Checking in, parking car and locating cabin was all a simple process, Staff and passengers were all friendly.
Being on the ship felt like being in a moving car. Eventually, walking around became challenging, funny and almost difficult to balance. Lots of rails to hold on too🤪
Motorcycle video games on ship... were extra fun😁
Was blessed with a cabin in the middle of ship, so I slept comfortably and peacefully unlike some others😬
Extremely windy whist on deck, making it hard to take clear pics😏
Pets welcomed on board, but are caged and no access to visiting is permitted☹
Definitely will experience this kind of travelling again😁 thanks to all staff who were on board 19-12-21🤗 awesome experience

Good service, people on board are very nice and helpful. Seats are pretty comfy although after so many hours you start needing a change of position and would love to lay down or something, I guess booking the recliners could be a good option but still 100% doable without them, specially if you are on a budget and want to save that money.
Food on board is pretty cheap ($12 pizza, $4,5 coffee, $7,5 burger)

The ship is fine. The amenities aren't bad and the restaurants and bars are ok.
What really subtracted from the experience is that there is no support for public transportation at either of the two ports. You have to walk very long distances with your luggage on both sides. If you don't come with a car, rather fly or find alternative transportation.

We had a day sailing from Devonport to Melbourne. The boarding was very late and ship departed late as well. Food wasn't great on deck 10 and pizza was horrible. It was fully crowded due to holiday season. There was shotage of staff and existing staff were trying their level best to do everything they can. Cleaning can be improved further. We got some chairs at different places. More comfy seating facility can be provided. Eventhough we tried to book recliners they were not available. It reached Melbourne on time and disembarking was fine.

The Spirit is a good way to travel to and from Tasmania and bring your own vehicle and van. Friendly staff. Good cabins to sleep and arrive fresh either to Devonport or Geelong, where the new terminal makes loading and unloading easier.

My second trip on the cruise and quite enjoyable if you're travelling daytime. Easy directions and hasslefree check in and parking on the decks. Check ind open 2.5 hours before and closes 45mins before the departure time. Restaurants are good with reasonable menus, 29 AUD for an adult if you use buffet. Also there's separate shop where you could buy hot pastries and cold sandwiches with drinks. Ample space for dining. Excellent customer service throughout. Recliner lounge chairs are quite reasonable and you can book them for free, better than staying on other lounge areas. I've travelled in cabins before but I'd prefer recliner lounge given its comfort and convenience.

Brilliant both night sailings over and back - firstly you have fantastic staff from booking to loading us on in our motor home - our cabin was covid clean and made us feel secure and safe - Please pass this on as Your staff really need to know what a great job they’re doing!

Wonderful cruise! Quite organised in terms of boarding. Takes a while, but it’s quite a ship full of passengers and vehicles. Dining arrangements were a bit confusing as a first timer.

Good cabins, nice food and a good selection at the bar. Can't complain about anything. Great alternative to flying from Sydney if you want to take your own car, van, bike etc.

Oh, it was so much fun. Very good food, clean, friendly staff. It was such a memorable experience. Good cabins, good recliners.

My first trip ever on a ship. Didn’t know what to expect but was blown away how good it was. The crew were great, the food was simple & well cooked. The Deluxe room was a delight. Just one negative the mattress on the queen size bed wasn’t on par. In fact they really need to upgrade the mattress’s. My Deluxe room was 7005.

The experience is great if you lower your expectations. It's not a cruise. It's a ferry with accommodation. You need to pay for almost everything especially food and entertainment inside the ferry. It's comfortable but the price could be lower though. Paid more than $1,700 for 2 people + 1 baby and normal car for return ticket. It's after a $500 government subsidy. The terminal in Geelong is new so there are a lot of amenities. Do not come too early. It will be more enjoyable if you come 90 minutes before boarding so you don't have to wait too long.

Enjoyable experience on the Spirit. From Geelong we did night sailing so had a cabin. Bed was so uncomfortable. Hard as a rock. No sleep. Coming back we had a day sailing so we just found a comfortable spot and settled down for the 10 hour trip. Went to cinema passed a few hours. We got breakfast after we boarded from the buffet part the Tasmanian kitchen I think it is. Steer clear of the egg and bacon rolls they are as hard as a rock also. I didn't eat the roll. Didn't want to break a tooth. But otherwise all good.
Jeff McNeil — Google review
We have been coming across to Tasmania since 2017, we flew once and it was a horrible flight 🤢, we then decided to try the Spirit and it was nicer, we eventually upgraded to a cabin which I highly recommend for the price, much better in a rough ride, not hearing and seeing other people throw up🤮🤢. We unfortunately did the trip where there was 12 foot waves and that was terrible 😢🤮🤢🤕🥴, fortunately we don’t have many of those and we feel much more relaxed when we get off at the other end. If the Spirit people are reading this, please please please 🙏🏻 do scones with jam and cream every sail, we only had it once and it was amazing as an afternoon treat, the food onboard isn’t anything exciting but scones was 😂🤣😅

Driving on and off the ship is made so effortless by the really helpful loading guides. They clearly and cleverly guide you on and off. Can't thank them enough!

Had an amazing time, everything very efficient. Ate at the buffet Restaurant, lovely food, but fill your plate as you can't go back for seconds. Free soft drink included. Staff on board were so very friendly and went out of their way to be helpful. Cabins are very comfy, you can set your cabin temperature. Bathrooms in the cabin are a good size and the showers have good water pressure. Lots of interesting things to do, eat, and drink, plus a kiddie play area too. Pizza available on deck 9... would definitely go on it again!!! Had a great time!

I enjoy sailing with the spirit, I always sail at night and take my car always. Great value and drive on and off each way a bonus.
The Bass Strait Maritime Centre, located in the former harbormaster's residence dating back to 1920, is dedicated to showcasing the maritime history of Devonport and Bass Strait. This modest yet remarkable museum boasts an extensive collection of ship and ferry models while also featuring maps, prints, and a computerized sailing simulator for visitors to enjoy. The highlight of the exhibit is undoubtedly the interactive simulator that allows guests to navigate a steamer into the Mersey River docks for a small fee of $2.
We visited on a Sunday afternoon and appeared to be the only people looking through the many interesting displays. The sailing simulator was great fun, being at the helm was a new experience. Adjoining cafe was very busy with lots of customers.

This is a great museum for kids and adults. It is a amazing and informative display. The ship simulator was extremely fun and a very cool experience. The staff members were very helpful and even recommended some amazing places in Devonport. Exquisite place to get some information about the Tasmanian sea and history. It has lots of interesting artefacts and wonderful souvenirs.

Great display of maritime history, very informative and very helpful staff.
Fun using the ship simulator and trying to finish the simulation, fun for kids and adults!!
Nice cafe as well.

Good food, friendly staff. Innapropriate/loud music for the customer demographic. Very draughty with side doors open, food was cold before I could finish it. This review is for the cafe attached to the Maritime Centre which is run as a separate business.

A fantasic display of Devonport's early maritime history. Great ships simulator that is good fun. Very friendly staff and an excellent cafe. Well worth a visit.
Alan Magarry — Google review
An excellent, small but extensively stocked museum. The adjoining cafe does good coffee! with an interesting menu. Dine inside or out. Great place to meet people with dogs because of the well maintained parkland surrounding the buildings. Walk your dogs and meet friends.

Took six grandies this week to visit the centre. They absolutely loved the simulator. Apologies if we got a bit excited at times. Lovely touch the certificates for the kids. Great experience.
Ian Wigg — Google review
Plenty of displays and information to keep you well entertained.
The ship simulator was a particular hit with the kids.
The only negative was it was a bit tight with the double pram, and we couldn't fit in a couple of the smaller room displays.
My favourite antique place! Massive collection. Impressive. Managed to pick up a couple of goodies from here. Definitely worth a visit when in Devonport. There is off street parking. Quite easy to find and get to as it is just along the main road into town. The staff are very friendly and helpful.

Visited here today. Wow! This place is amazing. There is so much to see and there's something for everyone. It was hard to leave actually as I wasn't sure I'd seen everything but I'll definitely be back another day. If you get the chance, it's definitely worth a visit

This store has Everything, like a toy store for adults: once you get in, it is sooo hard to get out. The staffs are really wonderful and friendly, and even the toilet paper holder is an antique stuff. Also have a fortune teller machine.
Nguyen Tuan Khoi — Google review
Super easy to just pull up out the front and duck in for a quick browse to see what fresh stock is in. An emporium where you can still find a bargain if you sift through, and even if not there is plenty of engaging "stuff" to keep the kids browsing for a bit.
Catherine Brunskill — Google review
With an abundance of antiques, Antique Emporium is a sight to behold. Everywhere you look there are knick-knacks, treasures, and items to discover all with their own stories and history. You will find things from all over the world in this magical store ranging from antique cameras, records, matchboxes, stamps, spoons, saws, furniture, DVDs, comics, coins and SO much more. The staff were incredibly helpful and kind. I could have easily spent many hours in this shop were it not for the limitations of my wallet and luggage - open 365 days of the year this is not something you will want to miss.
Annalise Chandler — Google review
Absolutely amazing place with lovely staff. So many wonderful things. A must-see if you're in Devonport!
Erin Jane — Google review
The best secondhand antique shop I’ve visited thus far! So many options and nice staff. Prices a little high for some things but overall very reasonable. ❤️
Blondie — Google review
Awesome place loads to see it has multiple levels and lots or different rooms
The prices are quite high for most of the items but there’s a few bargains to be had
Even if you don’t want to buy anything it’s definitely worth a walk around to see all the old and wonderful things

A huge range of antiques and collectibles over several floors. There is a great selection of books, and so much more besides. Recommended!
Andrew Arthy — Google review
Huge two story warehouse packed with antiques and collectibles. Something for everyone in here, everything from English fine bone China to vintage cameras and collectible souvenir Tasmanian teaspoons. Definitely worth stopping for a browse - you never know what you’ll find. If you like antique shops then this is a huge treasure trove.
Gustav — Google review
Well worth a visit if you are looking for some antique or vintage gems. This is two stories of everything you can imagine. Big rooms of cameras, music, books, loads of China and glassware, plus some nice reproductions of house hardware.
Great little collection of marble runs and automata - $2 entry per person, worth a look, for small and big kids.
Andrew Perry — Google review
This place is really cool to go and have a bit of fun having a look at stuff and playing with the toys and gadgets there! Only problem is that its a very little place but with the area they have, they really do supply fun activities to do!

