Port Kembla Beach
Beach
Nature & Parks
Expansive sandy beach known for its surf waves, backed by dunes & a saltwater swimming pool.
It’s a great place for surfing, and it’s a dog beach. There were many cute adorable doggos and that was a great view 🤗.

Great place for a walk and enjoy some fresh air. Looks to be a good place to take your dog for a walk.
As a family of 4 with two kids (and no dogs) we decided to settle for another beach in Wollongong for a swim.

Blue skies for days. Couldn’t resist a dip at Port Kembla beach in Dharawal country. Water clear & blue again. Waves perfectly formed but with their force broken by a well-placed rocky outcrop. Would come back to snorkel around it.

A serene heavenly Mahayana temple. This place is really beautiful and calm in every way. There’s few places of worship inside.
Wearing long clothes advised as people with short tops or shorts are not allowed inside the worshipping places.
You can buy incense, flowers,
Candles, fruits as offerings.
It’s just beautiful place, a must visit.
Some of the stairs are under renovation.

Located just past Wollongong off the expressway. It is free to visit the temples and pagoda here and use the grounds to have a picnic or there is a vegetarian restaurant where you can get refreshments as well.
There is also a gallery and coffee shop across the walkway over the expressway with some nice areas to have a break.
Large landscaped grounds and pond.
Wheelchair accessible,toilets located throughout.

A calm a quiet place to enjoy for a few hours. Plenty of parking even on the weekend. Visitors are recommended not to wear shorts and sandals as a manner of respect.
Taking photos is not allowed indoors.

A truely peaceful and relaxing place to visit. Beautiful architecture and manicured gardens with numerous sculptures to gaze upon.
The whole experience was very serene and calming.
It was a great place to explore and I left feeling a sense of inner peace.
There is also a gift shop and food area which I recommend too.
I really wish I had visited sooner.
SARGES’ Family — Google review
The temple is maintained spotless. Had various areas on the temple to visit and the whole tour takes about 1 - 1.5 hours. You can also go to the top of the hill and ring the bell! As a Buddhist myself, I found it very calming and just like the temples back home.
Sachith Weligepola — Google review
Beautiful Temple!
Helpful team to answer questions on making offerings and rituals.
We took fruit that we washed and made offerings, we were told we can either leave or take to eat for blessings. We decided to eat as snacks while enjoying a walk through the gardens.
You can also purchase small gift sets of offerings to take home. Personally we loved the bracelets and the water in the sets, there was also some rice grains we will cook and eat.
Must visit this beautiful Temple, allow time as it can get busy on weekends.

Was our 3rd visit to the Temple and we always love walking around and admire the beautiful Temples and gardens. Went there for Chinese New Year. Was a wonderful experience. You can buy Vegetarian Food and beverages there. Definitely a place that is highly recommended to visit if you ever in the Wollongong area.

I suggest that better to go on weekdays not on the weekend . Definitely quieter than weekend and less busy n less tourists.
Exhibitions are good to visit to learn about temple as well. Highly recommended

Beautiful Monastery ❤️
This was my third visit and I can come over and over again whenever I come to Sydney/Wollongong. One of the best place to visit with friends and family. It’ll give you feeling of Japan! I guess 😁
And yes we got to witness the small event going on there, very satisfying 😌

This Buddhist temple complex in Berkeley is a serene and culturally rich place to visit. It has beautiful Chinese-inspired architecture with a palace, a museum, and prayer halls. The Japanese-style gardens are a lovely addition, and there's also the Nan Tien Institute of Higher Education on the premises.
If you're looking for a bite to eat, there's a Chinese cafe that serves traditional food. Don't miss trying their avocado drink; it's a unique treat.
This complex offers a peaceful and clean environment, making it a perfect spot for relaxation and contemplation. Just remember to dress appropriately as it's a religious place. It's a great destination for a meaningful and peaceful visit. 🌳☸️🏯

Great place to be, it's what you expected. The food are really good, if you're vegan or vegetarian, the choices will make you go crazy!! Highly recommended. Having said that, it's 4 stars instead of 5 because the quality of the services at restaurants are not great. They can't even tell what ingredients in the food. If you tell them your kids have allergies in certain food (for example peanut), their response was simply "it's best you don't have ANY of their food". This actually happened last week. One of the stall staff during the lunar new year event even just says, "if you're having Asian food, you should expect peanut in it!", which I also strongly disagreed. Anyway, hopefully there'll be improvement in the future.

This is an amazing place that I had wanted to visit for so long and I was so excited to be finally able to go. It was definitely worth the wait and the long drive. The layout was just beautiful and the atmosphere was so peaceful and serene. I firmly believe that as many people as possible should make the effort to visit and I am sure you wouldn’t regret it. 10/10.

Serene and well maintained temple in Wollongong. Plenty of parking lots available. Long stairs near the parking lot leads to the pagoda tower, there's a huge Gratitude bell at the back of the tower that one can be knock for luck. The main shrine has cafe at ground floor. There's university infront of the main shrine just a short walk across a bridge. There's also another cafe on the ground floor of the university.

Every time we come to visit it just makes you feel relaxed. The calligraphy drawing was fun and kids can get involved too.
Remember. This is a place of worship and alot of the temple and sculptures are sacred so have respect when walking around.
The little sayings from their master are great. Theyre hung up all around. And reading them just clicks with you sometimes
It's a beautiful place to visit. And there is alot to learn of you're willing to ask.

One of the most beautiful temples. Gives great positive vibes and so peaceful. Good places in and around too.
Missed the museum on my visit but may be next time.

Very peaceful place. They have three shrines and each one has different Buddha inside. I felt so calm after visiting

The largest Buddhist temple in Sydney. Found in the beautiful suburb of Wollongong, you'll find yourself in a place that promotes stillness and silence.
It's quite a large property you can roam freely on mindfulness. Visit the large pagoda where you can take calligraphy classes or make an offering to the Buddha. Walk up the grounds to the mindfulness bell and ring a sound for peace ✌🏾 nearby the Shakyamuni statue that sits above. Done at the Dew Drop Inn, eating light and refreshing vegetarian food full of love and flavors. All in all, be in the present moment and enjoy the surroundings, nature, and the presence of those you are with. Light and Aloha 🙏🏽🤙🏽

It’s totally different of Korean Buddhist temples. The ambience was like huge palaces. It takes a couple of hours to have a look. It’s really good to chill out and go for a walk.

Good easy trip from Sydney of about one hour drive. Recommend drive through stanwell park for amazing views and beach stops. Temple is great asian experience which makes you feel out of place in Australia. Food and surroundings are good as well.
Bharat Mekkanagadde — Google review
A must see... The whole place is so serene and the people are lovely. Word of warning if you wish to enter the temples, no thigh high skits or shorts that don't cover the knees. Also must wear closed toe shoes. Photos are not permitted inside the temple but the surrounding grounds are great for some beautiful pictures ...I bought a tea cup and some literature paraphernalia and my friend bought a partial tea set.. the latter can be cheap or expensive depending what you like but they have some beautiful pieces and teach you the art of tea ceremonies. I think they accept volunteers...maybe I'll see you there one day ...make a donation to support help support these lovely people

Such a beautiful place with spiritual vibes. You can easily spend 2-3 hours here on the way to Wollongong. Their vegan cafeteria has amazing food. Recommend dumplings and lotus tea.
Aastha Choudhary — Google review
I have visited this Buddhist temple several times, with my most recent visit being yesterday ⛩️
I attended their cultural festival held on various days in December. It was a delightful experience!
The festival featured especially vegetarian food options 🍜, captivating performances—mostly traditional Chinese dance—and an opportunity to explore different parts of the precinct. This included the Chinese gardens, the gratitude bell, the calligraphy hall, and the pagoda, among others.
The temple is impeccably maintained, making it a joy to visit whether alone, with family, or with friends.
Clàudia Turró — Google review
Parking was alright. Not too packed on a Sunday but it was also raining. Food hall was super packed during 2-3pm when we arrived. Food was average. I enjoyed touring the gift shop. Bracelets were starting at $10

Beautiful place, so peaceful and vibrant. The peaceful temple is surrounded by beautiful gardens and stunning grounds.
This popular blowhole along the coastline at Kiama Harbour can spray water up to 25m in the air.
This place is a common tourist attraction in south coast due to its historical background.
The local council in Kiama is doing a great job to maintain the beauty and cleanliness of the environment in this area.
I visited this place many times bringing relatives and friends from overseas.
The blowhole is a unique type of natural phenomenon that only the gravitical science can explain.
Its beautiful to watch during high tide.
If you are new to Sydney, don’t miss to visit Kiama lighthouse.
Kiar Muri — Google review
What a lovely spot. The blow hole is here too. You can see all up and down the coast from here. There are toilets, really good visitor centre with souvenirs and a cafe. I was here in off peak so wasn’t busy but imagine it would be in the holiday season.
Shez H — Google review
A beautiful scenic spot with a fabulous lighthouse and the added bonus of a famous blow hole!
The views from Kiama lighthouse are truly breathtaking, and they get even better if you're lucky enough to be there for sunset. You'll also see whales depending on the time of year (though you'll need binoculars).
There is loads of green space to sit on, as well as countless rock areas to crawl around and explore, and numerous benches to sit.
The blowhole is fun, but not that much of an attraction unless you're lucky enough to be there on a day where the sea is rough and active enough to get it off big and often. All of the areas around the blowhole are fenced off for safety reasons.
There is loads of parking available for free, which is a huge plus.
Duncan McArdle — Google review
I visited here on a weekday during the school holidays. It's a tourist spot. Parking is always full, but the wait time isn't that long to get a spot. There is plenty of green space too if you want to enjoy a picnic with spectacular views. There are toilets and a couple of places to grab something to eat. All within walking distance. The blowhole was shy the time I went, but from the previous times, it always puts on a show. Go on the rocks at your own risk.

Kiama is such a beautiful tranquil place to visit. As an early 80's baby I was born in Kiama hospital so I have a special bond with this gorgeous coastal town.
From the iconic terrace shops, to the Pink post office, Kiama lighthouse and the Kiama blowhole... it's the ultimate coastal town to visit.
While you are in Kiama ensure that you visit The Kiama Lolly and Gift shop plus the Visitors centre.
If it's good food you are after the Hungry Monkey never disappoints!

