A must to do in Cairns!!! Barron Falls (Aboriginal: Din Din) is a steep tiered 125 m cascade waterfall on the Barron River located 25 Km NW of Cairns, Queensland, Australia. It may be viewed and reached by road via the Kennedy Highway that crosses the Barron River upstream of the falls, near Kuranda. It could also be reached via Kuranda Scenic Railway and the Skyrail. The falls were named for Thomas Henry Bowman Barron, the Chief Clerk of Police in Brisbane in the 1860s. Highly recommended.

Amazing place for a day out. Head up the mountain in the cable car and down on an incredible railway journey. At the top enjoy views of the falls and there are lots of places to eat.

Thrilling falls ever seen in Australia. You you feel like Amazon forest or some part of Africa with lust forest river and trees. Deepest and very exiting . Cannot get enough with small bath tubs it made and how deep it’s falling . Get a glass top view . Thrilling ..

Can imagine the power the water produces during the wet season.
Great views, you get to stop for 10 mins on the train but from the cable car you can stay as long as you like to take in the views.

Astonishing in Wet Season.
Came in dry season last year, was impressed by the water and size. This years' visit made last year look like a little trickle.
Far North Qld really is amazing

I am fairly sure that you can only access Barron Falls via the Sky Way Cable Car which is another whole wonderful story. You can stop along the way on the Sky Way and get off a Barron Falls there is a boardwalk to a great view where I was able to take the photos of the falls. Located right in the middle of the rainforest if you are in Cairns you must do it
Ryan Hazlewood — Google review
my friend and i did this walk just before sunset on a week day and hardly saw any people really. it was during the dry season and even the waterfall was stunning and unbelievable at that point. i think it was about 1.7km. pretty short track. well maintained. lots of amazing birds and you are just walking on a track that is half way up the rainforest it’s like a jungle.

Would love to come back here when the falls are in full force. It was a lovely day trip all the same. There are plenty of sights to see and a relaxing atmosphere walking through the trees. We did an excusion through the Carnival Cruise we were on which included the Gondal and train. There were views of the falls from both angles.

Great place to check out if you are in the area. There hadn't been much rain when I visited, unfortunately. I would like to see it after some heavy rain, it would be very impressive.
Michael captain_williams79 Williams — Google review
We visited Barron Falls via the SkyRail. It has been raining plenty due to the Wet Season so the falls were absolutely spectacular.
Khan McDonald — Google review
Beautiful waterfall in the midst of a big rainforest. Take a cable ride to get a good view of this waterfall.

We visited the Falls from the Kuranda side. And you may also see this spectacular waterfall on the Skyrail journey as you come up or down between Smithfield and Kuranda. In both cases, you also experience the unforgettable rainforest of this unique area. Both journeys have informative signs and teach you a lot about the rainforest. The board walk from the Kuranda side takes you into the forest and it is totally awe inspiring. To me it is one of the most unique places in the world.
Liz Packwood — Google review
Very informative, exciting train ride up the mountain. Or down if you like. It is noisy and squealing on the tracks and when in the tunnels the smoke is choking, I only mention this for those who may be triggered by noise or breathing issues. So much information provided all Ng the way, very friendly staff, even the toilet has a view. A wonderful must do experience.
Donna-Louise Wilson — Google review
This would be much better after heavy rains, it had been a bit dry when we visited so the water volume was not that impressive. There are basically 3 viewing platforms, the first close to the car park if you drive to the falls, the other on this side of the falls is the train station which you can walk down to from the car park or of course if you take the Kuranda Scenic Railway. On the other side you get to by disembarking the Skyrail at the Barron falls station.

Great introduction to the area. Had no idea that it had a tobacco history!
There’s a visitor centre with helpful staff and a heritage museum which is free but has a tin for gold coin donations.

I enjoyed learning old lifestyle and ended up staying for couple of hours! There was a charging spot as well, I found it very helpful

What a little treasure trove this turned out to be, great displays a huge amount of history on mareeba and surrounding districts plus personalities who where instrumental in its development, staff were super friendly and the family really enjoyed their time checking out each one of the displays, highly recommended and I will certainly be back to visit again
Stephen France — Google review
Very well compiled non-profit museum featuring history of the era. Staff very knowledgeable and helpful. Plenty of displays to view and loads of information. You could walk around for hours and not take everything in. Admission is only $5 for an adult and for children up to 15 years admission is free. Admission covers 3 days admission. There is also a good cafe out the back for you to have a break. Also excellent stock of souvenirs to take home.

Fantastic little Gem that you must visit if you're around the area. I couldn't believe the amount of exhibits in the facility for no admission fee (please donate gold coin upon entry). Fascinating history about Australian way of life back in the day. Cleanest public toilets I've come across in Cairns so far (kudos to the staff), Free coffee facilities and a small restaurant with very affordable dishes.. Highly recommended..

Awesome experience. So full of valuable info presented with today's technology.
Great place for all ages. Especially enjoyed watching whip making. So skilful
Andrew Franklin — Google review
There is much more in this museum than you would assume from the outside. Multiple sheds and buildings show everything from aboriginal heritage to tabak farming to modern use. It feels like a huge unorganised collection from all over the timeline.
Till Ich — Google review
Many beautiful things to see and enjoy in the museum. If you want to stick around with the kids, there's a cafeteria outside with toilets and plenty of things that will keep the young ones occupied. Food is lovely and it was a quiet place when I went.

Enjoyed my time there very much! There is definitely a lot to see and learn about. The cafe also does some amazing food. Overall our visit was pleasant and staff are super helpful and welcoming.

We've visited the excellent museum and cafe several times in the last couple of years. Called in again this morning on a quick trip from Adelaide only to find there is now a $5.00 admission fee even just to go in and have a coffee at the cafe. I don't know in who's world the beauracrat who thought this up thinks it's a workable business model, but needless to say we walked away very disillusioned, and sadly won't be recommending it to any of our network of friends and acquaintances in future.

Just wow - great place for lunch, morning or afternoon tea!! It is completely free to enter and so much local history on display. If you are passing through Mareeba - then this is an absolute must do!!

Great place just to drop in and have Coffee, Tea, Juice or chose from the extensive menu. Great Meals for Breakfast, Brunch or Lunch or Scones and Jam & Cream.
I've had the Breaky Wrap and Breaky Crossoint. Eggs Benedict also looks good.
Many other items available.
Worth being a local with free entry Museum for one payment of $5
The Australian Butterfly Sanctuary is a Kuranda tourist attraction that houses over 1500 butterflies in a natural rainforest setting. The sanctuary is a short walk from the Birdworld Kuranda amusement park.
Perfect way to spend a rainy day visiting the gorgeous butterflies🦋 here, it is so exciting when they land on you, it's the feeling of personal peace. So many different varieties & a chance to see the eggs, caterpillars & the cocoons in the living environment. What a learning experience. So pretty & lots of souvenirs at the shop on the way out. Take the time to wander through🤩😍🤩

Absolutely beautiful. I've never seen so many butterflies in the same place. I enjoyed being able to look at the laboratory. Was a bit concerned by the people I saw trying to touch butterflies. Saw one kid actually touching a butterfly's wing. Also saw a blue butterfly that looked like it had a damaged wing (see photo) May need a greater staff presence inside to prevent that.
Bec R — Google review
Great place 😁👍 a lot of 🦋
👩⚕️🦋It is worth taking advantage of the free guided tour. The staff explains things very interestingly and you can get a lot more from this place than visiting it on your own. Tours start approximately every 30 minutes.
🐛🦋🌿You can see caterpillars, cocoons, butterflies and moths. small place but worth seeing. If you are lucky, butterflies will land on you
Marcin Lipiecki — Google review
Great experience, lovely staff and so awesome to see so many butterflies and the way they are bred! Was hard to catch a picture of the famous birdwing butterfly but definitely worth the trip! Also great being able to learn more about butterflies as you walk around even if you are just by yourself!

🦋 Beautiful experience 🦋
Such an lovely place! I was worried that it would be hard to see the butterfly’s but they are legit everywhere!
Make sure you were bright colours so they land on you. They loved my partners yellow jumper but didn’t once land on me 😭
Taylah Bons — Google review
Not a very big place but its beautiful to see so many butterflies flying around! If you are lucky you will get 1 or 2 landing on you, maybe wear brighter yellow or pink clothes to attract them! Also highly recommend asking a staff member to show and explain what is happening in the breeding section.
Khor Yuan Zhi — Google review
A cute little butterfly sanctuary where you can walk amongst the butterflies, see them hatching and growing. We enjoyed it, but you won’t need a lot of time here. We spent under an hour so it was quite an expensive little visit for 2 adults and 2 teenagers.
Marjorie — Google review
I am terrified of these things, but staff were good for a laugh and very helpful. The enclosure is stunning with a diverse range of plants and feeding stations. Highly reccomend if you're a butterfly person. Take water with you because it is hotter and muggier/more humid than it is outside.
Philippa Jerram — Google review
This experience is so peaceful & exciting at the same time. I love how it’s has the water running & the butterflies Fluttering. This attraction is great for all ages. Take your camera as their are plenty of photo opportunities 🦋
Rhonda James — Google review
I love butterflies and really enjoyed visiting this place. Butterflies are very social and they land on you all the time. I was wearing a hat and they loved it, it's easier for them to land there than your hair. Highly recommend wearing one. Just watch your step as some of them are laying on the floor. Take your time and go slowly, stand in one spot for a little while so they get use to you.
Antonia Icaza Undurraga — Google review
So cool. Huge room full of butterfly's. We had a guide and she was very knowledgeable. They have a cool hatchery lab, the biggest fairy garden I've ever seen, a microscope with samples to check out, and a collection on display. Their gift shop has super cool stuff in it too.
Brittany Barwick — Google review
We had a great time in the butterfly sanctuary. It is not a big place, but you can spend as much time as you want by enjoying nature with butterflies around you. Related information about butterflies is available at the exit, and the gift shop has nice souvenirs as well.
Yvonne Luk — Google review
We had an amazing experience here, honestly the staff were amazing,
We got to walk around with a self guided tour without being pushed around with strict timeline,
The only upsetting thing, the power went out to no fault of the butterfly sanctuary, and we couldn't get our photo,
The staff offered us a revisit within 30 days, honestly cannot wait to go again.
Kieren B — Google review
Sitting in a butterfly habitat sooths the soul. They have such a great array of indigenous and monarch butterflys to enjoy. You only need 30-40 minutes but it is worth the stop. The "museum" section is air conditioned if you need a breather and the staff was sooo friendly. The lovely woman even filled my water bottle with cold water seeing that the heat was troubling me.
Jeffrey Seidman — Google review
Pretty, some lovely photos be had.
Not a place I would stay too long at, but enjoyed a short visit. Staff at counter were really lovely and chatted and very informative.

