Ruined medieval priory and fortress with interactive displays, restored gun battery and sea views.
What a fantastic venue to hold a food festival. More councils should make use of historic ruinous buildings. Families with fold out chairs, blankets for picnics, food & drink vendors, and a live music stage - all for only £4 entry. Superb!

If you visiting English east coast , pop in to visit Priory and Castle. Its situated above beach , and behind you could find small town centre with great restaurants and pubs which lures local tourists for a meal and drink. Down bellow on beach itself you could spot some surfers at summer time ,as its shallow and creates nice mild waves perfect for beginners. Great place and people out there.

My first review disappeared This castle and priory are very interesting and well worth a visit. The ruins are steeped in history and you can note the beauty of the sandstone which has been weathered by the wind and salty atmosphere, the small chapel with stained glass windows is particularly beautiful. Also of interest is the cemetery with the raised horizontal grave stones. Most of the vertical grave stones are inclined probably due to the wind over the centuries. If you are in the area don't miss the opportunity to visit, you won't regret it.

“Each to their own.” I am someone who loves beautiful scenery, nature, good food, and most especially, a place that is rich in culture and history. If you’re the same as me, then this one is for you! Truly, a feast to my eyes. I am in awe. If you wanted to take beautiful photos for memories or have a new profile picture, Tynemouth Priory and Castle will not disappoint. I felt a surge of emotions when I saw the ruins. The mighty castle before turned to an attraction and education makes me sentimental. Years from now, our fate and homes could have the same fate with the people who lived there. The houses and establishments before going to the castle are in Victorian style. Just imagine that instead of cars, there are carriages! Oh my! #BridgertonFeels There are many restaurants in the area so you do not need to worry if you feel hungry. If you wanted to travel more to other English Heritage sites, I suggest you to have a membership so you’ll get discounts.

Wonderful views of the North East Coast. St Mary's Lighthouse to the North and Souter point to the south. Lovely day today but wrap up warm if the North Sea bares her teeth. Lovely and tidy and well presented.

Great priory and castle grounds to visit. There is so much to see here; you can easily spend a few hours here. Tynemouth sits on the coast and the views are amazing. The priory was protected by the castle walls, towers and gatehouse. After the monastery was suppressed in the reign of Henry VIII (1509–47), Tynemouth headland became a coastal fortress and remained so until 1956, because of its strategic position at the mouth of the river Tyne.

Fabulous place to visit - ruin ls and Whats left of a WWII gunnery. Fabulous views too. Onsite parking for disabled people which will be great for my next trip with mum
Gill Nash — Google review
Haven’t visited the inside of the castle but it already looks stunning in the outside. A lot of cafes nearby which is great spot for tourists who want to have a great view of the coast and to fill their tummies in😀 you can as well enjoy the beach below. Will be going back again to look what are stored inside

Lovely spot by the sea. Bit of history and a nice walk. Parking near by and lovely sea views. Dog friendly and toilets available. Also an ice cream van outside on hot days. Easy to walk to Tynemouth market or the Collingwood memorial
Sue Shellard — Google review
Tynemouth Priory and Castle is a very interesting historical landmark to visit. Lots of different periods of history are on the site. Lovely location on a headland with great views. Fabulous!
Jayne Hall — Google review
One of the beautiful scene in UK. Cold in winter so please bring a coat with you. Dogs will like to run freely in this place. Waves and tides are actively dancing. Restaurants and couples of car parks nearby. Excellent choice for spending a weekend with your friends or family here. Lastly, I love the seat which put there very much, it was well designed and be put at some perfect positions, I will draw something or read few pages on the seat in front of the sea and make friends with the birds.

Thanks for My CADW Membership status I had a chance to enter for FREE even despite just 30mins left before closing time! (Godbless Staff Member who let me in! 🙏). ...and You know what? This half an hour was definitely enough to (-speedy - 💨tbh) explore it! Beautiful set up, on the edge of cliff site brings me some kind of associations with Whitby Abbey! Great piece of history but pity that not much left. This military stuff also ruins a bit of atmosphere but understand the importance of it. Still worth it but I would feel probably ripped off if have to pay full price! 🏰⛪🪖
Mart W. — Google review
An old priory mostly in its ruins. The site is managed by English Heritage and free for the members while non members will have to pay. Vast area and very good sea view. It has a stunning view of the Tynemouth lighthouse. That which is still in its original position will be the chapel in the priory. The interior of the chapel reminded me of something I saw in St Giles cathedral in Edinburgh.
Stanly Palathingal — Google review
Beautiful ruins at a spectacular beach cliff at the mouth of the Tyne river. Also good views from the Newcastle - Amsterdam ferry. Only remark: why allow the ice cream truck to park tight in front of the ruins, spoiling the views and pictures.
Pedro de Pedra — Google review
Beautiful scenery when the sun is out! Didn't go into the castle, though.
Daniel Simandjuntak — Google review
Another place in the North East steeped in history. A scenic ally located Priory and fortified headland. Excellent storyboards laid out to describe the events. Great views of the sea and Tyne estuary. From ancient to modern are encapsulated within its walls. No parking but there is close by No cafe so take a picnic
Graham Dodd — Google review
Family day out to Tynemouth and took the kids to the castle and priory. Very well kept ruins. Able to access most areas and explore. Information signs limited so if you want to know more would be worth buying the guide on entry.
anthony robinson — Google review
Really cool place. Thought we were going to see part of Hadrian’s wall but found this neat place right on the coast. Beautiful little town with scenic views. The Property and Castle had quite a bit of interesting history. Fun place to walk around and enjoy the day.

