Great to see the medieval way of life. The path can be a challenge, but railings are good.
Little museum help to appreciate the past.
Not a true Castle in the sense of a live-in but more a protection Castle for the village.
Church was closed at time of going there however I was told it is opening within late '23
Worth a visit to also see the beautiful village around it.

Looks really dramatic from below and on any of the roads entering the town.
Only 4euro to enter and a lot of restoration has taken place so everything is looking authentic.
The steps up are from the middle ages and are worn, so anyone with walking difficulties could struggle.

Very picturesque and interesting castle with some historical information but more would be very welcome! Requires surefootedness to get around. Paths around the castle are worth the effort

Villa Comunale is a historic and sprawling garden located in Chieti, Abruzzo. Dating back to early AD, this park is a favorite among locals and visitors alike. The city has made efforts to preserve its historical charm while also modernizing it over the years. The park features unique benches, shaded areas, play spaces for children, and picturesque spots for wedding photos.
Beautiful shaded garden, with different play areas. I wish we had a scooter for our daughter to zoom around the garden.

Very good park!
Marco Monti — Google review
I love how this park is staying true to its history and had the city remake the benches to their well-known and peculiar shape. I'm also happy that over the years they made an effort to upgrade the park and make it more modern.

(Translated by Google) Gorgeous and recently renovated park. The fish area is beautiful, near the children's play area, well fenced. The basketball court is also nice. Too bad for the unpleasant smell, despite the rain, left by the dog pee. I recommend visiting it.

The Museo Archeologico Nazionale "La Civitella" is a contemporary museum constructed around an amphitheater on a hilltop, and features exhibitions highlighting the ancient Roman era of Chieti. Though it may have sparse attendance, it boasts an impressive collection with reconstructed temple elements that are intriguingly displayed. The modern design provides ample space for visitors who appreciate contemporary architecture.
A wonderful museum, carefully curated and very atmospheric with very helpful staff making for a lovely afternoon.

There are a lot of artifacts, but the only headsets are in Italian so you don't know what you are seeing. There's very little in writing to explain.
Bonnie Hart — Google review
Unbelievable!!! CLOSED three days a week. Why bother about visitors? Shame on the board and director of this museum!
Guido Beauchez — Google review
Maybe today I was the only visitor, except for a group of schoolchildren who were trying to revive the past. Most successfully. The museum has a small and impressive collection. Especially the reconstructed temple elements are interesting and well displayed. The museum is well designed modern place. Spacious. So if you are interested in modern architecture, you should not miss this building.
Pieter van der Valk — Google review
I think despite the grand renovations, this may be the worst museum I’ve ever been to. Confusing layout and very little explanation of anything. And they charged me €2 for my 3 month old son.
Giles Hartill — Google review
The museum is small and poorly kept. It's a shame since the potential is huge, and some of the historical objects are super interesting. Overall, it's a sad reflection of how underfunded such things are in the region. There was a complete lack of information about the objects displayed as apparently, during covid, information panels were removed and never hung back. Audioguides are available but only in Italian.
Lorenzo Onorato — Google review
Must visit museum. Amazing presentations. The coin exhibition is a unique opportunity to see and feel what coins felt like
Gregory Dedman (Bomber) — Google review
Excellent. It's a good example of archeologists investing in a well set out exposition. It helps ignorant people like me gain a better understanding of the history of this region.

The restored (low on authentic details) outdoor Roman theater is still used for concerts and venues. The museum supporting the theater is a nice introduction to what was excavated in the near vicinity of the theater.

The Natural Park Majella offers an exciting adventure for all ages with canopy obstacle courses, hiking and biking trails amongst mountains and pastoral landscapes. Visitors can explore secluded Hermitages and medieval castles without crowds of tourists. The park provides safe tree-based activities suitable for children 5 years old and above. It's a beautiful natural experience that anyone who loves the outdoors will enjoy.
Great fun! Or 5yr old loved it, our 2yr old less so. Also has great trails for the adventurous adults!

Nice park with friendly staff. It’s good to make reservations of you want to avoid the risk of waiting time.
Make sure you wear proper clothing. Otherwise you can rent clothing at the park.
Enough different levels to make everyone happy but not the most creative where it comes to the obstacles.
Picknick area is available, dogs are welcome.
We had a fun 3 hours.

There are many Hermitages in isolated areas of the mountains to visit many if which are not inundated with tourists. And there are several medieval castles to visit.

(Translated by Google) You need to go and see... Pause for a long time in front of the entrance to the Abbey, look up, observe and enjoy all the intellectual and aesthetic pleasure that the symbolic historical relief of the architrave and lunette populated with characters and other exquisite elements can give Italian gothic workmanship. Then walk through the space inside, let yourself be enchanted by the vitality of the stone carved with more and less blooming flowers on the beautiful pulpit, and by the Easter candelabra, then proceed up to the altar and finally make all the considerations that arise when faced with the evidence of the restoration interventions.
A unique experience. It gives the measure of the hidden but very significant artistic richness of our Abruzzo.

Occorre andare e vedere...

Sulmona, a charming comune in the province of L'Aquila, is nestled in the picturesque Valle Peligna of Abruzzo, Italy. Once a site of a vanished prehistoric lake, Sulmona now boasts quaint cafes and a stunning cathedral. The town's beautiful piazza features an arched aqueduct and fountain set against a backdrop of snow-capped mountains.
Museo Confetti Pelino, located just outside Sulmona, is a celebration of the history and production of the town's famous confetti. It is home to the oldest confetti company in Sulmona. Visitors can tour the facility and explore its museum, which offers insight into how the Pelino company started. The large retail store on-site provides various options for purchasing confetti, making it a great place to find unique gifts.
Great way to spend 45 minutes. Don't miss the short film on the top floor. It's better than our last visit in 2007. And it's free!

Very informative on how Pelino company started. Free to get in. Gift shop to buy your confetti.

We toured this facility and we enjoyed it. No free samples though, thus 4 stars. We bought some candy and yes it was delish. They have a large retail store with all kinds of options. Great for gifts. Easy free parking. Free tour at all hours just let receptionist know what language you need the film in.
Alba Grillo — Google review
It's a quick, free, visit. You see some old devices for making the candy, some pictures of celebrities, lots of certificates of sorts. It's kind of neat, and definitely part of the history of the town, but nothing too exciting.
The selection of confetti felt like less than from the shops in the pedestrian zone, but it was neat seeing some of the custom orders.
Basically, moderately interesting, but I wouldn't pay, or wait, to see it.

Fantastic experience!!! Canoeing on Tirino river was the perfect choice for our holiday. The Bosso team was very organised, we booked over the phone and payed by card on the day. Our friendly local guide Marco spoke English fluently and was exceptionally skilled. He gave us a detailed introduction to the history of the magical places sorrounding the area of the excursion and took some amazing pics for us! This is a must if you are looking to immerse yourself in nature and make the most of Abruzzo!