We took our 15 yr old here and out of our 12 days in Sydney and Cairns, he loved the Butterfly Sanctuary the best!🤷🏼♀️ They will come sit on you so it is fun to watch. They are really beautiful creatures.🦋
Jessie W. — Google review
Amazing facility. The plants alone are stunning but there's ongoing joy with all the tiny details to be noted everywhere. And then there's the butterflies, getting up to their fluttery mischief and saucy copulatory antics. Wear bright colours and those little flappers will come to you.
Kath Angus — Google review
This place is what dreams are made of. Not the biggest inclosure or rooms and rooms of things to look at, however, they have one beautiful inclosure that is filled with amazing, beautiful butterfly everywhere. If you are in Cairns and Don't check this place out you have really missed an experience
The Kuranda Original Rainforest Markets is a vibrant outdoor market with locals selling crafts, clothing, produce and homemade goods. The market is located in the village of Kuranda which is known for its scenic surroundings and strong Indigenous heritage.
Beautiful,.magical place. Love the atmosphere and the vibe. Love the walk through,.pass the cute shops..
Fagan family ! — Google review
The markets are almost entirely spiritual hippie stuff or incense. It’s all the same. The markets are in a beautiful location though AND the two Japanese businesses alone are worth going for. Those two shops are AMAZING and run by the sweetest people. Delicious food and traditional. The rest of the market is honestly a miss.
Chris C — Google review
Small markets that are tucked away several blocks from the station. Smells of weed and the stall holders just seem to tolerate tourists with a weird vibe. Still worth checking out if you like hippie-alt stuff and the restaurants there were good. Definitely worth only going to Kuranda from Thursday-Sunday so you go when these markets are open as there is nothing much else interesting up there.
Mark Tayar — Google review
My husband and I spent a really happy day wandering around Kuranda.
We really loved the atmosphere of the Rainforest Markets. Most of the sites were open and we were brought into a different world of smells and sights.
The Easy Tiger Tapas restaurant took our eye for a morning coffee and an Iced Chocolate. Both were delicious.
We headed into town and enjoyed spending time there, but decided to return to the same little Tapas restaurant for lunch - it turned out to be a wise choice as every dish was delicious.

From spiritual to a pocket of Japanese tea/bread/food to standard tourists stuff.

Nice market, great vibes, happy people! They sell bubble tea here too. Just about ten minutes walk from the station and probably the best market out of all!
Millie Chin (Milliefujii) — Google review
Quirky & beautiful. It's like something out of Enid Blyton's the Faraway Tree - the land of Faerie markets. Bring cash, because many stalls don't take cards. We missed out on the mini golf because no cash. But well worth a visit.
Carla Coulston — Google review
Highly recommended, worth spending an entire day there. Particularly noteworthy is the Sky rail, which allows you to take in the breathtaking scenery.
MINGJUAN MA — Google review
There are so many tourist shops around there selling cheap Australian souvenirs. To me, the best part of the market is the hippy corner, very quirky, fun, and full of colours.
nicolas caillier — Google review
Larger and more interesting than the Kuranda Heritage Market. Many outdoor stalls selling crafts, clothing, produce and homemade goods. Various dining options. Seems very touristy but was worth a wander around. Only open Wednesday to Sunday.
Michael Case — Google review
I went off season and there were shops that weren’t opened. I didn’t take too many photos as it is the atmosphere that I felt there, all the shopkeepers were nice. The market was actually quite big in a sense that you will need half a day to really explore it properly. I also loved that there were organic shops to eat at.
You really have to look around to notice where you’d spend your money on here. I went into the shops that were all locally made and produced from Kuranda and not the souvenir shops as I support locally made organic shops. I also spent money on stand alone businesses like tarot reading etc. I spoke to Karen at rare earth oils half the day and Heidi at her clothes shop to pick up a rare cotton vest.
Hannah Miguel — Google review
What a fantastic market to visit, as it's its so unique and has such a quirky and spiritual vibe about it. We just love walking around the little stalls selling a lot of unique gifts and arts and crafts. The cafes are just so cute with outdoor tables to enjoy the serenity of the Rainforest. Can't wait to go back one day.
Kimberly N — Google review
Very interesting market place. There are a lot of hippie clothes and jewelry for sale, there is a lot to discover and it is a nice place to look around on the weekend.
At Birdworld Kuranda, you can see many different exotic and native birds from all over the world. This attraction features a large aviary with free-flying birds and is great for kids.
My husband and I just visited Birdworld and it was such a delightful experience! The sanctuary is beautiful and the birds are amazing. They land all over you and some of them like to have a quick chat. The staff were so friendly and helpful with our questions. I loved it and would definitely visit again. I didn't want to leave.

A little birdie told me that this place is a place to flock to. I didn’t bring a wing man, but I did buy the tickets and added it to my bill. This was just a lovely experience, although I’d recommend dressing as a flapper. If you come here, make sure to tweet about it. I was certainly all a twitter - as I loved it so much! The ducks are great too, they quack me up.

Beautiful birds, staff are exceptionally friendly and know a lot about the birds they keep.
It's fantastic to have all the different birds land on you to feed them They're very gentle, and all have such wonderful personalities.

Had an amazing time in the open, interactive aviary. There are so many different bird species. Great photo opportunities as the birds fly up onto you where you can feed and pat them. Loved seeing the Macaw’s and Lory’s. Great experience

Big and small kids in the familia all had a fun experience at the Birdworld! If you love being up close and personal with our feathery friends, this is the place to be! You'll find Birdworld at the end/top of Kuranda Village across the playground and public loo.

Loved birdworld! So many beautiful birds. But the food for $2 at the entrance. We got to feed so many birds and a few ended up even landing on us. From the macaws to the cuddling pink cockatoos you will not be disappointed.
Janelle Holmes — Google review
This place is a must visit if you are a bird lover. You can hand feed the parrots and some will even land on you! They are quite cheeky as well. One managed to unzip my backpack and steal my facemask which it happily played with for a while.
There is no time limit so you can spend as long or little time here as you like.
Sarah Hu — Google review
Slightly smallish at 3/4 acre, ran out of food by mid morning (yes limit food intake but fun is in feeding birds) and too many collared parrots. Only major plus, very close interaction with birds.
Giri K — Google review
If you love birds this is a must! We had a ball and stayed for ages. The kids loved it! If it was bigger we would have stayed all day.
Sandi Grace — Google review
Birdworld is a pleasent bird sanctuary with well kept enclosures and a good assortment of bird species. Watch out for the odd cheeky bird that likes to steal things from earrings to cap buttons. Could do with some educational features like species information and an interactive staff/bird display. Entrance is oddly set behind local market stalls.
J Burns — Google review
Birdworld has som many beautiful natives and exotic birds. Was an amazing experience to be up close feeding and enjoying the birds.
Mikayla Hillsley — Google review
Small area but hosts many different birds; however, the only bird that was unique from other bird aviaries was the Cassowary. As there isn't much to the place, a more detailed review can't be made. Much like your average aviary.
("aviary" and "bird" have very few synonyms, that is why it is repeated to the point of it being painful to read)
a — Google review
Hubby and I popped in here after visiting the markets. As soon as we walked through the door, I had a bird land on my head. All birds, except cassowary, are free to fly around the enclosure. While most birds were not happy for pats, they were comfortable with us getting up close for pics. It was one of the cleanest aviaries I've ever seen. We also got the locals discount 😊

We went in reluctantly but it was the highlight of the area. The birds are quite active and not nippy at all. They were obviously well socialized and taken care of. This was a treat! Buy the bird food - more friends are interested in you then.

Went first thing in the morning. Beautiful and clean. So many kinds of birds and water tortoises. Many birds happy to eat from your hands, some land on your arm or shoulder. The plants were beautiful too. Highly recommend.

A fantastic experience, a must-do if you're in the area of Kuranda, I'd highly recommend buying a joint ticket for both the Koala Gardens and Birdworld (you can also get a ticket to include the Butterfly Sanctuary if you'd like) which will save you a little bit of money.
The birdworld was awesome, so many exotic birds flying around! You can feed them with seed and pellets provided, I even had a beautiful and daring Rainbow Lorikeet land on my back! The variety of birds here is great and I learnt a lot about the exotic birds of the world.
One thing I would recommend that I'm not certain is a thing or not is a guided tour of the sanctuary which provides fun facts about each of the birds so you can learn more, I don't mind of it's an extra purchase personally, but I would've loved to have a guide inform me about some cool facts so I could learn more about the awesome birds I was seeing!
If you're looking for a unique and memorable experience while in Australia, the Kuranda Koala Gardens should definitely be on your list. Not only can you view these adorable koalas up close, but this park is one of the few places in the country where people are allowed to hold them.
Great place to see koalas (and hold one) and other wildlife. The animals look well cared for and active during the day. It was just under $100 for 2 people entry and souvenir photos holding a koala each (operating at specific times, last session was 2:30pm when we went). Well designed in a loop where you can get pretty up close to the wildlife, and easily doable in an hour. Friendly staff. Would recommend for a Cairns trip.
They had an onsite cafe, restaurant and market which we only briefly walked through.
Anni Phan — Google review
A nice small Australian animal sanctuary. Well priced. There are lots of koalas and wallabies. You can pat and feed the wallabies for free. A visit takes about 40 minutes.
You have to walk through some market stalls to reach the entrance.
There is a playground next to where there is parking, with public toilets nearby.
Tiffany Woolfield — Google review
The place is really small. I wasn't expecting a huge park but it was smaller than I imagined. The queue for taking photos with koalas was huge and if you were the last in the line you will have to probably wait for an hour. Otherwise it wasn't that busy. Kudos to the ladies that take pictures. You really need a lot of patience.
Razvan Bogasiu — Google review
Super cute place, must visit. The Koalas are in an enclosure but you can see them up close napping or min munching. If you want to hold a Koala you need to buy a photo ticket, same for a snake/lizard.
It was bright and sunny day with some drizzles so the kids could pet a lot of kangaroos and wallaby. The kangaroos were fed so much by visitors before us that day they dint want to eat the paid food but they were eating grass, so when the kids were happily feeding them grass. Every employee there seemed so friendly and aware of special needs and very helpful.

Now this place was cool! Pricing good. Staff knowledgeable. I especially liked the shared enclosures - it looked very homey and it was nice seeing different animals interact with each other. Nocturnal zoo section was next level!! I really enjoyed it 😊

MUST VISIT PLACE❤️.
Once you reached kuranda you have few things to do and one of the best is koala garden and koala cuddle. You can see crocodile, kangaroo and the koala. You have to take tickets separately for koala cuddle. Tickets can be purchase in front of the garden entrance and wait for the next time slot. Small kids are not allowed to hold koala. You can feed kangaroos there. Overall a nice experience. Time duration: 1 hour min

This is one of the best things to see & do in Kuranda. Fantastic selection of local wildlife as well as crocodiles, snakes, the wombat & of course the koalas. For a small extra fee you can have a photo cuddling a koala. Feed the beautiful little Melamines and Wallabies as you sit amongst them hopping around the garden. Hold one of the biggest pythons you could imagine and check out the crocodile feeding time. Absolutely wonderful & well worth every cent.

Nice place to get your Koala picture. Place is rather small. Staying in Cairns, it’s better to visit the zoom too close to Cairns casino.
Stefan Iseli — Google review
It’s a nice experience! The place is small, but has interesting animals for non Aussies. I think it could be cheaper as it is a quick entertainment. You can view the place in half an hour.
For people willing to pay extra, there’s an opportunity to take a photo holding a koala.
Tami — Google review
From the moment we stepped into Kuranda Koala Gardens, it was clear that we were in for a treat. The gardens provide a serene setting that brings you face-to-face with some of Australia's most beloved animals. The koalas are the undeniable stars here, and the opportunity to see them up close, munching on eucalyptus leaves or snoozing in the crooks of trees, is genuinely heartwarming.
Not only are the koala encounters memorable, but the chance to meet and learn about wallabies, wombats, and a variety of reptiles adds to the experience. The staff are passionate about their work and the welfare of the animals, offering insightful information about each species' habits and conservation status.
The gardens are well-maintained, and the layout ensures an intimate experience, avoiding the feeling of a commercial zoo. It's an educational and engaging visit for both kids and adults, fostering a deep appreciation for Australian wildlife.
We left the gardens with a camera full of pictures, a heart full of joy, and a deeper understanding of the importance of conservation efforts. Kuranda Koala Gardens is a must-visit for anyone looking to embrace the unique charm of Australia's fauna.

