The Merry Harriers pub offers an incredibly exciting opportunity to discover. They serve a delightful dish of Chicken liver pate on granary bread as a starter, accompanied by various condiments. Their "Steak night meal for 2 with red wine deal" consists of two 8oz rump steaks, served with crispy sweet potato fries or chunky chips, along with mushrooms, tomato, and side salad.
Charming rural pub full of character with welcoming friendly and efficient staff. Comprehensive menu with great quality food, with lunch and evening meal menus plus specials & good selection of desserts. Lovely views from the outdoor seating area across the Mid Devon countryside, innovate all weather pod dining & drinking at the frontage and a highly recommended pub to visit.

Great local pub, serving traditional pub food, quality ingredients, and well presented/served. The staff are all really nice and attentive, service is quick with no fuss. My only issue was the desert menu! I wanted every single one and could only choose 2 (the Mrs wouldn't let me have 1 of each) I'll just have to keep going so I can try every one!
Dan M — Google review
Had a lovely Sunday lunch here. It was reasonably busy but they sat us right away and everyone was very friendly. The menu had lots of options, especially for vegetarians of which I had the Mediterranean tart with sweet potato fries and salad - highly recommend! It is reasonably priced and overall just a nice place to have a family meal
Harriet Moxey — Google review
Popped in for a drink, ending up having dinner. They have tables, pods, and half pods which makes for sun with out the wind. We dined on a Thursday having their special of two Steak dinners and a bottle of house wine white or Red / or drink of your choice, beer and large wine, all for £35. The food was lovely, steak cooked perfectly, the chips nice, with mushroom, tomato and salad. Can improve the toliets, there were all sorts of buckets and bits at the entrance. Overall have full range of pub food, if cooked as per our meals, will be lovely. Worth a visit.

Absolutely fantastic chance find!!! We had an amazing meal sharing Chicken liver pate on granary toast to start served with accompaniment followed by "Steak night meal for 2 with red wine deal", comprising an 8oz rump steak each, my Husband had crispy sweet potato fries and I had chunky chips, also served with mushrooms, tomato and side salad. For dessert my Husband had Sticky chocolate orange cake and I had Salted Caramel gateau (more like a cake), both presented with double cream and a strawberry to decorate. Staff very welcoming, will definitely return. We eat out fairly regularly and I can honestly say I have not seen my Husband enjoy a meal so much in a long time!! Would highly recommend!!

I’ve been here 3 times over the years and each time had the gammon steak. Absolutely fabulous food, location and company.

Absolutely lovely lunch here today. Good choice for vegans. I had the Mediterranean tart which was delicious. Lovely spot sat outside. All of the staff were so attentive and friendly and seemed to really care that we enjoyed our food. Would definitely eat here again and recommend it.

We arrived here as a large group with no notice. They were warm and incredibly welcoming and went above and beyond, opening up one of their back rooms to give us a space to eat together as a family. I don't think they knew but this was the weekend of my grandfather's funeral and their kindness and incredible service really let us properly be together as a family. The food was excellent and even when a mistake was made they happily and efficiently sorted it without issue. I would highly recommend this place without hesitation and will hopefully have the opportunity to eat here again some day.

We have passed this place many times and never called in, but today we did, and what a great place, also very friendly helpful staff as soon as you walked in .We asked if we could eat in one of the pods and the lady replied if it wasn't open, they would open it for us.Good hot food and plenty of it also plenty of choice on the menu. Don't just drive pass give it a go you won't be disappointed

This pub is a must if you’re in the area, we stayed at the CL next door for a night while in the way down to Cornwall. Fabulous range of local ciders and the food was absolutely spot on! Can firmly recommend the steak.

I am Jude, age 8. The food here i must say is lovely just wonderful. Everyone here is so kind and helpful. The kids portions are great but i felt i could eat more chips which i did from Mums plate because she had a lot. Mum and Dad loved it too. I highly recommend the childrens meat lasagne and the profiteroles for dessert which I had to share :( Mum is a veggie and she said there was lots of choice. I'm glad I came here and you can do the same.

The Culm Valley Inn is a charming dog-friendly pub in the picturesque village of Culmstock, East Devon. With its whitewashed exterior, open fires, and garden, it offers cosy guestrooms and seasonal cuisine. Families will love the addition of Waie 2 Play, a barn with a purpose-built play area for kids to enjoy while parents relax in the coffee bar. Afterward, everyone can gather in the pub for delicious food and a welcoming atmosphere.
I'm loath to review this place for fear of not being able to get a table! In short it's really, really good. Lovely charming atmosphere. Fabulous in the summer sat up by the river. And the food is to die for. Their Sunday roasts are the best for miles around. Fingers crossed we can still get a table!

