Isle of Wight Zoo is an animal sanctuary that houses exotic animals including big cats, Madagascan animals, and other creatures. The staff are friendly and encourage visitors to participate in the activities offered.
I saw the lion from so close to I had the best of the experiences. The key is that you need to be in the right place in the right time. If you go to the animals right after food was served, they'd be probably sleeping at a corner. So choose your time wisely. Also, they give some questions and stamping games to kids, so it keeps them excited. Good place. Note: you will end up walking a lot so wear shoes and carry water bottle.

Highly recommend breakfast with the tigers. Got to see the lions up close, the monkeys being fed and the tigers walking around. The sausage and egg roll was also very nice. And a bonus of a hot drink or juice. 90 minutes and we got to see every animal and sit and eat our breakfast. Only £7.99 per person. Will be returning.

Lovely place to visit, the keepers really know there stuff and all animals are well looked after. You can walk through the lemurs enclosure, there was one male employee (don’t remember his name) who really knew his stuff when we were talking about the lemurs - would highly recommend and with the ticket you can go back again within 7 days.
Jesy Speedy — Google review
Amazing experience here today! We had a lovely time seeing all of the animals and knowing they are now happy and safe here rather than where some of them were previously. There is some lovely areas to walk through and sit down at, with lovely views as well.
David Baker — Google review
We visited the sanctuary in the 2nd week of the Easter holidays. Its a lovely place, very well run and clean. The animals are all well looked after and the staff are very knowledgeable and friendly. We listened to 2 of the talks which were great. We had tea and cake in the all Vegan cafe which was very nice and good value. Would definitely come back.
Sarah Martin — Google review
Awesome and well looked after with a lot of renovation going on to to make it even better. This is not a zoo it is a sanctuary for animals to have a better life. It has some lions, tigers, racoons, lemurs, goats and many more different animals. The big cats all look happy and you can get surprisingly close and they don't care you are there, they just go on there daily business. Lots of information is dotted about as some animals have injuries from being Miss treated from previous owners. It also has information about each animal and there characteristics. This place is not big but you could spend a long time looking at the animals as they are so close and can even watch some of them being fed. It has a cafe which sells really nice food and a small shop. The play park will be an added bonus. When we went it was half price so fantastic value and a lot of work is going on to make a new small monkey enclosure which looks really good. For everyone who says it's unfair to keep these animals I say they are rescued and now have a chance of a life with great keepers. Just listening to them shows they care. On a side note you have to pay for the car park which was £3 for 10 hours as it's owned by someone else.
chris Evans — Google review
I really enjoyed it here. The place isn't massive but you can tell straight away that it is about the animals they do have and not how many people they can pack in. The staff were friendly and informative and the animals seemed very well looked after. I also enjoyed the fact they have left some of the original WW2 fortification in place (now part of the surrounding wall) that you can still look around in places instead of just blocking it off.
Karl Venus — Google review
A great day out for kids, adults and teenagers too! Interesting selection of animals and feeding time for the tigers and lions was exciting. Pretty gardens to walk through. Not interested in the war stuff, skipped that junk. Monkeys were cute.
Laura Connolly — Google review
We went there on Saturday with a family having on young 4 year old. It was a nice and sunny day. All the animals were out and sunbathing. We were lucky to see all the tigers, lions and other smaller animals as well. Don't expect it to be a zoo as you won't find big animals there. They have 3 tigers and 4 lions. We also met a lovely couple who adopted a tiger at the zoo. They have been talking to the lions and tigers there for like 10 years now. It was fun overall.
Anuj Kumar — Google review
We arrived at lunch time, paid our £3 to park for the day then paid the £59 to get in (2 adults 3 children) It’s “ok” I wouldn’t say it’s worth the money and I left thinking the experience could have been so much better. It seems to be a very tired Zoo in need of money being spent on it. However I must say the walk in dome enclosure was brilliant and that good we went it twice. If you are coming here with friends I’d recommend ticket sharing as you can use your ticket to come back again within a week for £1 each.

