This nature preserve serves as a lovely alternative for those who want to witness these charming creatures in their natural habitat without breaking the bank or dealing with large crowds.
Lovely. Compared to the Cape Town penguins I liked this a bit better but alas if you like animals I’d just do both. I feel like this one had more but I think the stats say otherwise. It was very cheap and calm and relaxed and super nice backdrop so maybe that gives this one an edge for me

I really think that this place should stay open later during December holidays! 16h00 is way too early to close.
Other than that, it was a nice experience. We saw some local lizards, dassies and ofcourse... penguins...doing the nasty 😊😆😄.
Andre van Wyk — Google review
Nice place to see the penguins. Entrance fee only 30 ZAR for adults and 20 ZAR for kids. Card payments preferred over cash payments. Easy to spot them from the wooden boardwalks. Must say Boulders Beach is a little nicer to visit and see the penguins, even if you don't go for the excessive entrance fee there and just walk the free wooden boardwalks there, like we did. Clean free public restrooms on site.

Oh my goodness, what a lovely place to visit. With wheelchair access, making this spectacular place accessible to everyone. The penguins and cormorants are a special treat to see being so relaxed in their natural habitat. Even spotted some Oyster catchers. Waterdikkop and Egyptian geese. The boardwalk is an easy relaxing walk for everybody to enjoy with some seating areas available as you walk along. Take your time to enjoy the breathtaking views. I would suggest a beanie and warm jacket just in case.
Domonic H. Ferreira — Google review
Plenty of penguins sunbathing for you to admire. Some are even brave enough to come really close to you when they try to get back to their nests on land giving you a proper up close and personal experience with them.
rowan profitt — Google review
Nice place to see a lot of penguins in the early morning. The boardwalk was closed and the reason why is not clear. But the experience wouldn’t be less. The peguins were walking in front of our feet and had some great interaction with them.
Celeste ten Hoor — Google review
Excellent.
There are endangered penguins and it's worth it to drive out here to see them in their (almost) natural habitat.
The parking is ample though it does get crowded on free access days, but everyone is super friendly and polite.
People are willing to help you take the pic that you were chasing.
The entire walk is pretty short, but the path is well-marked and accessible for wheelchair users.
There are also plenty of signage along the way to keep you informed as well as benches to sit and take it in.
The smell isn't so great.
Normal cost for entry is only R30 per person, and no Wild cards apply.

Betty’s bay is known as the 2nd penguin beach in capetown. If you want to see penguin colony infront of your eyes then this the place you must visit . Thousand of penguins walking infront of you it’s kind of dream so amazing and the penguins is so adorable
Fauzia Ezaz — Google review
For Betty's Bay and Simon's Town
to visit the penguins,
my biggest difference is that
Stony point is more vivid
and natural than Boulder beach!
There is no noise from vendors and crowds;
and there are no too many artificial fences
that make us feel closer to the penguins.
Secondly, Stony point fares are cheaper;
half-jokingly: one belongs to local residents,
another one belongs to foreign tourists.
Plus:
The penguins at Stony point have neighbors:
Rock Rabbits! You can find them at the entrance;
they are timid, please don't startle them.
Finally, a special recommendation:
For the penguin viewing itinerary at Betty's Bay,
please stop by the Harold Porter Botanical Garden;
if possible, go to the Kleinmond Harbour
for seafood too!... ... . 😋
Tai ko — Google review
Stony Point is a beautiful setting with about 500m of board walks along which you walk to view the penguins that live and breed there. You can get right up close to them, but are not allowed to touch them as they do bite! There are also spectacular views of the ocean and mountains from the boardwalks!
It is a fun place to bring younger kids for a short outing and for adults who want to see penguins up close.
It costs R20 for adults and R10 for children, but because it was school holidays when we went, the kids got in for free.
Rob Walker — Google review
Great views of the breeding penguins from the well maintained boardwalk and viewing points. Well worth paying for a pass to walk right out to get stunning sea backed views of the extensive colony. Keep an eye out for Dassies and lizards as it will add to your whole experience.
Andy Stewart — Google review
A really nice 30 minute walk along the boardwalk viewing penguins, many types of lizards, dassies and birds. Entry is R25 per adult and R15 per child. Some good information is available. There are signs of wear and tear on the information boards and boardwalk.
Dorp St is a narrow street with historic white washed buildings in the city center of Stellenbosch. It has a great outdoor ooen air vibe and offers stunning views of the city. There are numerous restaurants, cafes and shops along the street.

The botanical Garden at the University of Stellenbosch is a beautiful place with a wide variety of native and imported plants, including bonsai. It also has four glasshouses and themed gardens.
In the heart of Stellenbosch you will find the Stellenbosch University Botantical Gardens. The diverse vegetation in the gardens is amazing and there are numerous paths exploring different areas spread throughout where you can take in the beauty, learn about the different plant species and even bring a picnic to enjoy there. When we visited the entrance fee was R 15.00 per person which is very budget friendly and as they are open every day of the week, excluding certain public holidays, there is no reason to not visit even just for a quick walk around. The Katjiepiering Restaurant (reviewed separately) is also located within the garden and is a good option to grab breakfast or brunch. Whether you are a couple wanting to go for a romantic walk, a family with kids or even on your own, this is a great place to spend some time and take in the natural surroundings.
Dewald Reinke — Google review
R15 entrance fee into this small but very well organised botanical garden. There is a pathway to follow and visit every informative tree, bush and shrub (the information is about the actual living entity). There is also a restaurant in the centre which makes for a nice quaint place to visit with friends or family. All in all a very well preserved piece of land.
Muhammad Manuel — Google review
This is a small garden, but very well maintained and beautiful. It's peaceful place, good for reading. We walked around, it has good collection of plants and a cute gift shop.
Simona Marinkova — Google review
Stellenbosch University Botanical Garden is simply exquisite and delightful.
To be fair, it’s smaller than other botanical gardens, but there is a variety and depth here rarely seen elsewhere.
For starters, the bonsai collection is very impressive, housing one of the oldest plants in SA.
There’s also two working greenhouses for visitors, as well as a gift shop and restaurant.
All this available within walking distance of the town’s centre and at an entry cost of only R15 (under $1).
It would be more inclusive if there was more access for those with wheelchairs and guided tours would be a great addition.
Duncan Alfreds — Google review
Lovely oasis on a hot autumn day.
Restaurant was busy but after a 10 minute stroll we came back and got a table under the shade of a big tree. Prices were very reasonable. The girls ordered scone, muffin and carrot cake. Boys had egg breakfast.
The garden has lots of nooks and crannies tucked away on windy pathways surrounded by luscious vegetation. With plenty of benches tucked under trees for a little quiet contemplation.
Variety of bonsai trees is amazing.
Sonnette Smith — Google review
Amazing botanical garden. It's small in size but has the most diverse collection of plants. The bonsai display is a treat to any bonsai enthusiast. Will come again in Spring.

Had a lovely time walking through the garden.
Lots of different kinds of flora to see with benches situationed throughout the garden to just sit and soak in the beauty.

One entrance garden was dry and unkempt. Further down the path there was a sign stating they were upgrading the garden...work in progress. The pond lillies are beautiful.
Odette FRANK — Google review
It was a very interesting garden with many rare vegetation species not found in my country. Although small in size, the garden was full of rare species, glass houses, aquatic plants, a café, and a store.
Hidemi — Google review
Lovely garden environment. Very relaxing and beautiful pond with water lilies.
Sheng H — Google review
Very tranquil however a lot of the plants were dead or in the process of dying. It has been awfully hot so I wasn't surprised. Restaurant very nice though
Sylvia Bester — Google review
Great variety and beautifully kept gardens. So relaxing to walk through the whole garden and then you end up at the bonsai garden and little shop with cute things. The coffee shop is nice for a little tea break. The cactus garden and the green house are also very cool and the different kinds of water lilies amazed me.

Our visit to the Botanical Gardens in Stellenbosh was lovely! It is so peaceful there, you actually can't believe you're just next to the road. There is a restaurant in the centre of the garden, that will definitely be on my list for my next visit.
You can have a picnic on the lawn as well, perfect for a date🤗. The entrance cost was R15, and free for our little one. Highly recommend going if you want to escape a bit!

The Harold Porter National Botanical Gardens is a botanical garden located in Bettys Bay near Cape Town in South Africa. The gardens were established by the South African Botanical Society in 1984 and are home to a wide range of flora, including indigenous oasis of beauty. The gardens are open Monday-Saturday 8am-5pm, and closed on Sunday and public holidays.
Amazingly beautiful and very educational for those interested in our Cape Floral Kingdom (one of the 6 Floral Kingdoms of the world, with the most species). We bought a lovely book from the shop about dragonflies and damselflies, so we could identify the Blue Emporer Dragonfly that was dancing around us. Plus all the other dragonflies we spotted. Full of birdlife, amazing mountain views and a short hike takes you to the beautiful Waterfall 😍. Also while I was sitting under the tree absorbing the peace and wonderful energies, a baboon came walking straight towards me, I slowly turned my back to the baboon, pretending it was just normal and casual, and he walked straight past me. See video. I deliberately focused on sending out calm energies instead of panic. 🏆 experiences

A botanical garden situated on the mountain slope with a view of the ocean.
Absolutely spectacular featuring all the local fauna and flora , beautiful waterfalls with easy walking trails around the garden or hiking trails along the mountain slopes.
A beautiful spot for families, and ideal for picnics. The restaurant and nursery are now open again after lockdown.
Wheelchair accessible
No dogs allowed due to the wildlife in gardens.
Even on a windy day, this is still a great spot to visit
Liezelonline — Google review
A magnificent botanical garden to go visit. Lots of open space to roam around and it boasts 2 waterfall walks to go on. Very easy walks.
It does get busy so I would go early in the morning. It can get slippery on the walks so make sure to wear proper shoes.
Crimson Binome — Google review
What an incredible experience. These gardens are immaculately maintained. We always enjoy our time here and although the restaurant might be a bit lacking the gardena and the fauna and flora is amazing. There are so many varieties of plants and learning activities for the kids as they walk through the different areas. It has both longer and shorter hikes. You can take a gentle stroll up to the waterfall or hike up the kloof if you want a bit more of a challenge. I would rate this as one of the best botanical gardens in the country.
Wybrand Ganzevoort — Google review
Awesome place that is very well maintained. A lot of history explained thru the gardens and quite educational. The hiking trails and waterfalls are market clearly and safe.
Johan Venter — Google review
Well maintained botanical garden with exceptional views of the biodiversity within as well as the natural scenery of the rolling mountains. Entrance fee is payable upon arrival, with options for students, children and pensioners.
The gardens offer multiple paved pathways which are wheelchair friendly, expansive lawns for seating and for children to play as well as a restaurant and market area.
I’d highly recommend one of the walks which is approximately 20 minutes to the waterfall.
Vikash Parbhoo — Google review
A beautiful place to take a quiet stroll, fun hike or have a picnic. Some amazing flowers come spring. Be considerate of the baboons in the area... but they make for an interesting sight to add to the day!

