Interesting large collection of farming, shop products , and life generally from days gone by. Personal tour by Denis with demonstrations. Best to call to check it's open first. Fee €7 but worth it.

What a fabulous trip down memory lane. Denis was very knowledgeable & gave us all the time we wanted. He has an amazing collection & it's well worth a visit. Would definitely recommend.

Wonderful little museum. Looks small from the outside but once you are inside you experience a portal back to an older time! Dennis is a gentleman and took time to talk to us about plenty of the exhibits. We spent a little over an hour here. The museum is divided in several themed areas to make it easy to explore. Great spot, well worth a visit!

A huge thank you to Denis for a wonderful afternoon filled with nostalgia and some fun along the way! This is a real gem and treasure found not far from historic Lough Gur. We will be back!

What a treasure trove of collectibles. You could spend hours here and still only see half of it. Denis is a mind full of knowledge
Mairead Heffernan — Google review
What an absolutely fabulous place. We have never been to a museum that came anywhere near as good as this little gem. Denis is a lovely guy and very well informed on all items there. We will definitely visit again and highly recommend this place to one and all.

It's amazing lovely place to visit. Museum is small, but we spent one hour just watching all those old devices and stuff collected there. Exposition is very good organized, and you feel like you really visiting shop or pub 50-70 years ago.

Very nice place, absolutely worth a visit,
I would recommend to call the owner before visit, to make sure he'll be there.

Well worth the 5-star review. Dennis is very friendly and this place is well worth a visit!
The Hunt Museum is an art museum that contains a 2000-strong collection of ancient and modern ethnographic treasures. The museum was established by antique dealers John and Gertrude Hunt, who began to acquire pieces that reflected their own interests and curiosity rather than for commercial purposes. The collection is now housed in Newtown Pery, London.
They have an amazing collection, it's like visiting a place with a bit of everything. Due to the wide variety in their collection it's never dull, a place where you can see from an original Picasso sketch to a 3000 B.C artefact. Also, their seasonal exhibitions are always incredibly interesting and highly interactive, suitable for children and youngsters.

Is a private museum. The general ticket worth 21 euros and student's ticket 10 euros. I think is something expensive.
There are very peculiar pieces and a galert of art. Anyway, I recommend it!

Staff member was very friendly. Building is very clean. Nice set of collections available to view. Not very interactive and I felt it was quite pricey. Still worth a visit.

An absolute must visit. What a gem in the city. You are taken on an extraordinary journey through history. The scan codes on the exhibits are a great idea, and the pieces in the drawers are a huge hit with my eleven year who has adhd. It kept us engaged from start to finish.

It's a decent collection of interesting artifacts, art pieces and jewelry. Though it's a pretty quick walk through. The wild Atlantic way exhibition was amazing though.

Great museum, don't miss the Apollo statue. And there was a remarkable modern art exhibition "Visions of an Unsettled Earth" during my visit.

A beautiful building holding so many historical artifacts, well worth a visit when you are around Limerick, The Café looks out onto the garden and the Shannon River, All the staff are so nice and friendly. The photos are part of an exhibition of my work in the Museum Café Jan & Feb 2024

A lot to look at, and I mean from tiny pieces like coins, to sculptures and paintings. It can get a little bit tiring looking at so many artifacts, with just a brief description. I wish there were more information about most of the objects displayed, not just a date and what it is.But a good visit either way.

I had been meaning to visit this place for last 20 years. I had great expectations , however I wasn't into a lot of the exhibits. A beautiful restaurant with a great seafood chowder.
John White — Google review
I visited this museum with my daughter, there is a lot to see here. There are many artefacts and works of art, including paintings by Paul Henry, sketches by Henry Moore, and a replica of James Joyce's death mask. Currently there is also an interesting exhibition about Ireland's links with Europe from the time of St Columbanus. This is to mark the 50th anniversary of Ireland joining the EU. A very nice lady explained the exhibition to me when we arrived. We had lunch in the café which was very pleasant, we sat looking out at the garden. There is also an exhibition of paintings in the café, and some sculptures to look at outside. We spent longer here than we originally expected. I would recommend a visit to this museum to anyone visiting Limerick.

Stopped in to support Irish Heart Foundation coffee morning. Everything was well laid out, staff were friendly and cheerful. Scones, cakes etc were easy to like. Lovely crowd and nice views of the nearby river Shannon. I didn't do the tour so cannot comment on this part of The Hunt Museum. Recommended for s visit all the same.
King John's Castle is an imposing Norman castle that dates back to the 1300s. It was renovated in 2013 and now features period costumes, visitor center, and interactive exhibits. The castle is located on the Kings Island in Limerick, Ireland.
This is one of my favorite castles to tour. It's a legit castle, complete with "murder holes" around the perimeter and all the tremendous history to go along with the heavy exterior... whilst being right there in the middle of this sweet town of Limerick! The view from the top is stellar; don't miss it! I've visited the castle several times. The first was for myself! I was curious about it and was so surprised to find such a well-organized museum inside! I've returned several times to take others who had never toured the castle and will likely go again for the same reason! But I enjoy it so much, so I don't mind at all. If they offered a season pass, I'd likely get one!
Most recently, I attended a Van Morrison concert at King John's Castle and was just amazed at the intimacy of this venue and the majesty of the space! It was a dreamy experience!

Excellent place to spend a sunny day, beautiful views from the tower, lots of interesting history and interactive exhibits inside the different areas of the castle. You could easily wander for a few hours especially with 6-12 year old children. The inside of the museum has some fun and educational exhibits like a cannon ball that you can hold to see how heavy it is and a model of the battle that was fought here. Outside you can walk into several different areas but the best parts are climbing up the stair wells to see the views.

King John's Castle is an ancient massive structure, a fortress with a very rich history, built in Limerick on the banks of the river. After the halls with interactive history stands, you go out into the courtyard of the fortress. There you will find the most interesting things for children - many games and entertainment. There you can see the towers, climb up, admire the beautiful scenery and the rapid river with rapids. The fortress has its own free parking lot for visitors about 200 meters from the fortress

The whole family loved this place. Free car park about 2 minutes walk. Tickets are reasonably priced. Staff are very friendly. The whole place, toilets included, was spotless. Nice cafe and gift shop at the end of the tour. Really informative, interactive self-guided tour. Nice panoramic views from the top of the castle walls and towers.

I enjoyed visiting this castle. Museum was a little run down but was a good view showing what was happening during years it was built. Great views from the top of castle.
Julie McShane — Google review
I was pleasantly surprised, the upkeep and care of every step of the way is lovely. You start your journey stepping back in time reading and interacting with the written history, which leads you underground to the foundations and ruins hidden under the castle, which then leads you to the court yard full of medieval games, music and you can explore the castle which is reconstructed well.
Tilly's World — Google review
Well worth a visit. The history of Limerick and the castle is told in a very detailed and interactive way. If you’re not willing to read your way through a museum, several videos show you a good summary of all mayor events in the history of Limerick. A few items do require some maintenance (several lights were not working, multiple screens in the castle itself were not working). You can climb the castle tower and get a beautiful view of the city.

What a great museum and castle! We’ve been to a few castle tours here in Ireland and this one has to be one of the best. The museum portion is very informative for those of us who might not know the local history and does a great job explaining the importance of the castle. We were able to walk up one of the towers which was quite exciting! The tour section that takes you underneath the castle walls is also fascinating. I’ve never seen something like this at a castle and it put into perspective a lot of what was talked about during the museum portion about the siege! Overall wonderful castle!

Visited the Limerick King John castle during noon time on a weekday. Not crowded, tickets are easily available, you can also book online.
Firstly, in my opinion please visit the place only if you want to absorb the beautiful landscape of Limerick along the Shannon River as viewed atop the castle towers. Thats wonderful scenic views. 5 stars for it.
Rest of the museum brings down the rating for the improper lighting and the way things are being depicted. No person is found directing anyone or showing the way. Tourists are free to go any which way they like and then realise they need to go back as they missed something. Once you are in the center courtyard of castle, poor directions allow you to wander in which any direction. I will not be surprised if some tourist missed on some sections of the castle just because there are no proper sign boards.
The technology has been used but only to be non-functional most of the places.
There is a cafe at entry-cum-exit and of course a souvenir shop, Which are good.
Adeesh Goyel — Google review
Visited on a Wednesday afternoon, purchased 2x €13 Adult Tickets and entered right away (no line).
We did enjoy the history exhibits, but a lot of the exhibits were closed or non-working. They also had a lot of major construction going on internally, so these aspects made the ticket prices not quite worth it for us. Didn't feel we got the true value.
Views from the castle tops were lovely.
Jamie Oakland — Google review
If you like history facts and detailed explanations of day-by-day happenings of a castle, this is for you. With excellent history timeline and very well done dioramas, it made me plunge into the history of the place. I took my time soaking everything, and once the open yard of the castle, I was overwhelmed. Worth it.
Rodrigo Telles — Google review
It's a fantastic castle and museum. So much history and information to take it. The grounds are spectacular and beautiful views from the top. Definitely worth a visit

We visited on Sunday where it was very quiet. This castle and museum was incredible. I say that because I’m the earlier part of the museum they fully educated you on the history and timeline of events. When you made it through to the castle portion you were fully immersed and could picture what it may have been like there back then. They gave visitors a lot of access that was safe and self-paced, making it great to go at your desired pace. There are a lot of castles to see. This one is a standout in my book.
Bill Dorr — Google review
Did not ger inside due to a lack of time. But went around the castle and into the castle garden, very impressive building. The state of the castle is just amazing, almost unharmed.
Donny Darko — Google review
Really nice castle with included museum.
Parking lot is across the street and has many free spaces.
We booked our tickets in advance online but it wasn’t necessary on a weekday.
The exhibition was nice and had different interactive parts. We really liked the “people” in screen who told you about their life’s back in the days.
After the exhibition you could go through a walk through path where you could see the old stone walls of the castle. Then you could also climb on top and had a really nice view.
You could end your visit with a walk through the shop or get some food & drinks at the cafe.