The sanctuary has improved alot since I was last there. There are new spacious cages and work on the grounds. It was cold day when I went but was pleasantly surprised to see the animals outside. There is a small cafe on site and considering its size had a varied menu. Will be going for another visit when it's warmer!!
DEBBIE TAYLOR — Google review
Absolutely amazing. We were on an experience day where we fed the tigers and were also keepers for the day. The staff were brilliant and so friendly. I definitely recommend a visit, the animals are so well loved and cared for and we will definitely be going back to see the tigers we adopted
Squif — Google review
Fantastic place to visit, lots for kids to see, playpark is excellent, cafe smelled amazing although unfortunately we'd already eaten when we got there. Free parking for disabled badge holders. Worth the costly entry, staff very knowledgeable and happy to talk and answer questions. Plenty of staff about too.
Abigail Stone — Google review
Small sanctuary but worth a visit. There is plenty of parking, the staff are very friendly and helpful and there are plenty of experiences to take advantage of (meet the meerkats etc.). The big cats are well worth seeing and there is good visibility across the enclosures so plenty of opportunities for taking pictures. There is a cafe and gift shop on site.
Rach North — Google review
Had a day trip to the Isle of Wight and visited the wildlife sanctuary. It did look a bit run down from the outside but don’t judge a book by its cover! total change once inside. Plenty to see from lions, tigers, monkeys….etc and the enclosures are well maintained. The animals have plenty of room to wander around and trust me you feel very close to them rather than viewing from a far. Duration between 2-3 hours Friendly staff and food was good value for money. I recommend it no matter what age you are. It was very enjoyable and hope to visit again.
Pyrodus — Google review
Great small zoo with a great ethos based around saving animals from circuses and other situations they shouldn't be in. The animals can never be released back into the wild, so this zoo takes care of them. It's slso a charity...so well worth a visit to support them. And the cafe is also great...with lots a scrumptious gluten free homemade cakes. Recommended...
Alan Shaw — Google review
Even in the rough weather we experienced it was an enjoyable visit. Good to support a worthy cause. The staff were great and gave helpful talks. Good vegan restaurant as well with very reasonable prices. They really care for the animals.
Stuart Beadle — Google review
We had a wonderful visit. The Sanctuary (definitely not a zoo!) is well run by passionate and interesting staff. A good range of talks over the day, and the additional cost meerkat experience was well worth it. A very enjoyable day
Kerrin Page — Google review
Excellent place to take the children. We were super lucky to see everything. Reasonably priced and you get free entry to come again. Downside is you have to pay for parking which is an extra cost as the sanctuary do not own the car park. They have a small gift shop which is reasonable and they have a cafe. The cafe is quite small and could do with being bigger. People couldn't find a table for lunch it was that busy. Not a very large selection on the menu either. The sanctutuary is lovely to wlak around quite big with so many animals to see. The talks are great and very interesting. We saw lions, tigers, monkeys, Meercats, wallabies, farm animals, lemurs and much more. They also had a reptile bit. Everything was well sign posted and easy to get to. The playground was amazing my daughter loved it. With slides and swings! It's a great size with lots for children to do. It wasn't busy looking around as we went in half term and the weather wasnt great. On/ off rain. We saw everything and at times felt like we had the park to ourselves.
Jade Blackford — Google review
We had a really lovely time at the animal sanctuary with our two young children, would definitely recommend it.
Gwendolyn Baechle — Google review
Our first time to the Isle of Wight and to the sanctuary. My two Daughters and I really enjoyed our time here. I have mixed feelings about ‘zoos’ but many of these animals have been rescued from terrible circumstances and the sanctuary no longer breed (hence are now knows as a sanctuary and not a ‘zoo’). Enclosures are spacious and full of enrichment. Knowledgeable and friendly staff and the vegetarian cafe was excellent with much of the food vegan (just need some more vegan cake!) aligning their ethos with animal ethics. Keep up the amazing work 💚
Nutsaboutnature — Google review
Spent 4 hours here could have stayed longer. Its a really nice sanctuary the animals are well looked after and the staff are lovely and approachable. I highly recommend visiting.

Lovely zoo on the IOW. Well worth a visit. Your entrance fee goes towards conservation efforts for endangered species. Lots to see for the kids and plenty of educational talks. You can visit again for a second time within 7 days for £1
Kevin L — Google review
It was windy day lock the animals with inside but they came out before we left lions tigers. Lots of beautiful animals, goats, sheep, pigs, monkeys all sorts. Had a really nice time if you're in the Isle of white as worth while going to look at,
harry farrow — Google review
Small sanctuary and attractive wild cats. They are very healthy and huge. max 2 hours spendable including snack time.
Vignesh Dhandapani — Google review
I love the animal sanctuary and am a regular visitor. They have an incredible group of animals rescued and rehomed from different places, some who had horrible past experiences, but are clearly well cared for now. There are interesting little talks through the day as the animals are fed. It's also great to be able to watch some of the animals online on the webcams on the sanctuary website. Anyone with WWII interest can see one of the PLUTO pumps which supported the DDay landings and has been refurbished and is now hosted in the old battery. Access to the sanctuary comes with reduced parking (free for members) in a great location for the beach