Very interesting priory ruins and WW2 fortifications. Stunning views across the mouth of the Tyne and Tynemouth beaches.
David C — Google review
Timed our visit to coincide with the knights tournament and so glad we did! The knights certainly went for it and were great entertainment! The priory is located close to the high street which offers plenty of parking and opportunities for refreshments

Chocolate cafe
A box of freshly made chocolates from Gareth James Chocolatier makes for an excellent gift to share with your housemates. This chocolate cafe and artisan store offers a variety of delectable treats, including handmade chocolates in both unique and traditional flavors. The adjacent cafe is filled with tempting sweet goodies, creating the perfect setting for enjoying an afternoon pick-me-up.
Lovely brownies. Rich and very sticky. The Christmas Pudding Brownie is superb. Very seasonal and not too sweet. Coffee is always lovely. Today’s flat white was the perfect temperature (not too hot). Staff are always friendly and helpful.
Richard Foster — Google review
Superb hand made fresh chocolates. Good flavours as well as plainer ones. Helpful service. Classy box for gifting, or slightly cheaper bag for your own consumption (couldn't resist a few for ourselves as well as the special gift we went for). We'll be back again I'm sure.
Pauline Laing — Google review
My new favourite coffee spot! The coffee is made with such care, served to the right temperature (unlike a lot of other places), and tastes delicious! My favourite is the white mocha made with their chocolate made fresh in store rather than powdered chocolate and you can really taste the difference. I’ve just tried the brownies for the first time after reading the reviews and wow.. they did not disappoint. So far, I’ve had a caramel brownie and a normal chocolate brownie and I have to say even though I loved both, the original chocolate brownie was my favourite. Probably the best brownie I have had. I’ve also tried the millionaire shortbread which was delicious too!
Samantha Louise — Google review
Went in for a hot chocolate treat and no tables were free. Ordered in a takeaway cup and stood waiting for a table. When one came up I went and sat down. Was told to move so someone with a regular cup could sit down who had just arrived and was ordering a drink. Had to move and continue standing. Great hot chocolate, rude and poor service. Will not return.
Rebecca Brown — Google review
Fantastic small coffee and cake/chocolate shop. Their chocolate brownies are well worth trying. VERY dense and rich! They also sell high end chocolates and bakes, great for a last minute gift!
Ali Graham — Google review
Good coffee and cake. Pleasant and friendly staff.

Coffee - amazing. Brownies and choc - amazing. Nice small chilled out seating area inside. Some of the best coffee I've had in a while. Very good barista when we went in. A tad dear but for the quality it's worth it.

One of the Best place for a coffe and cake we visited for a long time in UK. Young stuff servesed our family in cafe in the rainy morning and it is was perfect. Hot chocolate, coffee, Almond cake and handmade chocolate candys were delicious. Atmosfere was calm. This cafe is the Pearl of North Englang coast. Would like to have the same cafe near my home. Thank you for a welcoming! 🙏

Visited this shop earlier in the week 40 min before closing. Immediately I was greeted to a face of disappointment and told that they were closing soon and last sit downs are in ten min. I asked if it’s okay if we sat in for a coffee? The lady behind the counter said “I don’t think it is, I better check”. I walked out.
james farwell — Google review
We had tea and Almond cake, it was very nice. We can see the passion behind the brand. However when we chatted with the owner Gareth, he came across very defensive and no generosity, when I asked if he had any chocolate that we could sample before we buy, he was unwilling to promote his product.

Love this place. Lovely staff and fabulous produce. Obviously the chocolates are first rate but they also do lovely cakes and probably the best coffee in tynemouth.

Cappuccino and mint chocolate squares were both delicious! Service is friendly and prompt.

