The Eymir Lake is a beautiful, clean, and narrow lake surrounded by pine trees on the campus of Middle East Technical University. It is great for relaxing and enjoying nature. You are not allowed to enter the park by your private car, only cars with METU stickers can enter. The lake has happy animals which you can rent a bike to ride around or have a picnic inside. There are also many options for walks around the lake with beautiful views of the surrounding countryside.
So quiet place at night.
You can rent a bike to make a tour around the lack in the morning. There's a restaurant u can order some snacks or food and enjoy eating it with the nice view of the lack.

Ohh how beautiful it is, away from the crowds, you can come with friends, family, or even alone, you can walk, run, ride your bike, which you can borrow there. Beautiful scenery, fresh, clean air.
You'll find animals and birds, and it's definitely worth a visit, especially on a weekend morning.

Eymir Lake offers a picturesque setting for outdoor activities such as picnics, biking, and walking. However, the lack of proper facilities poses safety concerns for visitors. The absence of dedicated bike trails free from car traffic and sidewalks along the lakefront increases the risk of accidents. It's alarming to see various recreational activities like biking, rollerblading, and walking amidst vehicular traffic.
Moreover, the parking lot's basic soil surface without designated parking areas or pavement further exacerbates safety issues. The absence of separate entrances and exits for vehicles increases the potential for collisions between cars and pedestrians. Maintenance of the area is essential to ensure the safety of visitors, including maintaining separate lanes for bikes and cars to prevent accidents.
Improvements such as installing dedicated bike lanes, constructing proper sidewalks, and upgrading the parking facilities are crucial for enhancing the overall experience and safety of visitors to Eymir Lake. Additionally, providing well-maintained rental bikes would enhance accessibility and enjoyment for all visitors.
Restaurant available facing the lake, but bike parking is outside not guarantee the safety ( cause it rent - how will know if someone have bad intention and just taking the bike)
There's toilet but i can't tell the hygiene or cleanliness looking from outside apprentice kinda shabby. This also need to be maintain as public use. There's no nearby mosque or praying area. No sign for maintain the cleanliness of surround lake/park. Also theres alot stray dog, kinda weary seeing all the dogs in group.
Will be great seeing this place taken care of more, so visitor will have great and safe experience. The place is will be very awesome if all the improvement made.

The atmosphere was stunningly beautiful, but I had to take a long walk since there was no vehicle transportation inside. During this walk, instead of breathing in clean air, I encountered unpleasant smells coming from the lake as gusts of wind. Overall, I enjoyed it and would recommend it.
tayfun — Google review
The lake is beautiful by it's nature and clean air. You aren't allowed to enter the park by your private car. Only the cars with METU sticker are allowed to enter. What I think is that they shouldn't be let in either. Then I will give five stars. In the lake there are happy animals. You can rent a bike and ride around the lake. Also you can have a small picnic inside. Another option is taking a walk around that you will enjoy fresh air and the lake view. I recommend those who want to have a breathe and enyoj the nature visiting Eymir Lake.

Perfect for walking or riding a bicycle some nice cafe resturants on the lake side too. 👍

If you are looking for a quite and serene place to escape from city life (Ankara) Eymir lake is the place. It is quite natural, with a lake stretching along. You can rent a bike for 10 to 15 Turkish liras per hour. You can also dine in the forest on your own or from the restaurants there. It is very safe place, a lot of people and families with their kids hung-out there.

This historic site is so well maintained and when you walk the ground you can feel the history and soaking in. Heard from the tour guide that the mats were not exhibit previously. So was lucky to see the marvelous artisan work on the mats.

I love to travel and have always been attracted by the local cultures and histories. During a recent trip to Turkey, I had the good fortune to come across the charming Sultanhan Kervansaray, a caravanserai that has been preserved and is situated in the Aksaray Province. I felt obligated to share my experience in this thorough assessment with other tourists and history buffs.
When I first arrived at Sultanhan Kervansaray, the splendour of the building grabbed me. This caravanserai was constructed in the 13th century under the rule of the Seljuk Sultan Alaeddin Keykubad I and served as a significant resting and trade location along the Silk Road. The exquisitely carved entrance portal, which is embellished with delicate geometric and floral motifs, is proof of the Seljuk craftsmen's superior skill.
When I entered the courtyard, I was taken back in time to a time when tired travellers and traders sought sanctuary behind the caravanserai's sturdy walls. Arcades that originally used as stables, storage spaces and sleeping quarters border the large courtyard. The peaceful ambiance is enhanced by a modest mosque that is perched on a platform in the middle of the courtyard.
Exploring the huge covered hall, or iwan, where travellers met to network and conduct business, was one of the pleasures of my trip. The hall has a number of enormous columns and arches that give the room a breath-taking sense of expanse. Further complementing the experience is the hall's almost supernatural feel created by the interaction of light and shadow.
The site was in good shape the entire time I was there, the product of careful restoration efforts. Around the caravanserai, educational plaques offer helpful historical context that enhances visitors' understanding of the value of this old structure.
Sultanhan Kervansaray, in addition to its historical appeal, provides contemporary conveniences including a small museum, a nice café, and clean facilities. My questions were gladly answered, and the helpful staff was pleased to share intriguing anecdotes about the history of the caravanserai.
To sum up, Sultanhan Kervansaray is a must-visit location for everyone interested in learning more about Turkey's extensive history and soaking up the atmosphere of the old Silk Road. An extraordinary experience may be had at this caravanserai thanks to its outstanding architecture, well-preserved ruins, and historical ambience. I wholeheartedly advise making time to thoroughly explore this hidden gem, take in its ambience, and make lifelong memories.
Alessio Astolfi — Google review
I'm not exactly a history geek, but this caravanserai is said to be the first one, and it's located on the Silk Route, which of course makes it worth visiting. Majestic entrance and interior. And very cheap entrance fee! Only 20 TRY (not even 1 USD) in August 2023.

This was one of the highlights of the green tour. These breathtaking rocks carved out by humans centuries ago were used as monasteries, then hotel for travellers and then as food storage and castles due to strategic importance. It’s a huge complex and you probably need a few hours to explore them properly. They seem like the overground version of the underground city. This structure is now named after one of the daughters of the Sultans. Truly amazing and highly recommended!
Vikrant Kumbhar — Google review
150 steps up and you are there! The place is wonderful! The landscape is too good with a river rather flowing nonchalantly!
The view from the top is extremely beautiful. As like other places in Turkey, this too has got rich history to talk about and if you have got a good guide and interest, you are going to like it.

It was really interesting to explore the cathedral, with caves after caves. We were very fortunate to have the whole site to ourselves. The cathedral was very interesting and kind of unique in its own way. It was a fascinating experience to climb the site. Highly recommended.

