Restaurant
Thornton Lodge is a pub and restaurant that specializes in serving classic comfort food. They offer a wide range of options, including kids' and dessert menus. Recently, they hosted a funeral wake and did a commendable job in taking care of the party. The drink selection was diverse, and the prices were reasonable. The buffet spread consisted of several delicious dishes, although there were a few that could have been improved upon.
Came with the family and we all have enjoyed the meals. I had the steak and ale pie!! Wow brilliant. The staff were brilliant too. Thanks for a great meal

Really enjoyed our meal for a belated mother's day. Clean, well lit, staff were polite and smart. The food was hot and enough for a lunch menu. Would go again. Thanks

I ordered the gammon for £10 something not the £8 something one and got the smallest gammon I've ever seen it makes me wonder how small the £8 one would of been. I know a lot of pensioners come here but I'm not a pensioner and would of liked a full size adult meal. If you look at the pic it's nearly the same size as a fried egg, very disappointed.

Came here for a late lunch, only about 6 other people in the whole place, so the 2 star atmosphere, but the place was tidy and I'd hope for more during busy periods. Food was fine, nice pub grub. Service was going well until a young girl took over and threw our deserts onto our table and walked away without speaking. Ruined the meal. We will try again on a weekend and hope for more people and better service.

Similar to many pub restaurants in decor. Long waiting time as there didn't seem to be a lot of staff....but then again it wasn't busy. The staff available were pleasant. We were a party of 3 adults and 2 children under 5. Portion sizes were good as was the food. Perhaps 1 child's portion would do 2 children. My husband enjoyed his burger. Only complaint really serving and waiting time.

We were at a funeral wake and they looked after the party well. The drinks choices were broad and prices fair. The food was a buffet with several nice pieces and a few that could have been better. I particularly enjoyed the chicken strips. The warm quiche was pleasant, too. Sandwiches were varied but so was the filling - egg was sparse, for example, and beef not well sliced to eat in a butty. The sausage rolls looked very interesting but should have been served hot, as cold, the filling was obviously not as meaty. The large meat pie may have been pork but our table weren't sure. The coleslaw and a little salad decoration helped lift the overall meal.

Didn't reserve a table but staff were very friendly and asked us to wait while one was sorted out - less than 5 min wait. Food and atmosphere - nothing to complain about and reasonably priced as well. Excellent service all round.

Booked in for 4pm,with a dog. Seated in nice secluded bar area. All ordered the pork roast dinner and it was brilliant. Sides were brilliant, staff great and bowls/treats available for the dog too. Highly recommend if you're in the area.

Discovered by chance that this place does brunch. The empty car park suggests it's a little know fact or people don't rate it. We had coffee and the American pancakes with maple and bacon. Lovely. Definitely one worth discovering if you're in the area. If this was helpful please give it a like.

Good food. Good service and handy location on a main route through Thornton to Fleetwood. The junction nearby is currently a nightmare however! The waiter we had was great with the kids, really patient with them. We had the fish goujon butty, it was quite big and filling and not too badly priced. Kids had the 2 courses for £6.99 and they were good portions too. The pictures are of the food after we had started eating as we were all starving and tucked straight into it. The decor of the pub is lovely and it was a peaceful place to sit for lunch.

We arrived greeted fine and sat down . It was a while before being offered drinks and I had to ask for a drinks menu . We knew what we wanted to eat but as soon as I asked I was told they didn't have the trio roast and no turkey. So we had to order beef which we didn't really want . 10 mins later the waitress came over said sorry they sold the last 2 beef so all we could pick was a rib of beef or pork . The Rib was all we could pick as we didn't like pork it was more expensive as well so I wasn't best pleased. My daughter at this point wanted to go home . We got our meals my daughter loves parsnips but none were to be seen as advertised on the menu also they said it was maple roasted carrots they were just boiled carrots . And the roast potatoes as advertised with garlic and rosemary were definitely not that . Not once did the waitress ask if everything was OK. I then asked for puddings to be told 2 of them they didn't have and the coffee machine had apparently blown up so I couldn't even have that. I have to say I won't want to eat there again ii was a really depressing meal for a mothers day. I just can't believe you can't make sure to have enough stock in and make sure to tell people about the stuff you don't have as soon as they sit down. If it wasn't for mothers day I would of gone elsewhere.