Great Spot for parking if you are visiting the Blow Hole. Kiama light house is well maintained. the view there is so beautiful and all you want to do is take a lot of photo sit down relax. great place for a picnic with kids.
Raymund — Google review
Beautiful location for a picnic. It’s got something for everyone from kids to families to youngsters to couples. Loved the walk to the waters edge through the rocks (closed toe shoes with good grip highly recommended). The blowhole was mesmerising. The area has ample parking and restaurants. Can easily spend a day walking around the area. Best done on a sunny day.
Jimit Patel — Google review
The Kiama lighthouse mountain area is a perfect winter getaway. The sunny days and clear skies make for stunning views of the mountains and the ocean. There are not much activities to enjoy, A small town atmosphere is charming and inviting.
Pros:
Amazing views
Perfect sunny winter weather
Plenty of activities to enjoy
Charming small town atmosphere
Cons:
Can be crowded during peak season
Some activities, such as hiking, can be challenging
Overall:
This is a great place to relax and enjoy the beauty of nature. If you're looking for a winter getaway with stunning views and plenty of activities to enjoy, this is the place for you.

Very fun place. There are just infinite things to do. You can walk on the towering rocks near the cliff and be amazed at the amazing scenery, you can go to the blowholes and watch the absolutely breathtaking water go up in a massive gust, or you can go on a walk on the rocks and go to the lighthouse, and get an astonishing view and some cool photos! I've attached some photos and videos below.
As a bonus, you get a photo of my cat 😺

Beautiful place. But we could only see small waves cominh through the blow holes in the beginning of April. But the view is absolutely stunning.

What a beautiful beautiful little town, that's got everything from beaches to rolling green hills and the lighthouse brings it all together along with the blowhole that's next to it
prashanth nair — Google review
Great place to visit. The main attraction besides the lighthouse is the blow hole. It wasn't very active today, but it was a nice day for a walkabout. Kiama is a small, friendly town with lots of eateries and coffee shops. Nice place for a day trip.

Sadly, only visiting and viewing from the outside is available at The lighthouse.
The view from Kiama Blowhole point is stunning year around. Also aligned directly adjacent to the big blowhole which can provide entertainment to the public.
Dean Turner — Google review
A must see. Kiama is well worth the trip from Sydney. Very windy at the headland but the walkway to the blowhole and around the lighthouse is very well maintained. The deep boom sound of the spray from the blowhole was unexpected and loud. I arrived on a Friday and found parking easily and was free. There is a toilet next to the information centre.
John Kyle — Google review
This landmark is a wonderful vantage point in Kiama. If you are ever in the area you need to make sure to stop by. Just below the lighthouse you can also find the blowhole which is quite a spectacle. There are toilets nearby, gentle slopes with beautiful views -suitable for picnics- and it's close to waterfront restaurants.
Damian Duran — Google review
Great attraction. Incredible viewing points. Managed to get the only picnic table. Incredible place to have our lunch and do a bit of whale spotting. Lucky enough to see two in the distance. Fabulous place to enjoy peace and quiet as well as the views.
Ann Ferrier — Google review
Definitely visit when in kiama. The blowhole is awesome and exciting to see, but it's really important thar u go during high tide. The rock formation there is also very stunning.
Manasee Joshi — Google review
We were there on a rainy afternoon. It was a pretty place but quite crowded. There were lots of people around. The view is lively looking across the rocks and coves.
The lighthouse is quite small and closed. If you are an avid lighthouse chaser it is worth a visit.
There are facilities and a kiosk close by and some parking.
As part of a visit to the town and blow hole it is a. Nice addition.
derek williamson — Google review
Such a beauty, the surrounding area was. With the backdrop of the deep blue green ocean, the lighthouse stands like a royal sentinel, draped in white, guarding the ocean and its majestic expanse of sky
Nilanke Perera — Google review
It was a little bit disappointing that I visited during a drizzling day and couldn't see the beautiful view of Kiama Lighthouse area properly.
Centered around the lighthouse, the waves on both sides of the beach and the beautiful trees were spectacular.
Moreover, the waves coming from the blowhole were beyond imagination.
Parking is easy and there is a restroom at entrance.
Jae Jung Choi — Google review
We didn't originally intend to stop here. It was on our travel planner as a "if you have time, try and see this sight". However, I am so glad we went 8 minutes out of way from the highway, and would highly recommend stopping here. The views were incredible and, unlike many lookouts, there were several points and heaps of space from which to enjoy the view. Even though it was super busy when we went there, at no point did it feel crowded. The blowhole itself was also fantastically entertaining, and honestly really consistent! If you're really wanting to get that picture-perfect photo or slowmo video, you really only have to wait every 7-10 swells for a big one to come along.
While we didn't partake in these, there were heaps of walking tracks and picnic spots if you have time for a longer stop. And the main street we drove down to get to the lookout was bustling with parks and cafes and shops.
There was also a cafe at the top of the hill right near the lighthouse, and the public toilets there were some of the most clean and well-kept I've ever seen. Perfect if you need a moment on a long journey.
Highly recommended, and would absolutely tell friends and go back myself.
I actually had to cancel my booking because of a personal matter and no longer needed the Cabin. The staff were so helpful, they replied to my email very quickly and they gave me a full refund.
It was so helpful as I was already under a lot of stress, Narelle made me feel so calm and she was very happy to help and answered all my questions. If I ever need or want to stay in Kiama, this is where I will be booking. Highly recommend!!

Would Recommend
Just stayed for 3 nights over the busy Summer December period and it was very enjoyable compared to reading previous reviews from visitors.
Slept like a seaside baby with no issue of noise coming from the looped road. Our cabin was right at the road point for the rock pool and I couldn’t hear cars driving past with the window closed.
There was an air conditioner unit in the main area and a fan in each of the bedrooms and one in the main area, all items working together kept us cool.
The self serve/clean style of the cabin on checkout was easy enough to follow. They supplied us plenty of fresh bedding , towels, bath room supplies and toilet paper. The kitchen also came stocked with cleaning items and products.
Downside
The door was a bit heavy and tricky to close, but reception said they had a locksmith coming to fix.
Upside
They have a very nice BBQ attached to the deck which is modern and easy to operate.
All in all would recommend, and definitely will be booking again come next summer.
Picture - view from our cabin.

For years, coming down to Kiama.
I always said.... I'm going to stay in 1 of them cabins one day... Well I'm here.... I really do love the location it's great, our cabin is spacious. But there are a couple of things that really stood that I didn't like.
1. The fly screens in the rooms only half covered the windows, which meant we couldn't have the windows open
2. The amount they charge, I really didn't mind paying, but the least they could do is supply guests with something better then 1 ply toilet paper
Last but not least,
Now I understand that these are clean it yourself cabins.
But someone that works here really should be going through the cabins at least once a week to dust. The photos I posted are the blinds in my room. And windows with cobwebs
Even though these are only minor details,
These are the things I noticed straight away
BUT..... Other than that, I really enjoyed my stay. I would come back again

Stay here for 3 night . Great location and great cabins. Clean, all the amenities you need great set up . Only down fall
Is the road that runs i front of the cabins Rw used as a drag race at night by the most noisy cars and bikes . So nearly impossible to get a good nights sleep. As the park owned by council they could fix it with speed hump or something to reduce the noise . Other than that a great place to
Stay , and we'll set up to be able to cook etc .
richard scarr — Google review
Loved the location. Most (but not all) cabins have great views. Can walk up to diggies for a morning coffee or afternoon cocktail, the ocean pool is also close. The walk into town isn't too bad, although we mostly drove. The wi fi here is terrible. They promote netflix but the internet is so poor it doesn't work. Don't rely on the internet for anything! We bought our own toilet paper, the supplied toilet paper is terrible. The cabins have most things you need, eg a variety of plate sizes, bowls, glasses etc. No dishwasher. The spa bath and shower were separate which I was grateful for. The washing machine and dryer were in the bathroom. Toilet was separate. We stayed 8 nights and while we know there isn't daily service I would have thought after maybe 4 or 5 nights new linen, towels especially, would have been offered. We found the living area really needed a lamp. Enjoyed the deck and own BBQ. Found the cabins to be quiet. Overall, id stay again.
emma jones — Google review
My husband and I stayed here recently. The cabins are in a great location and equipped with everything you need and the grounds were lovely, and well maintained. We had a beautiful water front view. Whilst the cabin we were given was reasonably clean, I was disappointed with the following:
* There were about 1/2 dozen floor tiles broken/cracked and very grubby on the verandah and just inside the front door as you enter the cabin.
* Unfortunately the lock on the screen door couldn’t be locked.
* The lounge has seen better days too. It was quite uncomfortable and very dirty and smelly.
These above issue are so easily rectified, which would have made our stay more enjoyable.

We had a wonderful stay here. Our cabin was huge and well-laid out. The use of space was very well thought out and perfectly-appointed; anything and everything you could need was there for you. We had an incredibly comfortable and relaxing stay here. The staff were lovely - friendly, upbeat and helpful :) Would highly recommend staying here while in Kiama. We would stay again and for longer, too!

Great location, clean and well maintained. Easy access to gorgeous walks and views, the blowhole,
the Main Street just 10 mins easy walk and also the station. Amazing rock pool across the road. A tad disappointed with the motel like room we got appointed.
This was a tiny motel like cabin but priced the same as the larger accomodation which was a bit unfair. Receptionist cold and unsupportive.
Lighting made the property look cheap and not warm and inviting
No soft lighting ! All white tube lights
From the lookout we walked up to the start of Hoddles Track. It can get very misty up there as the nor easter blowing up the mountain condenses into cloud. Thankfully we had a sunny day.
The Track is very steep to begin with and the western end is a very steep climb up but it levels out in the middle. Beautiful forest environment awaits the eager walker for about 6kms return. Take food and drink. Very good new toilet facilities.

Beautiful place to go visit if you’re in the Illawarra. Even though it was a cloudy day on my visit, the views were still wonderful. There are 3 different lookouts, all fairly easy to get to, about 3 minute walk to each. I love all the countryside and scenery.

The most striking aspect of Clover Hill is its panoramic views. On one side, the majestic mountains stand tall, their peaks often kissed by clouds, offering a sense of grandiosity and awe. On the other, the serene sea extends to the horizon, its rhythmic waves providing a calming soundtrack to the area’s natural beauty. The contrast between the imposing mountains and the peaceful sea creates a harmonious balance that is rare and enchanting.
Equally charming is the sight of cows grazing leisurely on the lush green fields of Clover Hill. The pastoral scenes are a reminder of the simple, unhurried pace of life here, far removed from the bustle of urban settings. The cows add a touch of bucolic bliss to the landscape, making it a perfect retreat for those seeking to reconnect with nature.