Great place! It was cool expierence to go from cave to cave. There was two way to explore : easy way and hard way. You should follow by an arrow (red or green) I think that easy way will be fit for a little kids and elder

One of our favourite spots in the region, and should get more attention than it does.
The large churches were very impressive, as was the whole complex.

This was probably the highlight of my visit to Cappadocia. We visited in the off season and had the place completely to ourselves. The history and heritage of the site is incredible and climbing up through the area is extremely rewarding with fantastic views and picture perfect vistas. Give yourself time here if you can. We had about an hour here but I wish I had more time. Fantastic experience.

Favourite part of the Green Tour in Cappadocia! Incredible designs! Its amazing how such structures still exist in the modern day world.

We visited on a green tour. You have to climb uphill, but it's not very difficult. Some frescoes remain inside the walls. You will enjoy it a little better if you know the story of priests who fled from persecution. It is also a place that became the motif of the Star Wars movie.

There are several things to see here. It's amazing that the frescos are still visible! One of the caves I went into was really quite large. I didn't see everything but what I did see was enjoyable.

A magnificent site, not to be missed. Incredible to ramble over the rocky outcrop and discover the past, in the form of cave churches, engravings, tunnels, fresco remains and ancient homes in caves. Hint - don’t be fooled by the fake street parking attendant and his friend who begs you to pay for guiding. You don’t need a guide! Make sure you venture over to Mother Mary cave church also. It’s stunning!
Costa Constanti — Google review
We came here as part of a "green" tour. This was my second favorite stop after the underground city.
I really enjoyed that we were able to just explore the space, climb up stairs and go through dark tunnels. Would have also been nice it have a good guide here that can explain the history.
Andreas V — Google review
Our visit to Selime Cathedral as part of the Green Tour left us absolutely impressed, and it unquestionably stood out as one of the tour's highlights. This remarkable site, carved into the towering rock formations of Cappadocia, is a testament to human ingenuity and historical significance.
As we explored the intricately carved chambers and marveled at the ancient frescoes, it was impossible not to be awed by the sheer magnitude of this cathedral. The scale and detail of the rock-cut architecture are a true testament to the craftsmanship of the past.
What truly made the experience memorable was the profound sense of history and spirituality that permeated the site. Standing within those ancient walls, we could feel the weight of centuries of human history. It was a moment of awe and reflection that made the visit to Selime Cathedral a truly unforgettable experience.
Susana T — Google review
A lot quieter than Göreme Open Air Museum, but just as interesting. Rather than being herded in and out of the caves, you actually have time to really explore and appreciate what you are seeing. You’re also allowed to take pictures!
I would recommend that you wear sturdy footwear with a good grip, as most of the pathways aren’t level. But it’s definitely worth the (sometimes unsteady) climb there and back.
Caroline Findlay — Google review
Some interesting Fresco fragments but well preserved. It was an interesting walk but unless you want to see the frescos, not much different than the open air museum.
Michael L — Google review
A visit to the Selime Cathedral is one of the itineraries of the Cappadocia Green Tour. This place used to be a cathedral, which was built by carving into the rocky mountains. Like most other places in Cappadocia, it is indeed a wonder of human creativity and ingenuity. An interesting and educational visit, Alhamdulillaah.
Ihlara is a municipality found in Central Anatolia, Turkey, near the town of Güzelyurt and around 40 km away from Aksaray. It is a township with its own government, situated in the Aksaray Province.
The Varda Viaduct is an impressive architectural marvel characterized by its soaring structure and dramatic arches. It gained popularity after its appearance in the James Bond movie "Skyfall". Though worth a visit, drivers should be aware that there is only one passage through the tunnel, which is a one-way road. Visitors are advised to come early in the morning when it's less busy as photo taking spots can be dangerous.
German made bridge from 1912, Nice view
Gokhan Baysal — Google review
Safety warning. You need to drive carefully to this place, the road is narrow, after driving for an hour in a narrow road you will be reaching a cafe where you can rest and enjoy the view of the bridge. Only sandwiches and drinks, no kebap lol. We left the area and had our nice grilled sucuk at ( Tekir Zirve Restaurant), located on the top of the mountain where the view is also amazing.
RUMAISA KOUSA — Google review
Only worth visiting if you are driving close by. I didn't really see the draw here. Nice bridge, but way too many other things to see if your time is limited like mine was on vacation. Not easy to get to either. Seems most people go here just because it was in a James Bond movie. Skip it!

what a magnificent piece of work! this 100-meter-high vidaduct is a combined effort of german engineering and turkish muscle force, constructed more than 100 years ago. the road to the bridge is dangerous and for the most part consists of single lane but it's definitely worth to change the route to see this bridge.

Varda Viaduct is an impressive artifact of German engineering. It was built between 1907-1912 during the Ottoman period. It is a steel superstructure covered with stone blocks. It is very impressive and made worldwide famous with the Bond movie Skyfall.
It's an hour drive from Adana and deserves every effort spent to visit it.
While there, one must try the sweets of the car salesman. He cooks at the premise, the sweets are always fresh and very cheap ( three pieces/$)

Tarsus Waterfall, located in Mersin, Turkey, is a popular tourist spot known for its stunning natural beauty. The waterfall was formed when the Berdan Stream changed its course in the 5th century, creating an impressive cascade that attracts visitors with its enthusiastic appearance, especially in spring. Surrounded by dense forests and lush vegetation, the waterfall offers public viewing platforms and restaurant options where visitors can enjoy a bite amidst the fragrant jasmines and tranquil waters.
Tarsus is a great place to visit, and the waterfall's are great, but could do with a tidy up!
MarZar — Google review
We visited here as part of our trip to Tarsus and really enjoyed it. Access is through a restaurant, although we did not stop to eat. Entrance is completely free as is the large car park.
The waterfall is wide and beautiful, but the part we liked the most was the friendly atmosphere from the locals.
There are picnic tables set up around the viewing site and they were packed with local people coming here to have a picnic breakfast, and were also singing and dancing, in fact they invited us to share their breakfast and dance with them.
There is a duck pond outside with a waterfall which also connects to the main falls. We'll worth going and bring a picnic!

If you are coming to the Mosque after seeing Taş köprü there is shortcut, an underground passage to the mosque but the passage stinks with urine and filth. You can make a bigger loop and pass through a traffic lights which are a bit far. But if you go through the underground passage the smell is terrible. Looks like an abandoned place. If you can bear the smell you can pass through it fast and reach the beautiful mosque that is worth visiting. I think municipal authorities should pay attention to this.

Perfect park for everyone to spend their weekend or leisure time, either alone, with friends or family. You can walk along the coastal area and enjoy the cold breeze sea air. There's also a mini amusement park, benches and swings.

Excellent service. We love coming for breakfast here. Tasty food, attentive stuff and a beautiful location by the water. There is an administrator here that speaks fluent English and is super friendly and professional. You could recognize him by a moustache.
PS: if you like strong, dark roasted coffee, you need to try it here.
PPS: our bill here was always correct, unlike other places.

