The maze is quite challenging, and yet LOADS of fun. The gift shop is filled with the cutest gifts and the best snacks. Lovely vibe and attitude among the staff. Can't wait for my next visit, even though i know it will only be in a few year. A definite must-visit!

Excellent food as always. The chicken burger was large and the chip platter did not disappoint. The staff were friendly and the food came quickly fresh and hot even though it was quite busy.
The maze is currently lush and thick after all the rain. It is still as confusing as ever. Price: R 40.
There is now a large strawberry which makes a lovely landmark. It costs R50 to go inside and climb to the top.
There is also strawberry picking and they are juicy and ripe currently. Even after the initial holiday rush there were plenty of strawberries.
Other activities consist of a kids train ride. Price: R20
Bumper boats, bubble balls and go karts.

Nice place for family. There is fun for both adults and kids. But since it’s not strawberry season yet, you have really look to find ripe strawberries. The maze was fun and really challenging tbh. But be prepared for your shoes to get really muddy and wet. Wear rain boots or any appropriate shoes.

This is a nice spot to visit, esp. with your family and with your toddlers. Have a coffee break while driving the garden route or just spend some hours to relax while your kids enjoy bumper boats or have a mini train ride.

Place was easy to locate. Bathrooms very clean, that very important especially with kids. The deli has yummy fresh treats. There are a lot of fun activities for the kids. Staff are friendly too!!

Great outdoor experience with family and friends. Really enjoyed the experience and activities offered, especially the Maze was great fun. Maybe they should consider horse rides for adults too. Awesome place, I highly recommend it
Libbs — Google review
I love the concept here. The maze was super fun and it really connected everyone that played. I’d definitely recommend trying it. The surrounding scenery is beautiful and I can see how this would be a lot of fun for a family with kids. The food on the other hand is rather sub par especially at these prices, the burger was a bit dry, the chips were okay. Nothing noteworthy, a bit bland. The cheesecake was delicious though, the creme was smooth and it was the perfect balance of flavours. The chicken strips were also really nice and crispy.
The staff were super friendly, helpful and just awesome.
I’d recommend coming here at least once but I think it could get pretty boring eventually. Overall a good experience.

Redberry Farm is the best venue for small events. I would really recommend it for birthday celebrations and business meetings or breakfast.
My boys enjoyed picking up berries and having snacks. The berries are very tasty and juicy, let me not spoil it, it is best you try it yourself.
One downside with the farm is that you are not permitted to have berries while in the garden. You can only have them once done.
They the venue out and let me know what you think 🤔.

Quite a unique, enjoyable experience. So much activities to do on this farm. We only did the strawberry picking and maze. Both were such a pleasure to do. The strawberries were nice and sweet and the maze was very exciting and surprisingly difficult, but hugely enjoyable. The choices for food are really varied. Friendly and efficient service.

Great place to entertain the kids for the day.
Various activities - buy tickets at the farm stall.
The train was a winner for kids under 5, the maze offers excitement for older children as well as adults.
Various restaurants to choose from.

Wonderful day trip and experience. Good food, large portions. Very busy over holidays, locals and theirs plus holiday makers' kids. Have a 2min train ride and rabbit petting experience for kids. Bring wellieboots

Great kid friendly place, second time visiting and kids thoroughly enjoyed themselves. Wonderful range of kids activities, we especially enjoyed the train ride. Burgers were good and strawberries at the Farm stall is reasonably priced, also enjoyed the yogurts which was delicious.

This pleace is beyond beautiful. The grounds are so well kept, the grass is so green, and the flowers are so bright and colorful. We did the maze and it was so much fun! It was so nice to do something out in the fresh air, that didn't require technology. We bumped into people along the way and chatted and advised people on where to turn, but we just ended up getting one another more lost! It was really so much fun! There are 4 different restaurants on the premises and the food is so lekker! There are shops and farm stalls, it's really so nice! You can even go and pick your own strawberries!

Diverse, family friendly: food, clothes, wine, fun for the kids, deli food... whatever you need or can dream of, can be found here.
Went with my husband, his aunt and our toddler - everyone happy!

We did the strawberry picking and train ride. The train ride is very short, wish it was a bit longer for my daughter, however definitely a good experience.
We really enjoyed strawberry picking 🍓. They are so fresh!!! Service at the restaurant was average. Waiters walked passed me many times, so I searched hard and found a good waiter to avoid a bad experience.
With a great waiter at my table, all was great and downhill🫶.

Great variety of things to do for all ages.
It's not just strawberry picking. A great selection of resturants, wine tasting, beautiful free play area and then the paid activities are extremely reasonably priced.
Clean, neat and well kept, reminded me a lot of the gardens in Disneyland Paris, well done to the owners, management and all staff.
Casper le Grange — Google review
It could be better... I was managing it I would have more fantasy games like adventure trail courses. Real horse riding, not pony rides for kids. Get a bigger train and a longer railroad. All this because nobody really goes there to pick berries. So I would bank on my customers (the young and the young at heart) getting the best time of their lives.

I had the pleasure of visiting The Redberry Farm and I must say, it was an incredible experience! Here are some of the highlights of my visit:
Spectacular strawberries: The farm is home to rows upon rows of luscious, ripe strawberries. Visitors are able to pick their own, which is a fun and unique experience. The strawberries were sweet, juicy and simply delicious.
Artisan eateries: There are several on-site eateries, all of which serve delicious food made from fresh, locally sourced ingredients. I particularly enjoyed the berry smoothie and the freshly baked scones with homemade jam and cream.
Outdoor activities: There are a variety of activities available for visitors of all ages, including a hedge maze, a lake, a train ride, and a giant outdoor chess set. It's the perfect destination for families or groups of friends looking for a fun day out in the countryside.
No entrance fee: It's refreshing to find a place that doesn't charge an entrance fee. Visitors are able to pay for the activities they wish to participate in, which makes it an affordable option for everyone.
Overall, I highly recommend The Redberry Farm as a must-visit destination in Garden Route. The farm is well-maintained, the staff is friendly and helpful, and there's something for everyone to enjoy. Whether you're a foodie, an adventurer, or just looking for a relaxing day in the countryside, The Redberry Farm has got you covered.

We went on a day visit and it was really fun. We did strawberry picking and they were awesome. It's rainy 🌧 season now so pathway are wet and clay so comfortable shoes that can grip advisable. They also have many restaurants/ Cafe so you sorted for lunch. They have many other activities even for kids. Definitely worth checking out when in George.

It's always great to visit the Redberry Farm as there's so much to do. We have a toddler and a teenager and they were both able to enjoy themselves. There's quite a few restaurants to choose from as well, depending on your appetite.

We went for the strawberry picking, the strawberries were well kept and the aisles were nice to walk down. But I have a few issues first the signage here overall is very bad so you can get lost on where to go so It would be nice if they added more signs on where to go. But our main issue is when we were picking strawberries first we weren't informed when we came in that you cant eat the strawberries (I would like it known the reason WHY we thought we could is a) everyone around us was doing it so we both thought oh it must be okay and b) we have been to multiple other Berry farms around the country and they have never had an issue with it they normally encourage you to eat the berries so with all of that and the fact that we weren't told by anyone that we couldn't, we assumed that we could it also would have been nice to have been treated like a person when informed of this instead of being treated like dirt its just extremely draining and instances like this just make it so it isn't worth going) in the field so we did as everyone around us was eating the strawberries anyway as we were about to leave one of the workers came marching up to my father and said no eating in the fields so my father said okay?but what about the other people that have been eating them then? She just stared at him before turning to me to tell me no eating in the fields and when I continued to look at the plants while saying okay we won't sorry then she continued to stand there giving us a dirty look as if waiting for us to move and then when we were walking to leave she kept turning to watch us and giving us scathing looks (mind you she didn't do this to ANYONE else that were also eating the strawberries) this is a perfectly understandable rule and we will happily oblige if we are informed of it (signs could help with this just one in the middle so people can be like oh okay) when we were leaving as well we heard them greeting people and also did not inform anyone about the rule so I'm not sure how you are supposed to know? we were going to go to the restaurants after and maybe do a few more activities but after being treated like that I just told my father we should leave instead as they don't seem to possess any manners whatsoever and think it's okay to treat people horribly. Definitely won't see us or anybody we know again, all we wanted was a little afternoon outing and instead just got an absolutely terrible encounter.

A highlight is the opportunity to pick fresh strawberries - a fun and tasty adventure! Additionally, a mini train ride around the farm adds to the charm of the visit.
The farm doesn’t just cater to the kids; it has something for everyone. The multiple cafes and bistros serve a variety of treats, from delicious ice cream and crispy pizzas to mouth-watering waffles - perfect for replenishing energy after a day of activities. Stunning location, lovely food, and awesome play areas for the kids. They've added another new play area, which is great! We could see the kids play from our table. They have a baby changing facility in the bathrooms, which was fantastic to have! Always a lovely place to visit with the kids! We received good service. Yet another great experience overall.

I felt like a child again when I visited the strawberry farm. It has an amazing setting with the most beautiful views. There are also a lot of fun filled activities, especially for the kids. And the restaurant was great. You have to try the real strawberry milkshake!

1. A very child friendly place to visit with a lot to do for kids, handpicking your own strawberries 🍓 pony rides, and much more.
2. We went there on a Monday and it was bustling busy.
3. The eateries can step up a bit in the sense of variety (not close to enough cakes and tarts)
4. The rest was sweet, but this is much more an attraction for taking your kids.

Took my niece and nephews there for some fun over the holidays, and boy! Did we have fun!
Such a pity we got there late so were only able to complete the Maze. Definitely a MUST for all ages. Lovely setting. Ample parking. Food and drinks sold. You can literally spend an entire day there. Can’t wait to go back!