First-class service excellent food. A lovely smart/casual place, its decor and cleanliness stand out. well done to the team, our evening meal was a delight. We will be returning soon. Thank you all

Went in last night, the place is clean and very well decorated, the man who set us at our table was very pleasent and friendly and made us feel very welcome. The only downside was the food, we were adviced that the soup of the day was pumpkin and butternut squash however it came out as onion soup. My starter of chicken was cold but it was still tasty. The glazed veg was not glazed just steamed and the cheese cake was a hot pile of goo and mush. They were short staffed so hopefully it will improve.

Fish and chips takeaway
Kays Fish & Chips in Cleveleys is a popular spot known for its consistent and high-quality fish and chips. While it may not be the most affordable option, customers believe that you get what you pay for. The skilled fryer ensures that each piece of fish is perfectly battered and cooked to perfection, even during busy times when the restaurant is full and queues are out the door. With his dry wit and no-nonsense attitude, he efficiently keeps everything moving.
I'm proud to have Kays as my local chippy. The fish & chips are beyond compare. Friends from where I used to live visit me & I always get some for my guests at least one night of their stay with me, they are always very impressed. Friends from France were delighted, as proper seaside fish & chips is something they don't get in their part of France. Once I cut time away short by a day & drove for 4 hours, purely to get a chippy tea from here. It was deffo worth the drive for the feeling of satisfaction after eating our fish & chips from the paper in my garden. keep up the fantastic fish & chips.

Got recommended by a friend of ours who lives in Blackpool and weren't disappointed. The boyfriend and I shared a large fish and chips but I had to order another normal fish as it was so nice just for myself! The chips and mushy peas were amazing too. Probably the best chippy we've had in the last two or three years.
Derek Bates — Google review
As good as you'd expect from our much-loved, celebrated and repeat-awarded best chippy! Excellent, just what we needed on a miserable wet February night!
Helen Sinclair — Google review
Food good, prices bit over the top, just short of 30 quid for 2 people, fish and chips, fish chips and mushy peas, 1 tea and can of sprite, (£1.80 a can!!!)

Love this chippy in Cleveleys. Its prices are higher than a lot on the Fylde coast but the quality and cleanliness is top notch. You can eat in or take away. There are separate doors for the dining experience you prefer. Today we ate in. The dining area is bright and clean. It’s not fancy but it’s all you need in a chippy. We had cod each. Shared a regular chips and a portion of mushy peas. Tea to drink and a can of pop. There were Xmas decorations up. Nothing OTT but it doesn’t need to be. Had a holly design on the napkin. (Liked that!) It’s table service. Today we easily got seated. It’s more often full and you may have to wait to be seated or share a table. Enough high chairs for little ones and the toilets have a fold down changing table. There are disabled aids in the toilet as well. The cod was freshly cooked, crispy batter and meaty flakes of fish. It’s cooked fresh to order so lovely and hot. Proper potato ‘chippy’ chips again fresh and piping hot. Tea served in a mug with milk and sugar on the side. There was no special offer menu available today . We drive to Cleveleys to go to this chip shop when we want a chippy dinner. Highly recommend its worth the price paid 💖💖💖

We visit Cleveleys at least once a month and always call here for fish and chips. Lots of people point out it isn't the cheapest, but you get what you pay for and it's consistently good. In my opinion, it's the best in the area. The guy that fries the fish knows the job like the back of his hand, even when the restaurant is full and the queues out the door, he knows who's having what and he keeps everything moving, he has a dry wit and stands no nonsense, haha, he makes my day and the fish is battered and cooked to perfection by him every single time, he's great. So, 5 stars from me, was perfect again today and no doubt will be when I return in a few weeks.☺️💜

An old fashioned , unpretentious fish and chip shop serving brilliant food and drinks at good prices. Eat in or takeaway from the counter. Friendly and very efficient staff. Gets extremely busy at peak periods, which is always a good sign. A great place but relatively small seating area . Don’t expect the Ritz and you’ll be fine. Well recommended.