Absolutely stunning! The gardens are maintained to perfection! What an incredible facility. The hikes are lovely too. We did leopards kloof and zigzag trails. Quiet, clean, and a great morning out!
K M (Morribiscuit) — Google review
Very beautiful. Did the Leopard kloof trail and Disa kloof trail which was beautiful and had stunning waterfalls. A very easy walk, don't have to be fit and trail was well marked. A key is needed to be able to walk Leopards kloof, which can be found at the pay point as you enter the botanical garden. Definitely worth going.

Visited the botanical gardens hike and was utterly mesmerized! The verdant scenery was enchanting, and the two cascading waterfalls with redish water from all the minerals added a magical touch. A serene escape from the bustling city. Highly recommend!

A small but beautiful botanical garden.
Easy paths lower down and more rough, strenuous paths higher up.
The level of difficulty depending on the paths you choose
The path up to the water fall is eay bit well worth a follow.
Richard Hayes — Google review
We always love spending time at the gardens. Although the water levels are low this time of year, the waterfalls are always beautiful, and we managed to snap a couple of images of the often times elusive Disa flowers at the Disa's Kloof trail.
Jolanda de Wet — Google review
Amazing view! Easy walking trails through the gardens or hiking trails if you’re up for it. If not, you can always just pack a picnic basket and enjoy sitting on the grass. Just be on the lookout for baboons. The hiking trail was so easy, my 7 month pregnant wife enjoyed it. Everything is kept clean and in order. The staff is very friendly and helpful. There is even parkruns on saturday mornings. I would definitely recommend a day spent here.

A beautiful, well-kept national garden nestled into the mountains with stunning views. The waterfall is a short, easy walk away even for older people. We didn't do any of the trails this visit. Even so, the gardens are worth the visit. Wonderful places to picnic. The restaurant is nice, with a small menu that covers all the bases. Very tasty food. Delicious fruit smoothie!

Great place to take out-of-towners! Everything you need to showcase our beautiful city in one place - wine tasting, chocolate tasting, beer tasting, and mouth-watering pizza 🍕
Oh, and the beautiful views of the mountains and the vineyards. Absolutely stunning 😍

There is a lot to do here from wine 🍷 tasting, beer 🍺 tasting to Gin 🍻 tasting to chocolate 🍫 tasting and more !
You need time for this place and a taxi ride home 🏡 unfortunately we didn't try the beer or gin tasting but next time we shall.
A few good looking restaurants from Sushi 🍣 to wood 🔥 oven pizza 🍕 again we unfortunately didn't have time for them.
It's on a hillside but you can see so far and it has absolutely stunning scenery.
You need to make time for this place but it's well worth the time.

A lovely place to visit, very quiet and out of the way. There are a few options available for food, and drinks.
Parking is a bit tight, so if you can get there on a bus or many people in one car.
It gets very busy over the weekends especially around lunch time.

This was an absolutely wonderful experience. We tried everything from the wine tasting to the chocolate tasting, pasta and teas.
We went on a Saturday, so it was fairly busy. However, the location is laid out so well that it does not feel overcrowded.
A definite must visit, we will absolutely be returning!

Quite a fun family outing. Enjoyed the many different things to do there. Settled on having a Gin tasting at Wilderers and then some pizza after. The gluten free pizza was excellent and a pleasant surprise. The staff were quite friendly and helpful, with good service to match. Will most definitely recommend this place as a fun outing. Only criticism is the play park and some of the facilities that are a bit broken and in need of repair / upgrade.

A beautiful complex (estate?) with a beautiful view. The complex holds a few different buildings catered for different tastings. For me the biggest anticipated tasting event was the CBC tasting, but I was quite pleased with the gin tasting. There is also a bistro for when you get hungry.

Numerous tasting options, including tea, wine, charcuterie, chocolate, gin and beer. One can easily spend a full day there (as opposed to Fairview down the road, which is better for an hour or two). There are a few restaurants (some of which are closed Monday to Wednesday).

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit here. There's much to see and do.
Moigoeters craft shop is lovely. The assistant was friendly & welcoming.
The lady at Brenda's shop is equally friendly & attentive and there's an amazing variety of spices, jams, teas and other goods that's very appealing & hard to overlook.
We had lunch at La Grapperia Pizza & Bistro. The Ham & Pineapple pizza was delicious but sadly we cannot say the same about the Pork loin chops which was hard, dry and bland.
The barman at the Distillery is very friendly and welcoming.
Overall, a day well-spent. I recommend a visit.

Went out for a birthday celebration and took family from Ireland here for the 1st time. Did chocolate tasting then on to the ice creams then some wine tasting
Also visited the brewery but never did the beer tasting, also gave gin tasting a skip. Unfortunately there is no more glass blowing and shop only open Fri-Sun
Ended up having lunch at the bistro and pizzeria . Tried a few of the German dishes and they were very nice.
The scenery and setting is amazing , my 4th visit and I'll be back

It was okay, I mean, the place is beautiful. The food at the one restaurant was not the best, nor the wine. The pottery painting was also nice, but they had little equipment. I asked for a thin paint brush and they didn't have at all so I couldn't do the design I wanted. I expected a lot more from the experience as a whole. It's also difficult to navigate your way around the place, there are a lot of dead ends.
The views are beautiful though. But I wouldn't go again, personal opinion🤷♀️.

A visit to Spice Route is an enchanting experience, offering an array of delightful tastings that promise an exceptional day out. As a passionate enthusiast of beer tastings, I found the brewery's offerings to be a veritable paradise for my taste buds. The diverse range of brews, each with its unique character and notes, provided a captivating exploration of the craft.
Conversely, my wife found her joy in the elegant world of spirits and chocolate tastings. The combination of fine spirits and decadent chocolates made for an exquisite pairing that left her in awe of the intricate flavors and textures.
However, Spice Route isn't merely a haven for tasting adventures; it's also home to La Grapperia Pizza & Bistro, an establishment where dining becomes an art. My personal favorite, the Eisbein, is an epitome of culinary excellence. Its succulent, tender meat with crispy, flavorful skin is unparalleled, making it a true standout. I wholeheartedly assert that no other place can rival its exquisite taste.
Spice Route, beyond its culinary and libation offerings, is an idyllic setting for a day out, whether with your loved ones or friends. The picturesque surroundings and the warm, welcoming ambiance create a perfect backdrop for memorable moments. The rolling vineyards and panoramic views only enhance the overall experience, making it a destination to savor and cherish.
In summation, a visit to Spice Route is a multi-faceted delight for those seeking a day of exploration and indulgence. From beer and spirits tastings to extraordinary dining experiences, it's a place where the senses are enraptured, and where you can escape the everyday, be it with loved ones or friends.

My first visit was brief, but a great experience - was there for our company lunch, in December 2023. Decided to take my family there in March 2024. It was an amazing experience and a pleasure to support the local businesses there and interact with the friendly staff. It's a relaxing environment with picturesque scenery. Many things to do. Recreational facilities for kids too. One visit is not enough to enjoy everything they have to offer. I'll be back. - Bradley Lewis

Stunning and peaceful to browse the little shops nestled between giant, centuries old, English Oak trees. Had lunch at Jewell's; food was good, but the apple pie was served cold and with only a spoon, making it difficult to slice.
Service was friendly and fast.

There’s so much to do for the entire family, and you can spend the entire day trying to partake in all they have to offer. My favorite was the chocolate store, I found so many of my favorite chocolate to take with me. We all enjoyed the wine tasting, and pairings, but didn’t have time to partake in art painting activities, and enough time to sit down for a late lunch and enjoyed the charcuterie boards, breads, and excellent lunch menu, the steak was slightly overcooked but enjoyed the salmon, duck and chicken.

Fairview Wine and Cheese is a vineyard and goat farm that offers wine and cheese tasting sessions as well as a Mediterranean-style restaurant. The property features playful goats that add to the charm of the place. In addition, there is a quirky Fairview Vineyard with its resident goats and accompanying Goat Tower. Visitors can spend time watching these friendly animals while savoring the ambiance of the place. Boschendal also offers wine and cheese plates for those who love this pairing experience.
What a great time we had at this wine farm.
My guest were from France and in true French style that had to have the cheese and wine pairing tasting with a wee bit of flair. They bought a baguette and dried sausage to add this to the experience 😉
We spent a couple of hours here spending time with the goats and savoring the ambiance.
A must got to place of you love cheese and wine😉

A great two hour experience. We had a cheese and wine paring for the taste experience. The cheese is extremely good, especially the goat cheese. The wine is also commendable. We enjoyed the becon Shiraz the most. The setting of the wine tasting is inside. International tourist should put this place on their top 10 in the area.