Loved the tour guide and all the insights and info shared. Always good to be educated rather than assume we understand. Got to encounter a cheetah too, most beautiful experience, up close. Lots of interesting animals to see and read about. The ranch is also well run with very friendly staff. A must visit if you're in the area.

Had a wonderful experience here. A lovely variety of animals all taken care of exceedingly well. Highly recommend doing the tour it's well worth it, so informative. Our tour guide Navin deserves a bonus. 😉 We also did an animal encounter with the cheetahs which is a treasured menory. When we visit South Africa again from Australia will visit again as would love to spend additional time there which we did not have this visit.

Fantastic place - make sure you take the guided tour of around 75 minutes it is worth it. Nice cafe. We paid extra for a "meet the animals" experience. We chose cheetah ; note that meeting cheetah cubs is extra. We saw all the animals advertised except a hiding leopard. You get very close to animals especially with the walkway over the big cat enclosures

Second visit to this venue, still in awe of how passionate this place is about the animals in their care and the conservation efforts of the team. Ed was an incredibly knowledgeable tour guide and so much fun to listen to. Savanna and Heinz were careful and caring with our animal encounters, making it a pleasant experience for us and a non disruptive one for the wildlife. 100% recommend!

We had a really love afternoon visiting Cango. The staff were very welcoming and polite. The park was very clean, the enclosures well maintained and clean.
The food was lovely.
We paid for a cheetah encounter which was incredible. We had a good safety briefing, disinfected our shoes and cleaned our hands. We had some great photo opportunities!
Lots of photos of the big cats over the boardwalk. The snake section was small but good. Meerkats super cute!
Loved the crocs - gutted it was out of season so couldn't do the dive.
We would definitely go again!

Amazing place to bring the kiddies. Slushies and candies at the store to give them their daily dose of sugar. The animals are absolutely gorgeous, very well taken care of. We got there at about 9:00, which was just around feeding time for the lions, cheetahs, and the tiger. The birds were so cute and tame, we bought some necter at the shop in small little shot glasses and you and feed them and they come flying towards you and sit on you to drinks the nectar. Definitely recommend getting a quick bite at the Turtle restaurant. The food was scrumptious, and the waitress who helped us was delightful. They have guided tours, which you can attend where they take you through the snake and reptile part of the zoo, which was very interesting. Both the kiddies and the adults will love the guided tours as well as the other animals that they have( one animal of your choice) that you can go feed and pet( you have to pay extra). An absolute delightful experience. 10/10 would go again💯👌

It is a really nice place. We went on a tractor tour around the farm and saw lots of ostriches and even some emus. The guide was knowledgable about the farm and the animals which are on it. We saw ostriches which had recently laid some eggs and the ostriches were attempting to sit on them. We also saw eggs in incubators too and the guide told us all about why they usually go into them. We also had lunch while here and the food was very tasty. The waitresses were very friendly and good with dietary requirements.

So fun and such wonderful birds, they were quite majestic to look at too and my gosh are they tall, I'm 6' and they were almost a feet or more taller than me, but it was fun, also remember to buy a bucket of ostrich feed to feed while your riding across the farm its worth it and is very cheap too around 5 rands so all 4 of us bought one and it made even more memorable

Unexpected highlight! The tour is easy to recommend because you do learn a lot about these quirky creatures and the industries surrounding them. A tour starts approx. every 40 minutes all day and they don't need to be strict about group size. If you can't find time for the tour, you can enjoy a great lunch in the restaurant and feed the ostriches (just ask for packs of feed at the till in the gift shop... They cost around 25 rand). The grounds are beautifully landscaped and the shop is full of interesting ostrich products, especially decorated eggs and leather goods.

Today was such a nice experience, from the welcome to the goodbye. Our guide, Ben was so friendly and very good, his stories and knowledge about the farm and ostriches are exceptional. Thank you Ben, we enjoyed it so much. Regards, the Pretoria family.

There is so much we did not know about Ostriches. The experience is not only educational but also fun and interactive...you get to feed the Ostriches and also hold the babies if you want.
We booked the package with the classic meal. Delicious meals, starter was ostrich carpaccio and a piece of Ostrich steak with the sides for mains and a well deserved dessert.
The tour guide was great and the staff was friendly and hospitable.
Very nice chill area to eat and drink and take beautiful photos

We had the best guide. He explained everything so well. Kids enjoyed themselves. Got to feed the ostriches at the end

A fantastic morning spent at this ostrich farm. We had an amazing guide called Ben who explained loads of different facts in 3 different languages. He was particularly great with the children and everyone got to feed an ostrich, hold one of the babies and stand on top of their eggs (which can hold over 120kg!)
I knew nothing about the wonderful birds before our visit but it was very interesting to learn about them and see them up close. We enjoyed it immensely.

We had a very kind guide who explained very well all about this big bird. Even the feeding was an adventure. The tour lastet 40 minutes

Really cool experience. We learned a lot and had fun. Grounds and property were beautiful... Pretty spring flowers. Great staff and gift shop. Highly recommended
Very pretty hiking trail above the ocean. Full view of the ocean at all times. Spotted a golden orb spider on the trail. The ocean cliffs were also a stunning sighting. Nice clear trail and easy to follow

I only did a small part of the hike near the lighthouse which is close to the town and parking lot. It’s a nice trail with cute little rabbit like animals along the trail. There is also a cave at this part of the trail introducing some history. You can also see the zip lining here.
Allen Lin — Google review
My son and I hiked the trail and loved it!A good workout in nature, lots of indigenous plants around, saw some locals, spectacular views!I will have to come back and do it again!

Great hike!
You can either do a ca 8/9 km Route till the golf course or complete the full trail.
Beautiful nature and views.
In hot weather and sun you have to be cautious as there is little shade.
Rabea Kämper — Google review
This trail is fairly easy and almost anybody will manage . Start early in the summer months and take water with. The views are spectacular anywhere on the route. There is picnic spots but please take care and take your rubbish with you. Apply normal safety protocol by walking in groups.
Johan Human — Google review
Beautiful and easy trail along the coast, takes about 5h including breaks. We spotted many whales, dolphins and seals. Cutest thing were the dassies everywhere!
We walked to Dana Bay and caught a Bolt back to Mossel Bay for R100, no worries at all.
Lea — Google review
We only did a small portion of the hike but enjoyed it nonetheless. Be sure to wear a hat and put on sunscreen as you won't be walking in the shade at all. Beautiful ocean views. Quite steep at the very start but otherwise fairly flat. It might be a bit dangerous for small children who like to run off but otherwise a very chilled hike.
Christelle Els — Google review
Beautiful hike. Good to start at Mossel Bay by the lighthouse (lots of parking available). At Pinnacle Point you have to sign in to access a gated compound, through which the trail passes.
Ed Barney — Google review
What an incredible scenery. Really worth the hike. Take enough water. Clearly marked with bird sign.
Once you are at the security gate you will enter the golf estate and will sign in.
It is 9km all the way to the pinnacle clubhouse if you start at the light house. The trail really got scary at pinnacle point when we had to walk on the edge of the cliff. We also had to duck and dive for the golf balls.
Some of the bridges steps are broken and not attended to. We also did not see alot of bird signs while going in the estate.
The clubhouse offered ice cold drinks, which was lovely.
We got a bolt to take us back to the hotel.

An amazing hiking trail with spectacular views of the wild ocean. It is a 13.5km hike between Mossel Bay point to Dana Bay which takes around 5 hours to complete.
There are some climbing and uphill areas with a total elevation gain of 425 meters. The trail was mostly well marked. There are no shade so recommend to do the hike early morning or on cloudy days.
Loved the experience and will definitely do it again.
Anze Webster — Google review
This is a really long in and out trail but you can turn around wherever you want. There’s a parking lot right after the strip of restaurants, shops and hotel. The stairs at the beginning are steep but the rest of the trail is not bad. The views are amazing. We hiked about half a mile from the entrance, around 9am in September and saw lots of dolphins.
J. Lynn — Google review
Very nice trial and most of the way is marked very well. We started ar the lighthouse and finished in Dana bay (where we stayed for this holiday) The section up to Pinnacle Point is a fairly easy walk. Don't be in a rush to finish the route - take time to enjoy the stunning scenery.

Mossel Bay, 6511, South Africa
I'll never travel to Hermanus without this trip planner again
The Bartolomeu Dias Museum Complex is an outstanding maritime site that showcases the early presence of European sailors in Mossel Bay. It is named after Bartholomeu Dias, a Portuguese explorer who sailed to this area in the 15th century. The complex features several attractions such as the famous 'post office tree' where sailors left messages, a Dutch granary from 1786 owned by VOC, a small aquarium and a local history museum.
Awesome! Had such a cool experience! What a stunning area and very informative to the surrounding plants growing there as well as all the historical spots. A must when visiting Mosselbaai
Jessica McDonald — Google review
We went to the museum to show our daughter the post office tree as well as the boat. The shell collection was also very interesting in one of the buildings. Most of the displays are dusty and need a good dust. Due to COVID, nobody is allowed on the boat.
Jack Gray — Google review
I loved looking at the history and the ship itself. You are allowed to get on the ship and go below deck which is really cool. Sadly there was two small boys running around and jumping on the beds which is specifically asked not to do. This is not only bothersome but could lead to some damage. Some rules might be needed for supervision.
I would definitely recommend, it is quite informative!
Debbie Scholtz — Google review
There is some renovations going on around the museum area and the sign of the gate said staff only so it was a bit confusing. Fortunately a security guard gave us guidance. There is parking very close to the museum plus a few restaurants
The museum cost was r30 pp . It's a small museum with some maritime history of South Africa as well as replica ship which is no doubt the main attraction. You allowed to board the wooden ship
There are also a few other attractions on the grounds, post office tree and boot , old cottages, fountain and some nice views of the beach
It's something worth doing if you in the area
Andre Hackart — Google review
Learning about the history of Mossel-bay was a nice experience . Great pleasure seeing the ship in real life and the shell museum was quite amazing .
Wikus Britz — Google review
I am from P.E It was wonderful to explore and get to be on the replica ship. The lady at the front desk very friendly as well as the lady at the lil shop were I got to buy a few items.
Chantelley Scholtz — Google review
Nice place. Entrance fee is related to the quality of the display’s. Unfortunately the boat was closed for maintenance two days before ( Easter Weekend) what was strange as this is when most people will be coming to the museum. It is obvious that they get little to no funding as some displays are falling apart. I think the souvenir shop had nothing related to the display selling flea market plastic toys ect.

