How long is the drive from Kimberley to Medicine Hat?
The direct drive from Kimberley to Medicine Hat is 306 mi (492 km), and should have a drive time of 6 hrs 30 mins in normal traffic.
If you’re going on a road trip from Kimberley to Medicine Hat, we did the research for you and compiled some great stops along the way — with Waterton Lakes National Park, as well as top places to visit like Cranbrook History Centre and Casino of the Rockies, or the ever-popular Moyie Lake Provincial Park.
The Waterton Lakes National Park in Canada boasts of both prairie and mountain landscapes, abundant wildlife species, and diverse vegetation. This unique national park has been designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, an International Peace Park, and a Biosphere Reserve due to its different habitats such as prairies, forests, tundra, meadows among others. One of my favorite National Park. Not as busy and more quiet than other National Parks in Alberta. Nice variety of trails for all to enjoy nature. Beautiful lake and cute village to wind down and relax.

Beautiful! What more can be said. So many amazing hiking trails. Family friendly or more advanced. Lots of washrooms available at many different trails heads or near one.
Amenities in the town are great. I've always had friendly and good service anywhere I've gone, be it a restaurant or a shop. Great picnic spots and day use areas around a beautiful lake.

A lovely park with some epic views! We recommend Cameron Lake, Bear's Hump Hike, and the views from the Prince of Wales looking back over the water. If you leave here and drive north - make sure you stop at the Grumpy Goat for some great ice cream, too..!

A place for short getaways and serenity with few options of meals within the area but no fast food chains. However there are good fried chicken, ice creams and burgers around. All within walking distance. Get a cruise down the shoreline for an amazing view of the mountains on the Waterton lake or drive a little downhill to explore some creeks and lakes or to Prince of Wales hotel for an eye opening view.

Oh my goodness! In the 30+ years I've lived in Alberta, I'd never been to Waterton until recently....and WOW! What a wonderful place to explore. There are so many hikes and trails and gorgeous spots to experience. It's a must see for locals and tourists alike!
Pictures are from the village of Waterton as well as Cameron Falls.

A must! This is a magnificent national park full of amazing pockets of beauty.
We went during the last half of September and seeing the park in autumn was simply jaw dropping. The changing colours of the leaves against a backdrop of rugged mountains, calm lakes and blue skies was like walking into a postcard.
At this time, early Fall, there weren’t many tourists which gave us a more comfortable and relaxing stay.
We spent a week here, making it our home-base while exploring other parts of Alberta. 2 days or overnight would also be good if you can’t stay any longer. A day trip to Waterton Lakes National Park would be too short a visit. This place has so much to offer.
There are many hiking trails around from easy short ones to the more challenging trails, one can select whichever is preferred.
There are many coffee shops and restaurants as well in the area, which makes taking a break or having a good solid meal ideal after a hike.

Certainly one of the best of the national parks. Plenty of things to do and gorgeous scenery. Also home to one of the best, if not the best, hiking trails in Canada. This park definitely is a must visit.

A beautiful place for few days trip.
The lake has clean water but beaches are full of pebbles n rocks so I would recommend to take pair of slippers or pool sandals to use on beaches or in the lake.
Few places to visit in the national park n few activities to do including biking, hiking, kayaking, paddle boarding, horseback riding etc.
Many times you will spot wild life too.
definitely, worth of a visit if you like water, mountain n nature.

This park is one of my absolutely favourites to visit in Alberta. The lake is gorgeous and it doesn’t matter where you choose to go in - all spots are fun for swimming. I enjoy the Main Street with the shops and restaurants. I don’t find it to be as busy as other national parks *cough cough Banff* so I feel that you get to enjoy without constantly having tourists around. Red Rock Canyon was a fun stop for the kids to splash around in nature. We will be making a yearly summer trip out as I can’t get enough!

Waterton National Park is a must visit destination. The beautiful park has many trails for hiking with much breathtaking scenery. Taking the boat tour is another great way to see more amazing views of the mountains on the Waterton lake. We went later in August, the weather was pleasant but very windy. The town's amenities are great, though the town was busy, it wasn't saturated with people.

I went there in October nothing was open but still its one of my fav trips ever. We enjoyed walking and just seeing nature super soothing. definitely going back this summer. Also super sad seeing dead trees from the fire

Beautiful and stunning national park. I could go hundreds of times and still not get sick of it. Their ice cream shop was amazing. The boats were even better. I recommend if you got some spare money you should go on the boats. Just incredible pictures.

We were personally greeted by a friendly volunteer. It turned out we were the only ones staying that night and it was a truly special experience.
The mountain and meadow views were lovely. The campsite was spacious.
There was a flush toilet, no water and no power. There were a few big buildings with picnic tables.

Only stayed here for two days, and it was better than I remembered. My last visit to this place was almost a decade ago, and I remember being bored just being here. Unfortunately, I didn't get to see many wildlife and did not do the available activities, but it was superb nonetheless. My recommendation is to bring a raincoat, jacket, and water. I would also recommend bringing equipment for hiking as well as for kayaking. Out of the three Alberta National Parks, this one is at the top despite its size. Will visit again for the hiking trails and kayaking.

It's an amazing landscape of flat land and mountains with scenic beauty. It's a must visit park to explore the landscape. If you are fortunate enough, you can spot a bear enroute red rock canyon. Bison spotting is fine too..

Highly recommend this park for summer and fall adventures. It is best experienced then. During the winter it really becomes a ghost town, but if you like cross country skiing, fat biking or winter hiking this is a good place to come in the winter too, and especially to experience the high winds this place gets.
But, for me summer is best!

Amazing National Park. Part of waterton-Glacier national international peace park, this park is huge and beautiful with breathtaking sceneries, crystal clear lakes, cascading waterfalls, rainbow colored streams and towering mountain peaks. A hikers paradise with so many hiking trails.

Waterton Lakes National Park
We had wild fire smoke during our visit, hence the haze, but the views were incredible.
Waterton National Park, established in 1895, is Canada's fourth national park and part of the world's first International Peace Park with Glacier National Park. Together, they celebrate peace and cooperation between nations.
We had an unforgettable adventure crossing borders from Glacier National Park to Waterton Lakes National Park! The journey started with a smooth border crossing, and we drove in awe to the historic Prince of Wales Hotel.
The Prince of Wales Hotel, located in Waterton Lakes National Park, Canada, was built in 1927 by the Great Northern Railway. Its name honors the future King Edward VIII, who visited the region in 1927. The Hotel, perched on a hilltop, boasts a rich history. Its majestic architecture and breathtaking views of Upper Waterton Lake make it a true gem of the Rockies!
When you visit Waterton National Parkdon't miss these 5 amazing activities:
🍁 Hike the iconic Crypt Lake Trail.
🍁 Take a scenic boat cruise on Waterton Lake.
🍁 Explore the Red Rock Canyon.
🍁 Witness the stunning Cameron Falls.
🍁 Stargaze under the dark skies.

I did a day trip from St Mary, MT to Waterton Lakes National Park and it was well worth the day I spent . The park is not quite as majestic as Glacier National Park on the USA side of the border but it's still beautiful and if you are visiting Glacier National Park you should take the time to see the Canadian side. The town of Waterton makes for an excellent stop in the middle of the tour of the park with lots of shops, places to eat and hotels.

Best stops along Kimberley to Medicine Hat drive
The top stops along the way from Kimberley to Medicine Hat (with short detours) are Red Rock Canyon, Head-Smashed-In Buffalo Jump World Heritage Site, and Fernie Alpine Resort. Other popular stops include Nikka Yuko Japanese Garden, Frank Slide Interpretive Centre, and Fort Steele Heritage Town.
Beautiful lake, bathrooms are kept super clean. In the morning they smell like bleach, that's how clean they're kept. Nice sandy beach, clean, warm water. We love it there.

Swim swim swim, Boat, SUP, swim some more, Tan, and then swim again.
This spot has a huuuge sand bar perfect for the little nuggets to run in the water and play Frisbee, there are washrooms with change stalls and a whack load of picnic tables both sheltered and non with lots of trees for shade and grass to relax sand free but a glorious soft sandy beach with a few pebbles and drift wood.
A Glorious Vista and many many campsites for RV and tent alike at the campground right next to this day use area.
This may be one of the best spots like it along the #3 Highway.
Don't forget to hit up Nai'as Coffee and IceCream stand as well and Grab some hotsauce up in Moyie townsite at Blazing Bill's Hotsaucery.

Good spot to do some picnic and enjoy with your family. It was cool to see the fish under the water.
At the day that we visit, there is a wildfire in the area and the air quality is so bad.
But even so our family enjoy the view and picnic in the area.

Moyie Lake was paradise in the mountains. This fresh water lake is easily accessible by car and has multiple parking areas.
The shore is sand with virtually no vegetation, and gradually gets deeper after 50 feet. There are smaller tide pools that are perfect for young kids and babies. The shore is also very kid friendly since it’s only a few inches deep to start and gradually declines.
The views are stunning and the train that passes by is icing on the cake. Truly a special place 🏔

This park is easy to find on Hwy 95 just north of Moyie BC and south of Cranbrook, BC. The park has a large adventure style playground and a bike park located in the middle of the campground beside the large shower/toilet building. Paved roads and paved trails give this park good accessibility access. The beach near the campground has parking and a gravel/rocky shore line. Paved boat launch with pier and parking for trucks and boat trailers. The beach is not located at the campground. There is a public promenade to the each that crosses in from of private land that we did not find inviting and there is a road to the beach that does not allow RV’s so we did not see or use the beach when we visited. Showers, drinking water, trails, and sani-dump are all provided but no services at camp sites. There are multiple shower buildings making this a good destination park for your vacation if you don’t mind the location of the beach and rocky shoreline.
Michelle Nicholson — Google review
Super clean. Perfect for young families as beach is shallow for about 200ft before water is higher than 2 feet. We anchor the boat just outside swim area and grab a picnic table in grass area. Washrooms are right at beach, so easy to use as day area or camp destination.
Duncan Miller — Google review
This is a very nice campground that has very nice spots, is very clean, and quiet. The vast majority of the spots have a significant amount of space between yourself and your neighbour, and are large enough to handle most RV's (We have a 32 foot bumper pull trailer and I have no issues parking). There are also several spots that have two spaces close together if you are camping with friends and family. Our boys enjoyed the beach and playground facilities as well.

This place is just beautiful, with 3 other lakes close by, a beautiful river, and waterfalls close. I love this location
The Cranbrook History Centre is a must-visit destination for those interested in Canadian Pacific railway history and local heritage. The museum houses exhibits and archives that showcase the region's rich history, along with a gift shop. The highlight of the museum is the Canadian Museum of Rail Travel, featuring several iconic trains from Canada's past, including the Trans-Canada Limited from 1929.
We had my mother's Celebration of life in the Royal Alexandra Hall. The staff were extremely caring and accommodating of our family and friends. Valerie is the event coordinator who knows EXACTLY what you're looking for even if you didn't know you were looking. Travis was our onsite contact who went above and beyond making sure the room was set up and ready. They had absolutely everything we needed. It's very reasonably priced compared to other halls in Cranbrook that can accommodate 200+ guests. Being able to bring in our own catering was the perfect way to ensure we could shop locally and support other businesses in the area at an affordable price. It's a beautiful venue with a very interesting history. I urge everyone to at least go and take a look at their railway museum. You can truly tell that everyone who works there is not only helping preserve our history but also helping make yours too.

If you or your kids love trains or are interested in the history of trains in Canada this is the place for you! The staff was so friendly and welcoming. We did all three train tours and I can't say enough good things about them. The restored train cars were so interesting but the best part is the tour guides! The guide was so informative and could answer all the questions my 7 yr old son who loves trains could think of. I really enjoyed the history as well as learning about the process of restoration. The gift shop could be better but it was still pretty good. They have a huge model train set that my son loved, I think we spent at least 30-40 minutes there. The museum is in a very interesting building with some nice displays. We had a fantastic time and I recommend all the tours!
Melissa Jensen — Google review
Amazing! We learned so much in only 45 minutes. There are a few different tours to choose from, ranging from 20min to 1h45m, so make sure you have time for a tour, because it is definitely worth it, and it is the only way to see the trains.

