remarkable coastal gem. Despite missing out on that, the stunning vistas alone make it a worthwhile destination for any nature enthusiast.

Absolutely amazing! The hike down was marked well. They offer a shuttle if you can't walk the 10 minute hike to the staircase. Your ticket is good for 2 days and you can come and go as many times as you would like. The walk along the beach/ocean floor was picture perfect. Wish I could have seen it at high tide as well.

Really beautiful and unique experience. Definitely recommend visiting. The earlier you go, the less busy it’ll be; the parking lot fills up pretty quickly!

This place is a must see! The views are amazing. We went at low tide and were able to enjoy walking through the rocks and walking to the water. It's super muddy when you go at low tide so wear old shoes or sandals. There is beautiful trails with lots of plants and fungus to see. You can also shuttle to and from the top. At the entrance to the experience there is a gift shop and tiny educational museum. We had a great experience.

Beautiful park, well worth a visit. Walk the bay floor at low tide . Experience the bay of Fundy up close. Check tide schedule before heading out to make sure you arrive at the right time. Ticket is valid for 2 days so you can experience it during low and high tide. Hike down to the bay or pay extra and take to golf cart ( great option for those with mobility issues or tight timelines) $2 each way for the cart . To get to the bottom completely there are several sets of stairs ,there is a viewing platform for those you cant make the trek down . There is also a more accessible beach down the way but doesn't have all the interesting rock formations. Pay attention to the times of tides , if you get stranded your rescue will cost you a pretty penny. Restaurant and nice gift shop with a kids playground located at the top near the parking lots. Lots of bathrooms along the way. Good boots recommended as it's get muddy walking around . Boot cleaning station available.

well groomed walking trails that are accessible. portable toilets along the route washroom available at start and end of trail. foot wash station for after your visit to the ocean floor.

An incredible few hours spend here witnessing the lowest part of the tide, to start, with the gorgeous sunshine and gentle breeze… plus getting covered in mud, but that’s all part of the fun and adventure. Don’t go wearing your best shoes and clothes if you want to walk on the ocean floor.
We stayed long enough to then with was the high tide coming in until it reached its maximum, what a dramatic effect and difference it is, completely changing the landscape, it’s incredible and makes for some stunning pictures.
Be sure to check out the view points for gorgeous as well as the tranquil Plage de Demoiselles Beach.

Wonderful touristic spot in a beautiful small town. The giant lobster in Shediac is an iconic site you need to visit, take a photo in and look around in the visitor info area and the souvenirs shops. You will find treasures made by locals in the big red barn and many social-media-worth spots to get nice pictures.
Just park and walk around, it's a lovely place.

Glad we stopped here on the way to Confederation Bridge for Prince Edward Island from Moncton, NB. Parking gets full easily. That speak volumes of its popularity. Challenging to find spot for bigger vehicles.

A really fantastic sculpture, very realistic with lots of detail and great for getting selfies, especially with the steps added to get to the top. This was a must see on our trip, Shediac is the lobster capital only the world after all! Even if you are just driving through to get to P.E.I, it’s worth a stop to take a look and snap some pictures. We were out of season but from what we understand lots of shops and food places are open in the summer.

Loved it! Probably the biggest lobster I will ever try to eat (I did not succeed). Great place to take pictures with it and show off to people who couldn't. The captain was the silent type and for some reason kept looking at the birds. Came early May before the season opened and we basically were alone. For sure would visit it again another time!

The gift shops are full of everything! Can get food there too. Around the lobster was busy so you do have to wait until you can get a picture if you don't want anyone else in it. There is alot of parking but it was full when we went during the week. There is also the lobster museum that offers tours in English and French, they do a presentation and there are touch tanks.

Great place to stop. We just wanted a picture with the lobster but we ended up taking the Homarus tour. $12/adult $8/child, totally worth it. We learned a lot about lobsters, and even got to touch them. The hands on touch tanks were a huge hit. Kids help crabs, start fish and sea urchins.
The little shops are cute and reasonably priced as well.

What a beautiful experience. Because of health issues, I'm trying to do things I would never do before it's too late. Zip lining is one of them because of fear of heights. If it wasn't for the staff at each station from paying...suiting me up....and at the top of the platform encouraging me n my friend....we both would have backed out half way up the stairs ...but at each station , the workers made you feel like you could do it. Zip Lining.....check!