Wonderful and exiting place to visit. So much artifacts and history in one place, not bad for R20 per person and pensioners are half price.

One needs to appreciate the effort in creating this institution with building a boat into a exhibition

Very nice and informative museum and gallery. The replica ship looked good and you can get on board and imagine how the sailors travelled all the way there. Recommended.

I enjoyed the time spent there. Very interesting to see some of the artifacts that were recovered from ships that sank around our coast line. Also visit the shell museum next to Diaz museum.
Marietjie Oosthuizen — Google review
Very interesting history with lots of interesting facts mixed up with modern stories. The aquarium is very dilapidated and needs serious attention (very disappointing). Affordable, but not doing much from a tourism point of view, especially with all the passenger liners stopping in the Mosselbay habour.
Daniel Vandermerwe — Google review
It was one of the best informative museums I have visited. Beautifull paintings, full of color. It's such a vibrant, colorful museum. Amazing the skill that those early travelers had.
Esther Lucas — Google review
In my opinion it is an essence of a good historic museum dedicated to a certain event, in this particular case to the discovery of the trading route to India by the Portugiese. There is a replica 15th century caravel as the central exhibit and a lot of detailed information about the age of great discoveries, shipment and navigation in the Middle Ages.
Several other minor exhibitions (e.g. dedicated to the ocean life) are available on the same premises.
Definitely worth a visit if you are in Mossel Bay.
Vladimir Azov — Google review
Decent entry fee. The granary was unfortunately closed. The shell museum is small. Maritime museum was a nice visit, but the ship could not be entered due to renovations.
I feel the place has potential but perhaps will be better after all the renovations.

Santos Beach in Mosselbay is a well-known sandy stretch of land with calm waters that are ideal for swimming. Visitors can enjoy the golden, fine sand and turquoise, crystal-clear water without paying an entrance fee. Although it's very crowded at times, amenities such as easy access and a restaurant in a Victorian-style pavilion make it worth the visit.
What a lovely beach. The water was warm and waves were actually very big. Lifeguards on duty and the nets are wide and far out enough not to feel cramped in the space. Had a great day. The beach has showers and toilets.

A very nice beach, not the most idyllic one but it is very nice overall. The sanitary facilities are free and clean, the beach is clean, there are several good places to get food or drinks... Very very good public beach, I would definitely recommend going there when visiting Mosselbaai.

A nice beach for children, the sirf is not to big, and it is not deep. Close to the harbour. It has lots of nice places to sit. Great beach for the novice swimmer.
Johann Jonker — Google review
One of the cleanest beaches I've seen in a while. Calm water, not for surfers, but great for small kids. Water was clean and warm. Great little kiosk right there selling snacks, delicious draairoomys (softserve) and takeaway food. The Santos Express is right there for a bigger meals or drinks and so is one of the oldest beach pavilions with great architecture and a restaurant.
I really enjoyed my experience. The staff are professional and witty. The food was absolutely phenomenal and I would recommend this location to anyone. It's family friends but also perfect for dates!
I would definitely go back with my whole family next time.
Their products are also reasonably priced.

The way the wines are ordered on the tasting list, along with the curated cheese compliments, everything. We will definitely recommend it to all tourists in the area. What an amazing experience. Loved every moment that I was there. The staff are so friendly and welcoming. The moment that you drive into the establishment till the moment you find a parking spot and walk into the restaurant. They offer a wide range of pairing options for each person's preference. What is really amazing is that they offer 2 kids pairings with juice so that they don't feel left out. They have 2 really good in house craft beers. Their food was absolutely delicious. Fresh produce and flavorful. Their wine selection is really good and not badly priced. Worth the drive out and spending a few hours with family and friends.

Garden Route Game Lodge is a luxurious safari retreat with a natural and rustic aesthetic. The lodge boasts amenities such as a spa, pool and an on-site restaurant that serves free breakfast and dinner.
What a great place. Amazing they allow kids of all ages on the drives, which sold it for us completely. And we were not disappointed. Amazing guide who drove us round all corners of the property. Alex was amazing!
Food was so good too, though can be frustrating at times, perhaps they should stagger the meal times so the kitchen is not overwhelmed when all the drives arrive at once. But not enough of an issue to drop a star.
Can’t recommend enough!

This was an absolute highlight of our time in South Africa. You must visit a game lodge while here to see the animals. We loved Garden Route. They explained everything including the ethics behind which animals they had and why. And their history with the animals. We had close encounters with all the animals we wanted to see including an exciting experience with lions! The breakfast was amazing and the lunch options (though not included in our stay) we're delicious. Dinner was less enticing to me as a vegetarian but I still enjoyed it! And they knew ahead of time that I was vegetarian. The service was fabulous and the guides were so great. Loved loved loved this place. The huts were so luxurious, too! Tiny but had everything you need.

Such a lovely experience- the service is top notch. If you are expecting a bush Safari like you get in Kruger, then you’ll be disappointed. But we loved our guide Nicole, & really enjoyed all the foreign tourists loving our country. The food is SO good and such generous portions. My only complaint is that I ate far too much 🤣 We stayed in the Lodge and I would suggest staying in the chalets or further away. It is quite busy but lying by the pool (in between winter storms) was very relaxing. You are very close to the highway which is convenient but also not ideal. I’d say this is a great overnight stop for people wanting a taste of Safari. Thanks to all the lovely staff that really made it special.

What an awesome place! The food was outstanding! Honestly the best fish dishes i have had! A variety of dishes to choose from and delicious desserts! My one child is a very picky eater and the staff went out of their way to accommodate him. The game drives were great - we were given hot water bottles for the cool mornings and complimentary sundowner drinks in the evening. Everyone is super friendly and helpful and made us feel really welcome! Really not hard to find animals on the farm and the guide ensured we had the best time. I cannot thank the team at Garden Route enough for making our holiday so so exceptional! We will definitely be returning guests and can’t wait for our next visit!

Had a great time here, the views are beautiful. The safari was good fun and our guide Abie managed to show us a kill! Felt for the poor male ostrich but was unbelievable to watch the cheetahs catch their dinner so thanks Abie :)
Service in the restaurant is slow, however on our second night we were served by Maggie who was exceptional and did all she can to speed up the service. The game drive was really lovely and informative. Our guide made us feel safe and allowed plenty of time for photos of the animals and time for questions.
Fair amount of animals but would suggest an overnight to enjoy the lodge to the fullest degree.
I would like to note that there is not much forgiveness for foreign guests with limited English. As an added suggestion it's probably a good idea to consistently remind guests not to call the animals... Rather than belittle them when an incident arises.

We can highly recommend the Garden Route Game Lodge for Safari beginners that want something great close to Cape Town!

The most incredible stay at The Garden Route Game Reserve. A perfect stop off on route from cape town to the garden route. We stayed two nights with our baby, and it was perfect. Everything was so well thought out - early morning coffee and rusks, game drives that aren't too long and families with kids are grouped together on trucks, breakfast afterwards which is exceptional and after the evening game drives they drop you off where there is a huge fire for roasting marshmallows and then you have a beautiful three course dinner. The pool is lovely with great views. And the massage I had in the spa was genuinely the best massage I have ever had. Honestly couldn't fault it. Also want to shout out Dane who was so knowledgeable about all the animals, and who was really lovely with our family.

One of the best safaris out there where you can get very close to the animals in complete safety. Every night's stay comes with two game drives where you get to explore the grounds for two hours each time. In just a few game drives you can already see most of the animals they have since they are contained and are fairly easy to spot, with the exception of the giraffes. We went for the sunset ridge rooms which are more expensive but worth the splurge. However, when booking consider that this is not a relaxing vacation where you get to sleep in and sip drinks by the pool as the game drives schedule is rough and you're pretty much on the go the whole time. But for us this was perfect as this was exactly the vacation we wanted. Our guide Thalia was very knowledgeable, ethical and so much fun to be around. We learned a lot from her and she made sure we got the best experience! One minor feedback for the staff is that pick up for the game drives are a bit confusing for those deciding to stay at the sunset ridge. Sometimes the jeep picked us with only a few seats left I do think that sunset guests should have the privilege of choosing their seats first given that they pay a premium to stay.

This was an amazing experience. I grew up in the north of the country and have been to bigger game farms with more animals and wildlife however this place was exceptionally well run with excellent accommodation and friendly staff. Food was excellent and game drives were great as you knew what you were going out to see and you saw it.
Just to se expectation here - This is a game lodge that is still in its infancy. It is not the biggest and the animals there are mostly rescues and therefore not "wild" in the strictest sense. Seasoned safari folk will find it a bit tame but for UK / US / European visitors who want to get a good, close up view of the big 5 and have some unique up-close experiences (We got to hand feed elephants!) and a 5 star accommodation experience whilst getting a taste for the safari life, you cannot do better!

Just wow.
Recently had a 2 night stay with my daughter and we loved it.
Very pleasant staff, incredible variety of animals, great facilities, beautiful rooms, stunning views, fantastic food and awesome guides. The best and lowest stress way to do a safari and see South Africa’s wildlife.
Only downside was a 10.30 check out :)
So good, we have to go back again.
Thank you so much for making the experience for my daughter something that she will never forget!