Located at the heart of Limerick’s medieval quarter and building work for King John's Castle began in 1212 by Viking settles Who intermarried with the local irish. The Castle is more than 800 years old.
I paid to enter 12 euros, it's ok for the view.

Truly a great stop. We went mid-November around 12 PM and had almost the whole place to ourselves. Price is good for what you get. Soooo much history to take in. You can set your own pace, choosing for it to take an hour or three. They have lots of activities for kids. Glad we stopped here!

Had a fantastic experience renting here and I would recommend Retroventures to anyone looking to tour Ireland by motorcycle. The bike ran great from start to finish and both Bill and Chris were there to help with their experience and professionalism. I can’t wait to come back and rent from them again. 10/10

Elaine and Chris and our whole Retroventures experience was five stars!! We bravely rented a bike towards the end of winter but did not let the cold scare us! Their equipment kept us warm and safe and made the trip enjoyable! If you have time in Ireland this is a must do for Riders, and if you don't have time make it!

Fantastic experience! I was a new rider in Ireland and Elaine made sure I was good to go in the rain. Loved the bike too - I’m used to Ducati and this was my first time on a Royal Enfield. I can’t say enough about their professionalism and kindness. Can’t wait to go back.

Chris and Elaine set me up with a great bike to tour around the Wild Atlantic Way with. They provided a good orientation (I learned to drive on the left), some very helpful routing tips, and provided rain gear as well. 10/10 would ride again.

I cannot offer enough praise for this outfit. The entire process was seamless and the value for the money cannot be beat! Elaine picked me up in Limerick and gave me a great tour of the sights on the way to the shop. The shop is located in a perfect location for almost any route in the country. Chris provided excellent advice on routes and a great rundown of the bike. The Benelli handled magnificently and gave way more than I expected. I cannot wait to come back and ride with RetroVentures again!

Killaloe River Cruises offers scenic boat tours of the Lough Derg and River Shannon. Guests can explore the area from a relaxing perspective, with stunning views of Clare and Tipperary on each trip.
We didn't plan to take the boat ride that they offer until the very last minute. They were really kind enough to accommodate us at the very end even though they were fully booked. Good stuff.
Would recommend the boat ride if you have an hour to spare while in Clare.

Great experience. Lasts approx 1 hour. Friendly staff. Boat was immaculately clean. Bar available with hot drinks, soft drinks and alcoholic drinks.
Initially sat on open top deck but there was a brief heavy rain shower a few mins into the trip. Everyone went downstairs and indoors to stay dry. Plenty of space and still great views through glass windows. When rain stopped, staff quickly dried off all seats on the open top deck again so we could sit back up there for the rest of the trip.
Would highly recommend.

Bunratty Castle is a 15th-century tower house in the village of Bunratty, Ireland. The castle was restored in 1956 and it now houses exhibitions about medieval and Victorian life. There is also a folk park with recreated cottages, shops, and farmhouses.
Great place to visit with family and friends. The visit kept us all occupied for nearly 4 hrs. Can walk through the restored castle and village and get a feel for what life was like in the 1500's. Good adventure for children and educational for the young and the old. Refreshments and food are available on site to buy and the the Bunratty shop offers lots of momento's for everyone. Many B&B's in the area too.

We loved our time here. The history in the houses and the castle are amazing. We spent hours here and even though it was a very wet day we loved the experience. The staff were very nice and helpful. The place is very big with lots to see. The price for admission was well worth it as you can easily spend the whole day exploring the park and castle. Brilliant we loved it.

Best part about this is the folk park of historical village buildings. All were easy access and dressed as the period they are from. The castle is also interesting but very steep narrow staircases to access the rooms so you need reasonable fitness to reach them and the views from the top.
Had lunch in the tea room with visiting chickens (see pic) and highly recommend the fruit cake.

Bunratty Castle and Folk Park. You will enjoy a lot of this castle and park. There are plenty of curiosities both in the castle itself and in the park nearby. Go up the narrow stairs of the castle towers, feel the atmosphere of the main hall, and look at the rooms of the different status of the castle residents. And see how farmers, fishermen, blacksmiths, and other people of that time lived. The old houses are still heated by park staff in the same way as in ancient times. The entrance costs 10 euros. Large parking lot. Enjoy!

This was a quick stop while we were in Ireland. Unfortunately it was raining quite a bit when we were there, so there weren't many good photos. The castle itself was beautiful, and we understood that they host weddings and private event inside.
There is a little shopping area across the way that was very nice and had quite a good selection.

Our family really enjoyed this castle. 12 and 10 year kids said it was one of their favorites on the whole trip. The castle is beautifully restored and really gives a feel for what it was like to live there. The village outside the castle is equally well done and very interesting. A bit expensive to get in but there's a ton to see and it's very well done. Definitely recommend.

Great place for all the family! Lots of history and a lovely old village to walk around! Even got a bar for your favourite tipples. The castle itself is really nice also with lots of history behind it. Would 100% recommend if you're in the area!
If you're staying local be sure to go to one of the medieval banquets, definitely a night to remember and we'll worth the money.

Bunratty Castle and Folk Park is absolutely stunning! Their village is so quaint and we loved exploring it. The tour through the castle was humbling, informative and something I’ll never forget.
We did the Medieval Feast and were amazed out how well the performers were and how they stayed in character all evening. The food was generous and delicious. A must do!!
Buy your tickets in advance and skip the lines. The feast sells out quickly so you’ll definitely want to get those early and it’s a must do!

The detail they put into everything, especially the folk town is incredible! They even burn peat in the houses make it a multi sensory experience!

Bunratty castle is gorgeous! Walking through the street lamp path till you reach the castle is beautiful. Then once you walk into the castle you're transported back in time. We enjoyed mead, music, and a four course meal. It was so fun to listen to the harp and singers. I loved the comedy added into the performance from the butler. Overall it was a great experience! I will say the food could be better, but it wasn't horrible.

Despite the rain, we had a fun time touring the village. The castle itself was alright, but not one of our favorites. I think I would have liked it better with a tour or more information.
Sarah Roth — Google review
Interesting attraction with enough to keep everyone young and old entertained for several hours.
Recommend visiting the castle first then take your time exploring the historic buildings in the park that feature homes from Ireland's past.
Plenty of free parking available nearby, and adequate facilities bearing in mind the numbers of visitors.
Sue McMahon — Google review
We went to Bunratty with my parents (a fit 70+) and my kids (8 & 10) and we all had a fantastic time. I couldn't see in any review or information exactly how long to stay or whether it was any good in wet weather, but I'm so pleased we chanced it and didn't try fit it in on the way to the airport. Sure, you could go walk around it fast-paced in an hour, but why would you when you could take your time leisurely enjoying the many little cottages, hidden gems in the fairy Forrest, casual beer or cuppa in one of 3 areas, or let the kids play in the fabulous play park.. We were there a good 5 to 6 hours, and that was really taking our time through the many historic buildings and stopping for lunch. The staff in the blacksmith area and the man with the drum were a highlight as they chatted away about interesting historical topics..often having the crowd chuckling with their cheeky humour. The castle steps are not for the feint hearted, but the view up top was worth it. Stopping in at the ice cream parlour next to the play area is a must! Another favourite was the black pudding sausage rolls (or would it be black pudding rolls!). I took home a bottle of castle-made Meade at €24 and we finished off the lot that night. At the end of it, we all enjoyed it, young and old.
Hannah Langstaff — Google review
Amazing place but keep in mind if your bus stops for only 20 minutes, you only have time to take pictures of the castle, nothing else! They close and lock the small gates where you enter next to the castle and the only exit is through the Folk Park shop and it is even further away from the bus stop than the entrance. The Toilet is at the far end of the park. This layout caused some headaches for us and our bus driver. Otherwise I would have given 5 stars.

I highly recommend it! The history of the castle is impressive, very beautiful and interesting. On the territory there is a large park with ancient architecture, which shows how the Irish lived in ancient times. It is best to plan a trip to this location for the whole day.

We arrived early for the Banquet dinner at Bunratty Castle, and they let us in to explore the Christmas Village free of charge. It was so very charming and festive. My partner's parents were visiting from Canada and they adored the experience; they hadn't experienced anything like it in Canada. The Banquet dinner was equally amazing - the hosts were so talented, juggling service and entertainment duties so efficiently. They engaged all the guests and performed so many classic songs very well. Can't wait to go back again.

