Yoshitaka's Big Cherry Tree

Points of Interest & Landmarks
Yoshitaka's Big Cherry Tree is a 10-meter high wild cherry tree that has been standing for over 300 years. Located in Chiba prefecture, this national monument is famous for its beautiful mountain cherry blossoms. The tree's impressive size will leave visitors overwhelmed, with its thick trunk being particularly noteworthy. However, due to the short flowering season, timing is crucial to catch the cherry blossoms in full bloom.
Beautiful area , have to get creative with parking..

(Translated by Google) It is one of the most beautiful mountain cherry blossoms in Chiba prefecture. Just like the thickness of the trunk, you will be overwhelmed by its size. Since the flowering time is short, you can't see the big cherry blossoms in full bloom unless the timing is right. It's about 20 minutes walk from the parking lot, so it's better to go in an easy-to-move style.

(Translated by Google) It was my first time to see such a large cherry tree. The cherry blossoms are on a grand scale, comparable to the famous large trees of the Tohoku region. The variety is presumed to be Yamazakura, which has a very short season, blooming for only 2 to 3 days when Someiyoshino cherry blossoms are in full bloom. There are no parking lots nearby, and the nearby roads are regulated and are 3m wide, making it difficult to pass each other, so unless you have special circumstances such as using a taxi or wheelchair, leave your car at Inbanuma Park's P40 parking lot and walk. I hope you will do your best to walk the 2.8km round trip. When I visited, there was a thick fog that came and went in the early morning, and it was a very dramatic scene with huge cherry blossom trees appearing in the fog. If you want to avoid the fog, it would be best to visit after 10:00 a.m., when the temperature has risen sufficiently. Also, even if the fog does appear right after sunrise, it will be thin, so it might be a good idea to wait until sunrise before leaving the parking lot to see the cherry blossoms first thing in the morning. There are temporary bicycle parking lots and temporary toilets around the site, but there were no vending machines. Also, depending on the time of day, there are only two restaurants and they are closed in the morning and evening, so if you visit early in the morning, it is highly recommended to have one rice ball or 5-6 candies in your pocket. We recommend walking shoes suitable for rainy days as you will be walking on a muddy promenade. There is a plaza in front of the cherry blossoms, and there are simple benches made from green bamboo and tree stumps for about 20 people, where you can take a break. It is a good idea to bring a hand towel to avoid morning dew. I think the standard stay is about 20 minutes. It's a 3km round trip, which takes 20-25 minutes each way for people traveling at a standard speed of 4km/h, so it would be a good idea to think of it as a total of 1 hour and 20 minutes from the Inba Park parking lot. Additionally, the blooming period of the large cherry blossoms coincides with the full blooming period of the Somei Yoshino cherry trees, so it would be a good idea to visit Sakura Castle Ruins Park, which is a 20-minute drive and has reviews as the number one cherry blossom viewing spot in Chiba Prefecture. The cherry blossom season is short, and even if you go there may not be any flowers in bloom or the cherry blossoms may be in their leaves, but photographers are definitely encouraged to come and take pictures of this huge wild cherry tree, which is only in full bloom for a few days a year. want.

(Translated by Google) I went there on April 8, 2024. The cherry blossoms we arrived at at the end of the long road are really big as we approach them, and even though they are just one cherry tree, we are a little stunned. A person selling clear files and other items next to the cherry blossoms said, ``Today is the best day this year.'' If you are going by car, there is a temporary parking lot at the nearby sports park, and from there it is a 2.5km walk one way. So I want to make sure I'm prepared for the walk. (Translated by Google) Visited on April 7, 2024 This is not a cherry blossom viewing spot where you can drink alcohol under the so-called cherry blossoms. The wild cherry tree, a natural monument designated by Inzai City, is located in an old village along a narrow mountain road. The old tree with its large overhanging branches feels like it is speaking to the people who look at it, even though it is hundreds of years old. There are no parking spots nearby, so you will have to park your car at the Inba Central Park parking lot, which is about 1.4 km away, and walk. For those who understand the value of this old wild cherry tree, the 2.8km round trip on foot will be well worth the reward. Flowering information is updated on Inzai City's website from time to time, so it's a good idea to check it out. During the flowering season, you cannot drive close to the park; you have to park at Inba Central Park and walk for about 20 minutes. The parking lot tends to be full, and the nearby roads can be busy, so you need to be prepared to some extent. (Translated by Google) Visited on September 10, 2024 It was a busy place with cherry blossom viewing visitors, farmers selling vegetables, dumplings and rice crackers, teahouses on the mountain pass, coffee shops, etc. The parking lot was crowded and the road in front of the park was congested. The number of toilets seems to be sufficient. If you're riding a bicycle, there's a parking lot nearby so you don't have to walk much, but the parking lot was in a cedar forest (?) with no pavement. Narita Tourist Pavilion

Tourist information center
Visitor Centers
The Narita Tourist Pavilion provides visitors with a remarkable museum experience that showcases photographic exhibitions of the historic city and colorful floats from the town's significant festival. The staff is highly supportive, fluent in English language and willing to provide guidance. Additionally, the center offers a range of free cultural activities including calligraphy and kimono dressing. The museum also boasts an impressive presentation of the original road layout, which adds to its unique appeal.
We went there on a rainy day and it was awesome! At 1pm, the Narita World Heritage UNESCO branch organize activities on the upper floors : - making kimono-clad paper dolls - trying you hand at japanese calligraphy - ikebana : flower arrangement with fresh seasonal flowers and plants - traditional tea ceremony - listening to and trying to play Koto (traditional japanese harp kind of instrument) The ladies and gentlemen organizing, teaching and helping you with the activities are really nice, patient and overall a joy to be around. They speak English as well! I can't thank them enough for a great afternoon! So thank you again!!! And guess what? It's all free, I couldn't believe that with the quality of the activities, the fact that you leave with your doll, calligraphy attempt, calligraphy by one of the gentlemen there and that you had tea and sweets, it was free. I would have happily paid for the whole package! You can also see a traditional wedding kimono and the Pavillon exhibition halls if you like history.