Amazing views of the valley, surrounding mountains and the sea in the background. Winding way up with cattle farms along the way. Just a 1.5 hour drive from Sydney, its a must see on the way to the Southern Highlands.

Great view from the “A” track of the beaches , farms & bush land .
The top of the mountain is 600m above sea level and it was good .
The “B” loop is a letdown due to trees blocking the view .
Overall a great spot to visit and the drive is an adventure too . Some awesome properties and paddocks along the way to enjoy .

Beautiful lookout, parking is close by and the views are spectacular.
Came here with a group on motorcycles and was able rescue a young lady who'd gone through the parking barrier and was teetering on sliding down into the bush off a cliff. Luckily we were able to push the car back uphill and everyone left happy. We tried to put the barrier back but could only do so much.
Long story short, be careful in the parking area as the soft ground means you will push through barrier if going the wrong way.
Otherwise a very lovely lookout with some nice nature surrounds.

Can view Kiama and surroundings. Excellent view from top. Front wheel drive with lower cc vehicle take time to move up. Better to use low gear in case of lower cc vehicle. There are absence of public toilets. Number of visitors usually less than what you see in Kiama down to it. A very calm and quiet place.

I’ve been here a few times, and I’m always speechless at the view. The drive up is beautiful itself, with so much greenery and farmlands. Don’t forget to stop on the road up to say hi to the horses and cows!
The small walkway to the lookout from the parking lot is safe for people of all ages and mobility in my opinion, and the lookout itself is splendid. Definitely worth the trip.

Located at the top of Seddleback mountain. The view of Jamberoo valley is mind blowing from this lookout especially on a sunny day. A short walk from the carpark. The views to Illawarra escarpment and the Illawarra brush are stunning . The drive to the lookout is so beautiful.

The drive up to the lookout was really easy and enjoyable. There is lots of parking and a short path to the lookout platform.
The view was stunning, we could see right up to Lake Illawarra, to the horizon on the east. The highway seemed to disappear and all you could see was beautiful rolling hills and farm land.
It's free, peaceful and beautiful.
No toilets, no picnic area.

Amazing views, was hardly anyone around and able to soak up experience. Short walk from the carpark to see all views. I enjoyed the drive up to the lookout also.
Collection of historic locomotives, plus passenger & freight cars, with steam train rides.
Took the family on little steam train ride and then visited the museum. It was a lovely day out. Would love to go on another longer steam train ride. The train was gorgeous, the guys had lots of knowledge and were very friendly and funny. What a great day out. You could easily spend 3-4 hours all up. It was great to show my kids the Red Rattler 😁

I'm a regular down here. Such a magnificent place to visit. The great train hall has a very large amount of locos & cars. The indoor display is very good.
The local food & drink options are plentiful. The museum's cafe serves a selection of hot and cold food, and the nearby cafes & eateries are well worth a look
If visiting when an event is running (eg Thomas Day Out), it can get very busy. Otherwise, the crowds are minimal, making for a relaxing outing.

A Wonderful collection of trains, new and old to look at and appreciate. My group is here for the “Day Out with Thomas”. We got to go on the Steam Train ride which I have done before and always enjoyed. It cost $35 which I think is reasonable. There’s good toilet facilities. The only thing is a member of our group couldn’t go on train ride because he was in a wheelchair which was a pity. Overall it was great visit and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend, especially for the children.

Good for the entire family. My son (5) loved it. There is a little train ride for free on the grounds, train play equipment and picnic area. Wear appropriate shoes as there is a lot of walking. Interesting to learn about the trains. There is a small Cafe on site but also food to buy across the road.

What a wonderful place to go for train lovers or children on the autism spectrum who love trains. This particular week was the Thomas and friends show. It's a beautiful place located in a lovely town and set out over a large area with a lot of train carriages to walk through and see the changes over the years. Plenty of parking, lots of bathroom facilities and nice Cafe. A lovely train ride on an old steam train and very friendly, helpful staff. A very enjoyable experience.

Fantastic and well laid out. Wonderful to see the Comet, Australia's first air conditioned diesel train, and the prototype electric double deck power car C3804. Staff were polite and helpful. Great area for kids to entertain themselves. A thoroughly enjoyable day out.

Had a great Easter Sunday with a steam train trip from central tithe NSW Rail Museum Aston Thirlmere. After the 1.5 hour trip through southwest Sydney we arrived at the museum and had a leisurely stroll through the extensive collection of historical steam trains and related rolling stock. Everything form the first engine over the harbour bridge to the carriage used by the Queen on her first visit to Australia. Good cafe and shop plus plenty for the kids to do. Also close to nearby cafes and the local pub.

Never knew this place existed. A definite must if you love trains. History is amazing to see how far we've evolved from the simple steam engines to the monster diesel power engines! Loved the tour and the small running train is always fun for the kids. 🚂🚂😁👍👍

The museum is very well layed out and has a great display of rail history. Original prison, postal, mortuary and luxury train carriages can be viewed. Also enjoyed the ride on the steam train! Very nice day out with the family, staff are very friendly, knowledgeable and passionate about trains.

Went for the 'Day out with Thomas' experience at the train museum. Absolutely loved it. So well organised. Lots of activities included in your tickets - mini train tides, rides on toby, jumping castles, painting and play areas. My son loves Thomas and he had the best day. Lots of clean toilets and baby change facilities too. The food options could be slightly better, but no significant concerns. Next time maybe I'll pack something from home 😊 100% recommended if your little ones love trains.

What an incredible little adventure at the NSW Rail Museum! The train collection is absolutely mind-blowing, and the history that surrounds it all is just fascinating. It's a perfect outing with your loved ones.
And guess what? The entry fee is just 15 bucks, but let me tell you, every single cent is money well spent. It's like stepping back in time, a real blast from the past. Such an eye-opening experience, and it really makes you appreciate how far technology has come since the last century.🚂🕰️👨👩👧👦

A must visit if you love trains! It’s a well maintained museum with lots of trains and vintage artefacts on display, but I recommend spending more time in the workshop area because you can go inside a few carriages and take photos of the interiors :)
I really enjoyed the 45-min steam train ride (included in the ticket). We visited the museum during non-school holidays and the staff was kind enough to give us our own seating area because the carriage is not full.
They have a cafe inside the museum if you want to have snacks and coffee. I recommend their hot pies, they’re quite tasty.

Our visits to the train museum are always a delight, especially for our kids who never tire of watching and riding the steam trains. Great museum for any train and locomotive enthusiasts. Lots of displays of new and old trains within the museum with their history.
The museum is great for toddlers and kids who will find it fascinating and exciting to explore different eras.
The entry ticket is $15/person for adults and free for kids. There is also a train ride included, however since we visited during the Christmas holidays, the train rides were not available.

We visited for the Thomas the Tank Engine event 🚂
I have to say we were very pleasantly surprised. The organisation was the best we've come across in NSW. There were many helpful, friendly and fun staff working. Everything was a breeze. So many great activities put on for kids including several bouncy castles & play areas. Plus all the facilities you could need.
Our 2 year old loved every minute of it, including exploring all the beautiful old trains in the museum.
We really loved how so many people in the town had put balloons out along the train journey for the kids.
The steam train ride (on Donald) was a highlight!
Can very highly recommend, we'll definitely be back!!
You may drive by it on the way to the pie shop but take a moment. Park nearby and embrace its mythical like nature as you tread on holy ground.
Though you can't go inside it anymore and experience the traumatic life of a potato, it still has a magnetism to it.
Knock on the covered doors and you'll meet Gregor, the town's potato and lower back tattooist specialist. He'll give you the the most realistic TBP tattoo you'll ever have. Really adding to this must see destination.

In the quaint town of Robertson, nestled in the lush green hills of Australia, stands a monumental and mysterious structure known as the Big Potato. This colossal potato, unlike any other, has a story that transcends time and defies the imagination.
Millions of years ago, during the late Mesozoic Era, the land that is now Robertson was a thriving habitat for dinosaurs. These gigantic creatures roamed the earth, and among them was a species that had a peculiar dietary preference for enormous, nutrient-rich tubers that grew in abundance in this prehistoric paradise.
As the eons passed, the dinosaurs became extinct, but one of these massive tubers managed to survive. It was no ordinary potato; it was imbued with an uncanny resilience and an ability to withstand the test of time. This tuber, through a miraculous twist of nature, slowly petrified, turning into a stone-like relic, preserving its potato form for ages to come.
Centuries flew by, and the land evolved, but the petrified potato remained hidden, buried deep beneath the surface. It was not until the early 20th century, during an unprecedented excavation in Robertson, that this prehistoric relic was unearthed. The discovery baffled scientists and locals alike. How could a potato of such an immense size exist, and what were its origins?
The Big Potato, as it came to be known, quickly became a symbol of Robertson, attracting curious visitors from all over the world. It stands today as a unique testament to the town's deep-rooted connection to a time when dinosaurs walked the earth, and as a reminder of the mysteries that our planet still holds.
Thus, the Big Potato of Robertson is not just an oversized vegetable statue; it is a relic from an era long gone, a silent witness to the age of dinosaurs, and a cherished icon that connects the present to the mysteries of the ancient past.

Hopefully the good people of Robertson have a sense of humour because the Big Poo-tato is the funniest ’big’ thing ever and will be the ‘butt’ of many jokes for years to come.
Worth stopping for a laugh and a photo if you’re in the area, but wouldn’t make a special trip.
That said, it is situated in a great little town in a beautiful part of the NSW Southern Highlands surrounded by stunning rural properties and magnificent scenery.

I visit this shop weekly. The shop's name describes the best what the shop is. The delicatessen section staff is most helpful to cut and pack the way you need it to be done and the variety of product excels the variety of major chain stores. If you visit just once - you will visit again and again.
I was not impressed with the take-away fish and chips section that opened a year ago or so. Having the fresh produce fish is a bonus lost in the tasteless way it is prepared/cooked.

So last Sunday 9/7/23 I was in nowra fresh fish & meat market.
I brought nearly $200 worth of seafood and red meat.
I got 1kg of “apparently fresh Australian prawns” they weren’t fresh at all!!!!!
We have been in the meat industry for nearly 30yrs and when we got home, we peeled and tried your tasteless caulky prawns… they went straight into the bin.
How many times have they been frozen then thawed… I wonder!
They were disgusting and we’ll never be back
And we use to deliver lambs to you guys!

