It also offers live streaming of its services so anyone interested can attend from anywhere in the world!
Lovely building with great history. An old church what else can I say apart from I haven’t been inside yet. Oh I like the lighting and flowers on the outside.

Was only here to sit an exam as business centre next door experiencing issues. Bought upto date while retaining character. Hot a little distracted by stained glass windows while in middle of exam

I was there on Easter Sunday and thankful I was there. God used the songs, the messages and the prayers to touch my heart. I will certainly visit again the next time I am in Leeds, UK. God bless you all.

Attended St George’s for a conference run by Mosaic Church, Leeds. The venue is excellent. I love that St George’s will welcome other churches to use their building.

Stamford Park

Mentioned on
Park
Nature & Parks
Stamford Park is a picturesque recreational area that features revitalized rock formations, an artificial lake for boating, a water display, play and athletic zones, as well as an aviary. The park caters to families with young children by offering a sandy playground and diverse entertainment options for older kids. Stamford Park is large enough to provide quiet spots for picnics while also providing refreshments at its small cafe.
A lovely traditional park with lots to see and do. The park has good play areas for the little ones which includes a water fountain play area in the summer months. A lovely coffee shop in the centre of the park with an ice cream van present near the play areas for most of the warmer months. There are also bowling greens, a duck pond and aviary with various types of birds to look at. Worth a visit if you're in the area and an excellent way to kill a few hours for free.

Nostalgic visit to a park i frequented as a child. Sorry to see birds and rabbits are no longer there, nor were the beautiful rose beds, but the tree planting instead looked lovely. Duck pond brought back many memories. More improvements to greenhouses much needed.

Nice place to take the little ones. Playground for the very young on a 'beach' and good selection for older kids. Big enough to find a quiet place for a picnic and have a wslk and little cafe for refreshments. The duck pond needs a bit of work and a couple of areas were a bit scruffy.

Always a great day out in Stamford park. Well known for its play area, water fountains and little diesel train tour. Away from the play equipment there is a beautiful hidden gem - a nature walk with a river and waterfall features as well as the boating lake, which you can walk round.
Rebecca Woollam — Google review
Beautiful park with lots of fun for kids.
Saira Bano — Google review
I visited on my return journey from Glossop and called off to reminisce journeying as a young child. I saw the ducks in the fenced off pond as well as the abundance of grey squirrels looking for food everywhere. There is a cafe for refreshments etc as well as washrooms facilities. A busy and child friendly play area can be utilised and I recommend you take time if you can, individually or with family to enjoy it's characteristics.

Not been to Stamford Park in over 30 years, and only one building i remember from childhood remains standing is the John Nield Conservatory which is abandoned in use. It was a giant greenhouse. i have forgotten that it has bowling green, gardens, a bird house with various birds. In addition the park has its own dingle - a woodland area, childrens play area, gardens and even the old statues etc. Stamford Park Pavillion has a cafe where hot and cold drinks are available and maybe snacks are readily available for purchase. Toliets are situated within the pavillion, but you need to check opening times accordingly. i spotted a land train circulating the grounds which handy but dont know how often it there or cost. overall a nice little park for families, groups and friends

Not been in about 15 years (been living down under) it's still as lovely as I remember. Super clean and well kept, volunteers there doing their bit, bowls on the green, kids playground and water play is great And The dog loved chasing the squirrels and rats down the dingle

The park is great place to visit especially if you have got some small children there are lots of great grass for them to run about there are plenty of things for them to do like slides swings there is a sand pits there is a small lake it is shallow there is a small river and whilst your there, there are plenty of squirrels so take some nuts so you can feed them( they come up to you). There is a boating lake aswell i think it only opens at summer, allso there are some great tennis courts, and a mini golf course, and more nice things and a great day out with your family forgot to say there is a mini train ride for thr children. Enjoy!

Came over to see the granddaughter & she wanted to go to the park so we took her. First time we'd been because we live the other side of the country. This is a little oasis in an urban jungle. There's the usual park fixtures, such as swings etc but there's also a series of fountains for the kids to keep cool in. There's quite large onsite café as well as the usual ice cream vendors. The park is really large, has a little train to take you on a tour, yes it really is that big.

