The Hawes Inn is a picturesque waterfront establishment that exudes rustic charm. Its traditional guestrooms and classic pub, complete with a cozy fireplace, provide guests with a truly authentic experience. This historic inn offers an array of local delicacies, such as hand-crumbed langoustines and mussels, as well as seasonal favorites like pan-fried lamb.
We had an early dinner on a Saturday afternoon . Restaurant wasn’t too busy! The service and food was really nice. The skewers were really tasty. Party of 6 and we thought this great value. Will return

Visited with my partner and our 12 week old baby. We had booked a table and were given a choice of a couple of tables which was nice so our pram wasn't in the way. Great menu and the food was lovely. Staff were nice but seemed a bit understaffed as we didn't see our waitress much. We waited about 30 minutes to order dessert but she didn't come back so we went up to pay instead. Would still go back though.

We have been to The Hawes Inn a few times, but have never dined here. Yesterday, we finally got the chance, and we were not disappointed! Lovely food and excellent service. We also took advantage of some of the deals on their app, and so the price was fantastic, especially given the quality of the food we recieved! Wonderful!

Quite a nice pub restaurant. The food was okay. The pub has a bit of a tired feel and could do with a refurbishment. The setting is lovely, sat almost under the Fourth Rail Bridge and is worth visiting just for that.
William Johnston — Google review
Very helpful staff and a lovely recently renovated hotel. We had a lovely stay and a very nice dinner. We asked for two different whiskeys to taste and were not disappointed, very nice. The room was nice and quiet, very comfortable bed.
Marieke Kramer — Google review
We only stayed one night, but it was very nice. Dinner was great- Sunday roast & sea bass- both delicious! Yorkshire puddings we’re excellent. Rooms were cozy and clean. We had the room by the stairs so we could hear people coming/going if loud. Only complaint: the restaurant is dog friendly and a family had their dog that wouldn’t stop barking. It was really unpleasant and we ended up leaving as soon as we could.

Stayed for 1 night in Turret Room on a B&B basis. Room stunning, with views out to The Forth Bridge and Hotel Gardens. Went for the evening meal..food was delicious. Ham and Cheese Pie was yummy. Good choice of food at breakfast. Special mention to Kate our morning server. Nothing was too much bother, very cheerful and caring person. All staff were friendly and approachable, from minute you step in the door. Thank you for making our stay memorable. Remember to sign in your car at reception for free parking.

Absolute gem of a place! Outstanding food, interesting place too, warm and friendly, great staff, highly recommend a visit. Excellent prices for the high quality of food too

Had a great stay at the Hawes. Beautiful old building and the bar & restaurant area, although a large space, is cleverly designed and manages to achieve a cosy feel. The food in the restaurant is really excellent. Especially the desserts! The staff are friendly & the rooms are very comfortable & spotlessly clean. Not the first stay in the Hawes & definitely won't be the last. Highly recommended

Nice Inn and good location on sea front. Lovely views. Food is really good. Had fish and chips, was very good and decent sized portion. Dog friendly which is great.
Craig — Google review
I brought an American friend here for lunch, knowing she would like it! I had the halloumi skewers & feta salad which were excellent. (Vegetarian option). She had the chicken pie which she referred to as being “ok” but not outstanding. The setting is lovely and we walked along through the Main Street before returning back to the car. A great destination for visitors to Scotland as well as locals.

Beautiful, historic little Inn Perfect positioning as your bedroom window looks out onto the water and bridges. Beds are comfortable Rooms are heated up before you arrive - so cosy. Safe parking available Restaurant Fully stocked bar Short walk to other restaurants and stores
Lisa Campos — Google review
Nice decor clean and tidy but as a couple you always end up with the worst tables. Sadly on a slope and on the main waiter/waitress thoroughfare. That said food was lovely when it arrived. Blessed with a world class location.