Amazing time with Il Bosso. We did both the canoe on the Tirino river and the bike tour the following day. Two different ways to live and breathe a wonderful place. The guides from Il bosso were very knowledgeable about any detail of the place from nature to local history. I strongly reccomend a stop here and a lunch at the ecoristoro!
Scloks — Google review
We took 2 canoes on the river. The experience was fantastic and our guide was very helpful and kind.
A couple of things to improve: 1. please send the guests directly to the starting point, instead of saying "follow the black smart car" and create a line of 10 cars on public roads trying to follow your car. Everybody has a GPS today and the start location is easy to find. 2. So much attention to social distancing, and then all canoes of 10+ groups were packed together to listed to the guy talking about the river... we booked the experience to be on the river far from others. Make it optional, if you feel the need to talk about it.
Michele Berionne — Google review

Rocca Calascio is an ancient stone fortress that dates back around a millennium, offering breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains. To access this beautiful ruin and church, visitors must traverse an uneven path that can be slippery at times. The climb requires good shoes and some scrambling over rocks which may be challenging for those with walking difficulties. However, it's well worth the effort to experience this stunning location that is not overcrowded even in late October.
Awesome place! Not crowded (late October), lovely nearby restaurant. Some scrambling over rocks may be unsuitable for those with walking challenges. No fee; donation box.

Very stunning castle ruin ,even the drive up the mountain was incredible. You can't drive right up to the castle, you either have to walk the 4 kms to it or take a bus from the village below. It costs 4 euros roundtrip per person. Some of the paths around the ruins might be a bit tricky for some people. The old Borgo close to the castle has several places to eat or have a drink plus some gift type shops.

A must see if you're in the area. Stunning 360 view of the mountains and valleys around, and of course the impressive fort and stone building around.
It's a short hike up the hill from the highest parking lot, so don't be afraid to drive up the narrow (asphalt road, not dirt).
On the way up you can also walk around the ancient village and enjoy some bars and restaurants, however most places seem closed or deserted.

It's an amazing place. The hilltop commands stunning views on the surrounding hills and you can see the high peaks of Gran Sasso in the distance. Both times I went the sunset was amazing, with the red disk sinking over the mountains and casting shades of orange on the castle and the surroundings.
I went up to the village just prior the castle with the car at 19:10, around the end of August.

Stunning scenery and definitely worth the effort. You can walk up the road to the top from a small village which takes about 40 mins, or you can cycle or drive up. Once up the top, you can continue walking along the mountain ridges or rest and take in the views.
It wasn't too busy when I went, but that was a weekday, so I presume weekends will be rammed.

Haway Park Cassino is a remarkable water park that offers an array of thrilling slides and pools. It boasts a tranquil setting, away from the hustle and bustle, ensuring a less crowded experience with minimal waiting times. The park is adorned with lush greenery and ample shaded areas, adding to its charm. Moreover, it maintains high cleanliness standards and provides affordable food and drinks without imposing restrictions on outside purchases.

Very nice waterpark in Cassino, nice to have something that isn’t just an olympic swimmimg pool.
Its located pretty close to the city, so getting there if you’re staying in a hotel isn’t too difficult. Walking is also an option but the sidewalk is rather narrow and not too high so it’s a little unsafe.
Plenty of parking, and the entrance is not too big, but does the job. At the entrance usually you’ll need to wait 1-4 minutes but it’s always a short wait. There is also another entrance to the olympic swimming pool, but in the summer that entrance does not grant you access to the water park.
The slides are nice, and the water is clean. There is always space and beds near the pool, and the staff are super nice and friendly. Most staff are just 15-20 year olds so they’re very “relatable”, in a way.
The bar is also very modern, and the catalog is nice. However some prices are a bit exaggerated, so a packed lunch is recommended. Plenty of benches outside the bar mean you’ll always have somewhere to eat.
The changing rooms and toilets are very well kept, and always clean. There’s plenty of toilets around the grounds, and also disabled toilets.
They also have some astroturf football fields, which are roofed and are open to the public. However there’s also real grass and seating around the park too.
Hawaii park does have it’s own summer campus, where you pay only for the days you attend and you get to have football competitions. Some external campuses like “Oratorio Don Bosco” also visit Hawaii park during the week (in 2023 it was Tuesday and Thursday), and they use the astroturfs and benches too.
The only real flaw is that after around an hour you run out of slides to do, so I recommend taking your time and not rushing everything, or you’ll find yourself doing nothing for the rest of the day and wasting your money.
4.5 stars in general

Excellent and marvelous water park, lots of great slides and because it is in a secluded location, it is not so crowded and we didn't have to to wait in line...
The park is very green, shaded areas everywhere and is very clean and well maintained.
The food and drinks are cheap and the park does not take advantage of the fact that you have to purchase only from them.

Great waterpark. Arrive ready at the weekend because it gets very busy and it's difficult to get a bed. Food isn't the best however the pools themselves are clean and well monitored.
The Basilica of San Bernardino is a must-see in L'Aquila, Italy. Its Renaissance facade, crafted by Cola dell'Amatrice, is a sight to behold. The basilica suffered damage from an earthquake in 2009 but reopened to the public in 2015. Inside, visitors can admire the Camponeschi Mausoleum and that of San Bernardino. The highlight is the Mausoleum of St.
To me is a must see peace of architecture, a please where to feel silence and where to meditate if one wants to. A 💎 of L'Aquila just steps away from the Spanish fortress known as CASTELLO by many.

This is a beautiful basilica that was only reopened in 2015 after a violent earthquake damaged it in 2009. The highlight in entering this church would be the Mausoleum of St. Bernardino (or Bernadine) of Siena, which can be found at the fifth chapel to the right. Entrance to the church is free!
The Basilica di Santa Maria di Collemaggio is a Romanesque church that was constructed by the Celestines in 1289. It served as the final resting place for Pope Celestine V and boasts of a unique chequerboard facade. The church suffered structural damage in the 2009 earthquake, leading to a five-year renovation project that documented its tumultuous history.
A magic place, just restored after the earthquake!
Unmissable!

Simpler than other basilicas, it is certainly worth a visit. A little out of the city center but reachable on foot in about fifteen minutes.

We visited it following the various life events of Pope Celestino which body is kept in this church (prison in Fumone, then Eremo in Sulmona and last this church) amazing rework after the earthquake 10 years ago.

So pleased this is open again after the restoration works. Some beautiful art inside as well as information on what went on and how they did some of the renovations, after the 2009 earthquake. If you're in L'Aquila you have to see it.

Visit this Basilica (medieval times) after final restauration. It did take quite a destruction after earthquake in 2009. First time I visited it was around 1974. There is still some work inside including "storic organ" . This Romanesque and Gothic architecture started construction by 1287.

The Fountain of the 99 Water Spouts is a significant landmark in L'Aquila, dating back to the 13th century. The fountain takes on a square shape adorned with sculptures of 99 heads that spout water. This remarkable monument can be found at Via Borgo Rivera's beginning, near Porta Rivera and is accompanied by San Vito Alla Rivera church and MUNDA museum.
Cute and quite part of the city with a lot of history. The fountain seems like a great place to relax and read a book.

Interesting spot in a lovely town. We were en route south and it was a perfect lunch spot, the fountain is quite a thing to see and learn about. FYI opposite the fountain is a lovely hotel that have the most incredible fridges of beef we had eaten but we reckon this would be great

It is one of the main landmarks of L'Aquila. This monument has the shape of a square with 99 little fountains around the border.
It is located at the beginning of Via Borgo Rivera, close to Porta Rivera.
In front of this fountain, there are the church of San Vito Alla Rivera, and the museum MUNDA.

At the bottom of the town this fountain requires either a steep climb down or a steep climb back up.
A unique structure which draws the tourists.

