Tour agency
Elephant Valley Project is a non-profit organization that provides a forest sanctuary for retired working elephants. The project offers pre-booked conservation experiences allowing visitors to witness the majestic creatures in their natural environment after years of hard labor either in the timber or tourism industry. The place operates with great consideration for both the animals and the surrounding community, ensuring that they are respected while preserving their habitat. Local guides offer extensive knowledge on elephant life, making it an enriching experience for tourists.
It was an amazing full day experience with the elephants. The guides were very knowledgeable and kind and lunch was very good and plentiful. We specially liked their purpose and how they treat the elephants. It allowed us to get very close to the elephants and spending a lot of time following them in the jungle without being intrusive to the animals. The project helps economically the communities and allows for sustainable conservation. I really recommend.

Amazing place! Visited EVP for 3 days with my family. We all loved the place including our daughters at 4, 7 and 9 years. It was amazing to see the elephants in their natural environment after years of hard work in the timber or tourist bussines. The place is run with great respect for the animals for the environment and for the local communities. We hope to return some day.

An amazing place that is doing good for the elephants and community alike. There are few places these days where one can disconnect from the fast paced koas of modern life and do some good for the environment and the beautiful animals that still inhabit this earth. EVP is one of those places. I gained a new respect for these animals in just a short couple days here. I am grateful for the work being sone here and encourage supporting their cause!

I attended the full day tour and had an incredible experience. It was amazing to be able to see elephants so close but in their environment. The guides were extremely knowledgeable and informative and provided stories on the elephants we saw, and answered all questions the group had. It was an incredible experience that I hope to have the opportunity to do again.

What a memorable time! Spent 3 days / 2 nights in the jungle with the elephants and gained a lifetime of memories. There's not enough to say about the experience; the staff, accomodation, food and overall experience with the elephants were outstanding. In my 3 days, I seen most of the elephants on EVP grounds, and got to participate in the health checks, which gives participants a much deeper understanding of tending to elephants. EVP also commits to their mandate of being ethical with their practices, making sure visitors don't get too close, but close enough to appreciate their presence. The accomodation was great, considering were in the middle of nowhere. While there was no internet, the lounge was comfortable, making hanging out with other visitors easy. The volunteering was a nice challenge, but you're put to work to actually enhance the sanctuary for future visitors. You get to see your work benefit other visitors, and it only makes you feel more apart of EVP. Overall, I was very happy with my commitment to EVP and agreed that it was money well spent for the experience and contribution towards caring for EVPs elephants.

Best place in the world! They give the elephants the chance to retire in the forest. Absolutely incredible volunteering experience. Do it.

It seems to me to be a great project to give back quality time to the elephants who grew up in captivity. It was amazing to see the elephants in their environment free and so close to us. Also the project takes care of the bunong community. We highly appreciate that the experience was respectful of the animals so no bikini shower with them. We spent a full day in the sanctuary and we love the food that they have prepared. The guide was well prepared and he explained everything in such a good way!

An authentic and ethical experience with elephants. No cruelty, no gimmicks - just dedicated local staff, international volunteers and 9 happy elephants in 1500 hectares of forest. We opted for a half day excursion due to both heat and a knee injury ($47) and got a short 2km ish hike to meet Ruby a 50 yr old elephant rescued from a lifetime of logging and tourism. We spent a tranquil couple of hours with her at a respectful distance, walking and observing. Our guides were knowledgeable and interesting and we learned so much in a short time. There are options for a whole day including lunch (2 treks or 1 trek and an afternoon's volunteering) and f it hadn't been so hot, we would definitely have opted for the latter especially when we met volunteers here for 2 weeks - and are already thinking about a longer return trip when we can volunteer. The Elephant Valley Project is absolutely worth spending your money on if you're in the area as it supports local indigenous people, elephants and a large area of forest. Providing everything from an elephant clinic to a bush ambulance and schooling, this is a project that after 2 years of no tourists following COVID, needs our support.

Had an incredible experience on a 2 day/1 night visit to the EVP sanctuary. Loved meeting the elephants (from a safe distance), helping out with volunteer projects, as well as learning all about the elephants, project, region, Bunong people and conservation in the area. Food was great and plentiful, and accommodation was rustic but comfortable, perfect for a night in the jungle. Well worth the trip for this once in a lifetime experience. Highly recommended and I can't wait to return!

