Really great staff, very friendly and helpful, managed to get a table on a Friday night which was a bonus. Food was great and loads of vegan options (separate menu). Definitely would go again

We have been to the Brit several times and have never been disappointed. In the last year it has been taken over by new owners who have taken a good pub and made it so much better. The staff are fantastic and very welcoming. The different menus have something for everyone and the food is incredible! The last time we went we tried a steak sandwich from the new bar menu and it was delicious. They also have the best vegetarian and vegan options I’ve ever seen in a pub. The new owners are incredible and treat you like family on every visit. This is a must visit pub!!! You won’t be disappointed.

What an excellent meal we had for Sunday lunch today. The food was superb and the staff were second to none - so polite and very efficient. We shall surely go again - highly recommended.

This destination pub is a lovely place for an evening meal. It does feel special and worth the journey and will be returning ... However, I will be avoiding a night that has live music on. This made it very awkward for me with the noise and to get to the toilet, as the crowd was nearly pouring into back end of the pub. I did enjoy my evening until the live music started because it did make conversation very difficult. Food itself was beautifully presented and tasted amazing! My only complaints would be that the start prawn starter needs larger or more prawns, with some sort of sauce for the bread. I was also wondering where the rest of the duck breast went? The service was great and very welcome, while always making sure we were well looked after!

Met some friends here for lunch. We chose it based on good reviews on trip advisor, and it didn't disappoint! Beautiful food and drink (chicken in Parma ham was particularly gorgeous and they have a great choice of gins - I would recommend the pineapple). The staff were friendly and very helpful. I liked the decor and the beer garden overlooked the river which was very pretty. There is a set menu which is good value. They do play music but it didn't overshadow the conversation and added to the welcoming atmosphere. Lovely experience.

A lovely little pub, full of charm, character and fabulous decor! Delicious lunch and the homemade cheesecake was to die for! We'll be back!

As there was only 2 of us, I thought we would go out for Sunday Lunch for a change and well, we certainly wasn't disappointed. The restaurant wasn't overly busy (which I prefer) and everything was perfectly cooked and served with a friendly smile. I don't usually eat a full Sunday roast dinner, but I couldn't resist! Cauliflower cheese is my new favourite accompaniment to my future Sunday lunches!

Great Sunday lunch we had the lamb which was delicious- lovely fresh vegetables and lots of gravy - then trifle in a teacup for dessert - plenty of Malbec it was awesome there were 4 of us we also had Irish coffee

Fantastic food, lovely welcoming staff and great atmosphere. Situated right next to the river Afan too so can combine a country walk with some great food.

Called in for drinks with friends. Very nice garden and lovely to sit outside when weather good! Update 14/12/23 afternoon Had the festive menu today £30 and wasn't 😍 The parsnip soup, was nice it was super hot but could have done with more seasoning. The turkey dinner was just bland, tho did have plenty of meat, the gravy was like water, only had 2 roast potatoes, (no boiled) which is fine had it not been for just 2 roasts. It wasnt bad enough to send back but it was just bland. Ive honestly had better at Toby. Now the cheesecake was amazing, and well worth having😍 Also the normal menu could do with some lunch time snack items like a panini or a wrap something for a light bite.

Saturday lunch booking, absolutely stunning food! Great portion sizes, good prizes and amazing service! Definitely worth a visit if you’re passing through Cwmafan or if you live by! Quirky atmosphere, great variety in menu, and AWESOME decor! Highly recommend!

Highly recommend a visit to The Brit. The food is amazing - with great menu options. Staff are always very friendly and attentive. I have been there when there is entertainment and have not been disappointed. Basically… don’t give this place a miss 🙌

I hot like a dog🤣where to start? The 1st thing is they do have a menu for our four legged friend.very peculiar menu. Shop as neat as pin & A spruce young dandy behind the counter. Fish and chips batter is too thick for me,overall ordinary.

Dog friendliness is key for me being able to take our dog inside and not being told to sit outside all the waitresses made a fuss of him and the food quality was great even pogz enjoyed his sausages

Fish and Chips were especially nice. Large Cod was large and with very crispy batter. Tried the Irish curry sauce and prefer it to the normal one. Also sat in the restaurant earlier for a glass of wine and our dogs were welcome.