Nice marina with plenty of nice shops and restaurants. Staff at the entrance barrier are very kind and helpful. Nice walk along the promenade into Mersin. Would defo recommend this place during the day or evening fir a meal and walk around the shops and look at the boats.

This a beautiful shopping center with lots of cafes and an amusement park. The yachts and shops give the impression of luxury, but the prices are affordable. I like the vibe of the place. Unfortunately, there was garbage (plastics) floating in the water, and I can't understand why people ignore the garbage problem. I'm not happy with the littering problem here in Mersin, but I won't just complain. I will do my part to clean up this beautiful town and educate others about keeping the environment beautiful.

There is an active excavation site known as Olba Ancient City, situated in a magnificent location. At the summit of the nearby hill, there are remnants and a water cistern that were most likely built and utilized by the same community. While it may be distant from the center, it is still a noteworthy area. Directly across from the theater, one can find a blue tent and an old house with gardens where Feride and Aunt Nurten reside.

It's a sprawling site that if you have a lot of time to explore could be fun, but we were a little disappointed to be honest. Sure, the aquaduct is impressive and the size of the walls and watch towers certainly suggest that it would have been safe, but there is not that much here that you can't see elsewhere.
Our advice - if you are passing then stop by for 30 mins, but don't drive here just for the city.

(Translated by Google) It is a very beautiful ancient city, but the location is not clearly known. Frankly, I'm not sure if this place is Olba or not. We saw it on the side of the road and stopped. For example, we did not see the columned parts in the shared photos. I think the excavation and restoration work has not clearly started. There is a very large area, but we thought there was no continuation and we did not want to move forward because it could be dangerous because of the children. But the arch structures were really impressive, quite high and with a terrific appearance.

In the mountains themselves there are many man-made shelters carved into the rocks. The place is quite remote, so not very popular. Nevertheless, I recommend visiting. You can walk through the aqueduct deep into the gorge and then at the fork turn right into another gorge. This way you will go around the mountain.

The Heaven and Hell caves, located near Narlikuyu in Greece, are a pair of subterranean caves with great mythological significance. The sinkholes were formed by a subterranean river and have been featured in many Greek legends. The area also features a modern underground chapel. Visitors can enter the cavern called Heaven through an elevator or by walking down steep paths. However, the lighting inside is poor after a certain point. There is also a beautiful temple before entering the cave.
Breathtaking caves. A lot of walking but they placed an elevator to get back up from the cave of heaven. Worth going all the way down after the sanctuary of verging Mary all the way inside the cave. Wear good shoes.

This was an interesting spot as you have to deep caverns or caves. Oner is called heaven which you can walk into or take an elevator. You can walk in a ways but the lightning gets poor. There is a temple before entering that is beautiful. the cavern is hell which has a platform that you can stand on and gaze into hell. Worth the visit, ticket price is 45 TL

Interesting place, it was very organized, as it is the case with places and sites managed by the ministry of tourism. You may buy your tickets right away, use your museum card, Mediterranean museum card, or charge your card at the door. You may buy a museum card here if this is your first site and you are planning to visit other sites in the coming days, you will save a considerable amount of money.
The place itself is basically two ancient natural holes or pit forming a huge cliff in the mountain. You can observe one of them from the glass terrace and walk the stairs down to the other where you will find a cave with old Roman church.
Consider visiting in a cool weather day, not sunny days.
Not a funny place for children, you will end up carrying them on the stairs :D.

Make sure you're up for the challenge of climbing your way back up from the cave, there's an elevator to take you to the very top but only after you break a sweat from the cave to the elevator. Other than that the entrance fee is 45 liras however it might be cheaper to get the yearly pass.

You can visit the cave. Unfortunately, you need to take the stairs down and only with elevator up. So it's tough for buggies. There are exceptions for elderly people etc.
The cave is very cool and there is an old church down.

100% must see. Please make sure you visit this place only if you are wearing a great pair of shoes, as the size of the stairs are really vary. We have visited this place when it was really hot, but it absolutely worth it. The way to hell was obviously super easy, and the way to heaven was a bit hard, but as they covered the rocks with thick net, slips, trips and falls was prevented. Don’t miss it, even though it can be tough, you should give it a try.

Was ok to see hell side had glass walking platform. Heaven side walk down can be slippery on rocks. Once in middle these is ancient building then can go further down to a cave. These is lift back up from half way mark which is great as walk back up would have been very challenging. If you can only pick one attractive between this gillindre cave which is 1 hour apart. Gillindre cave is better one to choose.

Mind blowing place to visit. There are two caves that symbolize the paradise and the inferno. Interesting fact: the Inferno cave is located much higher than the Paradise one. The rationale behind it is that you can’t get out of Inferno and you can get out of the Paradise.
There is an elevator that takes you up from the lower cave.
You can take your children here.

The tickets were 75TL per person. Really nice place to see, but you should be prepared for the over 400 stairs to take down (and up - if you dare) to see the heaven. There is also a lift available if you don't want to take the stairs. The hell looks more like heaven and vice versa. You'll see what I meant when you'll get there. It took us 1h to see the place but we like running and stairs.

These caves are a must visit if you are anywhere near. They are massive and truly one off earth natural wonders. There are so many large stalactites and stalactites and columns and there is lighting there to show them off. It's a long way down but there is a clear water lake at the very bottom. There is a man made metal stairs to the very bottom and it's 320 steps back up to the cave entrance. It's very warm in the caves. Big free car park, tarmac road to get there. There is a coffee restaurant and toilets and the ticket price is about 24 lira.

An amazing view opens up before your eyes - green trees, blue waters and high rocks. The colors are stunning, the height - impressive.
Going into the cave you feel a sudden heat wave, the lights are dim and the oxygen is low. There are quite many stairs, but it's worth it once you see the astonishing beauty of the cave structures. There is a crystal-like shining layer over the rocks.
At the bottom you see a crystal clear lake witb rocks reflecting from its calm waters.

This is the most beautiful cave I have seen so far. The entrance is located on the wall overlooking the sea and you have to go down the stairs in order to reach it. Once inside, the number and size of stalactites will take your breath away. You just have to go deeper and deeper, across open areas and small path until you reach the amazing lake that lies at the bottom of it. If you are driving around Southern Turkey, don't miss the opportunity to visit this cave! The entrance fee was less than 2€.

This cave is amazingly beautiful and the management has done a very good job of making it accessible. The entire length of the attraction, from the top of the hill to the bottom of the cave is paved with metal walkways with rails and great traction. Myself and many of the other guests were fat and out of shape but it is still easy to get to the bottom and back to the top again if you take a slow pace. It is very hot and very humid inside the cave so you will get very very sweaty. I recommend bringing a second shirt you can change into before leaving.