Great opportunity to taste local SA wine and locally made goat cheese. This is a charming and relaxing place where you can have a leisurely brunch or lunch. The wines are very good and the cheese is excellent.

An excellent place to visit, you can enjoy breakfast from 09H00 - 11H15 and thereafter other delicious tasty food from their menu. A must visit is their cheese tasting area, where you can taste the different goats cheeses. Don't forget to visit their wine tasting room as well. They have an excellent selection of wines. Will come back here for another visit soon.

Loved the display of all their beautiful products and some wines...
We went there just for the Sweet White, but unfortunately they were sold out...
Thank you for all your lovely cheeses, glazes and sweets which are always fresh

Wonderful morning of wine and cheese tasting for the grown-ups and ice-cream tasting for the kids. Fun to see the goats climbing their tower, must be a great view from up there over the vineyards ;-P
Lots of delicious things to buy in the shop too

Impressive wine estate making it's own cheese. Beautiful grounds as you would expect for the region. The tasting session was extensive and the pairing with cheese delightful.
Well worth a visit, and well worth a purchase.

Very cozy place with a garden (we found funny with unique shape lemons here). In addition to goats, there are many squirrel 🐿. There is a shop with a large selection of cheeses and other things here.
This winery is famous for its Shiraz. I liked Fairview Pinotage most of all.
A small minus is that the wine tasting takes place standing. But the cost for a tasting of 7 wines with a plate of cheeses is only 50 rand.

Highly recommend. The ambience is very cozy and the staff is excellent. A good variety of different vines. The reds are to try. They also sells cooling bags to maintain the wine at the right temperature. They pair every wine with a different type of cheese from the farm, the cheese also are exquisite. They sell a lots of different products from the jam to the honey.
They have Swiss goats that you can visit as well. Very professional.

Fairview Wine and Cheese is a must-visit destination for wine and cheese lovers!!!
The wine selection is excellent, with a range of varietals to suit all tastes, and the cheese is some of the best in the country.
The tasting room is spacious with fantastic atmosphere and well-appointed, with knowledgeable staff who provide excellent service.
The outdoor area is also lovely, with stunning views of the surrounding grounds and the stunning goat enclosures.
In addition to wine and cheese, the farm also offers a range of other products, including olives, artisanal bread, and delicious foods to pair with your wine and cheese.
Highly recommended for a relaxed day out in the Winelands!

I really liked the wine farm. The restaurant cooks delicious food and R200 is enough for one person to eat 👍🏼 the wine is also very tasty and the wine testing is very interesting (together with goat cheese) only R60. Rita is a very nice girl, she has good energy, it’s nice to listen to her and talk to her)

It was my first time in Paarl, and the experience was truly unforgettable. The breathtaking views left me in awe. Fair View is a charming and tranquil place that exudes coziness. I had the pleasure of savoring some exceptionally delicious wines and cheeses, making the visit even more delightful. The wine tasting experience was intriguing and added an extra layer of enjoyment to my trip. Although I don't have children, I could see how Fair View would be a perfect destination for families, thanks to the entertaining presence of playful goats. My heartfelt thanks for the wonderful experience!

Excellent Wine Estate 🍷 and Restaurant. Great for lunch. The menu is so diverse. Staff handles crowds well. The goats are cute. Gardens magnificent. I love the variety of cheeses and breads. I have been going there since 1993 with my guests. Bookings are essential because it is,always busy. Toilets are clean. I don't drink wine, but they say it's excellent. Wine tasting is enjoyed by my guests regularly. The history is impressive.

Lovely wine tasting experience and a great shop. Not very much else to do though (in contrast to Spice Route next door). Beautiful gardens and a few goats to look at.

We went on a series of three wine tasting events. Fairview was the first one. This was a wonderful experience. Six different wines with pairing cheeses. Although we are not big cheese fans, in this setup it worked out fine… also the atmosphere and the knowledge of the sommelier contributed to a perfect wine tasting event. Do you like wine 🍷? Than this is a must do… Menekşe & René

Boschendal Wine Estate is a beautiful wine farm located in the Western Cape with views of the mountain range. They offer accommodation with a spa and dining, as well as other services such as a market and wine tastings.
We stayed here last year and absolutely loved it. Stayed in one of the beautiful cottages and loved the details for our 2 year old. So enjoyable to have a fireplace and stunning views of the mountains. The farm tour was exceptional and the staff and food fantastic. Would stay here again and highly recommend.

Spent Christmas here, the grounds and the views are beautiful, although you aren't actually staying on the estate if you are in the cottages and are about a 10 minute drive from most of the facilities including breakfast, but they are always very prompt for pick ups.
Food there was outstanding and some of the best we had on our trip. Overall a great stay.

Amazing place! We stayed at the newly renovated retreat cottages. The place is within beautiful nature and the staff went above and beyond for us to have a great time.
We loved the biking trails, the farm tour, the night marked, the Picknick and the snacks at the farm shop. Additionally the owners seem to be interested in sustainable solutions for the environment and their employees.
Big recommendation to go there!

Beautiful place. Good wines. Very nice play area. But, time to step up your game and offer vegan options. There are barely any dairy free options. Simply add vegan cheese to your pizzas. So easy! The friday night markets are fun for the family but very slow service. Poorly managed. Such a shame

Amazing attention to detail and 1st class service from all the staff. Food was absolutely amazing for all meals and the amount of activities blew my mind. Want to say a great thanks to the staff at the Werf restaurant for making our breakfast experience wonderful. The accommodation at the orchards was also great. Also enjoyed the wine tasting.

The wine tasting could have been better, but it did not detract from the whole experience.
This a good place to visit if you have children.

Went to Friday Night Market. Veh chill and nice for relaxing. The market is focused on food and picnic approach with bean bags and cloths for rent to chill under the trees, drink some wine, eat some food from the stalls and listen to cool, live music. Great for all ages and a really restful ace to visit after a busy week.

The welcome and first night stay was lovely. We were happy with the Wertz cottage.
Unfortunately, on day two we found a big mouse rotten in our cottage and then we were given a downgraded cottage. The rest of the evening experience and room service took away from our family Christmas and birthday experience.
The management gave us 20% off but in our view, it was only because we asked for it and it only covers the difference in the downgraded room. Essentially our day two experience and only chance to relax wasn’t the same in the evening and we were all quite upset about it.
We understand it’s a busy time of year but a well known estate and business should have the right guest experience services in place to care for their international guests.
We’re a family that work in tourism and hospitality and have experienced and enjoyed luxury to basic accommodation. We were disappointed that there was nothing more offered to make up for this experience after traveling far for it.
Research which cottage you’re booking as the Orchids were nothing special compared to Wertz.
Definitely consider a day visit if not a full night stay. Nice tree house for kids, kid activity options, and wine tasting and food service. Overall, it’s beautiful. Personally, I don’t think a rotten should be found in the room after it’s been cleaned by room service.
The gentlemen at the welcoming is super lovely.
Food, lifestyle & food market are super nice and convenient.

We went to South Africa for our 25th anniversary and were lucky enough to stay at Boschendal for the night of our anniversary. We stayed in the Retreat Cottages and it was delightful, the view of the cannas and the mountains in the distance is absolutely stunning. The gardens are beautiful, and the breakfast area was fabulous.
The team at reception very kindly gave us a bottle of wine on arrival and another bottle of MCC as it was our anniversary. The women on reception were just lovely! And we enjoyed them in front of the fire!

Wonderful!
A dream winery with great wines. We did a wine tasting (white wine) here at the end of March 2023. The location in the courtyard under the trees and the wines were wonderful. We were served competently and provided with brief concise information about the wines. The entire grounds are beautifully landscaped with fountains, a vegetable garden and farm stores to browse. All in all, a great experience.

Peregrine Farm Stall is a bakery that specializes in fresh, homemade pies and bread. The bakery is located in Grabouw, and it has a tradition of quality produce. Parking is easy and the bathrooms are clean. The pies are amazing and well worth the stop!
It was very nice to stop there for lunch because they had vegan options. I had a very filling plant-based bootie pie, an excellent brownies and a freshly squeezed juice.
You can either sit inside at the café or if you prefer to sit outside they have a patio that covers from the sun.
The shop offers a wide selection of nice and fresh products.

Love this place, everything you would imagine from a Farm stall.
Great for a pit-stop, stocking up on "padkos" or sit down at the cafe. Really enjoyed the coffee and food at the cafe.
Wonderful atmosphere with a great variety of fresh produce, bread, cheese & wine selection that you can either take home or enjoy at the picnic spots with the kids.

We stopped at Peregrine en route to our safari while in SA thanks to a recommendation from a local friend in Cape Town.
We got there early in the morning and the pies were extremely fresh, flakey, hot and flavorful. I could have easily eaten two. Absolutely recommend the steak and kidney and pepper steak. One of the nicest pies I have eaten recently.
We ordered a coffee and spend the best part of half an hour browsing through the aisles, exploring preserves, ferments and local delights not to mention the fresh fruit and wine on offer.
If ever passing by, this place is an absolute must and would definitely recommend it to anyone in need of a great pie or something to eat or drink at any time of day. Very friendly service, loads of parking and fun and bubbly atmosphere.

Best stop along the garden route. The beauty of the shop is equally matched to the great tasting pie! Was amazing with the ease to get in the shop, select item and make a purchase despite the busy parking lot and tables full with people. Was a lovely Sunday afternoon and was well worth the stop. Parking was easy and bathrooms were clean was an overall good experience with once again a reminder about the excellent pies!