Interesting, great for kids. Expensive but beautiful glass products. Very worthwhile exhibition of quirky machinery.

The kids and even us adults had alot of fun at this place playing with the marble contraptions. Definitely worth a visit . Service was not the best, walked through the whole place and was not acknowledged or spoken to once.

Amazing place to get amazing glass. Watch the glassblower on site
Heritage railway with steam train trips along the Don River & a museum showing restored locomotives.
Love the cute historical site with all amazing types of trains and railway items on display. Can go up to the platform control or the workshop to explore all the fancy royal and first class carriages.
The train ride was very calming and relaxing too, highly recommended!

Absolutely loved my visit. I adore Engines and trains . We travelled on the train which was wonderful and all the volunteers were so happy and helpful. The history and workmanship is truly amazing . The shed is something to behold ( everyone loves a good shed and this one is massive) There is a little shop to get a drink and crisps . Just a really special place with beautiful Engines and Rolling stock ♥️ thankyou for a wonderful day .

Loved this little gem! Absolutely worth a visit if staying in the Devonport area. Perfect for everyone and all ages. The entire place is run by volunteers which is amazing. All the volunteers are polite, welcoming and friendly. Lots of smiles. It really made our day to chat with them. Thank you all for what you do!
We really enjoyed the ride on the train and the history that came along with the train/museums. Looking at the train yard was fantastic!! Beautiful old photographs from times past. A truly memorable experience.

What a fun experience!! Giuseppe was a great guide and very knowledgeable about the trains and local area. All up, it was a 40 minute round trip. Then you get to check out the train museum and the old trains in the train yard.

Visited again on my recent trip, this time took a trip on the diesel rail car. Was fantastic as always and had a fantastic chat to the driver.
Also visited in 2019 (no trains due to fire danger) and 2021 (steam train trip, flipping fantastic).

What a lovely way to spend the afternoon! Wandering around the old trains plus having a train ride on a 100 year old steam train! Staff were knowledgeable, helpful & friendly.

Only $5 to enter good hour and a half to look around.
Before you go you may want to check what day's the trains run they only run two or three times per Week!
Train ride tickets are from $17 for half an hour journey.

Great place to spend your time in Tasmania. Nice Train ride for extra $5. Entrance tickets $10 to the museum, trains and the wreck yard.

Fantastic spot to visit. So much history lovingly preserved by dedicated volunteers and staff.

Found this a bit by accident while travelling. Great place especially if you like old trains, engines, carriages and it is nostalgic if you have connections to parents who worked on the railways. The Rail Motor ride is short but brings back great memories of past time. Well done to all those who keep this history going.
Ross Daniels — Google review
Good place for nostalgic memories of old trains, engines and added railway museum. There is a short trip to Coles bay stop on 1939 train carriages. Enjoy steam train ride on weekends if you are lucky. I highly recommend the place and appreciate the volunteers /staff who manage this place.
Varghese Zacharia — Google review
Fun and educational for adults and kids. Heaos of old trains waiting for restoration and a few restored to mint condition. I hope the coffee is work next time we come! Well worth an hour or two for a visit!

One of my favourite places to visit in Devonport as have always gone with family when here
We arrived just before a ride began, but it seems like they run every hour on the hour
Brought my partner and he loved it, the little train ride is very sweet and the museum, train yard and gift shop are all super interesting!

Such a great experience of riding an old diesel train. Staff were friendly especially it was just my partner in I doing the tour that time of the day.

Beautiful venue and party. Highly recommend the whole experience with the train ride and murder mystery party.
Safy O — Google review
We had a relaxing time looking over the museum and the yard as well as the short ride to Coles Beach. While it helps being a train aficionado there is enough to keep the casual visitor interested.
The staff and volunteers are passionate about what they do and are willing to answer any questions you may have.
If you are looking for something to do while waiting for the overnight Ferry to Melbourne then this is an option.

A remarkable achievement by volunteers over a 50-year period. The museum houses a wide variety of railway memorabilia. The train ride to the heads reveals some beautiful sights as you travel along the river. Well worth the visit.
Mori Flapan — Google review
Fabulous experience, recommend to all train lovers! A short drive from Penguin and a great stop to include if visiting the Anvers Chocolate Factory or Ashgrove Dairy Door! Don't miss the relaxing train ride, short and scenic with the return trip in a First Class carriage which was a lot of fun!
Jacqueline Boyd — Google review
Pleasantly surprised at the smooth organisation of access to booking and venue, and options of available times.🙂
The 'approach' up the walkway into the building was beautifully clean with a full and clear view of the old steam and electronic trains, let alone entering the building itself to heading out onto the verandah for boarding being taken back 100 years ready for yet for the ride itself ! 😃
The train ride itself was just "wonderful", the guide/train driver so very pleasant taking his part in his old time attire, he was so competent in his knowledgeable of Tasmania's railway history, informative and accommodating as he took us back through time to an authentic visit to past time train travel, as we viewed outside the train windows of the woods on one side and the Don river on the other !😀 There was a selection of train cabooses from general to first class to choose to ride in as we may ! 😯😃And it 'felt' like we were in that era !.
Myself and my Granddaughter were "taken aback" by the "whole" experience we did not expect such as what it was..... Just so very
entertained and "thrilled" by such a polished experience.😁
It didn't end there either - after the train ride we were welcome to walk amid the old trains and climb aboard them for a look ! AND able to climb up into the old watch Tower ! 😁
The venue itself and the hands on display area of past train travel accessories from old suitcases, lighting, train parts and tools, information was worth visiting in itself !.
There was a shop and displays and options of memorabilia ! , we brought a train domino game set, and then sat down and enjoyed a Dixie ice cream and relaxed.😊
Oh look we could not recommend it more highly, and will be ! - and we will be going back time and again, and will be having my granddaughter's Birthday party there this yr.
You are just missing out if you don't take the time to enjoy this wonderful wonderful place !
An absolute and total credit to whoever saved these trains and transformed it into what it is today.
We just want to say the biggest" THANKYOU" Don Train Railway, for an unforgettable memory! - and 'memories' are ' precious ' 😊💑✨

Great experience with train ride to Coles Beach. There is a little museum at the front office, and a yard with old trains. Definitely worth seeing, and I is located just minutes from the Devonport city center.

This is a great quick stop on a road trip. The museum is rich with history and things to look at.
All-day brekkie, wood-fired pizzas and coffee at a quaint cafe on a pick-your-own berry farm.
Lovely place for brunch with a really nice environment. The food we ordered was great and the lady manning the till was so friendly too. I’d imagine that this place gets pretty packed with families over the weekend! Definitely recommended to dine here and enjoy the outdoors.

Had to find some late lunch after a good drive to west side. Honestly couldn't find any pizzas worth visiting in the area so gave this a try. It is as good as most review says. Fresh and full of flavours. It's better than most Sydney pizzas and you can taste how fresh the ingredients are. Indoor or outdoor with plenty of seats. Though on this climate it's warmer to stay inside. The area is great for kids and got some local produce in its little shop for you to take home. A must visit for anyone in the area.