Interesting “negative space” … but walking there is not pleasant, and parking nearby is a real problem. Either park on the ST615 (one way, fairly wide, not to much traffic…), or just drive down the fairly steep via XX Settembre and via Borgo Rivera. There is some parking close to the fountain, or room to just pull over at the fountain.

A bit of a drive, but worth it to walk around the ancient ruins for free. Parking is next to it, and also free. There is a paved ancient straight path, which is perpendicular to the path down to the major ruin, actually leads to the cool looking round theater. With a look. But the fog was moving in, so we didn't get to go.

Alba Fucens a hidden Gem in the centre of Italy
Alba Fucens, abruzzo is an ancient Roman colony founded in the 4th century BC in the territory of the Equi, near the border with the Marsi. It is located on a hill at the foot of Mount Velino, overlooking the former Lake Fucino, in the present-day province of L’Aquila. Alba Fucens is one of the most interesting and lesser-known archaeological sites in Italy, as it preserves the remains of a well-planned and fortified city, with impressive monuments and artworks that testify to the cultural and historical diversity of the region.
A remarkable example of this is the polygonal walls, which enclose the city on three sides and are made of large blocks of limestone fitted together without concrete. They date back to the 4th century BC and are considered a masterpiece of ancient engineering, also visible from highways and on internet maps.
Abruzzo and alba fucens itself, is a hidden gem of ancient history that deserves more attention and recognition. It is a place where the past and the present meet, and where the visitors can experience the beauty and richness of the Italian culture. I recommend that further steps or actions be taken to achieve these goals of enhance the visibility and attractiveness of Alba Fucens, will be stress on internationally visibility as a unique and remarkable destination, by improving the infrastructure and facilities, creating more educational and cultural programs, developing more partnerships and collaborations, and launching more marketing and media campaigns.

Loved being able to roam freely around a major ancient city, but read about it before you go because there are not many informational signs. (For the few signs there are it helps to be able to read Italian.) Don't miss the church built on an old temple to Apollo.

Free to visit site with Roman archeological ruins, and pre-Roman stone walls. The polygonal stone walls were of interest since they had been built well before the Romans appearance. This type of megalithic building has been found in Egypt, Peru, and Europe. Was this technology shared around the world 3,000-5,000 years ago, or did they all come up with it on their own?
Gene Waring — Google review
We had an AMAZING experience touring the ruins with the help of the incredibly kind, knowledgeable, and affable Romolo! From what I understand, tours tend to start from the tourist office once there are people there who would like a tour (eg they’re not at a set time). I would strongly recommend calling to either confirm how to get a tour and/or showing up to the tourist office to ask how to get a tour - there are things like 2,000 year old graffiti (!) that you just wouldn’t be able to see or find without a guide. The tour lasted about 1.5 hours (I think). If not already evident, my family and friends and I all loved Romolo and were very grateful for his English tour (even though he insists that his English isn’t very good - it’s great!).

(Translated by Google) The castle has had a recent restoration with associated external cleaning, which deserves applause; it's always nice to visit well-kept historical sites and this is one of them. I had the opportunity to visit it accompanied by Mario, a historian who knows the history of this castle and everything connected to it well. One of the most interesting things is the sword in the stone connection, because it takes me back to a previous visit to San Galgano and the Montesiepi hermitage. And Mario himself revealed the mystery to me: Galgano Guidotti was a member of the Conti di Ceccano family and subsequently became abbot of the Fossanova Abbey, another historic connection. It's worth a visit, but always with someone to show you the history of the place.

The Castello Caetani di Sermoneta is a fascinating and picturesque fortress constructed in the early 1200s. It offers guided tours showcasing frescos depicting mythical figures. While the excursion is conducted in Italian, an English brochure is provided for basic comprehension. Visitors can explore various sections of the castle, including its cellars and tower walls, which are particularly thrilling.
Last time we came here there was an event and the castle was open but always nice to go all the way to capture the views. Such a lovely place to visit when we come to see family in Latina. Worth a drive up to Sermoneta for sure.

It is always impressive to see buildings that have a lot of history in them. I really liked the castle, not because it is full of things to see (which isn't the case here), but because I like to imagine how people lived here. The was the Caetani, or Gaetani, family that owned it and lived behind the walls of this castle, along with their army. I always imagine when I visit something old, how was life there, how they lived, what did they do.
I liked the feeling of stepping inside the chambers where they ate, they drinked, they cooked and they slept.
I also loved the walk on and inside the wall of the castle.
One small negative thing is that I haven't seen online of they have an English guide or time. I went with a group of Italians, and I understand a little bit, but it would have been great to have an English option.
The town surrounding the castle is also beautiful. You can find a few restaurants which looked good.

Very interesting and picturesque place! Unfortunately, excursion is held only in Italian, but they gave us an English brochure, so that we could roughly understand what we're looking at :) With this excursion you go through different parts of the castle, including cellars and tower walls. For us the latter was the most exciting!
Absolutely not suitable for disabled people as you have to walk many times up and down the stairs. Some stairs are rather steepy! Though it appeared to be doable with small children.

Really nice experience not far away from Rome, compared to other botanical gardens this one shine on how all the species are conserved on nature without the help of technology. Particularly nice even the medieval town ruins around the area, suggested to go during spring to see all the flowers blooming

I had high expectations for this place and unfortunately, it was not as expected
Only Italian tours are available (not English)
🥀To take an amazing shot of the flowers an the scenery you'll need to go in early spring to admire them so the flowers that you observe in the pics are only in June.
🥲 It is only 1 one-hour tour and you are always with the guide guy and the group and to take nice pics they are always on your way.
🍃 I give only two starts because I was in many botanical gardens in London and I feel that they are more to see and to do compared to this place (18€ this place for one hour - £25 key gardens all day)
I think that would be a better idea to have a audio tour available in English and in Italian and to let people explore in freedom.
The tour guide had to wait until everyone was close to star talking and a lot of people was always behind taking pictures and they didn't care even if all of us were waiting under the burning sun 😔

I’m a gardener and love to visit gardens. Ninfa was for me the most beautiful I’ve ever seen, and it was a top priority to see when I was in Italy this month. As others have said, get tickets in advance. I’d read the tour was only 40 minutes, but it was in fact 75 minutes. They started late, so we had to rush through because we had a train to catch but the staff kindly helped us see everything quickly. The guides were excellent. There is no building where you can go in and get shelter if it rains. There’s the ticket stand and refreshments where you are outside. But there are good bathrooms. Plan your transportation to and from the garden. We took a train from Rome to Latina but it took almost an hour in Latina to get a taxi and I had to call the taxi company myself (good I speak some Italian)—totally unexpected. We just barely made our tour. I suggest you get a tour from Rome, hire a driver, or drive there yourself to ensure arriving on time.

Our guide (English) Ilaria was amazing at bringing the garden to life, talking through the history and how the garden came to be. These gardens were a top 3 bucket list for me and it lived up to the expectation. Would highly recommend making the effort to see them if you travel to Italy especially in Spring time, you won't be disappointed!

Beautiful shrine...a must-visit for anyone whose life has been touched by the life of Santa Maria Goretti. St. Maria Goretti's body can be found in this church. She is a Saint that inspires me a lot, especially on forgiveness. If you can, read up on her before coming, and it will make this visit more meaningful. As it is not a popular tourist attraction, I could spend much quiet time in reflection and prayer.