We went to Cranbrook as it was on the pre arrnaged tour of Canada we had booked. We had hoped t visit backwater Canada and this is the place to do this. It was great to find the railway museum thought. It's a historical museum dedicated to preserving the railway heritage of the region. The museum features various exhibits, artifacts, and equipment related to the history of railways in the area, including locomotives, passenger cars, and railway memorabilia.
Cranbrook Railway Museum provides visitors with insights into the significant role that railways played in the development and growth of Cranbrook and the surrounding areas. It offers educational programs and events for visitors of all ages to learn about the rich history of rail transportation in British Columbia.
If you're interested in railway history or visiting museums, the Cranbrook Railway Museum can be a fascinating destination to explore. It offers a glimpse into the past and showcases the technological advancements and cultural impact of railways on the region.

Six adults and four children (under 8) took the short 20 minute train tour. Our guide was very interesting and knowledgeable, he was able to keep the kids interest even though the tour was designed for adults. The trains are in the process of being restored but you can still see the designs and imagine what it was like to ride trains 100 years ago.
The museum itself was small but fascinating. The little ones loved the model train, spending 20 minutes starting and watching the trains circle. I liked the quilt with its escaped elephant story, as well as the medical cabinet with its old equipment.

We appreciate the kindness of a stranger who welcomed us to Canada. The museum shows community pride which is a great recipe for success!

Lots of really interesting history. Working model trains kept the attention of a pair of 3 year olds. Loved some of the detail on the trains of stained glass and inlaid wood. Excellent tour guide.

The kids and I loved our visit! As a Winnipegger, the main attraction for me was the Royal Alexandra Hall. We all enjoyed the "Toddler Tour"(even in the rain) and the kids loved the model railway room. Great staff and tour guides.

Really cool museum about the local history of the area and trains in Canada. I do recommend calling ahead to check when tours of the facility are available. We were able to tour the train yard, but missed some of the other elements. Generally, a cool experience and definitely worth the stop.

Really enjoyed the train tours! Amazing restoration of the trains. Travis is a great guide, he is extremely informative! The cost of tickets are reasonable and the money it's going to a good cause preserving a piece of history for others to enjoy.

Great place that has come such a long way in the thirty+ years I've watched it grow. It's a gem that shines the history not only of the railway itself but the whole reason Crambrook exists as a city (and it rich history) as opposed to why the population explosion did not happen at Fort Steele.
Numerous displays both older and newer are here. The major attraction is not only the ball room but the train cars themselves. Guided tours can take you through the train cars for a more intimate experience. Easily spending 3 hours here if you want to delve into the historic information.

I went there for dinner, I figured I would have 1 drink. There's no server on the floor asking if you'd like a drink so unfortunately you have to go get it at the bar. The supervisor did not even acknowledge me for 7 minutes, and she took an order before me which wasnt a problem. She then went to get the man a beer somewhere out of the bar area... after a few minutes she returned and proceeded to put ALL the beer she brought back into the cooler instead of serving the customer his beer and possibly me and then putting them away afterwards. She had told me she would get to me and never did. I then had another pleasant server ask me if I had been taken care of, I think her name was Jasmine. This girl was running around everywhere trying to help a whole lot of customers. I don't know why but I heard the supervisor Linda (i asked her name) yelling at the server. How unprofessional! It made for a very uncomfortable experience. I think they should get a supervisor in there who knows what she's doing. It's obviously too much for Linda. I felt do bad for the young lady Jasmine.

I went there for the first time, (it was my first time gambling) and they were so nice, they talked to me about the cell phone policies (no phones allowed) instead of kicking me out, haha. But the casino was nice! The slot machines were a terrible design though.

They got rid of all the older games. No one ever seems to be yelling jackpot!

I read some of the other reviews and wanted to add my two cents. First off I want to say if you are looking for the MGM Grand or Caesars Palace you won't find it here. I suggest you recalibrate your GPS and turn around. On the other hand, if you are looking for a quaint little casino with a friendly professional staff, charm, and ambiance, then you are at the right place. I highly recommend this place to those who want a change of pace from the big business casinos. Try it,you won't be disappointed!

Zero stars. The security guys at this place are real hero’s. My wife went to the security desk to pick up a package. No sooner had she opened the door and stepped inside with our little girl when two grown men ran towards her yelling and screaming for her to get out as there are no children allowed inside. Very unprofessional and drastically over reactive to the situation. You have a foyer for a reason, it’s a checkpoint before entering the Casino area. If that’s how you react to people entering then move your desk outside.

Went to the casino for some dinner at Mum's and had a great time. The place is obviously full of people but all seem to know was beautiful dinner was coming to them. Our server Aleitha (sorry if spelled wrong) was lovely and made plenty of visiting recommendations. I recommend the calamari appetizer and the maple glazed chicken. Bon appétit!!!
Came back the next day and the striploin and wings. I had a great meal again. Great place to indulge. Big shout-out to the chef Aaron Day

The service and the staff were wonderful. We will be back. The food at the restaurant was good, but it could be improved.
Loved this place! It was a 4 hour drive from Calgary but it was well worth the trip. It's a completely restored heritage town and you can even go in the buildings as they have furnished them accurately as well. There's also a furnished hotel in the park but we didn't get the chance to see it as the park was closing for the day. We will go here again soon!

I have very vivid memories of going to Fort Steele as a child. I think we only were there once. But it was magical for a young boy full of ideas. Years later, I know live right in the area. It is still magical. I was just there today. The only visitor. My hope is that one day, I can be a volunteer.

Fort Steele is an amazing place to visit. I had my wedding here, and I cannot say enough great things about the staff (especially Leona, she is wonderful to work with and so accommodating). The whole experience was incredible, and everyone involved had such a good weekend. If I could rate higher than 5 stars, I would.

Beautiful little spot to stop with your little ones or anyone super keen on the old wild west. Amazing learning opportunity for people to learn a lot of history about kootneys, and it's gold mining days.
The folks are amazingly sweet, and even when it's not in full blown season(summer), there's still so much to see and enjoy.
There's horses, and a whole lot of other wildlife around to see as well while walking the paths. Their gift shop is quite cute and has many little trinkets and gifts to bring home. I cannot wait to come back and explore a bit more during the summer, and I hope you all continue making this piece of history officially outstanding and just overall enthralling to enjoy and see.
If you really like museums and walking, this is literally a perfect place to be.
Samantha Dimery — Google review
It's a great place for all ages. Wear decent shoes to walk in as, if you visit the whole site, it'll take you around 2-3 hrs. There was only a little café at the entrance when we went but it looked like another larger cafe was going to open up later in the month (we went in early June). Loads to see and do. Only 4 stars because we felt that the guide book needs a map of the exhibits, which in turn need to be numbered so you know where and what you're looking at. Great taco's as well! Thanks to the staff for a lovely day.

This place lies on the east shore of the East Kootenay River Between the Mouth the St. Mary River and Wild Horse 🐎 River.
I had a lot of fun and insights about how things were from as far as 100 years ago.
Firstly, the horse ride in the wagon was awesome 😎, I saw in the the museum old clothes made my tailors and some tools ⚒️ 🧰 for technical and vocational use.
Secondly, The bakery which is also know as “City Bakery-Confectionery was built in 1922 it’s Proprietor called Mrs. Underhill I learnt was still in operation, and she bakes one of the best pastries 🥮,I had a bite when I bought a blueberry 🫐 muffin and a cookie 🍪 at the cafeteria.it was really good,if you want to learn how to bake I’m told she trains people who are interested in baking, for more enquiries on that call the number on their website or ask from the building.
Furthermore, The Perry Creek Water wheel 🛞 was amazingly beautiful 🤩 to see, the wheel was very huge, right after that I walked past the gold mine, I saw the equipment used to wash the gold.
One of the things that fascinated me was the fact that they used to sell candies in the drug store 🏬,I couldn’t believe my eyes but there it was sitting right there in the bottles, I walked the hall downstairs where shows used to be held , right ahead of me I saw a little garden 🪴 with a poultry farm, fowls looked really healthy, there were spring onions 🧅 were really big , I immediately thought of making a salad just at the sight it.
Lastly I saw those old Churches ⛪️ one was an Anglican Church, it was really cute , I think the green and cream was a good combination.
I love how I got to know and see for myself how things were in operation from from centuries ago.
So beautiful! We went there for a day of fishing and I got to watch them stock the lake with 26,000 trout! They said they were putting in 50,000 this season. Beautiful place, clean, clear water, eagles swooping overhead, fish jumping, perfect place for a day away and out in nature!

Beautiful Lake. An okay campground. If you are camping in RV, make sure you fill your fresh water tank to you needs. Cause it's just the water well with a hand pump on-site.
Gravel road which lead to the park is a disaster. Wasn't able to move more than 5 km an hour as it was so bumpy due to the bulldozer tracks, which dried out and created a very bumpy road.

Awesome lake. Clean, clear beautiful water. Great for any kind of water sports! Hiking and camping right there too.

Lots of sites to camp and they have overflow as well. Few mins walk to the lake where you can launch your boat, kayak or canoe. Scenic view of the lake with mountains behind. Toilets are bigger and cleaner than most campgrounds. 2-3 hand-pumps available in the campground but they recommend to boil the water. Easy 3.5km hike to Quartz Lake/ Rockbluff Lake from the campground. You can see beautiful azure water surrounded by mountains from the top.The hosts were very nice and friendly people. The female operator was a bit iffy, made us feel like we didn’t belong there, from the minute we stepped in. Been here twice now, so we just did our thing.Good experience overall!

One of the nicest spots in the east Kootenays. Beautiful fishing lake. Great swimming and dock area. The lack of dog friendly beach area is not the best but the campsites are usually pristine. The creek that runs thru the site is great for keeping the kids cool and busy but can get quite mosquito ridden in the summer. The kids part is stellar.
Jason Scannell — Google review
A perfectly pleasant provincial park! There's a mixture of sites, with some suited to RVs and others more suitable for tents. The campsites on the north side, closer to the lake, are rather tightly packed and the area more forested, while the ones on the south side are less tight, but with less forest cover. There's a quaint creek flowing between several of the northern sites, with a trail leading to the lake. The Park's lakefront has a boat launch and dock beside the beach; there's also a short shore trail leading to a trout hatchery. The summer water is still very cool, but thoroughly swimable. The campground is also equipped with an excellent playground for kids. Nearby, there's a closet for BYO solar water shower bags. Campsites were $25/night and firewood was $10/bundle. In August-September 2019 there was a bear in the area, and skunks are known to inhabit the area. Lots of chipmunks, squirrels, and chickadees. There's a couple nearby trails to small lakes, the main branch (Turtle, Canuck, and Yankee Lakes) can be done as a loop in 2 to 3 hours.

The park entrance is 15km about 6 miles up in the hills above Hwy 95 in South Eastern BC near Skookumchuck, BC Canada. The road to the park started off as paved, two lane good quality road but about half way up it turned into broken pavement, gravel, and dirt. The campground is located on the hillside above the lake. There is a small parking area near the beach and picnic area but no room for motorhomes or RV’s. There is parking for truck and boat trailer at the boat launch and a nice long dock enclosing the swimming area on this beautiful lake. The boat launch is paved and in good repair. Stair cases to the beach making it not fully accessible or wheel chair accessible. Nice playground in campground and nice trails with bridges crossing a small creek. All sites are unserviced and mostly level. Some sites offer privacy and shade but others are very close together with no privacy or shade. Water pump with untreated water that is not safe for drinking unless boiled. No showers, no drinking water, no sani-dump. I do not advise an extended stay as it is a long drive to get water and empty tanks.
This place is excellent. Every time we have showed up the interpretive center has been closed but the trout pond out front has kept the kids engaged for the better part of an hour. Be sure to bring quarters for the fish feed vending machine.
There is a trout pond in the back stocked with Rainbows where an overly friendly man will mansplain how to cast a spinning rod. It's for kids but if it isn't busy you can practice casting a fly rod with the chance of actually getting bites.