They offer a variety of brunches and desserts, freshly made scones everyday! I loved the environment and surroundings, lots of things for children to do and play with, there's even a mega big chess where parents can play with their child! Yet to try dining in the train and hopefully get to try it next time. Clean toilets! Love it.
So glad they've got a new barista now and the coffee is so good 👍🏻

Came on a Friday night and unfortunately they had an event going on so we had to buy the entry even though no interest in the event at all. It was a live music band outside, quite loud and quite a few tables were filled.
Had their mushroom pizza and calabrese one. Both were amazing!! The base was crispy and dough was beautiful, and toppings have beautiful taste for both flavour. Probably one of the best pizza I have had, didnt expect that from a berry place! Also had the berry ice cream and it was big serve. Taste wise it’s ok, not very sweet and slightly tangy. Good experience but probably actually rather go when no event happening.
Reply to management:
Thanks for telling me it was just my luck who travelled from interstate, who passed this place on the day we drove to change hotels/towns, that it was our only chance to have dinner there or not at all and yup, just our luck there was event happening that we had to pay $40 extra for an entry to the place only for music and noises we don’t care for. I think you should change the rule tbh for visitors who are there not for the event.
Funky attraction featuring 8 outdoor garden mazes & a whimsical, 1/5th-scale model village.
I really enjoy this place. We were prompted to go her after watching the travel guides. Entry was simple, there is no need to prebook. The mazes are good fun with plenty of activities especially for the kids. There are plenty of signs with witty remarks on them. A lot of work was put into designing the mazes and the miniature village. It is out of the way but we merged it with a trip to Cradle Mountain so it worked well. There is plenty of parking and the gift shop is interesting. It is a pity the founder has passed because we would really have loved to meet him. His quirkiness is evident throughout the site including the witty signs but also in the Tasmazia miniature embassies and township. I particularly liked the Iceland, Poland and the made up Embassies. There is a cafe on site but unfortunately it was closed the day we were there. It was a fun way to spend a couple of hours.
Wayne T — Google review
We went 20yrs ago and compare to now, they kept the place really well. It's a pity that the lavender farm do not have any more flowers. The mazes trimmed beautifully. There's few mazes for different age group to explore and lose yourself in this magical experience.
Noorzidah M N — Google review
Our family had a fun day at Tasmazia recently. This was our second time visiting, our boys 7&10 enjoyed it the first time and requested it on next trip to Tasmania. The staff are very friendly, the mazes were lots of fun and the little houses are very cool. I noticed that QR codes have been added to many of the little houses and tell a short story of the house. We all found that very interesting.
The only downside was that the menu has been scaled back, not as many lunch options. I had a delicious sweetcorn and chicken soup with warm damper.
We will definitely be back 😊

Nicely done and well maintained place. It's got something for all kids. Must visit if you are around Sheffield. Mini Embassies of various countries are very cute.
Little town of crackpot is just that.
It was warm day when we visited had Lavender ice cream which was yummy!!!
Staff are friendly and helpful.

Lots of things to see. I especially liked their embassy garden. Most of their mazes are reasonably easy. Hampton Court was the only one we didn't conquer. Nice location, sign posted from Sheffield. None of us enjoyed the food. None of my group would recommend their pancakes. Whether we picked the wrong day.
Vicki Bell — Google review
Went on a cold winter day less than 10C. Bit chilly but did enjoy our hour there. Even though we spent almost an hour driving there. The maze were good fun, the jokes were a nice touch. Lots of good things to see. Our 2yo didn't understand much of it but still had a good time exploring. We saw lots of wallaby in the maze, that was fun! No lavender as well, maybe due to season. But the view there were breathtaking. Not much around, we went to Sheffield for lunch afterwards.
Ricky L Gu — Google review
It was surprisingly good, like a lot better than I expected, my 8yo had a blast in the mazes, we got lost multiple times and my suggestion is got to the toilet before you enter as trying to get out of a maze when you need a toilet is not cool. Food was very quick a reasonable, all staff were lovely
Tiffany Rose — Google review
This was such a fun experience (which was unexpected as 2 adults)! The detail included in the paint work is incredible, and we very much enjoyed having a chuckle at the audio clips attached to each of the village houses. Wish we could have spent more time here (but do keep in mind the jokes and houses were conceptualised by a boomer who seems to be a bit religious, so they aren’t very PC- but hey isn’t that the charm of things like this?).
WAY better than Canberra’s Cockington green
Lizzie Garling — Google review
Absolutely enjoyable for both adults and kids! The best maze complex we have been to, as there is plenty to see and funny things to discover along the way. The larger mazes were quite challenging but didn’t feel ‘trapped’ as there were jokes along the way to keep us entertained. Was also delighted to see a few pademelons along the way.
The Village of Lower crackpot and Embassy Gardens were quirky and entertaining to explore. A lot of thought has gone into creating each exhibit. We had a lot of fun, both young and old. There are also great views of Mt Roland from the ‘Village’. The lavender farm was lovely but only small.
Many areas are sunny so be prepared with sun protection. To enjoy the maze, one needs to have enough time.

We went here in July 2021, great place to take the kids, we had lots of fun.
I would give 5 stars but the employee seemed a bit dishonest
Before leaving I place a bar of lavender soap on the counter, the employee moved it to the cash register as he rang it up and left it there, I had to reach over to pick it up, not sure whether he wasn’t paying attention to what he was doing or was trying to see if I forget about the soap like I did with the book. Just odd that he didn’t place the soap back on the counter once paid.

Unique place to visit, one of the best days out. Awesome fun for adults and kids alike.....amazing mazes and beautiful little buildings throughout, also has a cute cafe with awesome food. A must visit for anyone nearby only 40m drive from cradle mountain.

We had a great time!! 2 adults and 2.5 year old. Seemed expensive at $60 entry but we spent nearly 4 hours there. We saved money by packing a picnic, but the café food looked delicious so next time we will treat ourselves. The facilities are great, clean and new looking. We will definitely go back here. My only complaint is that the largest maze was quite a concern with all the sticks poking out, my toddler was running around and I was worried he would poke an eye out.
Krystal — Google review
This is really good fun! Big mazes with plenty of quirky humour to go with it - the kids absolutely loved it. There was a good selection of mazes and other interesting bits to look at - with some local paddymelon to keep the kids entertained too. The cafe was also really great - their pancakes and scones were absolutely brilliant - toasted sandwiches great too.
Highly recommended for a bit of family fun!

Great experience in the maze and absolutely loved the puns, banters and sacarsm posts within the maze 🤣
$30 per adult and various prices for kids and family.
Plenty of wildlife and birds to see.
The tiny buildings and embassies were amazing.
Lavender was in its early bloom despite being in mid December.
Overall a great walk, exercise, bonding time and a way to spend the day.
Bonus 'scones on steroids' at the cafe for $12 was a well deserved reward!!!!

MUST SEE!! Absolutely amazing. No pun intended. This was one of the best attractions our family visited in Tassie. Incredibly unique. The staff were super helpful and so friendly. The prices were fair. The facilities were great. The cafe was clean and the food was really yummy. Something to do for everyone. Cannot recommend this attraction enough. Our kids 8, 5 and 2 will remember this place for ever. Keep up the exceptional work.

Absolutely recommend especially if you have kids. So much to see and explore! The kids especially loved the embassies and the little town with cubby houses and tree house. I especially enjoyed the scenery and the lavender. Look at that view! Easy food and exceptional service. Bathroom was clean and a nice gift shop too. Bring a hat and sunscreen and plenty of water if you’re tackling the maze and think of staying for abit as we did. Even tho over cast, it was quite a warm day. Amazing time thank you

Lots of different things to do here. The mazes are fun, the little signs placed around are also good for a laugh. Lavender was pretty. Definitely stop off here of you are looking for something to do...

Stopped here for an overnight camp during a through hike. The coffee at the cafe is good and the food is fantastic. Worth a drive in itself. The campground by the river is a beautiful spot. The staff were all very friendly. Next time we'll visit the zoo proper and stay a few nights so we can explore the surrounding area.

Wings has a wide variety of wildlife - from birds, snakes, to emus and trout. The keepers show a genuine love for the animals and the enclosures are kept clean and provide adequate space and enrichment for the animals. Picturesque location with nearby camping. Great for kids.

We recently visited Wing Wildlife Park after a recommendation from a friend, and boy are we glad we did!
Although a little out of the way compared to some tourist attractions, it is well worth the drive.
From the super friendly staff at all levels (chef, reception, keepers etc), to a fantastic range of animals. The park is large and well spread out. You could easily spend more than a day enjoying it.
We especially loved our Devil Encounter.
My only regret is not doing the highland cow encounter.

It was a great place to visit. A cross between a zoo and a wildlife rescue centre. The staff were happy, friendly, and very helpful. I thoroughly enjoyed the day. The food in the café was excellent too.

More animals than I expected, and quite a varied collection too. A variety that we're not Australian, but still interesting. It was possible to get quite close to many of them, particularly the kangaroos, and the park was easy to get around even if mobility is limited. Good selection of ice cream in the cafe too to cool down afterwards. A decent experience all in all.

Very interesting place. The lady at reception was very enthusiastic and all other staff i saw were extremely happy and helpful. A great experience feeding fish and kangaroos. Was also great to walk through the farm area. The drive down was scenic and beautiful, I have rarely seen such amazing scenery. There are a few single lane roads, so be careful driving if its dusk. Many animals are rescues and it is such a wonderful thing to see them being taken care of.
Bethany Thiele — Google review
This is a small family owned wildlife park featuring animals native to Tasmania and Australia. The animals are all there because they can’t be reintroduced to the wild for various reasons. It’s small enough to be easily walkable, the animals are easy to spot and there’s a petting area with farm animals for the littles plus you can feed and pet the kangaroos (visitors are warned to approach from the front - do monitor children). For an additional fee you can reserve a time to get up close and personal with the koala, the wombat and the Tasmanian devil. There’s a nice little gift shop and cafe at the front for coffee or ice cream. Free public restrooms near the parking lot.
Laura Spriggs Gray — Google review
I enjoyed this a lot. The Tassie Devils were very active and you can see the animals are well cared for.
Kelly Leonard — Google review
This was such a cool experience. We had the place to ourselves for the most part when we were there. All of the animals were awake and moving unlike at zoos - and they all seemed so comfortable and happy. I would highly recommend spending 3 hours to see it all and plan to watch the devils eat. It is grossly fascinating! Plus being able to talk amongst the kangaroos and wallaby’s was super cool.