A really nice experience with excellent food and service. The portions are generous the ambience is lovely. We'll definitely be back 🙂
John Luttrell — Google review
We often bring family from England here due to the gorgeous location as much as anything. However, this place is always nice and warm and the menu has plenty of options. My family had Sunday roast, but as a vegetarian who didn't fancy the Wellington, I went for the hallumi skewers and flatbread. As always, very tasty and worth breaking my rule of avoiding the Mitchell and Butler brands.
Nik Machen — Google review
Thoroughly enjoyed our lunch here this afternoon. I had the duck and orange parfait to start and garlic prawn skewers with a selection of humus and flat breads and they were all delicious. The waitress was very friendly and attentive, would highly recommend.

Lovely baked potato with cheese, bacon and salad. Hubby had a black haggis burger, chips and salad, he said it was lovely. Great portion size. Very helpful staff, as I'm gluten free. Will be back.

Braw wee pub, really friendly staff, nice atmosphere, food was fresh and drinks hit the spot. We had the fish and chips and it was fresh and tasty and made to order. This was our 3rd visit and we'll be back.

Was in for a few drinks on Saturday evening. There was a lad playing acoustic guitar, he was excellent. Non stop song after song, genre after genre, something foe everyone. Excellent evening had.

The best pub in Queensferry by a mile. Great food, a good selection of Real Ale and lovely staff.
Richard Pearson — Google review
Good food, good environment, good service on a busy Sunday. The friendly staff served us a large group of cyclists well. The set lunch of lentil soup and sandwich with tuna mayo fillings was delightfully yummy. Value for money too at just £10 with coffee.
Fifi Tsoi — Google review
We went in on a wet Monday afternoon, it was busy and a small band playing. Quick service, great people all wanting to chat, made very welcome. Great atmosphere all round. Landlord then brought out free food plates to everyone. Just shows, with a little effort you can have a busy pub on a wet November day. Well done the band with Beatles era music, above all, well done Landlord.
Percy Bolton — Google review
Superb little place! Attended on Saturday evening The atmosphere was very old school. Absolutely loved it. Just a cracking little place. If you're into proper pubs, give this little place a visit. Sadly can't rate the food as didn't have any. But everything else was grand.

First time here today and had a lovely lunch. Steak pie was amazing, full of tender chunks of beef in a rich gravy and generous portion. Hubby enjoyed breaded fish but will go for the steak pie next time.

Great little pub. Excellent polite staff. Very clean Inside. Had a couple of drinks and food. All I can say is the food was outstanding. I would return no problem at all. Dog friendly and even brought him water and some treats. Keep up the good work.

Came in here looking for a cozy pub lunch and wasn't disappointed 😋. Steak pie was to die for with lovely chips and peas. My partner said his fish and chips was perfect - just exactly how he likes it. Staff were warm and friendly - the service was impeccable 👌. Lovely cosy place 😀