I have visited this establishment several times, and the the woman on the till is miserable! Don't get me wrong the food was good, but it was expensive for what you got! Nearly £9 just for a regular cod which is a tad expensive. The woman behind the till was the most miserable, non welcoming person I've encountered. No smile on her face whatsoever! If you're going to charge a lot for simple fish and chips at least have good customer service! The chips themselves were nice but not the best chips I've ever had. Fish it left a lot to be desired the last time I went, the batter was not very moist! It was nice don't get me wrong! Just when you take into account the price of the food and the cheerless woman behind the till it isn't for me. I understand Cod and fish aren't cheap anymore but try and make an effort to be more passionate about your customer service! I'm giving the establishment three stars. I think that's a fair evaluation of it as it's nice enough but not the standard they charge you.

Really good local, very clean, 'chippy' good sit down resturant and a separate take out area, clean toilets, and cash or card taken All food cooked fresh, always asked as you enter do you want fish.?? Various types, and sizes , and much batter do you want Lots of free parking within 1 minutes walk, payable car park, within 1 minutes walk, and Kays is part of Cleveleys bus station so good local transport. Really worth going to.
John Gavin — Google review
Have seen a number of positive reviews about this chippy. Even viewed one on You Tube so decided to take a drive and check it out. Easy enough to find with 2 large pay and display car parks directly across the road. Obviously this is nothing to do with my review of this business but pricing for the car park is far from user friendly. You can pay for one hour or three hours. One hour might not be enough for your meal. Three is obviously over long. A bit strange why the option to pay for two hours wasn’t available. Also although it’s just across the road the kerbs on both sides were quite high. Didn’t see any dropped kerbs so anyone in a wheelchair or with very limited mobility might have a struggle. Of course this is down to the local council. All the more annoying when they expect small businesses to make adaptations and provision for those with compromised mobility. There is a ramp up to the door into the chippy with a barrier offering a hand rail. Inside looked wheelchair friendly with no steps that I could see. They also had a disabled toilet. I didn’t use this but did use the men’s. Although compact it was very neat and tidy and the water from the sink nice and hot. We got there around 1.30 pm or so on a Tuesday afternoon in March and it looked busy. I think we just about managed to get the last free table. The menu is not extensive just good old staples for a chippy. Despite them being busy we didn’t have to wait long for our order to be taken. Unfortunately there were no specials on the menu and this was confirmed by the server. So I opted for large haddock, chips and curry sauce. With a can of coke and a slice of bread and butter. My brother opted for the regular cod with chips and mushy peas and a cup of tea. You have a choice with the curry sauce. You can have spicy or fruity. I opted for the spicy. We didn’t have to wait long for our meals to be served. The food was piping hot. I have to admit I have had better chips. But then again I have had a lot worse as well. However, my haddock was lovely. One of the best fish I have had in a long time. The curry sauce had a bit of a kick to it. Sometimes you didn’t notice it, then the next taste you could detect that spiciness. It was more suited to dipping your chips into. I think if you had poured it over your chips it would have been over powering. But some might like it like that. I had a few of my brothers mushy peas. Again I liked them. Prices seemed to be in line with other establishments and competitive. Our bill came to £27.85. I still think it would have been nice if they had a special on with fish and chips, a side order and a drink. Lot of other places do this and it all helps in these costly times. Portion size was very good especially my large haddock. It’s hard to judge the size difference of my large haddock compared to my brothers regular cod on the photos. Be aware the plate my meal came on was much bigger. And, as I said, I thought this was one of the nicest fish I have had in a while. I would go back to Kay’s fish & chips and I would recommend it. However, you might be wise to pick your time to visit. If it’s this popular and busy on a Tuesday afternoon in March what will it be like in the summer?

We visit Kays every Friday evening and it's been excellent. Today we went at lunchtime. It was awful! Staff were nowhere near as friendly as the evening staff, they had no salad to go with the scampi(as advertised)which I usually enjoy. The meal looked bland so I asked for mushy peas as there was no salad for which no doubt I was charged. They also had no chicken curry. Bear in mind they had only recently opened for lunch. Very disappointed regular customer. Will not return for some time.

On a recent trip to Cleveleys my partner took me to Kays for fish and chips. I have to say that it was absolutely top class...the fish, chips and the service were all excellent. I would definitely recommend if your in the Northwest well worth a visit Five Star's without doubt. Many Thanks.