I fancy myself as a bit of a cook with a couple of Italian signature dishes. I have to say the tagliatelle with beef ragu was sublime. My wife’s burger was the best I have seen as my fishing buddy & I make our way round Somerset & Devon on fishing trips. To top it all the landlord is a fisherman & there is a decent mixed river adjacent!
Mark Sutton — Google review
Attended my step mums wake here. When it comes to food I am not the easiest to please, I love my food. They provided a hot and cold buffet, which was simply stunning. Homemade sausage rolls, scotch eggs, mini chicken Kiev, fresh sandwiches. To top it all scones that were simply out of this world. Next time I visit dad, I'll sample the breakfast.

Great pub in a lovely location, very dog friendly, great outdoors area to sit by the river. Also had a lovely dinner here - so delicious!
Sydney Hight — Google review
Went with the family for a farewell meal. Service was excellent. I loved the quantock pale ale. The sea bass was delicious, and all meals were well presented. Mild disappointment with the lack of desert options, but the ice creams went down well, and the baked Alaska style pavlova was reported as excellent

Great pub, very welcoming and good choice of real ales Had lunch that was definitely a cut above usual pub grub. Good variety and also good size portions, all served quickly. Although a struggle also managed a sweet, excellent sticky toffee pudding. Definitely would recommend a visit.
Nick Tait — Google review
The staff are so nice. The steak is devine. There is a wonderful atmosphere there. It is so nice, sitting by the river eating food and being around nice people. They have a car park for customers and are dog friendly. After ur food take a walk along the river footpath towards Uffculme, beautiful walk.

An amazing little pub with accommodation and it is pet friendly. Really nice hosts. Situated in a small village the inn encompasses all you would expect from an old fashion England rural accommodation. Cozy rooms, clean throughout and a very nice outdoor green area, perfect for having a morning coffee in nature. Would definitely come again.
Alina Ioana — Google review
Excellent lunch, recommend the deep fried sardines we shared as starter, along with scotch egg. All six mains were well cooked and flavourful, good sized portions, everyone enjoyed them. Very friendly service. Would definitely recommend.
Julie Saich — Google review
Beautifully situated near the river culm, we could walk along the river in an hour but after a great meal best to drive. Great welcome, friendly service. Menu can change as food cooked fresh on the day, great Italian menu. We returned the following week for a superb Sunday lunch. Plenty of outside seating too and dog friendly.
Donna Stevens — Google review
Fantastic food, went for a birthday meal, tbone and sirloin cooked to perfection whole meal was excellent, would highly recommend and will definitely be back, friendly staff and warm atmosphere, I love a pub that keeps you warm, thank you for a lovely meal 😊
Caroline Webb — Google review
Used to go here 2-3 times a week. Would park up, take the dogs for a walk and then pop in the pup for drinks and occasionally lunch. Then signs were put up saying your car will be clamped if not using the pub. Obvs we were using the pub but didn't want to risk getting clamped whilst walking the dogs. Stop off at the Ashill Inn instead on the way home.

Lovely lunch here today sat next to the open fire. The place has a nice cozy feel to it and the staff were very friendly. The pub is located next to the medieval bridge and there's a lovely walk alongside the river Culm.

My husband and I went to the bakehouse this evening (steak night) to celebrate our Anniversary. From the minute we walked in we were very well looked after. The service and the meal we had was absolutely 100%. Steak cooked to perfection for both of us. Top night in a top establishment. Well done the Bakehouse.
Gail Griffey — Google review
Wow! What a find we called in at Cullompton to break our journey down to Plymouth. We were looking forward to a light lunch, The Bakehouse was the first cafe/restaurant we came across, how lucky were we. We were immediately greeted and offered a really nice table in the window, the menu is extensive offering light bites to main meals, coffee and cake or a selection of cream teas. I couldn't resist the mushrooms in a cheesy cream sauce on toasted soda bread which was delicious, my husband had a cheese and ham sandwich, to describe the bread as doorstep is an understatement the cheese was cut into thick slices as was the ham, served with an impressive side salad, we both gasped when it arrived as did other customers when their sandwiches duly arrived, our 'light lunches' were so filling we didn't bother with supper that evening. The ambience is fabulous the dining room down the corridor by the toilets is worth a visit its very cosy, and perfect for for larger groups of customers. I can't recommend this restaurant highly enough,it will certainly become a regular stop for us when travelling past, its a 10min drive from the motorway junction with a very good carpark right behind the towns main street. We have already decided to call in next Saturday at the end of our week's holiday on our way home.
Stephanie Burns — Google review
Ordered a Bacon, Brie and Cranberry Toasted Sandwich. On arrival it was clearly undercooked. The cheese was not melted and the bacon was cold and not cooked. Mentioned this to a member of staff who took it away. This was replaced with either the same sandwich or a new sandwich that was cooked and was hot to touch. Don't know how they cook there toasties but it appeared as though all the ingredients had been put into two slices of bread and toasted all together. Not the best and won't be returning.
David Young — Google review
Went in for lunch with my wife Friendly service, comfortable. I had a smoked salmon, cream cheese and rocket leaf sandwich on local granary bread which came with a good leafy salad. The sandwich was huge and well made. My wife had the quiche of the day, which went down well and she couldn't finish it, which is fine. We thought the tea wasn't strong enough but I guess it's a question of personal taste. I wouldn't say it was cheap: over £25.
John Slade — Google review
The people here are so lovely and the food is proper farmhouse special stuff. I would love to know where they get everything from! It's much bigger than expected too as it extends to the back, perfect for families and doggos
Georgette Harris — Google review
Very warm and kindly welcome. Took tea, sitting in a sunny window, with fresh, light, fruit scone with jam and Devonshire cream. Perfect!