Great farm stall deli to stop along your travels and is super kid friendly. Amazing selection of foods and wines in the deli, pies are a must grab and the coffee shop is good for those wanting a sit down breakfast or lunch. Service is ok and could be friendly, they were very busy and has a convey belt feel to it, sit eat and go. If you wish to do rather do a take away and go or sit on outside benches it’s provided for. Parking is great and sufficient but can get chaotic at times when they’re busy. Big kids play area and lots to see but keep little once close as I mentioned it’s busy.

Always the stop to make when passing! Best baked breads ever at reasonable prices vs a bakery. From Sourdough to seeded breads & even mosbolletjies. Cafés meals are good, top service & always bustling. Outside seating area, play area, book bus, & a few other on site vendors including a mini nursery.

There is no better place to stop for food when on a road trip than Peregrine Farm Stall, you will discover simple but delicious food and fresh pressed apple juice for the mind body and soul!
There is plenty of parking, an in door sit down restaurant, an out door space for eating food bought from the takeaway section. There is a wonderful selection of freshly baked pies that are on another level and really are a must have eating experience while the apple juice too is the tastiest I’ve ever had personally.
There is the an old fire truck converted into a second had book shop called Burning Books, a very interesting little shop to visit.
So all in all well worth the visit, but please note when leaving and turning Right, be careful of traffic from the left as there is a fast bend and traffic can be busy.

Did a quick lunch stop here on the way back home from a weekend in Greyton. It is a lovely space with a lot to see, from the main restaurant area to the coffee shop/bar area, a juice/smoothie bar, to all the little shops outside. They have a cute play area for kids as well, including a tractor. They're also pet friendly as long as your pet is on a leash or in a travel bag. I would highly recommend trying their pies, my personal favorite is the Plant-based Bobotie Pie, it's super filling and packed with flavor. They also have their pies available to buy frozen and take home with you. Definitely worth a visit, my only complaint is that it can get a bit crowded at times, and then people become inconsiderate and bump into you but that is not the place's fault really.
Anne Burger — Google review
This upmarket and modern market is home to many locally produced products and fresh produce. My choosing on this particular morning was the carrot cake muffin and the cold pressed apple juice. My goodness, if this is what apples tasted like in the garden of Eden, I forgive Eve. By a mile the best Apple juice I’ve ever had. The carrot cake muffin was however not lost in the shadow of the juice, as this too was a memorable experience from the very first taste. The crusty shell accompanied by the robes of velvety filling on top, will cause your fat to spread like a rumor, but once you taste this masterpiece, any won’t be able to stop yourself. Be sure to take more than one, as unfulfilled pleasures may keep you up at night.

We've never been here and dropped in to see what they have. Great variety and very tasty pies with a lot of filling : bobotie, venison, chicken, steak and kidney, steak, vegan etc, etc.
Quite easy parking even during holiday time.
Also bought home baked sourdough bread. We were somewhat in a hurry and didn't go to the other small shops.

The Franschhoek Motor Museum is a privately owned and operated museum featuring an extensive collection of antique and vintage cars and motorcycles. The museum has over 200 vehicles on display, dating back to the early 1900s. Some of the rarest and most iconic cars in the museum's collection include a Bugatti Type 23, Alfa Romeo Spider, Buick Marquette, Ford Model T and Mercedes-Benz W21.
Beautiful cars, each one with some detail of its history. A few bikes for the bike lovers. Overall very interesting and we had a lovely time as a family. There is a coffee shop as well as a wine and souvenir shop. The only slightly annoying thing was even though you can visit anytime now (Apr 2022) you have to buy your ticket online and then only ride in. We had to park outside the gate ,do the online booking and payment and then we could drive in. But otherwise, it was awesome and staff was friendly.

Lovely setting, amazing cars and motorbikes on display, just a short drive from Cape Town. I do wish you could get around the cars, though, the way it is laid out means you can only see about half of each car because you can only approach from one angle. It would be nice if they were either individually roped off or parked slightly away from the wall, so you could get around them completely for a 360 degree look.

Awesome cars. Some very old cars and some very modern cars. 4 big show rooms that is well air-conditioned in the very hot part of the Franschoek Valley. Oh boy . If you are a petrol head and happen to be anywhere around, stop by the museum. Collection is just breathtaking. Bear in mind, cars shown are only a fraction of what the museum has, and all most vehicles are in pristine and working condition (they have 7 full time mechanics working on site) . Ask the very friendly guides and will tell you more about it. Mustang all eras, early bentleys, very first Ford Ts, BMW hangar .

When in the Cape or Cape Province, and you have the time to go to the Franschoek and make a point to visit this gem. For any car enthusiast, this place is remarkable and a must visit. The chances that you will see the same car within 6 months is very slim due to the amount of changes they make and rotating the cars on a regular basis.

What truly impressed us was the huge variety of cars on display. The collection is diverse and well-curated, providing a captivating journey through automotive history. The fact that they switch out cars every few months keeps the experience fresh and ensures there's always something new to discover.
Kudos to The Franschhoek Motor Museum for making our visit memorable. Highly recommended for any car enthusiast or anyone looking to kick off a special journey with a touch of automotive elegance!

After the induction we took a 20 to 30 minute trip up into the mountain to the start of the zipline course.
The quality of the equipment that is used/being used is top class and you can see that the rigs and platforms are kept in good condition.
The ziplining is really good fun and was enjoyed thoroughly by all.

Gummy and the team are the best man! 2nd time here and never a dull moment with the guides. Great fun! 10/10 would recommend!

Really enjoyed this experience. Small group, experienced guides. Amazing views, things you could otherwise never see like waterfalls and ravines. Clinging to the rock face, the platforms are quite a feat to put together.

Recently had a thoroughly enjoyable experience here. The facilities and equipment are well maintained and the staff are friendly and welcoming. Our guides were truly amazing and took great care of us. I would absolutely recommend the experience to anyone brave enough. The views you get to experience are amazing and definitely well worth the cost.

What an amazing experience for all ages. We had so much fun and did this with a friend with cancer that wanted to tick this off her bucket list!!!
Weather was brilliant and we went on a sunday.
Take a light jacket with as it gets cold in the mountains something we did not think about.
If you wear glasses make sure to have a neck band so it can't fall if it does no way of getting it back.
In our group we met 2 Americans an Irish couple and they were stuck with 5 crazy south Africans. 😜
The tour guides was great and brilliant with kids ...and scared adults too... 11 zip lines and a bridge over troubled waters as we named it.
Do yourself a favor and GO!
Its worth it!!!!
Thank you guys at cape canopy Grabouw!!!!

This is the 3rd time I have done the Zipline in the Hottentot Mountains and it just gets better each time. The staff are friendly, helpful, fun and very strict with safety rules. Adrenaline levels are high and the views are spectacular!!
If you haven't done this activity, DO IT.
The most spectacular surroundings and the most friendliest and knowledgable staff. 11x well-maintained ziplines in the heart of the most beautiful setting.
The gear is in a very good state and at no point did I feel unsafe.
There is a 1km walk back to the pick-up point omce ylu have experienced all the ziplines. There is wifi onsite, toilets and a coffee/snack bar (no cash, card payments only).
10/10 - highly recommend!!

My second visit this year, this time for free because it was my birthday. Took my brother-in-law with.
Enjoyed it even more than the first time. Again, the guides were brilliant, funny, supportive, and very professional.
My brother-in-law is also planning on going again.

Dieu Donné Vineyards Cellar & Tasting Room is a beautiful spot to enjoy wine and views of the Franschhoek Valley. The Cellar offers tastings of award-winning wines, while the Tasting Room has a 360 degree view that is sure to please. Roca Restaurant on the premises offers delicious Mediterranean dishes and spectacular views.
Stunning views from Dieu Donne Vineyards. I don't drink alcohol but drinking in these views make me heady and super happy. My wine loving group enjoyed the wine tasting and bought lots of wine. The restaurant was closed for renovation.

Well worth a visit. Most beautiful views from above the valley with a pleasant breeze on a hot summer day. The sharing platter was generous and the wines delicious. Xavier was a perfect host. Attentive yet relaxed and just enough detail on the wines.

Amazing location a little off the beaten track but still close to the Center. The wine tasting was great, the view was even better.
Prices reasonable!
We also ordered a big pizza to share from the place next to it and could enjoy it at the same venue. So cool! Staff was nice as well :)

We tried two different wine tasting options. The wine wasn't particularly to our taste unfortunately. The service was okay. We also ordered a charcuterie board which was nice. I wouldn't go back but the view is truly lovely. The wine and chocolate paring was the better of the two options we tasted.

Went here with the city sightseeing Franschhoek wine tram tour. Service was great and we had an amazing experience. The charcuterie board was rich and so worth the price, and even though it was a cold rainy day, we enjoyed everything.
The wine portion was generous 😊 with the snacks. Loved it!

The Dieu Donné Vineyards Cellar & Tasting Room is a spot that is best described with superlatives. It's definitely one of the best locations for a wine tasting experience. Situated at the very top of Franschhoek, just a little lower than the tree line in the mountains right behind it, it has endless views of the valley below. On a clear day, they extend just as far as the eye can see. This remoteness is part of its appeal. It keeps big crowds away. Sitting on the terrace and sipping a glass of wine will be an experience that I will remember for a long time to come.

My partner and I were recommended this restaurant whilst on holiday here in SA and WOW! What an experience.
Beautiful food. Big portion sizes. The most stunning views. Waiters and waitresses paid attention to detail in every aspect and we felt so well looked after. The little touches make all the difference. Thank you to everyone, we absolutely loved it here! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!!