I only seen the place from outside but it's a lovely building. I always admire Italian architecture.
The Santa Maria degli Angeli e dei Martiri basilica is a 16th century church inside the ruins of the ancient Baths of Diocletian. Named after a legend of Christian martyrs, it was designed by Michelangelo himself and built into the remains of the baths.
A must see basilica in Rome. Designed by Michaelangelo. Lots of great stained glass and statues to see here. The sundial was rather intriguing as well, definitely a nice touch. Massive organ as well, would love to hear it played. You are also able to walk around outside which has lots of cool architecture to see. Worth the visit.

One of my favorite churches in Rome. Inauspicious from the outside but don't miss it. There is a great little courtyard just to the left of the main altar with some old relics and carvings. Well worth the time. Near Piazza Republica .
Jay Finesilver — Google review
Built on the ruins of the Baths of Diocletian, much of the work inside is attributed to Michelangelo. It's an unusual church in that it it in the shape of a cross rather than the elongated aisle you find in many others. It's not particularly well known (judging by the few tourists entering) but is absolutely worth viewing. The paintings and sculpture which adorn the church are beautiful. And it's free! Look out for the statue of Galileo in the small garden to one side of the sacristy and the madly impressive pipe organ in the main church.

What an amazing place, with history down several levels to a very very early Christian altar! We went into Santa Maria of the Angels by chance, and were just mesmerized- it was on our 3rd day in Rome, we hadn’t seen many churches yet, and this was just loaded with art and amazing history. We highly recommend a visit here, and allow some time to go below and see amazing preserved ruins, and history.

It was a very pleasant surprise! I was expecting another normal church and when I entered this one I was surprised by its grandeur and because it was different in terms of configuration, but also because it was different in terms of façade. I highly recommend it!

Just wow .. and there loads of cool stuff for kids too... Specially the sundial but also in the main dome which people don't see....

Beautiful church built inside the ruined frigidarium (one of the colder baths inside a bathhouse) of the Roman Baths of Diocletian. It's right in the centre of Rome (Piazza della Repubblica) and a must visit when nearby. We spent over 30 mins just looking at the individual chapels and some areas were open on the day so we were able to see that too.

A ton of history in this location with ties to Michaelangelo architecture. Make sure to view the meridian line that is set on the floor, a still functional sundial.

A beautiful basilica in the heart of the plaza of Repubblica it sits across from the Anataro Palazzo and holds a strong significance as a very beautiful and lovely church in Rome.
The basilica is an intriguing point of interest for any novel tourist in the city and offers stunning and beautiful views.

The Borghese Gallery (Villa Borghese) is a famous art museum in Rome that houses a large collection of paintings and sculptures from the fifteenth to eighteenth centuries. The collection is especially rich in works by Caravaggio and Bernini. The Museum at the same location features some amazing ancient artworks.
Gem of a museum! The highlights of Bernini are of course at the beginning of the visit, but be sure to continue on as this museum has so many great works. There's a few seats throughout, so make sure to just sit and take it all in.
When visiting, it's the first building you see when you get into the park area. We walked right past it as it was quite unassuming. The park area is very nice to walk around in as well!

Honestly this gallery is such a gem!
Beautiful sculptures, paintings and rooms.
We had a lovely walk around the gardens and then ended with the gallery.
I would recommand getting tickets before hand because there was a long queue for people who did not get them!!

An amazing collection with lots of great sculptures and paintings.
We could not find a ticker from official ticket providers, but they sell last minutes ticket on the location. They sell 13 tickets per hours, so you might wait in line more than 1 hour but worth it.

Loved it, so many sculptures from Bernini, so much history, simply amazing. Recommend a guided tour as you will not know the history behind each painting and sculpture. Definitely recommend a visit.

Despite this museum's small size, it offers only masterworks. Hosting works by Bernini himself such as the Apollo and Daphne as well as the Abduction of Persephone. This museum is beautiful in every way. Everything from its architecture to the various frescos on the ceiling. I cannot recommend this place enough.

Not very big. I think 4/5 exhibition rooms. But artistically decorated and visually pleasing wall paintings. The ticket costs 15 euros. I came on Tuesday but all the tickets for that day were sold out, so I bought a ticket for the next day. You can get access 10 minutes before the time slot written in the ticket. It's better to boom early if you are on a tight schedule.

This museum is exquisite!! I booked tickets online which made it so easy, and it wasn’t as busy as I expected.
There are obvious highlights, such as Apollo and Daphne, but the whole experience was amazing. I would gladly go back again!

Magnificent!!! Lots of Berninis, Caravaggio, and Raffaello but I also especially liked their inclusion of more contemporary artists throughout the galleries. In this case, they had curated works by Giuseppe Penone, an Italian artist of the Arte Povera movement, known for his large-scale sculptures of trees that are interested in the link between man and the natural world. They also opened the gardens to visitors to see his outdoors installations. It was a special treat because the gardens are not normally open.

Super place , so many beautiful artworks. Whenever you step , or you look down or up, you can see something impressive. I was absolutely stunned. It’s really hard to get there and many people wants to see it , for a reason. Definitely needs planning and booking !

This was a very lovely place to visit and I’m very glad I went. It had a very nice selection and collection of various works of art on display here, lots of paintings, sculptures, statues, busts and antiques to see. Its collection is very well kept and very nicely displayed. I really enjoyed the time I spent here and I would definitely recommend this place to friends and family.

Everything in this building is art. Walls, floors, and ceilings. It can be overwhelming. Take time when exploring this museum.
You better book tickets in advance. I was there in March 2024, and all tickets were sold out until May 2024. They get many groups. If you don't have a booking, your only chance is last-minute entry. They take 13 first people from the queue. I waited 3 hours but it was worth it.

10 stars if I could. My favorite museum in the world. Not very big so it doesn’t lose your attention (maybe takes an hour) and home to masterpiece after masterpiece. In particular the Bernini sculptures and Caravaggio paintings are spectacles. You should book tickets in advance. Highly recommend a guided tour if you can or audio guide of you can’t as there are not extensive written backgrounds to accompany the works and the stories behind the pieces are what bring them to life/ make them even more spectacular. Also if the attendants allow, start on the second floor and then go to the first.

Came on a Friday at 4pm. They have you check in all of your bags unless you have a tiny purse. Opted not to do a guided tour and instead bought their tickets ahead of time, directly from their website for $17. Also, purchased an audio guide in person for another $5.
Their map and audio guide was not intuitive and has no logical order. We were told to start from #7. Ended up asking the staff to tell us where we were on the floor map. Some of the displays would tell you which audio # to listen to, others did not.
There is no place to sit and rest so expect to walk around slowly and constantly looking up.. it's hard on your back! We did a food tour prior to this and we were exhausted. Recommend not booking this back to back with other walking events.
The paintings and sculptures were beautiful but art history just isn't our thing. Glad we didn't purchase a tour, they were pricey and would've taken way longer.

Such a beautiful large and peaceful place right in the centre of Rome! It only took me 12 minutes on a Lime scooter to get there! Plenty of walking , plenty of greenery and also dogs playing 😁 there are plenty of benches to also sit or as most do, bring a blanket and enjoy sunbathing on the grass.

A great Gallery, our tour was worth it , we had an enthusiastic guide which was an art lover and so we got to see and learn many interesting facts and history.
If you didn’t see Benoni work before you will most likely come out wanting to see more of this master.
Well worth the visit and the park outside will give a nice place to rest afterward with some shade.