Building was closed even though hours on the door stated it would be open staff told us we read the wrong website even though i read the BC site. Staff was not kind if it is a self guided tour why can't the build be opened if staff are present. Drove an hour from sparwood to see this and was very disappointed that the web site hours does not align with actual hours.

A great little museum and facility, though the big draw is clearly feeding the trout in the moat. Remember to bring quarters for the food dispenser!

Awesome free experience. The info center alone is cool but we also were there when they had free fishing on the little lake. Poles, bait, nets, the works was available for free for my kids to use on the lake. Very nice lady working the equipment booth as well.

This place is awesome!! Bring quarters to feed the fish. There was a free trout pond with rods and tackle provided. Perfect spot for kids

Super cool place to visit. Really informative and surprisingly fun. It's by donation and has more stuff to do in the summer than in the winter, but it was still really cool. If you can spare 30 minutes, it's definitely worth the drive.

This is a very lovely spot. It is a very welcoming building very relaxing. We enjoyed it with our one year old daughter. She likes to fish. You can feed the fish which is very fun. But overall very relaxing atmosphere with lots of grass outside playing and sit and hang out, would go again.

My son had a blast fishing in the community pond. There were several families, deer and osprey readily seen.

A great place to learn about how BC fish hatcheries work. Beautiful setting, building inside is immaculate. There is a donation box, if you want. Bring some quarters so you can buy fish food and feed the fish, great for kids.
What a beautiful place to stop and enjoy the lake, trees and turtles. Rent a paddle boat or kayak and enjoy the lake.
There's also a playground for the littles to enjoy.

Family oriented campground with access to lake and beach. Lots of mature trees for shade but few shrubs, so privacy is somewhat lacking. Well maintained roadways and pads in variety of sizes, suitable for small vehicles and tents as well as larger trailers. Despite the bustle of activity during the day (including kids racing around on bikes and parents pushing baby strollers) it quiets down nicely at night for a peaceful sleep. A certain amount of sites are reservable with a some first come first serve available. Wheelchair accessible pit toilets, but no sink. Running water available from pipes near garbage and recycling bins. Overall a good place if you're looking for more of a family/friend outdoor experience, but don't expect anything close to remote wilderness. Dogs are fine at campground (on leash) but are not allowed on beach.

Been coming here since 84 with my family and i still come. Brings many great memories. The only downfalls is its become very hard for locals to get a spot here. It would be nice to see them do a first come basis on half the campground. The new notification if a campsite becomes available is a great tool for now.
Not sure if they still do sandcastle competitions or if they have anything at the amphitheater but that was always a favorite as a kid in the 80s.

More than just the lakes! Perhaps most people visit this park either to lounge on the beach and in the water of Surveyors Lake or to boat in Koocanusa Lake but it's much more than that. The park has three general use campgrounds, one group site and a day use area, all connected by a series of trails suitable for walking and cycling. The trails lead through grassland and open forest (see the signs about the forest and grassland restoration program) all rich in plants, flowers, birds (including eagles) and other wildlife. The geology is fascinating with moraines, kettle holes and river bed deposits and there is cultural evidence of past railways (see if you can find the lingering marks of the railway ties in places under the current trail bed). All this in a warm, dry climate.

This park is located in south eastern BC, Canada several miles off Hwy 93. The roads to the park are two lane paved roads and the turns to the park are well marked making it a nice easy drive and easy to find. The park is in hot, dry country in summer and while there are trees there is little or no shade at the Ponderosa Campground we camped in. We were glad we booked an electric site as we needed the air conditioner here. Unserviced sites have lake view, are larger, and have good space between. Electric sites are small with no space between. The lake is very pretty but the lake shore at Ponderosa campground is tall grass and a muddy shore. Good for dogs, tubes, and boating but not great for swimming. Big park with multiple campgrounds, sani-dump, cabins, group areas, and fishing. There was no privacy at the Ponderosa campground and the electric sites are very close together. Hot water showers and flush toilets available and easily accessible in this small campground. The playground and boat launch are not close to this campground. Good paved roads and level sites.

This is a beautiful provincial park. We were lucky to get a tent space. Unfortunately you have to put your tent on the gravel, which hurts. The picnic tables are beautiful and the beach is not far. The washrooms are super clean and fancy. There are limited showers for the surrey campground. Plan accordingly!

Stayed at the Kalispell Trail campground which is in Kikomun Provincial park. No reservation is necessary and your right beside Lake Kooconusa. It has outhouses but showers are free at the nearby South Pool group site that you can walk to or the Poderosa group site which is a short drive down the road. There is a boat launch at this campground and power boats are permitted on the lake. For the angler there is plenty of Kokanee salmon to catch. The lake is very large and goes all the way into the United States. There are lots of trails to ride your bike or hike. For a great treat visit the nearby Baynes Lake general store for an icecream cone. The scoops are large and a single scoop waffle cone is only $3.

Beautiful , clean and friendly staff . We have been camping here for the last 3 years and have had a great experience each time , if you decide to come to this site please be respectful of the land and other campers and everyone will have a great time
Established in 1959, this 259-hectare wooded park offers camping, hiking, fishing & cycling.
I recently visited a beautiful BC provincial park for a hiking trip. The lush greenery surrounding me was a sight to behold and it instantly made me feel more relaxed as I began my walk. The trail was peaceful, allowing me to take in the natural beauty of the surrounding area. The highlight of my hike was discovering a small river that was simply stunning. The refreshing water flowed gracefully through the rocks and trees, and I couldn't resist taking a moment to sit down and appreciate it all. Overall, it was a fantastic day filled with awe-inspiring views and a much-needed escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life.

Awesome location and great amenities. Mountain biking is literally on your doorstep. The only reason why I didn't give it a fifth star is that the campground, layout and numbering is really confusing and not in a really clear layout. I would stay again here in a minute.

Such a beautiful spot to camp. We had a spot right by the creek. You could hear it the whole time in your site. At night the stars were out in full force. It was so beautiful. There are hiking trails right from the campsite and the campsite is only minutes from town. It's so peaceful and quiet. A great way to get away from it all.

This park is very close to the main road and easy to find. The road to the park include 1.2 km of gravel road but it is well maintained. Available campsites are listed on the park bulletin board and there are signs on each site clearly indicating which sites are available on FCFS basis. The sites offer no services but are large, fairly level and fairly private. There is a large, new, clean, central shower house with flush toilets plus pit toilets around the park. The showers are free and have hot water. The campground is on a hillside and the roads have old, pitted pavement. The interpretive trail along a creek was well maintained with good signs that are informative and looked like new. This park has hiking and mountain bike trails with maps at the trail heads that include difficulty level.

The very definition of gorgeous. Beautiful park with tons of trails and just amazing little mountain streams and downtown Fernie isn’t far from here and a must see as well

Excellent provincial park. Good showers here that were very clean when we visited. There are numerous potable water taps throughout the park and a dish sink at the showers and bathrooms. The outhouses have been recently redone, so recent when we visited that they still smelled strongly of fresh ceder wood. The campsites are spread out reasonable far and well wooded. We stayed during the pandemic when only BC residents were supposed to be allowed, though 90% of the campers were from Alberta, but the park was so spacious there wasn't any worry about being too close to any other parties.

The Fernie Alpine Resort is a year-round mountain retreat that offers skiing, biking, dining, and more. It is a popular resort in the Rockies with excellent snow and top-notch facilities suitable for skiers of all abilities. The ski terrain at Fernie is perfect for adventurous skiers with steep slopes, deep snow, and lightly wooded hillsides while also providing easy runs perfect for beginners.
Had a great day on the slopes. No sun, some wind but great snow covered runs! This resort is very conscientious regarding covid as everyone is wearing masks while getting on the lifts. Can't wait to go again.

Amazing resort!
Stunning views at every turn, terrain for every skier and boarder of any skill. Lift lines never get crazy, large varied runs allow for great dispersion even on a busy weekend. Plenty of great food and drink options on mountain and in the village. Signage is great and easy to find everything here. Would highly recommend a visit here and will definitely be back when in the area.

Amazing diversity of ski terrain over five bowls. You can ski here all day and not ski the same piste twice. The people who come here to ski are cool and down-to-earth— not like many of the pretentiously pompous skiers you see at many "Epic" resorts. Fernie might very well be my new favourite ski place to ski!!
Adam Rogers — Google review
My family and I went skiing and snowboarding here in the middle of January....the whole family had lots of fun. Lots of powder higher up in the bowls...lots of great runs to choose from. Lots of black and double black runs.

Awesome place for a ski holiday, plenty of runs .good parking, and restaurants. There is plenty of accommodation close to the pistes if you wish to stay close to the action or in the town of Fernie. Otherwise it's a long drive to other towns to stay over. You can also drive to resorts in the US such as White Fish.
Keith Baker — Google review
This is a lovely mountain - as you can see, there is a 360 mountain range around the ski hill and you really feel like you're on top of the world. At the top, you can see the condensation accumulating just above the mountain peaks, as well as bright areas illuminated by breaks in the clouds, truly a breathtaking experience.
But just a few heads up for the snowboarders, if you decide to go up the Bear chair (which you can only access via Elk), be sure that you're comfortable with narrow paths and precipitous edges - don't let the fact that it's considered a green run throw you off!! It took me a long time to go down this path and I would have had a better day had I left Bear for the end of the day or after I've gotten more runs in. The height alone is very intimidating for a certain people, even the skiers that I went with.
It's not surprising that the majority of the people I saw here were skiers, there are many narrow flat spots that skiers would have no problem with but that snowboarders would either have to have enough momentum to keep going or would have to walk.
Snowboarding newcomers should stick to deer or elk chair to get the most out of their stay.
FUN FACT: the wooden cabin pictured below (that you can see on the right hand side as you're going up the Elk chair) is the location for Hot tub Time machine 1 & 2!

I grew up in Fernie and watched this family owned ski business grow into a world class resort.
Regardless of your ability, you will have many parts of the mountain to explore. The hill has been built over three natural mountain bowls which provides stunning views from the top.
The runs that have been carved into the sides of these bowls provide steep and aggressive terrain for expert level skiers and boarders who want to shred the hill.
The centers of the bowls provide gentle slopes for those who come for a relaxing day enjoying moderate terrain with lots of tree runs.
Fernie is famous for its powder. Due to its location, the snow is dry and light and after a good dump will give you a powder day that you will never forget.
The resort is located low in the mountain so the lower runs are subject to warmer weather. It’s not uncommon to have melting snow and ice at the bottom with great conditions at the top.
There are hundreds of rental opportunities right on the hill including many ski-out lodges. There are re also large home that sleep multiple families available for rent.
The town of Fernie does not have many restaurants or places to enjoy night life for a resort of this size. This is the biggest negative to choosing this location over other options like Whitefish.
Douglas Greff — Google review
Fernie has something for everyone - from beginner-friendly vibes all the way to shred dawg steeps - the whole family will love it here. The prices are super reasonable considering the accessible terrain and if you can’t find a skiff of powder where you’re shredding, there’s always a few turns to be had with a little boot pack hike.

First time snowboarding at Fernie.
Our group of 7 had a great experience.
Beautiful place😍
The only thing didn't like, is that if you want to ride in the terrain park, you had to pay extra $5 or so for it, on top of your lift tickets . I think that was pretty outrageous.
Anastasiya 96 — Google review
Amazing ski-area with a huge choice of slopes and runs. We really loved to ski the 5 different bowls and had the impression, that a day is by far not enough to explore all possibilities.
Frank Waechter — Google review
Misleading conditions report!
Skied there last week (1/31/24 and 2/1/24). Online they said 134 runs were open. In reality the vast majority of trails were closed either due to lack of snow (there was a big rain event and warm cycle) or avalanche risk. Id guess that 50-75% of the runs were not open. Many major bowls were pretty much completely closed due to avy risk.
I wouldn't ding them for the conditions, you get unlucky with the weather, but they should try to accurately reflect the experience guests are likely to find on your website and conditions report. I was skiing on a pass, but if I'd purchased a day lift ticket I would have probably asked for my money back given the misleading conditions report.
Giving 2 stars as this seems like it'd be a good mountain if the snow was significantly better and they do a better job at reflecting current conditions.

