Mountain peak
Thangalpara, located in Vagamon, is a picturesque destination with a unique spherical rock formation. Situated 2500 meters above sea level, it holds spiritual significance as the former residence of Sufi Saint Sheikh Fariduddin. The area offers stunning views and is considered a popular pilgrimage site in Idukki district. Accessible through a thrilling trek with steep slopes, Thangalpara provides an awe-inspiring panoramic view from the mountaintop.
Went there on a rainy day and i saw this. It was an awesome experience❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️. The wind was so high that my umbrella got bend. So an advice dont use umbrellas while climbing up. It was soo foggy that i couldnt see anything 4 mtrs away from me. Climbing up the mountain was a risky task. The security closes the gate for entry to thangal para early, like around 4 or 5, if its a rainy day and if there is too much mist and fog. Also the time to stay at thangal para will be limited to 1 hr then.

The trucking is worth. Finally you reach the top, a true beauty of the land unfolds. You would feel like sitting there for hours. At distance, you see a vast greenery and a water body in the middle. That's just amazing!!! (The ticket fair is low. Take a bottle of water. You won't get anything on the mountain.

Loved it . Its trekking. But didnt feel any tiredness. We were fully active after reaching destination. The fog covered us totally. And rain too.. it was so cold and so nice. I really loved it . The views from each place was awesome. Must visit place.

It's one of the most attractive TOURIST DESTINATIONS and as well as a Muslim pilgrimage in the vagamon of Idukki district and it is situated at an altitude of 2500m A Sufi Saint, Sheikh Fariduddin, is also believed to have lived on the hill till he died about 8 centuries ago. The stone is believed to be used by the saint. After his death, the stone grew in size. The tomb of the saint is located just next to this unique stone.(reference from Google) Thangalpara is a scenic attraction well-known for the unique rock formation on the top of Thangal Hill.

It's a mountain peak with a beautiful view. If the climate permits, a very nice spot to visit. But one needs to climb up the mountain which may not be easy for all. Elderly people are not advisable. The spot is open from morning 8am to evening 6pm. Entry is stopped by around 5pm. It is also a religious place that belongs to muslims.

Nestled in the serene hills of Vagamon, the Vagamon Pine Forest is a manmade forest with acres of steep slopes covered in magnificent pine trees. This pollution-free attraction offers tranquil nature walks and opportunities for photography under the towering conifers. It's also a popular spot for picnics, offering a peaceful ambiance with the soothing sound of wind.
Visit this spot in winter. Walking in pine forest in cold climate is amazing.
Explorer Of The Infinity — Google review
The pine forest with its mighty old trees was picture perfect. You should visit this place in early monsoon and late monsoon. The way the moss covers the tree trunks are something out of a fairy tale. The place has a mystic sense of beauty and adventure. The parking is wheelchair accessible but that's it. The minute you step into the forest you gotta be able to trust your legs and lungs. The climb down is easy and fun, you could go all the way down to see the creek that flows gently right beneath. But the climb back up is bound to break those sweat glands and give your lungs a run for their money. But don't let that keep you away from its beauty. As they say, the most beautiful places require the hardest climbs.

I visited Wagamon Pine Forest last February 14th and there were lot of people there. It was very hot weather on that day Parking we got from a place 10 minutes walk away and Parking was charged at Rs.30 rupees 🌲 forest entry ticket fees was 10 rupees per person, kids not charged ! On the way to pine forest we can see many shops from where we can buy things and there is a facility for photo shoot inside the forest It was a good experience

The huge forest cover of Pine trees make up for a lovely sight. You can spend as much time here. Most tourists find this place relaxing and use their time here to relax in the lap of nature or stroll down the hill, it's a beautiful experience being so close to nature.