Great museum wonderful sculpture and paintings. Antiquities and Renaissance. Better than Vatican Museum. Better food at the cafes. Neat gardens, rented an electric cart and drove around for two hours. Loved it!

A really beautiful exhibit. Introduced me to Rubens and Bernini mainly, but the gallery features many other Baroque and classical artists. The bulk of the top floor is made up of paintings with religious depictions, while a lot of the first floor was sculptures of Roman mythology. Overall a very educational and enlightening experience.

It’s a beautiful gallery. We reached hardly an hour before cooking time. Give yourself about 2-4 hours. Some of the sculptures you could spend reasonably time studying looking and appreciating. Also if you are not doing a guided tour it will be useful to google and read up on the art works. You will enjoy more. We went in early Jan. It was not busy and we could enjoy. Buy the ticket before hand.

The most beautiful gallery I‘ve ever seen. Pure enjoyment of art. The art is not only on the walls, but on the floors and ceilings. Some people said 2 hours for it is not enough. I saw everything in ~1,5 hours, with reading captions for the most interesting paintings and sculptures. However, I did not use audio guide and probably different people need different time to enjoy the art.
The gallery is located in beautiful park, so you can have a nice walk after your visit.
I definitely recommend to book tickets in advance. I was there in the beginning of March 2024 and booked tickets around 2,5 weeks in advance. However, I can imagine you need to plan even more time if you’re visiting it in high season.

The Borghese Gallery was a dream come true for me. I did not purchase tickets in advance and was quite nervous I wouldn’t get in that day after traveling so far. The museum has extra tickets they sell every couple hours, so I waited in line for one hour and got in. The gallery has you walk in one direction to control flow, and honestly one of the guards tried to explain this to me in Italian—luckily I found someone to explain this to me. The surrounding gardens of the gallery are dreamlike—there are green parrots in the grass and other unexplainable beauty surrounds the property. If you travel to Rome, please make a huge effort to get to this gallery and spend all day there.

An absolute must visit while in Rome! You'll need to reserve on-line to get in, and when you show up, there'll be different time slots in the line outside. Look for your time that you reserved and jump in.... It moves quickly though. The statues of marble and artwork of old oil are just captivating! Listen up here...Make your reservation close to the Museum opening or closing times, and you'll avoid the crowds. 2 hrs will suffice for your visit if you plan ahead and keep moving. Rick Steve's guidebooks are a valuable resource to use prior to coming here.

The zoo at the Bioparco di Roma is a fun place for young children to explore. There are many animals, including elephants and Komodo dragons, as well as a playground and a theater.
Amazing zoo, well planned and animals have a good level of welfare. You should book a few hours to visit the whole park. A large collection of animals, including reptiles and large felines. Great experience for kids.
Soare Razvan — Google review
A beautiful green-area bio-park, with exotic animals that are well attended.
Its history dates back in 1908.
Over 1200 animals and over 250 different species.
Impressive aviary, with large rare birds.
In addition to the 17 hectare land site surfaces it covers, Rome BioPark has an interesting collection of plants as well while the architecture of the existing buildings has an impressive artwork to it.
Not so much focused on the animals shows but on the classical viewing and animal conservation.
Flavius — Google review
The zoo is not very large, but there is a nice variety of animals to see. Given the fact that you will walk around with children, it's even better so they don't get very tired towards the end.
The animals were easy to spot even if we visited later in the afternoon.
You should definitely bring your own food if you visit. We bought some coffee and donuts from the cafeteria, but all the other places selling food were closed!
The price is a bit high given what you are offered (14 EUR per child, 17 EUR per adult)
Stefan Popescu — Google review
Quite a huge zoo with decent shade for summer. In general, a nice variety of animals though a tad depressing in its smaller enclosures. Quite a few of the animals are single as well.
Highlight, beautiful white tiger and the family of bears.

This is an amazing place where you can see wild animals in very good enclosures, and they seem to be very well fed and looked after. If you are an animal lover which loves to see animals which are low in numbers in the wild, this zoo is well worth a visit. You cannot go wrong with the price either!

Excellent experience. The park is very well organized, a great idea to spend time both for families and couples. We really enjoyed it. Make sure you allocate more than two hours as it is quite big.
All animals seemed to be enjoying living there and except for a very interesting experience for us, we also appreciated their good standards of living there.

My older daughters wanted a spa day, but my youngest was under 14. So what to do? Go to the Zoo.
Honestly, my impression of the Zoo in Rome has to be affected by the fact that we visited in the middle of winter. We're from the NE USA, though so Italy in winter felt like May for us.
Being winter and in the middle of COVID, there weren't many people around. However there were lots of animals. Usually at a Zoo, we struggle to see some of the animals, but here they were all out in force!
My daughter rated it as the best part of our whole Italy vacation. However, one has to think that spending the day with Dad and without all those older siblings may have had something to do with it.
Alfred Speredelozzi — Google review
A nice half day out. Tickets are €17 for adults and only €14 for children.
The zoo has a wide range of animals on display and contains plenty of educational signs in both Italian and English.
There are no restaurants in the zoo besides a small cafe and a hot dog cart, so I'd recommend bringing a packed lunch or getting food in a nearby supermarket before coming if you intend to eat in one of the picnic areas.
There are also a few water fountains dotted around the park so you can bring a refillable bottle to avoid buying water over there.
Hugh Plunkett — Google review
Not the greatest zoo. A nice variety of animals, but the exhibits were quite small and some animals didn't seem to be taken care of properly. Also, in about 25% of the exhibits the animals were not even present or visible. Maybe this was because we entered the zoo two hours before closing time. They also wanted us to leave half an hour before it closed, which resulted in us not being able to visit part of the zoo.
Stijn — Google review
If you are flying to visit Rome then be aware that the Zoo has no garderobe to store you backpack. Not even some utility wagons for children as many zoos now days have.
Other then that the Zoo is nice 👍.
Eduard Niesner — Google review
Super hard to judge. Place was almost empty because of low season, which made it look like wasteland and very depressing.
There are not many good view points for animals which is IMO the biggest downside comparing to different zoos I’ve been before. That’s why my rank is so low. Trees could be cut better and cages could be arranged better.
On the other hand, animals looks like someone is taking care of them, which I see like a very good side. Bears looked happy and of course giraffes 🦒 were super nice.
Second photo - place with chimpanzee. Who decided that this view could be nice - 🤷♂️

I really enjoyed visiting the park in Rome. Very quiet, cozy, and kind environment. All animals are clean and tidy. I really enjoyed watching the bears, hippos and rhinoceroses. I especially liked the white tiger - a real "brilliant" of the park. A very beautiful and majestic animal. I definitely recommend that both tourists and city residents visit it more often, because in this place, in contact with animals, you can think very well and spend whole days wonderfully.

I went to a zoo fist time after my childhood and it was a disappointment for me. I paid 16 euros to get in in the adult category (fist time paying the full ticket although I’m a student). The open air part is like a joke. Most of the animals are just chilling in their houses and you cannot see them. If you are lucky to see them, at the best, you will see them from 20 meters- better to have a telescope.
The aquarium part was relatively better because it is somehow guaranteed that you can see the animals from a close distance.
In any case, it’s better to open a Netflix account, buy some snacks and watch some cool animal documentaries instead of going to a zoo as an adult.
After this place, I think of similar things also for the museums.
billKarlas — Google review
Small zoo with not so many animals but exciting for the kids to see. Easy for them to walk through and enjoy the wild life. There's a snack stand outside so you can buy some water. One point for smoking and the tickets for me +2kids were 45 euros. Wasn't too busy when I went which was great.
Esther P — Google review
I'm writing this with mixed feelings.
One the one hand, I'm against keeping animals in cages and therefore against zoos that do it for profit, in general.
On the other -in some zoos animals are rescued and being taken care of but I don't know which is the case here.
The zoo itself is of good size, not too small not too big. You can see everything in a few hours and the experience is overall nice.
Some cages felt big enough for the animals and some small.
There are water fountains to drink from and a cafe/restaurant but not much choice so better bring food from home.
Entry is 17 Eur for adult.

