Historic, ornate mosque with Ottoman-style architecture that can hold 10,000 during prayer services.
The "Heart of Chechnya" Mosque, also known as Akhmad Kadyrov Mosque, stands as a symbol of both faith and resilience in Grozny, Chechnya. Completed in 2008, it's one of the largest mosques in Russia, capable of accommodating thousands of worshippers. Architecturally stunning, its design incorporates traditional Islamic elements with modern features, such as its gleaming white marble façade and towering minarets.
Inside, the mosque boasts intricate calligraphy, ornate chandeliers, and a grand prayer hall adorned with lush carpets. The mosque's significance extends beyond its architectural beauty; it serves as a poignant reminder of Chechnya's tumultuous history and ongoing efforts for peace and reconstruction.
Visitors often praise the mosque for its serene atmosphere and welcoming environment, despite its monumental size. It's not just a place of worship but also a cultural landmark, attracting tourists from around the world eager to marvel at its splendor and learn about Chechnya's rich heritage.
However, some critics raise concerns about the mosque's association with the controversial political figure Akhmad Kadyrov, whose legacy is divisive among Chechens. Despite differing opinions, the "Heart of Chechnya" Mosque remains an emblem of faith, resilience, and cultural identity for the people of Chechnya and beyond.

A beautiful complex, inspired by the Blue Mosque in Istanbul. Women are restricted to the right side of the balcony, though.

Beautiful site to visit while in Grozny, Chechnya. It is called the Heart of Chechnya and is located near the center of the city.

In Grozny, on the former Lenin Square, at the Putin Prospekt, there is a mosque named after Akhmat Kadyrov. The architectural design for the building, built in the classic Ottoman style, is the Sultan Ahmed Mosque (Blue Mosque) in Istanbul. A beautiful mosque, but it has no connection with the Chechen tradition.

Spectacular design and best location. Definately "must to see" place. Truly recommend.

So nice, beautiful and I not have words to explained place.Must be seen!
You can only visit a small part of the tunnel. It is still impressive. At the end of the small part of the tunnel, there is a museum kind of exhibition to show you Georgian way of winemaking. Dont forget, you are not visiting a winery. It is a wine cave. Enjoy
Kemal Can OCAK — Google review
Thank you Mariami for being the best tour guide ever. She showed us the cave and explained very well the process and the techniques. She also had a great sense of humour! We loved the tour and we hope to be back again soon to this lovey place. Definitely worth a visit.

A must visit place if you are in Georgia if you love wine
If you don't still visit you might start loving it.
Very friendly people. Tour was really good and worthy. Over 50 thousands of bottles are stored here.

Amazing place with wonderful Garden, great staff members and perfect Wine.
you can have Wine tasting in old wine tunel. After that, you can enjoy the food- activities and later you can have a Lunch in the Restaurant with amazing view.
Teona Alashvili — Google review
Loved this place and the musical performance outside. The wine tasting was excellent and we had bread and cheese.
You also get to learn the history of wine making in Georgia and to see the tools they traditionally used.
A few things you might to keep in mind before going:
Be sure to bring a sweater or hoodie. If you forget they have red blankets.
It is a little dusty inside since it is a wine cellar, so if you’re allergic to dust (like me), take your anti histamines before you go.
Eman Moosa — Google review
That's quite a unique place: a wine cellar in an artificial tunnel.
The temperature in the tunnel is almost stable during the year so it always feels comfortable to take a guided tour where you will hear some interesting facts about winemaking.
Wine degustation is another service that you can get there and you will taste several kinds of Georgian wine, cheese, bread, and grapeseed oil produced by this company.
The staff and the guides are very friendly and cheerful.
Luka Kokiashvili — Google review

Very good winery with excellent wines and affordable tour and tasting prices.
D D — Google review
This is a nice place to visit to soak up a bit of Georgia's recent wine making history. There are a few packages, but for 16 GEL you get a brief tour and history on the tunnels and winemaking followed by a tasting of 2 of their qvevri made wines.
Qvevri is a clay vessel where they store and age their wines the traditional Georgian way. Being in contact for a longer duration with the skins of the grapes, the wine tends to be dry and full of character.
They've got classic wines as well, aged in oak casks which can carry sweeter profiles.
We took the elevator up to their restaurant on the mountainside which overlooks the whole estate.
Loh Yiren (The Polished Edge) — Google review
Great winery tour with wine testing. Interesting history of wine industry in Georgia. Also have the small classes of how to cook georgian local dishes.
เดชา ปิยะวัฒน์กูล — Google review
Good place to explore far from the main city.
Place is naturally cold without use of any Air Conditions or any other device.
You can select any activity of your choice from Wine Tasting, Wine Tour, Chacha (Georgian Local Wine), Georgian Bread making, Churchkela Making, Kinkhali making.
If you select all of above it was for 55GEL.
Guide will take you to all the places & will explain the process in details.
Overall good place to try for 1 time visit.
Mehran Wandrick — Google review
Good tour but there are way better and cheaper tours with more in depth talk about the Qvevri style wine making and wine Tasting
Ali Soufi — Google review
A great experience that got marred by an impatient, condescending guide.
When we initially arrived, an English speaking lady and gentleman attended to us. The lady told us to wait for the buggy to bring us up to the lunch venue, while the guy helped us understand some of the wines available to purchase - he even asked what winer varietals we are used to, and he consulted a resident wine expert as to which Georgian wine varietal would be as similar in profile. Both were very hospitable.
After lunch, we'd been assigned another English speaking lady for the tour (in photo). The tour started out well, but soon after, this lady started speaking in a condescending way, ostensibly because we kept asking the same questions (qvevri winemaking is new to us, and we struggled to understand some of her English). As an example, I asked what happens after fermentation. Her simple answer was, "winemaking". I pressed her further on this vague response, and she retorted that she's just a tour guide, not a winemaking expert. I left not knowing how ageing in a qvevri is any different from ageing in a wooden barrel.
As another example, she seemed exasperated in explaining several times that all qvevri wine is dry, and cannot be sweet - despite not elaborating the reason, which is that the fermentation process is complete (vs partial), and the lack of any sugar left behind means it cannot be semi sweet. This, we learnt from another winemaker tour instead. This fact is not intuitive for someone who's not a wine expert, who's new to qvevri winemaking, and who sees many semi sweet and dry varietals available for purchase - descriptions not usually seen in European wines.
Lastly, even a simple fact about the wine cave was not accurately conveyed - she mentioned that the cave was constructed between 1959 and 1965 - she even repeated this fact as I missed it the first time around. I browsed the site later only to read that it was completed in 1962 for a global Wine and Dine conference. It's simple dates for a key element of the tour.
As a whole, I feel the cave is an interesting element, the tasting prices are reasonable, and most of the staff very amicable. The tepid rating is for the lady in particular, whom I hope you do not have the misfortune of being assigned.
Sighnaghi Wall, built in 1762 and later reconstructed, surrounds the town with its stone walls, towers, and grand arched gates. Climbing onto the wall offers stunning views of Tsnori town and the valley basin. The narrow cobblestone streets, colorful houses, and wooden balconies make Sighnaghi a picturesque spot for day trips from Tbilisi.
Historic place with narrow path. Make sure to take car till the starting point or else you will end up walking back to the starting point which is steep. Especially during mid day you’ll sweat out and not recommended. Otherwise it has good views and history behind
Karthik Kolipaka — Google review
If you would like to get some wonderful views, it's worth a visit. A few stairs later, you need to walk on a narrow lane. We did not walk the entire length but stopped midway to enjoy tea and snacks at a nearby local cafe. Also, do try the Georgian Lemonade that comes in a green bottle.