I use both your stores because if the freshness and the variety I love good quality food the only disappointment is that there is no meat packs anymore. I understand the economy is bad but I personally would not mind an increase in the price to still have this pack available

4 stars to the meat market. Usually get all their fish and meat from there as it's always fresh. Unfortunately getting squid from there wasn't fresh. When I got home I seen the sticker label it said product of China. I thought this store was for local or at least Australian meat and seafood. We cooked it anyway and it was disgusting. We have caught our own before so we know what fresh and quality taste like. We spat it out. It was so mooshy. we even tried to over cook it a bit to he sure it was the quality. Very disappointed in not knowing it was from China as it didnt state behind the glass on display before i got it. For the squid options, definitely ask first where it's from first. Very upset the rest will be going to the dog Unfortunately :( but I do highly recommend this place for all other options. Especially the fresh fruit and veg market just below them.

Hidden adventure here for older kids!
Turned up after reading the reviews expecting a nice time but less excitement with teens.
However there are two "walks" that are much more adventurous than a paved path as you climb up through rock crevices, into caves, up and down ladders and it was great! Although not animal related it is a great extra to this entry. Definitely come wearing good shoes. Everyone loved it. Not suitable for small kids so perhaps why this hadn't been mentioned in other reviews.
The zookeeper chats were all fun and we all enjoyed getting to touch various animals.

Museum of Australian aviation with aircraft, artifacts & viewing platforms in a hangar-style space.
As a big naval aviation fan I was really looking forward to coming here and it did not disappoint! There was tons to see lots of memorabilia from ww1-now and everything in-between! Aswell as a plethora of aircraft especially helicopters, I really enjoyed seeing the sea fury and venom but unfortunately the main aircraft I came to see (A4 Skyhawk) is currently moved elsewhere. The reception staff are friendly and let you do your own thing and look around and the gift shop has plenty of awesome things! The simulator was also super fun, but the best part of all is that entry to see all this is completely free!! Definitely recommend to anyone interested traveling by the area!

Cassandra on reception is fantastic very helpful and pleasant.
Displays were a bit dissapointing with a lot missing and others in the process of being moved,
I'm sure it will be great again when new displays are finished.
The facility really needs to have a cafe and refreshments DOWNSTAIRS AT (GROUND LEVEL).
During our many visits, I've never seen the cafe open and the steep stairs makes access impossible for many patrons.
Presentation of the displays is excellent and very professional, WELL DONE.

The museum has changed quite a lot since our last visit (back in the 1990s). Have always been impressed with aircraft and more so by naval aviators, so it is always good to read their stories and look at the aircraft that they flew.

Beautifully laid out and endless information to educate all ages. We loved every minute, wished we had longer to take in the videos and audios. It's a must do if you are visiting Bowral, even if you aren't a big cricket fan. Congratulations to all of those involved with the museum. It's a credit to you all.
Family-run vintage & antiques market & a quaint tea room in a renovated building.
A must-see if you’re in Bowral. This isn’t an ordinary antiques store - where a lot of average items is haphazardly piled around, and you have to hunt for things worth buying. Here, everything is artfully and tastefully arranged, and of high quality. Even if you don’t intend to buy anything, it’s worth a walk through, like a museum.
It’s also massive! It just kept going.

Amazing vintage items available for purchase. A wonderful little slice of throwback memorabilia. Really enjoyed spending the morning there. Want to go back when the tea cafe opens back up.

Whilst I didn't actually find anything to buy here, I had a great time looking at everything! Very interesting place and you can spend quite a while here looking around. I enjoyed how nicely everything was presented.
The staff were very friendly too!

Yes, five stars for the tea room tucked away in Dirty Janes. Try a high tea, we couldn’t fit the morsels of delight in. Instead we indulged in a masala chai and I had a large hot chocolate (the sweetness is delicious). And two warm, soft scones with strawberry jam and thick cream (with vanilla). It’s a tiny treasure. And remind yourself to take your time and breathe in the fragrant tea aromas.

What a great place! It's filled with "rooms" full of unusual, bygone era and quirky things. A great atmosphere and something for everyone.

I have never been to an antique store that looked so good. Everything was ordered, clean and cared for. I love the concept of a department store for antiques. Great variety and customer service. We also found some really, really nice things that we wanted to buy! We settled on something small and a gift for a family member.

Lots of cool old stuff and a bit of nice handmade stuff too. Very nicely staged. Staff were pleasant.
There is no longer a cafe here but there is apparently one nearby.

This cafe is tucked inside a large antique shop that looks like they have multiple vendors (like a little market place). It is famous in the Bowral area.
The cafe itself is cosy, full of charm, character, with antiques everywhere.
The food was pleasant and the scones were beautiful (not dry or like paste).
The service was professional and polite with an air of the service you might expect from a bnb.
This is a must visit for out of towners.

Such a beautiful experience. We did a bit of shopping and at the end felt like some tea and scones-we hadn’t made a reservation but the beautiful staff were so kind and welcoming. As soon as a table became available they whipped in to action to clean it and get things ready.
The food was absolutely beautiful and the staff were so lovely and accommodating!

A few weeks ago we travelled to Bowral for the day. We live in Wollongong so not to far.
Beautiful day and we shopped for hours.
We stopped at Dirty Janes for lunch.
We missed the lunchtime rush. Served very quickly by friendly staff. We had burgers, so tasty. Definitely a good choice for both of us

Wow! I've never seen a bigger antique / thrift shop before. It has a variety of things which everyone can enjoy including antique, local products, jewellery, clothing, furniture as well as plants! They sell both brand new and used items in different shops. They also have staff roaming around if you have any questions about any item. However sometimes it's hard to get information if they aren't familiar with an item especially when the owners of a specific shop aren't there.
They also have a Cafe anjacent to the shops where you can get a nice coffee or food in the middle of browsing. Food was a little bit expensive and average but coffee was good and location is convenient.
I will be happy to come back again some time.

Looking for some upmarket second hand gear? How about something unique or hand made? From clothing, to antiques, records/vinyl LPs, jewellery through to lamps and furniture. It's all here.
There are enough variety to keep even the blokes interested and happy.
The products are quality and the prices are set to match.
There are several cafes nearby if you need to take a break in-between.
The staff are friendly and will package your purchases very well so they don't get damaged in transit. The service is impeccable.

Lovely collection of eclectic items here. From top tear to rustic in nature of vintage, there is something for everyone. There is also a lovely lunch spot and plant collection. This is a place to get temporarily lost in. Loved the visit here. Will definitely pop in again when I'm in town.

Where are the large old tea pots, sugar cubes, traditional sandwiches and GF scones jam and cream?
Such a unique experience it’s part of the Dirty Janes tradition. I’m sad to see the old tea rooms gone. I like the shops they are great worth a look but I will now have to go elsewhere to eat.

A definite stop whenever going past Bowral!
This community gem is a treasure trove of all things new and old with a great selection of vintage clothes and memorabilia, kitsch of all shapes and sizes along with a variety of local artisanal creations.
Stunning place to visit! We had booked for lunch and had the most exquisite experience there. Loads of charm sitting amongst the books, near a stunning stone fireplace. This newly purpose built barn venue is packed with attention to detail that instantly immerses you into a great relaxing mood. Great wines and food to simply die for. We had the blue swimmer crab linguini with chilli and garlic and it has become one of the most memorable dishes I've ever had. I cannot recommend this venue enough! It's a must visit!
Joe Salamanca — Google review
Unfortunately we didn't get to eat or have coffee here, as it was fully booked. There were no Reserved notices on the tables though which caused a moment of confusion for all.
The range of books is similar to the Oxford St location, I was actually expecting a fair bit more of the book barn. Overall though it's a very lovely location, and I always enjoy browsing at a Berkelouw.

Absolutely breathtaking. The atmosphere at this venue is like something out of a movie. The staff were so helpful in assisting me to find a book I'd been after for a while. The hospitality staff were super accommodating even though they had a wedding on at 3 and we arrived at around quarter past two, they found us a table and whipped up a delicious lunch. I can't recommend this place high enough. Well worth a visit!

Beautiful interiors where you can select a book to read while eating or drinking. We tried their desserts and all were interesting, albeit a bit expensive. There’s also an actual book shop you can purchase from which has a good selection of fiction and non-fiction books. Best to have a reservation as they really get packed on weekends.

I want more place like this! Beautiful country setting, a barn full of books and great food.
Initially I thought there’s a café there, not aware it’s a full fledged restaurant. We were told the dinning space is more like a cafe setting in the morning.
I wish there are more casual sitting space through the day just for coffee/snacks and book browsing.

The Grape Escape all the way. Scott and Mira have tailored our wine tours, to us. They take the time to get to know the people who are going on the tour and tailor your needs, wants and likes. It IS SO PERSONAL. They are also so informative about the wineries and distilleries you visit and that was a definite plus for us. We would and have recommended the Grape Escape Southern Highlands wine tours as they are #1. Continue your great personal service, you are both GOLD. Goulburn is an amazing town located between Canberra & Sydney.
Belmore Park is in the middle of the town & within walking distance of cafes, restaurants, shopping centres, The Soldiers Club, The Workers Club & other iconic places of Goulburn.
The park has something for everyone!
- a great playground for children
- magnificent gardens with hundreds of plants flowering
- large, huge & unique trees
- picnic tables & chairs
- public toilets
- pathway around the park… be mindful of some of the large tree roots have lifted small sections of the path ie if you have mobility issues and/or a mobility aid

There is also a small greenhouse you can visit in the middle of the park.
Large ram statue standing as monument to the local wool industry, with an adjacent souvenir shop.

The big Merino is in the corner of Hume and, Sowerby St, Goulburn NSW. Nicknamed "Rambo" by locals, the Big Merino contains a gift shop on the ground floor and a wool display on the second floor which it was closed at the time I visited the Rambo, not sure about the reason. The Big Merino, built in 1985. Standing 15.2 meters high, 18 meters long and weighing 97 tones at the time of construction. The complex was opened on September 20 1985. Normally it is not busy but the date I visited it was long weekend and school holidays which made it extremely busy.
Lots of restaurants and cafe nearby to dine in.
I loved the gift shop in the ground floor. The gift shop was full of good quality made in Australia specifically made in Goulburn items. I liked the wild Australian animals made with wool section.

