Unassuming riverside hotel featuring a bar, a terrace & a restaurant, plus complimentary Wi-Fi.
Modern quality hotel with good restaurant. A very nice modern hotel in the heart of Stryn. As we drive an electric car, it was very nice to see not one, but several charging stations. We charged our car overnight (Has to be paid separately for a relatively low price) and enjoyed Stryn and its quaint small town charm. We did not have dinner here, but it sounded really good, even offering vegetarian options. The staff was very nice and helpful, the room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was tasty and had a large variety of options.

Stayed in this beautiful hotel for a few days, the best in stryn. It has many room selections based on the view, and the most comfy beds.
Joud Naif — Google review
Very clean rooms. Location is central, near shops. Very noisy at night, cars driving up and down with loud music. Breakfast was poor and buffet dinner was also poor, would not recommend. Girl at reception was very unfriendly who checked us in. Would not pay to stay here again.

it’s okay, hotel. Good location, but without any facilities in the rooms. No fridge, no one smiles there i don't know why, but the best thing is the nature is amazing

Everything was lovely, all the people that work at the hotel were so nice. Thanks for giving us a great holiday 😀

Het hotel ligt mooi aan de rivier. De omgeving is pachtig met blauwe fjorden en groene landschappen maar ook vaak regenachtig. Hotel zelf is niet bijzonder goed, maar heeft ook geen opvallende nadelen. Gewoon redelijk. (Translated by Google) The hotel is beautifully situated on the river. The area is beautiful with blue fjords and green landscapes, but also often rainy. Hotel itself is not particularly good, but also has no notable disadvantages. Just reasonable.

That a fantastic modern hotel but location not near the center area and airports. During the night time you can walk around to discover more places with the night view. Breakfast was good and lot of variety. All room are pretty huge clean and tidy. Room view was fantastic and feel relax with peaceful during the stay. But hotel no elevator, you need to climb with your luggage ard 18 step to 2nd floor. Coach parking, hyper market, mini market, restaurants was available surrounding the hotel. Bar, restaurants is available at the hotel. That a WiFi free for all guests. Luggage storage is available for hotel guest. Wheelchair accessible to the hotel.

our rooms in this hotel was spacious and had a balcony with the view of the stryn river and a small bridge. the hotel was clean and service was also good. we enjoyed our time in this hotel. you can stay in this place !!

Average hotel. Good location, but without any facilities in the rooms. No fridge, no coffee kit - nothing! In the bathtub, the water leaks through a gap of several centimeters between it and the wall- on the floor. Not seen as this thing anywhere respectable in the world. Breakfast is very good!!

Middelmatig hotel. Kamer vrij eng vooral de badkamer met mini-lavabo dat ook half bedekt is door een legplankje. Weinig bergruimte voor kleding. Ontbijtbuffet is goed. Avondeten veel minder. (Translated by Google) Mediocre hotel. Room quite scary, especially the bathroom with mini sink that is also half covered by a shelf. Little storage space for clothes. Breakfast buffet is good. Dinner much less.

Our family room was not very confortable. We had a dining table in our room....the bathroom was not great as the shower floor was on the same level as the bathroom, so the water was going everywhere. The staff at the restaurant was not really nice and the food for dinner was not really good