Those who love trekking and adventures with not much efforts and risk free this is the place for you 😀. The is the boundary wall of an old fort. The pathway needs maintenance, some places are steep and slippery. Use proper shoes and expect some climbing. The watchtowers are not maintained well, however we can feel the brilliant architecture. You may find some berries plants with fruits, taste the wild fruit. The fruits are refreshing. The view is marvelous, try to visit in the morning..

Historic place. Great views. Unmissable but you steep climbs, narrow paths with extra high and uneven steps so need to be extra careful
Vispi Edibam — Google review
Very cool to walk along the wall while you look at the Caucasus. There is a women at one of the entries to the wall called Nino and she will push you into letting her tell you a story about the wall, and afterwards demand money. So watch out for her. Other than that it is a cool place to visit while you're in Sighnaghi

Ancient town walls with parts that you can walk along. We wanted to see if you could walk the 4km loop but most of the wall is inaccessible

Another wonderful view we can see in Signagi . Truly amazing nature. It’s a narrow way to walk around the wall and the city but it’s a unique experience
Mathew Abraham — Google review
The first impression I had even when I looked at the surrounding perimeter of these city walls was to look at the great Chinese wall, but of course not so big and tick.
It's good to know the function was still the same, protecting the outpost where people from the bottom valley were finding shelter when attacked.
A little walk on the wall lasting no more than 10 minutes gives still a good view and great photo memories for your album.

2nd longest wall around the city of sighnaghi, a good place to visit. As i was told, it is around 4.7km long. Rented a self driven buggy led by a guide on another buggy. It was a nice experience. Overall, it was a good experience.

Signaghi is a pleasant and colourful town, with a commanding view of the Alazani Valley and the mighty Southern Part of the Great Caucasus Mountain Range.

Whichever side you enter Sighnaghi from, the city wall always stands out. The four kilometer long wall with 28 towers provided protection against invaders from the 18th century, today it is one of the city's most striking tourist attractions.

The Signagi Wall offers a captivating glimpse into Georgia's rich history and stunning landscapes. Encircling the charming town of Signagi, this ancient defensive structure provides not only a sense of security but also serves as a testament to the region's architectural prowess. Walking along its cobbled pathways, visitors are treated to breathtaking views of the Alazani Valley and the picturesque Caucasus Mountains. Whether you're a history enthusiast, a nature lover, or simply seeking a peaceful stroll, the Signagi Wall promises an unforgettable experience.
The Bodbe Monastery, a Georgian Orthodox monastery and nunnery built in the 9th century, is situated on a hillside and offers breathtaking panoramic views. It is conveniently located within walking distance from Sighnaghi town. Visitors can indulge in winery hopping, exploring stunning churches of Kakheti region, or simply relaxing while enjoying local food and drinks. The monastery's main building may be relatively new but its chapels and gardens are magnificent.
Absolutely stunning monastery. The large building is pretty new but it’s gardens and chapels are just absolutely stunning. You can though it’s new it’s still on my favorite monasteries in Georgia.❤️

What a beautiful place with 9th century built.
Especially interior part.. one of the most impressive small exclusive church to be respected and visit.
Interior has beautiful mosaic wall in one of altar. Super thick wall to warm the space , candle light that made the interior charm. Interesting seating for nun and those century function still well kept inside.

Beautiful Orthodox church where St Nino is buried. There is a spring down for which there's a trail. Descent is easy but ascent is a bit hard. My tour guide said that the water is miraculous and has healed many even to the present day. The Caucus mountains are behind. Such a scenic place.

The tranquillity of this spiritual place is unique in the world. Don't miss the purification and healing experience down at the saint Nino spring. You will feel reborn after the experience bathing. In spring and summer the blooming roses and flowers draw such beautiful colors. Not to miss if you are in the area.

This is very calm and beautiful place , with nice blue sky.
You can spent some quality time enjoying the garden around . If you wish you could also attend the prayers and light candles .
Gardens are well maintained and pleasant.
There is a holy spring near by, where you have to trek around 2 km through tough unpaved and steep ups and downs. When you reach there don't expect anything very big, but just a small pool of water. Very small inside a room

An absolute must-see in the Kakheti region. The monastery itself is beautiful and you can also find St Nino’s church on the premises as well as hot springs. I especially recommend to visit the monastery’s shop as well, where the sell various products made on the grounds of Bodbe, such as berry jams, honey and various spices. There is a parking as well for 3 GEL, very comfortable when you travel by car.

Monastery a few minutes from the town centre of Sighnaghi
Well manicured gardens and a terrace next to the new church (still being built) overlooking the valley below
No photos allowed inside the churches
Worth a visit on a sunny day and if you're visiting Sighnaghi
Unique 6th-century monastic complex carved out of a cliff & set against a desert landscape.
I can see why the monastery was built here, peaceful and in the middle of nowhere. Well maintained and still possesses the feeling of peace and tranquility. A great place to meditate or pray or simply soak up the feeling of the place.

This a must to visit in Georgia on the guides, papers and internet.
Unfortunately it was a deception for me: most area was unallowed to visit because monks privacy.
Too long trip for so little to see.
I visited in January. May be in spring or summer would be possible to visiting more places in the monastery.

One of the most astonishing place I've went to in Georgia. The monastery itself is sumptuous and with the surrounding coloured mountains, it's absolutely gorgeous! You'll need your own transportation to get there tho.
Bambino V — Google review
I personally wouldn’t recommend it to people that only have a few days in Georgia, for the distance from Tbilisi it’s not worth it. When you arrive at the site there is no information about it. I imagine the closed part, must be the part that people enjoyed? The striped hills are very pretty. If you live here, it can be a nice day trip if you’re in good company.
Charlotte Heffer — Google review
Stunning views of spectacular hills. The drive to the monastery is all very accessible roads. No tickets needed to enter the monastery, but be aware that there is not much in the area, so it's recommended to bring drinks and snacks, (and 0,50 for the bathroom). For those who are a little agile, there is a small cave up the hill with an altar, but it's a little climb. The view of the monastery is great from that hill.
(!) You might walk into some military since you're really close to the border, but everyone I walked into was really friendly.
(!) Be aware there are lots of venomous snakes in the area, so watch your step if you go off trail.

The road to David Gareji is stunningly beautiful, admiring such landscapes, you willy-nilly catch flashbacks from memories from Altai and Tajikistan, as well as Tuscany and Scotland. A place where time goes slowly. You don't want to talk at all, you want to breathethere. Definitely a place of power and divine beauty.

Visited the place in January and was fully covered in snow. The place looked so beautiful with snow covered all over.Monks are still staying there and this place is absolutely peaceful
Surayya Rahman — Google review
✨️A secluded monestary that still houses monks. There is no need for 4x4 completely paved roads. ✨️
A free to enter monestary that is pretty closed off to society. They don't allow you to see much due to the monks living there. So you really only see the grounds and the church. Though the grounds are beautiful.
I'd suggest you take a walking path by the smaller house by the entrance (not the one with the museum shop) and hike a short way up. You get a better view of the monestary.
Though, be careful as you will meet Georgian border guards with guns, but they are friendly. They tell you that you can go a little bit further to the small water structure but must come back immediately.
Its is worth the drive. The surrounding area is nice and might be nicer than the actual church compound.
Dylan Filkins — Google review
Absolutely stunning. Must visit when in Georgia. Entrance and parking is free. There is a dress code when visiting the monastery. Covering knees, shoulders is asked. Nobody's checking but please be respectful.
It's not possible to visit the monastery across the border unfortunately. The ones you can visit are gorgeous.
The views of the landscape are also beautiful!