Amazing and yes ethical out of all I’ve been thru this was the best! But very rural and jungle all the way:) I loved my experience there and will be going back. The elephants, people, community all work together it’s an amazing project

What an experience! It was in every aspect perfect. The project is incredible work. We booked a one night stay with two volunteer sessions and two jungle tours, to see the elephants. We learned a lot about elephants and the project. Thanks to the team for answering all our questions!! The volunteering felt very useful for the project and it felt good to see the outcome directly. Our privat bungalow had a lot of space and also own toilet and shower - incredible comfortable for a stay in the middle of a jungle :) It was much more than what we expected! And the food… wow! Better than a Khmer restaurant, with many vegetarian options. If we are travelling to Cambodia again we’ll definitely come back and we’ll continue supporting the program. Amazing work the team does in seeing all aspects of the local community and the elephants and supporting the local community. We can only recommend the experience! Thanks again to the team for an amazing time.

Amazing place! You get to see the elephants up close while walking in the jungle and you can choose to also do volunteer work in the afternoon which is a lot of fun:) This seems to be the only sanctuary around where you don’t feed/touch/bathe the elephants and therefore is the most elephant friendly Highly recommended

Brilliant & Unforgettable! We took our time and did a lot of research before deciding to book our 'trip of a lifetime' elephant experience with Torn. Communication can be a bit patchy but as he spends a lot of time in the jungle i guess that's to be expected - but we made the right choice without a doubt! - We were very impressed with Torn at Bunong elephant project from the outset, he is very knowledgeable and passionate about helping the elephants and local indigenous people and you just know he is doing this for all the right reasons - it is his calling in life! We spent two days with the elephants and Torn, observing and walking with the elephants, feeding them by hand, washing and swimming with them in the river; to get that close and interact with such majestic animals is an incredibly humbling experience, one that will stay with us and our two teenage daughters for the rest of our lives! I know its a cliche but if you do one thing when in Cambodia, book a trip with Torn, it will be the best decision you will ever make!

UNETHICAL. If you care about wildlife and elephants living free this is not for you. People go and down ask enough questions to support their loose conscience. The bunong people poach elephants from the wild, force them into labour and then Torn comes along and rents them off the tribes and claims its ethical. The elephants are forbidden to breed as it will upset the hill tribe gods and so Torn and the Bunong people are actively causing wild elephant extinction in Cambodia. How people can blind fold themselves for an Instagram photo is beyond me. Torn is a deceitful Moral-less man and cares only about the money.

Kouprey Roundabout

Nice little place to stop over for scenic look at the city. There are some food and drink shops right by here. Across the street in a little pink but/shop is Cafe Kou Prey. Cheap good drinks here. Right behind is a other statue and big 2024 sign for pictures. Independence monument isn't too far away either

Travelling from Phnom Penh along national road 76, when you reach Kouprey Roundabout mean you reach the city center. There was two Kouprey status. Most people taking photo there to proof that they had visited Mondulkiri for a good memorized too. So if you Visit Mondolkiri you should do that too

Supermarket
I need to admit that it's a real supermarket in Mundulkiri. It's not big but a full option, nice shoes, and good price.
Tung Rathmalen — Google review
Good store! Friendly workers, They speak some English as well They have quite some products They are a bit picky with the Dollar Bills, if they are a bit damaged the won't accept them,
Ferdi Beijert — Google review
Well considering the location etc etc it is the best supermarket in the area but a long way to go before its a 1 stop shop....
JON FOX — Google review
A lot of products has no price tags or putting the wrong price and when checking out the price is different from the price tag and I asked to cancel it they said I can't cancel it. Even though they not putting the price on the products. And they get irritated and angry. I had to pay whatever price on the computer. Very terrible. if they would just put price tags or the right prices on the products it wouldn't be a problem. And the manager is very helpless.
Chhor Kelly — Google review
I think this is the biggest supermarket in Mondulkiri. There are more product to buy but some products don't have price tags.