The Irving Eco-centre, Dune de Bouctouche, is a secluded and unpopulated area situated on Route 475 in New Brunswick. Its name originates from the Mi'kmaq term "Great little harbour" referring to the nearby town of Bouctouche. This beach destination features a beautiful 12km-long dune, which is one of the longest on North America's East Coast.
Revisit this place after winter. Love the boardwalk and nice beach view! Very well-maintenance place! What's a windy rainy shiny April day! Feeling contented for an off day!

Parking lot is on the opposite side of the road. Short walk from there to the boardwalk. The boardwalk has to be moved and rebuilt periodically as the dunes shift and storms hit so the current structure might not be the one you saw a few years ago. Beautiful spot.

I'll have to return this summer to truly experience the beach. I went there for the eclipse and it was high tide so not much beaching to be done, and washrooms were not open. It was nice sand and if you have binoculars you can look across to PEI! I imagine a lovely beach day could be had in summer! Lots of shells to check out

Both my lovely wife Pat and I enjoyed walking amongst this amazing sand dune.
The well-built boardwalks were a pleasure to walk along and the views were fantastic.
Hope this place continues to exist for many more years.
Both our dogs would have enjoyed it, but dogs are not allowed on the dune. We understand they have a dog service (dog sitting), but we opted to leave our 2 in the vehicle since it was perfect weather for it (not too hot and not too cool).
Tony Bercowski — Google review
We enjoyed a lovely relaxing walk on the board walk along the sand dunes. In speaking with a very pleasant lady who was setting up some fencing, we learned that the sand dunes have been greatly affected by major storms like Fiona that have come through the area. As a result the dunes are decreasing in length. Most importantly, vegetation and sea shells must remain undisturbed so they can continue to nourish the soil and keep the remaining sand dunes thriving for all of us to enjoy! There was no cost and staff were very friendly and welcoming. Well worth the visit!

Walked on the raised boardwalks of the dune beach. It's a short walk, not that long, probably a 30 min walk if you take your time really.
Along the way, there are these information displays about the nature/wildlife found there.
There are these information buildings at the beginning of the walk pathways. There's the main one with a person in it who will answer your questions and help you out. There's the second building that has a mini information museum.
It was an enjoyable walk. Though we went on a day that was cloudy, rainy, and super windy. Would have been better if there was sun and less wind.
Check the weather before you come here.

This is a great place to go when you want to explore different ecosystems. There's the beach, boardwalk, forest, open land. The park is free with free parking across the road. The Eco-centre main building and washrooms were closed, since I visited in the late fall. There is plenty of free parking, on both sides of the main entrance. The boardwalk tower has a pair of binoculars that gives you a clear view of P.E.I and is lovely at any time of year.

Pat, my lovely wife and I, live not far from this fabulous casino. We first visited this establishment just after the height of COVID back in 2021. Restrictions were still in place. Gambling tables were not open. Buffet was still closed down and attendance was low. Shows were still not taking place.
Some time later, Pat and I have been delighted to have attended one of the first showings, since COVID restrictions, in their large stage area (Buddy Holly tribute). Seats were not packed since many people were still playing it safe and staying home. The shows venue and performance was fantastic.
We've both enjoyed a few meals in the casino's small restaurant within the casino's main floor area next to the many gambling machines.
We have also been to their large buffet area for at least one of each of the afternoons they are open. Each night open there is a different special and selection (repeats every week).
We strongly recommend obtaining their membership card, if of age, for meal savings at every visit (cost nothing).
Be careful, it's very easy to gain weight at their buffet. So many items to choose from and we've yet to find something we didn't like. Meals are delicious and I always have trouble leaving room for dessert, but I do manage. Even with their desserts, the choices are many.
Weve learnt that if one needs a dessert without sugar, just ask one of the attendants and they will happily bring an item out from behind their separation wall.
This is but another place Pat and I enjoy being able to treat ourselves to once in a while, here in Moncton, NB.
Neither of us are big gamblers but we do enjoy meandering through the Gambling area on our way out (buffet is at the far end of the casino floor).
Pat and I have brought loved ones to this place more than once and will continue doing so in future, God willing.
Since we live so close to this casino, renting a room has never been a consideration but, from what we've seen, we're sure they're well kept.
Both of us have enjoyed walking their main hotel corridor which displays past celebrities that have performed and stayed at this fine casino/hotel.
We have also driven along their back parking lot to check out the many different campers using their lot for temporary parking. Very nice layout and compassionate of the owners to allow campers with limited parking.