Dinosaur Isle is a museum on the Isle of Wight, UK which houses over 1000 fossils and life-sized dinosaurs. The museum is designed to resemble a pterodactyl, and presents the geology and fossils of the island in an introductory exhibition.
A great indoor experience that’s not just for rainy days. From outside, Dinosaur Isle doesn’t look like much, which is a shame as it’s really great inside. The exhibits and models are great and there’s much more to see than the size of the building might suggest.
Craig Poole — Google review
Dinosaur Isle is always our stop off for the rainy day of our holiday. As we were in the middle of a heatwave we didn't have a rainy day. It was lovely and cool in there! There's loads of little activities for young kids. Keeps them entertained for quite a while which I found compensates for the relatively small size of the attraction. Carers also get in free, so make sure to take advantage of that if you can. Dino' Isle doesn't seem to have changed at all over the years. That is until you get into the gift shop at the end. It used to have a great selection of Dinosaur themed items at the end. After our last visit it seems to have turned into mainly a toy shop on par with the other smaller shops in Sandown. Not many dinosaur themed items in the shop unlike previous years we've been there. If you could sort out the gift shop this would be a 5*. This is a great little stop over, especially if you have younger children.
John Titley — Google review
It was a nice informative trip. Mostly made for adults, and I think 30 to 40 minutes are more than enough for the whole trip
Mohsin Ali — Google review
My visit to Dinosaur Isle museum's collection of dinosaur fossils and exhibits is truly awe-inspiring. From towering skeletal reconstructions to intricate displays detailing the anatomy and behaviors of various dinosaur species, every corner of the museum offers something new and fascinating to explore. Overall, my experience at Dinosaur Isle Museum was nothing short of wonderful.
Sandhanu S — Google review
Great place to visit if your kid likes dinosaurs. Very informative and great timeline for the genealogy of dinosaur in general as well as local species. I would have never equated a puffin to the modern day dinosaur!!!!!
Tarun Bharadwaj Natam — Google review
Really enjoyable morning spent at Dinosaur Isle. This is a museum of two halves, the first with lots of information, we took one of the activity sheets which were pitched just right for our children aged 7 and 10. The questions kept them involved and reading the information and looking at the exhibits. The second half in the dinosaur hall is interactive and really good fun. Lots of hand sanitiser everywhere and not too busy so felt very covid safe. Great shop at the end and reasonably priced.
Laura Lewis — Google review
Great dinosaur 🦕 museum. Staff there are very friendly and informative. If you ever find a fossil they are happy to look at it and tell you what it is. The museum is very interactive lots of things for kids to touch and figure out what it is. Lots of buttons everywhere to press. We even got to touch real fossilised dinosaur bones and other fossils. This place is wheelchair ♿️ and Buggy friendly. They have lots of parking spaces around the museum and have a good amount of disabled parking bays. The entrance is on ground level with no steps so easy to get in and out with wheelchairs or baby strollers.
Lei Hang — Google review
Excellent but starting to wear around the edges. It's great and the kids loved it. They spent along time in the sandpit uncovering the bones and I really enjoyed the information boards. I don't remember when the animatronic dinosaur last worked, I know it did on opening, isn't it about time it was fixed? A few running repairs and a couple of replacement bulbs and it could be a top quality attraction again. We'll be back but probably only once more if you don't improve this once great day out. I'd estimate about 2hrs to do it all.
Julian Adams — Google review
Nice museum located on the beach front. Parking is discounted of the entrance price which is nice. Overall it's not a huge place but it's a priced reasonably and I guess would be one of the many attractions when at the beach front (you have the amusement arcade, mini golf, nets, the beach all close by). Lots of interesting things to learn but I think I enjoyed and learned more then the kids.
Sajjad M — Google review
Interactive family museum & very interesting especially the working progress on the new fossils. Couple of hours to spare go visit & the gift shop has plenty of items.
Vinny 1333 — Google review
Lovely place to visit if your nearby or passing. Quite small but plenty of reading and fossils to look it. Lots of parking nearby and a really good gift shop. Pushchair friendly and lots of activities for children to interact with. We did a letter search placed around the exhibits with my friends little boy. Located on the sea front with tables and chairs nearby if you have a pack lunch.
Miles Hewitt — Google review
It was good, some great fossils and not that many animatronics but a great gift shop.
Narmeen — Google review
Visited in October from Singapore. I've been to a few dinosaur museums and I learnt the most from this one. They have a lab in the museum with a friendly team that tell you the history of the island's dinosaurs and allow you to get up close and personal with some of the fossils. I highly recommend this place if you are visiting the island!
Daniel Ooi — Google review
Rubbish weather so decided to go here for the day and it was ok. I think it's one of them places where once you've being once you wouldn't really go again. Also I think it's overpriced for the tickets to enter. For the size it's not big at all and can be done within a hour.
luke peart — Google review
What a gem! It's one of the BEST smaller museum collections I've seen. Some amazing and real artefacts to look at. Pink iggy blew my mind. All the information was easy to read and understand and a lot of fun interactive activities for the younger ones too. The staff were very friendly and informative. It's definitely an underestimated place on the island. 🦕
Lia Foray — Google review
Lovely little museum next to the beach. If you pay for parking in the car park you get £2.50 discount on entry to the museum. Family ticket 2 adults and 2 children £20 without the parking discount. Lots of interesting artifacts on display and a fee interactive exhibits for the kids to enjoy. Gift shop with lots of dinosaur and Isle of Wight gifts
Matt Withers — Google review
This place was way better than I thought and a bargain at £8 for an adult. I think some of the displays were a bit too much information for little kids but there is interactive displays to keep them entertained. Any kid who is a huge fan of dinosaurs will have a field day!! Great collection of fossils. As 2 adults we felt like kids again 😁 The gift shop has everything you can imagine dinosaur related and is full of pocket money priced items. The clerk was great fun too 😁 If parking in the adjoining car park, let them know as you get £2.50 off your parking.

Sandown Beach is a long, sandy beach located on the Isle of Wights. It is popular for water sports, including windsurfing and kayaking, as well as ice cream or refreshments at one of the island's licensed beach cafes.
Picked this beach as we had 3 dogs within our party.the section right near the cafe doesn't allow dogs during the peak of the summer (may-september),it is the bits further out that do.well worth a visit, sand is beautiful, low tide allowed for so much fun building mucky sand castles.dogs had an absolute ball too. The car park is very convenient and near the steps down to the back and (surprisingly) it was reasonably priced. Would come back in a heart beat!

A lovely peaceful beach at the top end of Sandown. Enclosed by small cliffs with dog friendly area all year round, this is a great place to come with your four-legged friend and take in the stunning views. This is one of my favourite places on the island

Absolutely loved walking to the beach and admire the beautiful view. It’s a nice place to have a walk or to sit when it’s not too cold. Definitely recommend you to walk towards the cliff. The landscape is beautiful!

A must if you are on the Isle of Wight and you want a lovely walk on this dog friendly beach
paul andrews — Google review
I have 3 favourite beaches on the Isle of Wight for 3 different reasons. Yaverland is in the top 3, it’s a very peaceful beach, enclosed by a cliff rising up to Culver Down, there’s a decent cafe, toilets, good parking. My dog lives his best life here, there’s nowhere he’s happier than on this beach. There’s beautiful views in every direction, so much open space, especially when the tide is out. If you walk right to the end when the tide is out there’s rock pools you can find all sorts of sea creatures in.
Pete Hills — Google review
Wow what a place for a morning walk. So pretty. Loads of dog walkers there when the tide is out.
Tim Phillips — Google review
I went to Yaverland Beach early morning just to take some sun rise photos. The beach was quiet and very clean, perfect for what I wanted.

Cracking place for an evening swim and BBQ. Not a fan of the day time as its way too busy for my liking. After 6pm you can park up your van, whip out a BBQ, grab your swimmers and live the dream.

