Would 100% recommend coming to this place. Owners are super friendly and has great insight of the area and wines. Sampled some amazing wines and just had a great time. Plus if you love dogs their dog Maeve was there and they let us get her a pat. Highly recommend if you are passing. It’s a pretty special place.

PRETTY DISAPPOINTED
I have been trying to get my family together for a day at Wobbly boot as we are all dog lovers and have 4 dogs between us, so much so they brought me a voucher as a gift to encourage our outing
We are wine lovers and what a great combination
We arrived late in the afternoon to find that a grey hound
party was all sitting near the gate to the off dog lead area, so we went into another area with our doggies, not sure if we should bust through the gate in front of them as they had the monopoly over that region
There was no directions or instructions on what was required or where to go
There was no seating only pallets to sit on and no organisation/ signage
We had to go get blankets out of the cars to sit on as we also had a 18 month old baby. We didn't bring any food which was an over site by us, but not sure about a venue that serves alcohol and not food ??
We had to go to the counter and order drinks. carry the glasses, drinks, water etc back to where we sat, on wooden pallets ,there was 8 of us so a big challenge, no trays or help was offered , Most of my time was walking back and forward from car to seat then from seat to counter, no big deal but on leaving I did not have a red wine glass in my hand for returning to the counter and was questioned by the lady as to where it might be.
Luckily my daughter was following close behind us with it in her hand to return. Wow okay so they obviously don't clean up after guests My daughter commented on the lack of serve or friendliness of the staff
The owners didn't seem to give us much thought, I was talking to the person serving me when a grey hound person walked in , butted in and talked over the top of me, this seemed to be okay with the person serving me and dropped everything to help them
During that time one of our 6 month old doggies went to explore and a lady came out and said this is an on lead area and said there is off lead area's over there and pointed in a direction, it was vague and we were unable to find it due to no signage. She had obviously been closely watching us ensuring we did the right thing
I felt uncomfortable, unwanted , and my children stressed as they had suggested we go there as a family to celebrate our loved doggies, there is no signage or assistance so if you are a first timer as I was you are walking around not knowing what you are doing.
The owners are not friendly, helpful nor is there any kind of signage, my advice take your dog to a dog park, better value and you wont be frowned upon. I will not return , ps my dog also had worms and although it may of not been from there and I cant say it was... Im just saying days after my dog had worms , The wine is okay but not amazing so disappointing

Went there on a Sunday for pizza and vino. We brought our dog Scotty with us knowing that the venue is dog friendly.
The place is very quaint and just picturesque. The staffs are friendly and there are 2 runs for dogs, for small and big ones. The dogs yesterday were behaved and friendly and quite entertaining seeing them play with each other.
We bought a reisling which was smooth and a very good vino. We had pizzas too as it was a pizza special day. The place was packed but everyone was enjoying the drinks and pizzas.

The wine was lovely and I really liked the fenced off dog areas so that all the family were able to go and have a day out

Fantastic and beautiful location! Beautiful wines and great service. Make a day out of it and take your puppies down to listen to some visit and drink some good wine.

Zoodoo Zoo is a small to medium-sized wildlife park that offers a range of interactive experiences, including animal feeding and informative talks throughout the day. Visitors can enjoy seeing a variety of birds and mammals, both native and imported. The zoo has excellent farmyard and wallaby feeding paddocks, as well as efforts to preserve Swift Parrots. One highlight is the Lion experience where visitors can see these amazing creatures up close. Additionally, guests can watch zebras and other Australian animals in their enclosures.
Small but beautifully maintained zoo. So many opportunities to get up close with the animals. The animal encounters were all incredible and the Lions Raw is a must for all big cat lovers. Our guides Jake and Mikey were both brilliant. Look out for Shelly the duck, biggest character in the zoo.
Demi Broxham — Google review
Was a fun place to visit and learn about the animals as there were lots of informative talks throughout the day.
We also booked in for the Lion experience and loved that... they were so amazing up close... I just wanted to cuddle them!
Jessica Dwery — Google review
The whole family had a great afternoon at Zoodoo! We will be purchasing the annual pass as it is definitely worth it. Our family are new residents to Tassie so have loved seeing Tasmanian Devils and meeting the friendly kangaroos.
Amy Mansell — Google review
Took our Granddaughter in the hopes that you could still go on the bus ride through the ostriches and camels. We were disappointed to find that they don't do that anymore. I found it to be a bit pricey for what was on offer. In saying that, we still enjoyed ourselves and are glad that we went.
Donna Watson — Google review
I liked it here. There are some beautiful animals and some animals I've never seen before in other mainland zoos. The Wombats were awake and active, and we got to watch a feeding. The zoo is wheelchair and pram friendly, and the gradient isn't too step, but you can give yourself a nice workout if you tried. All the animals in the petter areas were friendly and approachable, and all the staff were knowledgeable and friendly. The kids play area and small cafe is a great place to have a rest if planning on spending all day, or grabbing and ice cream on the way out.
I had to remove a star as the entire kids' area smelt like cigarette as people were by their cars smoking, and it came directly in, not very healthy unfortunately. But overall, it was a wonderful day out for the family.
Jasmine McCollom — Google review
Such a fun little place - lots of good animals both native and imported. Really good keeper chats. Excellent farmyard and wallaby feeding paddocks too. Bravo on your efforts on preserving Swift Parrots too.
Grace Less — Google review
The zoo is not big but full of fun. You can interact with kangaroos and other animals. The animals look healthy. I think the zoo keepers are doing a great job.
Claire Hsu — Google review
Went there for the zoo experience and it didn’t disappoint, worth every cent and a must do, we did the full experience it was the extra cost , with out this experience I wouldn’t of thought much of the zoo but this has left a ever lasting impression and the hands on experience gave a good insight into the keepers and the animals and there individual personalities,
Shane J — Google review
We chose to spend a day in Zoodoo zoo as our last day of the Tassie trip.
The price may be a bit expensive but I felt totally worthy as the zookeepers and staffs took care of the animals very well. Once you got in, you can visit big cat lion, zebra, monkey and have a chance to feed kangaroos and donkey.
The overall visiting experience for me is that, Zoodoo zoo felt more like a 'farm' than a 'zoo' as all animals are living happily and peacefully. Highly recommend the experience🐒🐱🐈🦁🦓🐪🐐🦥
Darren — Google review
A medium-size zoo. I enjoyed watching zebras 🦓. You can spot other Australian animals too. The zoo is worth visiting once.
Subhash Chandran — Google review
The setting of the zoo was out of the suburbs.
There was quite a lot of conservation information.
The variety of animals for the size of the zoo was quite adequate.
Being able to feed macropods (kangaroos) and farm animals was delightful.
Letitia Scott — Google review
Enjoyed feeding the animals, kangaroo paddock felt a little small for so many? But had a good time none the less
Jordan Ellingham — Google review
For a small zoo surprisingly good! Animal experience are very affordable and informative. Had a ball honestly, highlight of our trip
koukli — Google review
For a small country zoo there was a very unique variety of animals, recommend not visiting in the middle of the day as most animals are nocturnal and are asleep.
The keepers do a great job during talk times, personalised experiences seemed a bit expensive since they didn't last long.
Amanda Kavanagh — Google review
A must visit while in Tassie especially with kids. A good animal feeding experience and we got to see new animals which we haven't seen in Melbourne zoo. The Cafe is great to and a play area for kids as well. Soo many chirpy birds, a woow experience.
Nandini Sharma — Google review
Was pleasantly surprised by such a variety of animals well housed and presented in a what seemed to be a relatively small area. Easy to walk around. As a lazy reader I really liked the QR code activated video introduction/ description of animals by keepers at each enclosure. Seemed like there was something for everyone.
Andrew W — Google review
Was a nice day out didn't get to see alot of the animals due to maintenance with the enclosures.
Definitely bring sunscreen as there's not much shade around
Laura Wilton — Google review
This is the best zoo we've ever been to. You get to interact and feed some of the animals. The zoo is not packed out, you have alot of privacy and space to explore at your own pace. There are alot of animals to see. The staff are very friendly and there is a play area for the kids.

The Wooden Boat Centre - Tasmania
Visitor center
Excellent tour from a very knowledgeable guide. Very interesting both in the history of the centre, the training and the restoration projects. Definitely make it a stop on your way through.
James Michael — Google review
This was a most informative visit. We stopped by chance and the staff could not have been more accommodating. The guide was a font of knowledge and the skills of boat building being taught was inspiring to see the old skills passed on while making the most of the limited Huon pine available.
Jane Purdie — Google review
Stopped here to take some photos and ended up on the Wooden Boatbuilding School tour. Big shout out to Will who gave us a thorough explanation of the history of the school, the processes, the area, the competitions etc
Very informative ☺️
Tour takes approx 30 mins @ $17.50
Michele McAllister — Google review
A fantastic tour and information on types of wood and boats. Very few schools exists in the world, so lucky we were able to see the techniques in action. Very friendly staff and plenty of parking.
moni lee — Google review
An excellent facility. Great history and knowledge of the local timbers involved in ship and boat building. Paying for a tour was a great idea to support the school and facility as well as get in-depth timber wisdom from the excellent volunteer guide.
Noel Dixon — Google review
What an interesting place! The tour was incredibly interesting and accommodating. I recently had a knee replacement so was quickly provided with a chair which was carried along as the tour progressed.
Suna Stirk — Google review
For anyone interested in history and boat building this is for you. Fascinating place with really passionate volunteers who really know their stuff. And they run courses. 10/10
Allan Marais — Google review
Do the tour! I learnt so much. The centre was so busy with students and volunteers who were passionate about their craft. The wooden boats are beautiful!
Rachael Jordan — Google review
Interesting place and great to see old traditions carried on. Unfortunately we didn't have the time to do the tour. Definitely next time.
john neville — Google review
Enjoyed a tour of the workshop and explanation of some of the traditional crafts. The center does a good job of keeping wooden boat building alive in a practical way.
owen church — Google review
Just walked in and lucky no wait as a Tour just began.
$15/ticket. Great tour and great information. I would recommend. After tour, I want to enrol and have 10 boats.
B — Google review
Showroom was smaller than we expected. Would have been better if we could have done the informative tour through the workshop. Amazing workmanship, beautiful boats outside and in, lovely location. We enjoyed it.
Elizabeth Meikle — Google review
With no previous interest or experience in boats, let alone boat building, we weren’t quite sure if this would be up our alley! Well, it was brilliant and we would totally recommend the tour to anyone visiting the area. Bryan was a wonderful guide who explained the history of the wooden boat industry as well as the intricacies of building. He was thoroughly entertaining and it was a highlight of our trip to the Huon Valley.
Claire Duncan — Google review
Fascinating experience even if you're not all that interested in wooden boats
Fantastic experience. Amazing ship and beautiful to hear of the families experience of rebuilding it from a wreck and sailing her all around the world. Perfect day out.
Nick Ritar — Google review
Amazing tour, a must do Tasmanian treat. The weather forecast was for a wet and windy day. However the rain held off for most of our time out on the river. When it did rain the shelter on deck kept us mostly dry. Ea and David’s story of the restoration and build of the Ketch is very interesting. The ship is very safe and the soup lunch was delicious. Thank you for a great tour of both the river and your vess

Just spent 4 days with this wonderful crew on the Yukon Franklin to Recherche Bay! Exquisite. A wonderful adventure to close the End of year. Warmly welcomed, made comfy, drawn into the pristine oceans of Southern Tasmania, with stories. fine sailing, good food and company. Thank you.