Great place relatively close to Tbilisi. An important historical testimony of the past and present of this marvellous country. It is possible to go in and around and up the hill. I would recommend to go by with an English speaking driver who can tell and describe the importance of the place (price for European tourists should not be so high and negociable) There is also a fantastic view over the Rainbow Hills and a shop where to buy beautiful souvenirs made by the monks. The Holy Trinity Cathedral of Tbilisi is a stunning religious complex with an impressive Georgian Orthodox cathedral, bell tower, monastery & seminary. The church was built in 2004 and is a recent development in Georgian Christianity. The foundation of the church was made with rocks taken from the Jordan River and Sion mountain, as well as soil from the Mt. Hermon area. The cathedral features beautiful stained glass windows and has become a popular tourist destination due to its after-dark images.
Very beautiful place. Clean, quiet, big territory. You can walk freely outside or sit for rest. Inside also a lot of site and you can't even feel if many people. High ceiling. For Orthodox Cristian people this is place really famous and valuable. Georgian pride, glory.

A Canadian Tourist Review: It is the most beautiful attraction in all of Tbilisi! There will be two women begging for donations outside, but you can donate at donation boxes inside. It is very well lit at night, and it has a large exterior but a relatively small interior. The grounds around it are beautiful too.
Oh, and free entry! Highly recommend!

I have been told this is the biggest Cathedral in Tbilisi, and I must say it looks absolutely stunning, especially at night.
My recommendation? If you want good pictures of the Cathedral itself, GO AT NIGHT (after 10pm, on a weekend)! However, at this time the inside of the Cathedral will be locked, and you will not be able to enter. Not only goes it look spectacular, but its super peaceful. Its free to enter as well (at least at this time).
Must see if you are in Georgia, as there is a lot of history in this Cathedral.

Marvelous piece of work !! Looks really incredible. It’s a must visit site. Maintained very well. This is the main cathedral of the Georgian Orthodox Church located in Tbilisi. Constructed between 1995 and 2004, it is the third-tallest Eastern Orthodox cathedral in the world and one of the largest religious buildings in the world by total area. Approach from the back entrance to find a suitable parking space.

This Cathedral is so stunning & impressive whether it be day or night - you can see this from afar because of its top of the hill location. This was the first go to in my list. Picture perfect, amazing attraction- surrounded by a beautiful garden & benches to sit.
You need to cover up if you wanna come inside- for ladies FYI.
A must visit ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

You simply can't miss this massive cathedral as it dominates Tbilisi skyline. Its listed as one of the largest Orthodox churches in the world. As you admire the impressive stone structure it looks modern as it was only completed after 9 yrs in 2004.
Traditional Georgian architectural details still abound with its archways and central dome which is Georgian. I had the pleasure to be present during Sunday mass to see the devotees in worship and the Georgian chant was very uplifting.
I loved this church so much, I came back at sunset to see it lit up in all its glory.
The entire complex is massive. Pics on the inside not allowed and there is a small gift shop at the front.

I had the opportunity to visit a church in 2022, and it was a truly uplifting experience. The atmosphere was serene and peaceful, providing a sanctuary for reflection and contemplation. The architecture and artwork were breathtaking, with intricate details that added to the overall beauty of the space. Surrounding the cathedral are lush olive and grape trees, enhancing the serene atmosphere of the complex. A picturesque fountain adds to the tranquility, making it a perfect spot for contemplation and reflection.
While the exterior is a sight to behold, the interior is equally impressive. However, it's important to note that photography is not allowed inside the cathedral, respecting its sacredness and the privacy of worshippers.
Inside the complex, there are numerous chapels, each with its own distinct charm and purpose, adding depth to the spiritual experience.
Overall, the Holy Trinity Cathedral is not just a place of worship but also a symbol of beauty, tranquility, and reverence. A must-visit for anyone seeking to immerse themselves in the rich cultural and spiritual heritage of Tbilisi.

Amazing views of Tbilisi from the top and it was much bigger than expected. We were fortunate to visit when in service, the tenors singing created a magical experience.

Want to avoid the stairs? Just walk along the side of the stairs. I looped go the right of the stairs walking past roses, lavender, grapes and then eventually a pink stone chapel and then I was on level with the church. It was a much more peaceful and shaded way to see the church and it made me notice more pieces like the patterns on the back of the church, and there’s a grape patch behind the church. A happy way for strollers and wheelchairs to go!

I had the opportunity to visit a church recently, and it was a truly uplifting experience. The atmosphere was serene and peaceful, providing a sanctuary for reflection and contemplation. The architecture and artwork were breathtaking, with intricate details that added to the overall beauty of the space. The service was reverent and filled with a sense of community and spiritual connection. The welcoming congregation made me feel right at home, and the sermon was thought-provoking and inspiring. Church is definitely worth it.

Built in 2004, the Holy Trinity Cathedral which is also known as Sameba Cathedral is the main cathedral of orthodox Georgians in Tbilisi.
The architecture is really beautiful and the interior is magnificent. I really recommend that you visit during the day and night, and during the night specifically if it was raining.

Very impressive modern cathedral - seems a bit sterile at first, but is certainly well attended on celebratory occasions. There is a large park all around that invites you to take a walk and offers a great view of this monumental building at every corner.

I had the pleasure of exploring the Holy Trinity Cathedral of Tbilisi on my recent visit to Georgia, and it was nothing short than astounding. Clinging to its rightful position as the tallest church in the country, the cathedral imbues awe and tranquility that extend beyond the edge of its solemn walls.
The architecture is simply breathtaking, showcasing a divine blend of modern and traditional Georgian styles. From the exterior, you're instantly drawn in by the striking contrast of the luminous domes against the vibrant sky - every detail and finish on the edifice is carefully curated, a testament to the skilled craftsmen behind this architectural marvel.
Stepping inside, the ambiance shifts, manifesting a resounding serenity that is equally as remarkable as its imposing stature. The interior glows with firelit candles and elegant Orthodox icons, craftily captured in both gold and silver hues. It brims with a soothing spiritual energy - a haven for those seeking peace and solitude.
For photography enthusiasts, the cathedral provides an absolutely splendid backdrop. The natural lighting, coupled with the intricate detailing, creates a myriad of opportunities for both amateur and professional photographers. Don't forget to bring your camera along – you'll be left astounded at the spectrum of extraordinary vignettes up for grabs.
The Holy Trinity Cathedral of Tbilisi is more than just a religious monument - it's an emblem representing the cultural fusion of Georgia's history and its thriving modernity. A must-visit location for travelers and locals alike, this grand beauty affirms its stature in a harmonious blend of architectural charm, spiritual resonance, and pictorial delight.

One of the best place in Tbilisi. It is free to visit. We visited at day time but it looks very nice from city center. You should visit there for sure. We went to inside from up side, it was easy to find a park place and to walk.

Visited here in the late afternoon on Saturday with drizzle. Architecture of this church is beautiful and unique and more beautiful when light is turned on at night. There was a merit ceremony when we were getting inside the church. The smell from candles and incense was quite strong. It would be better if the weather is fine, however it’s worth to visit. Luckily, we were able to take a photo from my hotel room at night, how wonderful is it?