What a fabulous spot for a family day out.
We had such a great evening at their Festive Lights Walk, they had beautiful lights placed all around the park, the different thatch houses were on display for us to visit and they had lots of Christmas attractions from an igloo with animals, a big Christmas jumper, a merry go round and a fabulous light tunnel.
I would highly recommend their Christmas Festive Lights Walk.

We visited the site of Bunratty Castle on our way to the Cliffs of Moher. Despite not having visited the interior, the exterior is well maintained and it is possible to understand that it is a very well preserved historical site. There are many restaurants and shops in the surrounding area, so it will be a good stopping point to explore.

A good day for a visit St. Patrick's Day 2024. As for the castle, mind your steps as the winding steps can be tricky. It's well worth the effort to step carefully. I love the folk park too, like stepping back in time and seeing the old community.

So much to do and see. Loved it all.
Even had an impromptu performance from singers who were rehearsing for the banquet that evening.

Disappointed in the lack of information to read and learn at each exhibit. A few sentences isn’t enough for most houses and the castle rooms are not explained beyond a sentence or two in the map. I would have preferred more information than less! It’s a nice walk though, pretty houses that have been well maintained. They just need more historic information.

You will need three hours to tour the complete castle grounds. It is huge. The castle is the highlight for sure but the grounds themselves have a ton of buildings, animals, and attractions to keep you entertained but also to teach you something new.

Enjoy!

My family and I have had a membership here since our first child was born in 2010… it’s a fantastic place anytime of year! It’s great for walking, exploring, learning and bring guests! Can’t recommend this place enough.
Today was our first day back since COVID, so we went for a nice long walk and just hung out - fantastic!

Great place to visit for all ages. Had food which was nice and not expensive. There is a big playground for the little ones, lots of bathrooms spread around. A few little Shops, and you can go into most of the houses. Lovely family day out. Staff are very friendly too.

A wonderful experience! You can see the castle, the imitation farms, and what the town would have looked like! We spent about 1 hour in the castle and two hours exploring everything else. You can definitely go quicker if you don’t stop and read everything.

Wow! It is a beautiful castle. Although due to long lines and being with a tour group I was unable to go inside. The grounds are lovely, though! There are flowers and plants from all over the world. Well worth spending time exploring the grounds!

Renovated Castle with genuine period furniture. Beautiful exterior with surrounding replica town buildings that provide an idea of Irish history. Nice gift shop with small, but very quaint and service-oriented Cafe area for lunch. Well worth the visit.

This castle is very complete with artifacts that make you feel like you’ve gone back in time!

At the Foynes Flying Boat & Maritime Museum, you can find a replica of the original B314 flying boat, as well as information about maritime history in the Shannon Estuary. The museum also has an ORegan Restaurant and Irish Coffee lounge where you can enjoy some food and drinks.
This was a brilliant couple of hours, adult tickets were only €8 and for that you can walk all the way around the flying boat, and visit three floors of decent exhibitions. The highlight is obviously the boat, you'll almost miss the stairs to the upstairs where you can sit in the cockpit. The Maureen O'Hara collection has some wonderful pieces, including an actual Oscar statue, and the Foynes harbour section has some great history about the history of trade and industry in the area. Make sure you go all the way to the the fourth floor as you can go outside and use the binoculars to look out across the Shannon estuary.
Stuart Saint — Google review
As I stepped into the museum on the weekend, I was greeted by a warm and welcoming lady at the entrance. I bought my ticket and began my journey through the halls filled with historical information, immersing myself in the rich tapestry of the location's past.
The staff members were lovely, and I was treated to a captivating historical movie that shed light on the museum's significance and the area's fascinating history. As I explored further, I marvelled at the different planes on display, particularly the majestic sea flying boats, which showcased why Foynes was an ideal hub for such a unique mode of travel.
One of the highlights of my visit was exploring the life and legacy of the legendary actress Maureen O'Hara as I learned about her iconic roles and admired her timeless costumes on display.
But the most unforgettable moment came when I stepped inside a real flying boat, amazed by the sheer size and grandeur of these magnificent aircraft.
To top it all off, I concluded my visit with an authentic Irish coffee experience, savouring the blend of flavours.

Small sea plane museum in town of Foynes, Co. Limerick. Carpark outside. Access through resturant/cafe & gift shop.
Museum is interesting as it's full of facts regarding seaplanes landing in river Shannon. You get to see a real PAM seaplane. It's very big and impressive! You can go inside, sit in passenger seats, visit cockpit & navigation room. A must for any plane enthusiasts. Young children and adults can also enjoy a flight stimulation.
The main museum covers information about important locals, maps, Foynes boating & shipping memorabilia, navigation artifacts, weather reports, etc. Also little hologram video about the first Irish coffee made a served in Foynes. Due to covid restrictions Irish coffee wasn't available to purchase or enjoy!
Included in ticket price is the Maureen O'Hara exhibition, Maureen opened the museum in 1989 & visited it every year till her death in 2015. The exhibition is a little room of a few dresses, some awards and general information regarding Maureen. All items donated by her grandson.
Worth a visit if in area but only a once. Cost of 2 seniors, 1 adult and 1 child €39. Wheel accessible in main museum only.

The museum seemed to be very spaced out the last floor had hardly anything in it. The woman at the desk area seemed like she was having to do the job of two people as she had to escort people in then come back and serve at the ticket and gift shop area. There was a very good hologram room but I felt like it could have been displaying more than it was. It was very interesting walking around the flying boat model this was the highlight of the museum for me.

Replica flying boat amazing and to be able to sit in cockpit great fun.
Well laid out.
Newly installed Maureen o hara visit very good and adjourning cinemea showing exerts from films novel.
Would have liked much more info on technical details of planes/ engines but do see need for all inclusive appeal for all ages.
Foynes Irish coffee expensive but worth it.
Pity gift shop did not sell models of planes as am sure people of my generation would have purchased.
However good exhibits and hologram films.

The Flying Boat Museum is a great visitor in West Limerick. The flying boat facility itself is spread over 3 floors. It would, I feel, benefit from being all on a larger ground floor area with the Yankee Clipper placed in the middle with the Control rooms and other boat equipment placed around the perimeter !
The Maureen O'Hara Museum is magnificent and very well laid out with costumes and items from her long acting career including the 2014 Honorary Oscar also displayed. Don't leave without trying the Irish Coffee !

Recently visited the Museum after waiting a decade to see it. I was not disappointed. Wonderful museum of aviation. So much going on. From the amazing Boeing 314 , The invention of the Irish Coffee 1943 , The Maureen O Hara exhibition including an Oscar.
I was so impressed with the Maritime museum, though I felt more prominence should be given to local Foynes native and legendary mariner Conor O Brien

I had no idea this museum was so interesting OR that it's also a "Maureen O' Hara" exhibit/display. Not sure why it's not advertised more. Nanas and Grandads will love the MOH section, parents will enjoy the ease with which you can get around the place (buggy friendly) kids will love sitting in the cockpit of the flying boat and if Michael O' Leary ever sees how spacious the seating on the plane is, he'll hurl himself into the estuary. Ample parking, café at the museum, lifts to various floors, €12 per adult, €6 per child.

Quin Friary is a charming Franciscan ruin in County Clare, Ireland. It is a favored spot for visitors due to its peaceful atmosphere and well-preserved architecture. Despite being usually uncrowded, the abbey's ruins are wonderful to explore and you can easily read the gravestones. I stop here every time I go to Ireland. It's a favorite place - never crowded, in fact, we're usually alone. The ruins are in remarkably good shape, and you can even still read the gravestones easily. You can wander all over this place; go inside (most of it) and look in the rooms, and there are several to explore. There are some plaques there to tell you about the history of the Abbey. It's peaceful, and gorgeous, no matter the time of day or weather. When you're done, go across the street to the Abbey Tavern to have a pint!

What an amazing venue / hideaway. We had our wedding here in June and the day was perfect. All our guests were completely blown away. Jenny and the team were so attentive they really couldn't do enough for us. You would not think you were in the middle of Ireland. We visited several times before the wedding for food, coffee or just a walk. We had exclusive access to the venue and most of our guests stayed the the night, they loved the rooms and the vibe as much as we did. We are already looking forward to calling out for lunch again and have our anniversary night here already penciled in. Ponies were forward going and the ride was great fun with beautiful scenery.

I had a private party at Slieve Aughty in March and cannot recommend this little gem of a spot highly enough. We had over 80 guests and each and every one of them were blown away by the venue, the food, attention to detail, the uniqueness and the amazing service. From the moment I queried with Slieve Aughty about holding my party at their venue, nothing was an issue. We hired the venue out to include the bedrooms and two of the lodges and we were so impressed… Such thoughtful attention to detail, comfort, decor, the beds were amazing, rooms so spacious (not that we got to be in them for long as the party itself struggled to end 😂), balconies with the birds singling away in the morning… where will I begin and where do I end… The food was amazing, the breakfast to die for, the ambiance, service, freedom and genuine hospitality was 10 star and not just 5!!! Cannot not recommend highly enough!

