Idukki Arch Dam is a striking structure nestled between two mountains, boasting a hydroelectric power station and offering breathtaking views. Nature & Parks
Hill View Park is a well-maintained and attractive park with lush greenery and a diverse array of blooming plants. The admission cost for adults is 20 rupees, and the highlight of the park is its panoramic view of the Idukki Dam, as well as beautiful sunset views. Additionally, there are numerous activities available at an additional cost, such as pedal boating that would be enjoyable for children. The friendly staff also maintains clean restroom facilities within the park.
The best view of Idukki Dam is from here. Amazing location. We were the first visitors of the place on that day and that made the place extra beautiful. Very calm, and only the sound of always on wind. The wannabe photographer in me was extra happy as I was able to take some decent photos of the wonderful Idukki dam and reservoir and don't worry about others getting disturbed by me. Even at 9am, the wind helps us from the heat. There were some adventure activity options, but we weren't interested in those. For me, it's one of those place you'll enjoy without the congestion of crowd. If you can reach by the time the place open, it's the ideal time to spend some time here. If you want to enjoy the view of Idukki Dam, I don't think there is a better place. One of the must visit places in Idukki. P.S - If you are not familiar with Idukki Roads and not following Google map navigation, the deviation from main road can be missed easily, although it's the same route as the Idukki Dam entrance. So make sure you don't miss it. If the Idukki dam is open for tourists, you may see a lot of vehicles in this direction.

Hill view park is a great place to visit for nature lovers and thrill seekers. The park offers a variety of safety adventure rides, such as zip-lining, rock climbing, and bungee jumping. The view from the top of the hill is breathtaking, especially at sunset. The park is well-maintained and has friendly staff. I would recommend this park to anyone looking for a fun and memorable experience. ⭐⭐⭐⭐

A well maintained park, from here you can enjoy a great view of Idukki Dam and Cheruthoni shutters. To access the view point on has to climb up. The place is maintained well, nice parking, and clean restrooms. The star attraction of this place is their adventure activities like zip line, sky cycling, giant swing, gun shoot. You can also visit the nearby government boat cruise, however that place rides happen only when 10 people book, so you would have to wait.
Tawa n Table — Google review
The park is beautiful and well kept.entrance fee is 20 rs for adults. We can see a panoramic view of Idukki dam from this park, that's the highlight. The view of sunset from here is also really nice. Lot of activities including boating is there (with separate charges for each and kids will enjoy it. The staff were all friendly. What I felt the best is, the toilets inside the park is kept neat and clean. It's worth visiting the park.

Hill View Park, one of the Idukki tourist places, located at a distance of 2 km from Idukki Bus stand, is a magnificent and well-managed park. The park, stretching over 8 acres enthralls the visitors with hundreds of varieties of crotons, flowers, medicinal plants, and other woods. The Hill View Park houses a natural water body, where visitors can enjoy boat rides. The view from the watchtower of both the dams, Idukki and Cheruthoni, the surrounding hills on all four sides and the lush greenery takes the breath away. The Park remains open throughout the year and can be accessed through gentle slopes, though it is stationed at 350 ft above the level of Dam water. The herbal garden and children’s play area add appeal to the Hill View Park.

Enjoy a breathtaking panorama of the Idukki arch dam and Cheruthoni shutters. Accessing the elevated location may pose a challenge for senior citizens. The ticket prices are reasonable, and ample parking space is available. The dam view is exceptionally beautiful, complemented by exciting adventure activities. The restrooms are impeccably maintained.

This is a nice place to view, u can view this place free of cost but there are thrilling activities which are paid 100to 200 rs. Sky cycling, boating, etc. Dam view is very beautiful here. Once visit is enough. But nice to travel this high mountain area. Amazing. 👍

Entry fees is Rs 20 Then for every service inside there seperate charge. But this is good nature walk and capture the beautiful dam in Camera Good place of kids. Kerala Govt is developing one hill in districts wherever is possible as tourist attractions. I saw the same in Mallapuram and here.
Rahul Gupta — Google review
Great place to get wonderful view of the Idukki Dam. There are some adventure rides and boating. All were closed by the time we reached around 5:30pm. The children play area was small and of less use for kids. Expected many things for kids but not much available.
Saravanan A — Google review
I highly recommend Hill View Park for a fantastic and memorable adventure in a beautiful natural setting. Whether you're an adventure enthusiast or just want to enjoy the stunning Idukki dam, this park offers something for everyone. The park is well-maintained, and the staff is friendly, showing Kerala government's pride in it. Clean restrooms also contribute to the great experience. Don't miss this amazing destination when you're in the area!