Enjoyed the gardens but LOVED the bird sanctuary. We visited with family and a 2 year old who loved feeding the birds and scratching the ducks behind their ears as her mother showed her.
The birds were connected, communicative and comfortable with humans so the joy was mutual.
A truly memorable experience with these beautiful, intelligent and kind wonders of sky and land.

Great range of wildlife. They also have a nocturnal house with bilbies and possums. I would recommend this place if you hadn't seen these animals before or if you really love to go to these sorts of places. You can feed the kangaroos for no cost. The koala holding photos are paid, however. For $20 entry fee, it's not a bad deal. There is a $35 ticket that you can get which will also get you into Birdworld - much better value. The koala gardens are actually quite small so if you've seen places like Australia Zoo before, you may find it a bit boring.

What a fantastic experience watching and holding a Koala. The staff at the entrance provided a lot of information about the place and she was very welcoming. We got to see the Kangaroos and wombats during feeding time. We didn’t have a long wait. I strongly recommend this experience.

Wonderful albeit small but perfectly formed to enable us to see everything and as closely as possible. Highlight was def koalas. Allowed within 2 metres of them. Absolutely adorable and they seemed at ease

Nice place with a good mix of animals who appear to be well cared for. Staff were very friendly and accommodating. Holding a Koala (Milky) was a highlight. We spent time with each of the animals and were finished in about 40 mins, this did not include holding the Koala which took about the same amount of time.

Nice experience with the ability to get up close to some Australian critters. I was actually taken aback at the lack of pens and fences. The animals were very active! It was small but well done. We opted to go to Bird World after as well (that is a ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ experience!).

The main attraction is the chance to hold a koala. That was good. The rest of the gardens has crocs, wombats, snakes, and some kangaroos. Every single animal was asleep!

Modest park with a variety of animals ranging from Koalas to kangaroos to crocs. The 'hug a koala' is a unique experience, one that i believe is limited to Queensland.
We enjoyed walking round the park, feeding the kangaroos and the cheesy koala photo. From our observations, the Koalas were not put under any stress and were returned to their slumber if the handler felt they were not comfortable.

Kuranda Koala Garden is a great place to visit, especially if the weather is clear. Unfortunately, during my visit, it was raining non-stop, which made the experience a bit rushed as I was very wet. However, despite the rain, I still managed to see a sleeping koala, a few kangaroo’s
Overall, it's a worthwhile stop if you have the chance to visit on a dry day.

Small. People were friendly. Got there after the cut off to hold the koala, but squeezed in for a touch and photo. Photo wasn't inexpensive, but they let you take your own photos too. Luckily only a few people when I was there... otherwise this could take up a lot of time. Some other animals too. Hearing about them was more interesting than the animals them selves.

What an amazing, surprising place to visit! We watched the koalas dozing on their tree stumps, various wallaby and grey kangaroo wandering freely between their pens and our pathways. Incredible crocs, frogs, snakes, sugar gliders and bandicoot.
As a foreign visitor I was impressed not only to see the animals but the way they are cared for and their habitats were very impressive.
I had the great honour of holding a koala called Lucy. She was quite a calm, well cared for bear. This experience will stick with me forever.

Cute little animal sanctuary. Be sure to get the Kuranda experience pass and do the Birdwood and the butterfly sanctuary all at once. Great place to get your picture taken with a Koala

Loverly place to see close up the very cuddly and gorgeous Koala bears. You can for an extra fee hold one and have a pic taken, but we felt this might not be in the bears beat interest.

Koalas are so cute. You can see them up close and have your picture taken with them if you want to. Some kangaroos and other animals there also. Highly recommend if you want to see koalas.
Gourmet chocolates & house-roasted coffee in a large, industrial-chic space.
The one in Mareeba is an interesting place to visit. The aroma of the roasted coffee hits me as soon as we entered. The flat white tastes nice, with robust flavours. And the shop sells lots of interesting trinkets. The chocolate taste nice.

Had a coffee and toasty, really great. OMG, the museum was fantastic. So many different ways to make coffee starting from a long time ago. There would have to be 500 machines, grinders etc... worth a visit.! So many coffee types, it would be nice to try them all. But they don't have tastings. You can smell them. Yum.

Coffee and chocolate lovers won't be disappointed at Coffee Works. My wife and I enjoyed great espresso, hot chocolate made with real chocolate (not powder) and mud cake that's rich and moist (plus a number of different chocolates from the chocolate shop). Great service and a fabulous coffee museum that's definitely worth checking out. The chocolates made on the premises are next level, with flavours and textures that are simply a delight. A wide selection of coffee beans including locally grown. We found all prices quite reasonable. We had high expectations about this place and we were not disappointed. Highly recommended.

Friendly staff. Great coffee. Perfect temperature. If you like it hot, ask for it hot. If I was ordering a coffee here for a grey nomad I would ask for it hot. Otherwise, the coffee temperature is perfect. A lot of unfair reviews on here. Almost made me not stop. Glad I did. Nice garden setting. A great little local business that the owners should be proud of.

Interesting and busy coffee and chocolate factory.
We met friends here for morning tea. Our scones were warmed and delivered with ample jam and cream. Fast service considering it was busy.
The coffee was good too 👍🏼
And they have loads of different flavoured grinds and beans for you to buy.
I had a look around the shop at the many gift lines for sale and then into the air con room to check out the chocolate.
So many different varieties and also some great different shapes !
Overall a good experience 😁

The coffee works is a fantastic place in Mareeba. Very interesting with all their coffee machines museum and they have got some fantastic stuff to look at in their shop but the biggest problem I have with that place. They need some decent cakes and pastries for a chocolate place. They should be putting out so much more.
Plus, the staff are excellent very happy very friendly. Can’t complain they just need some nice cakes and pastries Yum !!!!!!!!!!! All that chocolate there you could have some beautiful Gateaux tortes and slices. Come on what goes good with coffee🍰🍰🍰🍰be known for it.
Hi, it’s me Chris back again there must be someone in that beautiful little town that owns a bakery or a cake shop that could supply you with cakes. I’m sure that would work. What do you think worth a try? And also there are very good frozen products on the market today who’s gonna know. Good luck I wish you the best you’ve got a gold mine there.

I don’t really care about the love that went into the presentation and all the marketing stuff that can stay on your website, I think $9 for a regular mocha no matter how magical and sensational for the tastebuds it might be is crazy. For it to be disappointing too was a let down for that cost, but then to get a reply back saying that we basically don’t know what we are talking about and that everyone loves their famous mocha shows what kind of place this is. I thought the point of being able to review was about giving your opinion and informing others, well you’re not going to like what I have to say now. Don’t go there, it’s crazy overpriced, all a gimmick and mediocre

Had a really pleasant experience a coffee works with visiting from Perth Western Australia to country, Queensland, very accommodating and friendly I had hedgehog slice, which was chocolatey delicious add a mocha, which consisted of warm milk a block of chocolate to be melted in the drink and espresso coffee on the side pored in Marooba also had a coffee museum. All traits are made on site including coffee beans which are growin there will be ordering when I get back to W.A. apparently everything is available online and they are well known for having good turnover my friends who are like family to me also bought a parrot clock from there. They have a right range of knickknacks that you could buy for around $99-$200 a packet really well ready for travel if you're coming from another state such as us travelling on virgin Airways back to Western Australia. Can't wait to come again next year

Second time in which I visited here. A little museum on site which was free to see. Small sized gift shop on site. An area which had a variety of chocolate products available for purchase, which were a little pricey. Plenty of coffee available for purchase. A cafe section to sit in and enjoy a coffee, which I tried was not too strong for my liking and hot. Friendly service whom were very accomidating. Worth the stop to see.

The hook was Australia grown coffee. But it was roasted too dark, like an American coffee chain. I normally get espresso but it was roasted too dark for that. So I got a long black, which was actually OK. If you like proper Melbourne or Seattle espresso, this will not be the place for you. If you like Starbucks but in a more local not-chain-store format, you will probably be happy. The gift shop would be a novelty to tourists who are not deeply inculcated in afficionado-level coffee. There is good coverage of several traditional Italian non-espresso coffee brewing devices for sale.

A quick coffee and cake while travelling. Of course my cake was Gluten and Dairy free. Fruit and nut slice for me and my wife had scones with jam and cream, both were fantastic.

Started with a delicious breakfast which came very quick! We had eggs Benedict and signature Hot Chocolate (both pictures) and we're mouth watering. The best hot chocolate I have ever had!
We then went into the tastings where we were able to try 25 types of coffee, 12 types of chocolate, 5 types of liquors and 4 types of teas. After a delicious testing was the museum which was full of information and a wide range of gorgeous coffee and chocolate products! Definately a must go for the family or couple.
Bistro meals, plus artisanal coffee and sweet treats, in a sprawling establishment with a garden.
Loved sitting in the garden, perfect clear blue sky, being served the freshest produce I’ve had in some time, my eggs were perfect. Not only was the service fast and friendly the music playing really added to the atmosphere 10/10

The drive here was curious and fun... off the main road, head down a dirt road for a short bumpy trip, a small water crossing, till you meet tarmac again... trust your GPS it is not leading you down the wrong path...
I did the self guided tour, $15, includes a great 15min movie, the Jaques family put together, displayed in a home cinema... great set up. Really informative, light hearted, then the family share their challenges faced to get where they are today, over a 40+ yr span.... the Jaques are amazingly strong and inspirational... "never give up"!
Coffee was delicious, menu is small, but offers something for everyone.
I now have a new appreciation for coffee
Update... my GPS did play tricks... after departing the coffee farm, I watched mutliple cars go right, opposite way I came in... so I decided to see where it lead.... it was a quick, tarmac drive back to the main road... I actually preferred my off the beaten track adventure, which I found coming from the north... it added to the experience, just don't go this way in the wet season 🙃

This cafe was an afternoon stop as part of a day tour I took and sits on its own coffee plantation. I didn't know what to expect from this stop and the tasting on offer.
We were presented with 7 items (including a couple of chocolate coated espresso beans) on the tasting platter and I enjoyed every drop. It's one of the best coffees I've ever tasted. But you've got to try it for yourself to decide.
One interesting drink we sampled was the cold brewed coffee cherries. These cherries were steeped in hot water, just like tea. The drink was delicious and refreshing. The accompanying scones were delightful.
Wolf Lane Distillery makes a coffee liqueur and guess where the coffee comes from?
I would definitely recommend this place as the passion and knowledge shone through in the presentation of the tasting platter. They know what they're doing. A must visit!
Say hi to Rowan on your way in. 😉

Interesting termite mounds on the drive in. Nice cafe with outdoor seating area. The iced latte and caramel latte were nice. The coffee tour wasn’t available at the time we visited which was a shame but you could still see the coffee plants on either side of the driveway. Nothing screamed take me back there. Recommend a visit if you’re in the area but not worth the drive from Cairns

Finally managed to stop by for a visit. The place was busier than we expected but managed to get a table on the deck. Took awhile to queue to place our order, and again for the food to come out, but again, the place was packed. Coffee and the food were amazing and excellent value, just needed a few more berries and another scoop of ice cream to have enough for both waffles, but apart from that, everything was great
Camping park with huge granite boulders, a creek for swimming & canoeing, plus tame rock wallabies.
Lots of wonderful animals and bursting bushland to see fantastic views from the rocks paths are unique to say the least they are for the adventurous type not a easy walk. Not suitable for people with disabilities or have trouble climbing. Family fun for camping and other animals to enjoy and feed the wallabies full facilities available, for day trips or camping trips.