Great experience .
Very attentive staff .
Martel was an amazing guide- very informative , funny and engaging .
It’s an enormous property and all animals were wondering free and seemed very well . We were also ensured that many of them have actually been rescued from captivity.
Great dinner - with a separate vegan menu with several options - unfortunately it wasn’t the case during breakfast.
Rooms aren’t big but in a good state and ok enough for an overnight stay .

Myself and 5 others attended this back in June.
What an incredible place and experience. The scenery is majestic and both our drivers / game workers were amazing, knowledgeable and attentive to our needs (including hot water bottles on cold mornings). They went above and beyond to ensure we saw everything we wanted to and the succeeded. Thomas was particularly attentive and deserving of high recommendation.
The great element that I didn’t expect from our 3 night stay was the food. It was really incredible, by far our best meals across our 12 day SA trip. Our service was again exceptional in particular Jaydeen who ensured we were fed and watered whilst laughing throughout. I couldn’t fault this experience. I would recommend to families, friendship groups and honeymoon or couples - I can’t see any better place to visit luxury whilst experiencing the big 5.

We left early after being incredibly disappointed by what we saw. Their website is incredibly misleading. It’s definitely not anywhere near a safari, it’s more a retirement home of very few animals on old bare farmland.
We travelled a long way (nearly 24 hours from Australia) plus the nearly 4 hour drive from Capetown to see less “Africa” than we could’ve seen in Australia.
The 6 of us that travelled so far to come here to enjoy our friends 40th left feeling very ripped off.
The rooms and accommodation is nice, but that’s it. That being said the beds are the hardest most uncomfortable beds I’ve ever slept on in any hotel or resort! They’re also two singles pushed together and split in the middle. I’m just under 6ft tall and my feet had to hang off the edge.
It’s definitely a tourist trap.
Many of the rest of our group have been to Africa including South Africa multiple times before, and definitely recommend not booking here.
We spoke to the manager as we really didn’t want to leave a 1 star review, however, there was no attempt other than saying we could leave early to try make us feel any better about our bad decision to stay here. We advised their website was misleading and they basically just agreed. Hence why we’re now leaving this review, as they seem to profit from misleading advertising.
This is worse than a zoo. I really hope they look after their animals, rather than exploit them like their customers.

We were very lucky with our experiences on our game drives but the majority of our amazing experience was down to our brilliant game driver Rynhardt. Phenomenal experience! We had multiple “pinch me” moments during the game drives. Our guide, Rynhardt was superb…knowledgeable, engaging, professional and safety conscious. The food was delicious and service impeccable from check in to check out. The property is lovely, luxurious without being pretentious. An absolutely unforgettable 2 night stay.

Let’s start with the positives: friendly staff, ideal location, value for money. Which is then topped off with a fantastic safari experience
I only really have two negatives, the food isn’t the best (breakfast was good but the main course options I had over the course of two days weren’t great). My other negative would be that I felt the rooms to be very dated, the bed was so uncomfortable
Overall, I had a great time at Garden Route Game Lodge and would recommend this as a good way to experience things in a short timeframe.

Great place for a quick safari experience near Cape town. Very reasonable price for room+game drive and 2 meals. The guides and staff are great! We enjoy our stay. The room is a bit dull but specious. They reply via WhatsApp quite fast and very informative too. Recommend for a group of friends and family. Great for couples too

What an amazing place! We spent 2 days here overall as part of our South African holiday and had the most amazing time. The safari's were amazing, we had 2 morning safari's and 2 evening ones, our guide was Nicole who was great, full of passion for the animals built on-top of a wealth of knowledge, we got to see everything we wanted to in our time there including a rare male cheater mating call. Seeing the animals in their wild habitat was an excellent experience.
The rooms were lovely and gave a proper game lodge atmosphere, we stayed in room 1 and did have some hot water issues (we were in a group of 20 and no one else had issues, so possibly just a small issue in room 1) this in no way affected our overall expirence. The food we had at breakfast and dinner was amazing aswell.
Thank you to all the garden route game lodge staff from the guides to the waiters for making this part of our holiday so special. Hope to make it back one day!!

Absolutely amazing safari experience, wonderful guides and the ability to see animals close up with knowledgeable staff was a real treat. The accommodation is very comfortable, the rooms spacious and the pools were lovely. Lots of little touches help make what feels like a special stay. Would recommend and if only we could visit another time I’d be happy!!

Great experience. Seeing lots of different animals incl. lios, elephants, rhinos, zebras and many more. The guides are friendly and sharing all their knowledge. Driving through the nature is such fun! The room and food is also good. Overall a great place to do a safari 🦓🐘🦁🐆

From the minute we pulled until the second we drove away, we felt truly taken care of. The staff was nothing but kind and attentive, never did I meet one that didn’t smile. The beds and pillowa were a dream. The food menu provided us with so many options each evening.
As to the safari trips, a smooth process through and through. Rynhardt was so informative but also made it fun. We saw all the major animals and then some.
We also had the pleasure of testing out the spa a couple of times, and thank god for that!! Again, a truly wonderful experience.

Incredible place! I was a bit sick when I arrived and the staff were very caring and accommodating and got me medication for my acid reflux. The food was delicious and service was excellent. Room was spacious and clean. The game drives were magical and we saw many different animals including lions, elephants, cheetah, bulls, giraffe, rhino, hippos, and many more. Definitely recommend this place!

I am the die hard fan of inverroche ! They were helpful and professional, loved the gin tasting !
Alex Beninca — Google review
Inverroche Distillery crafts unique gins infused with South African botanicals. Their dedication to quality and innovation shines through in every sip. You need to book in advance for some of the tasting experiences, there are a few options to choose from 'Tutored' and 'Academy' but there is also an 'Untutored' tasting experience to try which pairs with chocolates.
The overall experience at Inverroche is delightful, blending education and enjoyment, making it a must-visit for gin enthusiasts seeking a memorable distillery tour.
There is also various flavours of delicious handmixed Gin and Rum Gelatos which are highly recommended.
Elle Bell — Google review
I have done a lot of gin tasting and the Inverroche Distillery was just hard for me to be able to give it a higher star. We went there for my first gin tasting with them.. when we arrived the staff was very friendly and asked if we want the formal or informal tasting. We went with the informal, but what was weird is they just gave us the gin tasting with a piece of paper to read all about it.
The gin came in shot glasses that was just not comfortable to drink. We asked to waiter to please help us with what we had to do and so she did. She was truly helpful.
So you had to tast the gin, put a citrus string with and then a little tonic in the shot glass and that is how you were suppose to drink it.
Later it came to hard for us to get everything in, as we asked for something else to drink they said they didn't have anything else except the tonic and gin/rum/liquor! We were able to get a glass of tap water.
We were truly shocked, that such a fancy and popular gin/distillery didn't have anything else to drink as well as not giving anything with the tasting to clean your pallet.
When we asked the lovely lady that helped us, she said many people did asked but that is how it is.
Sorry but this was honestly not the best experience I had!
Johanita de Beer — Google review
Overall good experience, the “vibe” from the staff was a bit upmarket and they seems to look down at you. I’m not a gin genius but thought they would atleast talk you thru the experience.
Pieter Hugo — Google review
Inverroche is nestled in a very beautiful setting, boasting mountain and sea views, with lush greenery all around. The actual establishment is very prim and proper and one almost feels the urge to dress accordingly. Upon arrival we struggled to find seating (due to the busy holiday season). My family and I totalling five people were given a measly two menus to utilise, with no proper greeting or introduction from the waitress, I found the service to be somewhat poor, which could be due to the amount of people visiting the establishment. Inverroche has a very limited menu boasting a few toasted sandwiches, and some signature cocktails. We tried a variety of the ‘craft’ cocktails and they did not disappoint, I could especially recommend the ‘BeeTender signature serve’
All in all I did enjoy my experience and perhaps on a quieter day my time spent would have been slightly better.

A stylish gin tasting experience. There are formal tastings at specific times or informal tastings at your convenience. Definitely worth a visit if you are in the area.

Firstly I need to mention and compliment a staff member. Cindy-Lee really made a lasting impression on me. What a friendly and helpful young lady. Made us feel so welcome and went the extra mile. Inverroche is extremely lucky to have her as an employee. Amazing place and well worth a visit. The gin tasting was great, and the amber is my new favorite. The food was delicious and gin unique and of excellent quality. We had a gin cocktail as well and a food platter. It was excellent. Well done, owners and Cindy-Lee.

It was our first time visiting Inverroche Distillery. Very nice place. Enjoyed their Gin, but the introduction to all the different gins were rushed and not professional at all. We were a group of 8 people. Expected much more.

We visited the distillery for lunch in December - the toasties were amazing, the cocktails delicious (goes without saying😏) and the staff warm and attentive. We would highly recommend a visit! The Watershed concert on the Saturday was also so well organized - ample seating provided, a wide variety of food and drinks available and the performance was great!! Thanks to the team that put it all together!🙌

Very beautiful and unique establishment and great sandwiches. (Hence the few stars)
No greeting and we had to wonder around and seat ourselves.
Service however was shocking and multiple times had to get up from the table to go and find a waiter. We spent 3 hours at the venue we only had 2 drinks and a toasted sandwich. We were 3 people and food arrived one by one and couldn't enjoy our meal together or the food would have been cold.
Very disappointed as we were looking forward to the stop along our travels.

Fantastic little place, great cheese and goodies for sale in the shop, lovely outdoor area to sit and order great meals, snacks or drinks. I had the Nacho platter for two, it was incredibly tasty, light and well presented. For the price, well worth it. Staff are friendly and very welcoming. Will go back every opportunity I get.
The cheese platter for two is also a lovely option, gives you the opportunity to try some of the delicious flavors of cheese made here, onion and chili are my favorites. Also Angel the coffee shop cat is always there to greet you.