A beautiful resort with all kind of slopes from
Green to double black. Artificial snow could be more because we didn’t had much snow yet this season and down below the slopes were sometimes marginal.
Horst Daniels — Google review
Fernie is known for huge snow accumulation. Visited in February 2024, the snow was not great anywhere really that winter however we did get 2 x 20cm dumps while there.
It's a very challenging mountain made up of 5 bowls and I would say if you have skiid other Rocky Mountain Resorts and you normally ski black runs, you will find yourself on blue runs st Fernie..and loving it.
If you enjoy steeps, this place has it, including the Polar Peak bowl which is made up entirely of double and triple blacks.
It's a good 3 hrs from Calgary Airport so a bit more remote.
The apres ski on the resort is not really hoping like some other areas we found but this mountain will have you tucked in bed early anyway lol.

Just did the walking tour about Fernie and the First World War and the internment of ‘enemy aliens’. The interpretative guide was excellent and full of local history. Learned lots and would love to do the other two tours about the fire and bootlegging.
The museum itself is small but it has a wealth of information and the exhibits are well thought out and put together. Loved learning about the history of the area and lifting the high tech air pick. Can’t imagine beating a guy in an arm wrestling contest that lifts one of those things eight hours a day.
Excellent place and I highly recommend the walking tour as well.
Castle Mountain Resort, located in the southwestern part of Alberta, is a hidden treasure for winter sports enthusiasts. This smaller-sized resort offers challenging powder runs alongside cross-country skiing trails. Owned by 200 shareholders, the focus here is on having fun while skiing, despite the older equipment. Castle Mountain Ski Resort boasts an authentic character and laid back atmosphere that truly captures the essence of winter sports in the Canadian Rockies.
Really enjoyed taking the kids here. They terrain park to a beginner area and even have a chair lift for beginners as well. Even a carpet ride for a bunny hill if your very new or have small kiddos just learning. Can't wait to go back next season. Affordable, friendly. Food is great. Nothing is over priced. Very fair for sure. Super easy to find your way to the hill, and also easy to get around on the runs.

Love the variety but not great for beginners. Even the greens on the “Huckleberry” lift are pretty steep. My 13yo (who has skied) was stuck with the green lift / bunny hill since the other greens are noticeably tougher. The bunny hill is a little too narrow (compared with Alta, Brighton, Snowbird) with the encroaching housing development.
My older teen liked Huckleberry and heading all the way to the top of the mountain even though it was stormy.

Definitely a very underrated. Marie is a highlight such a loving person free hugs. Skiing is awesome here. It doesn't get 5 stars from me because the lifts are very old and slow and need replacing. Not only that they don't have singles lines which is frustrating if you ski single.

I was a little disappointed with this property. The “hotel” room felt more like a private hostel room. While the room was mostly clean and in decent repair, the bed was extremely I comfortable and the previous guest’s trash was still in the room.
The main function hall was nice, but has no air conditioning. This made the event extremely stifling even though it was relatively cool outside. If they are going to rent out their facility for summer functions, they need to remedy this.
The best thing was the food. The function I attended had appetizers, a buffet dinner and late night snack and all were delicious!
Service was adequate in the pub, but excellent in the function space.

The Frank Slide Interpretive Centre is a museum that showcases the history of the Crowsnest Valley and the tragic event that occurred in 1903, when a deadly landslide took place. The exhibits bring to life the early days of mining and railroad development in the area. Interactive activities are available for children to enjoy. The highlight of the museum is a film dramatizing the disaster. Additionally, hiking trails from the museum take visitors over the slide site where they can experience this unique heritage first-hand.
Interesting interpretive centre, but the highlight for me was the hike through the slide. Be sure to grab a brochure or it’s just a bunch of rocks. We still had fun coming up with our own interpretations :-) A unique experience!

This is a spiritual place, where parts of a mining town and its inhabitants lie buried under a huge pile of rubble from Turtle Mountain. The Indigenous people of the area called it the moving mountain. They knew about its temperament. My only disappointment is that I visited on a Monday and the interpretive centre was not open.

Stunning displays and views! This centre is laid out in such a way that you always feel like you are looking outside.
They have a beautiful path you can hike on outside, just be aware that it starts out fairly accessible (wide, well maintained but with a gravel surface) and transitions to uneven gravel steps and steeper slopes, until it finished with a “trail” hike back up (narrow dirt foot path with roots along a steep slope). You could always turn back and go to the wider path. This isn’t a knock against the path - I personally thought it was beautiful and nice to see all the different types represented in one adventure, however if you have mobility challenges it concerns be aware ;)

A must-see. The tour guides are knowledgeable about the area and are welcoming with their information about the Frank Slide and the Hillcrest Explosion. There are many viewpoints to view Turtle Mountain and facts are located at each one. Would like to come back in the springtime to explore the path they have below the mountain.

Visiting the site of natural disasters and observing the impact on the landslides , with big rocks and a sense of history, can be a somber experience. The information center is a valuable resource, providing useful insights, and the availability of videos about the slides enhances the understanding of the area. While there is an entry fee, the numerous parking spots make it convenient for visitors to access the location.

The Frank Slide Interpretive Centre is a great museum to stop at when passing through the Crowsnest Pass area.
The museum itself is very well done and really focuses on the impacts of the slide to the town and the individual people affected by it. It is cool that you can pick up receivers to hear audio clips describing their experiences. The displays are also incredibly informative and well put together. A great place to learn.
There are also a lot of great views to be had outside and from on top of the centre. The only downside is that the staff were very pushy about wanting you to go to the films being shown in the theatre. Maybe this was just my experience, but I wasn’t pleased with the insistence of one staff member.

Explore the rich history of coal mining in Western Canada by taking a tour of the Bellevue Underground Mine, the region's only authentic underground coal mine. Descend 1,000 feet into the mine and experience being 150 feet below the surface as you learn about its inner workings and historical significance. Don a miner's hat and light to immerse yourself in the atmosphere of this unique experience.
This is a great tour, takes about an hour and the tour leader will explain to you many aspects of underground coal mining. Very informative and a great experience for young and old. I've been there twice with my 4 1/2 year old grandson and he really enjoys putting on the miners helmet and lamp and going into the mine.

This tour is very cold! The temperature when we went through was 0° Celsius!! Do not bring good shoes as they will get scuffed with coal dust. There is a lot of standing around and not much walking. The tour lasts about an hour and there is no leaving the party once you're inside. Bring winter gear including a winter coat, toque and mittens.

Wow! Such an amazing experience. You can expect to spend an hour in the mine. It is cold down there, so bring a jacket! The tour guides are super knowledgeable. Ours was the perfect mix of informational and entertaining. Check out the signage inside the check-in station, it's very informational and gives you a good introduction to what you're about to experience.

A must see tourist attraction in the Crowsnest Pass! The guides are friendly and engaging with the tour groups. It is a step into the past seeing how mine sites operated right down to learning about the horses used for mining. Please make sure you dress warm-my family did not dress warm and they were freezing! I would even bring gloves.

A really neat place to take kids. Great history lesson from the tour guide. Very knowledgeable staff. A great look into the history of what Crowsnest Pass used to be like. Tour guide was very helpful with my little 2 year old guy and very accommodating. He had a blast. Just a reminder to dress warmer, underground is a bit cold.

What a great experience! Out guide Cole was amazing and very knowledgeable. The mine itself is so interesting to explore. It's very cold inside so pay attention to instructions and dress for 0°C! Cute little gift shop too, we got stickets and a poster! Thanks again for a great experience.

Very cool to see how the coal was mined and to be able to see the inside of the mine. It's a decent size, but very cold! Dress warm! I would come back someday if they ever decided to expand it

This was the best experience!! Our guide, Diane, was the absolute best!! Very informative, so nice and made the tour soo much fun. Definitely go if you get the chance. The tour was very personal and there was lots of opportunities for questions, so make sure you come with lots 😊
Make sure to dress warm though!! Especially if you run cold, they tell you to, and I wore a sweater but it wasn't nearly enough, even though it was +31 out!

Excellent guide doing the tour, very knowledgeable. Nice gift shop, lots of parking. Many artifacts from other mines as well to further the look into the history of coal mining.
Highly recommend this museum and experience.

We had a great tour and loved every minute of it. So glad we stopped! It's wonderful to see such a big part of history.

The tour guides are knowledgeable locals with ties to the mine. Lots of interesting sites and exhibits. Temperature inside is 1 C and at one point they turn all lights off to demonstrate the darkness, so be prepared for those.

Must stop here! Very cool (literally) to go back in time and see how things were done! We had an amazing tour guide thanks Diane!

I came to The Bellevue Mine with a couple of coworkers. We work at the Atlas Coal Mine near Drumheller. As heritage interpreters, we thought we knew all there was to know about coal mining. Boy were we wrong. We learned so much on this tour and how different coal mining was in the Crowsnest Pass compared to the Drumheller Valley. Our tour guide, Cole, was so knowledgeable. He was a confident, fascinating guide and gave us so much useful information that will take back to our jobs. He was patient with the little kids, but also with us and our many questions. We had a blast and I will definitely tell everyone to do this tour. It’s fun, exciting and great for people of all ages. Thanks to Cole and the friendly staff at the Bellevue Mine.

For the who like history or if you have child above 12 years. This place like to visit few people who like coal mines and history.
I also recommend that wear jackets to much cold inside.
Beauvais Lake Provincial Park is a great park to camp.
They have RV sites, Tent sites and Group use sites. They also have some 1st come 1st served walk-in sites available. Check-in to the site is easy. There is a self check box as you enter the camp site. Though there are a of of trees in the campsite site, the sites themselves are close to each other. Some sites are shared sites (e.g. site 8 and 10).
They have basic facilities available. Pit Toilets and Drinking Water are available throughout out the camp site. Sites with power have 15 amp and 30 amp power connections. Each site also has a picnic table and a fire pit (check fire bans before use). There is a dump station close to the camp entrance.
There are 2 day use areas on each site of the lake. Beaver Creek Day Use and North Shore Day Use areas.
There are a lot of trails to hike. Amongst others, there is a trail that goes around the lake. The lake is a short walk away from the campsite. Access to the water is from a dock at the boat launch. The dock also has a kayak launch.

Great provincial campground. Very clean bathrooms and lake is great for kayaking. No beach but does have a water side picnic area. Dumping station has a fee. Free dumping at the co-op on pincher Creek. Bear trap on site added some excitement to the trip.

It is a nice place for camping and picnics. Walked around to enjoy a scenic view of Lake, it is fun to see a muskrat chewing stripped bark in the water. A little bit quiet of the lake in winter, but you will enjoy nature sounds, watch for birds, waterfowl, and wildlife. There are trails for hiking, mountain biking, snowshoeing, and skiing as well.

Great place for camping with family. There are many drinking water outlets in the campground where you can fill your trailer. Lake is at walkable distance.

Great little campground in south western Alberta, just learning to fish so a safe little late to learn kayak and water safety, big sites, nice playground for the younglings, July long weekend and the water was 69f fatty warm for Alberta lake.
The campground manager has a great attitude and pleasant, beautiful Weiland reserve in the north end of the lake, the sounds of loons cals full the valley, many species of geese and ducks. Huge eagles (of the biggest Hawks if seen), and Hawks. Alberta nature at its best. 👍👍👍

An amazing little lake. What a gem. Even with the water maintenance issue, we still had a great time there. Very quiet, very secluded sites.