I had the privilege to photograph a Wedding Celebration in April 2022 at Dieu Donné and was blown away by the beauty of this venue and the landscapes surrounding the restaurant. This is the perfect option for a more intimate / smaller scale wedding providing you with a cosy indoor set-up and a fire place for winter celebrations. Although there is no onsite accommodation, a vast array of gorgeous options are available in close proximity to the venue. The staff were friendly, helpful and went the extra mile to make the celebration special. This venue also provides the perfect backdrop for the mountain loving couple! I can highly recommend this to anyone considering to host their wedding in Franschhoek.

The Franschhoek Pass is a scenic drive and mountain pass with lookout points and views of mountains and valleys. The pass stretches for at least 13km from corner to corner, providing beautiful views of the valley below. The MCC restaurant on the pass serves excellent food, which is well prepared and professionaly served.
Beautiful place to see.The view from Franshoek Pass is absolutely breath taking. My wife and me were amazed by it.we had a lunch at MCC,it was superb, very well prepared and professionaly served.Job well done at MCC.Definately the place to be.

If you're on your way to Franschhoek and have the time, take this mountain pass to town. The road is gorgeous and not difficult to drive. You will be rewarded with beautiful panoramas of rocks, mountains, ravines and more. If you're so inclined, you can also hike a trail that is easy to find. The entrance to Franschhoek from the pass is very dramatic. Stop for a few minutes and take a few pix!

This is a beautiful drive that one should definitely do on a sunny day to be able to appreciate its beauty to the fullest! I would recommend driving with caution as there are many turns, trucks and an occasional cyclist on the road.
Catherine Africa — Google review
Having not driven the Franschhoek Pass in a long time I immediately grabbed the opportunity when it came up. The pass is about 13 km (give or take) and is slow and winding. Although the driver needs to focus a lot on this route, there are some areas where you can pull over and take in the beautiful views which make it worthwhile. On the one side of the pass you have the town of Franschhoek with the pass looking over it in certain sections, and on the other side you have Theewaterskloof dam which is the largest dam providing water to the City of Cape Town and surrounds. The pass can get very busy and has been closed on numerous occasions in the past because of rock slides, so keep that in mind when planning your trip. Also, something to note is that during winter when it is really cold, the surrounding mountains can be covered in snow which is always special to see.
Dewald Reinke — Google review
The views are stunning. We drove the pass yesterday. It was very misty.

Road closures - we couldn't get through to Franschhoek. First had to detour from Villiersdorp then had another road closure and had to go to Grabouw via R321. Still had a beautiful scenic route though!!

The best mountain pass in South Africa. Heaven on earth for keen drivers, but beware the treacherous drops and steep turns. Rather take it slowly and enjoy the spectacular views. There are many excellent viewpoints to stop at along the route. Superbly smooth surface and in excellent condition.
This picturesque hiking route runs along the edge of a nature reserve and offers breathtaking vistas of the sea as well as opportunities to spot various forms of aquatic creatures. The Cliff Path is an ideal spot for nature lovers seeking a scenic and peaceful stroll in the great outdoors. With its stunning ocean views, this trail is sure to delight those who appreciate the beauty of nature.
Fernkloof Nature Reserve is a diverse botanical reserve that offers captivating hiking paths, landscaped gardens and awe-inspiring views of Walker Bay. The garden exudes an enchanting ambiance with occasional sightings of small tortoises. There is also a small nursery and a picnicking area complete with tables and ablution blocks for convenience. Visitors can enjoy the stunningly beautiful views en route to Galpin Overnight Hut, although the last 60 meters may prove challenging.
Stunningly beautiful views en route to and from Galpin Overnight Hut. Last 60 m were rather grueling on my tired legs but well worth the challenge. Such a peaceful, special experience. Fernkloof Nature Reserve is a beautiful and diverse nature reserve located in the Western Cape region of South Africa. The reserve covers over 1,800 hectares of land and offers visitors a chance to explore a wide range of natural habitats, from forests to fynbos.
One of the standout features of Fernkloof is its incredible array of plant life. The reserve is home to over 1,400 species of plants, including many rare and endemic species. This makes it a popular destination for botanists and nature enthusiasts who want to see the unique flora of the region.
In addition to its plant life, Fernkloof is also home to a variety of bird and animal species, including baboons, dassies, and porcupines. There are numerous hiking trails throughout the reserve that allow visitors to explore its many different landscapes and ecosystems.
Overall, Fernkloof Nature Reserve is a must-visit destination for anyone who loves nature and wants to experience the beauty and diversity of South Africa's Western Cape region.

Lovely little nature reserve with a couple of well marked hiking routes. The trails are not too difficult and anyone with reasonable fitness can hike the trails. Most trails have some nice views of Hermanus and the sea. Baboons are active in the area, but we didn’t see any. We did see some rangers chasing the baboons. The trails are also suited for trail running.

The walking trails are so picturesque! Also love the garden - it feels so magical. There is also a small nursery and a picnick area with tables and ablution blocks. You can also see a couple of small tortoises roaming around sometimes. The only thing I can recommend to do better is that the trails should be marked a bit more along the route - we got a little lost.

🌸🪻🪷🌺🌿Stepping into the heavenly embrace of Fernkloof Nature Reserve. Shaded pathways, medicinal plants, aloe gardens, proteas high overhead and mountains looming above...are just some of the wonders you will find here. And, tortoises, lots of tortoise which had Wolfie very curious (see pic, and spot the 2 🐢 of which he only saw 1 😁🤦🏻♀️).
🐕🦺Although abundant in flora and forna (including small buck), Fernkloof Nature Reserve & Gardens are dog friendly! But make sure your dog is firmly on lead; and it goes without saying that you must clean up after your furkid(s), but note that there is a sign on entry stating that there are no bins on the premises, and to take your rubbish with you...which keeps the Reserve clean...smart.
What a wonderful experience, to be repeated over and over. A piece of heaven on earth 😍

Took an impulsive drive up the mountain behind Hermanus into Fernkloof nature reserve. What a fun idea! Well maintained tarred road to a point and then gravel/sand. Stunning views of the town and bay. Some inviting well-positioned benches make for a good lunch spot. And wonderfully .... I saw several whales breaching in the ocean, being high up makes them so easy to spot. I was delighted. And did I say views for days....yes!! Very worth while...

One of the best nature reserves open to the public. There are many trails to choose from, ranging from beginner to expert.
There is ample parking available, with security guards on duty. The also have rangers who are there to hike with you if you want.
The trails are quite open to the elements, there is not much tree or shade cover. So remember your sunscreen, and windbreaker.
Voëlklip Beach is a well-liked destination for surfing enthusiasts and offers ample space for dogs to roam around. It also boasts lush green lawns that are perfect for picnics, as well as clean and modern showers to rinse off after swimming. I've been visiting Hermanus and spending hours on end at Voëlklip Beach since the age of one. I'm 43 years old now so clearly this spot holds a special distinction for me. I love that over the years this beach has always remained free of any restaurants or bars on its perimeter. The grass-covered hill at the top of the beach provides a great place to sunbathe and relax, although there are also plenty of white sand options further down for those who prefer that.
A word of caution though: like all of Hermanus' beaches the water can get very cold. This past holiday there were two days where the lifeguards' temperature reading was 9oC! The sea can also get really rough so if you're heading there with the kids, you may want to keep an eye on them.

Gets packed during peak season, so go early. But out of season it is a really nice beach for adults with kids. Lit quieter than Grotto
Grotto Beach, a Blue Flag beach, boasts a vast sandy expanse with stunning mountain vistas and a lagoon. It is renowned for seasonal whale sightings. The beach offers ample parking space, large beach area, public toilets, braai/picnic areas and two restaurants/snack venues. A cave system and walking trail add to its allure. Though parking during peak season can be challenging, the well-serviced mobile coffee and ice cream stalls make up for it.
Definitely a blue flag beach. Ample parking, large beach area, 2 restaurants and snack venues, public toilets and a braai / picnic area.
Not to mention caves and a trail you can walk. There is plenty of parking, but it can be difficult during summer and holidays.

Pristine beach. Amazing fun for families. Beach access is free. You can rent umbrella and chairs, or bring your own. I recommend taking along your own if possible, as the guys co-ordinating this seem to be running some sort of racket- different rates for different guests, no receipts etc. One was quite rude to us, bordering on harassment, which almost spoilt our visit. Aside from this, a lovely beach worth visiting.

A Lovely long flat stretch of beach. The sunsets are beautiful there. There are ablutions, a coffee van, ice cream and kiosks. Small play area for the kids. Life guards are on duty in season. There is plenty of parking BUT during the summer holidays it can be difficult to find parking and you might have to walk a long distance to where the swimming beach area is.
It was a lovely experience. Stunning scenery and very healthy happy horses. The horses were also well paired to riders suited from absolute beginners to advanced skill level. The owners and facilitators were very friendly and gave good briefing for beginners and a nice introduction of each rider to their horse. As an extreme novice I felt comfortable and thoroughly enjoyed the outride. Will definitely be back and do recommend Horse About Trails.