Lovely place with delicious food. My friend brought her son and his friend there for a birthday treat to go for a pony trek. They loved it. While they were away we had a lovely lunch at the cafe that's on site. I had my dog with me, so we had to sit outside. The only suggestion I would have is to include some heating eg patio heaters for outside dining specially given the Irish weather

My partner and I got married here in the June 2023. Such a stunning place to host a wedding, the experience was A1, thanks to the kind staff from the cafe and the wedding coordinators, Lisa and Jenny. We booked the entire guesthouse , and two of the cabins just steps away from the guesthouse. The tranquility of this location and countryside setting are beautiful and refreshing to have your wedding at , especially if you live In a city. We had 44 guests in total at our wedding and it was a great space and everyone commented on how cosy and intimate it felt. Fortunately for us ,We had our in the outdoor space under the pergola. Our guests were sitting around us in a circular fashion. The buffet dinner was spectacular , great offerings , something for everyone and the beauty of a buffet is people can pick from the 4 different offerings and have it all on their one plate if they choose. And even go up for seconds as plenty of food was made! The organic garden onsite is responsible for how magnificent the food is. Slieve aughty are very accomodating to allergies too and will work well with the bride and groom to ensure a great day/weekend is had. Not to Forget, the pizza night on the eve of the wedding went down a treat, followed by tea and biscuit cake. Overall what you can exp eat is a relaxed environment, that allows you the bride and groom to essentially curate your day. We had a harpist for ceremony music, and a DJ after dinner for 4 hours. My family brought their traditional Irish instruments too and played a session the night of the pizza party. We hired garden games from an external vendor too and this was added entertainment for the wedding guests too. Giant Jenga, connect 4 and cornhole (many Irish people were new to this game , including my own family) . Also on the.night of the wedding I hired a mini bus to collect guests who were staying offsite and he brought them to their respective accommodations, I felt this was worth it as the location is remote and if your guests want to have drinks and are staying offsite , it was worth booking this service. Would recommend this venue for a nice intimate wedding space. 50 I believe is the maximum allowed for guests so bear that in mind if inquiring for your special day here.

Amazing place, would highly recommend, great food, great staff special thanks to Lisa on reception for the friendly welcome, to Robert who took us out on a trek through the woods, and to Panache the lovely docile horse who was great for me as a novice rider.

Lovely place to stay in a couple of days or just a few hours in the weekend. Plenty of activities for horse riding training or just walk in the woods.
The little coffee they have is beautiful and the staff is very friendly. I would recommend the organic breakfast if you're staying overnight there or the pizza nights on Friday's evenings. My husband first went as a guest and is now returning weekly for the horse lectures 🤣 Highly recommend 👍

Best stables ever. I learned to ride here back in 2015. Woody was the best little pony. I've done so many lessons and hacks here, their cafe is amazing! Especially their chips. The mountain trotter rides are so much fun, I honesty cannot wait for the Halloween camp! :-D
Highly recommend taking this ferry instead of taking the long way around. They come fairly often and are a great opportunity to relax and enjoy some views of Ireland!

Rode the Shannon Breeze back on Sept. 2, 2011 on a gray day from Talbert. Drove our rented Citroen on board and enjoyed the views of the lighthouse, the ugly power plant behind it and the river and coasts themselves.

If driving from Galway to Killarney, be sure to use this ferry to save a lot of time and driving Get your ticket online or onboard. Fun 20 minute cruise! Best kept secret on the Wild Atlantic Way.

Lovely way to travel between Co Kerry and Co Clare. A little expensive for single crossings. The 6 or 12 trip tickets available online are great value if you live locally.

A simple service they provide but for the price it costs I must say its fantastic. You really get value for your buck with Shannon ferries! Staff were friendly and I could bring the dog across without a car, provided my collie wouldn't be any hassle and under complete control, which she was, so all was grand. This is the definition of good old fashioned irish hospitable service 💚🤍🧡
Kev Rock — Google review
Slightly disconcerting that the staff on the ferry lowered the ramp of the ferry at least 800m before docking.
Other than that the ferry is a much more relaxing and pleasant way to get across the Shannon than the drive through Limerick. I'd recommend using this route on a fine day if you have the time to spare

If you're travelling with the family this summer, Turoe Pet Farm is a great place to spend a day. There's plenty to do on the farm, including an outdoor nature trail and playground, as well as Pets Corner where you can cuddle rabbits and play with dogs. The farm also has its own football pitch and picnic areas.
Nice farm with clean paddocks and a walk right around which is gravel all the way. We arrived while the heavens opened and the rain lashed with an umbrella - and did not get dirty walking.
You get a small bag of food on entry for feeding the animals which made for some really excited kids and the animals are clearly accustomed to visitors and only to happy to be feed
Once the farm area is done there are some amazing play areas which you have a maximum of 3 hours to enjoy using a colour band system. These are really well kept. Absolutely Hugh filling the respective barns and with a lot of young staff keeping a very close watch on the children at play. Top marks
Finally they have a large catering area for food to enjoy before departing.
Highly recommended for anyone looking for a nice 1/2 day

Good fun for kids of all ages. Animals look well cared for. The whole farm looks relatively well maintained. It takes some time to cover the entire farm on foot. It has a good collection of animals. Could have had a dedicated member of staff near the rabbits and hens, so kids could enjoy petting them in an orderly manner. Large outdoor play area for kids and adults to enjoy. The large bouncy castle/world was really good. Choice of food could be better, considering the crowd. Nevertheless a fun day out for kids and family.

Visited Turoe Pet Farm 27th August with my 3 children, this is an amazing place. All animals are clean and happy, area around is well looked after, staff were very helpful and friendly. We did spend all day here, and kids didn't want to leave. So much to do and see. We definitely will be back again!!!

Absolutely brilliant day celebrating my daughters birthday. From feeding the animals to all the different play areas. Love the new outdoor covered play area. Staff are amazing, so friendly and helpful. So we'll organised, will definitely be back soon.

Fantastic experience. I cannot praise this place enough. The inflatable indoor area is massive and of the very highest quality and layout. They also have a lovely soft play are just a few meters away. Food and drink options were excellent. There seemed to me to be at least three playgrounds with very modern equipment. The newest of the three playgrounds is probably the highest quality and most innovative playground I have ever seen. Plus, as you'd expect, there are lots of beautiful animals. Plenty of parking and friendly helpful staff everywhere. This place clearly spends serious money on equipment and staff, that is very obvious and it all adds up to an amazing family experience. I cannot recommend Turoe Pet Farm enough. A+

Neat and tidy is highlight. Animals in numbers are less but i thinks its enough to enjoy. Felt relaxed after the walk. Kids will enjoy and make friends with others. Can use playgrounds, football court bounce etc. At the bouncee more security has to be made because I could see a couple of ladies were using the bouncee and the guy was helpless in stopping them. Lots of parking available.

Absolutely brilliant place. We travelled up from laois so a bit of a spin but it was worth it. Such a lovely welcome when you arrive + We got 2 bags of animal feed and went on our way. Plenty of huts around the hawthorn walk for you to shelter in from rain or as we had today glorious sunshine. Busy but plenty of room for social distancing, sanitizing stations everywhere. The staff in the jungle zone and in the inflatable city were absolutely brilliant and kept a very close eye on all children so no one was getting injured. Great job well done. The food was fab and not expensive at all. We could have easily spent another hour or 2 there with the amount of playgrounds and astro pitch but our little man was already exhausted from the fun he had. Turoe farm is spotless inside and out. We will definately be returning. Thank you for a lovely day out.

Another day in Turned Farm and it was great. This is a great outdoors/indoors attraction. There are quite a few species of animals. They are very friendly and let you touch and feed them. Staff are friendly and very professional. The inflatable city is definitely the place where most children are interested. Really cool and entertaining place. Will definitely recommend and come back. It's a shame I didn't take more photos of the place.

Really enjoyed the petting farm. Lovely helpful staff, very friendly. Baby and toddler area in bouncy city was not supervised by staff and older kids kept coming in, putting my 9mth old at risk. Outside of that, place was amazing. Older kids loved the bouncy city. Spent 2hrs in there. We will definitely be back!

Great place for family to bring back a more wholesome entertainment experience. You can spend the whole day there in either rain or shine thanks to the addition of covered in play areas as well as the huge bouncy castle shed which has to be seen to be believed. There are two food option , the restaurant which serves very affordable and tasty food or the cafe which has sweets and cakes homemade and delicious. If you like you can also bring your own food and enjoy it on the many picnic tables located all around or in the restaurant area its self. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the food quality and taste was very good although basic. We have been many times over the years and will continue to go as it is just a fantastic wholesome family day out with no electronics to be seen and tired happy kids at the end of the day.

Rathbaun Farm is a family-owned farm that features a number of activities for visitors, including sheep herding and baking classes. The land is also in organic conversion and features pastureland as well as limestone soil.
Interesting and educational experience - learned about sheep farming as well as farm life in general. Fenton was very nice and was happy to answer questions. Ted the sheep dog was awesome. The newborn lambs were adorable (I swear I didn't steal any). Nancy was super sweet and her class on scone-baking was both funny and fun. And the scones we made were great! Fun visit if you're in the area.