A gorgeous gorge, well worth the small fee per person. We did the extended trek, only 90 minutes total with some grade 4 scrambling over and sliding down rocks. Good shoes and free hands a must.

Great experience feeding all the animals! We decided to stay the night, worth doing if you're doing a late afternoon walk. There's 2 levels of tracks to follow, and we did both. It was a little more hectic than I expected, but we definitely had a lot of fun climbing and squeezing through the rocks.

Superb setting.
Fascinated by the hollow sounding boulders.
Would like to see non native pink flowering plants removed from site asap before they spread.
Was dismayed to see caged animals in reception, especially the cockatoos. No need.
However, the water was delicious, so cool for swimming. Bird life abundant.
The campsite looked very natural with plenty of water views

Lovely, family friendly camping spot! Plenty of space to set up so you don’t feel to close to other camp sites. They have powered and unpowered sites, as well as clean bathroom facilities.
The nature park is about a 15 minute drive from Mareeba. This was super helpful when we realised we had forgotten stuff for dinner…
There are several walking paths to go on and lots to see here. High recommend coming up for a weekend and exploring what this place has to offer.

It's close to the tablelands, or you can drive here from Cairns. It's worth the visit. But you need to pay the entrance fees before getting in, and you have to buy the wallabies food if you want to feed them. But for 2 dollars it's pretty worth it.
The entrance fee is about 15 dollars per pax.
The wallabies rock just near the entrance. Over the rock it's all rock, so basically you just climb rock to see more rocks
At the end of the rock you will see an amazing view. If you are too lazy to climb the rock back you can take the emergency exit which just a smooth path directs you back to the park, but it can be very hot in a sunny day
The park has a lot of parrots as well. I heard some of them talk, like how you're doing which is pretty cool
And they have pigs and sheep as well
Overall very good spend for a day

We came across the Granite gorge only by seeing the sign on the roadside . We absolutely loved feeding the Little Rock wallabies. We completed both the yellow and red walks ! Good walking shoes recommended! Absolutely loved this adventure . Worth the $13 each and $ 2 for pellets to feed wallabies 😊

The rocks and boulders and general area, beautiful and worth a look.
It's well marked trail, wallabies bit is fun.
What was less savoury were the caged birds and animals. All seemed too small too cramped no heat lamps for reptiles, water or climbing options for lizards.
Caged birds always a tough one for our family. Lovely to see them but is a small cage the best way to live for an animal that flies hundreds of miles?
Clearly the place has to pass QLD inspection (although displayed license is out of date), so we might assume these cages meet standards, but my kids were not impressed.

Cool little spot.. you can see the river meandering around all the huge granite boulders, there are many tame wallabies here and also the owner has all sorts of birds for you to interact with. There is a campground for those that would like to stay overnight also

This place well and truly outshines it's advertising. What a gem of a camping spot. Turkeys, peacocks, chickens and other ground fowl putter around. The watering hole is a nice cool off in the heat. The lizards, snakes and birds at the beautiful reception building are a treat for the kids (and adults!). However, the 2 km of hiking through the gorge is what blew our socks off. We loved the small challenges of the rock climbs for my 5 year old and the labelling of the track. The dinosaur footprints, dinosaur rock, turtle rock, and whale rock, plus interesting assistance along the way (rock holds, pipes, bridges and cement stepping stones). I forgot to mention our super comfortable and fun safari tent for the night! At $65 for a semi permanent tent with a double bed and linen, this place is a no brainer for a weekend away!! So glad I found it this weekend! Oh!! The rock wallabies are a HUGE drawcard, too. This place has it all!

One of the best bang for your bucks places we stayed at in terms of excitement for the kids when holidaying in Far North QLD.
Don't get put off by the 1990's website, or an Excel spreadsheet for a booking system, this place is worth seeing.
The rock wallabies are super cute and are the highlight attraction, watching them play, interact while being able to pat them was enjoyed by the whole family.
The holiday park also has a bunch of beautiful parrots and reptiles that the kids got to handle and talk to. Roaming peacocks/hens are also cool to see.
We got to do a short walk on the boulders. We finished the medium course and attempted half of the difficult part of the course, but the kids bailed on it, so we turned back.
It seems there is also a place for people to swing off into the water.
At night we gathered some wood and had a small fire next to our cabin which was great fun for the kids.
The cabin it self is small and basic but it was clean, came with towels and soap/shampoo and that's all we really needed. Did I mention the rock wallabies are awesome? Some came around in the evening and hung out around our cabin.
If we walk around the holiday park you will find some fruit trees. We picked starfruit and guava.

This is a beautiful place to visit. The scenery is spectacular, great interaction with the rock wallabies. A little cold for a swim, but is great when the weather is a little warmer. Make sure you wear good footwear if you plan on walking through the Gorge.
Palm Cove Beach is a beautiful, long beach with crystal-clear water and stunning tropical scenery. Visitors can relax on the white sand beaches or enjoy the lively atmosphere of the village while fishing, swimming or simply taking in the views. Palm Cove is well known for its laid-back atmosphere and family-friendly attractions.
Very friendly staff beautiful atmosphere and right beside the pool. There is also a swim up bar for your convenience.
Good choices on their menu's for breakfast, lunch and dinner 🍽🥂
If you don't feel like going out of the resort it is a really welcome choice.
There are some resident Magpie Geese who are quite friendly unless you get too close to the female who is nesting on around 8 eggs at the moment.
Last but not least the gardens are full of beautiful flowers and the pond have good sized Barramundi in them.
All in all, a fantastic experience 🤗

A beautiful narrow sandy beach with a long promenade of hotels, apartments, shops, restaurants and cafes. The beach slopes steeply into the ocean. Open water paddling and swimming is risky due to jelly fish, salt water crocodiles and sharks. There is a supervised netted area provided which is safe. Other facilities include a childrens play area and free to use electric barbecue stations.

Surely one of the best beaches across Australia. While there are signs - if you swim between the flags forget about crocodiles, and stingers are not an issue. Fantastic sand for the kids to build their castles, excellent facilities always nearby (toilets, drinking water fountains, showers, tables, BBQs), ample natural shading from trees within 10m from the water edge and plenty of free parking available. Can't fault this beach in any way, for us only wish it was closer as it is quite far to get to from Victoria.

I finally had the chance to visit Skybury Cafe & Roastery after two unsuccessful attempts, and I must say, the third time was indeed lucky. Driving 40 km just for their coffee may seem like a stretch, but trust me, it's absolutely worth it. The location is stunning, and the friendly staff make you feel right at home. Their coffee tasting of three varieties adds a special touch to the experience. Despite facing adversity from Cyclone Jasper, the people at Skybury remain resilient and humble, which is truly admirable. It's saddening to hear about the loss of their papaya plantations, but as they say, 'c'est la vie.' I ordered a big coffee and scones, and they were hands down the best I've ever tasted in Cairns. Overall, Skybury Cafe & Roastery offers not just exceptional coffee and food, but also a heartwarming experience that leaves a lasting impression.

The Skybury Cafe & Roastery was on our bucket list since we follow them on social media a while ago! We made it and are happy we drove all the way up to smell & taste the true authentic coffee that is produced there! Our surprise was to find out from our incredible hosts that they also produce other products such as papaya, and skin products made from it, and liquors like Vodka! A Must visit place with family, friends, kids✨We will be back!

Best coffee and amazing papaya.
The view from the restaurant are stunning, food and shakes are tasty and well presented. I highly recommend a visit.
Also the products in the shop are great as gift and souvenirs to gift or take home.

Visitors can explore the savanna scrub and observe giant termite mounds while learning about the region's ecology and wildlife. The center also provides opportunities for birdwatching and guided tours to fully immerse visitors in the wetlands' natural beauty.
Stopped at Hartley's on our way from Port Douglas to Cairns. So glad that the wet weather held off long enough that day for us to enjoy this wonderful park! Loved the crocodile feeding session - very informative and entertaining, and made us admire crocodiles even more. Great exhibits, lots to see, and the kids got to feed wallabies as well. Was an amazing experience getting up close with a koala, baby crocodile, and a python for some great photos! The cruise was fantastic, where we got to see more crocodile feeding. Very well managed park with great staff. Would love to visit again.

An incredible, must try experience to be able to sit so close to a feeding crocodile. The shows are very entertaining and educational with a great bunch of staff with a good sense of humour. The facility is very large and it is easy to spend hours here. Unfortunately I was too late getting food and missed out on the crocodile tasting - get in before lunch. There was plenty to see and do here and is very hard to get bored. Worth the time and money.

I am not a fan of seeing animals but we decided to still give Hartley a chance. It was completely different as what I expected. Everything was great!! Every animal was cute!!!!! And they have different shows at every hour/ two hour, It make sure you won’t get bored. Knowing more about the story behind also enrich your knowledge. At their cafe you can also try the crocodile bite which was very delicious.
It is definitely worth visiting!!!! Highly recommended

What an amazing experience.
The cruise was incredible & was quite special to be in the lagoon, home to 30 crocodiles.
The crocodile attack show was definitely the stand out. The handler was very impressive & I commend the handlers experience, professionalism & showmanship, it was very entertaining.
Credit to Hagrid the crocodile too, he was awesome!
A great day out & definitely a must visit!

This is the place to see the crocodiles and lots more! We stopped here for a few hours before adjourning to Mossman Gorge. The talks were informative and interesting. The boat ride is not to be missed!

I had an absolutely fantastic time at Hartley's Crocodile Adventure! The highlight of my visit was undoubtedly the mesmerizing crocodile show. To make the experience even more memorable, my friends and I opted for the Breakfast with Koala package, which turned out to be an excellent choice. The package included a delightful breakfast in the morning, and we were thrilled to have the opportunity to not only pat but also take photos with the adorable koalas. The entire experience was truly enchanting, and I wholeheartedly recommend Hartley's Crocodile Adventure to anyone seeking a thrilling and interactive wildlife encounter.

We really enjoyed our day (6 hours) here. There are a lot of things to do and see and it was definitely worth it. The boat tour was pretty disappointing, but other than that everything was great. If you are in the area and have an extra day for something crocodile and animal related, you should stop by.

Fabulous day out seeing and learning all about crocodiles, koalas, cassowaries and other Australian wildlife.
We started off at 9am where able to feed the cassowaries which was a lot of fun
Take your kids to experience what being around crocodiles and other reptiles is like and learning on what to do around wild crocodiles.
The staff are very keen to impart knowledge and you get the impression they really like their jobs.
Excellent fun for a cheap price, staff were very friendly and you could tell they love to be there. Overall great experience.
If you buy a ticket on the day (family pass $112) you can use it for 3 days and there is enough to do here for a few trips.