Excellent friendly service. In fact this equals the very best service that I've had in any restaurant for a very long time. Excellent chips exactly the way that I like. The batter on the fish was lovely and crispy. 4 out of 5 for the fish itself. Update 3/1/24:- Excellent calamari salad starter. Good tarta sauce. My partner's hamburger dish was fine. Unfortunately, my haddock in batter fell well below the standard that I find acceptable. I don't believe that the fish was particularly fresh nor of fine quality. I left nearly half on my plate unfinished and uneaten. I paid good money this evening and I expect better. Sadly, this letdown seems to be the trend in many - once-fine - fish & chip restaurants.

Lovely setting on the beach front, I went for the curry which was OK - could have done with some more flavours as it didn't really taste as described on the menu. Chips are divine! However, the apple and blackberry crumble was delicious and the staff were very accommodating and welcoming.

We enjoyed a nice visit to Franco's restaurant. Half the restaurant is dog friendly and the other half is no dogs aloud. The coffee was nice. They actually know the difference between Cappuccino and Latte her. The tea was nice also. We had bangers and mash with peas and gravy. Very enjoyable. Nice, clean facilities. We'll be back.

I've been hear before with friends and always enjoyed, but my experience today was epic. Table for one, the view is special from mumbles to the steel works harbour and everything in between. Great service very polite staff, food was quick tasty and very filling, I had a veggie option there's quite a few on the menu. But looking around and I saw meat pies burgers and fish, what a place definitely on my list to visit again.

We were recommended this dog friendly restaurant by friends and we weren’t disappointed. We have two Labradors, one is disabled and in a dog pushchair, therefore we were a little apprehensive about access. However, the staff couldn’t have been kinder or more accommodating to both our needs as well as our dogs. We ordered the Franco breakfast and would highly recommend the food. Beautifully cooked and well presented and very reasonable priced. We will certainly be visiting Franco’s again.

What a delightful little restaurant. The food was much better than expected (though it wasn't cheap) it offered a lovely dining experience right on the sea front in a spacious yet cosy room with bright and cheerful decor. The staff were all really nice and they even gave us a blanket so our small dog could sit up on the bench of our booth with us.

Superb food, lovely restaurant and the staff were fab what more could you ask for. Our first ever visit but definitely not our last. The staff were very welcoming and the restaurant well laid out, well organised and lovely and clean. Would highly recommend.

I had a chip butty one fine day last week and a can of pop. It was more expensive than my chippy but... it was lush, just what I needed for my treat day, could I finish it all, no as it was massive.. but really nice.

Really nice air conditioned restaurant especially as it was boiling outside. Staff were really friendly and helpful about allergy. My wife & i ordered the Large fish and chips and mushy peas and it was massive. My little one had fish bites chips and corn and she devoured the lot. Prices are reasonable and will def go back

Food looked good,with decent portions. Was left waiting on pass for at least 5 minutes, so peas were cold and only the chips under the fish were warm. Very disappointing for the price. I didn't complain as they were very busy and my daughter would have been embarrassed. Just ate what was warm enough. Won't return.

We visited Franco's on Saturday, 4th November 2023, with a view to having some lunch by the beach as we have done many times before because of the wonderful location and views, great staff, and amazing food. Unfortunately, we didn't get to eat. My dog will be 15 in January and had a seizure whilst we sat at a table reviewing the menu. I would like to thank the staff and other customers on adjacent tables for being so considerate and caring during and after his seizure. Once his seizure had passed and he was back with us, we carried him outside for him to recover totally before taking him home. I would also like to especially thank the very kind chef who brought him out a pot of doggie ice cream and some ice to cool him down, he devoured the ice cream without coming up for air and then wanted to chase the seagulls. I have washed your blanket that we wrapped him in to bring him home. Thank you, and i will return this to you at the earliest opportunity. My little man is doing well, and we have not had any further seizures. We really appreciate your kindness and will be back at some point to have our meal. Francos has always been a welcoming, friendly, wonderful restaurant that goes the extra mile, and I have been coming for the last 6 years. Thank you ❤️

We have been diners at Francos over many years. The staff are great, friendly, attentive and efficient. On this occasion we both opted for large cod and chips with mushy peas. The mushy peas were cold, we mentioned this and were given fresh, hotter mushy peas. So far so good. The cod was enormous! but unfortunately utterly tasteless and watery!! With drinks we paid £34.40. The quality of the fish, or the cooking of it, has definitely gone downhill. We shall not return in a hurry.