Hiking area
One of the most magnificent sights I have ever seen. You cannot comprehend the massive size of the glacier until you are standing right beneath it. This glacier is still accessible for people who cannot walk much. I brought my parents via troll car which is a fun ride and takes you within 700m of the glacier along flat ground (recommend to make a reservation in advance which you can do by submitting the form on their site with no deposit). Also as a tip if you are coming from Olden, it is super easy to take the public glacier bus from the port which is clean, well managed, takes you on one of the most beautiful bus rides in the world and costs much much less than any shuttle/excursion bus that you can book through a tour company. The public bus leaves from the port at around 10.15 in the morning (just buy tickets on the bus using card which cost around £2 pp), takes you to the glacier and waits there to take you back at around 1.30pm. Highly highly recommend this as a must see if you are in the area!
Jing — Google review
This hike to the glacier is very nice. There is an option to use little cars to get closer to the glacier if you want but I would definitely recommend walking there if you can. This is a very popular tourist attraction so there were really a lot of people on the trail when we were there. The path will take you up to the lake at the bottom of the glacier and you will be able to see the ice from a distance. If this is the first glacier you visit I would recommend it otherwise I'd say this will not be the best you'll see. It is also very sad to sign the signs on the path marking how the glacier shrunk throughout the years. Apart from the glacier, the surroundings are fantastics with multiple waterfalls all over the place.
Alessandro Balocco — Google review
Access to the start of the glacier walk was by coach from the cruise berth. The cost for the return journey was a very reasonable £10 p.p. At the destination you can either walk the tail or cheat a little by paying for a very interesting return buggy ride which takes you a fair way up the trail. From the top terminus you need to walk the rest of the way on foot. If your not up to the often steep walk there are great views of the valley and glacier from the terminus. Either a good trip.
Graham Dixon — Google review
This glacier is good and easy to hike, worth to go if have time.
Vivian So — Google review
45 mins to reach glacier view point. Easily doable by reasonably healthy people. Walking shoes recommended but not essential. If you don’t walk paid buggies are available.
Zeus FM — Google review
One of the best spots in Norway to see the glaciers and the waterfalls, as well as the huge mountains and creeks which fill the lakes. The way there is spectacular with some pretty scenes and the way up is really hard, you need good shoes and good clothes, and when it rains you need to be resistant to everything.😄
Phil Käding (MrPhenylethylamine) — Google review
Beautiful trail with mountain river, waterfalls and destination point with calm little lake below the glacier.
Virginija Pranckiet? — Google review
Lovely walk up to the bottom the glacier. Some parts are quite steep and can get a little slippy when it's wet. It took us about 45 minutes each way (but we're quite quick walkers). The glacier itself is incredible to see and pictures don't do it justice. Totally worth a visit.
Gary — Google review
WOW in all caps! Simply amazing hike to a gorgeous glacier with spectacular views along the way of the waterfalls and valley of the fjord. The hike isn't too terrible, but medium level. It's definitely the best thing I saw in Norway. We booked a bus online, and the drive was beautiful.
Heather Skale — Google review
Luckily the glacier is still easily visible throughout the walk. It's extremely pretty throughout the walk and the views of waterfalls and mountains (some snow capped) are superb. Be aware... 45 minutes each way is at a very decent pace so don't dawdle (for example on coffee and cake with P&O) if you want a comfortable walk with photo opportunities and no rush back. I would recommend an hour each way plus whatever time you want to spend at the lake below the glacier to have the best experience.
Stephen Denning — Google review
This is the best way to see the glacier, mountains, waterfalls, river etc. Troll cars don’t stop till the top. It isn’t difficult especially once you see what is ahead of you, roaring waterfall and river, glaciers all around, etc. My partner doesn’t like walking but she did this without complaint, viewing everything and walking as far as possible. There is a fence marking where it is no longer safe to walk at the end of the lake.
Joseph Kincaid — Google review
Kudos to Norwegians to make this natural wonder so accessible! People who are saying that it’s not disabled friendly or hard for an average grownup are not correct. Look at the wonderful, wide and almost asphalt trail. Yes, there are couple of areas, where the elevation is a bit steeper, but nobody forces you to rush, take your time and get some rest. I saw old people with walking sticks managing just fine. And if you are in a wheelchair or not fit enough - just take this nice cart (400 NOK) up. The trail is surrounded by beautiful white water river and roughly in the middle the mighty waterfall can be viewed from several platforms. Once you reach glacier, do yourself a favor and take some time to admire this wonder. The trail might get full, if a bus with tourist comes, but they are usually slow and come in one hoard, so just overtake them :)
Ira Hoyer — Google review
We visited here by bus (Olden Adventures) and troll car and had a great few hours. We pre-booked this back in the Uk. The troll cars take 7 people plus the driver and it takes you up to a point where you can walk further up to see the glacier and lake. The walk takes about 20 minutes and is a little steep but worth the walk. The glacier and lake are beautiful and a must see. The troll car is fun - although I think to have walked down would have been nice as the scenery is lovely.
Lesley Huzzey — Google review
Amazing. A climb up to the base of the glacier. The glacier is the most impressive but there is so much more. The mountains, and waterfalls, and the unbelievable green water. Don't miss it if you have a chance to see it. If you can't walk up, there are these little cars that can take you to the base of the glacier.
Colin Flanagan — Google review
The walk was great, lots of rivers and streams, and many great photo opportunities, the walk is fairly easy but at some points there is uneven terrain. There are some vehicles that you can take if you don't want to walk. The cafe sells some nice souvenirs and great food and drink.