Wow ... the cheese is delicious and the pairing amazing.
We had the chocolate, port and beer pairing and you can't believe how well they all go together.
Afterward we had the cheesy fries with a twist. Perfect is a good description. From the fresh bacon bits to the homemade cheese and fries.
Well worth a visit.

Driving a car with low profile tires, the road is a bit bumpy but nothing too serious. The entrance is semi wheelchair friendly. I as a young female was able to manuvre my grandma with her wheelchair into the sitting area. Staff was very friendly and eager to help. We started with a cheese platter with all 8 of the cheeses that Kasselshoop offer. We were 4 people that enjoyed the platter. We ordered the "old school" cheese platter. Everything was exceptional and more than enough for 4 people. The cheese cake was absolute wonderful, melt in the mouth and creamy. We bought 6 out of the 8 cheeses we tasted. Would definitely recommend and make it a yearly outing.

Small little cheese farm on the road to Stillbaai. The service was great, fast, and friendly from all of the staff. Only two tasting sessions available so booking is essensial. Good tasting menu with their cheese combined with different tasting options like wines, local beer, chocholate and olives. The childrens play area could use a upgrade to keep them occupied while parents are busy tasting. All in all a well worth the visit

Ronnies Sex Shop in Barrydale is a unique and entertaining stop along Route 62. Despite its name, it's actually a farm stall selling fresh produce. Ronnie and his wife are known for their captivating stories and the simple yet delicious food at affordable prices. The bar has a quirky character with visitors leaving their mark by adding their names or undergarments to the collection.
A visit to Ronnies Sex Shop on Route 62 is an absolute must. It's just an 18-minute drive from Barrydale, so resist the temptation to stop there first! Ronnie and his wife are incredibly entertaining and brimming with character, eager to share their fascinating stories. The food, while simple, is delicious, and the prices are the best you'll find in the area and its surroundings. The views are nothing short of breathtaking. Be sure to try their 18+ milkshakes; we indulged in the coffee and rum, as well as the Turkish delight and vodka flavors, and they were incredibly tasty. I'm definitely planning to return the next time we're in the area!

Charismatic and iconic spot in route 62. A must stop place to stretch the legs. As you might know, this place is not a sex shop in the middle of the desert. However, the origin of the name comes from a funny story. Enjoy the road and route 62.

Maybe it was too early in the morning, I don’t know. We did not feel welcome at all, it was 9.30 in the morning, only 2 other people had a drink and we ordered coffee.
No one said hello, or welcomed us. The coffee (it took a very long time) was not good and far too expensive. 80 Rand for 2 very Bad coffees.

Grootvadersbosch Nature Reserve is a protected forest area in the Langeberg region, managed by Cape Nature. It offers various self-catering accommodations, but camping is the most affordable option with scenic views of mountains and an abundance of birdlife. The reserve boasts hiking and biking trails through indigenous forests where rare ghost frogs can be spotted along with over 200 species of birds.
Glamping here was worth it. Beautiful nature, lots of birds, a few bucks and then the baboons (jip, we got raided when we left the tent.) luckily not serious! I can recommend this place. The staff was friendly. Place was clean. Only the beds are very hard. Bring your own water.
marius dalton — Google review
Grootvadersbosch is a gem ! If you love forests, hiking and birding - this is the place for you. A weekend is too short if you want to hike all the trials and spend enough time in the bird hides, but even just for a weekend it is well worth the trip.
Marinda Mostert — Google review
Magical weekend spent here. There are not many campsites so it is not at all crowded and the sites are a decent size. We took a decked site which is awesome. Such a great idea, nice wind barrier which was helpful when it started raining which can be common here. The trees are great for extra shade in the heat.
The cycle trail and hikes are amazing. Such a gorgeous forest, incredible trees and birdlife. There are some lovely bird hides to watch and listen to the birds. We really loved enjoying it.
The ablutions are super clean and the communal pool area is really stunning. We enjoyed the pool too. The kids play area is well constructed and the kids had a ball with all the climbing gyms. Really top notch and way beyond our expectations.

Beautiful forest reserve for hikes, walks and cycling. Friendly and helpful reception staff.
The signage for the trails is somewhat confusing but fortunately we did not get lost.
Huge trees, many birds and a stream provide a pleasant environment which can be enjoyed by young and old.
We had our accommodation just outside the reserve.

Spent just 1 night in the Wooden Cabins, and it was fully kitted, the built in fireplace in the rainy weather was perfect. Just wished we hadn't been passing through the area. Would have loved to stay at least 3 more nights.
Kids loved it, and were thrilled with the Baboons visits....
Took a damp (it had been raining) walk through the forest, not good for elderly in the wet, but we went anyway. And went to see the beautiful little waterfall.
Finding Starfish Fungi was super cool.
We will definitely be back. Hoping to Glamp....and explore some more in warmer weather.
Gave it a 4 star because of how far the pool is....hopefully they build one closer to the campsite. But it's not too far from the Wooden Cabins.

Camp Site B7's view is blocked by a tree and feels smaller and awkward. We asked to be moved to B8 in the far, lower corner. B8 has two options to pitch your tent: a shady spot without a view and a spot with a view, but without shade.
Pros:
Great ablution blocks. Toiletpaper supplied
Nice swimming pool area
Play area
Small fridge which we had to ourselves. The other parties were well equipped and probably had their own
Cons:
Lawns were mowed after 2 pm Monday afternoon (checkin time).
Cell Phone reception is spotty
Many views at the camp site are blocked by wooden walls. They are probably erected as windbreaks and privacy screens, but at the cost of blocking beautiful forest views
The Trails:
The Stinkwood Trail is awesome, especially if you make your way to the rock pools, which is the best part of the trail. The trails in general are easy walking, except for the path to the rock pools. They are rather technical but not hectic. The redwood trees are majestic and absolutely worth seeing. We passed at least 3 bird hides for those who like bird watching. Flowers are not plentiful, but the trees and ferns take absolute centre stage

Visited on 4 Feb while visiting Heidelberg. Follow the main road out of Heidelberg and about 8.3km from the turn off is the reserve. All gravel roads but in fairly good condition for all vehicles
Check in to get permit was quick and having a Wild Card meant no cost.
There are 3 trails, we did the 10km one , the longest is 14km . Apart from getting down to the river and waterfall, which is currently not flowing as it's not rainy season yet , the trail was reasonably easy
There are a few bird hides along the route with some offering really great views of the mountains and valleys. Much of the trail was in the shade, thank goodness as it was around 30 degrees Celsius
There is also accommodation available. Very peaceful place

Wow. It's one of many superlatives that comes to mind when doing some of the hikes in the Grootvadersbosch Nature Reserve. It truly is a gem, and a must for nature lovers.
I stayed in a cabin 100m outside of the Nature Reserve and did all the available hikes over three days. It's difficult to single out one specific hike, but the Redwoods on the Bushbusck Trail, and mountain views on the Grysboksirkel Trail were especially spectacular. The flora on all the hikes were also something to behold - a canvas of multi colored flowers and plants as far as you can see. Absolutely worth a visit.

One of the few indigenous forests still left. Magical, and lovely. The hiking trails are beautiful and not too strenuous. Longer and shorter trails makes it easy to find something for everyone. Make sure to visit the bird hides. The one on Melkhoutpad trail has a spectacular view over the forest. The glamping tents are wonderful to stay in. We enjoyed the hot tub especially!

Sanbona Wildlife Reserve is a vast game reserve situated close to Cape Town that boasts an extensive range of wildlife, including large mammals such as elephants, rhinos, buffalo and big cats. The reserve offers various exciting activities like game drives for tracking animals and boat safaris. Guests can opt to stay at one of the three lodges or go on a walking safari at the Explorer Camp. The property also features recreational amenities like an outdoor pool and sauna.
During our honeymoon in South Africa, our experience at Sanbona (we stayed at the Dwyka Lodge) was definitely the highlight. This was our first safari experience, and it definitely did not disappoint. Our guide, Thomas, was incredibly knowledgable and friendly. We saw some truly incredible things, from a family of elephants being mere feet away from our vehicle, to a cheetah right after a kill. Our lodgings were also magnificent (the hot tub and outdoor shower were a great plus!), and everyone on the staff was so kind and lovely. We can't wait to go back!

If you are looking to book safari I could not recommend Sanbona enough. Besides the incredible animals you have the most amazing lodges, the service which is second to none and the gorgeous food. Special mention to our guide Marco who was incredible, so knowledgeable and a credit to Sanbona!

We visited Sanbona as part of our honeymoon. Every single aspect of the experience exceeded our expectations!
We stayed in Gondwana and the rooms were absolutely gorgeous, so cosy comfortable and spacious. The underfloor heating was an extra treat! The views were also spectacular and the beds so comfortable!
Our guide, PJ was absolutely amazing. He is so knowledgeable and passionate about what he does. We learned so much from him and honestly he opened our eyes to the work that Sanbona are doing for the wildlife. We were actually so emotional saying goodbye to him and will miss his stories! We seen so many incredible animals and to have an opportunity to see them in the wild was breath-taking. We said this would be a once in a lifetime trip, but we will definitely be back again and we hope to meet PJ and all the team again.
The food was absolutely delicious, a lovely selection that changed very day. The staff in the restaurant were so friendly and accommodating and just genuinely lovely people. Angus looked after us so well every day. We thoroughly enjoyed every single meal from breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks in between! Excellent hospitality!
There was a lovely lady who checked us in and hosted throughout our stay but unfortunately i cant remember her name now. She was incredibly kind and professional. She checked on guests throughout the day ensuring we all had everything we needed. Such a gem!👌🤩
I could go on and on about how amazing Sanbona is. We just fell in love with the place.
Thank you to everyone for the memories and see you again in the future!
Lots of Love,
Tanya and Damo from Ireland xx

Left a piece of my heart in Sanbona.
We didn't know what to expect, having booked through a travel agent rather than directly. We were blown away by the welcome at Dwyka Lodge, little touches of hospitality throughout, variety and quality of the food somewhere so remote, the attentiveness of the staff and pride they all took in making the experience as lovely as possible. Our room was amazing and I only wish we could have stayed longer to enjoy it! Jordan was our guide and his encyclopedic knowledge and warmth made the experience for us. We saw so much and it was obvious he wanted to make sure we had the best time possible. A once in a lifetime experience and memories we shall cherish.