Is usually one of the nicest chip shops around but the prices are just getting to much now. I paid £16 for take out cheesey chips with gravy, a a jacket potato with beans and cheese, 1 small sausage for the dog and 2 cans last week and to be honest it wasn’t great ether. I’ve not enjoyed it like I used to the past few times so i won’t be going back for while. Think they’ve outpriced themselves.

The food was fantastic, l have had Calamari many, many times but this was the Best l have ever tasted. It was amazing. Pizzas and garlic bread are made fresh and taste wonderful. Pulcinella is one of the best Italian’s I have ever visited. The staff were friendly and welcoming - they provided outstanding service. The atmosphere was amazing. The food was absolutely delicious. They produce the most incredible, authentic dishes. I can honestly say I have ate the best garlic bread I have ever had - credit to the chefs, I felt as if I was in Italy. I cannot recommend Pulcinella enough. I have been to Italy on multiple occasions and this restaurant provided better, more authentic food, atmosphere, and service than anywhere else I have visited. Pulcinellas seems to be an all male service and is a rarity in the world of Italian eateries as it's LGBTQ+ friendly. This visit is only a 'fair' overall food rating in that the fish and shellfish stew contained a large piece of 'off' fish. I spat it back onto the spoon and informed the staff. I was told I had already eaten half so I could pay for the half of the dish I'd eaten. Okay. We totally understand there are fraudsters out there. We aren't those people. In the end we were not charged for the fish/shellfish stew. Such a shame about that one piece of fish (assuming it was just the one as lits left on plate) but these things can happen. I chose the stew with expectation of a delicious soup base with carefully placed high quality seafood. A light hand from a confident, calm chef might have seriously helped the food experience overall (every diner is a food critic). My stew would have been improved by a 'less is more' approach - less pink trout/rock salmon and gungho plating to start with, and more use of the human nose to detect rancid fish prior to cooking. The shellfish were seriously overcooked which was such a shame. Pulcinella has an early doors set menu 'tho we preferred the full menu options. Other half said the hand made pasta was lovely but the weird addition of crunchy demerara sugar on top spoilt it. I sampled and had to agree. Ask to leave that out if you do choose to eat here. House white was lovely - shame I left the undrunk wine behind whilst paying. Oops. Asked for and got a crispy canoli as dessert, which one of the waiters said I was very lucky to get so I say thank you so much for going to that extra effort. My review is based on personal experience of dinner service on 19/07/2023. I pride myself on giving reflective and fair reviews.

I wasn't blown away by the food, however it was still tasty, hot and freshly made. There wasn't much zucchini in my batter (starter) and the menu stated it came with a flavoured mayo and mine was plain. I could've had more duck in my pasta main but my husband said his pizza was good and his bruschetta (?) was loaded with tomatoes. The service was outstanding. Very happy attentive staff and the atmosphere was excellent. A very popular busy restaurant. Prices as you would expect. An enjoyable evening 😊 ps wine was lovely 😍

The restaurant has a Michelin Bib Gourmand and 2 AA Rosettes. The menu uses local and seasonal produce to add exciting and innovative twists to classic British food.
Twelves is the place to come, fantastic food, brilliant service and on top of all, friendly staff! Me and my family have been coming for years and never ONCE was disappointed by service. Would recommend the vegetarian wellington as shown in the photo below; it was very good! Quality here is top notch, if your in the area… do come here and it will also help support the local business. Omg this IS an awesome dining experience, it's a must if you're a foodie!!! From entering this restaurant to leaving the staff, service and food have been exceptionally good. It was my first time here but it won't be my last. I had chicken liver parfait with orange marmalade and gingerbread, then Bowland Beef fillet with cottage pie tart and orange ketchup, with a side of chargrilled vegetables and mash, then banana butty 2021 with a biscoff shake (apparently their signature dessert). My friend opted for treacle seared salmon, then 3 cuts of Bowland Beef, peppercorn sauce, black garlic puree with same vegetables and mash, then Parma violet meringue, biscoff panacotta with strawberries plus a lovely bottle of merlot with the meal... The decor is modern with a steam punk twist, dining tables and chairs plus padded leather booths. You could choose one of their many cocktails from the menu or wine and spirits. There is no rush here, just relax and enjoy your meal and the ambience...