The best resturant in Wales I should say. Chips and Curry are beautiful. They are to DIE for and to savour each one. Service is AWESOME and always reliable. The atmosphere is also beautiful. It feels like your on a beach.

We walked in for dinner around 7pm on a Friday based on good reviews and the restaurant was completely empty. That said, a large group of young men came in after we'd ordered. Service was fine, but after enjoying our poppadoms the experience left a lot to be desired. The butter chicken was quite sweet and coconutty, more like a korma. It was also swimming in sauce as you can see in the picture. The half chicken tandoori looked like a showstopper when it came out of the kitchen, but was dry and flavourless. The chicken jalfrezi was far too spicy (I love spice). It seems like this restaurant has been a local favourite in the past, maybe we picked the wrong menu items but this didn't seem like authentic curry and we won't be returning unfortunately.

I eat a lot of curry but believe me, this is probably the best curry I've had in the 45 years that I have been visiting various restaurants. Also the service was amazing.

Absolutely amazing dining experience here at dawats love the fact that nothing is too much trouble for the staff here including the chef. The food is top quality so tasty and quick service always leave feeling full and satisfied. The staff are super friendly and indulgent while working hard to make sure your dining experience is enjoyable. The atmosphere is lovely as is the decor and ambiance 10/10 would recommend and ask the staff if you are unsure of what to eat they have some fantastic suggestions.

Just ate at this restaurant. Called in off the motorway on an off chance……wow! What amazing food & cobra beer a must with a curry. The young lad behind the bar was so welcome and very switched on. All the people in there were lovely. What a find, definitely come to this place. Much nicer than the services any day. Thank you 😊

Discovered this place tonight and ordered for the first time. Food was beautiful and delivery on time. Chicken tikka kebab and chutney tray were particularly speacial. Very impressed and will be back.

Had a takeaway after a long journey home by train. Will be honest wasn't my furst choice as I had not been impressed before -I am now ! Lovely tasty food balti and kebab a real stand out . Excellent delivery service friendly driver . I will most definitely use again

Amazing food. We actually ate here yesterday, the food was so good we had it again the day after. Takeaway both times, but the food was really nice. Very consistent. The madras is genuinely hot. I like hot and it was warm for me! The staff are really lovely too. You can tell the place was established in the 70s, as the experience really shines through in the food quality and customer service 👍 I genuinely think you will struggle to find a better Indian in the area. I have tried many others, but it would be extremely difficult to beat the quality here.

Amazing Indian I’d be tempted to say the best in port Talbot so friendly and always happy to help even going as far as making something that’s not on the menu thanks again guys

Really surprised how lovely this meal was! The garlic Mayo and salmon were sooo good. The chilli squid packed a punch!

Food was nice and well cooked. The service was lacking. Started never turned up and it took 20minutes to get the bill. It wasn’t busy so should have been better.

Called in on the off chance. Great decision. Lovely place. We had a mixed grill and a fillet steak. Both meals were great. Really tasty and great value. Served by really lovely staff. So we will definitely call back when down Baglan way. Thanks guys.

Called for a quick bite to eat. It was around 4pm on a Tuesday and there were a few there but service was very fast. We chose off the lunch deal menu, the burger was very nice and my friend had the lasagne. The chocolate brownie was really nice but if I had it again I'd ask for it a bit warmer, that's just me being picky though! Great price for 2 courses and not a bad selection to choose from. Would definitely call again when out and about 👍🏻

Visited for breakfast. Waited a while with two old grandparents to be attended at the door. Eventually staff showed up with no enthusiasm to invite us. Had reserved but their system didn't show up. They still accommodated us which was good. Good parking facilities Went for unlimited continental breakfast but got limited pastries and bread. Won't be visiting again - no value for money.