Restaurant
The Boathouse is a seafood restaurant located on Portobello beach in Edinburgh's seaside. The restaurant offers fresh and top quality fish and seafood dishes, as well as stunning views of the Forth Bridge. The kitchen is open until 8:30pm every day, making it the perfect place to relax after a busy day at the beach.
What a hidden gem, we had just walked the Forth Bridge and them made our way into the town to have a look. Luckily we found the boat house where the food was superb, the staff excellent and the views stunning. A must visit if in the area, it’s just really really good.
D. Donnelly — Google review
Beautiful seafood restaurant right on the waterfront in South Queensferry. Lovely minimalist interior but has large wall to wall windows with view of the bridge. The menu felt a bit limited, but the specials made up for it. The mussels are excellent, you could tell they were fresh and the taste was great. Seafood linguine special was also delicious-perfectly cooked langoustines and tasty sauce. The seafood starter wasn’t anything special, but was still nice for the price. Fish and chips were glorious. Definitely a lovely place if you want some decent seafood in a prime location. The craft beers on offer were also a nice change from the norm.
Simone Strock — Google review
Absolutely 100% the best views in Edinburgh. You will not get an experience like this. Amazing staff, extremely friendly, helpful & chatty. Food was divine. Even my gluten free and alcohol free requirements were NO hassle at all. I was made a delicious mocktail just based on what flavours I told the waitress I liked!!!! No photos of the incredible food or drinks as we were too busy enjoying but see what I mean about the view!!!!!!! Highly recommended ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Vix Wall — Google review
Second time we were visiting the Boat House because the food was so so good the first time around. Once again the food was spectacular. Scallops,. Black pudding, langoustines... All top quality and very fresh. The views from outdoor tables are unique. The place was fairly busy and one of the staff was visibly stressed but it didn't take away any of the experience. Thank you!
David Kaspar — Google review
What a lovely lunch. A great table, looking out at a panoramic view of the three bridges, as well as the harbour. There is also seating outside, but it was a little too windy today (late March) The three course meal we had was top quality. Well presented and off good proportions. Service was quick and friendly. No hovering, just aware of where we were in the meal. I would definitely recommend this restaurant. Both for the location, quality of food, and service. I wish I had taken pictures of the food... enjoying it so much I forgot to.
Billy Potts — Google review
All the food was perfect! Why does Scotland tap water taste better than most bottled water? I had the brie, truffle fries, lamb & cabbage in dark gravy which was the best lamb I've ever tasted in my life.
Judith Ann Arnold — Google review
What a lovely position to sit and have dinner overlooking the iconic Forth Rail bridge. We had an early dinner at 5pm so saw the bridge in brilliant sun light and then later, lit up against the dark sky. They have indoors and outdoor seating and although we sat indoors, we felt like we were almost sitting in the beach. Our meals were served quickly, nicely presented and really tasty. Some people came just for coffee but the restaurant was too busy to serve them so i would suggest either booking first or not going during main meal times. I personally think they should have served them but maybe told them they had to vacate their table by a certain time. The restaurant is down stairs from the High Street so not suitable for disabled guests. Parking is very limited on the high street with parking meters but there is a small free car park at The Binks, just 5mins walk away.
Steve Allchin — Google review
Excellent food in a nice atmosphere. We managed to sit outside as the weather was great. Enjoyed lovely fresh seafood dishes. Highly recommended.
Gee — Google review
Lovely afternoon on the outside terrace, stunning views over the water and of the bridges the food was wonderful, I had the mussels and my wife had the Nachos. Also had coffee and beer and wine later on. All staff were very friendly, helpful and welcoming, they were also very understanding of the fact we had our dog Molly with us. She’s quite an anxious dog and not used to meeting other people, but they came to see her and some spent time making her feel welcome and safe. Thank you to everyone, would highly recommend
Richad Curtis — Google review
Wow. What superb staff and food. We got what seemed the best seat in the restaurant with a fantastic view of the Forth Bridge and small beach. All our servers were attentive and friendly and really seemed to enjoy their job. The food was brilliant and my sole with anchovies and capers delicious. So fresh it slipped off the bone. Best place I have been to in Queensferry.
Andy Wallace — Google review
Our experience at the Boathouse in Edinburgh was a mix of highs and lows. While the ambiance and service were pleasant, there were a couple of notable drawbacks that led to the deduction of two stars. Firstly, the lack of fish options on the menu was disappointing, especially considering the restaurant's name and its location by the water. As seafood enthusiasts, we were hoping for a wider selection to choose from. Secondly, the quality of the kids' menu left much to be desired. My nephew's meal was particularly disappointing; the sausages were fatty and unappetizing, resulting in him not finishing his meal. Despite these shortcomings, the overall dining experience was satisfactory, with friendly staff and a cozy atmosphere. However, we hope the Boathouse considers improving its menu variety and the quality of its kids' offerings in the future to provide a more well-rounded dining experience for all patrons.