Fantastic farm experience! They were very warm and welcoming to our family. We loved touring the farm, learning the history and watching the collie herd the sheep. Beautiful grounds and house. The scone making session was delightful and the scones delicious!
You must contact them to book a session before you go. They were very responsive when I emailed early in the morning to arrange a visit.

Authentic old Irish sheep farm with a commercial grade kitchen. Fresh baked scones with rhubarb jelly with tea or coffee welcomes the guests. Then Finton then takes you on a tour showing various breeds of sheep, then maybe a demo of a border collie's ability to herd.

I visited on a Monday, end of August when the air had a touch if autumn to it.
The sheep were darling to see with each having a sign above them telling what type they were and for what purpose they were being raised.
The owners were charming and welcoming and didn't rush you. The handmade scones with jam and cream were wonderful.

The Burren National Park is a magical and stunning landscape of cliffs, rock formations, and lakes. It's home to many rare plants and animals, including otters, mink, lizards, and ravens. The park was awarded UNESCO Global Geopark status in 2011 because of the international importance of its geological heritage.
Not sure if it was just Google maps taking us on an adventure but we travelled along many narrow farm type roads to get to the Burren national park.
It's unusual to experience a park that consists of rock formations as far as the eye can see.
The rocks were amazing and we wish we had more time to explore a bit longer and do a few hikes.
We still enjoyed this special terrain none the less

This location pinpoint is the starting place for all the well marked trails from the official website. Car parking is the side of the road and free. We did the blue Mullaghmore loop and it took us ~2.5 hours with a stop at the top to eat lunch. It’s a lovely walk, not too difficult but requires you to climb up rocks and not always on a normal path. I would do the same trail again if I was in the area!
Maegen Dudas — Google review
If you're keen on Geology, great photographic shots, and a bit of history, this is then a definite add to your 'Ireland bucket list'.
The Burren is renowned for its remarkable assemblage of plants and animals, and over 70% of Ireland's species of flowers are found there.
It's quite a drive but the views are incredible, take with your hiking boots and enjoy the trails.

I found fossils at the top! If you like that sort of thing, this place is good for finding them. I found my first amonite here.
I don't do the spandex and two sticks sort of hiking. I wear my leather boots, which have good grip but aren't from mountain wearhouse. The 'red route' was easy enough for myself and my partner - neither of us are that sporty and the view from the top was a blessing!
We were lucky with the sunlight and it suited the heat there. The bleak hills became like a desert. There were lovely goats all over the place and strange stones about.

Excellent location for a hike. The sounds of the birds on a sunny day is wonderful. The climb can be a little risky on the vertical parts and loose rubble but with care it is very much worth the visit and walk.

Special place with a landscape that teases the imagination.
It's possible to park closer to the park than the designated parking area on google maps by turning right at the crossroad. There is verge parking available along the road outside the stonewall entrance into the park. You will save yourself some unnessary walking.
Features variety of walks of different lenghts, the longer ones over difficult terran. Those featured on the parks map are very well marked.
Look out for 300 millon year old fossilised choral in the limestone.

The Burren Perfumery is a charming floral centre that produces scented items like candles, perfumes and soaps. The perfumery takes inspiration from the wildflowers of The Burren, and boasts of an herb garden and blending area where ingredients for herbal teas are sourced. Visitors can explore the flower gardens while enjoying dishes at its tearoom which uses these organic ingredients.
Super cute visit here today!! It's a bit quiet as it's the winter months but the ladies working there were lovely and let us watch a short film about the botany of the burden which was lovely! Picked up a couple of nice soaps to take home but will be looking online for gifts from here in the future as there were some Beautiful gift sets. Id say when the herb garden is in full bloom it's heavenly but even now it's worth a visit :)

We had an amazing visit today. We looked at Google maps which said they closed at 6pm. Arrived at 4:56 pm and saw the door to the tea room read they closed at 5 pm. When we asked to be certain, the kind clerk voiced we were welcome and they would serve us. We ordered a fruit scone, a plain scone, and a slice of apple cake! Best cake we have had our whole visit to Ireland! We had tea for two (my daughter and I) and my husband had coffee. Everything was wonderful! We then visited the perfumery shop and watched a delightful video over the nature and flora of the Burren. I ended up purchasing a absolutely fantastic perfume (summer harvest) and three bars of their soap. The staff were extremely kind and helpful and receptive to us coming with only moments to spare before closing. I would recommend this place without question, but definitely go earlier as we missed seeing a lot while there! It is off the beaten path while touring the Burren and not open to coaches which was exactly what we wanted!

Very nice shop, and it smells beautiful!
Plenty of parking.
My wife loved it. I would say that for the quality of their products, and the fact that they are made there, the price is reasonable.
As you look at the products, you may also try some samples.
And at the checkout, the lady was kind enough to offer my wife to sample the product (lip balm) before she paid for it.
We didn't go to the coffee shop, but if you are in the area, I think it is a good place to stop, refuel yourself and keep going!

Amazing discovery in a picture perfect location. Perfume tour (free) was very informative and all staff were friendly and very helpful.
They even had a 3.7kw car charger available (although this may be for staff use, but I got a cheeky 1hr charge!)
Only thing missing was a wider selection of hot drinks in the cafe, as i feel that this would encourage more people to stay that bit longer and maybe purchase more of their amazing products.
100% recommend.

The scenery of this little perfumery is so beautiful. We went this March so I can’t imagine how pretty the garden must be in the summer. All of the staff are very friendly. They make lovely cakes and afternoon tea in the tea room. You can also sit outside on a nice sunny day and have tea in their small patio area. The selection of perfumes and skincare products is very broad and suitable to many different tastes.

I first visited the Burren Perfumery in the early 1990s, when the little cluster of buildings was far more open to the Burren, and honestly it felt a little ... I suppose the word is vulnerable?
I went back to it again 2 decades later and it feels very different. It no longer feels vulnerable and exposed, as the trees have been allowed to grow around and through it, and the various flowerbeds and pots are now well established with lots of life and colour all year around.
You can check out the process of making perfumes and soaps in the Blending Room and the Soap Room, wander the pretty Herb Garden, and browse the products in the Shop, and enjoy lunch, teas, coffees and DELICIOUS cakes in the Tea Room - but be warned, it's usually busy, especially in the high season.

A local suggested we come here and I’m so glad we did, because it’s not somewhere I would’ve picked on my own. We went on a weekday and it wasn’t busy. A first class experience! Even though they were without power, the wonderful staff managed to open and provided the full perfume "tasting" experience: all four Burren scents plus four season-inspired perfumes. Like a good wine tasting, each perfume was unpacked for its underlying aromas. The unrushed and no pressure testing was just the off-the-beaten-track experience I value. For a homemade perfume, not too expensive either.

Awesome discovery! The Byrren Perfumery was recommended by Maura .. a delightful woman I met in the market at Galway. First of all the drive to the perfumery was magical; garden delightful; and then of course the highlight was the tour with Patricia & listening to the engaging owner speak passionately about their operation. I must have tried on every lotion. Later kept thinking about the perfume I left on the shelf. Will order it when I get back to Canada!!
Heart of Burren Walks offers an immersive and informative tour experience in County Clare, Ireland. Led by knowledgeable guides like Mary O'Dea and Tony, the tours provide a deep understanding of Irish life, geology, plants, ancient history, ecology, and poetry. The walks are described as engaging, humorous, and friendly while offering a unique perspective on the Burren's landscape.
April 2, 2024 We are an Australian couple with links to Ireland. My family came to Geelong in 1852 from Kilfenora County Clare and we have always been interested in our Irish connections. We did a tour of the Burrren with Mary O’Dea and I would recommend her tour. Mary is a font of knowledge and her informed and interesting commentary about everything from Irish life, geology, plants and ancient history kept us transfixed throughout the tour. The tour was wonderful and a ‘must do’ when visiting County Clare.

Tony unlocked Ireland for me. In between spurts of actual walking, we talked about glaciation, immigration, the Irish diaspora, Oscar Wilde, the EU, neolithic pastoral practices, geopolitics, deforestation, and whisky. If you ever have the opportunity, I recommend a walk on the Burren with Tony.

Tony Kirby shared his extensive knowledge of the Burren with us on a lovely 2 hour guided walk. The pace was perfect even though the group was comprised of walkers of various levels. I would definitely recommend this wonderful experience for people who want a deeper understanding of the Burren.

Though the day was not a sunny one, the experience was tremendous! I'd highly suggest taking a break from the regular tourist traps around Ireland, walk with Tony for a guided, authentic view of the Burren, its nature, and history.
Annette Siegel — Google review
This short hike was packed with sights, facts, and fascination! So many encounters with a landscape are horizontal affairs, and the appreciation and engagement goes left to right, forward and backward.
Tony's awareness and insights, delivered with humor and a sense of custody, make one sense an appreciation of the vertical. I grew conscious of the Burren as a deep history below my feet that informed the flora and fauna on its surface and conducted a relationship to the open sky above. Highly recommended!

Tony's stories and knowledge about the Burren can't be beaten. Gives you what you need to appreciate this astounding landscape. Some poems too to entertain you along the way!