An absolute work of wonder! We had the grand opportunity to witness the great work people has put in its architecture. It is not just a cathedral but a statement to Georgians unwavering faith and human engineering. It is also full of old artifacts inside and everything in it just works! A must visit when you travel to Tbilisi, and you definitely cant miss it since it can be seen wherever you are in the city!
Aerial tramway in Tbilisi offers a spectacular view of the Kura River with the Bridge of Peace spanning it. Operated by Tbilisi Cable Car, the tramway is popular with tourists for its views and is fun for people of all ages.
The ticket is not expensive at all. I don't have metro card, but I'm able to buy a card from the cashier. The cable car give a nice view of the city and the old town. It doesn't move to fast or too slow, which is great. One thing i don't like is that there is no officer here, so when the cable car arrive, you have to know timing, get in and get out by yourself.

The cable car experience in Tbilisi was fantastic! For just 5 GEL per person, you can enjoy a round trip that takes you up near the iconic Mother of Georgia statue. The view of Tbilisi City from the top is absolutely breathtaking, earning a round of applause!
While there, be sure to treat yourself to a delicious Chimney cake and browse through the variety of souvenirs available. It's a great way to cherish the memories of your visit.
To make the most of your experience, I recommend visiting before 10 am to avoid the crowds. Additionally, parking space is conveniently available right below the station for a fee of 3 GEL.

A ropeway that takes you to Rike Park on the east bank of the Mtkwari River and Narikala Fort, which is about 450m above sea level, up a steep slope from the west bank.
Not only is the view from the ropeway good, but by climbing up the ropeway and walking down, you can see where you are walking in the old town looking down on it from above, making it easier to get a feel for the area if you ride it at the beginning of your walk around the old town.
The price is ₾2.5. You have to charge your Metro Card, which can be shared on buses, marshrutkas, and subways, but you only pay the initial fare when you board any transportation system, so you don't need to buy multiple cards for each person, and you can use one card for multiple people.
I've ridden it many times, but the other day I was petting a tame stray dog in front of the ticket office.
He followed me past the ticket gate, and eventually got into the cabin on his own without even hearing from the staff.
There is no doubt that he habitually travels between Rike Park and Narikala Fort by riding the ropeway for free.
A friendly stray dog that followed Mother of Georgia even after arriving at Narikala Fort. This is the Tbilisi dog experience.

We took it at night then again during the day.
The views are really nice, you get to see the entire city. It takes you up to the fortress, botanical garden, and mother of Georgia statue.
It costs 2.5 GEL per ride per person; 5 GEL for a roundtrip. They also charge you 2 GEL for the card unless you already have one. Multiple people can use the same card. I would recommend you get the round-trip ticket to avoid waiting twice in line.
It's approximately a 3-4 minute ride to get to the top.
I would recommend you experience it at night as it was more beautiful and waay less crowded.
I'm giving it 4 stars because there's no organization, and they don't separate the lines between those who have tickets and those who want to purchase ones, so it tends to get a bit messy.
In general, this is a nice activity to do if you're in town.

Also cable car up there doesn't run at the moment. Superb place to visit. Excellent location and Georgian architecture. Ancient buildings and outside so many traditional shops are selling Georgian items. We bought a few. Traditional buildings and houses are so good and colorful. The location is good and there is a very large area. Tall buildings constructed by big stones and mud. The church inside was so good and peaceful. We need more than one hour to look around this place. The view point is so good. 40 min drive from Tbilisi.

Probably one of the most beautiful places in Tbilisi. After wandering the streets leading up to it, it offers a dramatic view of the city. What I really liked (though kinda dangerous) is that you can roam freely inside amd on the walls by day and by night. I rrally loved how one can linger as long as they want and just enjoy the view or take great pics. The site is accessible by cable car as well, but I think going on foot adds to its charm if you are a hiker.

Narikala Fortress is truly a historical marvel offering panoramic views of Tbilisi. This ancient stronghold not only provides stunning vistas of the city but also serves as a testament to Georgia's rich past.
Dating back to the 4th century, Narikala Fortress has withstood the test of time and witnessed countless events throughout history. As you wander through its ancient walls, you can feel the weight of centuries of stories and battles.
The fortress is easily accessible by cable car, providing a convenient and scenic journey. While entry is free, it's advisable to visit in the morning to avoid the crowds and fully immerse yourself in the ambiance of this remarkable site.
From Narikala, you can explore further and visit the iconic Mother of Georgia statue, a symbol of Georgian hospitality and strength, as well as the peaceful botanical gardens, adding even more depth to your experience.

Fortress looks impressive from the city (especially at night, with the lights) but when you come on the hill it appears, that those are mostly walls and ruins. There is a church inside, but it’s not very different from others. There are of course nice views on the city from here. Walking on the walls could be entartaining (But it’s good to know, that they are not well prepared for visitors. For me that was no problem, but there are no safety measures, sometimes you have to even climb to go further, so that could be dangerous and problematic for people with limited movement skills - I can’t imagine it in the late evening, when aerial tramway is still working). It’s good to see fortress if you’re already on the hill, but I recommend more visiting Botanical Garden which is right next to it.
Mateusz Kostrzewski — Google review
Very impressive fortress area with quite a few things to explore such as, the Mother of Georgia, the recently restored St. Nicholas church, a waterfall, a botanical garden, and more. You can occasionally see a couple dogs and maybe 1 or 2 cats too. I’d recommend to go in the mornings or winter time to avoid other tourists as much as possible. Also make sure to wear comfortable shoes.
Definitely come here if you want to quite a good chunk of the city and at night it looks extra spectacular. You can get up to the mountain by the cable car or walk up stairs or uphill from 2 sides. 1 side is right next to the Mother of Georgia. The other side comes up next to the St. Nicholas church.
Also know that when going to Narikala and the area, it is walkable and all but there are still ruins and if you’re not careful you could trip or injure yourself.

**Exploring Narikella Fortress: A Glimpse into Tbilisi's Rich History**
Nestled atop a rocky promontory overlooking the bustling cityscape of Tbilisi, Narikella Fortress stands as a silent sentinel, guarding the secrets of Georgia's storied past. Visiting this ancient stronghold is akin to embarking on a journey through time, where each weathered stone whispers tales of conquests, sieges, and cultural exchanges.
Upon approaching the fortress, visitors are immediately struck by its imposing silhouette against the backdrop of the Caucasus Mountains. The winding path leading to the entrance is lined with vendors selling traditional Georgian handicrafts, providing a tantalizing preview of the vibrant culture awaiting within.
As one steps through the weathered gates, the atmosphere shifts, transporting visitors into a bygone era. The expansive courtyard, once a bustling hub of activity, now echoes with the footsteps of curious explorers. Here, amidst the remnants of ancient structures and crumbling walls, one can't help but feel a profound sense of awe at the resilience of the human spirit in the face of adversity.
Ascending the worn stone steps, visitors are treated to panoramic views of Tbilisi's sprawling metropolis below. The juxtaposition of old and new is striking, highlighting the city's evolution over centuries of tumultuous history. From this vantage point, it's easy to imagine the strategic importance of Narikella Fortress, commanding not only the city but also the trade routes that crisscrossed the region.
Exploring the labyrinthine passages and chambers within the fortress is like unraveling a mystery, with each discovery offering new insights into Georgia's past. From the remnants of ancient weaponry to intricate frescoes adorning the walls, every corner holds a piece of the puzzle waiting to be unearthed.
One of the most poignant moments of the visit is standing atop the fortress walls at sunset, as the golden hues of the evening sky cast a warm glow over the landscape. In that fleeting moment, it's possible to glimpse the timeless beauty of Georgia, a land shaped by centuries of triumphs and tribulations.
However, it's essential to acknowledge that Narikella Fortress, like many historical sites, bears the scars of time. While efforts have been made to preserve and restore the fortress, there are areas where the ravages of nature and neglect are evident. Nevertheless, these imperfections only serve to enhance the authenticity of the experience, reminding visitors of the passage of time and the fragility of human endeavor.
In conclusion, a visit to Narikella Fortress is a must for anyone seeking to delve into the rich tapestry of Georgia's history. From its commanding views to its enigmatic ruins, the fortress offers a captivating glimpse into the past that is sure to leave a lasting impression on all who venture within its ancient walls.