Incredible experience! Cosy cabins and delicious food. A beautiful ship and the crew were very friendly. Overall just a very charming atmosphere. If I could give more stars I would!

What a delightful 2 hours, spent sailing on the Huon River. A fully restored wooden sailing boat takes you gently past the most spectacular scenery you could imagine. Well worth a sail.

What a wonderful way to spend a few hours on a Sunday morning sailing the Franklin River - hearing the story of one very adventurous family, drinking coffee, nibbling on homemade biscuits, learning about the history of Franklin . A must do for all locals and visitors ......

In the top 10 things of Tasmania. Great experience, friendly people David an Ena. Well worth a few hours meandering on the river. No swell or rocking. Good wsy to see Tassy from a different view.

Highly recommended! We really enjoyed our calm water 'voyage' and also relished Ea's home made biscuits. Thank you Ea and David.
I recently purchased an incredible vintage bike from Huon Bikes. The bike was expertly restored by Damian and it’s clear a lot of thoughtfulness, creativity and love went into it. The bike looks great and is a dream to ride. I received excellent customer service from Damien who took me through his wide range of bikes and told me a story about each with pride. He asked me about my cycling needs and helped me select the most suitable bike for me. It was really cool to see how he built each bike to be so unique. Damien was very friendly and knowledgeable. Can’t recommend Houn Bikes enough!
Ezra Thomas — Google review
We had the best experience buying our kids’ latest bikes from Damien. He not only helped us find the best bike for my son, he rebuilt one from scratch to fit what my daughter wanted. Both tough bikes for tough farm kids. Can’t recommend highly enough.
Matthew Tack — Google review
Thanks to Damien, my Schwinn commuter bike is now restored to as new condition after 6 odd years of gradual deterioration - it's very refreshing to have it back on the road, now much safer and fun to use. Damien is easy and friendly to deal with and possesses an eye for detail that deserves great continued success. Breathe new life into your bicycling days via Huon Bikes!
Daniel Anderson — Google review
I Had a great experience with Damien at Huon bikes. His work is good, prices are fair, and his communication is excellent! Damien explained the process before doing the work and showed me what he had done when I came to pick it up and also explained how I can care for my bike to avoid further damage. I will be returning to Huon Bikes for future bike maintenance and repairs.

Just picked up my beloved KONA road/mountain bike hybrid from Damien, who refurbished it to almost new! He provided friendly and efficient service, fair prices, and a detailed and itemised receipt of work he conducted. I highly recommend Damien to help get your bike back on the road or onto the trails!
Christine Weldrick — Google review
Amazing service! Damien is a wonderful man that helped me find the perfect bike I needed. Prompt reply and relevant information supplied for my purchase. Even free delivery and more info about the bike on transaction. No issues and does fixes on site if required. Don't hesitate, he has flavours for all folks. Cheers Damien!

Today we purchased a really old bmx from Damien at Huon bikes and to say the service was great is an understatement. The bike was well priced but also the way Damien treats his customers is beyond professional. We will definitely be back again for another great buy in the near future thanks heaps to Huon Bikes 👏🏻

Very responsive, reasonably priced, patient to explain what was needed v’s optional and easy to talk to. Thanks Damien, our young boys appreciated the quick turn around to get us back to the bike track efficiently. Highly recommended.

Damien at Huon Bikes is great guy with excellent customer service and skills in his trade to match. I bought an aluminium racing bike from him and couldn't be happier. I even got a bonus pair of clip-in shoes and choice of 2 seats !!! 😁
Anthony Loberto — Google review
A fantastic bike shop and place for all your bike needs! Damien is super enthusiastic and knowledgeable with great capacity for understanding your cycling needs. Bike service was awesome and I’m set for my next adventure. Thanks so much!
Olivia Bittner — Google review
With a personal penchant for things sentimental, repurposed, yet practical, I visited Damien’s store and rolled out with a delightful ‘alpine’ Apollo bike, perfect for local Tassie trails. Damien provided maintenance on my bike, helpful tips, and conversation. I feel my bike really matches my story, and I look forward to plenty of riding adventures. Head in to Huon bikes to find the perfect ride for you, with a frame with its own story to tell! Thanks Damien :)
Tara Creighton — Google review
A wonderful bike shop and great customer service by Damien, he was a huge help to me on my bike tour of Tasmania. Had me up and running in no time! Thanks again!!
David Bonetti — Google review
Dropped my bike off in the morning, with zero booking. Fitted me in, fixed my bike up with great communication explaining everything as he went.
Super happy with my service. Could not recommend enough. So glad his service is based down here in the valley.
Contemporary space with floor-to-ceiling windows, serving Modern Australian food and regional wines.
Sunday lunch, very busy noisy dining room due to poor acoustics and everyone is having a good time!
That is the only downside (noisy)
The food ( I had lamb loin) was some of the best I have had. Beautiful with some additional veg which unfortunately you have to pay extra for. The great thing about Home Hill is that it is where they make Landslide Pinot Noir wine, a bloody gorgeous wine particularly with a sumptuous lamb loin with a precisely cooked pink centre.
Our party of six all thoroughly enjoyed their meals...so thanks again Home Hill for some lovely memories.
A. M. Kirby — Google review
Overall the experience was mediocre. The place was very beautiful and the quality of food and wine was unparalleled. My steak was cooked as I wanted. The wine, Home Hill Estate Pinot, was one of the best ones I've ever tried. Hiwever, unfortunately the waitress were not friendly at all and ruined the good vibes. When she was serving the food on the table, she did it intensely that a piece of the vegetables in my dish was thrown out on the table.
The Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary is a rescue center that offers educational tours and up-close viewings of endangered native wildlife. The spacious enclosures are home to Forester kangaroos, Tasmanian devils, wombats, echidnas, quolls, koalas, and emus. Visitors can also watch vets working at the hospital treating resident and rescued wildlife. Nocturnal tours are available for an additional fee.
Had a wonderful day here, the animals all look cared for and loved. The sanctuary has some great features and lots of information. Multiple tours throughout the day included in entry price and the carers are well informed and happy to answer questions. Would highly recommend an animal encounter and love that the proceeds go back into helping the animals.
Ruth Bartrim — Google review
Excellent place caring for our injured wildlife and giving them a forever home. A great place to bring kids and even the grand parents. A great family adventure. You get to feed the kangaroos and can even book a night time view of all the nocturnal animals. Wish there were more places like this around
Caralyn Bryan — Google review
Absolutely wonderful place. I spent my birthday here and couldn't have wished for a better place. The staff is very kind and knowledgeable. Kangaroos are super friendly (and hungry!) so feel free to feed them with the food provided. I recommend booking one (or more) of the closer experiences - totally worth it.
Lucie Tichá — Google review
When I was here on my tour, I mainly got to see the wombats Tasmanian devils and the kangaroos. The kangaroos we got to feed and pet. Bonorong wildlife sanctuary is such a cool place. You need to make sure you get to spend a good amount of time.Worth going to. The staff is very nice and knowledgeable about the animals they’re helping. This is not a zoo. It is a sanctuary were they help recover animals.
Emily Paige — Google review
Well worth a trip to take the family to. Most animals are rescued, and the staff are very knowledgeable. Hand feeding kangaroos is always fun. Byo food as there is only a small vegan food outlet
ross w — Google review
I FINALLY SAW A WOMBAT!!! So cute! It was the highlight. The staff were really knowledgeable and informative. Would recommend you join their free tours where they bring you around to the wombat and Tasmanian devils enclosures.
Unfortunately when we went, the kangaroo enclosure was closed due to introduction of new joeys. The place isn’t very big but you get to see all the main Australian species. They run on entrance fee collected from visitors, so do give them the support!
Jennifer Yeo — Google review
Highlight of our Aussie trip! Absolutely loved this place and the interaction we had with the animals (we did the night tour and got to feed kangaroos, tasmanian devils, wombats, birds among many others). It was heartwarming to see the rescue animals treated so well and hearing each of their stories made it extra special. Our guide, Monica, was fantastic and so passionate about what she does. Thank you for this unforgettable experience!
Patricia Nicole Cruz — Google review
The sanctuary is amazing and surely is worth a visit. We mainly visited the sanctuary to see the Tasmanian devils but we were surprised by way more than just Tasmanian devils. The sanctuary tickets are quite pricey, but that’s understood as the ticket fees are flowing into the sanctuary itself. With the Tasmanian devils and the different encounters available including the kangaroo feeding area, it makes the place worth the visit. And not to forget mentioning the amazing 110 year old cockatoo Peter, hope to see you again safe and sound in perfect health !!
Rashid Alsuwaidi — Google review
All the staff genuinely care for the animals, are friendly and knowledgeable. You can get up close and personal with the animals & also view through a 2 way mirror where the animals go for surgery ect. There’s a cute little vegan place that serves the most delicious home made recipes <3

Also special animals are here!
We especially liked to watch the koalas 🐨 and the wombats!
But there are also cute kangaroos 🦘which you can touch and feed!
My husband had fun feeding a kangaroo 🦘!
THIS PARK IS REALLY SOMETHING SPECIAL!