Our room was cleaned once during our 4 night stay.
The checkin staff refused to even entertain checking us in early, citing that our room wasn’t ready at 3pm. He was very rude and condescending. Yet the cleaning staff informed us they stopped cleaning at 2pm and all rooms were ready.
The pool and spa conveniently closed the first day of the YQM festival and reopened the day it ended.
They hyped up the amazing shower in the king suites, that was a major disappointment. It was a large shower that was narrow, without shelves and just had 1 single shower head.
The lighting in the room was absolutely terrible.
The staff in the bar/casino area were lovely.
Overall the experience was underwhelming and definitely not worth the money paid to stay there.

Terrible dining experience....30 dollars each upfront plus they asked for a 10 dollar tip up front...30 minute wait....prime rib was cold and dry.....canned gravy....powdered potatoes....and fried chicken was absolutely rancid.....never again!

The buffet host with blonde hair has the LEAST welcoming vibe in the history of restaurants. If she's trying to do an impression of someone who hates her life then someone should let her know that we get it already. LADY, why do you hate every restaurant customer? People are afraid to ask you a question because of your overall demeanor. CHANGE your attitude and stop being such a stuck up RESTAURANT MANAGER and ruining people's dinner.

Great place to spend a nice evening. Casino was good. We didn't win, but that's the risk of gambling, lol. The dealers were really friendly. The hotel was amazing. Really large room with a super comfortable bed. Will definitely return.

Buffet is not the greatest but that is all you have to compare it with locally I guess it's ok a bit pricey for what they have to offer. The main course was pork belly.
Magnetic Hill Zoo, situated approximately 15 minutes away from Moncton city, is a vast wildlife park that houses over 400 domestic and exotic animals. It also boasts a towering playground, barnyard, and pony rides for visitors to enjoy. The zoo is the largest of its kind in Atlantic Canada and was named fourth on Canada's top ten zoos list in 2008.
The zoo is absolutely beautiful and such a lovely big space to walk around! The playground is amazing for kids as well. All the animals seem very well taken of 😊

We go to the Wild Lights display annually and it is always a magical time for the whole family. Our daughter (8) and her best friend have a blast. This year was a significant improvement from last - more lights, better maintained (last year a lot were out), and we loved the musical light display at the barn area. We were also glad to see some animals were NOT out - specifically last year the panther was out and was visibly distressed being directly across from a loud music and moving light display. We also stop for a Beaver Tail - and was pleased to see the dining area well spaced out and sanitizing wipes available to clean tables. However the lines we congested without adequate space for distancing. Also noticed a lot of dropped masks and some refuse in the walkways.
Wins - Light displays, affordability, playground, food and drink options, clean bathrooms, clear marking for walking and directions, and full evening of enjoyment.

Our first date was at the Magnetic Hill Zoo and we make an annual visit on each NYE. This year was one of the better visits for sure as tons of new lights and even the barn lights were sync'd to the music. It makes a perfect date location and so much fun to see all the lights!

It's been years since I've been to the zoo but decided to take my kids here for an afternoon. We went in October so there were some cute pumpkin/photo ops and some interesting exhibits and enclosures. The petting zoo was fun to feed the deer and goats as well and I'm so happy they finally have it fenced in rather than letting all the animals roam free like before. All that being said, the prices here were insane. 3 adults and 2 children for $64 and to top it off, they don't even provide you a map of the grounds. We were asked if we wanted to buy a map to help with "conservation". We exited through the gift shop and the prices there were equally as wild (excuse the pun). I was also a bit disappointed none of the food vendors were opened but perhaps because it's the off-season it wasn't available. Overall it was a fun afternoon for the kids but nowhere we'll be back to anytime soon due to the cost.

Perfect place to spend the day with kids. Lots to see as well as interactive experiences. Book ahead to avoid the line. Have loonies on hand for the feed stations. Kids can also do horseback riding for 7.00.

I recently visited this zoo, and I was thoroughly impressed by the wide variety of animals they have on display. From majestic lions to playful otters and everything in between, it's a diverse collection that caters to all animal enthusiasts.
What stood out even more was the impeccable cleanliness and well-maintained enclosures. The animals appeared healthy and content. The zoo's commitment to conservation and education was evident in their informative exhibits and interactive programs. It's a perfect family-friendly destination that provides a memorable and educational experience for visitors of all ages.
Went back again after the winter. I might just keep coming back.