We had a fantastic day and evening here, it was my daughters 18th. We hired the private dining area, can't thank the staff enough. The food was excellent, everyone had a great day. Thanks to the Rogue Bros and the Boathouse team. Would highly recommend the Boathouse for a private dining event.
Shona Lessels — Google review
Fantastic view- reasonable prices for the quality and taste of the food. Atmosphere was calm and pleasant. Salmon risotto- very well seasoned, creamy, and delicious fresh salmon Pork-belly with seasonal veggies was also very juicy and well seasoned. Not as many vegetarian options as one would hope, however there was some. Would definitely recommend and planning to go back.
Katja Rachanioti — Google review
We have been several times now since the rouge bros take over and cannot recommend highly enough. The food is excellent, the menu is changed regularly and accompanied with great cocktails and quality/reasonably priced wine list. The service is incredible, no matter who is serving you can guarantee them to be personable and attentive, remembering small details from one visit to next. If you are in town on a Sunday, the roast is a must! The overall experience is second to none in the ferry! Thanks to the team and keep up the great work!
Hamish Bird — Google review
We went here for our Valentines meal, gorgeous food and great seasonal menu! They handed out a rose to every table which was a nice touch. Staff were really friendly, seemed really enthusiastic and excited about all their plans for the venue! Decor could do with a bit of a refresh but sure it’ll all happen in time! Most important thing is the food which was brilliant! 👏🏼 possibly would be nice to see more fish dishes on the menu / and maybe a dietary requirement key but personal preference.

The Little Bakery is a charming spot located on High St South Queensferry, offering a delightful range of home-baked cakes, breakfasts, and afternoon teas. The cafe prides itself on quality coffee and sweet indulgences in a dog-friendly setting. Customers can enjoy delicious dishes such as Butternut Squash and Ginger Soup served with crusty sourdough bread, bruschetta with tuna salad and egg, and an array of beautifully made cakes and desserts.
Gorgeous venue; great brunch menu; delicious food. Service was a little slow/disorganised but that was understandable given how busy they were. Would definitely return.

Lovely dog friendly cafe with an emphasis on sweet indulgence. Lots of cakes and desserts that are made beautifully with proper barista made coffee, something that's been hard to find in Fife. The menu has sweet and savory dishes for breakfast lunch and afternoon tea. They tend to run out of the favourites quite quickly so get in early if you want a particular meal or cake. Toilets available and lots of comfy seating options with romantic feel.
Rachael Allan — Google review
It was a quiet day in South Queensferry so when we arrived it was steady but not busy at The Little Bakery. This is a popular place to go, the service was good and the food did not take too long to arrive. Food was also well priced and was a plentiful serving. There is plenty of seating inside and more towards the back. The atmosphere feels a little old and it appeared that there was measurements being taken for renovations to take place. Still would have no issues with going back. Great place for breakfast or lunch.

Just a quick breakfast here. The hot chocolate with rose petals was fabulous - colourful, aromatic and delicious. The coffee and cinnamon bun were fine, not outstanding. A dog friendly cafe and you might encounter other furry customers here.
Kenneth Li — Google review
The server who seated us an took our order could not have been nicer, genuinely so lovely and super quick sorting us a table and took our order less then 10 minutes after we arrived, if it was just him it would be 5*… But, we waited 45 minutes for a milkshake and over an hour for 2 plates of pancakes. My partner had to leave as our car had now run out of parking, which I understand is on us, but we fully hadn’t expected to wait that long for pancakes and ended up having to box them to take away. We ordered a Strawberry Milkshake, the Canadian and the Cookie Monster, cooking monster was insane amount of chocolate sauce and cookies and was really nice, the Canadian had great pancakes and loads of syrup but the bacon was dry and burnt and was just back bacon not streaky Canadian bacon which was disappointing. Over all I wouldn’t go back there unless I had a lot of spare time.
Rhoswen Jones — Google review
Friendly and helpful staff create an unrushed and relaxed atmosphere. Wide variety of tables and sofa chairs with plenty to choose from in terms of fresh cakes as well as a menu with a nice selection of breakfast options. Great location - close to public transport and just a few steps away from a great viewing point for the Forth rail and road bridges.
Anna Pinsky — Google review
We went here for an afternoon tea which was given to us as a gift and it was delicious! The display looked lovely and the treats were just the perfect size with the amount that you get. Our favourite were the mini cheesecakes in the mini plant pots - delicious!
Caitlin Bryce — Google review
Very cute bakery with plenty of spaces to sit. They always have cakes and sweet dishes ready to be served, and they offer amazing breakfasts / hot food. The place is dog friendly and they even have puppucinos, which my dog loves. The portions are massive so you can even share one, but worth trying everything!