A lovely experience with some good feelings to take away. Bonorong are saving animals, giving them good homes and educating us with a great day out. Knowledgeable, helpful staff and a stroll around feeding the kangaroos and aweing over the devils was relaxing and fun. I recommend.
Brooke Harriss — Google review
The Carers at the sanctuary were all fantastic, you can hear their passion and sincerity for the animals during their tours and general walk around. Whilst it's sad to learn of the animals making their way to this sanctuary, it's fantastic to know this exists as it is the only Wildlife sanctuary in Tasmania which was surprising.
It's not a Zoo, so don't expect fancy themed enclosures and gimmicks, the sanctuary is essentially a safe place for orphaned or rehabilitation animals, it wasn't a bother for us because we knew the money went directly to supporting the Sanctuary and their animal's care.
The trip out to Bonorong was fantastic seeing the terrain, farms and countryside was soothing.
Highlight was to see active echnidnas, Tasmanian devils and Winnie the Wombat.
Alf Alf — Google review
We loved Bonorong Sanctuary. Its a small sanctuary doing amazing work with an excellent selection of animals in their care for visitors to view. We took the private feeding tour which was worth the investment. Feeding and cuddling stella the 11 month old wombat, and feeding the tassie devils were highlights. Highly recommend visiting, especially if you have children who love animals.
Anne Brisbane — Google review
We went to do an animal encounter and ended up staying and doing a night tour - honestly best decision we made! Was such an insightful tour and Robyn was an amazing guide. We learnt so much about all the animals, the conservation efforts Bonorong has in place and also got up close with them and gave them their dinner. We learnt all the animals names, their stories, fun facts about each of them and really entered their world! It was such a fun time and an experience I will never forget. Robyn is also so lovely, great to chat with, and was such an insightful guide. We visited from mainland but can’t wait to come back.
Gemma Lee Smith — Google review
This sanctuary all of its members and volunteers have done so much for these animals and continue to do so. We’re visiting from Melbourne and decided on a trip to Bonorong today. We spent in excess of three hours enjoying everything this place had to offer. The animals were amazing, the staff were courteous and very well-informed (including the short tour) and the vegan food stall was awesome.
Thanks for all you’re doing for wildlife and animals in general.
Ilbron Osalian — Google review
One of the best sanctuaries I have ever been to.
The little ones loved it and were very impacted by the work that is done by the volunteers.
We had a lot of fun with the animals and were introduced to new ones like the quill and the little echidnas.
The vegan cafe was excellent with the variety of options and we actually ordered everything!

Had a great & memorable experience at Bonorong. Very cool to get an up and close visit with Tasmania’s wildlife and learn so much along the way. The member of the team Elise was very knowledgeable and caring for all the animals. Would really recommend anyone thinking of visiting to stop in here.

Ample parking available near the sanctuary. Free kangaroo feed with each entry pass purchased. We joined one of the tour and love the sharing of information. Educational for both adults and children.
Wild rabbits roam freely in the park.
There’s a small food & drink kiosk, should one need a bite.

Really incredible personal experience visiting Bonorong. We were able to get close to these unique Australian animals. Knowing that the money spent is going back to preservation makes it even more worth it. Their staff is fantastic too and doing great job taking care of these animals. Highly recommended.

We did the feeding frenzy for a family of 4 and it was so amazing. We had such a wonderful, knowledgeable and lovely tour guide, Lauren, who was so great with our kids and knew so much about all the questions we had. I highly recommend this tour its a great way to get to know the native animals.
Laura Wilton — Google review
Very chill. Vegan snack bar was a plus. Join the tour for better education. Hand feed the Roos. It’s a rescue center too. Drive out from Hobart is pleasant. Plan on a couple of hours to leisurely observe and take the right photos

Such a fun wildlife sanctuary. You’re Guaranteed to see a Tasmanian Devil, more kangaroos than you could want plus a plethora of other interesting critters.
The on sight animal hospital also offers an opportunity to learn more about some of Australia’s fragile wildlife.
Be sure to stop at the gift shop on the way out to grab a present or two for yourself and someone back home; you’re supporting a great cause.
Overall the staff and facility are top notch and I’ll be back on my next visit.
Ben Ross — Google review
They're doing wonderful work here to rehabilitate animals and educate people. The guided tour was very interesting and informative but didn't cover all the animals, only Tasmanian devils and echidnas. I would have loved to learn about the other animals there.
The guide did mention that they're expanding but I was quite surprised by how small it was.
It was a very hot day when we visited so we didn't see the wombat at all, as it was hiding in its den. We did have the chance to interact with kangaroos and wallabies with no fence in between and they also take food out of your hands. There is complimentary feed in boxes along the way and they were very friendly.
Rekha C — Google review
A great way to spend half a day. This sanctuary is small and simple and a lot of fun for adults and children alike. We loved the tour included in our tickets, such an informative session with lots of great information. The food range on offer is limited but tasty. Our toddler loved feeding the kangaroos! The insight into how they rescue injured wildlife was really interesting.
Shout out to Kat! We did a tasting and the tour, Kat was an informative and fun tour guide - even giving us a great tip for dinner (Bar Wa was delicious Kat thank you!!). All around a perfect day full of delicious whisky. Already planning our next trip back :)
Marco Reyes — Google review
Beautiful part of the world and great ambience inside the cellar door. The gin was excellent but unfortunately no tonic with the tasting flight. Also they charge you for the flight when you purchase where other distilleries waive it. Bonus was to walk in & experience the distillery.
Jo Mohi — Google review
Beautiful gothic architecture - the buildings and the complex are absolutely stunning! The release 3 whisky and solvers whisky are much better than other Tasmanian whiskies on the market and it was a please you speak to the owners and distillers on-site.
Do have a wander around the old stables and be in awe of the holiday stables that were built by the Butler family.
Dhruv Chawla — Google review
I've never thought a Southern hemisphere distillery can make whisky that able to share a conversation with the Scottish big names. But Lark has surprised me in a big way.
Well done
Freddie Wong — Google review
We did the tour. Found that the team member running it sort of stumbled through it, might need some more practise?
It’s a big property with some great history.
As for the whiskeys, very nice with a price tag to boot. But they are certainly nice!

Whiskeys are amazing though tour was very short. Ended up buying 2 bottles but then found out they are cheaper by $20 each at Dan Murphy's. Paid for your and tasting in the cellar door (amazing spot) but paid more for whiskey I could've bought at Dan's. Weird.

I would recommend dropping in for the tour which is personal and provides insights into the whisky making. The crew are friendly and knowledgeable and the whisky’s are very nice. We bought a few bottles and then hit the road.

I love a Gin Distillery tour and this is by far one of my favourites.
The staff are just the best and take such good care of you.
The landscape is beyond special and can't help but get lost in it.
The gin tasting is a must with the fire place to your back and looking out through the gorgeous sandstone arched door.
Thank you for an amazing time and I will definitely be back.

This was a highlight of our Tassie trip. As a whisky lover it was a must to visit and it was well worth the drive. The staff were incredibly friendly and very knowledgeable. They also do a great cheese board to go with your whisky tasting. They do sell all the whiskies onsite aswell however they are the exact same price as the online store.

My wife and I popped through on our Honeymoon as we were driving past from Bothwell and happened to see the distillery by chance. We Cannot recommend enough! Tom and Eason who were looking after the Cellar door were very pleasant! Their passion and knowledge for the history and precise notes on the tastings were on point. Along with their own recommendations and thier super friendly, easy going hospitality was fantastic! my wife is an architect and the buildings have beautifully considered interiors. It was such a treat to have stumbled across this place. Please stop by and enjoy everything!

Last weekend, my wife and I with some friends came to Lark Distillery Pontville.
Lucky for us, we got Nikki taking us on a tour
Nikki's ability to tailor her tour for everyone who is there is incredible. Also, her knowledge is not only of Lark but also of the building and history at Pontville. Also, she helps you understand how whiskey is made and how to talk about whiskey and tasting it.
So yourself a favour and head out there.. worth the drive.
Wonderful! My partner bought this experience for me, as a birthday gift.
Our tour guides were amazing! Very professional, fun and informative. We got to tour ward C and played with paranormal equipment which was so cool!
I'm keen to check out the history and ghost tours now!
I also saw my name (Jo) on the ceiling, in the cell I chose to investigate. So cool!
Thanks for the incredible experience, will be back again! Xx

The tour with Jenna was very informative indeed and the interesting stories which she told so well brought the historical operations of the former asylum back to life for me. l never expected to actually enter one of the older buildings to see where patients resided and the courageous psychiatric nursing staff worked under such challenging conditions. This tour is a must for anyone who has an interest in the delivery of mental health services in New Norfolk which is only a quick 35 minute drive from Hobart.

Fantastic tour. Pity the New Norfolk Council can't invest some money into preserving this site. Sad to see such disrepair to historic buildings. Will highly recommend doing the tour. Our knowledgeable guide, Shakira was very informative, friendly and answered all our random questions.

The tour guide was great. She was knowledgeable and looked out for the groups safety and wellbeing on the site. We just did a standard night tour and didn’t have any spooks unfortunately. It was still an interesting experience. Only 4 because the spooks didn’t turn up haha

Recently went on this tour I herd so much about! WOW! I got what I was told 😱 Paranormal activity, excitement, shocked and a fair few laughs and scares. Sharmaine was a BEAUTIFUL tour guide and we had a great experience. Can't wait to see all the other wards as I'll be going back for another experience. 🤗🤗👻👻

Beautiful building with lots of history. I don’t normally comment negatively although The tour in itself was pretty tacky, no chance to explore rooms to get a vibe or even able to listen out for noises due to the guides non stop story telling. I get the concept but touristy things clearly aren’t for me.