Beauvais Lake quickly became one of my favourite Provincial Parks.
With all the lush flora and fauna there are so many things to see and explore. You'll find accessible friendly trails along the lake and around the campground. If you are up for a challenge there are 3 great peaks to explore; Baldy, Albert and Piney, Piney point is my personal and great for a sunset!
The campground is fantastic! The sites are spacious with tons of trees around. There are walk-in tenting sites on the south end of the lake which is a nice quiet option to enjoy the park. The staff and campground host: Eleanor and Lenard are welcoming and friendly. I also highly recommend checking out the interpretive programs, they are always a hoot!

Beautiful park and campground! Just wish there wasn't so may of those darn sticky things dropping from the trees. Just that time of year I guess(mid May).
Great hiking trails!

A wonderful camping experience. We had never camped there, but we will definitely be back! The cross-country ski trials double as hiking trails in the summer. We hiked to the top of Mount Baldy for some gorgeous vies of the area.
The lake would be great for kayaking or small boats.
Just a note, bring your own potable water. There are pit toilets.
A jewel to discover!

Beautiful place with lovely treed campground with washrooms.
They have a place to launch your kayak off the dock which is great!
There are also life jackets available to borrow, should one forget theirs.
The lake is also stocked for fishing.
Good hiking trails too.

Beauvais Lake is a great place to use as your base camp to explore southern Alberta. It's so close to so many places, like Head-Smashed-In Buffalo Jump, Frank Slide, and Waterton. Campground amenities are good, but the outhouses weren't the cleanest. The lake is beautiful for paddling, but very weedy for swimming or fishing. Overall, a great place!

Beautiful lake, but leeches. Lots of fun to fish there. Nice campground with fun programs during the summer

This park is not far from the main roads and there is a good size town for supplies not too far away. We did miss the turn off to the campground when we entered the park but were able to easily turn around and go back. There is a very nice adventure playground with benches and picnic tables nearby located in the campground. Campsites are roomy and offer some privacy. There is a sign showing all the trails with distances but there are also bear and cougar warnings. There are FCFS sites as wall as reservation sites. There was no indication if the sites marked R for reservable were available or not. There was a park host with on duty when we camped here. There is an osprey nest on top of an old dead tree in the boat launch parking. We watched them fishing in the lake. The campground is not on the lake and there is not beach area. The park is on level ground and the sites are level.
Michelle Nicholson — Google review
Nice campground with plenty of first come first served & reservable sites. Looked like great fishing, the lake is beautiful and calm. Had a couple dips to cool down (was 36c in the shade) which was nice - beware there are leaches! Best spot to go in is straight across from the boat launch as the crow flies. Outhouses are basic and no showers. People were having fires and not being super quiet - which I appreciate. Plenty of places patrol the noise a little too hard.

Cameron Lake is a small yet captivating oasis nestled amidst majestic mountains. Its intimate size adds to the charm, offering a peaceful and serene atmosphere. The surrounding peaks create a stunning backdrop, making it a perfect spot for nature lovers and photographers alike.

Cameron Lake is one of our favorite places in Waterton. It is usually quite peaceful. It is often quiet. It can sometimes be busy, but usually only along the shore and in the parking lot. This is fine for us since we usually go paddleboarding and/or kayaking with our inflatable water craft. When you get out on the lake it is usually quite calm and peaceful and you're surrounded on all sides by mountain views. It is BEAUTIFUL!

A beautiful lake just 20 minutes from Waterton! Wide open lake encompassed by mountains, making for a stunning panoramic view. You can rent a wide variety of boats here to take into the waters, or use your own if you have one. The parking lot is quite big, with ample space in my experience. A nice getaway spot for a hot summer's day!

Breathe taking views! Clear clean water and excellent rentals for the lake.
We visited Cameron Lake on a suggestion from a friend who visited this lake earlier this year. So happy we went! We brought a picnic and our chairs and relaxed in the shade of a tall pine tree.
Our son rented a paddleboard for an hour for $30 and was well worth every penny. He and his girlfriend paddled all around the lake. Life vests came with the rental.
We would go again and explore.

Windabout longish drive up from Waterton Village but worth it. You know you're in the boonies with no cell phone service. The lake is clear pristine, and you can see the mountains across the border in Montana about 1.5 miles / 2.4 km from the visitor centre and docks. Boat, canoe, and paddleboard rentals are available. There is also scenic hiking, but we didn't have time to do that.

Beautiful place, easy hiking trails. Make sure to bring water, especially on a warm summer day. If you want to soak up your feet and walk up the stream, I would suggest you either have sandals or water-shoes, as I did not.
Definitely go earlier in the morning to avoid the crowds, as you might not have a parking spot in the afternoon.

So beautiful! The trail is super easy! Perfect for kids. They’ve added a lot since I was here last. You can really see the beauty of the waterfalls abs nature. Great walk/hike to do with the kids and lots of nature to see! Wild flowers are so stunning!

Beautiful place to hike, picnic and jog. The mountain stream is clear and helps you keep cool in the summer. Lots of wildflowers to see during June. The parking is right at the trail head so it's easy to get to.

Mesmerizing and engaging landscape with a short and effortless hike. Because of this, it is usually quite crowded, especially with families and kids enjoying the water. It might not be the best spot if you're looking for a quiet, personal experience. However, the ease of the trail and the sheer beauty of the views make it an absolute must-visit, even if you're sharing the experience with others.

I haven't been here in years and it's gotten way busier. Beautiful red rocks and an interesting little hike. Bring water shoes and possibly change of clothes as you will definitely get wet. Lots of people, very busy. The bridge on the far top path was closed, so no way to go around the canyon on the top.

Absolutely spectacular family hike! The falls themselves were nice, with all the safe railing and man made government approved stuff but go up past that.... the forest full of wildflowers, easy creek access and mountain views was amazing! returning home to the parking area and playing in the Red Rock Canyon River to cool our hot feet and enjoy the fresh water was brilliant!

The drive to get here was beautiful. Lots of parking and essential utilities. You can walk the paved path around the canyon, about 15 minutes. Hike down in the canyon along the stream. Then hike over to the falls, about 15 minutes from the lot. Got there about 9am and it was nice and quiet, but by 10:30 it was quite busy.

Red Rock is always worth it. The drive will likely land you a view of a bear or two. We found a young one but hind leg was clearly broken and limping. Poor thing! Hit by a car no doubt. The canyon is walkable. We only go down into the are under the bridge. Lots of peeps around competing for pics. The walk is usually a loop and you cross over bridge at the top after a very short walk but it's boarded up on both sides. No doubt it I not stable after the fire that ripped through this area a couple of years ago. High recommend for an easily accessible activity 👌

Wonderful and unique red rock canyon that is easily accessible by car. The best tip that I can give you is to go early to avoid the crowds. Even at 8AM on a Sunday (8/21/2022), you will likely have the entire canyon (and the nearby falls) to yourself, and enjoy it so much more. At the time of this review, there is construction at the canyon so you are unable to go deeper into the canyon or access the trails beside the canyon.

The jewel of Waterton, and one the most scenic trail heads. The trails there are all beautifully worthwhile, too. Take it slow and take all the colours in. Submerge all your senses in this eternal play of lights, sounds, smells, earth, wind, and water intertwining. Let your spirit soar at every so often glance at the pointy tip of Anderson Peak ever-present in the backdrop. Shake yourself loose of all daily sorrows and woes, even if only for a fleeting moment.
Don't forget to enjoy the road there. It is easily one of the most scenic drives in the world.
[I took all the pics in this post, except the road pic. It is my auntie's as I was driving.]

It’s so beautiful. There’s so many cute hikes with amazing views and the drive there is beautiful as well. Great parking and they have washrooms. There’s is paved walk ways and nice bridges. The red dirt and nature is obviously beautiful, the water flow is so crisp and clear and fun to splash in. I was there on a weekend and it was definitely overcrowded but still a great place to see.

Amazing Canyon with red rocks truly unique. There are long and short trails from the parking spot. Speaking of parking lots there are two upper is small and lower is big but a bit of walk so good luck finding one on upper lot on a busy day few washrooms. Views of mountain and canyon is just breath taking. I have reviewed other spots in Waterton like prince of whales hotel etc check out my reviews and list of to do things in Waterton Park. Such a beautiful area, we got here early on a very hot day and the place was quite busy when we left a couple hours later. Started out by walking around the top. Then walked into the canyon. Our feet didn't stay dry long. So I recommend a water shoe. Near the end are natural waterside that we had a lot of fun on.

We ventured out to Red Rock Canyon with high hopes of an epic outdoor adventure, and while the natural beauty did not disappoint, the facilities left a lot to be desired. Let's talk washrooms – or lack thereof. It was like stumbling upon the wild west of restroom situations. Unmanned and untamed, these washrooms were in dire need of some human intervention.
Picture this: a line of nature enthusiasts forming outside a restroom, hoping for some kind of magical appearance of cleaning supplies and a bit of freshening up. But alas, it seemed like a scene straight out of a deserted town. The washrooms were long overdue for some updating and cleaning love, like they were stuck in a time warp where toilet paper and soap were ancient relics.
Now, I get it, Red Rock Canyon is all about that free-spirited, wild vibe, but maybe a small surcharge could do wonders for maintaining these essential facilities. A mere $5 could be a lifeline for those washrooms, making them a bit more inviting and giving the whole place a touch more charm. With the influx of visitors, it's easy to see how the experience could be dampened by the lack of basic amenities.
In the end, the stunning views and rugged terrain made up for the less-than-ideal restroom situation, but a little investment in the facilities could go a long way in making this adventure even more appealing to all us nature enthusiasts.

Right upon arriving at Red Rock Canyon, I was pleasantly surprised to find wheelchair accessible bathrooms conveniently located near the entrance. While they were not flushable toilets, they were well-maintained outhouse-style bathrooms, providing a clean and accessible option for visitors. I was delighted to discover that the bathrooms were equipped with a diaper changing station, which is a thoughtful addition for families with young children.
During my visit, the park was undergoing some maintenance or construction work, but it did not significantly hinder the overall experience. In fact, there were several sections of the canyon that were wheel-chair and stroller friendly, allowing everyone to enjoy the natural beauty of the surroundings. It's important to note that due to the ongoing construction, not all the trails were perfectly straight, which may require some extra attention while navigating.
Red Rock Canyon is a true visual delight. The contrasting red and green hues create a stunning backdrop for any kind of photography, whether you're capturing family moments, couples, or the captivating nature itself. The canyon's vibrant colors make it a perfect spot for capturing memorable pictures.
As you explore the park, you'll come across a variety of hiking trails suitable for all levels of fitness. From shorter 1-kilometer routes to more challenging treks spanning 15 kilometers or more, there's something for everyone.
Overall, Red Rock Canyon is a must-visit destination for nature enthusiasts and photography enthusiasts alike. It’s a memorable experience for individuals, families, and friends seeking to connect with nature in a breathtaking setting. I highly recommend visiting Red Rock Canyon for an unforgettable outdoor adventure.
Quick note: still lots of burned trees from the wildfire back in 2017

A nice excursion just 20 minutes from Waterton! This wide canyon features distinct red rocks and a small stream of water running through it. There are typically large crowds, especially on a weekend during summer so try coming early to avoid them. There is a nice pathway along the outside of the canyon where you can walk around, and you can also walk down into the canyon which a lot of people do. Take off your shoes and you are free to splash around in the water! The parking lot is nicely sized, with a restroom on site as well. Check this out when you're visiting Waterton!

Cameron Falls is one of four notable waterfalls in Waterton Lakes National Park and can be easily accessed from the townsite. The falls offer a picturesque view from a large viewing platform that is enjoyed by visitors. It's possible for the waterfall to occasionally turn pink after heavy rainfall, making it an even more unique attraction to see. Despite being located within the town of Waterton, Cameron Falls remains a beautiful little falls that's worth visiting while exploring this scenic area.