Fantastic family run business.
We had Ben and he was great.
Exceptional people skills. His parents should be so proud of him.
He was well educated on everything in the caves.
He was funny and easy to listen too.
He was great with the kids and didn't rush us or get annoyed at us or the kids.
I will recommend this place to everybody once I return home.

Steep steps down leads to quite an extensive network of paths allowing one to appreciate good examples of typical cave formations such as shawls straws, wedding cake, glow worms. Good value with an amusing tour guide with lots of ‘Dad jokes’.

Spectacular. Highly recommended.
Entry is by guided tour only and is great value, $50 for a family with 2 or more kids.
The guide is very knowledgeable and entertaining, you can tell he enjoys taking people in every time.
After entering the cave down 54 stairs, the path is pretty easy going with a few more stairs here and there and a short ladder at one point that can be bypassed if need be. Our 4 year old walked the whole tour without any problems.

Awesome tour - when you can catch Miss 13s interest you know you are on a winner! Part Natural History, part comedy - Geoff is a GEM imparting his passion for the place. Full of surprises and beauty! Note that guided tours are the entry times - not a wander at will place but the guided tour adds so much more value
Veronica Hausknecht — Google review
These are some seriously cool caves. If you’re lucky you might spot a giant dinner plate sized spider native to the caves. That said, access is difficult - the entrance features 50+ steep stairs to descend (and reascend at the end of the tour) and the tour requires descending a ladder as well as dodging stalactites and squeezing through narrow passages. The tour itself is made fun and interesting by the guide and the caverns feature many interesting formations, a cathedral chamber with astonishing acoustics and a room full of glow worms (no photos without a license which must be purchased far in advance). There’s a cute little gift shop at the entrance and clean restrooms.

Was wanting to see a cave in Tasmania and found this place online, Gunns plains caves is a must see place, it’s hidden away just a short drive from Ulverstone. We arrived at the gate and was a short wait till we met our guide Geoff and he is a brilliant funny and exciting person to take us for the tour. Lots of different sites to see underground we we’re definitely not left disappointed.
Would definitely recommend this place for anyone to go to.

Always a great pleasure to bring tourists here and I always join them for a tour. I don't think the cave changes much, but each time it impresses me enormously. Well worth the visit and great knowing your money stays 100% local!

Beautiful cave with many interesting structures. Price is 19 per adult or 15 for concessions. Trish and Geoff ran the tour, and they were very friendly and humorous with their commentary. Trish was our guide, and her guidance has that kind of a school tour vibe, with extra jokes (prepare your sense of humor, so that you can joke as well, not getting triggered like the low rating reviews here). The tour itself is a good exercise for you, with an hour of walking around. Free stamping and few souvenirs are available too!
Nguyen Tuan Khoi — Google review
If you can handle all the lame dad jokes from the guide, you'll have a blast. A quick little tour with a great view of caves, stalactites and stalagmites, and other sedimentary wonders. The glow worms were very cool to see.

What a brilliant find. Staff are proper nice, and super friendly and knowledgeable - shout to Matt and Trish who fitted us in on our own private tour. Caves are fantastic and you can see some glow worms as part of the tour too. There's zero phone reception though, so bring your card or cash, as your Optus data ain't going to work with your Google Pay or Apple Pay.

$55 for a family of 4. The guide was funny and we loved seeing the glow worms at the very end. We didn’t expect it to be so bright.
It only has 4 out of 5 stars due to the fact that there was too many people on the tour with us.
Did call in the morning to book in the afternoon no problem.

Bring your Imagination and enjoy a tour through a quiet uncommercialised cave system that is truly unique. Set in a beautiful valley that's best viewed by driving along the B17 route from Penguin. Geoff's experience in caving is astounding as he points out beautiful limestone features in a cave that once was near flooded in 1929. A nice added attraction is the glow worms.
Cradle Mountain, located in a national park, is a popular hiking destination with stunning views of a nearby lake. Visitors can enjoy scrambling over boulders to reach the summit. The mountain also offers a peaceful retreat at Cradle Mountain Wilderness Village, where guests can stay in cozy cottages surrounded by lush greenery and stargaze at night.

Amazing place especially for hiking. Shuttle bus service is so convenient that bus will be available in every 10-15 mins. Some of the bus drivers are very friendly and funny with bear like Santa Clause. Beautiful people! Drinking water is available at Dove lake stop only. We did the circuit lake Dove > Wombat pool > Crater Lake > Marions Lookout > kitchen hut > Face Track > Lake Will > Dove Lake. Long hike took us 8h but beautiful views. Snacks and suncream are must-have. Layers are recommended as it’s windy sometimes

An astonishing experience and a must-see for all adventurous types. Make sure you are in reasonably good shape before embarking on this hike, there are some sections involving chain rope climbs and rock scrambles as you approach the summit.
My friend and I completed the Ronny Creek - Marion's Lookout - Cradle Summit - Hansons Peak - Dove Lake Circuit yesterday and were treated to near-perfect hiking conditions.
Ben Baldwin — Google review
Very pleasant day trip at Cradle Mountain. We did the Crater Lake walk which was relatively straightforward and easy. Some inclines and descents but nothing too strenuous. Great day trip if you are staying near Launceston.
There is a 10-15m shuttle from the car park that takes you to various stop off points (visitor centre, etc) and ends at the Cradle Mountain hikes. After your hike you can shuttle back to the car park. Relatively busy but not too crazy even though we were there during the holidays. Once we got out on the hike it got much quieter too.
Had our eyes out for wombats, unfortunately didn't see any, but still plenty of critters and birds around. It was quite a hot morning so I imagine most were seeking shade.
Alex Frankis — Google review
Absolutely stunning! We didn't have enough time to hike Cradle mount itself (for fear of missing the last shuttle) so instead we walked the Crater Lake loop. Lots of stairs, beautiful lakes, rainforest, open plains and spectacular views.
Riahnne Kelly — Google review
What a majestic mountain and must-see Tasmanian attraction! The temperamental weather makes for many adventure opportunities. Over the years I've seen sunshine, rains, winds, snow and more sweep across Cradle. Always come prepared! There are plenty of ways to tailor your walking routes based on the conditions. The Dove Lake circuit is by far the easiest, but I love the view and challenge of Cradle, Marion's Lookout and Hanson's Peak. The last time I visited we were lucky to stay in Scout Hut. Definitely pack light for the Hut, and don't expect reception or wifi, but enjoy the smog covered surrounds as you sleep in the clouds! The information centre has been renovated in recent years and is great to stop by on your way up and down.
Jessie Schilling — Google review
Absolutely stunning. Luckily had fantastic weather. Was only planning on doing the short walks, but 5 hours & two numb feet later, I was so stoked with how the day turned out. It's very easy to turn left instead of right and you are guaranteed to get rewarded for your efforts. The landscapes change in an instant. I saw all ages on the walks, but the steep parts ARE steep, with plenty of uneven ground. However, take your time, ask questions of the other hikers (always got some helpful info) and carry at least one big water bottle minimum.
Purchase a park pass ($26 for an adult), leave your car at the visitor centre and catch the shuttle that's available at all the stops every 15 minutes.
Also, I was lucky enough to see the quadfecta of animals; A wombat, echidna, snake (sleeping) and some wallabies.
Definitely factor Cradle mountain in when visiting Tassie.

Our one-night stay at the hotel was absolutely fantastic! The staff at the concierge, bar, and restaurant were so attentive and friendly, providing us with seamless and top-notch service.
The vibe all around was fantastic, offering spots to hang out and have a blast with friends and family. Oh, and they even threw in a pool table for some extra fun! 🎱🎉
We had a blast at the dinner and breakfast buffet – it was a real culinary adventure! However, here's a little food for thought: the hotel could spice things up even more by expanding the à la carte menu to make sure all our vegetarian pals feel just as pampered. 🍽️🌱
What really stood out was that the hotel had EV charging available. Since we were cruising in a Tesla, this was a major help and convenience for us. 🔌🚗
Oh, and by the way, in the Cradle Mountain area, only Telstra and Optus seem to have mastered the art of mobile network coverage. So, we became best buddies with the hotel's WiFi, even though it played a bit hard to get in the quality department. 📶😕
Well, our bathroom also had a surprise guest – a spider! I guess that's just our forested hotel's way of saying, "Welcome to our cozy critter club!" 🕷️
Overlooking these minor hiccups, we had a thoroughly enjoyable stay and may consider extending our visit for more days in the future.

The bus drivers are very friendly and Knowledgable.
Purchase your park pass and you can catch the bus to different locations to start your walk. It was about $52 for 2 adults which included the bus. There’s a small cafe which you can purchase snacks, pies, sausage rolls and drinks. There are toilet facilities at Dove lake and the information center.

An amazing place for hikes. There is a shuttle bus service from the information centre to different locations that run every 15-20mins. Beautiful scenery and well established trails. Would definitely recommend and will be back again.