We took our two teenage daughters on the male ward ghost tour - the staff were super accommodating and we were able to make arrangements for A Night they don’t regularly run Tours. the tour (led by Jenna) was fascinating, terrifying, and so extremely cool. I’m a writer, and I love the way the history of the place was embedded within stories of the archaeological/ anthropological research that’s been done about the asylum, and the artifacts/stories from early inhabitants. 100% recommend!

Just wanted to say how much we enjoyed our 11:30 tour with Jenna. what a fabulous young lady who shared and presented the history with such respect, compassion and care. We were a group of 4 and really enjoyed our time there. Thank you.

Well worth the experience.....I have previously done both the Beechworth and Ararat asylum ghost tours.....and neither compare to the quality and sheer feeling of anticipation that I experienced on the Ward C night tour. Our guide was exceptional.....her own experiences as a guide only lent to the anticaption of meeting a presence arounding the next dark corridor. Her stories had heart felt empathy for the prior civil patients and convict inmates sent here for treatment.....when you visit New Norfolk....don't hesitate to add the Willow Court night tour to your agenda.....you won't be dissappointed.

Was fortunate enough to do this tour today with Jenna who is so knowledgeable and very respectful of the way that she described things. My son and I thoroughly enjoyed it as it was so interesting. Do yourself a favour and take this tour and I can guarantee you that you will not be disappointed.

Tour guide was wonderful, great value for money. Absolutely recommend. I was disappointed with my group however, as they made jokes and laughed the whole time, talking during the paranormal investigations and over the recordings. I had hoped people attending would take it seriously and not try to ruin the experience for other paying customers. Maybe a statement could be added when checking out about being respectful of others own experiences during their paranormal investigative journey.

AMAZING tour! Filled with lots of historical knowledge. There are buildings that you can enter and cant due to deterioration. Well worth the trip. Hope that they can get funding to fix this magnificent piece of history up to its former glory. Beautiful.
Book ahead- they don't have turn up times available. They're super accommodating though! If you call and can't make their Saturday tours they will run them during the week!

The Agrarian Kitchen Cooking School is soo worth the price and travel. I've done two classes now with Rodney, Sev and the team and am eager to do more. I did the Agrarian Experience which was a full day session and gave me so many new techniques and tips in cooking.
Rod was very patient with us while we asked many questions and asked him to repeat things. We got to tour the beautifully kept garden and pick all of our ingredients for the days cooking ahead.
You get to keep the recipes of what you cook that day and then get to enjoy your lunch that you've just made.
I would highly recommend this to anyone - it also makes a great gift!!

Thank you Rodney and Severine Dunn for being the most beautiful hosts.
I had a wonderful experience.
Being a Sydney sider myself, I admire intensely the encounter with people that follow their dream, listen to their hearts, and create something amazing.
What makes this experience unique?
Rodney initiated the whole “ farm bug“ , ( the need to move from the big cities and live in a farm )where all chefs from the main land have followed. It is the first and only authentic cooking school farm introducing you to the real deal, putting the standards super high for others to follow.
Fly to Hobart, and do not hesitate to enter the world of the Agrarian Experience.

We had a group of 34 for a birthday celebration, Rodney, Laura and the team looked after us perfectly. Food was outstanding, matching wines were excellent, all in all a totally wonderful experience. Highly recommended.
A truly excellent experience of whisky and service! We had a fantastic time at the cafe, the tour was really detailed thanks to their bottling team and Hannah, and the cask lounge experience was delightful. I had the chance to try so much of the whiskies there and they were all really wonderful.
My favourite currently is the Sextet, the Solera cask, and the Sherry Cask. Their gins are also superb, as are the Lavender and Apple liquors.
What a fantastic way to start 2022!

A Whiskey flight tasting was the standard $30 which seems to be the average for 4 x 15ml tastings. You get to choose from 8 on offer. A great selection of single malt whiskeys from this region. The food also on offer was reasonably priced and delicious. Also offered other tastings of gin and liqueurs if Whiskey is not your thing. Staff all very friendly.

Nice place to taste a surprising selection of Tasmanian whiskeys. Nice location with information on whiskey making, decent food with the whiskey and a friendly team. We really enjoyed our time and also took some whiskey home. It is a bit on the expensive side, but certainly something very special to bring back from Tasmania.
Peter and his small team operate one of my favourite distilleries in all of Tasmania, and given the sheer number and quality of them that's saying something. Peter is a prolific experimenter, developing new tastes and experiences at every turn - and all of them delicious. If you're in the area don't miss the opportunity to pop in and meet Peter personally. He'll take you on a super tour of his distillery and you'll come out the other end armed with far more knowledge about the process of making top-flight whisky than you went in with. His whisky is distinctive, and once you have a taste for it you'll be using it as a benchmark to judge others by. Brilliant fun and a great experience.

We visited for a tour yesterday and had the greatest time. Loads of whisky to try, Maan was very generous with his time and knowledge. We've never laughed so hard at a distillery tour before. This was a 10/10 visit, we walked away with boots full of delicious whisky. I consider this a must-visit for Australian whisky enthusiasts - one of the few distilleries that is truly passionate about the art of whisky.

We had an awesome trip down to Tasmania, was lucky enough to visit Peter Bignell and the Belgrove Distillery Peter is a champion of a bloke. Love how innovative he is, he has a wealth of knowledge and combines it with skill to produce some great whiskies. Was awesome to tour the distillery and see each part of the process, including the fields where the grain is produced and harvested. Enjoyed a great tasting at the end of the tour and looking forward to what Belgrove will produce in the future. We highly recommend a visit to Belgrove if visiting Tassie.

Great to finally meet you Peter! Thank you so much for taking some time out of your busy busy day to show us around your magic lab and the distillery. Every whisky lover needs to come meet Peter and his beautiful Rye! Whisky, Brandy, Liqueurs and “special” concoctions, Peter produces them all. The worlds only bio-diesel fuelled distillery with hand made stills, recycled commercial clothes dryer malt tumbler and own paddock grown rye. A true paddock to bottle experience. Peter is a nice bloke, knowledgeable, personable, a genius, but very busy. So please call ahead before popping in for a tasting and tour. You will not regret it!

You can't go to Tassie for Whisky and not go to Belgrove. The experience we had here was unlike any other, and their whiskies are incomparable. Peter & Mann were happy to accommodate us on short notice and what we thought was going to be a quick tasting turned into a 3 hour long visit filled with good laughs and a lot of learning, leaving us with a lot more knowledge than when we got here.

The contrast of the rustic setting and the prestigious high-quality whiskey is only further juxtaposed by the context of components that go into making the final product. Peat, barley and smoked sheep poo among some.

Hands down the best whiskey distillery experience we've ever had! Even though he had his hands full with several things on the boil, literally, Peter was very welcoming and took his time showing us around his amazing, pretty much completely hand-made distillery where every batch of whiskey is truly unique - think the total opposite of any of the big, well-known distilleries!
What a great experience - we're still smiling every time we think about it, and every time we look at the bottles we purchased too! Thank you so much Peter!

We rang ahead. Lucky we did. Peter came out and gave us a tour. And I felt privileged. There is nothing like having a farmer come out and telling you passionately about what he does. And pointing out each machine/device/step of making whisky. This was amazing. Peter is also an artist who does ice sculpting and sand art. Dude is impressive. And eco conscious and makes alot of cool alcohols.

Quiet, relaxed setting with a fishing museum & cafe, plus a pond & garden area for picnics & walks.
If you love delicious pancakes this is the place for you. If you love all things trout and salmon than you’ll love this place. The restaurant has a great view of the gardens and the ponds as you share a meal and some tasty drinks.
2 dollars will get you a bucket of fish pellets that you can go around the ponds feeding the amazing fish.

Visited this place on our trip to Tasmania. It is 45 minutes drive from Hobart City. There is an entry fee and is reasonable. You can buy family ticket. You can feed the fish with using $2 food from a wending machine. The farm is beautifully maintained and you can feed the fish. There are several ponds and variety of fish. You can also visit museum of of Trout Fishing. The area is well kept. There are plenty of parking. Unfortunately you cannot catch the fish. There is a cafe in the premises. Worth visiting this place.

Nice spot to visit and see some of Tasmanian history, The food was nice but the staff were very scruffy and one kid even had rips in his trackpants and we could see his underwear! Plus they were on their phones! But the upside is we got to see a platypus to the delight of family visiting from Canada.

Feb 2022. I used to love visiting the Salmon Ponds as a child and teen. The venue would always be well presented and well maintained. Sadly it seems to have been let go and forgotten about. The ponds are clogged with algae and water weed, the ponds are lightly stocked and the fish are so stressed that they rarely eat the food and are breathing super heavy. Although they have a traffic light sign above the food dispenser, this doesn't stop you from purchasing more food to clog up the ponds. It's almost as if they're in dire need for cash that they let this happen to increase cashflow.
That said, $8 entry per person is reasonable, but the restaurant/cafe is super overpriced, for the small servings offered. The ponds themselves are in a state of dilapidation, and nothing like they were 20 years ago. The hatchery smalls horribly of stale water. The hatchery has a handful of token fry, on different stages, again, nothing like they once had years ago. I really want to see the Salmon Ponds thrive, but it needs love and attention, something it isn't provided at present.

Fantastic to go to! We don’t eat fish but loved feeding them in the pond and museum was interesting too. Saw some eels as well as trout and there were more but I have a lack of knowledge about fish. Worth a stop. Although I had some nice crepes there I was a bit disappointed as it says pancakes by the pond and I was expecting pancakes not crepes. I think they need to change it to “Crepes by the pond”

Well maintained property. This is a hatchery with many exotic trees and a few ponds showcasing different types of trout, as well as one type of salmon. Visitors also get access to barbecue facilities. Good place for a family to spend the day. Kids would also be able to feed the fish for $2. Admission for adult is $8 and you get free entrance to the museum.