A Cairns must-see attraction! It was great to see all of the wildlife and learn more about these beautiful creatures. Each team member we spoke to across the whole park was knowledgeable and friendly. We arrived right at 8:30am and was allocated the first boat trip at 9:30am. There’s three boats at once, so stand together with your group if you want to get on the same boat. You can also try ethically farmed crocodile at the cafe

Only $43 bucks for an adult! Can't believe the value. The croc feeding and show was great.
They had some big boys in there!
They also had a variety of other cutters on site, as well.
The staff were friendly, very funny and provided great information on all of their animals.
There's also a restaurant and cafe on site.
It was a much better establishment than expected. I highly recommend visiting 😊 kids will love it.

Such a great day out for the family, and what a lot to see, learn and experience.
We saw well over 50 crocs over our visit and so many other animals and birds.
The boat ride was also really cool. The staff are full of knowledge and very friendly.

We are locals who have been meaning to visit this popular tourist attraction for ages. So glad we did and can understand why people always say great things about it!! We thought it was tremendous value for money with the shows and also the boat ride. Food options were really good as well and staff all super engaged and friendly. Highly recommend and will definitely be telling our southern visitors to put it on their list!!

Visited Hartley's with family and had a great time. Plenty to do throughout the day both in the morning and afternoon as live talks happen pretty much every hour. Really interactive experience with the animals even getting the chance to get up close with animals like the kangaroo, koala and a few others. The food is pretty decent as well so if you're there most of the day there's plenty to choose from. Highly recommend this place for anyone in the area or even staying in Cairns for a few days. Tickets are reasonably priced and well worth it.

Wonderful day out for the family. Even post flood recovery, the park was amazing. The staff is very informative and knowledgeable.
Really enjoyed the croc feeding show with the salt water Crocs. Knowledgeable and experienced staff made of a wonderful show even with the flooded presentation area.
Very few animals are not seen in the enclosures. Which is great, even with the natural habitat exhibits.
Great day out with the family. Will be back again for sure.

Bargain entrance fee of $45 per adult ticket. This includes 3 consecutive days entry and a lagoon boat trip. There's a restaurant and cafe with a gift store close to the entrance/exit. Upon entry, the ticket office will give a map detailing the events of the next few hours so you can plan your visit.
I loved the ample shade provided by the trees everywhere. There were plenty of pathways to follow and things to see. I opted to leave after a few hours later and come again the next morning refreshed.
The next day, another boat trip on the lagoon. Unexpected and a pleasant surprise. 30 crocodiles in the man made lagoon in a sturdy protected boat was a highlight of our visit. Safe for children and adults alike .

So much better than I expected!! They have very informative and fun shows almost every hour so before I knew it, it was closing time! Highly recommended and I think the price is a bargain as there is also a 20 minute boat ride included.

Thanks so much to the Hartley crew for a fantastic day out on the lagoon. Although it was torrential rain, the sprits were high and we left feeling very satisfied with our visit. A great day out for anyone in Cairns area and looking to see something new and exciting! The crocodile show was run by a great speaker too, so don’t miss that:)

Loved visiting Hartleys crocodile adventures. I was unfortunately very strapped for time so I didn't get to spend as much time as I would have liked exploring the park. But from the time I did spend here, it was a blast. So much fun and so many awesome animals. I was also able to hold Tangles, the black headed python which was an absolute amazing experience! The staff were also so lovely and helpful and funny. Would love to come back for a longer visit the next time I'm in Cairns
Four Mile Beach is a vast expanse of picturesque coastline, adorned with a broad and pristine white sand beach and surrounded by lush rainforests. The beach is fringed with lazy palms, creating an idyllic atmosphere. There is a designated swimming area in front of the surf life-saving club, complete with sun loungers for hire. Although not boasting the stereotypical golden sand and crystal blue water that many expect, Four Mile Beach still offers an excellent opportunity for strolling in the sun.
Absolutely loved the views out over 4 Mile Beach from Trinity Beach Lookout. Such a lovely beach to stroll along and a great netted off area to swim with lifeguards on patrol.
Kim Ogden — Google review
Really nice beach to have a wander down. It's not the perfect golden sand and crystal blue water that looks so picturesque...but, it's still a really nice place for a stroll in the sun. We were warned not to swim due to the salt water crocodiles! There is a controlled swimming area closer to the town though and you can walk all the way down there, from the resorts further down.
Chris Allen — Google review
This beach can be magnificent or disappointing. On a clear day, when the water is cool and calm and the tide is out, you can stroll the full four miles and marvel at its splendour. Near the main centre of town is where you will find the patrolled area. They have also built a ramp down to the sand and laid a blue and white soft track which I imagine would make it easier getting prams or wheelchairs onto the beach #oneaccessibility. You can hire deck chairs, umbrellas and inflatables to play in the water. Great spot for kids as the water is usually calm and clear but, unless you hire an umbrella, there is very little shade. Be aware that between November and May it is stinger season. This applies not only to box jellyfish, but the smaller yet still poisonous irukandji jellyfish. If you swim during these times I would strongly suggest wearing a full body lycra suit which you can purchase in Port Douglas from shops such as Rip Curl.
Justine Edward — Google review
Beautiful beach. We went swimming in between the nets, the water was super beautiful and WARM. Unfortunately they had the net in the area of water that had a lot of sea weed in it and they were all over and so so so gross to touch. We took the drone up and noticed that was the ONLY area of the beach with seaweed in it, why wouldn't they move the nets? So weird but we had fun!
Dangers: Saltwater crocodiles, marine stingers, touching a sea-plant with your body.
Michell Tateoka — Google review
One of the most amazing beaches I've ever been to. Depending on the tide, you can walk out 100m+ into the ocean.
Just keep an eye out for Crocs! (Not a joke!)
Matthew Yong-O'Gorman — Google review
Amazing beach to wander along at low tide and walk on the sand bars and explore and find star fish and other small critters and shells
Russell King — Google review
Lovely beach, great walk, can get a bit windy but still enjoyable
Nate — Google review
Nice beach. No surf due to Barrier Reef. Good for walking, but be careful. If fishing, please don't leave dead fish or fish guts around.
Swim at your own risk due to Araki jellyfish and salt water crocs. These crocs may lurk near the water's edge at times. During the tourist season, there may be a safe swimming netted area; haven't been able to confirm.
Be careful, and don't get sunburnt!

I'll never travel to Cook Shire without this trip planner again
This wildlife refuge features a range of Australian animals in their natural habitats. You can feed kangaroos, hold a koala, swim with saltwater crocodiles and more. It's an excellent destination for animal lovers on holiday in Port Douglas.
What a fantastic place, after all the years coming up here I had never been until this trip. Great value if you are staying for a week with kids, as your ticket is valid for 5 days! The variety of birds and wildlife is amazing! It felt very interactive with all of the animals and there was quite a lot to see. Highly recommend for families. Remember to take water, as it is very hot in there.
Adele Michael — Google review
A great place with a lot of different animals.
A great design where you feel you are really close to the animals.
You experience the place on many levels with the towers and the bird view path.
A very close encounter with the kangaroos and emus.
Very nice experience especially in the afternoon with few visitors.
The signs for accessibility are not very clear. Therefore, we had to come back all the way around because the elderly who was with us couldn't come down on the other side of the nocturnal space.
Overall, friendly staff and a great place to visit in Port Douglas.

Wildlife Habitat is a must visit! Lots of animals to see and talks to go to. Definitely recommend Swimming with the Salties!! A once in a lifetime experience to see a croc so close - even inside it’s mouth!! Something I’ll remember forever. 5 day entry pass means nothing is missed out on! Staff are super lovely - must be a great place to work!

A fantastic place with a great variety of wildlife and awesome experiences (check to see whether all still running - most of them seem to be). The crocodiles are incredible and awesome. $2 for a bag of kangaroo feed, but the Roos were either too hot, too full or too tired, so they didn't have much appetite, although I guess it depends on which one you choose. A Cafe on site, ample parking and easy location. You get a voucher to go back to the park within five days of initial entry - terrific!

Wow an absolutely wonderful experience. Highly recommend having Breakfast with the Birds. Being able to have to birds sit on you its an experience within itself. Being able to also get within a metre of awwing the beautiful koala's. Wishing I could of swam with the Salties but I didn't book in time

A fun and very interactive place to go if you are into wildlife! Unlike some other zoos, you are walking right through the middle of the exhibits. You can feed the kangaroo, hold a koala and watch a live crocodile show. Great for all ages. Our kids come here every time they come to Port Douglas.

Simply the best wildlife/zoo we've ever visited. Super clean enclosures, all animals super gentle and this is an immersive facility so you are walking through the massive animal enclosure, we had birds sit on our shoulders, fed and patted kangaroos, up close to everything you want to photograph.

Breakfast with the Birds...what can I say! 10/10 experience. I bought the tickets as a surprise for my girlfriend, and we both loved it. You get 15 minutes to explore the entry exhibits before starting breakfast with birds and koalas around you. Regarding the breakfast, clearly they've read previous criticism of not enough quantity as there was plenty...scrambled eggs, bacon, sausages, crepes, beans, fruit, and a muffin. Plus a range of drinks :) it was delicious. During the breakfast staff went around to the different tables and introduced us to some of their birds, allowing us to hold them with our arms, or have them perch on our shoulders, and take photos. They also gave us information about the birds. Afterwards we got to go and see the koalas up-front, and as part of the package got 20% off the photos with the koala so we have those as a little memory of our visit! The rest of the exhibits are fantastic, with lots to see - wallabies, roos, crocodiles, koalas, birds, cassowaries...all wonderful. Will probably head back tomorrow for a little more!

Really pleased with this locally run wild life park. The croc feeding was the reason we went, but we were pleasantly surprised by the other locals! The kangaroo feeding was my highlight of the day. Worth the visit when in Port Douglas

Its a beautiful sanctuary located over 8 acres with various animals and birds. Though some parts of it was closed it was still magnificent. I would have appreciated if there were more tours and introductions but I understand that it was busy or bustling with tourists when I went. I was able to feed kangroos and wallabies. I got two birds to sit on me. Wonderful experience. Would recommend again.

Honestly the best zoo/sanctuary I've been to. Didn't really have any interest in going here, but saw they had a nocturnal animals tour so decided to book it just for fun. Tour was amazing and decided we had to come back again the next morning to see the rest of the animals. Lovely and very knowledgeable people, a huge range of native Australian animals and a stunning zoo overall. Enclosures are huge with tons of room for animals to move around and keep entertained. An underrated treasure for anybody visiting Port Douglas!

Fantastic wildlife park really close to Port Douglas town centre. Easy parking, and easy to navigate. Lots of wildlife, although a lot like most major zoos. Still, awesome to see the crocs in a more natural habitat than just behind plexiglass. Some great experiences, like swimming with the salt-water croc, but not sure it's on at the moment, if visitor numbers down (?). A great place, nonetheless!

The weekly Port Douglas Markets are a popular destination for locals and tourists to browse through a variety of locally-made goods. Held on the grassy Market Park every Sunday from 8am-2pm, there is always something interesting to see and purchase.
We found out just by chance where and when the markets are on, so we had to see it. Such markets always reflect the soul of the people, living in this area. We met very crafty people and found some items we just had to buy. Yes we recommend, came and be a sticky peak and you may find something that interests you.