Mountain cable car
LOEN Skylift is a popular attraction in Stryn, Norway, offering visitors a thrilling ride to the top of Mount Hoven. The cable car ascends over 1,000 meters in just five minutes, providing breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding fjords, mountains, and glaciers. Located in the picturesque fjord region at the eastern end of Nordfjord, Loen is a hub for outdoor activities and adventures.
The view from the top is breath taking…. Possibly the best view I have EVER seen. Lovely watching the paragliders jump off. There are some walks when you get to the top. We chose a downhill blue route (we have three children) but couldn’t work out the route so came back on ourselves (very steep but a great sense of achievement).
Susie Valentine-Pyle — Google review
The view is amazing!! It was very snowy when we were there mid March, but I'm so glad we went, we were almost the only people there and the clouds in the valleys were magical. Nice chairs indoors to sit in when you get too cold too.
Helen — Google review
Amazing. At first i was nervous to go on up, but when it actually got to it, i was fascinated. When we got up there, which took only around 4 minutes, there were so many hiking routes you could take and although cloudy, still had amazing views. Would reccomend to anyone.
Kyan Mason — Google review
This was an absolute high light of our holiday. Apart from being packed into the cable, with no seats, it was well worth it. The views were amazing. There was also a lovely surprise of being able to walk around at the top, where we found and igloo. We watched people enjoy snow sports and sky dive. The cafe at the top serves a great hot chocolate. Well worth a visit.
Lorraine O'Brien — Google review
Well worth a visit. Good accessibility with WCs at the top and good paths which are wheelchair friendly. The views are absolutely stunning. If your lucky, look down from the viewing platform and see the brave people doing Base jumping (see last video).
Mark Towers — Google review
We did this as part of our Norwegian fjords cruise. It's amazing!!! It's the steepest in europe at 60 degrees. It can carry 20+ at one time. The views are amazing. On a clear day, you can see for miles, and it's a great view of the harbour as well. There is a cafe and large viewing area at the top with a zip line as well. Definitely worth the visit.
Karl Price — Google review
This is a wonderful experience. Terrific view from the top. We were very lucky so the weather was amazing. Highly recommended!
Lars Sannarnes — Google review
Great views and good, but very expensive, lift. It cost $200 for a family ticket, 2 adults 2 children. The restaurant doesn’t open until either 12:30 or 1:00, two waiters told me both times. The bar is open though where you can buy very delicious hot chocolate, local apple cider, and other popular drinks. It is very expensive though, for a hot chocolate, cappuccino, beer, and coke it was $28. I do recommend coming here, but if you want to save money do the hike and bring your own stuff.

Phenomenal... took the shuttle from the cruise dock in Olden. The lift was quick to the top. Once at the top the scenery was amazing. We were lucky to be visiting on a clear, bright and sunny day in early May. There was a series of trails at the top, ice house, lookout places, restaurant, Cafe and gift shop. One of our fav things in Norway.
Colleen G — Google review
We visited the Skylift in June while in port. Using the shuttle service from the port was seamless as we were able to buy tickets that included both. The views on the way up and down and of course from the top are wonderful. The paths and facilities are impeccable and staff were very pleasant. At the top, we had lunch in the restaurant where the vista before us provided a great backdrop. One tip, arriving midday and staying awhile into the afternoon allows clouds to pass away which certainly opens up the view.

Lift built in Austria and very quick, 7 minutes up, 5 minutes down. Set in beautiful Loen. Arrived by Saga cruise. Lots to see, fantastic view. Zip line, paragliding and wing suit jumpers too! Add this to the viewing area with restaurant. Great food. Toilets provided top and bottom.
keith weston — Google review
Yet another highlight of our Fjords cruise holiday. Booked this trip from Nordfjordeid direct with fjordguiding.no and saved considerably over booking through our cruise operator. Arrived by coach and walked straight onto cablecar. Amazing views from the top and very tasty cinnamon buns in the cafe.

Amazing! we didn't get a view because of the cloud cover, but we had snow! It's definitely a must if you're stopping there on a cruise. We were on P&O Iona from 20th April to 27th. Would definitely visit again, hopefully with no clouds, haha
Robbie Collis — Google review
A must see amazing views and fast ride to the top. If you are lucky you might see some wing suit BASE jumping.
Jason Stevenson — Google review
We visited the sky lift from our cruise ship, the rise was swift and we were rewarded with views above the clouds, there was a good cafe and a resturant, walks a short distance from the top station provide amazing views in all directions
Terry Street — Google review
I am petrified of heights but quite enjoyed going up I just looked in towards the mountain. Was a little bumpy when we came back down, but that was just at the top.
Anita Denton — Google review
What a view! Breathtaking ♥️ We took the cable road and enjoyed the views. No need to buy ticket in advance. The weather is tricky cause it may be a bit foggy or cloudy up there. You can grab a coffee in the shop or ice cream. We advise to go at noon or sunset but not the morning as the clouds are low.
Jana Korycka — Google review
We had the most amazing and picturesque visit during our cruise stop. I’d advise to try and visit in the morning, when there’s more chance of mist and fog around as that adds to the scenery. It’s a great place to visit with the family and its wheelchair and pushchair accessible. There’s a nice cafe at the top along with a souvenir shop and cake / bakery stand. This is a must visit if you’ve never been.
Adam Venn — Google review
Spectacular place, the lift is almost vertical. The restaurant has a fantastic view while u dine. Food is alright. After a meal there are trails which has various difficulties. More fantastic views. Can spend a few hours easily