Riley's Fish Shack is a popular beachside spot located on King Edwards Bay beach, offering the option to reserve seats in the shack or relax in deck chairs with fire pits on the beach. While dogs are not allowed during summer, they are welcome from September to May, making it an ideal place for dog owners to enjoy the coast.
📍Riley's Fish Shack, Tynemouth With almost 1800 reviews and a 4.6 star rating in Google Reviews, this bar & grill is clearly amongst the top favourite restaurants in Tynemouth. Located at the beautiful King Edward's Bay, having a meal here directly facing the bay was a most picturesque experience. Despite the cuisine being on a the pricier side (dishes were generally 20 quid and above), the pleasant experience made it entirely worth it. The happy vibes and friendly staff, the amazing view, the ambience, the cool sea breeze caressing our skin, and the delicious food; just great. We ordered the 'Salted Hot Plate Hake' with Caper Butter, Potatoes, Salad and Sourdough. Grilled in wood-fire ovens, the Hake came out piping hot; it was fresh, and salted perfectly. With the culmination of herbs in the salad, char-grilled lemon and the freshly baked sourdough, it was a holistic dish. The diner next to me exclaimed that this is one of their favourite stalls. I love how Michelle and I stumbled upon this gem in Tynemouth; a spot I'd definitely visit again when I visit beautiful Tynemouth.

Absolutely loved this place! Some of the best seafood I've ever had and in such a lovely place. We sat here for about two hours with the fire pit and enjoyed the sunset. The food was hot, fresh, and tasted amazing. Definitely worth booking a table if you're in the area.
Craig Henderson — Google review
Riley's is a fantastic location to sit on the beach and enjoy some really good food and cocktails. I've visited a few times now and the food never disappoints. Fresh local fish, excellently cooked with a range of grown up sides and salads. Portions are generous but not over-facing especially when you consider your environment which lends itself to relaxed flowing conversation with friends. The cocktail list is well thought out, themed, and well paired with the food. Bear in mind Riley's only has a restaurant licence so if you do want cocktails you will need to order food. The team has an easy going welcoming air about them. You get the feeling nothing is too much trouble and they genuinely want you to have a good time, relax, and enjoy yourself. We were there quite late on Sunday evening and even though they were closing and getting ready to end their shift we didn't feel hassled or rushed. Some things to consider before you visit are: 1. There are a lot of steps from street level down to the beach and you have to climb back up again. 2.This is a popular destination so book in advance to avoid disappointment. Especially if you have just walked down all those steps to find out they don't have a table. 3. Check the weather as it can be cool on the beach although blankets are available and so are fire pits which are a must to get the full atmospheric experience.
Matt Cassady — Google review
The location is super good, there is place inside warm and even when it is windy, it's feel warm and comfy. The food is great and the chocolate was one of the best I ever had.. a really great experience for spring or summer. There is also some campfire on the beach. 🥹🥹

One of my favourite places, delicious food (oysters are just stunning! Lemon sole was amazing, too). You get to sit on the beach in dock chairs and enjoy the view. Definitely recommend for a special treat
Yulia Abramova — Google review
We had an amazing lunch today down by the beach! The salted hake was beautifully cooked, as was the steak! Friendly and quick service! It’s not cheap but you pay for great ingredients!! It’s a hidden gem and we’ll certainly return again!
Elisa Winstanley — Google review
Wow. What a great place. Right on the beach and only accessible by stairs is a shipping container turned into an amazing fish restaurant. There is limited in door seating with most guest on the beach protected by wind breaks and warmed by open wood fire pits. The food is rustic and delicious, will definitely be returning on my next trip. Don't miss out and remember to book ahead.
Paul Swaddle — Google review
Went with a group of 4 and a toddler. Wish we had booked outdoor seating however with the weather being so unpredictable sitting inside worked out well as we enjoyed time in the beach in between courses and drinks. Everything was phenomenal, drinks, service and most importantly the food. We will definitely recommend to other people and visit again!

This is a must visit if in Newcastle area. Superb location and fantastic food. Booking essential. Although its a beach location its also great in winter too. The deck chairs, the customer fires, the views, the food. Love love love it !!!!!

Food, view, experience, staff, drinks were all amazing. I got the cod with lentil and black pudding and it was heavenly comfort food. Nothing beats eating brilliant food next to a roaring fire and listening to the ocean waves. Loved it.
Katie Jagger — Google review
Absolutely phenomenal! Incredibly fresh and delicious flavours. The chefs keep the dishes simple yet packed full of flavour and flare. I’ve only been to Riley’s a few times but each time has been wonderful. The staff are lovely and friendly. I do need to get in better shape to handle the stairs going back up though!
Rachel Holmes — Google review
My partner and I moved to Newcastle in January 2023 and we've been here at least 5 times. It is the final destination on what is our weekend tour of Newcastle and the North East, and it's always the highlight of our guests trip. This place is absolutely sensational, and not to be missed. Great drinks of course but the fish and potatoes and salad are the essentials. The menu changes so it's always interesting, and never disappoints. And the view of the sea makes this a very very special place indeed.
Matthew Coakley — Google review
Had a wonderful experience at Riley's! We all agreed it was some of the best seafood we have eaten - everything we tried was absolutely delicious and the portion sizes were also very reasonable. The atmosphere was cosy and unique, with a log burner to keep us toasty outside and view of the beach. It does get a bit smokey, but we felt this added to the beachy atmosphere! Service was good and our food was brought out fairly promptly. Will definitely be returning with visiting friends and family!
Rosie Musgrave — Google review
One word: unbelievable. We’ve been dying to go to Riley’s for years but for one reason or another, haven’t made it until now. Let me tell you, it was worth the wait! We went into a bit of a frenzy ordering as everything looked delicious! We had: The harissa marinated skate wing Chilli fish empanada Monkfish tail wrap Oysters Langoustines in a lemon butter Squid with mojo verde All washed down with a beautiful bottle of white! The food was well complemented by the awesome positioning of the restaurant overlooking the sea. We sat in the shack but I think next time we’d probably try the deckchairs actually on the beach. Staff were really friendly and where we were sat with the kitchen pass behind us, we had a bird’s eye view on all the other dishes, too! We’ll definitely be back!