The Athenry Heritage Centre is a small, but interesting, museum in the town of Athenry, County Galway. The museum has displays on the town's history and its connections to nearby castles and historical sites. The museum also has a number of artifacts from the town's past. The center is well-maintained and the staff are knowledgeable about their exhibits.
My family had such a wonderful experience here. The staff were super friendly and informative. The dressing up was so much fun, and the tour was very informative and patient as we needed to translate from English for our youngest to understand. We also had an archery "contest". In general, the kids and parents were thrilled. The whole experience is about 1.5 hours. Parking is by meter (only coins!) in the town square next to the heritage center. We didn't plan to go to the castle as well, but the admission was free, so we hoped in to have a look.

Visited the Athenry Heritage centre today with my family, it was a quite time and we had a tour and place to ourselves which is unusual for them but great for us, we had a great day, as well as learning about the history of the very preserved town and what it would have looked like, we got to dress up and try our hand at archery 🏹
the staff were very friendly and knowledgeable and I would recommend this for all ages ,especially families .

We have been to the Athenry Heritage Centre for birthday parties and their annual Christmas event.
The staff try their best to make the experience the most enjoyable for the children as possible.
I would highly recommend a visit if you are in the Athenry Area.

This should be the starting place of your tour of the city, which is really remarkable with a long history. The tour is in a small area within an old church packed full of interesting history and insight from deeply knowledgeable guides. It's also very tangible -they allow you to touch and handle several items like swords and helmets. Try to also make sure to go when the castle itself is open. The heritage center has a restroom/toilet for people taking the tour.

An incredible place. A must for any beach/surf lover. Friendly folk and lots of dining options. Surf rentals and classes available beach side. Amenities close by including public toilets, a playground and leisure centre. A firm family favourite.

Beautiful beach.... Depending on high or low tides you may have to walk a little to find a place to put your picnic mat and chill. But it's worth it. You And the kids can play in water. there is a car park (7mmin walk) from the beach which is free ..not sure about the one close to the beach guess you need to pay for it. There in toilet facility. Lots of places to eat and ice cream shops. A Must visit place....

Such a nice little beach with some fun waves. I’ve enjoyed my trip so far. Lots of great surf schools all around and fun surf shops and good food.

Great spot for beach walks when low tide. During high tide the water is splashing almost onto the street. Low tide goes way out. Lots of first time surfing classes going on when we were there. But also locals getting in their daily swim! 🥶

Very Busy place, parking is 2 euros for 3 hours if you can get a spot. Tons of surfers. Close to restaurants and shops. There is a great kids playground and the beach of course. Check for high tide as it completely covers the beach which happened on the visit.

A beautiful clean beach with great waves for surfing. The morning there’s a high tide so the waves crash against large rocks but during the rest of the day the beach becomes beautifully sandy with waves for surfing. During the summer there’s a lifeguard but towards September onwards you need to be careful since this is the low season and no lifeguards are present. Next to the beach there’s a very nice hipster style cafe with healthy foods and drinks. There’s also a leisure centre, wall climbing, surfing lessons and kayaking. Beautiful area!

Surfers paradise, rough tide dashing against massive constructed boulder seafront wall. Plenty of convenient good facilities for visitors, including clean public toilets at the beach front. The town itself is lovely, full of quaint and quirky shops, restaurants and galleries. But extremely busy with humans, from everywhere, for the Covid times we are battling with right now!
Mary Rooney — Google review
Beautiful beach with lots of parking and all amenities (toilets, cafe etc..).. However would definitely recommend checking the tide times before embarking if you plan to spend extended time on the beach.. We went there in afternoon, around 2 PM and the sea water had already engulfed most of the beach and within next 40-50 mins, what was a beach front turned into a promenade with waves thrashing its walls!!.. Nice little town also with lots of good eating options all very near to the beach/promenade front.. Next time hopefully we will enjoy more beach time..
Lovely place to look around/purchase something lovely. Lots and lots of things to choose from. A lovely cafe there aswell. One of the nicest scones I've tasted. Well well a visit.

I love this place. If you like shiny things like me or make your own jewellery, or have a serious interest in geology, then you cannot afford to miss a visit here.
Disabled parking space right by the outside seating area with wonderful countryside views for a coffee and cake.
Enter here through the cafe and large inside seating area. The cafe sells a variety of food .
Inside has a huge selection of rocks , crystals, geodes, jewellery and keepsakes. I could spend hours here.
Kids will love it too. Educational and fun. Choose your own bag of mixed pea size pebbles in beautiful colours for around 6 euros, then try identity each piece.
Buy a geode to crack open or gift to a friend and see what crystals have formed inside for around 5/ 10 euro. Great little presents.
Entry is free too.

This trekking trip was amazing! My daughters and I really enjoyed ourselves. It was a combination of walk, trot, and a bit of cantering. The views were spectacular. The horses are incredibly well-trained and I felt very comfortable with Peter and his crew. This was the highlight of our vacation--great job, Peter! We had so much fun.

Immensely exciting horseback riding experience. Beautiful landscapes and views of 3 different attractions, incredible tour guide, darling horses. I even got the chance to canter! It was exhilarating and I’d love to come back sometime! Guaranteed you will not find a better horseback riding tour in all of Ireland, I reviewed 10 different places and am so glad I picked this one!

My grandma and I went on the dirt trek. Despite it being a rainy day, it was a lot of fun. The views were beautiful and the countryside was peaceful. Neither of us are experienced riders, but Peter was extremely nice and patient. It was a fantastic experience!

The highlight of our trip to Clare! We did the 2 hour mountain trek with Peter as our guide, he told us lots about the local history along the way as well as recommendations of where to go for food and drink which also did not disappoint. Great value for 2 hours of riding and I felt very comfortable as someone who hadn’t been on a horse in several years. I will definitely be back again!

Once in a lifetime experience! Everyone was SO lovely and easy to deal with. The horses are all absolutely gorgeous and I'm prepared to smuggle my fabulous horse 'Guiness' back home to Australia with me. My dream come true to ride one of the cob horses.
The horses are kept immaculately and obviously so well loved.
Peter is also a fantastic guide. I could have stayed riding all day! He catered for all levels of riders.
Thank you soooooo much!
The views are some that you wouldn't see anywhere else in the world. Highly recommend this team of people and horses 💕

Lovely place to ride and take in the scenery! Trotted along some nice quiet country lanes and had a little bit of a canter up amongst the hills. The staff were friendly and helpful and had no problem adjusting the ride to suit different experience levels. (They also gave some great tips of other local things to do while we were in the area). Thanks for a great ride!

Have you dreamed of riding through a magnificent forest and across a verdant landscape on the back of a beautiful horse with a long, flowing mane? Would you want an experienced, attentive guide who would tell you stories about the land and its history? Would you want to walk, trot, or canter? Do you picture yourself as a beginner, or an experienced rider? Do you ride with a friend, a loved one, or go solo? Whatever your dream is, I expect you'll find that some or all of that dream will be fulfilled here.
This was the best part of our vacation, and if I lived nearby, Mountain View wouldn't be able to get rid of me. Peter (an exceedingly accomplished rider) is an incredible guide and caters his rides to riders of different abilities by having two guides for each ride. Everybody gets what they want and will enjoy themselves, whether it's walking, trotting, or cantering and enjoying the magnificent power of the horse beneath you. The scenery is gorgeous and Peter brings it to life with stories about his family, the land, and the history of the area. I simply cannot recommend Mountain View enough. Go! You will make memories for a lifetime.

Best decision I made this holiday! I wanted to hike the Burren Way but decided to do the Burren Trek (3 hours) with Peter. The horses are beautiful, well trained and Peter and his staff were able to give everyone a trip based on their experience in horse riding. The views were phenomenal and I had so much fun! Thank you 😊
lalawoman — Google review
We had a great time on our 2 hour trekking adventure with Peter! He was hilarious and also quite knowledgeable about the area and it's history, making sure to point out and explain what was around.
The ride was broken up by a few times to trot at a comfortable pace. Peter was attentive about everyone's comfort and kept checking in with us, stopping to adjust stirrups to be sure we were all good to go and also took two pictures for us to remember our adventure by. Would absolutely go out with them again.
The drive out there is on a tight back road but not a lot of traffic and totally worth it. They also had clean restrooms we used before and after. Horses may be better suited for those with some animal or horse experience as they did want to do their own thing at times and my horse Socks certainly did try to test what he could get away with as far as grazing and following too close or not keeping up during trotting but gentle reminders to stay in line and keep up and he didn't ignore me if I stayed firm with my instructions. (Give them an inch and they'll take a mile, much like my dog at home 😅💜) Lived Socks though he was great.

Did a 2 hour ride today and it was incredible. Peter & his staff were so friendly and the land we rode on was flat out gorgeous. Horses were well behaved and well cared for. So happy I chose a great company to check off an item on my bucket list. I’ll be back!