It's a beautiful fall in the town with a short hiking trail on the side to have a closer look from top. You can do fishing as well but not a really large area to explore. Also, parking available right in front, for wheelchair accessibles as well. Located in Pincher Creek, the Kootenai Brown Pioneer Village offers a blend of outdoor exploration and historical immersion. The village is complemented by the self-guided Heritage Acres, featuring various historic buildings and antique farm equipment. Visitors can also enjoy natural beauty at the nearby Oldman Dam Provincial Recreation Area and Lundbreck Falls. The village showcases local history with interesting characters from the area, making it a miniature version of Calgary's Heritage Park but with its own unique charm.
Really cool place to visit. Lots of historical buildings and items to see. The cafe was closed which was a bit disappointing but understandable. The price to get in was very reasonable. A lot of things within the village were disorganized, but it gives you more to look at. It was not too busy and there are nice paths to walk on from building to building. Definitely recommend to anyone stopping by pincher creek who is interested in southern Alberta history.

What a wonderful surprise of a museum! We had seen it advertised on a roadside sign for Southern Alberta sites to see, and so, we had to see it.

I stumbled upon it on my last day in SW Alberta in October 2022 and spent over three hours exploring the many buildings- but I could have spent six hours if I had the time. Waterton Park, also known as Waterton, is a charming hamlet nestled in the picturesque southwestern Alberta, Canada. Situated at the end of Highway 5, it's about 54 kilometers west of Cardston and 55 kilometers south of Pincher Creek. This serene destination offers a delightful escape with its scenic beauty and tranquil surroundings. It's an ideal place for nature enthusiasts and those seeking a peaceful retreat amidst stunning landscapes.
The Crypt Lake Trail in Waterton Lakes National Park is a 10-mile hike that can be reached by ferry. The trail has an elevation gain of 2,297 feet and offers beautiful views. Visitors to the park can also enjoy a cruise on Upper Waterton Lake or drive along the Akamina Parkway or Red Rock Canyon Parkway. The park is open year-round, with some facilities closed during the winter months.

Beautiful hike, it's not technical, nor challenging. If you hike or exercise regularly you should find this hike a walk in the park. Great day, however not amazing enough to do again or spend the $30.00 for the ferry.

A must do when visiting Waterton. You will not regret doing this hike. Beautiful views, well maintained trails and lots of interesting sections of trail. Make sure you do have the fitness level for a 17+ KM hike.
Also depending on season pack for mountain weather. We've had +20 degrees along the beginning of the trail, with sections of deep snow near the top and cool weather. Bring lots of water.
Now there is one negative to this trail. The amount of people can be staggering. We've been stuck in literal "traffic jams" on the cliff scramble section. Where people are stuck going in either direction. This can be an absolute pain and hopefully the people will all be working together to keep things moving.
If hiking with a dog, be sure you are prepared for the ladder. We thought we were but found out we were not. Luckily, with the help of some awesome hikers we were able to raise and lower the dog safely.
As a final note.. BE CAREFUL on the wire rope section of the climb. We hit two burrs on the line and actually ripped our hands open to the point of running blood. After seeing it happen to a few people you realize it's an actual health hazard. If anyone has any transferable blood diseases, that is a dangerous location.

We did this hike with our dog. It is a beautiful, must-do hike. Some parts are very challenging - don't look down! For dog owners: I don't know if I would do this with a dog over 60 lbs because we did lift/boost her on a few parts. The ladder is the most difficult part, we had extra leads to help lower her down while letting her place her feet on the rocks. We also had a lead clipped to the cable for her Incase she fell, would highly recommend for peace of mind. Don't do this hike with your dog if you can't trust your dog.

If your family is adventurous...
This 6-7 hour (kids 9yr to 15) day trip will create a lifetime of memories.
Bring 3L water per adult & teen. 1-2L per kid
Bring h20 purification if you want to safely refill at the waterfalls or lake

Great hike, but be prepared for ~19km .!
Michael Columban — Google review
One of the 20 most exciting hikes according to Lonely Planet, this is the hike serious hikers should not miss out on when visiting Waterton Lakes National Park! Getting there requires taking a ferry boat from the village (return ticket $25, leaves early in the morning!). At the site there are little to no facilities, so start prepared with enough water, lunch, sunscreen, insect repellent and a bag to take your garbage out. The hike is about 17 km return journey and gains about 700 m. While walking hikers enjoy some nice waterfalls and beautiful overviews of the valley. We were a little concerned about the final part of the trail which contains narrow ledges and steep cliffs. All in all there was no reason to be worried: this part of the hike can be a little scary, but if you watch your step we found this part certainly doable, and we are not very experienced hikers. This part of the trail only comes at the very end, is rather short (less than 300m I think), the slope is less frightening in reality compared to pictures going around on the internet and the ledges are between 20 and 50 cm (and mostly 50 cm): at narrow parts there is a steel cord attached to the mountain to aid hikers along the way. If you are in reasonable shape this is an exciting and rewarding hike! Tip: take the first boat to make sure you have enough time to complete the hike in order to catch the boat back and to enjoy some extra cool shadow the first 200 m climb. Should there be any snow on the 'scary' part at the narrow ledges, I don't know if I would hike there, inform yourself before you leave.

Head-Smashed-In Buffalo Jump is a UNESCO World Heritage Site located approximately 70 kilometers west of Lethbridge, Alberta. The site is dedicated to preserving the Plains Buffalo culture that has lasted for over 6,000 years and features an interpretive center showcasing the Blackfoot Indigenous culture. This cultural landmark tells a story of resourcefulness and ingenuity as the Blackfoot people hunted buffalo by using cliffs near Fort Macleod.
Wonderful museum for a great history lesson. Exhibits are amazing and offers a great history lesson for everyone. Lots to see and the trails are nice for a little hike. Wildlife can usually be seen on your hike. A nice day trip for the family

Really interesting historical and cultural site with artifact, Films, educational displays and a walk to the jump. This year there was no cafe which was unfortunate. The gift shop could be much better in terms of variety of items available too. Guided tours would be a good option if someone wanted to pay extra for that. As a local, I would suggest adding new attractions each year like concerts, guest speakers, interactive theatre, touring cultural displays like museums do. It is a must-see for travelers passing through and locals if you haven’t visited it. The stories and layout are very good. You can also save $ using your CF1 card.

Through landscapes, exhibits, and diverse programming, you will learn about the cultural significance of this cliff to the Plains People. There is an area where you can walk through the plains, it’s stunning ( 1.2 kilometre hiking trail beneath the cliff ) While you walk through you will notice different flowers, sage and berries. The exhibits inside are very educational. I would allow at least two hours to fully capture the full experience.

A sacred part of Canada's past is preserved right here in Alberta and is something all Canadians need to experience. Do I take time now to describe every aspect of what a visit is like or urge every single person out there to make the trip to see and experience this extraordinary place. Staff are friendly and helpful. Facility is incredibly clean and very well organized. Absolutely tons of berries along the interpretive trail. TIPS: sunblock. Comfortable shoes for the interpretive walk. Do not take the first exit up a dirt road towards the tipi. Keep driving. Saw a few people head up there mistakenly. There is a huge sign at the entrance. People with physical disabilities, or other metabolic issues should be dropped off up top before parking down the hill in designated parking. It is a bit of a slog to get up the hill from there to the center.

I visited Head-Smashed-In Buffalo Jump World Heritage Site on a weekday in early July and sent several enjoyable hours there.
This was such a worthwhile place to stop. The interpretive centre's displays and films were first rate!
The lower trails outside were easy to follow and navigate. Coming across a pair of Yellow Bellied Marmots sunning themselves on a rock was a real bonus. One marmot took off but one curious fellow stuck around for quite awhile as long as I kept perfectly still and kept my distance..
MY post would not be complete without sharing some flowers too. This wild rose grew very close to the ground and the petals are paler than the bush variety. The hill side bushes were mostly Saskatoons and chokecherries and they were loaded with berries just waiting to ripen.

Great place for a quick side trip, fellow RV campers told us about it so we stopped in as it wasn’t too far out of our way. It has a great interpretive Center with 7 levels built into the hill side. The exhibits and video are excellent along with the short hike. Well worth the $15 admission.

What an amazing place to stop in and see. A very unique piece of history to learn about and see first hand. You climb stairs to the top and see the cliff then come back in and work your way down. Learning all about the history of the jump and indigenous culture. There is even a cool video, that is free to see, that is a reenactment of the buffalo jump being used. How it worked and some of the roles people had when it came to preparing the meat and catching the bison. I would 10/10 recommend stopping. The staff are so friendly!!! We even had a chance to ask a couple questions that we had to one of the staff working there. Incredible location.

A world class museum! The history and artifacts along with the cultural guide give an excellent history of the Blackfoot people and the buffalo hunt.
Cameron Campos — Google review
One of the most amazing places I have been to in Canada - so much history in one place, it's truly amazing. For context, this location has been in use for longer than the Great Pyramids have existed for.
Talk to the staff as you walk in, as they'll explain the best way to experience the tour (head all the way to the top of the building so you can complete the cliff side walk first, and then complete the floors in the museum from top to bottom. Was really impressed with the show they played in the theatre as well, surprisingly good for something that is "free" after admission. Afterwards you can walk the bottom trail to experience another perspective).
There is ample free parking on site, along with washrooms with a water station.

Great experience. Lots of information and a better understanding of indigenous people's in the area over thousands of years. The interactive displays and movies fully explained process of Buffalo jumps, which I didn't know before. Highly recommend stopping in. Takes a good couple hours to take it all in.

Very educational with information about the Buffalo Jump and the Indigenous peoples. A unique museum layout that is fitting for the theme. You get a great view of the plains when you get to the top of the museum.

This is a great experience. I highly recommend it to anyone who is travelling nearby or anyone who has grown up in this area. I loved the people here who gave their time to share their culture and stories. I recommend the film and spend a bit of time outside. If you can definitely plan to visit during the dancing or if there is a special presentation or guest.

We have been here now twice and learn something new everytime. This past family day we were happy to experience the addition of extra interpreters, storytellers, and Birds of Prey on display at the site.
Take your time and bring snacks. I noticed a lot of people on Google saying HSIBJ does not allow guide dogs. We saw a service dog in the building, but like any other museum, I'm assuming that you have to prove they are a real service dog.
We will be back to experience the museum in the summer. A special thanks to Donovan, Quinton, and Conrad for sharing knowledge and being so welcoming today.

A UNESCO World Heritage Site with a lot of informative exhibits. Make sure you watch the feature film in the theater. I would recommend 2 hours for your visit. It is a 7 level museum experience but there are elevators to facilitate if you are mobility challenged.

I've been wanting to stop here for decades and finally made the time. A great display of native history. Posted interpretive plaques throughout the park and along the trail did a great job of explaining the significance of this location. A great little walk.

Well done site. The exhibits inside the building were well done and very interesting. The access to the upper cliffs was well planned out. No long hike to get there. An elevator ride and a couple flights of stairs. Well worth the trip. The story behind the name was worth reading, and very unusual. Highly recommend.

Such a beautiful and informative site! We thoroughly enjoyed the museum displays and the walking trails. Be sure to watch the 15 minite movie in the museum theater, it was very informative and well done! The staff was very knowledgeable and friendly!

This is THE place to understand how the Blackfoot people hunted for the bison (Buffalo) and how they shared their blessings with the community, how everyone helped each other to make it possible to survive the winters.
This is an absolutely amazing museum, with all the pertinent information on display. The structure is a brilliant piece of architecture. We watched the film which was done well and we were lucky enough to join a guided tour by a Blackfoot leader.
Outside, one will be able to see the exact place where the buffalos (bisons) jumped off.
I’d say 2 hours in this place would be the minimum if you’re really interested in the details.
They have real stuffed buffalos (bisons) inside the museum situated in a high location so the viewer can appreciate what it was like for the animals at the edge of the “cliff”
This museum is highly recommended, not to be missed!
Old train station, It's so wonderful to see the rich history of this area and the preservation of a cabin, schoolhouse, and a caboose. It's so well preserved that it takes you back in time.