What a beautiful beach. Steps at the base of the sea wall makes wonderful seating for us elderly lol. Not to crowded, safe sea, w/c block small friendly shop/cafe. Highly recommend

Beautiful beach! Amazing views and it's dog friendly. Loved walking along the beach and seeing Culver down. Amazing for photo opps. There's a car park near by, However it does cost. There's a little shop/cafe near by two!
Gareth Barter — Google review
Amazing beach at the far end of Sandown beach. A little quieter than the main beach with ample parking (fee), nice cafe and miles of great sand, hardly any stones and rocks and almost no seawead. One of the best beaches on the island for sure.
Rob Quickenden — Google review
Nice quiet stretch of beach off the beaten path, perfect for covid distancing. Tides vary enormously, so make sure you check the times, as at high tide the beach almost completely vanishes under the waves. There is a decent car park with outdoor washing facilities, public toilets and a friendly little cafe that does ice creams and hot and cold snacks. All you need for a day at the beach...
Fink Angel — Google review
Yaverland Beach in Sandown is a coastal gem. The expansive golden sands and crystal-clear waters offer a serene escape. The breathtaking views of the cliffs and the Isle of Wight's coastline add to the charm. It's a family-friendly haven with safe swimming and ample space for beach activities. The beachside cafes provide delicious refreshments, enhancing the overall experience. Yaverland Beach is a tranquil paradise, inviting relaxation and enjoyment amidst nature's beauty. Whether you're a beach enthusiast or seeking a peaceful retreat, this shoreline offers a perfect blend of beauty and tranquility.

Museum in Brading Roman Villa is an excellent place to explore with kids. There are mosaics on the floor that still holdinterest for daughter, and there's also trail to follow and other interactive exhibits along the way. Visitor centre is well-maintained and displays over 100,000 artefacts from site. Museum is easy to access, has free parking, cafe, and souvenir shop makes it a great destination for a day trip from campsite.
This is a must place to visit, the work done to build the villa almost 2000 years ago is immense. The size of the buildings is very impressive. The skill involved in the mosaic floors is wonderful, the hours spent on them must have been months. The villa sits on a hill overlooking the sea, very impressive. We'll worth a visit.

If you have a real interest in the Roman empire and their time in Britain, then this is the place for you! If not come and visit their Cafetiere Wed to Sunday in the low season. Lovely Meals, Sandwiches and a good selection of cakes ect. The Roman Villa is set within a very quiet and beautiful scenic area. There is a large Carpark and excellent facilities.

Friendly staff, fabulous sandwich & soup, modern building, clean, free guide when we were there, this is the 3rd iteration of a Roman Villa on the site, the others are marked out in the field where you can picnic & kids have a run around, free parking.

The historic villa at Brading. It was interesting to see something that was so old but preserved in a way for future generations to see . If you like history or even if your not a fan still worth a visit to see a past that isn't around anymore

Interesting history not only of the villa but also the geography of the IOW many years ago. Very welcoming and enthusiastic staff, and we enjoyed hearing from a very knowledgeable guide. Lovely Cafe on-site with great cakes and light lunches. A few souvenirs for sale. On-site free parking with wheelchair access but gravel pathways outdoors.
Suzanne Wilson — Google review
A fantastic place if you are a history or Roman fan. The mosaic floors are incredible, and we'll worth seeing. Entry price is quite high given that we were done in just over an hour, having pretty much done everything bar a visit to the cafe. That said, I still thoroughly enjoyed the visit!

Spent a good 2 hours walking around reading all the information and looking at all the amazing artefacts! The mosaics just speculator!!! Well worth a visit

What an amazing experience, we really enjoyed this it's well laid out with just information without overwhelming the visitor. I would gladly have done gift aid but as as its gift aid with a donation on top I declined. I'm happy to gift aid but give me the option to donate after I've seen the exhibition. Still it's a great place.

As with most Roman villas there's not a lot to see above ground, but the mosaics are possibly unique in Europe and well worth seeing. It's housed in a striking purpose built modern building, with a cafe. The description of what's there is possibly a bit light on detail, but there are some good visualisations of what things may have looked like in the past.
Starborn Thing — Google review
Extremely interesting and well preserved Roman Villa. We loved learning about the references of the mosaics to Roman mythology and stories about their gods.
Helen Nicholson — Google review
Visited the villa whilst holidaying on the Island during October Half term. The staff and volunteers are very friendly and knowledgeable. The exhibits are fab, some beautiful and extraordinarily well-preserved mosaics to see. We paid to make our own mosaic coasters, which at £3.50 each was a fun and creative bargain. We visited the cafe, staff again were lovely and chatty and had a very nice cream tea. The site is independent and whilst I found prices a little on the expensive side, I can understand why and enjoyed out visit.
Vicky Greenwood — Google review
Fascinating insight into how the Romans lived in the UK. How a villa was constracted, maintained and heated. Beautiful examples of Roman mosaic flooring. Most of the villa is enclosed so your visit will not be affected by the weather. Ample free parking, hot and cold food sold at reasonable prices. Passionate staff that are happy to take any opportunity to share their knowledge. For £3 children and adults alike are able to make a coaster using tessera mosaic glass tiles and are given a bag of grouting to take away with them to use on the coaster once the tiles are secured. The eating area is clean and well kept, menu traditional, serving jacket potatoes salads, cakes, hot and cold drinks. Toilets are regularly cleaned and kept to a high standard. Not much in the way of children souvenir available more so History books, reproduction Roman helmets and the like. Kids liked dressing up in period clothes and having their picture taken.
David H-R — Google review
We’ve visited the Roman villa today as there was an archeological event going on and story telling for the kids. My daughter and her friend really enjoyed the events today and wish it was an ongoing thing. The archeological event is great to complete the girls guiding brownies archeology interest badge. This is why I’ve decided to visit the Roman villa today. The price is good too. £11 per adult or 5.60 for a child. If someone has a disability and you are their carer then you’ll get free entry as a carer. They also have disabled parking bays and it’s wheelchair accessible. The people there are very friendly and informative. I would definitely visit again.