Visited on a Thursday evening. Fabulous food and service. The slices of beef were delicious The only slight criticism was that a bottle of water was already on the table when we were seated. We assumed it was free and part of the fine dining service. Unfortunately this wasn’t the case and we were charged £4.30 for the bottle. The total bill for two was nearly £95. Next time we visit we will make a point of stating we don’t want water. Two pints of beer and a Prosecco was sufficient.

We had the absolute pleasure of Twelve catering our wedding recently and I couldn’t recommend them enough. Caroline and Paul went to such lengths for everything to be absolutely perfect, it was absolutely incredible. From creating our bespoke menu that suited us down to a tee, to helping us with the running order of the day, they really went over and above “catering”. The staff were absolutely incredible, with impeccable service, and again went above and beyond what they needed to do, helping everywhere they could. The food was of course incredible too, every detail was perfect. I had a few guests with allergies and all of them said they felt so catered to. One guest who is Coeliac said she always gets fruit as a desert because it’s the easiest thing for chefs and Paul not only provided her with an almost identical desert to the rest of the guests, but a trio of mini deserts – she was very happy! We’ve had so many compliments on the food, the service and the staff. Thank you so much to everyone at Twelve!

We drove more than an hour away to try this place. At first, we struggled to find parking, but the service was what you would like in any restaurant. It was exceptional. The food was delicious. The main courses seemed shockingly small, however they were surprisingly filling. We were also fortunate to have a booth-like seating area, with a bit more privacy. Throughout, the atmosphere is welcoming and calm. It was not too crowded (but our visit was during opening time and a weekday). There is warm lighting throughout; modern decor with some famous faces and, fitting background music. We really enjoyed our visit. We left quite content. Thank you.

Michael's Indian Restaurant is a clever eatery that offers a creative menu featuring contemporary twists on traditional Indian dishes. With the added convenience of takeaway service, this South Asian establishment stands out. Their extensive selection includes an assortment of updated Indian classics, accompanied by delectable sauces like their renowned Korma sauce. The kebab meat is flavorful and freshly prepared, while the naan bread is truly remarkable. Furthermore, their chip shop style fries are unbeatable.
When people told me about the kebabs i thought people were over exaggerating! They weren't!! The kebabs are absolutely huge haha the bag is literally heavy and for a great price. Never had any issues, use them twice a month usually. Recommended!

Ordered 2 mixed kebabs online for a pick up, it was pretty straight forward and easy to do but the food I received was absolutely awful. It had a strange taste to, almost like the meat is on the verge of going/is off, it certainly is nothing like it used to be, the flavour just isn't there. The size is still great but if it's not edible it's pretty pointless. If I lived closer I would have been taking it back, instead they've lost a customer as the quality is sadly no longer there.

Wow, what can I say! So, last night, myself and the family ordered a large mixed kebab, 2 kids meals, and a portion of Korma sauce . Food arrived earlier than quoted, and was piping hot on delivery. Where do I start, the kebab meat was fresh, flavoursome and the naan, wow ! Unbelievable! The korma sauce was just beautiful. Absolutely beautiful. Never tasted a korma sauce as good ! Writing this review is making me dribble! Lastly, the chips, you cannot beat chip shop style chips, and that's exactly what these guys do ! Michaels, absolutely unbelievable. Thankyou for an amazing meal ! 😋 keep up the mint work guys

Really gone downhill. Used to be the best in town, both Thornton and Blackpool restaurants. Front of house staff look unkempt, one guy smelt so badly of cigarettes that the smell lingered on our water glasses - disgusting. Website all outdated. States under 12s free for buffet. Got charged £7.50 for 2 yr old who picked at some rice and had two scoops of ice cream. When I challenged it I was told that kids in highchairs are free and 'its still bloody cheap!' It's not cheap if the food is poor, which it was. Neither of us ate our monies worth, which is pretty pathetic for an all you can eat buffet. Let's not go there about the tiny elf sized portions of dessert 🤣 Jack of all trades; Indian, fish and chips, kebabs, pizza - stick to one thing and do it well. Never again I'm afraid.

Michael's serves hugely tasty Indian food however, due to the recent lockdown they have also decided to sell fish and chips and Southern fried chicken. It is honestly the best fish and chips I have ever had and they taste just like fish and chips should do. A large portion easily feeds 2 people.