Definitely worth a visit.
An Australian treasure located at the southern end of Goulburn.
There is a big merino gift shop attached to him and from inside the gift shop you can access stairs which take you up inside the sculpture, which is actually hollow. At the top you can look out of his eyes over the town. On the way up, each level is full of the wool industries history.
Great gift shop with lovely staff.
Free parking.
Wheelchair accessible parking and entry
No toilet but you will find yourself right next to the servo which has toilets.

We visited this landmark which is located at a rest stop where there are petrol stations and cafes. It is a very tall Merino sheep statue indeed and great for a photo momento.

Man, this is one big concrete sheep. I think it's concrete; I confess I didn't go up and eyeball it or touch it. If it is concrete, it is actually a pretty darn impressive sculpture, not merely for it's size but also it's visage. It's... a merino. The gift shop underneath it's behind is stocked with woollen items galore. I am a hankie guy and needed hankies and they had none (I know, I know, you don't get woollen hankies, Paul, and I know this, I was just... hoping because they do sell cloth items). Friendly lady serving me while another shopper admired handbags.

This is an amazing estate with excellent food. Having dined around midday on a Saturday, the staff were kind, the service fast, and the food had generous portions with great quality.
The building itself was within a rustic vineyard, nestled in the hills, with an outlook of Lake George (which had water in it at the time of our dining!)
We had smiles all around after our time here, and we thank Lerida Estate for their hospitality. :)

Our wine tasting host, Jacka, was very great. He was very knowledgeable and a lot of fun. Everyone enjoyed their lunch, except me. Dropped in on our way home to Sydney from Thredbo, we thought we’d just have a look but ended up doing a lovely tasting of all the wines on offer. Our host was Theo who was very friendly, helpful and had some great information and thoughts on the wines on tasting as well as their other reserve wines. The location and tasting room is lovely and the restaurant looks great. There’s a charge per person for tastings but it’s fully refundable on any wine purchases. They really do have some lovely and interesting wines especially the estate Chardonnay, Shiraz and a particularly good Syrah. One of the most amazing galleries you will ever visit. A must to visit!

I recently visited the Bungendore Wood Works Gallery and found it to be a truly remarkable experience.
The quality of the craftsmanship on display is nothing short of excellent, with a diverse range of items ranging from practical furniture to intricate artworks. It's clear that each piece was meticulously curated, showcasing not only the inherent beauty of the wood but also the exceptional talent of the artisans.
The gallery itself is thoughtfully laid out, making it easy to navigate and appreciate each item. I also found the staff to be incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about their work, which added an extra layer to the experience.
The onsite café was a pleasant surprise. It provided an opportunity to sit back and reflect on the artworks over a good cup of coffee. The service was prompt, and the food was well prepared.
In conclusion, the Bungendore Wood Works Gallery is more than just a gallery; it's a testament to the beauty of woodcraft and an inspiring space for creative thought.

After an incredibly disappointing trip up to the Black Mountain lookout to get a view over Canberra (every single vantage point was so overgrown with trees that there was nowhere clear) we decided to try Mt Ainslie. Well was THAT a good move! More lovely views than you could poke a stick at! Paths and steps to different spots. Would perhaps suggest that arm rails might be handy on the stone steps. I get around just fine: but it’s amazing how vulnerable you feel without something to hang onto when you’re on such hard, uneven surfaces. Public areas tidy and well maintained: ample parking.

Must visit spot when you visit Canberra
Easy-moderate hike which will take 45min-1hr
Try to come here at dawn so you experience sunset and watch the city light up

Great view! I love Canberra. It's so peaceful - even more so when looking out over this view.

We visited this place and enjoyed the night view of Canberra city. There is ample parking and a short walk down two short flights of steps to the lookout point. It was windy and pretty cold in late September when we visited.

Probably one of the better walks in Canberra I've been on. Super easy start to the walk or the drive if you're so inclined. Doesn't have much shade when walking, however a gorgeous walk that is well worth the 45 minute up the top. Water bubbles at the top are super appreciated! If visited canberra, a must visit!

Beautiful scenic experience overall. Worth going. we could able to see war memorial, airport, museum, lake, almost whole Canberra from there. I wish there would be a big binoculars so we could enjoy more. There were heaps of butterfly I have seen these many first time in my life. Enchanted experience when decent from top view point using track. I went there in 3rd of Jan and we could also able to see rabbits, mouse,

It's a lookout point from where you can see the Canberra. The parliament looks stunning from here. It's a kind of hill station where you don't need AC or fans. Hill stations always have a calling specially where people strongly believe it is there's. So rubbish or dirty is out of dictionary. Eye candy.

One of the best mountain top viewing platforms in Canberra.
Best place to see the sunset in mountains & Parliament House, war museum plus other tourist locations..
Hiking from war museum is also a nice idea ..

A beautiful spot that allows for almost 360 views of Canberra. Free parking is available at the very top, so it's incredible accessible, especially for a pram / baby / toddler) . Definitely recommended!

Fantastic view over Canberra. The hike is fairly short (about 1h each way) and well worth it.
There's a water fountain along with an ice-cream truck at the top.

Wonderful views of the capital city and surrounding areas. You can see all the main landmarks from up here, including a great view from behind the War Memorial all the way down ANZAC Parade to Old Parliament House and the stunning architecture of Parliament House rising behind it.
The only disappointment was the absence of public toilets at such an iconic public place when we were there with a bus full of school students. That’s an oversight that local government needs to address,

Obviously, Mt Ainslie is one of the recommended places to visit when you are in Canberra. If you want to enjoy the entire city, definitely here is the view... Stunning views of the Australian Capital are waiting for you to explore and take pics.

Really great place to get a birds eye view of Canberra. Good amount of car parking spots available, and there was also a small bus selling Ice Cream and other assorted snacks.

The best time to Visit is early in the morning or during sunset. We loved the spot. If you don't have time to look around Canberra on a one day trip you can head to the Ainslie lookout for the best view of Canberra ( The nation's Capital).

Wow, this is my second visit to CBR, and can't believe this isn't the first place people recommend to visit. Aim for 10 min before sunset plus 1hour after. Take some snacks and just observe how the world change around you. With an amazing view.
One of the best experiences, except sunset on Table Mountain South Africa

Iconic view of the Parliamentary Triangle and the city generally. The lookout has been renamed for Marion Mahony Griffin. Good information boards here too so you can see how far the vision for Canberra changed from the original concept.

It's not just a scenic lookout but offers a panoramic view of Canberra where you can see the Parliament House, American Memorial, Lake, and mountain ranges, among others.
Just a short drive from the city centre.

The views over Canberra are great from here. Parking is available and the road is well signposted. The only negative is the ice-cream truck blaring music in this scenic area. Definitely worth a visit if you're in Canberra.

The Australian War Memorial in Canberra is a stunning example of art-deco architecture and serves as a visual representation of the nation's gratitude for military sacrifice. This shrine was built to commemorate the 'war to end all wars', even though World War II had already broken out by the time it opened in 1941. The attached museum is exceptionally well-designed and covers Australia's military history comprehensively.
A fantastic Museum and war memorial. Would highly recommend attending if you are visiting Canberra. It is free to the public but you do need to go onto the website a book a time due to covid restrictions.

Simply an amazing. It's undergoing some massive works for the next couple of years, which will make it so much better. We all loved it. It's a very emotional place to visit. Every Australian should visit this at least once to appreciate what our diggers have gone through & to see the history of our armed forces.

Honouring the fallen men & women! Incredible place to be. Lots of history and knowledge of the past at this place. One side is the memorial while other is the Army museum which is worth seeing. You will get 2hr window to visit which in my opinion is not enough to see WWI, WWII, Modern Warfare and other sections. Would recommend you book two sessions so you can see everything and soak in all. Love being there!

I have to put 5 star. The memorial is amazing with fascinating stories. They have real artefacts from Second World War and First World War. Real size planes, canon, car, weapons ect…
The view from the unknown soldier tomb is amazing. You can see the parliaments on the other side

One of the best places to visit in Canberra, especially for young ones that are interested in military vehicles. Make sure you ask where to park if you want to go around and see the large outdoor vehicles as they are not part of the main exhibit. Still free to access, but it's a lot easier if you drive around the back and park.

You get a real sense of our nation here. I haven't been here since I was a child and wished I'd come sooner. If you think you may be able to visit, then you should it's worth while. There is a last post ceremony at 4:45pm that is also worth catching.

Massive place! Easy to get lost, really need a couple of days in here to see it all. We had a guided tour and our tour guide was a wonderful guy and very knowledgeable and friendly, was more than happy to take me back to the shrine of the unknown soldier and the hall of remembrance as I was late arriving and missed the start of the tour. There were a lot of building works going on when we visited unfortunately so the lift for my partner was out of service as she was in a wheelchair while we were visiting, they did have a mechanical stair crawler for wheelchairs but was very slow.
Would love to come back and spend more time next time

Give yourself plenty of time to visit it all, so much history and personal stories to read and experience. Then, to cap off the day, appreciate the calling of the Last Post.
A truly memorable visit with many more to come once the construction and refurbishments are complete

A place worth visiting for international visitors when coming to Canberra city. The surrounding area is under repair but does not affect the exhibition area. The time allowed to visit is about 1 hour which seems too little given the quality and rich content here.

What an amazing tribute to the fallen men and women of Australia. The staff are truly amazing. What a credit to the memorial and themselves. The staff actually made an amazing place even better. Their professional approach to their jobs and the visitors is amazing. They are by far the most helpful, courteous, and friendly people I have come across. A lot of organisations could learn so much from these staff members. They topped off a great day for me. Thank you.

The War Memorial is a great way to remember the fallen and learn about the wars Australia was in. WWI, WWII, Vietnam war, Korean war and many more are included. There are countless artifacts and bits of information which tell visitors about Australia's part in the wars mentioned above. Unfortunately when I visited it was under renovation, although when it is done I will come again and see all the War Memorial has to offer.

An amazing place of national significance. Made all that much better by taking a tour.
A balanced view of losses and warfare within our borders would be a significant improvement. As would ensuring the Board has no political appointments.

Stunning display of Australian war memorabilia and homage to the living and lost veterans of war. Freedom isn't free for any country and this memorial takes you straight to that fact.