The Isle of Wight. Brading Roman Villa is superbly preserved. But the highlight of visit was the volunteer, who wove stories and ideas into a fascinating introduction to life on the site and the surrounding countryside almost 2000 years ago. There's also plenty of car parking and an excellent cafe. We enjoyed jigsaw puzzle. Very good indoor activity when weather is not good for sea side 😀

Walked around the lake here, its really beautiful and so peaceful. There are lots of birds, swans, ducks, coots and lots of pigeons as well. Walked up Culver Cliff in Yaverland Sandown to this beautiful pub...which is situation at the top.. .it's a fantastic walk up and well worth the effort as this pub is amazing. Beautiful views.. home cooked food.. fantastic selection at the bar...and such a comfortable bar area. Wouldn't hesitate to return. Very warm welcome and dogs welcome too.

Lovely pub, great Sunday roast, and good service even though it was busy. Definitely book a table if it's likely to be a busy day, we didn't but got lucky and only sat outside for a few minutes for a space inside to open up. There's a car park just beyond the pub, so there's no need to park along the road as some people were doing. Keep your eye out for the turn on the way up the hill. It comes up quickly, and there's nowhere to turn around before the end of the road if you miss it.

Friendly little pub, lovely log burner, good food... And best of all, dogs are welcome!! 😃😍🐶 Humphrey, the Landdog, is so welcoming and obviously the boss. ☺️🍻⚓ Great clifftop walks surrounding the pub- stunning sea views on a clear day. 🌊 🌊 🌊 Golden cows and wonderful wildlife - we spotted a kestrel on the cliffs and as we left and drove down the lane in the dark, we saw a beautiful tawny owl. 🦉🌌🌊

Amazing pub on the top of the cliff. Lovely views, very friendly staff, great service and amazing food. Good selection of drinks. Will definitely be going back

My son, his little Pug and I popped into this lovely friendly pub yesterday for lunch, and it's very smartly decorated, clean and welcoming. Even the ladies loo is very smart, modern with character and very clean. The food was amazing, but there was too much for me to finish it, it's well worth a visit, but it's best to book ahead.

What a fantastic place. Lovely home cooked food, friendly staff and great views. Would highly recommend 10/10

Only popped in for a beer. Had a great pint of local pale ale. The landlord was really friendly and welcoming. View from berr garden wad magnificent

Beautiful location, stunning views, didn't get to try food as the kitchen had just closed (2minutes previous). Would liked to have given more stars, however, disappointed that we'd gone all that way to be turned away. Especially during the summer time. In a high season destination, food should be offered whilst the doors are open. Will try again though next time we're visiting.

Booked after looking for somewhere for Sunday Lunch. So glad we did as it was busy. However, tables are well spaced and the staff are very organised. We didn’t feel rushed at all (other than the fact we had a ferry to catch). We both had roasts (one chicken, one beef), the plates were piping hot and the food was plentiful and absolutely delicious. I’ve no idea how they make their cauliflower cheese but it is off the scale. We were stuffed but managed to share a crème brûlée (also delicious). This could easily become our go to place when we visit IoW as I’m keen to see if the other food is as good. Just superb!
Janice Tickle — Google review
Absolutely delicious food. Sunday roasts, pies and sausage and mash were all exceptional. We all came away from the dinner so full and very happy - everyone was very impressed. Looking forward to returning. Dog friendly and superb views added to the excellent experience.

A lovely place for a drink or some food. Very generous portions, and reasonable prices. The staff were very helpful. It's a great dog-friendly place.

Great views everywhere you look had lunch today was nice and cosy, surrounded by beautiful blue skies beautiful January day. Glad we reserved a table as it was very busy, nice warm welcome from the landlord. A good selection of beer and lager, the nice suprise was bottles of wine on the menu for less than £19. Excellent choices on the menu with a special board for mains and puddings. Check out the photos, they show how good our lunch was. You can walk from Bembridge and Sandown too.

Restaurant
The Ocean Deck Bar & Restaurant is a beachside bar and restaurant located in Sandown, England. The establishment specialises in local fish specials and offers a Sunday carvery. During busy bank holiday weekends, the restaurant often fills up quickly, so reservations are recommended. The food is generally ok, but the fish pie was not particularly flavourful.
Great food and great staff. The whole family enjoyed themselves. Baby changing table is located behind the first stall of the women's. You can conveniently call staff via a table button - something you need to teach kids not to play with! I ordered their last seafood linguine which was delicious, the variety of seafood wasn't a lot but the crab and lobster bisque was on point. Would highly recommend.
Lai — Google review
Not bad, not great. Does what it says on the tin, food was tasty but it felt a bit underwhelming. A plate of calamari only has 3 rings, where you'd think increase the price and make it half decent, or offer half portion for sharing starters? A fish pie which was tasty, but heavy on the potato, light on the seasoning, and served with a salad (perfect) and 2 slices of dry garlic bread (why?). Service was friendly for sure, but felt distant with table mounted call buttons. Interior decor was very sparse and unatmospheric. It needed extra touches like candles, plants, things like that. With a bit more effort and focus, this place will be 4 stars. Almost there.
Jonathan Franklin — Google review
Terrible. We went in and ordered food with 2 young kids. Weren't told there was an hour wait for food. We were just about to walk out when it arrived. It was almost warm and nothing special. I know places get busy but they weren't more than 1/4 full (of just inside tables). Wouldn’t recommend.
Michelle Robinson — Google review
I ordered cod and chips and surprised to have 2 almost sausage shaped pieces of fish on a plate of chips. When questioned was told the fish had been delivered today and that it is just fish cut in half…. V disappointed with the whole plate of food. Nice service though, and good location.