A must visit place for nature lovers and specially if you love animals! We visited this place especially for giraffes but there are a lot of different species of animals which you might have never seen. The biopark is very well maintained and taken care of and it's very clean overall where the animals are held. The reptile house is a must mus visit, do not miss out on that.
You will find multiple cafes inside serving snacks and coffee. There are also vending machines for water and snacks!
Be prepared to walk for around 2 hours as it's huge. Make sure to not feed the animals.
The tickets are priced at 17€ with reduced pricing catering to certain conditions mentioned at the counter.
We booked our tickets through Headout app where we got a discount of 10%.
Overall the visit was totally worth it and we enjoyed walking in the nature.

Loved this place! Located in the heart of the nature this place is great for a day out! Wonderful walk to reach the zoo through villa borghese. I visited in january and the experience was still fun. The animals are kept in good conditions and seem relatively happy and healthy (except for the monkeys who were horribly fighting and in horrible condition. Many had patches of missing hair and some were bleeding). Place equipped with clean toilets and cafes.

The Capuchin Crypt is a museum in a 500-year old monastery that tells the story of the Capuchin order. The crypt contains the remains of former monks who practiced self-flagellation.
Very interesting place. The displays in the beginning of the tour were very informative. The last portion had the displays. Not recommended for adolescent children. The gift shop at the end had a few items worth getting since you couldn't take photos.

The visit to the museum is really very informative. The ticket price includes a multi-language audio guide.
The audio is very well explained and helps us understand the history of the capuchins.
The crypt leaves us speechless.
We cannot conceive that someone is made of art from bones.
The only negative point is that taking photos/videos is prohibited.
Nate's Trip — Google review
This is an incredible place and I highly recommend a visit. There is a museum first and then the actual crypts. I recommend the audio guide for the museum part as it gives a lot of helpful information. My only complaint was that it’s supposed to be silent but there were large tour groups with loud guides, which interferes with the silence. If you want to contemplate the crypts in peace (as I did) then I recommend taking your own earbuds and listening to music so that you can drown out the voices around you. Luckily I had earbuds with me so I put on my music and then took my time absorbing what I saw. It is a fascinating place.

Strangely beautiful. Interesting displays of Capuchin monks remains. The store that goes with why thy had all these raw materials to work with is compelling.
I enjoy seeing the art. Thought there would be more.

Without a doubt one of the oddest things you can see while in Rome.
For a small fee of €10 (€8.5 ticket + €1.5 audio guide) for each adult, you get to experience the capuchin museum and crypt.
Unfortunately, you can't see the actual crypt without first visiting the museum. Not that the museum isn't interesting, especially with the audio guide, it's just that it transforms a 10-15 minute visit into an hour of standing around, looking at paintings and capuchin items.
There's a painting by Caravaggio inside the museum but other than that, it might not be interesting for someone who only wants to see the crypt.
Liviu-Cristian Mihon — Google review
This was recommended to me by a guide — and was he right!! I highly recommend! It was not busy, though you do have to buy a ticket on premises.
The museum has a LOT of info about this particular brotherhood, but it is a museum about them and their origin. There is a Caravaggio of St. Francis praying in the museum.
The Crypt is the most fascinating part! Wow it was beautiful. Some might think it morbid — lots and lots of bones. However, what was done with human bones (of their deceased brothers) by the friars is incredible!
Would totally go again!

I came here for this was the venue for a Sacred Music concert. Turns out it included a guided tour of the church, the museum and the crypt followed by the concert in the church. The Sacred music concert was an interesting event of 10 or so acapella performance by 4 performers dressed in dark, hooded robes. If you have time in Rome I would recommend it. It's right next to a red line metro stop. The crypt was creepy. You pass by 4 or 5 rooms on the ground level decorated, in a LEGO piece fashion, with human bones

Dec 2022. Scary tour in the Museum of Cappuccini. The crypt featured bones and skulls which were to remind us that death was nothing to fear and was the passage to our eternal next lives.
L.G. Wee — Google review
A fascinatingly morbid place that consists of a museum of the Capuchin order of monks, including their history and relics, with a crypt underneath.
The crypt itself is the main area of interest with its slightly mysterious origins and the 7-8 chambers filled with ornamented, arranged compositions of human bones and the remains of mummified monks in their robes.
This place was not busy when I went, and clearly it would not be for everyone, but as someone fascinated by crypts and ossuaries this was one of the most intriguing.
Above is the beautiful church with classic catholic splendour and artworks. Highly recommend for those inclined.

This is truly a hidden gem of the city, though it may be too macabre for some. It's certainly not for everyone, and if you've seen some of the bone chapels in central Europe, this one might not impress you much. But if you have the stomach for this kind of stuff and are looking to get off the beaten path a bit, this is a great alternative to the city's catacombs, which apparently can only be visited with a tour. That being said, I did find it a bit pricey, considering the only thing worth visiting here are the crypts. So if you've seen the bone chapels of central Europe, you can probably skip this place. But for those who haven't, this is certainly one of the city's more "adventurous" attractions.

The museum was a good addition. The audio tour was interesting and educational. It was presented more like an actual interaction between two people vs. just a description of the paintings and items presented.
When I got there, the line was very short, but a large tour came in close behind me. Pre-purchasing tickets online is recommended.
The only unfortunate thing was not being allowed to take pictures.

The Capuchin Crypt is a hauntingly unique experience. Decorated entirely with human bones, it's both eerie and fascinating. The intricate bone arrangements tell a macabre tale of mortality and artistry. It's a reminder of life's impermanence, leaving a profound impact on visitors. Not for the faint-hearted, but definitely a one-of-a-kind visit for those seeking something extraordinary and thought-provoking.

The ossuary is a small portion at the end of the museum. Interesting relics throughout the first part of the museum.
They're a bit precioud about people taking photos, for some reason. Something about the sacredness of the place. But they'll happily put their own pictures up on postcards and t-shirts and whatever else at the gift shop.

Very cool Monastery. Definitely listen to the audio guide and take your time in the museum.

The museum is good at giving details about the Capuchin order, with great information signs in Italian & English throughout and an audio guide included. You can see the highlights about its history, clothing, artworks, and key people in 25-30 minutes, or spend twice as long if wanting to hear and read everything.
The crypt is unusual. If you don’t like people’s bones just skip this site entirely as the museum path takes you through museum rooms then through the 4-5 crypt rooms where 18th century “artwork” was made from the bones of 3,700 Capuchins. It’s odd (and not to my cup of tea personally).
No photos throughout.

Worth visiting. The entry includes an audio guide, which is interesting to listen to as you walk through the museum and crypt. The crypt is impressive to say the least. The Capuchin Crypt is a fascinating and unique place to visit in Rome. It is a small space under the church of Santa Maria della Concezione dei Cappuccini, where the bones of thousands of friars are arranged in artistic and symbolic ways. The crypt is not meant to be morbid, but a reminder of the fragility of life and the hope of resurrection. The church itself is also beautiful and worth seeing. I highly recommend this attraction to anyone who is interested in history and art.