Jo and John are superb hosts of this fantastic horse outride experience. John (on Tequila) was patient, informative and very attentive of our capabilities. My daughters (aged 9) and I went on the Witzenberg trail which had a fun section through water, a roudy Troup of baboons and a Blue Crane mating pair. The girls have some riding experience so we could trot for awhile too. Very excited to come back in Deceber for another ride, perhaps ready for the Canter! Our family of two adults and two teens spent four memorable days on the river with Jason and his very professional and friendly support team. Our boat was guided by Nkosi, whose river experience put all of us at ease even in the hairier moments through the rapids. Please visit and support Panthera! It's absolutely amazing what the volunteers and owners are doing here. The educational work is a real eye opener. We were guided through the area by 2 volunteers in a small group. We learned a lot and all questions were answered. The big cats looked very well, have large enclosures and feel very comfortable. We adopted 2 lionesses right away because we want to support this great work. Thank you Panthera for this amazing experience

It was absolutely beautiful to see that the people take such good care off big cats. They live on a big property and look healthy. A wonderful charity with staff who obviously care deeply about the cats they are looking after.
That said, as an experience for kids it can be a little hit and miss, and on the day that we were there (pretty warm) the cats themselves were very very scarce, and we didn't get to see much at all.
I totally understand that this is 100% their approach, but I wouldn't choose to go back without checking that the conditions are right to actually see a bit more of the animals.

Highly recommend visiting Panthera! We went as a a group of two families with kids age 7-13 years. We all learnt so much and were thoroughly engaged in the tour and the information given by Brenton, our guide.
We all now know that not all big cat sanctuaries are what they seem and for this reason, it’s so worth visiting and supporting Panthera to learn more and see some truly beautiful big cats.

Such a deep respect for this sanctuary. They have structured their tour to accomodate the needs of the Big Cats in their care. Overall a fantastic and educational experience
Kelly Rosslee — Google review
As an animal rescuer and lover, I was surprised to find a place worthy of the name 'sanctuary'.
The needs of the cats come first here, which means you may see the animals, you may not. The staff answers any question with knowledge (and the truth). The animals all have their own stories, and that is very clearly respected.
10/10!

What an amazing experience. Joe was incredibly knowledgeable and you could tell everyone involved in Panthera are passionate about caring for the big cats and ensuring they get the outcome and life they deserve. Highly recommend

A gentle, kind place with close-up encounters with these beautiful wild animals - always with the animals coming first. Heart-warming to discover Panthera's vision of protecting animals that have been abused by unkind or unthinking contact with humans.
We spent a wonderful couple of hours on the tour and chatting to the very knowledgable guide. A great place to take kids and great for adults too.

A true sanctuary. Loved every second of the tour. It was very informative and beautiful to hear the history and stories behind the place. Really made me look at the places that keep animals differently. You can tell Panthera is all about the cats and the cats also look well taken care of. And Tynika, our guide was fantastic 👌🏾

Beautiful animals, close encounters and a great mission. A visit is highly recommended for fans of big cats.
Hiked to waterfall and to cave to see the Khoi San paintings. Loved it. Easy 2 hyrs hike. Dirt Roads are a bit tricky but we managed in my Toyota Auris.

Good signs to drive to the start. The trails are also marked and a map is provided. We really enjoyed the experience, beautiful vista, rock formations, colourful fynbos, birds and, after a short but steep climb, a cave with ancient rock art. When the rainfall is better there is a waterfall and small pools as the stream meanders down the valley. There is a picnic spot under the trees which provided a shady spot to relax.

Fantastic trails to suit all levels of fitness, stunning views, interesting rock formations and a cave with rock art, what a great hike! We were lucky enough to see a couple of Klipspringers and enjoyed watching the baboons. We visited the week before they closed to day visitors (unless you book a guided tour) but would definitely return and stay.

Fantastic place. On the doorstep to a few lovely well kept trails.
Incredible fire place that heated up the whole cottage and kept us warm at night.
The star gazing on a clear night is something else! Will definitely be back, thank you Chris.

We came only for the hiking, but the trails are in great shape and the views are great. We loved being able to see the rock art, especially! We appreciate that it is possible for people to come take the trails even if they aren’t staying in the accommodations there. The fee was quite reasonable.

From the natural pool built into a pond to the extensive hiking trails, this place will not disappoint.

I only did the hike. They are very specific about not starting before 8 am which is a little irritating when it comes to hiking. I wish they could build a separate entrance for day visitors in the morning that could get going early without disturbing their guests. They are so specific about it perhaps they could come up with an alternative instead of fighting what comes naturally.

Such a spectacular location for day hikes and accomodation. Pristine fynbos and gorgeous mountain views
Tabby Robertshaw — Google review
It is beautiful there. I took spectacular photos of landscapes and plants. However I wish there were more dish cloths and toilet paper. It is required that one does not leave dirty dishes, but then enough dish cloths must be provided. One dirty-coloured dish cloth is simply not enough.
Had the most amazing time, hot weather , the pool was great, service good and room was clean and tidy. Enjoyed the Casino later the evening and watched the Stormers match the Saturday at the casino pub.The Sun Valley Lodge and Casino surrounded by beautiful nature and mountains. Late afternoon Enjoyed the nature trail and watched the moon rise from behind the mountains. We back in May and trust to enjoy it just as much.

Bathroom had mold and towels were not the quality I'm used to. Bed is VERY uncomfortable if you have a laptop and are sitting. Questionable stains on carpet. Cabinet the fridge is in was in a state of disrepair and hanging off by 1 hinge. Decor is outdated. The TV however is bigger than other hotels I've stayed in and close enough you don't have to strain to watch it from in bed. Not the best hotel in the area and I won't stay there again to be honest.

Loved staying at this hotel for many many years. However this weekend was such a disappointment the hotel room was not up too standard the bed look like someone just slept in it the presentation was very poor. We struggled to get hold of room service and the vending machine was out of order and couldn't get beverages or snacks after hours. A suggestion for the Casino regarding the closing time maybe they could have extended hours for the people staying in the hotel or make the casino 24hours. On a positive note the food was very nice. Thanks

If you're just looking for a getaway for some quiet time, this is probably it. There are some kids activities like a little play area when it's functioning and then a pool. I'd personally invest more in the entertainment side for all non-gamblers as it'd be a once-off investment for the most part. The rooms need some refreshing and refinement too. For the gamblers though, this is perfect for the price.
Darryn Cerfontyne — Google review
The wait was quite long at the bar even though it was dead quiet. On top of this half of the machines were either out of order or "reserved" by other players who just leave their cards in the slot machines, a practice i believe should be prohibited.
Zak Henning — Google review
Unfortunately în the past years everything went down. The rooms are no longer perfect like the used to be, they need a good revamp. The staff needs training in hospitality and the restaurant needs new management and to stay open at least when the lodge is almost fully booked and you have nowhere to go for dinner except is you want to picnic in the restaurant eating the takeaway ordered from their own kitchen which I found very weird
Florian Nita — Google review
1. The hospitality from the check in point was almost as if we weren’t welcome, and did not want to assist.
2. The staff will talk about you right while you are there, making it blatantly obvious that they’re talking about you.
3. Asking the breakfast manager, if our stay has breakfast included, the lady checked the room number, marks it off and says “yes, and if you’d like any eggs, just call me” - so based on this we’d sit down and start having breakfast. As we’re mid through our breakfast, she’d come to the table to say “I’m sorry, I’ve made a mistake, breakfast is not include, you would have to pay” - now on the basis of okay she made a mistake, I walked over to the desk with her, and she told me it will be R405, considering we just not even a plate of a proper breakfast. - Asked to speak to the manager m, and the manager walks around with not a car in the work, we’re the only people sitting there in the reception area, she walks past and says “I’ll be with you now, I’m just busy” but goes to the front room and starts having a whole conversation, she must’ve thought that we could not understand Afrikaans lol. When we raised the case eventually to her, we asked her name and for the restaurant managers name, to which she refused to give any of their names. To which we will be taking the matter further as your hospitality made it as if you did not want us there.
Would not recommend the Golden Valley Lodge with a front desk manager like that.

Very bad experience at the casino on Saturday the 25th of June. I was walking in smoking section, just checking out the machines and not really looking or concentrating on any people. I was vaping and accidently blew my smoke in an old mans face, not even knowing that i did it because as i said i was not concentrating on the people. The following moment i was hit in the middle of back so hard my whole body went forward. I had a huge fright and my first thought is that maybe it is someone i knew but as i turned around this old man was in my face screaming, because i by accident blew my smoke in his face. Not giving me a chance to speak or apologize. I went to security and they checked the footage, confirming my whole story of what happened. This is where i was very disappointed. They only wanted to give him a warning, what good does that do. The lady, manager of security, was going to speak to her manager and get back to me, but that never happened. It is totally unacceptable for a man to hit a woman, and this is exactly what happened here and nothing happened to him. I will never visit again as i was so upset by the whole thing.....

We had a great experience last week. Thank you Dylan for your outstanding service with the surprise in our room for my friends birthday! You are amazing. Carpet was dirty in our room and the wood rotten under the fridge with the door of the fridge cupboard missing. Other than that room was nice, and well located. Would be nice to be able to lock the door facing casino, from the outside as well. Breakfast was dissapointing. Your chance of winning in the Casino is ten times better than Grand West, what a pleasure!

Waste of money.
No teaspoons in room or at breakfast. Drinks and food come from casino and take about 40 minutes per order and cost R30 per order. Pool dirty, bath water brown, only sabc, etv and 2movie channels, staff attitude stinks. Nothing to do for kids as game centre closed. No shuttle or seperate entrance to Resturant. Service in Resturant non-existant only one waitress, drinks, food, dessert and even just menu took forever. A very limited drinks menu. I was wondering why other guests were talking about getting KFC and going to bottlestore... now I understand.
The room was ok and food too but the entire lodge and service needs an overhaul.
I honestly wish I never went there I literally threw my money away. A relaxing overnight stay became a nightmare.