This cave is pretty remarkable because it's a stones throw away from the Mediterranean Sea but as you go down it's winding corridors you actually stumble onto a small underground freshwater lake that's crystal clear turquoise blue 💙🔵💙
I honestly don't think I have seen a cave quite like this one as far as sheer size of the chambers of the cave as well as the actual size of the structures inside of the cave goes 🤯
Going down the rusty staircase of death which brings you from the cliffside down by the ocean into the mouth of the cave You get some pretty great views of the coastline and a phenomenal little sunset viewpoint 👌👌👌

Girne Castle, also known as Kyrenia Castle, presents itself as a fairly typical castle structure, albeit with a notable feature: its size. While it may not boast the grandiosity of some renowned European castles, Girne Castle compensates with its expansive layout, making it larger than the average fortress of its kind. Additionally, the castle's walls are noticeably thicker, hinting at a robust defense system that would have been crucial during its heyday. Despite lacking the ornate embellishments of more famous castles, Girne Castle's imposing presence and sturdy construction serve as a testament to its historical significance and strategic importance in safeguarding the region. Visitors can explore its ramparts, towers, and inner chambers, gaining insights into the castle's role in the turbulent history of Cyprus. Overall, while Girne Castle may not stand out dramatically in the realm of castle architecture, its sheer size and formidable walls contribute to its allure and make it a worthwhile stop for history enthusiasts and curious travelers alike.

Girne Castle, also known as Kyrenia Castle, stands as a majestic symbol of Cyprus's rich history and heritage, drawing travelers to its ancient walls and storied past. Perched on the shores of the sparkling Mediterranean Sea in the charming town of Girne (Kyrenia), the castle offers visitors a captivating journey through centuries of tumultuous history. Its strategic location and well-preserved architecture provide a fascinating glimpse into Cyprus's Byzantine, Venetian, and Ottoman periods, making it a must-visit destination for history enthusiasts. Inside the castle, travelers can explore its labyrinthine corridors, climb its ancient towers, and admire breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape. However, some travelers may find the entrance fees to be relatively high compared to other attractions in the area, which could be a consideration for budget-conscious visitors. Additionally, the castle's popularity among tourists can lead to overcrowding during peak seasons, detracting from the overall experience for some travelers. Despite these potential drawbacks, Girne Castle remains a captivating testament to Cyprus's enduring legacy and a highlight of any visit to the beautiful island.

Ryan Whitlock — Google review
The Castle is a captivating historical site that has witnessed centuries of history. Originally built by the Romans in the 7th century BC, the castle has undergone numerous transformations over the years.
During the Ottoman rule in the 16th century, the castle underwent significant changes, although many of these alterations were later reversed by the British during their rule. Despite these changes, the castle's structure today largely reflects its Venetian-era design.
Visitors to the castle can explore its fortified walls, dungeons, and towers, experiencing firsthand the architectural legacy of the Ottoman Empire in Cyprus. The castle's strategic location overlooking the port of Kyrenia served as a military stronghold and later as a prison during the British colonial period.
One of the highlights of the castle is the Shipwreck Museum, which displays the remains of a Greek merchant ship from the 4th century BC. This well-preserved shipwreck provides valuable insight into ancient maritime trade.
Despite its historical significance, the castle's preservation and organization leave room for improvement, as it is not very well maintained. Additionally, there is a lack of tourist information support to explain the site's rich history. Nonetheless, the Castle stands today as a testament to Cyprus's heritage, showcasing its rich and diverse history of the island.

7th century Byzantine castle, built to fend off Arabs, never taken but surrendered to the Ottomans in 1570, expanded in the Lusignan era, and taken present form under Venetians in the 16th century. British used it as a prison/police academy. Museum, featuring a wrecked 4th century Greek merchant ship, is included in the ticket. Impressive structure, with great views of Girne/Kyrenia and especially of limani/old port, and a little garden café at its centre.

Located atop the Besparmak mountain range at 732m above sea level, St. Hilarion Castle is an impressive sight to behold. The castle boasts intricate stonework and crumbling towers that blend seamlessly into the rocky landscape. Divided into three main parts - the lower and upper enceintes, as well as Prince Johns Tower - visitors can explore hidden rooms and tunnels connected by steep staircases.

Lovely castle tarnished by nonchalant attitude of visitors towards littering. The last cleanup effort took place in 2018 and a similar cleanup is sorely needed. Apparently masks are now the go to for making wishes at the peak 😂. Entry was 15 TL per adult. The opening and closing times are not to be trusted as they frequently close earlier. We went early already knowing this so beware. They usually close beginning around 2:30 pm. Unfortunately a fire took place some time ago and some portion of the castle that was once a cafe has burnt down. Restoration efforts seem to be slow. Mannequins and info panels in several rooms seem to be removed for renovations I assume. A paid toilet is available outside the entrance.

Beautiful ruins of what once was a castle. The view is amazing. It is a tough long hike if you want to reach the peak. Reserve around 1.5 hours for this visit. Steady walking/climbing shoes are a must, the old stairs are slippery. Entrance is 2 euros per person. The road towards the castle is tight so be careful when driving. There is a toilet downstairs (0.50 eurocents).

Interesting castle, very well preserved with fantastic views of the Besparmak mountain range and Kyrenia. The castle has three floors, allow at least an hour to explore the whole site.
Note that some of the steps around the site are steep and will be slippery when wet.

Great spot to get some outstanding views. It is a little bit difficult to climb if your are very much out of shape but doable. We saw families with children climbing to the top and older people as well. There are good stair steps going up to the top. In 2022 we paid 15 Turkish Liras per person which is less than 1 Euro.

Wear good, sturdy footwear as its rocky and steep. Be prepared for a bit of a climb. The views are well worth it! There's a little cafe at the parking spaces.

Spectacular mountain stronghold mostly dating from the Lusignan period. Originally built as a watch-tower during the era of Arab raids (7 - 10 C), there is still a Byzantine church from this period, which has been partly reconstructed.
The ruins are spread over several peaks of the ridge, be aware that the paths are quite difficult and the stones are slippery so only recommended for those who are confident with a bit of rough clambering. Views are excellent. Highly recommended for those with an interest in the island's history.

It is unfair that you don’t update working time on google. As you can see in picture last entrance should be 16.30 but we came at 15.30 and it was already closed. 2 stars instead of 1 only because we still could enjoy the nature around.

Treat this more of a hike. Very nice viewpoints, the trail is paved with protruding stones and steep in many points. Do not visit with elderly or very young ones. Great for pictures

Nice place, you can see the whole coast. Watch out not to slip, steps are steep and slippery

One of the best castles I have ever visited. It's like scenery from lord of the rings, amazing picturesque views all around and the castle has kept in very good condition. If you are visiting in the summer months, take a change of clothes as you will definitely be sweating and need a shower afterwards. Food and water are essential.
Callum McIntyre-Loughlin — Google review
Very impressive castle definitely worth visiting. Best come before mid-day to avoid too many visitors. Takes around 1.5 hours in order to explore all the different levels and rooms.