Worthwhile stop near New Norfolk in Hobart's Derwent Valley. This heritage listed venue is historic as it is peaceful. Enjoyable time for kids enabling them to feed the (mostly) hungry fish as well as seeing the resident platypus in action, if you are there on a lucky day! Plenty of options for a restful picnic lunch within the grounds under one or more of the beautiful heritage trees around the ponds.

Great stop for some history, nice photos, coffee and food just 10km from New Norfolk town centre the entry to the place of a place lined up with trees on both sides gives you a feel of a place you want to capture . There is a large variety of trees and reflections in the pond are just amazing. Best of all the salmon, rainbow trouts and other fish in the pond who you can feed and observe closely when they come up, so many of them. There is ample parking, toilets. Entry fee is $8 for adults and $4-5 for kids as of April 2023 . Have been there twice and will return on our next trip to Tassie

So glad we stopped to visit! Loved seeing the fish ponds, and we were lucky enough to see a platypus which lives in the creek over the back but burrows it’s way in for a free feed! The Australasian Golf Museum, located in Bothwell village, tells the story of how golf evolved from a crude game played by a handful of villages on Scotland's east coast, to now being a truly international game, and Australia's most popular participation sport.
The museum illustrates why the early settlers in historic Bothwell became Australia's first golfing community, with the nearby Ratho Golf Links recognised as Australia's oldest golf course, and the township having as many as 5 different golf courses.
The evolution of the game is explained through the different eras, as defined by the changing golf ball; from Feathery (1400s to mid 1800s) to Gutta-percha (1850s to 1900) to Haskell (turn of the century to World War II) and the modern balls.
Many of Tasmania's champion golfers are featured, from Australia's first born champions, the Pearce Brothers, to Lucy Arthur, Len Nettlefold, Elvie Whitesides, the Toogoods and the Goggins.
Suvendu Das — Google review
My friend and I pictured below found this museum equally dull as it fails to tell the true story of golf, the one in which a golf ball grew from the ground and have life to golfers and told them the secrets to getting rich, without this rich history this museum has tarnished it reputation and is a place i would not like to visit again.
Absolutely gorgeous place with some amazing history to be explored. Feels like we found a hidden gem right in the middle of Tassie.
Got to stay in this cute historical cottage but full of the best amenities around.
We decided to try the food here which happened to be the best decision all day as we got to try the wedding venue style of food and services - definitely the top star experience!
Got to sit in with some amazing travellers, and it really felt like a warm cozy gathering during holiday season.

We had a nice stay over the Christmas break at the farm. Really liked the landscape, the walks to take the dog out and the the historical ambience. The rooms were spacious, with direct access to the outside parking area and some outside pick-nick tables as well. However, we were not prepared to have the service being ramped down over Christmas, so that we needed to source our Christmas dinner from a petrol station restaurant near by. But overall still a lovely time!

Has the potential to be better. There were rodents in the ceiling of our otherwise nice room but this would be very difficult to control with all these old buildings and fields.. The homestead has a lovely historic atmosphere and outlook. The staff were very good with exception of the tall guy, Michael?, who wanted to argue the point a few times. The meals we had were disappointing in that the 'roast dinner' was a smallish, very stripped back affair served with a taster size dessert. The BBQ was OK but the meat patties were very overcooked, snags and salads ok. Given they were cooking for a very large group it would have been tricky but they should be able to handle it. Neither were good value. Good wine selection and trays of nibbles were very good. Others said they enjoyed the breakfast.

Stunning location and above and beyond hospitality from the staff. We stayed for an evening and really wished to have stayed for another. Having very little amenities nearby you would definitely want to reserve a dinner booking with your accommodation as well as breakfast. We were fed lovely, generous portions of homestead style dinner and dessert. As well as being a gorgeous property, the staff were phenomenal at ensuring that each guest was welcomed and looked after. The roaming chickens and the resident highland cows Betsy and Barbara were a bonus to see! It was very enjoyable learning about the history of the property through some great reading and storytelling after dinner and we sincerely hope to return again one day!

Although we didn't stay here we wish we had. After the mice ate all our food in our nearby bnb we randomly ended up here after seeing a sign saying eat. I got married at Ratho and oh my goodness. From start to finish my experience was just magical. I was the bride emailing every week and asking questions never did I feel like I was a pest. The requests I had was always met with such love and kindness.
Venue- blank canvas you really could do what you want. The atrium was like a permanent marquee you got the view of the farm with the beautiful tree, festoon lights in the foreground. We got married under a beautiful giant oak tree. It was so whimsical
People- the staff were accommodating, fun and relaxed. Honestly it felt like family, our venue coordinator helped me with so many things outside of her role she came to see me the day before the wedding on the day off to just say hi and check on me 🩷 special thanks to Mick , looking after us on the night and day after our guests loved you and we did too!! You are so much fun and so kind.
Accommodation- We got so many compliments from our family who stayed saying it was amazing staying onsite, and the rooms was so beautiful and it felt like we were all in a little village. The rooms had everything you needed and were boutique and convict style blended
Special thanks to Marelle, such a beautiful wedding venue coordinator who made our day so special and the process so simple and easy from the beginning. I will forever be grateful for you Marelle it wouldn't have been the day it was without you 🩷

What a fun, beautiful, interesting place this is. We came for the golf (you have to come play Australias oldest course, if you have any interest in golf whatsoever) but were charmed by history and the beauty of this place. We had a wonderful time with so many laughs out on the links and in the evening came together with the rest of the guest and the host, Michael, had dinner and chatted about our travels. Michaels readings of historic letter from the founders what so entertaining!

I'm going to be honest, I had heard of Ratho Farm long ago, and I always thought it was always about the golf.
I am happy to admit I was very, very wrong.
Our comfortable stay in a well thought out room was made even more pleasant by the laid-back country atmosphere. The 'make this place your home' welcome from the staff.
Every quarter of the is to be explored, from the grand homestead to the Rustic farm equipment scattered throughout the property.
Thank you to the staff for making our stay memorable.
Oh, and there is golf if anyone is interested.

Nestled in the centre of Tasmania, @rathofarm is the place where you come for the accommodation but stay for the rich history and tight community.

Absolutely fantastic distillery with a great restaurant attached to the cellar door all situated on stunning grounds. We stopped by for a late lunch at about 2pm and the staff at the bar were very welcoming and let us eat first and waited until done before seeing if we wanted a tour and to taste the whisky. We did. The whisky was great, do the whole tasting flight then go on a tour of the historic grounds that still operate the distillery.

Great tour and tasting, talked to the distillers! Under new ownership, they are expanding and fixing up the site. No lunch option and the moment only coffee and cake other than the whisky. Not much else around the area other than nant. But enjoyed my visit!

Location is beautiful. Staff friendly and helpful. Whisky is superb, cask strength port barrel is my personal favourite. Tours are worthwhile, as they show you through the mill, and then go through the whole whisky making process, which you you an appreciation for the prices of good whisky.

Definitely worth a visit for beginners or experts of whisky. Beautiful sandstone distillery with a working flour mill. Great tour of the building and they show you how the flour mill works during the tour too. Exceptional whisky for tasting and make sure you look out for the platypuses in the pond.

My first visit in 4 years and under new owners. It is such a beautiful and picture perfect Tasmanian distillery. Staff were very friendly and the whiskey is superb. Visitors need to support these ventures that are not on the main roads. Well worth a visit.

The tour and tasting here is a fantastic experience. The property is beautiful and the distillery is a historic masterpiece. Bonnie was our guide and she is a wealth of knowledge and obviously passionate about Tassie whiskeys. If you like good whiskey and want to go see how it's made, make a trip to the Nant!

Yes it is opened again! 7 days a week after it was bought by the new owners in Feb.
Kim and Dean both took us through a tasting and we loved Kim's chocolate mudcake infused with port cask nant whisky.
The tasting was delicious and we bought some port cask whisky.
Staff were fantastic.
Grounds are fantastic.
Whisky is fantastic.
Heading back to do a full tour tomorrow with more time.

Excellent tour, amazing staff and beautiful setting. Well worth the visit. Plans to have the kitchen fully running soon, but still doing tea, coffee, cake, cheese and ploughman's platters, so good for a morning tea or light lunch. Whisky tasting excellent of course!!!
Discovered this place by chance. A lovely spot where there is a set up trail for bush tucker and learning about some of the fauna and flora of Tasmania. The bonus is that it situated on a river where a platypus and at the moment her baby preside. You aren't certain to see the platypus as it is a wild one but there is a good chance to! Good luck!
Richard Slee — Google review
This was really cool. Kids thought so too. Get a tucker box of things to eat and you eat them at specified points on the way. Kids get a quiz to fill in along the way for an extra treat which keeps them engaged. Good chance to see platypus! We even saw a snake. Guy at the counter is super friendly and informative.

Forest secrets is a great way to spend an hour or so with the kids. You could possibly stretch to 2 hours but certainly no more. We were lucky enough to get a glimpse of a wild platypus which resides in the river there.

Russell Falls, located in Mt. Field National Park, Tasmania, is an easily accessible and awe-inspiring two-tiered waterfall. The falls can be reached through a short 400m track and visitors can also walk to Horseshoe Falls which is another 10 minutes away. The place offers picturesque views and some super scenic lookouts that are mostly wheelchair accessible with the top bit being slightly demanding but still manageable.
Short 10 min walk to Russell Falls from the cafe. We then also walked to Horseshoe Falls which was another 10 mins. You won’t be disappointed, as they are both beautiful water falls. You’ll take plenty of photos along the way. Very picturesque!!
John Jocys — Google review
This place is 1 hour drive from Hobart City. There is an entry fee of $40 to visit this park. It is not worth paying this, just for entering this place. But you can use this pass to visit other national parks in Tasmania. There is car park available and need to display the entry ticket under your windscreen. The water fall is 10 minutes walk from the visitor centre. You walk through dense forest and it is a great experience. Lot of big trees, Fern trees, Wild mushrooms, Streams, etc. The path is well maintained and not really steep. The water fall is not that great, if you are just visiting the fall. But there is a trail for walking and you can walk if you enjoy walking in the forest.
Anto Mathew — Google review
So worth it. It’s such a short walk to a beautiful waterfall. It’s so close you can feel it! I carried my 2 months old and was fine - definitely worth it. Make sure you buy the National park fee $44 ish for a vehicle and we went to a few parks within 24hrs and so it was worth every penny!! There’s a visitor centre there so you can buy tickets there.