There are simple toilet facilities and a little cafe on site as well. You can even see Armenia across the way from the ruins.

One of the largest cities of the period, it is said to have a population of 100 thousand people. It is a very beautiful place, fascinating but there are many missing points. We walked for about 3 hours on average. The temperature of the weather makes the trip a little difficult. I wish there were long descriptions in front of the ruins. There is definitely a need to work on environmental cleaning and organization. Entrance is 100 TL, but you can get a museum card. There is also a discount for students for the museum card, which costs 60 TL per person. The fact that we can use it in other places is also a plus point. You are next to the Arpaçay River, which separates the border between Turkey and Armenia. The flags of the countries are waving on both sides, but of course, nothing compares to the nobility of the Turkish flag...

There is a convenient bus from the centre of Kars that takes you there for 60 TL return. It currently leaves at 9am from next to the Chocolade Boutique. Great day trip!

Worth the visit, if you like history and exploration you’ll need good 3-4 hours maybe 6. You just don’t want to leave. If you don’t care much, you can walk it in 1-2 hours.
More than 4000 years of history here!

Exceptional site - is more like an open air museum rather than ruins. Do consider doing a guided tour as the site is huge and full of many ruins some more some less obvious to the naked eye. Highly recommended.

Şehitler, Şehitlik Caddesi No:87, 36000 Ocaklı/Kars Merkez/Kars, Türkiye
The Castle of Kars is a reconstructed fortress on a hill overlooking the Kars River, first built by the Saltuk Turks in 1153 and later destroyed by Tamerlane in 1386. It has been rebuilt several times since and contains a variety of structures such as a Janissary barracks, an arsenal, a small mosque, and the tomb of Celal Baba who died during a Mongol attack. The castle offers stunning views of the city below and surrounding mountains.
This castle, built in 1152 by vizier Firuz Akay by the order of Sultan Melik İzzeddin during the Saltuklu Principality, is a monument not only made of stone and brick, but also bearing the traces of history and emotions. Here are my feelings and thoughts while wandering around this fascinating building:
When I started to tour the castle step by step, I was impressed by the atmosphere of this place intertwined with history. The solidity of its stone walls symbolized the power of time and the durability of this masterpiece created by human hands. When I walked in, I felt like ghosts of the past. All the events that took place here, all the words spoken here were felt as living memories in the marks on the walls.
This castle is not just a structure, but also a personality that has witnessed the lives of many people. Saltuklu Sultan Melik Izzeddin's idea of having this castle built was perhaps a reflection of the power and magnificence of his time. Timur's destruction, III. Reconstruction by order of Murad, destruction by Shah Abbas I of Iran and subsequent repairs; all these reflected people's devotion to this castle and its historical importance.
While visiting the castle, I couldn't stop myself from thinking about the flow of history. All the events that took place here and the efforts spent to repair this castle help us understand the history of humanity. People fought, repaired and rebuilt to defend this castle. This castle represents the resilience and determination of humanity.
Castle walls are a place where history speaks loudly. The coldness of the stones makes this structure, which has been the silent witness of centuries, even more impressive. Walking among these stones feels like a meeting with the past. It seems like there is a story under every stone, a period of time hidden behind every wall. This castle, like time itself, is a monument that bears the traces of past experiences, and witnessing this monument was a magical experience for me.

Cool castle! You get a great view over pretty much all of Kars. Has some information plaques in English too. But there were pretty much no security measures, a lot of open edges and windows with big drops. Also quite a bit of littering, and the top of the castle was locked off. Still, it's free and the view is great, so go up and get a nice view of Kars.

Wow wow wow!!! This is a must if you visit Kars. Allow 90 to 120 minutes to wander around. Take a camera and snap away. We visited in January 2022, and there was snow on the ground. There is a little tea shop at the top, but although it was open, we did not grab anything to drink/eat.
It got really cold when the sun set.
There are toilets available.

Night time is not recommended. A parking area has been allocated for the camp, but it is far away, there is no lighting and there is no fountain. The mosque is locked at night. The weather is minus at night and the wood you can make is wet and humid. Lighting is a must.

I think this is one of the overrated places. Maybe is beauty during summer and definitely not in the winter. Whoever wanna visit, please avoid during winter time. It is a bit difficult to get there, hence i join the tour. Is around one hour + away from Trabzon city centre. Spend a day trip also not too bad, unless you have many things to do, then overnight can be an ideal. During winter almost 85% shop is close. But there is theme park and some others things you could do during non winter time. View from the top deck is a bit far, then walking around the lake is pretty. Wanted visit to mosque, but it was close at that time. The cutest things i discover is their cinema beside the lake, however also close during winter. There are many shop, hotel, and restaurant surrounded this lake.

The Soumela Monastery is a museum showcasing the religious history of a monastery that was active for centuries until 1925. Although it has reopened after extensive maintenance, visitors must prepare for a challenging trek from the parking area or pay for transportation. The entrance fee is relatively expensive at 75 tl, and there are no food courts available on site. The steep and narrow stairs may pose difficulties for elderly or unwell individuals.
Be sure to wear comfortable shoes. Use the restroom before you get on the shuttle. If you’re in the area it’s definitely worth seeing. Others may not think so much. There’s no food court at the monster sorry and the stairs are quite steep and narrow. Elderly or poor health may have a lot of trouble.

Beautiful monastery, the renovations are still on but we can still see some beautiful frescoes.
Today November 6th, the weather was very nice; it was showing 12°C but the feeling was 15°C.
The entrance per adult 125TL, but the parking is 4km away from the monastery that you can go free by walk. But you need to pay fees for the parking and optional shuttle bus to go upstairs.
Believe me....worth it!
It took us 1h visit all overall.

It has very easy access and is at the entrance of the parking lot. The price of the entrance ticket is reasonable, which is actually the cost of the transfer to the main place of the church, but the price of the entrance ticket to the church is somewhat expensive for foreigners. A place to go, it's almost magical, first the road to go there is very good, the landscape is amazing, going upstream the river between the mountains.
Once you finally arrive onsite you have to walk 350m (if you took the small bus) in a peaceful environment, berry green and very beautiful.
Then you discover the monastery, it's being restored, the place is very clean and in good condition.
The paintings are well preserved, except the faces as usual. If you're on the area, it's a place to go.