A lot of adventure activities such as Giant swing, zip line, adventure tower, gun shoot, Burma bridge, sky cycle, rappelling, pedal boat, commando net, bungee trampoline, kutta vanchi etc. available. A small snacks bar is there. Lot of resting places available. An entire view of idukki dam is available from here.

Excellent place. You get a magnificent view of both Idukki and Cheruthoni dams from the top of this park. The cool breeze and the majestic view of the water reservoir are amazing. There is a park for children. Certain adventure rides are also there for enthusiasts.
Manu Sebastian — Google review
A park on a small hill with views of Cheruthoni and Idukki dams. There is an entry ticket and then separate tickets for any adventure activities inside. They have zipline, river crossing, archery etc. Toilet facilities are available inside which is maintained well. There is some area near the guest house, but it's better to park on the road down the hill as there will be congestion when you go out.

If you are ever visiting Idukki, then this one is a must visit place. It's a network of 2 dams, Cheruthoni Dam and Idukki Arch Dam. The Arch Dam situated between the two mountains is a site to behold. The height of both the dams will amuse everyone. One can get a nice scenic view from top of both the dams. There is a small tunnel at the end of the Arch Dam. There is a also cave in between which you don't wanna miss NOTE:- The entry to the dam is restricted at times so before your visit do make sure it's open. Mobile phones are strictly prohibited when visiting dam, either leave them in your car or else clock room is available

The Idukki Dam in Kerala is a marvel of engineering, standing tall amidst the lush Western Ghats. The vast reservoir it creates is not only a vital water source but also a picturesque spectacle. The surrounding landscape, with its mist-covered hills and dense forests, adds to the dam's allure. Visitors can enjoy the scenic drive leading to the dam and appreciate the panoramic views from various viewpoints. The dam's importance in water management and power generation further enhances its significance. However, it's advisable to check the latest conditions and access restrictions before planning a visit.

Nice place but no mobile phone rule is just stupid. Still the view is heart touching and magnificent, top view with panoram. Beats everything. It's cool tourist destination

The Idukki Dam is a double curvature arch dam constructed across the Periyar River in a narrow gorge between two granite hills locally known as Kuravan and Kurathi in Idukki district, Kerala, India. At 168.91 metres (554.2 ft), it is one of the highest arch dams in Asia. It is constructed and owned by the Kerala State Electricity Board. It supports a 780 MW hydroelectric power station in Moolamattom, which started generating power on 4 October 1975. The dam type is a concrete, double curvature parabolic, thin arc dam.The Indo-Canadian project was inaugurated by the Prime Minister Indira Gandhi on February 17, 1976. Great place to visit with your family and friends... there are 2 dams, Cheruthoni and idukki dam... when i visited, there was not that crowd... but sometimes we can expect some crowd... one of the famous dams in kerala, highly recommended to all....

I recently had the opportunity to visit Idukki Dam, and I was very impressed with its size and scale. The dam is truly a marvel of engineering, and it is a testament to the ingenuity and skill of the people who built it. The view from the top of the dam is breathtaking. You can see for miles in every direction, and the surrounding mountains and valleys are simply stunning. It is a great place to relax and enjoy the natural beauty of Kerala.

You are not allowed to carry your mobile phone or a DSLR here so you have to leave it in your car outside the dam entrance. There is a shuttle service from Cheruthoni dam to the Arch dam every hour and costs around 100 per head. You can get a better view of the arch from the Hill View park located nearby.
Sijo johnson — Google review
First of, no phones or any electronic items are allowed into the dam area (there's a counter at the entrance to store the items). The entry fee is at 40rs per person (24-05-23).The dam is only open on the weekends. One can start from the Idukki Arch Dam and walk till the Cheruthoni Dam. But since the walk till the Cheruthoni Dam is long if there are people that can't walk long distances, it is advisable to take the cart service provided. It costs around 600rs for 6-7 persons. It is said that you can see the ground used in the movie "Maheshinte Prathikaram" from on the way to the dam(not exactly from the dam, on the way to the dam, after getting the tickets). There is also a boating service in the dam, but for that you'll have to go to another spot close by. The boating is fun and safe. Boating costs 150rs per person. We went from the dam to the boating site by an auto and it cost us 200rs. Just ask anyone for the bus timing and how to get there, people will guide you. The boating tickets needs to be taken from another place by the main road and not at the place of boating, so keep that in mind. The boating is till 04:30 pm only, but if the weather is bad they might close it early too.