Found this lovely little coffee shop from the Extra Mile book, 5 minutes off the M5 and free on street parking for an hour, we went for the scones with jam & cream and a cappuccino, definitely worth the drive off the motorway the scones were delicious and the cappuccinos were excellent. All the staff were friendly and welcoming ,the place was clean as were the toilets, will definitely call in again when we find ourselves down that way.

The Bakehouse is a fantastic place to come for a meal or just a bit of tea and cake. The food is so delicious and always prepared and presented beautifully. And of course, the staff are wonderful! I can highly recommend popping in to The Bakehouse!

Nice cosy atmosphere with friendly family staff, standard menu has nice options and there are always nice specials to choose from (the smoked salmon sandwich bangs). Enjoy when they open for evenings too.

First time visitors. What a chilled, comfortable venue. Its bigger than it looks from the outside with a nice dining room at the rear if you fancy with a lovely looking fire for when it's cold. I had jacket potato with lovely crunchy coleslaw, roasted vegetables and blue cheese. Jackets can sometimes be a bit boring but this was excellently cooked and presented. Washed down with a glass of merlot. Can only thoroughly recommend the whole experience. Sometimes you DO get what you pay for and I felt we definitely got value for money here.

The Weary Traveller pub is conveniently located near a busy road and offers a spacious and dog-friendly garden. It features ample seating, a stage for live music, and a play area for children. The staff is friendly and accommodating, providing pleasant service. Despite the proximity to traffic, the outdoor ambiance remains undisturbed. On hot days, they serve refreshing cold drinks. Although food was not tasted, it is known to be excellent in quality and value for money.
We have been here many times on our travels as it's always a convenient place to stop as it's just off the motorway. Food delicious, great carvery on a Sunday (including for vegans and vegetarians!) and a nice beer garden where kids can play. Staff always seem friendly and polite. We'll be back!

Me and my family came in a few days ago about 7pm and the staff didn't seem to care at all. We ordered food and chef microwave did a horrible job. We also had a carvery that because it was later in the evening it was cold and stale safe to say the next morning I did not feel good at all. On the bright the chips was good and crispy.

A lovely family business, with a nice play area for the little ones! We stopped here for a break on our way to Cornwall and were pleasantly surprised by the friendly atmosphere and tasty cake. Our baby really enjoyed playing with all the toys and pulling faces at the staff. Highly recommended.

Called in here today...what a great find, we had a family lunch here which was delicious, all freshly cooked, nice and hot and tasty, very reasonable prices. Staff were friendly and helpful 🙂 nothing too much trouble. Highly recommend a visit, we will definitely meet with our family here again. Dog friendly Big car park. Easy to find

Picked at random from Google maps, for its proximity to the motorway and for being dog friendly, for somewhere to eat. We couldn't have chosen better! Friendly, helpful staff, excellent food and great value for money. Even the locals in the bar were friendly and welcoming while we waited for the restaurant to open.

Stopped here on our way home, it was a really hot day so sat in the pub garden which is really big and dog friendly, plenty of seating plus it has a stage at the far end for live music also a nice sized play area for kiddies. The staff were very friendly and helpful, I know it's on a busy road but out in the garden didn't really notice the traffic and had lovely cold drinks on a hot day, didn't try any food so couldn't comment on this.