Amazing place with amazing views! Make sure to arrive early, as they close around 3 coz of the army camp nearby.and bring cash liras , as they don't accept cards or euros to pay for the tickets. There is also a small cafe with the views to have tea

We all absolutely LOVED this castle visit. It's a great place to take kids as they will really enjoy climbing up and exploring all the different parts of the castle. The top takes a while to reach but it doesn't feel arduous as there are lots of different 'levels' or parts and if you do at each one - they are all worth stopping at in my opinion - then you will break up the climb. We spent about two hours in total exploring and taking a million photos. There's a bathroom at the entrance and a cafe - beware it only takes cash. Keep an eye on small children as there are some parts that are without barriers etc. We arrived at 10am and the heat was bearable but I'd recommend avoiding the midday sun there, by the time we were leaving it was very hot.

Many steps, and a quite steep and dengerous, need good to be fit or really mitivated to get to the top of the caste. Wouldnt recomment to people with walking issues or who dont like climbing
Margarita Liasidou — Google review
Fantastic castle, amazing views, loads to explore and an absolute bargain; but bring your walking shoes! The castle is spread out over a large area on different parts of the peaks. Great to explore, especially with kids, and lots to see. Note though that there are lots of steep steps if you are going to explore it properly and there are some big drops at various points. Definitely worth the drive up there.

really beautiful place and very nice view. I recommend visiting
Diana Matkova — Google review
Free to the public to enter on Sundays, needs better up keep considering what it is, the public seem to treat it like an open dustbin & many pathways obstructed by vegetation or crumbling away. Wear descent footwear & prepare yourself for the climb. Views of the coast & surrounding mountain range are wonderful.
Located in Kyrenia, Bellapais Abbey is a 13th century Gothic monastery with panoramic views. It's home to a museum, restaurant and cafe. The concerts held here during the summer are sublime and the ruins are a beautiful sight.
Positioned between mountains and the sea this place has the right name. Cypress and orange trees in Gothic ambiance. Really eye-catching.

I took a taxi from Kyrenia/Girne as no public transport goes to the monastery. The taxi driver wanted a ludicrously-cheap 40 TL for a 6km drive uphill, so I gave him 50TL. I later walked back as downhill was no problem!
Entrance is 15 TL, which includes a little guide sheet which I found invaluable. I was the only one there. The monastery is very well preserved and there are marvellous views from the mountains.

Be prepared to search for a parking slot but when you get at the edge you will be amazed by the beauty.

A very beautiful space to visit. We visited this place during the day and it was a mistake as the temperature was +40 degrees. I advise you to visit the abbey in the late afternoon.
The entrance cost 50 lira for 1 person, but no one checked the tickets.

Bellapais Abbey, a 13th-century monastery in Turkish-controlled Northern Cyprus, was constructed by Canons Regular and overlooks Kyrenia and the Mediterranean sea. Initially named Episcopia, it may have served as a residence for the Bishop of Kyrenia. Occupied by Canons Regular of the Holy Sepulchre, it later faced neglect under the Greek Orthodox Church after the Ottoman conquest in 1571. During British control (1878-1960), the army used it, resulting in bullet holes in the refectory. Now a museum, the abbey hosts a restaurant, cafe, and cultural events, making it a historical and cultural destination.
Abdulkarim ALZarouni — Google review
Beautiful village of Bellapais where this monastery is located. Tickets are 50 Turkish lira, there is a discount for students.
No queues, easy to get in, not many people (we visited on Sunday in November). Beautiful and well preserved remains of the monastery, surrounded by hills.
Highly recommend to visit. Also there are at least 3 cafes/restaurants nearby and they are reasonably priced.

Kantara Castle

Displaying both Byzantine & Frankish architectural styles, these castle ruins sit atop a hill.
Beautiful place. Tricky road to get there but well worth it. The views are absolutely stunning.
BAZ WOOTTY — Google review
It has a beautiful road to access the castle with fascinating view at the castle, its like from both ways you have the view of mediteranean sea and you can catch the sunset and sunrise there also There is a place for camping.
Omid Deldar — Google review
Very beautiful Castle with a couple of rooms. I enjoyed the sunset view there. The road is very good and comes almost directly to the castle. The territory is quite clean.
The views are fantastic with the observation of 2 sees on both sides. I will come there again for sure. Buffavento give a great view, but it's hard to climb there, while canara is a great choice for all needs and all reasons! I like it very much!

One of my very favorite places in northern Cyprus .
can’t get enough of the place !
Magical and marvelous views.
You can see the tail of the island with two sides of it’s banks meeting the Mediterranean sea .
Mountains , trees and sea what a stunning view
You should bring your snacks and stuff with you , there’s no market close to the
castle
Make sure to bring enough water to keep your body hydrated.
Also make sure to visit at clear weather days to enjoy the view clearly.
OMAR Kh — Google review
Lovely castle visit. Very open so perhaps better to avoid the hottest part of the day in summer. Car park with toilets (pretty stinky but clean with paper) just five minutes walk. Amazing views from the top all around Cyprus.
Emma Ahmed — Google review
The road to Kantara castle is direct and easy to access. I visited off season so no staff were on site.
There are toilets but they were not maintained off season and were really unpleasant. Small picnic area and car parking space for up to ten cars. There is a larger car park about 200 metres down the hill.
Good footwear is an must although the climb is moderate and there are plenty of places to stop, rest and take in the views.
Once in the ruins the views are incredible and the rooms have interesting features.
Unfortunately there is lots of litter and no information boards about the site.
Holly Wakefield — Google review
You can see both shores of the island simultaneously, it's a very picturesque and beautiful place that is definitely worth visiting. There's convenient parking not far from the castle, and the ascent is not too far, making it comfortable, even with small children.

We like it very much. From Limassol we traveled 2,5 hours till Kantara castle, but it worth. Big castle with great views for great pictures.
Zina Paraskeva — Google review
These castle ruins had a small entrance fee to walk up. Make sure you have sturdy footwear as lots of uneven surfaces and steps to climb. Their was a small parking area and toilets at the bottom. As you walked up their are lots of areas to explore and to enter. Some were quite intact and some in ruins. At the very top was lovely views over the land and coast. Well worth the visit. Plenty of places like walls and rocks to sit and rest on the way. A lot of places have no barriers

Mesmerising views - visited in February. A good footwear is needed as it was slippery in a few spots after the rain.