Just my opinion, but I think this is the BEST museum between Calgary and Lethbridge. The friends of the museum and the staff are kind and helpful. This museum works on donations and no entry fee. This is a MUST see if going through Claresholm. It is a good slice of Alberta heritage.

I enjoyed this museum, they have great collections of items of the past. I think there is something for everyone. I found the small touches of each store to be very fun to see, especially if it relates to places that we frequent on a regular basis. The barbershop, dentistry, grocery/general/hospital and the tools.
You could really spend over an hour here taking in all the details.

Best museum I've been to in a very long time and trust me, I'm a rec therapists, Ive been to alot of museums. They have a great collection of everything and very friendly service. All they ask for is a donation to the museum, recommend $2.00, so it's very inexpensive. It's wheelchair accessible but in some places there wasn't enough room to get a walker by. There was however alot of walking and my resident were very tired out after but enjoyed the overall tour, around 1 and a half hours. I look forward to going to their high tea on the lawn in August. Definitely a must go to place in the future.

This is a part of Alberta's and Canada's history that should not be missed if you are in the area.
The museum has several displays about the history of the NWMP/RCMP that are informative and eye opening.
There are also several displays that demonstrate how these men lived and worked in the rugged western frontier.
If you go take the time to take in the musical ride. Though smaller in numbers they do a good job demonstrating the skills the mounted members needed to learn and demonstrate to be on the Musical Ride.
James Conner — Google review
Awesome. There were actors giving tours to school children when we went, so it was a bit crowded and noisy, however that did little to detract from the great museum. There was first nations displays (which was our prime focus!) However this museum was primarily focused on the North West Mounted Police and their first post in this area.

First we went thru the museum which is really neat, lots of history here that’s for sure. Next was the Musical Ride which was very interesting, definitely worth the extra fee to see that! Very friendly staff on site as well.
Information Center at the front of the courtyard is open again after COVID. The flowerbeds are lush and colorful. The grounds are inviting for a stroll. These things can be enjoyed by anyone, (don't have to be a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints). Entrance to the temple building itself is only open to members under the guidance of their bishops.

Super friendly people who helped us take a family picture in the garden area. They then invited us into the lobby and told us the history of the beautiful "living water" fountain that is there.
We also visited with the missionaries in the visitor's center, who told us about the history of the temple and also informed us that some of the best Poutine in the area is in the food court at Costco.

"The Cardston Alberta Temple, a centennial sentinel of faith, stands timelessly against the backdrop of the Canadian Rockies. With a history spanning a hundred years, its solid stone walls have borne witness to countless moments of reverence, joy, and spiritual evolution. As one of the earliest temples outside the US, it's not just a monument but a testament to the unwavering commitment of generations. 5/5 for a temple that gracefully marries the legacy of the past with the hopes of eternity."

The museum boasts an impressive collection of over 270 carriages that offer a comprehensive exploration of transportation history. Visitors highly recommend taking a guided tour led by knowledgeable and friendly staff to gain insights into the highlights and background of the exhibits.

Way better than I had expected, this museum is a must, especially if you get a guided tour to explain the highlights and the background, which we did, and it was worth 10x the value than doing a self-guided one.
I would consider this one of the top sights and Must Do activities if one is doing the cowboy trail or interested in any part of Alberta's historical past.
I highly recommend a visit here, an hour and a half minimum would be good, if you get the guided tour. It’s a huge place with so many carriages with all different histories, very interesting!

From the moment one of my friends inquired about a tour, the staff was accommodating and friendly, and Jen proved to be an exceptional guide. The museum's collection is simply astounding. With over 270 carriages on display, it offers a comprehensive exploration of the history of transportation. From the humble carriages of farmers to the luxury carriages, each exhibit provides a captivating glimpse into the past. The collection not only highlights the diversity of carriage designs but also educates visitors about the historical context behind them.
One particular highlight of the museum is its restoration workshop. Witnessing the meticulous process of repairing and restoring these magnificent carriages was truly fascinating. The dedication and expertise of the craftsmen involved are evident in the impeccable results they achieve. It was a pleasure to learn about the time and care it takes to preserve these historical treasures for future generations.

The Park itself is kept very clean, the washrooms are clean as are the outhouses. Lots to do for the entire family. There's a beach with swimming although sometimes the water is a little low but still gives the little ones a place to play. The lake is great for all those boating enthusiasts as well as the fisherman. Most sites are well treed and spacious. Of course there's a ice cream store. The only problem I have is their dump station, Both flushes don't work, so you basically have just let it drain. There's no garbage so people through their garbage on the ground and on top of that you are required to pay 6.00 dumping fee 🙄

Beautiful park and campground in the valleys. The campground is spacious and not too cramped. There is lake/water reservoir by the campground which nice tiny beach.
Sadly I was able to find only one flush toilet and showers which was closed from 11PM to 7PM, so if you need to use it, do it before that. The fire pit does not have enough grills to properly grill anything.
If you need to use cellular services, either go towards to beach or go on the little hill by the ground.

An oasis amid a pretty barren part of Alberta, little bow offers plenty of amenities at a mostly reasonable price point. Middle parts of the loops do not afford much privacy and this campground can be a real zoo on the weekend so choose your site carefully. The staff ensure the bathrooms and showers are camping clean which is better then most private places I've been to. My only complaint is that the firewood price is bonkers for what you get. This is a great family campground with quiet time at 11pm it filters the rowdy folks to Travers Resivoir where they don't enforce any rules. You can expect to have a great time here if you are looking for a place to listen to the birds, fish or just go for a nice walk. No cellular connectivity unless you drive to the boat launch or the top of the hill which can be a great way to disconnect. The fishing here is excellent as well.

A nice camp ground not far from the city - an easy drive.
Not much for trees, and the spots are pretty cozy. There are flush toilets and shower facilities that are cleaned frequently, in addition to the pit toilets.
The sundries shop is always a hit with the ice cream.
The lake is great for boating, with a spot set aside for wading and splashing with the kiddos.
Be prepared for lots of mosquitos - bring lots of sunscreen and bug spray.
There are a couple of small parks for the kiddos to play at as well as some open spaces where we have seen people playing soccer and baseball.

Disappointing visit. Expecting it to be busy, we booked online for a one night @ $39/night only to be charged $51 due to $12 "booking fee". Then arrived to find it 1/4 full.
On top of that they charge $2 for a 5 minute shower and another $6 to dump our MH tanks. Bathrooms are outhouses. Lake water was very low leaving a muddy beach which was off-limits for our puppy. Go to the private campground up the hill.

Nice little campground set in a valley between the hills. Grounds were clean and well maintained. The beach and lake were great. There is a small shop at the beach selling a few snacks, food and beach toys but it's only open for a few hours on weekends.
Toilets were typical for a campground, but not bad at all.
I'd visit here again.

Dear mom & dad,
Another beautiful spot to camp as a family. Some sites don’t have a lot of shade so don’t forget to bring your own. If you want privacy, you will not find much here. There are showers and each bathroom house has two stalls (2 for women and 2 for men). The beach is small but doesn’t feel crowded. Fishing at 10-11pm is the best time!! There’s a playground, it’s okay. My kids wanted more slides and stuff though. There are swings right in front of the beach, next to a concession shop. The bathroom by the beach is not that clean, so go potty before heading to the beach. We loved it though!
Frida De La Cruz — Google review
Lovely little hidding spot in the middle of no where. We went there for the day to take a look at the campground, the beach is a small but nice one. There is a boat launch area and the campground looked nice but to open for my liking, I think I will try camping at least one time there for that review tho.
The one reason I am giving this place a 3 star is because by the beach area I did not see any flush toilet bathrooms and the bathrooms that are there are just Gross, I was told there is blush toilet bathrooms in the campground but we were by the beach so no luck with that.
Second reason I am giving it a 3 star is because I haven't had the experience of camping there yet so that might chance my mind when I am able to go camping there.
The Nikka Yuko Japanese Garden is a picturesque outdoor space that seamlessly blends Canadian and Japanese landscaping styles, featuring water elements, forests, and meadows. Located adjacent to Henderson Lake Park in Lethbridge, this garden was designed by an architect hailing from Osaka and built by artisans from Kyoto as a symbol of the enduring friendship between Japan and Canada. Visitors can enjoy strolling through the serene surroundings or partake in cultural events such as tea ceremonies, Sumo Sumo Sundays or yoga classes.
I have to say this is most amazing garden Ive seen in Canada. it very well represent Japanese garden design cues. The little streams and the little temple, plus some bonsai. really is very relaxing while walking through the garden. The pavilion will held different event by weekdays and weekends. our today Monday is showing the Japan martial arts. We so pleasing can find here and it all worth the price. 5 star recommend

What a wonderful afternoon we spent meandering through the Nikka Yuko Japanese Garden. No rush! We took it slow in a zen like fashion. The beautiful scenery enticing us to sit and relax. Listening to the water falling and making it's way through the garden. With our entrance fee we received a choice of strawberry or mocha cookie with mocha iced tea or orange juice. Very yummy!
If you stop in Lethbridge, definitely go check this out!! On the way put we checked the gift store! Lots to see and buy 🙂

Visited Nikka Yuko Japanese Garden recently, it’s an awesome place! So calm and pretty, decorated with colourful lights. Staff is super nice and the garden looks great. Must visit for a chill time.

Very peaceful and beautiful walk, very reasonably priced. I look forward to their new building being completed and going back to check that out!!
Advertised guided tours and were short staffed the day we went so no guided tours, that's the only reason they lost a star.
There was a wedding there the day we went and that was pretty cool to see all set up, it was mostly unintrusive to our experience and they were also respectful. To the newly weds Congrats!

Zen garden. Staff is super friendly and garden is well maintained. A good 2 hour drive from Calgary. Best time to visit is from 1st week of June to Mid August. Also has water park and a lake adjacent to it. Only takes an hour to get complete tour. Tea ceremony is performed on Sundays (though not sure).

Nice enough gardens, but veri lacking in colors. For the admission cost, we were disappointed. If it weren't for the small drumming show we would have been gone in less than 30 minutes. And the rules are a little ridiculous. Don't walk on the grass and rocks. YOU MUST STAY ON THE PATHS . They need to improve the scenery a little.

A good place to visit a light show with family and friends as a relaxed night out. Don't expect big and fancy things. They do provide complimentary drinks and cookies :)

Such an amazing garden. We walked out of there feeling relaxed, serene, calm and mellow. The tea ceremony was a delight to watch with lots of interesting history. This garden was designed beautifully and worth the small admission fee.
This is not a botanical garden tho. The trees, landscape and water features are gorgeous and just to sit and listen and go through the garden slowly and experience the hide and reveal aspects is fun.

The gardens were beautiful!
I took more videos then pictures and am unable to upload them.
Everything was very well maintained. The trees and bushes were well groomed and soo cute!
Make sure you stay on the path and don't pick up the rocks.
The staff was very friendly.
Would love to come back in different seasons of the year to see the leaves change to fall colors.

The perfect place for a staff Christmas party and then grab a hot chocolate to go see the lights. The drummers were excellent too! Fun to ring the bell. There needs to be a bench or two where people can stop and rest as people in our group had mobility issues but still loved the walk.

Quick and easy to check out, wouldn't take more than an hour, but you will never want to leave the place. Its beautiful, calm and refreshing. Well maintained and worth a visit. Tickets are cheaper after 5 pm and please note that the tickets are sold in the visitor center located outside the garden. There is a bell which you can ring. The staff are really friendly. Rest rooms are located in the tea house.

I had a great visit early in the morning when there was only staff there. I would highly recommend visiting at an off-peak time. The garden is small but peaceful and very green. It would not be the same experience if busy. Despite a miscommunication in ticket prices by the ticket staff, I had a good visit and would come again. The operations manager was friendly and helped clear up the issues by email. Do ring the bell, it is surprisingly easy to do so and create a loud sound. Very fun.