We booked the night before and had Sunday lunch. The best Sunday lunch we have had in a long while, not to be missed. The chef at the Carvery station was a delight! Huge selection of carvery items and all delicious. The whole family enjoyed it and the staff were so welcoming and kind. Highly reccomend this place.

We had the jacket potato and the Mediterranean veg with houmous. Both are very delicious. The vegs are flavoursome, accompanied by houmous and crusty bread.

According to my son, best ever restaurant with very good food. Lovely place to visit. Service superb and calm atmosphere.

The location is fantastic to enjoy the sea view and have a pint or some food. They have a lovely outside sitting space and inside as well. The staff are friendly. We ordered battered fish and chips and one wide a side of salad instead of chips. Lovely fresh food.

A great location right on the water, with a lovely “boat atmosphere” inside. I had the halloumi and mushroom vegetarian burger and it was unique and not your average veggie burger. Servers were kind, helpful and attentive. A peaceful spot.

The service here was efficient and the system was easy to use. You press the call button and someone would come fairly quickly. We ordered the fish pie, beef burger, salt and pepper squid and sticky toffee pudding. All tasted great especially the squid which was very fresh. The toffee pudding tasted soft and light. Burger patty was juicy.

Went for lunch with our daughter and son-in-law. Sat inside as weather was a bit iffy..greeted by lovely front of house staff ..food was delicious and enjoyed by all. Would definitely return and as island residents we certainly will.

The Steamer Inn is a pub/restaurant in Shanklin that has a nautical-themed décor and serves full English breakfasts. It's also dog friendly, which is great news for owners who want to take their pets inside while it's not too warm outside. The inn has fast WiFi so you can stay connected while you enjoy your meal.
Delicious food and dog friendly! The Tandoori Chicken Burger was a special last night and was absolutely incredible. Portion sizes are generous and the service was friendly and very quick, which was appreciated with a very hungry 6 year old. Our dog was able to come inside with us, which for dog owners is ideal when it's not that warm outside. Good, fast WiFi is also available. Very, very pleased!

This is a really nice place to eat and have a drink. I was very impressed with the macaroni cheese with a side salad. My husband had the steak , chips and veg. He said the steak was the most tender steak he had had. The pub overlooks the Sandown seafront and has a lot of seating inside and out. We were both very pleased with our meals and would definitely recommend this place.
Sue Chapman — Google review
We had an evening meal here for a table of 6. Plenty for room when we arrive at 8 as you couldn't book. They had a great selection of food. The fish crumble was very nice and I tried the macaroni too which was also very nice. Staff were very nice and friendly and happy to help. A great restaurant right next to the sea, and would love to some back again.
Jake — Google review
Fantastic location, very nice decor inside. Non-existent service. After sitting at the table for 30 minutes and no one coming to greet, we got up to ask why. We were advised our group of eight had to order drinks at the bar and carry them to the table. Then we made a list of food choices on a piece of paper, and delivered it back to someone at the bar. Very odd, maybe it was just a bad staffing day. The prices certainly didn’t reflect self-service. The food, when it arrived was very good. The Steamers own seafood chowder was delicious and filling, with large chunks of poached fish and mussels, with potatoes and corn and served with 2 rolls. Louisiana style Seafood gumbo was flavorful as well. The daily special, Lamb’s liver and bacon were outstanding, the Vegetarian burger was served with large portion of french fries. The dessert was huge, shared by all, and a special treat for the four-legged guest in our party, ice cream specially made for dogs. Apart from the self service, we loved everything.

Friendly staff. Lovely beach front location. Food was really nice. Best macaroni cheese I've had for a long time! Dog was made welcome too with a bowl of water and a treat! Recommended!

Always been one of the nicest places to sit and look out to sea. Great atmosphere. So easy now you can order on the app and it's there in minutes. Really quick. Foods delicious, menu is a lot smaller than it used to be, but too much choice can be overwhelming. Highly recommend this place 👌
Debbie Hill — Google review
Very popular family friendly restaurant, menu has a variety so there's something for everyone. When we went, it was busy but they managed to handle our 7 person table with ease. You must place order at the bar. High chairs are available for the little ones. Baby changing in women's toilet. Food was cooked on point and generously plated. Even the starter is quite big, recommend to share if you're not very hungry.
Lai — Google review
We visited for a drink and the staff were so welcoming and child friendly we returned for a full dinner later in the week. The food was amazing and portions massive. Their kids menu had a lot of choices and the pub and staff are very dog friendly too. Would recommend anyone coming to Shanklin to visit here.
Megan White — Google review
One of the best roast dinners I’ve ever eaten! Everything was perfectly cooked. The only improvement would be more delicious gravy, (I did ask for more gravy and they did bring some though!)
Tomas Flynn — Google review
In January you might expect a dull cold day, and with The Steamer Inn you can expect a warm bright welcome, pleasant quick service and good tasty food. We had baguettes served with a salad garnish and chips. The food was hot and well cooked. Service was prompt and friendly. Thoroughly recommend at any time of year. It certainly brightened up our day.

The Steamer Inn has a great look and feel about it, very welcoming and in a great location. We had fish and chips for lunch on a Friday afternoon and everything was perfect (amazing chips, and I like that there was a bit of a salad on the plate). The IPA is very good as well. All in all highly recommended 👌🏻

We loved our meals here - delicious and huge portions. Great range of drinks including local ones. Fabulous views and friendly staff. A real find - recommended 👌

Fantastic place, great friendly service and superb views. Kids menus was amazing offering not only the normal burger, sausage and chips but also dishes like lasagna. Potions for Main meals are large and very tasty with good choice for allergies. My mum had the kids lasagna meal and was plenty to fill her up and very tasty. Will definitely go again.