Kuzuryu Shrine Shingu

Shinto shrine
Sights & Landmarks
Kuzuryu Shrine is a shrine dedicated to thenine-headed dragon, believed to reside in adjoining Lake Ashi. The beautiful scenery and nice little shrine makes it not well known to the masses, but it is a must see for anyone visiting Hakone.
Great‼️
شينوبي حبيبي — Google review
Originally established in the year 757, the Nine-Headed-Dragon Shrine [Kuzuryu-jinja] reveres a nine-headed dragon. According to ancient legend, the dragon who lived at the bottom of Lake Ashi demanded a human sacrifice from the local villagers. A monk named Mangan Jyonin saved the villagers by subduing the dragon causing it to renounce its evil ways. The dragon became revered as a dragon king, and these days, a festival is held every year on July 31st to celebrate the nine-headed dragon king.

Ōfuna Kannon-ji

Mentioned on
Buddhist temple
Sights & Landmarks
Sacred & Religious Sites
Ōfuna Kannon-ji is a Buddhist temple that was established in 1929 and completed in 1960. It is home to an impressive 82-ft concrete statue of the Bodhisattva Kannon, also known as Ōfuna Kannon.
A very simple temple for the goddess of mercy. There's not much besides the statue but the way her face appears as you ascend the stairs alone makes it a perfect experience. You can enter this small colossus and leave a prayer. It takes some effort to reach the temple as the path is fairly steep.
Tobias Lass — Google review
A wonderful temple!!! Not very big but exquisitely well kept. Not very old but it has some beautiful monuments and also a few monuments to remember the A-Bombs being dropped on Nagasaki and Hiroshima. It was very peaceful and comfortable. A shrine and other rooms are located inside the goddess.

On the way to kamakura, we can visit this ofuna kannon-ji, from station it’s just 5min walk to this shrine.. it’s very beautiful and detailed statue in top of small hill. We can relax or meditate at top of hill. Perfect weekend gateaway place from tokyo. Near by there’s one cave which I’ll recommend must to visit .

Cool area not a lot to see but a cool temple and some cool shops and stores around Ofuna. Worth a day trip, take the JR train to Ofuna then to Enoshima and make a nice day trip out if it, could even go to Kamakura on the way too.

She calls me. We passed by en route to Hakone. Then, I planned this trip to come and pay my respects. Every day, I try to say things like “Daiji Daihi Namu Kanzeon Bosatsu🕊” and “Namu Datsu Dabai GuanShuYin, puusa a” and “om maṇipadme hum” I’m still newly walking this path but my footing feels secure. One. Step. At. A. Time. I recommend walking here from the train. There is also a large pay parking lot on the other side of the temple, away from the train tracks. It wasn’t crowded today because it was Monday. I bet weekends get busy, especially once the cherry blossoms 🌸 bloom. Check it out! Thank you 🙏🎉😄
Vince Prep — Google review
A very small and simple shrine, but the mere size of the statue is so impressive. I am so happy I got to experience it. Beware of when you begin your trek back down the hill. I found it difficult stopping myself from uncontrollably running down the hill and stopping myself. I know there is a long staircase on the other side, and I wish I had taken that.

The Ofuna Kannon-ji is amazing. Seeing her up close and personal is just as amazing as seeing her from a train pulling into Ofuna station. I went during the week and it was just me and one other person. Not crowded at all and the ambience of being alone with her was amazing.

The mall have big super market, food court with Japanese and international restaurants, clothes shops and toys stores for kids

I had time before my flight, but not enough time to get to Tokyo from Narita. Main course opens at 10, but the supermarket and department store opens after 8. The stores were extremely varied, was able to pick up some gifts with my yen before leaving the country. The food/restaurant areas had everything you could want and there was a Starbucks with indoor/outdoor seating.

There is big Don Quite in the Aean mall. You can get all the products for daily base like in any don quijote
Jaime Wong Luna — Google review
It's a good place to hangout but I feel like the food court is limited in terms of good cheap food. The restaurants on the first floor are good, but they all seem to be on the pricier side of things. The bathrooms are good, just like almost all Japanese bathrooms tend to be. Once again the, the bathrooms are spread apart and so you can wander around for a hit trying to find one.
Elias Vedders — Google review
I happened here just because Joyful Honda down the road didn't have what I want. Parking is super confusing and unless you ask you'll think that you have to pay about ¥200 for parking. In reality, keep your ticket with you and even if you don't buy anything the people at the service counter will give you 3hr. free (same if you buy something). It's an older mall but they do have some good stores.