This is a must-see whilst visiting Tasmania. If you have time, slow down and stay at least two nights to give you plenty of time to do the hikes and explore the mountain. The Dove Lake Circuit is lovely but note there are still many steps to climb (allow 2.5 - 3 hours to do this walk). If you are in a hurry, you could just head to the Boat Shed (10 minutes from start of walk) and then to head to Glacier Rock (another 10 minutes).

Lovely wildlife sanctuary dedicated to Tasmanian devils and quolls. Loved the day feeding tour as it was very informative and after the talks you were able to wander around and explore the different enclosures by yourself. We went in the late afternoon (post cradle mountain walks) and found it to be the perfect way to finish off the day.

I was so pleasantly surprised! A must go to after spending the day in Cradle Mountain. We went here in the evening to catch the Devil Feeding session (which also included quoll feeding) and a very educational talk on both endangered species. Very much worth the time and great to learn about all the great conservation efforts they are involved with.

What a treat this was! We booked in for the 5:30 pm feeding which was perfect because it finished before it got dark, allowing us to get back to our accommodation with out any issues. The staff were so friendly and accommodating. We got there early and were pleased to hear that Sanctuary entry was included in our tour ticket. It was great to see the tour guide - Dave - adjust the tour footprint to allow for maximum accessibility for wheelchair users.

Definitely come here. The conservation efforts of the staff are to be commended, and they were all really friendly, knowledgeable and only too keen to answer question and were genuinely caring and appreciative of guests coming in and actually caring enough to stop-by.
Great to see the devils, as the chances of seeing in the wild are slim to none. They also have eastern and spotted tail quolls, both of which are worth seeing and learning about their plight in the wild.
If you love small cute things and wildlife come here. Day Keeper Rory took us on a very comprehensive tour and was clear and easy to understand and super friendly.
We also booked the Joey encounter, which again, was super cute and our guide was very personally invested, sharing how she hand raises the variety of joeys under her care, and keeping them with her 24/7 as she goes about her chores and errands.

We attended at the sanctuary on 1 January 2024 for a day entry and keeper tour. The facilities were really amazing.
Our zoologist tour guide showed us around the centre and his educational tour was really informative as to the complexities of the devils breeding, and the circumstances surrounding their decline into being declared at risk of extinction.
We also enjoyed seeing the spotted tail and eastern quall and his obvious affection for them was wonderful to see
should we ever be in the area again we will definitely come back for another tour

This was the best thing we did! So the feeding because as part of this you get a guide tour and talk from extremely knowledgeable staff who are very passionate about their work.

This was an awesome experience, and our first opportunity to learn about Tasmanian Devils, Quolls (which we didn't know much about until coming here!), the threats they face in the wild and what we are doing to help them out.
The keepers were incredibly friendly and educational. The animals were pretty active considering their normally nocturnal behavior, and we would highly recommend making a stop here if you want to learn anything about Devils or Quolls, or get an opportunity to see them at close.
Austin Hamilton — Google review
We went to the feeding time tour and it was fantastic. Well worth the money, super informative, went for 90 mins, and we saw heaps of different Devils and Quolls eating various bits of animals. The keeper actually picked up one of the young ones she had hand reared and it was very cute. Great facility, but if it’s raining and cold bring a wet weather jacket!
Rob Aubin — Google review
We love wildlife parks and as far as they go this is one of the better ones. The enclosures were excellent, very spacious and lots of places for the critters to explore or hide.
Because it is close to Cradle Mountain it is a little more pricey than other similar parks that we visited but still well worthwhile.

Great place to get to know and see Tasmanian Devils and Quolls. They breed them here. Great talk by keeper who hugged a devil to her chest (she had raised it). Not recommended to try yourself. This is a totally majestic place, nice walking tracks, picnic areas with tables, barbecue place and public toilets. You might get lucky and see platypus at the river banks. The place have a lovely rain forest vibe.
There is onsite car park. In general it is a lovely place and a perfect destination for family outings.
I highly recommend visiting this place for anyone who visit Burnie, it is really beautiful.

Fern Glade Reserve is less than 4ks from the centre of Burnie. We went with a family friend, he was kind enough to share this secret gem with us while we were visiting. The perfect riverside walk is both a tranquil oasis, and a local treasure. We parked pretty close to the entry to give privacy to others and found a shaded spot on the soft grass to watch the water, listen to the local birds and look for bubbles caused by platypus in the river.
There is an easy, beginner, level track that takes you through the shady tranquility of soft tree-ferns.
There are a great offering of good picnic facilities, such as fixed table and benches which were being highly utilised. A really lovely spot for a cook up, escape from the busy hours of the day and enjoy a peaceful relaxing stroll.
We didn’t spot any platypus, however, apparently you may have more luck in the early morning or dusk.
We visited at 2pm-ish. Lovely for a snooze by the water and watching out of bubbles in the water.
No dogs.
No feeding ducks and or hens.

Google states that the reserve closes at 5:30pm, however there was a sign that said it closes at sunset which gave us more time than we thought. Plenty of car parking spaces. You have a unique opportunity to see platypuses. We have seen one. Take a moment to admire this beauty.
And there is definitely a dragon living here too. This place is a source of power and immortality. All you need to do is believe in it with all your heart.
Just believe in magic

Not really close time if you park the car at the car park and take a walk around 450m to the track. Luckily, we spotted 1 platypus on the river.

I should state first off that the “easy” walk to the best spots for platypus spotting might mean different things to different people.
My more physically able partner was up for it and he is nudging 70. (Grumble grumble I’m not 69 yet … well in three days then.). But for those of us with a medical condition the slope was a bit much. So yes, easy for 99% of the population but just be aware that if you have limitations you should perhaps not rock up assuming you can do it.
This being said, I decided to park myself in a spot and stay. If I couldn’t get to the best spot … I would give it my best shot.
Word of advice to the custodians at this point. There are lots of picnic tables along the path. But they are set back from the water. Maybe some bench seats for those of us in for the long haul could just sit and be patient and watch the water.
My patience - and wobbly legs - were rewarded. I DID see a platypus, less than 100m from the carpark. I tried to signal my other half quietly to call him over. But the movement was enough to send our ornithorhynchus off in a flurry of silt.
I am definitely the tortoise out of our tortoise and hare partnership. But I won the race today!
We also had a visit from a sweet little visitor too, and he seemed to quite like being talked to.
I am about to head back to the car and the motel … but wait … there are some intriguing bubbles ….

Yes, there're more than one wild platypus! We were so lucky to see 2! Such a cutie. I presume this is pure luck as I've been to a dedicated platypus viewing platform in QLD 3 times and never seen one. Highly recommend this place, as is still considered as a nice and quiet short stroll, suitable for all ages. BTW, Google search shows the wrong opening time.

Didn’t see a platypus but we really enjoyed the reserve, lots of interesting bird life and well maintained tracks.
This 11-hectare garden offers rhododendrons & other plantings, plus water features & a tea room.
Magnificent multicultural gardens which have been run by volunteers for 40 years, amazing fact! No such thing as a bad photo here. The garden is breathtakingly beautiful. The rhododendrons spectacular. My favourite part was the Japanese 🏯 garden & all the lovely lakes. You will be bathed in translucent colour and reflection. A must see whilst visiting Tasmania, our island paradise.

Pleasant morning with nature! I visited with my wife and 2yr old. Keen to see the platypus and wildlife. I'm open to nature and really enjoyed the gardens generally, worth seeing. The lakes were nice and we did see some ripples of the platypus but hard to see much. Saw lots of wallabies too! All round nice family place. Thanks

Little garden where discover new plant and part of Asians culture with this gazebo for the main countries. Very well kept by volunteers that I have to thank for this amazing job!!!

What an amazing place - beautiful setting and lovely staff. Show off platypus (couldn’t get a photo)! Many choices of pathways. Took low mobility mum and she was able to do the lake loop and well placed seats allowed us to stop and enjoy the scenery. Even better was teen enjoyed the walk and views to photograph. Thanks for a lovely day!

Alan took us around on a buggie which was super helpful since the grounds are a bit uneven and there are some steeper hills. There were such a great variety of plants and flowers. Even some platypus in the lake! The tea house was also worth a stop. They have tea and scones which were delicious and the staff were all so friendly.

probably the best thing to do in burnie! in my opinion 😎 the entry fee is $15 per person and there’s volunteers in the tearoom that will help you pay. if not you can put money in through the door. there are platypus here that i was able to watch for 20mins in the pond out by the deck of the main building. loved all the gardens. really beautiful and the rhodo’s weren’t even really out when i went!!

Just beautiful and a peaceful environment.
Lucky enough to see the platypus and other wildlife.
Look forward to visiting in spring to see all the flowers bloom

World class gardens, pram accessible paths (but a bit steep at times for wheelchairs), lovely friendly volunteers and even gluten free toasties on the menu.

Great place for exercise. The hills and long paths make for a very good workout. It has beautiful views and has great areas for relaxing aswell. You can have lunch or tea and scones at the restaurant.

Amazing location, a hidden gem in outer Burnie. So relaxing just walking around the property, platypus watching and finishing with coffee and scones.

When you are in Burnie , definitely visit this Garden. Beautiful,Serene and well marked and maintained garden to walk around and explore!!