So many stairs to go up to the actual place. walking on stairs for 10 minutes up and down to go reach. once you reach you buy tickets and go up another set of stairs. The time i visisted it was so crowded we took 30 minutes after getting our tickets just to go in. Check for weather, if it’s cloudy everything will be foggy and you won’t see anything. also note that the stairs inside the monastery are very small and are very tall. no space for your foot to fit and the distance in height between each step is very unusual. It’s very tiring for people with regular stamina. if rainy avoid going because some paths to go to the monastery are rocks with no proper steps. It was very slippery when i visited i’ve seen countless people tripping and falling

About 50 minutes away from Trabxon, the sumela Monastry is tucked high up in the mountain tops. There's signage all the way from trabzon through to the monastry. It is a pleasant drive and very easy to find. I particularly enjoyed driving through the town Macka. Once at the entrance, purchase an entry ticket to the museum then continue driving to the parking area. You'll have purchase a bus ticket as that's the only way to the monastry. It can be quite crowded at times, but the historic architecture makes it well worth the trip. Exploring the monastry takes anywhere between 40 minutes to an hour. It depends on how deeply you immerse yourself in the incredible history as well as marvel at the ancient monastry. I recommend visiting this place as it gives you a glimpse of the past and allows you to appreciate the history. Wear comfortable shoes as There's quite a bit of walking to be done. During the winter and early spring, temperatures plummet, so carry a jacket. It's quite nippy despite the walking.

You may walk for almost 350 mtrs from the parking area or pay a car fair about 10 tl.

It was a tiring road to the monastery itself but it was worth it. From down the mountain there are vans ready where you buy a ticket there and back it is a reasonable price and they take you to a certain point where you then take the stairs to the monastery. A lovely monastery that has been beautifully restored. What I miss is that they would possibly put a view terrace on the mountain opposite in the future.

Awesome, unique place. Professional photographs of this place are much more stunning than what you may experience. It's not easy to get a good vantage point outside this place. Most of the tour is behind the facade facing the valley. However, the ancient church and icons are amazing. This place is a national treasure for Turkey. I only gave it 4 stars because it is so commercialized and controlled. You have to pay to park, pay to get a ride up, pay an entrance fee... And the hiking trail is closed if you want to enjoy the nature a bit. I would not travel to the Trabzon area for this place alone. Worth putting a trip together if you can string together multiple sites/activities in the region.

Very beautiful piece of history and amazing how this structure exists high in the mountain. Be prepared to do a lot of walking here and if you come during warm weather bring a hat and water. The hard walking is worth the view from up top. I definitely recommend coming here if you are in Trabzon.

Very beautiful historical place, you need to choose the right time as weather may obstruct you from seeing clearly the place and the surroundings. I went at around 17:00 and spent an hour there. Road is very good and well maintained, unlike other tourist attractions in Trabzon. You need to be ready to walk and climb ladders which might be little hard for those who are not used to do frequent exercise. Noticed they put 300 TL sticker on entry ticket price whereas the original price is 125 TL.
Overall it is worth the visit and it is one of the top 5 attractions that you should visit while you are in Trabzon.

A lot of history here, but its a money making place. You pay 450tl (£12.85) each to get in. They then charge you to use the toilets and the cans of soft drinks are 3 times more expensive than anywhere else.
Vandals have carved their names in the frescoes and defaced a beautiful piece of history. It's set high in the mountains, and is very scenic

We went there in summer, if the sky is not cloudy be ready for hot weather. Recommend to wear sport shoes as you will be going up and down on wood and stone steps. As you reach there you have to park you car for fees and then ride minibus for 27 lira per person takes you close to Sumela Monastery and then you walk on steps for 350 m. If you want to enter you have to buy a ticket for 450 lira pp. Facilities: there are cafe and WC down where you parked, also before the entrance. Make sure there are too many steps (old people should be careful for their health condition)

We visited mid-June 2023. 300TL for foreigners / free with Museum Card. We arrived as it opened (0800). There are two car parks (30TL per hour) - we parked at the one just outside of the main part (you cannot take your car to the top) and bought a return minibus ticket (55TL for two). You can of course walk the 3km to the top and back for free.
There are a lot of steps and the climb is not always gentle. Wear good trainers. Get in as it opens and ignore the first little Monastery on your right. This means you can get to the frescos ahead of the crowds and take the photos you came for.
There is a cafe and some toilets (you pay to use them) and some seating too.
Bottom line - it is well worth a visit, but get there early to avoid the crowds.

The view alone is worth the visit. The drive to the location is well sign posted and takes you through some nice locations. The site itself is well maintained and nicely laid out. Tickets cost 45 lira i believe and headsets cost an extra 30 lira. It's worth getting a headset to get the full experience. There's a nice museum before you head over to the dig site. A bus takes you to and from the dig site. There's a cafe and gift shop too. Best to use the toilets within the main building.

The drive to the site from Gaziantep was easy and enjoyable, with well-maintained roads and picturesque views of green and yellow flower fields along the way. Upon arrival at the museum, I rented an audio guide and listened to the informative introductory audio about the ice age. I then opted to walk the approximately 1 km up to the site, although there are also frequent shuttles available for those who prefer it. This destination is truly a must-see, boasting some of the most astonishing archaeological discoveries of our time. With ongoing excavations expected to cover an area equivalent to 17 football fields, the site promises endless fascination and exploration.

This is one of the most significant archaeological sites in the world, dating back to 12,000 years ago when man were still palaeolithic. The site dates back to pre-pottery and late pottery periods and had been hypothesized to be a critical location that led to the agricultural revolution. It is quite small but we'll laid out and you are able to walk around the site in a circle. Absolutely stunning and a must visit. I don't advise getting the audio guide.

Göbeklitepe has contributed a great deal to our understanding of hunter-gatherer life, animal husbandry, agriculture and livestock migration, sacred architecture and the birth of art. It was abandoned after it continued to be present around 8000 B.C and it was not used for other or similar purposes.
THE OLDEST RELIGIOUS SITE IN THE WORLD
The most interesting findings at Göbeklitepe are the t-shaped monolithic pillars which can reach 6 meters in length and 40 tons in weight. Even though six of these pillars were excavated, geomagnetic measurements found there are round 20 pillars in total. These mysterious pillars were lined in a circular plan with stone walls in between. The pillars make up a round or oval enclosed space surrounding a pair of big pillars in the center of the structure.
Most of the pillars have human, animal or abstract symbols. In addition to these oldest reliefs carved into the stone, three-dimensional animal reliefs are also found. The pillars with hand, arm and finger motifs on its body is interpreted as human statues. From the welcome area the excavation site is reached in one minute by shuttles. The animation and information in the entrance are the kind that can't be missed. The excavation area, which is divided into A, B, C and D, is surrounded by a walking excursion route and its top is closed.

Gobekli Tepe
A 12000 year old structure has been excavated in Turkey close to the Syrian border in Sanliurfa region. The period of the structure falls in the Pre-pottery Neolithic era, about 10000 BCE, when the hunter-gatherers had started settling down probably in the beginning of the agricultural age. The structure was supported on huge ‘T’ shaped stone pillars. Some say that it was a temple orientated to the constellation of Orion. There are figures of birds and animals carved on the pillars. There are distinctly recognizable figures of fox, boar, sheep, duck, vulture, a lizard like reptile, and a tiger like predator.
The excavation so far has been marked in six segments from A to F. A B C & D segments are under the big roof while E & F are outside the big stadium like roof. The efforts at conservation of the excavated area are remarkable.
There’s a museum in Sanliurfa where the excavated artifacts are displayed. In one section the T-shaped pillars are arranged and covered with a ceiling in a prototype of the temple. The best attraction in the Urfa museum is the URFA MAN.