I could not recommend Sanbona enough, we had the most incredible time and every single member of staff made sure of this. The experience was just second to none, I would highly recommend!! We learnt so much and thoroughly enjoyed every second of our stay! We went for 2 nights during our honeymoon in South Africa, it was incredible but we do wish we stayed for longer.

This was truly a once in a lifetime experience. Well here and didn’t want to leave. We got so lucky to have Ben as our private safari driver. He took us out on four different safari drives and focused on seeing the animals that we wanted to see the most. I honestly cannot say enough amazing things about my stay. They really do go out of their way to make sure that everything is perfect. Our room was beautiful and fully stocked. I was able to get the most amazing massage during my stay. And the food was amazing.

We had an amazing 2 nights stay at Sanbona! Very nice rooms with a great out door shower.
The staff were very helpful and friendly. The restaurant was nice and had a big variaty of food.
The spa was also really nice and we enjoyed 2 massages there.
On the safari drives we saw a lot of different animals, and different areas. Sometimes it took longer to find the animals, but that‘s just nature and the effect of such a big reserve.
Just be prepared to drive a long while, as the reserve is really huge. Also; wear warm clothes in the morning (pullover with hoodie & sunglasses for the wind are recommended).

A special place with a special place in our hearts after our engagement there 💛
One of the best our experiences of our lives! We had a truly wonderful stay in the Tilney Manor hosted by the Angus, Monica and their amazing team. They were so friendly, hospitable and went above and beyond to help us with all our requests (including helping me organise the proposal!). Our rooms were a gorgeous and spotlessly clean. Plus the food and drink was exceptional with a host of different options at each meal.
Jan our safari guide was incredibly passionate and knowledgable about the wildlife and went the extra mile (miles!) on the reserve to find lots of different animals for our group. The night sighting of a majestic mountain leopard and the walk by from a herd of serene elephants were particularly wildlife highlights for us. Plus Jan took further time out of his day to take us star gazing one evening, which was a spectacular experience in itself.
Honestly can’t recommend this place highly enough.
We hope to be back one day to celebrate our anniversary!

Amazing experience! All the staff were friendly: lodge staff, private transfer drivers and safari guides. The other resort guests were even friendly. The room at Dwyka was amazing and the food was phenomenal. The staff went out of their way to make our honeymoon even better by leaving us a honeymoon package while we were away on our first safari. They did everything possible to make you feel welcome. The safari drives were amazing as well. The guides were very knowledgeable and would communicate with each other so we could all see the animals once they were tracked. We saw some pretty big animals in our two drives like the giraffes, elephants, rhino and cheetah to name a few. The landscapes were breathtaking as well. We would most definitely return!
A truly special place! We thoroughly enjoyed watching the baby ostriches right in front of our cottage and seeing the whales while we enjoyed a picnic on the white dunes. This is based on our last visit, each time offers a unique experience and wonderful memories.

Lovely Nature Reserve
Great to camp as generally not busy & sites private. Sites vary in size, protection from elements, shade, closeness to bathrooms etc so check carefully what would suit your camping equipment & the experience sought.
Bathrooms are well serviced despite being a little old. Staff very friendly & hand soaps etc top class. Then there's the wash up area that provides dish soap, scourers, dish towels & replaced once used. Water pressure not the best if busy but water always hot.
The reserve as a whole is a treasure chest for the adventure - plenty miles to bike, hike, snorkel, explore dunes,, spot animals & birds.
There's tours offered, river cruises etc.
There's a restaurant, pool & more and guests seem mainly international.
Definitely worth a visit & staff are most welcoming & friendly.

This is a very special place. There is so much water in the estuary. I've never seen it this full. The eland have multiplied and the beach is as beautiful as ever. Even though completely untouched you can see how our oceans are being polluted by plastic waste. Fantastic spot for a mountain bike ride and trail run too.

The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. There are lots of animals close to the accomodation which provided a lot of entertainment. The restaurant area is very cosy and the food was very tasty. The restaurant also has a beautiful view over the water, especially during sunsets. There could be more signs for the red walking route, and just note that its not that easy walk for elderly people.
Alecia Conradie — Google review
Wow. Just Wow. The view in the deeper parts of the reserve is great! You have to go to the dunes when you are here. Also you have to make a drive around the area to see all the different animals here. I‘d recommend staying here for longer than just making a daytrip. Take your time and stay 1-2 Nights there is a lot to explore and very long walkways. Just beautiful!

When you think you’ve seen it all… WHAT A PLACE. Absolutely stunning and impressive. Comparable to Cape of Good Hope but way more nature und less tourists. Totally love it. Had relatively bad weather but still insanely great. Did the 5km hike which is doable with a „basic stamina“.
Paid R180 for 3 people. 100% worth it.

Amazing views. Note the long drive in and around the park. I would advise to plan your day accordingly! There are gorgeous sand dunes, expanding water views as well scenic sprawling grasslands with a mix of animals. Wish we had more time to enjoy and spend exploring!

A world class destination with well maintained amenities.
The Bites beach cafe has a good selection of well priced meals with an out of this world whale sighting experience. There is a bit of a walk from the parking down to the cafe, but this is on a well paved dual track. This is accessible on an assisted wheelchair.
The game viewing is authentic and unique, with loads of diversity in fauna and flora. Bring binoculars or a camera.

Enchanting cottages! A really nice touch to find the table already set for a meal. Very good children's playground. Awesome hike along the edge of the river, great birding, interesting history. There is not a great diversity of game but there is plenty of it, which delighted our foreign guests. Best sighting was a brilliantly hued, exotically frilled lizard, in the rocks, on our hike. Friendly, efficient staff and, from the restaurant, absolutely the best vanilla milkshakes we've ever had.

The Drostdy Museum, located in Swellendam, South Africa, is a must-visit for history enthusiasts. The museum consists of several historical buildings showcasing the town's past and Dutch architecture. It houses period furnishings and craftsmen’s workshops from the 18th and 19th centuries. Additionally, visitors can explore a working wheat mill on its beautiful grounds. For dining options, there are restaurants nearby such as Field and Fork and The Republic offering local craft beer and gin.
Lovely museum in the fourth oldest town in South Africa. The three-site layout leads you to walk through the town a bit as well, giving you the opportunity to experience the calm atmosphere. The museum showcases colonial homes as they would have looked in the 18th and 19th century. One also cannot miss the second-oldest jail in South Africa! Definitely a must-see if you are in town

Interesting museum showing how things were done by hand in the past. Has a working wheat mill. Beautiful grounds and well maintained. Several small shops at the entrance that sell fresh local produce, jams and memorabilia. Several restaurants next door and across the street.

The museum consists of three sites, all within walking distance from each other. One is supposed to start and pay (R30.00 pp) at the Drostdy, but we began at the Mayville House. The kitchen was fascinating, but I liked the small exhibition on Maria Elizabeth Rothmann and the exquisite garden the most. The paintings and furniture in the Drostdy are lovely. The prison was a treat (although the Khoisan exhibition is quite dated and looks tired) - I loved the yard at the back containing the different workshops. There are some really interesting tidbits about Swellendam's history - this museum definitely surpasses most town museums. An enjoyable experience.

Such a beautiful museum that is wonderfully kept up. Walking through from room to room, you really get a sense of how the people lived back then. Also, such friendly staff who were more than happy to answer questions about some of the pieces. I only explored the one building (which is free), but you can buy a ticket which costs R40 to view all three buildings that are part of the museum. Will definitely go back again to view the other two.

Bontebok National Park is a protected area near Swellendam in South Africa, managed by the South African National Parks. The park boasts an abundance of birdlife and bontebok antelope, as well as camping and picnic areas for visitors to enjoy. The site is situated by a tranquil river and set against the backdrop of the Langeberg Mountains, providing a peaceful escape from city life.
We loved our stay in this awesome park. Neat, large stands with great ablutions and kitchen facilities. Well maintained by staff and reception staff super efficient and friendly. The hikes were great and the scenery of the river and mountains were breathtaking. Well done Sanparks.

A piece of wilderness just off the N2. Camping and cabins with spotlessly clean ablutions, washing machines and cooking facilities. We camped off grid right by the river but there are also on grid sites too. We did a couple of lovely walks and a game drive which included zebra, bontebok, grysbok and Denham’s bustard. We swam in the river and you can also find places to fish. Marloth nature reserve and it’s beautiful waterfall hikes are close by as is Swellendam and it’s historical museums. Two nights wasn’t enough.

Camped here for new years. Great facilities and plots, just a pity the river sites were unavailable after some recent flooding. Several decent running/walking routes around the park where we saw bontebok, red hartebeest and zebra, but it was the sand fleas that got our legs proper.