It's such a nice garden with lots of sections to view. Probably would take about an hour if you go around slowly. It's very picturesque but I guess it'd be nicer if you come in autumn or spring. There's a buggy car service. This place is run by volunteers. There's also a tea house here. It's $15 for adult entry. There's also a yearly pass/host pass.
The Makers' UTAS, located in Burnie, Tasmania, is a must-visit destination for art enthusiasts and those interested in traditional crafts. The workshop offers an engaging paper-making tour where experts use unique local fibers such as wombat poo, apple pulp, and rainforest leaves to create handmade paper using traditional methods. Visitors can explore the information center to gather details about various attractions in the area and enjoy a bite at the on-site cafe.
Information centre has plenty of information you can pickup on the different places you can visit while you're in Tassie. There is also a cafe you can have a bite to eat and the bit we enjoyed the most was all the hand made crafts you can see and buy. You may also have the chance to speak to the artist directly. Highly recommend you pop in.

Kids throughly enjoyed the paper making tour inside. Learnt alot and even dicided to purchase a paper making kit after the tour. Our tour guide was full of knowledge about all things paper. Would recomend if your in the area and if the weather is not great, as was our case, perfect indoor activity. Also has art work and various other stores.

Made paper, looked at restored coal loader made in Burnie. Little penguins are located by board walk. Local artists display their art. Very interesting.
Water descends a series of rock steps at this natural attraction, with picnic spots & trails nearby.
Delightful spot to visit. Clean car park with toilet amenities. Picnic tables and bench seating. Clean gas BBQ's undercover with more picnic tables also. Small creek running next to this area. Follow the well maintained track for about 5 minutes walk along a small brook until you reach the falls. Plenty of spots to sit and admire the falls. Or if you have kids who can swim, relax and they will be occupied for hours.
Phil Hardimon — Google review
A very beautiful spot. The waterfalls are spectacular and there are 2 fantastic picnic spots.
Warwick Coghlan — Google review
Super cute set of waterfalls that we found on google. My kids and I love trying to find waterfalls and walking to them. This one had two super easy access options. A little walk or drive to the top and an almost flat walk down to the falls. Very pretty
Jess Casey — Google review
Such a marvel of a waterfall! Carpark is essentially at the falls so very limited walking required. The cascading waterfalls are simply brilliant! Came early on a weekday and I had the waterfalls all to myself!!
Victor — Google review
Wow!! This is well worth the slight detour off the main road. Be careful on the walk as it is easy to slip if the path is wet. Worth doing the walk to get up close!
Zoe-lea Whiting — Google review
Quick visit, nice spot with steps down to access the falls/river. There were people in the water under the falls that looked fun. Toilets a bit rustic, and a pick nick area down by the river.

A very beautiful waterfall! Just a short ten mins walk to get to the falls. It can get busy on weekends/public holidays since it's so accessible (very close to burnie). There are public toilets here too. Saw some people bring their dogs here.

Nice fall from the bottom and I was so surprised when walking up and seeing the fall from the top. Only a small stream can bi the source of the fall. Just a short walk or u can drive directly to the top and walk down a bit to see bottom view.

Easy access at either top or bottom of falls, pleasant walk. Easy to get very close, but rocks can be slippery.
Scott Boucher — Google review
A short walk along a well surfaced path takes you to the falls which are really beautiful. About 15 meters high and quite broad. Definitely worth visiting.
Christian Noll — Google review
Nice and pretty falls, good bbq/picnic area. Reasonably close to town an easy 15-20mins drive. While the stairs are steep the pathway is good. The reason for 4 stars is while nice, there really was only the one waterfall with no other associated walking tracks or other areas to explore. If you’re in Burnie it’s worth a visit.
Jason Bradley — Google review
It's serene place with huge waterfall.... No doubt it's so highly rated place.. it's very close from the Burnie. Or you can cover this whilst on the way Back from cradle mountain to Devonport. Don't miss it.
Nikhil Dalal — Google review
Very few car parking spaces at either the top or bottom of the falls.
If you walk along the pathway next to the falls, you need to be able bodied. If you are in a wheel chair then only the top is accessible from a viewing platform.
If the river is in full flood then beware taking the riverside walk.
Ray Collins — Google review
Drive up past the toilet block to the top car park for best view.
Easy (downhill) path to viewing area from top carpark.
With mobility issues the track up from the bottom carpark is very difficult.
Had rained steadily for the previous 2 days.
Deborah Goodwin (Silasozzie) — Google review
A beautiful waterfall, only 5mins walk from the lower carpark. You can cool off in the water below and relax
Great views and well restored and maintained lighthouse.
Well worth the visit.
T atts — Google review
If you’re on the highway between Bernie and Stanley make sure you take this little detour, it’s like only 5minutes or so off the highway. Apart from the gorgeous views there is a little walk between the lookout and lighthouse, so don’t be lazy, it’s worth doing, park at either the lookout or lighthouse and take a stroll. Under 20 mins walk each way.
Jason Adams (Jase) — Google review
Lovely walk from Lighthouse to Table Cape much more relaxing than driving between the 2! 20min stroll each way even dallying to snap photos. Path being upgraded so safe for anyone other than true tearaways. One pitch up/down to take care but I am not fitness freak and enjoyed it!!

We stopped here to checkout the lighthouse before going around to the lookout to enjoy the views. You can have a tour of the lighthouse if your there at the right time. You may want to enjoy the short walk from either if you like to park at one and walk to the other. There are picnic tables at each site if you like to stop for lunch or a snack and enjoy the view.

Love visiting the light house. It's better when the volunteers have it open and tell you the amazing history behind it. Little grave of a young child who passed away long ago who was living there with his parents just metres from the lighthouse.
The views are awesome from the top.
Nice walk along the path from the light house to the carpark look out.
So much history to be told from the area including Wynyard. Beautiful views of the ocean and also the gorgeous tulips straight across the way.
It's a must to visit when in Tasmania or if your just visiting from the South. ☺️🌷❤️
Boat Harbour Beach is a coastal township located roughly 15 km from Wynyard on the north-west coast of Tasmania. It is situated in the Boat Harbour locality, and according to the 2011 census, it had a population of 429. Visitors can take a scenic coastal route from here to Stanley which takes around two hours, providing fantastic views of white sandy beaches and refreshing ocean breezes.

Worthy of a look, it's a good walk to get down to to the fall we went to, be careful as it is quite steep and if you're not sure footed could lead to a slip.
Great scenery though.

This is amazing! A stunning waterfall right in the centre of town! No walking required. We parked at the Bischoff Hotel and walked across the road for an awesome view of the falls. You can also go to the other side and park in the carpark and walk down for a better view.

Wonderful little town that we stopped at for breakfast before heading to cradle mountain friendly people everywhere and the local pub was nice.

Excellent country road trip to Waratah, easy to find, and a lovely Tasmanian country town. Lots of amazing local history and excellent historical museums.
There is a fenced off paddock near the Falls, but the best viewing is very limited. You're better off driving a few hundred meters up the road to the viewing area opposite the local Pub. The view, although distant, is spectacular.

Nice waterfall in a cute small village of waratah you can get food and drinks from the local petrol station and the falls can be viewed from above just across the road from the Bischoff hotel nice place for pub grub and a drink the hotel also has accomodation also you can do a short walk down to the bottom of the falls definitely worth it.
Loved the chairlift and the perimeter walk. If you want something a bit less challenging I’d recommending going clockwise as counter clockwise has >100 steps. Other than that look outs and wild life were amazing
Courtney Boyd — Google review
Steep walk to the mountain but after coming to the top it's flat and easy walk and then we can take a 2 km circuit loop track to go via 4 lookouts if u have time. Depends on the wind direction, choose the right first or via versa. It's worth going.
Linh Le — Google review
This is great walk if your are in the area. It is steep from the case park to the top. Called the "Zig zag", it is about 450m from the car park to the top. There is a chairlift to the top but where is the fun in that? All paved and some hand rails. Take a bunch rests, enjoy the wonderful views as you go. At the top, there is a walk around the nut. This walk is fairly easy, well marked with some undulation but nothing like getting to the top. Sensational views in all directions. Some interesting facts on the way for kids. Takes about 1 hour all up. Take your time going down. You could easily get a head of steam up on the decline and hurt yourself.
Craig Coffey — Google review
Stanley the quintessential, off the Beaton track, town you might go to if not just to say ‘I’ve been there’ but to experience old work charm and the views are impressive from The Nut and up where the Stanley Historic House is.
Wish we could have stayed a couple of nights we only did a day trip.
Would be a perfect place to go to unwind for a time.
Colleen — Google review
🌰The Nut is very steep. Walk slowly, you can still arrive! It's not hard at all - the beauty of each place is always changing - the roads are actually very well paved. The sea view from Nut is actually very beautiful - if you come to Stanley, you must visit🙂
Yo澳小記事 — Google review
The walk is a bit hard but not unduly so with lovely views and the reward is the wonderful 360 degree view of Stanley and Ocean.
Ross Daniels — Google review
You can either go up & down on the chairlift for $19 or one way for $12. We decided to walk up which was steep. At the top, there is a path on which you can walk around checking out all the beautiful views from every angle. We came down on the chairlift which was short but fun. Cafe and toilets located at the bottom and ample car parking. Drove a few hours to get here and it was well worth it!
Liisa Grace Baun — Google review
We loved Stanley and the chairlifts up The Nut and the walk around the top. So scenic across the ocean and interesting history. Great lunch at the hotel.
Julie Irwin — Google review
A spectacular view throughout the walk up & down and at the multiple vantage points at the summit.
When they say steep, they mean steep, so the chairlift is always a good option when operating.
Once at the summit the ~2km circuit provides undulating walking trails with varying surfaces.
There's also seats along the way to either rest or just take in the views.
Being exposed to the elements, the weather can change quickly, so best be prepared.
Greg Maunder — Google review
Fantastic panoramic views.
Steep 430m path or chairlift (if open) $12
Walking poles made the climb easy.
Easy walk track around the top offers different view points.
Jefferis St Clair — Google review
We’ll worth the steep hike up. Chairlift was not operating when we visited but that’s an easier option if you’re not a fan of steep climbs. Great views from the top and the trail around The Nut is an easy walk.
Alana Freeman-Angove — Google review
Wonderful place. The views were amazing however there was really strong wind. Definitely bring a jacket. Ride the chairlift not the “short, steep walk”.
Jayden Lee — Google review
We came up on the chair lift which definitely saved the calf muscles, it’s a steep walk, especially if you’ve just had a lunch of the areas fine seafood. The walk at the top circumnavigates the nut with some very special views in all directions of the compass along the way, it’s mostly exposed has regular seating and although there are some stairs on the fairly
Well maintained path it’s an easy walk. Well worth coming up here, a must do if your in Stanly.