This place is very well taken care of. The kids always love the huge park it’s a great spot for them to burn off some energy in the middle of our venture through the park. The animals appear to be well taken care of with reasonably sized enclosures. Come down from Truro every year. Can’t wait to go back.

It was interesting that the Magnetic Hill has a zoo. The price was quite surprisingly cheap ($9 for adults) and even cheaper for kids. We came early May during off season and there was no waiting time. The animal selection is just ok compared to other zoo I've been to, but it was still fun. The zoo was quite clean and well-maintained. It takes about an hour to an hour and half for us to see everything. The otters and goats were particularly cute.

This was our first visit here. was very pleased. prices are good.ànd lots of different animals to look at.
with there were more monkeysbas they are my favorite. and we went fist thing in the morning which was great for crowd wise but I think they animals would be more active later in the day. they were pretty lazy in the morning beside the otters.
also would be nice it the feeding times were posted somewhere for us to see.
the gift shops were very nice lots to choose from.
also don't forget to bring some change for the couple of spot you can feed a few of the different animals. they also do pony rides for kids 12 and under inthink it was $7.00

During the winter the zoo has a beautiful display of lights. Definitely worth taking that walk. You get to see some animals and you can enjoy a hot cup of cocoa and stay warm by a fireplace before continuing the walk and at the end you can stop at the souvenir store. lots of variety in items.

It was ok, I visited zoo where animals seemed more happy, had a better place to evolve, more space. The pumas just walked along the same path, so did the wolf, left me a bit sad. It make me think of the prisoner who walk the same path every day. I think it's the fence, there's too much of it. The Halloween decorations was top notches.

One hour fun for kids to roam inside watching animals seemed to be tired always. We see few play areas for kids and here and there bottled can vending machines and shops with snacks and drinks. We missed the water splash and dry games within the same area, soon next time! One day trip will be more fun ❤️

Although we only had a chance to view the Africa area, we were impressed with the animals and the facilities. The parking was ok, we were lucky to find a spot around noontime. We went to magnetic hill park to experience magnetic hill. When we got to the hill itself, it was an absolute cluster F of vehicles going in all directions. They tell you to move over to the left lane beside the white post. Vehicles were trying to exit in the same lane. While we were waiting our turn, the guy in front of us got out of his vehicle and started yelling at us to put our vehicle in neutral and start rolling backwards even though it wasn’t our turn. Once we had our turn, it wasn’t what it’s cracked up to be - in our opinion. You’re rolling backwards down a slight grade to gain momentum to go upgrade? We got frustrated and left.
If anyone from the park Is reading this review, please take note that there needs to be staff coordinating traffic in this area or more signage in place in the area to direct people in lanes and where to wait their turn. As someone else stated in their review, it’s only a matter of time before there’s a fender bender.
I’m sure the rest of the park is a great attraction, but until this park sorts out this traffic coordination issue, don’t waste your money and time on this.

Everything about Fundy is special to me. Been going there camping my whole life in NB and it's my favourite spot here in the province, and now we take our kids to start learning to love it too. If you want that special time outdoors with your family Fundy has it all, hikes, ocean, camping, parks, and all of it is focused on nature and appreciation for the outdoors. Clean well maintained federal park, services aplenty and some of the best hiking in the Atlantic provinces.

I completes Mathews head trail first. Lots of mud and exposed roots. Gotta be careful you don't hit a tree root and roll your ankle. There is a collection of walking sticks at the start of the trail. I recommend taking one (and returning it) for use during the uphill parts.

We were going to drive from Quebec to PEI with no stops in New Brunswick. We ended up staying in this park for 15 days and still felt like we needed more time! Unreal hikes without the crowds you get in other places. Campgrounds get VERY busy and loud but it is a great place to vacation. The Salmon River hike is great, and quiet. Waterfall hikes and hikes along Fundy Bay are also amazing.

The Fundy Trail Parkway is a stunning and scenic coastal area that boasts magnificent lookout points, hiking trails, sandy beaches, cascading waterfalls, and historical monuments. This picturesque stretch of land offers visitors an opportunity to immerse themselves in the beauty of nature and witness the rugged coastline up close. The trail meanders through lush forests alongside the Bay of Fundy before opening onto breathtaking vistas that are sure to take your breath away.
St Martins Sea Caves is a picturesque location formed by the Bay of Fundy, accessible via trails during low tide. A short distance from the city lies Fundy Trail Parkway, offering a 16 km coastal drive dotted with stunning viewpoints, hiking paths, beaches and an interpretive center. Visitors can opt for guided tours or self-exploration. Rubber boots are recommended to cross a stream that leads to the water and reach the sea caves up close.
Really nice place in the morning with the tide out! Just bring rubber boots to cross a stream that leads to the water in order to get right up next to the sea caves unless you don't mind your feet getting a little wet 👍