Lots of variety, much of it useful in daily life.
Nice snacks, treats, drinks, clothes, hats, jewellery, etc … usual fare, but with a relaxing atmosphere.
Most of the walking is under the shade of the huge trees in the park. Decent sized markets.
And just behind the park, the beautiful tropical waters of the Coral Sea.

Great market to visit in Winter. Get there early as it gets busy.
Opens at 8am on a Sunday. Not too much woo at the market which is refreshing, though I did see this classic shower head with crystals stuck to it.
There were a lot of original items that look to be genuinely homemade.

The Port Douglas market as you could imagine was very busy and finding parking was a challenge. The market itself though was much like many markets a place for old hippies to go and sell their tye dye goods, candles and scented oils etc. However the one positive where the views from the park behind and you don't need the market for that. Visit the park for the views and if the market is operating then check it out, but don't make the market your reason. Especially if travelling from other places.

Cute local markets with many handmade and unique products, drinks and fresh produce. Great for souvenirs and little Xmas stocking filler. We stopped over at this shop and purchased some great quality wooden spoon. The spoon are handmade with different type of timber. They look and feel solid. Great for a friend who loves a cooking gadgets. If you have a friend loves flowers, I think their minimalistic flower bases is the way to go. I have seen display and they are to die for. This is a small church located on the beach near the docks in Port Douglas.
There is little religious overtones, there is only a statue of Mary, and you can see the sea from the front window. Perfect for couples who love the ocean and are divers.
It can also be used as a civil marriage (a method in which a marriage certificate is issued by the Australian state government, and both are OK even if you are a Japanese resident in Japan). By the way, if you submit this English certificate along with a translation (you can make your own) and submit your marriage registration at a Japanese government office later, the wedding date will become the registration date (this does not apply in the case of a Christian ceremony, and you will need to submit your marriage registration) day is the enrollment date). On the family register, it will be written as Australian method. This certificate must be submitted in its original form; once submitted, it will not be returned.
If you want to have your wedding here, your best bet is to hire a company called Port Douglas Weddings. Although it is possible to make reservations through other companies, it seems that you can get priority reservations if you make a direct request to the company that operates this church.
You can choose from packages that include photos and videos. You can also choose the vows and the song to be played during the ceremony (perhaps Olga's live performance or a CD).
In order to protect the ecosystem, a flower shower will be used instead of a rice shower (rice grains are sprinkled on the bride and groom after the ceremony).
If you get married around noon and have a late lunch party at a nearby restaurant, it will be easier than having it at a Japanese wedding hall (excluding the burden of travel and accommodation costs for the attendees).
You can request a Japanese interpreter on the day of the wedding, but in the case of a civil marriage, there will be a meeting with a celebrant (qualified celebrant) in advance, and the bride and groom must have at least a minimum level of English proficiency.
Before the ceremony, you can arrange a limousine from your place of stay, but only the bride, her father, and bridesmaids can ride in it.
Please note that the groom cannot ride with you. Go to the church first and wait inside the building for the bride to arrive.

We visited in the warmer, hot and steamy months at Cape Tribulation and the icecream was a welcome addition to our self drive journey. Floraville has many flavors on offer. Worth a stop in and a visit and a wee chat and a walk in the gardens!

Life doesn’t get much better than enjoying some delicious organic ice cream in a serene garden surrounded by the rainforest. Highly recommend the Daintree flavour! Love how all the ice cream is prepackaged so there is no wait.

Avoid at all costs!
Partner and I got black sapote and dragonfruit flavours. We agreed they both tasted the same - like eating a tub of frozen pouring cream. We thought this may be due to the flavours being quite delicate, however, the other bad reviews stated they had the same problem with dominant flavours like chocolate and mango.…
Go to Daintree Ice Cream Company instead, and enjoy some ice cream that actually tastes like the flavour you order.

Come here if you want to try some unusual flavour. The ice cream isn’t too sweet which is good, but it isn’t smooth due to the ice flakes in the inside. I’m unsure why, maybe it was made in a more traditional way than modern smooth ice cream. The flavour was alright.
We tried the yellow and brown sapote, it was unique. They’ve also got beautiful garden with loads of seat to sit in.

This is one of 2 ice cream factories in the area. Worth a visit in the morning if you are driving to Cape Trib in the morning as Daintree Ice Cream factory is not open till 12 noon. Visit Daintree Ice Cream factory in the afternoon on the way back from Cape Trib. Go to both and support local businesses.

Good ice cream but I have to say it hit second place in our very unscientific review of Daintree ice cream. I had the honey which was good but the local fruits my wife and daughter had were very good. Ambience and garden were very nice
Steve Hartig — Google review
Went in June 2022. The icecream is better at Daintree, but if there are specific flavours you want to try that aren't on there, then try here.
The older lady that served us had no interest in smiling or chatting.
Tiny individual plastic tubs may not be the best either.

A little gem. A local business with local produce. Icecream was lovely and we will sample the Daintree tea we purchased soon. Great find in the forest.😄

Ice cream was very Icey and rather tasteless. Was not a good choice of place to purchase Ice cream. My three star rating is actually over rating the product received. Ice Cream tastes like it has been partially thawed and re frozen. Would definitely try Ice Cream Factory further up the Highway as their Ice Cream was really nice.

Flavours may not be for everyone but I certainly enjoyed mine. The place is looking a little tired now, I see it’s for sale and with more investment this place will be a great attraction in the coming years

Run by a sweet elderly lady. A few unique flavours to choose from. Every ingredient making the flavours are from the rainforest. Highly recommend the signature Daintree Rainforest flavour, was very unique!

A nice little local family run home made ice cream business, we had a couple of ice creams and loved them.
dom coleman — Google review
We loved the two flavors we got, so unique. Yellow sapote and Daintree forest. There was a description for what the flavor is similar to and we thought it was pretty accurate. It's a great stop on the way to Cape Tribulation, and a beautiful garden as well.
Jackie Erat — Google review
We visited this ice creamery mid January, seems very quiet as we're the only customers there. I mean you can't get any better than a tropical ice cream in the middle of a rainforest. The flavours are very unique, yellow sapote was my favourite out of the three. Definitely worth a visit whilst in the Daintree.
Kim Nguy — Google review
Great and very delicious homemade organic and biodynamic icecream. Beautiful garden with many different species of flowers and plants.
Frank Andersen — Google review
This ice cream paradise shouldn't be overlooked once in area, so many options to choose from, sold in small cups for your convenience, plenty of seating to enjoy the rainforest atmosphere.
Milos Masar — Google review
The ice cream was seriously not good. It felt like I was eating frozen butter with lots of ice in the bottom! The old lady serving was really not friendly and just here to get your money. Finally the plastic pots. Come on we are in 2023 in a rainforest. Let's try to get some paper cups or something like that. I would definitely not go back there and would not recommend it.
You better off going to the other ice cream shop. 5 min drive north. They are nice people. The ice cream is good and you can walk around the orchards.

Amazing tour in the Daintree Rainforest, we did the 4hour tour and would highly recommend. Felt we were given a real insight into the rainforest and its natural systems that keep it alive. Saw amazing wildlife, plants and trees. It was great to feel like properly experiencing this landscape.

Such a great find. This is a wonderful experience. Small group with Neil who was very knowledgeable on all aspects of the ancient rainforest. 4.5 hours of amazing forest.
Lindy Hollis — Google review
An amazing and informative walk through the forest that everyone should go on!
Neil is incredibly knowledgeable about the rainforest; all it’s plants, fungi and animals as well as the human impact upon it. The walk was easy enough that most could do it and due to frequent stops for explanations about various things, it didn’t feel tiring.
We were lucky enough to see a python and a cassowary with 2 juveniles as well as all the amazing plants too, which was a real treat.
Everyone visiting the area should go along to learn more about this incredible forest and how important it is to preserve and protect.
Holly Owens — Google review
A true gem of the Daintree.
Anyone with an interest in gaining a deeper knowledge of this special place should include this tour. Options of either 2 or 4 hours. We did the 2 hour and will definitely return to do the 4 hour one.
Angie was incredibly informative and her passion, love and understanding of this area really shine through. You're in with a chance of spotting one of the six cassowaries who roam the area, but even if you don't spot one, the sheer brilliance of the other animals and plants will bowl you over anyway.
Couldn't recommend this enough

A must do! An incredible wealth of knowledge! We feel blessed to have been able to partake in this educational wilderness adventure! Our family loved every minute! The insights profoundly moving! Makes you appropriate the wonders of this ancient eco system for its unique and awesome world that it is!

An Amazing experience! A must-do for anyone who wants to learn more about the Daintree. Neil has a great way with words and is extremely knowledgeable. We came back from the 4-hour walk, having learnt about all the connections between all the living things in the rainforest. I had plenty of wow moments as Neil told us about this world heritage site—a very comfortable and easy bush walk.

Took the 2 hour walk. They know a lot about the plants and the Forrest but we were expecting a bit more for 80 dollars per person. We did a night Walk the day before and saw a lot more wildlife and the information was the same.
Robin Boerhof — Google review
Cooper Creek was an incredible area to explore in Daintree Forest. We swam in the fresh water, saw fish, bats, various frogs and insects and the vegetation was breathtaking!
Joanne Bottcher — Google review
This tour left the two of us feeling immensely privileged to have shared in some of Neil's "treasury of memories".
A guided walk through an ancient area - the world's oldest rainforest! - that few people would have the opportunity to explore in such an intimate way.
Whether it was learning about the importance and role of cyclones on the health of the rainforest or how humans have both caused great trauma to the environment but have this same power to restore, recalibrate and save this irreplaceable ecosystem, it is an fascinating, reflective, and enlightening tour.
Think Dr Karl meets David Attenborough ... be it his astounding recall of knowledge or ability to locate coin sized spiders that have camouflaged themselves as bird droppings, Neil makes this experience extraordinary.
We appreciated his deep connection to country and that his walk was informed by his engagement with Traditional Owners, the original custodians of the land we were so fortunate to be immersed in for five very special hours.
Grace Roberts — Google review
Fantastic experience. I learnt so much on our 4 hour walk, Neil was so knowledgeable, passionate, and friendly. I often find it hard to listen and focus when on these sorts of things, but I was so captivated I found it easy to follow along.
Wish I could have spent more time there learning even more, if we are ever in the area again we would definitely do it again!
Grace Withnall — Google review
What an experience to be shown this great ancient rain forest one of the oldest in the world by a man who’s passion for the forest shines bright through Neil!
His knowledge of the forest is very high and his passion regards to maintaining it for many more generations is something to be inspired about and his love for the indigenous local tribes and there right to their lands.
His story telling with teaching of the rain forest will keep your mind going and going opening up a world of possibilities and wonder.
I highly recommend the 4 hr tour but if you feel that might be tough they also do a 2 hour tour..
So as we started the tour we came across Mother Nature at her best.
Gregory Clarke — Google review
11/10. Worth every cent and more. Neil is a insightful & passionate tour guide - I came out seeing the rainforest in a completely new light. We felt very fortunate to have a custodian of this special landscape share his knowledge with us.

Wow! We took a 2-hour walk with Neil and were blown away by his depth of knowledge and the thoughtful way he imparts it. Highlight of our time in the Daintree! Neil is an incredible guide, I could listen to him talk all day. We chose the 2 hour tour thinking that was a long time, but next time I would do the 4 hour without a doubt (the time flew by!).
This tour really takes experiencing the Daintree to the next level, and I would recommend it to everyone visiting this area who wants a true rainforest experience. Thank you Neil, you are an incredible and inspiring person and doing amazing work caring for your world heritage area.