Nice food, really friendly and efficient staff, brilliant location. We sat outside late September and the heaters in the covered area were ample to keep us warm in the evening. Only thing to note (and a minor one at that) was having to queue for a while to order food. But still definitely recommend and would return if visiting Isle of Wight again.
Chrissy Jolly — Google review
We only had food here when we were on our holiday but after the first night that we went we came back every other night as the food and service were just amazing! Two of the nights I had the macaroni cheese which was creamy and delicious. The third night I had scampi and chips which were perfectly cooked and plentiful in size. My family also very much enjoyed their meals. Although there was a small wait to get a table, it was definitely worth it when we got in with the beautiful decor inside and the amazing views of the sea when sat outside. We will definitely be going back when we return to the island.
Ash Board — Google review
Lovely little pub! We went here for my partners birthday and it was reasonably priced and the portions of food were massive! Service was quick and welcoming. Location is great as you can overlook the sea to compliment the nautical theme going on inside.
Craig Blyth — Google review
Can't comment on the rooms as we only stopped by for food and drink. The place was busy but service, speed and quality were all bang on for a table of 7. Sat outside under the heater looking over the sea. We were recommended from a local cafe that couldn't fit us in. Definitely go again! Thanks Steamer Inn 🍻
Mark H — Google review
Absolutely love this place. Phoned on the off chance to see the availability of a table. Staff was so amazing and made a table available for us. Food just delicious as ever. Staff so friendly and welcoming. The only sad thing I can say was unfortunately was we were going to stay for the live music group we saw who were playing, but felt very uncomfortable when we kept overhearing the lady who was supporting the band, saying we clearly were in her way and that she wanted our table and couldn't wait for for us to leave. She repeated this several times to several people. So we left. Apart from this wouldn't hesitate to recommend The Steamer to anyone. It's the one place we always go to when we visit the IOW

Had a wonderful time with the family here. Great food food particularly the squid, the best on the island! The staff, Clive in particular were lovely and made us feel very welcome. Clive took the time to explain special drinks and sights to us and was very helpful. Will definitely be back

Nice enough Ringwood ale. BLT baguette well presented. Chunky chips cooked in oil that should have been thrown out the night before...

Disappointing Seafood experience. Seafood platter/ board not sure of the name. Definitely the worst seafood dish I have ever ordered & eaten. Will recommend people not to order the seafood platter/ board. Fish was smoked & tasted like it was packaged, frozen cocktails prawns, frozen calamari bits and the salmon was replaced with scampi bits. Not worth the money for frozen seafood. The bread & butter was better then my seafood board 🤣 The seafood chowder was ok. 🍻 Beers are always good.

The Beach Cafe is a restaurant that overlooks the Sandown Beach and offers views of the bays of Sandown and Shanklin. The cafe can be found on Pier Street, just opposite the sandy beach. Inside or out, you can enjoy delicious food at The Beach Cafe. The Covid dietary guidelines are followed here completely, so vegetarians and vegans will be happy as well!
Lovely food and helpful staff. We came here for a late lunch. I had a ham and cheese ploughman’s and my partner had a prawn sandwich with salad. The staff member who served us was attentive and friendly. The food itself was reasonably priced and as can be seen in the photo, we both got good portions! Good location (just off of the sea front), and the decor/atmosphere was very cheerful and bright. Would recommend!

Lovely little cafe by the beach, staff was all friendly and wore face masks, gave us time to order our food. We both went for burgers which was lovely, will definitely be back when visiting the area. Only thing I'd say is they don't pick up rubbish from under the tables when cleaning.

Incredible café, staff were welcoming and very attentive. The food is spectacular for a cafe. Very high standard and would recommend to anyone. We came on back to back days, as the food really is that good and a varied menu. Keep up the great work.

What a wonderful cafe! So glad we decided to choose here for our brunch on our drive down to Sandown. We managed to get a table sat right near the windows/doors had an amazing view of the seafront, the staff were all so polite and friendly and the food was fantastic.

Dog friendly. Kind and attentive staff. The special crab burger and the American (reg menu) came quickly, and they were devoured just as swiftly. Excellent options within meals to allow you to customise your meal (choice of potato with your main or extra salad). Everything tasted homemade. The chips were outstanding: chunky, perfectly crispy outside and fluffy melting middle. Meal for two with drinks came to less than £30. We'll be back.

A fabulous cafe with a huge selection of food. The service is amazing and the quality of the food is great. The staff are so accommodating and friendly and the added bonus is it's dog friendly. We were a large party of 10 and one had food intolerances which they went out of their way to ensure they were safe.

Best place on the Esplanade for brilliant food at good price. You have to try either the full English, burgers or Mussels, and the service is outstanding with the sea view a stones throw away. We will keep coming back, and thanks to the team at Beach Cafe for always looking after us! Amazing!

This is an excellent beach front cafe (the word "cafe" doesn't do it justice). The food and selection available is extremely good and to a very high standard. You can sit in or out on the esplanade to enjoy your food. The staff are so friendly and service is quick. Everything is lovely and fresh and made to order. Check out the "Specials" board. Not to be missed if visiting Sandown

We went to this little quirky cafe by off chance while we were looking for a place to eat at Sandown, we had a place in mind but was closed... Which turned up a good blessing as we would never have searched further and found this little Gem of a place... I was expecting a good average enough cafe food, however I was pleasantly surprised, as this cafe offered seriously delicious food and generous portions too... The staff were very friendly and a bonus it was also a dog friendly place. Had a great atmosphere, nice perfect location to see the beach and pier, nice tasty made coffees then some great unexpected dishes on the menu. I personally had the sizzling fajita, and enjoyed every second of it. The 2 others with me one had the chilli beef nachos and other had the salmon baguette and they seem to enjoy it very much too. I personally recommend this place from my experience and if I come back to Sandown again, definitely will be visiting again for another meal.