Nice beach, the low tide exposes a couple of shallow caves that are off limits to the public due the danger of falling overhead rocks. The caves are nothing fabulous but the idea of receding seawater and accessing the caves is nice. The beach is rocky and in some parts you'll need to step into small shallow streams to get to the caves so be sure to wear beach shoes. A couple decent restaurant, a souvenir shop and icecream shop are walking distance. Good fun for a day.

Wow, just absofruitly wow, highly recommend visiting on low tide to get the most out of this place. I recommend boots as even on low tide there giant puddles that might prevent you from getting access to some really cool spots. Also got to see some really things like shrimps, crabs and live clams/mussels.

Nice free activity. Get there close to low tide to see the caves best. Wear water shoes or rubber boots. There is a stream you must cross and the ground around the rocks is slippery and wet. Do not dawdle or you may be caught by the ocean coming back in.

Went to see the Caves on a cruise ship excursion that was 3 hours in length. Since a full tide change is 6 hours and all I saw was mid high to mid low exposure. When you visit the Bay of Fundy you should allocate a full tidal change to get a feel for how far and fast the tides are here. Disappointed, unable to explore caves. but it was a very cool, scenic area non the less.

Beautiful spot, ample parking if you come before 11 on the weekend, and lots of little restaurants and ice cream nearby to enjoy before/after you walk at low tide. The pebble beach was a little bit treacherous for me in slides, I would probably go with closed toe shoes next time that won’t get rocks stuck in my shoes next time.

Went at low tide and walked way out into the bay! Had to cross a small stream of water to get to the "caves"! Boy, it was cold! I was a little disappointed as they are really not caves, but just erosion produced openings in the rock walls. They don't go very far back either and are roped off because of rocks falling down. But, it was fun to walk so far out into the bay where the water was at high tide!! Wear water shoes as you do have to walk in the water to get over to the "caves". Depending on when you go, the stream can be as low as ankle deep and then just gets higher the closer to high tide you are. Try to get there an hour before low tide so you'll have plenty of time to explore the area before the water starts coming back in!!

Great place to visit during the world's largest tides. Two huge caves make perfect tourist attractions for everyone. Kids to adults.
Situated near 2 famous restaurants. You can park free of charge. And a small walk on the beach during low tide time. Or try kayaking when high tide hits.
Make sure to wear boots or water shoes even at low tide. You have to cross a small creek to visit inside caves. Can be muddy. But it looks amazing.

One of the oldest farmers market in Canada. Lots of history here. Love the architecture and interior space. However when I visited in October 2021, there were only a few vegetable vendors. Must have been a slow time as not all the stalls are open during the lunch hour rush. A lot of food selections of all ethnicities to choice from like deli, Korean and Lebanese. We opted for the Korean and can say not the best we’ve had as it was cafeteria style and pre-made food. The chicken and rice cakes was in a sweet and sour sauce that was just too sweet and no heat.

The Reversing Falls is a renowned natural attraction located in Saint John City. This attraction is famous for its tidal rapids on the Saint John River, which offers an excellent opportunity for whitewater kayaking enthusiasts. The observation deck also provides an ideal spot to view this spectacular phenomenon. The Bay of Fundy's high tides, among the highest in the world, can result in significant variations from high to low tide of up to 16 meters or about five-story building equivalent.
No other visitors were here.
This is as seen in Wie is de Mol 2003 Episode 4.

It's unfortunate that such a rare natural phenomena plays second fiddle to things like the Irving paper and pulp company. It's a very interesting event to experience, but a pretty wretched environment to experience it in. This is a must see. It’s important to take every at opportunity to learn from nature as you can. On top of that it’s pretty cool, and the view is great. The city really needs to figure out how to make it easier to navigate to the tourist facility because vehicles are consistently driving through the mill, which is unsafe..

This is a must-see when traveling in the area. It is not often that you can see a river change course, but that is exactly what happens here several times a day. At high tide, the Bay of Fundy forces the river to flow backward, then at low tide, it changes course and flows outward. This doesn't happen quickly. You will have to stick around for a while to see this.