Located on the outskirts of Worcester, near Cape Town, the Karoo Desert National Botanical Garden is nestled at the base of the Hex River Mountains. It boasts a diverse collection of native succulents and plants, making it an ideal spot to explore and learn about the region's ecology. The garden offers hiking trails of varying lengths and difficulty levels, as well as picnic areas for visitors to relax and enjoy nature.
Great hiking trials, we enjoyed the view of the town and all the plants. Only bad thing, we were there on a Monday, and it was 37 degrees after the walk, but we were told the restaurant was close. Otherwize a must visit for those who love the Karoo. ☀️🌡️
Lourens Esterhuyse — Google review
Absolutely beautiful gardens just outside Worcester. There is a nice hiking trail we did followed by a walk through the gardens. Afterwards had a nice beer and something to eat at the restaurant.
Werner Dalziel — Google review
Beautiful and well-maintaned gardens with fantastic views of the mountains. The garden is filled with a wide range of succulents and aloes.
The botanical gardens offer a nursery where you can purchase plants, a picnic spot, a restaurant and a series of hikes. There are three trails you can do: a 1km, 3.4km and 4.7km.
The staff are very knowledgeable and friendly. The price per adult is R55 - however, if you only intend to visit the restaurant, you can enter for free, but must show your restaurant receipt upon exit.

I love the beauty of the Karoo.
A variety of trails are on offer, some as long a 4km.
A short brail trail, perhaps a total 100m in length, is a good addition to the gardens.
Information boards are located along the trails.
We saw many cute little tortoises.
Pack a hat and sun screen.
Shaun Parsons — Google review
The weather was terrible when we visited the Karoo Botanical Garden and as a result, it didn’t live up to the wonderful reputation that it has.
Certainly, this place deserves a visit during appropriate weather.
Note: there is a steep entrance fee of R50 ($2.59) per person.
There’s ample parking and the area is well-marked.
It’s much more of an outdoor area to visit so ensure the weather is suited before you go.

It's a peaceful, tranquil, and very well-kept garden, including possibilities for hiking by offering different trails of different lengths and challenges.A very modest fee provides you with a leaflet showing the layout and the walks.
Going there on a sunny day at the beginning of August, we had the place nearly to our own, sharing it mainly with birds to our delight! A wonderful place.

What a lovely place. We walked around the botanical garden as there is a lot of paths to follow. There is a lot of beautiful plants and flowers to see. The restaurant was closed, but we want to do some of the hiking trials in the future. Will visit again.

One of the smaller National Botanical Gardens, but still well worth the visit. The gardens themselves were well kept, and the variety of flora was amazing. Would recommend going in winter when the plants are in bloom. They also have three hiking trails of varying length and difficulty for you to enjoy.

The Karoo Desert National Botanical Garden is a lovely place to visit to hike and see plenty of nature. The garden is home to a wide variety of succulents and other plants that are native, and it is a great place to learn about the unique ecology of this region.
The garden is also a beautiful place to simply relax and enjoy the outdoors. There are many hiking trails that wind through the garden, and there are also picnic areas. It’s very inexpensive to visit, and is a nice place to spend a few hours exploring.

Behold, a paradise awaits. This mountain is absolutely breathtaking with so many hiking routes to offer. My personal favourite is the route that heads into the crevice of the mountain, keep going and it will lead you to a rock pool, swim through that pool and you arrive at a hidden waterfall, there's even a ladder there that allows you to to a small cliff jump. Beware though, the water is freezing!

Nestled in Ceres, the Matroosberg Nature Reserve offers a range of activities for outdoor enthusiasts. In winter, the reserve transforms into a snowy wonderland, perfect for skiing, snowboarding, and ice climbing. Other seasonal activities include cherry picking, abseiling, hiking, and mountain biking. The vast reserve features hiking trails that lead to breathtaking views and challenging 4x4 tracks (currently closed due to rain damage).
So much to do. 4x4 track is an awesome challenge and the bass dam is fun! Great farm and loads to do
Monty Montanari — Google review
We went as a big group of 50 for a weekend of hiking. The reserve is massive. There is a trail up to the top which takes around 3.5 hours one way. From there it is possible to continue to the summit with another 2 hours walk. There is a very challenging 4x4 track which meets the walking trail at the top but is closed due to rain damage. On the way you see multiple waterfalls and streams especially after rains. It is worth hiking all the way for the views. If you are lucky you may get some snow on top. The trail is quite dangerous due to stream crossings and slippery paths so best done in a group. The accommodation huts are good. Food at the restaurant is also quite good but the order takes long if there are too many people. The roads inside are all gravel roads which can be tackled with a small car but must be very careful.

Loved my 1st trip to Matroosberg, will definitely not be my last. Lovely way to relax, without a tv but still enough luxuries to be comfy, e.g. electric blankets, awesome fireplace, oven and microwave, etc. The venue also has a heated indoor pool (35 degrees) and putt putt.

Even though the weather man predicted a good chance of snow, we unfortunately did not get to physically touch the snow. Only experienced the snow capped mountains, but nevertheless the experience, the hike, the spectacular views, the cold, the hospitality, the first time chancing... taking out our own 4x4 and getting down n dirty... Or should I say muddy!😁 Was all well worth it! Thank you Matroosberg, Thank you Hannelie🙏 for the warm welcome! Justin....apologies don't know your surname bud...But A Big Thank U for pulling us out of the bogged embankment we slid into with our Landy which we could not get out of without your Awesome Looking Jeep and it's high torqued winch's help! Just amazing! The reserve includes the highest peak in the Boland at 2250m which sees lots of snow in the winter. ❄🏔
Lots of adventures to be had in all seasons. Lots of accommodation options to choose from as well.
Pre bookings essential now with the pandemic, for day visitors as well.
The 4 x 4 route is technical but rideable. The route might need some management though as you can go up but is supposed to only come down after a certain time. The route is very challenging if you are the first vehicle on virgin snow, please beware.
Erick Oosthuizen — Google review
Loads of snow atop the mountainous region but something can (should) be done to get to the snow...one has to cross multiple streams to get close to the snow atop the mountains but some areas to cross present a high risk to visitors...we experienced an elderly lady who had her foot stuck between the rocks and kids who almost fell into the water due to the slippery rocks...surely a bridge can be built close to the parking lot at the campsite so that visitors can cross the stream unharmed and uninjured...such beautiful scenery but dampened by these risky parts to get to the snow ❄ 😬 And it takes a lot of walking to get to the snow and wished we were informed ahead...some visitors were not able to get to the snow areas due to their fitness levels...not a great experience overall unless there's a complete review of the place and they put measures in place to improve...

This is a very unique place in the sense that you can find snow here in the winters in South Africa. Snow can be found at the top of the mountains, but not very common to touch it and feel it in South Africa. The walk to the spot where snow can be found abundantly isn't a very difficult one and you can even drive your 4x4 there as well.
Parking can be a bit of nightmare after paying the entrance fees and driving for about 3 km on a gravel road, but not impossible as long as you are willing to prak on the grass.
So, this is a very pleasant, family friendly, unique spot to visit on a weekend and very much recommended.

Brilliant, our first time driving out to see the snow, what an awesome experience! Kiosk a little primitive, but who cares, we came for nature, and we had a lovely time driving on muddy jeep tracks through rivers and playing in the snow! We popped in for a wine tasting at Springfield while visiting Robertson on a recommendation from our host. I sincerely appreciated the fact that there were as many white wines for me to try as my husband had reds! We have never completed a wine tasting where we enjoyed almost every wine we tasted to such a point that we would purchase the wines, but Springfield is not like other wine farms! We ended up walking away with a purchase of 7 different wines!
Wine tasting is served with complimentary olives which happened to also be one of the best we've ever tasted!
Customer service was exemplary!

This was our favourite wine farm we visited over the Easter weekend. Dog friendly, too. It was awesome to sit next to the dam and have a tasting at our own pace and in private as a personal preference. That being said, we did notice that the farm neglected to cater for the demand over the weekend and we’re understaffed. Understandably, the staff that were present were visibly distressed and impatient/agitated.

Not to long ago, wine tasting in this valley was free. It changed and I understand this. I have been to Springfield several times in the past and I have never been disappointed. I will always recommend them as a great option. Until today. I state again, I don’t mind paying for a wine tasting but today: the wines were served, glasses plonked before us. Not a single word about the wine was said, no introduction to the farm or anything! After we have tasted the 5 wines and were almost leaving, a lady doing the tastings come to our table and asked how far we were with our tasting. Since we were done, she did not say anything . No apology for not showing up, she did not even try to make up by telling us about the farm… no effort.
Although I have been there before, for 4 of our party, it were their first time visit and they will surely not bring their friends here. On a Saturday in summer, surely you need more than one person to do the tastings ?
It’s a pity. Such a beautiful place and great wines. But I doubt that I will be back for a visit. Rather order online and visit some of the other farms where we had lovely tastings, like Rietvallei and Zandvliet

Lovely wine farm with an excellent selection of wines, great service and an absolutely stunning venue. The red wines are good, their selection of whites is phenomenal. Highly recommended.

Scenic views and incredible wines paired with complementary olives. The wine presentation was spectacular. Thank you for a wonderful experience! Don't leave the Estate without purchasing a bottle of Thunderchild, 100% of the grapes for this blend are grown on the orphanage’s grounds and 100% of the profit is donated to the children. A compelling initiative.

These wines are out of this world. Fabulous service to pair. Highly recommend!!!

Simply fantastic!! An amazing reflection of the quality of wines one can expect from the Robertson Valley. Soft juicy tannins on the reds, delivering exceptional structure and taste or ‘mouthfeel’ in every sip. While the whites deserve a standing ovation - in my opinion at least.
Amazing food wines for the foodies, Miss Lucy begs for seafood, while the Albariño is just mouthwateringly delicious, my wow-factor indeed! The olives deserve a mention too that are served during the tasting 🤤
The farm has a lovely authentic feel while the tasting room staff are friendly, knowledgeable and accommodating.