A fantastic find with great views of the forth bridges from the nearby harbour. Staff were very welcoming and got us seated quickly. The full Scottish Breakfast was fantastic with good quality sourced produce. The pancake stacks were huge, generous portions and utterly delicious. The presentation of the food was put together by someone who really knows what they're doing. My daughter had a smores hot chocolate which was so thick and chocolaty. There are also various freshly made cakes a breads to take away if you wish. As you can probably tell by now, I certainly am a fan of here and will be making another stop here next time we visit Scotland. Keep up the good work guys 👍

One of the few bakeries I can eat at. Wide variety of Gluten Free and Diary alternatives. The cafe is small, wholesome and very modern. Best tasting GF goodies. Dog friendly. Sit in or take away. The venue chnages thier menu to the season so there is always something new and tasty to try. Very busy so worth booking if you know your going or a wee 5 min wait for takeaway stuff.

This is a little gem on High St South Queensferry. You know its gonna be good when you see how busy it is but there were still a few tables to choose from. We were served by a very charming girl with a delightful smile. The Butternut Squash and Ginger Soup was really delicious served with toasted, crusty sourdough bread and butter and my friend had a bruschetta with a mountain of tuna with salad and egg on top. Latte coffee was also creamy and excellent. We did not partake of cake or pastries but The Cinnamon buns on view were huge and looked delicious and there were pork and cranberry home made looking sausage rolls which bear further investigation on a future Visit.

What a stunning restaurant! Had a beautiful valentines meal in here with a great view and fantastic service from Erica. I worked in that boat shed as a young sailing instructor 15 years ago so amazing to see such a glow up from the dusty old navy boat shed we hung sails in! Food was absolutely incredibly, will definitely be back!

What a beautiful restaurant! The staff is very kind and welcoming. The toilets are clean, the tables are beautifully set (some are huge! Great for groups) and the food is top! The cocktails are tasty and the view from there is stunning. Upon arriving you enter the car details into the little machine at the bar so you won't have to pay for the parking. It's a fast paced restaurant, with short waiting times, I visited it without reservation, however, I'd recommend to book in advance as it's very busy. I'll definitely be back.

Called ahead to booked a table but was told it was full but they may have a walk-in available. Took a chance and stopped in and a table was available. It's a lovely spot by the Forth bridges, with a nice ambiance and great food. Drinks service was a bit sluggish on this occasion, we were brought a jug of water immediately but no offer of other drinks until our main course arrived. We've been a few times and this was the first time I realized they have a loyalty card, just ask your server for it.

Visited for dinner, got a lovely welcome at the desk from a very enthusiastic hostess. Food was really good but some of the young staff need to be told to watch cues for when people have finished or not finished eating as they tried to clear one of our plates when one of us was still eating. Gorgeous views from the restaurant too!

An upscale restaurant in Queensferry on the Fourth of Firth with grand views of the bridge triumvirate. Food very good, service for two women on Holiday, abyssmal. Took 25 minutes to be asked for drinks, 15 minutes before received drinks and ordered food--all the while watching other tables attended to regularly. This is not uncommon for women or solo travelers, but in a restaurant so highly recommended by another restaurateurs, it should not happen. The only saving grace were the attentions of two younger staff, Bethany and Gregor (I believe that was his name. Hard to pick up the accent). Bravo on them!
Boggins Apple — Google review
Style over substance. This place is aesthetically pleasing, with a nice view and lovely decor. The menu sounded promising - some random flavour combinations but I trusted the chef would do them justice. The starters arrived within 5 minutes. The mushroom toast was delicious and the croquettes nice. The mains arrived, also very quickly, the chicken caesar burger was dry and lacklustre. The baja fish tacos were greasy, tasteless and covered in mayo. I sent them back and the staff were very nice about it. I opted for another starter which was charred watermelon & feta which one would assume was warm. Nope. It was cold charred watermelon with a tasteless feta cream or something, which might as well have been plain yoghurt, served with some rocket. Some toasted pumpkin seeds would be a nice addition for some flavour depth. All in all, great waiting staff but poor food.