Reversing Falls Rapids is a Natural Wonder, also is the world’s greatest example of tidal impact upon a river.
Twice each day 100 billion tons of water, a volume equal to all of the world’s rivers … enters and exits the Bay of Fundy. At this location, water levels rise as much as 9 meters or 28 feet in a tidal cycle. Reversing Falls Rapids experiences two tidal cycles daily resulting in 2 low tides and 2 high tides. Each complete cycle is roughly 12 hours and 10 minutes. Between the tidal extremes is a calm period known as “slack tide”, this condition lasts for just 20 minutes and is the only time vessels can safely pass through the gorge.
Interestingly, five thousand years ago, sea level was 30 meters or 100 feet lower in this area. Native people living here at that time enjoyed an impressive waterfall!

A waste of time. Yes, this is a tidal river, but not with the visible force or volume many have written about, but perhaps with the spring melt-off.
We visited in early May, waited for high tide and were immediately disappointed.
Seems to be a bit of a tourist trap, and not worth the wait, or delay in your trip to other parts.
Can't recommend.

We went and saw the water going over the falls the first day. There was actually a drop, hard to tell the actual height, of maybe 15 to 25 feet. Went there the next day and the water was going the other way. Went through a neighborhood to get a different view. There was a seal going with the flow. Looked like a labrador retriever out there floating along, but it would go under water for several minutes and reappear.
Tom Rueb — Google review
Reversing Falls Rapids is one of the few things to see in Saint John. Caused by the highest tides in the world in the Bay of Fundy, the river flow reverses and causes the "rapids." You can view the falls twice a day at low and high tide from the Fallsview Park viewpoint, on the Reversing Falls Bridge, or another vantage point that offers a bird's-eye view of the river gorge.

It's an awesome sight to behold. Be prepared to coordinate your timing based on the tide schedule for the best experience. St. John has so many things to do. We go up at least once a month and love it each time.
Irving Nature Park is an expansive coastal park spanning 600 acres, featuring a range of amenities and attractions for visitors to enjoy. There are lookout points, picnic sites with grills, and a wheelchair-accessible boardwalk that passes over salt marshes - a great spot for birdwatchers. Furthermore, the park boasts six eco-systems that have been carefully preserved and optimized for public enjoyment. Visitors can explore eight walking trails of varying lengths through the lush forest and along the water's edge.
Probably the best trail I have ever walked on. It is well maintained, have staff driving through the park for monitoring, beautiful views, and the foliage smells so good. There are gravel flatter trails to walk, as well as paths through the forest that walks along side the water. Would definitely recommend visiting here.

One of the best maintained parks in St. John and very scenic too. Main gravel road branches out into different circuits with varying lengths and difficulty levels, there's something for everyone. Big parking space at the main gate and smaller parking lots across the nature park so you can stop right next to the trail you want to hike. There are some looking points almost on every trail, overlooking the bay. Great to watch the tide turn. Bbq areas and portable toilets are across the park.

This place is such a gem. We spent about 3 hours in the park walking a couple of loops as we tackled the Squirrel and Heron trails that go entirely around the perimeter of the park. You go from being surrounded by trees and quiet to sections that just open up to beautiful views of the water. It was a cool way to take in nature, get some exercise, and get away from our phones. Also to note is how well-maintained the park is! No garbage on the ground and the bathrooms we stopped at were fine (stocked with TP and hand sanitizer).
One thing that made our experience special was coming across a group that was having a small community BBQ and they invited us to join before we moved on. We obviously appreciated the offer for some snacks and drinks, but always love being able to connect with locals and talk about what it’s really like to live where we’re visiting. They were such a welcoming group and we loved meeting them!

A lovely walk or drive through a peacefully quiet park. There are numerous spots along the drive if you wish to pull over, park, eat, barbecue, use the washroom, or walk down to the water.
Free entry so I don't see why you wouldn't want to spend a couple hours here.

The park is adorned with stunning lookout points that offer breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape. Its walking trails are not only easy to navigate but also offer a delightful experience as you explore the natural beauty of the area. Additionally, the park boasts excellent picnic areas, making it the perfect spot for a leisurely lunch amidst nature.
During our visit, despite the overcast skies in the afternoon, the experience was nothing short of wonderful. A highlight was a surprise visit from a seal at the southern tip of the park, adding a touch of wildlife magic to our day. The views throughout the park are spectacular, ensuring that every moment spent here is one to remember. Whether you're a nature lover or simply looking for a peaceful escape, Irving Nature Park is definitely worth a visit.