In awe of the preservation of war time Artifacts and the knowledgeable staff. School tour was informative, but not long enough or didn't have time to freely wander. So many students wanted to keep looking and reading!! A beautiful memorial nonetheless. So grateful that we have something like this to remember our veterans.

Enjoyed a lovely few hours visiting the Australian War Museum. Some renovations going on inside and out but plenty of parking underneath and well signed. Displays were outstanding, it has been decades since I visited here and it was well worth the visit. Recommended if you have a few hours to spare in Canberra.
Make sure you book online before arriving.

Second time visiting and my gosh it keeps getting better! Love spending my time walking around and reading/living in the moment. So appreciative to our soldiers for all they did. Such a beautiful place to remember them! All the hard work on the inside that the staff have done to present and preserve history was amazing! So many interactive experiences inside also. There were some tours going around at the time too but it certainly wasn’t overly busy. My partner loved every minute of it! The staff allowed us to extend our time inside also which was wonderful!

A must for those into WW1 and WW2. Lots of historical items are displayed, and you can relate to what you have read in the books. You have a choice to follow the guided tour or go on your own. If you're more into taking photos, better go on your own. Do get the ticket in advance via online (ticket is free), which allow you to choose the time to visit the war memorial.

Undergoing huge upgrade, but still able to put on a really moving and informative exhibition. An excellent learning experience. Love how they tell the story as it is and allowed my emotions to draw from the facts. One of the most stunning and striking places in all of Australia, the feeling are overwhelmingly sad but great to see the tribute and remembering those that sacrifice their lives for us from the ANZACS to the allies, nurses and anyone that fought in the war for Australia and New Zealand. The information and displays are incredible and intensely detailed, well preserved war artefacts and items belonging to all sides of the conflict and representing all the different divisions of war, the designs and layout is so well illustrated and easy to navigate for any ages and physical abilities. Plenty of helpful and friendly staff to assist you, group tours are free, the iconic poppy on the plaques for the fallen are must do and something from yourself to contribute and be apart of the memorial. I’ve already said a lot about this place, it’s a must visit at least once in your life time either you’re an Aussie/Kiwi or visiting the area, it’s FREE ENTRY and the views from the memorial are breathtaking looking onto Anzac Parade and Australian Parliament House (new and old), you can easily walk there and bus there, parking is available onsite and enjoy a relaxing coffee at their cafe with a whole lot of interesting information surrounding it. This place is literally for anyone absolutely no excuses not to visit doesn’t matter if you’re 8 or 88 years old!

Staff was so welcoming, all were well informed. Suggestions would be to have a few more seats around for people with mild disabilities as it is a huge area to cover. Our tour guide Scott was very well informed and very well spoken for people with hearing difficulties. Hands down one of the best places to visit in Canberra.

Great as usual but currently being enlarged so a lot of construction work going on. The guide said that at present only about 5% of their collection is on display so they desperately needed more space. Should be well worth the wait.
The National Gallery of Australia is a modern architectural marvel featuring an extensive collection of Australian and international art, including a substantial aboriginal exhibit. The purpose-built gallery, located in the parliamentary precinct, showcases works from renowned artists throughout history. Notable pieces include Monet's Waterlilies, Sidney Nolan's Ned Kelly paintings, Salvador Dali's Lobster Telephone, Andy Warhol's Elvis print and Francis Bacon's triptych.
Been back a few times over the years and it’s always a great experience. Free entry to beautiful artworks and lots of it! Can spend all day in the free section and sculpture garden.
Didn’t visit a paid exhibition this time but recommend booking tickets for those online as we arrived upon open (10am) and Jeffrey Smart was booked out until 12:30pm.

We visited National Gallery of Australia and really enjoyed our visit. We were asked to lock our bags in the free lockers before being allowed entry. There are two floors of great art, ranging from nineteenth century till present. The star of the gallery is the Monet. It took us a couple of hours to browse the free galleries. A great place to view works of art. There is also a bookshop and cafe here.

It's surprisingly good with a great variety of art across time. Jackson Pollock, Sidney Nolan, and a few crazy weird pieces. The building itself is a marvel. I highly recommend doing the 1hr tour to get your bearings. Derek was engaging and enthusiastic. The gift ship was the usual rip-off. And why they charge for parking on a weekend is beyond me. Just greediness. Park at Bowen Park and walk around the lake. Also, security freaked out about my water bottle and gave me a paper bag to put it in?!
Overall, I'm happy I checked it out. 2-3hrs needed.

An interesting space that had a number of special exhibitions on display.
Largely seems to be a collection of modern art, with a focus on women artists and indigenous voices at the time of my visit.
You must pay to park, and there are a number of other interesting places nearby to visit. Likely not suitable for younger children.

Make sure you check out skyspace and the sculpture garden outside.
This holidays we attended a free kids art workshop which was wonderful.
I loved coming here when I had a baby - wide open space meant walking with a pram was easy. Toilets were very pleasant and there is a parents room.
I love that many of the exhibitions regularly change.
Occasionally exhibitions are laid exhibitions but these are well worth it and usually a special experience.
There is coffee at the entrance. Parking is easy but is now paid on Sundays.

Went to the Jeffery Smart exhibition at the NGA and it was absolutely glorious. Not too long that you got bored but not to short that you were wanting more.
It was nice to see the artist’s personal progression reflected through the stylistic choices of their work. It was also nice to see many of the same themes appear throughout the exhibition.
We were fortunate enough to speak to one of the volunteers who spoke through the exhibition with us, giving us a new perspective, moreover the motives of the artist.
Really enjoyed this exhibition and the NGA

The NGA hosted our wedding ceremony in April. We used the sculpture gardens near the Angel of the North and spilling over towards the Knot. I was so impressed with the service, from the moment of our first enquiry, through all my difficult bride questions, to the day of. We had staff on hand to pack up/down, serve drinks, provide support throughout the entire event, keep us on track and make sure everyone was happy and well looked after. The gallery itself looks FANTASTIC in our pictures, and that alone would have impressed me even without the fantastic service. I could not fault anything, and highly recommend them to any couple looking for a unique and beautiful venue for their wedding.

Questacon - National Science and Technology Centre in Canberra is a children's museum with interactive exhibits and puppet shows focused on science and technology. It offers approximately 200 hands-on exhibits spread across seven galleries, including earthquake simulators and a huge model of the moon. The facility is popular for its entertaining approach to learning that deviates from traditional classroom teaching. Visitors are encouraged to catch one of the regular science shows at the site's theatre, with updated times available online.
Absolutely amazing. The people working here have the best jobs in the continent. Ideal for middle and high school kids but equally good for all ages. You need to spend One whole day here if you are a science enthusiast. Love it. Coming back here once the kids have grown up a little.

Exceptional science museum lots of fun for the family. We love taking our young children to Questacon and this year we purchased an annual pass from the University of Wollongong Science Space which gave us unlimited entries to reciprocal museums in Australia. We visited Questacon on Good Friday and Easter Monday and thoroughly enjoyed the Spectacular Science Shows held at the Japan Centre theatre. We watched the Dinosaur show, Energy show and the Fire show. All the presenters were excellent! Entertaining, funny and very informative! We had Alice (Dinosaur) and David (Fire) - sorry forgot the lady’s name for the energy show but she was great too. We also attended the Butterfly Adventure session too and it was a lot of fun! We thoroughly enjoyed all the exhibitions, lots of hands on fun and learning for the kids of all ages. Thank you Questacon! A Wholesome Family Adventure at Questacon
Having recently visited Questacon in Canberra with my young toddler, I am filled with nothing but praises for this interactive science center. The variety of exhibits catered not only to the curious minds of the adults but were also enthralling for the little ones. A particular favorite was the water play area which provided an engaging and fun learning experience for my toddler. The hands-on approach of the exhibits kept him entertained and intrigued throughout our visit.
The convenience of having a restaurant inside the premises was a big plus. It allowed us to take a break, refuel and get back to exploring without having to leave the center. The food offered was of good quality with a variety of options to cater to different tastes.
Moreover, the availability of plenty of restrooms and change areas made our visit smooth, especially with a toddler in tow. It’s evident that Questacon has thoughtfully considered the needs of families, making it a comfortable and enjoyable outing for both kids and adults alike.
In a nutshell, our visit to Questacon was a delightful blend of learning and fun. The well-maintained facilities, educational exhibits, and thoughtful amenities like restrooms and a change area, made our outing stress-free and enjoyable. I highly recommend Questacon for families with young children; it’s a place where curiosity is ignited and learning is made joyful.

What a place. Something for everyone here, a fascinating place jammed to the hilt with interactive and informative exhibits. We spent 3 hrs at Questacon and could have spent longer.
They handily have thought of everything, free of charge lockers available for those pesky bags, a fountain to fill your drink bottles.
The staff were next to none they were so friendly and engaging and ready to share all the info.

Lovely place to hang out with family..
There are 7 areas to explore.. The famous one is the Excited Area.. It is like a little playground for kids and grown up as well. There is a slide called free fall where you hang yourself on the bar before you slide down..It is quite daunting experience. 😁
There are few shows as well. It is free show. The theme of the show depend on the day you came. When we went there, we watched dinosaur show. There are two more show at 1.30 and 2.30 with different topic, but unfortunately we couldn't make it.
If you hungry, there are place to eat on the first level.
If you want to explore without bring your bag, you can save it in the locker provide it. Just talked to the staff member in ticket area about the locker, they will give you the coin to insert there. Once you are done, you can give it back to them..
You can spend time more than 3 hours if you are not in hurry.
Overall I like it there. Wish to stay longer.

The Questacon is a great day out for kids. Lots of galleries of various interactive displays for them to engage in. It could be a whole day event for kids.
The food in the Atomic Cafe is reasonable as well.
We visited on a day during the ACT school term so it wasn’t crowded with school aged kids. There were a number of other interstate visitors so it should be expected that it would be crowded during the ACT school holidays.
Overall, a great day out for kids!

Fantastic day of family fun! Our 8 year old adored it, and we did too. Heaps of interactive exhibits and a daily pass includes in/out privileges, so you can easily pop out for lunch.
We spent the entire day here, and my only complaint is a lack of bubblers, so bring a water bottle, I suppose!

Having been to a few museums now, it was great to take my 3yo to one specifically designed for them to touch and play with the exhibits. I think it would be more aimed towards someone 5+ but it was still great for my child, and we will definitely be back before he is 5.
The lighting inside is a bit dim, with the individual stations of an exhibit well lit, and overall it is very noisy, so if you or your child are easily overstimulated, it may not be the best place to bring them.