This place is must do when in Lethbridge. Especially for the winter festival of lights display. The Cafe and restaurant are very clean and bright. The washroom has to be one of the cleanest in the city.
Lots of parking and it's free.

Always a delight to visit the gardens. This year we took part in a Sake Tasting (highly recommend) and enjoyed the festival of lights. There's a great gift shop on site.

We enjoyed the serenity of the gardens as they were meant to be serene. The walk along the paths and the trees were very relaxing. We went through the building on site and a young lady Noreve took the time to help us make origami birds. She also explained to us that if you make one thousand of the birds you get good luck and happiness. While we were there we got to write down a wish on a piece of paper and it was tied to a tree. We are planning another visit but either in the spring when the trees are blooming or the fall when the trees change their colours. Otherwise an enjoyable visit.

If you are looking for a tranquil little space in the city, then go on down the the Japanese Gardens. It is small but beautiful. Well maintained and worth a visit. Relax on a bench or join the yoga groups that are there. Looking forward to the winter light display I was told all about!

Great place to walk and bring your kids there's parks. And even crawfish you can catch. Great clean park with bathrooms, smooth walking paths and benches to watch the sun set over the lake. For all you casual or experienced fishers there are great walleye and pike "jack" PS, wouldn't eat them.

Clean, peaceful, dog friendly, a step from golf course with no fence. Kids have fun hunting for golf balls on the rocks. Great place for walks, running, and sunset watching.

Was here with friends and it was great experience, it's a place to fish, picnic, enjoy nature, have fun, do kayaking/boat ride (come with your own, like bring your own device kinda, lol), (you are not allowed to swin though, still don't know why), and a large playground for kids as well. Walked round the lake park couple of times... It's absolutely 💯 👌

Pure Casino Lethbridge is a fantastic establishment for the residents of Lethbridge. It offers various gaming options like slot machines and gaming tables, as well as regular live entertainment. If you're interested in playing poker, it's advisable to call ahead to ensure availability. The in-house grill and bar serve up delicious food at reasonable prices, although they may have a shortage of wait staff from time to time. Despite this, customers can expect top-notch service when visiting Pure Casino Lethbridge.
Beautiful place! Great staff! The food is outstanding and such a great price!

Often stop here for supper. Great specials daily. Service is always top notch. And if u like liver this is the place. Ordered the liver, bacon, onions. Two piece and was stuffed. It comes with mashed potatoes but this time ordered the fries. Bad idea next time mashed potatoes. The fries were terrible and this happened before. Maybe frying them and re frying. Not sure but won’t order them again. Also we ordered a hot hamburger sandwich. That was fresh ground beef on Texas bread. Tasty gravey on top. Disappointed in their choice of vegetables. 🥦 cauliflower. With all the corn and peas and carrots grown around southern Alberta maybe that might be a better offering. Back to liver. Cooked just right tender and thin slices. Bacon and onions were cooked to perfection. Waiter was ok. Kinda forgot about us. But they were busy also. Always clean and the tables cleaned off fast for people waiting. Check out the pictures of the liver meal. Their prices are very reasonable and not drive in quality. Will be back that’s for sure!

For the population of Lethbridge, Pure Casino is pretty great. Decent selection of VLTs and table games. Always a good idea to call ahead if looking to play Poker. Their in house restaurant is fantastic. Good quality food at reasonable prices. The restaurant always seem short staffed with wait staff, but they always make up for it with killer service!

Food is always great and fresh , not a ton of options but a great variety and the servers are delightful and sweet all the time. Known for their liver and onions but I love the club house . ( mash potato scare scooped like hospital food ) but poutine is great! And drinks are perfect .

New years 80.00 basically for a buffet. Too many people in too small of a spot. People waiting to get food while your eating. You could see the band from any place and I could have brought my own party favors. Not worth 80.00.

Very sad how the restaurant has gone down hill. Went with friends last weekend, 1 ordered turkey dinner special. You now get 3 pieces of processed turkey slices, no more freshly cooked turkey. Baja Bowl is also very low quality & meals looked thrown together. Beef dip was full of gristle & fat. Caesar salad was slimmy & soggy. Been going to the restaurant for years & very disappointed lately. Prices have increased but quantity has dropped drastically.

Was in for a little ladies get away. Stopped at the casino. Had super at the restaurant. I had the hot hamburger 🍔 and it was only $11.50 which tasted fine. Until it didn't later in the evening. For 4 days. I ws not in good shape in my belly. But all in all the visit would've been good.
Would be back again

I’m really sad about this. I wanted so badly to leave a 5 star but we ordered prime rib medium rare was served to us well done and grey. Sent it back because that’s just nasty lol. (It’s also a super thin cut almost like a slice of roast beef)
Switched it for the NY steak it was better but not great…. The chef still over cooked it. And it was super inconsistent (some bites ok and others well done) one side was cooked more than the other. I didn’t want to sound like a complainer and send it back again so I just ate it and said thank you. We were both really disappointed.
It was our date night and was really looking forward to a bloody (actual bleeding lol) steak. The only reason I’m leaving a 3 star is because the waitresses were so nice and had excellent service. But the chef really over cooks the meat. Hope the chef improves next time because I really wanted to leave a super positive review.
The live music was great and bartenders were also wonderful. Wish I could give a 5 star. Maybe next time if the food improves.

Good burger, great gravy. The sound is almost completely turned off on the slot machines, To keep the near century old clientele happy. This place feels like a mortuary... Of course the games are tight, and if you like a casino with all the excitement of the library, this is your place..

The restaurant food was good (not great, but good) ! The wait staff were wonderful, tho,... very kind and attentive!
I'm not one who frequents casinos, so don't know how they rate amongst others. I can say that it was clean and seemed well maintained .... a bit *dated*, perhaps, in terms of decor.

We met some friends for breakfast at the casino. The breakfast special is $8.00 and was delicious. And the server kept the coffee coming!! That's something that doesn't happen much anymore! Will definitely return!

I have to admit it’s been more than 2 yrs since we stopped there due to pandemic, but my wife, daughter, son in law ,myself went here bout 7 pm for supper. My son in law ordered chicken stir fry with fine noodles. He got his order but No chicken. I ordered a beef dip w/ fries, my daughter ordered 2 parmesan deep fried curds, they came later, & chicken wings for my wife. The deep fried curds came at 2 different times, son in law got his chicken fried stir fry. Then came wife’s wings, which she couldn’t eat cause not fully cooked & my beef dip was tasty w/ gravy & beef dip sauce however it was roast beef loaded w/ grisliest beef ever. We were not impressed. Pity it’s gone so downhill. I never finished my meal & my wife never finished hers. The prices were still reasonable but quality suffered. You don’t eat eat uncooked chicken. We hope we can attend this great restaurant & casino again & find no deficiencies. Photo doesn’t show raw bones w/ckn wings. However, hopefully a large improvement due. It will be a while before we try it again sadly.

Great atmosphere, smells good. Very clean with friendly staff. Didn't eat here but played a few machines. Very well decorated! I would like to come back to try the food which I have heard is great.
So the less loved things are at the start of this list as their aren't many!
-The outdoor patio is too small. I say that because it was full and we couldn't sit out there. I imagine there are more tables non pandemic times which is why no stars were docked!
-As someone who no longer drinks alcoholic beverages, I would appreciate more non alcoholic options. Maybe a craft non alcoholic beer of some sort... could potentially be made in house... let me know if it happens, I will come try it!! I enjoyed the Grizzly Paw soda but would have enjoyed a non-alcoholic beer with my happy hour wings!
Thats it for the things I hope to see change. On to the postives:
-Menu is innovative, diverse and has ample options for all appetites.
-Alberta beef, that is always a plus for me.
-Service was fantastic!
-Food was hot, accurate to the order and tasted great. Sauces seem to be made in house? I didn't ask about that, however they were good!!
-Music volume was great and set a really comfortable atmosphere that encouraged socializing with the other patrons at my table. It also made it easy to hear the server!
-Being able to see into the brewery while dining made for an interesting and more unique dining experience.
-Restaraunt is kid friendly complete with limited kids menu!
-Locally owned
Tldr great food, great service, good atmosphere, locally owned, supports other local vendors. In the words of John Catucci "You Gotta Eat Here!!"

Very nice brewery with outside patio and decor. Selection of beer was great and tasty. We ordered appetizer (3 little pigs) and was pleasantly surprised by its size and pizza was huge for even 2 people to share. Service was a bit slower and sometimes confused (too many servers for one table). Otherwise everything was great and its worth to visit. Would definitely go back again.

The salads are overpriced, not to mention everything we ordered ended up so heavy with salt it was hard to eat. Was unable to mention it to staff because they were constantly unavailable. Was going to order dessert, but once they cleared our plates, they left us there for 20 minutes with no one coming by. Let's not forget how a few of the wait staff were allowed to wear ripped and hole filled jeans. Not very professional looking. We went to the Casino instead for dessert and got the best service! We will be investing in a different company now, and our dining out will be at the Casino, where the staff are always attentive towards all their tables, regardless of how busy they are (which, btw, they had less serving staff than Coulee and far more tables to serve, look clean and hygienic, not to mention professional. This is the 2nd time I have been to Coulee and left feeling ripped off and ignored by staff. So much for giving them a second chance.

Had a great time here, staff super friendly and the facilities are very nice. Food was delicious, I got a flight to try 4 beers, I only liked 1 but that's the joy of getting flights you get to try lots of different beers and you don't have a big glass of it. Vibe was super cool. I definitely recommend stopping by for a beer and eating some food! My burger was so good I forgot to take a picture and destroyed that burger. 😂 🍔

The food was absolutely disgusting. The house made "beer cheese sauce" consisted of either Cheese Whiz or Velveeta that began hardening in front of our eyes. The pretzel bites were what seemed to be under-cooked Pillsbury dough with some garlic salt; which were also served with the elegant "beer cheese sauce." I do appreciate the atmosphere that the owners are going for, however the menu needs a complete overhaul and the quality of preparation must change. I did enjoy the beer... So, for now folks, stick with the drink menu.

One of the trendiest craft breweries in all of Alberta!
From the open window brew rooms, the rustic vibe, large screen tv’s - all the way to the merch section and menu, we were smitten.
Being here felt like being back home in Ontario, where there are 3 times as many breweries. I cannot recommend Coulee Tap Room enough.

I placed an order for some kids meals and an adult meal as we were staying at one of the hotels close by. I looked at the menus they had online and ordered 2 kids fish n chips, kids chicken fingers and a entree salad. When I arrived to pick up the order, they proceeded to charge me for 2 adult fish n chips instead of the kids version. They explained that there was no kids fish n chips(even though it was on the kids menu). I said I would take one of the adult sized fish n chips, I didn't need 2 full sized orders. I paid for everything, went to my hotel room, only to find that the fish n chips was a KIDS sized portion, even though I paid full price. I was shocked. After a long day of travelling, I didn't want to return to argue with the 2 waitresses.
The whole meal was not good. The salad I ordered was brown. And their supposed homemade fries.....not homemade as you can see in the picture. These 2 meals, are exactly the same portion , but I paid $19 for one and $9 for the other......which actually on their website says the kids meals are $7. Not impressed, don't recommend this place at all.

Great place just off Hwy 3, and worth a visit! So cool that they are reviving Canadian brew, but the menu is classic American. It would be neat if they incorporated more Canadian style food as well. Bonus: they have a free phone charging station!

The new fried chicken open face sandwich was excellent and a generous portion! I appreciate any Caesar salad with REAL bacon bits. My only comment is that an open face sandwich like this that requires a knife and fork to eat, shouldn’t been served on a sheet of paper over a tin dish. The paper didn’t take long to tear through and get soggy from the sauce and I wonder how much paper I ingested. Servers were friendly and I enjoyed the atmosphere. Nice to eat somewhere that isn’t a chain when traveling and staying in hotels. Will return when I am back in town.