Wow wow wow! We’ve traveled extensively throughout Turkey and visited many ancient sites. This place has been very well planned out, very informative and well designed. There has been reviews about the shuttle bus taking a long time. We did not experience this. It was fast and very efficient. We hope in the future to visit again and see all the progress they make in uncovering many more things!

Fabulous archeological site. Beautifully presented and although work is in progress, was still able to view what has been discovered. A Neolithic wonder about 11,000 years old. Well worth the long travel to see the ancient carvings on the T pillars.

I am most impressed by the unity of man and nature depicted as proto-zoomorphic gods, whose attributes are attached to the human-shaped monoliths. These were times when man was one with the macrocosmos - before organised religion, before states and empires corrupted man with power.

Oh my…beautiful. What a place. My brain struggles to take in the fact that man / womankind designed and built this place not that long after the last ice age. I also was shocked to find out this site is one of many in the area. I am so happy I can say ‘I was there’

A must see if you are in south Turkey. One of the most ancient archeological finds in human history Gobeklitepe span a 12000 years of time. Definitely worth the drive. Easy to rent a car and drive there even on your own. Not need for tours. I did this by my self, rented a car in Adana and slowly got there, stopped in Gaziantep for one night, then drove to Urfa the closest town near the site where you can also visit the famous pools of Abraham

Zero point in time! A Neolithic place that dates 10.000 BC it changed some of the common beliefs about prehistory. Excavations started in 1995 , it makes 30 years but only 30% of the site is opened.

Göbeklitepe is a journey back to the very dawn of civilization, an archaeological wonder that challenges our understanding of human history. This UNESCO World Heritage Site, approximately 12,000 years old, predates even the Egyptian pyramids and Stonehenge. Its massive, T-shaped pillars, beautifully engraved with reliefs of animals and abstract symbols, evoke awe and curiosity.
The visitor center provides a comprehensive introduction with a replica of Göbeklitepe, introductory films, and various souvenirs. Although some visitors have noted the site could benefit from more detailed information about the steles and the society that built them, the sheer antiquity and mystery of Göbeklitepe compensate for this.
Göbeklitepe is easily accessible from Sanliurfa, and it's recommended to visit between April and October for the most pleasant weather. Comfortable clothing is advised due to the region's warm climate. Whether you're an archaeology enthusiast or just curious about ancient civilizations, Göbeklitepe offers a unique glimpse into a forgotten era of human history. Its significance lies in its status as possibly the world's oldest temple, a testament to the ingenuity of our hunter-gatherer ancestors
Orzujon Ahrorov — Google review
This place has impacted me lot. Some people there said it is only stone, nothing to see but for me it is impressive. Knowing that this place is 12 thousand years old and people were still hunters during that time, it is not clear how they architected and built this temple. I even thought extraterrestrial beings helped humanity to build this site. Because agriculture started after this time. I still don’t understand how hunters built something beautiful like this site 12 thousand years ago because building large temples requires coordination, society and money. It is the oldest known temple and human settlement. It changed human knowledge on our evolution. Definitely must see.

The hospitality exhibited by the entire staff, with a special mention to the receptionist Mr. Mostofa, at Balıklıgöl Otel is truly remarkable and leaves a lasting impression. The level of professionalism displayed by Mr. Mostofa is highly commendable. The worst hotel I’ve ever stayed. The photos are misleading. I wouldn’t have stayed here if I had seen the room before I paid. I made a mistake not to book another place beforehand and we had to stay here. Don’t get me wrong I am not a fussy person. I stayed in hostels before. I travelled with my backpack for years. As long as the ad is correct and the place is clean I have no problem but this hotel is not a 3 star hotel and it is not worth 600lira.
The towels were stained and the shower was not clean. Entire floor stank.
The breakfast was not good. The plates were dirty and the butter was left under the sun and melted so I didn’t even try.
If you are too desperate and do not want to stay in your car you can go there and spend the night but no way pay 600lira like I did.
There are lots of hotels in the area and they are pretty good for a little bit more money.

Mt Erciyes is a 12,851-foot peak renowned for its ski resort and hiking and mountaineering opportunities. The mountain boasts of an incredible skiing experience at a reasonable price with plenty of slopes to explore. Weekdays are the best times to visit as it's less crowded. It's highly recommended to visit in February for more snow and fewer stones. The skiing area spans an impressive 102 km length of slopes, making it one of the finest skiing destinations near Kayseri.
Accidentally or incidentally saw this place on our drive from Kapadokya (Cappadocia) to Kayseri airport to catch our flight back to Istanbul.
Seeing the beauty of Erciyes backdrop, I decided to cancel my flight ticket back to Istanbul and ended up staying 2 nights close to Mt. Erciyes.
What an absolutely beautiful place,
There is a telefrik that takes us up mid way for a mere 15 TL/person (or 0.4 GBP) .
Up there is a small cafe that sells reasonable snacks, tea, coffee amongst other food items like lahmacun.
Adjacent to the telefrik entrance are shops that rents out ski equipments for very reasonable rates (compared to other ski resorts worldwide).
They also rent out the tiny ski boats (looks like a much smaller snowmobile, but this is manual) for very nominal rates.
Also there are a few cafes around with lots of options to eat/drink.
Absolutely recommended for a maximum 2 days stop over.

The Hatay Archeology Museum is a must-visit attraction, showcasing a remarkable collection of local artifacts from ancient times. The museum boasts an extensive display of Roman and Byzantine mosaics, depicting nature and human life across different periods. Its colossal size befits the historical significance of Hatay, making it a unique destination for history enthusiasts. Visitors are captivated by the conceptualized rooms and sections, setting it apart from other Turkish museums.
One of the great museums you can ever visit, huge and divers collection. Can't be missed if you in Antakya visting it is a must. However, it needs minimum two hours so make sure you have enough time when you go there.

An impressive museum with a variety of exhibits about the area's very old history. I have been to many museums in Europe and this one could easily be in one of its capitals. The finds from the Hittite period are particularly impressive, as is the quality and massiveness of the mosaics from the Roman period. Worth it!

Very nice museum. It has the biggest Mosaic collection in the world. Plan to spend at least 2.5 to 3 hours. It has a nice cafe to relax inside the museum as you exit. Parking was an issue for us. Besides the amazing mosaics spend some time at th sarcofagus section.

I couldn't imagine the amount of historical and archiological findings in this area. The museum was a trip to the history of the rigion. Amazing collection pf mosaic and marble sculptures. It is a must to see for Hatay visitors.

The Church of St Pierre is a significant historical site located in Antakya, Turkey. Carved into the side of Mt. Staurin and dating back to 1100 CE, it is one of the world's first cave churches and holds great importance in Christianity. It is believed that St. Pierre held the first religious meeting here to spread Christianity, making it a center of Catholicism and a pilgrimage site for Christians. The church also houses a museum and offers stunning views of the city.
Very old and historical church. Located on the hill so you have to walk to the top. The access if very easy. Actually, the inside is just a cave. I think the attractiveness is the rich-history behind this building.
Muhammad Luthfi — Google review
Entrance fee currently the equivalent in TL of €8 but free if you have a museum card.
To be honest there's not a lot to see. Ten minutes max, which is disappointing given the significant impact of the Antiochean church in early church history.