Lunch. A must when visiting the North East. You're not a true foodie if you don't know about it here. Be prepared to walk down some steep steps. Located (literally) on the shorefront at King Edward Bay, Tynemouth, the small bay right next to the Priory, Rileys Fish Shack prepares, cooks and serves its fresh fish from two converted shipping containers that they custom designed and installed. Like the simplicity of the food, as an eatery is honest and rustic. We didn't book,as who wants to go and eat on the beach in winter? How wrong can you be. Turns out everybody does. There's not much seating – a few indoor wooden tables and some on the balcony. So, deck chairs on the beach on the beach it is then. The menu is on a daily changing board with so much choice, you are spoilt. We decided on North Sea Squid with artichoke, black olive & pine nut salsa £15. Polenta Coated Haddock & salsa verde £11. Monkfish tail wrap with a mixed side £28 which was huge and cooked to perfection. Everything was cooked fresh to order and filled a gap nicely. If you like fish dishes and dining on the beach, then get yourselves down here. But make sure you book. Having said that, if you are prepared to wait, a table might come free as it did for us. If not, you can always sit on the beach in deck chair.
Guys Who Dine — Google review
Great spot right on the beach, amazing seafood . Very limited indoor seating and can be a bit chilly out on the deck through the winter months, blankets are provided but they won't keep your food warm if the winds blowing
tim mcgillivary — Google review
First time here, unfortunately the weather was awful but that didn't take anything away for amazing food. Not the cheapest and about a 15% service charge seemed high but you can choose not to pay that.
Matt “carbonatron” Jackson — Google review
Came here on a recommendation and definitely didn't regret it! You have to book in advance but you've got the option of sitting inside beside wood fired stoves, on their decking or on some deck chairs on the beach. For a cold day, sitting in the warmth was just lovely. The service was excellent and you can have a range of smaller dishes or go for a big one. We had the Monkfish kebab, langoustines, fish empanada and rosemary potatoes. All absolutely excellent. The kebab was packed with flavour and is huge; The empanada came with the most amazing fresh salad and aioli; The langoustines were buttery and the sourdough bread to mop up the sauce was excellent. Finally the potatoes I could have just had on their own, amazingly seasoned and crispy. Highly recommended.

Lovely shop, with lovely staff and unique items. The clothes are so unique and amazing, and so is the Nepalese jewellery. Cute place to have a look in after a walk on the beach, but it is veryy expensive. Other than the price, it is one of my favourite shops ever and I always need to have a look in whenever I am in Tynemouth.

The restaurant features an outdoor dining area ideal for enjoying the sunshine on weekends, while inside, candlelit tables create a romantic ambiance for date nights. Tasty food , reasonable prices. It has a ramp entrance so easy to get in with a buggy or those in a wheelchair. It has a disabled toilet and baby change. There are also seats outside but can't comment on those as we sat inside. I had Eggs Royale for £11. On the photo is also a small English Breakfast too, don't remember how much was that. Coffee is okay.

The food here is delicious, and there was plenty of it! Got the lunch time tapas deal which knocked about £10 off my bill so we obviously ordered some cocktails which we also got on a deal! Food and Drinks menus had lots of great options, will have to come back to try something else next time.

Fabulous bottomless brunch. The tapas selection was excellent and very tasty and the two male staff members serving the food and drinks were great. Always at hand to fill up our drinks. This was a Wowcher deal and we would definitely return.