I went for breakfast, everything was great, great selection from the breakfast bar and the breakfast was delicious, my only snag was the bacon was a little dry but that's just my preference. Great and friendly service, always a pleasure to go.

Had the double crunch wings to start - chef must have thought that deep frying for twice the time would ensure that they lived up to their name. Served without the spring onion garnish, but on a sea of fat. Main course came, but ordered fries and a hot sauce to accompany - received bbq sauce and chips. If Gordon visited here, he would have a nightmare.

These two are supposedly the same meal, look and taste were vastly different in period of two weeks. Told our waiter and was told they run out of sticks to hold up what is supposed to be a stack. If I had known woul have chosen something else. Normally this beefeater is excellent along with the staff.

Came her for a meal this evening, with family. We were thoughtfully seated (as one of us uses a wheelchair), food was delicious and consistent with previous visits and plenty of veggie and plant based options. The atmosphere was lovely and the customer service was exceptional, so polite, friendly and humourous. Looking forward to returning again soon.

Really bad service, just wanted to book a table for 4 of us with our Disabled son who, as he’s also autistic, always likes to sit at a certain table. When I called to book, even though the table was available, that they would not book it for us as it’s a table for 8 and when I explained that the 4 of us had had that table on two previous occasions (as, until today always celebrated at The Bagle Brook...never again) was basically told “tough” and he ‘can’t justify such a request’ Really bad all round.

We have been here a couple of times, and have had a lovely steak, but they must have changed the chef because it was appauling Supposed to of been a fillet steak no way was it. Will not be returning ever again, be honest and just say there is no fillet left shocking. Sorry for the staff, Not professional at all

Seated promptly despite not reserving a table. Plenty of choice of juices and continental breakfast pre cooked order. Lovely coffee. Breakfast was great Poached eggs over cooked but the only criticism.

Honestly the nicest meal I’ve had in a very long time, the food is cooked to perfection and you get what you pay for good portion sizes and fairly priced unlike most other places out there these days who are there to rip you off. I can highly recommend Afan Tavern, it’s definitely my go to place from now on. It’s immaculately clean, the service is fantastic and the general atmosphere is amazing and very welcoming. Thanks

Never had a bad meal here, service is very attentive always a member of staff checking on the table to sure that everything is OK. Would recommend this place to anyone. Still following COVID rules and taking temperatures so if people are still anxious regarding COVID then this is a good place to go.

Fab food if you want a good meal. Brillant price and food service go here. We go every year festive menu it never disappoints us.

We have visited the Afan Tavern several times but last Friday evening was exceptional, the Scampi was so well cooked and full of flavour and such a generous portion as always. The Jam Roly-poly dessert was just as gorgeous which oozed with the most delicious jam and moist fluffy sponge, the ice-cream gave it a lovely hot/cold contrast. The Shiraz wine we choose accompanied the meal so well. We are looking forward to returning.

Ide never been here before, I saw an advert on Facebook as show not to be missed how right they were Hot Squash definitely had the crowd going.A mate and me had more than a friendly welcome to, the locals were very warm and welcoming.

Booked in for a party of 16 people. We had pre-ordered and the food was served to all of us within a couple of minutes so no-one was left waiting whilst others were eating. Menu options are typical pub grub choices. Portion sizes are very generous and food was cooked very well. No complaints and would definitely return again.

Second time here in less than a year. Last time was amazing. Somehow, this time seemed to even top that! Lovely atmosphere and servers. Very good value for money. Garlic bread was amazing. Highly reccomend.

Nice little place tucked into the corner of the city. parking areas available just outside the restaurant. Good ambience. Had pepper chicken, which was really nice, Sauce was good too, but huge portion though - could not finish due to the portion size. Its almost like replacing a steak with the Chicken breast. Good value for money & reasonably priced.

Had the Barnsley lamb chop and it was better than the one I had in Barnsley years ago. Staff are wonderful and can't do enough for you . Excellent value for money