One of the crusader castles of Cyprus. Fantastic views from the top. Makes you wonder how all the stone to construct was all hauled to the top of this mountain.
John Urbanek — Google review
Great view from the top and pretty good condition.
The only thing I missed was some kind of sign that at least describes the place a little bit so you know the history...
I guess Google can help with that 😉
You can see to the ocean on both sides and on a clear day even further...
Definitely a place you should go and have a look.
The song of the crickets there is astonishingly loud and fascinating how they take turns making their music 🎵
Gordian — Google review
An amazing castle with outstanding view! Its about 25-30 minutes drive from highway with narrow lanes on the way.
Once you reach there, you’ll be amazed with the view. The location allowed its builders to monitor a wide range of seashore for protection
Ayman El Baitam — Google review
A really beautiful place in the north-east of the island. On a clear day, there is a fantastic view of the entrance to the Karpas Peninsula to the east and the mountainous landscape of Turkey's south coast can be seen to the north.
The castle itself is impressive because of its history, structure and age.
Unfortunately, the maintenance and upkeep of this cultural monument leaves much to be desired.
The toilets were very dirty and therefore not usable.
Better to use the facilities at the good Kantara Bar&Restaurant further down the road.

Very interesting crossing point from the Greek part to the Turkish part of Nicosia.Friendly officers that check your passport on both the Greek and Turkish zones of Cyprus. It is known as the only divided capital in the world as shown above Greek Cypriot Police Checkpoint on the sign above.Very different on the Turkish part of Nicosia and hence Cyprus. Many different shops selling lot's of different brands at very cheap prices.Fascinating and intriguing being on the Turkish part of Nicosia and hence Cyprus.Only there very briefly for around 30 mins due to tight connection with Intercity bus from Nicosia to Limassol although I very much enjoyed the experience very much.

Now this is a good experience. For those of you that are interested. Travelled from the Turkish side (trnc) much more to see on this side than the south. You can more or less travel the green line. Passports have to be shown now to cross both ways. Not as good as 10 years ago as things on the northern side weren’t done up (cafes etc). History lovers will love it
John Stonier — Google review
Very easy to get either way once through into north there are lots of shops and eating places much cheaper than the greek side coffees for 1 euro. No photos of actual crossing point as its illegal. They accept all currencies so no need to change money

Delicious food, nice friendly atmosphere, the live music was a pleasant addition to the scene, the menu board was comical but quite practical too. Great place!!

Easy acces to the north part of Nicosia. Very interesting for a tourist, but it must be sad for most of the Cypriots.
The document checking doesn't take long, but expect to wait a bit in line.
I wasn't expecting the north part o be so touristy at the border, but anyway, after that part it changes a lot.
It feeled safe in the north too, so definetly this is a must do if you're in Nicosia.

The Holy Church of Panagia of Asinou is a UNESCO-listed Greek Orthodox church, located in the Adelfi Forest near Nikitari village, in the Troodos Mountains. It features intricate 12th to 17th century Byzantine frescos that are considered some of the finest and most colorful in the area. The church is dedicated to the Virgin of Phorbiottissa and has an ornate interior.
A beautifully-decorated ancient church, covered on every interior surface with intricate icons. "Small but perfectly-formed", as they say. Entry is theoretically free like with all South Cyprus museums/attractions, a small donation in the church box is expected. When we arrived at 09:30 in February there was no one there, but we asked the restaurant opposite, who called up the priest, and 5 minutes later an old guy turned up with the key! There are public toilets right next to the church, although they weren't very clean.

What a well-kept church. Lovely painted icons with its outside garden overlooking the mountains. It's in the middle of the forest. Opposite the church is a good restaurant open on Sundays for lunch.

It's such a beautiful church set in beautiful surroundings. When we arrived there, the church was closed even though it stated on Google that it was to be open. We were there in December 2022. We drove back to the village and found the priest who was more than willing to open the church. Father Kyriakos answered all our questions and guided us around all the wallpaintings in the church. Beautiful preserved and restorated. The church is a heritage site by Unesco. Well worth the visit!

One of the ten UNESCO World Heritage churches in Troodos, Cyprus. Church is not big and the frescos are all over the walls and on the ceiling.
Frescos are colorful, vibrant, beautiful and well preserved. Really interesting Christian stories depicted. Definitely one of the must see in Cyprus
CK Cheong — Google review
Perhaps the most beautiful of the painted churches of Cyprus, also due to the presence of a complete decoration of the narthex (including many donor portraits giving a glimpse of secular life of medieval Cyprus).
Very easy to reach compared to the churches of the central Troodos, and in my experience the opening hours are relatively well maintained.
Only issue is the old photography topic. There is no official sign stating it but most guards will insist that UNESCO forbids photography (which is not the case). Nevertheless, in random choice some people are allowed (as testified by the pictures in this google maps entry), others not, and in general they don't seem to really know themselves what they are doing.
Tom Berger — Google review
Just a gem. Difficult to describe it. If you are in Cyprus don't miss it.
Gregski — Google review
The church is fully decorated with wall paintings of the 12th-13th century. They are well preserved. At some points, you see the previous layer of the wall, which means that the latter wall painting is mimiting it. Photos are not allowed inside of the church for safety reasons. There is no entrance fee. It was open even though google said it was closed. The cute old man there said that they usually keep it open until 3-4 pm. There are two taverns near church, so you can enjoy your lunch if you travel from far.

I have visited this holy place many times and it's always a great experience.

Wonderful atmosphere in this place which is 1000 years old.

A very cute, small and old church that had remained in its original state and does not look like a church. Free entry and carparking with a souvenir shop. Their is a roof put over the original for protection. It is rather lovely inside with original plasterwork art, but signs say you are not allowed to take photos. It does need some renovation work, but I think its best left and preserved as it is inside. Their is a nice dome and a few wooden pieces of furniture. An information board and plan is on the outside wall. Pretty views down the valley from the lawn, where you can hear water flowing, but not see any.

A UNESCO world heritage site, one of the ten painted churches of the Troodos region. The painted inside is not very well preserved. It's dark, and no photography is allowed of the inside. It is worth a visit if you are in the Troodos region, but it is, overall, underwhelming. There are more beautiful painted churches in Troodos than this one. You will likely spend a maximum of 20 minutes here. To say you have visited this world heritage site is more valuable than the experience itself.

Die Saint Barnabas Monastery is one of the most impressive monuments I have ever seen. There i saw in a museum facilities from the Bronze Age. Near by the monastery Barnabas an old disciple of Paul is buried after he become a martyr for the young community of Christians in Cyprus and Antiochia. The entry for the Monastery include visiting of the monastery was 15 TL = 2 € for students.

The place is interesting but the upkeep is a disaster, the way they changed a church into something ridiculous and monks' cells into 'a museum' only shows the detachment of locals from Christianity altogether. It is only used for extracting money from the tourists. Not even mentioning the locals trying to sell products that are definitely not local or made by them. It is really a shame...