Went on a Sunday. It was really busy but managed to get a table as others were leaving. Staff were great and made space for me and the family of 4 including a baby. The ultimate breakfast was definitely the best I've had in a long time and will be returning when in the area. Recommend this if looking for somewhere for breakfast for sure

Went for breakfast this morning in tynemouth. Didn't book so we went to the first place that was open which was Ora. We were greeted by a lovely lady who took us to a seat outside and took our drinks order. Table was very clean and a spacious area. Ordered the king breakfast for both me and my partner. Came out within about 7 minutes. Large portion and very nicely cooked. Poached eggs were perfect. The black pudding was to die for and very rich tasting. Pleasant experience and friendly polite staff

Steve Martin — Google review
The food was absolutely lovely, we had Tapas and it tasted really good! The wine wasn't great unfortunately. I think the bottle might have been open a while. I booked it for my birthday stating this on the online booking but there wasn't any recognition of this when I gave them my booking on entrance. When we walked in, alot of the tables were dirty and I couldn't tell the staff from the customers. It was boiling hot outside and absolutely freezing inside. The restaurant had more of a feel of a bar to it and when I went to use the toilets 2 of them wouldn't lock. When I booked it online it looked like a lush restaurant. The waiting staff were friendly but a bit distant and forgot our cutlery after giving us food. The food was really tasty but I probably wouldn't go again as it felt like I was sat in a freezing sports bar having nice food, it was just a bit of a confused place. Prefer pleased to meet you next door.
Charli Webb — Google review
We went in on Saturday evening around 6pm. Service was good, I would say we had drinks to the table in 10 minutes and food in 30 mins. Food was delicious and fairly priced, best dish we got was the tempura prawns. 6 dishes between 2 was plenty enough, will be returning!
Alex Bellew — Google review
Absolutely abysmal. Firstly, the service was terrible. Took over 20 minutes to order drinks and then another 25 minutes to order food. Once ordered, both the drinks and food took extremely long to arrive. We ordered nachos as a starter and they were extremely disappointing. For mains we ordered around 8 tapas dishes and some other meals including the chicken Caesar salad. There were 3 large pieces of plastic (!!!) found in the bruschetta which put everyone off their food. The chicken Caesar salad was tasteless and the chicken was chewy and not even cut up. The staff offered us a free dessert because of this, but we declined as we were put off eating any more food here. Another issue was that the toilets were extremely dirty; there was no hand soap, hand towels and the hand dryer did not work. Absolutely avoid this place.
J James — Google review
Booked our table as didn't want to be disappointed of getting in but the time we went we probably could have just walked in. Food was absolutely gorgeous, would recommend the Spanish Grazing board to share and the Goats Cheese bon bons were also delicious. We had to ask for some cutlery as they had forgot to give us ours but they apologised. Would definitely go back well worth the money 3 tapas for £17.95
Tracey Middleton — Google review
Relaxed casual atmosphere. Good deals for cocktails. Tapas we're excellent generous proportions. The things which will definitely get us returning are a) Dog friendly b) Geordie Banger sausages provided for all three dogs!
Elizabeth Purcell — Google review
Hi all just been for tapas and got the meai deal, it's a rip off we were not told the deal is for 1 person only. That means it will cost £36 for 2. If you buy the normal tapas it will cost approximately £27. Apart from that the food is very good. Don't like leaving a restaurant feeling hungry.
Jim Maughan — Google review
First time trying here and it certainly won't be the last. Service was ok bearing in mind it was a busy Saturday afternoon. Food was amazing! Decided to try a couple of tapas plates and a side. I had the chilli with tortilla's and the fish goujouns with a side of onion rings and although there was a bit of a wait for food it was well worth it, everything was cooked fresh and arrived piping hot. I did however think the chilli was overpriced for the portion size but everything thing else more than made up for it, fish goujouns were amazing. Now.. I have a bit of a thing for onion rings and they weren't an option on the sides menu but I'd noticed they came with the steaks so I asked my server if it would be possible to have them as a side and she initially said no but then went to check with the chef and he/she kindly said they could do it.. Soooo pleased that they did, best onion rings I've ever tasted in my life bearing in mind I've visited 12 states in the U.S and work in central London 5 days per month. (would go back just for them). Whoever is responsible for those rings of joy thank you. Ora you are so lucky to have some amazing chefs, please don't lose them. Sorry I didn't think to take any pics, was too busy enjoying my food.

Restaurant
Lola Jeans Tynemouth is a trendy bar and restaurant nestled in the heart of Tynemouth. The establishment offers a delectable selection of American classics with an innovative twist, including juicy burgers with creative toppings, buffalo chicken wings, steaks, sandwiches, tacos, and sharing platters. Moreover, their impressive cocktail menu complements the dining experience perfectly. The venue boasts stylish decor featuring chandeliers, murals, and vintage furniture that create a lively yet relaxed atmosphere.
I visited Lola Jeans with my friends on a Sunday afternoon and we had a great time. The place is beautifully decorated with chandeliers, murals, and vintage furniture. The staff were friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere was lively and relaxed. We ordered some of their signature burgers and cocktails, and we were not disappointed. The burgers were juicy and flavorful, with generous toppings and sauces. The cocktails were well-made and refreshing, with a variety of options to suit different tastes. We especially enjoyed the Lola's Lemonade, a vodka-based drink with lemon, elderflower, and mint. The prices were reasonable for the quality and quantity of food and drinks. We paid about £20 per person, which included a burger, a side, and a cocktail. The portions were satisfying and we left feeling full and happy. Lola Jeans is a great place to go for a casual and fun night out. The food and drinks are delicious, the service is excellent, and the ambiance is cozy and charming. I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a bar and restaurant in Newcastle city centre.