Exceptional wines! Sadly the service was not the best and with such excellent wines it would have been nice to have a proper tasting, explaining each wine, to do it justice but we just ordered and werr left to our own after a long wait. Either way, the wines blew my mind and we bought several bottles, it is certainly worth a visit.

Our experience at Springfield Estate was exceptional!
The wine tasting was amazing, we were attended by Deneen. Her expertise and friendliness elevated the visit, making it truly memorable.
Beyond the excellent wine tasting, the venue is stunning, offering a pleasant atmosphere and a stunning view of the vineyards while relaxing inside the tasting room. The perfect combination for a memorable experience.
I highly recommend it to anyone seeking a high-quality wine experience.

Interestingly they not part of platters, but theres wines do not disappoint!
The whites are notoriously special. I would also check out their reds. The thunder rock wine is also special as they allocate proceeds to the children’s home.
PS: Complimentary 🫒 olives are amazing!

What an absolute gem! Love the wines & having now done the tasting, we love them even more.
A must visit in South Africa's must visit little town!

Relaxed and peaceful atmosphere. Staff is very very friendly. The wine is stunning. Thunderchild is a wine that they sell to raise funds for the local Children's Home. That is a great initiative.

Fantastic winery with beautiful staff and fine wines, especially the "Miss Lucy" 😘🇿🇦❤️

The estate accommodated us for a wine cellar tour, and it was the best part of the whole day.
They have wonderful wine and we bought a few bottles to take home.
Wine tasting can be enjoyed on the grass with deck chairs. Tastings are generous.
Their Life from stone is the most famous wine. The same family run the estate for generations.

Viljoensdrift in Robertson is a popular weekend destination offering a delightful experience. Visitors can create their own picnic from the well-stocked deli, purchase wine from the cellar door, and enjoy an hour-long boat trip along the scenic Breede River. It's advisable to book in advance as the afternoon slots tend to fill up quickly. The estate exudes tranquility while also being lively, especially during summer. Wine enthusiasts can indulge in tastings while waiting for their river cruise.
Make the trip out and make sure to book the river cruise
We shopped in the wonderful deli before setting sail so we were able to enjoy a picnic during our cruise, along with wonderful wine from the estate
Our skipper was amazing and made sure we were comfortable and safe at all times

Boat cruise - 10/10
Picnic basket - 10/10
Wine tasting - 3/10 (the wine was not nice, the staff didn't seem to know what was going on. Couldn't give an accurate discription of the wines).
The tasting and picnic area inside is not ideal as the tables are so close together, the same thing outside.
Would just do the cruise next time.

We booked a cruise on the Breede River and it was a really pleasant and relaxing experience.
You can buy some food from their Deli and take it on the river cruise.
We also bought some of their wine - really good wines.
Highly recommended!

27 August 2022. We booked for the 1pm slot . The afternoon slots seems to be very popular times as the 2pm slot was fully booked a week in advance. Viljoensdrift is a beautiful place. Peaceful and yet vibrant and I am sure gets hectically busy in summer. The deli is well stocked and for those who like a glass of wine, their range of wines looked impressive. They have wine tasting as well and that seemed quite popular especially if waiting for your time to go on the river. Their meals are well prepared and tasty. The river cruise is fantastic especially if you want to celebrate with a picnic (baskets of which you can fill up at the deli prior to your cruise). All in all a good experience and well worth the drive from Cape Town.

The restaurant is delightful with a good variety of tasty foods. A step inside to pay, so if you are a wheelchair user like myself have a friend assist. Marius who manages the boat trip was awesome & went out if his way to assist me in my motorized wheelchair 👩🦼. Google Maps takes you on a wild goose chase, so look out for an entrance with gables & signage.

Went on the river cruise on the Bree river about 50 mins. Took picnic and wine bought at the deli. Food and wine great, cruise really serene. However people who went on the cruise were dumping their papers in the water. All in all a lovely, entertaining cruise.

The river cruise was an awesome experience. Definitely worth it 👌🏻. The deli is well stocked with snacks and drinks to make up a mini picnic to take on the cruise.

I highly recommend the boat ride. The price is good, the views are lovely, the options for the picnic basket are tasty and varied. The staff are all friendly and quick. The only thing was that the wine is nothing special. The muskarpino is delicious and refreshing on a hot summer day, but I wouldn't buy a bottle of any of the others we tasted.

We went for the boat cruise and what a calming, relaxing and amazing experience. The wine was also amazing!

The boat ride on the river was really enjoyable. However we wanted to do a wine tasting but because the staff member in that area was surly and unpleasant when we bought a few items to take with us on the river we decided to go elsewhere, not wanting to engage with her any further. Sadly we did not get to taste any wines from this vineyard 😔. We have visited 76 vineyards in the Western Cape and this is the first one we've experienced such unfriendliness 😬!

One of the rare spots where public still has direct access to the Breede river in a beautiful setting.
A basic menu, with well prepared and reasonably priced food.
Huge potential for improving on what is already a good experience.

Good food, well prepared, and a lovely setting next to the Breeriver.
I'll be back for the Burger.
Van Loveren Family Vineyards is a charming estate located in the Robertson Valley, offering a relaxed and family-friendly wine tasting experience. The well-furnished tasting room provides 8 different tasting options, including non-alcoholic choices for families with children. Visitors can also enjoy the lovely deli and shop for various gourmet products. The estate's Christina's Bistro adds value to the experience, while its location near other wine estates makes it convenient for wine enthusiasts.
What a tranquil environment! The establishment is set in beautiful gardens with water features, huge shady trees and countless flower species. We enjoyed two paired wine tastings which were generous in serving and well priced. Customer service was friendly, knowledgeable and attentive. We highly recommend Van Loveren Wines!

One of the most beautiful places I have been to! I don't drink wine so I wouldn't know much about that but their food was great, the beauty and serenity of this place..! Work chickens scratching in the bushes.. a water stream running through the tables.. Great service.. friendly waitresses.. and their food isn't that expensive!
I will definitely go back!

Went here with a friend who had complimentary tickets for wine tasting and lunch. It was easy to get here using Google maps. From the moment we went in the staff was very sweet and friendly they smiled throughout and spoke to us in a way that made us feel like important guests 😊 Roger took us around and explained the wine process and history of the family legacy in a very calm and understandable way.
We then were presented with a list of options to choose from (wine pairing) we did and the staff went above and beyond to give us more than we asked for haha!
Moving on to lunch the food was divine, compliments to the chef! After that we were still served desert, more drinks Daryll didn't want us to leave I suspect with his outstanding hospitality 😍
Lastly the view!!! The place is very beautiful, a must see💜

Really worth the visit. Good tasting choices with pairing at an affordable rate.
We had lunch at Christinas restaurant, thanks to the chef, excellent tasting seasoned food. Bottles of wine and sparkling wines at very good prices.

My review is more on the order side of things. Our wine club ordered wine on a specia promotion. I received a confirmation of the order even before the last person made up her mind. They had no problem amending our order and adding extra items. I was kept up to date on the status of our order and the wine arrived in good time and in perfect condition. I was pleasantly surprised by their professional efficiency. Good job you guys, bottoms up! 🍷

We've been wanting to experience the Van Loveren Estate for a few years now, but, as they, there is no right time. Today, however, as we arrived at the welcoming gardens and entered the grandeur arrival hall, was just right in every aspect of what we hoped to see. After agreeing to have her photo taken, Florentina graciously took us through the Wine and cheese pairing experience. Recently appointed at front-of-house and spending her entire life on the farm, she has soooo much passion to offer and we enjoyed every bit of the wines on offer and her continous flow of energy and knowledge.
We subsequently stayed for a small lunch at Christina's Bistro, which was just as a surprise. The beautifully manicured gardens and embedded family history can be felt is every breath of the cooling breeze through those age-old trees.
A highly-recommended wine tasting and Bistro experience in the Langeberg region.

Wonderful and historic wine estate. We did the 7.5km eco trail which was beautiful although very challenging shale terrain on the 330m-odd climb. Start early as the heat is unforgiving very quickly so also take plenty of water, sunscreen and a hat - there's little that passes for shade on those slopes.
But the work is worth it. The views are breathtaking and take in the splendour of the Robertson valley.
We had to double back at just after halfway as my wife's shoes weren't up a sharp descent which would be fine with decent footwear.
The shady avenue under eucalyptus trees near the Breede River brings welcome respite from the heat of the day.
Of course, after ones labours are done there's always a credit card burn in the tasting room. In the evening you will appreciate sipping your purchases because you will have added your sweat to the terroir.

The setting amongst trees and jungle type greenery is very unique and beautiful. The staff were friendly and proactive (despite it being busy). The food we had for lunch was delicious, particularly the steak. Prices were also decent.

Great value. Beautiful venue and good service.
Wine pairings are spot on. Lovely deli and to shop olives, balsamic vinegar, nuts and far more.
Christina's Bistro adds to the value the place adds to your experience.
Well protected from the sun under huge trees that also adds to the atmosphere.
Situated within spitting distance of some stunning wine estates, you can almost walk to the next tasting. Bonnievale region is the Chardonnay heaven of the Western Cape.
Definitely, a must stop!

Great spot for a wine tasting or buy some wine. I’m guessing a big name around these parts, as there are many signs with their name on them around.
I bought three bottles at random and all three were excellent, surprisingly excellent in some cases!
Looking back I would’ve liked a tasting, there just wasn’t time. Staff was pretty helpful considering me just walking in and grabbing three bottles.

What a lovely wine farm. The gardens are amazing. Love the story behind each tree that was planted for a special event. The restaurant is situated in the garden and your lunch table is tugged away between the plants. It feels like you somewhere in a lush jungle. Love love this place. Well worth a visit. Had a wonderful time, thank you.