If I could give this tour more that 5 stars I would in a heartbeat.
Hands down one of the best experiences we have ever had… we are not at all horse riders (my daughter 21 had never even been on a horse) Peter made sure she was safe and comfortable along with everyone else on the tour. What a fabulous trek/day. We did the 2 hour tour and thought it would be very long but time flew by and we wished it would never end 🐎🩵

Brought my daughter here last year and she really enjoyed it. Came back again this year and ended up doing the dirt trek myself with my 9 year old daughter having never been on a horse before. The Doolin Cave is a limestone cave located in County Clare, Ireland. The cave feature the world's longest stalactite, as well as other impressive geological formations. Tours of the cave are available on an hourly basis, with different times depending on the season. The property also has a 1 km long farm trail that features rare animal breeds and a cafe.
We had the best of Fun at Doolin Caves! Our Tour guide was amazing! Was about 50 minutes long and he’s been there 3 years! Be prepared for 120 steps down as it’s a little wet but it’s 100000% safe with Hard Hats provided for protection! You will have the best time of your life! It’s really worth it just for the history and also for being 70 metres underground! You truly won’t know yourself!!

Just a short drive from the Cliffs of Moher, you’ll find the stunning Doolin Cave. The journey there is as beautiful as the destination. Parking is free and plentiful. As of April 2024, the entry fee is 18.5 euros. Make sure to book in advance. We didn’t know this, but the friendly staff arranged a last-minute appointment for us over the phone. Each guided tour of the cave lasts about 50 minutes. The cave and its stalactite are truly awe-inspiring. Don’t miss out on this experience. Just a heads up: you’ll need to walk bent over for a minute or two. It’s not a problem unless you have serious back issues.

Awesome cave to go with family. €53 for a family of four with guided tour. Tour guide was knowledgeable and interactive. Tour takes about 30-60 min depending if questions asked. If claustrophobic then advice to not do the tour, you will go through narrow and low ceiling tunnels with few good stories from guide. Small restaurant with giftshop fairly priced. Plenty of parking available. Even drive from Ennis to Doolin caves is accompanied by beautiful surroundings. Small nature walk around the caves around 1 km long. And get a coffee or a tea after tour/walk to finish off the experience. Whole family enjoyed especially kids. (FYI wear something comfy and simple)

Fantastic experience! Everyone was so lovely and we had the chance to be guided by the owner John himself. The tour itself is very interesting but John's stories make you feel how it actually was back then, when the cave had to be crawled through. The stalagtite is breathtaking and a sight I definitely won't forget. Definitely a recommendation!

I loved the tour to Doolin caves , it was very impressive and the tour guide was full of knowledge and interesting facts . I would definitely recommend this tour to anyone visiting the area and some lovely bits in the gift shop. And the little loop walk at the end is a nice finish to the tour.

I live in Co Clare & I'm ashamed to say I only visited Doolin Cave today for the first time with my & friends & all our young children. The cave was amazing! We had a fantastic time & our tour guide was brilliant. The cafe wild @ doolin cave was absolutely gorgeous 10/10 with a brilliant team very impressed with our visit today food was delicious with a gorgeous menu I can't wait to go back to try more items. Coffee was gorgeous too. Go visit you won't be disappointed! My only recommendation would be if the cafe had a small kids menu too just a thought 🙂

It's a good visit if you've never been before - was our first time - but note it is expensive for what you get. Your guide was hung over on the day we visited and was clearly struggling.
The center is small with limited food offerings and a gift shop with nothing of value that I saw. There's about a 70m climb down via steps. The cave passage itself is low so if you're of average height and above expect to spend most of the walking done in a bent position.
There are some interesting facts and the stalactite is impressive. There's a bit of a walk you can do after but it's short and very little to see. You can visit the original entrance which is good to see. For some reason a lady and two children had decided to climb over the barrier on the day we visited and were just milling around in the water. Guess they wanted to scrape some extra value out of their ticket. The caves up the road are better value and larger.
David Butler — Google review
Awesome place! If you are in the area, Doolin Cave is the place you have to go to! The cave was amazing and the story of the 2 boys slithering down an underground creek for hours to find the cavern, crazy! They have done a great job of the whole area and the statutes were very cool. There are a lot of steps to go down, out of breath coming back up, but well worth it.
Marcus O'Reilly — Google review
Such an amazing history behind the caves. Two teenagers discovered the caves by crawling through a narrow opening for approximately 2 hours.
We walked the 90 minute Cliffs of Moher tour at 1330 and were able to make it here by 1600 for the final 1700 guided tour. We lucked out on a slow day. I recommend reserving a tour in advance just in case!
The cafe was closed when we got here, but they were nice enough to turn the grill back on and make us a few sandwiches and tea/coffee while we waited for our tour.
There are also beautiful nature paths to explore while you wait for a tour. The largest stalactite in the center is estimated to have been growing for the last 500 million years.

The location is just unique. In Poland, I went to the same mine caves. This one is a little smaller and ends quickly. However, the guide there provides excellent information. All things considered, you can go to this location when you visit Galway and the Cliffs of Moher.

We came mid October, and had the 11am tour. Its off season i suppose so there is plenty of parking spaces. Cafeteria was closed at 11am so make sure u get ur breakfast sorted before coming in. Souvenirs are but expectedly ordinary. Our tour guide is a nice gentleman, knows his way around the caves, offers you to take your photos as well. There is only one centerpiece of the cave, huge and very much prominent. Hard hats will be provided as there are few meters of low ceiling, but very much safe for most ages. 6 level strairs worth of climb after.
Eugene Jacob — Google review
Beautiful caves with Europe’s largest stalactite and 3rd largest in the world. A stalactite is a stone that grows down from the ceiling made from calcium deposits and takes millions of years to grow. This one has survived a couple ice ages and is very old. It grows upto 0.5mm every 10 years. The tour takes 45 min and is guided. Parking is free.

True story, the farmer who owned back in time the land where the 3rd biggest in the world (7.3m) or biggest in Europe Stalactites exist.. didn’t afford to do all excavations , sold the land and nowadays and more easily from 2006, this cave is accessible!! You have to visit when you are in county Claire or Ireland!!

It was very lovely! Cute little cafe and nature walk. The caves where nice. I was worried I wouldn't be able to do it since I have a bad hip. But I did really well. Our guide was great as well let us take pictures and showed us all the fossils that he knew of. If your worried about the stairs they aren't too bad and some of them have chairs to sit on if you need to go a little slower or take a quick break.

Amazing experience at doolin cave. Definitely a must see. Tour takes about 1 hour. You climb down about 120 steps to get into the cave. Hard hats are provided as some of the cave walls are very low. Tour guide was brilliant.

The heart of Galway is Quay Street, pumping out a rich blend of ambience, music, food, history, people, and more.
This street is one of many that stretch south from Eyre Square toward the Corrib.
When here you must take a stroll and admire the beautiful historic buildings, window-shop at one of many artisan boutiques, and people-watch from a café or restaurant.
Please, don’t miss a stop at one of the pubs along the way. This street is known for having some of the best nightlife in Galway because of its welcoming atmosphere.

If you're in Galway and looking for some great pubs, Quay Street is definitely a place to check out. It's also a great spot in the early evening, as there are plenty of places to eat and drink. The area is buzzing with activity, so it's definitely worth at least walking through if you're in Galway.
I will recommend You to take a walk through this wonderful part of the town. The Latin Quarter of Galway City extends from the Spanish Arch to O’Brien’s Bridge to St Nicholas’ Church to Middle Street and features many well fine examples of the city’s medieval heritage.

An amazing and vibrant neighborhood that you must visit when you come to Galway.
It is famous for its iconic buildings and architecture, its shops, its many great restaurants and pubs, and the “night scene” with plenty of live music and street performances. (Street performers are known as “buskers” and they perform a wide variety of local and traditional music, as well as other favorites)
Plan on spending several hours here to explore, and try to visit during the day for lunch and a drink, then return later in the evening for the “night crowd.”
It’s a very short walk from the harbor, and many people visit here after a day cruise to the islands.

We thought the area was great. Hopping with activity. Many shops and restaurants and some buskers. Definitely at least walk through here if you are in Galway.
Terri Griffin — Google review
Fun place to shop, eat, and hear live music. You can go into different pubs for evening music or wander during the day hearing street performances. The energetic and welcoming vibe was great. I loved seeing my teenage kids smiling and excitedly popping in and out of shops. It was very safe and fun.

WHAT’S GOOD?
1. This is *the* place to be in Galway. The historic charm and vibrancy of this district are sure to raise your spirits.
2. The number of pubs, restaurants, and shops along these narrow streets are sure to please everyone.
3. This district is adjacent to (within walking distance) modern shopping centers which is a great add-on to any visit if needed.
——
WHAT’S BAD?
1. The area is touristy. This isn’t really a bad thing, just be aware. It’s simply a caveat of a really great place.
——
SUMMARY: The Latin Quarter is a solid reason to include a Galway visit on your trip. It is a destination and should certainly be considered.

There are few streets full of restaurants and bar with nice looking stile and good fish and beer! The area is also full of musicians that play on the street, creating a magical vibe!
The area is quite small and gets very crowded! Definitely worth a visit

This charming street in Galway boasts a rich historical heritage and a vibrant atmosphere. Lined with captivating pubs, it offers a glimpse into the city's past. As a pedestrian-only thoroughfare, it exudes liveliness and charm, making it a delightful destination to explore.