Highfield Historic Site is a meticulously restored representation of a gentleman's house and farm from the 1830s, offering stunning views over Godfreys Beach and the Nut. The site features a Regency house, convict barracks, stables, chapel, and an immaculate ornamental garden. Visitors can explore the rooms filled with remnants, furniture, and artifacts on a self-guided tour.
Even a wild windy, wet day in Stanley seemed to only add to the nostalgia of Highfield House. Wonderful snapshot of Tasmanian history. Gorgeous grounds and beautiful historic house. Worth a visit.

Beautifully kept historic site. Such a lovely visit seeing how well this property has been preserved.
Mostly accessible by stroller, (except for upstairs main house area) you need larger wheels to get around on the gravel pathways outside.

An interesting place. Agree $20 entry fee a little over the top, but the $2 charge for the 110 metre forest slide is a bargain and a great ride, regardless of your age. Found the swamp interesting and the information boards educational. The 1600 metres of boardwalks takes about an hour to navigate. Although we saw pademelons we did not see any Tasmanian devils.
peter spooner — Google review
In a group of 4 we arrived early. Firstly the loos are fab. Modern, and loos with a view!! We decided not to go down the slide after much deliberation. There was lots of ash in the air, and we were told it might be a slow ride down. So we headed down the path leading to the bottom. A great walk, and very impressed with the maintenance of the trails.
We belong to a Field Nat. group so spend a lot of time in this type of environment. However we enjoyed it, and with our little knowledge of plants etc we found lots of interesting things. I think this is a wonderful and safe way for people who want to enjoy the beautiful Australian bush. We watched a few coming down the slide and they loved it. So all in all a lovely day out. Just one tiny comment. We have read all the reviews and didn't know what to expect re staff etc. However we went with open minds & really just took care of ourselves, so had little interaction.
anthony gilston — Google review
Modern and well presented entrance and cafe. We had some nice soup that unfortunately came with a stale bread roll. The slide ride to the bottom was good fun. Well set out maze board walks amongst the pretty rain forest, although were very slippery in areas (a bit of chicken wire would help with grip) and generally needed a bit more up keep (removal of branches from walk ways, cleaning of signs, fixing broken seats). Great view from the loo.
Allison Mckenzie — Google review
We went 28 April 2017 and found it very expensive for a walk in the forest we had to negotiate ourselves- $20 each !! And an additional $2 a ride each for the slide. Boardwalk was very slippery and even with walking boots we still fell.Nothing to see most of the time , the exhibits are old ,hidden and not interesting. I brought people from Melbourne here but definitely wouldn't recommend it to anyone else. Also children have to be 8 to go on the slide - info we only found out when we arrived. It was boring, expensive and definitely dismal. A long drive from Wynyard to a disappointing place and as a Tasmanian resident I was humiliated.
Pam Wilson — Google review
Cool scenery and great information. Going down the slide hurt your neck though and it wasn't very enjoyable. When we came out at the bottom we enjoyed looking at the information signs and plants. Long hike back up to the car park and cafe area though. Good day trip.
S H — Google review
I would not even give this 1 star. It is overpriced. $20 to walk around a forest or swamp. Tasmania is full of national parks which are free. Walked in, the most miserable man behind the counter. He needs training in people skills. Have never had such a surly man. The slippery dip was good. However they should change the pricing. $2 to get in and $10 for the slide. I doubt very much whether anybody would buy anything from the shop given the unfriendly service we received. We would not even give them the satisfaction of buying an ice cream. . I love tassie but not this place
helen bill — Google review
A good place to bring young kids, educational for them and will fill in time. Reminiscent of an Alice in Wonderland theme with meandering boardwalks, abstract art, surreal sculptures and odd and random signs reading "look up" and "sit here". For adults with even a basic knowledge of forests and natural sciences/geology, this experience is not worth the $20 entry fee.
Joanna James — Google review
Good fun to be had on the slide, and the walks were interesting and educational. The walk back up can be a challange (it's a clear and wide path, but long and steep) however all worth the effort. As it was off season, the cafe was limited so we did not use it and cannot rate that.
Great tour. Awesome to get up close to the wind farm, lovely morning tea and toilet stop and Cape Grim was spectacular. Laura was very knowledgeable and shared the local history with us. Well worth the cost and effort if up in North West Tassie.

Learnt a lot on this tour, it was also suitable for our kids who paid attention. The morning tea biscuits were awesome. Would have liked to look inside / find out more about cape grim air monitoring which is of personal interest, I understand it's not open to the public and not associated with the tour operator, still it would be good if they could do a display / video.
Alison G. — Google review
What a tour! Definitely in our top 5 tours in Tasmania! Laura is an absolute wealth of knowledge. I'm not sure what we were hoping to learn about, to be honest. All I knew was that I wanted to see the 'edge of Tassie' and the dramatic coastline from high up.
What we learnt, however, was so much more and in such a diverse range of topics. Wind farms, sheep farming, cattle farming, indigenous history, air quality, etc... absolutely incredible.
We went on an absolutely awful day, weather wise, and we're glad to enjoy most of the trip in the nice warm bus. I'm not sure if it was luck or skill, but Laura timed our 'get out and see' moments perfectly - missing the rain!
I absolutely recommend this incredible, private access only, one of a kind tour to this remote area of Tassie.

Laura is an amazing guide. There is so much she knows about this part of the island. Her deep connection gave us new perspectives.
I had been a bit unsure before we booked this tour…but was encouraged by the comments from others. We absolutely encourage any unsure to join this tour.
The beauty and spirituality of temdudheker has to be experienced. Highly recommended. Thanks Laura.

One of the BEST tours I have ever been on. (We even saw a Tasmanian Devil run across the road). Laura is so knowledgeable, experienced and friendly it is amazing. Thankfully her tour company has a great relationship with the owner of Woolnorth and it's because of this the general public have access to this remarkably productive farmland. Without this relationship the public could not access Cape Grim. Laura took over the business from her mother and her knowledge is boundless and quite freely imparted. Laura is assisted by her young protegy Henry, who was a delight to share the tour with as well.
If you only take one tour in Tassie, make it this one. If you're doing more make sure to include this. Real love and passion for what's being shown is quite rare these days, but it's present in spades here. Thank you Laura.

Amazing experience learning about the history of cape grim, the wind farm and the dairy farms! Laura's an amazing tour guide! Highly recommended! View was spectacular and the air was as clean as air can be!

Seeing the windfarm was good. The boring slow pace of the bus was bad. The not used woolshed was erh. The view and fresh air at Cape Grim were terrific. Seen hundreds of cows in the paddock. What was truly bad was having to listen to the 2 women sitting in the front seat beside Laura spoilt the trip.

Laura was extremely knowledgeable and shared balanced information about the wind farms, the history and current farming use of the area.
Great to see places off limits to the public and plenty of time to take in the views.
Would recommend.

This was our first day and first tour in Tasmania. What a cracking way to start our time. Really interesting and informative.

There is only one reasons to visit Cape Grim. The scenery is just spectacular. Well there is another reason, if you just want to tick the accessible most western point of Tasmania off your list.
Unfortunately it ends there. Cape Grim can only be accessed joining the Woolnorth tour. Fair enough, it's private property. The tour guide however was far below par. It was a two hour biased, selective and at times incorrect school teacher lecture about wind farming, sheep shearing and location history imaginable if one could actually hear her over the rattle of the tour bus on the gravel road. I'm sure the two people sitting on the front seat next to the driver were very interested. They were probably the only ones who could actually hear it if they weren't asleep half way down the track already. (PS: Why lecture about sheep farming, there are no sheep there and haven't been for a long time.)
I would give five stars for the scenery even though it was raining, but sorry tour guide, that wasn't good enough.
I went on the Arthur River Reflections cruise today. Emma and Caitlyn were greacious hosts. There was heaps of delicious food. The rainforest walk was informative and just the right length. Well done girls. Money well spent.