Hiked there-and-back snow trail from Loen Skylift to Nøkketjønna pond area via Skredfjellet peak in Loen, Norway (5 miles, 570 ft gain); easy trail with great views of fjord lakes nestled below steep valleys to south/west and a mountain range to the north/east. Started at 1030, reached turn-around at 1245, and finished at 1430; gondola runs every 30 min. We safely hiked the route in winter conditions without technical gear (only wore cold weather gear and hiking boots); up to the Skredfjellet peak the trail is well groomed by the gondola company, and if desired you can follow the rock pillars onward by navigating the snow and ice with careful footing. The gondola company rents show shoes at the top of the lift if needed.

Information center with exhibits on the park's geology & wildlife, plus a lakeside botanical garden.
As it was my birthday while we were in the are Mrs Mono kindly bought me a helicopter flight over the national park, mountains, lakes and fjords which offered breathtaking views of everything in the area, but especially the Jostedal Glacier. For security reasons, we weren't allowed to fly directly over the glacier, but we got as close as possible, and I would recommend this extra without a doubt - I would have sacrificed dinner and drinks were it a question of money - a once in a lifetime experience!

Such a beautiful place, the museum is set in the most stunning surroundings. Enjoyed the exhibition and the video was really informative.

A small beautiful center situated by lake Oppstryn and surrounded by dramatic mountains. Interesting botanical garden to learn about some native plants, trees, and flowers that represent the local flora and amazing people to inform you about the area. (Last year's photos)

Hjelle Hotel, a charming establishment from the 19th century, offers stunning vistas of lakes and mountains. It provides a complimentary breakfast for its guests. Situated in Hjelle, a quaint village approximately 20 km away from Stryn, this hotel showcases traditional architecture amid picturesque surroundings. Nature enthusiasts will find solace here as they explore and unwind amidst tranquil landscapes. The hotel staff ensures an excellent stay experience, adding to the delight of visitors.
A beautiful traditional family owned hotel with the most magnificent view of crystal clear waters, mountains and glaciers. Loved the sweet atmosphere of tradition, the sauna and the dinner, which also was a classic Norwegian fare. Definitely the favorite hotel during the one week holiday in the fjords.
Tuomas H?nninen — Google review
The hotel features breathtaking lake and mountains view. The dinner was delicious with a number of different options for a fair price. The hotel has a history and a lot of nice old decorations well saved till now. The room(in the annex) has a good shower, heating, fridge, kettle and a professional hardier. The breakfast is good (thought there are no desert options except for the fruit). There are hot tea and coffee available at reception throughout a day, you can have a take away lunch and coffee quite cheap. There is a boat available for guests free of charge.

Went and stayed with my wife for 1 night, we reached quite late around 9.30pm and next day when we were checking out at 11.30am (checking out time is 11am), the owner was kind enough to offer us to stay longer and use the room as we are going to Geiranger at 6.30pm by ferry. It was very useful for us as we were spending the rest of the day around Loen and manage to leave my charger to charge my batteries for drone and camera. All in all, 5 stars definitely fit for this family hotel, and i would highly recommend it to my friends that coming to Norway.

What an amazing hotel, not to be missed. The location of this hotel is breath taking. The views of fjord, mountains and glaciers will leave you speechless. The check in was smooth and the host was very pleasant and helpful. Coffee and tea is available at the reception 24 hours. The room was a real treat. We had a nice sit out area with beautiful views. The bedroom was done up nicely. Bed was comfortable and linens were nice. The bathroom had a big tub and the shower was good. The breakfast was functional. The dinner was nice but a tad expensive. They made vegan noodles for me so I was happy!

You will love this historic hotel! Emma and Lorentz are the most wonderful hosts. The rooms are spotless and cozy with incredible views. The breakfast buffet is huge and delicious. We had two dinners here and they were superb! Hjelle Hotel is in one of the most beautiful settings! We love being able to hike directly from the hotel and the Segestad Mountain Farm hike is stunning. This is our third trip to Norway and Hjelle Hotel has been a MUST for every trip!

This place is beautiful. But beware of the dinner menu. I ordered a very expensive chicken stir fry and got a tomato soup with noodles and chicken. Disappointing.

Hjelle Hotel is a wonderful hotel with history in a beautiful lakeside location. The staff is wonderful and made our stay a joy. The breakfast and dinner were delicious. The dinner was very reasonably priced. Our room was in the older part of the hotel and had a beautiful view of the lake and mountains. There’s also a nice spot to take a swim in the refreshing lake water. I highly recommend you stay at this hotel during your stay in Norway. You’ll have a wonderful time.