Every young Australian parent knows of Questacon. Those school trips to Canberra were simply made to come here.
I hadn't visited in over 5 years but I was eager to bring my family along again. We have a family pass that's used for the National Maritime Museum in Sydney so we get enter here with that also. Getting in was easy with the membership queue line.
The entry forecourt is filled with some activists that are just the start of your busy few hours here. You make your way up the big rano and will be greeted with hands-on activities to do before starting to make your way into the various areas of the museum. You can't rush through, take your time and let the children explore all the hands-on exhibits.
While the staple exhibits ars still here they also have what seems a few interactions that must change every so often. A few of the things I recall were not around anymore but change is good.
I was happy with the amount of hand sanitiser available (I know we are not in the pandemic) considering how very hands-on everything is.
The giant free-fall slide is an institutional thing you must do. It is pretty much the only ride in Canberra.
We had a great fun time chilling out under the moon in the end before exploring the gift shop.
If you come to Canberra you have to visit this place. Parking is free on weekends. Monday-Friday you do pay for parking.

The Galleries are split into different areas - earth, humans v AI etc. It was great fun. We went on a weekday during term time so there were a few schools there too but they were well behaved and we went were they weren't.

Can’t fault Questacon, it really is an amazing fun and interactive experience for kids and adults alike. We took our 3 and 6 year old and they both loved it. We went a couple of times over the Easter long weekend and saw the Dinosaur, Fire and Energy shows. The presenters were all amazing but shout out to Alice who did the Dinosaur show. Her show was exceptionally entertaining and her show had no explosions so hats off to her for doing such an engaging show without the aid of fires and explosions.
The cafe had some great lunch packs for kids too and the coffee was good so check that out while you’re there too!

We took our 2 kids aged 9 and 8 years during the school holidays. It was approx $70 for a family of four. During the ticket scanning the staff were very friendly and informed us of shows and times that where included in the ticket price.
We had an amazing time. Everything is hands on and interactive with each gallery focusing on different areas.
We could easily break off and head to the timed shows which were thoroughly entertaining (one focused on Fire, the other was colours.
Plenty of things to do that we managed to spend 4 hours there.
It was 20 times better than Melbourne's Science Works.

Bought tickets in advance. Was awesome experience with hands on science stuffs.
Was pretty cool to revise and see previous studied stuff.
One could easily spend about 3 hours here.
Great for kids of young adults.
Adults will enjoy as well if you like science stuff.

Had an incredible time at Questacon! The Liquid Nitrogen show was not only entertaining but also showcased fascinating scientific principles. The Earth Gallery provided a captivating exploration of our planet, and the AI Gallery was a cutting-edge journey into the future. A perfect blend of education and fun, making it an ideal destination for families and science enthusiasts.
Highly recommend the Liquid Nitrogen show, Earth Gallery, and AI Gallery for an enriching experience at Questacon!

Went here with family friends last year and the kids had loads of fun.. there are plenty of activities that you can play hands on. There are also programs for grownups too.
One of the programs is free-fall, where you drop from around 5 meters above onto a curved track( forgot what exactly the activity is called). But I have to say, it is very challenging/scary and entertaining too.
Definitely need to bring kids there at least once.

Questacon in Canberra is a stellar science and technology centre. Its interactive exhibits across various scientific fields effectively engage visitors of all ages, making science accessible and exciting. The educational programs, aligned with Australia's National Curriculum, are a valuable resource for schools. Questacon's outreach efforts, extending to remote areas, are commendable. While it excels in interactive learning, the centre could benefit from more in-depth content in some areas. Overall, its contribution to inspiring future scientists and its impact on the community is substantial and noteworthy. It's a great place to spend time with family here.

Kids 5 and 8 had the best time and we spent all day there and the kids didn't want to leave.
All the staff were excited and engaging with all activities the kids did.
They had a great day learning and exploring. They are talking about the next trip and can't wait to go again.
The national parliament building of Australia, also known as Parliament House or Capital Hill, was constructed in 1988 and is located on a vast hilltop. It has great symbolic value and its architecture represents the historical and legislative progression of Australian democracy. Inside the building, visitors can witness politicians debating in chambers. Parliament House serves as the meeting place for the parliament of Australia and is where the legislative branch of the government operates from. The attraction is open to public with ample car parking spaces available for visitors.
Parliament House, also referred to as Capital Hill or simply Parliament, is a must to see in Canberra. Its open to public with plenty of car parks. It is the meeting place of the Parliament of Australia, and the seat of the legislative branch of the Australian Government. Highly recommended.

The external architecture of this building is very interesting because it resembles a bunker. The interior is very well kept and the staff were very helpful, including offering to take our group photo. The Chamber is open for visitors. There is a nice cafeteria here too. Well worth a visit although we had to go through a metal detector on entry.

Take time to do a ‘best of parliament house’ tour as you get some great facts and information and behind the scenes places. Have to give a shout out to the staff at reception and cloakroom and security, super helpful and passionate, made the visit special

A great attraction to visit when in Canberra. The architecture is amazing and great to read the history of the building.
There are several areas that you can do when you visit which are mainly the Senate, House of Representatives, the roof, parliament cafe, store and walk the hallways. There is a map upon entry which indicates all of the aforementioned attractions. You can take some excellent photos of Canberra including Old Parliament House and War Memorial from the roof of Parliament House.
You can reach there by drive, walk or catch a bus to Parliament House and there is underground parking.
There is separate parking for vehicles with higher heights.
Access to Parliament House is via the main entry at the front of the building. Once you pass through security, you’ll find yourself inside the house.

Definitely worth the visit. We did the tour and it was worth it. The host was very friendly and knowledgeable. The cafe is definitely a good stop too. Great views of Canberra from the roof top. Not a fan of anything government but enjoyed the visit and the tour. Parking was easy and covered. Price of parking is reasonable.
Great education for kids too.

One of the most amazing and thoughtful architecture. I visited on the day when parliament was not sitting so ample parking was available ( free of cost due to holiday season). Plenty of option for free tour but prior booking is recommended. I took a paid guided architecture with James. He was very insightful and took us through many points of interest, their background and history.
Don’t forget to visit the rooftop which has awesome views of Canberra.
Kids also enjoyed it. Highly recommend

The Australian Parliament House is a wonderful building that brings out Australian history. It is wonderful opportunity to go inside the house of representatives and the senate. The building is beautiful and I would highly recommend it to anyone who wishes to see and learn about Australia's rich political history.

Stunning building and totally a cool place to visit. The only thing is the parking spaces are few and do not park at the spot that is reserved, otherwise you will get a fine for AUD 128( don’t ask me why I know that).
There’s a coffee shop inside the building and it’s great to have a cup of tea or coffee and enjoy the sunshine during winter.
There is also a post office that you can buy postcards and send them at the post office.

Great place to visit and get to know more about australia. Free parking space available, ramps and lifts are accesable as well. Cafe is available but only for dine in as you cannot bring coffee while touring around. Free tour but you just have to check the timings. Took lots of great photos. Try to go to the top level that has great views of the capital.

It's really designed and maintained beautifully.
It's a huge double story building.
They have the portraits of all the Presidents of Australia till dated.
They have the show case of all the ancient historical values items stored and shown in the glass case.
They have the names , portraits and history information about the Australian parliament.
They have a beautiful Parliament shop which includes a huge number of items to purchase specially as souvenirs or to gift someone.
Check the pictures for more information.
The old parliament is also seen from the main entrance and it's on the opposite side.
They have the beautiful green lawn , Australian flags and a small fountain in the front.
Overall it's beautiful and a must visit when in Canberra.
There is no entry ticket. It's for a Free tour and you are allowed to take the camera and mobiles inside.
You will just have a security check before you enter.

A great place to know about a bit of history from Australia. This building is called new Parliament House although it is 35 years old building. If you want to have a guided tour inside you can book a tour online before going. Recommend to book it in advance as tours are small groups only and can get booked pretty fast. Our guide was quite friendly and provided some nice facts about the building and how it was designed and constructed.

An incredible tour and highly recommended, even for those who aren't particularly interesting in politics! Booking several weeks ahead for the tour is recommended, with the tour guides providing lots of unique facts and information that you would otherwise miss, with each tour being about 45 minutes long.
After the tour, you're free to walk throughout the tourist areas within the Parliament House, with lots of paintings and information boards available. There's a small cafe inside too, and parking nearby, assuming there's no COVID-19 protestors in the vicinity.

Very interesting place to visit. There is a fantastic view from the top. I went on the highly recommended “Best of Parliament House” tour and the tour was amazing. The only thing that was disappointing was that although there were two working elevators to the rooftop, the staff only opened one of them, resulting in not only a fiendishly long queue, but also a very crammed space within the elevator itself. I strongly suggest for you to arrive earlier to avoid long queues for security at the front door.

We were planning on just a quick visit to this site, but we ended up spending a lot more time here because there was so much to see and do. The history and architecture of this building is fascinating, and it’s worth checking out the different areas including the rooftop. We went on the free Heart of the House tour with Matt which was great (though slightly shorter than we had hoped). We also ended up doing a tour with Nemo, who we found to be very knowledgeable, friendly, and enthusiastic. Both tour guides were great and we couldn’t have asked for better! Also, special thanks to the staff member who appeared to be in charge at the front desk (I think her name was Helene). She was quick to address our concerns and really made us feel welcome.
Docking one star due to a horrible experience we had with the security guard outside the senate chambers. Instead of just informing us that the site was partially closed, he started yelling at us in an extremely rude and unprofessional manner while talking on this phone.
Overall, definitely worth the visit. Highly recommended for both tourists and locals!

An Interesting Building! Politics, what more can I say? Lots!! The building is lovely, the portraits - Paintings were nice, but the best part of the Tour was Peter of "Transtar Coaches"! Peter is a very knowledgeable man and was very patient with everyone's questions - but also excellent at providing all the Information needed on what goes on in Parliament. Take the Tour, you will enjoy it!

Loved the free tour guide by Jack who took us through the House Of Representatives into the private viewing of the public gallery, and explained how it worked meaning the how the colour concept derived from the House of Lords and incorporated the Aussie gum leave colours.
He also explained everything about the Clocks, Speakers, flags, soundproof areas and much more ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
The grand ball room was amazing and it even had a Christmas tree in the foyer.