This place, although is small, should be visited for the historical value that it has. As the first church in the world, and another historical site in a city that dates back to the first civilised city-states of the world. It is better to have the museum card as it gives access to all museums and historical sites of Turkey for 1 year.
W Rose Gac — Google review
The church is a small hall in the mountain. You need to know a bit of history and significance of the place to enjoy the atmosphere, have a look at the city view and tolerate the groups of religious tourists ( not to mention a rather expensive entry fee)
Take your time to go around the church (opposite direction of the main entrance). You shall find an amazing number of tunnels dug in the mountains and the figure carved into the mountain. Unfortunately, the path is not marked and cleaned, but it is definitely part of the amazing history where people had to prepare escape ways to flee religious persecution.

It was surely an amazing piece of nature but the waterfall ways were filled with mass of concrete and dozens of restaurants and vendors are now sorounding the water. Some restaurants placed their tables right into the water so you can cool yourself both drinking and having your feet in icy water. The overall concept is kinda vulgar, the trash around isnt being collected properly so you dont want to walk away from the main routes. The decoration of some places is quite absurd... combining everything... Anyway it was a nice walk and we cooled ourselves after superhot Antakya.

The Stone Bridge was constructed around 200 A.D. and spans the Seyhan River. It remained open to traffic until 2007 and is still standing today. The bridge exhibits a simplistic yet stunning design, in contrast to modern bridges. On the opposite side of the bridge lies the old town and Ataturk museum, which are worth exploring. There are also several charming cafes and ice cream shops nearby, as well as street vendors selling various items like prayer beads and underwear.

A beautiful, well-preserved bridge. You can stroll to the other end and back, just as people have done for many hundreds of years. A view of the huge mosque to the north makes for a nice view. There's not too much to do at the bridge, so I'd recommend next heading towards that mosque through the riverside park on the west bank there, as the nice part of town is in that direction. Though beware of aggressive beggars and peddlers at the mosque.

The waterfall is wide and beautiful, but the part we liked the most was the friendly atmosphere from the locals.
There are picnic tables set up around the viewing site and they were packed with local people coming here to have a picnic breakfast, and were also singing and dancing, in fact they invited us to share their breakfast and dance with them.

The atmosphere is nice. The staff were very attentive. Good thing is it iwas closed or else we won't enjoy the place. The salad was good and it was fresh. Love the cake it was very moist.
I also like the view.
Overall I recommend this place.

Perfect park for everyone to spend their weekend or leisure time, either alone, with friends or family. You can walk along the coastal area and enjoy the cold breeze sea air. There's also a mini amusement park, benches and swings.

Excellent service. We love coming for breakfast here. Tasty food, attentive stuff and a beautiful location by the water. There is an administrator here that speaks fluent English and is super friendly and professional. You could recognize him by a moustache.
PS: if you like strong, dark roasted coffee, you need to try it here.
PPS: our bill here was always correct, unlike other places.

Surprisingly nice and clean area with lots of restaurants and shops. Definitely one of the best places in Mersin.

Nice marina with plenty of nice shops and restaurants. Staff at the entrance barrier are very kind and helpful. Nice walk along the promenade into Mersin. Would defo recommend this place during the day or evening fir a meal and walk around the shops and look at the boats.

This a beautiful shopping center with lots of cafes and an amusement park. The yachts and shops give the impression of luxury, but the prices are affordable. I like the vibe of the place. Unfortunately, there was garbage (plastics) floating in the water, and I can't understand why people ignore the garbage problem. I'm not happy with the littering problem here in Mersin, but I won't just complain. I will do my part to clean up this beautiful town and educate others about keeping the environment beautiful.

Amazing experience! Crazy road, it’s not safe if you have a simple car 🚗. The road is not good but it’s worth to do. A lot of emotions

One of the most breathtaking places.
Share this experience with the donkeys running around there.
They don't understand Greek or Turkish, and they really like the people coming in peace, and ..of course.. their food.

Stunnig beauty of the Mediterranean. Be there for the sunrise or sinset and your heart and soul will be forever locked to that horizon line. The golden sands shine like crystal in the sun and an amazing place to fully experience the beauty of this island. The road is quite bumpy and old, and narrow. You need to think about what car you wanna drive to the top of that area. You'll see the beautiful donkeys local to this island. Don't freak out if they push their heads through the windows of your car. They are used to receiving fruit and carrots from visitors. However, do not leave the kids and babies unattended around them. Afterall, the donkeys are not domestic though sociable.

Subterranean cavern with stalagmites, stalactites & a reflective lake, accessed by boat or on foot.
Breathtaking views scenery both outside and inside must see. Entry fee as of today was 19TL definitely with it. I recommend once inside cave go all the way down first then slowly come back up enjoying cave views as straight up can be tiring. Great lake view at bottom.

These caves are a must visit if you are anywhere near. They are massive and truly one off earth natural wonders. There are so many large stalactites and stalactites and columns and there is lighting there to show them off. It's a long way down but there is a clear water lake at the very bottom. There is a man made metal stairs to the very bottom and it's 320 steps back up to the cave entrance. It's very warm in the caves. Big free car park, tarmac road to get there. There is a coffee restaurant and toilets and the ticket price is about 24 lira.

An amazing view opens up before your eyes - green trees, blue waters and high rocks. The colors are stunning, the height - impressive.
Going into the cave you feel a sudden heat wave, the lights are dim and the oxygen is low. There are quite many stairs, but it's worth it once you see the astonishing beauty of the cave structures. There is a crystal-like shining layer over the rocks.
At the bottom you see a crystal clear lake witb rocks reflecting from its calm waters.
It's the most beautiful cave I've ever see! ❤️🇹🇷🗻

This is the most beautiful cave I have seen so far. The entrance is located on the wall overlooking the sea and you have to go down the stairs in order to reach it. Once inside, the number and size of stalactites will take your breath away. You just have to go deeper and deeper, across open areas and small path until you reach the amazing lake that lies at the bottom of it. If you are driving around Southern Turkey, don't miss the opportunity to visit this cave! The entrance fee was less than 2€.

This cave is amazingly beautiful and the management has done a very good job of making it accessible. The entire length of the attraction, from the top of the hill to the bottom of the cave is paved with metal walkways with rails and great traction. Myself and many of the other guests were fat and out of shape but it is still easy to get to the bottom and back to the top again if you take a slow pace. It is very hot and very humid inside the cave so you will get very very sweaty. I recommend bringing a second shirt you can change into before leaving.

A longer drive from Mersin than Heaven & Hell caves but so much better! If you go early you can enjoy the cave all to yourself (or almost). Definitely worth the trip!

Super cool seaside cave 🌊🦇🤩
This cave is pretty remarkable because it's a stones throw away from the Mediterranean Sea but as you go down it's winding corridors you actually stumble onto a small underground freshwater lake that's crystal clear turquoise blue 💙🔵💙
I honestly don't think I have seen a cave quite like this one as far as sheer size of the chambers of the cave as well as the actual size of the structures inside of the cave goes 🤯
Going down the rusty staircase of death which brings you from the cliffside down by the ocean into the mouth of the cave You get some pretty great views of the coastline and a phenomenal little sunset viewpoint 👌👌👌
I really enjoyed climbing around this big bad girl and the giant lagoon in the bottom of this cavern was the icing on the cake 💝🌠😍

Beautiful limestone formations though with lots of stairs - 568 steps going in and then you start back. That does not count the ramp leading to the stairs. The fee was very reasonable. The blue pool at the bottom is beautiful and clear!