I went in for a late lunch (about 2pm) on a Friday and there were a few empty tables. It's table service and I was quickly brought a menu and asked for a drinks order. They have a lot of different things on tap but they also have a great cocktail menu. The food is mostly burgers but I was told they've won awards for their burgers and, after getting a Cluck Norris chicken burger, I'm not surprised! It was one of the best burgers I've ever eaten. I was only sorry I didn't have enough time in Tynemouth to go back and get one of their beef burgers! I also got a salted caramel ice cream cheesecake, which was delicious. The staff were all lovely, really helpful and friendly. Service was prompt but you're absolutely not rushed. The atmosphere was relaxed and even though there weren't many people there, it didn't feel empty. It just felt very chilled. They do allow well behaved dogs, and there were a few in there, so if you're going for a walk nearby it's a great place to stop for food. Overall I would definitely recommend going here and if I get the chance, I'll be coming back.

Food and cocktails were so tasty! Loved the Korean tacos! Update on cocktails were much better than the previous time I visited and even the non alcoholic cocktails tasted just as good! Service was excellent!

If you’re obsessed with burger, just try Lola Jeans. A hidden gem in Tynemouth. A range of award winning burgers is the real. The atmosphere is very nice and the staff were friendly and welcoming they offer the best service I’ve ever had. I used to go to Lola Jeans Newcastle, but my first time here in Tynemouth. It’s literally worth, highly recommended.

The place is decorated really nice and the staff are really friendly and helpful with any queries you might have about the menu. The food choice is really good and it is really tasty too. I loved the drink menus so much choice and we didn't have wait for a table too.

The James P Sullivan burger is probably the best burger I've ever had. I got the chilli cheese beef chips which were also fantastic. Not often you get so much food when it tastes that good, it was sticking out my back and we only got one course. Tremendous. Honourable mentiom also to the cocktails which my wife said were good. Also the staff were sound as a pound

Italian restaurant
Davanti Classico, an Italian restaurant located in Tynemouth's rail station, is highly regarded by Tripadvisor reviewers as the best Italian eatery in the area. The pizza and seafood pastas receive high praise from patrons. At a price of 8.95, the 'Rapido' menu offers two courses until 5pm on Fridays. This hidden gem is situated in the historic waiting room of the old station and provides excellent service with friendly and helpful staff.
Went out for a first date night since the arrival of the little fella and was a nice start! The place was absolutely packed and have not been here for two years. They have additional seating outside which is a little chilly. Wine was okay and meal was decent. Arranchini were cold however very tasty and the half and half is a favourite of mine. Nothing will beat Sambuca but this is a close second!

The food was uneditable and they stuck us next to a circus land of kids and family’s yelling. This was one of the worst meals I have had in a very long time. From San Francisco. Say no more……do not waste your money.

So heard good things about this place, finally paid a visit to find out the reviews were from the previous owners absolutely Shocking now !!!! visited at lunch time with my Boyfriend... 1st The Service..... was slow, even after we had finished our starters (which I will get into in a moment...) our empty plates were sat for a good 10 minutes before anyone noticed we had finished. finally come and took them away and asked if all was ok , once we had finished not during! we did not comment as of yet as wanted to see what our mains were like before commenting. 2nd Starters..... I ordered one of my Fave's, 'Cozze Crema' Mussels in a White wine sauce with sourdough. from the first bit there was a strange taste in the sauce, but I pursued with it. Mussel by Mussel they got worse and worse and I could not even finish them they were the worst I've ever eaten. My Boyfriend ordered 'Polpette Italian Meatballs', these were frozen meatballs, tasteless, stale and no flavour what so ever. 3rd..... As we are sat waiting for our mains, we hear a Microwave door and get turned on, we looked over to the kitchen instantly to see 2 Asians working in the kitchen of a so called Italian Restaurant!!! with the Microwave going a few times. 4th The Mains....25 minutes after our starters had been taken away, our main finally came. I asked "was any of this microwaved" Reply " yes!, just the Seasonal Veg"....Me "ok I am not eating that". Servers reply "I can swop it for salad, bread ect". I was not impressed, who wants salad with a hot Salmon in a sauce you want Veg, right!? anyways I went with Salad. Whilst the server had gone for the salad I take a look at my Salmon, peel back the skin to find this Fatty consistency, who gets fat on Salmon ?? and the salmon was mushy... turned to my Boyfriend to see his face after eating a little of his pasta, totally tasteless the same sauce the meatballs came in and when tried one of his Prawns he then passed me one to try.. this was the most chewiest prawn I had ever tried. Yes you got it, we did not finish eating the prawn it went straight back on the plate. 5th The Restaurant.... No background music, dated, no atmosphere what so ever and the staff were idol. The server then came back with my salad, this actually looked ok but when tried a cucumber and it was just full of oil... We complained to the server about the mains and starters and agreed we was not eating or buying anything else. he agreed for us to just pay for our drinks.. We headed over to pay and the guy taking payments then tried charging us for the starters, thee cheek after we had just been advised to only pay for drinks... We will most definitely not be back here. Shocking experience, both our stomachs have been feeling iffy since... We do not under any circumstances Advise anyone to eat here. Restaurant is super pretty! Service was wonderful and we were well looked after which is difficult to do considering how busy it gets. Food was fresh and tasty! We did order a foccacia which looked more like a garlic bread but it was still beautiful Cost about £50 for 2 people 2 mains and 2 sides with a shared starter. 2 soft drinks and tap water