Great tour and with already given for free audio guide devices. Stumbled upon a Caravaggio painting which was a perfectly pleasent surprise. The crypt itself is very chilling, especially for someone who hasn't been to any catacombs. All in all a great experience.

This museum is actually wheelchair accessible but it be hard to know that if you hadn’t gone in advance. There is an elevator on the side street that leads to the museum - but again it’s hard to locate since it’s on the right of the entrance into a building that isn’t the crypt. If you’re traveling with someone I’d recommend they go up first and ask the museum staff for access to the elevator. There is one large step up and down for the crypt but I think it may be doable if you have someone traveling with you to just help you with that one step.
The Villa Borghese is one of Rome's most famous and popular parks. With lush gardens, a lake, and an abundance of ancient architecture, the park provides a welcome respite from the city's historical sights.
The most beautiful, incredible park I have ever seen. A local said it is like Rome’s version of Central Park, but I think it is so much more than that. My breath was taken away as I walked around—the fountains, statues, and nature were incredible to be immersed in. It was quiet as I entered through the gates rather than where the buses and taxis are, so I would recommend venturing off further into the park if you want to be around less people and enjoy nature. I wish I had something this beautiful at home and am endlessly jealous of the locals with their wonderful city.

A very nice, huge park full of trees, interesting buildings, a small zoo, a small lake with ducks where you can rent a boat. It's a great escape from the city, lots of tracks to run or walk through, shadowy areas to chill out and cool down during the hot summer days. Well maintained and free for the most part :)

Nice escape from the craziness in Rome for a peaceful picnic. So much to see at this park so be prepared to walk walk walk. There are stands for waters and snacks. You can rent quad and double pedal bikes, electric motor assisted! And much much more.

The grounds of Villa Borghese is lovely. It is huge and on a nice, sunny day it is great to walk around. In fact, you will find locals dog walking or running in the park. You can rent bicycles and a pedicabs to ride around. There are a few interesting spots and you need a good map or Google maps to find… for instance the theatre that’s same as London’s Globe… never saw it. But stumbled on the Zoo, the Museum of Modern Art ( outside on main road) and another entrance that had a pond where people can rent boats to row alongside ducks. There are buskers too. A good 2 hours of meandering. If still energetic, walk to Villa Medici and from there, onwards to Spagna or Spanish Steps. You will come across a lovely view of Rome from the top.

Amazing place to get out of the chaos of Rome, all very organized, clean. Great to relax, go for a walk, rent a bike and enjoy. I highly recommend a walk around here. If you want to see more of the place and tips, there is a video on my YouTube channel @laurapontelli

The park is a pinnacle of beauty and a gem of Rome it offers stunning views of scenic trees, masterpieces, monuments and so much more. It has a lovely pond in the centre with paddle boats and beautiful trails that are well maintained and very clean!
The park can get quite busy in the evenings so I would recommend going in the mornings, it’s very tranquil and beautiful and very peaceful to walk in.

Gorgeous park in the city, with a cute small artificial lake, where is possible to rent a roaring boat. Around the park you will find quite few bar and truck for a simple break. During sunny days, I recommend a picnic or simply laying on the grass and enjoy the surroundings

Huge and beautiful park. Spent the whole afternoon there and managed to see an amazing sunset few steps from the park.
If you go there, make sure you get a ride on one of those 2-sided bikes, so fun and helps you get throughout the park and see everything!

I really wish we had more time to spend here. The grounds were beautiful. A lot of folks just strolling and picnicking. They also have playgrounds for the children. A lot of fountains, statues, and greenery. We did a guided golf cart tour and briefly drove through the grounds

Amazing, big park with breathtaking views of Rome and plenty of shadowy paths to explore. There is a lake in the middle of the park where you can rent a boat. It is a nice and quiet break from the hustle and bustle of the city. It is also possible to rent bikes and bicycle wagons if you are not up for walking and want to explore the whole park. There is a zoo at the norhern part of the park

Lovely park in the heart of the city.
We rented a golf cart to go around and 1 hour was not even enough to see half of it. Too big to walk around so bicycle or golf cart is a must. And booking in advance is needed. There is also a small pond where you can rent a rowing boat. There are many food trucks where you can buy food, water, snacks etc.

Big park with plenty of shade and space to walk, away from the hustle and bustle of the city. You can rent a little cycle buggy for 4 people or a boat on the miniature lake. The park itself is very arid and dry this time of year, so bring a blanket if you want to sit on the crispy ground.
At one end an impressive piazza and some small food stands throughout.

Beautiful and big park, great for long walks.
There's bike, golf car, boat hire for more nice experiences around this park. Golf car is 30€ for one hour which is enough to drive all park around and have good fun.

Beautiful place, a great spot for a nice long walk. There are a few fountains in the garden that are beautiful. We also went to the pond and rented a boat (5EUR per person for 20min, paid there). You can also rent a pedal bike for 2 people or jump on a wagon like cart and get a guided tour for around 4EUR. Definitely worth seeing if you have some spare time.

This park is an absolute gem, situated at the heart of the city and standing as a must-see attraction. The villa within the park is a testament to artistic brilliance, sculptures, monuments, and fountains created by renowned artists. The landscaping features ancient trees, serene ponds, Italian gardens, and expansive open spaces. Highly recommended.

One of the nicest parks I’ve ever visited in my life, it’s truly and beautifully breathtaking place to spend the day. Going to a walk, walking a dog, reading a book, having a picnic. Whatever it is you decide to do here you will most certainly enjoy it. I’ve been several times and wouldn’t hesitate to go back. It’s go lots to do and is, is very big and beautiful. I would definitely recommend visiting this park if you have it get the chance. You won’t be disappointed.

Here's Villa Borghese is a must-visit destination in Rome, offering a unique blend of nature, art, and culture. As one of Europe's largest urban parks, it boasts an impressive array of landmarks, including the Galleria Borghese, Rome Zoo, Pincio's Water Clock, and the Globe Theatre. With its lush greenery, picturesque lakes, and stunning sculptures, Villa Borghese provides a serene escape from the city's hustle and bustle. Visitors can explore the park on foot, by bike, or even rent a boat and enjoy a relaxing ride on the lake. The park's rich history, combined with its well-maintained facilities, makes it an ideal spot for families, couples, and solo travelers alike. With its free entrance and flexible operating hours, Villa Borghese is a gem that should not be missed during your visit to Rome.

The visit was absolutely delightgul. We had the chance to have a personal guide with us and the tour was very very nice. The richness of this building is just incredible. You can easily spend 3 hours in. I highly recommend to visit the park all around, which is also magnificent. I recommend.
Spanish Steps is a monumental staircase in Rome, Italy with 138 steps. Constructed in the 18th century, it leads to the Church of Trinita dei Monti and is flanked by the Barcaccia fountain. The steps are a popular meeting hub for artists, painters and poets who were inspired by their harmonic splendor.
Another place in Rome worth seeing. The charming streets leading to the stairs are full of boutiques of the most eminent fashion houses. You can see that it is a very rich and expensive part of the city. The attraction itself is interesting, very well kept. Clean, despite the large number of tourists. It is worth paying attention to local traders who want to sell small gifts - I advise you not to, waste of money and their stories about the family, copy the sales manual. There is a beautiful view of the old town from the top. I recommend it and I'll be back there again.