Worth visiting. These falls are just spectacular. A short walk from the back of the visitor Centre, you can the walk on for various other locations for turn back around. The short walk in a well paced & easily accessible as well as beautiful. Large tall ferns surround the path that winds along the waterfall run offs.

This is an amazing place with some super scenic lookouts.
The walk is not too demanding, except for the top bit, but still manageable.
By most part wheelchairs accessible.
Adil Sheikh — Google review
A fantastic short easy walk part excellent gravel track and part boardwalk. However along the way some spectacular trees, rainforest and then at the end one of the best falls I've seen. The track to connect the walk to the horseshoe Falls was closed in August 2022 due to a fallen tree.

I had a wonderful experience visiting this place in Hobart. It's a must-visit destination if you're in the area.
The walk through the woods was incredibly refreshing, and I thoroughly enjoyed taking in the breathtaking beauty of the waterfalls. It was truly a lovely and memorable time.

A lovely waterfalls, with an easy, clear pathways to the falls. Lots of mushrooms and beautiful scenery along the path. We had injured knees and managed the path fairly easily. Would definitely recommend a visit.

Just amazing! A very easy walk to Russell Falls from the visitor centre, 25mins return. Highly recommend visiting after it’s been raining for a few days to see it really in action. At night you can even go and see the glow worms, it was very exciting but take a torch with you for the way back as it’s pitch black!
Very pleasant and enjoyable experience. Can’t wait to visit again one day.
Jessica J — Google review
One of my favourite waterfalls in Tasmania. The walk to the falls is easy and pleasant. We continued on further from there but if you only want to see the falls it’s about a 25 minute round trip. We had lunch at the cafe first before commencing our hike. Easy to read signs are posted for clear directions. Ample parking available. Toilet facilities are clean. So many fascinating trees to see along the way.

The Russell Falls, a tiered–cascade waterfall on the Russell Falls Creek, is located in the Central Highlands region of Tasmania, Australia.
The Russell Falls are situated on the eastern boundary of Mount Field National Park, 100 metres (330 ft) downstream of the Horseshoe Falls, approximately 70 kilometres (43 mi) northwest of Hobart via the Brooker and Lyell highways. Accessible by a paved walking track, the falls are a popular tourist attraction. The waterfall descends over horizontal marine Permian siltstone benches, while the vertical faces of the falls are composed of resistant sandstone layers.

Absolutely breathtaking. The walk in was beautiful, there is a glow worm grotto along the walk in which would be amazing at night. I will be back to go up to horseshoe falls. You do need a parks pass to go here but easily purchased online before hand or at the Mt field visitor centre upon arrival.
Deb Fordham — Google review
Absolutely beautiful waterfall, and wonderful rainforest walk trail! We went for a day walk and in the evening after sunset saw the glow worms in the "Glow worm grotto". A must do day trip if you're staying in Hobart.

Very easy short walk - start from the Mount Field National Park. Only 20-25 minutes return. Good for the elderly and children. You'll need a National Park pass to enter. You can continue the walk from here and do a loop if you like, the whole walk is pretty good and easy. Walks can get muddy so wear good shoes!
Elsa X (Elsaxx) — Google review
It is a great walk with a beautiful view of the falls. Keep an eye out for the platypus. The terrain is pretty easy, but I recommend good walking shoes. There is a good cafe at the visitor centre.

Deviating 30 km from our original plan to explore Russell Falls was the best decision. This natural wonder provides a captivating experience, with picturesque displays of nature's beauty surrounded by lush greenery. The soothing sound of cascading water enhances the tranquility of the surroundings. Russell Falls is a must-visit destination for those seeking a peaceful escape into nature.
Christophe Demouche — Google review
We took a tour of 7 people and walked the 6km loop. Be ready for some stairs along the walk, but the falls are worth it. Very pretty and serene.
Rita Lewitt — Google review
A beautiful location, situated in a tall tree rain forest. It's just a short 15 min walk from the visitor centre. If you walk another 5 min you'll find yourself at the Horseshoe Falls further upstream. You'll need a National Park permit to enter the site.
Jason Kan — Google review
Great easy walk to get to the falls. Concrete path and steps.
One way to the falls then to the tall trees.
Not a round trip unless you go to the next falls. Not a hard walk unless you are not mildly fit. Lots of spots to sit and rest and enjoyed amazing forest
Scott Goodman — Google review
Russell falls is great family walk with 25 mins return. You can enjoy the tall trees and why is Tasmania so special. From Russell falls if you want you can walk to horseshoe falls for another 15 mins. But still will be steep stairs which is well maintained. But I like the Russell falls better than horseshoe one. Kids friendly and seniors friendly. Must do if you visit mount field national park.

Definitely my favourite waterfall in Tasmania. The scenery around the waterfall is absolutely mind-blowing and beautiful. The walk here also presents some interesting and unique vegetation. If you are visiting Tasmania, definitely stop by and I promise you that you will not regret it. I have attached to this post a photo of the waterfall and a photo of the vegetation that you can find while on the walk.
Horseshoe Falls is a picturesque waterfall situated upstream from the renowned Russell Falls. It features a multi-layered cascade nestled among rocks, ferns and lush forest. To reach this secluded location, it only takes an additional 10-minute walk past Russell Falls, and visitors can easily turn it into a loop by taking on the Tall Trees Walk. This stunning waterfall is one of the must-visit spots in Mt Field National Park, offering visitors an awe-inspiring natural wonder to admire and enjoy.
Beautiful water fall. This track has three major waterfall and it is stunning. Horseshoe Falls is situated in the Mt. Field National Park, and is a short 10 minute walk from the impressive Russell Falls, and about a 50 minute walk from Lady Barron Falls. The walking track is well maintained, meandering through some of Tasmania's best rainforests. The track has information / education signs along the way highlighting fauna and flora which is distinctly unique to the region.
From Horseshoe Falls, it is approximately a 1 hour hike to Lady Barron Falls, along the Tall Trees circuit. This walk showcases the tall trees in the area, with information regarding the ecology of the region.
I loved every minute of it. Make sure you have paid for a vehicle National park pass.

Just 5 to 10 min upstream from Russell Falls. It's a beautiful site with crystal clear water and cool shade from the tall trees 70 to 80m tall.
You'll need a National Park permit to enter the park.

Up a few stairs from Russell Falls, this is another waterfall worth visiting - especially after some rain. The surrounding landscape is beautiful.

If you're already at Russel's falls, the horseshoe Falls is only about 15 minutes away - there are some stairs involved. It's quite a pleasant as easy walk though. The waterfall itself is quite small but it's shaped like a horseshoe so it's quite interesting. This is part of the Mount Field National Park so you'll need a National park pass to enter.

Just beautiful, obviously stop at Russell Falls first. A few steps to get to this 1 but my 5 year old son did it no problem. We visited in July and there was a fantastic flow of water. Do yourself a favour and take the family

This beautiful waterfall is located in Mount Field National Park. There is a short walk from the visitor's to get there. The walk up to the Russell Falls is flat. But after that there are well maintained steep steps to climb. Shape of the waterfall is like a horseshoe. That may be the reason behind the name.
Dinusha Wijesekara — Google review
Great addition when seeing Russell falls. Easy walk. Worthwhile the extra time to see 2 waterfalls at the same time.

Just 15 minutes walk from Russel Falls, you will reach the Horseshoe Falls. It's worth to exercise more & experience it.
Pong Natthwut — Google review
Another smaller falls with more exercise.
Russell Falls is the more impressive of the two, so if you are pressed for time or intimidated by the stairs, it's ok to skip Horseshoe.

Would highly recommend this attraction

Very enjoyable afternoon on ride 4 (16km towards Maydena from Mount Field location). Easy to organise through sending a text message to Jeff. Rail cart had a third seat just behind us in the middle to put our 2 year old in securely (very large lap seat belt!). Can pedal or be pushed as much as you want. Nice scenery, will be back.

This was something different and not a typical experience. Being immersed right in the beautiful greens of nature and the option of the walk in the gardens at the halfway point. Don't be scared of your lack of fitness, the guide can help push you along, he was friendly :)

We did the Maydena to Florentine trip today and had such a great experience. We had a 4 seater with our kids aged 4 & 7. Our guide Trevor gave us a great history lesson on the area which I found really interesting. Kids weren't as interested in that part so much but Trevor did a great job in including them and getting them to help him out with some demonstrations which they got a kick out of. Definitely recommend to all ages 😊

What a fun and unique experience! Our party of 6 had 2 carts. Adults pedal in the front seats, and children in the back get a free ride. Made the quads burn on a couple of slight inclines, but don't worry, there is a quad bike to help you along if you struggle. But for those who WANT to pedal... make sure you're more towards the front. If you get stuck behind people who don't want to pedal or can't, you have no choice but to be pushed. Don't worry! At the mid way mark, when the carts get turned around, they can be rearranged. Slower people at the back!!
We had so much fun, and Trevor and Steve were fantastic guides. Even the rain didn't dampen our spirits!! Thank you for a fantastic experience.
Amy Greenwood — Google review
Cute wholesome fun. Nature and history and a gentle workout (but you can be pushed along if you're unable to pedal). Staff are charmers, and quick to respond with inquiries too. Recommend for everyone.

We had an absolutely fantastic time with Railtrack Riders! The experience was unlike anything I've ever done before. Riding along the old railway tracks on a railbike was not only thrilling but also incredibly scenic.
What truly set this experience apart was the informative guide, Trevor (and pre ride with Steve). They were knowledgeable about the history of the area and the railway, providing fascinating insights throughout the journey. Learning about the local heritage added a whole new dimension to the adventure.
I highly recommend Railtrack Riders to anyone looking for a unique and educational outdoor activity. It's a great way to explore the beautiful countryside while being guided by someone who genuinely cares about the history and environment. I can't wait to do it again!