It was an amazing experience. We called in at around 5.30 pm on Saturday night, and we hadn't booked hopping for a table, and we weren't disappointed although fully booked. We were offered a table where the staff were accommodating, welcoming, helpful, friendly, and attentive. The food was awesome. I could not recommend the lasagne enough absolutely out of this world......five stars isn't enough ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ that's better.

The picture doesn't do this justice. The food was fantastic, the atmosphere was great and the staff were really nice even though we had booked blue line taxis for 18:45pm and the never turned up. We rang Davanti to explain the situation and they were really understanding Davanti 5* Blue Line nil. We will definitely be back

This is a fantastic little restaurant tucked away in the old station waiting room. The service was excellent really friendly and helpful staff. The food is great really tasty and very reasonably priced. We had a half and half option of pizza and pasta good quality ingredients used. I would highly recommend this restaurant. They seem to cope well with large groups as there were at least 3 birthday party of about 15 in when we visited but it didn't affect the service we had. We will definitely be returning soon I hope 🥲🥲

Never expected a Restaurant next to Tynemouth Rail Station will be serving delicious Pizzas which tastes better than we'll known Italian Restaurants. Ordered Pizza Al Polo that was prepared in the oven right in front of the seating areas - it exceeded our expectations on Taste & Quality. Service Staff were Friendly, Ambience was Rustics and Appealing. There's nothing that one will not like being here. Great place to Dine with Friends & Family. Super Thumbs Up to this Restaurant.

Went for the special menu today. Starters were ok but the pizzas were tasteless. The bolognaise pizza was only made up with tomato purée, I think the chef had forgot to add the mince. I got a tuna pizza. Very thin pizza, no taste at all. Not a lot of tomato base or cheese so very dry. We will definitely not be returning

The setting for this restaurant is sublime.Beautiful building and the interior is stunning. So the food had a lot to live up to..... Our food came in good time and was simply divine. No over powering of garlic, not too much herbs etc, just a delicate balance of taste and heat (Depending on what you order), Even having no room for desert I had to try one and again (see pictures) it didn't fail to impress. If you are looking for quality Italian food , reasonably prices, with sublime flavors and great staff THIS is the place. Cant wait to go back!

Toilets need sorting! I love the food here but the toilets are disgusting, the baby changing table was covered in poo, the guy did clean it after i asked, the mens toilet has been wobbly for years and toilet seat loose, the womens toilet seat is loose and toilet paper all over. When people are spending decent money they expect clean and decent toilets

The Buddha Lounge is an incredibly impressive establishment with a captivating atmosphere. The ambiance is remarkable, enhanced by delightful music that allows for both conversation and self-reflection. The cuisine is extraordinary, centered around delectable Asian tapas that offer a pleasant change of pace. Although reminiscent of the peculiarities found at Wagayamamas, the experience here is far more successful.
All the staff were amazing, especially Jacob who went above and beyond to make our anniversary extra special. The food was delicious and the decor was beautiful. Thank you everyone for making our night so perfect!

Very impressed by the Buddha Lounge! We didn't have a reservation but the welcoming staff found us a table within a minute despite it being busy. All the staff were friendly and very attentive. I have had good lunches here, but this was our first evening meal. The service on a busy bank holiday Saturday was understandably slow and take a Sherpa with you if you need the washrooms, but the food was superb, plentiful and reasonably priced. The bench seating is a tad tight unless you are sylphen. We'll be back tho'. Strangely the tip is included in an evening bill (still optional), but not at lunchtime. Tends to be quiet during the day so no need to book. Special lunchtime menu which has 3 starters and 3 mains. Probably enough choice for most folk. Drinks are a tad expensive, but then it is a bit special. UPDATE 24/04/24 Never noticed before that there is a £4 surcharge on lunchtime bill if you choose prawns. No deserts on menu so went to Allards next door for them and coffee. It has been very quiet at lunchtime over the winter, perhaps because it can be quite chilly. Currently having an interior face-lift.