Wow, there were so many people it was almost claustrophobic. It is a beautiful area and the steps and church were really cool. But be prepared to push your was through all the people as they enjoy the scenery. It is definitely worth visiting. I counted 180 steps to the top where a beautiful church awaits.

This is a must see while visiting Rome. It is in the top 5 places to visit while visiting Rome. They are very busy here all the time but well worth the visit. I would highly recommend a visit here. Remember you cannot sit on the steps and eat food the police will issue fines to tourists who ignore the local regulations. Respecting the area is nice photographs and moving on.

Very pretty view point. I think the picture beside the fountain is better than above the stairs. The church wasn’t that exciting except the one piece of art in it. No dress code required. Definitely visit it

Spanish Steps is always beautiful the day I went was cloudy because a rainy day and good to walk along not much tourism. Nice to walk up to the Basilica and look down so you can see the view how beautiful City of Rome ❤️🇮🇹😊

Iconic Roman public space, very atmospheric and still bustling at night. Don't miss the views from the top, and the haven of peace and beauty that is the silent Trinità dei Monti church at the summit the Steps.

Visited in February they were so picturesque and perfect. A beautiful site in Rome to visit on any day. The steps are majestic and are a symbol of Rome itself.
Perfect to visit in the morning time around sunrise, they are less busy and more elegant. Perfect spot for a quick snack on the steps. Beautiful in the winter time and very clean.
Highly recommend if you’re visiting the city, it’s an important point of interest for any novel traveller.

So it's kind of underwhelming here. Don't get me wrong, it's a cool place, and the architecture is gorgeous, but it's not a place to enjoy being a long time. There are tourists all over everything. You might get hassled for money or trinkets. The best way to visit is to arrive very early or enjoy the church at the top of the steps.
Michael Barton — Google review
A nice view of the Piazza, and the building at the top of the stairs. I would recommend driving early (if you want privacy), or during sunset (great view from the top).
Be careful about sitting around the stairs, there are police that patrol and tell people to get off.
Also watch out for tourist traps.

For a reason, one of the most famous spots in this unusual city, although historically it is not even close to certain landmarks. If we exclude the considerable number of steps and the very beautiful church at the top, the only thing that further refines it is the fountain in the shape of a boat (which, according to legend, was left there after the Tiber river flooded in the 16th century) at the bottom, because it is more recent, but it leaves an impression you will surely be delighted that you stopped by. In addition to the beautiful photos that you, like all visitors to Rome, will take and take with you as a reminder, just above there is a metro line that will take you to the Colosseum in a few minutes (example). You will certainly fall in love with flowers on these stairs, if you weren't too impressed before.

What a beautiful vibes here! 😊
Real sparkling Italian atmosphere. That many young people who gather here and give a special energy to the place. I just loved sitting here and enjoying this atmosphere.
Last but not least, the part behind the stairs is also beautiful 😍
If you are here, you should buy a cup of coffee and sit down on this stairs and just enjoy every moment 😊

Another iconic landmark which has to be seen when in Rome, but densely crowded unless you're an early riser.
The steps were covered in flowers in April which made it even prettier but for me, the best view was from the top and watching the sunset over the City.
Don't be tempted to sit on the steps as you could face a hefty fine if caught.
There was a rooftop bar opposite the church at the top if you want to relax & take in the atmosphere but unsurprisingly there was a queue to enter so would be worth trying to book in advance (if possible).

Nice ambience. We were there on evening to see sunset and did not regret it . Vatican View was awesome from Top but you have to find a spot for you as it gets crowded in evening. Beware of Bracelet scammers on the top side.

I think they get their name from the nearby, well protected Spanish embassy. They are mightily impressive though and when you arrive at the bottom the vista just opens out in front of you. There is a lovely sunken water feature at the bottom, so done apparently to accommodate the low water pressure. Although it was a boiling hot day, we walked up the steps, that are very "shiny" and slippery, be warned. When you make the top you are rewarded with lovely views. More steps take you into a lovely church at the very top, that it worth a visit, if only to cool down!
We steadily made our way down, dodging the people illegally sitting on the steps, apparently shouldn't be done. Safely at the bottom there are many shops to explore, it is a lovely area to see. The is a famous tea room at the bottom, typically closed on the day of our visit. Recommend though.

Nice place, not exactly the stairs but whole place. You can see lots of nice buildings. There is also Subway on the top of the stairs and you can use elevator.
The only one was disadvantage was so many people everywhere but it was not that horrible.
The place is very clean and safe.

Such a signature landmark and it would be a great spot to chill but due to the crowd it is not really possible. Eitherway I suggest to come early morning (before 7) or late night it is much more enjoyable and definitely worth a visit.

Awesome! After number of kilometers of walking in streets of Roma with minimal elevation difference this was refreshing to experience. Relatively small fountain in the base of the staircase, but of course very nice. The whole is a must to see, for sure.

The Spanish Steps are a place of deep historical significance, frequented by many tourists. The sky was so beautiful, and it is truly a meaningful place to take a walk. If I come to Rome again, I definitely plan to visit this place once more. But I recommende visiting in the morning, or there will be too much people.

This monument (Scalinata di Trinità dei Monti) is between the Piazza down below (Piazza Di Spagna) and all the way up top where the French church - Trinità dei Monti, is located. So obviously there is a French connection and history here.
The Spanish steps have been in scenes of several famous movies and TV shows, such as ‘Roman holiday’, ‘To Rome with love’ and ‘Everybody loves Raymond’.
This is another famous monument and a must-see place while in Rome. It’s just a short stroll to the East a few blocks from Via Del Corso. It’s also a busy meeting place for locals and tourists alike.
One thing to be careful about this place (and any other monument for that matter) is to be well aware of the local rules – for instance, sitting on the steps in not allowed. You should walk all the way up and down and the view from up top is spectacular.

When I first heard of this, I was worried I'd be overwhelmed by the massive amounts of stair climbing this landmark would require. I'm happy to report this is a very accessible sight-seeing destination that's worth your while. The sights are beautiful, the Christmas decorations are eye-catching, the stairs are a short and easy climb. And the history of it really makes it worth seeing in-person.

"It's just a staircase", but it has its own beauty, you just want to spend time on it. No sitting on the bottom steps! In April it is decorated with flowers. It's hard to take a photo without people in it, it's very crowded. It is worth seeing the sunset from the top.

Excellent history and nicely arranged steps make this a must be when visiting Rome. People are welcoming and the fountain at the bottom really gives this place an excellent review. It was in fast x and mission impossible: dead reckoning part 1 films. So good! Would recommend this place to visit!

Caught the sunrise at the Spanish Steps and it was magical! Its less crowded. Grabbed a gelato nearby and just soaked in the atmosphere. Tip: Great spot for a cheeky photo, but watch out for the gelato drips!

Iconic landmark with a great view of the city at the top. It was very crowded, I would be careful of pick pockets. There are lot’s of nice cafes and restaurants nearby and the metro station is right there.

So many people but cool to go and see. 5/5
Mall called Rinascente- They have free water closets here on two different floors, they were not very clean but they were free. The entire mall is like a giant department store. Very different than what I am use to coming from the USA. Stores that you would see in the USA in malls, are stores that are in the streets but not inside this mall. Lots of clothing if that is what you are looking for.