What a fantastic set up. Not very far from the city, but when you are there you can emerse your self in the lifestyle of a real working sheep property. Great accommodation with the sextagonal cabins, all you could want for a farm stay .
Probably the two most important items a great shower and comfortable bed. We had both.

I recently visited Curringa Farm for the second time and stayed for two nights. It was a wonderful experience. The environment was peaceful, and I was able to connect with nature in a way that I rarely get to in my daily life. The staff were friendly and helpful, and they recommended that I visit Mount Field National Park, which was absolutely breathtaking.
One of the highlights of my stay was the food package. The milk was incredibly fresh and delicious, and I loved the steak. Overall, I had a fantastic time at Curringa Farm and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing and rejuvenating getaway.
Thank you to the staff at Curringa Farm for making my stay such a memorable one!

We came off a night of rough seas on the Tazzie ferry. This was a fairly remote farm which was fine for us. The actual establishment is a series of well appointed octagonal cabins. One very large room and a bath. Comfortable. Lovely appointments in furnishings and bath. There is a way to block out the daylight which is nice. We cooked our breakfast and could have grilled dinner, if we were inclined. The actual roads with in the property are very confusing and in need of proper signage. Not sure why this isn’t handled by owners. Sheep were around and some other creatures came and visited in the night.

We stumbled across Curringa Farm while planning our road trip around Tassie. Situated just 70km from Hobart, the farm is massive and had lots of different animals roaming freely.
The room was just perfect - large floor-to-ceiling windows giving you amazing views, lots of amenities provided in the room (just bring your own food to cook) and the bed was so comfy. Would have booked an additional night if we had known how awesome the place was. Cannot recommend this place enough!
Thank you to Jane, Nino, Tim and Pippa for making us feel so welcome and arranging a private sheep shearing session for us. The scones, jam and coffee we had after was lovely. Billy and Locky were just the sweetest dogs and we miss them already. Thank you again, we will definitely be back!

The farm is huge with lots of animals.
Saw the Shepard cutting the wool from the lamb and the shepherd dog chasing the lamb, what a special experience.
The lunch is grilled lamb or steak with salad and potatoes, the meat is really tasty and juicy. And their products like hand cream is very smooth and rich.
Overall we had a great time.

What a delightful stay on our way across the island! Beautiful and serene, looking down over the river and out over the hills, with wildlife and sheep roaming about. Make sure you have a vehicle that can stand a lengthy dirt driveway! Comfortable and clean accommodation, and great service - a hiccup with our booking was quickly and thoughtfully resolved. Would definitely recommend if you're heading across and don't want to do the hours of driving in one shot!

One of the best stays that we ever had! Booked the seagle room and the view is amazing. After you get your keys from the reception, we drove about 5-10 minutes to get to our accommodation. There is a bathtub in the room, although the spa wasn’t working we did have a good bath! Saw some sheep outside our window too. There’s some cereal in the room and a bottle of milk. There’re some pasta and rice too. Bring your own food to cook or you can request for some food to be prepared for you so it will be ready for you upon arrival. Five star view, very comfortable and very clean! Will definitely be back.

The walking trail is beautiful but unmaintained so there a a few fallen logs you have to climb over and under. About a 40 - 50 minute round trip, mostly flat with a gradual decline for the last cpl hundred metres.
The viewing platform needs a little love but the view of the valley and l falls is beautiful.
Kalissa Willis — Google review
The falls are beautiful but the walk is a bit rough. At a casual pace it's over an hour rounds trip and the last 1/5 of the walk is pretty steep with most of the steps damaged or non-existent.
Aaron Hainey — Google review
It's a good half hour walk to view the waterfall. Parts of the path is well cleared and easy walking. In a few parts, you have to climb over fallen tree trunks or under them to make your way to the wasteful but it is certainly worth it. Water was released whilst we were there, hence the different photo shots. Well worth it.

A beautiful and easy walk to do. Such a great little track , and a beautiful waterfall at the end.
I even saw an Echidna along the walk. For all ages this walk.
If your a big tree fan, this is a great walk to see some great trees.

I don't think this waterfalls are worth seeing. We stopped there because we had been driving for a long time and we needed to take a break. The track to the waterfall takes around 15 minutes. It is a nice walk because you cross the forest but at the end there is this horrible platform (see picture) you can see the fall from. You can't get any closer to the water and you can't swim. We went there after a day of rain and still there was not much water.
Lilo — Google review
These falls are worth the short drive in off the main road. Park over the small bridge in the gravel carpark to the right of the hydro station. The walk is not signposted but easy to find the start in the middle of the carpark. As others have said, it's a short 20 minute walk each way, but in desperate need of a clean up of many fallen trees. The waterfall itself is lovely and deserves better attention and signposting.

Nice walk and decent waterfall. Would be better after some rain. Access is next to Tarraleah lookout, Google maps driving directions are currently incorrect. Road to lookout and walk entrance says private access to accommodation and cafe. We just drove up to lookout first and weren't hassled at all. Bought something at cafe to use the toilet, asked reception about the walk who advised how to access (see photos in reverse order) and to go under the wooden walkway rather than over it.

Good length walk to the falls and return, hilly for some it, slight up and downs for the flatish part. We had it all to ourselves - the whole walk and the viewing of the falls. Worth the walk.
We feel honoured to have had the opportunity to visit The Wall. It has been a true highlight of our holiday in Tasmania and was quite moving. We took in all the detail of each panel and are absolutely entranced by the magnificent sculpting of Greg Duncan.
The gallery building in which The Wall is housed is magnificent in itself. As you are not allowed to take photos inside, we have bought the three books and look forward to reading these and viewing all the photos thoroughly.
The snow on the gallery building was an added bonus.
Thank you Greg Duncan.

Visiting the Wall in the Wilderness will give you an appreciation of the dedication to the area, not only of the artist who has spent many years on this artwork, but also to the people of the area who are depicted on the wall. I won’t say you should but if you are near the Highlands or travelling to Strahan, visit once to pay respect to the Artist and his Arts.
Note:- You can’t take the picture inside, so sorry.

The artwork on the Wall is truly amazing, reflecting immense dedication and hard work. The emotional impact is palpable, considering the many years invested in bringing this project to life.

AMAZING place!! You really have to see it to appreciate the work and detail which has gone into it. I loved how the story started, but the second side of the Wall is quite emotional and a story told in carvings in such detail.

Well worth the visit. It is just stunning the amount of detail in each carving. No photos allowed at all which just about killed me.
We didn't book but in busy times you'd need to. Could do with a basic cafe that has a few choices. Small sparse gift shop.

The Wall was recommended by a friend so as we were staying at Lake St Claire lodge we thought we would visit. IT WAS A “WOW”. Greg Duncan’s sculptures are magnificent. The detail makes the exhibit look life like. It is a wonderful exhibition showcasing the skills of this extremely talented Australian. A must visit!

This is my second visit to "The Wall". I would not visit Tasmania without including this attraction on my "to do" list. We were fortunate enough to be there at the half way mark & engrave our name on the "panel" to commemorate this milestone. It was great to see it up now as part of "The Wall".
Nowhere else have I seen/experienced anything quite like "The Wall". Huge talent but done with respect & feeling. Clearly reflecting emotion, love of history & environment. The story is clearly told & if you take it in, you will FEEL it.
Mary Bishop — Google review
The wood sculptures here are astounding. Greg achieves a truly lifelike feeling to his work. The lighting is just right, from a distance you'd think it was a rendering, but up close the detail is astounding. And the way he has left some works in different stages of completion gives you insight into his process.
Can highly recommend a visit.

What a truly beautiful experience enveloped in the scents of Huon pine and the exquisite artistic talents of Greg Duncan in the story & timber panels of The Wall. It’s well worth the long trip to Derwent Bridge. Sit in awe at his realism and beauty, enjoy a drink in front of the fire. Unfortunately the cafe was closed but food and drink is available nearby or in Miena.

Talent at its best. The whole family enjoyed walking around the gallery, each of us noticing something special that caught our eye. The attention to detail has to be seen to be believed.
Galley is right off the highway and takes about 30mins to enjoy. Bookings are essential.

Absolutely fascinating to see the results of talent. A masterpiece of story telling on timber. If you visit on a cold dress warm as it is an enormous building. Since you can't take photos, take time to reflect on the past lives of the pioneer people.

WOW, just WOW a must see exhibit if your in Tassie. This place is just mind boggling, the years and years of effort, I wish I could take a little piece home with me. You could easily spend hours here, enjoying the artistry and story behind it all. Make sure you pre- purchase tickets so you don’t miss out.

Great artist and amazing artwork to look at and have a read through. However, we were a family traveling with children. And the kind of looks we received by both staff and others at the exhibition as our 2 year old was talking was disgusting. I completely understand respecting others around us and being respectful of the artwork. But our kids did not touch the artwork, and how are you going to tell a 2 year old to be absolutely quiet. If the staff was going to give us all these looks that we shouldn’t be there, or he shouldn’t be in the exhibition. More than welcome to make the place non children free. Then it wouldn’t be a problem, we would have organised something else to cater to the family.
Don’t be allowing children into the exhibition, and then have the staff hovering and greasing us off as they speak. Staff absolutely ruined the experience for us.
Otherwise the artwork was impressive. Definitely something worth looking at.

This man has done an amazing amount of work with wood. And other material. Seen it twice now. Not allowed to take photos inside. Outside are made of metal

Michelangelo comes to mind when looking at the exquisite wood sculpting on The Wall because Greg Duncan captures the tendons and muscles of the people and animals in such a realistic way. A true craftsman and I understand why it’s a ‘must see’ for all travellers.