So much to see and do. I love the atmosphere. Since it was so busy and full of people, there was a wait time everywhere we went. I had to bring my patience with me and was rewarded with Street Performers and great food.

Vibrant and wonderful place to pass an evening in Galway. We enjoyed the buskers who line the streets and the delicious smell of food that fills the air as you walk. There is a huge variety of restaurants from all corners of the world on this street and they’re all packed to the brim for dinner service.

It is such a beautiful, vibrant place. Woollen stuff and sea food are an absolute delight. Do try McDonaghs for fish/oysters. I loved the Arran sweaters and the Celtic rings. Excellent pubs around this place.

Best place in Galway. Full of pubs and shops. It is very touristic but at the same time you che feel the Irish atmosphere. I suggest you to go here at any time of the day and for sure you will find something to do, to see, to eat, to drink!
Great Location. Great Hosts. Great beds. Great showers. Fully equipped kitchen. Peacful. Safe. Car-park tight but great to have as option.
The only thing for consideration is getting a comfortable sofa as, nowhere comfortable for the parents to chill watching a movie.
Overall a great place to stay and would definitely stay there again....(there were 2 adults and 4 teens on our trip)

I still can't believe how i got this wonderful room for such an awesome price 😍 completely lived it. The rooms were super clean, their service was good. They constantly contacted from their end to make sure everything is grand for us. The best thing about this Student was that it could accommodate 6 people. Would really love to stay here again.

The Galway Cathedral is a renaissance-style Catholic cathedral that was completed in 1965. The architecture has Romanesque influences, Gothic influences, and Renaissance influences. It is located in the old city of Galway.
I visited the Cathedral on a cold & blustery day whilst waiting for my mum who was up visiting in UHG. When I walked in the door I was surprised by the space and dark walls but also the light that came through the stained glass windows and the silence even though there were alot of people walking around. Although the pews were marked out for social distance there was no problem moving in & out of them. As I had a good bit of time I just sauntered around with trying to take everything in. I met a lovely person who very kindly offered me a Miraculous Medal for my ill relative and also included him in their prayers later that day. Whilst I spent at least an hour looking at all the decorative mosaics, various stained glass windows that had been donated through the years, the model of the Cathedral, organ and various displays dotted around the i side I didn't feel rushed and probably have spent more time. It cost 1.50e to park for the hour and had no problem finding a spot but there is another carkpark accross the road where you can park all day for 6.50e

Absolutely beautiful cathedral. Came in whilst visiting the Galway area and I was absolutely blown away by the stained glass windows and enormous statues inside.
There is a ton of seating the front, sides and rear of the main alter and I’d love to visit again for mass.
The shop sells amazing items including beautiful marble rosaries and religious items for all occasions.
Definitely stop in if you’re passing by!

This is a holy place - while roaming on the streets of Galway, we came across this place and decided to explore. This holy place is a very huge worship place, it was amazingly calm and full of positive vibrations … we sat there for an hour without saying a single word and we felt like we were recharged - rejuvenated….!! There is a shop within the cathedral where all the holy books and souvenirs of Christianity are available to purchase. There is a paid lavatory too in the cathedral. It has the huge parking lot too.

What I liked most in Galway is the Cathedral and the Eucharistic adoration happening in the Cathedral Church.
It is a must visit place if you are in Galway and you will be filled with the Peace and Joy of Christ.

Beautiful cathedral with gorgeous stained glass windows, domes, arches and architecural accents. There are several different intimate areas to pray and the mosiacs are remarkable. Their gift shop has wonderful locally made Celtic crafts and religious items. A special thanks to Mary in the gift shop who was incredibly patient as we asked many questions and she helped us find the most perfect nativity scene and to Monsignor Rabbitte who blessed our nativity scene, which will become a family heirloom. The Cathedral is a must visit while you are visiting Galway! You can truly feel the presence of God. Thank you for making us feel so welcome!

I'm not a Christian by any means but I do appreciate the serenity of a location and this has it. We visited St Mary's in Dingle and that serenity was lacking. The building was more modern than expected but the colours in the dome and from the stained glass were sublime. Sometimes I envy people their faith and get the fact that buildings like this can reinforce it.
I won't be converted to religion any time soon but I think we'd be worse off without places like this where you can come and reflect regardless of your spiritual leanings.

Pretty boring for a Catholic cathedral. Nice walk there along the river, but just not much to see here. I took a picture of the liturgy schedule for Easter for those who are interested in those things.

Galway Cathedral is a stunning architectural masterpiece, with its imposing Gothic-style structure and intricate detailing. The breathtaking stained glass windows and serene atmosphere create a sense of tranquility and awe-inspiring beauty. A must-visit landmark that perfectly blends spirituality and artistry in the heart of Galway, Ireland.

Famous cathedral situated in the heart of Galway. When you see the details, it really makes you want to sit there and pray. It is one of Irelands tourist spots, and it's good that everyone can see and get amazed by the beauty of the church, but see it and respect it as a Church, not as an art museum.

What a beautiful cathedral. The stonework and colours of the marble and limestone were spectacular. It was amazing to explore the last built stone cathedral in Europe.
A well kept and loved addition to a beautiful city.

Beautiful cathedral in heart of Galway City. Adds up to the beauty of Galway. Stone and glass work inside the cathedral is a treat to eyes. Should be on the list to go when you are in galway.

The Cathedral is beautiful and it was a special day, a wedding. I had the opportunity to visit and listen to some violin music. The mosaics are amazing. You can enter for free or leave a donation.

Despite its relatively new construction when compared to thé older European cathedrals, the feeling was similar. It’s well worth the visit.
Furthermore, I found the parishioners to be friendly and welcoming. I’m not a catholic, but I sat in for a mass. I especially enjoyed the priests calm delivery and the wonderful choir.

Beautiful Cathedral! Must visit if you're visiting Galway. Entrance is free. Parking is paid. Around €2 per hour l with day max being €8 at the time of writing this review. There's another parking lot about 700m away that's €6.75 for all day. Inside of the Cathedral is spectacular and so peaceful. We parked here and visited the Cathedral and rest of town of Galway. 2 hours were enough to check it all out and have brunch nearby at Esquires Coffee.

Check the website for Mass times. What a stunning structure; inside and out! The lighting, the windows, the wood panel ceiling, the center dome above the four-sided altar! The side rooms for prayer and reflection! Just beautiful. I wish I’d been here for an Easter or Christmas Mass… I’ll bet it’s gorgeous! The choir was angelic. As an American I found the portrait of JFK a tad out of place… but, hey! when in Rome, right? Just fascinating. I could have spent hours admiring the Stations of the Cross, the detail, the ornate architecture… the building is newer than I thought (circa 1965 I believe)…but the architecture style had me believing it was much older.

Beautiful Cathedral that has a very calming atmosphere. It is both grand but very grounded due to the materials used in its construction. I found it to be a very peaceful place even with the tourists taking pictures all around. People are respectful of the space and the beauty of it shines through.

Very impressive Cathedral. One of the top 3 buildings in Ireland (if not number 1).
Would love to see the Latin Mass done here on occasion.
Salthill Promenade is a beautiful place to take a stroll and enjoy the gorgeous Irish coastline in the summer months. In addition to its stunning views, the promenade features many historic bars, little trinket shops, and yummy ice cream spots.
We loved walking up and down the prom during our stay! We couldn’t believe the winter swimmers (we call that a polar bear dip 😉🇨🇦)

There is a nice long footpath for walking. The beach is just ok for me, not that big or long. It is really lovely to walk here as the breeze from the ocean is really refreshing. You can park along the road for free.

In my opinion there is nowhere as fabulous as the Prom in Salthill. It is a fantastic flat walk along the seafront suitable for wheelchairs buggies rollerskating and kids scooters. The view is amazing and you can walk right into the city of Galway. Parking is free but difficult to get particularly at weekends. The sunsets are spectacular and if you gave never seen it then you are really missing out

My visit to the Prom was on a cold, wet & windy day but still managed to get out and walk for a while before the rain got too heavy. It was great to be able to see the islands from the shoreline. Even though the weather wasn't great, the people I met were nice & friendly and more than happy to stop & point you in the right direction or just give a suggestion on where to visit next. I hope to visit again on a better day when I have more time to investigate.

Lovely area to walk and experience Galway bay at its fullest. Lots of people swimming and diving of Blackrock. Definitely a place to visit is in Galway City only ten minutes from city centre by car
We spent a lot of time here, wandering from room to room. Very well preserved. So many nooks and crannies to explore. Old tombs and graves. Intriguing etchings on the walls and carvings in the eaves. I loved the intact pond/well in the kitchen where they once kept live fish. Decent parking for a few small cars. I wouldn't do it in a bus or van.

If your nearby, definitely worth a visit. Down a long lane, and when I was there, I was the only person there. Lovely to walk around and think about the monks who lived such a spiritual life in the past.

Free to visit. Please be respectful if you do stop by. This place is old, and amazing. It has seen some stuff, and it has much to tell. What an exquisite and awe inspiring place. Impressing ruin which offers a lot of fascinating views. Because of the narrow road, there won‘t be too many visitors, above all no busses 😁. A place full of magic, partly owed to the lots of crows living there. A must-see!