A really interesting place for a small fee of 50l to see Saint Barnabas tomb area, the church and museum of archaeological artefacts. Their is car parking, cafe and toilets. The chapel built over where his remains were found is quite petite and you can walk down to his resting place before he was moved. The church has plenty of colourful artwork and mural depicting how his tomb was found. The museum had many interesting and unusual artefacts and information. Outside was a small market ( 3 tables) that were selling locally made souvenirs. Very much worth a visit.

It was a lovely 1 hour drive from Nicosia. The drive through the winding, twisty road through the Machairas Mountains was breath taking. Its Spring time & all the terraced fields were shades of green. The almond trees were starting to burst in to flower. The air was crisp & fresh. Machairas monastery was sooo beautiful... it's not as popular as Kikkos, so it is much calmer, yet, it is full of history and beauty. The smell of dried herbs that you can buy from the shop adds to that amazing atmosphere. Beautiful, really.
The drive may be a bit tricky for newbies, but it is fine

A monastery located in a remote mountainous area. The route to this destination is beautiful with a lot of hills and interesting points of interest. The view is worthwhile the one hour trip from Nicosia.
Highly recommended!

The monastery has a little bookshop with most interesting and diverse spiritual literature in Greek, Russian and English. Prices are pretty high. But you find gems there that Amazon cannot provide.
Don't rush through the shop. Take some time, study the various books of your preferred language. People are not in a hurry at the monastery :).
The shop also carries rare herbal teas, all kinds of olive oil products, and of course icons and other devotionals.

Definitely a must-see while on Cyprus.
Beautiful well-kept monastery cuddled in the mountains. Especially the long-winding serpentine drive to this place is truly unique and gives great reflections of the beautiful nature. I was really impressed.

It's definitely worth a visit. Very interesting history. It was founded by 2 Hermits that came from Palestine in the 12th century.

It was raining heavily during our visit and although the church and shop were open there didn’t seem to be a lot to see. The church was very nice but a little more light would have been welcome as I think it relies on mostly natural daylight that was in short supply in the rain. Note it is closed on Wednesdays.
They started the show saying possibly the best night of your holiday…it was better than that it was PHENOMENAL. Food was exceptional and drinks free flowing ALL night. I want to do it all again it was FABULOUS. Thank you and especially thank you to the “girls” xxx

Honestly the best night of our holiday!! I’ve seen drag shows before but this was hysterical. The talent of the queens was so diverse, from the comedy, the singing, the dancing, it really has it all! At one point our entire table was crying with laughter (I won’t spoil which part it was, but it involved a telephone…).
The bar staff are just as much a part of the experience, making sure you were never more than a few seconds away from ordering a drink, and from your table too! No standing in long queues and the drinks service is carried on all through the show. You have the choice of the three packages, but gold is the best value by far! I feel bad only having one photo to share from the night but I put my phone down so I could enjoy the show more! I didn’t want to miss a second!
If you go on holiday to Cyprus and you don’t go to Stardust, then have you really done Cyprus? Amazing cast, amazing writing and fantastic bar staff. I’d go back to Cyprus just to see it all again!

This was the highlight of our holiday.
We had such a good laugh and the performances were incredible.
The pre-show meal was good... traditional chicken roast.
We paid for the silver package and had unlimited soft drinks and house wine/beer. The waiting staff were great and always kept you topped up.
Was a fantastic night and I would recommend it to anyone visiting Cyprus!

Absolutely the best entertainment on the entire island of Cyprus. You're definitely not going to have a better night out whilst you're in Cyprus. They have food/drinks packages to suit all budgets and top shelf spirits to get you going, so even if you're on All Inclusive at the hotel it's worth every penny to get a decent drink served with a smile. Dinner is well prepared and delivered to your table. So you'll want for nothing from the second you arrive with an amazing wait staff, kitchen team and bar team looking after your every need from the minute you step off the coach.
You host for the evening Kieran gets the show off to a flying start and keeps things running with a certain flair that really adds to the experience. The girls are absolutely top class professionals and they will have you leaving with aching cheeks from smiling all night long. With something for everyone this show really is not to be missed. Enjoyed by all ages and nationalities it was lovely to be part of such a diverse audience and to be looked after by such a great team.
Every single second of the evening was an amazing experience and represents such great value for money.
DO NOT THINK TWICE ABOUT BOOKING THIS EXPERIENCE 💙

Amazing show. If you visit Cyprus you have to spend a night here. Food is filling, roast chicken dinner, decent chicken goujons with chips and beans for kids. Waiting staff cannot do enough for you and never let your glass become empty. We did the silver package and it was more than what we needed. You can upgrade your package when there if you wish. We took our 3 year old (and our 13yr old) and she was okay for most of the show. Late night though, got back around 11:30pm. But well worth it. Comical, pretty and highly entertaining. Photo momento available. Would definitely go again. :)

Superb evening with fabulous stardust cast. We were singing, dancing, laughing and such an amazing show that won't be forgotten. We paid for a front row seat and it was awesome. Are planning to come back to Cyprus next year and will be ready to buy tickets to see this show once again 😄👍

Great evening of entertainment, not just a one off, been 2yrs in a row now. 3 packages all based around drinks. A coach pick's you up from a set location, whichever resort your in. Once you arrive you get your picture taken with the girls, which you can purchase at the break. The meal is served which was a roast dinner and it was superb, and then the show starts great fun. Well worth a visit.

Brilliant experience from the moment I entered the building. Staff are very friendly and efficient, never had to wait for a drink. Food was good considering the numbers they catered for and the show was very well put together and executed. In my opinion an experience not to be missed

An absolute must see if you're on the East Coast of Cyprus, sod the cost, get an all inclusive "gold" ticket €70. When I say all inclusive, it's unlimited booze with a chicken roast. Then a very funny and enjoyable night out
They will pick you up from your hotel as well in that price, so no need for taxis etc. Leave room ( in your tum)for that all inclusive deal!
The Finikoudes beach is a popular tourist destination in Larnaca, Cyprus. The beach has clean water status and is lined with palm trees. There are promenades near the beach that offer views of the harbor. The town of Larnaca is close by, with many conveniences available such as restaurants and shops.
Beautiful sandy beach, with a lot of palm trees and different things to see. At summertime is a place full of people enjoying the sun and the beach and during winter time a lot of people walking around, doing roller skates, skateboard etc. Christmas period is one of the best there because you will get to see the biggest Christmas tree in the island.
It is a great place to take your dog for a walk, to see and meet other people. I love this beach side because it offers you the opportunity to walk, have fun, eat, get a coffee or a drink and also take incredible photographs. It is a must see/ walk in the city of Larnaca, because it will lead you to the Medieval Castle of Larnaca and to Saint Lazarus Church which you definitely need to see during your stay in Larnaca.
I post some photos I took from Finikoudes beach this year.

Beach is clean, if you want to swim, you have to walk into deeper water I guess 100 meters. Good for children. To rent beach stuff 7.5 eur/day.