A must see! Absolutely amazing. If you are going anywhere near, do yourself a favour and see this fantastic work.
The staff are also amazing. We had some trouble with our car, and they couldn’t have done anymore for us. We were stranded until after closing time and into the night, waiting for a tow. The Manager Sarah, who lives near bye, arrived back with her family. They had brought a brazier with firewood and started a fire to give us a little atmosphere, along with a couple of piccolos of sparkling wine, bottles of water and packets of chips. Thanks Sarah, you don’t know what that did for us at that time. Such kind and wonderful people.

Stunning. Very emotive. Give yourself an hour to have a really good un-rushed look through. We arrived earlier than our booking and it was no problem and we were made to feel very welcome. Really recommend!

The work here is amazing. I had to go around several times. Each time I spotted more details, more intricacies. It's a true masterpiece. Have visited a few times over the past 15 years and it's finally completed. Well worth the entry fee. Outstanding carved masterpieces. Preordered tickets 10% off the door price. No photography allowed, but we bought the book which contains fabulous photography much better than I could have taken myself.

Open 9-4pm, $20 adult, $5 child.
As a visitor to Tasmania, many locals & tourists encouraged me to come here.
Interesting BUG sculptures to see along the entry to entry. Heaps of parking, beautiful building exterior,
It's strictly no use of CAMERAS or PHONES inside the building. Very interesting idea, story, artwork, and history. It's a self & easy walk around the WALL sculpture.
Do l think it's value for $20. No, over priced in my opinion. I was in and out in less than 30 min.
No photos 😥. Rules are rules!
There is a lot to see in this Derwent River area though.
Raelene G — Google review
Good wood artwork, but owner is highly business orientated and staffs are not welcoming at all. Not recommended unless you are super crazy about wood art. Even though you pay big entry tickets, photos are not allowed, they went one step above, you can't even touch your phone during visit. They have a book that has photo of the art work, you can buy it by paying another $80, this sounds like commercial. And Kids can't make noise, they will kick you out if you can't maintain th house rules.

One of the final stops of the Overland Track.
You're greeted with a woodfire heater and restaurant, serving a simplified pub menu.
A wonderful space to dry off whilst waiting for any connecting shuttle buses.
There's a leaders board of the top placed trail runners who smash out the track 8 or so hours. Ridiculous.
The actual Visitor Centre has a brief history of the track and various tales of it's inception.

Nice hikes and friendly staff. Food is a little overpriced. Wished they had more in the fight shop ;-)

Such a beautiful & interesting Information centre. Right opposite the Lake's Lodge. Easy to find. Lots of parking. A Cafe is available next door.
The information centre has a wonderful collection of local history, its a museum, and has lots to see and learn throughout. There's a huge gift shop too.
It's a very popular location for all the information required to walk the famous Overlander Track.
I enjoyed the walk around the Lake. The map is easy to follow. I did the 1hr loop through the beautiful tall trees, alongside the lake, to the Platypus viewing area.

Interesting walk. Would be great with more time. We had only 1 to 2 hours. Importantly to go to visitor centre to ask for tracking route. It would be more interesting to walk the trail with the map.

Friendly staff. Paid $48 for a powered site. Maybe not the cheapest but not bad for a night in a national park. Showers are one dollar. Some might find this strange, given the $48, but I just see this as an incentive to conserve water. Also, no WiFi. This isn't bad either as it gives you the opportunity to engage with your neighbours and the beautiful nature around you!

Very good coffee and amazing pastries and cakes, service was prompt and good.
It seems the cafe can be bad some days and absolutely awesome other days Today for us it was awesome very good coffee and we had a blackforrest cake/slice that was exceptional - well-done on the cafe crew.
Guess what we went back again 3 days later, fantastic coffee once again ordered a double shot flat white, it was great and a pistachio cream slice awesome.

The Lake St Clair Visitor Centre is at the southern end of the Cradle Mountain Lake St Clair National Park. It has hikes as do the other parks and of course the lake, however so do several other National Parks in Tasmania and personally I wasn't impressed with this section of the park. I much preferred both the Mt Field and Cradle Mountain National Parks. They both had great walks through much nicer landscapes. They both also had snow when we were there which was great, but did limit the walks we got to do in particular at Cradle Mountain. If you had to choose I would put this park down the list.

What a wonderful place to visit. We were very lucky to have a sunny day when we visited. We were told there’s about five really sunny days every year, so we felt fortunate to see Lake St Clair in the sun.

Another magical area of Tasmania with its wonderful natural splendour. The centre itself is large and staffed with very friendly employees. They are super helpful, as I had but a few hours to explore they suggested which walks I should do in the time I had, and it worked out perfectly. I don't advise doing these walks in the cold harsh winter rain that I did them in, alas we don't control the weather. It was still magical nonetheless, and I would happily visit again regardless of weather. In fact, future plans are to do the overland track starting at this point.

Picked up hubby after finishing the over land track. Free 5 minute Showers available, restaurant/cafe open if needed. Good amount of picnic tables in beautiful surroundings to sit at. Views of the lake stunning from the board walk.

Very informative, warm and comfortable respite from poor weather. Looks great for school groups, but educational to everyone. There's a lot of taxidermy, something to consider for anyone who may have an issue with that. I found it helpful to see what the animals looked like and their size to potentially identify them in the wild or even, sadly, as roadkill. Particularly liked the markings on snake heads to differentiate species.

Lake St Clair, located in the Cradle Mountain-Lake St. Clair National Park in Tasmania's Central Highlands, is a picturesque freshwater lake surrounded by walking trails and stunning views. As part of the Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area, it encompasses the state's renowned Cradle Mountain and Dove Lake. The area features diverse landscapes including mountains and temperate rainforests shaped by ancient glaciers.
Very nice area to visit with a very large and comprehensive visitor information centre. Nice Cafe on sites. Plenty of easy parking.

This is the first time I have visited Lake St Clair. It is 2 hour driving from Mole Creek. There are so many fantastic lakes, lookouts and huts on the Cradle Mountain track. I just spent one day hiking around the Shadow Lake, which takes me 5 hour for the whole loop. I would come back next time for a longer time for the new tracks discovery like Mt Rufus.

Very beautiful lake we have been. Every side like a postcard. There have chances to see platypuses, but it's a pity we didn't see.
It’s a beautiful track and most of it is properly paved. We were lucky and went when the sun was out and there was no rain. Parts of the path can be flooded during/after rain so be prepared in case of weather changes.

An amazing experience. We trekked around this in late August and only passed two other adventurous souls on the 2hr+ hike. The weather was cold, wet and snowy and it was breathtaking. A bit slippery in places due to the thick snow cover but e wouldn’t have had it any other way. I definitely recommend going during the winter as opposed to the summer for the isolation and scenery.

My son and I did this walk and what ever the other one was half way round circit, there's a path that goes up...we went half way and came back down as the weather was turning.
Absolutely LOVED every second! Just stunning scenery! Beautiful beautiful place! I'm so thankful to have experienced it!

This is one of those circuits where you get spoilt by choices. Every further step you take treats you with the amazing lake - snowcapped mountain landscape. A day is not enough for this circuit. It is much more invigorating than what you see in the photos. This awakes the poet inside you.
Few things to note -
1. As it is an high alpine region, weather changes pretty quickly. Prepare and wear accordingly.
2. Whether you are completing full circuit or not, do mention your name in the log book.
3. Strictly follow all the guidelines. Be smart than stupid.

Such a great walk around Dove Lake which will take anything between 2 to 3 hours through some of the most scenic area of Cradle Mountain and the forest that surrounds the lake. You will get great views of the surrounding mountains and CradleMountain itself with some waterfall views coming down the mountain around about an hour into the walk and also brings you past the boat shed. There is sections where you get plenty of steps that vary from boardwalk through to stone steps The track does vary in sections between a walkway to gravel so good shoes are ideal.

Was raining the day we went up there, then got heavier so didn't do the other tracks but it's still a great track to walk IF you brought your rain gear and boots! Quite a few madmen/women walking in shorts or leggings and looking like they were not having a great time.....or setting off late enough in the day to make me think they won't get back till the sun goes down... But if you've got half an idea it's an easy proposition!

Takes quite a while to complete the walk (about 2 hours) but along the way, you get so many nice views. The walk itself is also quite demanding along some sections. Make sure to wear warm clothes as despite the demanding walk, it can get quite chilly. Would definitely recommend checking this out if you are planning to go to Tasmania for holiday.

Iconic walk and a must do. Travel in clockwise directions to get incredible views on the first half of the walk. We did the walk with a 6yo in about 2.5 hours including many photo stops and time at the little beaches.

I wish I can give 10 ⭐⭐⭐ for this place... The place offers breathtaking views... The beauty changes with the changing weather... It was a cloudy day when we visited there but I'm sure the beauty during clear skies might be equally breathtaking.... The circuit is pleasant walk... We visited during Christmas and we were really blessed with great weather... The weather here changes quickly so reserve an additional reserve day if you don't want to miss this amazing place... Visit to Tasmania can't be complete without visiting this heavenly place.

In reality a fine day is a must, while the lake itself is beautiful, a major highlight is the stunning mountain scenery and to be real, the only reason people come here is to see cradle mountain standing tall behind the lake. That said the walk around the lake is magical. It’s on formed tracks, not to steep, around 150m elevation gain over the 6km circuit. If you were rushing you could do it with a few photo stops in an hour or so, much better to allow 3 and spend time relaxing and taking it all in at the many magical places along the way. The track is always close to the lake with stunning scenery and photo opportunities the whole way. The process of getting to the start of the walk from the car park at the visitor centre (there is a cafe and toilets) is pretty straightforward. Buy your bus ticket and off you go. Shuttle buses seem to depart about every 10 minutes or so, stop at the various trail heads along the way and depending on people getting on and off along the way it takes around 20mins. When you arrive at the bus stop there are toilets, use these as you won’t find anymore. If you don’t want to do the whole walk there is a beautiful lookout only 15mins or so from the bus stop, take the clockwise path. Alternatively if you go anticlockwise you’ll get to the boat shed. Both have brilliant photo opportunities. As this is a very popular spot go as early as possible, it can get vey crowded, particularly at the boat shed.