I love this park! I visited for the first time. Lots of on street parking however if it gets full there are car parks close by and really cheap - around £2.00 for all day! Can pay cheaper for less amount of hours too. The park provides a little train ride for all families to enjoy around the park - a small charge of £1.50. They also have water sprinklers where children can enjoy wet play. It ilreally is lots of fun for the whole family. SAND area is lovely and clean. They also have an aviary with lots of hens, chickens and budgies - fantastic. Stamford Park have lovely gardens full of bloomed flowers to enjoy a lovely scenic walk as well as ice cream vans to enjoy. Highly recommend to all!

It was established in 1932 through a generous donation by John Frederick Cheetham, who was ahead of his time in environmental conservation. The park features a nature reserve with woodland flanking a stream, making it one of the first of its kind in the country. Visitors can enjoy a nature trail through a deep valley, abundant birdlife, and various walking paths.
Fantastic park it brings community together in Stalybridge & Tameside! A fantastic green space for the family and walking dogs ! Play areas are well done ! They have amazing events here which brings us all together!

Nice park but a bit hilley.its got a good children's play area and a good play area for older kids.good for dog walking.me and my family enjoyed are time there
lee hopwood — Google review
Despite living locally I had never visited this park which is a shame as its excellent The outstanding aspect is the nature trail through a deep valley. We visited early one warm and sunny morning and were rewarded with lots of bird song including a distant woodpecker. I suspect we only covered a small part of the park itself so a return is in order Two negatives. There is no obvious car park and street parking is limited. Tesco is close so I suspect people may park there. Second there was a fun fare in the main park and the council had provided portable toilets. Unfortunately one had been overturned or had overflowed, either way the contentv had spilled down a major pathway. Hopefully just a blip

Good place to visit with kids
Ganga Samarawickrama — Google review
One of Tamesides hidden gems. The main entrance has 2 big open spaces for ball games etc. A young children's play area with a gated sand pit and further up the hill an older children's play area with climbing frames. But the best bit is the public orchard at the top of the hill and the wildlife sanctuary plus a plethora of wild walking paths. Popular with dog walkers (please pick up your dogs waste) and families alike. A good stroll around Cheathams will get the heart pumping and is a joy for the eye. 10/10.

Lovely and well preserved park. A haven for those who love some quiet time. Songs of birds serenading the air. Good for kids and animal lovers too.

A lovely green space for families, dog walkers, teenagers, there is a children's park, an older 'monkey' park, it meanders up to the bird sanctuary. Unfortunately no public toilets.

Everything you need for weekend's walk, picnic or time with kids. Plenty of trees, walk tracks, small water reservoir, play areas.

Nice scenery, all the trees tell an amazing story through the lense, very icy up the main pathway leading to the top at the moment, another possible story to be told through the lense 🤣📸

Lovely Art gallery showcasing a large range of talented local artists using different methods of sketching and painting and many different styles of work. I'm also considering having a few lessons myself to improve my techniques.

The staff are all SO friendly and helpful, just wish it was open longer hours/more days and had a ramp at the front to avoid having to take the lift and being confined to staffed hours only due to that.

Lovely building, lively atmosphere with friendly professional staff. A jewel in an otherwise boring featureless town. Thank you David for your help carried out with a smile and patience.
Lisa sturt — Google review
Extremely rude to my child, ignored him completely on a story time workshop. He was extremely disheartened that he asked me to leave the library immediately after that. We have booked in for the event and he was extremely excited about it.
sehar sarfraz — Google review
A great library with really helpful staff and a lovely atmosphere. Has time for a rhyme sessions for children and book groups running weekly. Opening hours on Google are wrong, I've tried editing them. Library is currently open 9-8 Mondays and Wednesdays, 9-5 Tuesdays and 10-3 on Saturdays. Also has an art gallery upstairs which is only open a few days a year.
Celeste Pettifer — Google review
A great library with really helpful staff, although at the time of writing this (3/8/18) Google is listing incorrect opening hours. The library is open at all listed times, but there's occasional restricted access to PIN-card holders when the library is unmanned...any library member can apply for access, applications must be made in person when the library is staffed. Please refer to the Tameside.gov website for staffed & restricted access hours.