The Daintree Village Hotel and General Store is a charming establishment located in far north Queensland, named after the renowned geologist and photographer Richard Daintree. Originally settled by timber-cutters in the 1870s, it has evolved into a small community surrounded by stunning scenery. The Cow Bay offers a classic Aussie pub experience with delicious meals and a laid-back atmosphere. Despite its sleepy town vibe, visitors can enjoy great food at good prices while taking in live music and the beautiful surroundings.
My boyfriend is celiac and we could eat a really good gluten free crispy fish and chips. The atmosphere of the place was really great with country live music. We strongly recommend this place!

Had a really good experience, this was our first time visiting and thought we would try the steak burger.
We had live music going with the rain outside so the atmosphere was great.
The food was prepared quickly, I’m not fan of the table buzzers but understand why some establishments use them.
The burgers tasted really good, fresh and the beef was super tender and flavoured.
Thanks for the good experience guys, loved it.

I've holidayed in FNQ for some time ate in Port Douglas. In the crowded superficial pubs cafes and restaurantsThe staff work their butt's off for a not much more than a smile. Cued and cajoled for steak and chips seafood baskets mussels and prawns. Then someone mentioned daintree. Not the forest. The pub / general store. Forget the five star. White tabled dinner service. Expect nothing less than honest holessome pub grub that tastes great with a loving touch. Cold beer. Parmi and a pot for 17 bucks. T bones barra hamburgers. Book a table spend your 100 here and support the locals. Dont winge or complain. Remember where you are. YOUR ON HOLIDAYS. JUST ENJOY.

Just to be somewhere different... cold beer and good pub food. The burger was huge and very tasty, I couldn't finish it. Staff are lovely and friendly, had time for a chat when they're not busy. Saturday night steak night is looking like needing me to come back. OK then. I will.

My meal here was a highlight of our 5 day trip to Port Douglas. We just popped in for an ice-cream and I decided to try the Croc Skewers!! These were amazing!! Staff were friendly. What a lovely little village. We will be back for a visit again!

The food here is amazing! We ended up eating here twice and both times they smashed it for 6. There are a few cafes and restaurants up here that get by with doing the bare minimum and over-charging for the privilege because they think there isn't much choice. Well there is, and your only choice should be this joint. Outstanding.

Such a damn good meal!
After a day exploring the area we ended up in the Daintree Village, and in need of lunch we went where everyone else was.
The hotel is spacious, clean and busy!
The number of people here when we arrived was a good sign.
We took a seat outside and shortly after, our food arrived, for the number of people here our food was ready very quickly.
The beef burger was cooked wonderfully and the overall burger was great. The sides and kids meals we ordered were just as delicious.
Just a great hotel in North Queensland.

This is a friendly little pub and the only place to get a meal after dark in Daintree Village. We had lunch there once and dinner twice and it was generally awesome! You may read the service is slow but this is a sleepy town with few people (40 to be precise)... if you arrive when a bus load of people do, be patient... why hurry? We chilled, watched people, ate great food at good prices (loved the Parma and pot night) and watched the night fade to black! This place is fantastic... just don’t expect what a sleepy town cannot provide!

Delicious food and big variety to choose from. Big portions and good prices. The croc skewer was mind blowing since we got there right after our croc spotting river cruise. Also had some short rib, which was lovely and very juicy!!

What a great find this was on our visit to the Daintree. We shared a chicken burger and sweet potato fries - the chicken was cooked to perfection, a big thick crumbed breast with salad and pickles. And the fries crisp with a yummy sauce. So good! Topped off with Matso’s ginger beer on tap. Friendly service made it a lunch to remember. Highly recommend

Great pub spot, worth the drive. The lady that served us was really lovely and the food was excellent.
The Barramundi Burgers were delicious, the batter on the fish was excellent. The fried onion rings lovely and light (a huge serve for $8), and the pepperoni pizza was also very good. Nice to have all freshly cooked food and served with a smile.
Everything you would expect and more from a small hotel. Definitely recommend!
The Dubuji Boardwalk is a 1.2-kilometer trail that takes you through rainforest and mangrove swamps, passing by spring-fed creeks. There are information panels along the path which provide historical background on mangroves formation and introduce the various wildlife you might encounter. The boardwalk leads to Myall Beach, where a straight track will take you back to the car park.
Beautiful and easy broad walk in the forest. Magnificent fan palms that are signature here. The walk leads to Myall beach too but nothing much here. You cant swim here due to crocodile. Have warning sign so be aware. Can skip the beach if no time.
Total return trip is around an hour for us.
The area also have toilet facility and picnic area. Quite spacious and very chill!
Trang Nguyen — Google review
Boardwalk track was fantastic. Make sure you don't walk with other groups of people and be a squire as you can so you can see some wildlife. We saw a couple of goannas, smaller lizards, yellow belly snake, and lots of different birds. Only downside would have been there are not spots to just sit and watch.

What a wonderful walk this is from the Daintree forest down to the ocean. So easy to get to really enjoyable for the family we stayed in picnicked and had a great time. It had all the amenities there and we went back couple of times

These boardwalks in the area are wonderful and this one was our favorite. Well maintained, and great for those with limited mobility. We saw birds, a snake, a large lizard and more. And view of the beach too.

Easy walk along the boardwalk. Time depends on how much you linger ... 30-60 mins. Lots to see ... mostly mangrove but really interesting. Good information boards along the way. Some awsome trees and plants ... especially the tree ferns. Saw crabs, fish, wompoo fruit-dove, other birds and a couple of pademelon.

Highly recommend to do this walk while you are here. I saw amazing Fan Palm trees throughout and the forests are ancient and beautiful. Saw some butterflies and colorful birds too.

Very relaxing and enjoyable loop boardwalk through the Daintree Rainforest at Cape Tribulation. Plenty of car parking and on-site toilets. Can also walk down to Myall beach via the boardwalk or directly from the car park. A highlight of our visit to the area.
Michael Case — Google review
Really nice boardwalk. It leads to Myers (or something) beach which was nice. You can't go swimming because of crocodiles but it was still nice to walk along. You can take a short walk to the beach, or the long way, and then go the short way back if you like. Was beautiful to stop and look at the amazing trees and plants. We saw some bush fowls too and they were cute. Would definitely recommend!
Jessica Flavel — Google review
The frond plants here are otherworldly! These plants must have provided inspiration for science fiction movies such as Avatar. This boardwalk is a bit longer than Madja and Kulki but still an easy 30 minutes walk while taking lots of photos! We encountered very loud bats on the way out as well.
Zeph — Google review
Best short hike in the Daintree
If you only have the time, or energy for one walk, this is the one to pick.
It's very close to Cape Tribulation, and is an easy, flat looped walk from a large car park, which also has toilets and picnic tables.
You can cut the walk in half with an escape loop, or do the full circuit, and also take a short diversion down to Myall Beach.
The scenery is superb with sensational palm trees and lovely patches of rainforest.
A must do on any visit to the Daintree.
Stephen Spencer — Google review
Fascinating boardwalk through coastal rainforest. All on a boardwalk, easy and safe. Plenty of wildlife if your quiet and not hurried.
ken atkins — Google review
I liked this boardwalk better than Madja mainly because it was longer, it was well lit (as opposed to being covered entirely by trees so it looks darker), and most importantly more wildlife. I did this walk twice today! The morning walk I got to see feral pigs, as well as lots of fowls and other smaller birds. There were interesting looking spiders too. My afternoon walk was the better one. Got to see a cassowary! It was actually on the boardwalk! This boardwalk is also next to the Myall Beach where there is a giant croc there too! Highly recommend this walk!

When does a responsible parent decide it's acceptable to enroll their motion-sick children in a 25-minute exhilarating adventure on a 12-meter high-speed inflatable boat? Perhaps when they are enticed by the opportunity to snorkel at the pristine Mackay and Undine Reefs of the magnificent Great Barrier Reef. The Ocean Safari, a half-day expedition departing from Cape Tribulation on the Daintree Coast, guarantees an abundance of thrilling snorkeling experiences amidst vibrant coral formations.
Went on the tour with Feddi and Oscar out from Cape Tribulation. They were both great and so was the tour. The morning tour gets you 2 hours snorkelling on the reef, which was the perfect amount of time. We saw about 3 green sea turtles and plenty of giant clams. The tour has two stops, the second is on a sand cay, where you can relax for a bit or continue to snorkel. Some food and drinks are available on the boat (alcoholic too) and you can grab lunch back at the Turtle Rock Cafe. Highly recommend.

We did the half day tour today and it was absolutely amazing!!! Five stars without a question. Great location on Cape Tribulation. Friendly staff at the cafe/ reception. Good service before the tour (they gave us wet suits and sunscreen). Competent and friendly staff on the boat (Federico was great). They take safety of passengers very seriously. Pool noodles and life jackets available on the boat. We visited Mackay Reef and it was just perfect!! Two spots for snorkelling. Drinks available on the boat. They took pictures for us. I would definitely recommend it for everyone. (Visited Oct 22)

Truly a company with integrity. Cole and his team made it possible for our group of four to have the adventure of a lifetime when we thought it would be canceled. Cole and Eve personally took us and others out to the Great Barrier Reef from Cape Tribulation in October for a wonderful experience. We saw beautiful coral, hundreds of fish, and even turtles. I would highly recommend this tour. Thank you so much!!!

We loved this reef tour so much that we came back the next day and did it again! Fede and Oscar were fantastic tour guides, plenty of banter and good jokes. We did it with our 4 and 7 year old (their first time snorkelling!) and they were very helpful and accommodating, making sure they were comfortable. We saw turtles, stingray, painted crayfish, as well as all the other beautiful marine life that is the Great Barrier Reef.
We would definitely recommend Ocean Safari- cold beers and gin to enjoy on the sand quay to top off an amazing trip. Thanks again guys

We had the best morning snorkelling with Eliza and Brooke! Super friendly and happy ladies that were really knowledgeable about the reef. The coral was some of the best we have seen on the GBR and we’re so happy with the sea life we managed to see - White Spotted Eagle Ray, Epaulette Shark, Turtles, Giant Clams, Clown Fish and loads of different species of reef fish! Would definitely recommend this trip, well worth the money!

Wow! Fantastic half day snorkeling tour! We loved the half hour fast bumpy boat ride, out to the great barrier reef. Just 18 of us on board. After an hour of snorkeling from the boat, we then loved being dropped off on our own desert island for an hour! Here we could snorkel from the beautiful sandy island, or just sit and relax at the waters edge, with the warm crystal clear water splashing over our feet.
Fantastic trip!

We were a little reluctant to go all the way up into the Daintree in order to see the Great Barrier Reef when you could see it from other towns... But it was more than worth it! We had the most incredible time and 5 stars isn't enough!! It's easily one of the best highlights of our 3 months in Australia and we would absolutely love to do it again! The guides we had (Cole and Dave) were fun and knowledgeable, sharing a tonne of information with us. The professional photos they took on our tour for us were really fairly priced too. The places they took us to on the boat were breathtaking.