A lovely beach with a promenade all the way along the front.
There are also bars restaurants and cafes all the way as well.
The road runs parallel to the one behind with the shops in it.
On the beach you have sunbeds and palm trees.
The sunbeds cost €2.50 euros to hire.
The water is very shallow here, so great for those who just like to wade into the water.
The beach is very clean.
The harbour is to the left of the beach.
The beach faces east, so it's a perfect place to watch the sunrise from.
A very popular beach for a good reason.

Finikoudes is a nice beach, not perfect though. But sometimes there are too many people and tourists altogether. Restaurants, cafes, bars and small convenience stores are located nearby, so you can visit it even empty handed.

Great experience walking along the promenade, with the beach and crystal clear sea on the one side and a row of shops, bars and restaurants on the other. The tourist office and Larnaca Museum can be easily accessed off the promenade - just look for the Square and statue in front and they are sign-posted.
The Church of Saint Lazarus is an amazing example of Byzantine architecture and contains some beautiful Orthodox icon artistry. It is also important historically, dating from the 9th century AD.
I recently had the opportunity to visit the ancient Church of St. Lazarus, and it was truly a breathtaking experience. Located in the heart of the city, the church is steeped in rich history and legend, as it is said to be the final resting place of St. Lazarus himself.
As I walked through the doors, I was immediately struck by the beauty of the stone architecture. The church is a testament to the skill and artistry of the builders of yesteryear, and the attention to detail is truly impressive. The interior of the church is equally stunning, with ornate frescoes covering the walls and beautiful stained glass windows casting a warm glow on the altar.
One of the highlights of my visit was the opportunity to see the tomb of St. Lazarus, which is said to be the final resting place of the saint himself. The tomb is surrounded by beautiful marble statues and intricate carvings, and it is truly a sight to behold.
Overall, I would highly recommend a visit to the Church of St. Lazarus to anyone interested in history or architecture. It is a truly beautiful and sacred place, and a true gem in the heart of the city.

There are regular services, in Greek .
It is quite moving and sort of reminds me of Gregorian Chanting .

One of the most important Orthodox churches and monuments in the world. It is also one of the most beautiful churches I have ever been in and there is a coffin of St. Lazarus as well as a crypt where he was buried under the church. A beautiful Church with fantastic architecture and history. We didn’t go inside the Church as we felt we weren’t dressed appropriately at the time, but they did have shawls/coverings hanging on hooks outside for public use….just peaking though the doors the inside looked wonderful: we will go in on our next visit. They had a QR code (story telling statue) for a link to some audio history of the site, which we thought was excellent.

The Church of Saint Lazarus is a late-9th century church in Larnaca, Cyprus. It belongs to the Church of Cyprus, an autocephalous Greek Orthodox Church.
The Church of Saint Lazarus is named for New Testament figure Lazarus of Bethany, the subject of a miracle recounted in the Gospel of John, in which Jesus raises him from the dead. According to Eastern Orthodox tradition, sometime after the Resurrection of Jesus, Lazarus was forced to flee Judea because of rumoured plots on his life and came to Cyprus. There, he was appointed by Paul the Apostle and Barnabas as the first Bishop of Kition (now Larnaca). He is said to have lived for thirty more years and on his death was buried there for the second and last time. The Church of Agios Lazaros was built over the reputed second tomb of Lazarus.

We very much enjoyed sacred atmosphere of ancient Greek Orthodox Church of Saint Lazarus. Greek cues of architecture and incredibly rich inner environment of the church including fabulous iconostasis, and ancient relicts of Saint Lazarus made this experience one of the highlights of our trip to Larnaca.
Larnaca Salt Lake, located in the south west of the city, is a popular spot for a leisurely stroll and offers beautiful views of the calm water body. It is a complex network of four salt lakes, each with its own unique scenery.
You’ll have to walk quite a while but the landscape is worth it.

This place is so beautiful and peaceful. It's easy to park, free of charge and it has a big open space. You can observe flamingos very easily from there, but they are quite shy birds, they won't come too close to the shore when you are there. But if you could be qiret and wait for a while, they would slowly come closer. Definitely a great place to get closer to nature! I highly recommend this spot!

It is an amazing lake full of salt. It is just amazing. The smell of waters is wonderful I recommend it. The nature is everywhere. The water is full of microorganisms and shrimps. But do not fool your self and think that those shrimps will be tasty on a grill. If you eat them you will turn pink just like the flamingos that roam the area. You can find flamingos when it starts to rain in Cyprus and the lake becomes full, which depends on the planes that spray our clouds every now and then. The best part is mosquitoes. 10 minutes near Larnaca you will be reminded of the existence of this salt lake as thousands near to millions of mosquitoes will drink every last drop of your blood while leaving you with an unbearable need to scratch the skin off your flesh. Otherwise 5/5 for the nice views

Ancient Neolithic settlement featuring some reconstructed huts & historical information.
Brilliant. These huts in the photo are recreations of the original structures. There is excellent information about how they were built, how the people lived. The site was expanded and inhabited for approx 1, 000 years .Neolithic living, was hard work.

BARTOSZ Radojewski — Google review
Fascinating ancient site, very well maintained and lots of information boards. The idea of having a reconstruction on site is, I think, brilliant. It gives a real sense of how those people lived so long ago.
Just beware, it is quite a climb from the car park level to the excavation site, but well worth it. Thankfully there is a 'rest area' part way up, a stone bench in the shade of an old tree, very welcome.
Chris Hughes — Google review
This place it was on my wishlist for years and today I decided to make the trip there and I'm wasn't at all disappointed. The site it has the original hut houses on the top of the hill and a small site at the bottom of the hill with reconstructed for visitors to see how were originally and how people lived back 100.000 years ago. The Neolithic village is a UNESCO site and after walking around it I could see why. I have taken the route up to the hill and I could see clearly the settlement how it was years ago, but there are also a lot of details to read so you get to understand the findings.
I have walked the whole route and walking through the nature path could see where the Maroni river was passing and why it was important to build the village there in the first place. Also walking the nature path you get to see all the beauty of Spring with wild flowers everywhere.
Most of the finds from the settlement are in the Larnaca Archaeological museum which I have visited a few hours before I made my way to Choirokitia which by combining the 2 together I could visually see how they lived and survived by. The entrance fee is 2.50 euros which it wasn't bad for spending nearly two hours walking on the site. There are toilet facilities which there were clean but not a cafe. The site is open from 8.30 to 17.00 in the Winter months and from 8.30 to 19.00 in the Summer. There is not wheelchair access to the site, but they can just visit the reconstructed huts. Also the Department of Antiquities can issue special entry cards for 1, 3 or 7 days at a reduced price and also a pensioners special entry card. For more information you can visit www.mcw.gov.cy/da

This place is one of the first known civilisations known to man. You can feel the history just by being here.
Amazing views, lovely to experience, well worth a visit and in my opinion a bucket list option