Our visit to Parliament House was really enjoyable. The security staff were not only professional but also very friendly, creating a welcoming atmosphere right from the start. It's worth mentioning that entry is free.
We appreciated the thorough yet efficient security checks before entering. It made us feel secure without causing any hassle. Inside, there's a cafe and a shop, adding a convenient touch to the overall experience.
The whole setup is well-organized, making it a great place to spend some time. Whether you're interested in the political aspect or just want to explore, Parliament House offers a welcoming environment. Five stars for a smooth and pleasant visit!

Visiting the Parliament House, which represents an Australia, was a very rewarding and wonderful experience.
It was easy to park because I visited by car, and I felt like I was entering a government building after going through security at the entrance.
The seating arrangement of the upper and lower houses was the same, but the seating arrangement of the ruling and opposition parties, the color of the chairs that distinguish the upper and lower houses, and the seat arrangement for government ministers in front of the lower house meeting room were impressive.
Portraits of former prime ministers were beautifully displayed on the second floor.
It was also impressive to watch the Chamber from the public gallery, and I recommend visiting it.
At the exit, there is a shop that sells souvenirs.

The Australian Parliament in Canberra offers a captivating experience for tourists. The architecture is striking, and the guided tours provide insightful glimpses into the country's political history. The efficiency of parliamentary sessions and the professionalism displayed by officials enhance the visit. I'd rate it 4.5 stars for its enriching experience.
The National Museum of Australia is a contemporary waterfront structure showcasing artifacts that depict 50,000 years of Australian history and culture. Along with exhibitions on national heritage, the museum features blockbuster traveling exhibits, including the Gallery of First Australians which explains the traditions and history of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, as well as an interactive outdoor exhibit called The Garden of Australian Dreams. The museum's layout can be confusing at times but guided tours are available throughout the day to help visitors navigate through it all.
An amazing museum so rich in history, would recommend spending a few hours if visiting Canberra. It's free entry with plenty of parking. The exhibits are awesome with something to interest everyone.

Plenty parking, great location. Extensive collection, be prepared to walk. A huge collection of indigenous artefacts and information. A large area was under renovation so all we saw was the first nation displays really. Cafe is nice worth an outside terrace, modern and clean facilities in general. Should not miss this place, especially considering entry is free.

the NMA each time we come to Canberra. This time it was to see the Feared and Revered exhibition - which is EXCELLENT!!! 10 stars out of 5.
The museum itself has changed a bit since we were last there but was lacking anything really new to see (in fact we think there are less displays than our last visit). The rotating theatre is gone, and so is the more kid focused space where your art was put into a computer.
Still worth the visit but maybe only if you are seeing an advertised exhibit.

I was there for the special exhibition on Egypt. Very well done. Of course I also looked at the actual National Museum. I think the division into two parts is actually quite good. On the one hand you learn about the climatic conditions. And then the regional peculiarities and the whole interaction of nature. Excellent. Another part is devoted to "human history" - the Aborigines. It makes you think about what the settlers did around the world.
Christian Weitzer — Google review
Loved the Aboriginal section. Very educational and interactive. Took about 1.5hrs to go through it all. Didn't go into the Greek history section or cyber intelligence due to personal time restrictions. There wasn't really much more than that to see. Free entry into general museum was a bonus

The National Museum of Australia is one of those must see exhibitions in Canberra. Although some parts are temporarily closed for renovation there is enough to keep you entertained for a couple of hours. School aged children will greatly benefit from the exhibition, in particular, the professional way it has been put together.
How our country has developed over the milennia is amazing, interesting, and a gold mine of information. It's also entertaining.
Morning tea, afternoon tea and lunch are classy and more than good enough to keep the family going for the duration.
From the city it's about a 28 minute walk or a quick cab or bus ride.
Well worth the visit.

A great way for kids and adults alike, to learn so much about almost anything under the sun. It's been a remarkable experience for my family and I. We only had 45 minutes to spare so the lovely guys at the reception gave us clear instructions on what would be the best section to see, keeping the age of my elder one (9 year old) in mind.
As a family, we decided that this place needs at least 4 hours if we wanted to do justice as the wealth of information is too much. We shall surely visit again.

If you’re from overseas you may find all the first nations stuff half interesting (which feels like 75% of the museums space), but if you’re from Australia its just the same boring stuff as every other capital city museum now. How about the old days of fun things kids enjoy like dinosaurs? Our kids were bored the whole time and despite the cool building it was a flop. The 3D antarctica was the best part (which you have to pay for)

While driving from Sydney to Melbourne we took a detour to Cootamundra to checkout Sir Don Bradman’s birthplace. Being a cricket fan it was great to see the room in which Don Bradman was born, it’s well preserved with lots of memorabilia and things about Don’s cricketing career. There is small entry fee of $5 for adults and kids are free. The Midwife who delivered Sir Don Bradman ran a small private hospital from the front room of her house, it was refurbished in 1991 and opened to public in 1992. Definitely worth a visit for every cricket fan.

While it was great to see all former captains of the Australian Men’s Cricket Teams, it was bitterly disappointed that not one female captain is yet to feature in the walk. Because this walk is NOT called Australian Men’s Captains Walk. There is in fact no mention of gender and yet only one gender is represented here.
We’ve had female test cricket captains for at least 90 years. Why are they not here too?

Was told about this place by a friendly lady at the Information Centre and almost didn't visit. Decided to stop off and found it well worth it. Not too far off the main road, and the size of these trees and their regular arrangement was quite the sight.
Wouldn't go out of your way to get here, but if you're already going past, this is a great place to stop for a quick wander (though keep in mind, it's a forest, so there are no facilities and you'll need to take all your rubbish out with you)

I loved the coolness and quiet in the Sugarpines walk. Very different atmosphere to anywhere outside in the middle of summer. I can't wait to get up there in winter. It's very contemplative and reserved a nice escspe.

What a treasure! The smaller the town in Australia....the bigger the heart. Holbrook is a friendly, interesting and lovely town. Definately worth a visit.

Awesome museum, which is not in the submarine like I thought it was 😅
It's close to it.
Lots of history and cool things to check out.

What a cool place to stop at on your road trip to Canberra, Sydney or Melbourne. It’s got some truely awesome old submarines with a lot to explore as you wander the grounds.
If you need a break on your road trip this is the perfect place for it, no matter if it’s for the photo op, a chance to stretch or a picnic in the park.
Would love to go back and check out more of the museum portion of this exhibit however with the submarine being open all day every day, and the park too it’s an easy stop at any point on your trip.

What a picturesque place to stop on your way to or from Sydney.
We stopped here for lunch at the Holbrook bakery. Fantastic baked goods and delicious coffee, a must-visit for a snack.
The Oberon class submarine is a fantastic place to learn about Australian and British naval history. Take a photo with the huge half-submerged submarine in the park.
After this, you must visit the museum/visitors centre to take a walk through time. Stick around and watch the holographic history lesson in the centre's theatre.
As of 08/03/22, the cost for an adult ticket to the museum is $7. Well worth it.

Interesting and educational on the history of submarines, inside the museum there is a section of a submarine where you step inside and feel what it is like to sleep and work in a confine area, there is also a working periscope you can operate, respectable price $5 concession, staff are helpful and courteous, highly recommend this museum

One of the must do stopover when driving between Melbourne and Sydney/Canberra.
I know its weired to imagine a submarine displayed inland but hey the name of this town was changed to honour decorated WW1 hero Lt Norman Douglas Holbrook who captained the unsinkable terror (submarine HMS B11).
The submarine displayed is the hull of real HMS B11 submarine and you can see the sheer size of it.
The museum is great as it offers a great insight into the life of the mariners in submarine. There are 6 displays to showcase various sections of the submarine.
They have a good 3d holographic story narration for the curious minds that takes you through the achivements of HMS B11.
What a beautiful location. We had a lovely afternoon, beautiful food and wine and friendly hosts. Will be coming back soon. Thank you.

Amazing local, off-grid, forward-thinking, award-winning winery/cafe/restaurant, nestled away ~30mins from Albury in a beautiful hidden location, peaceful surrounds in amongst the valleys. It’s near the recently completed Woomargama Lookout, with great views of the surrounding valleys, where from some points you can even see Mt Kosciusko too. Owners Julianne and Les were amazing hosts, giving us great info about the areas, produce and their process. Eating areas are: outdoors, on deck with umbrellas for shade, and indoor, incl a comfy fireplace. Food was fresh, full of flavour. Barramundi with Prosciutto salad was superb. Great pairings with their own, award-winning Reisling. Wonderful coffee using a local Albury brew from The Brothers Cup. Great experience, will be back as we hear some sweeter wines, are nearly ready. 😉 We were treated to a special visit from Graham Robertson, an Antarctic polar biologist, who’s done a lot to help the fishing industry clean up their harmful practices. Everyone had great stories to tell. Delightful experience all around!

The first thing you notice about this place before you even get to the car parking is the amazing view...it's nestled between the Woomargama National Park just a short drive from Holbrook.
Juliane & Les are your hosts, they do a wonderful job at making you feel right at home when trying the drops produced on site as well as talking passionately about how they are produced.
There's a cafe which has a selection of to die for food & also options for those who do not drink/drink wine with beer/soft drink/coffee.
You will also find a play area along the side deck which makes the idea of having the kids along with you not so bad.
They are open most weekends and take bookings for other times of the week.
A great find!

Called into the winery today (Sunday) for a wine tasting. I was informed by an elderly gent that it would cost $20 for 4 wines per head. I commented that that was a bit expensive, I was told " my time does not come cheap on a Sunday". Too stunned to reply we just walked out.

Flyfair is a beautiful winery. Les and Julianne are very friendly and accommodating.
The wines and the food was similarly lovely and made for a very relaxing afternoon.
Thank you both, we will definitely be back! :)

What a hidden gem! We were so warmly welcomed by Les and Julianne and were delighted in our sit down experience with Les, sampling all those beautiful wines produced at Flyfaire and coming to understand just why they are so unique! Lets just say we now have a whole new appreciation for what a Riesling has to taste like!! Will definitely be stopping by again!

I visited recently with my 2 sisters and niece and enjoyed the wine tasting and the story about how they are produced. I loved the bottle collection on the wraparound verandah. The setting is very pleasant and relaxing. I did not taste the food this trip but will on next trip with some family and extended family from England in the very near future. The site is developing and I cannot wait to see the finished product when completed.