Fantastic Arthur River cruise! Rob was great. Lots of great things to see up and down the river. Highlights were the bush walk and seeing the sea eagles capture their meals only metres away from our boat. Lots to see and learn.

With Paul at the helm & Caitlyn as hostess, one could not ask for a better relaxing informative day on the river. A beautiful walk followed a delicious barbecue lunch at Warra landing were all part of the experience. Highly recommend this lunch cruise!

We were delighted with this cruise, well worth a visit. Rob is extremely knowledgeable about the local flora and fauna. He and Kaye are friendly, fantastic people. As an aspiring photographer this is the cruise to go on. Lots of photo opportunities with sea eagles and the elusive azure kingfisher. Lunch was fantastic and the ingredients were fresh, well prepared and served hygenically. The accommodation at their holiday units was clean and well equipped. If you make a trip down here Rob and Kaye are the people to go with.
Operated by a family, cruise run by 2 sisters. Cant rate u highly enough. 10 out of 10. Awesome day, great bbq and highly recommended. A must do. Well worth eveything

a lovely small group cruise. The crew were very friendly. Lovely bbq lunch. Got to see Sea Eagles catch fish. Overall I'd highly recommend

A gorgeous day out on the river . The family are passionate about the area and are very informative. Great BBQ lunch. Heaps of food. You can even go back for seconds, but one serve was definitely enough. Morning tea was served as soon as you board and on the way back you get to have Suellen's fantastic home baked fruitcake. Boris's commentary both on the boat and during the rainforest walk was very interesting and educational. He even gives a surprise entertainment act! Emma, his daughter is very helpful and has some interesting stories about past locals of her own to share.
Definitely worth doing!

This is a fantastic cruise. We were on the MV George Robinson. The rivers are beautiful. Going through pristine forests, with no development or other man made impacts. The family running the cruise were so friendly and informative. They shared knowledge and took time with everyone. Lunch was delicious with plenty of good food.
Important for us, it is kid friendly. They even let the boys steer the ship for a bit.
It is an affordable experience and if it is the scenery that you are there for this is a great option. The crew really enjoy their work and it shows in the way they make you feel.
Best experience so far on the trip.

We LOVED the white boat cruise. It was worth every cent. Commentary was great. Our hosts were very relaxed and knowledgeable. The scenery was nature's art, and lunch was absolutely delicious! 10/10. Not one complaint.

A small well run family business offering a tasty BBQ lunch with choice of wine. Our guides displayed a range of knowledge & the walk through the rainforest was quite informative. A must do if you go anywhere near Arthur River.

Pleasant cruise into Arthur River. Great morning tea and Cape Grim steak lunch. Would’ve been 5/5 if the nature guide was more knowledgeable and showed us around the magnificent temperate rainforests more (walked a dozen steps past the bbq area for our ‘nature walk’). He did say he didn’t normally lead this tour and the path has been damaged by the floods.

Fabulous just Fabulous...Boris and Emma are 🌟 🌟 they are very kind and helpful to all on board...nothing is too much. Their knowledge and passion for/of the river and all its nature is astounding. Food was great and the bbq in the bush so unique. I just loved it all...not to forget the grand old boat.

12 of us from the Solos Network motohome group had a wonderful day on the Arthur River Cruise. From the welcome as we stepped foot on the jetty to board the beautifully maintained Red Boat, right through to our departure, we felt like 'family'. Boris and Emma were an absolute wealth of knowledge on all things Arthur River, including the waterways, the flora and fauna, and the colourful characters who are part of local history. Boris is a mesmerising story teller who had us captivated, and to top it off, on the return trip, he and his mate serenaded us with banjo and harmonica-backed vocals. The bush walk provided an incredible lesson in rainforest flora, and returning to camp, we had a sumptuous BBQ lunch with homemade salads. Dessert was the best fruit cake I've had in my life, baked by Boris's wife. A stand-out tour, by a stand-out family. I'm available for adoption, Boris!!!

What a great day on the Arthur River in the Red Boat.
Although the weather was freezing, it didn't stop the team from spoiling us and engaging us in our surroundings!
Become a '1 percenter' of the tourist population that visits this lovely area and let all of your senses experience this little adventure.

MV GEORGE ROBINSON the red boat - a gorgeous vessel fitted out with Tassie timber and brass. This lovely vessel has been plying the Arthur river for 37 years. She's got a heart of gold and a crew to match. Emma, our skipper, & Kaitlyn were the best! Their information & service was pure gold.
We were welcomed onboard at 9:45 am and within no time it was 3 pm. How time flies when you are enjoying your day. Our lunch, a BBQ at Turks Landing, was great. Turks Landing is pretty special and Kaitlyn was a wealth of knowledge and interesting knowledge too.
The river is so serene (and deep). But the stars of the show, the white bellied sea eagles, did not disappoint. We had the opportunity to see them fed twice. What an amazing bird! Their nest was massive and clearly visible from the boat. The nest is 50 years old, hence its size, and it is quite impressive to see.
Thank you to Arthur River Cruises for an unforgettable day on the Arthur River. You went above and beyond to make sure our day was special.

Stunning views overlooking the rock and plenty of driftwood which made for some great photos. Wild wilderness nature at its best! We also took the first right after the bridge and got some amazing photos of the rock from the end of the street. Well worth it if you like your photography.

What an Experience is the Edge of the World on a blustery rainy day!!
The bridge is quite tight for a 50 seater coach but doable with care! The toilets are excellent as the cold wind streaming in reminds you that you might need to go!!
The small poem by Brian Inder is an Excellent touch (Wonderful man, Greatly missed in Taz )

A good little stop near Arthur River where the wild sea meets the coast line.
It's a short drive a a maintained dirt road, with a spacious car park, equipped with toilet and picnic area.
A boardwalk out to the lookout and a easy stroll to the plaque.

Very windy always. Easy board walk out to the sign.
Public toilets and plenty of parking
Sue Ross — Google review
It's a little underwhelming tbh. A lot of wilderness so if that's your thing you can come by but I personally wouldn't recommend you coming all the way just to see it, as there are a lot of other attractions in Tasmania that are just as beautiful/much more beautiful and are a lot more accessible. But if you're just around the area, it's a good place to drop by, there are toilets available here too.

A well cared for lookout and toilets on the roughest looking coastal bay on the northwest coast of Tasmania in the Tarkine. It’s in the Arthur River Conservation Area and you can buy permits as you enter/ exit the settlement area. Very windy conditions can be had

Great views around the rugged coastline. Good clean toilets and RV dump point. No camping allowed

Visited at sunset and it was spectacular!! Well worth the windy conditions and incredible to be in such a remote part of the world.

What an incredible feeling. Standing at a lookout looking out into the Southern Ocean with huge waves and the most beautiful coastline. We've been back to watch the sun set over the ocean. Stunning!
It is a short drive from Arthur River with a short section of dirt road (under a kilometre). There are toilets & a dump point for RVs, a picnic shelter, and obviously the lookout.
The carpark is quite roomy for a few cars.
Jabinda Joey — Google review
So easy to get to and very little walking to look out over this truly magnificent coastline and take a photo with the plaque "Edge of the world". Very nice toilets too
Rebekah Debrey — Google review
Wild & woolie when we went in Augusta with north westerlies blowing. Toilet facilities but a drop toilet system. Wooden board walks to lookout over the Arthur River. Heaps of large driftwood logs, seems a waste. Arthur River is very tannin stained which coloured the water on an outgoing tide. Plenty of parking. No overnight stays.

Absolutely fantastic place. It is a little far to go to so make a trip of it and visit a couple of other places along the way.

Strongest wind I’ve ever experienced… even worse than that time my partner had a vindaloo.
Kirk Robinson — Google review
The access to the viewing area is accessible from the car park. Good views of the coast. The township needs a place to eat.
Rhi Brooks — Google review
Look it is worth visiting this spot if only to get the feel for how desolate it is with huge amounts of big driftwood piled up all over the shore line, but I would not want it to be the only reason I came out this far.
We ended up making it the first stop on a trip around the Tarkine Drive and as long as you also do that and pick out a few of the walks along the way such as Julius River and Lake Chisholm it will give you a much more worthwhile day out.
But take your lunch with you because there are not many feasible options for food along the way.
Ian Martin — Google review
So wild and rugged! Great to see the tannin rich fresh water of the Arthur River spew into the crystal blue saltwater at the mouth! All the fallen logs and the rocks and just so windy and rugged!

It was a long drive to get to this place but definitely worth it ..
Toilets are so outdated very dirty but that’s the only downside.. just be ready with lots of petrol ⛽️ cause people here sleeps early.. so hard to find 24 hours petrol..

It's a pretty cool point of interest here in Tasmania.
Easy drive, easy walk and access.
As you've come all this way to Arthur River, make sure you go here for the views ... and to experience the power of the Western wind. There's an interesting quote to read on the plaque by Brian Inder. It's all about a pebble.
It's a feel good moment to know you're on the most northwestern point of Tasmania.
Raelene G — Google review
Amazing views of the where the Arthur River flows into the ocean carrying huge logs from high in the mountains and gathering at the river mouth and foreshore. Spectacular place.