The sole beach bar on the island, Driftwood Beach Bar is known for its unique ambiance. It offers a diverse menu of delicious food options, catering to both indoor and outdoor seating preferences. During the summer months, patrons can enjoy live music performances on the outdoor decking, adding to its charm and appeal. However, some visitors have had mixed experiences at this establishment in the past. Despite this, it benefits from its picturesque location directly on the beach.
Was not expecting this! After seeing this place advertised in a magazine, we took a trip down. What they didn't tell you was that the views are insane! Literally nestled beach side, absolutely stunning! The food, however was fresh, quick and delicious, we were all extremely happy with ours and left with full bellies and happy smiles on our faces.

Great location but food took a long time, table wasn't cleared from previous diners even when our food arrived, my burger was over priced and had no cheese as described, rum and coke was flat couldn't taste the rum. Outdoor area potentially dangerous for children.

If I could rate this -5 then I would. Absolutely disgusting place, Every customer abused, wrong and disgusting food. The staff verbally abused my family, were racist to a family sitting near us too. When I questioned this I was also abused, filthy kitchen and horrible place, the police need to close this down. Under age children serving and pouring drinks and bringing food to your table after waiting for 2hrs.

Visited this place today for the second time as had previously enjoyed chicken wings/pizza. Unfortunately today was a different story. When we walked in the place was totally empty. We ordered a drink a sat at a table. My wife went to the bar to order 2 x pizzas at £18 and £16 each so not cheap. 45 minutes later we were still sat waiting and freezing cold. I asked a member of staff if our food was going to be long. He came back and said it shouldn’t be too much longer. Another 10 minutes went by so I walked up to 1 member of staff and I think the elderly woman who owns it Who were stood chatting. When I said we have been waiting 45 -50 minutes for a pizza she walked into the kitchen and said the customers are moaning. When she returned she ignored me so I asked what was happening and she said “you try and get staff, you will just have to wait like everyone else, we are very busy” at which time I pointed to all the empty tables and said the place is empty. I said give us our money back and we will leave, she replied”no I’m not doing that” Finally when the pizza came it was very nice but we will never go back there 😡

Beautiful view of the beach to eat dinner, would be better if they played some music for atmosphere. It isn't table service so you order and pay at bar, found it a bit strange with the amount of cleaning storage stuff we walked past between the bar and inside seating area and we had an old dirty tub under our table which I moved. Menu choice is great, average pricing to be honest looking at about £15/£20 pp for a main dish. Food was lovely to be honest and there would be something even for the fussiest of eaters. I'd definitely go back.

AVOID....... If I can give 0 stars, I would. Get ready to get your bump punctured by pieces of wood from the broken benches. Nail that sticks out of your table. Where on at least 3 tables I ve looked at, most of them broken. They where the only one available. Others that looked OK had the reservation signs on but no one turned up while we where there. Bean with the kids, had to watch them on every step they made to not get injured while sitting down and waiting for our lunch. Food..... 2 STARS. If you like grilled sardines with guts, this is the place. On they're menu, Hall sardines means scales, guts and everything "blash" I personally and other people who left reviews about that, would probably understand that they have heads on, not guts, scales and everything.

Such a beautiful setting right in the beach. Went on Bank Holiday Monday, were seated quickly and lots of safety measures in place. The staff were very friendly and worked extremely hard. We were made aware there was a wait on food upon arrival but with the beautiful weather we weren't surprised. The food was great and definitely worth the wait. We will be back again.

Once again we have not been disapointed in eating out in Sandown. We went here on our last Sunday evening before leaving on Monday. I really loved the idea of this place very spacious with inside and outside eating area, outside on one side was under cover. This restaurant was in the perfect position facing out to see, you were right on the beach, great spot. We had fish and chips with salads, wow, never tasted anything like it so good and fab portions. Dogs were allowed I as well so we were all very happy. Thank you for such a wonderful meal and service from your staff :)
Anne Marie Schou Lund — Google review
Very average, but not horrific. Slow service. Mediocre cocktails. Menu designs are terrible. The whole place is very tacky, but it has excellent views over the beach, and lovely big windows that open up. They served our drinks with two plastic straws each. Really unnecessary when there were paper ones behind the bar. Very irresponsible this close to the ocean, and in general. There is no need for plastic straws!
Roxanne Silverwood — Google review
Great location and views but otherwise a bit of a let down. We waited nearly an hour for food (we were told to expect a 30 minute wait), portions were small given the hefty price tag and some items (e.g. onion rings) were overcooked. The sardines had not been gutted which is either sloppy or suggests an inexperienced kitchen team. The place was generally a bit of a mess and this made me wonder about hygiene. My recommendation would be to enjoy the views with a drink if you fancy but eat elsewhere. We would not go back ourselves.
Stephen Roberts — Google review
Arrived as they opened for lunch today with a toddler and dog, very friendly staff found us somewhere sheltered in the heat, made a fuss of both the dog and our 18month old. The view and setting is great. The food is not your usual beach bar chips and burger for a fiver rubbish (see some of the other reviews moaning about price) so the food is a little more expensive but It’s a proper restaurant, and I would pay their prices for the food that was delivered….Mussels were massive and tasty best I’ve had in the UK. Wife had one of their fresh home made pizzas 🍕equally as good 👍 (I didn’t take any pics of the food as it didn’t last long and I didn’t want to pick my phone up either!) And finally corona on tap what more could you want 🤷🏻‍♂️ Thanks for making us feel welcome and for a lovely lunch 👍