We had another great meal at the Buddha Lounge on Saturday. The food was delicious and served quickly. Jasmine was our waitress and looked after us very well. Several times she came and checked that we were ok and had everything we needed. It is rare these days to get good service so all credit to Jasmine, thanks. Espresso Martinis were great too. The only negative is the music is too loud but we knew about that before we went. Maybe they could create a quieter area for oldies, we are in 60s and took my mother in her 80s.

The food was beautiful, however the portion sizes were small for the price. I ordered the Bao Buns, expecting 2 as that's how the menu was written but only ended up with 1 for £7. The service wasn't the best, it wasn't busy and we kept having to remind the waitresses we were waiting for more drinks and the bill

Absolutely stunning restaurant. The overall vibe of the place is amazing, great music and at a level that you can still talk and hear your own thoughts, and the food is absolutely stunning. It's mainly focused around Asian tapas which is actually really refreshing. First time of having anything like this other than the weirdness of Wagayamamas but here it works so well. And was absolutely delicious - the katsu was lush, salt and pepper chips, and the Satay chicken was tasty as out!!!!

Allard's Lounge offers a delightful ambiance and a cozy atmosphere. The cuisine, particularly the tapas, is incredibly tasty, although the portions are small but satisfying. The prawn bao buns and seafood paella are highly recommended choices. While the paella may not adhere strictly to Spanish tradition, it is still thoroughly enjoyable. The drink selection is excellent and reasonably priced. Wine pairing with the food adds an extra touch of luxury to the dining experience.
I should have taken photos 🙈 ...but after a flood at our usual breakfast spot ...we decided to try Allard's ... Breakfast was cooked to perfection 🤤 ..every element was quality & it was clearly given the attention it deserves & was executed in a timely manner with friendly staff & nice surroundings I must say the previous reviews did not disappoint! Re-visit with photos ... amazing lamb flatbread and meatball sandwich 👍 never disappoints!

Mussels was not nice,it did not taste fresh, the server asked the kitchen and they informed her that they were fresh. I didn't like the salty cod croquette. As a result of this, I left most of the food on the plates. The thick chips, sour dough bread and ice caramel coffee were lovely. Food was expensive.

First time going and it was amazing. The place has a lovely atmosphere and really cozy feel. The food absolutely delicious, I ordered the tapas so it does come in small portions but very rich so I did feel ordering just two was enough for me :) the tapas I went for was the prawn bao buns and the seafood paella. I wouldn't say the paella is Spanish style but I thoroughly enjoyed. The drinks were lovely as well and I would say reasonable priced. There's also recommended pairing of wine with the food which was lush to try. Overall experience was lovely, the guys serving absolutely fantastic and very attentive. Will come back again. It was an expensive night but a lovely experience to have.

My granddaughter and me decided to venture out to Tynemouth Market... We then thought we would take a little stroll... We didn't get far as we passed by this lovely pub and couldn't help but notice what the customers were eating in the outside sitting area.. 😋... A table became available so we quickly grabbed it... We took advantage of the Tappas deal any 4 plates and 2 drinks for £24.95(times for these deals are stated on menu).. They were delicious... We got meatballs, meat feast paella, fish balls, and smoked cheese croquettes (those croquettes were absolutely delicious 😋)... Meal aside I have to commend the staff.... They were absolutely customer service all the way, they were very accommodating and made my granddaughter and me feel very comfortable, nothing was a bother!... Thank you for a lovely few hours... I will be back 😊

Sat in the bar area, which allows dogs inside, making it suitable to dine for our lunch with our dog! Service was great, helping us with the menu since it was our first time eating here. A lady also gave our dog a water bowl & treats, which makes a nice change. Food was lovely! Although I'd state that the platter is a sharer for 2/3 persons, rather than it being on the mains & tapas is also quite large! As tapas is usually meant to be small, non the less, it was good food!

A beautiful bar in the centre of Tynemouth. Easy to access by public transport and public parking available across the road. The staff were brilliant when we visited, couldn't do enough to help us or ensure our stay was comfortable. Disappointed in the food. Allard's used to be my go to place for comfort food. The pricing is reasonable and they run deals through the week for food and drinks. Sadly in recent years the food has just slowly went down hill. They still offer a lot of the same dishes but they're just not what they once were. Twice now I've been and ordered the same dish with dietary requirements and been given it with said food item included. The staff were happy to change this, can't fault it, but it's just really put me off going there in future. Brilliant for drinks, can't fault the place but the food isn't the best Tynemouth has to offer. Dogs are allowed in the main bar but not the restaurant area!