This is a handy place to stop it's just off the M5 junction 28 it's so handy for a drink and a bite to eat, rather than get ripped off at the motorway services and pay very high prices. The food is lovely and cooked fresh to order and as you will see by my photos you get a really good portion, the landlady and her lovely young waitress made you fell very welcome.we will have to try their Sunday carvery have heard it’s very nice............. Popped in here again for the Sunday carvery, well what can I say it was brilliant value for the money,They do three meals, small, standard and large,we both opted for the standard meals of which you can have two types of meat if you wish. There were three meats on offer,Beef,Turkey and Pork, then help your self to as much vegetables as you like........I can highly recommend this place, you will not be disappointed.....👍
Ivor Humphries — Google review
Unfortunately, today at the Carvery was a very disappointing experience. The beef was so rare, we even heard the Carver questioning it!! The swede was so runny it looked like it had been liquidised, the parsnips so burnt you couldn't chew them, the green beans were absolutely tasteless. Used to be a fairly regular visitor but can find much better in the area so regrettably we won't be back.
Julie Crowle — Google review
Excellent calvery, we had a table of 8 and was able to get seated and eat ontime. Selection of 4 meats - turkey, beef, pork and ham of which you are allowed 2, portions of meat was very fair and they were all cooked to perfection. Nice selection of veg, sauces. Good drinks menu with prompt table service.

Had a wonderful lunch here. Wild boar burger with pulled pork on top, accompanied by delicious chutney and salad and twice-cooked chips. All homemade and great value for £10.95 (and because it was Thursday my pint was free!). My mother had a very very nice filet of cod and chips. Clean and inviting, friendly hostess. Skip the motorway services and go here instead!

Pub
The Keepers Cottage Inn is a highly recommended establishment with a wide variety of options available on their menu. While the limited alternatives for Sunday lunch may be slightly disappointing, there are plenty of other mouthwatering choices such as the delicious belly pork. The portion sizes are generous, which some might find enjoyable, but it may result in being too full to indulge in dessert. The service provided is excellent and the overall experience is considered great value for money.
Came for a Christmas dinner. Was nice and quiet so felt safe during this pandemic. The pub is very cosy, with a log burner and low ceilings with beams. Great service from friendly staff. The food was lovely, and even had a great vegan option on the menu.
James Dyche — Google review
Lovely little pub. We arrived on a Friday evening and despite not having booked we were found a table and made to feel welcome. Service was fast and friendly. The food was hot and tasty with generous portion sizes. The cost was very reasonable. Our only regret was not finding this place earlier in our holiday.
Kathy Tylor — Google review
Well worth a visit, plenty of choice on the general menu and although the Roast Beef Sunday lunch looked fabulous the limited alternative was a little disappointing. Instead we opted for the belly pork which was delicious. Only down side was the generous portion size (shouldn't moan about that really) which meant we were too full to sample dessert. Coming from South Wales maybe we should not have had breakfast on the way! The service was excellent and would happily visit again if in the areas. Excellent value for money.
Jacqueline Lloyd — Google review
Great pub, great food and excellent Sunday roast. Beautiful location by the river with outdoor seating. Very clean. Well worth going
Dave Hewlett — Google review
Nice friendly staff. Small interior so worth booking during peak season to ensure you have a table. Starter was a lot which made it hard finish our mains which were sticky BBQ pork chop and Chicken with leak and bacon sauce. That said the food was cooked well and tasted good. Good value for money.
Sue B — Google review
On the weekend before Christmas you expect busy, you expect food taking a bit longer to come out but you don't necessarily expect the most cheerful and wonderful team of front of house staff to be there making your day! Great food, generous portions but exceptional staff. Well done and a well deserved Happy Christmas from us!
Teresa Howarth — Google review
Absolutely beautiful Sunday lunch here. We pulled up on the off chance they could squeeze us in and they could thankfully, in the marquee which is beautifully decorated with views of the pretty flower filled entrance to the pub The lady who greeted me was very welcoming and friendly. Our order was taken quickly by a lovely young waitress who then brought our drinks - she wasn't the least bit fazed by the wasp or my children's flailing arms as she put the glasses down on the table so that deserves a medal in itself! My youngest son and I had the beef roast dinner: heaps of meat which was cooked perfectly, huge home made Yorkshire and roast potatoes, then a generous side dish of vegetables to share which were actually cooked not flesh steamed. My other 2 children ordered from the children's menu and both enjoyed theirs too. I was really impressed with how quickly the staff were bobbing back and forth the pub and the marquee either serving up or checking on guests, we never felt abandoned or forgotten. 100% will return.

Lovely old pub, with excellent food and beer and helpful, friendly staff! Lovely Sunday roast and great tasting homemade curry! It must be a good pub? As full of locals on Sunday, always a good sign? Whole place was clean and tidy! So all good, been in twice this week and going back on Friday for our last night!👍🍺

We found this pretty pub on death road. Cute thatch roof, pretty floral garden. Staff were reasonably friendly but the service was very slow and slap dash. The food itself wasn’t too bad. Very generous when it comes to portion size but it was quite expensive and the menu’s felt a bit thrown together. Had to eat outside due to lack of inside tables all of which were reserved. The bench that I sat on collapsed so could have been disastrous but it was fine, I was okay.