Crowded during weekends otherwise so calm cool place.Beware of slipping and falling down in stepping in dry pine leaves..Parking is limited..Lot of shops with toys , Tea etc
AMEEN — Google review
It's a good sight to see the pine trees in abundance. It's pretty hard to walk through the forest. It's slippery. Nothing much of an ambience. It's crowded nowadays. You can click some photos and come out that's it. My advice is not to carry camera as they charge 100 rs for camera alone whereas only 10 rs for entry. You can click pics on mobile it would be more than enough. If you are first timer then you can spend some time sitting between the trees in some log.

Pine valley forest as it is known and called is located on the right side the road when you are nearing Vagamon when coming from Elapara. Just after the main gate of Kerala Veterinary and Livestock University is this place. There is a paid parking place or try to park along the left side of the road while coming from Elapara. There is enough parking space on the left side of the road in front of the University campus which is greenery. The entrance fee per adult is Rs. 10/-. You have to walk 200 mtrs from the entrance to reach the pine valley. There are a lot of way side shops where you can buy home made chocolates, sweets, tea dust or tea leaves etc. I suggest buy home made chocolates only after eating a piece as most of the these chocolates are not at all sweet. Mostly good for diabetes people as it is not sweet but can be eaten with the feeling it is chocolate. Inside the pine trees campus you have to walk down the hill fully covered with pine trees and so can stay out of the sun rays and heat. Better to visit during afternoon if you are on a one day tour as it gives relief from the hot sun which you experience visiting the Vagamon meadows and Thangalpara etc. If you are visiting Vagamon on a one day tour or plan to leave Vagamon via Elapara towards the end of the day I advice to visit Pine Valley towards the end of the sightseeing as from pine valley you can leave directly to Elapara. There is a Kudumbasree Hotel at the entrance of pine valley where you can get homely food at moderate prices. Happy sightseeing

Good place to visit. Pleasant climate once we enter the forest. Steep and uneven pathway to walk. That's a small difficulty for some people. Else good place for photography. Lot of shops from entrance till forest. We can have snacks, buy things for kids and adults and much more.

one of the most famous things about the Vagamon hills is the pine forest. Vagamon Pine Forest is a region with acres occupied by magnificent Pine trees thriving in the environment on steep slopes which is very unique to the region. This man-made forest was created during the British era and today also it is standing tall and beautiful. Even at noon, when the sun is very strong, the heat of sun does not penetrate and keeps the land very cool. It is worth taking some time to relax in the middle of pine trees enjoying the cool weather

Murugan Mala Entrance is a significant site for Hindu worship, featuring a rock-cut replica of Lord Murugan's forehead. Accessible only by foot, the entrance leads to a short trek along a natural trail on the mountain. This serene spot is an important pilgrimage destination and home to an ancient stone-carved temple. Located near Vagamon city center, it offers stunning 360-degree views and is often visited by hiking enthusiasts.
It is an adjoining entrance of kurisumala and Murugan Mala area. From far distance one can see the sculpture of peacock. Comparatively less pilgrimes climp this mountain. It seems on the first day of every malayalam മാസം people are asked to climp here. It is a symbol of inter religious culture of kerala community. There is also another mountain alotted for the Muslims.

Beautiful location to spend the afternoons. Worth visiting during or post monsoon as the meadows would be lot greener. Tickets cost Rs. 25 for adults and Rs. 15 for children above 5 years. Ideal place for kit flying and you can bring one or buy it from a shop outside for Rs. 100 or 150. Every meadow has a lightning arrester as the area is prone to heavy lightning. Other activities within the meadows are - zip lining, sky cycling, kayaking, kids pedal boating etc. A small parking lot available in front of entrance which will be filled soon and you will have to rely on street parking. Toilets available near the entrance. Lot of shops outside the meadows selling snacks, kites to knick-knacks. Adjacent to this place, you have other public meadows which don’t incur any charges but most of the crowd is here. Don’t litter and spoil the nature.

These meadows offer a picturesque setting, perfect for leisurely walks. The presence of a zip-line adds an exciting element, and the option for boating on the river enhances the overall experience. Families with kids will appreciate the designated play area. However, it's advisable to avoid visiting on public holidays due to challenges like limited parking availability and long ticket queues.