I have been fortunate enough to have visited quite a few of the national parks in South Africa, and although I've driven past the Bontebok National Park on numerous occasions I have only recently visit it for the first time. I can honestly say that taking so long to visit them was a big mistake on my part. This national park is truly a hidden gem and as it is only 2.5hours away from Cape Town it should be something on your to do list. As you arrive at the reception area you already get a glimpse of what the park has to offer. The beautiful building blends in well with its surroundings and the staff are friendly and welcoming. The park also has a a picnic site where you can go and relax, with a children's play area and "braai" (BBQ) facilities, but unfortunately there isn't a shop available for you to buy snacks etc. Except for the beautiful fauna and flora, the Lang Elsie's Kraal Rest Camp (reviewed separately) is probably the main attraction with clean, modern facilities and different accommodation types available. I was also happy to see that the staff at the rest camp were just as friendly as their peers at the reception area. There are a couple of routes available for you to go on self-drive game drives with most of the roads easily traversable in a standard sedan or hatchback, and there are even a couple of hiking trails. While we visited we saw numerous different animals, including different antelope species such as Bontebok which the park is named after. Some of the Bontebok even came into the camp which was very special. We had a great time staying here and will definitely make a plan to visit again in the future. One important thing to note if you plan on visiting: When you use Google Maps to drive to the park, rather set your location as "Bontebok National Park Reception" as going to the park's actual location takes you through farm lands and to an area from where you can't actually enter the park.
Dewald Reinke — Google review
Nice Park with opportunities to go for walks or mountain bike rides unaccompanied as there are no dangerous predators around. Also, a great day visitor area on the Breede River and an area where you can fish in the river. Friendly staff. Unfortunately, there is not much game, or they are hiding away extremely well. In the whole Bontebok Park on the day of our visit we saw a total of 3 Bontebok. The most common animal we saw was Mountain Zebra.

This beautiful place is yet undiscovered I think. Our first time here and really happy we decided to do a detour. Stayed only 2 days, but wished it was more.... Went here with a friend who had complimentary tickets for wine tasting and lunch. It was easy to get here using Google maps. From the moment we went in the staff was very sweet and friendly they smiled throughout and spoke to us in a way that made us feel like important guests 😊 Roger took us around and explained the wine process and history of the family legacy in a very calm and understandable way.
We then were presented with a list of options to choose from (wine pairing) we did and the staff went above and beyond to give us more than we asked for haha!
Moving on to lunch the food was divine, compliments to the chef! After that we were still served desert, more drinks Daryll didn't want us to leave I suspect with his outstanding hospitality 😍
Lastly the view!!! The place is very beautiful, a must see💜

My review is more on the order side of things. Our wine club ordered wine on a specia promotion. I received a confirmation of the order even before the last person made up her mind. They had no problem amending our order and adding extra items. I was kept up to date on the status of our order and the wine arrived in good time and in perfect condition. I was pleasantly surprised by their professional efficiency. Good job you guys, bottoms up! 🍷

We've been wanting to experience the Van Loveren Estate for a few years now, but, as they, there is no right time. Today, however, as we arrived at the welcoming gardens and entered the grandeur arrival hall, was just right in every aspect of what we hoped to see. After agreeing to have her photo taken, Florentina graciously took us through the Wine and cheese pairing experience. Recently appointed at front-of-house and spending her entire life on the farm, she has soooo much passion to offer and we enjoyed every bit of the wines on offer and her continous flow of energy and knowledge.
We subsequently stayed for a small lunch at Christina's Bistro, which was just as a surprise. The beautifully manicured gardens and embedded family history can be felt is every breath of the cooling breeze through those age-old trees.
A highly-recommended wine tasting and Bistro experience in the Langeberg region.

Wonderful and historic wine estate. We did the 7.5km eco trail which was beautiful although very challenging shale terrain on the 330m-odd climb. Start early as the heat is unforgiving very quickly so also take plenty of water, sunscreen and a hat - there's little that passes for shade on those slopes.
But the work is worth it. The views are breathtaking and take in the splendour of the Robertson valley.
We had to double back at just after halfway as my wife's shoes weren't up a sharp descent which would be fine with decent footwear.
The shady avenue under eucalyptus trees near the Breede River brings welcome respite from the heat of the day.
Of course, after ones labours are done there's always a credit card burn in the tasting room. In the evening you will appreciate sipping your purchases because you will have added your sweat to the terroir.

Viljoensdrift in Robertson is a popular weekend destination offering a delightful experience. Visitors can create their own picnic from the well-stocked deli, purchase wine from the cellar door, and enjoy an hour-long boat trip along the scenic Breede River. It's advisable to book in advance as the afternoon slots tend to fill up quickly. The estate exudes tranquility while also being lively, especially during summer. Wine enthusiasts can indulge in tastings while waiting for their river cruise.
Make the trip out and make sure to book the river cruise

27 August 2022. We booked for the 1pm slot . The afternoon slots seems to be very popular times as the 2pm slot was fully booked a week in advance. Viljoensdrift is a beautiful place. Peaceful and yet vibrant and I am sure gets hectically busy in summer. The deli is well stocked and for those who like a glass of wine, their range of wines looked impressive. They have wine tasting as well and that seemed quite popular especially if waiting for your time to go on the river. Their meals are well prepared and tasty. The river cruise is fantastic especially if you want to celebrate with a picnic (baskets of which you can fill up at the deli prior to your cruise). All in all a good experience and well worth the drive from Cape Town.

The boat ride on the river was really enjoyable. However we wanted to do a wine tasting but because the staff member in that area was surly and unpleasant when we bought a few items to take with us on the river we decided to go elsewhere, not wanting to engage with her any further. Sadly we did not get to taste any wines from this vineyard 😔. We have visited 76 vineyards in the Western Cape and this is the first one we've experienced such unfriendliness 😬!

Huge potential for improving on what is already a good experience.
Jeff Rossouw — Google review
Good food, well prepared, and a lovely setting next to the Breeriver.
I'll be back for the Burger.
Interesting small museum. They display small items from shipwrecks around the area. Some other interesting stuff in display as well including an old house to showcase the way of life. There are a few coaches and a fire engine at the back as well. Entry Adults R30/ Kids R15. Staff were pretty helpful. Must stop if you are passing through the area.

Great museum, a visit to History, learning experience to know about those ship tragedies, great collection of ship wreck stuff. closed on Public Holidays, weekends. But open from Mon-Fri 9-4. But It's always good to check timings as it was showing open on Saturday even, may be because of December holiday days time.
pooja sharma (Pooh) — Google review
With all the lost ships around the coastal area there is very little information in the museum with stories or background around the wrecks. Expected more info. Why make the effort of keeping a museum with some good artifacts but so little around the history.
MikeV — Google review
Very nice experience a d very informative about the history of Bredasdorp and it's surrounding areas

The shipwreck museum was interesting. I learnt a lot about the shipwrecks around the coastal area as well as about the first people in Bredasdorp

Enchanting little museum packed with memorabilia from a bygone age as well as scores of items recovered from local ship wrecks. Items are well-documented in English and Afrikaans and the staff are very friendly and open to questions.

It was an unexpected surprise. The museum is well kept. I especially liked the huge anchors arranged around a big old fig tree.
Louise Davel — Google review
Excellent museum. The staff made the exhibitions come alive for my group of 13 primary kids. We really enjoyed our visit. Even the one boy who don't like visiting museums found the visit interesting and not "boring" at all.
Corne Lotter — Google review
Very interesting museum with items recovered from shipwrecks in the area and also covers the history of the Bredasdorp area.
Kevin Jamison — Google review
Museum staff switched off the door bell which left us outside in the rain phoning the Museum to open the door.
The wreck displays seem neglected with light not working and out of order signs.
We found the other buildings interesting.
Grant Boo — Google review
I visited Bredasdorp all my life and never knew the gem I missed. What a great museum. -cool cat too, it's kid friendly ... and there is lots to see.
John Cloete — Google review
It is a wonderful walk (or should that be sail?) through history when shipping was more than transporting goods and a leisure trip.
Back then, it was how people travelled great distances and came with its unique set of challenges.
The evidence of wrecks on display illustrate the pain of several lives lost so tragically – and the long time it must have taken for their families to be told.
Nevertheless, the museum would do well to have guides or voice clips at the various displays to give some context for those who may not be familiar with the maritime history of Bredasdorp.
Outside, you will find a great place to relax with benches placed in the shade and sunshine to cater to your taste.
There are neat and clean (though small) bathrooms on site and the lawns are well manicured.
It was disappointing that the museum only accepts cash as payment. It’s worth your R30, but there’s greater potential here.
Duncan Alfreds — Google review
Great experience, I always enjoy museums in the small towns. Lovely lady by the reception area, so welcoming. 😊
If you plan on visiting, please bring cash.
Such a beautiful estate, vibrant wines and outstanding sommelier. A special place for a picnic - looking forward to doing that the next time.

We popped in for a wine tasting at Springfield while visiting Robertson on a recommendation from our host. I sincerely appreciated the fact that there were as many white wines for me to try as my husband had reds! We have never completed a wine tasting where we enjoyed almost every wine we tasted to such a point that we would purchase the wines, but Springfield is not like other wine farms! We ended up walking away with a purchase of 7 different wines!
Wine tasting is served with complimentary olives which happened to also be one of the best we've ever tasted!
Customer service was exemplary!
Lee-Anne Curtis-Cox — Google review
This was our favourite wine farm we visited over the Easter weekend. Dog friendly, too. It was awesome to sit next to the dam and have a tasting at our own pace and in private as a personal preference. That being said, we did notice that the farm neglected to cater for the demand over the weekend and we’re understaffed. Understandably, the staff that were present were visibly distressed and impatient/agitated.
Tayla Calcott — Google review
Not to long ago, wine tasting in this valley was free. It changed and I understand this. I have been to Springfield several times in the past and I have never been disappointed. I will always recommend them as a great option. Until today. I state again, I don’t mind paying for a wine tasting but today: the wines were served, glasses plonked before us. Not a single word about the wine was said, no introduction to the farm or anything! After we have tasted the 5 wines and were almost leaving, a lady doing the tastings come to our table and asked how far we were with our tasting. Since we were done, she did not say anything . No apology for not showing up, she did not even try to make up by telling us about the farm… no effort.
Although I have been there before, for 4 of our party, it were their first time visit and they will surely not bring their friends here. On a Saturday in summer, surely you need more than one person to do the tastings ?
It’s a pity. Such a beautiful place and great wines. But I doubt that I will be back for a visit. Rather order online and visit some of the other farms where we had lovely tastings, like Rietvallei and Zandvliet

Lovely wine farm with an excellent selection of wines, great service and an absolutely stunning venue. The red wines are good, their selection of whites is phenomenal. Highly recommended.