I'm not the most confident of swimmers so I was a little apprehensive heading out on the reef, unlike my super confident Aussie husband!
I had nothing to worry about and had an absolute blast! I rocked my noodle for that extra little bit of support, and others had their life jackets whilst the water babies amongst us ventured out by themselves. There was a great focus on safety first which is great.
Cole and Eve taught us all about the reef and her residents, both on the boat and whilst in the water.
We got lots of time snorkelling and exploring the sand island of McCay reef.
Eve and Cole are clearly very passionate about both the reef and the work that they do.
Highly, highly recommended!

Turtle Rock Cafe is a gem of a place. The food was delicious, fresh, and quick to arrive. My husband and son were only able to play 1 game of table tennis before the food arrived. Between us we had burgers, fish tacos and earth salad with grilled fish. Sitting outside surrounded by the lush rainforest, sipping cold beverages, created the perfect holiday vibe.

Fantastic snorkeling, Amazing crew. Only one boat going out with max 25 people which makes it a even better. We saw 3 different types of turtles and a Sting Ray. Colorful corrales and super crear water. If you do one snorkeling on the Great Barrier Reef, do this one. We also stayed two nights with our campervan at their safari lodge. Highly recommended.

We absolutely loved our snorkelling trip with ocean safari in cape tribulation! We were taken to the most beautiful spots and had such an enjoyable time. The short 30min trip out to the reef was super fun and way more enjoyable than on the big boats that leave from cairns and take 1/1&2 to 2hrs to get to the reef. The reef was really beautiful and we saw lots of colour fish and other creatures. But what made the experience the best was our two guides who were not only super helpful and professional but they were so friendly and funny we laughed all day! Highly recommend the snorkelling trip with ocean safari

Embark on an exhilarating adventure in the Daintree Rainforest with Jungle Surfing Canopy Tours. This family-friendly experience offers a unique way to explore the treetops, featuring six zip lines, five tree platforms, and an innovative Human Hamster Wheel cable lift. While it may not be geared towards adrenaline junkies, it provides a safe and enjoyable journey through the lush rainforest. The knowledgeable guides add to the experience with their insights into local flora and history.
More of a family friendly adventure instead of something for an adrenaline seeker. It's all very safe and you get a good view of the tree tops. Went with a buddy that I met on the bus up to Cape Tribulation from Cairns and while it was not very exciting, at least a pleasant way to spend the morning.
We went on the first slot in the morning and I would highly recommend that because it's still nice and cool and the kiddies are all still asleep. Had a good view from a few of the platforms. Facilitators were all very friendly and chatty and helped pass the time. They knew a fair bit about the jungle as well so learnt some interesting trivia facts. I went in Jul 2018.

This was a really enjoyable experience to do in FNQ. The guides were really knowledgeable and really vibed off one another with their stories and energy. They had a lot of information about the fauna and some history of the area which was enjoyable to add to the fun on the flying fox.
My only critique was the gentleman at the front desk was brusque towards my dad unexpectedly at the end of the day when asking to look through photos. It was unnecessary and strange however not really a reflection on the other staff members of overall experience.

Fantastic day in the rainforest zip lining from tree to tree. The staff were very professional and friendly, with safety their no. 1 priority. It's a long drive, but we'll worth it as it's just so beautiful. In fact the drive was nearly as good as the jungle surfing. Only downside is that it was only 6 zip lines trips, more would justify the cost as it's not a cheap family outing.

The guides were fantastic, although it's all over very quickly and a LONG way from Cairns!🤷
We've done a lot of zip lining and ropes courses, the views on this one we're second to none, but the zips are short and going in tandem isn't the best experience.

It was our favourite part of the trip.

If you are in Cape Tribulation, definitely go for a Horse Ride. The tour takes 1,5 - 2 hours and is super relaxing in a beautiful location. Once you are at the beach, the guide will takes pictures of everyone for a great memory to look back. The horses walk slowly and are very well behaved, I always felt safe. Due to insurance reasons, they are not allowed to make the horses run etc, hence it will be a slow ride (just for the experienced riders to know).

Looks like the horse place is about to get a make over, but with what we got was a great experience and a great pace for first timers and to take in everything around you without worry of having to control the horse all the time. Great fun for all ages and sizes.

Was really keen to do this however being an inexperienced rider and being given a slow stubborn horse left me feeling disappointed. While there was an experienced rider with a very obedient horse. I also didn’t appreciate the guide grabbing my leg and forcing it to show me how hard to kick the horse to get it moving! Suffered pain after as I have an old injury and a plate n bolts in ankle have been hiking on this trip over 300km and had to rest up after this. My but was sore after but that’s to be expected. Would I do it again? No! We have horses and not for riding! I don’t believe in beating a horse or whipping it or kicking it to get it to obey. The ride was for beginners however it left me with a bad experience. Prefer camels any day! We rode through rainforest and then down the beach for pics and back again. Another issue was the guide was very informative however could not hear a word he said most of the time including instructions for horse riding. Not my fault the horse was lagging behind and needed constant kicking. I’m sure his talk was great about the bush foods we came across which I might have gotten something out of it if I could hear him!

What a great relaxing afternoon ride from rainforest to Cape Tribulation beach. Gerry was very loving to the horses & informative on flora & fauna throughout the rainforest. Brooke was so helpful taking photos along the ride and also backtracking after the ride in the ATV to find my prescription sunglasses. Thank you again 💓

Loved the experience.
The staff were really made you feel so welcome.
They were knowledgeable and made you feel safe and in control.
The horses are amazing. Please give Bella a kiss for me.
A life experience at an affordable price...

Beauitful mid-morning horse ride. Perfect for beginners, the staff really look after you and are so knowledgeable about the horses and the area.
The only downside was that our group was a bit big, and we were stuck in the middle, so we weren't able to hear the guides' information on the rainforest and beach as we walked through.
This didn't take away from the experience. It was still a nice relaxing stroll through the daintree.

Absolutely magical experience - there is just something wonderful about riding a horse. Plus, horse riding on the beach, with clear blue skies made it even more special. The three guides were friendly, educational and helped take pictures of this special moment. The horses were well trained, followed everyone's instructions and perfect for beginner riders. We rode through the stable property, crossing roads (must have been quite a sight to the people driving cars), forest/mangroves and onto the beach, then back again - lasting 2 hours. Had a great afternoon!

Booked this for my 14year old and husband as I can't ride and they had a wonderful time. Very lucky with the weather and the horses were a dream to ride, very well trained. The guides knowledgable about the area and the horses too. A must and something different to do!

Magical location! I am a beginner rider and was nervous prior to the ride but their was no need. Horses were well trained and we only walked. The team of three staff were so friendly and helpful and even took photos for us at the beach. Made us feel very comfortable. Our family of four all loved the 2 hour ride through the property, across the road, through the rainforest and along the beach at Cape Tribulation. We even road through the water. Great activity to do together and amazing part of the world! Highly recommend!

The horseback ride was great, Brooke and Jerry guided us well and explained a lot about horses, as well as the typical flora of the rainforest. We also got to go to the beach with the horses, which was amazing. Thanks for a great time, we'll be back!

Did the morning beach ride with them and my wife, daughter and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Wandered down several trails and did a short walk along the beach and into the ocean. They did a nice job of teaching us some things about the rain forest. I definitely recommend it if you enjoy trail rides.

This was an absolute highlight on our first trip to Cape Tribulation! The staff is super friendly, easygoing, flexible and understanding.
The horses are super friendly too! Just sometimes not between them but hey, they have feelings too!
The guides go above and beyond to make your ride tick all the boxes you’re expecting and would engage conversation to recommend you places within Cape Trib! Of course we’re coming back!

Love this gorgeous waterfall, plenty of water for a swim although difficult to get to the pool under the falls

Need 4x4 to get here, then a short walk. Waterfall was in full flow. Laying under the falls was an adventure. Great place for a swim.

Hidden gem in the backcountry. Don't be afraid to go there. You will reach your destination in any kind of vehicle, even though you will question yourself multiple times if you are still on the right path. Good bathing experience with a mixture of sun and shadow. Even a swing is there!

Definitely worth visiting.
Very tranquil place. Great for swimming too.

Very good gravel road all the way to the falls. Had no issue getting here in a LWB sprinter. Nice short walk to the falls but it’s pretty steep and slippery up and down. Beautiful pool and waterfall. Had fun on the rope swing
EDIT: After cyclone jasper the plunge pool is now full of silt and you can’t swim in it and the road has been badly damaged and now a 4WD is required

Best falls I've been too. Large safe pool to swim in. Small babbling brooks to sit under. Rope swing for fun

It is most beautiful waterfall in Australia. My feeling is peaceful and freedom. I love this place ❤️

A must do waterfall experience! Great cool swimming spot. Quite a deep pool and can sit under the fall itself.

Beautiful waterfall about 30kms south of Cooktown.. drove there a few years ago and the last couple kms was a 4x4 track, this time the road was smooth and no dramas at all.. was a great waterfall with an awesome swimming hole. Just be careful on the walking track down. Well worth a visit.

A magnificent swimming hole in front of the Falls; however, it can be extremely dangerous in climbing down to the water.
The information centre should not be recommending this place for tourists to go to, without a qualification as to the dangers and the poorly signposted route and limited parking suitable only for 4wd. The actual falls are up the hill above the car park and not below. Muddy, slippery no real track. I was there in June 2023.

One of the best waterfall in Australia!!
Water are not freezing , we enjoyed it a lot !
The road to getting there is 4x4 , so be prepared with the right car

Rough road going in, 4WD definitely required. Wasn't sure if it existed since the signs were all homemade, not the normal touristy signs but worth the journey in and the little trek to the falls itself.

This was a surprising beautiful walk we came across on our travel.
Its a short rocky trail that leads to a beautifully preserved observation deck. Very informative and sacred spot. Lots of information and a great historical reads

Excellent rock art with great descriptions and information and very close to the road. Just a short walk up the hill which is initially quite steep but really only 300m of walking and only 30 min overall.
The entry fee is $30 adults, $15 for 10 to 18 year olds and free for kids under 9.
DJ 238 — Google review
My husband and I came here 15th December doing the self guided tour. It was well worth the entry fee. It was just us there and we were enchanted for lack of a better word. It was calming but eerie at the same time. It definitely felt spiritual.
The walk to the art was a little tough but I’ve had a lot of knee operations and I still managed, but I’d say definitely be prepared as the track is very steep.
Absolutely loved it and I want to come back again to tour with a guide and see the art not available on the self guided tour.

Interesting stop off heading north, rock art quite faded and not that obvious in bright light, track slightly challenging for some.
brett castle — Google review
Well worth the detour, the self-guided price could appear high at first but it is definitely worth paying not only because of the rock art itself but because of the absolute lack of graffitti or any form of instagramer-induced defacing.
We were happy to deposit our 30 AUD per person in the honesty box and highly encourage all other visitors to proceed similarly.
Do not forget to bring sufficient drinking water, a good hat and a hand towel or garden glove, the hand rail gets VERY hot during the daylight hours.

Brilliant display of ancient artworks with good info boards that help interpretation. Great camp at nearby cultural centre who can also arrange tours... no photos as I respect copyright so go see it yourself:-)

This art is ancient, yet in incredibly resilient condition. It feels incredibly spiritual visiting it, and we are lucky to be on a continent with such an ancient artistic tradition.
To all the people complaining about the access fee: maybe reflect on the fact you spent $80,000+ on a Toyota Landcruiser yet won’t spend the same amount as a museum entrance fee to witness some of the oldest art in the world, in-situ. Shame on you.