Scenic views and incredible wines paired with complementary olives. The wine presentation was spectacular. Thank you for a wonderful experience! Don't leave the Estate without purchasing a bottle of Thunderchild, 100% of the grapes for this blend are grown on the orphanage’s grounds and 100% of the profit is donated to the children. A compelling initiative.

These wines are out of this world. Fabulous service to pair. Highly recommend!!!

Simply fantastic!! An amazing reflection of the quality of wines one can expect from the Robertson Valley. Soft juicy tannins on the reds, delivering exceptional structure and taste or ‘mouthfeel’ in every sip. While the whites deserve a standing ovation - in my opinion at least.
Amazing food wines for the foodies, Miss Lucy begs for seafood, while the Albariño is just mouthwateringly delicious, my wow-factor indeed! The olives deserve a mention too that are served during the tasting 🤤
The farm has a lovely authentic feel while the tasting room staff are friendly, knowledgeable and accommodating.

Exceptional wines! Sadly the service was not the best and with such excellent wines it would have been nice to have a proper tasting, explaining each wine, to do it justice but we just ordered and werr left to our own after a long wait. Either way, the wines blew my mind and we bought several bottles, it is certainly worth a visit.

Our experience at Springfield Estate was exceptional!
The wine tasting was amazing, we were attended by Deneen. Her expertise and friendliness elevated the visit, making it truly memorable.
Beyond the excellent wine tasting, the venue is stunning, offering a pleasant atmosphere and a stunning view of the vineyards while relaxing inside the tasting room. The perfect combination for a memorable experience.
I highly recommend it to anyone seeking a high-quality wine experience.

Interestingly they not part of platters, but theres wines do not disappoint!
The whites are notoriously special. I would also check out their reds. The thunder rock wine is also special as they allocate proceeds to the children’s home.
PS: Complimentary 🫒 olives are amazing!

Relaxed and peaceful atmosphere. Staff is very very friendly. The wine is stunning. Thunderchild is a wine that they sell to raise funds for the local Children's Home. That is a great initiative.

The estate accommodated us for a wine cellar tour, and it was the best part of the whole day.
They have wonderful wine and we bought a few bottles to take home.
Wine tasting can be enjoyed on the grass with deck chairs. Tastings are generous.
Their Life from stone is the most famous wine. The same family run the estate for generations.

Behold, a paradise awaits. This mountain is absolutely breathtaking with so many hiking routes to offer. My personal favourite is the route that heads into the crevice of the mountain, keep going and it will lead you to a rock pool, swim through that pool and you arrive at a hidden waterfall, there's even a ladder there that allows you to to a small cliff jump. Beware though, the water is freezing!

Was not as good as our last visit. We arrived, were seated and inform about the music and cover. Was then asked to move after 1 hour as there was a mess up with reservations. Waited till 6:17 when there was still no music and then left. Food was ok but not as good as i remember it. Love this piano bar so will try again.
Had an incredible time volunteering alongside some amazing people with the friendly staff that taught us many things about conservation and caring for the big cats. Educational and fun.

Please visit and support Panthera! It's absolutely amazing what the volunteers and owners are doing here. The educational work is a real eye opener. We were guided through the area by 2 volunteers in a small group. We learned a lot and all questions were answered. The big cats looked very well, have large enclosures and feel very comfortable. We adopted 2 lionesses right away because we want to support this great work. Thank you Panthera for this amazing experience

What a fabulous cat Sanctuary. The cats are clearly cherished and looked after, having being rescued from horrific conditions. Joe is so informative. The ninety minute tour flew by with lots of close up encounters with the cats but in a non intrusive way. I highly recommend a visit.

We had a lovely, educational, and informative experience with Megan. Panthera is doing such amazing work, providing sanctuary for these big cats that otherwise get bred for sinister reasons. We thoroughly enjoyed learning about the sanctuary, cats, and Panthera's mission! Definitely a must-see!

It was absolutely beautiful to see that the people take such good care off big cats. They live on a big property and look healthy. The guide we had was absolutely lovely, she was only doing tours like this for 2 weeks and knew so much about these beautiful animals! Would definitely recommend this place.

I love Rays 🐅! We did the sunset tour. What an experience. Learnt so much about these cats from the amazing and enthusiastic guide. Rays caught our hearts especially with his outgoing and curious personality and we were lucky enough to hear the lions roar! Absolutely incredible.
Mia Mok — Google review
A wonderful charity with staff who obviously care deeply about the cats they are looking after.
That said, as an experience for kids it can be a little hit and miss, and on the day that we were there (pretty warm) the cats themselves were very very scarce, and we didn't get to see much at all.
I totally understand that this is 100% their approach, but I wouldn't choose to go back without checking that the conditions are right to actually see a bit more of the animals.
Richard Marshall — Google review
Highly recommend visiting Panthera! We went as a a group of two families with kids age 7-13 years. We all learnt so much and were thoroughly engaged in the tour and the information given by Brenton, our guide.
We all now know that not all big cat sanctuaries are what they seem and for this reason, it’s so worth visiting and supporting Panthera to learn more and see some truly beautiful big cats.
Helen Evans — Google review
Such a deep respect for this sanctuary. They have structured their tour to accomodate the needs of the Big Cats in their care. Overall a fantastic and educational experience
Kelly Rosslee — Google review
As an animal rescuer and lover, I was surprised to find a place worthy of the name 'sanctuary'.
The needs of the cats come first here, which means you may see the animals, you may not. The staff answers any question with knowledge (and the truth). The animals all have their own stories, and that is very clearly respected.
10/10!

What an amazing experience. Joe was incredibly knowledgeable and you could tell everyone involved in Panthera are passionate about caring for the big cats and ensuring they get the outcome and life they deserve. Highly recommend

A gentle, kind place with close-up encounters with these beautiful wild animals - always with the animals coming first. Heart-warming to discover Panthera's vision of protecting animals that have been abused by unkind or unthinking contact with humans.
We spent a wonderful couple of hours on the tour and chatting to the very knowledgable guide. A great place to take kids and great for adults too.

A true sanctuary. Loved every second of the tour. It was very informative and beautiful to hear the history and stories behind the place. Great bunch of guys working there. Friendly and helpful. Booking and communication is good. It is a bit tricky getting there. No real signs to tell you where to go. Best to ask for directions by the casino staff. The park itself is a bit run down. No real maintenance has been in a while. Overall we still had a good time.

Our family of two adults and two teens spent four memorable days on the river with Jason and his very professional and friendly support team. Our boat was guided by Nkosi, whose river experience put all of us at ease even in the hairier moments through the rapids. We felt safe at all times, the food was outstanding and the camp locations along the banks of the Orange were among the best we’ve experienced. Highly recommend this trip - enjoyed it so much we’re considering when to do it again.

Thank you to Jason, Charlie and the crew on the Orange River trip. Walker Bay Vineyards and Birkenhead Brewery is a unique estate in the Southern Hemisphere that produces both beer and wine. The venue offers stunning views, friendly staff, and delightful craft beers, ciders, and boutique wines made to exacting standards by passionate experts. Visitors can enjoy a variety of experiences including beer tastings, delicious meals from an excellent menu, and even cheese tasting from the Klein River cheese shop.
If you are ever in the Stanford area, actually make a plan and get there, you must visit the Birkenhead Brewery. We went there for a quick beer tasting, there is so much more you can do here. They have an excellent menu for breakfast, lunch or dinner. The food is delicious and so are their beer. If you buy 16 bottles of beer (4 X 4packs), then the beer tasting is for free. Loved the place and will definitely be back soon.

One of the nicest wine farm \ breweries I have been to so far. The staff is wonderful and accommodating. The venue is large, with tons of space between you and the next table.
They are very child friendly, and have a large outside section you can picnic at as well. Parking is a bit tight. But you can just drive over the grass if you are stuck.

Birkenhead Brewery was okay, but I won't be back for the beer. Overall the location is great, the staff was friendly and the outdoor space had a wonderful view but the beer wasn't for me. I tried The Blond, The Pilsner, The Lager and The American Pale Ale... none of them made me want to buy more. Perhaps I'll give them another try, but I wouldn't go out of my way for their beer.

Excellent brewery. The beers are very good. Especially the Honey Lager and the Stout (personal opinion). The surroundings are beautiful. Very small kids play area but lots of open space. Do keep an eye on them though, a river runs through very close to the property. Dogs on leashes are allowed. Inside sitting is cosy and comfortable. Outside is lovely on a sunny day. The beer bottles are quite expensive though.

Definitely one of my all time favourite breweries in SA. The venue is gorgeous and the views are magnificent! The staff is friendly and attentive and the beer of course is delightful. My favourite is the Honey Blonde, which is a full and rich, sweet tasting beer with hints of honey and a beautiful golden colour too. A bit pricy compared to some breweries, but overall worth it, because it has a very authentic product and limited stock of each batch. Don't miss this stop on your way to Standford and surrounds! The venue is child, pet and disabled friendly.

We visited on a cold, dry and bright winter Saturday. It was our first visit and enjoyed having the Klein River cheese shop as well as the Walker Bay wines to taste and buy.

Nice from far, but far from nice. Such potential, but there are weeds growing in the bricks and dead plants in planters. Waitress response to how much beer is, "I don't know, I just started working here"
